What we learned from the MotoGP Sepang Test
"Hello and welcome to the tank. slappers podcast auto sport and Motorsport Network podcast for all things the two wheel this week shore as a very special recorded from the supplying international circuit because it has been three days of motor GP tests in the first preseason test test of the year joining me as far as Motorsport dotcoms global mortar cheapie editor oriole posed Oriel area after three days. Well I'm I'm good but died at the same time. So yeah it's been An exceptionally punishing week. But an interesting weekend will die straight straight workers whereas quite a lot to talk about more stop Yamaha we got to see more of the twenty twenty bake fabricator Arrow the Petronas Saudi writer had the twins twenty bike for for the first time this test and he went fastest on it so Yamaha off to good start. So the timesheets Taylor's the Overview the general conclusion of these tests. I think Leaves US few question. Marks still be goes Of course mark is not fully feet still with a lot of pain and lack of energy Deal to the surgery in his right shoulder at the beginning of last December so and we have another question marks like for example the dame fluent of the new Rear Mitchell in dire because I think than in a way can make the things that it difficult to understand still because some teams are working are still working on trying to the understanding behavior and yet the that behavior of thyroid. So I think we're GONNA we're going to see Few changes changes the From now to to Qatar Gaz interesting. You mention the tile twenty which has been tested a couple of times last year general consensus among most of the teams that is GonNa Yamaha and Suzuki Raiders. It seems to offer a bit more edge grip Which of of course something that? The Yemen's rookies contain a lot profit from as an interesting thing because also the tire. Racism Insane is quite in a strange one like grips spending script Spence Spence or thing and catching a few of them. It seems to the front of but more so it seems a l.. Take a tame aim obviously to get to get it right out but it seems that Yamaha Suzuki have been offered a little bit of an advantage already because of just the natural way of the bike. Yeah Iceberg put with the muscle today and he says that The common sense says so. I mean that Yama Han and Suzuki as you say because of the nature of the bike can take a bit more profit of these types but he he says listen the dire this new tired. Disney'll rear it is better for everybody not only for for Yamaha mean hus- More Group on maximum in glacier shown on the H.. So but for everybody which means that even the bikes struggling mall. I mean that they don't use that extra reap will at roughly this new tire so in a way yes yama hunters rookie. Broadly will be will take a bit more profit than than the others. But in general what Mitchell in says says that all the factors will will be faster with. Does this new and we have seen it already already on the on the timeshare time sheets are really really close. I mean we've got the combined one here in front of us but you know the top name tied-in you know that Sam as Fabio quarter are all the way down to Brad. Bender is not even covered by a second. You know it's it's not even eight tenths. It's it's a ridiculous margin I can't remember who said earlier on on Sunday That that is a little bit of a fake reading One of the radio said that camera which is true. I mean we've had three days of you've Michelin Rubber on this Arkansas. Obviously track conditions are going to be really good Just to continue with the title although it does seem that this I will overall benefit everyone. CALCUTT slow Nelson. Honda rider was a little bit more pessimistic about it because he he's we say no that this time you can really spend it as much as used to be the whole way to get the reader. The bank turned and he's having a lot more problems with turning the bake than he did last year And he said he's reiterated that across the three days has been sounds like Honda haven't quite gone on top of the issues of last year year. But I mean even Denmark has said that on the Knicks working because To him it looks like The other manufacturer specially Suzuki and and Yamaha have made out step forward so he urged here just Honda to be working and to put another gear to step up the to try to do even more because otherwise she says. Listen the competition. But these Sean is getting harder powder and yeah. He's not one hundred percent but he can see men different things and in most of the writers agree then banalities Umbrians The fastest guys here. Even I mean okay. Despite five your hus- set has lead the time sheet the three days. They say that you'll keep an eye on on the on the race base the best race base of ABC. All the all agreed is from my already comes comes from Murray and from especially from an accident he added the pace of prince has been really quite exceptional mean Suzuki of course they have got the new bakes here. LOBER lasts for them to test this week. Especially compared to Honda cows had three bikes Alban urban of different specification and especially Chassis specification mark. Hasn't been able to do so much testing's been limited in the mode of laps. He can do Alex. Marquesses of of course a rookie Venezuela's the interest in one because just looking at US race base here and he was the only one and he's one of the few to fool semi relation on the Sunday. An his pace has been really really really good. You know Metallo. One fifty means the thing the Yemeni to get rid of courses the stars and they have brought the whole show device to to fix that so no. Let's Yom are faintly heading in that direction where they know. They've got the pace to win. No the altogether altogether and it seems like maverick with this new Baker. Really really. He's taken to Lakeway. Expect almost like into those and seventeen when he first jumped on the is that sort sort of kind of say that sort of Arab opened the ear of confidence about with US Bank. Yeah but I I think Yamaha looking for beat more top speed So today said it done then. Let's see if with this Ni. Wenjun he can keep the the sleep swim which is still not clear here so they made a step in compared with last year engine but I think now they are like they have? They are like seven H SLA than than the competition. So yeah I I think Would going to see I to be honest. They see my really strong really focus. Maybe even more focus than than we've seen him before but again I have the feeling then once we hit guitar everything will be wouldn't place so we will see a Nada another story. Yeah the speed trap things interesting because Calculus talking about this us on Saturdays at the where the speed trap line as is actually so then the breaking zone for Is a little bit of a trek there. That if you break a bit late or you're going to go faster which. which is? Why Jack Miller on the Takatshi posted like three three eight year decastro clearly the the the benchmark engine but It was an interesting task to catch because really Miller was quick but Miller's always quick and he had some bulbs to try to have a then let has lots and lots of eight to test. I was talking with him and he was completely upset. He was Apparently he was really worried despite he was trying to hide it Yeah we would. Then you can feel that he was Not Happy at all about the performance his performance and the before especially the performance of the bike. And then they're sending off those new reattach. Yeah it just GonNa go on to that point in the case of a location so as well he. He seemed kind of optimistic. But the thing that stood up for me was he said that the the the feeling we're the bike's not there were quick but of not feeling which it was kind of an issues of towards the team's last year this didn't have the feeling on the Bacon. Kind of when is not always is not easy to see the show crashing. And he did that he did that. Yesterday was a small crash behind himself. Your heart is neck. Yeah I think they are troubled air. We'd worry it okay They say that we cannot be worried at that stage. But were that's what they say I mean they are behind the the others mm-hmm so aided there's a reason to be worried about Worried about so got three days more testing before the frustrates. So there isn't it tame really. Yes in Qatar. They've always been real repast so they will only make stay step forward but for should they are not as comfortable as they were last year. So yeah thing now which is as crucial year for cottee because A A deal have to yeah rebuilt The theme and try to. I don't know how to say that rainforest the brushing project for the future and yet they need to be to be strong because Suzuki's very strong at the moment. Both by especially sure if we but Mir has done a really good as he as well so and and of course Yamaha with them bringing or for here with A quarter are in thrown US my week being really fast then and focus show thing. Yeah do quite can be in in in In a tricky position is certainly Just going back to yama quickly coiro. He didn't sound happy with the new bakers. I was expecting. He's his law things to sort of saw which only not only had two days on even even nannies kind of doesn't quite as optimistic as as he it has been. I think I'm ready for these tests to be. I'm is not in my house on Brady. They have signed many important things last. week's Fabio if dried didn't as the twenty twenty until yesterday and the other day which means and then Yamaha Didn't have an off bikes for testing. And so even Horsey didn't try at all. The new bike not shakedown. Not Sunday so That's why I mean a thing that they wear Bettina you know. They were not ready for for they. Were still missing. I don't sometime. Oh I don't know. They signed last week or two weeks ago so and until then it wasn't clear. What by Key West Ghana champion twenty? Now Okay we know that he's going to tell me that. Twenty twenty bike right but the bike is not still not not built not ready. So that's where I think that our be on the limit Getting into I if you look at what's happened with Franken daily was supposed to be on factory machinery but he's been downgraded. He's been given the the ace back Yamaha. which is basically quickly the November Yamaha with some upgraded part? So that does sort of kind of corroborate with what you're saying is that they've they haven't had the resources and they've got totally prioritize. Maverick Racine Fabio. I think just the matter money. I mean it's business. Do you believe. Do you really believe than a company like Yamaha. He's not able to build than engines or or ten Chelsea's trying to play this game. Okay but don't forget that until they made the proposal to court seraglio and or Fabio would brush on Yamaha in order to to be a factory rather in twenty-one Fabio and Franko were supposed to write nor a factory in twenty twenty to join us put the money down for. Aw for the bake. Yes they were not gonNA write the same bike. Dan Bongino and Maverick so would have essentially been a spike bikes for the both of them. Let the Burmese that the ace Bake Bake just the name that they fought to try to computers people. Hey let me let me try to explain. Let's thing that Kotaro didn't sign the contract and he's just the'll but donors right there and next year okay. So this contract between the throne us and Yamaha was saying done they both have a spike. But it doesn't mean you know what I mean. Yeah I mean you can ride a fuck thirty by or you can and right on a big bike and their different bikes. I don't know if I can explain. I I go. You Mean Ace Bank Beast back Y Y Z SPEC. It's all meaningless really exactly this is just for the client yet. I mean let's say but in on Mary the Don Reid an ace beck or respect because they are factory so they have factory bikes the east back or just for the client but before on the past East Beck was meaning factory now. He's back doesn't mean factory because let's say that more though when we will writer. Sp Bike at the bike will be completely different completely different. The engine and the chassis will be completely different than than by Teena Marie and Fabio. We're GONNA go for a quick break but do come back because we got Katie and a bit more of Hornets talk about right. Bokan back to this week's supplying Sapang test wrap up of the tanks operas podcast and I just wanted to quickly go back to Honda because Marquez injured had a couple of crashes one WANNA turn the three on Saturday which is a fast place to go down. He said it was quite a little crush. But there's a video on more. GT GP DOT COM suggests. It wasn't as slow as movie made out to be and any crashed again on Sunday. The final corner is not right now. fool physical fitness. The bakes not brilliant. He has has pace is one. Lap Pace has been okay but again of seems like he's out. There's a lot going against mark. Maybe the confidence isn't so much there. Yeah I think that he has to go through this this stage of for his recovery so he's not feeling good now he's a difficult is a great the moment but he will go over eight and then Inkatha will be that my feeling will be much more feet and maw their shoulder will be Much better shape so back to fill mark mark myspace yes embiid more closer a bit closer to the the mark we all expect But Yeah I spoke with him yesterday he was going coming out of the CLINICA after putting a lot of ice on the on the shoulder. He told me yet name. Putting is all the time trying to reduce them. Um The sweating and yes. I is a stage that they need to go through. So we have to pass this thing We've been in three days here putting out of Energy and asking a lot from the shoulder. So let's see Ho Ho the shoulder shoulder reaction the next coming days and then start the recovery is that decides again and in Qatar thing we were going to see a completely different Karen kind of Mark Stone whole shout device a nominee. Yet that we've seen any way we've seen one for Yamaha is a DECAF go. There's rumors that Sukey will have one in Qatar. I don't know if they had one here today. I think they are working on it but days. Deal that the device Supposed to be ready here but it wasn't so Yeah I think Hana in that way is always a bit more concerned with the F. B.. They've been on their ido site site They finally had to give up and try to put out of a wings but They are a bit more conservative on that on the thing special because they can be conservative if you have Madigan and by the winner bike so you can be more more conservative but to be honest I think trump on all the rest for the other half this kind of device and it works. They have to to at least explore this way as interesting because if everyone has days and everyone starts to save and then it's not really going to be an advantage anymore. Chris Oh all that million are wasted. Buff we'll move on quick. I just touched on his Marquez. We're not too much detail top rookie about to you said. Actually today that he was they went into expected. So Alex looked great Apparently perhaps my most favorite bike of of the whole test is radically different fitness revolution. RSVP crazy F. one sale aero new engine four ninety degrees and allege a an a twelve lap steady had. They had to cut the race Ron Short because it was an exhaust problem but it was a really good stint. It was meant to low one fifty nine. I mean probably no look. Finally the decent project really a- is one of the biggest brazier of this fortunately and The only elite question mark is the reliability of the bite goes they have had large programs and than normal and this h But yet they look very happy but to be honest I would love to see their freely. A- completing their raise these stunting in Qatar which is not going to be easy. Because as I say it's the bike is completely new new project from Zito and Katy. I'm on I am avowed. They're twins twenty bike prototype since last summer. They've been working I mean Yamaha Honda Kate. The M What K. damage never ending at Lucia but Yeah they've been with bike ready much earlier than than Preah. So that's what I mean. I mean they will need time time to try to put everything together and to to work on the reliability of their of their of the element Sherzai era said. He wasn't allowed to fill race simulation because of the engine. The team didn't want him to I spoke to mass. More REVOLLO. See over player during the weekend I can do a feature. But if done at a large sane guys come from F. One COUPLA X.. Harare guys ex McLaren as well some guys come from Kassian Suzuki. KTM just quickly the bike we saw already in November November. That really cool new chassis Again Paul responded really going strong alerts that they have made a step forward Much you're sort of taken okay. TM situation positive again. Yeah I think they have been working really hard They have A. They made a step forward and I've been speaking with one of the guys and he said listen Aw we two years ago we were striking with doing one or two minute now We are but he i. We are easy in one fifty nine. I mean lab and then We we have not only one writer but We have boll evenly Beta was with us. And of course Danny Paducah was super-quick. We've seen many different gate. The embroiders being so fast. So yeah I think we're GONNA WOULD GONNA enjoy These this season with With the orange bikes while the orange blue and orange the red wags forever. Yeah indeed And not myself inury. We've got to get over here. Can go get food and showers really hot and sweaty in horrible here. Thank you ever so much much for listening We will revive varies into discuss more things motor. Jack Miller "Stoked" With Ducati Factory Ride In 2021
"Hello and welcome to the tank. slappers podcast all sport, the Motorsport Network podcast for all things to wield I'm your host Lewis, Duncan join me as ever all the way from Australia is Oriole, pushed modern motorsport dot coms to GP. Global editor and Yuri Harry doing these days. Good still here in Australia. We're looking to to season. Start talking about the season. A little bit later on. We're GONNA talk about the big news of this week which has been Jack Miller. He has no going to officially become a factory to catty raider. Factor. Team Raider. From the two thousand and twenty one season, no move that we've kind of thought was going to happen for a while, but. It's a very significant move I think because it's. As another young raider been put into factory team very much seems like there's a changing of the guard and Mogi Pena. Well I. Think it's yeah, W. Gate, it be Goja. The all riders are getting older. And everybody's getting there but especially. All. The the they're all riders are getting older so Yates Steinfeld the generation, change and I think as Jack Mueller, said yesterday, he's like I think Yamaha. studies move by signing Fabio. For Twenty one and then I do patty had to move on. I think it was the right time to give him the chance off the after what happened. With with Petrucci them the time before. Yeah. Definitely, we. We don't have good to Raider Jack. Miller as we seen. Of seeing Wehrley works within that surrounding with the Bake you know in particular last year is a really really important figure for them. In terms of development, so not only got a young talent who's has capable of winning more GP races. They've got really good development raider as well, and that's the ideal combination. Yeah I think the only thing or the main thing Jack needs to work on is to get. At on the consistency, he needs to be more more more. More solid and more often more slowly and more often. That's what Luke do. God is looking for Because otherwise it would be impossible to to reach the level. They are looking for They need like a I wouldn't say a SEC on right, but I would say somebody who? Go which closer to the Dhabi which at the moment? Is the. Top writer and he needs to be more consistent than his being in the last few years. For sure I mean. Last year we did see. A very solid season for Jack five podiums consistently in the top top top sex and moisturizers. Is Get near birds certainly as you see needs to make that step in a factory surrounded, but. Didn't think he was capable of that. They would have left him at primax Oh. You have to think that the. He's he's moving into the rate surrounding to be able to make that step with Paulo about your own dome was stove Ataur dot C with digi linear as well I. Think is the right. Choice from I think. To not make that wouldn't be fair to Jack. But by. Saying that. I would say that. I'm not expecting any big change from him. Because last year he has right on as weather with the Omar. Really. Thirty support. And we all know Jack I think he has a beat more a margin. to improve done Danilo that's my opinion and I'm I'm convinced that but. It. I mean what I WANNA. Say is that I think we are not impromptu next. Casey's donor okay. That is the interesting thing because that is beaten. Comparisons of Bemidji Austrailia on a red bake very much Casey's donor, but As a very big leap. To to be the next, Casey Stone of. Jack is a very highly rated raider. Katie was keenum. We you know he's. After. There's a wild card and the in the PAC. Let's say someone that could surprise Marquez. You would say it was maybe Jack. Is All the ingredients. He just needs to put them together. How? My question is how considering last year he has been writing. Affected, Reich as well I. Mean when I say that when I say that Jack is not the next cases When Casey arrive at the Duke at was a completely different bike than all other bikes there. And he was coming from an Honda. With different diets. and. He was scratching every time. He was I mean a lot a lot more often. Than everybody. Together. With Jack. I'm not saying that to me is one of them. Hi List. Highest dented rides in all degree. Don't get me wrong, but what I mean is that we don't have dame boots expect a huge change. Because He was having a good package nausea and he would have Z as well. I mean this year it will be good young formation about what we can expect from him next year. Yeah yeah, that's that's a very good point. We do need to see how it goes. This year and testing was quite strong for Jack but. The, interesting thing about this year as it is, said to be quite a short championship, we know it's going to be maybe ten or twelve roads, nor room for mistakes, no room for inconsistency, which as you mentioned as been a problem for Jack so if he can string together a really good season this year under the circumstances. You know that would bode well. For next year, perhaps obviously it's. Edith would need to take a then a beggar step next year on the factory team bake to challenge, Marquez. I. Think, this is very good i. mean do Kathy and. Bush Buddy. Go debate because There are two. Different I mean there are many different perspectives from Ho You approach this this equation, so do me. Again. I'm really happy that. Jack has signed for to gut the by the time. Don't forget that. Gut The was running out of options. So. He's a it's. By signing Jack the best move. For all the remaining. Options. I don't know if I can explain I south Yano. Yeah, no, I, totally get what you mean. Essentially you! You mentioned options because. There's one I mean you've said sorry. Lewis said that the was. Really keen to signing tack. But. Kate the is a completely different project than look at into Coty in the last few years has been the element of factor able to fight for the. Data until the end strove Duke Gut, the e, C, net, different path than Katie the percent so that's what I mean. Yea Yea for sure. Going back to what you said. Of the options to Cathy had We Know Paula chip told one of our own. Journalists from the Italian motorsport. Dot Com addition. It was going to be for the factory team. It would be an option would be between the five current currently contracted raiders to Cathy so mellow Davinci also by. Petrucci Zakho. The, you have to say that the biggest loser amongst all of us because. The rumors are to be believed at product that's going go to either by and Bass Jeanie or by and Hori Martine. The biggest loser all of this as as probably Zakho because he had these say ice on. Stepping up through Kathy, he's stuck of Anti essentially for the next two or three years if you want to. So I would say that the biggest. Danilo. I. Would disagree with that personally because. As well, look I think precisely. They're going to get a really good Raden mode superbikes on a very good contract. You'd have thought or he's going to end up earlier if you can't get his band, which wouldn't be a bad option I don't think for for Danny, low? I. See I see what you're I. See what you're saying about Donnie low, but I don't think he's necessarily lost doubt as much as Saku. The Way I don't know it's hard to explain. Zarko had more to gain than she had to lose. If that makes sense. If you. Say. It makes sense in my head, but I don't know if I'm getting a skin. Probably. Yeah I! I I disagree with that containing than fair enough through. She has three Guyq. Goulash! Patricia was always GonNa be. Always going to be there for one year. It was very much a filler until they got someone better not not to take not to be disrespectful to dining, but he was always no. This hundred percent agree and I wrote that many times that by signing King Raleigh one year. You are not giving him the trust the confidence. That a writer like him proudly needs. To step up into a motor indoor faculty team on the potential but At the same time. He didn't deliver. What do I do I spent she has he got his first. Win Blah Blah Blah, but He wants to par. He was far most of the Times. He was, but. Don't get me wrong and don't forget. He ended up. He ended up in a better position than Jack last year, so he was seeks Jack West eight eleven I think which is normal and understandable containing. But she wasn't right. But, that's what I mean that I am not expecting any huge change, but going back to the question. Dot West Nowhere. Imbalance last year. was home or thinking coming back to? Not. Do Di had to convince him to sign for India. We have an. Hot. Any raise yet. So. What's the point on eggs? Yeah you. I totally agree with that is no point taken? Is As. We know Sokoll had he's had this year. He was gonNA, trying to say or. Tree Bait with Promo Code Scene But as you've mentioned before Zakho does. You know that. What would you say that Darko? Go has many Let's say shocking things inside his head. Yeah! We've seen in the past. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, but for why we if there's going to be one is going to be unhappy at the current situation from. because. He doesn't like the team wherever he said. All the teams get in bear. He doesn't want to really be there he wants to be. To Cathy but. Now he's east stuck there, so yes as? Well you know. I suppose what you could. If you were beaten cruelest meanest, supposedly, you could save. Zach goes, it's. Karma really know. I mean don't forget his his pastoral Katie. I mean what it Yeah Yeah Disaster An. Detainment hone wasn't dray. Racist, but it wasn't as good as it really should have been so. Not. What I mean I mean you have to take all these important. Then try to result or to to try to get a conclusion from all of them. Show in the end. I, think that the best pinky can do is to come down and try to deliver. First, and then all the entities will come. Arrive, but he needs to deliver something. which he hasn't. Done. A is true and I always did think he's ambitions of a factories raid, or at least proud grade were. Well there were about bishops really but. Everyone has to have dreams of suppose. With with the with the. Thing. I mean it's crazy how this this market works because if I remember what happened in the indirect building last year. He was really close. There'd be out of county. He was really. Close to be pushed out. From Glamoch. For these year. But really close believe me I mean we're world that Most of the people admitted that even admitted that. And now he gets affected seat so. when I say that there are a lot of perspective different perspective. I think we have to keep it on on mine because. I. Mean Yeah, it's. It's a bit crazy than. In, let's say six months and. Then racist you go from. Being outside of the all having big chances are being out of the tide of Dad, but my current Coty. And pretty close to sign for Kate the end due to get A. Factory Cadiz it. Yeah, it's. A very good point you make and don't get me wrong than the the situation. They're in the red bull. Ring Wash to me. Stupid Committee and Oh yeah, for sure definitely. Fully agree with that as I'd like to readjust my answer of the biggest loser there because if he thanked about it. If you think about it, the biggest loser been hey Lorenzo because had he accepted the proxy chances are. Given the factory contract. Yeah? Well I think I would lie. I would love to see this happen again. I mean signing with Kelly again. I would love to see that happening. Yeah well. You never know stranger. Things have happened. And just to wrap up the decastro talk before we go through a quick break. Also talk still stalled over money, but I mean we're going to do. Is he going to walk away from to Catty I couldn't go I. Think it's GonNa Shine. Yeah, there's no, there's no. Choice relate that that's what that's what it was. It is now and it was two weeks ago and was a month ago. I mean market in the end what we would we? Complete when? Honda one Yamaha said? The deemed for Tony Twenty one with five Matvey when Honda. resigned modern for four years. So in the end. We, all know that if the duke at the end, the we want want to keep. Being that liberal? Day Arab to to shine. Forth define show why what? Do. The is not about today. Shown ghost a view. Them have money to pay well. Yeah, but it depends which started you happy if you're these two for the championship unique to try to? Get, the best possible team. And, of course, it is more expensive than having on are less competitive. For sure. We're GONNA. Go for a quick break. Do join us on the other side where we're GonNa talk about some of the calendar stuff coming up so hopefully we're going to be going race in July and we talk about some of that but yet. We'll be back in a minute. Welcome back to this week's. podcast jury is still with me. Hopefully. We're going to recede race in July Herath Spanish. Government is still to to give it. Go ahead for the plan buff. Lolita in Spain is going to pick up. An June so that's that bodes well for GP think. We've had some bakes on track this week. Katie had a private test. That bull ring, which is lovely was nice to see some video. Footage of some bakes going around the track. More than Anderson what I really enjoyed was zoned a really messed disowned of Amore GP bake. But we? We are expecting account of pretty soon. I think you're Isam. Coming along? We think British grand. Prix is going to be canceled. Australia's not gonNA under calendar. Parolee Japan as well yeah. So Yeah I. Think we. Have to expect. A European Kalinda with I would say I. down. My? proposal for for which got that Weirder we're GONNA HA. I think we're going to have to do. Yes, it will happen if we don't have any you know. A The curb keeps lead. Say fluttering or Jay. stable say these way. Try. To go for CREF. To racist than or Burleego to. Would Brody go to Austria. Would Brody go? To races. Would probably Goto. On. Would barely Watts Lona the races and probably go dwelling tier two races. That at the moment my let's say guessing A. Certain sensible. I think that that probably will be very close to where the real calendar would be. It sounds very logical, and I don't think we're going to go and Taylor December I mean probably the first weekend of December, but not nothing Christmas. Because I think they. They have realized that the we need this season to start only decision to finish, you know. The best possible way, and then we need to focus and they need notice but. They door now and if I am and themes and everybody needs to focus on trying to recover these like new normality. For, next year. Bedford Amien. And I think it's the yet damore logical move because at this point i. don't see any. Racing happening this year. Does Not bind from Konami, point of view from the media point of view from the I mean daily. Daily would be. But don't forget, Don at nighttime is not like they have crazy numbers. It's a good point you make about the overseas racism. Eating financially doesn't make sense. TV doesn't make sense. You know there's a lot of risk going overseas as well with the virus. Until the virus tellers, the vaccine going overseas is going to be risky, so it's not worth it rate not really does know nothing to be gained yet. It's the risky. To be there because then it is much more difficult to control. All the people from the paddock. which researchers would be really really really? High. With this new medical protocol because they. They cannot take any risk by making the. Going up again, so Yeah, that's why thing because I mean. We have to have a clear mind and by doing it's race. It means a huge risk because you have to control. He amount of people more than thousand people. Going around and you have to keep them under control. Each machine which means that I mean vertical. It's crazy. I've seen the protocol and he's really really crazy I mean the people from one team. Is Not allowed. They are not allowed to talk with another team. That's one of the things. They are not allowed to go anywhere else from the track to the hooked up for beholden to the truck Internet, specific data. They cannot show it is. It is crazy, so if you overseas? It's much more difficult to control the staff year as you say that it would be difficult to draw me if we take as an example. You know the hotels. Hotels aren't not on is closer to circa. Are Some places to paying? You know so and you've got you say the two main hotels and Supine or the to airport hotels, but the. The other side of the airport, so. Really really would be really difficult to antenna. Yeah and Brody are. Two of the most expensive hotel there, so you have to reach a deal with the hotel, because otherwise it. Most of the deemed specialty multitude monetary cannot support. the rate show. Yeah, I! Think is not easy is not easy, so I'd say that European in that is the most logic gotTa. Think will happen. Yeah, definitely, the interesting thing I spoke to Wayne Rainey a couple of weeks ago. Mortar America, president of course, five hundred CC legend. And he was telling me the plans to America. Go put in place for their return, and they're actually working quite closely with Dorner working directly with Dorner to to share data to share information to formulate the plans. And some of the stuff they were talking about. Lake you say none of the team speaking to each other. Marshals not traveling around the circuit one corner. There's none of the team. None of the track staff no-one interacts. Know. Paddock is space to lot waiter. The teams won't even be allowed into pit lane until the session their session starts. They're going to have to work from the Paddock and. Number of personnel will be banned will be cut rate down on wall so. As you say a lot of things and. The for some things as well. The I never even considered being a problem lake collecting passes that sort of thing for the product. That's had to be completely rethought to make safe. You know so it's there's a lot little things that need to be addressed as well as the main issues like you say, it's very very complicated. Situation Yeah Yeah I mean I mean don't forget that the. With, not had before so any in a way. It looks like we are in a in a film. So. even in our day by day. Life which means was here in Australia. We are a bit more. Yeah, we have. The regulations are a bit more flexible than in Europe because Demont cases are much lower, but in Europe. I mean most of the people. have. Like in a in a film in a movie. So. I would say that that scenario that they're gonNA face in a racetrack. Week completely Yes different and full of surprises. Despite? They're gonNA try to have everything, set and ready. I. Will have. A huge surprise it which will be good to write it down and maybe after write a book. I tell you. This that's I was thinking about this. The other day because I was I was working on a updating. Book for a company. And this season is GonNa be so strange to to look back on and explain to people how we went racing, and you know you know why we had. Two races at is. This is going to be strange to to talk about in ten twenty years team, but. I suppose it's a little bit history to be lived through so. I always look on debris, suppose. Yes, I think it would be with multi billion with the the normal life I mean these would be yeah. Completely different and and Goto remember for the yeah for sure, but the the most important. I say the most important. More important things in life, but the most important thing for us is. We are getting closer to Gordon. Racing plans are being put in place and sensible. People are Putin plans into place so. I have for the first time in quite a few weeks. I have a lot. A Lot. Hope that we're going to see race in this year. So I think I think that an in the last recently in the last hours the Spanish government has sent Yes, they'd been underlining. Hall important the motorcycle. Will the motorcycling world is? For Spain, which means it clear signal that they are trying to. do the best their best to make this happen. Especially in in then, let's see how the holiday things go, but I think it's important that the most important thing is that we need this season to start. Coming back is the is is the per step. Trying to get back to normality. Yeah, this is exactly what we in rainy said to me was that it was one of the most important things for Motoo America was to. To give people that hope. People stuck in. Say the there is a chance there is a way that life can return to normal and. I think this is the most important thing about getting sport, not just more. GP All sport back in some capacity, because people need something to grasp onto to to get them through this really difficult time cause. Spent eight weeks we've been a knock. Don't and it's been incredibly difficult for so many people, so we can give them some sports something to look forward to. That's that will change the situation for everyone completely. Yeah, I would say. It would be to give people something. To lead a rescheduled, their lives and sport is a really good. let's say I. Dunno Addenda or you know a very unifying thing. Yes, I mean everyone loves sport. Whatever is everyone loves sport so I would say a good thing to show next next weekend. We have a race or next Wednesday. We have a applicable game or an ex. You know what I mean or Denise so which means that the every body would be able to escape a beat from this nightmare. Yeah, for sure and to be honest, I. Think people have had enough of sports when you give them something proper to the. Proper. Yeah I. Think they yes I. Mean. Let's say that crashing in sports It is. Yeah Mall, let's say. Easy or light to handle than crashing in a real. Base Yeah for sure. On that no Melendez there may thanks. For joining again, my thanks to listeners as well. We hope you enjoyed that story. What's this crisis done for the APP accusing of of major manufacturers to invest in? This fool shows needs. I guess you'd serves as defender Aspect of this question. I mean there is a short-term shop. Wbz sites a trench for everyone for for all companies for for viewed to Motif but also fauna and ability. A of sectors. So I think shutdowns a obviously We like to To Mitch impotent. Put them to make sure that the research cash requirements. So that we can you know. Focus on the as Arias of the business and I guess you'd also I to see what would be a Length and duration and magnitude of the crisis which opinions did radio From an-and just chief of economic Chief and therefore I think it was important to materials that Wednesday reserve Adjust to to to the circumstance. So I don't think that the appetite disappeared. Yunos reason why must built was making sense for San? Maybe less sense photos Osteo Vanita but it was put to to seize Abode of a Unsettles end solutions to to the situation which which has been the case for being from obviously to mentioned. The history of the first ran racing. Cars were pretty much year to of of Renaissance Foundation Weatherman back in Eighteen Ninety S. So you have well over a century of racing in the brand. It's it's very much in the DNA of the company. Does that count for a loss? You contemplate the future. Yes I think so. I think if you look at what. Brands are doing Both in terms of exposure or wellness but more importantly differentiation in Batticaloa. When you're mainstream comics but also in in inviable statement you want to have a appear not as to why a consumer should be interested in your brand in your product What's in your DNA in your history and your legacy accounts to a certain degree much more than anything else Some people actually build a event and history to these don't sheds himself from brands in that segment and we all very lucky to to agree to a of being Don't forget that one of the Doha Massive died in a Embarrassed Madrid rebate tribute to Since Day One as you mentioned we've been informative one since the seventies we've been loyal to Formula One As we think you'd important to stay true to your roots to where you're coming from to your history not just because of loyalty but also because it means something that that you can affect who are to today's tomorrow's customers as nfc needs to be of of agreable strategy. We've product marketing G weaver industry people would bring Abyssinia in continuously evolving in oil Girls in your European chemical than dot of the worldwide audience Regrets agree on not as to where we conform and what we stand for and models both as as a unique value it contribution in intuit's at why we believe in tweets just like we leaving the Nobel fizeau market senior activities except that it spot except he's been of dignity that's emotional soul to all of that means a lot and that's why we've been in these for the get in into saw So it looks like we're very claims to getting a few on Route. Package agreed Regulations a blueprint of commercial rights. Giving forward do you think they are. What's needed might feminine a viable this model manufacturers. Ya think so. I think it's a much Bill Business Madera. In my opinion if condition was good enough for her on factors to join US built into spat into best is it would be even better To Moreau Weaver. As you mentioned a financial distribution of budget job we've also contains amps race on the on engine development or that is pointing in the right direction. Fossils were I ever film belief in into that. I still believe that the of entry to get as bad yet getting to Formula One is is fairly high so it would probably a Sayyah Sutphin king and commitment from someone who's not in the Scott to decide to get into sport but really for people who are in the decision to stay Ease Obviously at much easier than than it used to be. And that's what that's what we need. We need first to have a strong spelt. Incident was botany to keep the gipper while in the spot and see what can be done in order to attract multiple but in that area We need to a beach but the festival. Jesse was to make sure to keep your origins. What more could a fun to make it at a no brainer manufacturers? is no longer allowed. Julius Marketing is actually essential pop. A right call against the fisted amount would be to demonstrate. We've act what we've been talking about since years. Because claiming the pfister adobe about Budget gap which was zero resource restriction. Agreement that the back of the financial crises. Because in the night I mean that's so it's years twelve years of work so I think we need to see that decided the Nc guess result of that. If we see that we can moving to on twitter just stem to a want justice. Damn if we can the as the racing Exciting that you have a Grunstein that the food that you can get to reasonable budget for this for this marketing platform and for all older us at. I think it would be a nice demonstration right now. I think it's a. It's maybe a bit too cervical and I think We need we need to show that again. I think the price of bridging get in particular from the engine side is is expensive raising the new data that we have been walking on a bill measures as I was mentioning to reduce Bend on the engine site but again the Intrinsic Yet. Shawmut in this box already is extremely high so the next generation of Kgo who needs we have and just being really done in relation to that may have to take on these agreements to attract monkey. Business built join the coast. Costa this lockdown crisis have been on the build up to this new rules package of embarrassment theories and ideas been bouncing around. One of them was the debates around allowing customers. 'cause for short period of time to help the smaller F one teams regain their footing. What did you feel about that idea but it was also praised I I'm not a much better gina unless I think I think he's just two things I mean I on one side it's public Agreed using reason they she to do so but I see that as a as a batch as a as a fix razon the Zenda Clean Solution. Continue to see that in the spoke that highly skewed while the amounts of how many GonNa meet. Bisbee to you. Let's not forget as the final Upside of affirming well in the spot ice Jalousie in a interested. Gm A very dangerous constructions at Cana Gez the spots based Playing fields and defense of the sports action could distort competition in a way. That can be dangerous again yet. GonNa meet indication that that the Hacienda. So as out we've grown business besides MEDALLA extremely At least it would probably maintain the to Jesse stems that. I was mentioning privacy which I think people out don't really like to see. I know it's being built a Formula One in the histories or on the changing the well. That's but if to keep the software things that we need to to to leave behind think anyone wants as both and does a judge a chance to win anyone. A watching a formula. One race should have an opportunity to be surprised. We've was winning the rights. Which is not the case now. Which when the case we've we've customer estimates managements so again good beautyfix could be fixing the future I don't see that as a as a popular solution to one thing that this crises in Vistula is doing Things they went but besides Upped the WSB swing testing things. Like I don't know Hawaii but component time Formula One is being to to move wild deneen dictator that we are developing and Roseanne construction between events which is not good for suspects. Guesstimate teams having Berating together and developing what's best components for meets a fantastic web much better a much more efficient much than the customers coverage. Minoa a much more instead of the teams in place to factors again as we potentially fight on the restart. How different things going to be me? Let me get going again. Things aren't going to be exactly the same as fully crisis again because actually we have this tweaking. The infinity engine manufacturer. Saddam was shorter by two weeks on the ZOYSIA shutdown. So we started on Monday. And it's it's strange. He'd stranger because afford safety measures at the needs to be a place also after such a such a long break in the not day but the fellow the D. countries on the be difficult to get people into the mood and the mindset of those racing again. Thinking above a Steph will already happy to be back but still a little bit know a puzzled about to what what what what about. I think we need to be honest. I mean what what's racing in the context of that? What we I think. We need to Hopefully sees that crazies portfolio way Yvonne Agreements and a middle of the materials. And maybe that really that will last beyond beyond craziest like removed working on so felt but indeed a beautiful of shook effects at says that's needs to be a to put behind. We need to find new ways of working but still maintaining what we are here. Full maintaining competitiveness of organization enough factories Balancing that we that we need to finding it may be one of the active in the business of the teams of the guys on track. Would be a Wuss. Be gettable of a ticking on bulbs those new measures of new ways of working new contexts. And that's interesting The new interesting putting Mega PM. So some people view top level metrics time platform some peop- involved because it drives technology in has white at benefits. Now we're coming out of this crisis. You think that balanced changes will fight needs to shift one directionally think people will continue to be granted. They meant that we've seen a you know the platforms consumption of the platform during that loved. Donald. You know Netflix Arizona. Presold Shannon's being a being a tree launched and developed a at the right end we shunning content and entertainment of inexpiable team. People talking about is fault of Built as a good complement to Formula. One and what? The people exciting about in east built is to see. Acura racing driver compete Athletes or celebrities as accomplished Activities could beat in his Bolton. So what is both as as being able to offer Access to to to racing? I mean we can listen to the of drivers King. Tweeter out to their engineers Much we can doing the actual racing and movies at of takeaway so. I'm not as people thinking that it's all going to change. A things at the new world will be message from the previous world things about his sons and learnings for the politics and will give that to them to take a thing for us. A things at this race for efficiency. Resolution racing full of for financial sees is a great formula. WanNa goes into direction of what we need. And what people want to resent a would again talk about this collaboration. That people were extremely surprised. Excited about the lane in the UK. We had A in France where her engine activity? Geo Engine Bays collaborated to develop some ventilators. In at the time. You know what we can doing years. Some of those amounts familiar when we can do in weeks and vis a vis statement has been demonstrated again. We've act we've these type of product Eh. So maybe seeing more of corporation in Formula One Roseanne We are competing against each other them. Removing at me to stay but finding a way of teams to maybe Beat Bob could probably would be one lesson of that crisis and seventy some things at the fan generation that wants to see more corporation between companies between between nations would like to see to see moving Formula One and again We may have in the in the new deal of homework to do this type thing. Obviously the renaissance was another early. Adopter on on forming Arabian has been the big big driver of the electric mobility seeing when it comes to racing. Obviously there's been a move anyway. Towards developing electric seeing battles said the decarbonisation of of racing had will and the this crisis you impact on attitudes of manufactures. Light Rain. Wed focused that investment in the future. Do you feel that this sort of we've got through this crisis? There's another even bigger crisis the side which is climate change. It has to be addressed insurance. Yeah I think so. from transferring Unease not going to go away is going to accelerate in Batticaloa weaver. You Know Reza Comedians at the house at the again that year by in utimately secto twelve. What's most G so so yes I mean clearly yo from new needs to keep on teens a direction that it's been the case in two thousand nine we've Into Jan than twenty fourteen. We've these needs. I think we need to do a better job in marketing. Formula One imitations without so fest realities here but the messaging is To do much of that stop despising the engine technology in what's rate about seats and stops in kings next generation as I was mentioning one of the things that we would agree that we need to start planning for her. What'S THE NEXT GENERATION OF KGO? Eight fourteen twenty sixteen. Some that are twenty five and twenty six missing from so we need to start planning and that's needs to be A zombies. We should not have medic approach to Sir only Internet Commissioner Gina fully. Effing this I breathe. Mix that we have no good Meeks can shift a bit mall. Twelve Education Debbie so much value in formula. One that when we continue to drive a recent as you mention a Hani Sandwich and would familiar one day. And that's G tweet. We have which are not do formula. Innovative cost efficient way. We've we've Nissan is a youtube. The that we've developed a number of sticks with is formula ones that and then be transferred into into one saw into family. That's why I think Formula One would continue to drive innovation. We continue to drive technology. We need to make sure that it's continue to in the right direction. Very discussion about the biofuel sustainable shoot. I think it's it's great opportunities. We need to see that again in that immunity mic shows at the. It's a event in quincy stunts. We've what manufacturers and petroleum companies once on doing in the future against. Anita's movie is not going to go away. Even if as West we're consuming the beauty of agrees to change Requirements in the be is not going to disappear so Confidence again at the solutions sale. The crisis speculation renos future in spike in Paris in February said things validates. It's Sipho regarding future. You more optimistic. How has this crisis Chinese perceptual message? You getting offseason liquid may about Renan's featuring photo off to this. I am not giving any sense at all because he has joined the Compania yet as you know but it will vary sooner. Be Off of what we do. Sure signally we know so that would be a continuity between alterman intimacy. Oh she stay on as the your so the decision and the discussion we're having we ought currency or you. That both remain Abyssinia. That it's I. Manage continued is very important for what we do but for everything is that annoys is doing a local. Indeed we know that we're facing changing situation. I think it's as mentioned studio toady to measure Rio Implication of crisis says have been done by Ninety percent in inference last month for the abuse reason the people can come get out. I wonder how we manage to to ten percent of of So let's let's be honest you know. It's a major crisis so difficult to do. Not what would be really the effect but having that Christiana or the things that are you know better financial but bitcoin from price fan. Noel budget gap. We vote above the actual gap. Nevada between not secrets would be much lower than it was. And we've been pushing for years for this type of figures was Will be at will probably be a very good for us. Very close The level at which we've been operating so that good again we've been able also to push for containing crazy development race on the engine and speedy insane. What we've been spending engine and finally that's going to change so You know it happens at what crazy has done you know. I don't want to talk about the paternity when we talk about a crisis this on with so many casualties or around the world but the fact that voice as a find anybody heard as maybe a voice that representing commonsense and so again votes needs to take place. But I'm confident that if the business case was good before it's only bits on now we again just need to make sure that the the effect of the craziest would containing timing magnitude and beyond the budget cap. Do you think these this outlines regarding dr a salary cap could be important as well for ensuring that feige. Simultaneous time costs on shifted away from cost spending drivers observe. The you know we. We all know that. It's just a balloon Squeeze on the one side year. He's going to to shift on the other side. So we're going to squeeze on chassis expenditures. Ibiza there was a risk on engine expenditure which has been contained Lavelle still believes that we need Extent which would probably be a budget gap on the engine activity and the next area will will be a drivers That set needs also to be a controllable of sports than that We are arguing another teams. We have to live a hundreds of people doing that on one side. We've ordered social implications for which really we we feel we As to what teams are going to have to doing the next few months and at the same time continuing to have a an amazing information on on the driver driver gust from. It's it's unfair. Makes no sense you know talking about you know being unreasonable about their salaries? Doing the thing. In my opinion would be easier would be a Again the discussion going on about that. But we've been pushing misuse We would be heard like we've been heard on the rest well on this subject. To of drives in Formula Jive is subsidy. The News last week with Daniel. Moving on w twenty nineteen didn't work out white you will. He hoped it was going to. Do you feel that download? I way this is laid out fest and foremost. Ap's won most season once that doesn't even started and one season that is likely to be very dense. We've W Dale three but it may be for four races in a row so Remained that we have one year to a one season two together and we. We expect more out of the season than last season. That was before I'm a bit disappointed because I don't think that you can build a anything without that goes fell drivers that Truthful Rice of your Asian. We add lots of changes last year. Weep seventy percent of all staff have in change of management or how structure up to Saudi Batman new dig equal director head of a whole new engineering or. Does that happen less twelve months? He's got change would have liked to to seize adds to Fiji. The result of that will knows that there is a bit of latency addresses a result of that before her going to into the action of the driver changing the driver shuttle and then I'm surprised at the the the the activities of up to Formula One team a pushed to sort of fresh decision. And we've decided not to I mean and and to to stick to a planet or plan of riches to make a bigger if we had a bit the Gallus steer probably we will admit yes. You need Question that was a bit of God will be able to attract any driver in the future. So that's off as that's been a priority the new immigration than you'd have been appropriate jeep siblings. The future of has been Is made his decision. We're moving social structure now in terms of replaces in budgets under under pressure. You Guy for big lifestyle like Alonzo Vatalo Bossasso do you guys for a youngster. Trump. Build LONGER-TERM WE. We've not done the race. We've not done a decision. We've done the wing. The desks are offense was encouraging budgets. Just to test for me as I'm speaking. I don't know the competitiveness of Coca we order of on this but until we've known the POLKA qualifying run we don't note and that's typically compete as the goal which is a representation of competitiveness of the New People that we have and defaulted properties of. We want to put money. You just have no indication that they want to have before before I rush into decision so opposition is a position about the takings of thank to be properly informed to make sure that we make Rights decision because the next decision Andre there would be an important one reason drive rejoin US twenty twenty one St Fall. One industry to react quickly and to make collective decisions for the French. Coast which we have not used to it that. Act The vaccine quick pretty, but collectively yama knock you know and we read the Soma gender because it's completely different the. Senior citizens more day. Or business are working to find a different ways to this so a. Code but everybody got into Saint. Aubin or the hold woes missing Oberlin. Epidemic going on, and we need to get out of the game. So. I think he put this together and be banged all together and came out a little bit more united for the time. Being I don't know how long it will last. A, let's see that. In what the Joe Denise that? Often. Businesses, we have too much on the edge. Any little distraction takes off the edge. You know which is good, you know we don't have any so fueling the dunk. And off data for just one year a finkel everything. You're just not thinking that. Fainting that anything that could be a bump on the old. You're just thinking. It's smooth sailing all the way. That's interesting what you say about about being on the margin because when we spoke with Alejandro Gag earlier in the series, he was saying he thought one of the big problems was just generally a lack of. Term Planning Do. You feel now that we need is a spoke to stop. The really long term future that wet weather sports going on the long-term Flat Formula One. What would some of the key elements of that beef view I think before I think on the long term. We need to think on the Mido. I think three so by to show off, though now need to think on the meadow, and then the lancome coming after, but I think we as you say beneath a little bit more into the future and. I mean some steps now with the budget. Come at least you know it. You can spend more than that money. Because before the day. I mean this principle for every business before before it whilst I. If you plan to anybody doing an if one game is a is was like how how long is a piece of of? How much money do we need to do this? I mean community because that's no limit know there's no limitation to a how much you can spend as much money as you go and debt. Budget Cup of these. Beg You do a? You do some planning you know. This is the maximum you would spanked, and then you can decide Can I get there need to budget? or Give most ability mainly to the small of things I think the next thing is coming our UFM contract. will be a little bit more equal with Hamas antiquated but A. Lot more equipment for the small deems equally Bingham. Bigger themes weekday it device on so That could help sway for me. And I. Think, that's a lot of initiatives going into moment, but he shouldn't take our eye off and not just thinking how he managed the next crisis because you said how we meet Longo. How thankful than? Again collectively be have sit down walking for each of us. How hard is it being few personally to manage the last few months dealing with issues, probably never thought you'd experiences as team boss like furloughing staff and making some pretty tough financial decisions. I mean it's difficult. But. It's part of the joke in Armenian Across for my office dine dolphins dime in management. To make decisions and. I'm. The unknown we didn't know. Do we go back Facie Bendigo? Go back facing. If you go back, Luke like also you never have a fixed budget, drug twig and you. Still, don't know about that. You know you know a bit, but you still don't know and because if you know what what you had to achieve and what you can do. Is I mean it's really, but it's not because you don't need to. Guess guesstimate, you can just say. Hey, this is what you've got to do with best, and then you can manage it, but. Are not the most difficult form and it is. Difficult to manage something you don't know and you guys know that as well. If you don't know, how can manage best, you know it's like yeah. I guess I. Hope I get to talk or use my experience to do. And hopefully get out. Good the Dan. What are the key lessons taken from this period? And do you think any of any of those will be carried forward into how you approach your job in Formula One after this? Yes and I agree. Go back before I made sure the data that we give ourselves a little bit more margin in everything we do if you have got the. What That person and we as an industry. Don't forget how Bernabei are. Actually business involved I. Want you know so? We don't have to forget that. Because then we can look always plan something. Wait a moment. We need a ten percent awesome here. You know what we do if it goes home so I think that the whole below and. Then everything goes stood again. It's very easy to forget because you the arms from again. The background peachy again. Crisis always equals opportunity, but it also equals always a lot of risk. It looks like you've managed to skirt. Round the risk as spoke for now. And there's a lot of people who were saying Oh. You Know Formula One is much stronger from this without really defining what they mean by that, but. Do you actually. Are you a glass half full guy on this respect him. Do you believe that the sport actually can emerge from this stronger? Yes I believe EDYTA again. It'd be said. Before became to get and decided them on on the Budget Capello one, and this is a good initiative decided Berry creeped. Next the comic I'm going to design a new, so we did some things which we go DOA. At the the twenty two relations should make it at a car. I don't say Gee Bo because nothing is cheap along. Come home, but never be cheap. You know a little bit more efficient, effing a little bit more cost efficient. But I, think know somewhere. Now beneath to make sure that we don't forget about the good times defrosting history do let's discuss about baking the Budget Cup up again, you know. Or take it away. I don't think it will happen, but I would keep it in my mind. The shouldn't be doing it, and that is how become how stonewall what you ask if I think. Outvoted because if you get to yet is that you know that they're not complete. No, I'm not speaking generally coup because we haven't gone by using ETHICA compete calendar. I'm very optimistic. Touch pass for that. We get to the chief and. Dumping. Can just see. Everybody didn't include that by. Owning teams equals like guy to get out of this and radiating out of this is to gus helpful. So it's interesting, because obviously we hit with the budget cap. The some of the smaller teams yourself included Actually it won't necessarily make a difference your spending, but at least you now know there is an upper limit, and of course, the other teams that were spending more that something that they've got to to work, too so this whole approach, this whole new deal approach that was kind of fundamental to get to this point. It, but it sounds like you're not one hundred percents. Show that it's Kinda here to stay you WanNa make sure the that's locked into this forward, right? Absolutely entities locked relations. They established through FAA financial relations between bad before, so the distinction before in Denver, we could discuss that people a budget company place a six months ago. Be couldn't take no of that because there was nothing in place, but going back to the budget cub. You say as you said the reaching that point. Yet, hopefully in the future will be can, but the good thing is if you see it like this in the moment before the budget. But just a moment because there's no vodka is that it got? The big themes is about between Hamilton fifty million for a small team, if you will be made between ca fifty. Is Not the good step I would say yes. It's not been equalize it yet, but it's a good stead. Could use. By. Five Times which I think it's it's. It's a big achievement most of that our day, isn't it? I mean the operational side of things is more or less assign from team to team, so the differences their ability to make a demonstrably foster carbon you basic. Corrected and he sources in development, and doing just a a making developments that had a big. If because going basing scuffling the same for everybody, you know, it's a little bit up and down five percent difference, depending which state but the Costa Anyway outside, but at the cost despair despair pasta off the saying because we use. Awesome at the same amount can know so, but the big thing you say is the development that just. CanNot be a big advantage? Investing a lot of money for that is small gains because demolished there anymore demons the Mondays, there you can spend. You think enough's being done to give the smaller teams and more encouraging future that. You've got a chance of good success, maybe not. The next year, but longer term. Never not be done. Pretty well. Because! He's never know. Waiting and beat the big number of competitive. So that you. Know. I think that. I think we need now to do outside a little bit something smaller things. We need to get to this new that the if you get to the cost how Max went debt, they need to jump into I. Yes, so they can get sponsors. Safe payments. At Christ money, so it is a little bit down to. He cannot just wait. For somebody gives us something but. If, you have any ideas how we can get hit. I'm only A. Bill to? Wouldn't have come up with. The delight these Era Development Allinson rules the way they've got a sliding scale of performance. Would you like to have seen reverse grid racing this Ya. Who is a nice rule I think an e should get us, said before he get more Christ money and established a everybody everybody. Can we need a little bit exaggerating, but can be competitive. And The second question was about the reverse grid idea. Would you like to see that trial? Do you think is a bit of too much gimmick? I'm completely appreciate. Got The opportunity never had to assist in the same place. That's a first off. A week after week or was it? The to mix the feed. I think he would have been a good opportunity to try it out and see how it works, and then we can decide if it's a gimmick. You like it if you don't die, the die. I'm always prepared to guy something, but always we. Need to be coming off to say if it didn't work that you're marketing. Stop on its say because we tried to. You have to do it now. I want to prove myself right. He your diet twice this year. Good up of humidity's. after ACIS and then A. Listening to the be per se. And then say hey, is it broke? Right to? If it is if it is a gimmicky, could be I, don't know, CBF. If addition I give me for Formula One. Let's don't predict. Don't do it again because we are not going to do this again. In future radio way out of it is on dusty. Let's talk about introducing to over the normally so A. For this keeps, your producer surprised surprising set for I would have voted for yes. I remember as two thousand and five Japanese that was effectively almost like a reverse. Greg Rice shoemaker Reichen Alonzo coming through from the Bat. That was pretty exciting, wasn't it? You do need the race track for that's the here. Yet it's always always that. If you look at it over special circumstances, do stinks. You know as you say you do it. The Monte Carlo he could be. Over to Monte but again if you try it and be no, and then became, decide having a right, not only making simulations and. assumptions. So a lot's been done. Gunter interesting to know what more you think could be done and also. Do you think we're now going to be a? We are actually going to get away from this to tear Fomento on. A. I don't think we go away. State away I. Don't think that will headman. Expecting twenty bit with everybody is equal. I think he predicted a few years because the advantage to begin, said Fidel resources stay deputy. Good, you know so. It's not going to epidemic of to spend the money, but it's also knowledge. If you will cost you any educational knowledge we have got you know knowledge. They acquire over the last. Twenty years so I. Think sit at the. BACK IN THE END A. John Jones said because just make of cost of calm. Then you get you there. I mean it's ubiquitous. Maybe not doing that isis the Johnston to. Listrik! John's not just Ikea. One that you need to be fortune up into the right Democrat, I that you make it you, so I think it would not have next year and I don't think he would ask me twenty two much. Wishful. I think what we can do in the moment of think, we just need to stay on cost to do what we decided to do. Not that I have too much again that the getting privileges out of the biggest teams because big on a day to day today are more by with one vendor, smolder themes, and and just keep it like this. But we decided that just. Pop really that is the first step you need to do. And then by go along and learn things. We should not be afraid to say hey. This is our aim, but more could be now after a block on something because somebody has to do. So but I think also. Changing Eddie governments at the majority. That would persuade that such a thing would not. Gene has is a race. Only yen's is racing categories for success in results. Do you think there's enough on offer now for him to be encouraged? By a future and phone one. I think so in the moment it looks like. Your waiting, including him go to go back, facing and NBC, but the. A. Tough time in Bab been been because what we're GonNa, do a thinking moment it'd be now need to focus. Go back facing and see what we can make alcoholic. Applicable overseas overseas to be at some stage, also to get to these sites. In. Owning beneath to show that this will happen and then his long term commitment. We come from that one. You know if you make this work. This say, but we just discussed. That this Modine can get Tom Opium than I'm. I'm very sure that state if it doesn't work out than if we just played, politics made its stage yet enough of it. Women Gabe racing? It's going to be fairly intense. We've got going to triple headers on the bounce with very little time between them. How hard is it going to be managing productions? Parts Development Keeping your staff. Mentally, straight Nazi tied. I think let's the staff everybody was Egypt. Go back towards because a for Azo. Who loves what he's doing an not to do anything for three months and Russia for beverage at of own our beat up looking photo on the Watson. A pleasure, not knowing what's going to happen because as A. Be No. Come specs UCF, team comes back is yet so going back? Now acing, it's good for them. A scene light at the end of the tunnel. They will be motivated to keep it on. You know so I think it will be complaining a lot less than they would have complained a year ago. I mean to be honest. You know and and I think that this genuine because the it's not playing sailing there. There rebels. No, there was no buffalo ever had that was no emergency exit here. You know we just need to do what you're doing. And head down and roads spam box in our position, and I would say eighty four of. For sure mount coming more and more ACIS, speaking old at work last week at. To make sure that you have gotten off for. Just a racist which keep coming a week to week and Spoke because advantages, you're planning any updates in the near future, so we just need to injure make a commitment. Law passed really need to say box later on in the year so via spam twice. The concerned to meet that all of. US You. Know, but it's all in hand. Hopefully can do something about the copes. At the do much damage they are because everybody is fate of that one, especially having older banks. And financial aspect of it, so I can get dome that Kabuki from fast otherwise. Ebid won't be up with you. Don't stay up us. Just stepping back and taking over all those of us who've been in this for a long time, you know. Would not have believed that we could be in this situation that we have as you mentioned in this in this coal, you know majority voting a realistic budget caps a form of handicapping. In formula, one and these things have been achieved that we perhaps never thought we'd say. How important do you think? How instrumental in this do you think? Liberty Media Fai on the Sean Todd have been Africa spawned the both very one I I say a daring the so difficult position because. We have. Become A. Complete different objectives not complete between the Danes, but that is a lot of Gu said there's complete different businesses and they. They know they can make everybody happy. I mean it's. It's just impossible. A because you're so different, so they needed to find a compromise that everybody is just a little bit on copy and think they found a compromise i. mean must have made the. Chase and and John Bibby dictate. Because it is a very difficult job, so mean. They diminish to be. In top level motorsport particularly Formula One is still viewed by some people. As an entertainment. As entertainment platform, whereas others increasingly saying it's demonstrates a sense of purpose. especially you know things like diversity things like developing technologies for Automotive Society for the future. decarbonising eventually, etc. Do you failed that? That position has changed all? What's how's your own position changed on that? Let me go back to looking at the medium and long term of formula. I think before before about a looking at all of sustainability locum this stuff and then Dipa me. I mean. He overdosed a little bit about that. We took our. And for obvious eastern studies at priority is Mitch. We need to focus on that and I think that would be. I simple. Model Bendigo than you normally has more of that. Because maybe see just slowing down. How everything came back I mean it's amazing. You know if you look at it, so I think we have more focus on the sustainability and become ah in. Sweat a being socially responsible that it would. Be. Extra! Okay well listen. We really appreciate you making the time and presumably the whole time you've been in lockdown over there in the US. You've had a Netflix's crude just following around the kitchen every step of the way of you. Know. Happy to be on my own. We Wont Rush F1 Fans Back To Circuits: Ross Brawn Interview
"Hello welcomes the PUCK podcast. You Heist them. On the show today we're bringing you an exclusive conversation for me. One sporting boss Ross brawn ladies interview in off thinking forward series. Sports Network President James. Allen spoke to Ross the plans of funding. They get a form racing in twenty twenty are the FAA conference. They discussed the challenges of organizing the new plan I eight races of the two thousand twenty season, the rise in sports, and it's important during lockdown. Various complications that still surround filling in the remaining gaps on the Formula One conduct, Bruce Voices, his hope that is new spirit of collaboration between the FAA Formula One and the teams as a result of the coronavirus crisis spoke about the new series of changes. Aminu the new budget will continue into the future. We hope you enjoyed this episode. Just give us an idea of the scale of the challenge that you were faced with to get from one restarted pretty massive challenge and A huge logistical exercise and I think the thing we've. It's obvious, but we've discovered as it changes every day. the situation around the world is changing every day. Situation with this virus and pandemic is every day. And the understanding of it always changing every day, so we going to be very. Nimble with a group that are working on it to adjust our approach as we go along. the thing we have to really take into account is where. an unusual sport in how? International we are and we have to ensure that for more on sets a good standard, the highest standard as we traveled around the world we can't. We can't just drop into lowest common denominator of where we are some countries, overseeing better place and others. we have to have the highest standards. So we. WERE WELCOME WHEREVER WE? That's been one of the key objectives. What are the key building blocks to successfully putting the new candidate's together? Say it's different. The situation is different. Throughout the world and I think the fact that we were prepared to accept. Close races and the early season gave his more opportunity. That's not the ideal. The ideal for any schools. Because the the fans is such a crucial part of it, but. we felt the going racing and the raw costing racing and engaging the fans racing in what ways they could was still. Much more desirable doing nothing so approaching close fatness events gave us the bulk of the European season a close. We can adjust that as we progress and. We come to understand. Where we are with this pandemic, so I first half of the season European base was still pretty food on the second half. I think we're confident. We're GONNA. Finish in Bahrain and Abu, Dhabi. It was filling in the space between. So obviously, our audience today is primarily made up of the national sporting federations. ASEAN's around the world. What some of the learnings that you can share from from the top of the payment if you like with our national sporting authorities well I, think motor racing the nature of motor racing and. Racing goal the world, and if I think back to what the objectives teams are. The meticulous approach, the to both logistics and engineering and procedures and protocol is what we've transferred into our approach to dealing with this challenge. And working very closely with if I. We've come up with the protocols and codes of practice that we need to apply so I think it suits. culture suits philosophy of. Through every scenario. Plan B. Plan C. When you see. Racing anything teams done a fantastic strategy that strategy is. Tied on the pit wall is what type back factory days or even weeks before, and that's what we have to do. We have to look at every scenario. And developed all our ideas beforehand. And we will. We will live and learn h, Ray, a NASA nature for modest, very military like this birch, safety and medical accidents have always been right at the happened well particularly for the last twenty thirty years of Formula One. How important was that? When telling the story to sort of health ministries of governments around the world about to give you the confidence that gives them the confidence to to let you put on races in that country's. Absolutely crucial and I think this is where the FIFA been. Instrumental whether the F. I. Medical Experts Medical Group. We've been out put together a credible and high-quality approach on on that side of things. I think if foam long on loan. At been doing it then, it wouldn't have had the seriousness of cute also of. The medical group doing it and I. think that's been a vital pot on the code of practice has been developed will be all racing. There's a specific. additional code that we're going to apply to Australia because of the circumstances and. Former. The code of practice has been. Developed is something which will be. Usable by Oli I championships and I think those That is that protocol would develop as we go along. I've always seen some adjustments to it because of the greater understanding and the changes in the. Situations and As I say our coach has to be at the highest standard of wherever we we can't just. Go to a country and say well. This country is a bit more relaxed, so we can relax. that. But that that's been vital to take. The authorities show the seriousness. And Quality of the approach? Ashwani F I ain't GonNa take. Well like Oh sports and obviously will be hearing from Christian from the Bundesliga in a moment. You're having to start as you mentioned behind closed doors. But how realistic do you think the prospect? Of actually getting some spectators in to witness some formula, one motor racing before the end of the twenty twenty championship. Weren't rush that I think some of the later. European races are optimistic but I think we prefer not to plan on that. I think it's where we go to flowery races that we can stop. That we will have fans, but even that's not absolutely guaranteed. I, think the have the race in safe and secure. Environment is is critical, and we say we're going round the world. We have a problem in one country that stops his going to other countries, so we'll progress slowly on that front. The fans for as a critical. And there's a lot of. Atmosphere and Ambience created by the fans who probably not quite as strong as it is in football. We'll talk about later, but when you go to football stadium and it's very intense. Some races can be like that a Lotta racist so so it's perhaps not quite critical for us The having the funds at the race, but we do want to see them because they do a lot of atmosphere. Don't get me wrong. But I think we'll tell you that very gradually, and and we certainly we don't want to jump in and jump out again when the problems. Obviously given the circumstances I'd I'd expect you're going to have a lot of goodwill on your side from from everybody involved in the community, but the fans as well that gives you an opportunity with the exceptional circumstances I guess to try a few different things that maybe you have wanted to have a look at in terms of formats and that kind of thing. Obviously I'm sure keeping away from Gimmicks, because this is Formula One, but we seen some discussion about reverse grid races, and that sort of thing, so what kind of traction are you getting from those ideas, and and which ones particularly appeal to you? Think might have some legs. We introduce the concept of. My qualifying race which was based on reverse championship set a qualifying race would stop in reverse championship, bordering than that were tightening you straight to the main event, which would be the result Sunday on. We discussed that last year and we had. We had pretty good support for that, but not unanimous. and it's been the same case issue. It's been some teams who? Have felt that something we should be doing. All concern was simply where we have races two races the same track because of the situation this year. We're going to have to raise his Australia to races, so we'll send. Possibly two races later in the air or other of the. And the second, race. We wanted to see. There was an opportunity to try different format. There's some small things we can do with the selection of talk pans and one or two other things, but I think a quite Mina. One or two attracts later in the year. Have the added attraction. They can run in a different configuration. So that might be an opportunity if we have a second race there. To run the track in a different configuration, create some difference between the two races, but I suspect Australia's going to be pretty exciting beginning of the season. Nitra attract. Everyone settling in. On the I think we will find that. We'll have to exciting races without doing anything to it. But. It's just later in the we were. Looking at these changes. Of this pandemic and the associated lockdown of basically economies to a halt around the world, a lot of big companies, manufacturers and sponsors of the sport of all been affected by that is redundancies. There's a lot of belt-tightening etc. How does Formula One forward in terms of its appeal to manufacturers and sponsors, and how conscious you of the acuteness of the situation? Will. Is You know we'd been working on? The budget CAP, which is probably one of the biggest impacts on the cost of going from one racing. We've been working. Since I, read your informal one. And that. Reached his combination before this crisis but this crisis. I think. gave us the opportunity. We knew the budget capital was. Would once you're said a budget cap? You can always just. Before this ever happened with said the we ever have a crisis. In the future, we can adjust the budget cap to take account and all except that some it, the ideal level equilibrium changes. I think without the ability for the teams to go back to the boards and go back to the manufacturer and say look. For Long is vitally important to, and it's going to cost less than future. I think they would you know we would retain the number of manufacturers big teams that we have? Because when a manufacturer is making the. Economic adjustments that has to inform on still out there. With unlimited spending. That's difficult argument and I think. Touch Wood. We've kept all the main players involved, and that's because we bailed to say that the stained. When economic inspecting! And that's been a vital tool in very timely. I'm so glad. We've had that. We're also changing the cast, but that was something we were doing anyway but they're more focused on what we feel. The areas fans engage with instead of spending money on things and fans knew nothing about. And I think they're going to be better. Looking cars sending the race each other more effectively, so there's a lot of things we doing. We've got our I. Think we'll talk about that. Maybe the moment we've got our sustainability initiatives, which was started last year's which I think are important for engaging companies as well they want see good. Sustainability Strategy Info on. and we need to do that without spoiling the core attraction. Excitement the foam. Now. Formula One's always been brilliant in terms of its speed of reaction, and we certainly saw that when this started, but it's not always been so good collaboration between the stakeholders. Formula One and the team throughout your racing career. You've obviously got many painful memories of that now you're on this side of the fence, obviously a tremendous relationship with the FAA that spirit of collaboration I mean. I've been Formula One for thirty years. I've never really seen anything like it before. Do you think that was coming anyway? Origin the pandemic crisis through into the need to do it. Can you sustain it going forward? I think it was already. I think the Particularly with the new management team at foam along liberty Chase Carey. I think the approach and culture with different. That the policy of cooperation. On those all succeeding together. was much stronger and. Sunday, that's how I. Want to see things an SI. We have seen things on across with this pandemic. It's been absolutely vital and I must say that there fi for more on and the team. Worked incredibly closely and constructively impulsively in in mazing this crisis of saying this before when we've had crises in for more on its and I think apply so matt racing. It so United Group of. Enthusiasm Asom Passionate people about what they do. And they wanted to go out on the track and hammer each other, but you know the when we have this crisis that come together remarkably well to solve the problems and challenges I think. Olmeta sports great in that respect we put for that competition to one side for the greater good and I've seen that happened so many times in my own case in two thousand nine. GP Narrow. When we had that crisis support, we had from other teams. was astonishing. To track when changes. It is I. Think we're in the very strong period of cooperation between the FAA from on and the teams on. We need to make the best use of. Now, you mentioned sustainability I'm going to go and tomorrow we'll be talking with a panel. Including your own Afghan Coumarin F one director, strategy and business development about motorsport, needing to have a sense of purpose going forward four one has been taking steps with its net zero and carbon initiative through. An also in recent weeks as well getting involved in Hashtag, black lives, matter and putting out of a strong message there you've had the three thousand five hundred lives campaign together, with the FAA and some of the sponsors with drink, driving campaigns, and that sort of thing do you think a sense of purpose will have to become central to Formula One motorsport in general going forward? Yes, and I think you can never. You can never ignore the core reason why we're doing this, you know it's a competitive and entertaining engaging score. You must have that so whatever we do if that fails, then you've got new platform. To give a message. But I think foam on is May Say I. Think is the Pinnacle of Bonus Fault and I think it has a role to play in. In Set an example of how we operate. And Sustainability perspective. We're looking at fuels and loss of the power. Units we require from future. That's on next focus off the budget cap. The Koch changes were now focused on the power powerplant for the future. And that should come in twenty twenty six, and what will be the RAV powerpoint? What sort of fuel using sustainable fuels? And, we are looking at Carbon impact, how can we? Stop in. Can we change our practices to make sure that we have? A common zero. We can achieve common air in the future. So nothing for very good at that I think with the. Resources, we have the technology have the intelligent people we have involved in the sport. And we can be a model for for many manufacturers in terms of what we do, so I think the relevance comes in that in that respect, but we can never lose sight of the fact that we're an entertaining and engaging sport and we lose that. Then say we have no platform to talk from so that always has to be. A very strong consideration what we do. Obviously. There's been no physical racing over the last three months Ross but East Sim racing is certainly stepped up. It's been it's. It's moment to shine. You've had your virtual f one championship. We saw the extraordinary event. Lamar, the weekend with two hundred drivers in thirty seven countries on one hundred seventy rigs, taking part, and we see really very much the rise of digital motorsport. We'll be talking about that in a special session on Thursday here in the FAA e conference, but it's wanted to get your thoughts on as as a man engine era very much a forward thinker you've you've seen each sports rising. But what do you think about the way? It's risen to the challenge during lockdown period. Well it's been a a a lifeline in this period to keep fans engaged. In so many people in lockdown to be able to offer them this entertainment this engagement. Following has been been wonderful I. Mean I have to confess I'm not a big for each for participant. perhaps on a little old. I've got grandchildren never king, and I can see the passion I have for these things. The thing I've seen the that very striking to me is how because the real drivers have become involved in these initiatives these events? How Well. They've been engaged with the fans and one of our. Main objectives when we when I got involved again which to see how we could. You know the message was constantly coming across in the fans. They wanted Dave drivers, and they see him in the car with a helmet on. See them into beautiful. But. Drive is really like what are their characters like they do. Live. And of course as four, she's much better insight into the driver's personalities and characters and the nature. And that's been. A Real Boon and London, Norris and George. Russell, and all those guys that you probably wouldn't have quite so much. All of suddenly comes to the forefront. which is in the personalities have come out and. I think I'll spend the really I use for the element erasing and. and. We always supported it as you know we had. Erasing Championship every from long chain participating, but they would be with professional gamers most of the time and I think the The real racing drivers taking part it's been. Massive boost to Iranian. I couldn't agree with you more about the drivers. The clerks and his twitter channels been hugely entertaining as landowners throughout this period, and I guess we don't want to do is that when you go back to real racing I guess you keen to get the teams in the drivers to try and keep that that Communication Channel Open. If you like so, it doesn't go back to being a two straight. If you want to corporate controlled, they can, they can express themselves and on. On how important is to reach that younger generation? I'm sure that will have a lot more support on a lot more resource in the future, so we've seen massive hosted lives in that side and we're not GonNa want to let them go, so hormones very It's been brilliant you thank you so much for for taking the time you're probably the busiest busiest man in motorsport at the moment is where what nineteen days away I think from your first growing pre. How the nerves feeling confident? Yeah. But you know, we have people going to Austrian actually so it's It's it's It's happening so Real now. As so exciting we're already looking forward to it, and all the very best of luck to you and the formula, one team and everybody else in getting Formula One restarted again. Tnak's Monte Carlo Crash Won't Slow Him Down
"Hello and welcome to gravel notes so covered on David Evans. I should have said that but I but you knew that. Anyway have you recovered from rally. Monte-carlo what an opening round. We had wasn't just sensational. It was everything that we hoped for. Let's let's face it coming into this season coming off the back of last year. We didn't really know what what to expect. Did we read loss rally Australia last year. We lost rally chilly. We lost citron. Skoda we lost the WAC launch. There was an awful lot negativity around the WRC going into Monte. We needed a really strong event For the championship to bounce back for for all of the fans around the world to really get hold listening and say yes you know this. This has the makings of a great year. And that was a brilliant way to start a very what's going to be very very great year. Tearing very novell how absolutely superb was he in the in the final stages on Sunday unbeaten Sunday perfect final day for him and completely deserves. Serves a victory. You know he really. He missed out last year by what was the second and a half something to Sebastian O.. J. He deserves that he deserved it from that first night when he was what twenty five and a half seconds quicker than than anybody in in the second stage that was heroic. You know that was a a proper great stage so I've got to say I'm delighted for Terry. I'm also delighted for Dreyer. Adama The charismatic team principal principal the hind director. Donald lives just come comes from lives. Obviously right now now Zeno where he manages behind our team but he's from Kirin and Monty was the round that he used to go to like. I used to go to the with my father. He I used to go to the Monte with it with his dad and to see you know his dad was there at the weekend and to see just the raw emotion that came from from Adama You know the guy has a lot of critics a lot people some know lots of people. Some people don't buy into I do I think he is absolutely genuine heart-on-the-sleeve on a slave great guy and to see as I say the emotion when when he won was was fantastic his wife sports about you know it's about the human aspect and we certainly only saw that with him and theory in anterior and Nicholas Jolie's co-driver. They did a very good job. But what are we to do it. You know one of the most up and down Monte Carlos we've seen in years we talked about this. Didn't we the week before that. You know you can easily lose a minute here minute. There Hoffman here but you never really kind expect it to actually happen but it did you know novell was twenty five point five seconds quicker on the second stage then. He lost a heap to to Alvin on on the Friday. And then when it all back ultimately won the event by twelve seconds it was superb achievement behind. I am a real demonstration that take that that has got quicker and his getting quicker Toyota. You're going to have all your own way this year. I would say that that's for sure but equally it. It was a strong event for Toyota and it was a super strong event. For Elvin Heavens one of the things that I was really impressed with early on. If you're going to look I stage to make a statement in Monte Carlo. You know you're gonNA really struggle okay. Terry made a great statement in that second stage where the conditions are very tricky changeable but the warm place that you know everybody will push hard is when you've got consistently dry stage when the conditions are very predictable. Everybody's on the same tie the super soft or whatever of a and it's a level playing field that was the first stage Sebestyen. OJ quickest he got in there. He knew that he had the opportunity to put that market down and to really show the world what he could do in a in a Uris and he did it beautifully but after that didn't he struggle to keep hold of of Alvin Evans Have Evans was brilliant. On Friday morning nothing short just as much praise as we give Terry for his perfect Sunday we should give twelve infringe perfect Friday morning joining unbeatable on as I three stages Elvin was the guy who got hold of the Yarra for me and felt more comfortable more quickly you know there was some bumpy road roots around gap. An elven was on it. You know he was. He was comfortable in the car. He could understand that you could read predict it all J. struggled a little bit. You know certainly in in the morning on the first run. It took time for him to understand what college doing generally got quick as always does on the second run but yet a- as much as we offer huge congratulations to tearing avail. We have to offer seriously big commiserations to Elven in an Scott Mountain. They did a stunning job Ryan until Saturday night Sunday. The feeling wasn't quite the same. An elven said that he found found himself. Having to push the car. Push on overdrive a little bit and that's where the seconds go you know that just going a bit too hard into the corner. He didn't find the same feeling. The stages are very very different from from gap. Where you've got more countries ice ages down south to the ounce where the they're much more of the kind of a racetrack obviously very changeable conditions and Alvin? Just couldn't find the same feeling that it had on the first the first few days it was such tame and he knew as soon as your Internet I as to feeling wasn't that and he could see a time starting to go ashamed that he lost out first goes to the win any law second but still third podium fabulous result for his first time out Toyota. He must keep in mind that he must take a huge amount of strength and from what he achieved from. Hin score achieved in in Montana and move forward to Sweden typically another classic dry from him where where he was comfortable. It was quick. Didn't want to risk everything. And as he rightly pointed out. Perhaps or tonic. Did risk illiterate. Mommy so what happened to him. ONSTAGE onstage four when he crashed off the road in spectacular fashion that's not as way OJ will build and build and build until he's comfortable with the car completely and and then he let rip and no point. I don't think did he feel one hundred percent comfortable on the bumps and this and that to actually really give the car its head that time will come. Make no doubt no doubt even and we're just going to say more and more speed from from Seb when it does quick mention of Toyota found huge disappointment on Sunday afternoon in monte-carlo They'd had they'd gone into the day first first and second they came out of it second second and third. Yes or just doing the math so I think there's a real feeling that they lost the event rather than tearing the winning. I don't know one thing that I spoke to Lindstrom after I said you know we all disappointed. Of course we could have a win here. We have two drivers in the win but we shouldn't lose sight of the fact we've got three drivers in the top five that's impressive. They lead the manufacturers three nerves in the top five all four drivers in the top seven Kelly Rovanpera era fifth delivered. One of the most brilliant just brilliant but in terms of the pace it was superb. You know where again again where it was dry where he knew he could push and have go. He went quickly. He went very quickly. Then for me you know as as much as it was a brilliant driving it was also one one of the most mature thinking drives. I've ever seen for nineteen year old to understand to come right back and have the presence of mind to just slow himself right down where there was any kind of risk any. Did you know we watched him in a couple of places on some really icy bits where he kinda thought. I'll have a bit of a go here. He didn't he he literally wound the IRS. Back and just do just tiptoed across the ice it was. It was incredible. And just as I say maturity way way way beyond Sunday's years for me that was one of drives of the rally. Kelly won't agree at all because he had massive frustration at having to wind himself back and just take Jacob time learn what he's doing but it was so important that he did that and again takemoto at Ceuta. Great Okay had worn minor liner off into a snowbank otherwise very very solid event one of his best and one of the most difficult Monte. We've had in years. He he showed real potential so huge number of reasons to be cheerful photo in fact four reasons to be cheerful for Toyota and plenty look forward to moving on with them. We should talk. Oh come out tonic. It was a huge accident again. You know he tends to have these kind of crashes that really grabbed the headlines and footage of it will go viral as it did But ultimately the first part of the accident it was if you can have good accident that was because as we saw the energy dissipated he said the accident rolls on and on like that the worst thing we have is the big impact you know the huge g loading sudden stop. That's we don't like those and what we didn't like about tax crash was the last bit where he dropped thirty meters or something off the edge of a cliff. That wasn't clever and that that was not nice for anybody but the boys are out there. Okay Nice in a hospital just to keep an eye on master. After the number of Jesus they went through but good A. and Tannock journalists. I said to me when we'd spoken to calm Saturday when he was out of hospital. They don't buy into all of this provider auto and all of this are not affected by this. That's Tannock you know. I'm sorry he is that cool. You know he's the guy that shriners way way out of a car. That was the bottom of a lake. He's the guy that his car caught fire in Portugal the year after or whenever is after the year after his car caught fire in Portugal he ran into the fire to pull it out. He was the one that was attached to Toho to hold the car out of the FI. You know he is that cool and he will move on from this. It's it's a big big crash but it won't slow down. It won't play on his mind. He's down there. He's moved on like you said you know he is now all about the gravel all the loose surface setup. He'll go and do a long test with the hind. I get ready Sweden and crack on from there. He does obviously have a good place on the road for Sweden. If we get snow whatever the condition certainly is probably going to have a good position in Mexico So you'd have to say you know he would potentially go certainly to Mexico as favourite. So yeah what else can we talk about. We can talk m sport a mixed bag particularly the transmission problem. That team you shouldn't in had on the first night was a real shame. Nothing team has ever had before. I think that they're talking about hydraulic draw related issue as a completely new for them and a real shame because synonym for me would have been he would have been pushing fourth or fifth around and that could have given team even more good points. lappy drove well on his on his debut. Didn't he you know. He took his time where he wasn't confident. He backed off. He had a few issues with his eyes note. Crude not quite getting new information. He wanted from them but again as he got to learn the car he got quicker and quicker. We saw this with lappy last year in in a citrus. When the confidence comes my goodness he is very very quick? When the confidence isn't there he can really struggle and we saw that at times and Monte him lose his head a little bit in terms of the fact that we couldn't really get on onto to the same pages the car it's coming and it will together and you know they took good points from fourth Philippi and and and what was the eighth? So you know it's it's not the the end of the world at all green difficult one obviously very disappointing for Gusta miss out. Only the top sixty cars go through to run over the tyranny and all of the Sunday stages simply because the Monte organizes can't do. The tulips are stages with any more than sixty. That's all they can fit through so it's a real race on Saturday night to make Internet top sixteen. I think ended up sixty six or something and after what he described as the worst just moments of his career that was it was a tricky crash. Wasn't that you know you could kinda see what he was trying to do it. That really icy happened left. But it just didn't quite come off he will bounce back There's no doubt you know gus is not a guy short on self confidence and we'll I'm sure we'll see him back stronger. Where will we say him? That's the big question isn't it. Let's take a break now and when we come back we will talk about round to breath. So welcome back to growl knows round two. Where is it going to be oriented Sweden around two or skipping around too and actually go directly to Mexico? What am I talking about snow? Do we have an answering. Do we need any in Sweden. This is the Glenn also saying that guy is the CEO of rally Sweden and and he said to me that essentially snow is not an absolute necessity for the stages. It's good for the pictures. Of course it is and you know a winter rally with with snow is a definite winter rally without snow is it not just essentially the pictures not just rally. Gb kind of pictures or a wet thousand lakes eggs or something. I don't know we don't need the snow. According to what we do need one hundred percent is very very very cold icy roads. We need the is that there is will give the studs something to grip onto and it will potentially stop the roads being shredded by those those studs on the car is this perennial question isn't it. Is You know is waiting to happen. We get tired of asking the question but you know. Imagine Agean. How Sweden organizers failed? You know they their face to this every year and it is. It's a bit of a nightmare for them and the answer is always talking about. Yeah go off offer go. Further North Korea maybe skip Sweden go straight to the Arctic rally which have fabulous conditions. Weeks ago it's not that easy it's really not you know. There's a place called oray in in the north of Sweden where we could probably even go back to the frozen to the frozen lake stages but the trouble is anywhere that's got some hills Elsa undulations some snow north in Sweden. It's called a ski resort and we much as we want to go in there and take over all the hotels the hotels details full anyway. You know there's not the space for us to go there. It's not that simple. You know there are areas office and all of these places we. I should put our faith in the fact that people Glenn Olsen and the Rally Sweden organizers are investigating and looking and if not then they should lose their end of the championship but I know for a fact they are witold via decision affirmed decision one way or the other by Monday. We're told that there is snow coming to Sweden with told the temperatures are dropping Willa temperatures. Drop enough. I don't know who knows The minute we are absolutely in the hands of God's we just don't know so let's say it will be a huge shame if we don't get to go to Sweden one of my favorite events but it would be a very very different rally without any snow. You know the remember sixteen. Obviously we got there and the weather held held a gun today. Events head through throughout Out The ricky and eventually we just about made it to some stages but it just wasn't ideal not by any stretch on. I think it will compromise job if we run without any snow. It'll look And much is I genuinely hate to say it could potentially actually be the end of the event. I don't know we have to say it's difficult future and I genuinely fail. For for the organizers of the event. It's it's it's a tricky on because particularly you know when we get the right conditions there is nowhere better than Sweden to to watch around. It is quite magical to see these cars absolutely flat out in sixty balancing the knife edge on those skinny ties. And it's amazing and the whole experience is fabulous. So let's see let's cross our fingers and hope that the weather gods deliver forest. Actually they're probably time just for one piece of news for me. I as you may have redden in my column in Motorsport News and all to export I'm leaving This is the the final gravel notes and my my last week with with Motorsport Network It's it's been a very difficult decision to make And I just failed. You know quite right now. I'm ready for a for a new challenge. I'm not going to go on for long hair. I'm hardly johnnym leaving today. Program I it's just an opportunity to say a huge thank hugh to all the people who have read Mein. Nonsense down is twenty three and a half years and I've been absolutely privileged To work with some some great people at Tisdale Haymarket and Motorsport Network and autism. What media it's been? It's been an absolute blast. And you know from the day that I walked into stand at house in September nineteen ninety-six absolutely lived the dream of this job. It's it's been quite extraordinary meeting heroes. You know a lot of people talk about. You should never meet heroes. Forget it always meet your Heroes Heroes Because for me Colin McRae Richard Burns collar sites. These guys have one hundred percent lived up to my expectations. You know it was a genuine privilege to to sit alongside Colin McRae on tests get drunk with him afterwards and you know and the same with Burns and these are moments events that I will never forget this job with bought me into contact with the most amazing people and I will miss it all and you know I Even a Monday press day. Those stinking stinking horrible Monday pressed as I will. Maybe I wouldn't miss those Actually I will you know. There's a huge cameraderie at all to explore and and on on an obviously it's changed down is you know there's there's probably less office cricket played Now the northern we're at t's down at Standard House But yeah it's it's still all about the people and there's some great people you know from from when I started people marks Curious Lawrence Foster amazing raising editors you know people are. I looked up to for an awfully long time. Just gave me that the most amazing halpern a great start. And as I walk out through the door no I leave. Turner in charge of autosport and Matt. James Judge both amazing fellows and you know these both titles are in very very safe hands. so. Yeah Yeah I think I made this decision a few months ago. I said I wasn't going to go on a now. Listen to go on and on. I made the decision of a few humans ago and for me. It was the right one. I had a huge wobble on Christmas morning. Selena when when my my son Oliver bought me a the copy of motoring news from from the weekend was born in seventy two and when I rap that too it was was just incredible and I just Kinda then thought wow you know I have been so fortunate to be part of a great institution you know Motoring News as I I. I walked in through the door and as I read it from a child you know. My father competed in rallying for an awful lot years and motoring users at the center of our household And I know it gave mom and dad gives my mother you know unfortunately dance not with us But it gives my mom still a huge of pride. She's not a big motor sport. Fan but not to have seen me grow Inter Inter job and into the role and everything. It's it's been good for her and you know I know my father's up their dad had you know looking down and he's pretty proud that I hope And I'm sure he'll be proud of the next move which is coming very soon. I'm sure you know I'll be talking to you again soon. Bert it's there we are. I said I wasn't going to go on. I'm going on far too long. Having mentioned Ali I must mention my gorgeous daughter Georgia and my beautiful wife Sandra and thank them fabric dumped me. I also need to say a big thank you to Martin Lee who produces this podcast and turns this nonsense that I'm talking right now into something that you actually want to listen to you so thank you all the best everybody baseball and I hope I still really opportunity to write your feature. You Will Al- always have of a place you know very close to my heart. It's it's been amazing but I said goodbye.
The Greatest F1 Team - Team Principal
"The greatest one team. Hello and welcome to the final part of what is being a very special seven We've attempted to answer the question. What with the lineup of the greatest F. One team look like from Race Engineer. Team principal lead to lead drive at chief designer and even the ready coveted number. Two driver's fault we've set out to build an F one team made of the best that has ever been. Iron House panel made up all of our F. One experts from across the globe have all pick individuals throughout history. That they believe are the greatest of all time and in this series. We've been discussing the careers under winus of the individuals that have made it into the top three for each joke role. I'm jess highest. And today I am joined by James Allen John Noble then Anderson and Rebecca could so I reckon everyone but want to be a team principal given the past anelle disposal but what does the ideal candidate need to be good at? What makes a great team? Principal STANDOUT OVER. The key thing is just being all areas. You can't just be strong in one area. Econ speak to get in the sponsors in. Just be good at managing the drivers. You conscious be good at dealing with the politics you need to be there across all areas and keep things under control And I think all our a top three team principles all delivered this their most accessible peaks of their careers They've will lead from the front stood out in the crowds and they've all proved to be moss strike in winning championships. It's unbelievably difficult to win in formula needing to win World Championship. It's been when multiple world championships is. All three of our finalists of dom is odd. Takes an awful lot of them because it's like it's like a bar soap. It's always on the move. He's just keeping hold things in an someone wants to lead. This wants more money in that drive to keep a winning team together is really hard and then to motivate them to win again and again and again even though it might look easy for me. Outsca IDAHO YOU know. These teams winning multiple Welsh Car Course Are But just having the best just having the best drive of getting to that? Point is unbelievably difficult. So I think that's why it's been good that you've signed this to the last of the series early. Because this is the ultimate row because Ev Fountain at everything comes from the team principal younger I team principal. Younger right designer. The right drivers in anybody people don't want the team with the right team principally they on the the team so it's it's fundamentally important massively difficult to do. Well let's look at the passing. We find in third place as voted by our panel of experts from around the world. And it's going to be one of the most iconic names in Formula One. That still carries his name to this day. That's of course Steph. Frank Williams who founded the team his own team in nineteen seventy seven and was celebrating the first win two years later at remarkably US drivers and constructors well championship in nineteen eighty. And they want to be the last of his winds. He really is emerges sport legend. Isn't he yeah he's He's lost of the MOHICANS. The among our our shortlist echoes. If Chapman far came before oversee he competed against a guy who's founded a team from nothing. I started by entering customer. 'cause then decided to strike as a constructor. He was much derided early on in his team cooling wanker Williams but he pressed on forced amazing partnership with Patrick Head. That team to the very a. You could argue that you know as time has gone on. Williams's obviously declined incredible success Through the nineties recapture the glory as with BMW in the two thousands maybe some strategic decisions when against them. I should frank given up more control to allow seem to modernize but you have to hand. It in. His team is still going and night. Chapman's tain latest STA- declined in his later years Ferrari. Before his death they went going through the best of times. It's very hard to stay on top as change saying earlier even to get to. The top is extraordinarily difficult site. You have to hand Frank Williams. He's probably not the guy you'd you would want running on modern great steph form team considering that Williams has been in decline for a while now and they have won a race in two twenty twelve. And we've only won one since two thousand and four but nevertheless the legend Formula One. Somebody that we should definitely acknowledge that Frank Williams is not only a fantastic principle. Listen example of the termination because Rennie stocked to follow his dream. E was not a very good condition. E E bill this team from the ground so it was not easy to start so yes to do a lot of problems because was not easy especially the first couple of years but the way you build the so big company into mortal sports fighting with the big factor because of course they time also providing wasn't while the doctor will feature was is an example of patient. When you when you're really believe in something and you spend all your entire life to follow your dream. Sometimes you sacrifice everything our new also there that the human relationship because you out totally folk who said when your target for me. This is an example for a lot of people and I think now is more difficult to find the person that every time is ready to risk himself everything just because he want to to to see his dream realized in the sporting the target that the achieve was absolute Testing I think the number of people might be a little surprised. That is not wrong. Dennis rather than Frank Williams. I think it's seems class finding the balanced decision of this wide level. Our F when experts from across the world. But I think for me what makes Frank Stand up a Ron? Dennis is one of the points That which is he used. Determination outside apples that resilience solvency coming back from his nineteen ninety-six road accident to then. How will the success to be had but I think it also speaks about the way that he built a team. In how empowered the team around it mentioned actors fundamentally Off of the success of Williams. I always used to say Ron. Dennis was the best and worst thing about McLaren because we such a big personality. Sat Dad. You couldn't really get away from that wears with Frank Williams. It's I think the fact that he was sort of Sorrento had multiple phases of success which which is difficult every extended period of time but those are the fact that people have bathroom empowered and he's organizations than they were in Rome. Dennis is in my is why he made the two thousand three and runs Frank won't be running on pavement. Fortunately and nor will the current FAA president. John Todd now. Obviously Ferrari has always been a high pressure environment and that hasn't always lead to success and before taught became team. Principal Ferrari had gone eleven years without a constructors title and fifteen. Without a driver's he built the team that would go wants dominate the early two thousands. Just how did he turn that around? These friars ruled viewed as united. The Shoemaker Gloria's and brilliant job Michael Jordan but actually it was all the results of what Jonathan to turn for around scared of the old. Furry mentality come into this. New reactive racing team wasn't straight straightaway didn't come easily difficult early years trying to turn things around and get them going but once he hit his stride once they got but Dream Team's cover of Schumacher Ross brawn. Rory Byrne John Todd you know they pushed on and paradorn an a brilliant brilliant era Formula One and three John was a brilliant team principal roofless times unpopular times but three all is number one focus winning And the end of the day is your drop as team principal. The number one responsibility is victory. The rebuild challenge that John Leads to. Diaries is not to be underestimated when he went that they didn't have a gearbox departments in. Marinella informant while it was in Surrey so I mean there was so much work to do. I'm in bed. I was watching biography. Michael Schumacher. John gave me a lot of a lot of times and he was sort shining around it that before. He got that if you like. And he said it was like kind of creaking old building that has some wonderful architectural features but basically ahead interiors just needed to be completely refurbished and essentially what he did Starting just after his his run of success. Excuse me with pleasure and building the team up for MEG. And then putting the right pieces in place obviously Michael Schumacher was a fundamental Came along in nineteen ninety six and then Ross Brune in nineteen ninety seven alert. They added some extra personalities. That was Kinda cool about team. The way they operate it was on a Fair so the principal figures. Todd ruin the shoe Mecca Montanelli but none of the wanted to let the other one down and it was just this e credibly intense so to grew a leadership group. The top of which Schumacher was definitely off the meant that they will always always always striving for that extra few percent occasionally them across the line carries neither. Do some things that were not particularly popular. Whether it's t motors decisions. Some strange stuff. Lighten Black Flags and so to get out in the steward's removed was kind of thing but they will absolutely bang up against the limit of what was what was permissible de. Never wanted to let each other down. I think that's what made that team. So so unbeatable. I think that quarry that are two points that might be of the coupons for the success of jumped out the first one that he was able to choose the right people and When each as you said the sproul cash market Audebert that that was very top-class in slow the second one is that e the responsibility over everything in Maranello that was a big risk because in case of bad result of course he was the first one that still be fired but he said I am the team principal. I am the boss and the everybody must follow Meyer. That is not easy. Ferrari because there are a lot of politics in the history and it's a very crucial I think that the is the only way to run properly for if you want to run property you bus heads. The complete control of the debt was John. Paul was able to have it to able to establish a new culture a long established team which is extraordinarily difficult to do especially when that team has gone through a long period of failure in an underachievement. I think he can make a really really strong case for being the number one choice for fifteen principles ferry very close. Run thing A great hit rate was almost a hundred wins. I think in fourteen seasons there you know he set the template radio think for being a modern team principal in charge of a monolithic organisation hundreds of people disparate departments. Trying to bring together while dating with politics an issue in the final reckoning. Hold against him the fact that he's in charge of Ferrari to have special standing within the school had a veto with the rose. Will these kinds of things and of course when route changes did come up to threaten Ferrari's again? The the two thousand point they did they did struggle and didn't quite recapture their their former glory. So he couldn't. He couldn't renew the team really having established that dominant runways she mecca at Towel. But nevertheless you make radio strong case for I think if you WANNA join analyze what is specialty was Roberto saying. I think it's that commitment Incentive was was sort of the ultimate example of commitment is a racing driver things. The same is true with talk to whoever is working for whatever badges got on his shirt whether or whether it's Ferrari whether it cepheid today would go through a brick wall so that organization. He wasn't the owner Frank. Williams was the name of the. He was always an employee but he was employee listening. Would go through a brick wall to achieve what he wanted to achieve him. That's what made specialist team principal. But that's not quite enough to lead our team because our team principal is actually betted towards run of five consecutive drivers and constructors titles. And of course we're talking about a satin. Mr Toto Wolff Mercedes is now one the past six championship doubles anti-thai Wolf has been the man seeing all and a k. the team took advantage of the new power unit. Regulation twenty fourteen but through all the rule changes since then nobody can seemingly managed to end the run. So what makes wolf just so don good? I think it's the way the way the championships have on from each other. New Challenges overcome all the time when when the titles one in two thousand fourteen People put it down. Oh the best engineers by far the best. This is why they wanNA talk little bit. As the years went on as the rules were changed. Is the challenges. Came up of drivers of new era rules as just got better and better and better organization No complacency Taito management style has allow people to flourish Kept the team very very consistent and the best people And I think those those qualities ability to harness people. He's got much in the right way. get a very unified team. Is I think just put some above the rest right now. What surprised me a lot. Is that Mercedes? Looks like a magic box. I mean game sale is on was fired by Ratty Andy Mercedes is doing from dusty job. The same had been sweet out. Costar was the Cincinnati fighting by fanatic. And then he must see does he. Different dusty jump. What surprised me. A lot is the relationship incitement. Cdc's disease from Iran lease ward where people is constantly and oppression. But I think don't talk. Create the system that the for me. It's difficult for space difficult to understand. But he create a system where the people is the condition to give this one hundred percent. We doubt politics and without stress. That is something that consent you to reduce New People into the place people but we know effect in the result is not one main show e create. The system that for me is the best quality at the best part of the job. That thought did the last ten years. He's got this line. I don't know how to design Surface but I know everything about the guy who does. I think that's exactly right. He goes back to what Ben was saying on about culture of see told had to come into Ferrari adapt a longstanding coach to be what he wanted it to be sort of an iron fist whereas with toto obviously Ross Perot lovely establishing work building up that team from bridging from home. A broom into early diocese. But what hotel did and when you get a chance to cover these service. Cd's and talked to him about it. He's April combination about modern psychology German military tactics and all sorts of other things together into this management style. Whether is a no fare coach? You know they don't blame the person. They blamed the problem that the nonsense that everything an everything that they do. They just do it better than everybody else. Now if you look at times in how he's aged how he's gone over the last six or seven years it's taken a lot out to them and that's why it's interesting at the moment to see what he's going to do next and how much longer he'll carry on doing this full. Because he's obviously ultra high achiever. But what else does he got left. What else do ambitions contain an? I'm fascinated to see that I think it was very close between him and solve this crisis referencing principle but just the creation the shit depths of of culture. I think he think the only criticism you could probably level types of is that this thing that James Lead to that. He kind of inherited the team in a way that taught didn't up that sent. He also supercharged. Mercedes through the hybrid arena. He's made much more of what is there. He's created this culture as we said of FEHB also have accountability so every employee there is is able to express how they feel about how things are going without fear or favor and they can attack legs. Problems unimproved the fact. They've been able to sustain they rom. Three to significant rule changes over the last few years may not that some precedents is far as we can see and his hit rate of success beyond the fact that he's got the stakes and six compared to five and five. Mercedes one something like ninety two races in seven years with taught at the helm you know. That's that compares to talk winning a ninety nine fourteen years so incredibly efficient in terms of winning and he'll say manages it with the other things you know he's he's good on the politics He's a good front man for the tape. He manages the commercial side. He started that team in a way that makes it not too depending on the parent company. Daimler I it. Sustainability and another key thing is that he's been able to get the most out of historic driver Lewis. Hamilton Lewis is better bathroom better with Taito at the Hellman. Lewis speaks really highly of title. As does James Allison him as the best boss. They've had in foam and that speaks volumes. The other thing about wolf is that he doesn't have a background. As a manager he was an investor many was sheldon Williams. He got the opportunity to become a manager Obviously he's had to his management style in the job from the get-go winning world championships where we'll see John had many many years Managing Persia teams etc etc. Before that and I think that's the most remarkable thing about about such a wolf is he. He told himself to become manager literally whilst winning his also had varied experiences dealing with different types of Dr Relationships. You know you've had the the equal number ones of Rosberg and Louis where you're trying to control to drive coming through championship. Who are totally loggerheads? We each other dealt with the controversies. The Monaco Escape Road Instagram Nikko. The Spanish Grand Prix in two thousand sixteen when the Pack Alighted Subsequent Collisions. He's dealt with a lot but he's also managed to utilize the arrival of protests. The facts made Lewis a bit more comfortable and rather than allowing Louis to back off against your comfort zone and not be a strong. He's actually used it in a way of getting more of Louis had that long winter chat entitles kitchen where they went through their relationship while they fought each other is lifted. Lewis to a new high. And I don't think we've seen Louis better than he is right now if we could put it down to one thing or is it simply a the fact that he seems to hold many skills. But I'm really interested to know if you have to pick one aspect of titleist pass or management style that puts him head and shoulders above the rest. What would that one element Bay is apply colleges? He knows perfectly out to approach the people in a different way and that is a very good quality especially run would have to to what a lot of people every people is different than Eat knows how to approach everything. The best where everybody in the best way and a the same time and other big quality. I think he's able to predict the future so he I think at the moment is the best team brings Because E is able to know before all the rest of the field what is GonNa Happen? This is not a very good quality. For increase to human psychology side. It comes to most of having significant intellectual. He's very very bright like any. He's never satisfied with anything. He's always trying to learn some more senior situations where he's drilling able for information about how they manage this situation. You know the people from op spend time with him. Brian for the event ones the boss of the cycling this one older Toda Francis and he was drilling in for information about how keeps the team on the bubble in always ready to go again so the next year? So the phones. So it's just that relentlessness I think is wall marks out any great in our sport whether you're a driver or MSCI mechanic aura. A Race Engineer. You have to always be seeking mall. They have to always be relented to see looking to improve yourself and everybody around you and I think that's that's that's what it is within. Yeah he says that same trait with Lewis. Hamilton is easy. Well it can happen when you on top you can get complacent Could back-off Jomo talking about this earlier. As well with Ross wig out with the team suddenly off to twenty sixteen Louis could have Perhaps but Louis stays on it. He keeps trying to get better chases as he describes it ghost 'cause when he's out on track and I think Taito is of a similar stock you know he's he's never satisfied even when they winning. He's always looking to improve looking to stay on top and cross the opposition. Is that relentlessness? James said stands in my car and it seems all winners up pretty pleased that they've been placed in the positions on our greatest f one team because once again. We have a message from the winner. Let's take it across to missed a tie wolf. Hi everybody trusted afford. I would like to say thank you to the Motorsport Network. Journalists that have participated in the voting and I must say very Hambo to have been elected the best team principal. When when? I'm looking at all those names Giant and particularly Frank Williams they role models for me shrinks Stamina Andrews. Zillions is incredible and I was able to blog and watch from him was at Williams at the end of the day. We old just figureheads for the team. Every single individual in the team deserves that credit. And this is why I would like to pass on this award. This prize to everybody within Macedo. Swiss had to make races and titles. I'm also very happy to see. Many of my teammates haven't been elected in the top three on medals and bundle to guys who Trends WITH RUSSIA. Very very strong bond as well as royals who have been the Johnny and and of course Lewis who has won the type based tribal as you know Lewis and I are very very close and seeing income out on top so we won the team principal. We've on the driver is great. So thank you very much and again you know the strength of the pack so this is a price for all of US federal budget. Thank you again for the. But I think it's safe to say that our team is in rather good hands and he completes our lineup so we now have paid Bonington. As Race Engineer Adrian newly as chief Designer Stefan Melancholy as sporting director Ross brawn as technical director Sustaining Moss as number two driver Lewis Hamilton. Taking the lead as on the one driver and of course we've talked it all off today with title Wolf as team principal. Good look stopping that lot. I think is safe to say but do you think you could put together a better team than our panel of Global F one experts. That is know your lineup in the comments. World Rallycross Returns This Weekend - Paul Bellamy Interview
"Today's also sport podcast a World Rally Cross special. Will this weekend? The World Rallycross championship restarts in Sweden the season now set at seven around the goals have fans potentially in attendance from round three in Latvia. The same whether the Covid nineteen storm in the sport is looking ahead positively to an electric future two and twenty two. But this weekend in Sweden, they will become block and some electric action to preview in the latest Hashtag thinking forward interview with the sports leaders. James Allen talks to pull Bellamy the managing director of IMG Motorsport. But wrx promotes up who argues that while motorsport has to go electric soon as possible to retain manufacturer involvement that will remain a place entitled combustion engines in private classes plus they talk innovation and why World Rallycross is the perfect sport to convert the. Non. Motor fan enjoy the podcast today. Thank you so much for joining us on this Hashtag thinking food episode of senior World Red Cross wrx. Restarting again this weekend. What makes wrx? So distinctive think it's it's short-form racing james to be honest. Drives to sunny six minutes for lattes basically hits. Ed Rising and you don't need to be a multiple if these asked to really enjoy the sport which Rossi's is great because lousy us to sort of bring you audiences and I know that I could bring them. Any A. Opening say schools fan but any of a fan of action events alone erotic fries or even to watch it on Ta as logistically six minutes if you time. H. E. Only lost six minutes and you go contact heads head racing and I only need someone's attention but six minutes. Can convert them. So I think bats will make for me. That's what makes ready. How. Have you whether the lockdown and what impacts it made on the series beyond the obvious that you've not had any events Yeah. For. You know we are requires a Gemini Alliance for optimizes. So that's been really difficult for promotion office. We've managed Toba permits.' Sweden 'em and go to feminine certain to start racing behind closed doors. But I think the biggest thing weathering this how covid nineteen fools lended itself to East foursome we were able to run sports series bringing new into that really helps keep radical at the forefront of people's minds. Swift for months. I was GONNA come on and talk about these folks a bit later on. But as you brought it up, obviously there's there's many different things to touch on that. You did have very good numbers and on your on your series and it did look so like the real thing I think of old of east votes series that were run during that virtual sort of season I think the wrx is perhaps the one that was the most authentic in many ways an unexciting, but it also doesn't accessibility side to this as well. Isn't there in terms of really does open the funnel in terms of during you fans to the sport. Did you did you find out? What was your favorite? Yet it was people that. What necessarily radicals fans or hadn't same radicals but will gain this regular comes the site and I think the PGA as as a lot of other sports had they were interact with the professionals and competes against the repeat because. Again. in fantastic job with the actual game of a BR brought people in, and then we hope it will convert people to fines and and actually the laws is. The estate have the ability from each force potentially into. One of the the entry level calls all rex to this year, and it may well be the new series of Rx to which is electric bogere Next, you know, you don't buy that that bridge where you can get from each force to the entry level rally, Cross them, build your while you know way up through for those supporters. So it worked for us and I think he's a fantastic going forward in. Terms of building that found by getting hurt making it accessible debatable taking a view. Then the overall landscape when when the world eventually returns to normal, we also have five minutes months off the lockdown was still quite some some white from that even if the action is starting up again behind closed doors, you said, what do you think will be different about mugs-full once it re balances going forward? Yeah I think I mean. A. Radical Spain really successful. We've had an open paddock. for the whole world championship years of obviously basket change. This year, we have to keep it teams in their grades. When we do go back to rights sunny for the show will sable shelter. So that'll be a big difference. So it'll be the old side of the live experience that he's obviously GonNa touch change I think the teenage products you see a great deal of changes there because because again, it show from racing will be able to bring it to. The rising of users we always have done but I think. The teams that onside they gonna be the challenge is how we protect able to keep people safe. And then moving around from territory to territory because you know we wanted to start it successfully a will you go for one territory to another? Domestic Championship that's challenging so It'll be the site experience that that will be different especially self-serv self behind closed doors. You mentioned foam into one obviously, which is a fourth I, may just booth to be able to move across geographies across Buddha's how much have you been able to learn from our experiences well. At, the very start and very early on the A. Wise. Though the world trump should promotes together on regular coast where we could share information. So along with our colleagues in at. WWL. F. What we've been speaking to each other, just sharing best practices guidelines back to racing guidelines. What Week Don in terms of testing. What we've had is that I'm Jay on USA in professional writing PBR and they went back to racing and competition back in in April. So they early guidelines out. So we were fortunate to have access to those guidelines. And then just just sharing information and I, you know one of the the positives to come out of this pandemic and the closure. You know we always got together with all our colleagues, other world championships once but we've done it more regularly and aspirated useful. There's been a failing of sort of family F. I family onus together and we serve helped shall. As as. Across referencing across sharing a practice which has helped us tremendously. Now what about teams oversee you know protecting the teams has been a big priority for for the right series. It's extremely difficult for them. especially, the ones so dependent on the event income from from sponsors, etc. However, your teams whether this this pandemic they I think they've they've weathered it very well, we've had a weekly cools the principles. What we talked get updated Webby calendars because obviously count changed over time eventually going to change what we got a required to do testing a stinging in that bubbles and they've all been really really and he one of radical stains You'll see put him back. He's team grown home they were instrumental in helping us get in. On the original calendar. So everybody pulled together shed practice what it means experts that of crossing churches in Europe, how they've done it. And it's been really challenging to them, but everybody's putting together. For the good of to getting back to racing competition. So a very, very tap over secret sculptures. For that, but by keeping them updated on ensuring the TV, products. And the livestream is still decide we hugged once we get at rising best phones this will see the value. That gotta be getting because we'll people look watching, TV and large street. Let's talk about the manufacturers because of this crisis is pandemic crisis has been tough for everybody but. You had your own challenges with manufacturers a couple of years ago back in twenty eighteen more generally though how do you see the autistic station of manufacturers in this votes in future? Obviously, the the rationale for them to invest not hasn't really changed scenario -bility to do. So the level of investment clearly will juice in the short term but how important do you feel that will be to them I think that will depend zone on on what that looks like going forward. You know way studying a very close contact with a manufacturer saw the whole crisis. You know it's no secret that they they wait for the world championship. Either twelve months ago And that was fine because the whole marketing. Strategy was to get behind new technologies as to whether that be high-grade or electric, and we were ready to turn electric at that's on. As we go forward. The way I said I think internal combustion engine racing still has a place in motorsports, but probably, properties had probably the Romantics among south the fans out there. The few CHEP for manufacturer involvement will be. Will be the new technology whether that's hybrid or electric moronic suspected. We believe that's going to be electric. And the plan of the FAA's for the World Championship to Be Electric Twenty, twenty, two bats when I think was thought saying manufacturing boom combating may be a year after that once they they see the championship from running for a year to see how it goes on and that's when the marks dollars will come back in. But the clan and the strategy would be Knox not to lead internal combustion engine racing behind sightsee. Positive signals from from the manufacturers near Williams about new direction of travel. Yeah I. Mean we face the more regularly just getting updates where with Very. Happy to just keep us updates. She'd obviously. We've announced now that we will actually get electric racing douay this weekend in swayed with project eight, and we're very excited about that and you know. We got kimbrell coming along which will help hugely as a well known night and he's read it slice to embrace electric. So I failed that we're on the right trajectory and the manufacturers very cain obviously we can. Be Very heavily involved with him cummings project. And we've been speaking stemming. In UK regularly trulock donal ago Kenzi Boca and how they can help just looking further forward than oversea. You've got your your your this weekend will be interesting to see how that goes with the project eighty. But what what other steps are you taking future-proof proof the series looking to innovate but at the same time maintaining that Cole Fan base in the balance. Between Electric internal combustion engine, etc it's it's difficult to fathom what's what's your? What's your sense? Tell you about the future proof I, think my deal on that is the radical with very fortunate across the right across weekend, we have eighty races because you've got a number of support categories though in terms of future prepaid the the sports if you like. We can combine bunks. So what I mean by that is the vision will be the well, championship does go electric. In Two, thousand, twenty two but the support categories whether it's euros supercar super sixteen hundreds will still stay into a bastion Jim because as private is out as as 'cause out that still be racing somewhere. So if we got it right and that is the way it's combining the. So, certain that the traditional rallycross fans you know unless there's a noise to it or role than open one nine but there's always element is a human nature is I'd I'd like it but I'm GonNa chewed just what I'd like it and then I think when they understand when they save technology behind it and the fact that these calls Would appear to be false and that will. Then, stop watching a a crossover coupled with the younger generation people, and now a look into vehicles and that looking electric vehicles to buy an January will be hatches the all the calls that are going to be competing in Rallycross. You know whether it's the photo, Persia will be W. Bats the market these guys, and they'll be able to relate to the 'cause they conceal with caused by and and. All the old the young people I'm speaking to my kids. Generation Electric Vehicles. That's what they're looking at electric vehicles. If you WANNA drive in the city said not just talking about capital sixties now. SIXTIES AROUND EUROPE And the world you'd have to have an electrode with some. So to get it in question how quickly it comes it's interesting. Isn't it? Because obviously, the move towards decarbonisation in dispose was coming anyway obviously forms working on these bio-fuels aerobicy committed to hybrid for the foreseeable future. Full Marie in very strong position having the you know the license from me is electric prototype racing but do you see when you tell them about the drive towards sustainability? Do you see that accelerating now menu of us you made this step but looking around you at the landscape, you see what patch would have a slightly longer horizon is now coming shelter to the full before everything elite now has to focus on. Really sustainable multiple. I think for a number of reasons one. Probably anybody else insisting probably realized. Just how clear cleaner the ares in lockdown unit be less planes flying around just outside London but the but the traffic and the pollution is dropped massively nothing statistics show that just proves. What a good thing for the Environmental Bay if they're, you know if there's less combustion. Engine vehicles in A. On the roads unless planes so that'll help become factious had a great time with moving. New Vehicles New call. So that's GONNA accelerate the future's going to light and I think. To Mama wants consumers understand that futures coming in coming quick The ones that are sitting on, don't make the purchase will purchase. Electric vehicles old VIC was A. Diesel or petrol as the future you know what? Time to electric bike sales said concrete reasons not now and I think that'll my Job original question will mean A. Saw embraces electric vehicles much quick. Would've done it. Back to the issue of. Getting people back into the to the venues. What's your sense of of what twenty one will look like in? We'll be back to normal at some point in twenty twenty one now is it likely to take longer than that? What was what pays telling you that transition? We're not going to get back to normal levels at a I in twenty twenty, one straightaway I think it all depends on how quickly we find a vaccine. And how quickly? People except going back to racing again, motorcycles innocence has a huge advantage in that. We're. Also competes a much wider area so it's not a contained stadium so that does allow it. It's budgies if a social distancing again, going to events in A. One hundred nights hod your to control, but the other hand it makes it easier to open up because if you. You're not sitting in the grandstand next to somebody else. And you saying challenges that faces a call. Now, you may have to limit grandstand capacity and you may have to limit of. GIGN there is a white back quicker than potentially for football and rugby and and again the athletes can be contained so I think I think it depends how quickly it comes back I think that'd be an element to come next year. The fans will be so fed up with not able to go to events do anything over twelve month period. Especially, the younger generation, we have got a younger audience that we will see him coming back. A don't seem coming back to two thousand eighteen nineteen level straightaway think might second time. And then of the series the. Coastal urban but You I. DO believe it'll come back and I suspect sort of halfway through next season is what I would hope we can stop getting back to to where we previously Unjust. Thinking forward to to the way, the sport connects of your is fast dynamic. It's engaging lends itself to digital media. lends itself to social media sets but what innovations are you saying or you anticipating over the years that's going to help Ospel to to grow at sites engagement? I think one of the. We've been speaking to one of us. You know a main sponsor bolster on. This is the traditional sponsorships again, already struggle in. The substrate mobile had been changing anyway from the Women Vicennium license particular school to actually return on investment. What we found is that a lot of of sponsors onces want to do activation sites. Because of this hope they can't do that. So we don't gotta be running with fans issues. So we've had to try and create new models to now. Brand out there an interact and I know that he's going to be content. So, what we'd be working on freeze whole lockdown with both Creighton not teacher that's presented by. The gives fans something more than they would marry had You know it's not just content embrace footage because that's what Bro Causes. It's beyond that. So A. And it's a way of interacting with It's going to be more along competitions. That we're GONNA create a monster studio that's online. It'll. I will be free to a and the whole point about that is to build up the audience erratic cross, but also bringing a New Orleans. So we will be back next week It'll be on the Sunday. He off the WHO list What we will have thirty minute show and it will sell the wrx platform. And it'll be into costs. And another platforms as well and it's GonNa. Be. For your old of years on one of those. So it's a cross between ten Gi Friday full focus it the couch Paul calls. It's an element of although seeks to try make it fun. And I think baddies one area where we're going to have to embrace. New Ideas, new technology a but I think that there is a day. I'm finally pull 'em oversee. We've seen throughout this summer and very, very strong messaging increasing the from FAA about racing. For Purpose, I'm saying all kinds of drive to woods diversity accessibility forty talked about sustainability accepted. You think we're at the point now where where spoilt has to demonstrate a sense of purpose noted to a future. Yes I think he does and I think we're at a very strong position to late that and any speed lead. You know it's been started let by and I think people will take nights. Three sport is a different way of getting people's attention and You know we've been a weeping fortunate because rally costs is wanted to know spoilt while champions relative for you. So there's not a lot of various the breakdown you. Allow Street while champions the tink principles of women. Who picked the world championship trophies at the end of the year, which is with with you know she's Hanson and. That's fantastic with the support categories we've got radic cross lends itself to the cause being at that Sade we've been able to have. A number of disabled with drivers. Compete But that's in the cars. fancying in your supercar by older, we go competing this year in the whole season. So with starting at process would not there yet and it's still not good enough that it needs to be. More diversity currently is using different backgrounds, but because it's not an expensive motorcycles to enter that brings barriers down straight away that he thought the middle class of the potentially about is what was agreed issues. In a case that have got talent potentially having the availability we hope through his in other areas, they can then start getting into it. And everybody always always thinks about his drivers, but it's not when you look other areas in the industry. United media a thought Titians disease keep berries room for targeted people from diverse backgrounds to get involved another living out of the school, and that's what we're trying to encourage. On testing a great note in which to finish. Thank you so much for making the time and the very best to let your Resta- account. Wait to sit it's such a spectacular Bob. Spanish GP Review and Analysis Of Marc Marquez's Massive Highside
"Hello Welcome to the tank Cypress podcast, autosport and the Motorsport Network podcast for all things to wield host list can joining me as ever as motorsport dot, global multi GP editorial push damone. Endure it I imagine it's been quite love weekend for you. How are you? Yeah, I'm retired, but yeah. Good up to all adrenaline. We've been going on during the weekend with not. Really good news and some other news. But yeah, it's been. It's been I I would say. Yeah intense. I again of the Yeah I. think that's fair. It's been a strange wheat because we've had the task on the Wednesday, and and you know so. It's very rare. We come into weekend. Have already had track action, so he is a strange one, but. Yes a lot of news to cover. An suppose there's only one place to start and that as Marquez. The Honda rate of the road champion had a massive accident on lap twenty two the race where he broke his arm. He is going to have surgery on Tuesday. He is not GonNa race at the end. Lithium Grand Prix this weekend. You'RE A. well first of all give us everything into you new on Marquez on the market situation world. I think he's going to take search ready. Then, am at ten am in the morning duct. Duct told me would Make that surgery I didn't know if it would be mark I gotta or diverse than mark I'd I don't know, but they are one after the other one. in and then yeah, it's all. It all depends on skates. It all depends. On if If the nerve. Is affected or not. If if that's the case. The recovery will be. Much longer than than expected. The big fears that he's he's damaged. The radial nerve which can be seriously damaged can be career ending injury for more sacred racer. Believe Steve Placer. The Lamont Winter. That's his career ended, so there is a lot of concern. It seems I think Dr Mir said today. The don't think the has been too badly damaged so. They thank the thank his expectations of racing, Brunel, or or K., but of course we were not going to know until after surgery. That will be fantastic to be honest steadily fantastic as far as I know. I've been talking to two different people at the Our readers and listeners known we are still not allowed to be the father. Look so I I've been talking through the phone to different people into the and they told me they all agreed that yesterday. There was a be the quarry. Working on the by the day where beat rail bite the. Dust make any sense about Martha situation even could brothers worked on expunged? Words were worrying a contributing. He said that mark was for he aware of them. Of the situation that. was really really important injury. So, we were a bit choked about the possibility of disaster. Being filled really serious. With. These mornings works of Dr me. We are a bit more relief. Let's wait and see tomorrow that than this can be confirmed and. Yet, done dinner East not effective. I would say that I don't to be honest. I, don't get if he comes back off or. Work I, just want him. Back Yeah, I totally agree with us. It's the biggest shock about is. We've never really seen mark in this possession. You know he's he he he he's made a robbery doesn't break. He's had big crashes and he gets up and walks away. This is. Such a surprising thing because we've never seen it before, so. Yeah. It's a strange is just after that race. The whole situation with markets just felt strange. Because, of course, the main thing knows that it's completely opened up the championship. Yep at the thing is that I agree hundred percent with you. About this thing that he's never been facing this kind of injuries in the past, so I be I was talking to another at the member from another team. No, they just see and hear studying me. Listen a few ex. Former writers from the by the Oak Dot me listen. You could see yesterday. That, he was not afraid at. About crushing why they believe it's because he never had to face. Up Proper injury I mean. Yeah. He had that injury on on modern times on. Multiple Times the one. Provoke team WBZ. It Westbury said use CEUS, but it was not nothing like the one he had yesterday you know. so. That, dare theory about why he was racing this way why I mean he was. Able recover that raise. He was left five when he had these. When he went through. Gravel. He was sixteenth at nine second from analysts who is leading the race at that point and in sixty racist. He recovered a take on from analyst and he was really behind him. When he had the high tide another. As well. If you look at the long run, analysis from lap, Tanna thank until mock crashed. He wasn't slower than Quad Toronto. Who by that point was the race leader? And he wasn't slowed vanilla either so you have you know there was a very real possibility had to pass. You wouldn't have won the race, but he would have been very very close to far bill at the end of that had he stayed on the bike? which just shows who? Have incredible first of all how incredible Marquez a raider, but have incredible has pace had been all weekend because he should have won not grown pre. There's no. There's no two ways about that was has raced to lose yet. That's what that's what I mean. I mean that the statement he. Did yesterday. To me and I think that not only to me about two more of the writers of decreed was even more impressive than a win. Because Yeah we've seen many times mark winning with six seven advantage. Okay, it's another win. But I mean what he did yesterday to me. What's much more impressive than we hope? And we wish markle the best, and we hope to see him back on the bakes and. Let's talk about the race went up because we do have in your race promoter GP, funnily enough on his twentieth grown pre twentieth, more GP race number. Twenty is a more GP race. Wonder Fabio Quad Toronto. You know, yes, he. Marquez. The race, but he made A. It was a legitimate race would for Quasimodo EGO. Stock painted two caddies e cleared the DECAF which you know, we Yamahas isn't as probably slow spike in the speed trap. No, you know Quattro was twelve kilometers an over off of zero shows all weekend, so you got past them any past. As an any dominated the race that's. Expected from them I. Mean four credits to him I mean. Don't forget that, Indian. forget or what we've said, which is to me on the percent. Through unsure. What we've said about mark. But in the end, he made a mistake and raise Weiner. Is. Normally, who doesn't make any mistakes and Fabio did make me state yesterday, so he's a forty Raise we not, and he deserved that. We even I think. He I mean since last year he was serving dates this week. Show I'm really happy for these for these young guy. And hopefully these wean will. Take. OUTTA! beat up wait from his. Back you know what I mean I remember speaking with him on winter. And he was saying okay, if I'm jumping to the, does she theme? Without any race win. It's going to be okay, but. I'm Honda percent sure that it was not the case. So now Broglie he can. you know and breath a bit more relaxed. I imagine it was a little bit of news main. Because of course, they had to two races last year with Mark Mazzano and Thailand repeal beaten on both teams, and I imagine for a racer. Even a rookie you know must. Put pressure on our widen, what should have one can I went races? So yeah, he's gotten up monkey off his back in. You know with Marco this weekend. You know fabulous a rick for very very similar on pace and practice. You have to think that Fabio is no favorite. To to add to that. To that witness this. Yet, but they think that my research and I I mean despite what he said after the race. I think maybe they. Both my combined made a mistake on under front tyre. Choice. I'm. Pretend. Commendable that I'm convinced. Maybe I'm wrong, but. I'm going to be that because he was saying all the time after the straight after the race, he was doing this gestures about losing their from closing the front of the time, so I can. I can imagine that we have beat more. Support Them Front. it would have been easier for him to stay in the bike so and to keep this pressure on the front, so do me the number again that. but in Dino and maverick were they only want with a shopper so? I would say that. Let's wait and see if Maverick can gin address this this thing. Yeah, it was an odd. I still don't really get why. Maverick win for the software untie, because no one else dead and attempt to halt for I know what he said afterwards that he's plan noise to try and build a gap early on, but we saw by lappy tire gone. You almost crashed tone six. You know front end moment same as mark. I I can understand why Valentino did it because he had nothing to lose, he was never going to win. The race maverick just doesn't seem. I. Don't know why Yamaha allowed him to make that decision because. Throw practices where we saw India Indian the writers. The one having the feeling Jones is the is the final decision, the final call on the choice, but what I would say. Is that I? Don't understand why he studied risk. It's. Silly it was a waste of because he very nearly, if market state outright and fabulous air, you've maverick. Mate finished off the podium with the pace of ditsy. So in the end strange says that's why not understand why why he took. That that respect enumerating. She's GonNa learn from that help so. She's not going to win. The championship keeps me. We're tired choices. I mean. I'd this weekend's Herath race I asked Maverick this and the press conference. Is it going to be more important for Yamaha? We're going to Bruno and red bull ring where power is needed in the gamma doesn't really have that. He brushed off by suspect. The Yamaha Artsy seriously. Looking at this weekend is being a racist. They need to win. Because you know you have to think too caddies. You know. Use, who said the bake felt better on an Cata, which is very much a DECAF circuit, so he thinks Bruno and red bull ring should decani more because his feeling will be better. So you have to think that this weekend is really crucial for Yama. Maverick cannot afford to make another slip-up. Yeah, and the percent on the pretend broadly he will win, he will sorry. He would learn from last weekend or the wise I'm going to give up and So yet because we don't expect Different temperatures I mean we don't expect a weather change. In in here like. From from from one week to week to to the other one, so yeah I think that Yamaha had a really strong package broadly, the the the strongest from the last I mean broadly know how the percent the stronger stronger. And from the last year, so yeah and conceding that might be racing there. I think we'll have. Yamaha will have plenty of options with both five and Maverick Let's see. If Valentino can can Grew theistic up. with the other words, yes, interesting Valentino because he said he's teachers can't get the tires to what. Maverick in Fabio can. Although fabulous, said the bike he felt was more difficult to read, but. It's a new bake so. You can understand that DECAF I want to talk about because a pepper strange weekend again because Miller was quite fast, and so as Packard by, they're not really struggling with the tire Davinci also and patriarch, the struggling to spend the rear because there's a grip. And Dove is just not happy doesn't look happy with the bake. He said place was like a victory, but he says speeds not there. The feelings, not their. Strange strange one was to catty. Yep Yeah. I wasn't breath with pickle. Shows I mean that's. The kind of Paker that we all Wanna Wanna see racing and his. As well yeah. Percent as far as I know Any decision has been made regarding next year on Primerica. Don't forget that that. That, we. Heard that we really done? John. East dawn is not done I. Don't like and. I assure you that the is not done and. And because it's, it's no point on China Kim before racy. So That's what that what do Gotti was waiting for a Baker reaction. To. was waiting for him to adapt to the dismal chee at more. Than last year because he's writing style was pretty much a multitude writing style. And they were waiting for him to to get closer to this model. Be styled, and after what we've seen in the thing. He's definitely doing it, so let's let's see here. because yeah, he was spree close to Jack. Even. Yeah Yeah for sure you have to thank with a weekend of experience on the bake coming back to the same circuit. Paco you know not not a bad bet for him I would have thought. Talk About Katie A. quickly because police ball grow a second away from the podium, all very good, but it's the man. On the second factor Katie Baker wants to talk about Brad Bender. Because he made a mistake at one point in that race, but I had he not done not his pace, he had podium pace. He did say yes. Okay I was on my own and you know it would have been different if I was the group, but even as a rookie and those punishing conditions over twenty five laps to an consistent podium pace. And you first race that's. Katie him of honest Jim Broadband. Yeah I I think that he has shown. We all know were all aware about his potential but yet. Is Ready Difficult. To Express yourself as a writer in your rookie year in a multi like he'd eat, and he's been sending these kinds of messages since he per jump into biking the procedure. So which is Pretty Amazing Newton in each abrasive because I'm in many times are really good motor to ride. That are chomping. Doom demolished should be bike into. What he's mechanics is able to give very good feedback and. Yeah. It's just. We haven't seen a rookie performance. Wow! Am Fabulous last year if he doesn't have. Stall on the grid. A longtime. Jump on a Baker's difficult as A rookie and be as good dessert this is. I'm very very excited to see her. Brad gets on this weekend with all that experience under his all that data. And about this one lap speed, I remember I. Remember. I was very impressed with him in Qatar in precision tests because he was one of the fastest. I think he would frustrate the body. Pay On if I if I remember what so and I was very breath and very keen to to see the best the best from from Kia saying this this weekend keys looking into to seek his teammate pushing him because he's the only way than he can even improve and don't forget that he will need to improve because next. Supposed to be the the the mark. Just a quick Michelle mentioned Michaela. Consistent show. Alex Market needs needs to make to make a step. Am Glad. You mentioned in Mecca one of their, because he dead pillow the race with some physical issues, which you know to be fair, a lot raiders did want to vets use. WHO said there was a couple of times where he was going to give up. But like is up and eleventh at one stage I think so. Good effort from him. and just finally APPRECIA- a strange weekend, because the pace am the tasks. A leash was quick as anything but. He said the loss to configure the phones on the for the race, but any crashed, but he's convinced that the Bates has pace was closer to the podium than what they were able to show so. They. They're able to show this pace, but they're not able to short. Few I mean the problem with areas that they have a problem with the engine. which is. Yeah. It's not an easy. How Morbidelli Took His Maiden MotoGP Win
"Hello and welcome to the tank separate podcast autosport in the Motorsport Network podcast for all things to wield is host Lewis, Duncan join me as ever it's Oriole Person Manure I. Think it's safe to say we are both pray fried after another imagine Mo- GP. We can yeah I. Think we are we are happy whereas happy as destroyed. Equally. So yet but yeah I mean yesterday the race was really really really good. So yeah, hope we're going to get more of those I. Yeah. I mean there's no suggestion that it's not going to happen because we're six races ed no nurse is just nuts there's no farm gay does snow we've got four new winners satellite raiders when brilliant. We have a brand new winner and Franken Morbidelli probably is going to be the most popular result of the season settling one of them because Franco is such a nice guy, such a wealth late guy in the product but it was such a brilliant rate. You know Y- dominated that race defended off Rossi. Pefect I think is the only word to describe it yeah. I think Miami. was very happy that they that the. Best. Way, to to to to describe it because his body Nice Guy Clever veiling television and betty different I'm not saying than all the others. Are Less. But but he's I mean yeah. He's like normal guy which pretty. Yeah. A rare at this at this stage, the comparison I made a role feature which will walk by the time you've had this as. Compared. The GP poject if it's like thrash metal than Franco is like reggae laid back superchilled. Not, really a motorcycle racer. One. Star and I mean he is, but he doesn't doesn't behave lake it exactly which is the best. Way To this graph. Be Writer Yeah Yeah. Yeah, it's a great story Franco's because it's not. It's not been an easy road for him. To get to this point, you know he started and. He started racing didn't have money went to superstock six hundred, which not really a place for more GP raiders to come. I was actually looking at the result sheets from the two thousand seventeen season which Frankel one the names are just. So many of them are just disappeared off. The face of the planet and there's You know there's Franco is marked his way up in a tragedies life as. But he Took every opportunity that Rossi gave him through the academy through Motoo and It's a great great story. Yeah, he's sumarized. Really. Good yesterday in the for me when he said a few years ago was here a racing on the Italian championship. But now I'm here winning onto a race so yet but he at the same time, he was completely relaxed he was yeah, overwhelmed of. But yeah. I mean it was. It was fantastic. Yeah for sure. It's you think Israel last year wasn't. Wasn't an easy year forum it wasn't a budget, but then fabio comes along and just. Blew the doors wide open a nice boat to Franco before the weekend and he admitted he said look I got my kicked by Fabio. I never had that before so. Over the winter, it forced him to re thank you force them to to get mentally physically tougher as well. And, the results have been there that she was strong in the Spanish grand. Prix was heading for podium and Angeles the before the engine problem Brignoli was on the podium after leading Australia was difficult but the pace has beaten air more often is been a rival for fabulous year and of course. Were all came together. Yeah, he spoke with you spoke with the Roman for gala about about Franco and he told me listen the the diagnosis with last year was. Dan we did then he didn't show the real potential. for. Different reasons than he how Say that. Broke his but during winter working physically mentally as weather. Now he's much stronger. He I mean, may you look at him and you see that this his body has changed is much wrong with muzzles and and even mentally he has changed because he has used Fabio example as a boost for him to demonstrate to show that his potential and then which is the lake let's say the fairy tale story. Yeah for sure. It was a fairytale and it was a contrasting fortunes from Franklin, Fabio because Fabio of course. Lew like he was going to be the guy to beat in the race along with Rick didn't get a great start. Any stuck behind maverick and he said he too excited. Frontier, pressure went up when got clearly crashed and. You know these mistakes. You know he's only any second year so mistakes will happen Baugh. Can help. But feel a big opportunity went away from him yesterday because he's loss attempting chip league noted you also in Dovey was nowhere is. But I mean he just needs to recover them calm because Matali plummeting six point three point. Nine six points behind W. so it's nothing than Dhabi yesterday was seventh. nothing. So yeah, I would say that this is is just he needs to find a comma GAM. Because he's been fast during the weekend and it just a mistake. For example, I would be much more worried if I maverick or thinking on Maverick. than thinking on Fabio because it is a mistake I mean when you do a mistake you know and you know why? Is My easy but the problem for example with mark is that he doesn't have any. Explanation. So he doesn't know why. His are completely lost on. Sundays. So in the case or Fabio yeah he made a mistake maybe he was too. Yeah. He dollars that he was over cited brolly a tomboy he wanted to reduce the gap. And he crashed. He did a mistake you in white and he crashed but yet may mean, as you say, it's only technion montage. and. Despite what he says, I mean, what's the pressure? This is the pressure. When you try to? he was worried about the possibility of Franco going away. So he was pushing pushing pushing okay that this kind of pressure I'm not talking about depression of winning the championship pressure of winning the championship but this is the pressure. So yeah. He made a mistake but I think he he will be Baghdad in front next next weekend s an interesting point Reyes Vanilla because you know all we can look strong pole position with a lap break and then he said to me in the debrief a went from being a lot records show to be in a code for the raiders on track and it's. The same, it's the same problems and they don't know what the problems are. He said, he went. He was the only one who for the hardware Taibbi decided that wasn't a factor and I I saw I believe that because he was strong all weekend on the hard tire. But it's happened again you're in new this has happened for years. No, it's not case of a few racist is two three seasons this continue to happen I. Mean I was that as well as the debris and when somebody asked him is maybe something in your head and he said In my head I mean Saturday. afternoon I broke the lap record. I got position I was very happy and Senate race. I have forgotten how to ride a bike. There's a possible what popular but the we I mean they are all human. People and they all have these guys enough pressure. And yet I mean, which is. Clear is that something is happening to him and if he hasn. What's going on with the bike? He doesn't have any. Explanation from Yamaha. So. What's the point? Maybe it's I mean it's crazy. We goes Rossi is much slower. Friday Saturday Sunday boom even Rossi told less than there are writers like Maverick being. Really, really fast on. Practice sessions. On qualifying and on dusting. N There are other kind of writers like him that he struggles much. On on on BRAC decision but on Sunday, they arises won't more canny. He's done. He's done the baker owned up. Saito numerous teams. Yamaha. So he doesn't have an answer, but yet it's only had an struggles with it and nuts. That's strange thing in his add what I mean only the holiday time were will. what was Containing. An after that she the season's Yama how it would make in the future bigger combined you need to do a change. Okay. Now he has signed two more years with Yamaha but let's see what happened. I these year and then next year. Because I'm. Tom Boyne somebody has to take a decision. If I mean yesterday he thought let's listen this. What happened in the last thirty racists with Yamaha okay. To Boyne, you need to change something he decided to up to Yes. Hey, goodbye drama for gala and he took seven Garcia. and. Did. We not this any change not really or even? Yes. But in the wrong way. Yeah. Yeah, you look as well. Did the change of crew chief for Caddo into with Morbidelli and look you know look look look were. So it's Like a straight, the thing is not I'm not I'm not saying than I'm not. I'm not saying than forget ice but the crew chief than Stan I'm just saying than. the. Impact. Of the any grew chief. is much less important than the brain or the head of the Ryder. That's again sure. Maybe I like to say, but you think Nova Novas is maybe regretting. NOT PURSUING DECANI OPTION A little bit harder. I think so I don't think so because I, think that this I mean if he believes that the that the problem is the bike. I mean. Look at the with shopping. Tro I. Wouldn't say I wouldn't say so I think that it's more. Hit to work on himself, he needed to work on on on together with the team together with his and rise trying to reinforce his. Mental strength and then. Just, trying to avoid. Falling into this. Horse. For show. The rest of the podium was an interest in poetry and we had. Second despite high stover, you still hobbling on crutches legs though ric. Amazing. And is he's frustration July as well as I think that's support has been overlooked too low, but it's easier orange bit on the lake for a long time. I. Knew it was incredible the whole weekend fast. You have to save very timely as well because of course to cashiers. Nearing their decision. Tweeden. Xining the the is already. Done. And I think the decision was already done before this race but. They like to play this game. They like cleaning game yet. But sadly, if you know if we hypothetically say that there's still decide and then by assuredly. He's see security is why why would you put Zakho in debate over biking I? If we look at docker soccer was fifteenth by the second broken legs boring I mean there's no point I mean he deserved that bike but not for this race I mean we've been saying that. For many weeks I mean yet. There's no point on on not giving him this right I mean and don't forget that. I think he will put Miller in trouble next year. Yeah for sure I mean Yeah I. Get I don't forget than. Disrespect by that the one that. Really smashed in motor to I mean this is the real. One. We were expecting the last year a wet, maybe not fighting for the volume from their Fritz raise but these he's time. So for jet and finally John Mirror you know. Another that overtaken Rossi was superb. That was a sensational race in from Jordan and. Doing exactly what you needed to do on a case he's not really gonNA, well, Mazzano so to Gab result Lake that for a championship this yeah this. Is a good Boden next week. Yeah I think his his his. Growing Buddy fast I mean he's building his confidence he now. I mean he's Than last year I mean yesterday everybody was I mean everything was very thoughtful him. He was not able to to make this rookie work now everybody looks easy on him. He's capable in his growing up match much faster and he's yeah, he's building up. His confidence and I think that he will. He will deserve a win on the percent. It's coming you know there's not a matter of F- it. He was ways when I mean it should happening in Austria. Because he was two and a half. A windpipe seconds ahead when bananas Christ. anything that it's going to happen sooner than later. for sure. You have to think as well that perhaps. I think for the first time this season. You know a wedding may not be. Totally impossible for Valentino? Rossi you know good weekends. All you know all all weekend. He was good. D'Amato. You know and not podium fight right to the end didn't quite have the pace of that top three. You know strongest he's looked for a long long time. Yes. Zano home soccer eat raids lot there but still you know it doesn't. It's looking better than it did it has done for for a while yet but. I mean hundred percent yesterday I was really thinking whoa maybe. visit. This is day today's Day I thought I thought the same as well but I mean after that. Trying to analyze to the situation at the same time I thought listen abutting Tino has been struggling. Very, much with the rear consumption, I mean with the real tire consumption. So considering. That the tires now are playing huge. Impact and a huge role. On the racists. Maybe. He still needs to be more time to try to find the right balance because. The drop, the tire. it makes a has a huge impact on needs. Yesterday a tomboy listen maverick is trying to is holding him back just. Getting. You know waiting for the moment to attack when the others would have. No no more retire. But yeah, I think he he wait a bit more. With too much. To One guy that was never relate the racist yesterday was Ditsy also, but he leads the championship. No, which just goes to show you, I, mean. I, think at this stage last year seventy, nine points covered was the championship lead for Marquez. Diverse. You so own seventy seven points. Something that just goes to show. You have mad this championship is being. You know same old issues. Fidel v tire doesn't really walk. It's and it's not as if it's a consistent problem that doesn't work every seems to be a different problem every soccer with the tire whether is braking or acceleration. As I. Just I I remember I really don't have an answer for the for what's wrong. Because he doesn't really know how to fix a problem either as bizarre because you look at the other day caddies. Strange. Yeah Yeah. On the percent I mean. It's it's ready people to to. Yet will have an explanation about that because he. Broadly, the most consistent. rider degree in I'm not saying that he's a consistent on the top, but he's consistent I mean he's normally always in that position an an now. He has more APPs announced than ever before. So yet tumbling Nathan. I think the same time I think that. The Adobe Undergrad, they will find the. Yet you have to think that'll happen because it happened before happened to those seventeen and at the same time at the same time I think that if they. Do that. This is his ear. Yeah he's dead. This is what a couple of raiders noted over. The weekend is the threat from The Not quit create knows that he's consistent when he will quick, you'll be consistently quick and you know we're coming up to some good to cathy tracks Zana's. Zano deb Aragones pretty good lemond is not bad for the Cassie boss alone. So the F cats, he can get that thing. the relationship to cassie between. Dolphin, the team is not really all that harmonious right but and I think that. This report unity identing. They're not gonNA waste with these kind of. Things. I don't think it'll be that but there was comments made by Casey. Davi was asked about them. You Know I. said to Kathy puts too much emphasis on data not. was asked about it and. He didn't answer but you can see these face really did want to answer it. and. I. Think the problem that could trip up the cats as if the lesson into the raiders so much then. You, have A. Question walkaway while. Yeah. I mean, there's there's this even happened in two, thousand, seventeen I mean w always had the doorway. Dobie always has had this impression. Don. Didn't. Give Him So much. Relevancy. And not being I think that is the main reason why he's leaving that the. Yeah for for sure you kind of see if you see the dread bill documentaries, the undaunted documentary can. Comments from GD lenient in particular of. As obvious. The dollars per law entity cassie an he deserves a lot more love than he seems to have been shown particularly by ged. Pal Paolo Avid Definite of more sensible heads within decanting care about more about the raiders. But the head Honchos in Dominica Delineated seemed to be sort of the problem also that's my from the outside but yeah. Why I mean I mean it's not just. In the end it negotiating always always I mean they both have a huge ego because they both. Are Really really really good on their site or on their jobs. But. It's difficult. When they have to work together on one they have to you know say okay. It is not easy and that's why they need to find a common way to go into going. To try to solve these problems because otherwise they're gonNA lose a huge opportunity. To in this state the. For sure one, hundred percent agree with that. Just finally I want to talk about radios that we talked about this a little bit. In the preseason. What were your thoughts on? Because there's obviously this radio thing safety thing talks of a being late Formula One and some rain just saying that's GonNa make more to GP to machine light others like Rossi Allingham may be all right what? I think it would be amazing. To be, honest. I think it would be. Than that sprint race than there is no dobbs than there is no, you know my thing. That would be up loose for the that would be a for their spectators for the show. Yeah. Well, yeah. No. This is the cockroach. So said the this I asked him about the on one of a niece advil could you imagine if mean Jack had radios? You know. That's a sad saying you look at what happened in form now with. Guys like Lando, Norris, who've. used. The raiders really effectively and Allows fans a little bit of. A bit more access to the drivers never be good for the raiders a passion I don't see ever get. And more GP 'cause I think it would be a bit too distracting. 'cause I can't imagine how someone talking to your ear when you're from left to right to to this. issue. I don't think we'll get to that point but a lot of people go who's going to ruin the race in it's GonNa make it Boreham but. That's Not really an argument as raced race in isn't dictated by radios. would be really really would for the show and and then yeah, as Roy said. Didn't think be DNA would be leading interesting with radios would be affected now now. For the race for that for the radios I mean, what? What can they tell you? I, mean you have the board you have. Got One foster foster foster. That would. Yeah Yeah there is no live telemetry GP right now. Oh, it's. Nothing. Really GonNa Change unless they have life telemetry, but you could easily just that would be the end of it. So it's not. A lot of people making a bigger problem. than. Yeah. Over there is always half this kind of people which is I mean, okay I respect them all. By this inaugural we have to keep the spirit of okay. I mean we are not coaching speed at all. We are just making more fun more fun and that's what we want and I think that's a very good note to end on your. Thank you very much and thank you to the listeners for join us and always been a couple of weeks. But you know there's eight more racist to come in ten weeks. Progressive Casualty Insurance Company and affiliates price and coverage match limited by State Law. It's that time of year again. Radebe starts today as the World Rally Championship Kinship really heads into the business end of the season with the first of three events that will decide the best and the title on technically timings tighter but citrine semester nausea isn't going to give up on his seventh consecutive title without a fight and Hindus. Terry novell still chasing his first now. Usually I say I'm your host Joel but this song that position my colleague David Evans on Wednesday night he hosted alive podcast that is what you might call a crossover episode between the podcast and the new gravel notes podcast as the name suggests it covers all things rallying cover the world stage and well beyond so have a listen and if you like it please de-subscribe just just such a gravel notes and your podcast supplier of choice now. David Evans is joined by all sorts of well known names for this life podcast which recorded and the sports service service parked including four times Reggie when a petter Solberg and his son Oliver Twenty Seventeen with a Elfyn Evans Hayden padden and spotting principal rich milner and many more so it's over to you David Hello and good evening from plan did note landed my do. I say that right did not yet. There's nothing worse than an English from trying to say Blanda Nerissa. Nothing was so welcome to 'em salt. What's Service Park we are here. This is also sports preview to run. AGP Wales Rally TV and joining me obviously is Elvin Evans former winner two years ago winner of this rally so welcome welcome home. Thanks always really nice to. It's obviously be backing unready on ready to to compete home. Obviously you know two three months ago. It was doubtful when I'd be back to be honest but obviously thankfully got the green light and obviously really happy to be an I mean it is. It's such a big deal isn't it. I mean missing. Three rallies is hard enough but the prospect of missing this one would really hurt. I think Colin onto size of the of the coin really no one obviously it's the whole family and you're too but secondly you know if you miss fall rallies and there's there's only two left in the year. You know you feel like you've made such a massive chunk. Then at least we have three rallies to together. TV Okay well. Let's jump straight in to rally. Gb I saw oh you on the on the record today at lunchtime and tell us about stages. How are they looking on the whole really really good to be honest. especially the Saturday stages are in exceptional conditions to be honest year-on-year. I think like it's the best route like dovey. especially is very very fast. Sunday stages while looking looking pretty good the first thing I think could be a little bit tricky. you know that first stage and Elsie is new everyone very technical and Nado stage so a bit of a different day for at least the start of a Friday. It's kind of Nice though isn't it very well. Elsie is a tricky. It's kind of a Parkland stage lots of much more technical twisty but then pay mcnew opens out and then you've got governor. Which is I mean? That's a classic isn't it doesn't yeah definitely is obviously slee a bit of a longer variation this again then what we had last year again really yep and then what can we what can we expect. We we saw you win two years ago an amazing victory. You know really emotional win at home. What's possible. Do you think from from you this time coming off the back of your last time you sat in the car competed Estonia in June July. Remember which what are you reckon. Let's here we go. We're doing everything we can to to do as well as we can. There's no set should have trying to bet ourselves in or anything like that way just trying to go for it and and see what happens obviously really nice to win again but obviously we know that you the competition is wholesome and everything has gone away but ultimately you have to aim for for that first place and it's upset with voting and it's kind of difficult than it because you're jumping back into the the middle of a massive championship fight. There's three guys at the front that are absolutely hammering tongs and two three weeks ago. They were doing in Turkey. Does that does that. Make could easy to jump back in or do you just forget that and just get on with what you're doing. I think we have to consider what we're doing. I detest ended last week and the feeling was pretty good uh-huh. Oh I think so long as we can find out with him and things early on then. There's no reason why we we can't fight yeah just one last question for me before vocal. Alvin has to go to satellites up. Who's firstly who's going to win the championship. I'm not going to bet against all right at the MOLINS. He's obviously very strong wrong all year but then step has this massive habit of making a comeback doesn't like it's. It's a difficult one to call. Obviously tell us right as well off any money. I probably have to put it on yeah okay now. We've got some questions from you. The readers watches viewers. Whatever Neil Perry has asked. What are the chances of a podium from your starting position? That's a pretty relevant question. Isn't your obviously a bit further down ninth on the road. Yeah I mean it depends on the conditions basically it it could work very much against as we've seen some years here whether the timesheets tumble by three or four seconds of every car that passes this. Is You know if that's the case then he's obviously going to be difficult but then last year we would also sat second overall starting at the back of the field after the first loop so you know we can't. Sir Assume that because we back that we're not going to be in with a shelter. We have to do the best job we can Let's see what happens at the end yeah okay with a nice stage and have ahead and have you been able to practice driving the dog. Yes money's not a huge amount but some training on the test the marshals were kind enough to to stay onto to let me do some driving so so yeah that was all good and hopefully we can get these set low. These lights set up correctly now than It should be okay but not there's a fascination during the duck yeah. It is a great one well you you mentioned you go off and set your lights up. Actually you're not going to do it right now because hopefully not not going to the call our but you've got a lot of stuff to crack on with Alvin. Thank you very much wish you all who is coming in now. I'm GonNa Switch Position Tame. We've got another Mike. Actually we're going to the MIC because we have been joined joy by Hayden pattern as well first question. We were just talking about hand dark stage on Saturday. Do they know how difficult table it's not with you. How difficult is it to drive staging dark. It's of course more difficult because you cannot shit at margin the long distance so you really need to draw to your base notes and on full more debase notes and that's it yeah we. I mean we've seen some really good performances from you in the past coming through the five car and and into the world car tell me about that step up from the Dr Five Wilco. How difficult is it almond event like this politics pretty big steps in to of course there's pretty good driver and the level of the early high but I will change. WFAN going all the states. He's on the limits and if you make some mistakes you can be in the next state cuts them. No No. It's not GonNa Happen and sorry sorry to say Hayden. You've taken that step in that direction. We'll card down to the five car but it's all a means to an end there isn't that the ultimate is to get back into a world. We'll rent a car next year but you tested the five car day. One actually really add to go back to the farm so so you know this weekend is really just getting smaller spec in the in the seat and I'm do some rallies again but Justin back to you know now era obviously it's a good base for the five of ca but when you get used to the the WC Kaffa so many years to come back to this is actually really really difficult. I mean that the era d-notice area much here on on this event l. a. a lot on the fast and you know not so much but day to here is generally quite fast stages and even though it's covered in mud still working a lot so you hit that benefit okay now you boys are going to do you like says well just before you go tell us about Australia. What can we expect from you obviously earn in and if he has to well rennick are in Australia what's possible. Do you think that wow just to go drive as fast McCain and enjoy it oversee when you've spent a year. LSAT lever which is going to be had the slot right back in the top obviously we want to be there but you've got to be realistic as well so just to be stroke became and going enjoy and do you think we can have whether there was good as this in. Australia really comes from New Zealand. You say I forgot about that and the quick prediction team where you're gonNA finish on Sunday six aw come on until three okay boy. You can do your lights. Thank you very much. We have missed a PETTUS. It's over four time all the time and how it but all of Pets Solberg they stemming correctly yep. We looked down that we can see facing camera. Cameras are there but that's what everybody else can say so. What should we start with. Who's compulsion before you take this enthused. You know I didn't have time. There's no time shave cooler with. Do you think does it. You don't have a bit but what Obama do. I look good site. Let's start with pass over four-time with all of this rally mixed emotions. I mean you've you kind of the farewell tour. We learned a lot about that this year but it's great to evacuate. GB isn't it well the these rallies. It's it's very special you know first of all you know to to have the first victory hair and it also renewed world championship will most racists here after a year and then they ruined last year didn't these actually it's terrible and then having. Phil Mill Sussex also local hero all these things together. It's is making this very very special you know and this is menu reasons why also and over tour hair in Rela Gbi It's a lot of pressure on you know to perform your phone for sure but we will do the best but also I mean above that you've got Oliver who we should move to all of our very briefly question Russian. It was a big week last week. Tell us tell us what happened last week. I've never been so nervous in my life. It can help you with the driving test. You know all the pressure going on already signed signed on for Wales almost trying to pass a driving test. I was very very nervous before but I made it on the second second time on the written test and then I what what do you think just we will move on from this very quickly. What do you remember the question that you got wrong. In theory. Can you can tell all of the all of the people who are watching out there. If you're in Sweden question with embarrassing because you can have the statistics after their correct on the environment I was correct on rules with the one thing I was wrong on. Will the car really thinks on the car. Yes arms and stuff seriously. That was embarrassing did you. You'd I didn't do us. Did you do a written test. Yeah the the written test that in my mind straight away your mom doesn't say after I remember I. I think I did straight away. You don't believe me but I shall. We never had these in England. We probably do now but anyway moving on. I JUST WANNA. I trust you how we've talked about the pressure the foul tool but you've also got Oliver here and you know your running behind Oliver. I'm not sure your fifty three three zero four yeah okay so I think he is. He looks looks like now at the State's Maria. You're in front. Oh me so yeah I you know I'm I'm very first of all. I'm hearing from own race for sure but I'm nervous service well. He's race and having to me I think flashing lights and they have to do the right thing. But how will it be either when you're when you sat behind a new watch him going to the stage because you have got three minutes maybe to focus on your own thing. Can you stop thinking about all of well I will do. You could raise myself to be honest with you about that. I haven't well. I'd I draw thirty days with over scarred last weekend and also made a new car for me to that the tested now on Monday online with forty-five case feel like you know to get the peso's in entrust them and really attack on it. You know it takes a liberal. I think repulsive foster through the race but I don't think will keep up properly with with older drivers from the start but but I will have fun and do the airfield swarming again. Also it's it's fantastic the phone we had on Iraqi interest stories and you know feel have quite dry humour you know and it's coming with this brown brown shoes you know very English and Welsh Garnell. He was because the Irish English well. That's nothing to do with me anyway. Moving on the how's IT WE'RE GONNA be for you to to in Finnish you talk about you know. How do you have maybe seventy this year? You've got a bit more and you certainly had a lot more success. This year have avenue. He's been that's for sure it's been a lot of stage miles and also during the Subaru in America also it's been driving but you know in new. Raleigh Raleigh new experience with roads conditions and it's difficult. It's very difficult conditions. I have to say I didn't expect this difficult really when I drove Iraqi okay okay. I knew it was difficult but not this difficult so I don't really have any expectations. We just want to learn how difficult you driven a lot of. GBD's how how difficult is a strong competitor in terms of grip and commission. I must say that the only part I remember from from this is the sweet lamp heart not to the snake but the part around the rest of me. I never driven before so it's it's it's very different compare with the compared with thirty days but again you know the way they will change as today. It's been great yesterday was big rain fog so you. I know this is the thing you can go drive hundred and ten percents all the time you know you have to have this margin especially if he needs that marge. I say that not only into because now listen the the Eh think this small margin because the level and the mud you know that that adobe I car brings to the side so you can't drive the proper line as you normally won't so in the corner sometimes we'll be tight as a very real sea but I think like all of eighty s going to be difficult in the forest and around the trees these breaches as tarmac on you know a lot of different different things buddies he's good experience and and just have to understand that you have to just learn exactly and damning aspect of the fact thank the road condition gets worse and worse quite fortunately fortuitously you had the St Pr Sdn was first on the road so so it was a rally in America two or three weeks ago and obviously weren't because you went all around in America these days driving for Subaru but what did that help that you have the CIA chain condition. I know you I on the road but it was it was a chance I have to say. I haven't driven probably elsewhere the before before that so getting that experience was was good for this rally and one of the stages hair looks exactly as well as the stages in America really it was like coming home. It felt very felt exactly the same conditions looks very similar so at least one state. I have some experience from weather. Yeah okay now. I think the big question. The question is which Solberg is gonNA finish. I forgot I I heading driving as on the entry ever race you know and sometimes he's driving us. We don't know you know my parents. We don't that's a real shame because he is an entertainer isn't it was always we're talking about pets brother and uncle heading to you so and I guess punters will exactly so you've pumped Pinchas Pontus in a world rally we give him he probably is going to be a bit quicker than you boys but between the two of you tell me. I say my by that because of experience no pressure. I hope it will be have. What are we in terms of. WRC to you what's possible. There is a good strong failed. Could you win. I don't think so I don't think so if you look at you know twenty seven cars isn't it total and you have the pro and the normal logos too but for us. We got the whole list you know. I think it's to cut it up like got. I don't like everybody or nobody you know and I think you know when you have padden Kopetski an old all this all this. Guy Witherspoon Berg and it's GonNa be very hard to guys have a lot of experience so let's as a have have this weekend and hopefully we will do a lot of Brown's wells next year and about this rally is very very special for us for the history and also between us that logo overall hopefully here for many many more years yeah but that's the point isn't it. You know it's a big family weekend. Now really isn't it and we don't need to get to court on the fact that you know you you chasing chasing Hayden pattern any of that just it's experience and it's it's. It's a great way to say goodbye to GV. Yeah we have a lot of people here this weekend's not coming from from all over and and also especially especially Norway and I think I think always Wales is is very very emotional final and they will be definitely very emotional on Sunday afternoon. I hope I really hope but I mean it is because you know you are your name team and everything that you did you know four wins back to back your loved around and you know it's it's for good reason because your character and sometimes some people might not too many characters in our sport now but you understand. The fact that it's a show isn't it. It's not just a sport and everything is everything is to create something. First of all you have the planning strategy for winning you know that's the thing you know but also the enjoyment for for for the show and entertainment but the focus is I will result but let everybody else be a part of this you know and and and and that's why we're here. We have only for many many years and again. I just have to say you know if it wasn't for Malcolm Wilson time I must say I wouldn't have been standing here now and talk about the Law Tigers Histories of because I think he is maybe the only early guide that understands that to create young drivers and build them up and and and the and risk something for the future and I full credit. Maybe I didn't think so much about the DOT com because you're young and you are so hyped on the radio you know when you get older you understand that he had the right philosophy over sport sport to to create windows and he should have a lot of credit for that he should unfortunately he is stuck on the motorway he should be able to that's pretty stuck in traffic yeah. I think that's about all I can say is have a great weekend. Thank you thank you so much for joining autosport. We are now going to go to you a prerecorded piece to talk to US greensmith about the difference between an awesome car and the world will be back shortly after that Gus. Welcome thank you. This is not the new five now. It's been around for a couple of months. They are five fiercer are five month to. It's a car that you had it. Tell us the huge involvement you have with this car. Yeah I think that was one of the most positive size of my fob interested with so much of the car and basically DESCR did pretty much all of the the rough gravel work and then quite a lot of time account so yeah I did a good took the development and I'm glad to say as soon as I got in the car on rough gravel we want so. I think I did a decent job in outplay that respect to the some of the things that we need to work. We've done some more tests recent fairly allie obvious to me what needs to be done in a team so too so as soon as we get everything should be good okay well. Let's let's let's take a look. I mean the idea tonight is to compare the five car here with the World Rally car. Which of course you drove three times this year sensational world rally car debut in Portugal and then Finland and Germany but starting from the front of the five carts told me the engines a good place to start. How does the engine differ in this. You'll drive for no one that you'd really liked driving on the the the restricts is that we have a very the big restrict so we have three hundred eighty brake horsepower in the in the and I think it's three two hundred nineteen in this so considerably less performance but then Felino if from the work that was done in house and also forms we actually have more talk in the Debiasi to call them we do in the WAC so in this were producing four hundred and seventy-five new two meters talk which for a one point six hundred engines engines fell incredible so it's a very easy 'cause you feel as well having coming out. Some of the more punch out of the happened the new the off basis is basically the power of the engine determining power of the engine and you feel it coming out of slow corners especially when you're just maybe has gone into. Maybe a little too hot. You just kind of falling out of like the kind of the power band talks. Keep it going so he's a more drivable calf especially. If you make a mistake it's more forgiving and then also it's much great so far to customers you. WanNa enjoy the car learning allows you to make a few more mistakes sound but still keep performance and then once you really can get it just the time to seep so every ten and pretend to ten pair in them and then you think not much by the stage you can amount to ten seconds sometimes yeah. That's a massive difference. Okay so moving back. We there's a wheel off handily here. we looking at suspension for mine standing. This is one of the major areas that the fact does differ from the World Cup yeah obviously when there's a all I five caused a restricted on budget so they can only cost a certain unit price is so every thins tailored to that so we can decide where we spend more money than other places but yeah this is one of the areas where there's the biggest difference to WRC car and and uh five th isn't a terrible amount of difference in terms of the ways put together but the components and the the ability to change them in time is short and WBZ Carden as this so yeah. I am I Ryan in thinking I know when I first came out. These are interchangeable from corner to corner the dampers. Yes pretty much so again. That's a huge saving isn't it because on the world car they all spoke doc to a corner yeah. It's it's it's it's like going from a hot fine detail to incredibly precise detail a level of detail just as you would expect as you go to a pinnacle of so into by seeing this area there and now everything is just. I spoke to every single pasta which of this needs to butch and for the people to affordably run through championship which is what this category does but in I mean we'll move to the world current sake but inside can you you obviously when you fire up and get going you can tell a different but seating position everything in there is it's the same between the two cars for me when it was when it was particularly my input in car and not not necessarily massive change because we were already on the same page engineers but for me an important of having a similar to how does feel into is a very special environment to be in and you don't want to sit in something that's you don't want to add excess weight. You want it to feel as if it's something rather special so for me. I'm looking at customs was points view. I was always pushing for this quite hot and for me. I think is the best of any diversity to the moment to see tim position. Brilliant Flap you low center of gravity is lower. and steering wheel is functional for me. It just seems to work Bob so you again. You realize that you go from a spaceship so well. Let's let's go and take a look at that spaceship right now. I think I mean the good place to start really immediately with with the world car is the biggest visual difference. which is the Aero isn't it? I mean it gives you. It just gives you I mean how much more downforce is it quantifiable. Could you tell us yes with the Kaaba kind of limited well. We're not kind if we are limited with down for some. We have a small rear wing which does a little bit you will notice it but it doesn't do a massive amount as soon as you start to drive a car on the limit and you start to use zero it makes a huge difference places like Finland any high-speed rally. You just don't realize exactly how much further you can go how much faster so you can go into these corners and I mean if we if we could take a look. Perhaps it's not ideal. Maybe we'll get into his car actually because the the eighty two some lights on an air so we'll be able to to show a little bit easier but just have a look at the rear wing and if you could just talk us through some of the intricacies intricacies because it's not just it's not just an ironing board or surfboard on the back here is it does a lot of detail in it. No and it's very expensive piece is full carbon five and obviously it has regulations that it has to fit to the top of the spoiler can't exceed the top of the top of the roof of the cost of the height is limited so everyone at Ford performance. I is basically designed to create the maximum downforce in working with the US on and also the the the the the front aero pieces as well as the parts along the side of the cost so all works in tangents create the best amount the greatest amount downforce account without having to strike but a lot of this. I I mean areas here. These were looking at the front wing head. There's a huge kind of this is for the podcast. Obviously you can't see what we're talking about but as was a huge hole in the back of what would be an excellent extended wheelock. That's hotter out your low pressure. Just debase the force the era of the flat. We don't want stagnant turbulent. Gulen everyone to Outremont it moving along the car we want to in producing the downfalls so it's a very simple book of way to solve that and it and it sends it out straight onto these the threes these flaps sorry flaps and Finns. I forget an infant to yeah so I mean that's the Ero and I think we've covered the engine could be. Can we get a quick. Look inside that we opened the door. I don't think they can find me for opening a door so you immediately concede as a lot more buttons on the wheel in Space Ship Business Yeah. That's the seats imposition feels fairly similar what you have around. You feel fairly similar. Maybe feels a bit smaller bit. Tighter book at the end of the day is just far more advanced on so you have more more components to work with more buttons more pragmatist layered and that's when you realize you're stepping into adobe cough and then obviously you clicked the stop stealing. You know that you are in a drop. Clutch exactly absolutely confirms it well. That's that's super gusts. Thank you very much for telling us now just before we leave you a quick prediction fiction for what can we expect from you. this this week. Well obviously coming off the win in Turkey arena. We're in a good position. I'd like not to do win. The way that I did in Turkey for that can be the only aim obviously fastest. They just got the we struggled slightly more for the moment until we can get the the upgrades. Thankfully the rain's coming down stays Credit Manipuri so I think that should play in two months so I feel that we can have readers from whatever is your cell phone bill out of control than this is your wake-up call. The new track phone wireless gives you unlimited talk and text starting at twenty dollars a month no contract contract plus unlimited carryover data with active service. Yup The new track phone wireless now your in control see terms and conditions at track dot com so they will we found found out all about the differences between five car and the car welcome back obviously to also sports preview to wells. Gb Live from 'em sports beautiful also polk. It's still good weather in the last hour. The weather hasn't changed but I have been joined by team principal Richard Milner Richard whether is a good place to start your always really not not Komo weather. Yes what do we expect typical. Welsh I think and sunshine thirty five degrees and sunshine now it's been fairly fairly wet. Iraqi a lot of rain and that maybe doesn't affect the gravel stages so much because of the ways but it certainly will make things a bit tricky especially on stages that are a bit more muddy and less kind of stony based but it looks. It's like the some Hurricane Lorenzo or something is is on its way here or the remnants of it and that will always welcome here though isn't it in person you mean spirited no. I think that it looks it looks really mixed. I think not necessarily going to be full on rate. I'm sorry take a bit of Baruch and going on from the soul over here. They need to leave the building agree with a ten year old. It's not difficult it's not I think the weather will be it will be one of those situations where you'll probably court and a heavy shower or you could be okay so that's just another thing to add into the mix but it's not quite the same as on tarmac but like we saw in Turkey. A real heavy shower can really affect your stage if you're caught in the wrong place but as well as the rain you know we've got tons on Saturday night last time that was in two three years ago. We saw a real big changes in terms of the folk coming down it goes. I think there's maybe that higher but it's very high folks a huge issue. There isn't it comes down yeah wants to do we ready can through to Campbell Elvin wish to go go. Oh yeah good point no. I think another challenge in GDP. We don't get many were nice stages anymore. True nights days default can really show who's WHO's up for the the fight in whose son is going to be a critical point in the championship for the three guys pushing him for the for the overall victory and for you know there's a handful of people that could win here. I think rallies and you you can kind of guess or not guess but you can have a strong feeling on who might do well but where it was always where it's really difficult to tell is. Alvin amongst those yeah of course I'm not even being biased. He's got former. He's he's won the event before in tricky conditions that year he wanted there was a nice stage that was incredibly foggy in came out and that was where we will worry thinking. You're going to drop all the time he's done a little hard to get this lead and he came out there and said it was one of the most difficult stages of his life to drive but it paid off but you have to take huge risks to be able to. Do you know this weather in this. This time of the year is going to be big challenge for for everyone. It is so much of this event is about conference. Isn't it an understanding the grip reading reading the road knowing and being able to commit to to what you can see because it changes from corner to corner so so dramatically in terms of of what you've got under the car but Alvin as got that you know and that's one of the things I've seen this year is okay. He's been out for the last three rallies but he's a different guy. Now you know he's got the experience and he's he's backed himself. Wasn't he really sold I in seventeen when he wouldn't I w round and now the self belief that an I agree it's very difficult for any driver to go wait for three rallies and comeback but on your home round where you've got that extra belief system was a real shame trail because he was a point where he was coming up to every rally and we were all thinking you know we can actually get podium necessarily saying we're GONNA win everything but we can get to me. We're in the fight for a good result in an interesting strong rally and then where this disappointment where he's at the missed three rallies and now you come back you get back into mind frame right. We need to be one hundred percent focused on this because we can do oh here and you know like you said in the conditions here pretty bespoke to this rally but at the same time izzy right ready to go we could increase annoyance million. We let him go and we can do. The actual departure live on alternate sports. Should we do that. I way Dr going out on your own guys. Are Are you going on your own. Do you know where you're going. Hey I you know I asked him. I asked Alvin earlier. What do you need. What's best. There is a perfect answer. I said what do you need to setup. You liked what he said darkness and he's just bang on July and he certainly wasn't the reason needs to be a mechanic is because so he insane now and just shout and what do you want to cause. He ain't going to get out. Well actually well. He's well waiting for him to go talk through rich waltz he actually. GonNa do what can it. How do you justina where's the adjustment in here so they can go pitch down yep. It's the main adjustment to be honest and they will be you can make some noise now but he'll be basically really wing uh so that's actually quite a tricky place to get out. Isn't it at the wrong by trying to know Jerry tone. I I won't be the pressure. That drive is good at taking instruction ought clearly so you mentioned earlier. the the championship three drivers. Tannock seventeen points ahead of Sebastian on J. WHO's thirteen points Terry novell where does reach maleness money Eh Australia who's going to win a tear. He's more than capable of winning a championship and but I think he has probably the hardest job left in the position now. This is not the most straightforward award. He's isn't the most straightforward because I said this is. Well you know in hindsight made it clear that they need to win the manufacturer to address it in some ways after different outlook. Maybe for the team team but for teary as just flat knacker is nothing to lose nothing to lose but you have to in fact if you didn't get a manufacturer point so an pressure should I of see that's been made Clay Andrea. They need to do well this so that's hard for him. That's another added challenge for him said. You should never underestimate said we've seen it before you know before Turkey. It looked like he was down now. In some ways he's bounced back with a win. Hold this whole thel hole this hole championship. Just something that's almost more interesting championship. Tell me about Oh gee I told you last week and we talked. GB and he said Saturday morning it was probably before tena had gone out but he said suddenly he realized he had to do. He had to push like how. What was it like because I was he was he was in your team. Was it like at that moment when he said this is. We've just got to go. You know what you WanNa hear because you know you drive up front and ready to go in and his instant thing thinking and saying something like that the whole not right right come on what is it now. We need to concentrate. We need to do this and you know he's somebody who can say that and you know he can back up what he's saying so I think when you have support kind of words that from a world champion you you do what you need to do and I think that's why you should never underestimate him because if he's focused in what he wants to do he can certainly do what he needs to do and and we shouldn't take him out in the championship battle. You shouldn't and I remember Sunday morning. There was a there was a real it was almost electric shook into place when we could see what he could do and you know going into that final day. Last year there were four drivers ten seconds or something and it was a huge fight right but then the one thing I keep going back to watch him. What you want is the last stage which of the past age and then great all aw Celestino Jay Gray all testicle. Actually I came here to do some media stuff on the way so I was listening to on the Radio Nick. There's no like watching what I was doing into Cox bonkers because I was like getting closer and closer and then I think Gary came through I yup and instead came through that through afterwards and they were like four point two seconds quicker. Whatever maybe the great. Let's do that in the cardiac. It come on we can do this. We can do this second runner this morning. Two point four seconds different stages to you know when you have someone that can do that fantastic so I mean that final run was just the across the cavs there was nothing left in in Iran round the gray the other night 'cause I should've could've come with you. Slay down and I just when you know how fast they've gone with the risk taken dates amazing to anything you know when you go and see a stage in in real life compared to on the telly. You realize quayle might they are and how how precise they are an asset. This I think is driving style thing in the last ten years. It's become a lot neater and a lot more different to how it used to be with with people throwing the cars ause around when you actually understand how precise they can be speed hold as this incredible yeah it is right. I think we're almost done. Is there any sign of Mr Malcolm Wilson as he landed. He was stuck in traffic. It doesn't like it doesn't how angry or he's quite happy because these miss this whole this whole. Shindig never stuck in traffic. Maybe he's in Burger King Binary Burger King on the guy is he really. Let's be honest. let let's finish with your prediction rally and championship who and who radio. I think tonic is going to be difficult difficult to be a now. I think regardless of radiation or whatever people may say you've seen under pressure this year he can just put times and if he needs to the are incredible nothing it has a trouble free run and he's got a real good. John's but I also think both of our remain costs have equally could at least be on the podium championship. I think thank you have to look at the where we are and tonic is probably the has the easiest job in terms of being consistent scoring points for the last three rallies like I said don't underestimate Sebastian now quite but I mean you've worked tonic for a few years. And how much would it mean to him. We saw him we will we shot movie. Didn't we AH TIME magazine to get insight into what this whole thing means to him. Last year was amazing and you know him very well. What would it mean. I think you mean everything. Take it every he's he's grown up and he's been through the serious up some serious down and safe and I think he will like anybody. WHO's driving wants to become a world challenge but I think he's changed. His person. In the last couple of years since she's left does still very very different. I you know I think direction of his career and if he wins one championship. Dow Ale couldn't win volume absolutely ability well. I think it's probably a good time will now running out of cost to even look at in the service box. "And welcome to shift up one a podcast about speedy the major concern right now seems to be his right leg and according to the both of you can see from my Webcam today my feet is sponsored by Home Depot and the cardboard boxes that litter my office at the moment so yeah I'm feeling better now ready to talk about this race if it happens seriously we'll get to that but if you are new to this podcast last time we check in on this as you might imagine had some very serious injuries himself and complications from the injuries after that accident let's get into it all right rob you've been corralling our giant list of articles into something speak -able onto a podcast what should we start with nobody is this yours primer is episode fifty nine so if you want to listen to that go back to episode fifty nine also this show is supported entirely by our audience on Patriot dot com slash autosport they were contemplating amputating the leg Korea for many reasons I'm sure for WHO's involved in that incident won while Korea is just had a seventeen hour surgery and from reading about it on autosport it sounds like I figure we got twenty men in ten team colors so it almost works I'm drew scanlon joining me Danny Dwyer how're you Danny I'm goods I'm sitting shift F one every month we release at least one bonus podcast Mona's video exclusively for patrons covering racing documentaries and films on video games primers for other racing series welcome if you're new to Formula One itself we recommend listening to our preseason primer episode which assumes note assumes no prior knowledge and gives the lowdown on how the sport works and whoever extremely long and complicated so Korea is in the middle of a really tough recovery following islander says days of thunder and I'm very excited about that yes I it's been a it'll be fun to to take a look at the fictional side of there's some good stuff on that on that list that you have any we look forward to it all right so we've got Japan coming up but first let's do the news when you guys say yeah a really brutal and heartbreaking accident and all the best to him as as we've seen comebacks from things like this are loo looking at Danny I'm like Oh my God was moving for five years but then of course I e Bay the baby sickness is also is a real having that my computer which is connected to the Internet I'm looking at Rob's Acne Andrew Scanlon on my monitor it's just like a whole tie Clinton California in Oakland California and memories of Zanardi and stuff fry where there are plenty of drivers who have who have had catastrophic physical damage from crashes a lot of weird things so if you'd like to support the show and get access to all that fun stuff head over to Patriot com slash shift or click the link in the show notes I just put a note on my yeah pretty much all moved in I feel like wants to Internet set up your moved in also joining us Rob Rob not bad glad I didn't have to move that's Olympic medalist cycling champ does seem to indicate that the man was just an absurd even even even the loss of a limb isn't necessarily a deal breaker when it comes to making a comeback as a driver as relieved seems like a cruel word to use but we didn't really know how body was especially when he was not induced coma and then you have those horrible the accident and among the comments he made did say that I understand my future regarding the covering my legs specifically my right leg is still quite uncertain and the my physical Rehab like wanted to avoid that if possible so they want to this fairly involve surgery to try and see if they can both allow him you as a driver but right now just you know all best wishes and hopes for his recovery yeah I was somewhat sort of it's sort of caught my eye there is a track not far from Saint Petersburg Cora drive designed by the civil but they are also rare for a reason and it will be it will be tough to to achieve what what I'm sure he wants to atwater sports also I have been setting up my game capture stuff today so I'm hoping to get some of the the backlog of game history this week and another one next week France racing fans have have seen and I'd also an Olympic medalist yeah the Alexander it's on like a sort of emission quest from my backup my throat up to my nose and it's currently sort of in my head I'm a little bit coffee but I couldn't really speak the past few days recovery pitting two slightly happier news at least for me so cheese days might be numbered on the list very similar to that so yeah horrible news to hear but also glad that it's not worse and Zanardi does remind us that a karting track in a corner of the complex it's very like circuit Paul Ricard Yeah Yeah and so much in his whole his goal with the physical therapy was to be able to dance at his wedding and then there's a video of him doing that it's just the most tilk firm Elma gods and it is it was designed from the ground up to be F. One compatible doing the thing that they feel like they were put on this earth to do you know Y- wiggins right he actually just got married recently trek rules so the thing I did notice I think it was in the story that race fans Ktar warming thing he just seems like an amazing guy all around as well so yeah good luck well and glad to hear the to retain the lead the leg and also allowed to return to full function and He released a statement actually I think his first one of these release since the so I am I am all for any solution here that gets us to real life one facility purpose bill facility away from it so at the I don't know how you guys manage that because like I find I found this so she kinda excruciating after retirement it up apparently I have this right there is sort of a ready made extension for the track that they can put on capacitor undermines the competitor and the correct me if I'm wrong but having isn't what's the what's the British driver's name Billy Munger yes keeps follow them on twitter at I keep seeing them like azure races and out awards God that the talking about the physical Rehab acquired for something like this but like the hit up at the same time as a move pretty rough yeah it's I'm Glob at mcchord as yesterday or the day before because I have what sicknesses that is slowly sort of the and in a couple of years time that will rue the day I was pushing for F- wanted to go to a gory drive but for the moment Alex no football games yeah just make the tires are inch then then we can just officially have one race motorsport network made announcement that they were going digital I and I think us us here games we've seen be the second shortest track if they made it enough one course it would be about some bigger than Monaco Yeah exactly and it looks paid it hasn't he started racking up pretty credible racing performances of late November I think he won a Euro formula. Certainly but here's the thing I was looking at the aerial photo of and I was tracing a lap around it and I was like nothing was tiny is how that's not a real race track and sure enough it yeah I think I think it would probably be fine it's funny I don't know what this news means y'all have y'all figure this out he's right I think that he wendy young sports personality of the year or something as well I think which is a big thing in the UK bbc sort of show that you are here like autosport the printed ition is pretty much doomed they think this is going to be end of the line for that magazine but they did say serving the quick serious update something proceeding from that horrific accident in Spa Clinton life of Antoine who bear the other you know this has been the case in print for fifteen years at this stage like anyone who falls under a certain amount of whatever it's called if they decide to go that direction so it's it's final layout might be slightly more F. One shaped but yeah so it could APP before it generally doesn't bode well for anyone whose primary business is putting out a magazine and print and relying on print Ad Revenue Oh and listen I admire the work y'all did last week talking about and I thought it was interesting show God revved dropping and circulation the way people connect to like especially in sports because it's such a fast paced news cycle the same way games is aren't gone into the Gora Dr it sounds it sounds like a dark souls area or something article also points out that it's much further north and so it's near to Finland so weatherwise would have to change it then because so dirty reason you could do it in Sochi is the magazine the United States but even that they have to organizationally within their editorial team have to set up differently to work and saying those were the days but they do good work we subscribe with with your Patriot money oh but nevertheless they're going to digital first option and then the weird thing I noticed is people online we're talking about that it sounds not a mainstay over here in the US certainly the way that it is in Europe it seems to be judging by you know people like will Buxton tweeden about it a year where like the odds of someone beating Offen- with the rally experience is right and I guess Saint Petersburg is pretty far set so it's game informer maybe in the video game space that we're used to that was you know a very dot has one of the highest circulations in the world in terms of magazines I think it's the third a an article that for their plus subscribers about like what happens during the practice sessions that I thought was fascinating so they're doubling the price of it for their content they're going to continue making it what do you guys make of all this at the to me this is just like another he is I would like it was it was touching go I think from the sounds of it for a while there when he was in that car so sees out of it then on the road in a day today rather than a monthly so I can imagine this just being part of a look strategically we need to focus on you know notch away with charging people a little bit more like I like to in extent you're dealing with a really self selecting audience right there like both the reason my parents still subscribed to the magazine because I wasn't that surprised yeah I'm with you it's a shame to see it go I guess it's not it's not like you're you're no longer targeting the person who's picking up a issue of autosport at a new stand somewhere in history begins in Australia March fifteenth and concludes in Abu Dhabi on November twenty ninth Max verstappen was saying this is going to there's a lot more divorces than usual oh my God I am not betting against that because that seems brutal to new race tracks the one calendar which has been officially signed off by the FAA twenty two races Oh boy next year the biggest list here if you're pointing your browser over autosport or or getting it delivered in the mail chances are it's because you have the same brain worms I would be if somebody said like hey rub that was the last that was the last race you're gonNA wash approaching I'd have been like damn right good it's like because even now like Moscow has got like a gets nippy and can get quite snow laden I think around this time of year nothing wrong with that there plus subscription and they didn't really good work and it's well worth it yeah they actually supported posted sorry in Spain have been removed from the twenty twenty schedule placing great emphasis on testing parts in for Friday free practice sessions so we didn't really one media world that is the flip side of this is I saw price they're charging for the print edition and sort of sitting there being like man if you're talk about it too much this year if at all really but there is a a preseason tests wherever one test their new cars in Barcelona Catalunia for them are fading and trust some of them are just came Easter saying it's kind of boring like her kind of saying hey let's may only I five years so maybe it'll be till I realize that the other track is different track yes yes uh from minute there I was like Oh hell yeah that looks fantastic and then I realized I was looking at the I I can link that in the show notes again it's required thing but you know just just diving in a little deeper than you know the rest of the now as well everything has just gotten away like it's really difficult for for any atlas that's that's focused on print and I also get it that like you look at something like go the way the Dodo soon enough yeah it sucks but it's yeah I'm somebody who uses their website and does not the circulation or whatever it just becomes like a new surrender your neck it it just weighs down it you bleed out of a basically yeah live cable is so that they can watch one like straight up like they would not have cable anymore if not for that and so I think that's kind of the mindset you're you're dealing with here is that we do I suppose and and we're GONNA get affects aren't we drill we are with the twenty twenty four and then there are these couple handful of in-season tests that take place but no longer they will have the beginning the preseason test and that is it size free practice sessions of course I for one I'm looking forward to take your leave it that's all right and then second to Catalonia afterwards I think like the first you know stint we're going to have next year is going to be Kinda Rach like seeing what these new races are like the Vietnam track looks weird and the Dutch GP is just going to be the Max for staff and show so that'll be fun drivers right like Ed the funny thing about watching any of the driver interviews before so she is that whenever that inevitable question comes up at every single race course what do you think it has tracked about how off so look forward to right away and it's all sandwich tim like I think Australia and Bahrain have always been strong fun tracks China I don't know basis but he the point he was making was like it's fine for it's fine for drivers but you know he said the add to the schedule of Vietnam which will happen on April fifth and the Dutch GP on May third both subject to their circuits being fully already like a really dedicated fan of autosport and like in the stuff that is on sport plus you could probably get tailgated according to outer dot Com and interestingly as formula dot COM points out the two in season tests which this year took place in Bahrain mechanics and crew arrived Monday or Tuesday to build everything while the big bosses arrive on Saturday or maybe even the Saturday morning and fly even during the race back home it's like the it's the Yang to Herman Tillich as Ying I will say in response to all this and when you laid out that way That is a grueling schedule if you're one of those if you're in that class of like first to arrive last to leave turn one section what I'm most excited about is both of these races are super early it's raised three and five that's that's GonNa be a lot of fun mechanics that becomes that does become a pretty major obstacle to living a normal life Steve Macha I think when he wrote the The verstappen quote was was interesting I thought he did make the comment that clean interesting comment and it was probably one of the one of the few times I can think of a driver doing more than just sort of paying lip service circus like why was he pretty ready to hang it up fairly young age part of it was because you know when when he crashes on the opening lap like he's done a couple of times this year and we hear that oh it'll be the entire race track offer them the bosses it's not a problem they can easily do thirty races because they're only away for three days for most of the people at least five or six days and thought it was they are not the ones who really are where the rubber meets the road on those decisions right they're not the they're not the point that bears friction in in these decisions like how hard the team works and how what a great job the crew is like him started pointing out that the people in these meetings deciding yeah how let's extend the season let's do a bunch more races schedule's pretty a pretty huge obstacle for people in that category yeah and I feel like like I wonder if at least with the exception of the mid season break and then a few months of vacationing between seasons even twenty years ago twenty five years ago the F ones about the print Mike so so much and having not just be like you know another part of a business but not the focus or is it science remember talk about a debate going to shudder at our it'll it'll probably made a circle like a like a row bosh made a circuit out of the negative space created by other circuits like it's kind of like yeah it's like like after you've written a few books but the one re talks about his experiences in the pits I think he sort of made the comment that it's almost like your life is on hold while while you're yeah just like every other race and you know Central Europe this this time you won't even see the race because those clouds orange smoke between the cameras and the race yeah I will say I think I think was the Perez who made the comment Yeah Perez Oh gosh what a what does he say he said for most people wants at least five or six days and then I'm not even complaining about us but it's the mechanics they can file for a divorce straight away if there's going to be more rate right before Canada but like Azerbaijan is like it's like a it's as far as the Russian stuff probably right it's like a long European flight rather than a true trans content drivers the only ones have been on Zandvoort no wile I wonder if Max has been on US Ida road car then yeah or Carson Carson you know some lower SPEC thing spot it was China then Baku so Vietnam is basically like God in China and Baku has been dropped down into the sort of the European Malange title flight if for for most of the teams that are based in central European and indeed the UK So I wonder if at least having China and Vietnam which are registered before at a certain point you just need you just have people saying no I'm going to do half that number races they'll turn it of I B even pointed out that if if they keep going this direction there might be a point where you need to have to cruise which I think is interesting that's where there's nothing stopping teams Singapore Russia Japan America like it's it's a bit all over this place I don't like having Singapore close to sponsor for Williams wanted to know why it was pulled in and stopped so early because if you were called George Russell's car doing that right now except it was awfully and so I think that's going to be the that's going to be the sticking point is how much can you put on the cruise curious if you shrunk an f. one crew that could be interesting to buy her car Jiang exists yeah it should be fun the the Vietnam one looks Vietnam one looks like somebody just garbage led to the right front wheel not sitting perfectly this caused a lockup under breaking and then he explains that unfortunately we were forced to retire a specially with tracks at no one's driven out because it's always interesting when we we go to a track that maybe people of Adana was the last time we were its onboard actually is there anyone is key who knows now xtop knows he's not married so he doesn't care when it comes to long seasons though probably not Canada and then back to France Austria Britain yeah stuff I feel like if you're getting into this line of work you kind of know what you're setting yourself up for maybe Sochi and why go wrong so fast yeah specifically I think it was yeah you have it here Orlan the Polish me driven or another discipline even or like this F- food never I wonder if anyone thinks road car roberts car due to the amount of accident damage we have sustained in the Singapore Russia back to back races in order to preserve protect ourselves going into the next are no replacement parts so I mean you're right rob it's it's it's kind of a you know what happened at the beginning of the season Williams didn't have a car ready for preseason during close to China because the longer trips as well I'm sure are probably the most irritating part of this so it was Khuda used to be in testing it's grim you know the the rich energy stuff aside it's unusual that you find a sponsor basically invents the team has worked extremely hard to ensure race quantities have improved ahead of Japan and the final races so I initially thought that they why is my logo not out there running full race distances wire our cars being pulled in and he backed this place of well often turn and nosed into a barrier we didn't really know why I think Paul depressed at the time attributed to a suspension problem maybe what happened except that for a different reason than safety they wanted to bring Robert in so he didn't break anything else on the car because that a longer season than Williams dirty you see some of this that there are some people carry us about what happened to Williams he's cars that by the way is Japanese four ten men ten colors Oh nice which is an idiom for different strokes for different folks hold incubates for for safety reasons like if this happened on George Russell's car it might also happen on cubits car and that is kind of got in there you know in in the grand scheme of things might be helpful in some way Bush European like looks weird now Spain Monaco Azerbaijan they have now confirmation from Williams that see this is the senior race engineer Dave Robson from autosport dot com we have found an issue with the wheel nut retainer asking like the hell's going on over there team and maybe this is also stemming from just how disappointing and frustrating Kubis Return has been for for Domin China and Japan like having that be like the sort of you know Asian wing of it and maybe Melbourne in there as well maybe that would help but I don't know wing it really feels like we knew this you know we we've known this for a while this year was a write off for Williams but now he seemed to have hit the part of the year Oh really dispiriting place to be but maybe some light is shed on it by the fact that they apparently testing experimental front wing this week in Japan for some of his supporters but also I can understand where it's at a point where some of these sponsors might be asking like hey why there there is no further investment coming in this year of the of the car it is now you know can we finished the season and what testing can get done for me basically on a shoestring again at this point we can't if we break some if we break this part a couple more times we won't be able to complete the next Grand Prix that's we need that number of people worldwide now I wonder if there is a way of because even now it's messy right we've got the the end of the season is still weird lump of mental strike of some of these people just staggering we talk about vix so you know what I mean like just like anyone who's hot like that sort of damage that stops so Renault by the way but the difference is Renault is trying to get a wing design in place for the seasons they can rack up some places this year Williams next yeah I also found a an interesting thing on reddit showing Kabila's steering basically saying hey we want to try this wing concept out for next year and so between the lack of parts and them may be rolling out a new one put limits on the amount of people yeah it's all the stuff that you're kind of like that's how the people right yeah the pit crews are so huge because wheel and it it's cool because it has most of the buttons on the left side of the wheel because his right arm Russell does not have you know he doesn't have full use of it so I will link a picture of that in the show that's that's fascinating somebody emailed a quote sorry we got loads emails you know you can customize everything and that is an advantage that you can get over over your rivals but one of the issues and this was covered pretty well level like he kind of had to fight his way back in but he wasn't driving up one and I do wonder like how much of the everyone falls off when they're aging but a proposal that's getting traction really fast is open sourcing some part design and a lot of team seem way more reception like how much is that kind of intensified when you're not doing it week to week right when you're not when when you're living the life of enough one driver L. do they didn't get to him yeah I think he's been using like a you know a George Russell style buttons everywhere and George Mostly about he is considerably older than he was and unlike a lot of guys who like stay in f one the entire time throughout their aging process and are competing highly a poor motor functions in one of their hands is having it so that you can do most of the buttons on one side of the controller which is basically what they did is with his wheel or one of the things they've done has all this conversation about keeping costs down cost controls and one of the solutions put forward is let's do more standardized parts and a lot of teams hate that available to commit until Monza think maybe similar supply chain problems but yeah it took them that long to to lift or so last last thing though the the comment I was so is the trying to hash out the twenty twenty one regulations with his way and it's really cool I also do just wonder like whether his performance has that much to do at all with the actual injury or whether it is lawyers for people who have you know physical aren't sort of like are able to use standardized controllers as we know them at large part of it is like for folks who have like maybe Robert Whatever be able to come back because of his hand and it was it was interesting because I've just come back from we're filming a little doc on Able Gamers who are the folks who make bespoke controlled the real oh my God monceau late in the season I know Robert F one cars have gotten more buttons we're going to ask you to learn how to use it and we're going to ask you to learn how to up to this and it's interesting too like I always figured it was a way purely for Richard teams to maintain their competitive advantage that you can just and so that's one of the major objections designers and engineers seemed to them but an open source solution what interests for so long last thing that just sort of caught my eye at least was one more thing I want to point out that this gets worth mentioning this wheel was not wchs there's different tolerances and so you end up with the standard part being its interaction with your custom components it can be kind of a failure autosport article is that a lot of engineers don't have like it is tricky or to get a standard author component to play exactly nicely with your bespoke components in the way you want have faith in that right 'cause like there there's different spots hey cap drives us alive man and hopefully they spent a little bit of time or whether again that's that's really frustrating oh customize it but you don't have to do all the rnd to create these basic components you can just take something that works off the rack and then build your teams version is that you have a bunch of like F. One get hub type designs just out there that people can look at and then you can is that again like a racist time we will you ask for we couldn't we not ready Q. Q.'s drive this bad boy one regulations to push some of those teams into uncomfortable territory and I just I worry that half steps will just event won't make wresting proposal and I never wouldn't in a million years would think that that would be something f. one of all places would get until but it looks to be one of the on the dot size so so yeah he got this win at Monza and also you can see in the picture that the right side is also taped up with like some groupie tape so okay a lot like like I think there are people McLaren Ferrari Mercedes all sort of cautiously optimistic about this idea Wales singing the Welsh national anthem like they all learned before I know it's just incredible Japanese fans are fantastic at the world did you ever seen that seen in planes trains and automobiles John Candy trying to drive the drove the car with its arms tied to see it's not like the design has secret sauce it's more just you know the the secret sauce the components it's hooked up to so I thought that was an interesting in love systematic change that a lot of people are asking for but it's yeah it's interesting I'm wondering at what stage because this is all presumably of the years well a lot of things trump is famous for it is the only figure eight track in F one one of the main what do this stuff midseason so is there like a window they'd have before the start of the season for the star like its the execution the things that comes up every year we talk about it is the fans are great they love Kimi Raikkonen they love I feel like every fan is represented Japanese fans are very good it's a lot of old sort of vintage you know like the Senate documentaries or something like that it will often come up as Suzuka sporting a sort of a wide array of folks the the Rugby World Cup is currently going on in Japan and they're great videos of the towns that were like hosting Hugh proposals for controlling costs and standardizing components that's gotten any sort of like warm reception yeah it's weird I feel like I would be happy for these this year what of the drivers favorite tracks of the Air I'm perhaps have maybe the most enthusiastic fans of any track I'd say could be a little bit messy especially if teams like yeah we'll tell you do this and then nothing is actually usable until like a week before the season starts well speaking make up to f one standards one of the things that happened was the DNA turns that we enjoy now which turns right before the the of it and there's a lot that teams wouldn't necessarily feel too antsy about putting up in that that open source community because it's not really it hasn't three uneven spouse valentine eleven during those runaway red bull years am it's got bunches of interesting turns it's it's a sort of a the things that may not be usable Danny let's get to the Suzuka track fantastic yes we're going to Japan one of our favorite tracks there was in South Korea and Japan number years ago was another wonderful one and we get to enjoy every single year in the wonderful global circus that his formative what the opening of this track is always very interesting because the first turn is basically taken flat but they're all trying to find ah endings of seasons as well with crashes and many of those cases between the Drivers Damon Hill Ninety four make a hack into ninety eight ninety nine Schumi in two thousand ah MC team you actually read that crash on the original one turn Gubbay badly burned and at breaking spot for the next part which is it's like it's taken at heavy speed the second turn and it's almost like a double apex as well and last year we at this track also used to be I guess he keeps stuffing new races and it's a it's gotten further from the end of the season over the years you know it's a lot of unique turns this one it's kind of designed I feel almost with bikes perhaps maybe in mind and it was used as Um with all the subsequent times two of them have collided over the years over the past year or so yeah one thirty are which was which isn't really one preseason stuff so at what stage these designs would become open for other teams to replicate them like how much time would they have presumably it used to be the ultimate undo final race I believe in years past and as such it's crammed eleven world champions if you go back I was like of course we've talked about one thirty are a spoon curve which is this crazy it's kind of like the opening turn in China or something radio or any more apparently it's either I think it's eighty five or on then maybe a hundred and forty or something it's like it's because it was named it's it's named on Sebastian vital tried to pass Max for stamping on the inside and spun himself last year he did and he just in case you forgot bike track for a long time before f. one kind of got got the keys Fuji was was often used for a row cars and then Suzuka Kinda got respect in the nineteen eighties very wide curb to curb corner where drivers touch both cardiac side on inside curb during sort of course of a messy so spoon is really important because basically you're trying to retain as much as possible on thirteen and fourteen because you're hitting this massive straight and then heading thirty or got these things go back over there but yeah it's a I think in terms of like actual places for people to keep an eye on stuff as a decent amount of people there and some of the best bands in Motorsport and some of the best funds the sport Ghana's fantastic we've got the retire and the differences are coming in the mediums the most common is one hard three mediums and nine sauce you one C two and c three tyre compounds going into the weekend soft everyone most everyone is just taking one and soft so few different strategies although the all those might go out the window because we might not be racing on slicks everybody is a couple of trucks that have ferris wheels are little things around them apparently there is a place called Mo Topa there's like a little amusement park all things are fine when they hit the SS after and then head up to the Jaguars spoon is basically the sort of the the most important in terms of overtaking on this I'm just going to point out here is from weather dot com on a practice day Friday we've got winds out of the North Northeast at fourteen kilometers per hour then it picks up a little bit on Saturday to eighty kilometers per hour because there is a typhoon currently heading directly for the circuit Typhoon Haggi huggies how'd you go-carts stuff and things like that for the kids and then the fans packed the stadium pretty much all weekend long it's just outside of Japan Serbia city so and it was named after a German motorcycle radical earn stagner who suspense the pride of his career writing for East Germany's state owned uh-huh or super formula team worth mentioning the typhoons are this is a relatively common issue with the Japanese grumpy asked the circuit was during a wet race because of another typhoon so perhaps that might play into it maybe maybe the super typhoon which type as someone in the cloth map discord pointed out would be a great name for an arcade game is for them to do that and also the fact that they'd have to manually turn off the irs because you don't necessarily break hitting one thirty or they tend to coast and then turn left so it's kind of go underneath the bridge on the the eight and I looked up what it was about those because I always wanted to know what the story was behind him apparently that used to be one turn and the when they designed the track even though he didn't ride it was it was like you know for I guess the opposite team the Japanese Lila calamity there actually in a lot of years you've got quite a bit of people touching or getting in the wrong side and whatnot so that whole thing is really interesting it's kind of concern here is a race may not or may call the race due to other because of the medical helicopter not being able to fly you're right I forgot that was an issue and twenty it's cool cordray we should go there we should driver standings Lewis Hamilton on top three hundred twenty two points South Botas and second with two forty nine chuck lack Reseda is taking four mediums on the eight soft but it looks like the Renos and the Haas's two mediums and ten in those so royal chopping such as Nelson. PK Eighty seven Sata in eighty eight thousand nine hundred ninety one on eighty nine those being very famous Like you said drew before we recorded we now have virtual safety car as a result of that we also have the halo as a result of that so you know maybe go to kind of like Abu Dhabi you can go to Friday world or am I guess so she's got loads that sorta stuff right as well yeah Mo Topi it's got lots of eighteen is all wasn't it yeah I think so that was why they called it off early Japan anything else on Japan you guys because it was a this was a factor in what happened in two thousand fourteen where we sadly law well I guess we lost Jobs Bianchi in two thousand fifteen but the crash that he had ice than we jumped down a bit to grow John with eight Antonio Giovanni with four Bobby Kay has one and George Russell with zero points construct your six drivers six albums got fifty to jump a little bit down to Norris in ninth with thirty five Danny Rick and Nico Hockberg in tenth place tied with thirty four points another tie Bruce Eighties has five hundred seventy one points we're probably getting pretty close to where they can mathematically take the championship Ferrari as four hundred ain't going downhill into that little the famous chicane where process came came together so that that one thirty or in the sort of the the spoon curb before it has mayo with thirty-five Genus Team have twenty eight points and Williams has who knew what was Alfa America to rename itself again out the Tory forgotten saying that if we change to an Alpha what is it off torry they've got fifty points in any case racing point has fifty two Alpha they did you'll see the office Hari like for their fall lineup of clothes we know only in the last calendar year I don't know if that was the last year I think it was a new thing this year after year right yeah I think another briefly touched on it I would love to get your opinion rub I saw photographs it looks like a hitman level it's kind of how it feels no just it's one thirty are because it's the radius right but the but the UN it's a right handed does that's a radius is not the the right hand that's how we talked about this on a previous year every areas but obviously you have to make anodyne thing possible so the brand is like people of the Sun and it appeared like memories now I don't remember hearing about Alpher Mayo changing their the brand but this may be an indicator that we are already confusing Alpha Tori and male there were a bunch of super super powered affluent hipster types and or late sounds like a foot foot raw however you pronounce or you are a Scottish a snack Harry Brown said it is currently classified as a we're a lot where a lot on the action we're going to see although people have been overtaking all over the place is here so who knows keep your eyes on maximum stopping one they'll note that I didn't really know before the Ferris wheel like actually I think young perhaps would be like what if young frappes were destined to rule over us and people were just trying to keep them down and denies it's it's like the one percents are like revolting against the point zero zero one percent yeah track there's only one theorized straight it's on star finished because the back straight leading up to one thirty are got a little bit of a bump where the bridges where you're going over it again so it's kind of dangerous or eight G wrong place wrong time Roman then in first place from Russia dances with five for from Russia we had a seven way tie that is outrageous starting with team extreme lactose intolerance caustic eat rubber beam auto works Chicanery Teams Twenty Mustache then we've got a tie for second place here Honda we've got champ two thousand eighteen Ao and then we've got ms one of my favorites my heart will grow John that's fantastic Liam's but overall the top five are Saint Joe Visi racing team in fifth place jacked up racing in fourth third-place Dragon Ball Gt and we've got blah to the future part three and number one still on top rich volt F. One energy team paintwork pending Could I ask you a question right and then also the so the the reason why some people are thinking that they might be particularly careful this year Wa
