"I think he's in the top ten for me now. That was a question. I arrived tonight wondering we had a long walk back from the TV bank garden. What are they call it? Whatever his name is. Me and Nate, had a little conversation, is Steph in the top ten now. I think he is. Wow. I have him leapfrogging, I had him behind the following 6 guys that I think he is not leapfrogged. The great Moses Malone. Shaquille O'Neal. Okay. God bless Shaq. Yeah, but the flaw with him was those last four minutes in a close game. It was still an issue, but I mean, I mean, we're talking this is hallowed ground. We're hitting. Yes. This hurts. So chemo Azure. I think you passed them. Because I think that the added thing of how he just changed how basketball was played, and he changed the geometry of the sport itself. I feel like has to factor in a for talking Pantheon. None of these guys changed basketball. They didn't change how we thought about it, considered it the whole thing. And he did it. He's the best expression of how basketball changed. Do you think he changed basketball? I do. I think the league changed. But I think the league changed partly because of the stuff he was doing. He was the first one. He was fucking Neil Armstrong. Okay. Nobody was doing shit like that before people are hitting freeze, but not like this. Well, the league member of Barclay for years talking about you can't win just shooting jump shots and he fucking one shoot he's one four titles now. They went four titles 8 years. 6, 6 visits to the finals in 8 years too. So I got him passing Robertson and west. And then Durant. Because Durant never did this. You can't put Doran had a curry Durant never was decidedly the best part in a team that was built around him. He had the chance of 2016 and he didn't deliver. I have the chance in 2020 in 2000 or 2021 and this year he didn't deliver. I have a serious case where recency bias when it comes to Kevin Durant. I can't unsee.

"Week and a half away from the game's mattering and counting, opening night against the warriors on the 19th. So I think that's going to be important. I think that at this point looking at where they are right now, probably wouldn't hurt to throw them out there on the floor a little bit and try to get that chemistry jump started because right now, those turnovers, a lot of it's coming just because guys aren't used to playing it against each other. The warriors were sloppy too, though. There were parts of this game, especially early on. Some of the ugliest basketball, it looked like a pickup game for a while. It really did. It was that bad. And then the second half got a little better, Ronda really brought a lot of structure to the game, but for a while, especially that first quarter, both sides, man, so sloppy. Moses Malone from Facebook. Great player. Said mellow starting off the bench. I think off the bench, I think you're probably going to see him come off the bench. I think that he's good as an instant offense kind of guy. I don't know. If you're bringing him into the starting lineup, where are you putting him? Are you putting him at the four and AD's the 5? Maybe, maybe they go that route, but you might be asking him depending on the matchup to defend somebody that he can't. More likely that you can get away with having him in the second unit defensively. So that's my concern there. Leroy longs, and Trevor, I think LeBron needs to rethink his game and play the four. He is playing the four. He played the four tonight. That's when he started at was power forward. But LeBron at the four, he's always going to have the ball. He's going to be the initiator on offense, whether we want to call it point guard or whatever. But he was the next biggest guy to start the game.

Those stories and more coming up at five o'clock with Joe Hillen and for Cathy Walker on K away news radio. This is big Alan. Joe Joe, along with Salva will catch some pro football focus. And Brandon Crystal, who is sitting in for the big fella. Has there ever been an M V p in any sports that we can think of that the year after winning MVP didn't want to return to the team that he wanted with. And possibility of of sitting out because he's not getting the trade that he wants. You know, I don't I can't recall, but I certainly can't recall a team trying to get rid of the player first and then the guy Where's the M v P before sitting out, But that's the full context of what we're dealing with yourself. Yeah, a team fired the first salvo right and it out Aaron and we're winning the M V. P And this is you remember right After the topic came, he said, I don't know that I'll be back. That Listen, That's when you know Erin is clever now. Like every time that guy he's saying something, and he's not speaking for nothing. So, no, I mean, I can't ever think of a time where it came. Had a great quarterback. Like this, where they felt like they had to, uh, replacing Before he was done doing what he needed to do as a plate, and then he proved it by winning Andy pick and now there's nothing they can do to get him back. Nothing they can do. Well, it feels like the closest maybe is Joe Montana. Obviously, two good years in Casey, that Steve Young waiting in the wings. No one's pretending that Jordan love is is Steve Young? Certainly not Not yet. I did find so LeBron did it in 2010. When he went from Cleveland in Miami. He was the M V P. And prior to that in the NBA, Wilt Chamberlain and 68 did it and Moses Malone in 82 as reigning MVPs. Changed teams. That's three times in NBA. I don't think it's ever happened in the NFL, but But, Sally, you mentioned the idea of him perhaps sitting out a year and I understand that from the business of it all, Peyton was four society year. Rogers has one m V P. I want to know what he can do. And his agent, David Dunn, who is also the same agent for Jordan. Love can do to force the Packers hand to say, Look, I want to play right now. And if he doesn't show up, then they don't have to do anything. But how do you force their hand? Well, that President was set by Carson Palmer in 2011 when he walked away same year, by the way, same aging anything And they have the same agent. Absolutely tell this. Listen, They've got a plan. The reason why I told you cleaning out does not hurt him. I mean, if it was another position you might say, get a little rusty and, yeah, Peyton Manning set out because he was injured, but he did sit out. I mean, why did you get to sit out and just live your life? You don't have to do it rehabbing. If you play 16 years 14 5 years in college because he was in junior college. Then he went to count in four years. And you know that 16 plus nine. That's 25 straight years of a fall where you had to be there and had to be there in training camp. And somebody said, Hey, why don't you take this year off? And and and recharge your battles. You don't think there was a guy playing golf, one minute hosting jeopardy. The next hit. Aaron is a very smart guy entirely. He's got other interests. Yeah, he could use a year to do something different on that calendar during the fall months and I can tell you he will not be any worse or it. If he end up playing another year from now. If you if you think this is guys don't lose the fastball because he you know, allowing his body the rest. I can tell you. That ain't gonna happen. And so having the president of a guy who? Yeah, he had to sit out because of injury. But who cares? Why yet? Get out. The fact is they sat out a year and then took the team to two Super Bowls in four seats. If you're sitting there in the front office in Green Bay, and you know, obviously what Carson Palmer did with the same agent knowing that he he found a way out and therefore They got nothing for him. Don't you say to yourself? My goodness. When we get to that 11th hour, we have to do something or we're going to get nothing for arguably the most valuable player not just in league, but definitely on our team. They got a first round pick corn. There comes a time you do have to move on this coming time. You have to do it. Listen. Um, I keep hearing your general manager. You don't want to be the guy that trade in Iraq. Well, let me tell you this. Do you remember the guy who traded red mark twice? Traded twice, you know? All the same quarterback. One of the greatest ever the Falcon straightening the greenback. You can't tell me who that guy is here. The guy in Green Bay traded him. His name is Ted Thompson Hall. Same guy, right? But when we just eulogized here, Thompson God blesses so pathway recently. Do you think you're anybody cat in a dispersion? Look at the top because he traded that's that's a mythical hypocrisy for thing, and it's all ego driven. Some guys, I don't want it on my resume. I don't want to be the guy that trade Aaron Rodgers. Listen, He's not playing for you. He walked out on you. Your job is to not worry about your resume. Your job is to worry about how you're going to make the Packers hold..

"Us right through into commercials. Asking my teoma question. That's a question but it was thirty seconds ago. jay. I apologize afterwards. When you hear somebody say patrick mahomes. I get animated. You need to get back in the studio for this traveling two weeks. Yeah cool out there. Temps and all that stuff is people just outside. Walk around like you're sweating. You're sweating through your shirt. How is that comfortable in. The morning is at about one hundred and ten where we at right. Now i think right. Now we're around eighty five eighty five or jd five. Yeah it feels like the all your internal organs are cooking a slow from they tell you but it's but it's a dry heat doesn't matter you know like monica. Here's the point. After games out here in phoenix right after a big game you go outside. What do you see monica. It's supposed to be dark right. Just like thousands of people people milling about how you create. You don't see. Nobody see the heat coming in air of the payment. I'm like damn that's layers. Are you speaking of phoenix. We have another robert in phoenix. Actually so let's stay in phoenix robert. Good morning you're doing all right. So robert i they will. They will welcome to phoenix man. It's a We actually got rain on saturday. So it's actually a hugh heat now so but vouch for Chris paul and cenex. I think when it's all said and done if we're able to get the championship. I say it over and over Booker's are most in earth. Booker's our best player. Chris paul's or most important player. So i think he'd go down to the phoenix personally. Good way to put an end to think about it this way. The way joe holiday described the the box when he said that jaanus is the sole but middleton is the heart Is i mean. Is chris paul the heart and booker the soul. Like would you. How would you put if you were going to describe the sons in the same way. I think i would flip. I think booker's the heart. And chris is so i think you see i. I think i think. Cpi three is like the the brain i think is the brain operate and endeavour art and soul. Though here's y'all not really going on. Now he's just it's different because cb is like analytical. He's the one that is the mastermind. Yeah no i behind positioning the pieces. Right whereas devon booker. If you're looking it's like he's a great like bobby fisher and then devon booker is like the queen devon booker almost pilot pieces on the board. I would like to introduce you as the thyroid gland. Like jason guy that you ask them you ask him a multiple choice question and he wants to write in the answer because none of these answers make sense on the test. That's why it's so. Let me something that makes sense. Would you like to go to north carolina. Why because yes. You do a trick question. So north carolina to address something with you. John hey how you doing. What's up john. I just wanted to brush up on jay williams on what he just said going back to the last caller If he goes back to nineteen eighty three here. Remember that it was dr jason doctor. Jay was the one who couldn't get the get. Couldn't get past the lakers when they bought over Moses malone way with a beat. The lakers the same situations but crispell so as not chris paul steam just like it wasn't moses malone team doctor james team and this here's devon booker but then one piece that's needed to get past them doesn't make it your team it just helps you make better but let me say i like your example. Actually let me ask you this. How many times is devon booker. Been to the playoffs. Like there is playoff. History between moses malone dr j. devon booker never been to the playoffs to the looked and i give you the final. You know what i mean. That's a huge jump i understand. It's a huge jump. But in today's basketball you add one piece and it's a huge jim. We could take a look at where just adding Adding jrue holiday. Look at the difference in milwaukee. There's plenty of situations like that j. around the whole entire. Nba i just disagree with that point and i understand what you're saying about them not getting there but in today's basketball you add a key piece. That takes you someplace where you've never been and we can take a look at the atlanta hawks when you take a look at a whole bunch of teams that have made jumps throughout the year by just adding this one piece. I i you. John i do hear you. I think this is a very interesting argument. But i think position makes this one. Just a little bit different. And signs of jay's point right before we took your call c. p. three orchestrating and sort of the brain of all of this to the next level but i do hear you on that point. I hear you. But monica thing. About like if you're eric bledsoe Your home run. It'd be like right. Yeah like i was with two sons. That didn't work out. I was with milwaukee so yeah that critical piece. That's a game changing piece. Where your organization do how they game change a piece but c. p. three i mean the bucks have always been the best regular season team over the last several years. They just couldn't get over that hump in the playoffs. We've never talked about phoenix. Being the best regular season team. We never even talked about phoenix being top five in the west yet alone now a team. That's in the finals that finished with the second best record in the nba. That's a monumental piece. Yeah it's not like they were again you go back to the raptors. With d'amato rosen. And kyle our. They were running into a wall every year every year they make that trade they bring in why they get over that wall. Finally that's not. Fa phoenix wasn't running into a wall every year until they finally made a trade that. Got them over the hump. They were a team. That was still kind of on the rise and then you add this piece. That gets them to that next level and boy did they get to that next level they are in the nba. Finals is a fun conversation about chris. Paul let's get back to talking about what's actually going to happen on the court. Starting tonight came one of the nba finals. But the concern is of who's not going to be. There expected not to be there. And that is yana. A who is doubtful for the game. The level of concern of whether or not he will have an impact on this finals. We'll discuss that next. Keyshawn j. will zubin. Espn radio siriusxm channel eighty and of course on the.

Fred Bandleader Toronto Raptors 54 points and you wrap the scoring record and there 1 23 108 went over the Orlando Magic joining us or Freddie Fitzsimmons. You had a slow start mean a team that this season You're starting to come around a little bit more, especially not playing any home games in Toronto. You could be playing those home games in Tampa, Florida. How do you think this team has been able to adapt to that? And now it seems like it's trying to find your sea legs a little bit Fred as the season started go along. It was a rough start for us, and we have patches where we haven't played well, but I was saved The last few weeks. I feel like we've started to play more like ourselves. And just, you know, bringing the new guys along up to speed and trying to reach our people for months that we're that we're accustomed to around here, so A lot of shit a little more, losing them with Houston, but you know, it's a new season. "This man is very polarizing has been all his life. But I've always liked who he is. And what he represents. I've talked about many things with Charles Barkley over. The years basketball is not one of the things I enjoyed talking about with him on the radio. But things like what he did. I don't know if you read about this. There was a viral story about his friend Lin Wang. He just met a random person and was very kind to them and spoke at the funeral and became friends with a random person, and that Lin Wang his son wrote the story about it and people were deeply moved. Here's what I'm here to tell you. I have never in my history knowing anyone in sports or fame, and he learned this from Moses Malone, Dr J, I have never met anyone who was better to people better with anyone like the smallest of people. Than Charles Barkley. And so I don't think this story is even that unique for Charles Barkley. It's unique for us. But I don't think what he did. Here is unique for Charles Barkley low. Second may Charles how does that work always making it about himself scouts is very good. At that. How you still looking at pictures of of your face on t shirts is this an odd story for you. Or is it your life? You you make connections with people. First of all, I want to say one thing I was watching how request the other day, you know, other partner in a refuse by something to show after you highly questionable. The next time. Your bag is a tennis ball stuck in please. Let me be the one who get it. Oh for the love of God, Charles Charles. I said something so nice to you. I sat there. Your day. I get a tennis ball sucker. Thank you could say that Charles twice. I mean. You're not allowed to say that stop saying that Charles you're going to get us in trouble. You're going to get us, and we don't need to be having troubled around here today. Stop saying stuck in anything. All right, ready. Limitation of been that was such a I didn't know, I didn't know the daughter Shirley's one. Let me. And. I've never got a response about anything I've ever done. Like that story almost it was really awesome. I hope people learn number one about land because he was an amazing man on. But like I say in over thirty years and the ad never gotten a response to anything. I did like I got about that story. But explain this to the listeners because I've seen you do it Charles, you, you, you physically touch people and you emotionally touch people. I don't think it's a big surprise the Charles Barkley. I know it's not a big surprise that we'd fly anywhere for someone's funeral like for for anyone's Uniroyal. Well, I think we make a lot of money to play basketball. But that's only a small portion of it anytime somebody in sometimes they are paying when you're trying to eat Downer. Or you what your family any person who comes up to talk to me? I'm gonna get them at time. They learn that Dr J he says we don't get paid just to play. Basketball. You don't make my day. You didn't make three to four million dollars. Just to play basketball. You're supposed to be called you to the fans is opposed to sign autographs, and you're supposed to take pictures, and I've never met it about in my life. Who was better Dr J, and he was one of the first lent. He said, hey, you got to be these your fans because do take on sign autographs, take pictures and. To evade band inactive since congress. Hour 3: Stan's Nuggets
"Stan Van Gundy has had theme related nuggets. The last couple of weeks is this theme related or is this just a hodgepodge of free flowing. Doug it. No, it's theme related again. Then. All right. Well, what are the three nuggets? Well, our theme today is NBA centers. And we'll start with a blast from the past the four fifty point games already this season from NBA players. Got me looking at the history of fifty point games in the NBA. Michael Jordan is second in NBA history with thirty one fifty point games. But the man who is I will Chamberlain had forty five fifty point games in one season. Hundred eighteen in his career, the still. Thanks for being useless as number two. Stan. Nikola yokich. The Denver Nuggets center is currently tagged with LeBron James for seventh in the NBA in assists at seven point seven a center has not been in the top ten in assists. Since Wilt Chamberlain was second in the league fifty one years ago. That joker wilt this stilts that and the number one nugget from STAN Van Gundy this week is I'm gonna go with one of my former guys here last year. Andre Drummond became only the second player in the past twenty six years to average fifteen points and fifteen rebounds in season. Now, he is on pace to become the first player to do it in back to back seasons. Since Moses Malone forty years ago.
