"Stations. All breathe. Mark Blazer show. Welcome in. You know, this is isn't this just perfect? I look up, Josh, and you and I were talking about this last hour. I look, I walk into the studio and I see up on the T V Texas governor calling for immediate reform on power supply in Texas, and I thought to myself. This is perfect, right? I mean, Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Yeah. Windmills don't work during ice storms. Imagine them. Well, yeah, it's a walk in and just see that and well, he's live right now. Actually. Andre? Yeah, I just pulled the old man. I mean, people were using. There's a story about a mom and her kid that died from They were using their cars heater to try to keep their house warm. And they died of carbon monoxide poisoning. They're that desperate to get warm down there. Yeah, it's awful man. Totally. Oh, my gosh. I totally awful, You know, they do deal a lot down there with, you know, there's heavy rains and so on. Will plague those areas in Texas. And so you wonder how many of them have those genera ax or something along those lines that can power? Ah, whole home. General, we know they're not cheap. For starters, but I mean to have that right now clearly would be worth its weight in gold. Of course, depending on you know the area where you would be. You could see people kind of moving into those areas and stealing those Whatever, depending on how you hook them up and how simple they already use. I don't know the first thing about him, but gosh, man, it's just really sad. What's going on there? But it's interesting that the governor there is calling from here. That's the Yes. Isn't that the way something hits and then you go? We gotta We gotta fix that. But you know what? Fix it because it's probably gonna happen again at some point. All right. Let's welcome in from the entertainment, reported ABC News Entertainment correspondent Jason Nathan's and joining us now and, hey, Jason, Welcome in And as we all know that country starting this has been kind of quiet for the last few days, several days. Country star Morgan Wall in remaining on top of the Billboard album charts. Even though all of the controversy and such that is surrounded him. This is interesting. Yeah, he's number one. This is for 1/5 week. Now, the first three weeks he was number one was before the controversy happened. Fourth week he was number one was after the controversy happened. But it happened in kind of the middle of that reporting week for billboards, so you couldn't really count it to get a true sense of how it was affecting the sales and then So now we have a first full week since the controversy. And in that first full week, his streaming took a hit that was down a little bit because of radio airplay. And because he was Morgan loves music was pulled off of playlist on Spotify and and other places as well. But interestingly His sales. The sales of the album were up 49%. So that's pretty significant and seems to me to say that his fans are supporting him while the industry might not But his fans are saying, you know, we're still gonna buy his music and support him no matter what. Yeah, And you know, when all of this started, I was, you know, you hear all of this Spotify and, you know, obviously apple, iTunes and so on. And you hear all of this stuff about you know, they're gonna pull all of his stuff. And so on and so forth, because they don't want to quote unquote. They look at that, as may be viewed as they're supporting him and you know of him using the N word. Clearly, they don't want to be supporting supportive. They don't want to even be associated with him at that point. But, you know, it's like kind of let let the people decide if he dies because of that, Then he screws his own career up kind of a thing, And it seems like there's a little bit of that here. But yet that really wasn't coming to pass. I mean, people like you said his fans. Really supporting you coming out in droves at this point? Well, it's a decision that you can kind of be right in the middle and let the fans decide if you're a company like Spotify or Apple. Whoever you don't want unnecessary, necessarily be seen as supporting his music. Right now, and that's that's the financial choice for them, right? They don't They don't want people to say. Well, we don't support you now because you support him, but the music is still out there. You can't necessarily pull it. I mean, I guess you could pull it from shelves but even digitally, um, you know, again, let that be kind of litmus test and the fans have spoken and said You know, we're we're definitely going to support him. Even though which is kind of surprising Wall in himself said. Don't defend me last week, he said in a in a five minute video apology in which he did. He went through everything, and he said that you know he was absolutely wrong. He's learned in the last week why he was wrong. He's talked to black leaders and black organizations, and they've There. He's got a great lesson on what he did. And why. Why he what he did was wrong. And he said to people that are defending him. Look, don't I don't want you to defend me. This was wrong here on DSA. Oh, maybe that has something to do with it as well. Maybe that was that was enough for fans, you know, Or maybe on the fence today, Okay? He seems sincere here. So we're going toe Chalk this up to a mist Ake. You know this plays into the whole overall thing of cancel culture, which you know so many people have been talking about is if somebody makes a mistake, do you? You burn him forever, Or, you know, is it just that one time or when do you let him back? And you know it's kind of what we're dealing with. Is a society fascinating to me that you know he does that apology video. He's asking them not to defend him. And you might be onto something there. Jason where they go, Okay. He's really sincere about not asking us to defend him. And, well, you know, we respect him for that, Or what have you And you're right. This is typically this leads to the the end of somebody's career. As of late. Um I'II, Roseanne. I mean, you know, you saw what happened there. I mean, there's I know this is kind of a little bit of a different thing, but it typically that you know you're about to find out if the robber really meets the road..

"A complete explosion of people wanting to listen to his music. It's like 1000% up from it was where it was the day before he did this, So whether that's just him you, they say some people say any publicity is good publicity he's being talked about in the mainstream. Unlike most artists ever will be. So whether you want to contributed to that or people who are openly racist, saying I gotta listen to this guy now, now that I know he did that, or just I don't know what the answer is, but I don't know that in this exact moment, even with all the stuff he's lost that he's hurting. He's not hurting financially. He He's hurting inside. I think I don't know anything about him. But he's probably hurting inside because I feel like He believes he's being portrayed as something that he's not. And that's that's got to hurt a guy with a moral compass. If you use a word like that, and you don't think that automatically makes you racist, you could debate whether it does. I'm not here to tell you whether you should or shouldn't feel that way. But there are guys who use that word white dudes. Who used that word and truly don't believe that they're racist. Some of them I tell you, they have black friends, etcetera. Morgan Wall in 2 may seems like one of those guys. So on a drunken night, he said. He was on the 72nd hour of a 72 hour bender, which means for three days, you've pretty much been drinking. Perfect. That's a role model. I have it. I have the apology if you want, so it's it's long so we could just play as much as we want. I got I have clipped. You have clips. That's why better than Yeah. So Neighbor caught him calling someone First pussy ass mother bleep, er And then I believe a same thing, except with the n word on it, and I don't know if it was in a rock hard are to me. It really doesn't matter. He shouldn't have been using that word. And, um, he had a lot taken away from him in that he lost his country music, television video play and almost all of his radio airplay and like, John said. You're going to activate He blew feel strongly against canceled culture and people. We want to support him because of this, even if they don't like him or his music. They're just opposed to cancel culture and the like. This is our guy. Yes, Sadly, yes, that there are those people but as far as seeing a surge in his music plays and searches, I think there's the majority of the population that doesn't listen to country music goes well, who's more wall E. There's a lot of ever heard of him. What's his song? And then they listen to it once, but I'm good for the rest of my life. I only knew who he was because he was the guy who didn't get to do Saturday night live because he was caught partying massless. In Alabama with people and then he had to apologize for that. You throw millions of dollars in me a 27 years old. I'm probably not going to make the best life choices either. So here's a little bit Morgan Wall in after a week or so, breaking his silence about his racial slur controversy. The video you saw was me on our 72 of 72 of a bender. Let so many people down. So this week I've been waiting to say anything further until I got the chance to apologize to those closest to me that I knew I personally hurt. Also accepted some invitations from some amazing black organizations to engage in some very real and honest conversations. And one thing I've learned already is specifically. Sorry for is that it matters my words matter. This week. I heard firsthand some personal stories from black people that honestly should me and I know what I'm going through this week. Doesn't even compare to some of the trials I heard about from them. There's no reason to downplay what I did. I appreciate those who still see something in me and I've defended me. But for today, please don't That's it. That's a damn good quote. If somebody I don't know who made of that, But don't defend me, I think goes goes pretty deep in it. It's okay with me. Yeah, because you're not defiant about it. You know, you stepped in something and Your fans aren't doing you any favors by going. I'm buying five copies of a CD next week is there ain't nothing wrong with what he said. Well, he's telling you there's something wrong with what he said. And he's gonna learn why that was so wrong. Do you need anything? I mean, not that you needed anything from Morgan Wall to begin with. But do you need anything from him? That you didn't get in this apology? No. No. And I mean, the thing is, there's nobody will ever know what's in Morgan Wall in Seoul. Like if he's got friends that know him as a racist, his entire life they might know that But, you know, I think that that what you what is in your heart matters, and we will never know that. Is that just a dumb word in the dumb moment that came out of his mouth as far as be on his end. Or is there something deeper behind it? I don't know. So without truly knowing that Don't know if that means you've got to accept an apology, but I mean to me, I listen to his new album a few times. I like the fact that Chris Stapleton on there. I mean, I'm not somebody who's gonna I don't feel the need to push through because I love him so much or defend him. Danny extent so You know, it's there's so many guys out there specifically in country music. We talk about the stir JAL's and the Tyler Children who don't have never been on the radio who have never had a video on CMT. So I don't know what his what his future looks like. But this feels if there is such a thing is a good first step in the right direction. This is probably it. Yeah, I know that Sam L Jackson as a campaign coming out. What's in your wallet where we're gonna find out like what's in his heart. 77 5791 to 5 to grab a live alone. Who are you?.

"No, Sit down me. There's not a first name, maybe a middle name. Yeah. All right. If I seem to come on, too strong, man I just learned speaking of names. Yes. All that goes into a woman changing her name after they get married, So Daniel had to send off physically. Share her license and our marriage certificate and just send it off in the mail and then, like hope that it comes back one day, not a copy of her lessons. The license that's weird. It is weird unless she was scammed, and I'm just gonna see their identity. I told her if it wasn't changed by by the first that I was taken aback, so imagine two very difficult process changing it should anything everything not work out to like changing it back well, And the thing is, is that that's just the beginning. So you get it change. And then you've got to go change it everywhere. You need a change. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I see what you're saying, man. It's almost not worth it to get married. Do you, do you? You want to build some pomp and circumstance or you want me to just let you know who the winner of the draft is? I don't need the pomp and circumstance is exciting enough that someone's gonna get $2500. To spend that gold and diamond source John, right, and we won't reference the fact that yesterday when we left the show, I was in league with 57%. "It just is very It's not a great edit know, so I don't want to offend anybody. Here s O. What's happened is that he has been suspended from his record label. And he's been dropped from a least as of yesterday. It was like 400 radio stations had had axed his his music. Um, this is not good for him at all. And it's just really disappointing that people are using this word. Even if they're drunk in its ingest like I know, I don't know about you guys, but my family just didn't say that word. And it was the worst word that you could ever say So it isn't in my brain. To say I wasn't raised by people who said that, and they definitely taught me that it wasn't something that anyone should say so it's not in my drunk in my lexicon. Even come out if I'm blackout drunk, you know what I mean? Yeah, I had a friend of mine who was a sky diver girl with me and she we went to a baseball game. All of us together my sky diving friends and she got really drunk and she was yelling it Out at like the players and we were like, Oh, my God. Like we had no idea that she would ever use this word. We were shocked. She was a fun, you know, rough and tumble girl, but we're like Whoa! Get thee to the car like we were mortified and it was like, Oh, it's just like this is not acceptable. Yeah. And There are some country artists that are green with the decision of these radio stations, and he's apologized. Yes, he has said. Kind of a version of this isn't who I am. One of her. Someone says that I always think to myself and look at it and You know, in one side of my brain I I want, you know you want to give people second chances, but from the way, he said this, I think it would be ridiculous for a two for us to assume. This was the first time he's ever said this word. I you know what I mean? I don't think this I don't think this was the first time that this is other ever come out of his mouth. And you know, this is recorded by his neighbors. So you know he was already you know that he pissed off the neighbors enough that they felt the need to start recording this Um, that when I was reading this in rolling stone, That was a fascinating aspect of this, too, That the party was so out of control and it has happened before. Um so that must be And I know right now, this is not interesting is not the right word. But this is Well, it's interesting the stories happening right now because there's a lot of discussion about cancel culture and you know, I I I don't always don't like I don't always like cancel culture. However, I do also think there are consequences. When when you say stuff they are. I mean, there are consequences, and sometimes you can't take stuff back. Um and I know the narrative right now. Is it on Lee happens to More liberal voices. But think about that. I always think about the Dixie Chicks. Look at them. I mean, look, Look what happened to them. Um, you know, I don't know. That's true, he says. He said, I'm embarrassing. Sorry. I used an unacceptable on inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There's no excuses to use this type of language ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word I promise to do better. Yeah. I don't think we used. I don't think many times, haven't we? Yeah. I don't think you can use the drunk. Excuse In the use of that word. I don't think there's any time where that word is appropriate. I also think it's a combination of his behavior. That that alone could just say, Hey, that's not what are you doing? It was just a cry for help. Or is this real hatred? That's inside of you. Also There shouldn't be our heroes. None of these people should write, you know, like I really wish we could just stick to the music. But it's really hard to do when that's the image that you have, like. Why what are you doing? Yeah. I love when you say that when we have when these stars tumble or they have these scandals Yeah, yeah. But it's the reality. A lot of kids. People look up to him. And it is a responsibility that you have to think about when you are out doing things in the public eye, like in the public eye, starting a party. This is your big chance. This is where you're you could Take your career? Yes. And if it's like, Don't screw it up for yourself. What are you doing? Just broke a huge streaming record. I mean, dude was flying high. That is the scary thing. Now I will say, And I'm not. I'm not arguing for the Morgan wall in case But that is the frightening thing about Cancel culture. To me is the fact that in a millisecond You know, when I think about that, the I know we're running late. But this is I want to wrap this up and be our if it'll be fine. Um, I Bethany Frankel on anti Colin. We're talking about this in that podcast interview a reference yesterday. Bethany asked Andy if he worries about Does he worry about things that he says on his show? You know, Ad lib moment, S'more now in 2021 that he did originally is like absolutely he goes. I worry. I worry all the time because in a millisecond You. Your career could be over. If you say something dumb Now this now let me be very clear. This is beyond dumb. I do believe that there is no excuse to ever use that word. But I? It is frightening that like that it can all be taken away. So 6 44 everybody. We're gonna take a break. We'll be back after these words. It's no secret we might talkers love local businesses there the places that sponsor us the.

"Brown. Very happy to have you with us Trending topics coming up here in the bottom of the hour. And then what It is like to live in a very, very tall, tall tower. With very, very expensive condos. It's never as good as you might think It is. All right. So let me get to Morgan Wall and now I have to be honest with you. I'm not familiar with Morgan Wall and I'm a big country Music fan, but sometimes I don't pay attention to what I'm hearing. Morgan. Wallet apparently, is one of the big stars and country music now. Don't know the guy. Can't can't speak one way of the other about his music. But he was caught on video. And why in the world people don't understand that no matter where you are in public, even if you're in your yard, the chances are good. Somebody's got a camera that you're part of right now. Always think about that. No matter where you are, there's probably somebody or something. Some entity company. Whatever. There's a security cam. There's some camera out there and you're in it. I thought we find out a lot of things. Always laugh. When I hear some guy gets arrested in Las Vegas. He's why I went to Vegas to disappear. Yeah, right, the most Cameron City in the country, and that's where you choose to go disappear. You want to disappear. Got a Butte. Even people who live in Butte disappear. All right. So Morgan Wallen was caught saying the n word in a drunken state while out with some friends and naturally The knee jerk reaction of everybody rather than offering gracious forgiveness. And trying to just move on and saying Lesson learned, you know better than that. No. Instead, we have to destroy that person and so all over the land. Anybody who has any connection with Morgan Wallen. Has said no more. He's out. We can't have this kind of thing. It's appalling. What's out little? This is unbelievable. His record company suspended his contract. Radio stations just dropped his music. We're not gonna play that guy anymore. Well, it's a few hours later. Morgan Wallen is now bigger than ever. He has the numbers 1345 and eight singles on iTunes, actually, most of the top 100 or his singles with 14. Floating around. Fans downloaded his records All day is two albums or number one and number two on iTunes. Another one sits at number 12 spot If I didn't drop him or do a thing is right there streaming away. It was roundly criticized by fellow country artists. But you know what? Apparently, Wallens fans don't care to them. It's much ado about nothing. And what is big loud records mean? When they say they've suspended him. He still records he's still getting paid. Say I saw that his record company had suspended his contract that I thought, I bet they haven't suspended taking in their commissions. But they haven't suspended taking in their royalties and I'm sure the money continues to roll in for them Right now. They're just outraged, but not so outraged that they won't take the cash. So most of this faux outrage. I have a feeling a lot of it is that we're supposed to be outraged. We're told. We're supposed to be. I can't believe what this man said. He is asked, begged for forgiveness. At some point does does anybody in this country anymore? Have any forgiveness left in their heart at all? I know nobody on the left does I see that reflected in their political choices on a daily basis, so I already know the answer there, but the rest of you You know, I This is back in the late nineties. I got Email from somebody. And it was as vile and nasty and awful thing. You know, I get emails like that and their Christmas party material. May I mean I really could not care less? Doesn't bother me, but this one was so personal and so violent, horrible I've kept it all these years and every now and then I look at it. I actually put it in one of these little plastic sleeves after I printed it up. And I thought to myself what would make somebody because you know, I'm kind of an innocuous guy. I have more people say Well, you know you're so opinionated, Like, Well, I don't know where you got that idea, but okay. No. But whatever reason, just my presence on the Earth offended this person and they took the time to sit down and tapped out that email and they're going to show me and Always showed me is this is somebody who has some serious problems. And it always comes down to the same thing. If I'm the biggest problem you have If Morgan Wallen is saying something that is offensive to the vast majority of civilization, if if his saying that is so horrible it that's the biggest problem you have to deal with. I envy your life. Because it's real easy to not be a part of that. I mean, it's real easy. On my case, you change the channel. Problem solved. That's all you have to do the flick of a button. It's done. Don't listen to Morgan Wallens Records. Everything's covered. You're good. Now your life is perfect like it was before. But clearly when somebody says these things, this whole cancel culture. This is not about the person that they're trying to cancel. This is about the person doing the canceling. This is an unhappy, awful human being who can't figure out why life didn't work out the way they thought it should work out for them, and they're taking out their bitterness on somebody else. I've seen.

"Let me back on 700 wlw. We've got this big deep freeze. It's coming and my wife Michelle's gonna talk in a real state segment coming up in a minute. We push that back talking about freezing pipes and deal with that kind of stuff. And you want to do that now? Because if you wait while you got real problems, Thea the big story today that wanted to get into a little bit more with the tip is here. Morgan Wall in the country Artist who was caught on TMZ was a neighbor right flight At night. He's drunk with his buddies returning home ring Doorbell goes off waking the whole neighborhood being stupid, and he's been in trouble before for violating covert protocols. Not once, but not twice. The ultimate and stupidity. He's dropping the N bomb Aziz saying goodbye to his buddies, but he's doing it in a no. It is fair to say not a derogatory because there's two kinds right there. There's the hard R and word which is the slur. And then they soft a n word, which is For some a term of endearment. But the argument always has been and is a white guy. I hear you that you shouldn't use the word because it's so inflammatory defensive and it's bad, bad, bad bad and it is that the origins of where there's there's no defense of using the word but Um in but and here's the guy he started his buddies, I guess in his term of Endearment was still a white guy using the N word, so he lost his record deal like I heard dumped him. Everyone's dropped this dude, and it's been been the number one album I think since January are at least Yeah, for like, four weeks now. On DSA. It's pretty much over for Morgan Wallen. But then here, Okay? Well, if you're hip hop artist, you use the word. It's different, because because why I mean, how many hip hop artists are being dropped by their labels or I heart or the other radio companies out there because they used the n word? I mean, if we're for fairness and sense of fair play in equity you when it comes to things under the law and again, not the law. But in this case, the court of Public opinion with the rules are the rules should apply equally to everyone else. I guess I mean there. I know their cultural differences, but I still to this day. I don't I don't get it's okay. It's okay because I look like the guy that if I'm black, I can use the n word. Yeah, I never some Some people agree with that some down. Hey, Glenn. Thanks for checking in, man. What's up? Okay, I'm doing. Give me your dad's a black eye. Give me what I know. We've talked about this before in the past. But you know if your your take on this Well, I'm I mean, with all due respect, I want to get credited jail for you know, friend Scott did. There's no difference between a hard or in a soft bag. I mean, if I call you a cracker or a cracker, it's true. I mean, so I don't get that and I can already see the what about is, um And you know, white guys are the victim of a double standard Now, which is news to me is a black guy. But I will say this. You don't think there's a double state. You don't think there's a double standard when it comes to using the n word thing, You know, I don't start with me. This is the thing. I know the difference between they repel doing a Jeff worked up awkward that you might be a redneck joke and Jeff Foxworthy actually doing that as an adult black guy, and I'll end with this. This. Can you explain to me Because I hear we're gonna play the double standard chord. I can already see it. But the hierarchy of the executives of all these music companies the majority of those guys. What 99.9% white? Am I not correct? Okay, So you know, this is not black guys. Put the hammer down on on on the white guy like stuff. Yeah, There's no doubt because it soak and I'm glad we're the place now, quite honestly, where the focus is on this word, right where there's serious consequences if you were there. No, but I don't mean to be focused on the work that that that's not the point. That's I mean, that's not the point out what he was doing. Don't have a damn thing to do with Kanye or Jay Z on that video. I clean it, So I mean again. What is not that complicated? I kind of know not to make like, you know, anti Semitic jokes. I kind of know, like not to walk up to the white guys really wouldn't say. Hey, you, you know, but whether this is something who are all I'm with you. I don't I don't think you know I'm not. I don't use the word because of that, because I know it's history. You know, it's like it's like the before they got Thom Brennaman fired. It's like It was a time where you could use that and people go. Yeah, but you know what Time's your change diaper changes, and that's a good thing. But I guess my Glenn, thanks for the call. My point here, though, is OK. Are they really because I guess the way to look at. Is this all right? We're talking about the n word in this atrocious Houston with what Morgan Wallet had to say. But I can use the word bitch with impunity. I just said it right now. I can't say the n word. I can't say a word. I can't say the P word there The K word. And you say that on the Earth or not, I get nervous every time you open your mouth about me, too. But you know, we just played out of the other day, Right of LeBron LBJ used. You play the audio of him calling that woman the B word, right? I can use the word. But I can do it in a kidding fashion. If I called you the B word liked if you know what you're such a that says, Let's Square is like, Hey, you know, um you know be please. Sure. Go, bitch, please. That's a different thing than me calling you that. But the thing is OK. I'm not a female. If your values Glenn's logic in the logic is on, I don't even agrees with this either. I think he's I think we agree. And we disagree. But there are people that say if you're black, you can use the n word. Okay on DSM Scholars say that too, But they have reclaimed the word. Well, she had a memoir, The kid that came out recently called the Meaning of Mariah. And in the book, she talked about her older sister, Allison, who she claims drugged her with Valium. When she was 12 offered her cocaine burned her. And also tried to sell her to a pimp. You know, all the usual things that can happen, Of course, you know, I think that was a my three sons episode if I if I remember No, no, no, You're mixed up, but leave it to be believed it. Yeah, well, the sister Alison now is suing Maria for one and a quarter million dollars. For what she says are cruel and outrageous allegations, claiming that after that she was diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. There has been no comment from Mariah Carey on the lawsuit. And let's talk about Morgan Wallen, who was in a bit of trouble this morning. Yeah, this is really just a horrible story. Morgan Wall in might be one of the biggest Players in country music right now, I know he's got the number one album on the Billboard charts for while that lasts because over the weekend. He was recorded on Ah neighbor's security video. Staggering outside of his house. It sure seems like The result of a wild night He comes home and is shouting back and forth with the people that he was with and at a point was shouting out the n word at one of the people. In this video. I mean, they were. They were shouting loudly enough that the trigger the home security video from the house across the street, so pretty loud engagement, so As a result of all a TMZ put the video on their site. On as a result of that, now, Morgan Wallens record label has suspended him indefinitely. Radio stations that were playing Morgan Wall in music now are not Same with satellite radio and country music, television and streaming services. They've all pulled his music from their playlists, saying that they do not want to in any way. Glorify somebody who Acts like that and uses that kind of language is result. Morgan Wallenda's issued a statement. Saying. I wish I could take that back. There are no excuses to use this type of language ever. And he says, I want to sincerely apologizing for using the word and adds, I promised to do better. All of this from the guy who was dropped from a scheduled Saturday night live appearance at the end of last year when he was caught on video again. In a crowded bar, partying it up with a bunch of people not wearing a mask, which was in violation of Saturday Night Live's Cupid 19 Protocol, so once that that video came out Saturday night live, dropped his appearance. You know, and he did the same. I'm sorry. I should have known better. I'll do better in the future kind of kind of deal and that they did book him any the he was back on the show. A month or so after that, but it's this. This is career busting trouble for this guy who was, I think it was one of the big winners on the voice on And you know all these the radio stations and country organizations. Our old reacting to this much the way they did when the R Kelly controversy popped up, and everybody started dropping his music as they should. You can appreciate the apologies, but he's got a bad track record. Super Bowl is Sunday. And as always, the commercials have started playing early. Haven't thing. Yeah, this is you know, I like this that the advertisers are, you know, quote, they're leaking their commercials. They're the ones that are posting the commercials. They're not being leaked. Released s so people can watch the commercials ahead of time, which is fun. And I like you, too, Because this way I can really concentrate on eating super unhealthy food. Sure, and not be distracted by the commercials while I'm trying to eat a three layer cheese dip on, But there have been some really good ones so far. My favorite one is that there's a wolf Farrell Commercial for GM electric cars where he's most of the commercial. I would I would play the audio for them, but they wouldn't make much sense because they're very visual. But in this one, will Ferrell. Is mad at the country of Norway. He hates the country of Norway in this commercial because they produce more electric vehicles in Norway than we do in the United States. And he is he is going to Norway to try to settle this once and for all. On the it Zaveri funny sequence of things that happened. You all of these are available on YouTube. You can see all of the commercials. There's a couple of new really funny Garrido commercials. With Wayne's world with Wayne and Garth and Cardi be joining them on their cable access show. There's a really funny Eminem's commercial. It's called the I'm Sorry Eminem commercial with people. Apologizing to each other for things that they do by offering them Eminem's, but they're really funny Scenarios is one of my favorites. And I think earlier you you have the Dolly Parton. Commercial, do you? I don't know if you want to play against and she did earlier, not here a little bit. She took her song 95 reworked it. For this company that makes websites and specifically are working with people who are doing side businesses during the pandemic, not people who work 9 to 5, but People who are working from home from 5 P.m. to nine PM out of their houses here it is working fast.

Wallen canceled basically now removed from Ah, lot of platforms allegedly over using the N word and Now the most toxic word in America. At this point, you use it, You lose it and not just the word you lose. Your career will see how far this goes. But this is Well, it's interesting the stories happening right now because there's a lot of discussion about cancel culture. And you know, I I don't always don't like I don't always like cancel culture. It's true, he says. He said, I'm embarrassing. Sorry. Excuse In the use of that word. I don't think there's any time where that word is appropriate. I also think it's a combination of his behavior. That that alone could just say, Hey, that's not what are you doing? Just a cry for help, Or is this real hatred? That's inside of you. Also There shouldn't be our heroes. None of these people should write, you know, like I really wish we could just stick to the music. But it's really hard to do when that's the image that you have, like. Why what are you doing? Yeah. "The sound of one of the most popular country artists in America. Right now, his name is Morgan Wall in some would say he is the victim now of cancel culture, and there's a lot going on with this story. It blew up yesterday, so we're gonna cut to that in just a couple of minutes here. I just want to get you caught up on Everything else that is going on dense fog advisory this morning, So if you're heading out early, take your time. It's not that bad, but just something to be cautious with. It's eventually going to burn out probably around nine o'clock this morning. Coronavirus relief may become a reality more quickly. The Senate is expected to vote today. After the House voted last night approved a budget resolution that would allow the chamber to advance coronavirus relief package through the reconciliation process. Obviously Republicans, not a big fan of this, But this does allow the Democrats to pass binds $1.9 trillion measure with a simple majority vote. The last time I believe something like that was done was 2017 of the other story we've been hearing about through D. C was the GOP secret Vote the After long hours, closed door meeting the House GOP conference. Voted last night 1 45 to 61 to keep representative Liz Cheney in the number three position despite her pro impeachment vote. Now at that same meeting, we've been hearing a lot about Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Some having issues with their conspiracy theories, and as Mitch McConnell said, I think earlier this week I'm sorry. It's just the way he put it. The loony lies is, as McConnell said. House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy said that great apologized to members and expressed Sympathy for some of her. You know, I guess remorse for her past comments about Cuban in school shootings, one of the representatives said in the conference voted to keep the entire team together. The House is set to vote today and stripping committee positions from green after there's Rules committee approved the vote. All right. So if you don't know, I also do afternoons on our sister station 92.3 wco. Well, I've been doing that since 1999 very, very familiar with country music. I've interviewed Morgan Wall in tons of times. Didn't expect that I would be able to get him on the air. The sporting so I didn't even try after this controversy. It's It's a tough one. It's a tough one. No matter how you look at it, Morgan Wallen has had the number one album in the country for country music, really, for the past. I think that well since the start of the year, his dangerous double album, hey, is one of those artists that is continuing to make country music. America's music what it is. He's had some controversy in the past. One of those controversies was, of course last year, going into an Alabama bar on by disregarding the covert policies not wearing a mask. Make it out with different girls. He is 27 years old. I'm not giving him that. But he is a younger man. So he was uninvited. For a future performance on SNL. Eventually, he was invited back. They made fun of it Always good. Except something that happened over the weekend and it blew up overnight Monday night into Tuesday. So much so that Morgan had to apologize. It was the wee hours of the morning on Monday, when a neighbor on the I don't know if it was a ring. It doesn't matter. But it was a video recorded of Morgan, clearly drunk. Saying a few choice Passwords and using the N word on top of it. Now having friends that are black. I will say that that's obviously award that I never years it was it was ingrained in me early on. Hey, that's just that a word you use. Of ill. So full disclosure. I am I was a farm boy. I grew up on a farm middle of nowhere, but still was told. Yeah, that's just not a That's not a word that you use. So this was captured and then posted center TMZ, his neighbor, organ, Wallace, neighbor sent this to TMZ. And of course it it exploded after that, because he had used that racial slur. And so it was like dominoes. Yesterday. You had radio station Cos you had CMT, you know, letting cutting loose that plane his videos anymore. Radio companies pulling his music. There was a report that Spotify, for example, Pandora was pulling his music, but I looked this morning and they're still playing his music, but everyone from radio companies to even his own record label. Suspending indefinitely his contract at this point Some would say this is a double standard. How is it that in rap music, you are allowed to talk about drugging women. And using the N word. But someone who just out about didn't know he was being recorded. Is able to some would say, you know, get blackmailed if you will. He has since apologized for this, too. Saying that it was wrong. I'm embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur, so he knows he certainly knew better. And he said, I wish I could take it back. There are no excuses to use this type of language language ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word I promised to do better. Here's where the cancel culture I believe comes in before real quick before I get to that. The last time I had someone say to me I only only black people can use. The n word was probably when I was in in college, and I was mystified by that. But through the years and I'd like to think I've grown to be wiser and now into my forties and Had a nice discussion with a colleague of mine. Who is a black male here in the office, and I said, Teach me more about this. It seems to me that the n word there are. There are different angles to this. There are different dimensions to this word, he said. You're absolutely right. There are and I asked about the rap music and how that's acceptable and Um, it wasn't a big fan of that either. However, he did say he's older than I am. He is in his sixties now and he said, You have to understand that in the sixties and early seventies When I was growing up, we use that to mock white people who would say that to us historically, But it was it was between us. It was never And then through the years in the seventies. You had shows like all in the family. Who would try to desensitize that word. Now, here we are. 2021. I really don't know of, if a word like that can have her get desensitized, But it also depends on who you talk to. Because I can tell you that I have neighbors. That are black families..

I think from what I can from what I understand, so, but that's how you know you made it when it's not just the accident. It's a leak. I mean, I'm fine with that. You know, I've honestly thought about doing something like that on purpose before, But this was an accident. There are 30 songs total on the two records. The target has, plus two Yes, only 32 overall. So how many songs do you write to trim it to 32? Uh, Don't know. Probably 100. Something like that, I would say. How long does it take you to write 100 songs? Uh, me. It probably took about 2.5 years. Um, I mean, you know some people, I think a lot somewhere just may write more than that. But for me, I don't write every day or right all the time. You know, just when it comes, it comes and goes for me, but I'd say it probably 2.5 years. I was looking at my phone before you came in. Amy, Listen to this. Morgan. Text me on Monday, December 28th at 7:50 a.m.. Which, by the way, it's done it. I thought my house is on fire. Someone to text me at 7 45 in the morning on the 20th. That was like, Oh, God. My phone's ringing. Like what? What happened? He goes hoping to Mary Christmas brother. Disclaimer. I was in the east. I was on Eastern Time zone. So it's 8 45 from what were you doing up? So all right during break? I don't know. I was like, What is he doing? I wasn't even up that early, and I replied back. I would like you to fancy you soon. And I was like, What is Morgan doing of it? Eight o'clock? You think that might have been? I was, I think I was headed to Charleston. What do you do for Christmas? Think I was listening to the radio, and you came on this. Okay, So it's like a best of show. I think so. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Got it. What was Christmas like for you? It was good man was white. And he said to say we had a white Christmas Sounds cool. I think the last time we had that was about 10 years ago. To spend it with my family man. It was miracle when you go back home, and I know where you grew up, and it's around Knoxville, But what's home? What do you call home when you go to town? Well, Knoxville and Stephen both, um You know, I spent a majority of my time and knocks feel growing up. I'd say probably around 10 years, but I spent five or six in Stateville, and that's where I was born. That's where a lot of my family's from, so I just kind of concern both my home If you go to a restaurant, or you go to chili's or something, Do you start seeing people grow up Morgan Wall into Chili's I don't go there, right. You're just going to just chill. Yeah, remember 25..
Blake Shelton defends 'Minimum Wage' song
"On the phone. Right now is blake shelton it. We got new song out today We do and It's we kicked around actually releasing this song last last year at the end of the year december and and happy anywhere still kind of having its moment at country radio and we didn't want anything to get in the way of that record because that's been fun record to have and didn't want anything to interfere with what it what it may go on to do And so we backed out. And now we're releasing this all minimum wage. Which i've actually had recorded now for Maybe a year or something and and just you know everything. Kinda got thrown spun out last year. Obviously it did for everybody else and and So we're gonna come with a new album that this'll be the first single off of that album and we're pumped about it just because it's it's up campo it's fun and fully energy and and I definitely need some of that in my life and hopefully Everybody kind need some of that. If you put out a song and it does not go number one. Is that a disappointment to you Well that's been a disappoint not just at this point in my career. I mean if you're going to release a solid radio. I mean you're lying to everybody if you say it's not in the back of your mind that you hope it goes number one. I mean you otherwise. You wouldn't even release it to radio and go through the promotion process and you know all the things that you that you have to do to to be a part of that world. I mean you know. I mean you see. Every week somebody is trying to get their record number one and and You know for me. Not that i expect it to go number one but at the same time. I'm disappointed if it doesn't just because i know how hard everybody on the team works to get those things to the top you know and it just try to get done. Blake shelton on with us. What was the first job you had where you made minimum wage our roof houses in ada oklahoma and they may have been more than minimum wage. I think about. I think i got paid eight dollars an hour and i feel like way back then. Minimum wage might have been six dollars an hour or something closer to that. So man i. I stepped right into the big money. Roofing houses you know. I wrote houses to arkansas. But i didn't. I don't know if you started like i did. I had to be tear off. Guy i before i was actually the guy with the shingles is that. Was that your pat. I never worked up to shingle. In two years. I was a tear off and carry. I could carry by the end of the road. I can carry two bottles of shingles up at a time on on my shoulder which is like a hundred and twenty pounds. That was the only time in my life. I was ever in shape. Of course i was still a teenager. So i had that going for me. How do you feel about the return of the mullet. What do people say about yours back. In the day versus you know kind of the new generation of the mullet. Here's how about it. Because i'm a little jealous And that's been honest. i'm. I'm a little jealous that i don't have the mullet. But here's what i've found. Is you know you look at morgan. Wall he's a good looking guy and he's in shape and and when i've tried growing my mullet out this last last year during the quarantine time i realized for me. You can't be fat and have a mullet lock. You know what. I mean in order to get away with it. You have to have something else going for you and you know back in the day when i had one man. I was skinny. And that's not how it is anymore. And so i'm gonna have to. If i'm going to have the mullet. I gotta lose hundred fifty pounds. There's a lot that's a big number man pat is. I'm sorry bobby. Blake this whole controversy about minimum wage. When it finally gets to you that people are. I don't know whatever they are. Do you roll your eyes or do you go to this Well i've learned over the years not to just roll my eyes. You know until. I really get to the bottom of whatever. The particular controversy is that But when i saw this on was i i mean. I don't want him everything but it kind of a role of the is. Because i think if there's if you can find something offensive about this song i mean you're either you're just looking for fight or you're probably not a country music fan to begin with you know it's i. I really can't draw connection between anything controversial. And i love song. But you know it's It's the times we're in. i guess but we're just. We're proud of the song and and we love it. Which is weird. Because as soon as i heard about the controversy i came on and was just railing against these overly woke folks. It's what i was calling him. And then i started to get pushed back for standing up for the fact that it was a metaphor for life in that i was someone who grew up on minimum wage for most of my life. I wasn't. I was just so irritated in ronnie dunn fight. The standing up for two like why in the world is happening with folks. Think you just gotta go okay. Well that's your your take. We're we're going to keep going on with reality on this road and you can take whatever turn you want to Because it's at the end of the day it's a song about if you got love and then you didn't you've got the everything that matters you know And again if there's something offensive about that then i this is not the the world i wanna live in. Have any of your other songs sparked up debate. Like do people get upset about hillbilly bone. Because you know you know you know. Only you know only time that people get upset about that song when we perform it live and trace sexually points In the in the area makes it makes it big deal every time it gets to the chorus like. He's got a point to himself to be sure you understand exactly what he's talking about. I don't know. I don't know i don't know what to say. Oh i i thought he he points to a hillbilly and the crowd. Yeah that's right that's not me up. Blake shelton's got a couple more questions for you. I was talking to devon dawson recently. Who is one of the writers god's country and he told a story about how they they had sent playlist to you a few songs and god's country was one of the first ones on that playlist. Can you just kind of tell me your version of the story. But hearing god's country i was well. I don't think. I heard the other song that they spent because wanted god's country was the first song on that email or whatever i got and i stopped right there. I was on my There's a rumor going around that. I was on tractor But i was actually on skid steer different kind of equipment. But i had a both in that thing and i was i was mowing and doing some things and i figured out how to our. He's not think. I even tried to open the email to see if i could learn how to use my bluetooth and and And i turned it on. And then i was. I was shocked. I was blown away. I couldn't even believe what. I was hearing. 'cause i knew that it was it was a it was game changer. It was that lacombe. Nothing would be the same for any of us involved after this song is far from a career standpoint and and what it was going to to do you know and in my mind anyway because every time you record song you say oh my god this could do this or that And this one seemed like it would just almost Start a new chapter for me. And it did to be honest It's one of the few times that actually had a vision and trick that the my last question for you if twenty eight number ones now twenty eight like once concerts return. You're at the point now where you could do. Two nights in a city playing pretty much all number ones and other massive songs didn't quite number one is that something that you'd want to do is do two nights and a city making sure you get all the hits in what i wanna play in front of a of a full crowd and two nights probably will be one night too many from i guess i guess if people would promise they would come back in the second half then. Yeah that would be a blast. I used to always think that about george strait. I always thought it'd be cool if he did like a marathon like a four or five hour concert just all these number one hits and it was on. Hbo or or something like that. Yeah that's my big idea for george. Anyway he needs it. I think he's he's in the business for some career advice so i'm gonna hit him up. Tell him he loves it. He loves to work. I'll tell you
Jack White replaces Morgan Wallen as 'SNL' musical guest
"Van Halen last night on Saturday night Live The thing that people are talking about besides the fly sketch that they did to open this show, they spoofed the vice presidential debate you know with, of course, with the fly. Was the last minute musical guest that they got for the show. The original guest musical guest for SNL last night was supposed to be Morgan Wall in the country star. He tested positive for nobody. Actually, you know what he did not test positive for covert 19. But he had posted videos of himself. At parties kissing strangers, not social distancing. Prior to his the rehearsals for SNL, and the show made the decision to cancel him because he had put himself in so many Unsafe situations so they needed to find a new guest. Morgan Wallen admitted that he'd made a foolish mistake. That he put he put himself in that jeopardy and apologized. But they needed to find another musical guest, and I don't think they could have found a better one for last night, Jack White. Formerly of White Stripes, who Ah performed last night. But while he while he was performing, he was playing a guitar that was made for him specifically designed by Eddie Van Halen. And Eddie. This was his quote, and he was very kind to me and saw to it that this guitar was made for me to my specs. And he said, thanks, Eddie for the guitar rest in peace. Adding, I won't even insult the man's talents by trying to play one of his songs. But he did acknowledge Eddie Van Halen on DH, thanked him and played I didn't know that Jack White was as screaming a guitar player as he wass. I, You know, I've known him only from white stripes. Hey, was fine was perfectly, you know, good, exceptionally good. But last night he was channeling any fan Hale and he was His performance was completely phenomenal and add to it that he was playing a guitar that was designed by Eddie Van Halen that Eddie You know, make sure that he
