Ovechkin and the caps snapped their own four game losing streak. Yeah, it's important to points. I think we have said we were struggling with high position, but it's a good thing like we battle through it and get it to place. Marcus, Johansson also lit the lamp, the flyers got goals for Morgan frost and Patrick Brown. Craig heist Washington

"What has gone on in Philadelphia that has put them in this spot? Well, it's never one thing, right? Never. For years in Philadelphia, they chased the next best goalie, whomever that was. Yeah. At one point they, I forget the amount of money they signed Ilya Burj gala for and then a year and a half later they bought them out because he couldn't stop a curling rock. And, you know, for a while, they had Roman Czech manic. And then it was on to the next guy in the next guy. Then they draft Carter hart and it seems like they've got their goaltending solved. One of their issues is their goaltending is not good enough. They go when they trade a first round pick a second round pick and Robert hogg for harassment. Like that's an enormous pay for a second pair defenseman at best, right? Clone drew is not a clo drew of 90 point closure. No. Sean couturier has been injured in banged up. Nolan Patrick did not work out for them. Yeah. They went and signed Ryan Ellis. He's played four games for them. He's been heard. They've got young guys Joel Farrah bee and Morgan frost and they're just, I watched them play. I was in Philly like they're young. It's hard to evaluate them yet. They're just so young. Travis connect me scored 20 goals and now he looks like he's never going to score again. So I think they've lost a clear vision for what they're trying to be. I think there's always a poll in Philadelphia to be what they used to be. Right. That doesn't work anymore. They're not they're either not big enough and tough enough or they're not fast enough and skilled enough. But you can't be a little bit of both. Like you have to have 100% that identity that you can build your team into. Doesn't mean every player has got to be the same. But there has to be, you have to get on the same road. Right now, it's like a, it's a bunch of guys. Yeah. They're playing. We often talk about good goals, anything we often talk about bad cold ending. One thing we don't often talk about specific to gold attending is whether or not the goalie should be suspended for his actions on the ice. Now we know that Aaron Dell has had his hearing with the department of player safety. So while people are listening to the podcast chances are, we also know what the number of games is. You know, is it one is it two? Is it three, what is it? He takes out Drake batherson on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, batherson is heard on the play a high ankle sprain, which is going to keep him a out of the all star Brady chuck has replaced Drake batherson on the all star roster. But out of the lineup, the Ottawa senators for a considerable part point of time. That high ankle business can be tough, right? Literally could be the rest of the year..

"Things and on demand audio that call with he and Kevin Adams and then don Granada was also almost open The bulldog if you missed either or both. Check them out. Wdr 5 50 dot com. Philadelphia is our next stop. We're logging some Frequent mileage here on our Western hotline as we try and look at possible landing spots for Jack Eichel Flyers are up next and for that we go to Jordan Hall, who's with NBC sports in Philly, and he's joining us right now. Jordan and Howard and Jeremy Good morning. Welcome to the show. Thank you much for having you guys. Jordan, with the Flyers be in play here. I feel it's silly to ask anybody who covers another team saying, Would they like Jack Eichel? But would the Flyers be in play here? I think they will, how hard they'll be in play. I'm uncertain of that. But When you had this season, the Flyers did a season that came off a year in which they fell Woman Chive Eastern Conference final. They then fall back and don't even make the playoffs. They're in a spot where they really want to get back into contention next year. They want to build rebuild the excitement of the fan base. So Chuck's lecture, the general manager of the team, said they're going to look to improve everywhere. And when he says that I think they're going to keep their minds open on everything and anything, And when you hear that Jack Eichel's possibly out there I would be very surprised to fires in the least look into it and see what Buffalo wanted. How do they stack up at center Right now? The Flyers. What's the depth chart like It's a little thin because they had hopes and goals and Nolan Patrick really bolstering, um, their their center death. He just has not panned out so far, the 2017 2nd overall picks. He had a migraine disorder last season, so he missed all of last year. He came back this year and played Um, but just did not look like himself. He had singled at a point. Was in the minus 30 range, so he's still young and the team still has hopes for him. But right now, just given that Patrick hasn't been the guy that aid envisions, um they're they're relatively thin down the middle. They have shown Victoria. He's very good. They have Kevin Hayes, do they Had for five more years. But after that, um there's been there thin at that position. So, uh And I know Senator the premium position so there will definitely be interested. They would love a Jack Eichel. It would just be willing, it would come down to what they're willing to give up. We and we'll get to prospects in a second. We've always pre cap and even in the cap. We've always looked at Philadelphia as a team that never has any trouble finding financial resources to pay players. What about cap space? Um, could they make the five year contract to cap number all of that fit in the Philadelphia budget? Yeah, they they've improved their cats but less in 2019 20. They made some trades on they took on some cat to the point where it's gotten tighter, and I think a lot of teams are dealing with it. But Fletcher has said. They're you know, they're not in the worst shape. Some teams are in much worse so they can make it work. I think that would come down to what they give up in the trade. Would they be able to shed some cats in the trade? Um, could they make some other deals to also shade cats? They're pretty creative. In that way. I think Chuck Fletcher would be able to make it happen. I think they would be able to take on the money that Michael had. Um Yeah, I don't. I wouldn't see that being an issue, but they would have to do some maneuvering. That's for sure. What is there a particular contract? You think that they would be at least asking the Sabres to take back as part of a deal. Yeah, I would think if it's just given that they're going to be looking for a hall, buffalo, Um maybe they would want a player like a Travis. Connect me who makes In the 5.5 million range. Um, and he's a young, proven player. That's only probably getting better. Um, I don't know if the fires will be willing to Ask Buffalo to take some of their bigger names that have really put them in health. Kap situation is like a James van Riemsdyk, iyc or Jacob, or attack has been rumored to be on the move, Possibly, but those guys are into 78 million range. So if Buffalo would be open to taking it proven established player that you can make them better right now, Um, I think that would be a possibility for the Flyers to shed cat. But those are some of the bigger names that Jacob Board checks the James van Riemsdyk. And then Travis connect me as a as a younger guy that I think is going to really appeal to a lot of teams. Given his age of 24. He got security now on his contractually. There will be a team control there. And he's thinking about 5.5 million season. So I think that you know is doable, and it will be away for the floor of the shed cat as well. If you look at the prospects, you know the top young prospects. Who are we talking about? Is there a guy or a couple of guys? That would be, you know? Well, the Flyers would wince if they have to trade him. Who were those best prospects Be to go after Ken York, I think is the first one that comes to mind. 2019 1st round pick the organization it soon be high on him. He's a point producing defenseman. He's going to quarterback your top power play unit. He's very smart and cerebral in his own zone. He actually has the single season record for points by a defenseman at the U. S Development program. He had a really impressive year. This year, he won gold at the World Juniors at the U. S captain. He was big 10 defense in of the year, And then he even played three games at the Flyers. He's only 20 years old. He's one of the top prospect in the team system. I think he would have to be in play here when you're considering Jack cycle. I think the organization loves him. He was actually the first pick of this Flyers regime, Chuck Fletcher and Brent flair. He was their first ever drive pick. Under this regime. So, uh, he's one that picked out for sure. Morgan Frost is another 1 22 year old center 2017 1st round pick. Uh, he had shoulder surgery in February. So we missed all of this season, He played only two games. He was a two time 100 point scorer at the O H l level. He played well with the HL affiliate, uh, phantoms in 2019 20 this year. He just unfortunately had an injury that took him out. But playmaking center various studying guy. That I think a lot of teams are going to have their eyes on for sure, Jordan last thing in a couple of the names on and throw out you just from our standpoint up here if it didn't work out with Michael, would there be interest in maybe Sam Reinhart, who certainly would cost less in return and And all that stuff, and I know like there's a hot rumor this week, the Flyers might be going after Seth Jones. Have to say that Rasmus risk to Lindenwood beyond that same level. But what about Reinhardt? What about risk the line if they're looking at a defenseman? Yeah, I think that's definitely gonna be on the table that that's I think the biggest eject objective of the Flyers, all seizing its defensive help. They allowed the most goals in hockey this season. They had a minus 38 goal differential. They really just did not fill the void left by Matt Niskanen, who retired last all season, and it really hurt them, so they're lacking depth on the back end. They need experience. They need guys that can prevent goals. So I think defenseman will be the biggest objective. But they truly will look everywhere to get better. Obviously, they know they can print prevent goals, uh, by having a tougher team to play against, and that goes for wingers that goes for centers that goes for defenseman. But defenseman I think will be their biggest, their biggest goal of adding this all season, so I would definitely think those two are on the table. And I think the Flyers in Buffalo will be having conversations this all season. Jordan Hall with the latest on the Flyers, Jordan, thanks for coming on with us, and I guess you know should be appropriately. Tell someone in Philadelphia Happy Fourth of July weekend have a great holiday. Thanks so much. You two guys..
