"Start with the game itself because it was as we said at the top an instant classic the united states winning three two in the first ever concha caf nations league final mexico at twice both from decca tito goals from the is the. Us came back twice. Goes off corner kicks or one. From june from weston mckennie mexico waved off. For an offside on xtra moreno very close off side to to as we headed into extra time and then it was a story of two penalties christian pulisic converted. His and undress were not save by. Ethan horvath hark. Perhaps it wasn't the greatest game aesthetically. What in terms of spectacle in terms of rivalry truly truly delivered especially for tournament. An event the nation's the that we've all been downplaying for quite some time. Yeah we've been downplaying it and you can say whatever you want about the importance of tournament or not at the end of the day. It's a final. It's vs mexico that captivates that gets the attention when you talk about. Was this a good outing of football display. No it wasn't pretty by any standard tactically. Technically lacking very deficient both teams in certain areas individual performances. That were very deficient. But then you had these wait. A second. Look at meet type performances. You had these look where this is going. Dramatic pauses twist plot us events like var calls. Whatever may be that. we're just dramatic. They were just like where are we going with this. It just kept you on the edge of your seat every single twist and turn you knew it was because it was important versus mexico. Us men's national team playing in denver playing at home a very young promising team against qigong cough. So by no means was it pretty but everything you would wanna final the dramas the twist that turns everything this had.

This season the big moments in which you need athletic to really get a whole of the title to really say you know what we are worthy. A winning league got this year. And i go back to both of their matches against the the first one. That was embarrassing. How bad they were the second one in which they allow me to come back and tie game one. "Let's welcome in craig. Burley julian laurent and moreno guys. Plenty of world cup. Qualifiers to discuss. Let's start with the pick of the day from wednesday in group g turkey a four two victory over the netherlands bracket mouse with the hat trick. Telenovela scored as well david class in luke. Diong the goal scores for the dutch memphis to pie missing a penalty late. See this was a crazy game to come out more impressed with turkey or disappointed in the dutch. Oh definitely disappointed in the dodge. Listen to the tux. Four shorts and four goals. Something something crazier so clearly. The game plan was to keep tight and try and catch jonah. And so for them. It was a perfect game for the dutch yes. They scored two goals away from home. Yes they got. Apparently but all of these things were when it was too late and with a possession. The dutch with the ball particularly in the attack in the did absolutely nothing with so going forward in some respects. They a blunt. Clearly we useful goals. You got problems at the back. Alley pre pandemic. I feel like we were talking about. The dutch is a potential favorite. Dr course at least for the euro's things have certainly changed under frank gore and you just mentioned the name that changed at all frankly war he gets a hold of this national team and it's my goodness this is going to possess the ball to that they're gonna pass the ball sideways and back but when it comes to being efficient in the attack well there ineffective. This is a team that in the first half. Yeah they had all the possession in the world but did nothing with it as stephen. Just alluded to it and then defensively. Not enough for incision not enough work in one v one situations almost prize that the turkish team was actually getting after an attacking them when there were opportunities to do so. This team has all sorts of flaws. But i think the biggest flaw comes from the top frank gore. I just have to say. I have no idea how he got his hands on this national team job and to me it looks like a guy who dosing match the personnel that he has available to him on the field. This team is all over the place

"Welcome insulation of spnfz down. Thomas during the today by allie. Moreno gotten off coffee. You'll be hitter flags on a big win for you today but we start in the champions leaks good matches. Isn't it coming up over the next couple of days. We'll stop at looking trump. Let's go madrid against chelsea some other. The chelsea as favourite not six to four on to advanced next trying athletics. Eleven to ten men rapids. He absolutely flying in la league the first half of the season they have somewhat just a little bit foreign off. Course levante being very much thorn in that side. You're against on wednesday lost on saturday. Let's welcome shall we. Don't just sit low. Lo look ahead to this game. Say let's start off with a athletic perspective xiaowei. What's going wrong with them. They all right. I think we'll go move the wrong with them. In part was that this was likely to happen at some stage. Although perhaps not in quite this way bear mind. They've now dropped many points in twelve days as they had in the inside season up until that point but is in for full-on collapse in all four games. It's one victory to drills the fate as a site. that'd be on such good full. It was fifty four fifty seven points at fifty fifty seven points in the first half the season that it feels like a glass. I think in a way if you look at the results before this games way they were always on edge there again where they were just about coming through very light winner. You've are weiner out of s for example that going behind much more often than previously remember they concedes remedies minute behind in the entire season. That's not happen more often. They're conceding early goals. They gonna seven games in a row conceding so it was the probably some point tip slightly now not into a full blown crisis but certainly into a situation where they were necessarily gonna mean sign that level incredible efficiency in winning games that they had up until fruitful weeks ago and coming up against a chelsea side. Don still unbeaten under to call but very very ordinary against hanson. Yeah just methodical. The hard sites watch chelsea they get. The job done. Didn't against that in the drawer but they were hard. Watch nothing. thomas tickle early on. I think he's testing these players. Think he's testing. Mentality is testing the players and different systems. Put the weekend. He lasted fifteen minutes and took stripe off again so he didn't work took off the ball put about so it's a chelsea sought while you won't you come on west off whereas the where's the attack and fled just very very methodical. Caffeine phoenix can tighten me. I can't imagine be free flowing ends and talking football full three job so don just call chelsea methodical and if you think of you don't feel like hey look at them they're open. They're attacking they're going to commit number full and so therefore if you have an athletic team that has been struggling to get results and you have a team. That is quote unquote methodical. Then yes you're exactly correct. This is not four three. this is set pieces. This is very tied very tactical certainly in the first leg in which is going gonna make it physical from. They have to get back to that. They've lost a little bit of that and they've lost a little bit of attention to details in the game against the weekend. Golda was not scored by motorists early on. There's the ball over the top from set piece attack and said piece of mind on a mis-clearance goes over fifty yards and morales one one situation against like that doesn't happen against atlantic city. But it's been happening more and more often over the last ten days or so they have to clean up those details and clean those details where you're going to find something that is going to be very very difficult to beat

Virtual 2021 Sundance Film Festival opens on a screen very near you

"City, Utah. And because of the pandemic, thousands of film lovers will go to premieres, panels and parties, mostly online. NPR's Mandali Del Barco has this preview. This year's Sundance opens with the premier of the documentary, Summer of Soul or when the Revolution could not be televised. Director Amir Thompson, known as the Musician. Quest, Love presents footage of the 1969 Harlem cultural Festival that has never been seen since. Pressure's lower. Take My hand was Dr King's favorite zone and Sistema Hey, you're Jackson was my idol. She was my hero. I love this. So much listening to singer Mavis Staples praising my Hayley and Jackson is just one highlight of the film. In a normal year. There'd be long lines of festivalgoers standing in the snow to get into theaters to watch. This year films will be screened virtually through especially built online platform, says the festival's new director, Tabatha Jackson. The global pandemic hit And we realized that we had to re imagine everything. Jackson says her team wanted to create a wafer, filmgoers and filmmakers to gather will be able to chat with each other in virtual waiting rooms. Then watch film premieres together before asking questions of the casts and crews, and that's to preserve the energy and the excitement on the buzz and the conversation. In that moment, as we are confined in our Safe spaces. This is an opportunity to go out into the world and be taken around the world by some of these films as an international festival dedicated to independent filmmaking, the Sundance Community prides itself on being a bit scrappy. We're excited. I think this feels like a grand experiment, so people who are they couldn't afford it or couldn't make the journey. Couldn't navigate the icy streets of Park City can now come to Sundance. We're bringing Sundance to them. This year, Half the films at Sundance were directed by people of color as well as by women. Many were shot or finished during the pandemic lockdown. There's even one titled In the same breath about how covert 19 began in Wuhan, China. Many of the doctors said these hospitals must have known this new virus was spreading between people, but they were afraid to say so for fear of punishment from the government. Among the feature films to watch for is Koda, about a hearing girl whose family is deaf, also sons of monarchs, about a Mexican biologist and flee and animated film about an Afghan refugee. Other highlights included documentary about choreographer Alvin Ailey and another about the life and career of actress Rita Moreno. Life can be pressing America what was different about Anita and with side stories that she was a girl who respected herself. Who had a certain amount of dignity. Actually, she became my role model. The festival will also include online panels, meetups concerts and parties, many of them free. There will be virtual spaces for black and Latin. Next creators, and Jackson says festival goers can participate in the new frontier program using Webcams or virtual reality headsets from home, you Congar! Oh, in as an avatar, you can wonder around this incredible space garden. Go to parties, which are where people are going to gather to talk about films. We felt a cinema house in this virtual environment, and there's an extraordinary gallery off new work. The reason I'm so excited about it is because it really is an unusual space in which we can still come together and socialize, and it doesn't feel anything like Zoom. Sundance is also partner with art House cinemas around the country to present some in person events, including at drive in theaters. Manda Little Barco. NPR news.

PM: Sweden's health officials misjudged new infection wave

"Though sweden's covid cases dropped drastically over the summer the country head still become somewhat of an international pariah some of its closest allies the other nordic countries turn their backs on the swedish experiment. This swedes didn't think it was necessary to have strict border. Controls and the. Swedes didn't think it was necessary to institute lockdown and that basically forced all the other governments of their neighbors to close borders with sweden it went to the extend that norway actually deployed the army to the borders with sweden which is really unprepared to deploy the army to help guard the borders to prevent plumbers stein crossings. And that's pretty astonishing for that part of the world. I mean one official in finland told me that they don't see sweden as a black sheep but they think of sweden as a different sheep. You know in this a polite way of saying they are. They are no really doing what we think needs to be done. When did swedish officials realized that they weren't doing what needed to be done. Tober numbers started going up again in sweden especially in stockholm and i think by november. They had a pretty pretty steep rise in infections. In hospitals started filling up again and the more started swelling. I spoke to the head of the stockholm hospitals for my article and he was very very worried. He you know. Swedes are pretty low. Key in the use of active but he said it was a very very serious situation. He said that hospitals were filling up. He said that people were dying. At an increasing rate. And he said that the growth was still at a level which was not really sustainable. The streets of sweden's capital or quiet. A second wave of covert is sweeping through stockholm. It didn't escape as authorities predicted. It would so in november. The swedish government changed course implementing restrictions. The rest of europe has had in place for months in a rare televised speech. Prime minister stephan lovin addressed. The people of sweden say on auto would some he basically said uh little. We got this. Summer and autumn is truly over people's health and lives are still endanger the dangerous increasing then the prefix undersold moreno hurston evac ed november man. This'll hell sodhi if food fall on the fodder forum burqa. He asked people to stay at home. He asked people to not engage in interactions. If there are necessary in order to reduce the spread of the virus and he served painted a very very bleak picture of the reality of swin new job. You dad two summers. I what they now have is a ban on all gatherings of eighth people in public. Which essentially meant that cinemas theatres and other such venues had to close down. Many of them did and they also banned sales of alcohol after ten o'clock so that means bars. We'll have to close around ten o'clock. What has dr technol- and the health said about these measures. Well that's interesting. you see. The measures the restrictive measures at the end of november were announced by the government not by the healthcare agency and when you go on their website and when you read their guidelines they explain outline the guidelines and then they say it was political bodies that made these decisions so i think there is a sense. That healthcare agency has been Overridden by the politician's a little bit because that restriction to ban gatherings of over eight people was not something they proposed initially but swedish health officials are still going against scientific consensus in another way. They're actively discouraging. The use of masks in public spaces homes. Nobody wears a mask except for individuals. Who want to to this very day. The public health agency and dr technol- chief epidemiologist are advising against wearing masks. Their rationale is if you wear a mask. You may not stick the social distancing rules and that's dangerous because the mosque not protect you. And the social distancing will so it's better to keep your distance you stay away from a person in a public space rather than you wear masks and you come close to them. What do all of these new measures mean for the swedish economy. The overall swedish economy is not doing great this year like everyone else. I mean the estimates of the central bank are that by early next year. Unemployment will go up to ten percent. That's quite a lot for sweden. So you know. The swedish economy is not doing well by any measure and certainly not doing better than comparable countries that did have lockdowns especially not in the neighborhood. If you look at norway finland and denmark. They are not doing worse than sweden. Why do you think the swedish experiment failed. And what do you think it says about balancing personal freedoms with health it's important to preserve freedom and keep the economy going. But you have to have a plan. You have to have targeted measures. Then you have to keep a handle on the virus and think. Sweden failed to do that. Sweden failed to institute the initial serve circuit breaker lockdown in the beginning then twin failed to really improve. Its contact tracing in testing systems. And they didn't really device targeted measures. That would be able to keep this disease in check. And ultimately there is no actual zero-some game in terms of either you be virus or be economy. I think when you let the virus run amok economy will crash. There is no example whatsoever that i can think of and i've been reporting about this for ten months now over country that let the virus loose and savings economy. That just didn't happen anywhere in the world.

"Allie moreno joins us alley weeping harsh real madrid and rightly so but they pulled a performance. I when it was needed today yet. They did and even before the red card happened. I thought that the we're far better than inter Deploying to where you just saw full control through the with grows and moderate and then look at rutgers helping defensively other guards serving us to link and even have to sometimes drifting inside and you just saw team that was fooling controlled through the middle area of the field in doing that Enter just been having sort of said. They didn't have any sort of connection to martinez or luke outcome for a long time in the first half even at breda to read you read build the momentum building momentum really caring the procession really carrying the pace of the game and enter was merely reacting to that. Wasn't there a little bit of life early on in the second half and that was about it appear team and they were the two point here. And what was wrong with said today vega question. Obviously it was not enough to put real madrid in into any danger and The control the game from the beginning on after the the red card of and Yacht it they look the whole game like the the certain winner. "His fighting style has strength. Look everything we do. You think that this guy is is as special as everyone is saying that he is or do you think. He's a lot of hype. What do you think he's a special. You know i mean. I know i can be that this guy. You know i'm the real contender of this division. You know. I don't know why bigger spurs for the title. I but now have the opportunity to shock the world. You know. I know. I know he's explosive. Blobs man i was. We'll see we'll see the five you know every single people around the world. I would say something about my fight you know. For example about oscar. They say something like she's amazing. Run moreno will lee cheuk out from all the world and then kaikoura striking for megan missing bustling u2. But i want every single of those fights so we'll see what happens in december twelfth. I don't wanna revisit. The whole cody garbrandt. Getting a title shot. And then picking alex prez over you because it's now old news but one thing that i want to ask you about that. You didn't really address in the bill because it was clear you were upset that they chose garbrandt over you and then of course. You're scheduled to fight outs president. They chose a peres over you which kind of blew my mind if i'm being honest. But here's the one part that hasn't been talked about. Both you and outs peres are represented by the manager jason house and so you say that you don't understand why they picked him over you shirley you know the guy who cut the deal. So did you have a discussion with him like hey why did they pick your klein over me. Why didn't they go with me. I was the guy with the more impressive wins. I mean you have the insight there right. I mean he represents both of you yes i mean. I was very much in the moment with everybody. You know i'm i'm very serious. I never tried to make some in opposing instagram. Or something like that book. I was very mad. I i was very confused on with jason and she say the company told the decision to get to take a pilot. I even right now. I can understand what happened. When i dunno meek main unaware thoughts about the next if cy with a pile of but know because make everything perfect with me. Since i'm i'm starting to work with him so i have all my confidence with with within right now so wes and i'm ready right now. Okay when you were initially released by the ufc. And i believe two thousand eighteen. If i told that guy two years later two and a half years later you'd be fighting for a ufc title. Would you believe me. Man dot was the gold. You know. I mean obviously if you talk with me in that moment i was very sad and say something like men..

Turning Your Passion Into Sustainable Work with Zachariah Moreno

"Hello welcome to go bam good morning. We're actually doing this during coffee. Time my favorite time of day. Thank you for having me. Thank you for coming on so zach. Tell us who you are. What's your heritage where you come from. I'm a mexican. American here in california oakland more specifically from the central valley of california grew up can actually west sacramento. You know went to school. They're pretty normal. Giant mexican family in california and Always had a love for creativity and art and different forms of expressing the that creativity so throughout my journey. That has come to life in a couple of different. Mediums started in kind of ink on paper transition to acrylic on canvas. art shows. Some awards wanted to do that professionally struggled to find a way to actually passion into sustainable work. Glad i saw that problem as early as i did. But then you know it always had an affinity for technology because of my my father's background been privileged to To be exposed to some technology pretty pretty early on and then i realized i could combine those two things together and make artwork and creativity with technology with squad. Cast is kind of the most recent body of that and that's actually another level of helping others be creative and connect and be creative with each other with their guests to record podcast interviews. That sound awesome from anywhere in the world. They do okay. So we're gonna pack all that story because this is what we do. So you're mexican american. Are you first generation. Second third generation. Right hey do how is that. I'm i yeah. I've actually thought about you know. My grandparents were barely born in the united states. A believe their family crossed the border into texas when they were like. I think my grandpa was actually. My grandmother was actually pregnant with him. when she came to america and i believe my grandma was a little girl when they crossed over into texas so work their way over to california and my grandpa was very fortunate to have an uncle who owned some farmland essentially in in the central valley here in in yolo county. They were farmworkers. The added bonus that he had is that his uncle rufus. I've never really gotten this full story. But he was able to own his own farm so he of course worked with farmworkers. They were out there in the field with them every day. My grandma grandpa learned to drive was he was super young was driving people back and forth from the fields and he's got gnarly scars all over his legs from like being out in in the different agricultural environments and walking around out there all day you know really exposed to that lifestyle and then became a sheriff's officer and later most of his career. He was a one of the best saw filers on the west coast. That's not a job really anymore. What is it at the time. These giant lumber companies would need these giant saw blades to take the raw number that they would bring in kind of millet down into usable lumber. So my grandpa started out in the yard stacking green lumber which is full of water. So it's incredibly woods heavy anyway but when it's fresh like that it's incredibly heavy so i'm sure he was pretty ripped back then he still is. He's in his nineties now. He's my favorite person and worked his way up to I guess it's kind of an apprentice situation where studied under somebody. He can take a piece of metal and make a giant saab laid out of it and Make that saw blade last for a very long time. And i guess there's very few people who can do that. He was very skilled skilled craftsman still to this day. Does a lot of woodworking and he's ninety nine only has he taught you how to make a late. He's taught me like on paper and shown me. He has a workshop that i helped build and we built in his backyard woodworking shop. And so does my dad. So this is what i mean about like creativity and craftsmanship. I think it goes very deep like my grandpa's. He's not a like a graphic artist. He's a very skilled technical drawing kind of pre autocad so he was What i would say is the first generation and my grandma you know to. That's how they match. She was one of the farm workers on his uncle's farm.

S. because see yes of course is is becoming much more of a we said this for the last five years but is becoming much more of a vehicle contact knowledge G. show as much as it is consumer electronics those consumer electronics and now a lot of those ideas a found inside vehicles and you guys have some displays that what we did and no harm I did not have a booth per se but this is an excellent example of how our platform is being used by tech companies again to demonstrate and showcased their technologies so our Rivero G. key and R.
