Experiencing the Mystery of Christian Faith With Stephen Strang

"Talking to Stephen strang, founder of charisma magazine, who has a new book out called spirit led living in an upside down world, and I'm glad Stephen that we're talking about this because as I just said, we went to the break so many people, they have a very bleached kind of desiccated intellectualized, rationalistic view of the Christian faith. They don't understand that there's mystery that there is the life of the Holy Spirit. They've not experienced that. Maybe they've not experienced miracles or they've only seen weird people experience that. But you and I know that this is God's will for us as Christians. Absolutely. My book is practical, it's experiential. It is not really theological, although I will stand behind the theology. You know, I'm a journalist. I'm not a theologian. I'm not never been a pastor. But I've lived a long time now, and I've seen God work. I've had my own set of problems and trials. I've had to reach out to God. I've had to get victory over things. I've had to believe God, you mentioned charisma magazine. It's just started as a dream. I had to believe it into existence in a way. The gift of faith, I write a light in there about Kenneth Copeland and we call him papa Hagan. And I interview a lot of people. I interviewed Catherine Coleman back in the day, but that's amazing. You must have just been a kid. Seriously, that's quite a while ago. It was. And I think I did the last. I did it for the Orlando sentinel where I worked at the time. Can you believe a secular paper sent me to cover a Catherine Coleman rally? She was a big, big cultural figure, I know, become friends with Mario Morello. He was telling me stories about her. And you know, she obviously lived into the 1970s, but still I interviewed her about 9 months before she died. And I think it was probably the last major interview she had before she died.

Over 800 incidents of in flight violence were reported nationwide last year, even with a $37,000 zero tolerance FAA fine for violation. Also seek help from the airline crew if you can solve it yourself. Finally, remember between the lowered cabin pressure, lower oxygen levels and drier air, alcohol has a much stronger effect. Another thing that the COVID pandemic started and now is ending additional federal snap benefits are now over some 700,000 people in Maryland alone are affected. Now the Maryland food bank is bracing to fill the possible gap. The course of the last year was the result of inflation as well as COVID. We're seeing more and more faces for the first time. Maryland food bank CEO Carmen del guacho now expects to see even more people after they increase federal food assistance ends. What we're hearing is that family is going to lose upwards of a $100 a month. Food bank and they're over 300 partners are hoping to fill that gap from any families. In the meantime, they're also focusing on working with legislators to address root causes of hunger. The left lanes remain blocked on 95 south at one 75, southbound bailout on route one and two 95. And on the BW Parkway, south of the capital beltway, another car taking off in the trees on the left side. This one did not catch fire, but the response blocks, the left lane of the Parkway, just south of four 95, two 70 between the spur and county line, volume delays, but no major incidents on the capitol beltway through Maryland and Virginia, this is definitely the slowest rush hour of the week so far. Especially in fairfax county heading for the big bridges, always expecting more fender benders and breakdowns, whatever traffic is just packed. Again, no major incidents on four 95. 95 southbound routine volume delays toward woodbridge, but it's getting slower out of Quantico, caller finding the new crash before 6 ten on the main line, two cars colliding in the center of the main lanes, fire rescue arriving on scene. And you're going to be getting by to the left single file southbound on 95 past this initial rescue response in the district, very slow going. On three 95, 6 95 and two 95 near the end of Costa river bridges. And on the downtown grid, again, lots of folks driving this afternoon, given the warmer weather. We had a crash on 6th street, northwest, near New York avenue. We had a tour bus crash in northwest northbound 16th street after Arkansas avenue that one's clear at least. It sounds great up front, but if you ask people who living in Venezuela right now, they'll tell you, it started off great at first, but once the government had all the power, it went downhill from there. And now they're all fleeing and trying to come to the United States because they've got nothing in Venezuela anymore. And it's happened all over the world. There's never been a successful socialism story. And I'll say this to before we finish up. I mean, I think that's exactly right, and it's so funny. You mentioned too. "And just listen to them. Instead of lying to us and slapping us across the face, you might as well just do that. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, well, people sadly this country is going to wake up when it's too late. And I think that's what we're up against right now. You know, a lot of us, a lot of us are misrepresented and called conspiracy theorists because they want to silence our message because our messaging is factually accurate. And the other side just isn't. So I don't see any type of short term solution to helping fix this problem, because I think most Americans like how comfortable life is right now. And in order to accept the reality of what the direction of this country is heading in, you have to accept the fact that this country is not the country that you kind of envisioned it to be. I think people are very comfortable. And I think that in order to accept what direction we're heading into, you have to get uncomfortable. And we have to have these uncomfortable conversations about how democracy is not real democracy and how freedom of speech is not freedom of speech anymore. And most people don't want to corrupt that idea that they have of our country in their mind. So until people start getting shooken up a little bit, it's not going to stop. I think the two sad things are, you know, the fact that we can't have conversations with each other anymore and debate anything because that's like not allowed, right? If you disagree on anything, it's my God you were racist or whatever it may be. And then the second side is we've completely lost this idea of having a sense of pride in who you are. And you know, it doesn't, that doesn't mean money, by the way. Being prideful as a parent, having pride in what your career is. It doesn't matter if you make a $1 million a year, you make $50,000 a year.

"And The White House asked about this yesterday and it didn't have a plan. All this is going to do is it's going to rise up tuition costs up because now it's more money that's being thrown into education because now everyone else, okay, $10,000 is going to get wiped away from my debts. So now they're going to up the cost of Twitch and you know they get more from you. It's insane. And I also went to a Sunni school as well. I went to SUNY brockport and yeah, I mean, you can tell where this situation is going. And again, the cost of school, the cost of room and board, it's really not cheap and kids can go to a community college and spend one tenth of the money. And again, like you said, the biggest thing we all know this in most jobs, including jobs like, you know, engineers and stuff, your experience will tell the story. Your degree that you get. Now, certain things like an engineer, I guess, or a doctor is important to go to school and learn that stuff. But in careers like you have like I have, it's the experience of meeting with people and dealing with people. That's the most important thing when you're really thinking about, how do I be successful? That's what it is. Yeah. And Mike, how many of your classmates did you go to school with where they took on extra money in student loans so they could buy cool gear and have some extra drinking money on the weekends? They didn't have to work. I mean, I literally, I had one to remain in college who got so much in like pell grants. I got so much on other stuff that she was actually making money off of going to college. And so that extra money was being kicked back to her family. I mean, it is insane to think that these people are still in the worst part in all of us too. The student loan forgiveness that they're doing the cancellation of student debt is if you've received pell grants through your time in college, which is free money from the government. It's not free money for the government, but it's free money for the individual. You can also, instead of being 10,000, maybe a $20,000 student loans written off. I mean, how much more are you going to get right now?

"To have that, whether you own a car, you own a house, you have credit cards, you may have that, you got to know how to get out of that and instead we teach kids about like 17,000 genders and what critical race areas to me, it's just very backwards in our society. Yeah, yeah it is. You know, it's funny because when I got down here back in 2019, the Florida public school system really wasn't one that I would use as an example for the rest of the country. But it has since become an example for the rest of the country now that we're requiring financial courses like that. You know, governor Santa has done a great job getting rid of all those core math classes and all that nonsense. So that's the only way you save America is based on education. But as we know the left likes to infiltrate public schools and target these kids when they're young, so they make them all feel like they're victims, like you've been a victim of some mass conspiracy that's been put up against you and there's no way to overcome it besides voting for extremes like socialism and all those other things. You know, this brings us extremely close to socialism when the government's paying off these massive debts. But I also think it's interesting when this announcement comes out when we're also announcing that the federal government announced that they plan on giving an extra $3 trillion to Ukraine to help fund their war against Russia. There's nothing to do with the United States, but for some reason we're so financially deeply invested into it. That something like that gets dropped and this is, you know, where the news experience comes because a lot of times when you want something get buried, this is what you do. You create something more outrageous than what else you've already done so that it kind of gets drowned out. So we're not talking about the $3 trillion of our nation is wasting in addition to everything else on Ukraine. We're kind of burying that with a student loan argument. And it's all intentional, you know, another tip I'd give your audience is when you are looking at the news cycle and trying to decipher what to believe or anything of that nature. The best data to make sure you pay attention to the news is actually on Fridays and Friday afternoons because a lot of times we always say that when somebody wants a berry something and then you cycle, but you have to release it. You release on a Friday afternoon because most people are heading up to their weekends or not paying attention to any of these news outlets. And then the weekend news outlets, they're not prepared to cover most of these stories when they're really big. So there's a lot of deception involved in all of this. And it's well orchestrated, but you got to be able to kind of sift through all of them figure it out on your own and figure out what the media is actually doing. And let me keep going on those numbers because I think you bring up a good point that I'm going to go back to the media in a second. If we just do some math for a second and ballpark figures, what was it two or 3 trillion on COVID? Three years ago, two years ago, right?

"We're talking about the vaccine and COVID right now. You see what is going on with the government and politicians are never held accountable for anything that they do. And they should be. And both right and left, by the way, right? Yeah. I'll bring up a Mitch McConnell. I'll bring up Kevin McCarthy at times. These guys are not helping their constituents, right? The AOCs of the world, Joe Biden's the world. They're not helping anybody. Every decision they make is making it worse and worse and worse for most Americans. Look what we just saw this week with the student loan forgiveness. That's not helping anybody. We all know that. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's short term, right? So it's how do we get through the November elections? It makes sense from the short term aspect. You know, so many people, my Twitter page are so angry because obviously I have a heavy conservative audience. And I'm not telling you that student loans should be paid because I definitely don't think that the government should be paying off student loans, but I also think the federal government should have any involvement in student loan in this student owned business. We saw once they got involved, we saw the tuition cost skyrocketed because now everyone has all these endless funds to go to college and these schools are completely taking advantage of it. My point was simple there that I made on Twitter I know I outright in a whole bunch of meatball because conservatives sometimes they get easily triggered when it comes to things like this, but some people are really upset because I said, you know, when I first got out of college, I had 2°. I'm associates, and I have a bachelor community communications and science communications. So both are pretty much journalism. When I got out of college with my 2°, went into the workforce, my first job offer was with Major League Baseball, and I didn't take this one job, but it first offers for $30,000. And it requires a bachelor's degree.

"So it was just all very bizarre. It was very obvious to me that they were coming for me and they were coming to either fire me or put me on unpaid leave, and so I no longer had any aspirations to work for a company that was so fraudulent in front of the audience. But I was just going to say the blaze did a report. They did a foil request and through that foil request they found out that Fox News max CNN, MSNBC, the New York Post, all these publications took money from the Biden administration to promote the vaccine and in return, they promoted the vaccine. I know that negative commentary was completely already type of negative publicity was rejected because Peter Navarro came on to one of my pre tape shows and gave some negative criticism about the vaccine. And what's even criticism, it was him telling, you know, younger people not to get vaccinated because it's not, it's not worth it. It's not worth the risk. Since they're young and healthy, you'd be fine if you caught the virus. Common sense would say, yes, that's true. Fox ended up editing that out. Peter Navarro emailed me because he knew that happens. And I was on a book to him and somebody addressed it with me. But it was just one of the many examples as to the information being filtered. And you couldn't say what you wanted to say, you couldn't give the facts that you wanted to give. It's the complete opposite of journalism and what any of us actually commit to when we do decide to become journalists and work in news media. I can't believe, honestly, we're still talking about this. This whole vaccine, the whole testing out of things. I mean, you look at even in pro sports, people get coronavirus, and then they have to sit for like ten days. What is going? I've said this a lot to a lot of my inner circle. Am I missing something? Is there something wrong with me? Am I am I aloof from what I've seen over the last two and a half years? You just said it. Young people don't die from this virus. They have a 99.998 or whatever it is percent chance of living people under the age of like 40. You know, more people are having vaccine related issues than they are COVID related issues at this point. You know, we know that shutdowns don't work. The statistics show that they never worked. The masks don't work.

"Special guest today. I'm going to read the title so I don't screw this up. We have Brianna Morello with us. Former Fox News corporation producer, senior producer for emerald Robinson, independent journalist, and a former newsmax producer that I hit all those right? Yeah, yeah, you did, you did. All right, perfect. First off, thanks for joining us. We look forward to talking to you today. I do want you to give a little background on your career so far. So our listeners know what you've done where you've been and that we can jump into each of those places. Perfect. Yeah, so I initially started off in the sports world. I started off over at media league baseball for a bit. Did some freelance reporting here and there also did some production work as well. Jumped over to ESPN for a little bit after there was like a little bit of a purchase of Major League Baseball by Disney. So I kind of split off one of my separate ways with them as well. And then I decided it was time to leave the sports world and enter the news industry. So I went over to Fox corp in about 20 19, I'd say. So I worked for both Fox News and Fox business. They're all the same company. And then I ended up leaving New York moving down to South Florida where I worked at two local news stations as a producer. And I also run over to newsmax as well. And I did production work for them as well for one of their new shows. And then I jumped back over to Fox and I worked remotely for Fox business in South Florida and then I ended up in December of 2021. Relocating back to New York. For a gig until something very shady happened. I'm only shaking my head. I'm going to get to that in a second. I'm only shaking my head because obviously you know I've told you I'm from New York and anytime you can move from New York and get back down to sunny Florida. That's the place to be. And you made a good choice there that he came back to New York. So talk to me a little bit about Fox News and what happened there because I think it's important to note obviously there's a message on that station I watch a lot of that stage and I'll be the first to admit, but there's a certain message on that station and certain things didn't shake out that way it seems for you. Yes, I'd work there back in 2019 like I mentioned. I was working in technical side that I was not working in the production side, although I was training as a producer with a bunch of the producers. I was not, I didn't have a job lineup just so I represent this properly. I have a job lined up, but you know, they call it shadowing where before your shift starts, if you want to potentially learn different position because they're not union, you could just go into the office and follow along with the production team as long as they give you permission.

"Wrote a bones. That's not overnight in moscow in walking in red square and obviously the associated. Dan for a couple of weeks so talk to me about traveling deep burn versus checking the box. Yeah so that's always a point of contention with people right. Travel deeper travel quicker For me it was more of a function of. I'm here working in. Let's say ethiopia for example. Can i visit someplace for a long weekend. And i think i actually went to south sudan from addis on and so while i'd love to travel deeper longer kinda like i'm doing now sometimes. It's just not practical. Especially when i was still working so i just you know some in some cases i would just make do with if if it's a long weekend or short weekend or something like that and that's all i can do. Fine but let preference is usually have deeper more meaningful experience by traveling longer. So in in the case of south sudan i went. I really wanted to see them. Dari but i didn't wanna go for five or six days ahead. Limited time for me to get back to the opening airlines and so i flew to spent the night in juba and then i worked at out to do a day trip very long day. Trip go up early in the morning spent some time with dari and and then comeback to spend another night juba for leaving And i was hoping that would be the best of both worlds but it was okay but it was just a lot a lot of money for for Experience i got out of it was it was only okay And then some friends said they were going to south sudan to visit seven tribes over roughly two weeks and I'd seen some pictures of what we know. Peng accent his Pictures yeah so. I believe this is the trip. That baba's beezus in pong both former guest of counting countries went on. Yes exactly great. I'm never coming back. I always have something. I wanna come back and do so a mentally. I knew i wanted to come back and spend more time. With the tribes. Not just the day so this was perfect. I mean this is you know i'm not working. I have time in you know friends and vitamin Yeah i really was interested in spending more time with the tribes and saint participating in their daily life and getting some good pictures of course so is a great opportunity to to to do more. But yeah i've done both types of trips and i can understand both points of view. Not everyone has the luxury of our the choice to to take weeks off of work for for travel and some people aren't really that interested. They're happy with the Buffet style of travel.
