Police say they're looking for multiple suspects. Keep it here on WTOP, the top stories in the head. Traffic and weather on the 8th. Let's go to Rich in the WTOP Traffic Center. Alright, new crash in Fairfax County. It's going to be in the intersection, right in the intersection at Braddock Road and Backlick Road. On Braddock Road you get by by staying to the right each way. Looks like the same on Backlick Road as well. be So extra careful approaching. You've got Fairfax County Police and Fire Rescue on scene. Looks like they found a northbound crash on 395 just before you get to the 14th Street Bridge. It's along the left side. you're So squeezing by to the right. So again be very careful approaching. There's a delay building up behind that. So they may have more than one lane closed there. That's where the lanes kind of come together for folks coming off the Boundary Channel and folks who are trying to get into the district and continue across the 14th Street Bridge. So be extra careful there as a result. Now if you're traveling on 95 North in Virginia, as you approach and pass, you have 17 Falmouth works and set up along the left side. Stay right to get by. Looks like they're going to eventually take it down to a single right lane. Unclear if they've already done it. There's already a lot of volume there that works and not helping. So again, a combination of Route 1 and Centerport Parkway puts you back on 95 beyond the work zone and any associated delay. Rest your trip up toward the Beltway in Springfield much better. 66 Eastbound inside the Beltway just as you pass over Route 7, single file left past the construction there. Rich Hunter, W traffic. Traffic and weather on the 8s and when it breaks, and let's get back to bob emler and the traffic center. Well, southbound three 95, getting slow past seminary road, the block in the right lane, getting down to duke street. They may take more than one lane though by the time they're finished, they may in fact have it down to a single lane to the left, getting to duke street once they set up all the barrels. Now 95 south and woodbridge, they are working on the left side tonight are just now setting it up, beginning near route one 23. And don't know if they're going to take that down to a single lane or not. For now, two right lanes are getting by, but inner loop, that is heavy and slow before one 23, getting past the work zone that extends from the dulles toll road toward Georgetown pike single right lane is getting by that works on waiting to see if they set up on the outer loop coming down past Georgetown pike as well, which they tend to do both ways. On 66 westbound after the runs on tunnel and before glee rode single left lane is getting by road work and on New York avenue, both ways of bladensburg road down to a single lane getting by to the left, both directions of bladensburg road tonight by road work. In Maryland, interlude bell while you hung up pretty badly beginning after colesville road, heavy and slow into the works on starting a New Hampshire avenue, headed past 95, you're down to a single lane to the right getting by, 50 out to the bay bridge is good to go, southbound Baltimore, Washington Parkway. All right, it's still a little slower than usual on 66 westbound headed west to nutly street where the incident involving a tractor trailer is on the right shoulder talked with Virginia state police. He also confirmed the two crashes they had 66 found one near, the Prince William Parkway exit 44, and then there were actually three separate crashes just after exit 47. You've been squeezing by single file right there. It did say they have two trucks on sand they are loading up so hopefully they're going to get more than one lane getting a buy here very soon. They are working on that at the moment. Three 95 north on the vehicles involved in that crash just before duke street, tow truck has towed them away at a V dot at the safety service truck just has to pick up his cones, and they should have all lanes open momentarily. George Washington Parkway southbound south to the beltway near turkey run. Did have traffic stopped as a result of a crash, haven't heard from anyone at the front of the line. "Violations. We just don't know, but we will learn later today. Washington Post, Justice Department reporter Perry Stein, thanks so much for your time. Back over to Rita Kessler in the WTO traffic center. Well, things have really escalated on the beltway. We've got delays everywhere. Let's start out in Virginia on the inner loop of the beltway the delays begin near two 36 in annandale headed toward 66 with the wreck on the right side. Now there are also been a work crew along the left side. The wreck is on the left side as well. So it had been a single right lane getting you by at one point you may have more than one lane getting you by right now. Then on the inner loop delays are after the American legion bridge had it all the way toward the split with the two 70 spur, near the Bradley boulevard overpass and before the split with the spur, is the cleaning up a bus fire. The bus fire has been extinguished, but everything is on the right side. You're going to find outer loop delays after all Georgetown road and off the spur headed past this incident, then your delays on the outer loop before the American legion bridge headed toward Georgetown pike. That's the work in the right lane. Continuing in Maryland, you're inner loop delay from university boulevard toward New Hampshire avenue the work in the left lane. Outer loop slows approaching and passing the Baltimore Washington Parkway. It was after two O one kennel worth avenue. There had been some pothole repair going on on the right side, and on the Woodrow Wilson bridge this is an outer loop delay in the through and local lanes, but the problem is in the through lanes at the end of the bridge along the right side. "Especially when you're looking at this type of application. We wanted to make it extremely private, extremely secure, easy to use, brandable. And at the end of the day, a delight for the customer. So, you know, it seems to me when I hear this, there's several audiences you have to talk to sort of all at once. There are the people that need to sell the product. There are there's the administrative group or a team that needs to say, hey, that's a product or service we want to use. There is the actual healthcare practitioners who are going to use it, and of course the patient. So let's dive into that a little bit more, but I'm going to start with the channel. And with the thought that, you know, here we have this giant opportunity arise with the rise of telehealth, we also weaver issues so people were running around using Zoom and or teams and maybe possibly not complying really with HIPAA. Now they're facing the issue again. So starting with our channel readers, is this easy to sell? Yeah. Well, that's the whole that's the whole goal of this is to make it so you get them something to think about. When many of those in the channel have found their lanes because they know it's around specialization, you've heard I'm sure you've heard the term niches and riches, riches and niches, even though we'll say niche, I guess sounds a little more a little more fancy. But it's about specialization. So those partners that are widely successful today have done that. They may pick more than one lane, but they're going to pick their lanes and they're going to double down on that. That's what we're doing is we're going to be one of those tools looking for those partners that are specifically looking to serve that community and give them quite frankly what I would argue to be the best tool for that particular purpose. Craig, let's dive into product for just a moment and I want to start with the experience but feel free to talk about how the product creates experience because Greg just basically said and you said earlier also, although you're dealing with people that have maybe ten or 15 years of higher education under their belt with a medical degree and a special degree after that and so on, they may not be the best, the most adapted basically using some of the technology products a lot of other people are familiar with. So what's the experience of the actual user? What's the nearest or physician that's actually doing the session? What does that look like? What does that feel like? Well, I think that's a great place to kind of enter the class. On this question, particularly the silver filling of providers, yeah, there's a couple of angles to look at. But one thing we learned very quickly is providers don't care about features, providers care about people. They care about their patient experience..

Seattle's Morning News with Dave Ross
When will the West Seattle Bridge be fixed, and how much will it cost?
"Has been nearly a year since the West Seattle Bridge closed down because of the cracking concrete, and now we're getting some prediction on when it might be open again. Here's Chris Sullivan, and that prediction is the end of June 2022 that is the target goal for returning traffic to the West Seattle Bridge, But that's about a space Civic is the city can be. I would like to be very, very specific about the time and date when you will be able to drive across the bridge. I cannot give that to you today that Seattle's mobility director, Heather Marks, who also also cautions West Seattle residents that include herself that even when the repairs are complete, that doesn't necessarily mean the traffic is going to immediately return. This is not a repair where we're just going to drop tools when we're done and open up the bridge, too. Traffic. We want to make sure that this is safe and we want to be able to measure and see how the bridge and the repairs respond to additional live load. Drivers should expect that the lanes to will open little by little over the days and weeks after repairs are complete, primarily just for safety and to prevent backups. We also need to think about how to create the conditions under which when we open up that first lane Everybody doesn't you know, heard to the bridge and we have backups from follow. Right, Fareed I five. So we need to think about that to the city has reached the 30% design Fresh Holden milestone on this project, and the request for bids went public yesterday. It's gonna be an interesting partnership. The way that they're doing. This is that they're bringing the contractor on board at this point. That will allow the contractor the winning contractor to work with the city on final design, from 30% completion to the end that allows them to see any potential problems and design as they're doing it that also helps speed up the process. It's expected that the repairs we will begin in November, repairs to the lower Spokane Street Bridge or also included in this contract that needs a little shoring up works and cracked filling, and it also might need some repair to the center locking mechanism. Mark says. It is possible that there will be times when both the high and the low bridge will be closed the same time, But she expects those to be brief. To the extent that we have to close the low bridge. We're gonna aim for weekends or holiday weekends to make sure that we're disrupt. Thing as few people as possible. Now, Speaking of that low bridge discussions are ongoing about how to allow more access to that lower bridge on call. Medical workers have been added to the list of people who can use that bridge while racing to the hospital. But they end up getting it a photo enforcement ticket and then have to prove they were an emergency call to get that wiped away. Not really the most efficient way to do things. Seattle police have told me that automated photo enforcement issued more than 7500 tickets in the 1st 15 days of February. That's just a two week period. But since then, and more the word has gotten out. The city says that more than 2000 fewer vehicles a day are now using that bridge, which means okay, maybe we have a little extra capacity. And there's a big push right now to allow people who need life saving medical care like chemotherapy or dialysis to use the bridge, but The problem is Terminal five, is going to reopen for business on Harbor Island next year. And so the city is worried that if they allow more access now, they'll have to take it away later and they don't want to do that. They don't want to carry that. Briscoe start opening a lot more. We'll be exactly because they're going to see significant amount of freight traffic. And because of that, they're going to see the capacity go away. As for the money, the dollar figures in all of this $175 million is the budget. That covers the repairs to the West Seattle Bridge. The lower Spokane Street Bridge also includes the money already spent for the showing process, traffic mitigation improvements being made in West Seattle. The monitoring work city already has about 124 million of that, and it's aggressively looking for Mawr's, according to Sam, Zimbabwe, the head of the Transportation Department. We're moving are a lot of different paths forward. We don't project that funding is going to be the challenge that Holds us up in this, but we still have some some fresh holds across and make sure that we have the resources needed to bring this resource back online.

Airlines See Highest Number Of Passengers Since March. Who Is Flying?
"Joining us from ABC News. Watching the airports is watching the roads. He's watching the train tracks. Here's one thing with the T s a Is there like new technology out there that they're using? So passengers can have less contact with officers? Yeah, so a couple of things that they're doing one is that they are you know how many times you've got to the airport, and the line is a mile long, and they've got one lane open. Come on. Well, they're trying to open up all the lanes so that you don't have people bunching together. And so the African taken socially distance now hi tech wise, and they're going back to the administrator, David, because key he's Says, Yeah, they're trying all kinds of different things now and one of them being that when you go up and you hand them your ID that you don't actually have to do that to a human when you come up and you present your driver's license or your passport to the officer in many airports now that's more of an automated process. Where rather than handing off your driver's license or your passport. You just inserted into a machine yourself, and then you take it out yourself when that process is done, eh? So that's our effort to reduce contact. So that way you don't have to these days through a hole in the plexiglass handing your idea and they look at you and you know, you kind of go back and forth. They tell you take down your mask, and then they hand it back to you on then the other thing they're trying to do, and this will take a while. But Putting in new X ray machines where last these three d X ray machines less has to be taken out. She's gonna people touching all the bends and, you know, pulling their stuff out and doing all that were more like pre check. You can leave everything in and then you don't have that interaction. Hey, Alex, are any airlines mandating a covert tests before certain flights? Yes, Some are now United is doing it on some new work toe London flights more to make everybody feel better, Dad to get them going again. All the airlines are doing it if you're going The Hawaii because Hawaii mandates it. British Airways is going to begin doing it. The thing we also asked T s a. What about when there is a vaccine? Will the T s a require that if you're going to fly, you have to get it. And here's what he said. No, we don't require proof of a vaccine. Nor do we contemplated at this point in time, but we will always consider Things of that nature as we proceed, and that's been one of the lessons of covert 19 response and recovery. A Z. We've gotten smarter, collectively as a country through great medical advice. Great science. We've changed our procedures and the reason why we asked him that is, Qantas says that it is going to require that the wind there is a vaccine Quanis in Australia that if you want to fly them, you're gonna have to say Here's my my proof of vaccine. That might not be a bad idea, Alex how much you're an anti vaccine, and then it's a they're not gonna like. Well, then you can't go toe. Why you're playing for Australia. You can't go to the Oh, Hey, Alex. Have a great Thanksgiving man. Take care of this is well haven't awesome Thanksgiving, right? Alex Stone, ABC news covering the

Latino Rebels Radio
Summoning the Courage to Change the Power Structure
"So. Gardner has welcome to Latino rebels radio. I. Thank you so much for having. So I have a lot to talk to you about and I know we are going to talk about covert and incarceration and health but. Obviously this week I think the entire nation was shook with what has happened in Minneapolis and I and I just wanted to get your thoughts about the death of George, Floyd or how? Trauma and how outrage actually? I WANT WANNA. Get your two takes like how you. How do you feel like looking being in a someone? This week in the middle of Pandemic when this is happening, but also just like the health implications of constant trauma, and I just had a really I'm from privilege, and I'm having problems with this, so I'm going to get your thoughts i. Yeah. We're in the same boat I. Today's my first day as President at Marguerite Casey Foundation. Got The right day. And I feel and. On. The one hand really devastated not only. Because of the murder of George. Floyd also because of the murder of Brianna Taylor, because I'm not of Tony mcdaid that. We are living in witnessing. Sort of the constant assassination of black people. By a state that does not value their lives and I'm really torn up about it I on the one side I feel. Like my sector, like philanthropy is often at the edges on not willing to be abolitionist, not willing to call on not only police accountability, imagining supporting organizers in leaders in our communities to imagine a world where detention and incarceration and policing aren't the only ways that we resolve the issues that we have with each other. and on the other side you know we really quickly as an institution, we put out. Six hundred thousand dollars to leading black led organizations in Tallahassee in Minneapolis. In Louisville. That are at the front lines, both of the abolition, the fight for abolition and and to try to address the issues that are happening today, and so the health consequences for all of our families for all of us is a extreme like. How can we imagine a different world a different future where being killed every day when brothers and sisters are being killed everyday when our aunts and uncles in MOMS and dads are held in detention and put into prison when our political leaders are. Corporate leaders are nonprofit leaders Fine the courage to actually step up and say we deserve better. Our families deserve better. Yeah, I'm devastated Julio. Frenk I I'm really glad you. I wanted to ask you that question and I. Really I really appreciate you like putting it in the context of what you do because I do think. In this world sometimes we're taught to you know. We can only stay in one lane, or and I think you know even me as a journalist like. I've struggled this week. And in the context of like Cohen teen in the context of what you wanted to talk about as well which I also think you know. It's funny because we just published on Friday. Three letters from migrant detainees inside of a immigration jail in Illinois. That, twenty, trans queer weblog reached out and we. We published their words. He's people are saying these conditions. You know I am worried I am. I'm not getting any help. I'm being dehumanized and we just decide well. These these letters came out so there's a risk because you're like they WANNA come out in public, but then when you come in public, it's like. It's a criminalized system. People are speaking out. Talk to me how this is interconnected in the in the work that you do because you're like the reason why we wanted to talk about what you're saying you. You mentioned abolitionist them. You've mentioned. Detention jails, and how this is how society is just not getting it especially now, especially during covert so. How do you begin to connect it all? Yeah, you know philanthropy is really weird, and on the one side I am clear that philanthropy isn't. Better of a functioning democracy and are robust and fare economy right that philanthropy exists mostly because he's our tax dollars that are not. That are awarded. And rich people, and then they're rich institutions get to be the arbiters of who is deserving of resources in a moment. What ideas are deserving of being lifted up? What leaders should be resourced, right? I. I I am clear that I'm like in A. that. I'm holding contradiction right that I believe in a functioning stage with the safety net that taxes are most. Wealthy at the benefit of all of us and I work at an institution that as as been created because of these failures and. I think that. Many of my peers in philanthropy have given up. The ability to actually contest for power to use these positions and the resources that we have Julio. We are one institution right? We have seven hundred over seven hundred million dollars in an endowment. That we get to us not only to try to supplant government or take the place of government, not only to create a band aid on the cancer that our communities are facing. We can use these resources to support leaders organizations to start to create evidence that our families can be more powerful to start to create evidence that our government can actually for us that it could be more responsive than it can look like us. That I can talk and feel like us. We can create evidence that our economy doesn't have to work only at the expense of our most vulnerable workers right. And many I think many of my peers don't see that

The Paul Finebaum Show
Proposed federal law seeks to limit skyrocketing salaries of college coaches
"Well anyway. I I call one of your stories. He's just week. We're talking about salaries and congress trying to put a cap on things and you. Did I think a an amazing. I don't know how you doug all this up. A deep dive live into the evolution of coaching salaries. Take us through that process. Yeah I one of the one of the most interesting thing about college. Football is how in twenty twenty I guess in our in our myopic nature point twenty we think that we all have these like little arguments novel discussion Russia. We've been doing this thing for one hundred fifty years at this point in time there are quite a bit of things that just are not new and some of that is complaining about too many bowl games but another one of those things is talking about how coaching salaries are way too high. I mean it's it's it has quite literally almost almost always been like this. I mean Amos Alonzo Stagg at Chicago making six thousand dollars in eighteen eighteen ninety two now I went back and use the consumer price report and price some of these salaries out in you know twenty eighteen at the time buying power. And you know. That's six thousand dollars. Amazon does stag was making then was worth like a hundred and sixty thousand dollars back in eighteen. Ninety two there has always been this separation between what highly paid college. Football coaches made Versus what the Common Man Colombian mix. You know I'll I'll bring it to your audience and hit them home like bear Bryant when he's doing. Brian show that that famous Sunday highlight show That that became formative so formative for a lot of Alabama fans. He wasn't doing that just out of the good report he was because he was getting paid there Bryan getting in pay. That's why I thought he. I thought you said he was a benevolent. So I believe you remember this because you weren't born but he also had to Eat the potato chips and drink cocoa which by the way had bourbon in it. Yes absolutely I mean like bear. Bryant was Bear Bryant was cheering the back right now. Yeah so I find it amazing we we. We had a professor on earlier who who was very much a part of the Donna? Shalala Team Wanting to limit coaching Ching salaries so When did they make the big turn? When did they start going? I mean as as some of the critics say out of control to me. It really doesn't matter what any of these guys make but TAKE A. When was the big turn? I think they really and truly exploded in the nineteen eighties because in the nineteen eighties. That's when that Supreme Court hate happened with like Georgia Oklahoma and you know they got. TV rights You know they divorced the TV rights from the NCAA and schools colleges then became able to go. She ate television rights As entertaining defended themselves. Obviously than we get into the CFO era and BCS. And what we have now where the SEC. Disperse what was it. Six hundred and fifty some odd the million dollars yesterday give or take a few million yeah To all fourteen member schools. I mean look. The bedrock of this cannot be overstated. The bedrock bedrock of this is this when you as an Athletic Department at Florida Alabama at Lsu is Florida state when you do not have to pay your labor force when you do not have to compensate you or athletes. That money has to go somewhere now. That money goes to beyond coaching salaries. I mean that's the facilities race that is everything. Everything that makes these college will programs at opulent as they can be obviously a really really big part of the PIE now. Is Coaching salaries. Now Coaching coaching salaries the early eighties. That's stuff starts to get reported. That's my really really starts coming into Coming into the sport in a way that it had really really before that By the time you get through the mid nineties Florida's paying Steve Spurrier the one of the first billion dollar contracts so that he doesn't jump to the NFL at that time honestly the NFL itself explodes. You've got that competition. So it's it's the competition that that spurs in any industry the street Salaries and money and will lose those things but the early eighties. I think is where we can really pinpoint when college athletics kind of started growing up from a from a fiscal standpoint talking to Richard Johnson from a better society in now we all know what is going on. I'm interested where were you. Were you sit on this. Because the the so called Donna. Shalala proposal We heard Professor Ridpath on this would would curtail a lot of things I find find. It somewhat amusing chancellors and presidents at Private Schools More so than public schools making. I'm five six million dollars a year We have an offensive and defensive coordinator is making major seven figure salaries I know is a highly paid journalists. Where we're we're are you on what Shola is is attempting to to do at least down one lane in Congress right. I think you have a good point. the the facilities boom and the salary boom of coaches collect directors and the things that we coach Sports Mirror. That of what we see on the institutional side at a lot of these verses and I think that is one thing thing that really gets lost you know like you said like g Foreign President of like West Virginia. Like these guys make guys and girls make six figures seven figures. There is a lot of money in higher education in the United States at the highest levels. college athletics is it is not an outlander But like studies have shown time and time again going back thirty forty fifty years that when your football all team is good when your basketball team is good It becomes you know they always say that is the front porch of the university. Admissions skyrocket when athletics. Do well and that is. Why a lot of these University of course than anything else I think? Put Up with and we'll pay out the nose for Nick Sabin or Jim Harbaugh or a Davos. We or whatever I think the dirty secret is is the weight from Ro a lot of these endowments in some of these very popular. Schools would shrink a lot more than people wanNA realize. No I mean just look around. I mean boone pickens. She died recently. I mean the the amount of money that he put into Oklahoma state and I don't I don't mean to disparage Oklahoma state in stillwater Oklahoma. Oh my been there. And if you haven't Richard Make sure that you put that on your bucket list. Wouldn't it wouldn't have had that type of money And and a lot of these Jerry Jones. He's given to the University of Arkansas. You can go down the list And I mean and it's because of one thing we're trying to win in in in college football or basketball depending on on on where you live and what part of the country you're in. Yeah absolutely I saw a stew. MANDL's works in the for pretty athletic. He He has a college pat column and somebody asked him Ten million dollars. What would you do with it to build a staff? And I look the question and I was like look man if you WANNA compete with Alabama Lsu Clemson Oklahoma Ohio state. You need more your salary. You Pool has to be bigger than ten million dollars. I mean on on its face. You'RE GONNA have to pay a coach at that level. Five five and a half six six billion dollars. You'RE GONNA have to pay your coordinators eight hundred nine hundred thousand dollars because Dave Aranda was was pulling such a salaried Lsu a few atmosphere necessarily because he was such town defensive coordinator which he is but it was because one opinions coordinator so that the only job job they'll leave for is a G. Five or or power five kids coaching job. It's got bulletproof coordinators. I WANNA lose them. I don't want to take collateral. If they leave me they gotta take step up so okay. You're paying both your coordinators Like one point eight billion dollars between the two. That's like eight million dollars. Just gone to the head coach in coordinators. Now you're in another like five million dollars higher director staff your eight assistant coaches which is all right. That's your ten assistant coaches You want to compete with Georgia Alabama. All right we'll have a party because you have to fill out the rest of those staffs with analysts. We assist tense You know you gotTa have a staff of three saw guys kind of the shadow. Coaching staff that that Alabama kind of those famous or infamous. No matter how how are depending on which by the fence you went on but You know it takes money to keep up with the Joneses and it takes a lot of line really want we national championship. Always great to have you on Richard other than chicken. What's the what's the second most favorite food that you'll be serving the super bowl party Sunday lady a friend is bringing some guacamole? She'll be homemade guacamole. I'm not a big block fan but you know you know how this you gotta try say like it. So that'll that'll it'll be my My side dish. I cannot wait I if I'm in the neighborhood I'll just drop Bil- bring some bring bring a some some fruit cake leftover from Christmas. I couldn't give away Gringa fruitcake. Brings some cold ones man. I'll have seat for you right on the couch next to meatball. Thank you great. Great to talk to you again come back soon. Have you

C.'s this week that the American people should know that every targets that we strike will be a lawful targets present trump has been diligent about that he doesn't want war he's talked about this repeatedly he is a reluctant participant in this but he will never shy away ABC news correspondent Karen Travers is with us from the White House good morning Karen the morning the rhetoric seems to be ratcheting up yeah and the president just a couple hours after Mike Pompeii did the big rounds in the Sunday political talk shows where he said that the US will behave lawfully with in the system he says that we always have and always will a couple hours later the president contradicted that doubling down on his threat to target a running in sites that have significance to that country culturally the president said to reporters on Air Force One last night they're allowed to kill our people they're allowed to torture and maim our people and we're not allowed to touch their cultural side it doesn't work that way well it does because the president's threat could be a potential international war crime and a violation of the Geneva convention that you don't cook target sites that have kept cultural significance is there any feeling or or word that hearing at the White House that there is some push back against this attack that the U. S. staged well this certainly push back from Democrats first just because of a process here Democrats say that the it ministration did not properly brief Congress and give that advanced warning ahead of time and that they should have done that and they have to consult with Congress under the war powers act has bigger Nancy Pelosi says that the house will vote this week to limit the president's authority to take military action against Iran she called that strike last week that took out Qassem Soleimani quote provocative and disproportionate Iraq's parliament yesterday voted in favor of a resolution calling for US troops to leave the country where does that stand well it's non binding but certainly if this is added another dimension to the challenges of the administration has in the Middle East the president yesterday told reporters that the US will demand Iraq pay back the money that the US has invested in that country through the U. S. military any threatened economic sanctions if troops are forced to withdraw if this is not done in a friendly way between US and Iraq it will make a runny and sanctions looks somewhat tame I mean the U. S. has spent billions of dollars of course in or rock rebuilding there but also just for the US military presence the bases and outposts that are there the president has always said he wanted to bring troops out of Iraq this could be a way that he does it by saying they made us do it the president's just wrapping up but extended holiday vacation at his resort in Florida there are there are there any plans for him to address the nation on this nothing sixteen full days in Florida that seventeen if you count the ninety travel down there and today he has no public events here at the White House alright Karen thanks for your time is always say be sees Karen Travers with us from the White House Vermont senator Bernie Sanders holds a very narrow lead over former vice president Joe Biden in the latest poll for the New Hampshire democratic primary the CBS poll shows that Sanders leads Biden twenty seven percent to twenty five percent Elizabeth Warren is further back eighteen per said Pete booted yours is fourth at thirteen percent again in New Hampshire the new report shows the US states will need to tackle greenhouse gas emissions to be climate change the study released by the rocky mountain institute stated that the shrinkage of coal mining has decreased electric power sector emissions but natural gas and other fossil fuel emissions have remained the same the institute hopes to see greenhouse gas emissions reduced by eighty percent by the year twenty fifty a South Carolina police officer has become the first U. Handicapping the Breeders' Cup
"It is finally here the world championships the Breeders Cup for the thirty six time and for the tenth time at Santa Anita it's time to handicap the world championship hip and for that we bring into our experts one we've had regularly and one for the first time we welcome back Ed Derosa of the brisket handicapping service and for the first time we bring in Molly Joe Rosen we followed her on twitter a lot it's good to finally bring her onto the show so again we said we're not going to handicap all of these races were GonNa pick the seven or so that we think have really good competition and will go with those and we'll start on the Friday card with the juvenile a race that has been diminished a bit with the defection of one of the early favorites Max field for Godolphin so we're really left with three big horses here to talk about Denis's moment the favourite eight rings and Scabbard Dennis's moment has been very consistent through his writer in his debut and then just missed a track record at Ellis Park can you really call a two year old and overwhelming favourite. What do you think here let's start with molly I think it's right open race I could not touch horse at eight to five not as you said not with two year olds you know making third and fourth fifth career starts I mean to me that just is crazy and I love him think he's phenomenally talented could wind up being the second coming of Secretariat obviously he's a freak of nature having won his to really his to start saying oh he's got that through the writer and the debut but you know he's one by twenty one lane I mean you can't knock a horse like that Dale is great with these types of horses he's prepped well he's looked great you know you take nothing away from him but eight to five in a eight Horsfield because not a MAC field scratch I can't touch a horse at eight five I do think it is a really wide open race I'm GonNa look at other horses you know take nothing away from eight rings also a horse who has done nothing wrong also worth who lost a job I do think a horse like scabbard for me is more interesting this is a horse who breaks his maiden by five then steps up and they had some has some learning to do and Eddie neely is great with these types of horses and I think if you're looking for price and you don't WanNa go towards one of the more so obvious sources for me a horse like Scabbard who's on the improve has really done nothing wrong in his career but you know seems to have maybe you have to overcome some some tendencies to find rebel trips of course to me like Scabbard is super intriguing? Ed What do you think well we're we're going to write off the rip because I'm all in on Dennis's moment and he's the only horse I'm using molly Jo Sung as praises appropriately and with the scratch AMAC's field unfortunately is is backers aren't even eight to five now so if that wasn't good enough for you Molly Joe I'm sure you're not gonna be happy with even money or six to five but the this horse You know the maiden win at Alice just blew everyone stores off so what can you say super professional in the Iroquois though defacto second career start I read got a handle for this horse got to test drive them so to speak and we've seen Dale ship out to the who've no at Santa Anita perform well with not this time it was second do horse I had a lot of respect for classic empire so I think he's early the horse to be an in a very competitive Friday car he's my big single day I'm with Molly I think scabbard had some trouble in finishing second today this is moment in the Iraq war and I think it's GonNa come down to those two I'm not discounting Dennis as moment but I think scabbard has to be more seriously considered than five to one lead move to the filly and mare sprint I'm really torn here about cafe when we get to the Saturday card I mean she won the Edgewood and the Miss preakness so maybe I'm not as impressed as other people are by the way she runs ed can she run her race from the rail She can for me either the bigger question and the rail is a question the bigger question is is shipping out west and she is not coming for a bar and that is it's been out there very long Dale with Dennis's moments that we talked about shipped out about a week ago see Asmussen's been there with his crew for seven her week so I am eager to see how horses on Friday to that hadn't chipped in versus the ones that have been there awhile local horses etc if I perceive a bias in that regard that might sway me offer as the favorite I will say on raw talent I absolutely think she is the best filly in this field for test was incredible energy titan or Churchill albeit against lesser was what you would want to see he coming into a race like this offer race like the test so I'm a believer but keeping an open mind and this is one of those cases where I am going to use information as it becomes available throughout the Friday card to see how liberal liberal I wanNA use her on Saturday molly what do you make of come dancing I'm not saying how do they poll she's got two and a Half Lake leaving don the destroyer next toward the inside at third special relativity first half of the year then the second half clearly has talent what do you make of her you know she's obviously you know a a really really lovely horses cool to see Carlos Martin on the big stage I I've known Carlos a real long time and he's just a phenomenal horsemen and She did have you know crazy good first half of the year her her win margins were certainly bigger flashier there was certainly more space there but running second to midnight visa in the VIPs you know other than that she's comeback her ballerina was beautiful her gallant bloom was beautiful I do worry a little bit about whether or not she can run in a straight I'm and that especially at Santa Anita we've seen over the years what was her name the Philly that ran second to beholder in the the distaff I wanNA say executive privilege we've seen horses who may not be able to run in a straight line not get there in time Santa Anita in the past and that concerns me a little bit when you do have other really consistent Phillies in here like FFA ed do you see attention long shot here in this race because I'm not loving come dancing I liked but don't love cafe what about dawn the destroyer will become a from the back and I guess you were saying you gotta see the Friday card to see whether anyone really can close at Santa Anita but what do you think about a long shot here that's actually and afterward oh so is this a matter where if you don't like the two favorites you chuck them and use them all I could see that as a strategy especially if you really where let's move to the turf to the mile not the dirt mile we'll get to the dirt mile let's go to the Turf Mile and here you've got to Phillies the headliners got stormy and Uni but now you've got circus maximus with a real European threat here it's not been the best year for eight and O'Brien really do you trust circus maximus here not in any way shape size or form and not at that price just in case you're wondering if I

Gayatri Mantra: This Ancient Solar Mantra Will Raise Your Vibrations Instantly
"Up some context all right so many of you know that I was born into a vedic family and growing up every now and then we'd have e ed or a fire ceremony at our home and as usual you'd have the priests chanting hymns and Mantras and as a kid sitting there I felt a sense of dizziness within hours like we're deciding all these hymns right and all these mantras but I don't really know what and the Amine and if I don't know the meaning significance behind what I'm seeing then why am I saying this right and deep down I made a promise to myself that sometime in the future when more to Ivan go on a quest to find the meaning behind all these hymns and and ritual uh-huh and mantras and share them with the word because I knew that there was something sacred about them I could feel the vibrations but the experience was incomplete without me actually knowing what they meant UC unfortunately in India because of what happened in the bust that itch and language of Sanskrit was slowly iraised from common everyday usage and these days asgard is mostly used in the temple. but that's changing slowly and more and more educated. Indians are slowly rediscovering the rich ancient heritage if India and its cultural and spiritual and artistic and scientific and linguistic history and it's not just Indians but it's people all over the world You're you're discovering the power and promise of practices like Yoga I read way dant right it's amazing and and that's what today's episode Associational so what is a mantra really know many of you might have heard the term mantra especially those of you who are into Noga in Iowa but what does the mantra really signify well a mantra is a Yantra a technology of sound you see the ancient sears there's in India after spending days months or even years in deep contemplation would experience a deep spiritual. awakening and a divine connection with the universe and with the guards and indistinct they would hear songs and they will see images and and feel sensations and they would then pass on these sounds and these mantras to their disciples as a sort of shortcut to experiencing this higher state of being this a state of divinity so to speak and there are thousands of mantras that one can experiment with and practice to write to see different results from healing to a weakening to liberation now the Guidry Mantra is comprised of twenty four syllables with eight syllables Berlin in the month begins with own and many of you know that the mantra all is very sacred and way powerful home is the sound of inception OAM is the sound Dad Universe emanates even today and it is deep primordial sound of creation and one that helps with healing and relaxation and in fact you could try it out if a baby is crying and if you chant or Internet own there's a good chance that the baby relax and quiet down that's how awful it is so the first line off the guy three mantra is all blur Boa Soi right so booed Bluer Soi this signify the three realms all of Earth Space and the heavens above Boor Bluer Soi more deeply it the three realms of existence the physical the mental and the spiritual or the soil level existence and the order also matters we're here right the deduction is from the physical to the spiritual rather than the other way around and in a way this line sets the tone for what is to follow in the endowed him the next lane is dot Salvator Buddy neom that salvator minium which means that supreme divine light that shines down upon the earth so graciously so in discriminatively right the light that shines down from the sun shines down on everybody is spectacle of who they are walked level of affluence they have or how much wealth they have everyone especially in the same country right receives equal amount of sunshine as long as they are standing out in the open night so this particular line is saying that a bow down to that supreme "All right so this is your second time with the pot getting our concern Osama veteran okay known at the table. No crunchy snacks crunchy snacks. No no shaking of the coffee ice loud. There are months where like weeks will go by. We're I'm like how am I literally. Don't know where your I will not have seen you for two weeks. Yeah that is basically the story of my life. Sometimes I don't even know where I am. I'll wake up hotel. Mike Oh yeah no. I'm in Appleton Wisconsin. Oh No oh now I'm in San Antonio Texas. Yeah I mean we talk about a few issues in your job in general but in our travel issue that came on May so you you shot almost the entire feature will yeah does may two thousand nineteen you were in Beirut with Andy Burgundy tracked and then you I'm just flip through the pages then you were in Taipei with Suli and also burgundy and Andy any wanted to tag on everything so that was a big photo portfolio of yours your shot in Allison Rome in spring break menu story that was just in New York yeah that was here in the building the buildings that was as basic recipe story and then you shot photos for our red sauce America package which brought you. Where did you go for this one? Oh man that was a lot. I think that was six cities L. A. L. A. Philly New Orleans. Oh my God. Where did I go? I mean you literally can't remember yeah I it was like four to five cities. I guess my first question is I think a lot of fans of yours. WanNa know like how do you end up as a staff dog for at a food magazine like whenever someone asked me about this is I'm the worst possible personnel asked because it's purely luck and circumstance stance and my only goal and still the only like hey just don't get fired and spend closing up on your six and I still get asked to come back every day and there were definitely moments early on we're Alex pollick grocer artificial photo department critic Blake. I'M GONNA kill Lau a huge mistake so you start off as an intern turn years ago yeah. That's my freshman year of college. I just wanted to do something with my life and not just go home for the summer to California and you know Oh bummer and my parents house so I wanted to find an internship and I've always had a fascination with the magazine world apply too much internships. Nobody got got back to me in like a week. Before summer started. I saw a posting for esquire magazine to be a fashion closet intern. Oh and I was like that sounds cool. That sounds way out of my reach. I am hugely under qualified for that but I'M GONNA shoot my shot and Michael Steph. who was the fashion assistant at the time got back to me? He's like when can you come in based on what oh it. Did you have background. It was the most underqualified letter ever. It was basically hey. Here's my resume. I was a lifeguard in high school. I was a high school tutor and I intern at the State House in Massachusetts in politics nothing related to magazines but I really love menswear and here's like my favorite menswear blogs and here's my favorite brands brand's. I like fashion. I can work hard and he got back to me. Can I just say that. I am a lot of times when I talked to young people who are just out of college in their writing you you know letters to inquire about a job and they read like they're written by a law firm. I'm always like learning be yourself. Be passionate sort of expose yourself so to speak but that's what's GonNa grab some somebody's attention one hundred. I think the way I showed her. The letter wasn't like the formerly hi my name's dogs home. Hey My name's Alex. I'm really excited about this. I know him not meant for this Gig but I will do whatever it takes gap and so forth and they took a chance on me and that kind of was my segue into the New York City magazine publishing world and it turns out having square on your resume. Just opens opens up a lot of doors but it was great. It was just my eighteen years old. I didn't get paid but I got to see how magazines work I've got to be on fashion shoots Justin Timberlake Lake and Ryan Gosling and wow poll like hold fourteen thousand dollar jackets and look it Nick Sullivan whose whose the editor in chief at the time Grainger David David David grange just like talk shop and like this is amazing. This is legendary and that made me really WANNA stick with it yeah very recall okay so internship at esquire. How then does that lead you to be a so after that? I was convinced that I wanted to stay in publishing. Look fashion. menswear ended up at Nylon guys Juku for a little bit complex four pins so I was very very much in that circuit as an intern just doing minimal intern work but after a couple of years I was just like this is not really what's my angle here. I don't WANNA be stylus. I don't WanNa be a fashion writer. The idea of being a photographer and fashion was just you know. I didn't even sit down. That's not going to happen so after this is my third yes approaching my third year of college. I A Internet a bunch of or apply uh-huh bunch of other internships again. Nobody got back to me. Despite actually this I'm being off and having a lot of magazines in Monroe oster I applied to like yeah a a couple of mags won't be noted but they're they're. They're okay. They just get back. I mean I saw a posting for bone apetite photo internship and I was like I know nothing nothing about food. I like pictures. I took photo classes in high school and college. So how active a photographer were you at this point. It's like I'm not active. I don't know I took a lot of fissures in high school. I had my own flicker account. I you were you were you were definitely interested. We're sitting at least and I took pictures of the school paper and stuff like that. I I was a you know an avid hobbyist as major so do you did you come in an interview like what God you the job ultimately so I went in again. It's always like a last minute. Call in showed up from Boston and I met with Jake. Ramoser are former photo assistant and he he gave me a talk. Hey so turn yeah. It looks like you've worked a lot of magazines. you have zero photo experience and you have zero food experience so you're pretty underqualified but honestly the only person here that's interviewed. That's worked at large publications so we're GonNa go with you. So that was basically it was it was Bazeley. Hey you're you've worked at reputable places so we'll hire yeah. I do think that's interesting interesting career wise like over the years. I've worked at James Beard Foundation in Time Out New York and the food's severe than G. Q. Got more fashion thing that came back to food. I was a sports writer in college like it is you can move around and I think one thing that editors employers look for is that you do have experience in in a particular field and that you know how to get stuff done that you know under you understand what the industry requires but within that sort of industry you can shoot food. You can shoot you know people. You can do all these things. You don't have to be in one lane. One hundred percent I think at the time I was taking some classes and I was also I was studying NPR print journalism at the time and I remember talking about that with Jake and he was like Oh. This is a plus because you kind of understand writing thing and photography on some level so we'll run with this so he didn't internship summer internship a year or so later. We ended up hiring you as a foot assistant no so I did this summer internship and I was like this is way better than working fashion. Everyone's so much nicer yeah yeah. It was a great time and I was like in order for me to WANNA stay in this world I can see I need to shift from fashion to food media so then I went back to Boston awesome for my senior year and as as I left Alex pollock the photodetectors times like hey we love your great. Just reach out when you're when you're graduating we can like. Maybe you keep you keep you happy. Come back so I would always send emails and I say hey just graduated like three months three or four months. I would love to come talk about a photo editor assistant role. Did you in the interim year. Were you working on shooting things. Decrease your portfolio to share with Alex to say hey I just want. I've been shooting a lot. Take a look at my stuff. Yes so thankfully because of my time I she went over to Boston magazine for my senior of college and I ended up being digital intern which basically means I was just doing every anything and everything for the website correct the king yeah yeah I remember being so proud and like twenty years old on my I've got years of intern experience. I haven't been paid for any of them but you we know I've seen some stuff like that really was my my pride enjoy worked a lot of places and they harden managed digital intern and they also gave me bill do photo take pictures and do have my own bylines socially once a lot of times when you get your foot in the door somewhere are the the brand or the magazine wherever they need people to do stuff go. You can go okay but we'll trust you. There's something trustworthy about you. Then people are all right. Go give this a shot. You'd have a DVD will keep doing it. I must really thankful that it was a web internship versus print because obviously no one's GonNa give any Interna print byline whereas it's much lower risk to teachers hey make something for lab and if it's really good we'll Polish and if not we won't publish in no one will ever or care about low budget so it was just gave me a lot more freedom and they knew that I worked at the food magazine before okay so you know how to take pictures of food. You were photo intern turn. I'm like yeah I guess I mean I. I saw Marcus Nelson. Do you like an overhead shot of something by a window so I can do that. How hard can it be yeah so I mean I I? I did it and they would. It was really cool. I mean they sent me there. Okay so we'll just have you do restaurants so they would send me like once a week in shoot for four restaurants a week and just shoot it for their website so who was giving you guidance about photos style at that point what kind of shots they wanted from the restaurants. It's nobody else really. They just assumed you knew what you were doing. The funny thing is I applied to Boston magazine to be a photo inter. I WANNA continue that path that track of being working for requirements it's but they they didn't want but then the digital department got back to me. I didn't really have communication with the magazine so it was just kind of me and our digital editor who just send me. I was like Oh this. Let's get this close enough to bone advocate and some overhead shots off light and like keep doing this and I would just bike around Boston Jason and go to a bunch of restaurants that are digital restaurant editor Chris Hughes covered and yeah it was it was really good training. It's really good training. I looking back it was really great just being able to go in and practice and shoot restaurants for relatively low risk and have that be an internship set eh great base so then I shot all these restaurants and as shooting what's in all this stuff to Alex pollick. I'm like hey portfolio.
