Who wants me After my parents died after my grandmother died it basically became my siblings and them. Because i wasn't around my siblings it became the parents like friends. What's what's that was gone. And i moved out here. It became the older employees. That i work. That took a genuine interest in me. They invited me to their families. They let me watch their houses when they out on vacation or something like that so there there's always been people that got around me that ahead Reminded me yes. You are different than everybody else. But you're different in a integrated way as a christian and so Don't don't get upset. Don't don't deviate from what you're doing. You're on a very good path So that's it's it's always been that way. There's always been some adults. That richard i've been at the company opponent company. I've worked in That always been genuinely interested in helping me see the world the way god coming to see the world see myself out hemi see myself in and see people and value people more so than anything else because as the saying goes the only thing i can take me to heaven. It's people. I can take anything else so trying to make sure. As many people i know have experienced love god The grace of god. The unconditional love got operas s. as it flows from him to me just having people around who believed that same thing. Believe the same way. Look the lack the same way. I kind of thought well too bad. This didn't release during the pandemic. in here we are here. We are the pandemic yes. There are always be situations like this but it is. It is a very relevant story for our. You know. I have read. You know esther a million times. Following jesus for twenty something years and as i was reading your book so many things came alive to me. First of all the idea of how large that kingdom was. Where have i missed that. All of my readings of the split massive keenum was it was huge and how oppressed the jewish people. Were you talk a lot. You kind of relate this you had this metaphor of winter and spring that you bring up in the book often and this season that zan was felt like a winter season it and we kinda feel like that as well. You know we talk about season. We like spring is coming. You know summer will be here. What is that encouragement to us. Even with our faith to know man winter seasons sometimes lasts longer than we want to last. Sometimes we cross for days after we thought we saw sprang what is your encouragement to us as believers living a winter season right now. Well of course we know what's going on in the world depression as it an all time. High treatments frank. Zaidi are just spiking off the roof. And i believe the most tragic statistic in the world right now is that the suicide rate is the highest suspense since world war. Two and so there is just a sense of despair. It's despair. I don't know if the world can go through. Ptsd it feels like we're all in battling since of trauma in we manifest are paying differently. Obviously some people lash out. We see that on social media. We see that it politics. We point fingers. We politicized i think if you know we could politicize the color of shirt even. Yeah we're so tribal. But i think it comes from being hurt i really do. I think we're afraid. I think we're upset and so it's a winter it's cold say it's winter fell. We've got a winter over us. So the big story of esther as well as by the way the story of daniel the story of joseph the story of jesus. The story of mary. The story of the bible is that yes. Life sucks last takes. It really does get heart. Just it is so heartbreaking but you know what we got hang on we gotta hang on right now. We're on an uphill into the win ride in it. We gotta keep pedalling. So i just find myself. Begging people. don't give up. don't give up. I'm not saying we're going to be out of this tomorrow. I don't know when we are. And i don't know exactly how we will be that i've really to the core of my being believed that books like this in the bible are there to help us to not throw in the towel. Esther did not. She didn't do great at first. Mordecai did not. He was not much to speak of at first. You know these are real people. They they didn't live out their faith at first but eventually they had kind of a wakeup call and it turned things around. You know when. I was reading your book and even just thinking through mordecai and esther in their relationship and the way i mean we speak about asteroid man. She was there for such a time as this. She stood up and she saved or people. But you just said like that didn't come without a potential costs and it didn't come for her with a lot of probably anguish and loss sleeping nights of sleep and then mordechai you know had his own warning in grief and encouraging her that how do you relate that to even us today as believers in the world that we live in of like you say this is your moment you were made to stand up like mordechai to speak up like esther and i hear that and i think yes i can do this. I have heroes in the faith that i've seen before that. How does that translate from you know persia to are today. You know what. She doesn't twenty-one north america for schmor- sometimes we hear the phrase. Stand up for your faith and we equate that to be obstinate or to be arrogant or to be irritable. Or if i can say this trap. An american flag around the cross and become some blend of spiritual and patriotic than the bible never calls for. I was playing golf on saturday. Just three or four days ago. First time i've gotten to play on wild number one because of the texas heat the number two because of kovic and they number three. Because i celebrated forty years of marriage and we got away on a tree on a great vacation. I usually play once that went down that rabbit trail. But i was having a visit with a guy who knows. I'm a pastor and he is just philosophically and spiritually everything. I'm not but he's a great guy. And i love to play with so he said to me on saturday he said a like hanging out with you but you know also and so any told me guy. Actually i don't and he said he put fish symbols all over his golf cart and he said isn't that some kind of christian thing he said. Yeah he said but when he plays is no different than i am because he throws his clubs he gets mad. He cheats and he said what's going on here. So jamie when we say that let's take stanford fade. I think some people say okay. I'll go put fish symbols all over my golf card. You know easy right. It's easy taking stanford your faith. I think means loving people who are hard to love forgiving people who are hard to forgive stepping in to the gap when you can feed the poor when.

Getting i found the one chapter that you wrote about esther and rahab and you talked about being prepared for the ester or rahab moments that will come into our lives and i was wondering if you could give an example maybe from your own experience of what a moment like an ester rahab moment would look like about their so much that god is preparing and planting and all of our stories and when we were making every effort to be in his will and walk with him. I think about even things like scripture memory i think about versus i learned as a kid that come back to me now just so when those moments come you don't even think about it it. It becomes natural that that something pops up in your mind. Let the words of my mouth in the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Oh lord my strength and my redeemer or about putting on the full armor of god. So i feel like having those things tucked away committing them to memory Can be encouraging can be helpful. We know that christ himself use scripture when he was confronted by the enemy To shoot down every lie of his knees. He's coming at us with lies everyday about who we are what we're worth and i think for women especially they need to know we are created in god's image. We are precious in his sight. We are daughters of the king as believers and so. I think being able to call on that truth when the lies. Come that tell you. You aren't worthwhile You're not chosen. You don't get this job or this relationship falls apart we. You don't know how you're gonna pay the rent. I mean there are struggles in every single day. I mean for me. It really was the years of living in chronic pain That were sort of astor rahab moments for me. How will i rise to this occasion. Can i get through this and Scripture was a huge comfort to me in those times. When i thought i can't make it through one more day i can't and i think we will all face challenges whether their sudden losses illnesses rejection betrayal. Whatever it is. We're all going to get there. So i think having the roots having the scripture buried in our hearts so that we can call from the enemy based on that scripture. I mean to me. Those are all things we can do to prepare for our esther. Rahab moments We hear so often that phrase for such a time as this which is from esther story and it's important to remember that when mordecai her uncle came to hurt to explain or sent a message to her that the entire jewish people were under attack and would be annihilated without some kind of intervention for her. He asked her to go to the king but she knew she. To the king unbidden he could have her put to death and we have to remember her story. She didn't immediately say okay. I'll go she said have all the jewish people fast for three days. At the end of that i will go and if it costs me my life i will go Because mordechai send her. Don't think if you don't rise to this occasion that somebody else won't that you won't be protected as well so It's good to remember in her story. There was some hesitation and fear in there but she asked for the help of fasting for the for the jewish people and she then committed she would go on despite what fear she may have had to be brave in the moment. Jeremiah Nia might just to begin the list were all of them got involved for God's purpose in secular government. How are they supposed to reconcile what Jesus Christ said? That literally was what we're doing tonight, talking about what's happening around us finding a way to try and make sense of the chaos as active citizens. The king liked esther the best so he put the crown on her head and made her queen instead of ashti in chapter two verse twelve. We're told the king hosted a great banquet proclaimed a holiday and freely distributed gives to celebrate things. We're looking good for esther until the very next verse verse. Nineteen begins with when virgins were gathered together a second time. Wow it didn't take long for the king to get bored with queen and concubine t had and start building up. His hair again during that time is when mordecai overheard applaud to kill the king. He got word to esther she alerted the king the guilty parties were hanging the gallows and the event was recorded in the chronicles the bible then introduces a side story about heyman. The king promoted him to second in command. And all the king's servants within the kingsgate. Bow down to heyman to pay homage. But not mordechai of course. This greatly disturbed heyman any vowed to not only get rid of mordecai but all the jews as well for you see heyman was an aggregate and aggregates and jews had a long standing animosity. Heyman waited until he had an audience with the king. Then he shared with him that there was a group of people scattered throughout the kingdom who didn't abide by the king's commands. He recommended that a decree be issued to destroy these people. The king went along with it and just like with vast. She's decree word was sent out to each of the provinces and sealed with the king's official ring. The order was that on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month a year from the proclamation that all jews in the land were to be destroyed. When mordecai heard the decree he went into mourning. Tearing his clothes dressing and sackcloth covering himself in ashes and going throughout the city wailing esters maids in unix informed. Her of what. Mordechai was doing and it distressed her. Let's start with a beauty pageant as a team. I competed in pageants. So i loved the story of esther and imagined it being much like i experienced with girls crammed and dressing rooms clamoring for attention each eager to win the crown. Then once it was over everyone going on with their lives. But that's not how it was. I it says it. All the beautiful virgins were brought to the palace. They didn't have a choice. I imagine many were flattered to be chosen and excited about the opportunity but many others were likely less than thrilled. They may have been looking forward to a quiet marriage to the boy next door. Having two point five kids and living happily ever after instead they were whisked away from their families and locked away in the women's quarters of the palace for year. the girls went through their beauty treatments. What did they do the rest of the time do they make friends with the other girls. Do they make enemies. Probably both in esthers case. She made friends perhaps. She stood out because she was at peace. Whatever happened so she wasn't driven by competitive spirit than the competition itself. Each night a girl went in to sleep with king one after another. They went in trying to be a seductive and enticing as they could be that in the morning they were ushered into the harems quarters. Were they officially became a concubine from that point on. They were secluded in the palace with the other. Women never to live a normal life again not nearly as glamorous as we've always imagined is it. This is the world that esther found herself in. Not exactly the kind of environment that jewish girls dreamed of being in and yet she made the most of it. She accepted her lot with dignity and grace choosing to be a light in the world of darkness that surrounded her and when the time came for her to take a stand people listened because she had proven herself worthy to be listened. To what about you do you have dreams and visions of your future. That have been stolen from you. Have you been denied the life you expected to have. How are you handling it. I'm reminded of my pageant days when i was competing in pageant in florida in july in a stuffy old building and the air conditioning went out to say it was hot. Would be an understatement. To make matters worse we were wearing taffeta dresses. Which don't exactly breathe. As i was fussing and fuming in the dressing room complaining about how unfair life was because of what the heat was doing to my hair and makeup. My mother very quietly reminded me that i wasn't the only one who was hot. I joked not. I had seriously never thought that anyone else was suffering. All i saw was my own problems. You may be going through something similar right now. Twenty twenty was unfair. You suffered and you're making sure everybody knows but what if instead of fighting what you can't control you accepted it and made the best of it. The book of esther is unique in that god is never mentioned and yet. He's there throughout the pages working quietly behind the scenes taking horrid situations and using them for his glory his doing the same day. We may not like where we are right now. But who's to say that he's not been preparing you for such a time as this so that you might be used as an instrument of light in a world of darkness. Lord god we come to you with heavy heart all around us. It feels like our world is falling apart. Nothing makes sense and for the life of us. We can't figure out why we're we're at nor what we're supposed to be doing. Bet you god you know not of this is caught you by surprise. You have us right where we need to be and though we may feel overwhelmed by it all you are right here with us preparing us for what it is you would have to do. Thank you lord for. Never forsaking us. You're so valuable in this army of christians that the lord has you any new talk again at abbas while about the body of christ. We are all a part of the body of christ oftentimes as christian wives. We care for our home so that our husband can go fight a different part of the battle in as husbands and wives. We hopefully are fighting the same battle in our homes and raising up christian soldiers But but god has called us to something very specific and our role is mom is to take care of our children to take care of her home and take care of our husbands but sometimes like we said at the end of the last podcast. Sometimes god has a special assignment for us and sometimes there's just for a season you know right now. Abby i par part of our our special assignment is that the lord has called us to do this podcast and we love it. We find so much joy in doing this because we know that it blesses you and encourages you and we're a is. I've said this before you know. Were not some super homeschool moms. Who know everything about homeschooling. We have it all figured out where the perfect parents and we have the perfect marriages and we have the perfect home and everything is in order. And we've got it all figured out. That's not at all shoe we are. We are moms and wives just like you who are in the midst of this battle trying to figure it out and so Right if you could see us sitting in our bedroom because this is the other thing is this is our special assignment but a special assignment never takes precedent of the bigger. So we said yes this podcast in this this home school ministry. It is our special assignment but never ever an any vet. And i hold each other accountable. Never does it come before our first ministry. Raising children in twenty twenty one. But he didn't. He made us for such a time as this on purpose. It wasn't a mistake and would it have been my choice. Absolutely not take me back to the little house on the prairie day. All day long But that wasn't god's plan god's plan was for us to be here now and so with that said you know what does that mean. And how can we live fully in the time that he's called us to live. Yeah and and what can we learn from his word. I mean we've talked about a lot of scripture and we i at the end of the last episode. I told you guys said over the past couple of months. I've read the book of esther a few times. And i have read the book bester before but when i read it a few months ago it i read it with completely. Different is and the ad it came alive to me like. That story has never come alive to me ever before and i just i wanna make. I know that there are movies that have been made about astern and books that have been written. But i'm like. I wanna i wanna make a movie about this. Because his just so good in. It's actually kind of funny. I mean i mean there are parts of it that are funny In in a weird way but the book of esther. If you have not read it mommy i just say a soon even even before you listen to the rest of this podcast pause this go grab your bible. Grab your kids ghabra husband. If he's home and read the entire book of esther. It's i think it's eight chapters. It's not very long. Even put it on your audio bible. You know we use you've version and so you it will even read it for you but haven't read the book of esther or take a few days or a week or a couple of weeks to read through it but I'm going to give you kind kind of a very very brief for those of you. Who may be are not really familiar with the book of esther. One of the things that i find most interesting about it is that did you. And i don't know if you know this but the only book in the bible that does not ever mention the name of god yet and yet amazing the evidence of god his unbelievable in there yes it everywhere it is everywhere. I mean god's presence literally just permeates throughout the entire story esther and nothing that happens in. This story is a coincidence not and god is clearly in control of this entire story. Just like god is completely in control of our story of the world that we're living in the chaos that that is surrounding us of the unsurety and and unrest that were feeling in our nation right now. God is in control and And so i'm gonna kinda just very briefly. Describe unpack this so In the beginning of of the story In we were talking about this before most people call him kings oxy's but our family usually reads the esp and in the esp him as king hasawara s. And so i'm going to read a little bit from so when you hear me king hasawara. It's also kings. He just. I don't know why he has two different names. I i'm not sure But nonetheless that's his name so here. The kind of characters in the story are king house. Us i'm king varsity. Who was his lovely wife. And the king is having this grand party and so he calls for queen bashed in. He wants her to come in. Basically flaunt her beauty and front of all his buddies and she's like no. I'm not gonna do that so basically kicks her to the curb. he's i get out. I never wanna see you again. This is the queen but she basically humiliated humiliates him in front of all of his friends and so he says i'm done with her so then he's like well. I need to have a queen and she must be beautiful and so he has all the pure beautiful girls in the kingdom. He's he's a queen. The king of the persian empire so he has all the young beautiful pure women brought to him and one of those beautiful. Young women is queen esther. I'm whose name i'm sorry. No reggie now. Queen is her name. Blogging synchro gal. She's also refer to as head data her actual name is but she's always refer to as esther in the bible and so basically they take this group of girls these young girls and they Basically go to a spa for like a whole here. Wouldn't that be nice and a pamper them and they make them even more beautiful than they already are. Walking a hassle takes a liking. He sees esther and he's like a haughty and so through some events she becomes the new queen and she has his cousin named mordecai and more chi has taken care of her queen. Esther's parents had died when she was young in some mordechai has taken her kind of as his own daughter and he raises her and so he is kind of outside of the castle gates as he's outside he discovers. Wendy that two of the king's unix wanna hurt king harassed so he tells esther about astros and tells the king and the unix are hanged and she basically saved the king's life but really it was mordecai who saved the king's life by telling esther while then in in comes heyman and heyman is a really really bad guy and he becomes second in command to the king and he wants everybody to bow to him. And mordechai as a jew esther is a jew and they don't mordechai doesn't want about to him and he refuses to bow to heyman because you know he bounced to god and so heyman gets really mad about this and.
