"Guy into her life. And it's what's so amazing is that she didn't see it. She didn't see what was happening because it's like so obvious. You want to just grab her off the street and shake her by the lapels and go, no, no, no, no. No. Wow. Do you, and even like, I think when she kind of saw it, she didn't refuse, she refused to believe it, right? Right. Yeah, she was really intelligent, graduated from Stanford. I think as Wharton business school, it was at Stanford. She went to Stanford. Uneducated person. And she fell in with a guy who was convincing her that her daughter was going to be immortal. As you would. Wow. As you would. So something fascinating about we were talking about this earlier, the invasion of the body snatchers is when you, when you know people that somehow some person or force gets in their life and they become completely blind to that, and you know, when it's a reminder, I guess we're all susceptible to it. Right. Yeah. But this is a pretty extreme example. Yeah, you know, it's a perverse kind of entertainment, right? Because I've actually been listening to a podcast called scamp Florence, which is about scam artists, and I think it sounds like an NPR, you know, kind of a thing. Our capacity for self deception or to be deceived is amazing. Yeah. Yes. You know? And we had a conversation on the porch for a few minutes before we came up to the studio. I did think as you were pulling up, I was just in a moment of reverie outside. And I was like, God, you know, it is hard to be human. Because, you know, we see things, it's so hard to see clearly. You know, a lot of the time, you know? And to have certainty that you're motives are right, you know, like, and sometimes you have to act, you know, you can't stop to wait for a definitive answer. But yeah, the capacity for self deception to be deceived and to deceive oneself is just amazing. There's this whole Chinese word Zeke ren. And the whole idea is you deceive yourself and the process of deceiving others. So even people that are scammers, they are somehow have to see themselves to the point that they are able to deceive others. Interesting. That's what's the name of that. What's that called? I'm feeling a movie. I'm feeling a movie, man. So, you know, we just did this filmmakers retreat in Texas together. And our attended, which was really extraordinary. I'm still kind of riding on the glow of that thing a little bit. Are you? Yes. That was an extraordinary weekend. What, 30 of us? It was a small group. And it was myself a side, right? Because I was like, there were three authors there and then the rest of the people were all in the film business. And it was a pretty austere group. I mean, I don't want to mention names because it was kind of a private event, but there was, you know, there were a bunch of Academy Awards in the room. Yes. Right. And actors and directors and screenwriters and whatnot. And I loved watching you because I said to Annie later, I said, you know, I've never seen this side of Steve. It was like you were in a candy shop. We're just running around. I could see that your speech was kind of pressured. You were just talking to people. And it was so much fun to watch you, you know, just beam among your people, you know? And to see it. And we heard a lot of those things that we mentioned earlier, which is the hardship of being creatives, being risk takers of being scrutinized of trying to work faith into Hollywood or into the film. You know what I mean? And there were a lot of tears at that thing. Yeah, it was that was an extraordinary experience wasn't it? It was, it was so many, so many filmmakers who aren't necessarily public people, they've decided to be behind the camera instead of on the other side. Along with some actors who are very public people and all of them there to have an experience that I'm guessing none of them have ever had before. I'd add it a few times because this is the third time I've been to that retreat. But it was beautiful seeing all these creative people just enjoying the company of other creative people without meeting to get anything. From them. Yeah. Well, okay, we got to show on July 2nd at the ryman chagall Guevara is playing is back is back and we'll have those of you who know over the Rhine, they're going to be opening for us and of course they're incredible. So really excited about that too. So everybody has to rush out and do that. Steve, where do you want people to know about you and learn about the things that you're doing? In our conversation where you asked me what was going on with the light going on. I'm working with my longtime friend Mike Nero, the co creator of veggie tales and voice of Larry the cucumber. He's got a new animated series that I'm producing called the Dead Sea squirrels. No way. Yeah, have you never seen the trailer for the Dead Sea squirrels? No. I'm telling you, man. Get ready, 'cause this thing's gonna be a blockbuster. It is a scream. It's been really fun. I realized the reason I've never tried animation before is because it takes so freaking long. Yeah. But it's been an education and Mike is the world's nicest guy in a blast to work with. And we're getting to do music together for it as well. So that's been really fun. And it's always film projects, my grad assistant had to experience teaching English in Taiwan between college and grad school and I encouraged her to turn it into a screenplay and helped her with the development and so we were just in Taiwan, but weeks ago, filming the movie called sun moon, which is named because of the area in Taiwan that sudden moon Lake, so it will be coming out sometime this fall. And yeah, other projects in various stages of development, but plenty to keep me engaged. Driving my son and people like how man justice is so good. Yes, Anthony's son justice is part of our film program and just one of those guys that jumps in and is always ready to learn and he speaking of Dead Sea squirrels he did the location sound when we were shooting a promo for it. Wow, that's awesome. He's very talented. That's awesome. Thank you for what you're doing with him. Appreciate it. Well, everybody. This has been our interview with my good friend, Steve Taylor. It's been a joy brother. I love you. I love Deb. I love Sarah. I love everything about the things you've done with your life. And you know, I look forward to all the many times that we will be together and the things that we'll learn. And you've been a great mentor is not the right word, but life teacher for me has been good to have you on the journey with me. Well, likewise, Ian, thank you and Anthony always a pleasure. Same, thank you. And typology tribe may you have loved me you have joy, many we have peace in many way of healing. And then you have rest until next time.

"It depend on how far apart the things are or. Is it like you just when you make this comparison you sort of mentally. Put these things right next to each other. And then compare the center of mass. It definitely depends on how far apart they are right because for example if they're equally massive be right between them and that definitely depends on the distance between the two objects yes and so that would mean you have to planets as opposed to a moon and a planet in the definition and so say you have two things that are like one is just a little bit smaller than the other one is bigger but the smaller one is made out of something much more massive or dense or not quite. Sure what we're looking for here. Could the smaller thing and up being the planet that gets orbited by a bigger thing because it has more like gravitational pull absolutely. Yeah for example if you had something orbiting a black hole right a super-duper dense object than the center of mass of the systems. Definitely going to be within the event horizon even though the black hole could be smaller at black holes are very very compact. They don't have to be very very large. But there are supermassive. So that's awesome you're pushing the boundaries of this definition but i don't know i guess a black hole could have a planet orbiting it. I'm not sure if you would call that a planet or a moon right if you're orbiting a black hole. Yeah it's trippy. I as a not physicist. Find it sort of unsatisfying that if the moon is too far away it might if something that feels sort of moon lake is too far away. It wouldn't count as a moon because the center of mass is not within the bigger body or something it feels like distance shouldn't matter for the definition but that's a biologist take on it liberal has to be in orbit and i think one problem with his whole categorization is a natural hierarchy. I mean you have the sun and the stuff orbiting around the sun and then you call those planets but that's sort of arbitrary because there orbiting around the sun and then is things orbiting around the planets ryan you call those moons in the end is to sort of a natural hierarchy of stuff orbiting stuff that's orbiting other stuff and our categorization of it is really going to try to draw a line. There were there really aren't lines. Yeah but that's like a fundamental problem with science and biology. We categorize things and constantly. Nature does not care how we categorize it. She moves away outside of our categories. Yeah i guess it's tough just finding a definition that is useful. I guess in biology. There was a huge revolution a couple hundred years ago right because you guys had been categorizing stuff based on how it looked in what it did and then discover the genetic relationships between everything and that there was actually a real true organization to all these animals that didn't necessarily respect how they looked or how we observe them and then it turns out that you know. How do you define species. That's actually a pretty difficult question. The tree of life doesn't just branch it sort of comes. The branches come back together and you get horizontal gene transfer and how do you categorize species of bacteria when they're swapping jeans all the time and it gets complicated fast while in physics. It's interesting to think about how these words were used for a long time. People use the word satellite to also refer to moons and this is before we had things in space like gps in telecommunications satellites in new laser weapons on that kind of stuff. Now when you say satellite you think of something. People build mehtab. Electrinics launched into space but before sputnik before nineteen fifty seven. Astronomers use the word satellite to talk about anything orbiting another object and so they didn't really use the word moon scientifically they referred to luna for example as earth satellite then when they launched sputnik realized. Hold on a second. What are we going to call that. And so they started. Use the word artificial satellite but that was a little bit too cumbersome and so now we just say satellite when we mean artificial satellite and then moon which was a word. Mostly used like insci- fiction in sort of popular culture became a more official scientific word. I think that's sort of cool that the scientists adopted a word from common usage. That's totally fascinating. And i've been reading about the space race. And i didn't know this history of the word satellite and when i saw that. They named sputnik an artificial satellite as. Let's sort of clunky. Just call it satellite but it makes sense now a lot of the fathers of rocket science or whatever were really into sifi. I think almost all of the fathers of rocket science claimed that they were inspired by. Jules verne's what does it call to the moon. I wonder if the fact that they were all super into sifi sort of helped. Get the word moon into the scientific literature. It makes me wonder what else like will in the future. Be part of science in the things that we say you wouldn't hear. Scientists say like a shooting star is our word for meteor. But you never see that in the science paper but maybe someday in the future you know the language will transmogrify itself into officials. Scientific visit speak could be alright so we have our definition of a moon. It has to be a natural body right now. Something engineered by humanity or elon. Musk has to orbit the planet. But there's really no minimum size to it though. There seems to be some sort of sense of an upper limit that you shouldn't have your moon being larger than your planet all right so now that we have our definition or at least a definition. We're gonna work with for the rest of this episode. Let's take a break before we move back to figuring out. This is the moon we call the moon. Which is sort of a silly name. Reid calling the moon. The moon reminds me. Actually when i was a kid we had a cat and nobody could agree on what to call the cat so we just called it the cat and that just became its name and for a while. I felt sad for like all poor. Cat doesn't get a name but he didn't care it got fed it got pet doesn't need a name. I think it's good that you became more creative calling it. The moon is very ego centric like that is our moon so it is the moon or if it just.

"For yeah I mean the anarchist in me that the the person who wants to not live in fear and wants justice and and wonders just on a selfish level fucking. These people were if this if this system was taken out of the way now would we were not in the system thrive. Now how how were we being? How will we be pushed down before? Yeah you know what kind of how many jobs were. We pushed out of the way for in order to put someone from that colts in your place. Say the two. They've imposed the psychological barriers. Where people believe they can accede pass certain levels just because the way the system has been designed and maintain this group people. Unless you sell your soul. I've been very lucky if I sold my soul. Slivers of it was unbeknownst to me. I Must Mars. I know I I did it the hard way you know there were moments where I was with people who were proud freemasons and they said you know you're GONNA ask one to be one and I know that they were not recording me and I told the fuck off Do they were trying to? Yeah I'm sure they were When they walk up to you and they and they just the first thing they say he's gotTA ASK WHEN TO BE ONE. It's like they might as well have the scientology clipboard. He's you know here's the thing I'm not suicidal and eight red. Mussa this shit. It's got it it exists. It exists. And they're all connected the rural they're all intertwined all these clubs or just cold by different names and and everybody who is on the drone level. They totally wholeheartedly believe that. It's Haired THERE. It's for the good of Enlightenment. And they're helping humanity and they don't realize that top it's for nefarious purposes. They give not moral purpose for it enables people to do things they might not have otherwise. Then it's messed up. You look at all this stuff when you look at the predictions about New Order House GonNa roll out to market a beast all this shit and it looks like what's happening today but it looks like you know what it. What did they say they said the in the Bible the talk about the great jubilee you know all all I all? Everyone's taxes paid. You know we don't we. We all debts to pay. Go over to the fucking. That's the gold standard right now. It's like suddenly. Oh my God. It's like we they want. They want to tank the economy and they go over to the gold standard. Okay so you just okay. Everyone's going it wasn't going to basically be well off of the rest of their lives. You'RE GONNA get free energy. You're going to get this healing technology. You'RE GONNA get all this is going to be fucking utopia you know. That's what they're presenting and but you can't have it unless you get the vaccine. You have it unless you get this. No Tak Ku bar code tattoo. Yes whatever the market of eastern whatever the fuck that is that's what they're going to present to you and say you gotta get it right or else you won't be able to be part of society. They have us by the balls now. That seems like that is where we're headed. Even if its military tribunals like they clean house yes but then. We're just beholden to our savior. And then if you take a step back and you say you know this is all of this. Is this all fucking plan? Is this just a slow? You know say up. I think there's a hatred going on. As as part of their. What you're saying in about the the vaccine stuff is the government might not even have to mandate it because they're putting so much pressure on all the private companies that the private companies are GonNa do it for them. This is what they did prior to World War. One to get us into into the first war is they is. It's called the committee on public information. The first organized propaganda machine that the United States has the Edward Brenes Walter Lippmann all these journalists and they they they went around the country pressuring these corporations you need to do your civic duty. Scare THEM THEY PRESSURE. Um and then the companies did the sensory. The company spread the propaganda themselves that way. The government has the plausible deniability. Saying we didn't take away. Your right it's the company's choice to do it and I see the same thing playing out right now. It's it's crazy. Will you guys get the vaccine? Don't answer to that I I've been thinking about it myself. What am I going to do? I don't I don't want to but what am I GONNA do? Well here's the thing I look over and I see my kids and what am I GONNA? What's to do? I can't live outside of the grid. What am I look at my kids watching Disney plus and they're just looking at the can look at all. It's just a god we we were I'm stuck I'm stuck. I'm stuck in this fucking thing. It's it's It's really like what I what am I. What's the alternative? Take my family and live Live in the fucking mountains wasting become getting like we're GONNA do. Yeah at this point. It's tough to see what some of the options are. I'm sure there's going to be protests that arrive so there will be people pushing back on it but I'm curious if they will actually try to mandate it. There's a Supreme Court case back in. Nineteen that DID FORCE. Some people that didn't mandate a vaccine for smallpox. And I've seen some articles talking about how that could be a vote to to justify the mandatory. I I'm interested to see where that goes. I know I'm not in a hurry. They'll gates vaccine if he's the one that comes up with put inside. Oh fuck the vaccine. What about hydrochloric linguine? Or whatever the fuck it is Deepak and and I didn't even see that's what we should talk about that like. Why they should be pushing that shit. They should be pushing a healthy alternative. And by the way you look at the molecular breakdown. And it's one molecule away from our our favorite three-letter drug folks. Thc Yeah you're that Josh. For what one molecule away from Hydroxy Cork when to exit? It hasn't been tested. It has worked and it has been people who've come out and said this helped me. And he has given the caveat. Make sure your doctor tells you and there are a few it might be side effects liver problems all the normal stuff that you would have concerns. You would have with any any type of medication. But when the the media reports are they say. Donald trump pushed unproven drugs. Could kill breaking news. Somebody drink clerk win some fish tank because they saw donald trump tower take getting. Now they're dead. It's just like why are you doing that like why? Why don't you be reasonable about it and tell people to look into it? Why why is that this bullshit where you're trying to scare people away from it? Yeah on the other hand. You're saying take this vaccine. Stay inside I. It just boggles the mind to hear them. Not even be reasonable about some of this stuff in the media. This is me off really. I'm into the machine pharval things. It's I really hope that I really hope that Q and and trump's and they hope they hope they fucking mean. Well I said I'm not going to to. I'm not going to celebrate until the vaccines are off the table that there is an actual presentation of healing technology that puts all this shit the rest and they start rolling back right when that happened that maybe we'll start showing optimistic. Yeah I'll be on board to all of that when all of that happens I hope it does I do I hope. I hope that the the theories are true. I I think it's part of the sigh up personally. I think there's truth in it But I'm not holding my breath. I am hopeful. I think that humanity is. I think that we do Find ways to come through and I think we will again takes for spending some time with me. I appreciate it. Sorry about the technical difficulties. E. B. I had some I don't forget what it stands for but the guy started like a grocery chain there years ago and she's saying that two weeks are you have to order online you can go to the store it takes two weeks to get your stuff and you have to go there is curbside pickup so I know it's gonna be out of in two weeks I don't know just order first got the babies are ordered lunch Huggies man just got a bunch of that but yeah I get and now they're talking to you just bought a babies they're they're also talking about a possible shortage of like baby wipes because people if they can't find toilet paper what they do they go out and they get they get maybe like one of those guys wipes yeah I got a bunch of dude what I yeah I get you back to those that I I got like four three packs of that you know in those been lasting forever I'm a wide please kinda girl yeah yeah you're the reason that they can't get away lives are give us a shout tell us what you're going through right now eight hundred seven seven one one two five seven two seven five seven nine one two five if you're a small business Colin will pay that for you we have we have no shame will will totally let people know that you're open would you have available right now is so core you're saying you haven't seen tiger king and no not yet copy you have it I don't watch documentaries why dom I Jerica have you watch tiger K. USA now you have so it's she watched tire he know why could chill exotic ones of a prison she likes people in prison but yes I did see it and it was I didn't think I was going to like it at first he kept talking about and honestly that's the only reason why I clicked on it and yeah I wasn't expecting it to be what it that night so who's like who's the we're like in a group right if you had it is he the weirder guy or that guy in South Carolina with the ponytail I think Joe is weird yes yes he creeps me out but he's weird because he makes you feel for him for second year like Arnold but then it turns really quick in your like what a weird al is creepy did you see the guy member the one husband he had yeah I was Mr T. have you seen the latest pictures that I have not but I heard he got he's got a charcoal grill full of teeth the new trump yeah and he's married to a woman not shocking there you go yeah but if the docu series I will say is what six or seven episodes I thought it was maybe eight is it eight eight or nine definitely we're seeing that's totally binge worthy of the hour long episode hourlong yeah that's not bad so yeah that's that's a Sunday yeah easily you do like three for tonight and then do the rest tomorrow I'll probably just finish at all tomorrow yeah but it's it's definitely worth the price of a Netflix account for that's the one thing that has been get everybody through this right now and I was like what are you watching now now this is gone and honestly surprised that they haven't done any like free trials like Hey you're in quarantine here's a two three week are free two week trial I like everyone they could just make all the money right now and that is for your time and I picture doing free trials are they nice and there are seven episodes you're right and then also that just came out okay yeah so I still have three episodes left of last year yes I gotta face said that on the turn on the other side it said dar you either of you is our guys are now I watch things that nobody watches like light hoppy get Shorty on epix the show then no one's talking about it so good and you do watch the godfather of Harlem yeah forest Whitaker was phenomenal the racism was cringeworthy made me angry well you gotta think sixties New York City especially with the mobsters deal with them yeah it was a lot of that all you just made me angry I just hated just how they treated them yeah it was terrible mall comebacks acting was phenomenal generator generator had the same mannerisms same cadence in the way MalcolmX hours watching old mall connect videos afterwards and I literally was like kind of spot on yeah totally totally hands down did a great job with that did you like or hate bumpy Johnson and I was in different times I thought bumpy half for what he had to deal with what he was going through I thought it was phenomenal to fit into his character was phenomenal is here how bad of a person is he I thank him like he's not a good do it but I couldn't figure out name one mobster in the history of all monsters and then I will get shot but if anyone monster that was a good dude I think out of all the ones I've seen on TV he was like the nicest of them yeah I mean I didn't like Winnie I cheated on his wife thousand wasn't because his wife is hot though cash in my car she gorgeous holy demo site check though and not as good as the wife wife is pretty happened she was master of the boxer yes she was and I I thought the mob guys kid was high the odd daughter now did she bother me she was high dues you bother me catchy was hot so if you have a see at American gangster son now godfather godfather hot godfather hall of the American gangster which was the movie does accounts I was just ready bring it up a godfather of Harlem definitely binge worthy definitely watchable hopefully season two out of the next few months so it's not at Bex and what you do is you sign up for a whole week and you get a whole week to watch it and then you forget to cancel and then five ninety nine is taken out of your can easily do it you're like why is five ninety nine taken out of my account you know like I forgot to cancel did you did you watch American gangster all the movie that dents on it I saw it twelve years ago and I got a feeling I'm gonna probably reboot that wash out again so we got online right now mac back from moonlight mac lake mac Hey Mike how are you good item back there are no good ideas I really appreciate that the live radio and in light of what's happening but it's actually you're you're kind of hitting home my my mom who is elderly is up in the NPR actually known as new port Richey yeah and so I do get in about of the town and I don't think people can really fully understand the whole moon lake thing because it is like there's plywood up in front of the house and there are you know thirteen to fourteen fibre glass of that sold that haven't moved in about twenty years easily yeah it's like it's it's a different world there's biker gang there is a different yes this is a walk around during the day yep yep biker gangs you have kids had never been to school day in their life but you know yes definitely interesting that should be the next W. series is right there about moving lately yeah if all the king of moon lakes there is a king of mood like I forget what the guy's name is but there is a person is kind of like run the whole thing it is yeah sting I bet he does his taxes why are you worried about his taxes why try to make offended everyone moon lake copy is a joke yeah Matt gets some it's something that if you haven't been through it even during the daylight if you make it through mood like as you're you're you're not a cost it it's it's a good day I might go there next week do it you might not make it back yeah it's like that scene from the Clint Eastwood movie you know where he's driving the bus that got like all the armor on it from the street yeah you definitely packing when you're driving the yeah that is in no way back thanks for the call that I ship anyway thanks thanks I'm packing twenty four seven who who Aaron packing lunches aired online start by reading about like Aaron Hey did you see that union actually the the movie about the mercury by running Alex got he did a really excellent job even with having a prosthetic in it now given the the Freddie Mercury key yeah I mean a lot of people just under appreciated that have you seen I robot with him in it yes yeah good that's a good series here that's I think what if that had to Caesar three season run down chart but I realized he'd very well don't have a Christian Slater if you had a Corey you're looking at me like I could three sets you say I robot and I instantly think of the Will Smith movie bright yeah exactly but definitely watch okay yet deftly watch as very well done I think very welcoming he's the next up and comer and I think you did a great job in in the film and looked as well now that Hollywood should have to wait to put their coming out on the other side with well yeah when you're talking about them out make performance indicating the timing of how you delivered I mean outlook without very mercury popped in my mind is Declan job in that role D. on the job that they did with that movie when they recreate a Wembley for life it was phenomenal they had it right down to every single mannerism that if you put the two video side by side they didn't miss a beat at all from the from the from the ball around yeah everything everything was like spot on it did a great job with it yeah I am interested in what you know you're all doing a great job out there we can't yet take care thanks bye so yeah if you have you seen making your app so yep yeah I've seen it we watch that account this house number that's right did you watch rocket man yet I was gonna ask if that's worth watching I heard it's not as good it's a different type of movie so it's hard it's just not as wall produced acted directed and so was that one really where they had with that guy Ryan Gosling and he was singing throughout Hollywood and what was all that was all the rage a couple years ago I can't remote so looking at it so it's like if you were to take the life story of Elton John and then all of a sudden song breaks out every land yeah was it yes the la la land lalate exactly so it's like the Cooper's Hill Tradition
"At coopers hill in england for a contest were people chase what food item down along steep hill well each year people gather for a dangerous competition where groups of people run tumble and rolled down a hill to be the first to catch a wheel of cheese the cheese is a seven to nine pound wheel of double gloucester there is some dispute as to why the tradition happens one camp claims it was originally a competition between farmers for the rights to let their cattle graze unlimited land of the area others say it comes from a viking tradition of rolling large wheels often on fire down a hill at the beginning of each spring it's sort of like a cleansing ceremony either way it kind of dangerous but it's also kind of hilarious to watch
