Speaking of Pearl Jam, John, I don't know if I told you this or not. You know, I like to diversify a little bit, and I've been working on an impression other than David Lee Roth. It's like David Lee Roth, where I can only do it if I sing. I can't really speak like this guy. But I want you guys to tell me if this sounds like Eddie Vetter. Okay, really practicing a lot. If you're ready. I'm ready. I know you've been working hard on it, and I know I know pretty excited. No, you're readyto unveil it. "Yeah. I I luckily like, I think it's just the funniest thing that like Atlanta's now a soccer town because like a signature sock yet because we all have just like threw PTSD in like we act like try to act like we don't we've never had a football team. Like, yeah, we're a stored soccer town because we finally we want something that's the most confusing sports in. That's I've witnessed this decade. Was Atlanta becoming have any coming like the Yankees of the? Yes, they rush it in. Yeah. But like there's like seventy two thousand people going. I don't understand what word you're like, really. They've seventy thousand but like ball games in downtown Atlanta, Atlanta, and they're going crazy for it. You don't have to be honest with you, though, people underestimate the in places like the the MLS has incredibly devoted fans in the places where it's popular. Yeah. Like like, you which is more than like ten eleven cities of this year like in Seattle that fan Borland. Portland right there. Yeah. Man. I think Toronto has a big one. I forget about the holiest Cincinnati's pretty good. I think it was. It was C-SPAN been good. It was a perfect storm of like the. Yes, they are. They are goods that clearly helps but it was it happened. Exact same time as the falcons blowing the Super Bowl building a new stadium and the Braves moving out of town. Yeah. It was like it all happened at the exact same time. So be relied on and they were selling like season tickets for like, forty five bucks. I'll get you just like everyone, I know like has some type of season ticket situations. So it's just like a fun thing. There's something weird Atlanta's sports renaissance going on though because the trae young thing and him being like the fourth member of migos. It's amazing. It's like of all the time we're gonna get Zion. So like things happening if they rigged. So the hawks gets on that becomes internet's favorites. You've ever always wondered he'll be able to do does that let me what Atlanta really? A fuck about the hawks though. I don't think they've had a lot of reasons to give a fuck I'm I'm saying because the hawks have had times where they're hawks have been good. I remember like Kevin Willis, Mookie Blaylock days electric. Favorite? But remember time when they were they want a lot. They won a bunch of getting we were a perennial for seed one. Quiz, the most fun for the but that was thirty plus year. Those you are barely alive to jot Smith years in criteria, and they I started Joe Johnson. Someone told him that he was a three point shooter in the franchise fell apart when I met rim in two thousand eleven was that had they signed Jo Johnson who crazy the crazy. Yeah. What he he was in the middle. No, he hadn't. He didn't have the extension yet in two thousand eleven did. I think he was about to get the about to get it. He had it all of a sudden he is making thirty plus Was million. like the highest paid player. Ramos offset said about it. I he's my least favorite person. I cannot say I would like I on one of four people I would just like apps, absolutely, so Putin. And then as I. Oh, yeah. I'm not ranking day. Right. I'm not ranking just putting them in the same list. Yeah. I think Atlanta's had more bad luck than anything. That's how it'd be so much fun. If they got Zion. Because God you you're talking about Dominique's the most fun player in the history of the franchise in he peaked in the late eighties. There's just a dope city is like dope ass city. It's a it's a great city. They love their athletes and stuff like that. It's just a cool city will be to see if they could, you know, be great mass. But it's it's starting to get a little sad. It reminds me of like the way we talk about Dominique it's like the way the MSG networks still plays like won't flake Frazier highlights. Yeah. Because like that's the last time. The Knicks were good. It's like starting to get like, they don't like it at all over Patrick Hyun. Oh, yeah..

"Does it ever happen? It gets cooking at the. Well, so so we won't be then seeing cowboy the kid rock trivia, we'll be seeing and they just won't be here. Jonah asked for ten tickets for him and his father and his family on the whole family from Michigan. It's gonna be a so that's a Janice event. Like like, a kid rock, tribute anatomy, new insult them or Janice. But but that I mean, it seems like Janice stood awful large venue for something. They do. I want to let me check my this isn't I it's going to be the second weekend. But yeah, a lot of times on the weekends. And there's no events. They'll just do free stuff at Janus. There's no there's no cover. They don't charge, but they have seen the Pearl Jam tribute. And jeremy. I think they all are called Jeremy. A solely making that up. Mookie blaylock. So they did a lot of Janus Pearl Jam tribute. I would call it. Either. Kenny Anderson, Derrick Coleman or draws and Petra vich. All teammates of Mookie Blaylock. Mookie Blaylock was the original name of Pearl Jam. So I I I'm never going to be in a jam tribute band. But I have that band named locking. Well, I did find the agents all the tribute band. So if you if you do see one coming to town, I bet I could get them in studio for you. You're welcome. The beastie boys tribute band played within the last year, or so if memory serves correctly, I think they were called something like, no, sleep Tobruk thing. It is. Could get awkward fast. That's what I was thinking. Like, I I like I like spontaneous impromptu, wrapped even a plan rep. If I know I'm going to go up there a pit bull toddler. I don't know what I'm going to wrap about necessarily. But it structured enough to where I do a song, maybe even two and then jump off a whole concert where you're aping some other band the entire time. Is that fun for anybody that? People do covers. I mean, there's has cover bands cover band is one thing, but like pretending you're a band is on another level. This is just a cover band just for one band. But that's pretending. You're a bad. It's just the same. And then if you're pretending you're the pretenders, and that's really weird because that's double of pretending to be many bands, you're focusing in on pretended to be one band that to me takes away. What's charming about a cover band 'cause cover band again? I hate these people toddlers example, but they they're my friends would be up familiarity with them people go because they liked the guys and because they're familiar with the songs, they know they're going to do your love by the outfield, and and journey and stuff like that. But you focus on one artist. And you dress like that artist? And like that that to me seems so weird. It's fun. I've seen very good cover band like like trivia, I've seen good tribute bands. But is it a tribute? For bands like especially for bands that are very flamboyant. And maybe dresses, sir. Yeah. Like, I kiss. I like mini kiss kiss. What about what about a a lady? She's crafty three lady beastie boys tribute group. Oh, yeah. We gotta get them in the studio if unless it's Lena Dunham and a couple of their other unlike Amy Poehler, I know I have to say, no you like you like AB polar Lena Dunham, no, Amy Poehler, but not leaning to love and be polar head. They're both tight with the beastie boys. So I really gross. Or were two-thirds tribute band. Is it makes more sense to me when the bands that they're kind of covering aren't touring anymore. Right. Go see kid rock. I mean, this sounds like fun show on a Saturday night. But I mean, if bands aren't touring her some of their members of path, then that's great you go. See these bands is going to bring back some memories. But kid rock still out there. I would like to think that what this guy's going to do as much like you would have seen in like two thousand because you go see kid rock now like for Seth. And I just don't care to see. Right. We can only hope this will be the kid rock that everybody knows the wrapping kid, right? Yeah. Right. Does he have like Joji with them? Like, it's a it's a mini. Joe see, except he changes the naval a little bit. And he's still alive. Right now. That's a legitimate question. He was a legend man, he battled with a lot of health. I know the health issue. Bitch eighty dollars a day. With a ten foot. You know, what he's gonna slap that ass before he passes Bong? He can go on on and on. I don't know what any of that means all I was asking is does he have Kaczynski's taking it back. The kid rock's heyday. Does he have a fake Josie with them? He's got it. Twisted. What's bats, kid rock's band? So check drummer right has a lady drummer this guy's very legit. You said that stuff. But I just watched the video definitely looks like oh, man. I mean, he's big. But I, you know, listen, I don't know what I see in the morning. My eyes are going bad seventy seven five seven one or two five drew grab alive. Who might you be? This is Scott Scott, my little insulted with your lack of blow for tribute bands were creed cover band. We're called staph infection. You know, what I see you guys? I'm not lying when I say this. It's now it's now ten after two, right? I would love for for three hours and fifty minutes for people to call up with their favorite band only their name for that tribute band or lease favorite band. I think I I don't think I could get sick of that check back with three ten. We'll see I feel about it. I honestly I and maybe I'm being premature. I don't think that I could get sick of that staph infection. That's funny as balls right there. Okay. All right. He wasn't being serious seventy seven five seven nine one zero two five prove me wrong. Prove me wrong. You'll be done with this before to fifteen. I I have an update which is actually no update, which is probably good news for you. I've been on a quest to find a Luke Perry interview that I did. And I would say two thousand six or so he had some movie coming out or something maybe seeing the fifth fifth element. I don't know. Oh, that's the forgotten Luke Perry movie, by the way, and it was a great interview a huge fan. Luke couldn't have been cooler. I I found the external hard drive that it's on. And I turned it over to our buddy, Mike, and engineering who has fixed just about everything that I've ever needed him to fix the drive itself is corrupt it corrupted corrupt, and he's trying to he's trying to rescue it. He's giving it about a fifty fifty shot. He's working on it as we speak. He can do it critical. I have turned my house upside down trying to find a compact discs that I know exists that has written in sharpie Luke Perry on it. I I've been unable to find it thus far. But I haven't given up the search yet. I'll tell you during that search I came to a revelation, and it's a revelation that you all new already and then I had forgotten. And it involves another dearly departed person who the bone family is definitely more familiar with. And that's ralphie. May that was a funny. Mother effort I stumbled upon a segment that he did he was in studio with us one of the times when he showed up because he had a tendency to like mornings that's hard comedians to get up there. And and he and I were talking about Chick-fil-A because just to see his face light up about the golden wheat bun, and man, I was listening to it Latham I asked and I thought, hey, thank God. He's still alive in the form of Mike tortoise. So we can pay homage and be I forgot what a funny funny guy that guy was. When when I was doing mornings back in the day ninety seven next to me. I didn't like having comedians in their unless they were guys like ralphie mayor burp because some comedians hard, just not funny. They're not doing their material, and they would want you to kind of set them up for the jokes. They tell on stage not ralphie just come in there. And he gets riff on anything. You were talking about. It didn't matter. It did not matter. And you know, this is the same way Darrell Hammond who is in the studio with us a couple of times, he you know, he had the impression said he'd on Saturday Night Live. But it didn't matter what you were talking about. Boom. He would he would kill it every time. But man, listen to that stuff looking for the Luke Perry. What a loss, man. So all right, P ralphie, a live low who are you? I love. Slowdown. What? See my thing. If if my favorite band was rush, I would have an all female rush cover band called Neil squirt. See I could take phone calls like that from now until five fifty two when we do give dick arrests you might have to write the material for the callers. Going to be the you tell me your favorite band, and I will decide a clever cover. That's the bit anything that includes putting that much faith in people for four hours. Not me if you will for having too much faith in people, I wanna thank publicly, and I think I found a way I thought of a neat phone would be what kind of a gift you get for a billionaire. You know, what I mean like as megs of makes swig on Saturday mornings here on the bone. Did something really nice for me last night. And he got me seats on the glass. Hell a guy at the at the lightning game. Good friend assess. So I I want I, you know, I wanna do something for them. But you know, the due to billionaire for crying out. Yeah. Yeah. I got the perfect into do for them. All right. What's what do you think? Nothing. Oh, here's what was it. I stayed out at his house with Lisa and his whole family for three days. And I'm thinking, what do I what how do I would get something for their kids? They have every day literally. I just wrote a nice note that thank you so much for letting me stay here that a handwritten note, I figured, hey, that's what am I gonna do for them? That's what I was thinking too. But but I took it a step further. And I thought how do I really thank mix to where he knows my great. I texted him on the way to the game. I texted him at the game and back to you. Oh, yeah. Oh, wow. Man. And and give tickets. Give them tickets talks about you're probably right. So then I thought what is what is really love music. Yeah. Yeah. A framed portrait of himself. With an electric guitar. And I thought man I could I could write a song. Oh, good. God. I could write a song for Don. Mix. What like on the air? Okay. I chords on the keyboard. I know some I know to guitar chords to why don't you do a rap for him. That's what I do wraps for everyone. It wouldn't be special. He doesn't listen to the show doesn't know that you do that for other people. No he would make. I know I want to reach out I want to branch out and do something special. And I I may not be talented when it comes to singing or really playing musical instruments. But I feel like I could be a songwriter. Burt Bacharach you wanna do a jokey kind of parody. I wanna write him a poignant little ditty that lets them. No don't do that good time that I had last night. I was up in the Lexus lounge. Here's what you're looking to do. Let me get inside your. It's very clear your your positioning for playoff to this point for make. So you're thinking. Really going to resonate throughout the playoff dare you. How dare you? Try to cheapen what I'm trying to do for my good friend, Don to whom I'm trying to show gratitude Donald pixel last night every time. Talking about Don, I hate Johnson your relationship with that. But initially I did think he was somewhat of a self absorbed. Douche when I saw when I saw video with all the megs. That's what I I'm just using my own words, most vision that wasn't mixed vision. Right. I can't blame MO for having the vision of makes makes more mix when he should have been showing Haley J, the most beautiful creature that got us created there's no God just getting and and so I I was jealous of your relationship with Mexico, and I lashed out, but as I've gotten to know him, he's a warm gray, gracious gentlemen, and I'm going to write a little ditty. And you're never going to hear it. Good..

He keeps holding it and wants to go back out and work again. Did you win the game? Remember mind. Well, that's all that matters better is in that game. So they thought they could test them 'cause they're like who's this guy who with some fans with the best part was played it to our advantage because that'd be running out the outfield. I said I walk her thumbs up if he grows his bandaged up in the air, which is big as his hand almost. And so they're all thinking, oh, this is going to be easy. Well, the guy round third and Walker hadn't even got it yet and heaters flicks. His gloves off and throws it to me on a rope. Because by this point, I was playing. Catcher caught it. I'm being professional, and then we went into his basement slash man, cave, or whatever and you see his jersey from the inaugural season and the Hornets so coup hanging right there number one. Yeah. Number one. I was that's when I was like man, I got emotional. So I heard if any of you guys know this I heard from a buddy of mine, so I really would love to interview eighty better Pearl Jam's. Lisa fascinates me that. Yeah. And he's a huge basketball fan. They're they are named Pearl Jam you know, whether name Pearl Jam right? No their original name. So. Pearl Jam was spell spawned by mother love bone. Okay. Right. Win win mother love bone kind of transition into Eddie Vedder years of Pearl Jam right? Their original band. Name was Mukhi Blaylock member. Mookie Blaylock lumasoda. Absolutely. Didn't look you Blaylock play with Stacey king and Harvey grant. And all those guys or did Harvey was Clemson her horse was Clemson Horace was Clemson. Okay. Harvey was Oklahoma with with Mukhi Blaylock and has gas. Anyway. So Mookie Blaylock nickname was peril jam. So they go to Pearl Jam. And guess why their first album is called ten look up. Mookie Blaylock jersey number see in in, you know, the grunge crowd at the time for fact because that's got him a we'll house they by trying to break that down. What's that? You God be some dis. Let me know if that was accurate almost positive that everything. I just said is true. When I was in college. It's the university of Tennessee. There was a there was a history of rock and roll class and everybody signed up for it. They're still laughing over here. The ever I signed up for thinking it's going to be like a layup. And that thing was a butt kicker. I mean, it was rock and roll, Mr. rock and roll awesome. I mean, you go in there, and like all tore them people crammed in there, and it was good class. And you think it's gonna be great and it will. But it was a I mean that exam was I mean it was rough like it was like what what question do you? Remember, do you have an example for me? It was like like I will fascinated by it because it was it was a legit history class. Like, I think people thought they were going to go in there. And he's going to be like buddy, Hal is awesome employers by somebody Holly. But then you get in there. And it's not like that at all. And you help us had to be musician to take the class because it was a lot of like how the guitar evolved. And. All right. So we have an update from our boy, Aaron Anderson. Okay. And he says Pearl Jam was originally named Mukhi Blaylock after Mookie because one of the band members was a big OU fan. His people ask them to change their name, and they settled on PJ but name their first studio album ten in honor of Mukhi. So I was right. So Mookie people said emojis people said, please don't name your band. Mookie blaylock. Okay. Speaking of Dell junior there was a bad. No that they're Pearl Jam was his nickname. I swear it. No you. You're so so they'll junior there was a band right when they're Bank, Dale, Dale Earnhardt junior junior junior year. Yeah. I don't think they ended up changing speaking of man, like we like to get into like deep cuts on on when we talked music right on ten my favorite Pearl Jam song ever is release. And it's one that only like hard core Pearl Jam people. No, I saw them play it. We'll my brother-in-law Mike two summers ago. We went and saw Pearl Jam at Fenway. It was awesome. He had this message. Eddie vedder. Had this message that it rebounded so much with me. He was talking about how when they first started out. He pointed across the street, and he said when we started out over there at Hindi named the bar and the whole stadium went crazy. He said we were staying at this Howard Johnson right over here and all we dreamed. How can we get over there? How could we get here to play Fenway park. We had to have a bridge to get here. You are bridge. Oh, man, the place. Went bananas voice ahead. Oh, it was just an awesome moment. That's unbelievable. I mean, it's it's fantastic. They pay us to tell stories. How was that? Yeah. Lovely Moore's wanna go work on weight. But I just don't pay you know, the empire. He was talking about the little short stocky female going crazy years ago. I was playing in the softball tournament. But Andrew would was the guy that everybody thought was going to be Kirk obain cobaine for would have been to probably would have been. I think they would have. I don't think mother love bone could have written smells like teen spirit. So Andrew Wood was Chris cornell's roommate they live together. So when he died, Chris Cornell. Wrote hunger strike about Andrew would. And they were running through it in rehearsal. And Chris was struggling and Eddie Vedder just drifts toward the Mike. Viola counts singing, and Chris Cornell, just wa- goosebumps talking about Chris Cornell walked away from the mic and Eddie just took over and sang that whole fucking thing standing there. That's the first time in Seattle. It's the first time that he meets those fucking wild. It's incredible really wild. I think I hear that serve in PJ twenty-five. It might have been helpful. Yeah. Our is appear twenty or twenty five twenty or I think it's twenty but there's the other the other one how fucked me I just had the most brain farting. That's funny. God damnit. But that's that that whole, you know. Oh, I remember. It was the video. They have in that film where the show Eddie getting angry for the first time. Like, he starts is this first performance line, Pearl Jam or in in Mookie Blaylock. And he starts his like hiding his face behind his hair, and you can tell he's really shy. And then like something happens in the crowd that makes him angry, and he starts doing and doing that. And that was like the first time he ever did that rally rally. Yeah. Now, he's you know, like the thing is that I very I don't like grunge because I'm not a blues guy. I don't like music that's grind Deon, grungy and made to make you feel like you're fucking heroin. But you know, Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder was a fucking surfer guy from San Diego. So it's a completely different thing that he being brings into it. Which is you know, why he's not one of the tragic stories of grunge like when I finished the show, and I play finished the Chris Cornell Soundgarden show by playing hunger strike, and then I bring up the photos of all of the characters left. He's the only one left, and if you look at it like even down to, you know, stone temple pilots like every single character who from back to Andrew would every single one is a tragic story. And it's the only musical genre ever where the principal players of all died grunge every news. There's no like Eddie. There's no the guy from fucking Candlebox like. You know what I'm saying? Like that. Maybe the third generation photocopy grunge is still the original five riders of the apocalypse. It's the equivalent of like of if you had like, you know, if if James Metallica died, and what's his name from anthrax died and fucking what's like, all of the main thrash, all those guys survive all those guys are still gonna why because they're all. Not heroin. You can survive Bud Light barely g Edgar Meister and Bud Light. You can't make the other side cats heroine Mary of questions. Anyone wanna talk about cars tonight? We do you guys talk about cars for a little bit your, okay? I don't wanna I don't wanna I I will talk about music for. We don't have to talk about music, but. So the aerobics flying disc ring that same company French press or the press rush air is a French press. But better, but quicker and quicker, but it does have waste which French press doesn't because the little paper filter. Oh, it does use one tiny round piece of paper. That is totally those of us who are environmentally conscious. We do burnouts exactly. Have you gone immaterial all leaked outs? Get it's good. Yes. Getting. "I've heard that because it's been so shop nonetheless hundred million dollars to leave me Dave Grohl has the most amazing life on planet earth at this point like him and fuck and Taylor are magicians for what they've pulled off. Like there was a Taylor decided he wanted to be a singer at the Chris Cornell concert, dude, he didn't do great. I love the man I love Taylor Hawkins drama for the east on the drums. Didn't do a great. Chris Cornell impression nobody could do a great, Chris except for Miley Cyrus. So you'll be beer. So the here's the fucking great thing about the the foof is right. So they play Wembley stadium and stadium is ninety thousand people. They sell it out three nights in a row. So the final night of the fucking show on comes the remaining members of Led Zeppelin John Paul Jones guitar player guy, and they they play a Led Zeppelin song and Dave Grohl plays draw Taylor plays drums Dave Grohl sings and then they switched and then Dave to play drums and Taylor got the fucking sing in front of ninety thousand people. Yeah. That at the forum when I saw him last year as ING like that. My opinion of it is tainted because he was attempting to do Chris Cornell, which nobody can do nobody can did. So that song do. I don't you know, it was some fucking beside. It was all like it was all like. They played by the way for those. Who are not fuck. I'm talking about talking about the Chris Cornell like memorial concert at five hour forum. It was five hours. It was forty two songs. Yeah. And I had the sweaty person you've ever seen your in your whole life next to me. It was the worst seat to have five right behind the soundboard though. Nice. And so like fucking everybody was there. So like, foo fighters Metallica was there every band Chris Cornell played in like audio slave was their temple the dog minus Eddie Vedder who did anybody do hunger. Strike. Yeah. They did hunger strike. Well, it was the temple of the dog band. And the the Chris Cornell part was brandy Carlisle awhile who who did pretty well two. And who sang the other part of it. It's a bum that didn't show I hoped Eddie. Did. I'd was going to stone and Matt Cameron, right? And Jeff Amen were there. So it's not like they had a Pearl Jam date. They didn't have a pro to any might have had a solo date. I Don, I don't know, you know, like a lot. Maybe I don't know. But there was a lot and Soundgarden performs well, and they played a bunch of hits. And I'm like a fan, but I'm not like a deep into the cattle, but they also played a bunch of devious. Well, it's the musicians Trach. I mean, so it it was just fine. But it was fucking the food fighters. Three nights in a row, you get three different sets. No. You don't I don't believe. That's why love Pearl Jam ten nights in a row. Ten what nails did nine inch nails? Did they got to you know, on this last toy just decided instead of doing like, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang do five dates in each city, and they had sixty songs that they would pick from. So each set was each night was completely Everett set. Yeah. The crazy thing about temple of the dog is that hunger strike is the first recording that Eddie Vedder mate. Before they recorded ten. Yeah. I remember that he had actually flown to Seattle for the Mookie Blaylock audition and ended up being in the Rizza such sixth Ori, Mike, quite possibly explain. Why wasn't there? They were in the rehearsal room. And that song is written the I'm really proud actually there. Couple of shows that I'm proud that. I do and the the one that I get to do for for Chris Cornell is one of my favorites because I get to bring it all back to Andrew wouldn't Android mother love bone like the first guy to really that mother love bone, invents grunge..

Second steel tonight for the Quincy Rideau his fifty sixth of the year thirteen away from USF single season record. Unbelievable. It's nothing new for him two years ago Gardner Webb at one hundred. Foul shot. Good. No. He looks like and plays like four your old heads out there. Mookie blaylock. All Atlanta, hawk get right up in your small, tough wouldn't take anything from anybody played in an era where guards really like, Michael, Jordan and all those guys rule. But yet he was still a league leader. Second foul shot. Good. He's a fifty percent free. Throw shooter is six for six tonight. Twenty three points for Reto sixty three fifty eight Cincinnati cane. But as promised we are joined right now by a guard for the Portland trailblazers three-time all-star in all NBA first teamer he was the twenty thirteen rookie of the year, a recipient of the November NBA cares community assist. Award twenty five points, six assists, six rebounds in Tuesday's win over Sacramento. Casey is at Portland tomorrow. Ten thirty PM eastern we are joined by Damian Lillard Damian happy new year. Great to have you on. How're you? Go. Well. An awesome intro though. Give me that it was an awesome intro. Matt's. Like, I don't even get to say out tro. Anyway, I'll try and reset that for you. I don't know. Maybe Dame heard Matt and said, oh, hell, no. I'm not doing this. I'm not gonna follow that guy. No way. Am I going to follow that guy? In any event, we will recover scramble find Daming lowered who's having another huge year, and again, the recipient of the November NBA cares community assist award. My man is an all star on the floor and off it. I know that sounds trite. But it's true. Definitely true. And I've got back your joined right now by Damian Lillard, Damian happy new year. How are you? Happy new year. Good good, man. This your little bit under the weather. So I really appreciate making the effort today. You're coming off a win on Tuesday night where you might not have been feeling your best. But you battled you scored seven of the teams final nine in regulation including the bucket to tie the game. And then you put it away and overtime. So what's a win? Like that on the road in a tough spot say about this team. I mean, I I it just shows are character. Rose really a collective where for us. We didn't play a great game. But I think the first ruler not president. We played. Pretty consistent. We had a third quarter. But we just showed who we are. The road. The team will play really well at her make comebacks Lakers. Play said, we just turned away journey. Damian Lillard is my guest last week. You went to Oakland and you play the warriors in Oakland for the final time as somebody who is from Oakland. What was it like to go back there for the final time before the team moves on a San Francisco? What was that night? Like. There's always a pleasure to me. The drawback is the player. Family of friends every time I come there. So large group of people who are watching Kobe weight or see me after the game. So that's great feeling. You know by yourself. It you notice defendant chips or to win the way we did. It was a great way to to finish. Played rita. Oh, my favorite topics. Some of the great guards that came out of Oakland. You Jason Kidd Brian Shaw. Gary Payton, there's been so many used to go to warriors games back in the day. And there weren't especially good at that time. So the legend has it you and your brother and cousin pretty much had a full run of the place because there just weren't that many fans there what were those days like in what we're warrior players wore some of the players. Do you remember from that era? It was it was different. It was it was very much different than it is now. Me and my brother or cousin after Jay. We will go walk through the tunnel. We didn't have like that. We will walk through the turtles being the back. What I know now because of the player with the the room that we would always end up here with the media route. There would be like food is hot though, nothing there. After the day. We would just walk back there every day. Eaten? Sodas out of there. And then we will keep walking around the back, and we would end up. Walking out where the players walk out of the locker room. So we would just get autographs, and it'll be like foil. Mookie Blaylock layers. You know, combing toady Forber Kerry coming. Davis. Around that, Bob, sir. John starks. It was like around that time. But I remember every day. We did the same thing. So I mean, it was it was much different than it is there. That's incredible. That's incredible. That you would see guys like that at that age that you had a free run of the place. But man, I feel like I'm aging out Damian because guys like that I used to put on the show, man. Anton Jamison, he was a great guy. Bobby Sora used to come on the program. Terry comes with a cool due to. They were all good, dude. They were they were they also so. We will walk out and like they were literally working right out of the locker room going into the parking lot that they've parked. And we would just stated there's just three. They just thought it was cool. Do you remember that? I'm not actually that made impression upon you. They all signed like a lot of fans know about the work that you've done in schools with the respect programme supporting anti bullying work, as well increased independence developing a more positive coaching among students that said there's a lot of stuff that you still do away from the spotlight that nobody knows about. So when you went to those games, and these guys signed, you remember that you looked up those guys, what's it means you now to know the kids look up to you and allies you and they're gonna remember when you stop and sign. I mean, it means a lot in it, nor there was times where I've met players or outside of that environment that didn't sign. You know, I didn't hold a grudge against the maybe one or two times. I was like man that was messed up. But you know, I understand what it means that people don't get. Goes a long way it doesn't take too much. But you know, sometimes, you know, maybe you at dinner and you turn enjoy time with your family. I know I I understand both sides. But don't cross a ninety ninety five percent of the time. I try to guide us nowhere to go. The extra mile for somebody to go outdoors. Don't meet a lot to say. So, but you know, I want to ask you who wouldn't sign who is the one guy who would sign you're not gonna tell me tell you. I remember I was in a bay fair mall. Me my dad, and my brother. Joe Smith was own worst. And he was in a mall in he was walking in the mall. And my dad was like can read like look there goes Joe Smith and being my brother spread it over there with him, and what do would have. I was I cannot get a pitcher. Can I get autographed as far? He just looked at me. Be just turned his head like be really even in really acknowledging what it was. It was like now right now. My dad like trying to stay back in my brother, just like other grab you look go garbage. Anyway. In my brother. Love's Joe Smith. So would you say that I knew he was just saying if you could? Ah? But with like that was like early route. Wow. Dude. I'm so glad you showed that story. I'm not sure Joe Smith is. But he's getting what he deserves. I mean, come on man take the picture now. I love his love his guy going numb and not now not now we're gonna Wetzel pretzels men. Can't you see that we're in the mall come on, man? Take the picture that the raise the roof years. We thereby by love, Justin. I know. Right Damian Lillard joining us capped off last week's game in Oakland with that twenty six footer over Steph curry six point three seconds left in overtime to get the win. I mean, it's not like you haven't hit big shots before. But that shot in Oakland over that guy for the wind had that one feel. Feel good. I mean, I like I said to be the last game. I'll go play in Oakland. Matt arena. The best team in the league or regain that we needed to win. Just the timing of it the team we was playing in you know, it being my hometown you. But I think that makes all even better so north. Oh, great. When talk about hitting shots under pressure gaming lower. My guests. Did it so many times have done it? So many times there's now name for its Dame time it's something that you've done over and over again since you got into league is it something you can train for and prepare for was that ability to kind of remain calm under pressure is something that somebody is born with or is it a combination of both. Oh, no. I don't know if you could work on it. I think you can really work or your game. So the point where you just believe in it so much. I think that's what I've done. I know in my heart that I really really work, must've heart. So I really believe that it. Just knowing that I really worked on it also helps me failures on notice. Sometimes you just not gonna make you know. But I know that I'm doing I'm giving myself the best chance to be acceptable. So I can live with you know, if it doesn't go my way, so that when I don't make those shot, you know, it does break me down or make me lose confidence. Order the game progress. You will it doesn't make me feel any way about taking those last shot. So I think that's what it comes down to just you know, what you do to make yourself believe. And I believe in my work believe in what I'm capable of. So I can I can deal with the failure of nothing. You get to the point where you can do with the failure to you. You have a lot of success Damian low my guest playing a little bit under the weather Damon. You sound great today. I know you're not feeling great. But you sound great. So I've gotta ask you your big on nutrition. You're big on eating clean. If you're not feeling. Well, what some good Goto get well grub? I mean. Green tea or we chicken noodle. What do we do? Me yesterday. I had about three or four big bows chicken noodle soup or. But it for me yesterday. It was like I said chicken noodle soup. I just try to keep fluids was reading curb rose news over zoos out of water. I was drinking a different t. Heavy hot toddy. Dude, you're you're legit. Your legit sick, man. You are legit sick. Did did it work. Because I so terrible days ago or not do you know, what I'm so sick right now, but I feel much better than I do. So you're getting better. I and I'm not gonna keep long last night. Did you say hot toddy, you the whiskey the whiskey do what kind of whiskey? Sure. My girlfriend picked it up. She picked up a bunch of stuff. She looked up how to make it. So. I trusted her with that one. So is that better than the chicken noodle had to be right? Yeah. It was perfect. It was perfect perfect Selassie month. My last question for you. You broke out. The Adidas Dame five with the Chinese New Year. Caller way. Who'd I've talked in the past about how much pride you have the fact that you've got that signature shoe. What's it like now getting to the Dame five how much do you take an entire line? I think a lot of pride, and you know, anytime something represents you were has her name ordered up got to have a lot of pride. A lot of care. Would I feel about happening signature shoe? Part of that is, you know, keep on doing the things that allowed you to have it.
