"But shouldn't game changing series turning to run home runs be a get on my back and follow me moment. And twice the Dodgers have recovered, have gotten those home runs and been like, let's lose. Like, it's just weird. It is weird. And look, we'll keep talking about the Red Sox. Complementing the Red Sox, the Red Sox have say what you want. Traded Mookie betts great. Guess what? They went out and they got guys who had chips on their shoulders and had personalities that that really put them over the edge and allowed them to perform in these big game situations. KK Hernandez, why did he leave the Dodgers? He wanted more playing time. He wanted a starting role. He was ready to start playing Morgan. And it was hard for the daughters to incorporate into him into their plan because of the depth that they had. And the Red Sox were like, great. We'll take a chance on a guy who wants to play who wants to know him from team PR. And then you look at you look at a guy. I know Chris sale obviously is was acquired a long time ago, but, you know, that's an ace that that's a great personality to have at the top of your rotation who's yelling who I know it's annoying to me. I hate it. But he clearly moves the needle for that team in that motivation regard. You look at Alex Quora, very outspoken guy, supports his players also, is it afraid to be honest in candid? He's the opposite of Aaron Boone. I know, I know we're mostly talking about players right now, but that also that also goes hand in hand with influencing the culture and whatnot. So I think I do think it's valid and I think the big problem a big problem with the Yankees is they're just looking at numbers. Great. Who hits home runs? Who gets on base? Who has a high spin rate? Okay, bring them in, cool. And then you have a roster of robots. I love Aaron judge, but like, Aaron judge, you didn't start saying like cool stuff until like the final week of the season. "Disney for doing something super cool. You guys we talked about the thirteen marines who tragically pass on august. Twenty six so. One of them was from india hunter to be exact and he was a huge star wars fan. Two years ago he went and built his own. I'm not a huge star. Wars like the lifesaver things and he told his mom came. Mom if you know. I would wanna be buried with this. You know when he create like when he made it so when he passed away his mom said she could not just buried leashes. She's like this is my baby's thing he loved it. I wanna keep it so they actually a set something up so they could privately go and built a replica so they can lay to rest with him and once the Club thirty three which is an exclusive club in disney executive. Found out that they were there. They pulled the us flag from disney and quickly like within ninety minute turnaround created a plaque for them. So they can keep it because he loved disney so much. That's pretty awesome. That that is very nice. So that is what you need to know. Brought to you by morongo casino resort and spa. Good times the ninety minutes from wherever you are all right. So this list lindsey. You were the one that found this list about the dodgers. The most hated team in major league baseball. Now i get that. They're winning right. And they're the defending champs and all that stuff usually comes with that. But i don't get the sense like you know that. The dodgers are this team that people really hate nationally. Now i know the giants fans adam that teams in the west hate him. I didn't even in the national league. I could see certain teams hitting them. But i just don't feel like they get the vitriol that like for example the yankees get everywhere. They go you know. I don't think they do. But i think people are jealous of them and that's what the hatred comes from. Because i don't think there's anyone on the dodgers necessarily aside from trevor bauer. He's an exciting to this the rest of the group. yeah yeah. everyone's really likeable. I feel like most people generally speaking fans. It's just like the players but the team is a team people like. Oh those guys just have unlimited money to stare they just by the way to a championship. That's how people look at it. That's what i think it is. I think you're so right. Look if you were to say to somebody that doesn't know the dodger roster that says i just hate those guys and you go well. Why and they say well because they're from la they're all hollywood. They've got all the money to spend. They can buy a whole bunch of players. They win every year. This is the way people outside of. La would perceive the dodgers by the way. George i think the dodgers are many people's west coast version of the yankees. I think the dodgers are people's dallas cowboys teams. That you love to hate. But i will say this. If you're really really get to know the dodger roster and take it from me. Somebody who's been a padre supporter for the better. Part of twenty years is a very likeable group of people. Very frankly max munchies and underdog guy who has become a superstar. Justin turner is a guy that i think of as being like a heart and soul kind player on this team. What mookie betts did the other day. Everybody's seen this. I'm sure on social media if you weren't watching the game in cincinnati. Some kid hits a home run his first home run of his career. The fans in left field or holding onto the ball. Mookie is literally negotiating yeoman. Give me that ball back. That's his first home. Run guy man. i'll keep the bowl. Hey i'll tell you what. I'll bring you assign. Mookie betts bat. You just give me that ball. So i can give it to that kid who just hit that home run. That's a likable thing to do. I just think that the dodger players and their stories make them likable. The la or the dodgers on the front of the jersey and the payroll makes them hate -able to most people outside of dodger fans is someone who is you know grew up not grew up a raised. A bunch of padre fan. So i see that look i did the i get the teams in the national. Even i don't know maybe i'm just wrong because to the point that we have discussed right likable players. Now laura. you're a huge dodger fan and you travel a ton of places to go. Watch them play. Do you get the sense. That other teams fans disliked the dodgers. No i mean. Sometimes they hate the fans because some rowdy right but the actual players are the team no like when we were in cincinnati and we were walking around cincinnati with our dodger gear. A lot of people are like man. I really like your team. But they were say. I hate that. I like your team. Because they don't wanna like the team that just whoop there. But but we are especially. Mookie like i love. Mookie a love mookie and justin turner so this guy in particular we were walking and he was just speaking great things about the dodgers and the organization itself and to me. It's like i think is just what lindsey said. We're good so people hate that but they don't actually hate the team. No but here's the thing when you're in kansas city when you're in tampa bay when you're in oakland you look at teams like the yankees and the dodgers and you think to yourselves. We as a fan base. Our team will never be able to compete with those guys. Tampa has stepped up and has competed against the dodgers. Kansas city wanna world series. Not that long ago..

"Great baseball player nine time. All-star a world series champion. He's been on the show before. Gary sheffield gary. Welcome to the ira. What's up guys doing doing gray. And don't forget chris. five hundred nine home runs. And that's a magic number as gary knows with me. So he gives up by hall of fame vote every year man to be able to get that many home runs in the big leagues is incredible but today is hall of fame day. Do you watch. Is it hard to watch or pay attention to or not You know like. I said i. I really don't watch baseball. You're not coaching Coaching these travel ball teams. And things like that so you know the way. The game is play. You know stopped my favorite way to watch a game so you know. I say that. I don't watch any of it. Then i'll be telling you a lie. You know i. My china would stop on it sometime when i see bias hit or i see guys that you know. Trout hit bryce harper hit. See these guys up there. You know i want. I'm interested in Their at bat. And mookie betts. And when i see these guys like that then i may stop and watch but you know watching a complete game trying to be entertained by the game you know. That's not me you gary. Robb mentioned the five hundred nine homers. You also closed at three hundred to ninety two for your career. What is your feeling on why you are in the hall at this point like because obviously those numbers are certainly hall of fame worthy. Well you know all through my career. When i look back on it and you know when you retire you always look back at things down with what things you said things done. I don't regret anything. I'd say it done. You know that was just my personality. That was me being me. And i don't regret that you know. The bottom line is when i see awards handed out when i be listening to certain guys who won. Mvp certain guys who've done this and done that. I look at their numbers and look at my output a or number next to their mvp sees and in that case. I should have twelve. And so we're not see these things. It's almost like you sit here and you move the goalposts every time when you say oh well you you. You're not gold glove because you ain't hit enough or you're not the mvp because you didn't. You didn't feel good enough. Well i did all those things in nineteen ninety two. You know i was. I was out for triple crown. I may fourteen errors but the guy can't the third base and had twenty one air. Then he wind up getting a little gold glove and barry bonds wind up winning. Mvp so they moved the goalposts so then they bonds have more solar basis at me. That's why he got it. So that's all i still in beijing. I thought doing all these things then. Oh he's on a losing team. So i haven't heard it all you know so like i said i'm the type of personality were as long as i know what it is..

"Wrc plus their offense they are if you exclude pitchers second and third in baseball with the dodgers just slightly ahead of the giants in both behind the astros if you look at defensively like defensive efficiency. The dodgers have the highest defensive efficiency in the majors majors. That means they've converted. The highest percentage of balls and play into outs than the astros than the giants. But if you look at like other defensive metrics with the dodgers all over the place. And i don't know whether that's something you've noticed or whether that is just a function of how the dodgers play defense. But if you look like on baseball savant outs above average. The dodgers are at negative eleven. Which is twenty third in baseball if you look at team. Ucr for instance. The dodgers are twenty-seventh. Somehow maybe that's just because a lot of shift plays are getting thrown out entirely. I don't know if you look at like defensive. Runs saved their kind of both ninth tenth ish. The dodgers are really good defensive team or is it that they've had good pitching that has allowed field. Appalls her is it just like really hard to quantify it other than just looking at. How many calls and player that turn into out because they're shifting so constantly yeah. I don't think they're like you know top three in defensive efficiency. Good on defense. They're they're clearly worse than the last few years. I think losing. Pk hernandez helped. He was sort of the glue either at second base or whatever outfield position. He was at he would. He was seemingly good everywhere. This year has been weird at times. Like i think cory seager since he's returned as Better defensively but he was pretty awful. In the first part in gavin lux was also bad at short but they missed a good chunk of time. With cody bellinger. Not the outfield. Mookie betts as miss time. So i think that's sort of played into it. muncie maximums. He's been really get it first and second which was which is which is kind of surprising. But it's been a weird a very weird year defensively. I do think they just you know they shift very well. They get a lot of like soft contact some. It seems like sometimes that that might that might hurt them against the shift or something but I think i don't know they don't strike me as particularly excellent defensive team but they're probably maximizing what they have with the various shifts and and placement of guys.

"And a lot's gonna change depending on September and October. 'cause I don't know. Maybe they lose the wild card game. And a complete implosion feels necessary. Maybe they go on a magical run in Jewish Ella is the ALCS MVP. They're probably not trading with that peak as much as they'd like to. Honestly, it's ridiculous, but the small sample size of September and October are probably going to affect this team's next steps more. And then you want them to. Maybe they wouldn't for a ruthless asshole team like the Red Sox who, you know, Red Sox propaganda in full force. Again, as they choke away every bit of their lead, I still saw a lot of hunter Renfro as outperforming Mookie betts takes on Tuesday. Yeah, have them fucking both losers. You could have both. You could have both players. I think an asshole team like the Red Sox would not look at the narrative and would just go and start stripping bear. It doesn't matter who the ALCS MVP is. If we're gonna have a confusing fit for him on the roster in 2024, then he's gone. But I do think the eggies are gonna look at that. And I do think, you know, or shalla is more likely to be the odd man out and then they use a combination of like Wayne Velazquez on the bench next year, move labor to second move DJ to third, mess around, you know, extending or extend Rizzo, keep boy, whatnot. I think the next month that I have is going to matter. But as of now, I do think Velazquez probably the first man off the roster for Torres and they're using him now to use him as long as they have him. Yeah. It's unfortunate, but we hopefully have better guys coming back. Hopefully we're Torres got the rest that he needed to kind of get back on track. We still have not seen what we needed to see from him this year. Maybe that now that's going to be something that you have to watch in September because are they going to want to go into the playoffs with a shaky labor shaky defensive glaber if he doesn't look good over the last three weeks of the season at short?.

"Healthy kershaw hasn't pitched since july third because of inflammation in his pitching elbow and isn't expected to restart is throwing program until next week at the earliest. It might not have been enough time to build up a trend traditional starters workload by the end of the regular season. Mookie betts meanwhile was placed on the injured list again on wednesday with lingering pain in his troublesome hip which prompted a return back to los angeles with to visit with the specialist. The dodgers are definitely deep enough and talented enough to succeed without those guys but perhaps not if they want to catch the giants now for some reason. The giants are just the best best team like ever. It feels like it doesn't make sense when you look at their roster and you look at the dodgers roster or you look at the mets roster something like that. Obviously the mets have been hurt. And the dodgers haven't really been that all that much either but oh my goodness like. The dodgers team is so talented. I just don't see how anybody is going to be able to beat them at number two. We have the san francisco. Giants seventy three and forty one as their record. Kris bryant batted three fourteen with a three eighty five and three eighty five on base percentage. Any five fourteen. Slugging percentage in his first nine games with the giants. Excuse me and he spent the majority of that time playing third base. That's not going to be so necessary. Moving forward with evan longoria activated off the i l. After missing more than two months with a shoulder injury the giants position player group is now full strength which is a very huge rarity at this point in the season and now when bryant's versatility is really going to start paying dividends for a team that has proven to be as good at optimizing matchups. Bryant also can help the giants in left field center field and first base and we'll do so to remain in order to remain in the lineup..

Know to a super bowl. Get to go to a world series game get to. I mean it's all in those and by the way if you get a job like that if you have a job like that Take the time to enjoy it because it won't last and you won't always be able to keep it for for a ton of different reason. Yeah yeah but while you have it. Enjoy it because not everybody ever gets. Get to job. And you know sadly i think a lot of our the average american probably has got to job. Yeah the average person has got to so i. You know. I've got to work that night. Lindsey you you still believe even though you work with me you still believe you a get to job right. "This is courtesy alden gonzales. Mookie betts superstar outfielder received an injection. That helps subside. Some of the pain in his troublesome right hip although he is not currently partaking in any physical activity bets has got a bone spur in that hip dodgers manager. Dave roberts revealed that today but the dodgers hoped to put off any surgical procedure if one is even required until the off season. Dave says we're trying to figure out the best way to get them back to us and through the season once we get to the off season we'll address the injury so it sounds like the dodgers are intent on keeping mukhi healthy or at least available for down the stretch and into the postseason despite the bone. Spur in the hip. Yeah can't decide if this is good. News or bad news seventy. It's not great news. I mean mookie. Betts has got a bone spur in his hip. That's not good right. The question i have. If i'm him is it manageable correct He actually in august was pretty good. He hit three eighty three homers four. Rbi's in five games. When he was activated in august. I but the paint sent him back to the d. l. or call it anymore the injured list. Yeah the forty. Seven games left boy a bone. Spur can't imagine that a cortisone shot or some type of shot would keep that paying away for long can you. You know. I don't know enough to be able to say what's what i took. His encouraging from this story is that david said trying to figure out the best way to get them back to us in through the season it sounds like the dodgers are hopeful that he will be available. Maybe even he's not had a mookie like year. This is not if you look at the season. Mookie betts has not had a great season for the dodgers in that story that you cited or this is mike di giovanni yup he says the injury usually requires surgery so obviously surgery would end is season of course so i guess it's a good thing that he's going to try and play through it. I just wonder how effective it'll be. Yeah i guess. I'm i'm sliding gooky a little bit on this season. He's bat in two seventy seven overall. Seventeen homers forty four. Rbi's he's got seven stolen bases. He's gone on base average of three seventy eight. Which for a leadoff guys fantastic. And he's got an eight ninety. Nine eight nine nine is a really good. Opic so even though. This isn't a mookie superstar breakthrough gigantic season. It's still a really good season. His they hate when. I do numbers on the show. But he's well above replacement level. Just the average outfielder in major league baseball so they can absolutely use them back. And if you get that lineup. Filled up with him and with trae turner in the lineup. Now with cory seager back. With muncie still playing really. Well i think. I think you could make a run at the giants and it scares me the the prospect of a play in game with the with the giants. We're now five games back. They've got an easy series. This weekend with colorado would not be surprised to see them. Sweep the rockies. And we've got a pretty tough series this weekend with the mets although we do through. Es tonight bueller tomorrow ensures her on sunday so the pitching breaks in our favor before. We come home to face. A really bad pittsburgh team on monday. So i think every game is must win john thanks. That's absolutely ridiculous. But if you want to catch the giants you must win all right so i was just thinking about something show. Tiny is going to win the american league. Mvp hands down. Who's gonna win the nationally mvp. What's the first name that comes to my mind. The first thing that popped into my head was to teeth but he's missed a lot of games. Yeah bryce harper has kind of been like back around again. You was having a career. Year is Nick casting for the reds gigantic year. But it's not a very good team it okay. Is it ridiculous to suggest. Trae turner would get votes. Yes would it be ridiculous. I mean they have ten spots on the ballot so it wouldn't be ridiculous. Don't they have ten spots on the ballot or the hall of fame junior for nazi mukunu junior private guys. I just looked it up. they both. We'll have forty forty seasons. Most likely i would imagine if you go. Forty custody janos to maybe on that. Yeah castanos also but tease playing in high leverage games might be peace here might be his year Yeah but i think every one of these games is critical. I wanted to get to something that you sent Today john actually will do it coming up next for you by the way we're talking i wanna do. The ernie johnson thing coming up next had some really good stuff. He said to the alabama football team. Now you say your friends are convinced that i am going to beat you and i am convinced that i am going to lose in our head to head golf match up on september the tenth. That black old. Well all you have to do you. Average a seven on every hole just average even on the par threes. You'll win if you just sixty three. You'll win yesterday. i shot. I played on the par-three executive course at rancho park and i kept scores legit. Okay i shot sixty seven so that sixty seven with all par threes. Now no longer than one hundred and forty yards. So if if you were able to shoot sixty seven when we play then i would be a real course. I've never even a real. That would be so it would be twenty. I would have to shoot forty one to tie you. That's a pretty good score nuts. If you think. I'm gonna shoot a sixty seven on a real course whoa here. Here's what i'm saying. I think i'm gonna shoot between forty and fifty. Okay so let's let's just say for the sake of argument i shoot forty five and i think i'm gonna shoot eighty to one hundred if i shoot forty five. I'm done all.

"He was still a huge deal to me. I like i like dealing with him when he was here. Fewer to buy a dodgers jersey. What what who's jersey would would either by a mookie betts jersey or kenley jansen jersey tenley janssen. Yeah the howard guy man. i love kenley. i'm telling you. I am a hundred percent on board. I think he has i. I've talked to him since he's blown a couple of those saved and stuff. He's fine totally fine. The whole stuff with blowing the and getting booed and everything he he's like i feel like i prepared for this like. That's all the work that i did. Anything getting booed was not pleasant for him. He is not. he doesn't appreciate. He overreacted to it like he's fine. It just let me know that all the mental work that i've done it was worth it because i'm able to handle this kind of a stretch. He's like his baseball man. He first of all in that first inning where he got boo remember they one we got he did get to out. And that ain't right right there he's fine. There's little spots in the in the baseball season. We're going to blow some say it happens. I'm not worried about one bad week. I'm not worried about him. You know. I think mentally kenley. Jansen isn't a better place than he's probably ever been and physically think he's a he's still got enough i do too. He's still got enough. You know we're along. I know we are alone on kenley island. It's lonely here. This is the same people who tweet mean things. It's fine all. They are the same people who tweet me things. They're yelling out the car window in the second kenley has like a really good save. A big cliff always believed in you. Stop this is hang on a second. Laura doesn't tweet me. Tweet me things but there's times where i'm like i love you. I love you kenley. I trust you. Sh- mu- he was great year. Get one bad week. just relax. i have a bad week. Oh you have a bad week. I have a bounce relax. He had one bad week. Blue three saves in one week. That's a live stock. It's not it's really not a lot for the league. Closer that happens. You're gonna you're gonna have a couple of bad games. i guess for me. It's more like what we're accustomed to. You know even with the lakers. We're like you always win. We're just like we're city champs. And i think that when they do have those moments and those pockets of having their band wagon and no. I've been a fan forever but it makes you nervous you now so deal with your nerves. That's it you don't have to like turn on people like i. I could not believe dodger. Fan booed him was upset. I was like this this look. This reflects poorly on our city. I like the that you've got to be better fans in that. I if it's up to the manager like you don't need to boo. You're he's a hall of fame closer. Yeah you doing your own players that is never have that was if somebody if i went with somebody who went to a game and they boo kenley jansen. After like one bad inning. I would i would not be their friend anymore. I agree. I don't like it's not even a personal thing we'd be like you do not boo hala fame players for your team. You'll boo kershaw. Got boo boo kershaw. Yeah you're not you're you're dead to me. You had such a tough job. Such you know. If if i get a dodger if i was to buy a dodgers jersey. You know who who. I'm a huge fan of and who i think is like the one of the clutch hitters. We've got is will smith you get to me. We'll smith i you for a jt guy. I would have thought you were great. Jt great. i'm ben. I'm betting on the future. I think the wolves good. That'll be good for the next ten years. I mean for. Mookie betts is the he is so good or bad year. I don't care he's he's a layer. "'cause they used them a lot in some of those guys historically have not been great the longer they go it is weird it it that they have it but sometimes this is how it works at. Sometimes it's hashtag. It's baseball greg. What is the stat that you have as far as the dodgers every time there within a game or whatever. It is of first place the last seven times. The dodgers have been had a chance to either tie or take the division lead. They have lost the last seven times. And so there's no nervousness at all you still have one hundred percent confidence they're gonna win the division correct and they're going to be back in the world series. Yes okay. I just want to remind you so one thing. Just hear me out sure. This is the exact same confidence that you had in the lakers correct. Yeah a little bit different just because of the sports but at the same time. The dodgers the second best record in baseball. They have injuries to cory seager. They have injuries to mookie betts. Whose missed the last five games. Cody bellinger is not hitting his weight. It's there is a lot of problems that are happening on this team. Mac months he's about to leave to go be with his wife so there's just a lot that's all happening here and there's a lot of injuries that have happened that they are going to be fine within what way i would argue that in basketball now granted. It works both ways right There's more control because less players have a real impact. You know what i'm saying like whereas with baseball you need a lot of guys to have an impact to be able to pull it off and win and again that can be a double edged sword because as we saw with brandon. Add they weren't necessarily one hundred percent and that was their downfall. You lost and then you lost the. But i also think you need a lot of contributions on a baseball team to be able to get through not only just the one sixty two but get through. A potential postseason run of course absolutely. But if let's say if mookie betts playing in the postseason really not going to have that great of a time but you're still going to be able to have other guys step up into those situations. Where maybe it's chris taylor are. Maybe it's you know a mckinstry or whoever happens to be. There's a possibility that could happen. You lose. ad that's it you're done it's over so it's just sure that's the only thing i think is different between basketball and i i i agree. It's just what i said. But my point is i think baseball even regardless despite the double edged sword in basketball because there's less players which means less people have an impact which means if one of those impact players is out that you have a big problem on your hands. The problem is as you need a lot of contributors and if if a chunk of them are not one hundred percent. You mentioned. mookie. Betts right like now. We're in the second half of the season. How healthy is going to be. You know this going to be a recurring thing with him. Cody bellinger has not been right for a while. Now like this is not like anything new out for a while. And he's going back soon but let's just also throw in one thing because we're we're always blowing this off and i don't mean we just kind of everybody. Let's not forget that you went out and you signed a frontline starter. And you paid this guy in absolute fortune. And he brought all of his drama. It's your championship clubhouse. And now he's sitting on the side because of his off the field that's part of the equation to that can't be summarily dismissed..

"A half they're done. I don't want those are two eight years alien opponents that they need to win games against boston specifically eight games. That's a lot of games and then three against tampa that's that's a huge huge huge swing with a team. That's at five hundred right now coming out of it so we very well may be trading assets at the trade we will. It'll be clear as day if it's a if it's trading could be clear as day they should trade or not so if i'm trading all go to the top here again. These are not my personal opinions. Because i have thoughts on everything here but i'm trading. At that point i would look to trade aaron judge and see what i could get on the market. I would look to see what the market is for that player understanding that there is a log jam of contracts. He needs to be extended he he will be a large contract and the fact that giancarlo stanton is there it puts a very big problem into what whoever the general managers at that time can do with a guy like aaron judge in a contract like that so that said i'm making juncture play right field. He will be the if i'm trading this He would be the new rightfielder. And if you're looking at a way to unclog it you can't trade stanton's contract stands not going anywhere. So what do you have to do. You have to trade judge. It's the only look. I i've loved judge. I love aaron judge like i probably like him a lot more than a lot of other people. I like the way he plays. I like a lot of things about him. And i like him off the field on the field. He's just like the guy. And i really want him to be that guy. I wanted him to be the guy for a long time. But when you look at take the big names away look at the contracts. Look at the what were they play. Look at the type of player they are. He's the guy that you would have to trade if that's going to happen because you will get something back for him. The problem is at the at the trade deadline. You only have a limited amount of teams that you're going to be dealing too so you're not going to get most likely you could get some overpayment based on a team that needs like chicago when they made that trade. They won't who knows you could argue the other way now. We've seen what labor is so far and chapman But day they overpaid because they were in a position to win and they had never won. It was a unique situation but if aaron judge is going to be made available at the deadline there's not the same amount of the teams that would be available to him There will be available to court him in the off season when it's not the remainder remainder of the season at bay. You're looking at a longer term deal. There's a lot more uncertainty. I think with the With with the way that the The players association and the the ownership collective bargaining agreement. So there's a lot of muddy mud in the in the water and smoke in the air. But he's the guy he's got to get a hold back of young talent to try to reset this thing. You would have to give judge. I think you're not getting a hall of young talent fair judge. He doesn't have that. What you value when you look across the the roster you're getting the biggest haul for him you didn't mention May maybe you didn't mention guys like jewish. Shallow who's locked locked up for cheaper and longer and is a very valuable third baseman or luke. Voight who's locked up for cheap as valuable first baseman. I don't know what you're doing with your your trae. Geo like that. Gio is not a problem i want. Go on this team. This is the this if your cell. Neither is aaron judge. If you're if you're talking about judge you not get more assets again. I'm looking at an impact. That right now you have to remember with. I think i when you compare the loss of judge for the assets you're getting to the loss of geo for the assets getting you could make an argument. Maybe geo would have more. I don't know what the reason to reason why the reason why that's wrong is because stanton now slides into that same spot and if you look at their numbers on offensive basis. They're not that different. In fact starting saying might even have better numbers. What do you expect. You don't have to give me specifics. But like what type of hall are you expecting for. Aaron judge i. I don't know. I haven't thought about it enough to say like who i would expect back but they would have to be top prospect and i. You can not doing it mookie. Betts gets traded offseason. But it was going to be a full year of mookie betts for the dodgers and what the dodgers gave back were Verdoux go who is a plug in now quality outfielder to replace mookie betts. He's he's having a good season. Where was where was he on their prospect. He wasn't a prospect. He was already playing for he was already plant. Okay yeah where was he before he got up there prospect. I don't i don't know no. I don't think he was ever a top rank prospect and then they gave The jeeter downs guy who was not their top prospect and then they gave. I think a couple of other guys was not a big by no means slapstick prospects book by no means high end like hall type blockbuster prospects okay you gotta plug in now player and you got a few nice minor league pieces for a year of mookie betts. Mookie betts healthier.

Ruth ty cobb and pick events were really because all the history books in baseball history books were confiscated in fact when they start to rebuild all the Ballparks for the two thousand ninety nine season they really have a lot of trouble to find texas. Yeah and rightfully. So now you showcase the as we said the hallowed cathedral in the bronx in a mound over hell The your previous work. Why did you choose to turn the spotlight. "The baseball regular season has always mattered more than the regular seasons in other sports. Just it has Beyond that, though, this is a game. This is a sport that is already having a hard time. Getting teams. To try to win. This is not something that's exclusive to this offseason. It's been a problem for a while. Major problem in the sport has been teams but pleading poverty and basically sitting out free agency not making trades. It has become an accepted practice in this sport for teams to trade away players in their prime who are among the best of what they do. Last offseason, The Boston Red Sox traded Mookie Betts. If we were to have a conversation about who the best player in baseball is Mookie Betts. His name is going to come up. The Boston Red Sox traded him a team with every conceivable financial advantage, and they traded him. And even worse thing for me was folks just not along like, Well, yeah, gonna save the money there in Boston. Like what do you care about them? Saving money? Don't know what the Red Sox to win If you're a Red Sox fan The Tampa Bay Rays traded away their best picture, a team that just went to Game six of the world. Syriza and everybody just not along like, Well, you could get a lot for him like yeah, but you could also go to the World Series with a guy like Blake's now The Rays did that That is a thing in this sport right now. Teams trading away their best guys. For payroll flexibility. Even if it means the team they're building is not as good I don't think that's good for the sport. You see what happens in the MBA and in the NFL become a more transactional league. There's players moving teams. They're going for it, man. Not in in in the MBA in the NFL is well, you do have teams that realize you're not a position to go for it, so they'll build draft assets and acquire You know, draft picks, and it takes him a while, but you know, there's teams That we're in a positional in go for it, and they try to keep their stars. Baseball. It's it's almost a standard practice to move on from your stars. Check in this sport here. The Cincinnati Reds had the best pitcher, maybe in all of baseball last year. Would just all kind of shrug our shoulders and Trevor Bauer is not going to come back. Shouldn't be that way. What does this have to do with an expanded postseason? Typically the body and make the postseason under the current format, which is Five teams per league has been about 89 wins 90 wins, There's a clear incentive to win the division because you don't have to play in the wild card. And even with that, you have very few teams that are doing everything they can to win. If you expand the postseason that inevitably is going to mean that fewer victories are required to get to the postseason. Let's say we we leave it at eight. Right? We have eight teams pearly now a team that wins 83 games. Well, I get to the playoffs. If we just get there. We've got a shot. So now, if you're an owner of a baseball team Do you spend every dime you can to build a 100 win team. Or do you cut corners? Cut costs. Thinking, you know what? All we gotta do is get Tau 84 wins. We could be in the postseason and as long as we're there, Well, we got a job. My guess is the answer is going to be yes. And I could say that with confidence because I've watched this sport over the last couple of years were even without the expanded postseason teams have basically chosen to not do everything it can to win. The best thing If you're a fan is to watch your team when it's doing everything it can to win. Think of all the most recent Reds off season's over the last decade. What were the two that energized people the most First one would be the winner of 2011 to 2012. What did the Reds do that off season? They traded away. Four guys for Matt Plato's, by the way, a deal I would do again. They made a move for Sean Marshall. They traded for they acquired Ryan Maps and they signed Ryan Ludwig. They went for it. Remember that all season. Lot of excitement. Thea. Other one would be last offseason. I don't think the Reds built on 95 win team, but man they went for it wanted fun. In the fun. Hey, move stock is and the showgirl Wakayama guy, the Castano's and even flirting with the idea that they could maybe trade for Francisco Indoor. They acquired Wade Miley. It excites people when owners are trying to build the best team possible. The fewer winds that are needed to get to the postseason. Unless you have to do to build your team. Unless you have to do to build your team, the less you do due to build your team and create excitement. I don't need more owners striving for mediocrity. Fact, if anything with this sport can actually use is a reduction of the playoffs. Now I'm realistic enough to know that's not gonna happen, but it legitimately what we need is a reduction of the playoffs. You know what? We're not gonna have 10 teams we're gonna have Ah, four. Now, suddenly you've got to build a really, really, really, really good team to get it. Historically, there have been exceptions here. We know that in 1973, the 83 win. Mets beat the 99 win Reds. We only had four teams make the postseason. But by and large during that era we had 95 plus win teams. When the division almost every single year again, and 90. The Reds won 91 games but still You couldn't build a mediocre team hoping they would sneak in. You had to build the best possible team. It's never good for a sport when now you can incentivize not building the best possible team. And by the way from a player perspective building the best possible teams means spending money. So that to me is why the expansion of the playoffs is not even not a good idea. It's a terrible idea. Don't need more teams striving for mediocrity. Fact you don't need more teams that are mediocre, playing deep into the postseason. Baseball locked out this year. The L. A Dodgers. Still one that a great team they played the Tampa Bay Rays. Ah, great team fantastic team. So we still got two powerhouses and yes, on a local level, It would have been great. Had the Reds advanced. But the more you expand this, the more you subject yourself to the possibility, especially in a sport is random is baseball where it Z 86 win Blue Jays and they're taking on the 80 to win Colorado Rockies. Don't watch that. You.

"Why would you please back that up. While i vomit into my sweatshirt. Okay so the yankees. The last couple of years have been like up and down as they come. Yeah right like the highs have been really really high. The lows have been really really low for sure and then come the playoffs. It just doesn't seem to workout. You know this is a chance to prove that. Prove everybody wrong about the astros and everything you know about the last few years. He just couldn't do it. Just couldn't make it through the playoffs. The dodgers on the other hand have consistently been the best team in baseball. Yeah you know it remains to be seen in the playoffs. Sometimes and you know a lot who are going to hold the shortened season against them but every it wasn't even playing field so you shouldn't But they. I mean they've gone on some of the longest winning streaks that we've seen the last two three years that they are a steady hand you're almost guaranteed to win to some degree in l. a. And i think he's a guy who just wants to win wants to go out there do his job. He's not gonna doesn't have to carry a team offensively because he was. He and luke void were the only consistent like the only guys who were consistent at all on the news and if he's if he's a dodger he's not to do that he's got guys around him who can help carry the load. He's got guys on base all the time who can drive in if he's in one or two behind. Mookie betts i was going to do is hit on the gap home run. Yeah where which you know. A dj lemay homerun is not outside of the round possibility. Obviously not at all at a dj lemay. You double is soup. Excellent as well as super possible. You know so. I i feel like he's going to go to the dodgers is because he wants to win. I don't know if it's necessarily a money thing. I think that they're probably like i said it's working out some of the some of the final details but because he working on it for a little while. But i think that's what's gonna have. Well what i think position would he play second base. Yeah okay fine. I agree with you. Kike kiki hernandez is out. He's out yet he gone. He got home. Why you got so here. So i.
