"In the monterrey peninsula area is your home base as we start to wrap this up. There's going to be long episode but to labor of love. You named a couple events. Your favorite i think is still the scottish festival. Yes okay all right. So the best day of the year for you would be the scottish festival. I would have to save. The monarch. butterfly parade is something that most visitors never see and is just adorable. So i would point that one out one thing that makes you laugh and say only in the monterey peninsula caramel for two reasons. They have no street addresses. They go by third house. South of twelve th avenue the building or whatever they are and here's the even the next good one when is illegal to wear high heels over two inches. I did not know that. You need a city permit. Or as i would call a release basically the even walking surfaces around the old town idea. Yeah lawsuits and stuff. So i read came back in the twenties but in sixty three they put it in a law has to get a city permit if you were high heels well skin known for a few loss like that in fact the story goes that. Clint eastwood ran for mayor because he was frustrated with some of the laws that he was facing as a restaurant owner but also because at one point there was a great ice cream parlor. No longer there right on main street and made it illegal to eat ice cream while you're walking down the street and i think that was one of the you know that's enough sort of things that may decide to be mayor. The no street lights in town. One of the reasons they can do addresses is that there's no mail delivery. Everybody picks up their mail from the post office carmel. So it's an interesting little quirky place in. It's not really a hip replacements. An artist's place people santa cruz but but it is beautiful. We used to have friend of my parents who had an art gallery there. Lot of wonderful artists. They're still not as many as they used to be. I think but Beautiful beautiful city as well. You're standing in the prettiest spot on the monterey peninsula. Where are you standing in. What are you looking at point. Lobos her yes at sunset. Also like mallory square keys west to me there. You go excellent and jeff. If you had to summarize the monterey peninsula in just three words what three words would you use hyphenated see air okay street and comfort and you're going to have to explain comfort..

"Is there as well right. I was actually going to mention beck in monterey the robert louis. Stevenson lived in monterey and his houses open for people to visit and there. They will tell you that point lobos was what he used as a map of trial. And of course. I've been at least two of the places in the world that say he patterns treasure island after you know where there were so. I don't know that there's any truth that story but that's the story they will tell you at the steinbeck house or at least. They told me that when i was a student going over there in elementary school. The other thing that's unusual. That has happened since i left. Is there is a wild animal safari park between salinas and monterey which i haven't made to yet this inquest safari bed and breakfast. Now you can actually stay there as well but that is out near speckles the sugar town. Yeah south monterey. And salinas cut across there when i go to monterey to the scottish festival have to look next time. Have you ever been to the california international airshow. Aaron salinas. 'cause i know it's about. I think this is supposed to have been the fortieth year. But obviously kobe did that. But first weekend in june that is correct well and we skipped one more event in monterey and that is the jazz festival. Okay jazz festival. That is the best known festival in monterey. So we're all learning something here to other things that i would do to. The east is to the south and that is the only national park. Well the only park in a national park system with the national park designation. I have to be very careful with jeff on the show. The is pinnacles national park. High cannock area fascinating place brings flashlight is a series of caves that you can walk through do some hikes very warm in the summertime bring water there are two different entrances to the west end to the east and they do not connect you cannot drive from one to the other on anything that is paved at least you have to drive quite a ways around the gallon range of mountains to get from one end to the other. We used to always go to the east side of the park. The west side of the park is interesting too. Don't expect cell phone connection beautiful park wonderful hikes and the caves are really just narrow ravines that with great big rocks f on into but you know. Great called zealous caves there. You go because. I know that because my first national park surrey. I want to mention that. And then you mentioned. We're gonna talk about some other missions. Yeah we'll before we get off of pericles just a couple of things folks california condors can be seen at the pinnacles and the other interesting thing is you're talking about the rooted volcanic peaks. Well they're right on the san. Andreas fault yes in the other. Half of those peaks is one hundred ninety five miles southeast. So i'm not sure which side's going north which side's going south but the west side is going north north right okay. Basically los angeles is moving toward san francisco. San francisco is on the north american plate. Angeles is on the pacific plate. So another great place..

"To track. You know we've done all the external work with calm down the muscles everybody on board that's in the team year here. And then talking about accessory things like Uber -cation. So we rotations going to be important and we always recommend a water base lube. We're actually coconut oil rose did everywhere so. People have in their house embarrassed about if you're somebody finds loom hiding around but coconut oil, we'll have that endless. On We talk about adding that I and getting. Some lubrication or positioning I do that a lot so or women especially again, intriguing recent. Most likely right now. I. WanNa Talk About having in control. So a lot of times when they're using way more than like my finger or their partners hand, they're in control of that later, which makes them feel more comfortable. So we talk about sexual positions that put them in control like female being on. Because they know when they can stop right, you can still talk to your husband and say I want you to go slow but it's a psychological aspect. You can change the intensity, the depth, all of those things if you're talking your job. also with having the patient had open and honest conversation with their partner to see what their partner is feeling about things and I always ask my female patients really how their partner is doing with all of this like I know you're the one therapy and you're the one with the physical issues but how is affecting your relationship? So I kind of broke that and see what their communication style is a couple. Minor not mentioned talking he was that said about using a outside therapist counselors. Pentagon a sex therapist on board if the couple's having difficulty communicating. A good plan return to sex anybody else have thoughts wanted to chime in stories. I have an interesting patients scenario right now, a lot of interesting patients now because I take. Medi. Cal. And I'm one of the only people in the Monterey Peninsula who take medical So I see some people after long term issues and one of the patients currently have right now had a failed abdominal surgery that got infected had multiple procedures that same area have has a. Lot of scar tissue a lot of hypersensitivity can't handle like even a percent of lumbar extension all or any sort of anti republic tilt because it's just too much stretch and they have pain with sex pain with eating getting too full of a stomach anything like that. But they are also a dominatrix and that is something that they do on the side just for fun and it's something important come up until the fourth visit and they discussed a lot about. The issues I actually have our win. I'm wearing my strap on and discussions about that and how. The the issue with the thrusting with a strap on on and things like that and so it was obviously conversation I've never ever had. It's something I like to think I know a lot about but I was like Whoa. Okay. I need to talk about what are the things that the wearing the strap on? Is it the having the strap on on you in you or is it the thrusting and everything like that and discussing what is your goal and what is your issue with these and discussing all the different options that they had And how we are going to get there, and what's like their first step what your short term goal is just tolerating wearing ed is your long term goal thrusting with that on your in Lee major long term goal is enjoying it in. So it's just been interesting working with that person about here is there spectrum of what sex looks like to them and what's important to them to get back to?.

"Sunday here at the AT and T pro-am. He has got a three shot lead over Phil Mickelson who is solo second as we speak. Lucas Glover is is right up there. Former US open champion and some great stories. Jonathan Byrd who was set to play in Panama. If I heard the story correctly did not have his passport couldn't play in Panama went back home nearby. Got a call that he could get into the AT and T here, and he scrambled to get here at like three in the morning, and he is currently tied for seventh grade story there so be to watch how Jonathan Byrd finishes up the PGA tour Commissioner Jay Monahan looks like he's gonna make the amateur cut. We'll have that information with you shortly in his again as a reminder, we're gonna go till seven o'clock tonight. Tom Spencer will join us shortly wrapping up his CBS TV duties, and as the play rap is wrapping up the rain has started again down here in the Monterey peninsula. So it's been a a true story of on and off. Let's hear a little bit more for Paul Casey. A lot of talk about how the weather has changed here in the cooler temperatures on the Monterey peninsula, and how he makes a judgments for would distances he hits his clubs and here, he talks a little bit about technology. And his golf game for us. We we lean on technology a little bit. So all these launch monitors. We had those early in the week. It's my I've got a base set of numbers that I work with which seems to serve me quite well for sort of a. Saying nice, let's say spring day. In phoenix. Let's say so the seventy five degrees, decent whatever we'll say thousand feet fifteen hundred feet above sea level. And I'm a full club shorter here this week. With as it stands right now with decent sunshine outside. So when you throw in the rain, and then the bitter cold this morning what we do is. I have a WalMart routines and away we test those numbers in the morning and then adjust as the day goes on Johnny seems to take care of of it. But some. It's really just it's all is Doug is really just doing your homework his experience. I guess if you don't have experienced in doing a, yeah, there's no excuse to not know those numbers with with access to ten. There's a school guy in in Paul, Casey. But as you hear he's using current technology to to help his game, and as they travel around the world and around the country. You got so many different levels of technology or levels of weather and elevations, and and and whether conditions the grass conditions, so you know, these guys really are fine tuning at these days. So so pretty pretty cool stuff. We'll have the the info on the pro-am cut, which is twenty five players exactly with their partners. And they will do a cut or a playoff if needed by the pro score is how they break those ties. So we'll we'll do a little homework and and get that information to everybody normally on Sunday, the play starts at around eight o'clock, and we'll try to have a handle on that before we go off the air at seven. O'clock tonight as well. So so that's good stuff. It's very unique here where even the last group you will likely have one of the one or two the amateurs, and depending on how the cut works out. There might be one amateur with three pros or there might be to amateurs plane with two pros. So pretty unique there, and and it really matters. I think to to the players. What their parents are like, and and such and let's hear from Paul Casey about his feeling about playing in the rotation of the celebrities were here at pebble at the AT and T sort of the group if you will the Bill Murray's and re remodel they always play on Saturday here at pebble. And let's hear Paul Casey talk about how he likes to be in the rotation. Doesn't matter. It's. I think I think it can certainly have an effective who you play with. I. I don't think it matters. Whether it's a celebrity and athletes and act to see it doesn't matter. I think as long if you have a rapport with you your author. Play as partners in your group. My being g MAC and at Brown. I've nine max since I was a kid, and I've only met him this week, but very very nice guy. And so we had we had a good group and g MAC played. Well, and it's a wonderful play. Plays off Tunisia genuine too. So. Yeah, we had a good time. I think if you yeah, I've had groups before whether it's here or done hill where you don't get the synergy. It can't can't answer to your question about being away from the hoop Laren. Celebrities doesn't matter as long as because I've played with Bill marina, great before Madan hill. And I had a great time. And he's being Bill doesn't bother me because I get along with that night. I enjoy it. There's Paul Casey again talking about. If he if he's bothered by plane in the rotation or in he his case today, he played at Spyglass Hill. He was not in the rotation. But is he said it doesn't really matter to him. And and as I mentioned before I think one of the big reasons he's here is because of the US open and in plain here in June, which will be fabulous to to see the pros here. And and we kind of joked with in the previous segment that we visited Eric's timer. The senior manager of the US open championships, and whether he's really in my mind, sort of to defending champions you've got. Brett. You know, you've got the defending champion from last year. And then you've got Graeme McDowell who is going to be here brick Brooks kept guy who's won two in a row will be the actual defending champion. But then you know, you've got Graeme McDowell who won here. And I think he's played with his dad a couple of years in the pro-am here. And I remember his dad coming onto the green after one with the trophy presentation here at pebble. So so really really cool stuff Paul Casey as an interesting history here, even though he has not played here every single year. I think it's been about fifteen years or sixteen years. He mentioned since he has played here. But let's hear a little bit of history of playing in this event. And how we got a very unique start here at Pebble Beach. I started here. My my I think this is the very first effort professional events I played in tour of anti played in PJ tour European tour. Any Paul Spangler was kind enough to? Reach out to me, and I just turned pro and extend an invite through various the right channels. And I was Seth war that year. Failed miserably. Still have a friendship with Seth. So I guess they didn't fail. Totally. And then when my career. Progress I predominantly played in Europe. So the middle swing that time of year. You're was was clashing for a lot of it. So I. Didn't really have the opportunity to play because I was focused over there. And then the last few years stepping away from European tour in twenty fourteen twenty fifteen season. Yeah. I didn't. I wasn't ready kind of on the radar again. I didn't think about it. And my relationship with Don has has grown and he really wanted to play. And I was a little reticent admittedly, having having seen this so much on TV. Knowing what what it can be like around here. There are two factors. Big factors ones. The weather, obviously, if you have great weather, this is one of the best places on the planet and to if you have the right partner, it can be wonderful. And if you don't then so it's. It's a tricky one. I can at least I can guarantee. One of those elements last year we had both. And it was such a great experience with dawn. I thought, you know, even if even if we get a bad year, weather wise, I mean, it's it's a wonderful place to be he's such a great guy to play with the US Open's here in June. You know, I've got I've got to do it. Again, why not had success is with my my game. Everybody's hitting a longer than I am now a day. So I got I got a cherry pick. And I had decent result round here last year. So it's going to stay on as long as I have decent results. So why wouldn't I play it? That's the voice again of Paul Casey and talking about Paul Spangler giving him an invite to play here. And it was his very first professional golf tournament ever. And kinda cool story there to hear that from Paul Casey. And again, he will be your overnight leader. And we'll do a little homework here at the break to figure out what's happening with the pro-am teams. But it'll be Paul Casey. And Phil Mickelson and the final group and Lucas Glover is made a what should be. It may be Phil Mickelson. We've got Lucas Glover is made a birdie and is currently tied with Phil rather than solo second. So we will. We'll update we'll update doubt in the next hour and give some final final numbers on the the last ones coming through. Let's hear one last bit from Paul, Casey. And this one is his thoughts on playing in the rain today was pretty nice this morning. The weather report. I I saw showed rain in the eight thirty to ten o'clock range. I really didn't come into about noon, but it was fast and furious. Quick storm that came through and then mentioned that just as some of the players are finishing up their last or two we had another quick little squall come through late in the day here in a little bit, more rain. But I think they were probably within about fifteen minutes of that heavy rain, you know, putting a delay on it again today, but, you know, pretty pretty interesting stuff. So let's hear one last bit from Paul Casey, your overnight leader here at the AT and T talking about playing in the ring you have to be very aggressive. You have to manage spin as much as you can. I've just so Phil shut out of the bunker on four papal. I mean, it's it's very difficult to get close to some of the back pain like Haitians, but. I mean, guys know these courses well because we play the moment Simon in the rotation and. Yeah. I mean, of course, is doing remarkably well considering somebody throughout stat that we've had I don't know what they. The half they rainfall annual rainfall or something in a few days. So whatever the style was at night. But it was the courses are doing. Well, the staff have been amazing to prepare the courses the way that especially after yesterday's daily daily. They should be applauded. All right. There's Paul Casey. And we'll be here a little bit more from him later on. But really great. He's got a nice comeback playing very very well. And a great to see him here. Playing with one of the talk top executive with FedEx and felt very comfortable plane over expi- glass today when most of the the a group of celebrities, especially Wayne here in the rotation. So Tom Spencer will join us after the break. And again, we'll take it up so seven tonight, and then we will be here. Tomorrow nine to noon. From the media center. And then we'll go three thirty to five. We've had a nice run of having the champion sit down with us. Looks like a little bit of rain through tomorrow is as well. But with the the smaller field, they should have a a good a good effort of getting getting it through today. So so great stuff there. Hey, just remember for for those of you up in the bay area vows and Daly city is not just a landmark since the nineteen fifties. But it's an.

South Lake Tahoe, Pacific Grove measures to limit vacation rentals winning
"You're listening to the spoken edition of the San Francisco Chronicle. South Lake Tahoe Pacific grove measures to limit vacation rentals winning by Kathleen Pender from business to California. Tourist towns could be on the verge of banning vacation home rentals in residential neighborhoods. Valid measures to face how short term rentals are narrowly ahead in south Lake Tahoe and wellhead in Pacific grove both cities have seen a surge and Bakke shin rentals since the advent of do it yourself rental sites such as VR B O dot com and Airbnb those preliminary results stand in stark contrast to a similar measure in the resort community of Palm Springs which lost by a wide margin in June. In Pacific grove on the Monterey peninsula. Fifty eight point two percent of five thousand two hundred thirty three votes. Counted were in favor of measure m which would ban short term rentals of less than thirty days in residential areas outside the coastal zone and face out existing ones within eighteen months in south Lake Tahoe a measure to shutdown short term rentals outside the tourist core area. After three years is leading with fifty one point two percent of four thousand five hundred seventy seven votes cast that narrow one hundred thirteen vote margin could change when all vote by mail ballots. Are counted Eldorado county has up to thirty days to certify the election. The grassroots group that gathered enough signatures to place measure t on the ballot hasn't claimed victory. It's still pretty promising at this point said Peggy Borland a leader with Tahoe neighborhoods group almost fourteen hundred of south lake tahoe's, roughly eighteen hundred licensed vacation rentals are outside the. Tourist core measure Tepe passes, those fourteen hundred rentals could continue operating through twenty twenty one. But if they're sold or go out of business that permit could not go to someone else like it can now after three years any that remained could no longer operate short term rentals, although they could rant for more than thirty days at a time. One provisions of the measure would take effect ten days after results are certified and accepted by the city. It would reduce occupancy limits on short term rentals in residential areas. That could impact some existing reservations, although the south Lake Tahoe city attorney said last week that some enforcement discretion will have to be used in December south Lake Tahoe. Capped short term rentals in residential neighborhoods at fourteen hundred and implemented regulations and steep fines aimed at curbing noise and parking complaints. Borland said her group started an initiative campaign after failing to reach a compromise. With city council that would have said a lower cap on vacation rentals and required a minimum distance between. Lean them most vacation home couldn't vote on the measure because their primary residence is elsewhere. Although vacation homeowners could argue the measure would deprive them Bright's. They had when they purchased the property Boylan said those of us that bought our houses in residential neighborhoods. Have had the rules changed on us. I didn't buy my house in nineteen seventy five to be living next to a motel all three city council. Members who were up for reelection, including mayor, Wendy, David opposed measure, t and all three appear to have lost David said, she was saddened by the outcome and believed her loss was one of the unfortunate fallouts of measure t the three apparent winners. Also opposed measure t but were part of the council that set the rules and camps that supporters found inadequate David said, she knew the vote would be close because most people understood both sides of the issue. But once they got into the voting booth it probably came down to whether they felt short term rentals were disrupting their lives or crucial to their livelihoods. We are hopeful. That a compromise can be reached said Jerry Bendel general manager forced suites resort and director of the south Lake Tahoe launching association, which opposed measure t if the measure passes any changes would need voter approval. However, it's possible that the city could reach a compromise through zoning perhaps by expanding the tourist core area. He said asked what other tours towns could learn from this Bendall said every towns dynamic is a little bit different. They need to understand how short term rentals affect everything from housing shortages to tourism. And try your best to be proactive and come up with a balance before it comes to a vote that maybe nobody wanted. He said the lodging association of post measure, even though it could benefit some members who own hotels and motels because it couldn't predict the impact on tax revenues the economy and recreation center that's supposed to be funded with a tax on vacation rentals. Those are wildcards. We don't know what's going to happen. Bendall said adding that the mountain towns still welcomes. Tourists opponents of measure t raised three hundred sixty five thousand dollars compared with less than two thousand dollars by proponents.

"Crosby and the at t you'd be the perfect wanted to ask about the difference between the 2 part of me says i you know i don't see much difference but then there are other things i don't i don't see the movie stars that we used to have things like that well i mean there there are few entertainers a lot of athletes our whole culture is changed at one time when i started coming down here in sixty six sixty seven we didn't have tv as we had it today and basically you see all the stars on tv all the time there we first had been crosby who was at as i understand the late 40s and early 50s the number two personality in america and and that's how important it was in the course he made this tournament yup the the pros were nobody's when he started it in the 30's and and and so now you you'd get to see dean martin you get to see phil harris and they joke around and and of course arne was here and jacked he was just starting and and guys like that now every ten seconds on tv we have always talk shows at night and one after another and they bring all the stars on an so it's a different world by the the the the tournament is very much the same yes we have a lot of businessmen but you it's golf and people enjoy themselves and and that's one of the things being thought was important was that the competitors should be pleasant to the crowd and vice versa because the money goes as we know to monterey peninsula a association helps keep and once banked only i i don't even need the tournament but the monterey peninsula does and so you had that sort of a personality and i think it's carried through an end at one time just one the it was the only tournament it was the only a proam of this sort and now that there was a ton of them at one time john the other were all you'll exactly right we're being joy by arts pander odd many many years covering nestle and other sports and one of our real treasures of the bay area and.
