"Today with the local hour and I wanna get into what's happening with the marlins because it's fair for billy to jump in here and say that the marlins are a sweet surprise story that is historic in the history of south Florida sports although that's not where I was going to start the show I was going to say that the ninety six panthers both marlins teams that have won the title and the Nineteen Eighty-three Championship. Miami hurricanes that those are the four surprise stories in the history of south Florida and I believe you can make the argument but both of these now it's a weird season and look a third of a baseball season is not representative of how good you are. But regardless with the season we've been given the MARLINS are in the playoffs are the reds but whatever the marlins are in the playoffs and so I wanted to ask billy how he experienced. The entirety of this weekend because he was wanting to fast forward through the weekend and just get to the results so that he didn't have to sort of have the pain of whatever he'd fans, for example, where feeling last night when they're watching the third and the fourth quarter and you're getting scared you're getting scared because of a sudden jalen Brown stealing the ball from tyler hero and ending up with easy layups and you're just you're getting scared billy. What was your level of fear? They did you a favor by clinching as soon as the series started against the Yankees by winning the first game with the first game went extra innings and they coughed up a lead late in that I I would imagine you in the ninth inning of that game were probably saying that's it. We're doomed. WE'RE GONNA lose the rest of our games by a million run and we're GONNA we're not gonNA make the playoffs. My my wife looked at me and said, I've never seen you like this during the ninth inning of the Marlins game it was anything but smooth sailing. Coughed up the lead. We don't need to get into whether saying he should have pitched for the sandy pitch. That's not something we need to get into today. And then Monte Harrison kind of had a base running blunder but benefited from him getting hit in the back with the ball. So he didn't get thrown out at third base and then they clinched it. All was fair always right in the world again, Dan. Thank. God. That that happened on Friday because I have two more days of that and then looking to see the brewers and the reds were doing and scoreboard watching. This season Dan and now here's a thing I'm excited about the fact that the marlins are in the playoffs right? Playing against Sarah Spain and if things go poorly, we're never going to hear the end of it from Sarah Spain Right I. think that we can agree on like I, don't think the terrorist going to be graceful winner of the cubs do in fact, beat the MARLINS. So we have to kind of deal with the commissioner a series here and I'm not sure how excited I am about that because I feel like she's Going to be kind of picking on the Marlins a little bit we'll bill you can't lose I mean it's the cubs in the Marlins, the cubs, the prohibitive favorite. No one expects the Marlins do anything I mean in your house money and you still have you still have the Bartman series like you still have. You still have over her forever like you won the title that year and they had mark prior and Kerry Wood. Could Forget Steve. Bartman. What. Magical Times they were you know what? Else we have the pitching because I'm telling you right now the Marlins are GonNa win that series against the cubs and then they're gonNA, play the braves and then that's going to be bad. So flew don't play the braves fifty play the raids Watch out if they played. All right. So how do you want the staff to set up? Do you to go in the first game like you What do you want this to look like? All right. Well, let's get out the piece of paper in the notebook here. Right. We have sandy who can pitch the good thing is is that they did this survey right? So they've had some days to setup the rotation the way they want they have sandy who's probably GonNa Pitch Game One on assuming right do you think he's GonNa Pitch Game One don't know I saw I mean I was reading stuff I was thinking that I'd prefer to see sex sixto because he's a he's a you know he's a bigger prospect and all this season is all about sort of building momentum to future seasons belly who's game one for the cubs Lester or is it you darvish? Is going to be definitely in one of two of the first two games they had another. He's been so good this year. He's been his era like I'd be scared of him. Yeah. I. Mean I would hope six pitches, one of the two games, but he's had to not so great starts in a row. So maybe they'll put him game three and hope to get I. Think it all depends on how game one goes right and then you have Pablo and sixty you can flip law I mean I really bringing down the MARLINS rotation who get? No this is so exciting than cited is exciting away so much money on merchandising if they only last two. Games. Three Games going to be so upset with myself that I bought all this postseason year because honestly things doubt as a marlins fan for my life. Right where I buy like Oh, my God, the Wildcard Shirt in the National League Championship Series Shirt in the world series and they win all of that stuff. Right? I've not experienced the feeling of buying a respect Miami Twenty, twenty postseason shirt and a hat that says post-season twenty twenty and have them get swept out in two games or something because that would be a disaster response. All that money and they just lose right away. What am I going to do with that? The whole time I'm going to look at the hat of the Could've been they could've done this, and then I'll just replay whatever goes wrong in the games in my head over and over again why don't you tell the people what you purchase last night Mike I bought the NBA finals hat that the Miami Heat were rockin spent fifty dollars on what might end up being a second place happe-, whatever it's fire and I liked what they're doing with this. Timeless design where just says NBA finals on it as opposed to saying Eastern Conference Champs because if you lose in the finals chances of someone remembering, Hey, you lost those finals I mean not very high. I haven't NBA Finals Hat after they won in eastern, conference, finals that they ended up losing against the Spurs and no one ever calls me out on that one. So I'm really happy about this. So. Here's my question to you because you all that stuff last night right in I know people that bought the postseason stuff like I'm going to put it on my credit card I right. But I know how this works. I'm not going to get a for three weeks right. So why am I going to buy something online that I'm not going to get for like three weeks I need to find the store that sells it and I don't know if the marlins stores open..

"The braves of course National League East champion so mark going into this year. Who Do you think is the most pivotal player on the team? I think are GONNA be Swanson. We saw what you know. Some of its potential there at the beginning of last season. They got injured The decline offensively and defensively towards the end but he had a strong postseason You know I think if he can not only continue to provide a solid defensive shortstop but but provide enough that to lengthen this lineup beyond those those first four hitters. We all know what they're capable of. Then they may have that that Lineup death if they're going to need to compete and what will be a very tight race. You Watch the braves. Last year and you know that for a lot of the year a the biggest issue was their bullpen. What's the state of the bullpen? At the outset of this year I would say this is my twentieth season covering the braves. That's probably the best. The bullpen has been entering a seat. Do you think about where they've gone with. Luke checks You know being the closer most of last year now. He's a sixth inning. Guy Got Mark Melanson and and Will Smith They they they're continuing to designate milan-san as their clothes are I think will Smith will get twenty two save opportunities. We'll see how match ups You know set themselves up there in the late innings but you know depending on if there's some lefties but look being lefties and righties. Outta you got those two guys back there. It's going to be interesting to see what they do with with changing throughout the off season. I've wondered what they try to train. There's enough depth within this bullpen You know that that's an option. He's going to have a little bit better than he has. Your first few appearances that that may not be a big deal. But you know when you put those guys together. You Got Their Day In Luke Jackson did make strides lecture. He's not a closer but but now he's in the right role I think the interesting thing is what do you do with Sean Nukem? He he fits so well as a reliever last year. He's GonNa get a chance to to use of the starter maybe while called. Hamill's out that makes perfect sense but I think that you know he may be best utilized in that role As a reliever so he could factor into the mix baby beginning but You Know I. I think you're gonNA look at this. Bullpen as being you know six six maybe seven Two guys were you feel really good about What they're gonNA do when they enter again. You led me perfectly into my next question. Some health updates on a couple of guys Cole. Hamels Freddy Freeman. Well Pretty Freeman. That's fine you know. I think that Freddie came to camp. He was excited about how his oboe felt. I do think he just overworked itself. You know that that's you know I. I know some people might have been skeptical. That's just the way this We are in this world. You know how healthy is but I think he was just taking far too many slings and making far tomatoes during the first week. You can't just you know four months. Remove from surgery so these fine Astra Cole Hamels. We don't know you know I'm Brian. Snicker says it is far too early to even project when Cole will be clear. Start throwing so you know. I think when when they announced the coal is dealing with left shoulder information. You're thinking okay. He's GonNa miss all of the now. You know you get to this point. Three weeks left and campaign. He hasn't even was resumed throwing. He's going to have to start back to where he was January. I think you're looking mid May You know at best so when they do make these rotations this decisions with Kyle right and you know feeling has pitched well enough probably to get one of the two available spots But when you're you're making a decision with Sean Uka Mikhail Right. I think you have to think about the possibility of this is they could end up. You need about seven sparks maybe to compensate for for Hamels as absence. At least I do think it's You know we're going to be close to forty games of the season before before. Cold gets in there this spring. How is the third base competition playing out now? The Josh Donaldson moved onto the Minnesota twins. You know I- coming into camp. My I kept saying you know off their best with awesome rally at Third Base. But you can't allow spring training stats will you? So whatever Austin does down here at Spring Training That doesn't matter. Camargo should start the Season Third Baseman Sin Riley AAA give him a couple of weeks And then you know your hope is that not only does he provide power in the middle of your lineup but think tomatoes versatility strengthens your bench. right now the way. Riley looks you could. You're getting back to that. You know every year some guy continues to tease and say okay. He's fine he's ready. I I still think you need to to be careful. You know what he did at the end of last year But here here's the impressive thing. And you get moss for some run yesterday. But more importantly he's only struck out three times in nineteen at bats Here's a guy struck out. Forty percent of his plate appearances during the final three months last year He was swinging at every slider whether it was. You know anywhere near the plate Over the final few months I think he does have better Recognition than disciplined right. Now we know what kind of you know rob power he has. He's going to be the guy. Eventually the question is. Will they pull the trigger and give him the job at the beginning of the season? My guess right now March fourth no But at the same time In two weeks if he continues to do this it's going to make it even more difficult to send them to AAA but a look if you if you sent him to triple A. You you do it with the mindset. Just throw down there and do what you need to do for two weeks to make sure that you know prove to us. You are ready and then He gets in the middle of the lineup and once again like with Danby that helps lengthen everything beyond those first four hitters. One Minute left to get two questions for you one. What's in like watching Ronald Kunia? Junior mess with each other every day. That's a lot of fun I mean it's you know they're grown up now. They're older twenty three and twenty two now on but just You know they're always together. The these are. They're the best of friends you know that they make you laugh. They they keep you young and you know I'm you know that's that's that's all of us from a An outside perspective you know or you know from San or media perspective it makes you feel like They keep young. They do the same for their teammates. So it's Uh you know not only. Are they enjoying themselves? But they're making things much more Enjoyable within that clubhouse and a win total guesstimate on the braves. I'm guessing ninety two this. Is this the better team? And they had either the past two years But at the same time that divisions that much better I do think they win that division Ninety two with ninety two wins but Like I said the I think the phillies are going to be better. And you know we all know what the national be. We'll see what the mets can do but from top to bottom much division. So I I see the win. Total reduce you know. A reduction of wins but at the same time The result will be the same bill lender third straight division all right mark. Thanks for doing this all right. Thank you McPherson. Covers the Miami. Marlins for the Miami Herald what would represent progress for the Marlins in two thousand and twenty. Oh I would say first off more wins obviously going fifty seven and one five. Is You gotta go up from there? That can be seen a lot of the younger guys. Step Up. They have a lot of their prospect Edward Cabrera Monte Harrison Sanchez. Just name a few. Who are on the cusp of making it to the majors. If they can get this year and start showing some sort of progress. I feel like that'd be a win. In the MARLINS book how would you assess right now? The patients of the MARLINS ownership with what's gone on since they took over they've been patient but as their jere. Ceo Hall of Famer as he says he preaches patients but he had known they've gone through the first two years they've gone through dot com. This is the year that they they which is wants partners. They need to see progress here. That doesn't necessarily mean that. Used to be wild card contention or playoff contention but they have to take that step forward and by twenty twenty one. They need to start showing that they have a chance of being in the playoff from your perspective is communicating with fans. What do you think their response is going to be? Is the farm systems. Get better in some of those young players graduated into the big leagues. Hopefully the fans start seeing all of it. They've they've been as patient as ever. Obviously it's about longtime winning team. They understood the process that had to go on. They knew everything had to be torn. Down in order to be built backup. They've gone through the two years. See Don the younger guys on the cusp. They also see them Orleans making some findings the all season getting Corey Dickerson. Johnson be our basic idea to bring that buffer until younger guys already. And that's progress for them. They've seen the that's coming forward. They just WanNa see the production. Come on the field. Give me the name of a young players in the minors for a lot of last year. Who might have an impact in the big leagues? This year. This year I would have to go with Monte Harrison. He was one of the outfielders acquired in the Christian Yelich trade. He's more than likely within September. Call up last season. He didn't hurt his wrist. Blake and he's probably gonNA start in the minors for about a month. Maybe six weeks. Just get him some metro. Dax made sure he's ready to go and he could very well be a guy who's seeing right beal in right field. See a little bit and center. He's got some pop. He's got some speed. He has the makings of a baseball player. Who could make an impact in twenty twenty now? You mentioned the names of veterans. They added this spring. What it'd be seen in them in terms of making a difference in the clubhouse got clubhouse bear raining that veteran presence which is needed when you're clubhouse is primarily a lot younger guys the guys who are either getting to the majors for the first time or only been in for part of the season one season Corey dickerson has been preaching process. The process folks on the process and the results will come He's used Aguilar..

"Once What's going on with the with the Patriots and the do your job crew Allegedly out there filming the bengals sideline. Yeah and think it's important for people who are listening to this and can you understand a couple of things about my background. I worked for the Patriots. This is my seventh season calling the play by play with hired by the flagship station. WBZ The F. M.. Ninety five the sports hub in Boston and for my first season worked for ninety five sports up in eight five sports men in your two for me and ever since I've worked for the patriots as well a part time basis contributing to their website and some of the shows Four crafts sports production. The Patriots have the kraft family has a a business model in which they have a soccer team and football team As sports properties and then have crafts force productions actions that generates a lot of content For both of those teams and we're talking to patriots here and it's not only content on the web and social media but also also television there. I host a weekly television roundtable show with two former patriots players. There's another show that airs CDs affiliate but it's pretty spycraft sports productions Also crafts productions produces the Patriots preseason games and this is the second season of the Patriots of WanNa had a series called. Do Your job and it's not. There's nothing alleged about what they were doing. In terms of the your job documentaries they put together. They were out. This is a crew. That was Filming episode the three season to The life of an advance scout of the Patriots it follows last year's episodes which included a profile of a longtime personnel assistance for the Patriots. Nancy Meyers and what she does. On a daily basis It also follows follows piece last year on the college scouting department with Monte Harrison Ford in his college scouts and how they go about you know what they do and I think that may have included a visit to a pro day or campus visit. Assert that they they. They put a lot of time and effort into More recently there was a feature on The equipment staff for the Patriots and the training staff. I think it was the the last Vignette was put together. These run on their archived on the website. Anybody can see them. And I have a personal relationship with the people that work for cross sports sports productions and my understanding of the situation is essentially. What's been reported by and large that the crew was sent out to Cleveland The the browns. Pr Staff Credential They were there to interview and Get some video of one of the Patriots. Fan Scouts advancing the bengals and in the Cincinnati. In the Cleveland press box the crew was set up and one of the Bengals PR. Staffers someone from the Bengals is people by now. No saw the weather was has been described as a monitor Yeah I don't know if it was the viewfinder you find her camera for was actually a larger monitor. Yes all that. The cameras fixed on on the field on the sidelines as reported by By a number of others the Patriots issued a statement essentially saying that they were in the wrong I think they they try to make it clear they follow it. They apologized for it that there was an error that occurred occurred unknowingly by an independent contractor photographer videographer. There was a producer. There who who was he was a fulltime boy of sports and our football operations was not responsible and belted is very adamant about that again on Wednesday and his and his press conference but they haven't passed that people people know that and and whenever there is an an alleged impropriety or in this case there was an era on immediately sound. The Patriots tweets In their statement address that and I think we're we're open about it Naturally the tape the Patriots are going to have to the deal with their past being revisited. And that's just a and I can't can't blame the Bengals I understand. Why they they were not alerted alerted to the fact that there was going to be a video crew there that would be shooting video in the press box Also right now I think we just we we wait to see what what what the NFL does how proceeds I think You know there's a lot of content that they shot and reportedly the there's about eight minutes video that Is is in question. Right now But like I said I have a personal relationship. I work with transports. A Lot I I I know some people that are very much involved and I feel extremely extremely confident and I don't think that I don't believe i. I feel confident. There was nothing nefarious. There's no skulduggery here. It was an innocent honest mistake. I and it wasn't done to gain competitive advantage over the bengals on there for. I do believe that knowing the people that were involved. You know I I call it the the this spy gate sequel and you gotTa think that they'd be smarter than to do something so similar to that to that tape there. There's no but there is no excusing The lack of awareness or lack of knowledge. You can't you can't you. Video the field from from the press box. And that's something that they're dealing with and I think they've admitted that as an organization for sure and with with regard to like I said Peop- people are well aware patriots past there are coincidences And I think the you know you come back to if they're going to do anything if anybody can do anything like that. The last thing that you do is is is so visible Zabol in the press box and I again I just knowing some of the people that are involved in I think you know I feel very confident that You know what the Patriots the State of the Patriots put out one hundred percent true I don't know what's on that video you know we'll we'll have to wait and see what the NFL goals and and that will tell us more and there may be stuff on that video that y'all People look at and say Outside of New England and the There's definitely something there there and there may be something on that video that We all look at and say there's nothing there Approach and and and you know we'll wait and see what happens. Yeah and You know I don't think yeah we didn't get the we didn't get to hear Abella check You Know Mona Lisa. Vito kind of response. Unfortunately but I never more relatable relatable than when he's forced to answer questions that have nothing to do with football. How annoyed he is that he has to deal with it I think all of us can appreciate That I think I think everybody's been the situation relaxed. You know whatever whatever you do for a living We Reid is forced to deal with stuff. And you're like this is not my job. Why am I talking about this so yeah I think it's important to the other thing I the one last thing about? What is the bill and bill's articulated that This not only this week but many many times in the past whenever the name Paul Brown has come up whenever the Patriots agents who played the Bengals of there's been some reason to comment on the bengals and the Brown Family General Bill idolized Paul Brown and Bill has tremendous are these teams one of his role models. US and I know that Bill Father Felt the same way about. Paul Brown Built Godfather Coached or played under Paul Brown And Yeah he has tremendous respect for Mike Brown and the Brown family. And I think that that's something that You know I only considered all all week long and and reiterated interested again today. I know there's a great relationship there which doesn't currently exist necessarily with a lot of other owners and people are on the NFL and Mike Brown So I think they also to consider as well. Yeah definitely and then I can You know Being transplant transplant. Living in doing the myself that I've noticed a lot in a lot of New England media picked up on on that It's something that I'm sure. It doesn't get the national attention than it gets around here and You know probably something that I need to write about on Cincy jungled to thank. Thanks no about a little bit at some point but Do that in the off season and things slow down but Yeah I think The browns her old families and I think overall I think Certainly Paul Brown the methods that he he taught really But you know and you see Bella check he. He likes the he likes the giants. He likes the Bengals you know he he likes the the old family owned teams Seems exhibiting preference for those so yeah no question about it. He's a great reverence for you know the the traditional football family when organizations the giants The steelers and the bengals slash browns with with Paul Brown and that tremendous lineage. It's tremendous history rather In in the NFL. That's all right. Well appreciate you joining me Again Bob associated the voice of the New England Patriots Appreciate You You're talking some football with me And you're you're welcome back anytime love Love Talking Ball guys know what they're talking about and I really appreciate Matt I I I enjoyed it and you feel the same I feel like I don't really know what I'm talking about. "She was in his house and reportedly overdosed on some sort of drug and was delivered by Monte. Nicholson to a hospital will where she was pronounced dead and pronounced dead. No nine one. One call was placed in fact a call was placed to somebody else to say. ooh things are looking bad bad for her and then they took her in the car and then he played on Sunday. Which I you know I? It's a stunner to me. I don't know I don't know that there's anything more to this than perhaps an overdose. But they've gone through his house and they found drugs and of course his lawyer as any lawyer would say goats number that they don't belong to my client. It's never seen them before. Has No idea how they got in his house. But is this not a story that you want to know what's next like I wanna know what's happened and I would think that the team would have some sort of statement or issue some sort of concern I think they did. It really thought they. They'll some author. I think the father of the deceased was said of Monty. Nicholson eating McCormick. Komi Komi think I was in the original story Let's go to the microphone because bill is a bill is a lawyer. As as bill says old Tommy walks in. Guess who's licensed just got reinstated. Well not officially never young people in prison all of this country who for what are called overdose homicides right now. Prosecutors are bringing these cases when you give someone would you. You'd have to have given the drug right. You have to gear indication of how they're in the same same house so that's going to be the question and then you add in and it's a it's a negligence homicide ha and so when you add in not going to the hospital immediately that the whole the whole negligence picture creates an issue that this lawyers gotta pay close attention to so it's is is ready and it's been it's been written about. I just think it's Jimmy Builder. Bill Callahan the redskins coach. Or I guess he's termed interim coach still said. The incident had no impact on the a team decision to allow Nicholson to play. That seems like an odd. It's like of course it. Didn't you allow him to play almost just like well. We weren't going to let them play. But when we heard about this Yeah that's no. I'm sitting here going. I don't know I'd like to learn a little bit more about this. You will I bet. They wish they could just go back to being one and nine nine and no one paying attention again over. I'm expecting a real big story. I'm expecting what we call him. A traitor tick tock story. We'll see ya ought to talk meaning is at live my man. I'm expecting today but I'm expecting that story. Post headline was pills. "You know, with with the Stanton trade, you could rationalize it because of the huge contracts we had twenty five million most of it back ended. So you could see why financially they had to get rid of Stanton. Or at least you could make that argument, but yelich was on a favorable contract. You know, they would've had to pay to resign him, obviously, same with JT real Mutoko to me, those were to building blocks that you keep you pay big to keep and you build around, you know, but they went for the complete breakdown in the complete groundfloor build up, which is. Largely excuse for low payrolls, excuse me. If you guys have covered this again, you've explained pretty well. To me why we traded JT because he wasn't going to be signed here. And he didn't have much time left on his contract, but yellow had plenty of time in his left on his deal. So what exactly was the leverage at Christian yelich head outside of just being a sour puss? He didn't have leverage. The the reason that they would give up this contract is because his contract was so favorable. They could get like of all those Oona standing yell at yelich could in theory, get back the most. But that was of how favorable is contract because of how good he he put put why? But it's also favorable contract to build. He's exactly the type of player that you'd want to build around. So he was obviously there was all sorts of rumors that yellowish was wasn't the easiest person to be around that final season. Yeah. He had some frayed relationships Billy, you know, more about the Marlins is that a fair assessment of what was going on with Christian yelich. There was a divas way to shrink. He just wasn't hat. He saw the re he's he saw and writing on the. Wall all the moves that were being made. So he just didn't want to be part of the rebuild. Well, what do, you know about the Billy because I'm tying the scenes like was he causing us thing. What? Yeah. Because I'm tr-. I'm struggling to figure out. Why exactly they let Christian yelich go? It's strange. I I don't know. I don't know why they'd let them go because he was under contract affordably until two twenty twenty two. So and the return they got I mean, you could say it's too early to judge the trade, and they got Lewis Brinson Monte Harrison. He signed d is and Jordan Yamamoto mall. One. That's been up right now has been Lewis Brinson guys all are still projected to be contributors at some are they doing while minors in three years. Monte Harrison is like our top prospect in the minors. Right. One of them as far as hitters, and then the pitcher I think I've I've read good things about like, obviously, we don't know. We haven't seen these guys. But in three years fingers crossed this could be a decent trade. But right now, it just looks so bad. So the jury's still out on that Greg this one it's starting to look worse than Cabrera just because. Because of the value that you'd get in yelich, and how little you paying. I can't believe we're already in the territory where after one season we're saying that this one might be worse than what is widely regarded to the modern era. The worse baseball trade of all time. Let's go to hold out after this season. He's making next year..

"So when I look at that list, Jim I look at a guy like Chris Carson, and to me, I would say Chris Carson now everybody that talked to they'd always talk about Philip Lindsay an incredible year, and he had an outstanding year. But I look at Chris Carson he played on the only team that really went to the playoffs out of all these guys and his year was very instrumental in them making a playoffs over eleven hundred yards and nine touchdowns. So for me, my two thousand eighteen TV p nominee winner would be Chris Carson. All right. Account like Lindsey myself. I like the way the guy goes about it. I like his game way gets after it. Maybe I'm looking at that more from my heart and my head. But I just I like this guy his background. I like his grit Lizzy to me is really tough Lally tough. Yes. No. Maybe so wrong answer. I love him. I think I think any of these guys Blake Martinez. He came on strong. I think Tyler boy was incredible. Until you got injured. I mean, all these guys play fantastic Kimmy gala day, even when go and tape was traded to Philadelphia he played well, even with a struggling Matthew Stafford I think any of these guys could definitely be the winner right surrounding before you go really quickly. You are a big golfer. Big time golfer question where were the better tracks San Diego or New England? I would say San Diego. But you know, the funny part about them back then I didn't even really play. I wasn't a big golfer back, then I would I would go to like these military golf course basis because I had a couple of friends in the military, and we used to play wasn't fancy, but I used to hit the ball all over the place, Jim, and I used to go through about fifteen eighteen balls in a round of golf. I ended up investing in my game buying better-equipped getting lessons. Now, I may only lose one ball during around here on really quickly. What is it about golf? I mean, I know the guys who like it love it can't get enough of it would do things to play around that. They would never do for anything else. What is it is it because you can never master it? It's the great equalizer. What do you love about that sport? Because it's nothing like the sport you used to play. Well, it is in the sense that you know, would football. You're always trying to work out and improve your game. You're always trying to learn a game. And I think golf is the same way I think this is an opportunity for me to go up and play and meet different people, see different places, and it doesn't matter. If you're twenty three years old you can play with somebody twenty three fifty eighty thirteen year old. I mean, it's just amazing the type of people and just a different type of golf courses the challenges. It's just a challenge that you know, you as an athlete you love just just the challenge of being there. And Jim let me tell you something. I've always watched you for years. Always had a lot of respect for you, man. When I was when I was just coming up in a game. And I appreciate you for bands. Always so kind and courteous to me and given me a platform to always come on, man. I appreciate you. I think you do a wonderful job. Appreciate saying that. I want to say really quickly the reason I did that one. I always appreciate the way you went about your work. I appreciate the way you play the game. But man, you were good content ride. You're always great to talk to your one of those guys. It was gonna come in and spit a bunch spit a bunch cliches. I mean, you didn't have an agenda, and you weren't coming for somebody per se, but you were never afraid to speak your mind, and that was rare then and it's rare now other than that heartache nation. Yeah. Yeah. And you know, and like I said any anything that I'd say on television. It's it's never personal. It's just you know, my opinion. And and you know, I think by my my opinion, I'm not always right? But you know, the intentions behind it are always in the right place. And you know, if you don't want criticism and play better Monte Harrison joining us, you know, it always appearing courtesy of busy on the top via performer award. Rod had been a long time. Really nice to have you on the show today. Man. Thank you very much. I'll look for you in Atlanta. You too, buddy. God bless you. I see you in the land of. Thank you. Rodney Harrison felt great. I'm so glad that we could do that. You know? There are lots of guys these come on the program quite a bit. And for whatever reason like Andy Reid, I told that story this week. You just have trouble wanting down somebody when they move or situations change that was the first time the longtime, and that was really nice, but thanks to Rodney Harrison, our number two coming up, in fact, when we come back somebody who's never been on the program shock, a smart. "They have some prospects. Well. Okay. Like we're doing semantics on how not enough not enough. No. But not enough Chris like for all the rebuilding. They've done. They've got a week week farm system stand. You've got thoughts on all this. Well, look, I I mean. Yeah, I follow it as a fan, and there's not much there. You know, they don't have a lot of prospects. I mean, it's hard to look at that team and see any hope within the next five years. But this is the things then you saw it at Lanta, you left the Marlins you outrage, you were a fan for one of the few times in your life. I saw on the fan another sports, and and certainly when I have friends involved, and so when Fredi Gonzalez got fired. Yeah. I was I was out of there wasn't a Marlins fan anymore became a Braves fan the brave Braves the brain foul. The Marlins again Kaz Freddie's back is third base cut. The Braves were bad. Stan and got good really fast. Good and cheap fast. It's not like these perpetual usages of the Marlins farm system here to feed the rest of the league's in the sport because they're continually doing nothing more than making money off of a business and doing things that are incongruent like trading a young valuable catcher who's in a cheap contract yet. Look, I mean every. Buddy thought the Braves we're going to be good. I mean, you read all the preseason stuff last year. It was just a matter of nobody thought they were going to be that good that quickly. But everybody thought they were going to be good that this was a team that had good prospects. I don't read anything from baseball people that is raving about the Marlins prospects or anything else. I mean, I it's an entirely different situation. And the Braves were never as bad as the Marlins have been. So that's the thing. I mean, if you have young prospects, you can be bad and play your prospects develop them. But if these are not people that are projected to be in your future. Why not go out and get players that people have heard of and take a risk on them. Like, why not try it Troy to it's over a JT riddle because he hasn't been good since doesn't fourteen in played. He's been injured for a year and a half. But he's healthy now. So why not take a flyer on him? I mean, he was just released. So you're not gonna have to pay him a ton of money. You know, what's great, Billy. I love. I love that. "Who is a species J here Meyer need those guys. But I mean, you just gotta get Brinson hit two fifty and you'll be happy with that. I assume anyway, yet, I think anything at this point anything over to fifty is welcomed, and then the power's gonna gonna help them out there. He'll he'll be a hip probably have over thirty extra base hits. Is there? Comprehend packed layer could comp. Yeah. That pretty good. Honestly. I mean. Yeah, bucks. But he's got more pop them books than those. Yeah. Yeah. But you gotta show it though, honestly Jackie's not a bad cop for him Jackie's, really not back on Jackie has pop. He's plays goal defense Emmys and he's fast. Yeah. I mean, it's a pretty depressing comparisons. If you ask me, but as Dave smooth players, we careful that is that is my favorite player at, hey. We're talking about different things here, though, we got got the guy who headlined the Christian yelich steel. And then, you know, Jackie Bradley plays fantastic defender. I love him. But I'd expect him to hit to no apps. No. I I agree who if Moncada and kopech don't pan out the way they should for Chris sale. White Sox fans are gonna be like we gave up. What for what like? Yeah. And that's the same way with that deal. So Brinton will be out there starting this year. He'll be playing obviously Anderson we'll be playing somewhere on the team this year. Whether it be their base right field. Is it I left you wrong. To think the Anderson is kind of a stopgap until the next wave is ready. I guess let's put it that way. And then Anderson will move to third. I mean. Yeah, I think defensively the the type of guys you have right now, you could slut the guys you have right now in the minor leagues defensively, and they would obviously played better right field than him. So he'll he's he's a third baseman who can play some pretty good right field. That's how I see. So here's a question. Ira. No Brenton's gonna be out there. First day opening day is Monte Harrison going to be an outfielder for the Marlins on opening day. I highly doubt that very highly doubt. Do you think he comes up during the year? Maybe. So as I heard like not pushing him I feel like he's ready to come up yesterday. Personally. Monte Harrison starts like for me. I started him in Jacksonville. Aa? Gotcha. Again in Jacksonville to right. Yeah. I he I think he struck out near full forty percent of the time. He struck out over two hundred times. Yeah. And in the in the major leagues, that's just not gonna cut it. If it's forty percent of w rent. Now, you go to major leagues it will probably be like sixty just to put it into respective. He got more than Joey Gallo in less games. He did he did. But also even strike me out two hundred and fifteen times this year he'd better to forty in nineteen home runs. Yes. So you you can see the the the potential he he's gotten pain exit villas like the the things they put out. There are crazy. Thank his average exit bellows above. One hundred is Abby is just I'd always make contact. Yeah. Because he he at twenty doubles last year. Yeah. So he he could be if if he can manage to bring his hit up to like fifty he could be a guy who hit thirty home runs a year place. Great defense hits like to sixty..

"Rated Babe Ruth. Visit the thing you ever everything. Borger? What was the worst set is trade Cabrera or Christian yelich? Well, the Cabrera one you can judge now the one you can't yell yellow twin certainly at the chance, but I don't think yelich pin ever be Cabrera. So you have to go Carreira, but don't forget at the time. And by the way, this means nothing anymore made it a Miller were to the top prospects in baseball. It'd be like trading to the Braves for kunia, plus Albee's and having them both absolutely not make it. They were sure things they were. Sure things both of them. No. I know you're being no, no, no, no. I'm not being cusick. No Cameron Cameron. Make those your. Things. You're absolutely right. Miller became that somewhere else. Maybe never did. But you're right. They were sure thing just like Lewis Brinson. Well, no Lewis. Princeton was not in the top five of all baseball. Not a sure thing, and neither was Monte Harrison. But listen you as you know, in baseball, it's too early after another year or two I would say you can judge the yellow trade, but not quite yet does it caused you any degree of shame or I don't even know what the word is. I'm looking for that. The Marlins franchise is responsible for trading. The last two nationally MVP's. No, I was I was wondering whether JT will now with the MVP because things tend to happen in threes, if they trade JT, and then he would win the MVP that would be certainly a record. No, I don't have shame in it. It's sort of. It's it's it's not a great stat for us in Miami. Having standing yelich when it back to back. I'm sure it's embarrassing to Derrick and and other owners of the Marlins or they try to dismiss it as necessary. So I know I feel zero shame at all. I make you feel a tiny bit of pleasure. But I wouldn't say that on the air waiter. We still on. You reference being a lawyer earlier and not completely forgotten that we were you ever a practicing attorney like what was your type of law passed in New York bar? And then I mean, we started a company in Europe selling newspapers actually, have you heard that you have you heard this story. Listen to this story how Samson's career started. It's crazy. Which one out of law school back then there was no internet, and I couldn't get New York knick scores. And I was a huge Knicks, man. And I wanted to get Nick scores in Europe. And the only way to do it was with the Herald Tribune, which always had a day late. So we tried to get the New York Times to Europe same day and ended up doing it. So I was basically a newspaper delivery boy, the New York Times in Europe, the forty internet started, and then the internet started. And I realized that that may not work out for me. "And the there's just a lot of different ways to line these guys up based on where teams are in the competitive cycle. Let alone your own. Personal preferences for the type of prospect that you one if it's, you know, the tools Monte Harrison type or the super-safe immediately ready. Brian Anderson types, I think there are a lot of different ways you can line players up. So I apologize for maybe putting on the spot with a difficult question that will test your memory? But you look at the teams enter the top. You got the Padres. Braves White Sox raise Bluejays like teams at the bottom. Mariners Red Sox Orioles. Royals diamondbacks. Bad news who are heels and Royal is going to be some bad start your time. But I was curious if you can recall, at least, anecdotally, I know you said you haven't really ranked farm systems in a couple of years, but at least off the top of your head. Can you recall teams farm systems that you remember getting better or getting worse in a surprisingly short amount of time? Yeah. And it's always teams that undergo significant rebuilds like if you would've looked this arriving with this math eight months ago, oh where Noah little over a year ago now right that the Marlins would have. Probably been near the bottom of it to the brewers when they started to rebuild a couple years ago and acquire like each on from the Diamondbacks and that that group of players some of whom are on the big league club. Now that team turned things around very quickly. The Braves went from a relatively bad form system to acquiring Tuckey and Dan's Swanson, and then drafting all these pitchers who have panned out pretty quickly. That's another example of it's, you know, if the cubs would probably be an example of this having not traded away away, Jimenez and labor Torres and some other players as well. But of course, they had a parade. So that's fine. And then yeah, I mean, the Padres to have really added a whole lot of talent in a lot of different ways since AJ prowler has taken over and then rebuilt the woebegone roster like the Craig kimbrel deal and Justin Upton like ones those guys are. It to be sold off the that system got very good very quickly. So it is possible. And like I would just like to remind everyone that like the these rankings are based on where we had everyone ranked at the end of the season. And so as we redo everyone's right up like some of this stuff is going to change somewhat drastically over the next few months. Like, I know the Diamondbacks will probably have to more fifties than they do right now. Just based on how jazz his omen. Don't Varsha have looked in the fall league. And there are a lot of examples like that where the stuff will change. But generally at the very top it won't or just think it's their dedicated rebuilds and teams that were very aggressive internationally because they had the opportunity to be able to do that quickly as well. That's not necessarily the case anymore because of the way international signing roles have changed. You can't go spend one hundred forty million dollars on Cubans and Dominicans and and have like. Ten really interesting players. Suddenly your system anymore. You have your pool mounts capped their hard cap now, and you can only spend so much internationally that will slow teams desire to rebuild as well. So yeah. In general, I think it's income from trading players way. But, but it is possible to have quick form form system turnarounds. He has a patriots have forty six ranked prospects on this list. And no other team has more than thirty six. That is pretty good. It's a big separation there, of course, the Padres have been bad to mediocre for a really long time now, so they should have some prospects. But still it's this like up there with the best systems you've seen that you're aware of in the less decade or two. I mean, I don't know do they compare to like the Royal systems several years ago before they won is kind of in a class of its own or do you see comparables there? I think this is ordered its own entity. Because as I said like this..

"All right off season your pizza garbage okay that's right i'm personifying the offseason you don't do anything at all all the time we recorded our podcast on thursday finish up what i believe is a fantastic episode which is upcoming and then christian yours get straight you know what gf why offseason dumbest offseason ever that said we've got news woo i don't have you know with me i don't even have justin with me i'm putting the finishing touches on the episode that has already been recorded and justin has already produced but i couldn't i could pose there without saying anything about yellow jsoc christian jahn which was dealt from the marlins to the brewers for lewis brinson monte harrison ice india's in jordan yamamoto nice hall for the marlins finally they finally get a nice steel there on on one of their big guys go and you know there was rumors that they are asking for vlad junior and a koonya dr right i mean i'm not saying that they should have gotten no saying like if you're going to try to guy like this and establish big leaguer ask for the top you don't come in asking for what you would settle for you come in at the very top and then you bring it down saw they talk with those teams the interesting part is you know as far as the jays go there's not a lot to go down to where you're still getting a a big haul maybe a bobishenko led package could have done it with the braves they coulda gone a lot of different ways if they still wanted to to deal with them but i understand that like you know if we're going to give you kind of our centerpiece guy now you better give us you better give us your centerpiece guy or feature centerpiece guys i i get it i get i get why they're asking for obviously brinson is not a koonya or vlad junior but they also got probably better supplemental pieces than they would have gotten had they had they made one of those deals with the braves or the blue jays monte harrison ice and d as both former a onetime top one hundred prospects i believe.

"And rules and smaller financing and structure entrenching basically you happy give the internet a chance to rebuild the entire venture capital industry through the saint painful lessons but learning the much much faster and my guess is it's actually doable i think it we left the internet while west a level what happened is a full it at the monte harrison part it's a lot of people who were in a lot of scams lose money which is terrible but actually fine because they also made a ton of money with bitcoin through them along the way most of them are just demined their bitcoin during weddings they'll learn very fast they'll become very skeptical and my guest is two years from now in initial coin offering will be a lot more careful they'll have do full disclosures they're going to have governance they're going to have reputable people involved the probably raise much smaller amounts of capital they'll have checkpoints and milestones investing they'll have investor activists board cetera cetera but the industry needs time to figure that out the mistake would be for the regulators to come into heavyhanded and business the federal the innovation they want snuff it out just go to another country overseas it'll go anonymous it'll disappear into the internet isn't natually internet things at once the cats out of the bag the doesn't disappeared just changes form so you could try and drive it underground but i think that would be a huge error because i think that silicon valley model of funding at least four protocols maybe not in other areas but at least for protocols the silicon valley model funding is on its way out so the question is does the rest of the world one it's share or not and i in if i was a regulator or a politician or a financier anywhere else in the world i want what access i would look at token innovation as a great thing but in the short to they do have to worry about our people getting outright scam so i think that the financial regulators do heavy burden where they have to go after obvious scammers they have to force full disclosure and they probably have i mean they have to enforce the security law and run the book the sec for example doesn't ripe law is in force them so they have to enforce law.

"The problem is along the way it's going to have lots of shrugged lots of scams and it's going to take a couple of years or people with enough money that they become a lot more careful in the start demanding oversight in governance and rules than smaller financing and structure entrenching basically you happy give the internet a chance to rebuild the entire venture capital industry through the saint painful lessons but learning that much much faster and my guess is it's actually doable i think it we left the internet while west a level would happen is a full it at the monte harrison part it's a lot of people who were in a round of scams lose money which is terrible but actually fine because they also made a ton of money with bitcoin through him along the way and most of them are just dan when they're bitcoin during weddings they'll learn very fast go become very skeptical and my guest is two years from now in initial coin offering will be a lot more careful they'll have do full disclosures they're going to have governance they're going to have reputable people involved it probably raise much smaller amounts of capital they'll have checkpoints and milestone investing they'll have an investor activists ord separate cetera but the industry needs time to figure that out the mistake would be for the regulators to come in too heavyhanded and basically snuff out all the innovation snuff it out just go to another country it will just go overseas it'll go anonymous it'll disappear into the internet is initially internet things at once the cats out of the bagged a dozen disappeared just changes form so you could try and drive it underground but i think that would be a huge error because i think that silicon valley model of funding at least four protocols maybe not in other areas but at least for protocols the silicon valley bottle funding is on its way out.
