"In addition to all that I listed. I think what is different now, and I could be wrong, and you're observing this is a native Californian who has lived. But now, you know, transferred back and forth from Saint. I mean, I it's funny. You know, sorry side note. I mean, I think. I feel more all the time like Saint Louis. I don't think we're going to leave ever you're in your bosses though. I leverage. But that that I think the difference now. And I keep saying this, which I think is great is that because I've been saying this now I've been doing radio in the market for for sixteen years in television almost twenty years which is saying something because it's weird to me. View myself as young even those. This guy's like almost twenty years younger than me per sheet the shirt, by the way. Yeah. Look at that represents it's all Chelsea going on here, which by the way, Chelsea is kind of like the New York Yankees soccer, right? Kind of not hardcore soccer guy that I've you. I've you Manchester United that way, my accurate and my off the menu and Chelsea both. They're both. They're they're the dueling what they the keys and Red Sox would that be fair or we have our? Analogy. He's better now. It been very good. Is that right? All I know is I bet on the overs on Sunday morning. And I don't even know what I'm betting on. That's what I know. But but the, but that people now David I feel like are aware of that Saint Louis has problems. Whereas before say when I was talking about the stuff in two thousand two and two thousand three when I thought it was obvious that we had problems. I'd get shouted down. Plus, I was like in my early twenties. And so, you know, people who do you think you are you need your ten years occurred. Yeah. And I know I've been here for twenty years like, well, he must, but but I think what happened. They're kind of like a why didn't Jason Heyward won a stay here. Why did what was the Ferguson thing? And what the Rams when leave were great fans and Giancarlo Stanton would rather play here instead of the best fans in baseball. And what the hell happened with the soccer vote and people are talking about the unification of the city and the county, and they're credible people. Yeah. Mark montavani almost one when people were perceiving him as right to work on a ballot. That had the right to work issue on it. And so obviously a lot of union voters come out, and he's still. Almost one because of his change platform and a guy that was running in a democratic primary and a lot of people are like is kind of Republican. You know, I mean that people are gonna whoa things are different. And so I feel like the climate is proper for the change that I think the region needs to actually occur. We're still in the top of the first of the game. But a lot of talking about like the better together movement. I'm talking about an acknowledgement. I don't even I'm talking on movements. I know in some capacity, that's even politicized for those who dig into it and who's behind it and all of that better together. Yeah. Super bowl. Yeah. I know something. No, no, it's great because it's unifying the city and county, and it's like, yeah. But here's there's more issue that super political, right? But but the it's different now talking about Saint Louis, which is why I think there's interest in it because people acknowledge we have problems whereas before when you talked about it was almost like shit. I don't want to say anything because we're talking about. It's more cheerleader being critical. I think that perspective is actually really helpful your perspective you're having right now in your discussing. It's actually really helpful for the for the region because. If you look from that perspective at what's happening right now. What you see is not a. Alderman trying to block a stadium because they hate soccer or because they don't want. What's good for the region? It's it's that alderman are honestly looking in our region and saying like, okay soccer might be great. But we have other needs. And these needs are frankly Moore's significant than a soccer team. You know, a smart persons going to say, we can't you know, the social needs..

"But it is, I think the first step to being to being able to address those fundamental problems that you know, I think basically everybody in the Saint Louis region recognizes we have new might say, well, this was kind of irrelevant to what I'm talking about or you might go, I'm glad you're bringing this up because I thought it was relevant. I don't know where you are on the. So the Saint Louis county executive race, very tight race in Mark montavani at least talked about in some capacity change. I know when he was in here, he was on our show and on the podcast to different times and he enthused our audience. I think in a similar way that your comment. Enthused, although I wouldn't necessarily say they're one in the same, but they indicated desire for change and and he lost. What did you think of the Saint Louis county executive race? Yeah. I mean, it was interesting race. I mean, to be perfectly honest, I'm sorta surprised. Mantovani did as well as he did being, you know, first time candidate and what was on the ballot. Exactly and the right to work, and you know, man of Audie running democratic primary with sort of Republican background, but the fact that he did as well as he did, and he was talking about those things I think is an indication that perhaps people in Saint Louis county are more ready to hear about the stuff and talk about the stuff, and they would have been a decade ago and you know that that is a good thing and I don't. I didn't really have a strong opinion on that. But if Manamani was out there saying, yeah, it's time to consider reorganising reorganizing government and he, you know, got what forty nine and a half percent. I. Think that's an indication that it's not, you know, it's not political suicide in the county to be out saying those things anymore. When you say that the unification of the government's isn't necessarily the silver ball at the panacea of we sit in here, we sit on the radio columnist, right? We talk about the problems, but oftentimes people don't necessarily have an idea for a solution you've been in the business of at least trying for solutions, which I think is probably one of the things that frustrated when you couldn't necessarily deliver them for circumstances out of your control in an ideal world. So we're talking idealistic more so than pragmatic. But at an ideal world, what would you say are some of the elements of solution for Saint Louis in the region? What I think is the city and county ought to be one big city of one point, three million people. We'd be one of the ten largest cities in the country. You pool all those resources. You have one, you know, well, resource police department. You get rid of all these kangaroo municipal courts, the prey on people throughout Saint Louis county. You know, you train your police department to the highest standards and expect the most of them in compensate them fairly. You provide an equitable level of service across the whole region. You know, right now, you know whether you're sidewalks get fixed, whether you're the grass and your part gets cut, you know, clearly school districts. I'm gonna leave school district out of this maybe for a minute, but but there's all these other. Categories of service that government delivers in. They are vastly vastly different depending on where either within this region. And is that fair? You know, I, I'm, I don't the longer I look at it the less and less fair. It seems it seems that we've got. It's just a historical accident, right? The city and county separated in eighteen seventy six had that not happened. We would most likely be in a situation where we were one big city. And then you had this proliferation of municipalities that quite honestly, at the time was, was the formation of municipalities was driven largely not entirely, but largely by racism and white flight and an attempt to for people, you know, middle class people to insulate themselves from black people, which is a a terrible legacy. And now we're living with that legacy. And you know, I question. Should we maintain that legacy and try to fix it? Or should we start with something newer where? And the other thing it does. You know, we're not because we're in different municipalities, and we're the city and county have different governments. It's impossible for the region..

"So you know, you want growth and growth is going to come with people either from outside the market moving in or from here in the market, staying and impart wanting to live downtown. But I get people not wanting to. It's like I'm chastising people that I think another thing is speaking condescending, I would necessarily call condescending, but there's this element and I'm again, fifth time city native and my family still lives there, and I love it. I love the city, but there's kind of this thing was some city people like. Oh, you moved, you know, to Saint Louis county, fuck you, you know? And that doesn't really doesn't again, kind of like you don't win people over by calling them bigots and stupid. You don't really win people over by you sold out or why do you live out there all the strip malls and chain restaurants, you know, sell your own merits and you know, as opposed to shitting on the people who got it. 'cause a lot of people, it's just all they grew up in the county. They don't know anything about it. They think he's going to city in for whatever reason, picture boys in the hood, even though we know it's not the truth, but you know, you help yourself by by talking about the merits of it. There are a lot of great things. I love my neighborhood, love it where I grew up, love it. It's, it's like my dad always says he grew up in south city, the lows in and then over near Saint Raphael's and south city, and now Tam avenue. Here's just a neighborhood because you don't have that much anymore. It's a neighborhood and most people listening this probably don't even own talking. I'd run also probably don't even care, but it is. It's. I love that element. So I still go back to my grade school school picnic, you know, I love that. I absolutely love that. And I think there's great value to it community. I really do in Saint Louis has that, but it also has so many other issues. And you know, I think I really think it was an unfortunate miss for Mark montavani not to get elected, and I'm not saying Mark montavani was going to be able to solve it, but I think it would have been a step in the right direction. I just think and it's not necessarily because Mark Mark was the first one to say it. I think he's how old he is, but he's in his sixties. It's not. It's not a youth thing. It's a new thing. It's it's a need for new voices leading as opposed to the establishment. Treading water. And I think Mark would have played a role net in the county. And I think that would be refreshing in the city. I don't know if it's possible, but that's one of the things that I think this region needs. Oh, right. Let's see what else we got. What do you think is the number one misconception people have about you and or the show? Good question. Let's see. I think I. I think there's an assumption that we all hang out together, and I think he kind of want that I've heard stern when he interviews people who work together on shows or movies, and he goes, you ever talked to so. And so he worked within this movie and the, oh, you know, I mean, I see. Yeah, because that disappointing isn't it. So weird. Shoot a movie work with these people day in day out and just kind of talk like you're gonna see each other all the time, but in reality that's kinda it. It'll never. It'll never be the way and so for us on the show because you hear us for those of you listen to the Ryan Kelly morning after, you know. The chemistry playing off each other. You would just assume that we're like all hanging out to get up at the reality is it's now because we don't like each other. The reality is it's just the plow hawk as his world Iggy has his world, whatever that might be that underworld. "Fresh sanctions on Iran kicked in, as we went on air on Tuesday preventing the government from trading gold and, other precious metals blocking the nation. From selling, or acquiring various industrial metals the US also reaffirms, plans to reimpose tougher penalties on the. Country's, oil sales in November and. A televised, address president Ronnie said. Iran was open to talks the US is sincere but insisted such dialogue could be. Pointless was the nation is being hit with sanctions Bloomberg's gonna montavani joins us from Tehran for the latest Great deal and I think there's a huge amount The Europeans can provide he said last night in this interview that the Chinese and the Russians and Turkey. Going to, be very important favor on going forward of course Turkey and China, in particular have stood up question against these sanctions and we know that China. Is refusing to its imports of oil. From Iran so that's going to be very. Important and there's a big question Mark Mingo more the European Union can providing practical, terms instead of just rhetoric and politics for Iran but. In terms of what wrong can do Honey can do to, try and carry what's happening it's it's it's going to be limited I think. And right now he's already facing a. Massive currency crisis which is empowered reflection of. The government's inability to to handle and coat with the impact that this decision has, made already on the economy and on finances We've been covering firsthand the, struggles of. Of the government to try and contain inflation to try, and control the pressures on the currency gives us perhaps the firsthand accounts as well the latest in terms of how people Ron specifically are dealing with this Well it's it's it's very tough obviously I sense that they've been through this before in two thousand twenty At, the end of twenty twelve we sold the currency to take its. First major depreciation breach a record low a. Major, record low for the first time, because of sanctions then but, this is much this is much harsher now this is this is much stronger and I think the senses the more often this happens to Iran was the, consequences will be because of the pulse eighteen months to two years after the. Nuclear deal came into effect the economy was, covering, from the, impact of those. Those. Previous round of sanctions so this is this is kind of like Another severe wound to the country, before it's even recovered from, from the the initial hit that it got all the all the very extensive below that it received in in in twenty twenty twelve and also in two, thousand and six so there is a sense next for the for the industrial. Side of this story because we've seen names How'd you saying we have no option but to remove our investment from to stop doing business the German envoy this morning. On press reports is saying that the US may lie some sanctions live some exemptions what next for industry Well it's, going to, be again it's. Not going to be Very difficult going forward and I think if, you look today the fact that these first rounds of sanctions they also that. Your, toes industry Iran is the, biggest carpentry streaming the lease Again every time we have around of sanctions here it affects the industries that exists here fix the oil. Industry when those sanctions hit oil affects production production and affects the efficiency and the health of the production or production. Line and those pipelines and the same goes for the car industry when you take out foreign investment in the comedy veteran. Sets the industry lags behind global standards about affects production, already production lines have reduced significantly about fifty fifty to. Sixty percent compared to last year in in the biggest stake hop producer so there's no doubt, that there's going to be massive massive, pitzer to Iran's domestic manufacturing base outside of all this was, a dramatic week for. The lira after it plunged to another record low on Monday a diplomatic spat with, the United States deepened silence from the central Bank and the government was deaf As the currency buckled speculation began to swirl about capital controls even in I am a bailout we got more with Zina risky director of fixed income capital our. Emerging markets managed to get it to just to carry it with forty eight hours on from that big sell off. In the lira and so the space if you like the air the airspace is being filled by all these rumors is. A capital controls is coming in you take those two, we've discussed capital controls many times on this program took. Probably very reluctant to do that because it's a very trade manufacturing based economy capital controls would, be pretty much suicide it's not like, Russia which depends on commodities that can get away with it The other alternative IMF what I find that very. Difficult to believe the message say they haven't been? Approached by Turkey not a surprise there because to. A great extent the situation we're in now is kind of self inflicted so what are the I'm African say you did this to yourself. And, now you're coming to us for help I find that kinda difficult to believe let's bring in our guest is in a risk. At she joins us part of. What we're reading this morning so Justin sort of Whitman tan. That it would be an extreme scenario for capital controls is probably be the antithesis of what Irwin wants numerous say what you need is. A demonstrative statement from, the central Bank which is, sort of on equivocal that runs contrary to ruin is that what we need to stop. The rot I think. I think he doesn't. Have a choice a big thing should happen otherwise they won't stop and the capital markets won't stop dropping uncertainties. Very big uncertainties big on all levels. Stop otherwise the capital markets would be completely shut down and they would continue Widening we put together a. Charter show the scale? Of what exactly's, underway in Turkey I mean medicine myself we went through this chart this. Shows what's been happening with those yields, as the search to twenty percent and the collapse in the currency the Turkish lira now pretty much one of. The worst performing the worst performing EM currency in the world just in I'm trying to get my head around why president Richard labor the. One who is a calculated head of state who has been in power for fifteen years who understands the dynamics of of global power. Relations why this would be a price worth paying? For this dispute around the pastor seems a very. High price to pay and if anything would seem to be something else to the story that Richard type Irvan stance to game well you're. Asking, me about wins personality to some degree and I can't really looking But you have a man who is a very nationalistic. Very proud wants to take Turkey in the direction that. He thinks is the, correct one his focus is growth is not an economic thinker he's a man of. The people he talks, the people's language and to. Some degree this crisis really isn't at the forefront of the Turks minds if you look at the newspapers in, Tokyo they're not. Talking, about the lyric crisis so all sorts of other things so in fact the Brunson issue is, probably more of a kind of something to be, proud of. On the streets for Turks and he's able to rally Turks around this issue because he's standing up to the giant west the United States and. So that gives him a certain a certain amount of Manton certain amount of extra popularity I don't think he's going. To back down on this but they'll come to some kind of deal where neither Trump no one loses. Face, I think that's the way it's probably going to, end but as I've said Before. Even if that's resolved we're not.

That might actually be a pretty big deal I didn't realize that was going to be a dealbreaker for, some people if it is a deal breaker and we're. Still a hundred. Behind and we can't get more qualified officers, in and that's one of the reasons why not just remove that barrier, I think that might not. Be the worst problem at least temporarily then put in, a grandfather clause if you decide to put it back in the future and then the people that moved out. Just move down I don't know I know that. In theory it's a good thing but let's not talk about in theory what are the facts were one, hundred and some police officers down that's a very difficult. Thing to overcome I'm watching the speech from Mark montavani Got a nice suit on that let's see what he's saying. Held hostage by those damn antiquated machines Such is life and so it goes. As they say all right so. Now you've got now you've got seven minutes left in the room Hi so apparently he's he's. Looking to doesn't have anything left maybe. We'll wait.
