"Plus bidder milk burnt grapefruit bidders plus line. Okay wow wow all right well good. It's good to know the chat is bringing the complicated drinks. We're just going to bring you the news and are fun. Game half full half empty and then roll on into the weekends. What i just. I'm kimberly i want you to go first on the news because i'm in love with the topic that you're bringing say well i i wanted to sort of tangentially related to the actual news so We're getting a lot of rain here on the east coast leftover from a hurricane elsa and in new york. It's just crazy like the rain coming down or it's it's really wild and there were these these videos of the flooding in the subway and all this stuff and climate change so the guardian. Has this piece that where the headline is basically new york city's storm flooding shows that climate change is real. You know basically if you didn't believe it yet so all of this works because of an epiphany that i had last night that i have been sharing with everyone who will listen to me because since my nieces here I've been watching more kid content and so last night we were watching this new. Tv show on disney plus which is like from the monsters inc franchise called monsters at work. And i suddenly realized that this is all about climate change in the fossil fuel industry the whole monsters inc. franchise because if you think about it the monsters inc they rely on a particular type of extractive energy generation which involves harming children and then someone discovers a brand new way of getting energy that isn't as harmful to children and then the big industry fights back and says no. You can't do that. That's a whole. I don't want to give away the rest of the pot of monsters inc but in this new tv show basically they have this young Monster who's been training his whole life to be a scare and then he shows up at work on the first day to realize that they don't need scares anymore. They need people who are funny or monsters. Who were funny and he has to go through retraining and just you know so anyway i. I couldn't believe that i've missed first time. Yeah totally and then it was begging it right and so i found one other person. Apparently had this a epiphany a couple of weeks ago on in wrote about it for. I believe a newspaper in australia. And i don't know that just sort of like floored me and apparently youtube would i slacked you. I know i mean. I really truly had not thought of it at all and then this flicks piece from australia notes. That in fact it sounds like an ambitious reading it so obvious writes this person. I almost felt ashamed for noticing it earlier. Like they literally you know. Seen apparently in the beginning of the first movie according to this piece is like yeah..

"Okay back games. Okay well no. I i mean i'll i'll just close my thoughts with our swollen. I i enjoyed it. But i'm basic level. I think this is as good as a lot of things. Disneyesque put out is definitely better than some their original movies. But i would like to see what they do at the the last the other three observes the fry even say. Oh this has got. This is not what they're going to happen. They're going to come in siren for now. I'd get a seven item. Because i mean it doesn't it's not bad i mean it's definitely hitting the ci- at once and i did laugh at the jokes. It wasn't like god. This is just for low kids now. But i do feel i from the first episode. This might be geared towards a younger audience. But i'll i'll see if there's anything deeper going on. Yeah just basically for people who really love monsters inc and they wanna see the further adventures of than the. It's the now you say. Video games while the only video game. They weren't created in a lab though so there wasn't the chemical excellent then but i mean the story is kinda i mean. The reason why the developer here he made us to authentically represents a any ask game because when you look at game play for zodiac deacs. Besides the low-key and that's another thing when loki is it's last episode. We'll talk about that because that is next week. Six episodes of the show for now. There's another show that just said disney plus as of today monsters inc is back sully and mike after they defeated the evil crab. Why guys name and also slither not slither. What oh sure. I've got the bad guys on monsters inc but they say the day helped there Little human girl and now they opened up a business as if he knows in the end of the first movie. Now monsoon zangas all about laughing so every monster. They got a job to do. And that job is to make the make the human children dear not scare them. We don't scare anymore. We laugh we. We make them giggle. Well unfortunately one new employees to monsters inc did not get the memo so komo see it. Yeah so then in the the this actually takes place like hours after the end of the first monsters inc movie so like they are actively changing the business like right now like the things are like they just started this whole deal about creating a laugh the laugh track now or not laughing machine whatever it's called it. No not if when and he gives him the certificate and order to go apply for monsters inc while that's happening the now there's having it have new leadership because the nevada the first movie. He got kick tease in jail. So who's going to lead the monsters inc company. That is mike and sully. Those two are now the ceo of monsters inc. Which is interesting because mike if you remember him from the movies he is followed himself. So we're sully is like jesus i after glade. Everything mike is like. Oh yeah gergen crack jokes. We're gonna have a comedy act. I'm gonna do this. I'm going to do that. I'm going to get a raise. I'm gonna.

Yeah where we weird and occasionally talk about games we do we do and you know occasionally we'll even have other people shot the reason why i mean 'cause i wanna make sure i get everything working here like i want there to be no problems. I love i love to having a era albion. He was a great addition. But i don't want to be in a situation where i'm having a bunch of technical problems. I'm wasting anybody's time. You waste my time every week while okay at least we waste your time in a good way now now. No you saying it's not. Hey people i do you know why that bite why people like friends and daisy allies. Or what's another one. I've never liked friends that show. I ran identical. They'll screw that show anyway. But people like drama people make when to actors to say man. You cheated on my wife. No you cheated on my wife. This is the end we are. We are never going to be. We are never ever ever arcane. I regret i regret no doubt but so even today regarding the topic straightforward talk about today ono. Oh oh there you go. I share our guy button. So okay i was like oh now i want my gosh like i'm actually looking at side like i'm actually like right next to you. Like oh my gosh. You got to be got to be strong. You can do this. Disney plus is releasing their shows on wednesdays banks low key so it's now going to be for everything why not jump the jump on instead of waiting for friday. I mean monsters inc. And i the other actor. I think everybody return who is in the last movie. 'cause i i'll say when i saw the first episode i recognize everybody's voice as far as the returning characters so for those who want authenticity monster zinc as far as the voice delivery and getting the though their characters gather ups but news new series new sequel and actually a new protagonist which i.

"It. Yeah, that's the businesswoman coming. We'll make a deal. No, that sounds good. Yeah, Double? Yeah, 50 bucks. I mean, this is a rare game. I think I said 100, I'm pretty. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, OK. I feel like this is trade. EEO. What are we doing here? I love it. Welcome to trade, e o e mails. Ball busters. That's right. But Luke on Disney. Plus is fantastic. I love this movie. It's about little sea monsters. It's about friendship. It's about differences. Family Now at first, I was a little scared because in the first few minutes I thought, Is this going to be like Little Mermaid? Oh, the and then the next few minutes, I'm thinking Who is this going to be? Just like finding Nemo. But its unique and it does have a very cute story and what I really loved about it. Is that my my 18 month old he was digging it. He loved it. But also their stuff for the adults. You know that will go over their head. Then you I lost at Lado a few times. Exactly Last time was into it. He was into it. Yeah, he was, and I laughed out loud for a few times. So there's a few trippy moments that kids will be like, Yeah, And as adults were going what is actually really happening here? All this is trippy. And I also wonder, too. How much Vespa paid to be a part of this film because they're highly Featured. I see because it's it's base in Italy. And there's this really cool sea monsters and they have unique abilities. We keep this. This movie spurred. I forgot the source of the The op ed. But it spurred an op ed and the topic was Why isn't Pixar as good as it used to be, and I look, they they've had some sort of Mrs. But I think picks are still getting it done. They said, you know, basically saying soul wasn't a home run. Onward wasn't a home run. This isn't an home run. Um I would politely disagree. I think Pixar Is still producing some of the best original stories. You know, we're so used to and look, I am a proud recipient of this, but we're so Used to. Right now we're in an era where we're just spoon fed intellectual properties that have already been created in new versions of it, And I'm talking, you know, comic book movies and star wars, and I love all of these things. So for Pixar to be a studio that routinely delivers original stories. That by itself should be celebrated. So I don't I don't I didn't agree with this op Ed and their take on since John Lasseter has left. Oh, yeah, that it doesn't have the magic that it used to. Mommy. We're also comparing it to a toy story and finding Nemo and just huge hits, then Monsters, Inc But yes, Yeah, it's and it's always had possibly bar maybe. Yeah, I mean, they've had They've had someone even movies, even in their earlier days. Bug's life. Yeah, The car's, too, was a little uneven. Um, some people would say Wally was a little uneven, not a huge hit. The good dinosaur was basically a flop. In the Incredibles. Well, the Incredibles was really good. Yeah. Box office and critical wise And the other ones. The other ones too. Like the Yeah. Okay, so both. Actually, The Incredibles was just listed as I believe, Number one as the new reason Pixar movie, which I politely disagree with. I think right to we should be up there and gratitude. Toy story. Yeah. Oh, wait. I'm sorry. The number one of all time, I think was toy story. Three. Um was was that one? Yeah, that one will get your Yeah, that's when Andy goes. Where's it going? Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. I've seen that. Yeah, McLaughlin. You know, she jumps in her voice. Just you here. No. And you're just bawling? Yeah. Lex. Did you have to pay for this? The look on Disney, plus a is free. Okay? Yeah, I'm asking you because once again, um, I was I was supposed to watch it last night. But then I went to Ian Marjorie's thing. And then we came home and I'm like I got I got a little too tired. Yeah, but I want to show over the weekend. I think you'll like it. I do, too. I I think I've seen the trailer. I and I love Pixar. And again. You know what? Coco, another Pixar movie recently? Oh, my gosh. How do we forget about that? That is one of my love for all the ones you mentioned, like. Wally is one of my probably my favorite Pixar movie. I like Wally. I'm just going on box office. Yeah. Cocoa. Oh, Coco, So damn good. Talk about guys here jerking. Oh, and gorgeous. Talk about beautiful animation. That's one of the more music I would say that is probably one of the most beautiful Pixar movies, this forest color palette and the animation and the look of it, Cocos stunning in every way, Although.

"And both times disney. Shut them down for like twenty four or forty eight hours and basically just changed the music out rip down all the signage for the sponsorships and then just rest play again and started again funny. Obviously that's not the way that they would've wanted it to happen. But i think that probably plays a big role into why these attraction just didn't last let it makes you wonder if disney was able to just kind of rip the sponsor name off of it. Like what role did the sponsors have. I mean initially just funding. Yeah i was gonna say. Initially i know that the main purpose was like they built a ride. that's why it was basically just. Hey look at all these cool places we can take you to come us airline a partner with disney. But past that they didn't really seem to offer much to the parks. You know they weren't giving you anything that disney couldn't have cheaply done themselves. Yeah and so this space. Now that you get into the mid ninety s was in desperate need of something offering a little bit more tomorrowland. I still think you know. Obviously we don't have firsthand experience for what tomorrowland was like but it seems like it was the land that took the longest to get its feet and magic kingdom and i almost think even now it faces a lot of challenges because alien encounters messed up or i even call it alien counter stitches. Great escape is gone. Monsters inc laugh floor. I don't know you can take it or leave it but obviously besides space mountain. And now you're going to get the addition of tron. Maybe tron will help it but it's still such a weird land. That's almost like a hodgepodge of attraction. And i think that's the way that we've you tomorrow and right now can maybe give us a good glimpse into what disney imagine. Years were thinking in the mid nineties when they decided to make such a bold decision to put in toy story into this land. So you know more about this process if you wanna walk us through him well also was the first pixar ride to ever be announced or the parks and then of course it was in magic kingdom and people felt very strongly about protecting magic kingdom and they definitely did not like the idea of it. You know we're going to bring in pixar and this is not disney There's just one movie out at the time. Which was the original toy story. And they were just very opposed to bringing in intellectual property. That was pixar. It was not very desirable and there was a big. You know upheaval about it At the same time there are also working on the. It's tough to be a bug ride. Which is an animal kingdom. And if you want more details about that we talked about it in episode two hundred twenty but it was kind of the same thing bug's life wasn't released either in peter's so it's tough to be a bug released before the movie. Although their release dates were less apart. It wasn't quite a year before it's tough to be a bug was released But it's just interesting to think that disney felt so confident in pixar and in these movies that they went ahead and gave them entire tractions. Now you could also argue..

"The name of the movie, but I do know what you're talking about is kind of similar to that idea monsters Inc. Oh, you know, what other similar movies of that kind of world? I don't know that one what Thor the dark world now dark dark city or something like that anymore. Back to my kid. So I have inception versus got pilgrim, the the more. I thought about this and looked at it. I just really feel like inception is the by far better. Maybe. As much as I like comic book, movies and think how fun stuff is inception is just so much deeper and better as a movie as a movie. Yeah. I just I think. Yeah. That's the way to go for me. Inception for me. Inception versus sky fall. So we've already turned talked about inception. Why would have picked that just because it's so groundbreaking. But sky fall for me, I've never been that interested in JAMES BOND, JAMES BOND movies, really until Daniel Craig like I really like casino royale. And I thought it was a really interesting fun. Really good take on a darker, JAMES BOND. I like everything about it. But then when it got to sky file fall, I feel like they took that model and then injected like almost an art Tissot style that was super cool. So you never you never got into the whole Pierce Brosnan era. Yeah. I mean, I liked all of them. Oh for sure I'm not saying. I mean who doesn't like those movies as an action. Yeah. Exactly. But I love them. They felt like that action movies by action movies like oh, you can rely on this JAMES BOND movie. It's going to be a good spy action movie. Yeah. For sure sky fall felt different. You know, it felt. Artistic and intriguing and interesting, you know, it was just a really cool movie both of those movies, by the way inception. It's got locked probably only seen once each one originally. I don't think I've gone back and rewatch either one of them. I've never really felt like exceptions definitely when I don't feel. I could keep need to go back and see it again. Because once you kind of get it. I want to I. Yeah. I know the more we've talked about it. It's not that movie in a long ten years. So I don't know how old it is. But. So it's a little tough for me. But really it's not because. I'm gonna go with inception as well. Yeah. It's just a cool movie, man. And like I said, I just I think there's just more to it. I remember so much more to that movie that you can hold onto that you can love that you can try to dig into and try to figure out there's so many parts of this movie that you're trying to figure out compared to a really upfront like a really well done. But a by the numbers kind of JAMES BOND e yes. The one kind of cool thing I remembered about inception. Est. I never saw in theaters we rented it. My whole family is like over thanksgiving or something and my whole entire family went down, and my parents basement, and we watched inception like all generations. Yeah. And I remember shutting that movie off and us just talking for like two hours. Oh, really about like. Just like how I forgot about that memory. But until we started talking about it. So. Email it came out in two thousand ten okay? It's almost ten years ago. Yeah. It's two hours twenty eight minutes. And it's got an eight point eight score on. I am Deeb. What's it gonna rotten tomatoes who I don't know? I'd have to look up rotten tomatoes because it's not on. I'm db. Really good. Just a really good movie. So you have inception as well. That clears up our top. It's eighty six on run tomatoes ninety one on score. That's pretty good. I wonder what sky fall predicted. Yes. So sky fall came out in two thousand twelve I guess I thought that was newer than that. Because there's another one after that. Right. Quantum of solace. Quantum of solace. That's that's ninety two. It's actually rings higher run to me. Well, I'm going with inception. So I got Thor ragnarok and inception. And so do you. Yes. In that bracket. Those are the winners the next bracket.

"Narration. Accurate. Enjoy all. So you're not only coming around the corner to see to to the front of Monsters, inC, laugh floor, you're actually over the famous the now famous purple wall. The Instagram sensation truly used to just be a purple. Well. Yeah. And now they've kind of not move a lot more you like it with. I did not get why the purply watching because it was like it was different. It was something you could see from the hub of something you pass by. I think it was just it was recognizable. It was one of those things that weren't it wasn't insider. It was insider because it wasn't so distinct. Now, I'd say it is distinct with some of the new patterns on it it any case. This isn't a purple wall episode. So the memory is from purple walls that we're right? Yeah. So so Amy had her at at skirt. It was it's the poodle skirt because at this an at instead of poodle, it's an adequate from Star Wars. And so we we were we were taking family pictures. And then we took some time to have the photographer who was stationed there at the purple all the take a few extra pages of Amy and the guy was standing there. He was doing his job perfectly. However with the other side of his brain or the back of his brain. He was. Still the managing to pull off this very entertaining thing, which was to lip sync or even even jazz, like mimic even out loud in real time in perfect time. The narration from the people mover above so he would be sitting there, and he'd be taking with Amy. And and then he would just go imperfect sync with the the narration about this time. It's laughter there after at monsters Inc. And then he would say the whole thing and then would pass again. And he's all right now turn this way. Now, look at me this way, and this time it's laughter. They're monsters Inc. And we're like wet. So he snapping pictures. Any looks at in. He looks at Fiona Liam. And I who are standing off to the side. And then he counted down with his fingers or did. He just countdown verbally. I just his fingers. But I remember he told us a joke in we didn't hear I went. And then I got. It later what we were still talking. He took a long time with this. But he's like, oh, it's okay. Because this time laughter. We're after sink that. It was so funny. Great. Fantastic. The pictures turned out great. It's not like anything. Right. Yeah. So some of the most natural pitchers pictures because we were actually laughing. Having a good time. So yeah, for sure. And so then you head straight down. And now you're heading back to the was it rocket tower plaza you're headed back to now. Yeah. So we get there in don't forget your high five or side five opportunity will that was already coming out of out of space mountain. And so now we pull back to get don't forget it. Now, we're we're headed back in we're making our landing back to where we started and Fiona is there a safety nouncement. Well, it's not the one in the notes, that's. Yeah. You're right. Do you have one though? No, I don't probably says insure you, get your kids in your bags. Probably a little more eloquent than. Get your kids and your started talking. I'm gonna look it up right now. I'm going to continue to talk about what might listless talk a little bit about that rocket tower because because it's it's a triple decker and. Is lunch pad though, found lunch the lunch lunching, Pat lunching, Pat lunch, and there was a very very nice cast member that there one time I was unable to find some apple juice for Liam which is his life blood. That is the only thing only thing he'll drink. And so I was having a hard time finding it. He was getting hotter and hotter, Morty hydrated. I went up, and I said, do you have apple juice? He said, yes, I said, oh, I'm so glad thank you so much and Hughes like, you know, what this on the house, and he gave me an extra bottle. So he was so kind of cheap. What's not on Disney? I found the safety instructions. Mounts spent?

"And then that would be arguing it for like if you like frozen lot because they have the entirety of let it go. They have like half of that. No man song. I don't know because I'm gonna vaunted Allegra. Well, I think actually I think frozen is a good fit for kingdom hearts. And so is tangled because those are frozen more southern kingdom hearts are sorry frozen more so than tangled as much as I don't like it because I think the world in frozen is a little more imaginative and fleshed out compared to care sakes, which kind of just takes place in our world with have the super cool city future. It was like San Francisco mashed up with Tokyo in a future cities. Go to say, maybe Simone tier point that the original kingdom hearts had a lot to do with like princesses and Hart show. There's a lot of like Princess element right of Republican or frozen. So I don't know. I think like it's impossible to tell I guess because we are older. Maybe this, you know, new installment could kind of rope in a bunch of younger kids who wanna get into the franchise. And honestly, I thought about that too of like this story line is so complicated. How can younger kids get involved in it? But at the same time, I looked back at me when I was ten or eleven and I played final fantasy eight the craziest game on the planet. And like, I think like if you are younger than you are just starting out with video games, especially any type of RPG. You just accept it shit. I feel like a lot of us. Now are just like what where did where did he come? Why is this like this? Whereas, you know, if you're younger you just silently nod and go through the whole game. Of course, this is how it all works. There's so many good song parody opportunities. So come on. I haven't do you wanna have Keebler laid. Here. I want. Question is I'm looking at when these movies came out, and like when kingdom hearts three was announced. And like no wonder this game is bad because it's been like a concept since two thousand six and like big hero six came out in two thousand fourteen tangled came out in twenty ten frozen came out in. I don't know when also in the twenty ten like, the this is a bunch of stuff that I mean, probably Disney had those ideas. But the the couldn't have had the final product. They couldn't have known. Yeah. I was going to ask you Allegra have you when you're playing through them like worlds that are, you know, featuring more recent Disney movies, and maybe worlds at are more classic ones or any parts of the game. Do they Visu ever visually feel inconsistent to you like one world might seem very, you know, you mentioned to me some of them. Very like PS two PS three. And then are there some other worlds that are way better? Well, rendered like, do you think you could sort of see I don't know sort of like, the figurative seems of when you know, such and such world was completed, and you know, square Unix or the studio stitching it together. I mean, I definitely think that like as you progress later into the game. It does seem like the world design overall, not just graphically, but in terms of actual level design, it feels more diverse and thoughtful because early on in like definitely like the first half of the levels worlds, feel kind of sparse comparatively and there aren't as many like be tailored or references or anything to of movies. Like, let's say like the monsters Inc. World, right? It's pretty much just a factory which monster kinda takes in the factory. Either is not a time that you can do there -sarily..

"Your. Yes. Exactly. So earlier we talked to cashmere here. She is Cosby Kashmir hill. She's giving she's a Gizmodo writer, and she's giving up all the big tech for a week. And she wrote about it a wrote about giving up Amazon. Right. The most painful part of the week without Amazon for me is that all of my digital entertainment was wiped out. You know, I couldn't watch. I couldn't watch Hulu. I couldn't watch HBO go. I couldn't watch Netflix watch Amazon video obviously. But they all I mean, most video online relies on Amazon, so my poor toddler who loves watching cocoa and monsters Inc. And now Moana she just couldn't watch any of it. There was there was no other way to get it. And she talked about all the places her Ardita goes there Bassett data sharing agreements between Facebook and Amazon. No one knew about these data sharing arrangements till recently. And that's what she also looked into. I mean, there are so many questions right about what is happening to our data. And who's getting what? So there was this revelation that there are all these companies that were continuing to get data from Facebook without users really understanding how much it was going to them. And so what I learned today was that it was super smart and creative story by by. Kashmir. But I learned that that to not by Amazon products. Hardly detach yourself from from Amazon. It's reached depends on its reach extends into virtually everything. You do even if none of it has that trademark all of it eating grin on the side of the box..

"Commentary because it was so rough and the whole video like outlines this stuff, and I think very rightly criticises it. But it also opens this window into Disney makes like we talked about it when we did our Disney trip, and then like sort of addressed it in the following upset. Wonderful like, it's so polished it is so fine tuned. The whole experience is like so meticulously designed from the second. You you drive onto the park and to see something so poorly like that was also sort of delta bad hand by just sort of the twists of fate was really interesting. Also, then it goes into that ride became a monsters Inc. Ride and all of the semi on intimate traffic. Celebrities, they like slapped has MAC suits on them. And so now, they're like, you know, the monster cleanup crew or whatever and they still had guy has met doing like a high flying kick. It's just Jackie Chad where he gets sued like the whole front facade of the building like they just sort of slapped some like monsters Inc. Doors all over there's so much of the DNA of the original Ryan that turned into this like. You know, better better ride. It sounds like kind of the thrill of seeing a really bad movie. Like watching a bad movie with your friends? It's like seeing this like, I don't know this urgency put behind something that is just never going to be good. Yeah. It's interesting in that regard. I also think it's interesting, especially the Disney ones because you I don't think you'd get to the point where disease that now where you know, pretty much all the things they make are right on point like they are all leading towards you having this perfect experience. While.

Disney Play: Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming streaming service

"It's going to be interesting to see how Disney how Disney makes their play with this because and that was not a pun, but Disney play is it could be a Netflix killer. It could be a, they have enough horsepower enough IP in enough money to throw behind this that they have a legitimate chance. I'm gonna say it becoming the number two streaming service. So right now, technically a my, I might be mistaken, but isn't the only thing really confirmed for the streaming services clone horse. So they got clone wars. They have Jon Favreau live action, Star Wars series. They've got a Dumbo. I'm trying to remember the monsters Inc thing. They put in a bunch of the so I was wrong. Yeah, they're put a bunch of the marvel stuff in there, but the but the original stuff. I think they have a Toy Story one in the works as well after like it's the continuation. Yes. Yes, yes. After Andy, so there's going to be new. I on high school musical, and there will be a quote, brand new, all new marvel series. Okay. So I dunno means both all that information. If let's say hypothetically, they cost exactly the same. Do you go DC or do you go Disney? I go Disney with a free trial of DC so I can watch all with a free enough trial to watch young Justice and maybe sometimes, yes, yes. So, yeah, I'm excited for young Justice than probably any Disney show ever. So my money's gonna go to DC.
