"Stannis Sonia says let's get after it in the first pitch fastball is hit in the air to left field verdugo is going to turn and this one is gone. Alvarez goes to the opposite field up into the monster seats and the Astros have taken a one to nothing lead. Dan schulman with that call on ESPN radio. So remember that you're on Alvarez, a home run in his first plate appearance. Meanwhile, framber Valdez was dominating the Red Sox. Two strike count on Bogart's Valdez has the sign. The left hander kicks and deals and a swing and a ground ball. That one hit a little bit better, but write it Altuve the second baseman and the Red Sox going order again. So it is 12 up and 12 down for framber Valdez one to nothing.
What Happened When Eric 'Came Out' as a Trump Supporter
"Because when I wrote the bonhoeffer book, so many people came to love me who then once I came out of the closet as believing Trump was better than Hillary Clinton as a candidate is pretty crazy stuff. When I came out on that, these people thought, I get emails now a little bit less often, but I was getting emails like almost every day. Have you lost your mind? Didn't you read your own bonhoff for book? Don't you see, you know, effectively that Hitler, I mean, that's a Trump is Hitler two. Don't you get it? He's an authoritarian monster. You know, and I realized that it's almost funny because it's precisely the opposite. It's the left that has taken on the mantle of Hitler. Has anybody referred to Hitler as having a mantle before? The biblical, it's an anti mantle sure. But the point is the point is that the parallels are stark. But even a number of years ago, even I don't know, 7 years ago, 8 years ago, people would say, how did this happen in Nazi Germany? How did that happen? And I said, it happened exactly like it's happening here now. That's how it happened. So the idea that I mean, of course, if you have a racist view of Germans, it's very easy to say how it happened. The Germans are uniquely evil. But if you believe that you're as bad as the Germans who hated the Jews as being uniquely evil, we all know, as Dennis just said that it's not a racial issue. It's a human issue. And we don't know why God allows it to go as it does through history. You know, if I were God, I don't think I would have let the Holocaust happen, but I'm not

"The wall at Fenway Park game 6 in the 1975 World Series. So many twists and turns in a tailor that in extra innings when Pete Rose stepped into the box. He looked back at Carlton fisk in a pair of phrasing here and said, a lot of this games, this game's amazing, huh? Funny to hear players like that have some perspective in game. I feel like it's hard to really soak that moment in, so very cool story. And that's where the waving of the arms comes around. I'm learning baseball history here buster. When you're waving your home runs, Carlton fisk, got it, noted. Yeah. And Harry Coyle was the producer for NBC in that game and they put that camera into the green monster before that game and he changed the way television shots are done. The reaction shots really, I think stem from that incredible job decision by Harry Coyle to get Carl and fist waving that home run is an amazing job there to I was 11 years old in that game is played. We didn't have a television to our House. They went up to a neighbors and watched it on television. I remember being so excited about that game being fired up and then having to walk home in the dark a mile and a half of dirt road in the fall had ichabod crane all over my mind, Taylor. Don't like that. All right, major change is coming in Major League Baseball with the electronic strike zone, curbing the use of relievers are going to be talking about that with Sarah Langston will also be talking about the two playoff series that are ongoing. At Fenway Park last night, the Astros, the Red Sox, the two teams tied to all, and wow. Chris sale was great early in this game, but the Astros took control..
Unlike the Daily Wire's Luke Rosiak, the Media Didn't Bother to Hear Scott Smith
"Pretty simple question I mean it's so few people unlike yourself doing actual journalism anymore I mean I can think of a few you got you Were you at the daily caller you were 'cause I know I've read your work before I mean it's I mean you have chuck Ross over there does good work Cherry dunleavy at the examiner These are people who do actual investigative reporting which is you know died a long time Lee Smith How did you crack this story I mean did you just do what no one else would do which is just interview the parent and say hey why were you so angry at the meeting I mean I'm believe me I'm not in any way trying to take down the work you did but were you the only guy who thought to go out there and just ask the parent hey hey Scott why were you so angry I think that's right A lot of people made assumptions about this guy There were the reason this happened and it is a massive media failure as well as school failure is because people have caricatures of people with different political deals especially on the left They view people on the right as instead of being human beings who have reasons for believing the things they do there is a common perception that they're monsters They're bigots They're not fees And the reason they do things is simple they're filled with hate and they hate people and they want to harm people And so when they saw the sky a lot of people just said you know he's a liar He has hate for gays That's why he's here He's angry because he's a white man Let's put him in jail And he was trying to tell You can hear on the video that has been replayed by TV channels across the globe for three months on that video while he's getting arrested His wife screams my daughter was raped at school and this is what happens So he was trying to tell people why he was angry No one listened They want him to make they wanted to make him a partisan cartoon And so I did ask him and I did document the things he was saying trust but verify And sure enough his story checked

You wanna move ahead but man what a what a performance it was fun it a good one. Let's let's go back in and that was a huge game. Everyone knew how important it was for the cats to beat missouri Take us through the week of preparation. We head coach on thursday night. And it i'd say you guys were ready to play that that would be the understatement of the year sir so throughout the we just knew that we had abba chip on our shoulders because last year you know we felt we were prepared but our energy just wasn't there so we felt like we all wanna coaches told us like. Are you going to let them out play you. Are you going to let them out. How do you transfer that bad feeling into you does it. Does it affect the way you practice. Prepare because you're you're supposed to be dealing with the techniques of it. I mean motion is part of football. But i'm really curious how that affects you as a player so one We had a video from last year where they showed beauvoir sidelines. I think kelvin. Dodgers Trevor Bauer Has Leave Extended to End of Season
"Dodgers pitcher trevor. Bauer will miss the rest of the year. No shock there right and he will not be eligible in the postseason which is really interesting. The has agreed to extend the admin leave for the rest of the year. So he's not coming back. He somebody wrote in a kitten. Remember who wrote this. But the trevor. Bauer will never pitch inning. Who Was Serial Killer Todd Kohlhepp?
"This week. We're going to talk about todd. Cole hep which i know you said you were not familiar with correct This he is a infamous case Murdered several people. He actually got caught because kind of similar to discuss. Couple of weeks at one of his victims ended up being rescued. And then it was a whole can of worms that was open and he got caught. So todd call hep. He grew up in south carolina in a very very dysfunctional home. I mean broken family. He was abused by his father. He was abused by his grandfather. As a child he was constantly moving from one place to another which created instability in his life. And it was kind of this storm of poor factors in his life that created this soup to create a monster essentially by like okay if you come from a broken family. That doesn't mean you're this crazy murderer if you move around constantly that that's not gonna make you a psychopath right it. But being abused by the male figures in his life adding with all of these things coming from dysfunctional household. They all added up to make this to make him into what he is. So you can look at it as we always look at the nature versus nurture right. This is a little bit more of a nurture situation. Because he was just hitting left and right with these bad circumstances he was not he was not taking care of the way he needed to be taken care of and created this everything that he was late. I mean to me. That's like the greatest debate and forever like in the world. I i really think so.
Millions Miss President Trump and His Leadership
"Sure Millions of us Miss President Trump very, very much and his policies. And, uh, when you listen to what he says, and you'll notice, I conduct my interviews. I want my guests to speak, particularly a former president, United States. And, um How sensible he is. How rationally is and how, of course, the media try and create A monster out of the man. But when you listen to how he thinks Through what he says. Whether it's Afghanistan, the border, the Middle East, the election and so forth, and so on. Makes an enormous amount of sense, even at the end when he's talking about generals Very few of the guts to mention Robert E. Lee. He's not supporting Robert E. Lee. He's not supporting the Confederacy. The mental midgets around America. This is what they want you to think they'll twist What? Look, They do it with me. And I'm on here three hours a day, five days a week, explaining myself over and over and over again, but they want to twist what you said, because they don't want to argue against what you believe. And who you are. They want to create strawman and foils. To create hysteria. Because their arguments are losing arguments. They're not appealing to the American people unless you can turn somebody into a boogeyman. Which is what they try to do to President Trump. And so you hear them talking about Robert E. Lee that many people think he was a great general. Many people think he was a great general that the Confederacy would have lost a lot faster. Among those was Abraham Lincoln, who thought Robert E. Lee was a great general. Ulysses asked Grant, who thought Robert E. Lee was a great general. He was running circles around the union generals until Ulysse says Grant finally showed up. Which is President Trump's point. Lincoln had to fired general after general till he found Grant and he was advised not to take Grant. But he took him anyway. He took

The author of the game of thrones fantasy series from hbo and from software which is the studio that makes popular role playing games like dark souls and secure. Oh shadows die twice. Wrote a story about this. And everything i saw and you can read that on tech dot. Usa today dot com. So in the game you play as a tarnished and you're roaming the lands between and in this you're battling all forms of enemies they have these giant dragon's giant ogres. And you're doing this on a quest to become the elderly lord some outlets that i wrote about this as well described elderly ringing across between dark souls and the legend of zelda breath of the wild just because you know players can just freely explore the map and go as far as they want and just kind of really roam around You'll collect map fragments to get a better view of the world and you can also place markers so if you want to highlight Where treasurer is or if you know. There's a really difficult monster that you have to conquer but you're not ready yet. You can mark all those you also have what's called a spirit steed which is kind of like this ghostly horse that you can mount and that helps you move to the map. Lot faster The other thing that game has is what from software describes as legacy dungeons which are basically similar to what you might find in dark souls game. So you'll come across during the demo. I saw they had this giant castle and had lots of detail it had all these different pass through the dungeon and of course there's lots of challenging monsters and other enemies so it's it feels like it's just a lot of different layers and a lot of small details that players will be able to find as they make their way through the game.

What Lurks Beneath: The Legend of the Loch Ness Monster
"The modern day fascination with old nasty started in nineteen thirty three when aldy mckay and her husband were driving along loch ness and we all know that lock is scottish for lake right so they were driving along the loc when less than a mile out in the water. Algae mckay reported seeing a tremendous upheaval on the lock which previously had been a calm as a proverbial mill pond. That was my scottish accent. Mckay said she saw what she thought looked like the body of some huge creature resembling awale rolling and diving churning the water into a bubbling foam. The creature was large enough that when it took its final dive under the water sent out huge waves. Mckay and her husband stayed on the road for half an hour waiting to see if they would spot whatever it was again. But in that time it never resurfaced the only paper that ran a story about the mckay. Strange encounter was the inverness. Corier other than that. No one seemed very interested less than three months later married. Couple mr and mrs spicer. We're driving south along loch mess. When they claim to see a huge prehistoric creature. Cross the road in front of them headed toward the lake according to an interview. The spicer's gave to rupert gould. Who wrote the first book about the loch ness monster. The creature had a long neck and a low thick body about four or five feet high. Mr spicer said he couldn't see legs or tail but he did see something flopping up and down which he later thought was a tail curled around toward the front of the animal. The couple said they couldn't tell if they're creature entered the water because their view was obstructed. And they couldn't hear anything over the sound of their engine. The author gould however claimed to have been watching the lake the same day. The spicer's say they witnessed this thing cross the road and he confirmed that the water was particularly choppy and noisy at roughly location. The spicer's claim they saw the animal. Gould went into the interview skeptical but based on their description and a drawing. Mr spicer made he came out. Short that the spicer's were telling the truth and had in fact seen the loch ness monster.

Yes a huey copter. Maybe they were still the general public. Didn't really know what they were yet like. Everybody now does. I don't know. I don't know why. Call it a illegal. I mean there's a scene in casablanca where humphrey bogart mispronounces bourbon and a teetotaller. But apparently bourbon was not a well known drink at that time. So he calls it or something. Lloyd been bourbon steve. Tomo and steve's pipe talked to a guy who saw the monitoring and steve makes a slightly racist comment. I i also feel. You're talking about the soccer income. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah i felt simply says the guy must have had too much sake. Not just alcohol had to be sadder just seemed like slightly racist thing to say and we haven't been rate rating. These movies like we said we were going to on the racism factor right. But i'm going to give that half a point on this one half the star. Yeah and our previous Previous two movies ago. A beast from twenty thousand fathoms. It gets one because it's just exists in world where there's no non white people And godzilla i mean. Japanese society is pretty homogeneous at that time. Probably and still is i think yes or non japanese people in that movie so maybe we want to give it a one for that. I don't know. I'm not gonna judge foreign film as harshly as a film Judge my own group. Of course yeah definitely. I don't know this film i. It's hard for me to. i'm just. I was confused with this film. I guess this is. I my first experience. Where like this is the thing. I've never seen anything like this before. But i was just like i. It felt like are we stupid like we couldn't read the subtitles though. It was just weird. It isn't unusual way too well. The subtitles would emphasize that. It's a foreign film. I guess people don't like to read subtitles. that's and maybe that's their perception of why foreign films aren't popular because subtitles. So yeah just cut it out. Yeah it's it's a weird way to to go about it. So then we see the scene with the dancing and the ritual. almo- explains the legend and the girl sacrifice while we watched the dance. And i wrote down. What is the name of the monster godzilla. I'm not at all clear why they felt the need. In the first place to change the name from gojra to godzilla. I guess got godzilla has lizard sound to it. I don't know. I don't know who's idea that was. I don't feel it's necessary. Yeah so then. It's the nighttime and the storm with godzilla attack and stephen tomar just camping out in ten..

And steve was just stopping over in wasn't even supposed to be here today. He was on his way to cairo and just stop for a social call to his friend. She was our and we see him in the triage center and emiko has a thing but the dead mother steve is carrying in. I think he mentions the odor of scorched flesh. And then we get. The first. Few scenes wear raymond. Burr talks to a body double one the original so we just see the back of immigration aggregate as shot over her shoulder at steve as he pretends to talk to her and then a reverse shot of the actress. We get a flashback to him on the airplane in talking about dr siragusa is his old college friend. And then we get the ship attack that opens the original the original movie. Yeah yes and then. I thought to when they're when there is actual Spoken japanese happening. There's no subtitles. yeah. I noticed that also that was a little odd ends on. There's a few times when it goes on for a few translation and they earns to this guy and says what are they saying and he tells us. Then there's other places where it's dubbed and here we get the opposite of what we usually get. Usually there are people who should be speaking good english who are not like in king kong people speaking broken english here. We have all of these japanese people who live in japan and yet the flawless english with no accent and i and i don't just mean the the dubbed people but this guy he's about to meet at the airport right is obviously japanese american native english speaker. There were a few times also that wear it was dubbed and it felt like the personal was trying a little hard to have an accent okay. I don't think notice those james wrong so sure. But i have written down. I'll let you know what happened. After the ship is attacked. There's stock playing footage. And steve comes the airport and shigeo itoh assistant to dr sarah iowa meets him and but then he is asked to come to the security office for questioning. There we meet tomo. "If you saw fate you would know him so all the new footage was done in three days and olive raymond burr stuff done in one of those three days removed any overt references to the bomb bomb tests radioactive tuna or anything like that. It says here. The budget was one hundred and twenty five thousand and the box office was two million lao. This was released in nineteen fifty-six A few years after the original black and white eighty minutes. Cut down from ninety six minutes directed by terry o morse and of course ishiro honda directing the original material. And then they they would do this again. Thirty years later in nineteen eighty-four toho rebooted the godzilla franchise. They did this thing where they make a sequel. That ignores all the previous sequels so it was. It was a sequel. It was called. I think both night godzilla nineteen eighty-four and godzilla returns it was meant to be a sequel to the original movie but ignoring all the previous sequels. Similar things have happened recently. With like halloween. Yeah yeah terminator. So america decided to do the same thing and release godzilla. One thousand nine hundred eighty five with new footage starring raymond burr again inserted into the film. Raymond burr who by this time didn't have to take this job but maybe maybe he had some warm feelings about the project. yeah. I'm sure maybe thought well better me than somebody else did that crap so they did a little Obviously a little editing. 'cause they put things in took things out but they did some rearranging to the movie starts off a little differently We don't have any music. Or i think we have a little bit of roar and some glowing water yes And then Raymond burr whose characters name is dean martin. Yes of course. The comedians demartin was not known at the time. So of course just a coincidence. Yeah this report dot. Ll elden crazy guy. He is just the hct normal guy. It makes way more sense that this happened in like a few hours or like a day. Because i really i didn't like it. I didn't i mean somebody must have because this was what we got for fifty years until the. Yeah i mean totally. I'm i'm glad i said the other one. I i guess if he didn't have anything else to compare it to write of course but this was the version that most of the world saw outside of japan for fifty years. That's crazy. i'm for anyone who you know. This was their first godzilla experience in your in love with it. I'm sorry man. So we start with steve martin saying this is tokyo and we city is already in rubble. Steve is lying in the rubble covered up with a something. What's the word i'm looking for. Building.

"Whatever his motive the zodiac was clearly done operating in the shadows. He was now ready to take his crimes to a larger venue somewhere. He could really grab the attention of the police in the public just two weeks after the lake various attack in early October of nineteen sixty nine the zodiac would bring his own brand of terror into the heart of San Francisco. Next time on monster zodiac killer. This is a kid used kid news downstairs. You know, look outside the window and saw your cabin sauce on sloughed to over in the car from the fine. Coporate of the zodiac San Francisco is directly linked to the soda killer. There's no escaping it. And what he wanted in July of nineteen sixty nine was for as many people to see this as possible to get as much attention as possible and to cement, his image as a real threat, I've covered a lot of killers a lot higher body counts. A lot more sick twisted ways, killing this guy was the the chronicle received a letter and only the chronicle from the zodiac as the woman opened in the editorial department of peace of bloody shirt fell out with the letter. "Aspects of that he actually got them to participate in their own attack by convincing them. This is the best thing for you to do when he knew all along what he was going to do to them. This was not something that he just did on the spur of the moment must. They were tied up. He tied them up for that specific purpose? So they could not fight back. You believe somebody when they tell you. I just wanna take your money. So you say, okay. All right. You can tiny up. And then once that's done. You have no choice. It's over. Brian was very lucky that he survived. But I think like a lot of other people. He also still struggles with some guilt because he was the person who survived he decided to play dead, and that appears to have made the big difference. And why he still here today? Cecilia did what many of us would have done which is fight for her life? And apparently she paid the price for that. And as it turns out Zuhdi was selective. When choosing his victims on that day at the lake. It was probably easier to escape that area during the day than it would have been at night. There's if you've ever been to lake various, so there's lots of winding roads, and it was even more so back in nineteen sixty nine when those roads were paved, and they were a little dirt trails and things like that. He may have been familiar with that area select that spot specifically, but there's no guarantee there would be somebody there. So that might also explain why somewhat MRs saw a man walking around the area just randomly looking at people staring at them because he may have been considering killing those people as well there were three young girls who I believe were sunbathing and Mary lake who said a man was staring. If that was the zodiac you have to stop to think about what was going on was he looking at those people because he was trying to make sure they wouldn't pay any attention if he attack someone else or was he considering attacking those three girls, and what's even more terrifying. As there was a man and his young son who said that they saw similar of jewel was that guy stocking them, and considering attacking of father and son. And why did he did he become concerned that someone might see him? Or did he notice that they had guns because they were apparently there's some people in the area who were hunting target shooting. So me he may have said I don't wanna risk somebody who's armed. Maybe he decided not to he didn't want to kill a little boy. I don't know. But it does indicate that he was entertaining. A lot of different possibilities that day. And that's a drastic departure from what done before. Was the zodiac killing strictly for attention. He did seem proud of his kills bragging about them in a very public way. But why such a dramatic turn of events at lake Baria? The killer changed his method of operation from shooting to knife attack. Dr Eric Hickey criminal psychologist at Walden university. And consultant for the US department of defense thinks it was all about progression going from the somewhat detached method of killing with a gun to the more up close and personal method of ending a life with a blade. I don't think that these zodiac care whether he was caught or not. But I think he liked the game. And I think when he went shooting to stabbing shooting was too easy. It was too quick. But stabbing much more sadistic. I think he probably some delight and doing that you'll see SIMI's guys. We don't know. But some we don't we don't know exactly what to do. Victims. We only heard some things because he did on the woods assure. He made them suffer a great deal. But we don't know if it was progression with him or not. It's one thing to just walk up and stab people. But if you think about somebody like Ted Bundy he could have just as easily walked up and hit a woman over the head with a crowbar and through in the trunk driven off. But there was some part of him that needed to lure them and fool them into a false sense of security. So that then he could turn around and spring it on them as a surprise he needed to surprise women and he needed. This fooling them aspect for him to feel powerful while there may have been with zodiac some element where he wasn't satisfied anymore shooting people..

"He approached the victims of gun point. And he said that he was an escaped convict from prison either in Montana or Colorado were not sure what he actually said. But that he needed their car, keys and money to escape to Mexico. Brian Cecilia thought they were just being robbed. And although Brian at one point said that he thought he could have gotten the gun away. Man. He was worried that something might happen that the man I shoot them or something. So he thought would just cooperate and get through. This will be over the zodiac said he needed a tie them up, and he provided some pre cut links plastic clothesline courting, and he had Cecilia type, Brian, and then he tied her and once they were laying on the ground. I guess Bryan Hartnell said to the man is that gun really loaded and the man opened the gun and showed a. Mr. bullets there. And then out of nowhere. The man started stabbing. Bryan Hartnell in the back with a foot long knife. Apparently he stabbed Reinhard only six times and Bryan Hartnell decided that it was best pretending dead. So he just stopped and that apparently satisfied the killer, which is another indication of what his motives were soon as Brian stop moving. He moved on Cecilia now. Unfortunately as Brian described me. Cecelia had to watch. Brian be stabbed. And because of that she was even more frightened when the man turned on her unlike Brian she bought back, and because of that she was stabbed many more times she was stabbed a ten times in the front and in the back. Then the killer appeared to be satiated. You stood up walked away. He walked up to hill to a Brian hills. White kharman Ghia was parked. He took out a marker, and he left a message on the car door. "Psychology. Professor, Eric Hickey. My name is Dr Eric Keke criminals. I Qala just sometimes to criminals just a psychologist. Professor Hickey literally wrote the book on serial killers. It's a textbook called serial murderers in their victims one day. I kinda phone call from the media. And there was a case of a mass murderer when they searched his car the found a couple of books in the backseat as car and one books was my book on so murder. They said doctor, how do you feel about the facts Cyril? Mass murderer Ed your book in his car with feel badly. I wrote a book about serial murders. No. And I said, well, why would I be upset about that? The point is this is for public education to make us more aware of types of people. Professor Hickey says two thirds of serial killers are sexual predators in many have unusual desires like sadism Hickey says that even though the zodiac didn't sexually assault his victims. The killings could have been sexually motivated so sadism is able it called paraphernalia Pamphili meaning that the sexual harassment and gratification through bizarre, imagery, fantasies and behavior. There's hundreds and hundreds of pair failure. And probably sixty percent are not criminal and people wanna have sex doorknobs. That's her business. It's not a crime a person could have a foot fetish. That's not a crime. It is a crime. However, if they break into people's homes and peel after blanket whether asleep and second their toes, that's a crime. So there's a whole variety of Colonel paraphernalia that are not physically harmful, but they are still criminal like for your wisdom exhibition ISM some to feel you we like to watch people asleep, those are criminal, but nobody gets hurt but people who are driven to kill -serily. Those not the kind of let's looking for if you're a serial killer in your sadistic, you're not into consent. You want to be able to do what you wanna do as though Diak no problem killing people and making them suffer as he did it he thinks zodiacs sadism likely extended beyond the killings to the letters the puzzles way Tana police, there was an element of sadism there. He liked creating fear in the public's eye. I'm sure that he liked reading about himself in newspapers that would have been quite gratifying to him. He become Konica, Jack, the ripper. Jack, the ripper also sent letters to newspapers when he terrorized London in the late eighteen hundreds one read the next job. I do I shall clip the ladies years off and send to the police officers. Just for jolly many thought it was a hoax until three days later. A woman was found dead her ear lobe severed. I think that that was some of the the soda yak and was trying to attain was that sort of notoriety. He held the city of San Francisco in fear. It was all his doing and that would make him feel very powerful and gave him great pleasure in doing. So there was that sort of systemic approach nudges to his victims. But also to the general public. So the zodiac is likely a sadist a term named after the marquee, sawed, a French philosopher and novelist sawed wrote in his book. Juliet, it is an article of faith on the island of Borneo that all those persons. A man kills will be his slaves in the next world. And as a result, the better a man wishes to be served after his death, the more he kills during life, which brings us to the end of the cipher. When I die. I'll be reborn in paradise. And all that I have killed will become my slaves. I will not give you my name because he will try to slow down or stop my collection of slaves for my afterlife. Had the zodiac read that passage from the market Assad or heard about these beliefs somewhere else. Either way this fantasy of sleeves in the afterlife speaks to the zodiacs intense desire for power and control. The suit he acts murders and phone. Call were cold hearted. His letters were twisted. But the Dakotas decipher revealed just how truly deranged zodiac was as San Francisco would soon find out what they'd seen? So far was just the beginning. The zodiac was ramping up. Professor Hickey told us serial killers often intensify their crimes over time..

"Twentieth. Nineteen sixty eight or senseless and tragic, but at this point for the people of Benicia, California and the surrounding area. There was no further cause for alarm as callous as it sounds. This was just an unsolved crime in a small town until that is the following summer when the zodiac killer struck again, the next crime occurred at blue rock springs park, which is approximately two and a half miles away from lake Herman road. I think the Layla was a popular city is also part of a port of entry. So there was a lot of sailors. Let's of influx of people coming in. But it was still a bustling community with lots of good people in it. On the night of July fourth nineteen sixty nine Darlene. Farren the twenty two year old mother and waitress picked up a friend of hers named Michael majo-. They were friends they had met at the diner where she worked and they decided to go to blue rock springs park, which is located across the street from a large golf course. But it is sort of outside isolated in some ways. But it was also another lovers lane area. The Leo California is the next town over just northwest of Benicia where the first murders took place to put this into perspective the location where Dorling Ferron and Michael, Missouri. Attacked in blue rock springs park in Vallejo is only a seven minute car ride away from the lake Herman road site. And it's a fairly straight shot. There's literally one turn to similar shootings. Two lovers lanes just miles apart. Things were starting to add up, but in July nineteen sixty nine. No one had the full picture yet..

"It's easier for someone like me who doesn't have a suspect or a theory when I'm asked to question it's easier for me to say, I don't know because that's the truth. And that's the most honest answer someone can give you, but a lot of people aren't satisfied by the truth, and they're not satisfied by a mystery people crave answers. And if someone's telling you, I have all the answers that can be very attractive very compelling for a lot of people. And I think like a lot of things in society. Someone would rather be satisfied with the wrong answer, then be satisfied with no answer at all. The name zodiac is very much like the boogeyman, especially it's the American version of Jack the ripper in many ways, we don't know who the zodiac was he's a mystery that name for me it still scares me. A lot to be honest with you. It's terrifying. What he did? And what he got away with the fact that he got away with it at all as terrifying. So when I hear that name, the first thing that pops into my mind is he still out there? We don't know who is we don't really know anything more than what we did almost fifty years ago about him. He could be anyone he could be that guy that looks across the street from you and comes at pica's newspaper up in the morning or someone in your family, the name zodiac, it's come to stand for many different things in the popular culture about true crime. You know, he's either master criminal or some kind of drilling maniac or whatever. But for me, I've always viewed him more as a person. That makes them much more. Terrifying. To me. At this point. I had heard and read so much about the lovers lane on lake Herman road. But I'd never seen it with my own eyes. I wanted to know exactly what David Faraday and Betty Lou Johnson saw when they encountered the zodiac that night. So the team and I- including our executive producer Jason Hoke flew out to the bay area in the lake urban road site was first destination we headed east from Vallejo on lake Herman road for a little over three miles. One of the first things you see is a huge rock quarry on the left and the relatively small Kermit on the right, but other than that it's just rolling hills and very few signs of civilization. The site itself is located about a mile across the current Benicia California line what referring to as a lover's lane is actually just a small turn off to a private road. That road leads down the hill to Benicia police department shooting range, there's a large metal gate blocking the road. And it's. Cured by numerous single key locks. It's strange. This is it this turn off. There's there's nothing here. If you'll unlikely right? She's very unlikely this is in the middle kind of country road with a little pole off. If you're standing here at the entrance where the gate is. And you look out there's no human beings. I think this is the kind of place that zodiac killer knows kids come and make out in a car knows. They're going to be vulnerable. Just pitch black. It's like easy prey for him. Just be on the fencing. There's an old sign that says no trespassing in new dumping in on the front of this sign someone at some point spree. Painted a large black zodiac symbol. Brushing your teeth is probably the least risky thing you can do. Or is it part of that depends on.

"The police investigated the idea that darling Farren had been killed by someone. She knew that's a traditional standard investigative avenue. Darlene Farren was very popular person as a waitress in a local diner there. She had many fans, and of course, many male admirers, and I think that like many people her age she liked having fun that drinking or doing other things. But she definitely liked having a good time. And that included having fun with her friends. Michael majo- was one of the people. She counted among her friends, Michael and his twin brother had met, Darlene at the diner where she worked and like many other male customers there they developed a friendship with her that sometimes extended beyond her work hours. There are a lot of stories about Darlene. Dating other men and doing other things like that. And so it's easy to believe that she was dating a lot of different men and one. Them could have been the zodiac the police investigated multiple leads and early on. There were two men who stood out as possible suspects, George and Gordon. According to the Vallejo police departments reports Arlene had some problems with the guy named George. The report details how George Darlene the restaurant where she worked and with sometimes give a rights home. But friends of Darlene said, she was quote deathly afraid of him, but was friendly towards him in an effort to keep him at a distance on one occasion, he walked into her apartment and told her that he was either going to rape her or get into bed with her in one way or another unquote officers spoke with the tour, and he denies ever threatening, Darlene. But. Gordon said no because Darlene had a baby couldn't provide for after. He moved Gordon said Darlene wrote to telling him she might be pregnant, but then he didn't hear from her alive. In the case report it reads, he received one more letter from her and it said she had been in the hospital for a short time. But did not state the reason. Gordon thought that possibly she had been pregnant and went and got an abortion somewhere. Gordon stated at this time that he decided not to have anything to do with Darlene and not to see her again, Gordon was also ruled out..

He's a historian and lecturer at San Francisco state university. They're told not to come by city officials, which is the best way to get people to. And they do.
