"We lead local live from the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. I'm Debra Martin. Show. John kobylt and Ken chiampou KFI AM six. Forty welcome. Everybody coming up in the second half of the hour. We'll be talking to Molly crane Newman of the new York Daily News. The jury has the case of El Chapo. The longtime alleged cartel leader alleged the jurors are in their second day. We don't know if he ran a cartel. He has not been convicted. Oh, so we could have been somebody else. Walk. Wedge. It says here in one of her reports, and we'll talk to Molly about it. They seem to be stuck on a charge related to methamphetamine, I guess because I think there's eleven or more felony. We're not sure if he dealt in that. Think we got some cantaloupes on the jury there. I guess while maybe they're convicting them of certain drugs. Maybe others have them a little bit. Really? I don't know. It's convict down everything. Because there's probably five hundred other charges. They could've brought and they didn't seven women and five men people are so literal with this stuff. If I was in the jury room. I it's like I'm convicting on everything here because there's a ton of stuff he did. And he was never caught for. People ten count indictment alleging he track traffic did more than one hundred and fifty tons of illegal drugs into the US. I think somewhere in those one hundred fifty tonnes there probably was some math. Guess it looks like you're being very careful and deliberate going through each count. We'll talk to a bad sign Malhi. Imagine having to sit through a debate of people. Not sure if El Chapo is a drug cartel leader. Yeah. I don't know if he was a kingpin. You're a radio talk show kingpin. Did you know that my kingpin? I think you might be the top one hundred kingpins of two thousand eighteen. Yeah. That's great. Here's an update on the DMV. The department of motor vehicles. I saw this headline. It turned out to be the opposite of what I thought it was. But it's still worth doing the story. Secretary of state Alex Padilla says that his election officials will investigate whether DMV voter registration errors change the outcome of any races last year. Gee, let's say you you'll add illegal aliens to get driver's licenses and at the same time registering for a driver's license met that you also registered to vote. What could go wrong there? I am. Sure. No legal immigrants were accidentally registered to vote. Right. Yes. But the story is the opposite of what you just said it is five hundred eighty nine people that said they registered with motor-voter. And when they went to vote they're not on the rolls. They made one hundred and five thousand mistakes, I know this is five hundred eighty nine people apparently staff members of DMV did not transmit correctly voter registration files for the five hundred eighty nine people. And this could have changed the outcome of race choosing to investigate that what they're not good investigate is all the legal immigrants who did register to vote. And I bet you votes were later harvested by Democrats with that door to door. Campaign. They did didn't the Democrats sweep the state anyway, what is five hundred eighty nine? Little vote's going to do to change anyhow. All the races. Because what they wanna do is have a cover story that distracts the media from the illegal aliens that voted. I see because the the idiots in journalism will only report what someone like Alex Padilla says they won't go looking for the real story. They'll always publish the cover story. And the cover story is designed designed to distract you from the real story. The real story is if you have one hundred and five thousand errors there had to be illegal aliens who were registered to vote. I know. Did you that original bachelor one hundred and five thousand Ariza identified one? I remember here they said at least one non-citizen was added to the voters at least one which is a great cover phrase. Right. Because it could be ten thousand with that phrase. It could ball it's ten thousand. It's not one we set at least one we didn't say it wasn't ten thousand. I saw this story said, oh, yeah. No wonder all those races turned right weeks after the results came into suddenly a bunch of congress people were losing the races in Orange County and San Diego County on Mike. What here's here's my theory. Okay. They pass illegal aliens get to register to vote, right? And do they they pass legal aliens, get a driver's license? And they've pass you could register to vote at the same time. Right. So the obviously there's overlap the illegal aliens accidentally registered to vote now you have a database because remember illegal aliens are putting a separate category. Right. They have a different looking license. So now, you have the names and addresses of these people who were accidentally registered to vote. Now, the Democrats passed a new law which said, hey, you can harvest boats. You can go to somebody's house knock on the door and say, hey, did you feel in your ballot yet? No, hey, let me help you. And I'll take it over to the precinct. So now, they have a list of illegal aliens who legally convoked who who got a valid in the mail. They knock on the door. They fill out the ballot for them. And then they deliver it on election night, only if they signed up his by mail voter you have to do that. I don't get one in the mail because I'm not a bias vote by mail day could bring the the ballot with them. They follow the rules. All these rules are made to be manipulated as long as they're on the list legal voter. It's like oh did you vote yet? You don't have a ballot. Look at that. I happen to have one with me. These guys are criminals. I assume they do criminal acts all day the deadline to register for last. November's election was October twenty seconds and the records in question either came in before that deadline or included documents signed and dated before that date, and of course, December fourteenth in a letter to Padilla good old, gene, she'll modo who since gone from DMV said the registration records weren't submitted to misunderstanding on the part. Of the department, and we'd take responsibility for it. Do you think it's a coincidence that this is the year that the legislature went sixty one twenty? Yeah. It's like three-quarters. Yeah. This is a coincidence that it's the first year that'll illegal immigrants were first election year since illegal immigrants got the right to have a driver's license, and they merged the voting registration with the driver's license. This is all not a coincidence. This is part of the master plan. This is what they intended to do today. And then they add vote harvesting to it. I would do this. If I thought of it. I'd do this. I'd say guys, here's a great idea. We pass we pass the legal alien. Licensing we passed voter registration. We pass vote harvesting. To get more of our people and the El Segundo times and the Sacramento bee. Which have these articles you think they're going to investigate illegal alien voting record do that. Because these guys want these guys want illegal voting to go. There are places like champ Francisco school board races were legally are allowed to vote. Right. Exactly. There's probably yes. Right. A sentiment that they live here. They should be able to vote and all the way that all these leftist editors at these newspapers agreed with that. They did they didn't object to it. No exact. So if I was them this is what I would do. And then to cover the story. I'd say, yeah, we might have found one illegal immigrant voting and maybe one, but the real issue was Americans who were deprived of their right to vote. That's the real investigation. We're doing. All right. When we come back. We're going to take a look at that chaos in Virginia. With the governor accused of being in a black face KKK photo from his medical school yearbook and the Lieutenant governor being accused of sex assault. And now they're sort of going after each other. We'll tell you more when we come back. John and Ken show KFI and your chance to win a.

"AM six forty. Our radio station. Johny Ken show. John kobylt and Ken chiampou KFI AM six forty Joaquin Guzman, El Chapo is the head of the Nola Mexican drug cartel and the feds finally got him and he's been on trial for. Months? Brooklyn, New York, and we have had Molly crane Newman from new York Daily News in the courtroom most every day and calling in a report to us is this trials fascinating. What this is. This is hard to believe, but they discussed whether El Chapo paid a one hundred million dollar bribe to the former Mexican president Enrica pain NATO. Let's talk to Molly Craig Newman. Molly. How are you guys? How are you? Good. Did that really happen? Yes. Eight did. So well, well, we don't know whether the payments happened, but we heard all about it today. So we've heard about political bribery at the highest levels over the last night, and we expect today's was the most extreme yet. So Alexey fine tastes choppers. Chaco is former secretary has been on cross examination told the court. If claims he made to US authorities during his initial debriefings at the government in two thousand sixteen which alleged former president of Mexico Enrica opinion, the editor accepted one hundred million dollars from El Chapo in October of two thousand twelve in exchange for protection, so further Morrissey, Fuentes said, it was actually who approached Chapo about the payment. So he told us today that initially he told the government in two thousand sixteen at the president elect he was president elect at the time. I demanded two hundred and fifty million dollars from Chapo, and then chapel haggled golden Dan to one hundred. You may remember this was to keep the government out of the drug cartels business pretty much pretty much. Yeah. To give chapel. The lay of the land. You know, just kind of lay off and let let him do his business, and there's a woman named commodity Maria who pays the bribe one hundred million dollars October twenty twelve at shops requests, and was that a check or how do you pay one hundred million dollar bribe? So we we we don't know who commodity marina is we don't know the form of payment. And then MO where cash? Yeah. We heard he did say at one point today. This is Jeffrey Lichtman chaplains lawyer is is asking as a these payments. And he often at one point today about this all pertains to his witnesses initial proffer sessions, but the government after he was extradited and Lichtman was asking him today about statements. He apparently made as suitcases full of cash on on that were taken on a plane of one of the president's consultants. But the witness said today that that he didn't remember making those statements and that while he did believe that that this payment was made to NATO. He doesn't believe that the the pictures of the suitcases full of cash had anything to do with this, and we did get wind of this months ago. So you might remember early on in the trial came during a sidebar the may have except may have accepted bribes from this cartel. And as soon as headlines broke issued a statement categorically denying the claims, you know, he made a point to saying that you know, he was the one who issue chapels extradition to the United States. And but nevertheless, you gotta wonder what see days has to gain or had to gain from telling. Authorities this. How many people are confused about? What exactly the defense's strategy is here? You know, this didn't come up on direct chapel. His own attorney made it clear to. Yeah. If right exactly that's what I was gonna ask you because if the defense attorney for Guzman is saying, hey, how about one hundred million dollars El Chapo paid to president NATO doesn't that indict El Chapo that? He was the kingpin. Nobody would have the authority to pay a bribe that big to the president of Mexico. It would have to be all chop up. Right. Right. Right. Yeah. He's telling him like a chapter had one hundred million dollars in his back pocket. Be was in bribery, Tokes of the president of Mexico. I can I can only surmise defenses that I can only I think like what Lichtman is trying to do here is to prove Chapungu wasn't the head of the enterprise. I guess like he was you know, he was prong in the defense can convince the jury the chapel is innocent of the top kind, which is leading continued criminal enterprise. He'll be spared of a life sentence. But again, I'm not sure this is the best way to do it. You know, the two can coexist, right? Chapo can be head of the cartel and the president can be corrupt and he can be bribing him, you know, to make business run smoother. But I think what I'm trying to do and say look they were business together. So that wasn't really illegal right or that. Or that chapel wasn't the leader. Prize that the day that they were that they remain go. Okay. But but I understand what you're saying. But just to remind people these are US charges for smuggling cocaine heroin and other drugs into the US to distribute around the country. So whatever the relationship wise. I mean pain you NATO could have been a partner with Shopco and running it shop. Oh, still was smuggling the drugs into the US for distribution. Right. Right. But the only the only count that he would get life on is content leading a continued criminal enterprise. So I don't know. I mean Lichtman has been quoted in past interviews not regarding this trial that saying that if he can you know, if he gets a mistrial he considers that a win. Or if he can just got one juror to believe that that not even chapel is innocent to not agree with the rest of the jury on one of the charges. So I think that's usually the goal when you have someone who's. Overwhelmingly guilty. You just throw up a bunch of dust into the air confuse everybody or get emotional. And hoping that there's one out of the twelve has a little bit of doubt and says, well, I'm not one hundred percent convinced. And then that's it. Right. Right. Right. I e even even at that. I don't think this was this was a very I really I'm interested to see where he's going with this and. Lichtman has hasn't had a great few days. I don't know if you guys saw the near post exclusively reported on Saturday night that like men who's married with twin teenage boys was cheating on his wife with one of his clients. Yeah. So and today he came in this morning. With that not wearing his wedding ring. And I don't know. Maybe maybe he's having some sort of a crisis, and he's the boss. The bus, but we'll see. Amazingly opinionated. Walter be only Mexican president maimed drop today as a Lichtman also asked you about lead statements he made in his debriefings regarding payments, the BELTRAN labor cartels. So they're the rival cartel cartel. Made to former president Felipe Calderon in exchange for protection against Choco as as he said, he didn't remember saying this, but Lichtman produced a copy off his statements to the government. And so for context that brings the total number of Mexican presidents who've been implicated in this trial to three which is what we heard from raise bribe payment made to the deputy. Andrey's manual Lopez over door who is the current president. When he was mayor of Mexico City has over door gotta payment to well. This is his deputy received a payment from Myo sambas brother in two thousand five and this in two thousand five Lopez was. Mayor of Mexico City, but this news this testimony came out like days before he was inaugurated, and you know, of course, all of these planes are just thought their claims, none of the president's charge. We've been you know, being in LA, we've been dealing with all this in Mexico and the whole time eight it seemed as if all the presidents were bribed. It just seemed like it would have to be that way considering what's been happening at the border. There is no way you could get what El Chapo accomplished and a lot of other people other smugglers to you could not get this accomplished unless you bought everybody off. This is it this is it and sitting there, and you know, the the scope of this it it's kind of ridiculous to to to think. Otherwise, I mean, I guess it's shocking when you hear this, and it's shocking to hear of course, that, you know, the president's received one hundred million dollars, and we're asking for two hundred and fifty million dollars. It doesn't make it any less shocking. But I guess it's not all about surprise. No, no. It's not. The size of the bribe is really is really what stunning. All right, Molly. We gotta run. Thanks very much. Thank you. Okay. Crane Newman, new York Daily News hundred million hundred million dollars, and he he wanted to hundred fifty million, and I remember that gas bag, and he was always pontificating and lecturing the US presidents and lecturing all the people who are objecting to illegal immigration and all that. And it's like, look, this is this is why Mexico is is is so difficult so difficult for people to live there because because all the money is in the drug cartel and their bribe in the government, and so the the regular economy is not tended to. And so, you know, we we we get the overflow, and then we've got to deal with it like to hear how much if any they tried to bribe member vicinity FOX at gas bag. Well, I'm sure they all did we got more coming up. John and Ken KFI. Debra Mark has news kids who miss school during the teachers strike will not be counted. As truant.

"John and Ken show. John kobylt Ken chiampou KFI AM, six forty. I will be joined by Congressman Tom McClintock coming up after the news at five o'clock. And also yesterday's big video. We had on our web page the did raccoon in the San Francisco McDonald's, it certainly did happen. And now we have a little bit more the story tell you about all coming up. Right. Gonna talk with Molly crane Newman, who's been covering the El Chapo trial Joaquin Guzman, the head of the Mexicans shinola drug cartel for so many years in the feds finally captured him, and he's on trial in Brooklyn and molly's been showing up every day with reports. Yeah. Good stuff today. Molly. What are you got today? Hey, guys, Dave was pretty wild. And we heard a series of text messages exchanged between El Chapo and his wife. Emma, Coronel obtained while the FBI was wiretapping his devices between two thousand eleven and two thousand twelve and let me tell you it made some very awkward listening. So I'm a Cornell was sitting in the gallery while these messages were being read to the court was this. Steamy sex stuff. Seaney sex staff. There was some kind of cheesy stuff in there, certainly embarrassing. I mean, it was clear, you know, listening to the messages these are texts that she never thought anyone would see, you know, let alone courtroom full of people being read by an FBI agent is to say Chapa wasn't blowing kisses today and the contract was while they go from sweet talking one minutes Emma jokes to chapter that she fell in love he fell in love with her because of her enchiladas to discussing, you know, murder and drug deals the next. She's a good cook. Apparently, she says, well it was. Presents a lot as a pet name for something else. We were we were wondering that in the press room this evening. I don't wanna know that you ran right through the important part for the case that there was stuff about drug deals in there. Arizona my truck deal says she well, her her father was one of Chaplin's associate so one of the they're talking to each other. She kind of looks like she's given her phone to her father, and they're texting, and we didn't have a lot of context we just know that he was organizing to travel over the border Ammon chapel was going to help them out and get on a plane one of his planes and on the twin daughters. They're six months birthday Chapo texts. MS saying that he wants to purchase an AK47. for one. And then later on in the threat, he says to her, you know, let me know if there's any suspicious cars that you see because he thinks that she's being followed. And there was some pretty incriminating stuff. You know? We also texts reveal that he Chapo did indeed fleeing property in Kabo, and which was rated by Mexican authorities in February twenty twelve so we heard about this radio today, but the witness never confirmed whether or not, you know, chapel fled the scene and in Texas this morning, you know, he's texting MSA I saw agents they were binding on my neighbors doors, Jim by the window. I'm okay, I'm gonna be gone for a couple of days. And she's like, oh, I hope you're okay. And you know, I'll watch it on the TV, and he's like, well, there's no TV where I'm going to turn on the news. It was totally bizarre. And we also heard him talking on the phone to one of his mistresses. Yeah. Stena Costa, a better enchiladas? No, no mention eventually IRAs and Mukasey was kind of a middleman for Chapo, rather. Middle woman texts from them about buying chemicals from Europe and drug shipments from Belize and Ecuador, and they're also talking about hiring lawyers for one of those workers who got picked up by the coast guard. And again speaking very lovingly to her in the messages, how did the wife take the recordings of the mistress? I would say wasn't either text messages are being read aloud. But he, you know, I think that she probably had a heads up about this. Because we we had a heads up. We knew that we were going to hear at some point text messages between them and Chatto. And it's no secret that he I mean, he had five wives and three at the same time. So I'm sure she was never lasts. I mean, it's humiliating to have this red land in corporate? There is humid stone-faced, although he didn't seem to faze. Her ordering is chicken salad in the cafeteria. Downstairs by twenty minutes later, but she she she just at the same expression on her face. And but the craziest part of all of this was that it was actually chaplains paranoia picture of which has slowed in and painted in this trial that led the FBI to these messages. So the cooperator who works with the FBI to track his calls and texts Christian Rodriguez took the stand late this afternoon, and he testified about choppers. Total obsession playing on literally everyone. So he retrieved gas was introduced to Chapo by the cartel in Colombia. And he's at the third time. He met him after he created this impenetrable communication system Chapo asked him, whether he could install spyware people's phones and started with ten people. But then he became totally obsessed and Henry Rodriguez hacking as many as fifty people, and you know, these his enemies it was his closest associates his family, his friends, and he was tracking their location their texts. Their cola Rodrigez said today that that's still wasn't enough and Chapo asked him it was possible to. Activate the microphone on the on their cell phones. So that he could call them at any time and just listening to whatever they were doing. And so it was pretty wild. And then when chap when rhetoric is eventually was approached by the FBI cooperating with them he was able to give them access to this. This whole new the spyware which wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Topo kind of being so pirated wanting to listen in on every ends up giving them a whole lot of evidence pretty much pretty much he shot himself in in both fees, and we've heard some damaging testimony from informants in this trial. But it looks like nobody has played a big role in its takedown then Rodriguez, which is pretty remarkable considering these essentially a computer nerd, it was barely Adams twenties. And but he held the keys like literally, he created the encryption keys to everything. So the calls the texts, you know, the most damning evidence we've heard in this trial yet, I think he could very well be the witness who ultimately seals chaplains face. How does the defense deal with all this? So Lichtman where they haven't got to read Reagan's yet. But on cross exam Jeffrey Lichtman, he he again, kind of tried to go with the whole conspiracy of how do we know this is really Chapo? And you know, what kind of how did you identify his voice in these calls, and he? The FBI agent said that he used is Rolling Stone interview on Kohl's that he's made out of MCC in Manhattan to compare it to the calls. They were they were recording the defense trying to say, well, we don't accept that. And you know, you could've used a more up-to-date, vocal recognition technology. But the jury heard the calls we all heard the coals. It's very clear, we're listening to the same person. And they're trying to their cases is pretty it's pretty looking quite week. Yeah. And even the photos there. It was introduced to the jury yesterday of Chapman starting with the with the assault rifle. And today the defense tried to enter into evidence Photoshop photo of El Chapo, which they admitted was photo shopped I guess to try and prove a point that well this images Photoshop, so maybe the one that the government. Yes scratching, but it's I don't know. It's almost comical now the enormous amount of evidence that they've had now for for many weeks. Right. It's like the story. Just never ends. It feels like they can go on for a year. We'll have been tracking investigating him for a long time as he's been a drug kingpins. And they had this ready. Right. Right. Right. I know it is truly unbelievable. It feels like it's time. We're gonna end. And this is, you know, the judge has been instructing the government all along the way to summed up summit up. We got very. Just get to the point. We don't need to hear every little detail. And this is them summing it up, which is kind of hard to wrap your head around. Thanks very much for coming out with us. Thank you guys. Yes. Molly Craig Newman, the new York Daily News covering for us, the L troppo trial, many felonies these being accused murders. "Molly crane Newman is with us from the new York Daily News, and she's been covering the trial of El Chapo, the shinola drug cartel leader. Who's on trial for dozens of crimes, and it's happening in Brooklyn. And that's why Molly come on with us. How are you? I'm doing good guys. How are you? Good. We're good one Carlos Ramirez. The body is Colombian drug Lord. And he was on the stand for a third straight day. That's right. So this was his third day on the stand. And we the fourth cooperating witness and starts starting to testify at the end of today as well. But the most exciting came from Carlos Ramirez also known as the man with a thousand faces. So we heard a lot about his bookkeeping yesterday. And today an chaplains lawyers filed a motion Larry Monday to preclude testimony event ledgers that he kept on account of the fact that he's on the run when most of them are written up, but the judge declined to issue a formal ruling. So we heard all about them. Just explain for people just catching up that Ramirez. What was the main supplier of cocaine to El Chapo almost twenty years? Correct. Correct. There's billions and billions of dollars that he brought in from Colombia. He he testified and last week is I I understand that he was responsible for trafficking four hundred thousand kilos of cocaine to the United States and ordering up to one hundred and fifty killings. He was one of the leaders of the north valley cartel down in Columbia, so correct the cocaine originated with him he would get it to this and a little cartel. And then they were getting into the US. Yeah. He ordered one hundred fifty people to be killed and today testified about one of them which he killed himself among others. And so he said today he told the jury that he shall one man in the face in two thousand and four I spelling secrets of the north valley cartel. You told them about another guy he ordered killed for sharing information. And in that case, he said, he instructed his Sakari is to wait until the victim was nice and relaxed and before shooting him in the back of the head. And he said he had an attorney shot dead in a bookstore because the guy kept getting. Drunk and talking about the north valley cartel, and he tested a testament one of his first bosses whose name was Ivan urged, you know, who had a penchant for killing people with chainsaws and then throwing them into the river. And he said that he had him and take out a few of his enemies, and he said he had seven or eight people kill for kidnapping, his son. A number of people killed in New York. Among them, a family mother father and a son for stealing from stash houses. He never got caught. He killed all these people and. No. He he he only actually killed one of them himself. But he ordered all of the all of the rest of the coming so his carriers. And so he he only actually admitted to one she's been any time in prison for all of us. He's he's been in prison in America in the United States since two thousand eight when he was extradited and he served four and a half years in Columbia in the late ninety s and he served four and a half years of a twenty four year prison sentence. He said T testified today that he paid off Colombian officials to the tune of I think it was seven million dollars. And so he got ahead after four years. And but now he has indeed he's been he hasn't yet been sentenced, and he pleaded guilty into you guys in ten and he's hoping that his testimony from the last couple of days. We'll get him a five K letter, which is basically a letter from prosecutors to the judge expressing how much he's helped and how important is testimony was but you to the terms of the extradition. The agreement. He can't serve less than twenty six already concert more than thirty years and under the terms of his cooperation agreement conserve less than twenty five. So the best. He's hoping for is is a twenty five year prison sentence as soon as he is sentenced how did his testimony implicate El Chapo today. So today, he talked a lot about New York stash has is. So he said that when he was doing business in New York before his first arrest in ninety nine and he will first of all he was talking about how basically him and this cartel what they would do is they would withhold cocaine from market for weeks on end, creating kind of drives. And then they'd release it in Jack up the price. And he told us a lot about you know, how much he was profiting and how much El Chapo was profiting in the up until his arrest in nineteen ninety six and he said he was sending this cartel approximately. He's a low cartel approximately two hundred tons of cocaine from the early ninety s until nineteen Ninety-six and Chapo himself was responsible for smuggling about eighty to ninety thousand kilos of that. So to give you an idea of how much money they were making of Chapo sold each of those kilos at a minimum price, which in New York City at the time was twenty thousand dollars. He profited approximately. Six hundred and forty million dollars during those years. So that that that was how he implicated him, and where is all his money since he's now in jail. When he was extradited to the us. He forfeited a billion dollars in assets. And he also is so houses his yard, and like very, you know, you can imagine. But what the total was one billion dollars. And he also paid one point two million dollars as of his his money. His money is gone. His money is in the hands of the US government. How does the cross examination of a guy like this go? What are they get out of this? So on cross exam. They've kind of just been treating all of the government's cooperating witnesses kind of had the same tactics. So purported today, he's kind of just trying to shift the blame. And you know. Defense attorney William William report is the defense attorney s on cross exam. He's kind of just been trying to paint all William purport has been dealing with the cooperating witnesses and cross examination, and he's kind of just trying to paint them as liars today. Poor poorer focused on the killings that was where we heard about all of these murders. And I think he's kind of just trying to show the jury. Well, look at this guy are you gonna trust? What comes out of his mouth, you know, he killed a family. He shot him man in the face. And that's of where all the gory. Details are coming in the prosecutors are getting to that. But they're kind of sticking to sticking to the. The operations. Business was done. And then once defense attorneys get to them, they ask them. They're asking them about their own crimes. I mean because the contention is that from the defense, and it'll show was not a big drug cartel kingpin. There was a low level player. So when this Colombian guy comes in and says, oh, no I supplied him with cocaine to smuggle into the US. He's a top operator. How do they answer that? How do you answer the defense? How does the defense pull apart that argument that this Colombian witness is saying he did direct drug deals and big ones with El Chapo was the leader of the cartel. How do they tear that do they try? They don't they don't really try to kind of just trying to steer the conversation and distract. I guess I'm kind of pin the blame you know, like what they did. With raise the defense to him. They were saying, well, you know, it wasn't El Chapo. It was your brother your brother who's still in this lower mountains is still running the cartel. They're trying to shift the blame onto other cartel leaders or else, you know, just kind of vilify these guys who are on the stand who are, you know, kind of this guy is responsible for one hundred and fifty innings, and and you know, they're not doing a bad job of that. But I don't think that the evidence is overwhelming against Chapo, so yeah. They're not trying to say that a body had no relationship with El Chapo. They didn't even know each other not trying to say that. Yeah. No. They're not. They're kind of just they're they're trying to say that the the he's been painted as this kind of almost mythical figure when really wasn't one of the big players. He was involved, but but he's he's kind of been scapegoat. They don't have a defense. They're just hoping the jury is through scared to convince maybe. That's what it's looking like a little bit. Yeah. But we'll see. All right, Molly. Thanks for updating us. Thanks, guys. Molly crane Newman for the new York Daily News and other day in the trial of El Chapo again. The prosecution building their case that indeed this is a drug cartel kingpin, not some lower level player. And I think she just said so far it's just to defend the the evidence is overwhelming. So we'll see if the defense can get anything. But John's right. The jury would only probably find him not guilty to spare their own lives is. That's his only hope if they got to the jury already with either bribes or threats John and Ken KFI. Debra Mark has news. Former Senate majority leader Bob Dole is among those.
