"Com version of the website if you care enough, I wanna make sure I'm not sending an apple news. You are. I want to send the original URL. On the MAC version. There was no open in safari. And there wasn't a way to copy. The link. It was like one of the first ways I figured out to get a real URL out of it was to copy the URL. Which would copy an apple dot news slash whatever. Unique identifier URL, and then instead of using safari go to chrome and pasted in there, and then it would redirect to the original website because chrome doesn't know the magic. Hey, if it's an apple news URL open an apple news. But if you opened it in safari, it would always take you to safari. There was other than using chrome or some other third party software. There was no way to get the original URL like that's crazy and very unmacht. Like Donncha is limited anyway. I don't know. I see that stuff as a I'm very worried about it to be honest that if if this is actually a sign of where apple thinks, you know, that these are fine examples of. The other thing is that in the latest version of Mojave. They added a file share or copy safari link button or something I forget what they did. I don't use Mojave on a daily basis. So I forget what it was. They added a menu item that does that does give you the original URL. So there is that. It might even still be in. The the beta version, that's not actually shipping. So anybody out there who is looking in Mohave and looking for while I listen to this. Maybe it's not there yet. But there is a solution in the beta at least, but it is not it's not the right solution. It's certainly not the MAC like one. So I'm deeply concerned that these are. There either. Some type of prototypes that that are that affectively should have been branded as public betas that worshiping public betas of these four apps in Mojave Mojave will be shipping as a non beta OS in the fall, and it will include for public betas of these apps. Which they did not say these apps are not branded is public. Betas branded is the MAC version of home news, and whatever. I'm deeply concerned. If the mistake is that they should have been called public betas, and they didn't want to come public betas. But they've got much better ideas for where they're going with this stuff. Then I can't wait. I look forward to hearing about those ideas, if these are actually indicative of where apple MAC ups like what makes a reasonable MAC app from apple then I'm I've maybe never been more concerned about the future of the platform. That's that's the mystery. Isn't it is did they think these were? Okay. Or are. They just trying to the advantage of shipping is especially for news news is a news as an important platform for them. It's an thing for them to do home. Right. Having home kit. Support is important to have. I get why the you want to get those in Mojave. So you can say finally the MAC can do these things I've been complaining about no home kit support in the last couple of years. Right. So great. It was like when the MAC didn't have Siri for years. Right. Yeah. Exactly. And it's like, you know. Okay. So now now we can do that. And I get it. But there is I do think it's an interesting question. Why they didn't given how apple has really become much more open to branding things. As beta shipping. Beta things in their operating systems for a while. Now to not have branded these as a beta or something because I I hear just like you do I'm sure from people when you criticize these apps say, but you know, it's just a just trying it out. It's just new and it's like, yeah. But it in the shipping version of the software. It's not a beta it's the final version of these apps that ships with the OS, so they obviously have some degree of confidence because they didn't slap that label on it..

"So it's not actually today if you're listening to it, but it's today in podcast land that Matt came out with a new operating system. Is that correct? So so that means all update sometime probably ten months now. This would be good to talk about because this won't be me imploring you and whoever else he's like me. So both their phones and their desktops are going to update with new for for phones and pads. It's Iowa, twelve, and for computers, it's MAC OS called Mojave Mojave fancy wait. Why do they name the IOS and not the operating system? Didn't they used to name the opportunism. The operate system has gone. They had for while it was all cats. Yeah. Why. And all that. And they started going with specific locations like Yosemite, capitain enlists Mojave now. I see. Sorry, the operating system Mojave, but the IRS is just give it twelve for the Mojave. It's the same Ruina will be more fun. Just started both did something really ridiculous. Like categories of, it'd be like. Nuclear's. Yeah. Seeing like biologicals weird, weird, criolla colors or something. But when I was in graduate school, actually, they named. So you have these big server farms, kind of that our whole bunch of different computers hold on your data. If you do stuff like MRI and we had one that was all dead scientists that was one of them. And then one of the other ones was all DJ's. Nine thousand nine hundred New York City. Yeah, that's pretty great. So apart from the name, what's cool about this thing? Couple of things I think will make a difference for pretty much everybody start with my holidays. This is for MAC, laptops and desktops to actually that was worth mentioning. I, it seems like they're a couple scandals where people were like, okay, apples making old phone slower, making their batteries, less efficient, right to try and compel you to upgrade. Generally not true phones of really complicated and all these devices are complicated. But in general, every update is bigger for security addressing like malware, stuff like that. That might come through. We talked earlier about black hats. So grey hats who all the colors of hats who find all the problems and openings and tell companies like apple Bennett. Yeah. So white hats, helping apple all these different companies guard against these kinds of things. But besides that one major went, so if you know anybody who has like crazy, messy desktop on the macro, like people just dump everything on it stresses me out so much kills me. So this new futures called stacks. So what you do is you when you turn on everything on your desktop gets organized into images, PDF's folders or whatever. So you get like maybe five or six piles of things that you can just navigate through their takes everything from being just scattered everywhere that for you? Correct? Yeah. And do you choose to let it do that for you, or does it just do that? You can turn it off and you can tell if you want to buy filed last updated Sophos updates. Now. Settings or something. Yeah, you go to across when you're on the finder like you just looking at your out those things across the top. You'll find a tab for where you can check a box that says, you stacks, okay, organize into stacks. So they'll take care of that. The other small item to which I think is kind of hope happens Moore's the default desktop picture for it. How does really killer like stock art for their background paper one for this is this like ridge in the Mojave desert as the day goes on, like sun changes position in like shadows change. It looks like it's actually progressing the day. It's complete novelty, but I think that's kind of does the light change. Channels with the time of the day. Okay. Because that's good. We'll talk about this on a future podcast, but I'm doing a story about circadian rhythms and how light is it's very important. So for tiger for suffered their circadian rhythm to get that shot up for days all day, twenty hours. Speaking of that, actually maybe of relevance to there's a most famous one features, dark mode. So everything that was like silver white will be kind of muted and more stealthy looking is that..

"Oh, there's a, there's a store I want to say about Mojave. Mojave is a very interesting stop on our journey. That's we're, I take our bathroom break. I'll go ahead and top off the car, get a diet, red bull. We go right down the road, let the dogs do their business, but Mojave it's not the most memorable place in the world or I, I don't want all it is memorable because we're talking about it. For the people that I always like EDNA. I mean, if you're not from there, you probably don't get it. It's not even near EDNA, but you know what I'm saying? There's like a couple of gas stations and a lot of stores that have been shut down, but people that are just a little bit differently. Get guy when you ask about those gimmick shades at that part storms as wing. Got it. Or if it ain't on a shelf. We got it. Yeah, I kind of attitude one time we was gassed up. If you remember this out sitting there gas, I look right beside me in the dues on aside the pope and he's sitting there smoking a cigarette while he's gases up. I'm like, dude, what are you doing? It just looked at me like I was just some idiot, like maybe you value your life very much, but I've, you might. I have precious cargo in my Yukon XL in the name of two dogs, and my lustrous wife do smoking a cigarette while his gas initiate up. Well, it's just kind of a weird town because you wonder who lives there and what do they do? Well, I mean, you'd wonder the same thing about EDNA, but I'm just saying it's very. Interesting. We've seen some very interesting things in Mohave and interesting things is there's an apparel shop there. Every time we go through there. We see this damn billboard what's called intimate encounters, intimate encounters and his lingerie and adult toys. Mojave what's the population of Mojave? Eight thousand people. Eight thousand five thousand. I'd say click seven hundred, seven hundred while I mean there's seven gas stations. They're like Burger King. Carl's junior, and there's intimate encounters lingerie store and adult toys.

"I'm actually friends with your wife on Pokemon go now. Thank you. That's awesome. When you put inflammation, I went ahead and. She now has two hundred friends. One of them is you. That's awesome. Sarah, do you play? You must do. Lee plays a family. We like to go out and walk around the neighborhood. As a family, you know what kills us. You know, my wife and I are twelve year olds, but our fifteen year old won't play anymore zone. I'm done with that. Oh, we had so much fun two years ago when it came out and and reasons came up Serono's, but I'll tell the rest of you is because the folks who do pokey mongo Niantic updated it considerably over the last six months and really brought back a lot of the fun of the game. You can have friends for one thing and see where they go. So thank you, Sarah, that's nice. Gifts from Kansas. And she knows where it's, I'll say, look for Sarah's gets from Kansas, and I'm surely getting some Petaluma gifts as well. That's nice. Thank you. Yeah, we're at least I should mention lease and I are now maxed out. You can only have two hundred friends, and so we both do unfortunately. So no more. No new friends. What's your favorite Pok Mon. I'm a peak chew fan me to peak achieves been a good summer for Pika chew fans. Lots of pitches in sunhats. That's right. Now I'm playing it by the way. What if I get a little distracted, it's because I see vino NAT, I've just got to pick him up. What can I do for you? Sarah. Well, I bought a used book is the twenty ten. So I know what it's quite old, but we upgraded the the ram and put an SSD drive. Good upgrades when I'm concerned about is when Mojave comes out. Do I go from high Sierra? The Mohave or my better off staying with an older Aleph. The general rule is apple lets you do it. Apple will, at some point, cut it off and you won't end it'll say, sorry, you know, this is the most recent you can use, but you should upgrade if you can. The good news is in the last eight years, eight year old laptop, but until hasn't made massive improvements in processors and and so you're probably pretty compatible with anything Apple's doing right now. Fear or pretty well. Yeah. Yeah. And so I think, yes, absolutely. Go to Mojave Mojave has some nice new features. You know, the main reason you wanna do is for any security and bug fixes that that are there in apple doesn't necessarily publicize those. So you always want to get the updates, but you don't have to worry. Apple won't let you update if it's not compatible or it's going to really slow your system down. They're pretty good about that. I like the older. You know, I my real reluctance on upgrading to the new macbook pro besides the price was I really like the older MAC books. I like the travel. I don't mind the bigger size is a little thicker. That's fine. Better battery life. And I would like the keyboards. I don't like the touch borrow that much. They don't have a touch bar. So I was using a twenty fifteen macbook pro until until I got this new one, they're very good. Yeah. When I go to get a new one, I I, I'm gonna wait till they get that keyboard once out. I feel like this one's better. It's not. You know, we'll see if it's as if it's more reliable. I think they have solved that and and I was a big as you know, hater of the new butterfly keyboards. This one, it's just a slight difference, but it's enough to make me say, well, I think I can live with it, not happy, but I think I can live with it. You you're, you're twenty ten just fine. Keep stick with it. By the way they stopped selling those when they put out these new macbook pros. That was it on the twenty fifteen the fifteen inches. They're not selling those old ones anymore. So I don't know what will happen the macbook air, which is the last really old. MAC book old-style Mak but they sell. But my my sense is they're, they're dropping that to sometime this year. Sarah, so nice to talk to you a look for you. Look for some Hutchison, Kansas pokey stops. All right. Take care. Used MAC book is a twenty ten so I know, it's it's quite old but we upgraded the way I'm in put in an SST good upgrades?
