"Shelly when you get there then overarm read it are are slash motor week subscribe first and then diverted into the conversation. Start Your own conversation. Post a photo posted video. Anything you WANNA DO is fair game. There aren't so here here. It is the rundown everything we're going to talk about on this episode of the program which is dedicated to the news from say last week and a half or so in the world of Mo- GP of course the the biggest story the Andrea. You know a saga. The B sample reportedly comes back positive. What does it mean? And in addition to that what what are appropriate options for the Sapang test potentially for the rest of the season and then the third thing I want to talk about when it comes to this holding you own a saga is should should Modo. GP Change How they test riders for performance enhancing drugs. Because I will say if Andrea known a made an honest mistake believe it or not more testing could have helped him in his case. Now I'll explain a little bit later but just keep that in mind for now but I do promise we will move on from that story. We're not going to spend the entire episode just talking about Andrea. We got some other big name riders to chat about to hail. Lorenzo is a test rider for Yamaha. Would it work well. It might happen in fact. It looks like it's very very likely that it's going to happen. Valentino Rossi has asked yet again about retirement but this time his answer is a little bit more interesting would he actually actually consider a satellite ride motor. GP should he consider a satellite ride and motor GP. We'll find out what he says. And then I'll tell you what I think about it as well. Paul SPA grow talks about. KTM's interesting new frame and the impact of Dani Pedrosa on that organization heading into the season that will wrap up with a couple of announcements Michelin making their announcement about their twenty twenty tire offering and multiple Modo GP teams have announced when they're going to do their team presentations including every every single factory squad. So we'll talk about those at the end of the program all right. So that's what we're going to talk about so let's start talking. What do you say we'll kick things off obviously with the biggest story of the off-season and one that is not gonNa go away any time soon? So I'm sorry if you're sick of it like I said we're not going to spend the entire episode on it but they're certainly something to talk about here because we're on the verge of something unprecedented in the modern motor. GP Era and we've got no official word yet from the F. If I am or from Dorna about the testing of Andre is sample how it went what the results were what they're gonNa do from here but our good friends at log is at the dello sport. Apparently we have some sort of inside line on all things Andre you know now. And according to them the B sample in his drug test did come up positive for the same substance that was reported boarded the first time draw standalone but according to log as to the amount of that substance found in the B sample was very small So I'll I'll start with the same exact thing. I said the first time we talked about this I think is is being quite optimistic overall. And that's understandable. I mean they are in Italian media outlet and they're talking about a popular Italian rider. They got his back. It makes sense and in all honesty. Nobody wants any writer suspended or the have something like this happen to them. I mean in motor. GP There's enough interesting stuff going on that we don't need this type of drama and it makes the sport look bad too so I don't think anybody should want Andre did test positive But obviously there are a little bit biased in how they're viewing things. I thank and I still think a lot of online outlets are kinda following their lead and just saying hey you know. Steroids equals muscles. It doesn't make sense you must acquit it kind of their version of the CHEWBACCA defense. But I won't bore. All of us myself included rehashing. What it said on the last show on how there are other uses for steroids remember? They're not testing for steroids. They're testing for performance. Enhancing drugs now muscle-building drugs performance enhancing drugs in those come in all all shapes and forms now according to as legal team. And if you WANNA know why I'm saying that just go back and listen to episodes ago. I explained it all there according into these legal team. They're playing defense here is that he must have eaten some sort of tainted beef while in the exotic unexplored wilds of Southeast Asia Asia. And that's why he tested positive. It was all just a misunderstanding and Andrei should immediately be let back on the bike. Okay I'm being a little bit sarcastic. There it is it absolutely is possible to ingest. Steroids threw me it enough. That it'll show up in a urine test and there are definitely places in Asia that are illegally using steroids in their livestock to boost production makes bigger cows right leaner cows but with that being said. It's kind of tough. I I mean you have to eat a lot of meat from the right part of the cow where it was injected in to really have a good shot of it. You know getting through your system and turning up as a positive test and that's evidenced by the fact that so many athletes in so many different sports. Oh no no I ate some meat some meat and how many of those have you know. Gotten out of their suspension or gotten gotten out of their penalty because of it hardly emmy and and from everything. I've been able to find when someone ingests steroids for meat meet in the cases where they have proven that the meat was tainted in one way or another. It usually confined to specific types of of steroids. And there's a reason for that because they're only specific types that are commonly used in the livestock industry mostly because they're cheap and remember the farmers that are doing. This are trying to artificially boost their production so they can make more money than trying to spend more now trying to make instagram cows. Here they're trying to make cows with a lot of beef for people to eat right eight and then on top of that dress Stan. Low Master on whatever you WANNA call it from everything I've found then again. I'm no expert on this and I'm certainly not a doctor but from everything. I've found what what does that too is saying that Andrea tested positive for. It's not something that's cheap. The high quality stuff is kind of a bit of a designer drug and because of that it's almost exclusively used by athletes. Not necessarily something they'd be. You know buying in bulk to inject cows with you know so. I don't know if that defense is going to be terribly effective and I tried. I really tried to find instances where an athlete that tested positive for this drug. Just antelope had successfully used accidental ingestion. From food as a defense and it wasn't that it couldn't find anybody who successfully I couldn't find anybody who even tried let alone succeeded when it comes to meet. There was one case of an athlete that was being given a liquid supplement that had that drug inside of it. And so you knew do that. He that's where it came from. You know it was going to test positive because that's where it came from. It wasn't something he was accidentally ingesting. He claimed he didn't know what was in it. which is what everybody so? It's not I an officer and I know what that is so again it all comes down to what Andrea actually tested positive for and whether it was this drugged your standalone or not but with the B sample. Testing positive is well for whatever it is. The outlook isn't good and the amount whether it's the lottery little it doesn't matter I mean that's telling the police officer you're only a little drunk right. It's not GonNa make too much of a difference and we've seen in other cases most notably with Nori hauge where where it was accidental. He was taking supplement and he genuinely didn't know her claim that he didn't know what was in it but in that case being an accident dim prevented from a penalty. And I don't think it would in this case. Certainly his legal teams request to put him right back on the bike. That's not happening and not just because I don't think they're going to be able to prove that it came from meet even if they could prove that there's going to be a penalty. There will be a penalty. It's just a matter of how long and honestly I don't know I. I don't know how long it'll be on a how it's GonNa work out. I mean seeing as how the recommended penalty is four years. Then I would imagine that even a really good defense would you may be. Cut that down by half maybe three quarters even if they get seventy five percent of the penalty reduced. That's still a year and of course by half his two years and I think either one of those would pretty much doom. His Motor G. P. Career and if it's four years I mean that's it anywhere if it's one or two years. I think that there would definitely be some interest in world superbike if he stayed in shape. But I mean come on. He's going to stay in shape. It's Andrea No. He's got his cell phone cameras to think about here and then as as long as he stays in shape without any artificial help then I think he would get looked at by world superbike. I'm but at minimum minimum. Even if everything should go right for you known days legal team he's looking at at least a forty five day process for the various appeals which are allowed and we'll certainly be filed and for some strange reason season. He had the opportunity right when this was announced he had the opportunity to appeal the suspension. Right away pending testing of the B sample in all of the you know further processes that go along with that and if he had done that then technically from what I understand he would be allowed to participate in the Spang test and a couple weeks but because he didn't do that then he's there's no way I mean he is certainly going to be sitting out for the test and most likely is going to be sitting out for the Qatar test. Fast as well and then. I'm sure there's going to be a penalty. So he's going to be sitting out far beyond that so the question then becomes who replaces Andre for the season in my money is definitely Bradley Smith. I think that's their guy. And it makes perfect sense. He's got motor. GPA experience recent motor GP experience. He's got plenty of apparently early experienced now and he could help the organization in their main.

So Marquez thank will take the victory but then again tomorrow Marquez when he crashes or something happens to just protect anyone's GonNa win not ten stop and so yeah yeah I think the vets use all well Erkki dead into a seventeen and of course last year until he fell off with them a lot and a half remaining so Bob Thank Marquez will prevail come the race and and but talking to me and as a milestone for Hillary Enzo will be has two hundred premiere I start and he's going to be the youngest in history so as a very cool stat for he'll Lorenzo and was trying to look up the the other raiders two two hundred primer class races but I completely forgot it so then end up looking at top but yeah horror Lorenzo maybe it'd be a great turning point FM two hundred and you never know maybe it could be a turning point for milestones Egos Mackenzie gear and maybe the Honda will collect once again or no once again not Lorenzo will do something interesting and noteworthy and won't be a complete failure well yeah absolutely I think we all do because whether you like Lorenzo no he's incredible editor and whilst we see yeah was of course so seeing him floundering at the back is Assad and it really shouldn't be something there a champion of has caliber is doing so it'd be good to see him back up again the front and Well going far for veterans podiums because African can do that then we could be we could be well and for and maybe a Mar Marquez or Hillary wins or face often Repsol Honda which we were Hoping Star all twenty thousand nineteen but we will I know that's that didn't happen so if if he wasn't to have been injured let's just imagine for a second total fantasy world but if he didn't pick up injury the style before the season do you think he would I mean obviously wouldn't be right back at the back of the pack we think probably but then he would have micheals would have been challenged bit more or a toll if that's all I'm very tough question to ask and I'm you I know you always ask the tough questions don't you you've got to look at it from the point of view before his injury acid he was starting to show a saints off of Trum Choi Improvement on the bake because remember the first few laps castle worked his way up to third place before he and fortunately tecate half the field behind Marc Marquez and if you look at that then the potentials there and it's not just give it to fill fill that that crash us in which was a bad crash indeed and it was a big injury has had an effect on them mentally I mean I could be wrong by ultimately believe that is the thing that's back the most not the big for himself so he's mentality so which translates roughly into no he wouldn't He probably Marquez is I I would say if it was a if it was if it was all about just they straight fights and everything was equal Marquez would have the edge on him mentally and that's why Marquez would probably have crushed him into the ground which he d only demonstrated this year. Oh yeah absolutely Marc Marquez is mainly one of the strongest raiders and the field probably one of the the strongest sports competitors world as soon as soon as something goes against him he turns that negative everything ended up as we north all with Rossi's fans and bring him so he basically just turns out and make some it makes them stronger so yeah he was when it's quite interesting you you mentioned the he that crushed everyone he has done not just the commission but everyone else and it's crucial and Lorenzo of basically stated on opinion that they would have preferred to redden twenty thousand this year because well it was easier to rates but Marc Marquez says I don't care while I'm writing I prefer the two thousand eighteen bake it may be more difficult to handle by his foster the three tenths on average quicker than bake so it's serve going with the opinion it Marquez or Honda haven't built the Baker Rain Marquez have also taken aboard we'll crush those being diagnosed with the over the few years but and taken on board with Lorenzo's wanted to do with it but it smart mark as they scorn bake and bake the suits have the most an teamster gravitate more towards the Raider during the best enormously Honda would have done that would have gravitated awards will Marquez wants them to bake then or pejorative wanted to go by what's Chrysler would've wanted and what Lorenzo may want from because of their low for the back and and Lorenzo's Casey's well nearly one hundred points paying these anyway so does that pretty much wrap-up all of the the loads of other bits of detail and stuff but the the main Mojo GP points for now before we move onto other things we pretty much Komo knows anything else left to to mention to be honest usually when we do these shows news breaks on the Thursday and we don't doubt about it until after we've gone off air like I dunno Rossi just retired and we just got fat and they'd be like Crab Dimension Toby is there are there are there in Japan at the moment so I think they're all asleep right now so we we have I have a fairly good feeling that nothing's going to break the team being when just gets up and goes you are gone idea just something like in the morning over yeah you're right so we'll we'll have to see Butts Echo pull other other tiny bits of news as well as just fating talk from Alex Rennes he's targeting direct yours all for second championship which is also what you're GonNa do Mathematical Johnson and self I can totally welby m reading this weekend wildcard I Suzuki so he'll be back in action and get to see the number fifty back and you'll be getting in some important testing data for oversea the twenty twenty sixty so we're going to be seeing lots of most salvatore reading this weekend at the Japanese circuit okay right it is the superbike show money's last and Liam Hudgens is here and we did have Tim Davis he's off for a while so he's falsely slipped away he was making his debut on the show and well I'd say good sports author even making your debut because I only evade like with an hour to go so super last minute and considering investing off to bed AH we will continue for now at least 'cause we.

"Number three, Melissa before my top five things from the catalog GP, nobody wanting to win the Motari race. There were three different guys that were in control of the race. Now, obviously, it's Motari race everything can change on the extreme, but three guys that had to retire or wrecked out from the lead in the race. The downside is that on of those guys won the upside is that keeps the motive three championship battle alive and interesting. In fact, right now, it's the only championship battle that is wide open, which makes it a heck of a lot more fun. And the final thing about five list from Catalunia Marc Marquez may have locked up the MotoGP championship, obviously, there's still a lot of racing left ago. There are lot of good tracks for cadi. But when you've got the kind of lead that Marquez right now it's just so difficult to make up. I mean we're talking almost forty points not quite but almost forty points to do that. Amar Marquez unique need. A lottery says that means that do Coty has to buckle down right now. And at the end of the year, we may look back at this particular race and say that this was the turning point, this was the critical moment that one Mark yet another mo- GP title, biggest surprise for me in this one, obviously that we're Hillary's play motorcycle bowling with the main contenders in the race. You know we've seen everyone make mistakes it's bound to happen when you're racing so close to the edge in such close quarters with so many other great bikes and great writers. But it really is rare that one small mistake takes out so many top contenders that was a big surprise the biggest disappointment is that we didn't get to see the race play out. I wanted to see if maverick fan, y'all is had anything from our Marquez, if Andre Decio, so could hold everybody off and because of that we may not get to see nearly as interesting of championship battle the rest of the year as we had hoped for. So for me that's the biggest disappointment. We'll never know for a lap and a half. It looked like it was going to be very interesting race now might not have any end. But the problem is will never know. And that is a pretty big bummer. All right. Let's go from talking about the race itself to transitioning over to the MO GP news, and what happened on Monday and Catalunia. And that was an official open test for all Moto GP teams star by talking about the results maverick than y'all was fastest with a one thirty eight point nine six seven.

"The motor week podcast with your host Wilson would just when you thought all of the craziness was over with the motive three race, then MO GP happened. Hello and welcome to the motor week post ratio per round. Seven of the world championship at the circuit, the Barcelona Catalonia. My name is Wilson, I'm your host and. At a motorcycle race. We watched or, or demolition derby. Wow. I mean Motari was crazy enough. But had Moto GP race what a Malay I mean only thirteen bikes finish the entire race. And how does that happen? In turn ten Lorenzo took out every single rider importing contention, except for his own teammate. And in the process, he took what had the makings of a great race and turn it into a Sunday ride for Marc Marquez with potentially huge championship implications. So we're going to talk about it, but there were two other races outside of the mo- GP race. We got a new championship leader and one of them. So let's talk about those guys I starting with motive three and speaking of crazy laps. What happened on the last lap of that race? Kato toba who come from the back of the pack now just the lead. But the league comfortably at the front and it looked like. He was going to have an excellent shot of being the first two time winner a motor three this year. And then on the last lap, he just loses the front and bins it, and that's it the end of his race and the end of his chances to win obviously. But it wasn't just toe. But that was affected by that because he went down in front of everyone that caused a bunch of guys to check up John McFee nearly launched himself into the stratosphere and made incredible. Save by the way. And then it was on, because Marcos Ramirez, somehow had to foresight to notice that, hey, Gaza checking up here. There's a real opportunity, he shoots through the gap..

"Actually, a lot of motor GP news surrounding all of this to Kati drama because the protest controversy. Definitely heated up this past week everybody. It seems was talking to the media either the Italian media or the Spanish media. I thank both of them for staying on top of this. Because I mean, obviously over here on this side of the world. Nobody's even knows what I'm referring to when I say the do Coty spoon. They think that I've just got like a bowl of minestrone, and I'm eating soup for lunch or something. Like that of. All right. So let's start with what do khadi themselves had to say about the controversy this week because she she'd Alenia definitely took a couple of shots at the manufacturers who were attacking them now, obviously with everyone not named Yamaha taking aim do. Khadi isn't going to take all of the accusation sitting down, it's perfectly understandable. So what does the mastermind behind that controversial little part on the bottom of the bike have to say about the whole thing? Well, Zhijie is confident that that part that the do Coty spoon is completely legal. Now. Of course. He's going to say that. Why wouldn't he say that? My would he say anything else, she she did an interview with sky Italia? And he said that the part and its usage was covered under one of those unreleased technical bulletins that went out to all of the teams. Now, one could argue that is a bit of an open ended defense since just referring to the re regulation leaves things completely open to interpretation, and it's an interpretation we can't even make because we don't have access to that regulation at this point. And so do Qadis view of what was written in that memo could be a lot different than that of the other teams of the F IM of mo- GP or of technical director, Danny Aldridge, although we know that Aldridge agreed with them, but Paolucci body of Takada clarified that they had indeed gotten approval he used the words she she didn't in his interview. But she Abbadi said in his interview that they had gotten approval by Danny Aldridge, and I believe that because they would have been crazy. We not to submit that part for proven beforehand, even if the regulation didn't say you had to I would have submitted it anyway, so if policy about he says, they did I figure they probably did. And if that's the case, then the other manufacturers are protesting Aldridge's decision just as much as they're protesting. Do Qadis interpretation of the rim. Regulation now when it comes to his fellow manufacturers out there that are protesting in. Well, she she said he was the most supported in Honda, and he suggested that it was a bit beneath them to file a grievance against another championship level rival, therefore, implying that they feel you know, they need to use these tactics.

"You know, I think the majority of us would agree that motor GP is a step above s became the pecking order now in the end, it's two different types of bikes to different types of racing. And that's why not every motor GP of rider can go over there and light it up in superbikes. But I think that's why it happens more often that way, and I don't think it speaks bad to world superbike. The only thing the only thing you can really draw from that is that when you have somebody like Jonathan Ray that dominates him world superbike, then you have to look at this situation and say, well, why didn't they go to mo- GP? Of course, we've covered that ad nauseam on the show, and it really just has to do which on raise age, and you know, he just wouldn't have the opportunity to build a motor GP career starting off right now at his age. So that's why he's staying. But I don't think it speaks badly the world superbike that someone like t's too can show up and. From really well. But of course, I wasn't all for Chrissy had two more questions. D why did to Kathi let of our Oba to leave motor JP good question. But in the end it all boils down to age. That's really it. I mean, the only way that Bautista could have moved up from where he was would be to go to pray MAC or to the factory do khadi team. And you know, when you've got a thirty four year old writer that hasn't scored a ton of points in its MotoGP career only has I think three podiums to his name, and he's going up against a twenty eight year old in protrude. She a twenty four year old and Jack Miller and a twenty two year old and Petco back ni- the old guys gonna lose out every time I'm because every team every team is searching for the next Marquez a motor GP guys like Rossi and Dovy being successful in their thirties. Are the exception not the rule. So it is going to be incredibly rare that a team or manufacturer takes a chance on a revived. Thirty four year old rider. And that's why I went to world superbike where where age doesn't seem to matter as much in world superbike as long as you're a bigger Roger you can handle that bike age doesn't seem to make as much of a difference in guys like Max Biaggi and Carlos Cheka are perfect examples of that. And then final question for Chris e what would Alvar Oba have done had he been on a factory do Qadi mortgagee GP bike this year. Yeah. I'm honestly, not sure. Based on what we saw his one shot on that factory. Bike in Australia last year. I think he could escort a couple of podiums, but not really more than a couple. I mean, remember his last podium was in two thousand fourteen and that's why do khadi were really unwilling to take chance of putting him on the factory bike if Danilo pitcher cheese scores more than two podiums this year. I think he would have matched potentially whatev- are Batista would have done because you're still talking about a much different type of bike in a much different type of competitor. He would have been going up against weekend and week out. And so yeah, I think he would have done. Okay. But I don't think he would have been spectacular on the factory do Coty one way or the other though. It's awesome to see him land in the spot where he does feel comfortable..

"But meanwhile, the ones that they were copying and Yamaha Coty they both went and drastically different directions. So I'll say it again, I can't wait to get to Qatar to see how exactly it all plays out. Whether everybody. Gravitates towards these new Yamaha Takada design since they seem to be the leaders in innovation or am whether to Qadi and Yamaha we're gonna push the boundaries even further or if they're going to be okay having everybody see what they're doing. And then maybe mimic that when we get to the final test me. I'll have a lot of time to do it. They got a week and a half if they want to modify their ferrings and copy what those guys are doing. Now. One of the teams that showed up with the hostile England on the bike with KTM. And that was just one they bearable truckload of parts. In fact, a literal truckload of parts that they reportedly brought out to this test. It was a lot like we heard about in Valencia and harass their apparently wasn't entire shipping container of new stuff from the factory that they send long to try out including that wing. That's by far the largest one we've ever seen on a KTM mo- GP bike. What else did those guys have up their sleeve unit? They brought it the engines they had a new exhaust. They had tons of carbon fibre bits, including a new swing, arm and. New front suspension anything to try and make a difference. And it at least started to make a difference. Although you Hans Arcos improvement may have been a MS much product of getting more comfortable on the bike than it was any particular breakthrough technically and he kinda lost it on the third day. He looked like he was gaining momentum in the middle of this test. And then it kind of faded on him a little bit at the end. And he was still very kind of standoffish about where he thought the bike was going in his interview after the test. So I'm still not quite sure he's convinced any certainly doesn't seem as enthusiastic as he was when he signed on with KTM. But I do think that they made at least a step in the right direction. I think that by Qatar. They can't keep doing this truckload apart stuff. I mean, I think by Qatar. They've got to have some sort of formula that everybody agrees on for the bike and just go with it because we talked about this all the way back after a Valencian harass that. You can get into this paralysis of analysis where you've got so many parts that you're testing and you're trying and you're weighing in the siding and that rhymed a little bit. And I didn't mean for it to. And you can get into this gray area where you never you. Either get lost because one party leads to another leads to another and you go down this road and things are going wrong. And you're not quite sure why because you've changed too many things or you get stuck ilize ING part after part after part that nobody ever says, hey, we need to sit down and pick the right combination and move on. And so you're endlessly developing as opposed to tweaking and getting the bike ready..

"The circuit of the Americas, which is no small feat on top of that. They're planning eighty five thousand seats. You don't build a facility like that. If you're not planning on trying to get a Formula one and or a mortgage EP race, the only issue then would be getting the race itself. Talked about the community at the beginning of the show there apparently back on track for twenty twenty at least to have the track completed then you've got poor mouth thinking of upgrading tossing their hat in the ring. Now, the Philippines, and this track has target date of twenty twenty one for being done. Now, there's only room for one of those tracks currently because we're at nineteen races Dorna said they will go up to twenty but the others aren't necessarily done once one of those three places gets that twentieth round because they could pry away race from a place like Spain or Italy. That has multiple races. What's gonna happen and who's going to get the race? And you know as anybody gonna lose race. Well, I don't know. But the one thing I can say is that it's a fantastic sign for modo GP that places don't just wanna race. They're willing to sink tons of cash in the new facilities to get one. It's a great sign for the sport as a whole that it's very healthy when places are fighting to have your series come. There doesn't hurt that. It's a heck of a lot cheaper to host emoji p race than it is to host a Formula one race. All right. So before we get to my top ten from Sapang last thing. Mo- GP made a couple of really cool announcements this week honoring some legends of the sport number one. When the series gets to circuit of the Americas in Texas year MotoGP will officially retire. Nicky Hayden's number sixty nine from competition. Both as a tribute to his championship and his legacy in the sport. That's an awesome. Awesome honor to get it's only the sixth. Number ever removed or retired from competition and the premier class the others show until his Ahwaz number forty eight Marco semen Shelley's number fifty eight Daijiro Couto's number seventy four then Kevin Schwantz is thirty four in Loris Capirossi, sixty five a great great honor for NICKY Hayden. That's awesome to see motor GP do that. And they'll also be welcoming Stefan dearth linger two-time fifty in two time ABC champ as well as fellow four time champ and team owner. Hey, asked bar Martinez into the mo- GP hall of fame this year different girl at Saxon ring and s bar in Valencia..

"And he even he reaches his point where he's like I better shut up because I'm just going to hurt my chances. But now that he's in another series in that ship has sailed when it comes to world championship bracing for the time. Being reading said that, hey, I'm a bit tired of the number of riders that are paying for their spot on the grid and not just a MO GP, but in Motoo Amodeo three as well. And he implied that the practice is. So common right now that some teams are taking advantage of it, even if they don't need to he said there are teams out there that already have a sponsor, and this is his exact quote, actually said, quote, even if teams have a budget, and by that he means, you know, already have the money to go racing. Even if the teams have the budget, they're still charging riders that need the pay they can because people will pay. But then you're not getting the best of the best end of quote now. Obviously the suggestion there is that he couldn't find a spot emoji P for two thousand nineteen because of this practice. I believe that now obviously not when it comes to apprecia- because Andrea known as in pay. Paying for that seat? Am reading lost it because of a lack of overall performance, but I'm pretty certain that the reason that he couldn't pick up one of the final remaining bikes in the garage is because he wasn't bringing a sponsor or he wasn't willing to put his own money on the table and the shocking part about this though is that he said, it's also the reason why he's not Emoto to this year, and he decided to go back to be SP because the only Motoo rides. He could find they were asking for them to pay money or to bring a sponsor his response quote on never ride for free because it's my job. And I definitely ain't gonna pay and in he went on to say and ain't gonna pay two hundred thousand or three hundred thousand to ride for a season or two seasons. It's ludicrous. It's insane. But there's someone that will come along. And do it. And I mean think about that for a second two to three hundred thousand assuming euros or pounds for Emoto to rive versus Nur to. Let's assume that that's for two seasons that if Scott reading have wanted to that he could have leased a spot on a Moto two team for the next two years for say three hundred thousand euros. Danilo Petrosky who is writing the factory do khadi this year when he was at pre MacIntosh eighteen made three hundred thousand euros. And there is a very very good chance that that's all he's making to be a factory do khadi rider in two thousand nineteen or very little more than that. So even Danilo Patricia who is on a factory do khadi. This year is a factory rider emoji p he would have had to have given up his entire salary from two thousand eighteen just for two seasons on what's very likely a mediocre motorbike. Now, if that's the case, and I don't see any reason why reading would be lying about this. I mean, he just went through this whole process. I'm assuming is probably pretty darn close to the real numbers. If that's the case writings, right? It is insane. And this is something we've talked about before on the show. We all know that paying for rods is something that happens on a regular. Basis racing in an ideal world, it wouldn't. I mean, everything would be based on performance or merit. But that's not how it works is it wrong. Yeah. Pretty much. I mean, I always think about it this way if we were talking about a top level professional baseball team or basketball team in the United States or football team. American international, your choice doesn't matter which and you're watching your favorite team.

"The most sophisticated racing bike in the world over the course of an actual race weekend was unsurprisingly slow and also unsurprisingly he got in a lot of people's way over the course of the weekend that lead to something that's never happened before that I know of the rider's getting together after the race and petitioning mo- GP eventually pawn some was removed from that ride. Whether he wanted to go or not both crushing his opportunity to get the motor peaks -perience and really get the right of a lifetime and also crushing his desire to continue working towards getting to the premier class as a career goal. It was both unprecedented and a huge huge disappointment. And it's not his fault. It's not the riders fault. It's all eventually is fault. They should have never put that kid in that position. But of. Course, even though we don't like to think about it. And remember it it definitely created a lot of drama in the two thousand eighteen season. Speaking of forgetting things our final nominee in the category. Mark fetus versus their own team manager, you know with all of the other crease in this season. Who remembers what happened with Mark v and that whole debacle? You know, it seems like a year ago, but it was indeed in two thousand eighteen and we still don't know all of the specifics about this. But near the beginning of the season, the see-saw the back and forth stories started a rumor had that team manager Michael Barr. Lemme had been shown his walking papers right around Austin the US round which he denied at the time. And then the next round he was back, and then he was gone again. And then owner Mark Vander Straten said he wasn't out. And then that he was and that he was taking money then Bartholomee said, hey, I wasn't taking anything and he said at any statement on the team's website despite the. That he didn't work for him anymore. Then there was going to be a lawsuit. Then Bartholomee said in another statement on the website for the team. He didn't work for that. There wasn't going to be a lawsuit that everything had been cleared up. And then there was going to be a lawsuit again, and in the end Barth alumnae and Vander straightens lawyers got together Bartholomew's contract was terminated. And the team didn't apparently pursue any further litigation probably in exchange for the password to the website. So they could finally lock as a countdown prevent him from putting up anymore messages. You know, who knows if he took any money or not was that confusing, by the way, all right in because I was just as confused as you were. And I was actually the one I actually jotted it all out still found a confusing who knows if Bartholomew took any money or not. But it's widely believed that a lot of the teams contracts were signed by Bartholomee and his company as opposed to sign by Mark VS, and that put them in a incredibly difficult position where they eventually had to announce. They were going to fold their motor GP operations at the end of the year. So those are the nominees. There was a lot. There was a ton of drama in two thousand eighteen my gosh. So who do you pick, you know, an entire Motegi race getting cancelled or entire round of the world championship getting cancelled Marc Marquez, losing his mind Ramona, fanatic losing his sanity, I'm going to actually go even though there are some really really good ones there, and you could argue any of them they in fact, you can on Facebook Facebook dot com slash Motari dot net. But I'm going to go.

"And that's a lot easier said than done dusty also mentioned that this was his first full season watching mo- GP. So congratulations on that. And. He's thinking of paying a little bit more attention now to Motoo motive three Amodeo next year. And I said, you should totally do it. I mean, it's hard. I admit it's hard to keep track of all of the talent coming and going from the lower classes, especially motive three. But even if you don't focus on the individual riders. I mean, just motor three alone. The racing is so awesome 'em with Chen on shoe coming on into the series of season. Who knows what we're going to win. It's, but I can guarantee you that there will be lots and lots of races that come down to the final turn to, you know, less than a tenth of a second separating the top three across the finish line. And so even if you're not quite sure who you're rooting for or not quite sure who's who you'll get used to it. And in the meantime, you're going to see some fantastic racing. And if you don't watch Motoo for any other reason, just watch it for the sound. I mean, thirty or more triumph triples, howling them the term one that's going to be worth it all by itself. And disclaimer there I do. Do have a triumph triple. So. I'm a little bit biased. But it's going to sound awesome. Even if I did no one. Then dusty since you do video pass to two ideas for the off season on either go back and watch the two thousand eighteen Motoo mode with three seasons or would I like to do with video pass in the offseason is go back and watch pass MotoGP since if you wanna gold school, you can head back to the days of you'll make do and Kevin Schwantz, but sincere Marquez fan if you haven't seen those races yet, maybe go back to two thousand thirteen two thousand fourteen when Mark burst onto the scene and just absolutely dominated as Mark van you're bound to enjoy those races or you could actually go to two thousand fifteen watch out Sapang race. That would be a lot of fun. You might not like the outcome of that one as much though more like the rest of us who is shocked to see KTM land on the podium to wrap up the two thousand eighteen season. But also like most of us Morton is excited for the started two thousand nineteen and you know, once we get done with our discussion of the Valencia tests in the second half of the show, be sure to let me know what your initial impressions were of the tests on the Facebook page who you? Thought really, well, if there was anybody who jumped out to you, you might not agree with my opinion, or you might not have seen it at all. But if you go back and watch any of it and tell me what you think, but this year more than I agree with you. I'm really excited for two thousand nineteen as well because even more so than two thousand seventeen back then obviously we had four. Hey, Lorenza moving to do khadi. We have maverick fan y'all going over to Yamaha. And those were the two big stories and beyond that there wasn't a whole lot going on. I mean, yeah. Andrea donated Suzuki, I was really excited about it on many people many other people were on. But this season has so much going on not only with rider changes from Lorenzo and Zarko all the way down to you know, some of the the less famous writers. But in addition to that, we've got you know, manufacturer changes, we've got team changes. We've got the electron rules. So there's so much there that I think makes this preseason a lot more interesting than even what we saw a couple of years ago, and that's not to take anything away from the two thousand seventeen preseason. It was fascinating. Because almost everyone myself included. I thought the maverick Venezuela's from those test sessions was going to run away with the championship. And of course, we all know how that turned out which was not very well at all. So the two thousand seventeen preseason was pretty interesting, but me and this year, there's just so much going on..

"Maybe it was due to something on the bike. And maybe if Valentino had stayed on the bike. There was no chance that he would have won one way or the other. But either way no matter what your opinion is my position this weekend going into Balenciaga is that the doctor has something extra approve based on what happened in Subang. Do you agree? Do you think that the motivation of trying to erase the idea, you know, that Mark got into his head or that? He couldn't hold off Marquez. Do you think that that's going to help? Him this weekend. Do you think it's going to hurt him? Or do you think it's really neither here nor there? I mean, because we all know the Valentino is a guy who loves to have a rivalry. He loves to have that extra motivation. And I don't know if wrecking out while leading the races enough because it's not the same as you know, when those guys went at it in two thousand fifteen minutes, a bang, but I still think that maybe just maybe Valentino is hearing all those comments here. He here's the he listens to the show, obviously. And here's us talking about. And he thinks you know, I'm gonna show everybody. I'm going to go out there, and I'm gonna beat Marc Marquez at his own game at his own track. Now, that's a big ask. I don't know if that's really what he can do or not. But do you think that's extra motivation for him? Because I think it might be extra motivation heading into this weekend, especially knowing that has very little to lose by going after Mark. I'm now Damon actually moved away from the tired debate in favor of Mark simply being more nations rider than Valentino. And that's why if they both stayed on the bike. Was kind of inevitable that Mark was gonna win. And I know that sounds a bit trivial. But it's a real thing. I mean, Mark Mark has has yet to have a really bad crash where he's had an injury or had to sit out one or more rounds. And we all know that valet has had no serious injury multiple times. And while none of these guys I would never accuse any mo- GP rider being afraid of anything. I definitely do think that riders that have crossed that line into a serious injury have a little bit better picture of their own mortality, maybe just a tiny bit. But a little bit better picture of their own mortality than those riders. Who haven't had the big wreck yet? And I think it does make a difference. You know, a slight difference for sure, but emoji peed. That's all it takes. I mean, it's the slightest of differences it's up rates the guy who wins on any given week from the guys who finished second or third or the champion from you know, the contenders who couldn't quite make it there. And you know, that's why when Damon says, hey, if this had been thirty year old Rossi we would. A much different story in the Malaysian GP. I agree because Rossi ten years ago would have definitely been willing to risk a lot more than the Rossi today. And now don't get mad at me VR Forty-six fans because the negative way I've seen it in the realistic way..
