"Driven by politics or by science There may be how we keep track of our lives from here on out What do you think the political effects of that impatience will be And through it all there's been Bloomberg We begin on Capitol Hill the most accurate business world and healthcare news before and after The fundamentals do not justify this price action Bloomberg radio the Bloomberg business app and Bloomberg radio dot com Bloomberg the world is listening It's a huge day for markets equities and bonds the vigilantes are alive in the bond market The spillover into the equity market S&P 500 done 1% now but then NASDAQ grind zero when you reevaluate your growth to value proposition out of growth maybe it's too early to call it into value but what you've got is Ned Davis saying it's about the speed of this cycle as the rates market prices in 7 rate hikes use of some for Bernstein say buy equities despite the rise in use because the real yield can rise further Mizuho say look they're not seeing a sustained meltdown at the moment but there is definitely a shakedown in equities Absolutely It's been accelerating to the downside It is moments like these were consensus get splintered and you've seen a lot of different perspective on key issues here as we try and grapple with these potential 7 rate hikes from the fed in 2022 at least as priced by the swap markets BNP Paribas is cut their S&P 500 year round target to 4900 because of that outlook The market's life team has been doing some thinking about the jump and yields right Because this massive jump in your two year yields and I'll see the biggest one day move since 2009 And they're saying that the S&P 500 is still close to nearly 300 points above the January low And that gives U.S. yields actually the green light to push even higher And if equities are going to start to set off more aggressively money could move quickly into bonds again and it would limit the upside in yields What was the two way street isn't it It is indeed what the market is grappling with is bullard lit the fire under a 50 basis point hike for March Martin Malone has just been with us saying that that might not be such a huge shock it's actually what comes next Now for the dollar what you've got here is it rolled.

"Bloomberg the world is listening Markets are on the move I want to jump in with you straight into the price action here on the S&P 500 mini NASDAQ futures down by as much as 1% as the market not just deals with the hot inflation data the hottest in about four decades but also with the swap markets now pricing in 7 25 basis point moves in 2022 There's this thinking how this is going to affect risk assets probably Mizuho doesn't yet see a sustained meltdown in risk assets and BNP Paribas on the other side of that they've actually cut their year on target to $4900 I think it just depends on the pace of these hikes when they come if you get a 50 basis point hackers Martin Malone just said to us now is a possibility he's channeling his inner 1994 Bond hike moves But the stock markets alpha Bernstein say look you can buy these equities Because real yields still remains negative This is the bond market We've just had Martin from alpha books saying to give already had this huge move in the bond market He says you can see another hundred basis points on ten year government bond yields years of this futures cash is closed we're above 2% so that is the risk Another hundred basis points in the very very near term Yeah absolutely And the dollar on the move as well getting charged up higher by the latest set of headlines That's of course affecting some of the pairs the Aussie dollar and the kiwi in particular this is Bloomberg.

"This has been a long awaited product launch for robin hood the trading startup now allowing people to hold their own bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in. What's known as a wallet. It had been appointed contention on social media as well. Robinhood users have complained that yes they had exposure prices but not ownership over the assets. Themselves i sat down with robin hoods chief product officer on tech check earlier. She told me that the slow rollout was intentionally really. Need the right safeguards in place before they could debut this. And it's not launching right away to start. Robin hood is rolling this out for a select group of users and then soliciting feedback along. The way is of course is the latest move for robin hood of the crypto space becomes increasingly important for the company's top line. We had in the most recent quarter crypto accounting for more than half of transaction based revenue. That was up from just seventeen seventeen percent in the first quarter and just three percent the same time. Last year in today's announcement also sets up some more competition. Space crypto wallets had been a huge differentiator for some of the early movers. Like coin base of course and gemini robin hood shares up more than ten percent on that news today. Melissa back to kate forgive ignorance on this and and crypto wallets. But how did robin hood users before when they were in. When they're trading crypto. How do they hold their crypto. Do they actually have to move it off the platform to separate custody yes. They didn't hold the keys. There was this slogan online. If it's not your key. It's not your crypto. So they really were buying sort of derivatives of crypto. They didn't actually hold it themselves so they sort of had exposure to the prices. They didn't actually hold the keys to their own wallet. Which yes in some ways. You want the ownership over and you want the ability to potentially transfer it off. Hold it in something like cold storage. Which is way to to hold it on a hard drive off of an exchange. It's helpful but there's other people that might say they don't necessarily want the keys. They don't want the responsibility so it's unclear how many people might have just been sort of vocal minority who were calling for this but it was definitely getting traction and it seems like they're not catching up with coin base. They have had that product at the ability for people to hold their own cryptocurrency. Really from the gecko all right kate. Thanks kate rooney. Our next guest says robin hood is better position to win the wallet wars. Let's bring in dandala. He covers both robin hood and coin. Base at mizuho. You say robin hood clear winner. Why is that look. Thanks for having me on the show..

"Five is just insurance as we talked about a week or maybe two weeks ago with that reddit post that seemed to have some insight on the development of both subscription and the insurance product. It seems like there has been some good progress. There i think with the fasd subscription tussles. Probably got that already to go technically. They're just waiting for the best time to release that in terms of the financials and how it fits with the shift. Over to tesla vision. Moving radar and the fasd beta expansion. I think they're just trying to balance those things out. I do think that has potential to be transformative. In how tussles business model is viewed but as noted in the last conference call. There is a little bit of a trade off because that's upfront revenue less upfront. Gross profit for tesla so while the market tends to love margin software as a service subscriptions which of course it should. It might take some time for that to get sorted out the financials and for the impact to be fully understood as for insurance. I don't really see that. As a catalyst for this year. I think long term i am excited about the prospects that tesla has in that space and the ability to lower the total cost of ownership and more importantly cost effectively ensure a tesla network ride-sharing fleets in the future. So i'm not trying to diminish that. I just don't see it as a big factor for the financials or the stock this year. So those are the factors for tesla's stock discussed by morgan stanley. Outmost strongly agree with the importance. This year of china numbers the capacity expansion mentioned and of course my favorite the demonstration of operating leverage. I would not agree on bitcoin. New model expansion with the exception of Progress or tesla as a battery supplier and be a little bit in the middle on a subscription and insurance. In addition to those items that i agree with i would just again highlight the importance of earning back that credibility which is done by hitting disclose timelines for fasd hitting timelines on gabriel lynn and texas. Of course forty six eighty battery production and cyber truck. Unfortunately i don't have a ton of confidence that tesla's going to be able to meet or exceed those timelines on any of those which is okay with me because i understand that tussles timelines are aggressive. That might actually result in the most progress over time but aggressive timelines are not how you win the psychological battlefield that is the stock market again as a long term investor. That is something that i'm okay with. I would not want tesla optimizing for anything other than the best and fastest long-term progress right. Spent more time on that than i expected to. So let's move on here. We do have an updated. No here quickly from zoo remember. They're relatively new to covering tesla. Just picking up coverage this year. Today they have reiterated their by rating on tesla. And they're eight hundred twenty dollars base case price target. I wanted to at least mention it..

"I think that has degraded a lot of the credibility that tesla and the on must get built up over the last couple of years specifically with the early launch the model y and the success starting gigafactory shanghai vessel for a good period. There was kind of consistently laying positive surprise on top of positive surprise and when that happens that behaviour gets projected forward. And we really haven't seen as much of that this year. It's not really a knock on tesla they're still making tremendous progress but setting aside probably shanghai model y which has been phenomenal. Were just coming off. This pretty significant delay on the refresh model as an ex. We've got a lot of uncertainty remaining around the forty six eighty timeline. Berlin continues to be a question mark with all the bureaucracy there. Texas seems to be going fairly well but again some uncertainty and if you're not following at super closely it'd be fair to wonder about the progress especially given some of these other things then of course on top all those other things you've got the rotation out of growth stocks you've got these other macro challenges like the semiconductor shortages supply chain challenges that can lead to logistic challenges high raw materials. Prices pretty decent amount of headwinds so even with the rosiest of glasses at minimum. This has been more of a mixed bag situation for tesla so far this year than what we saw last year for example anyway aside from china and bitcoin as i mentioned jonas here is presenting quote a few thoughts about what we believe can compete for investor attention on the tussle story from here through year end most of which are non china developments and quote and he kicks the list of five off with number one capacity expansion primarily outside of china. This i would agree with as i mentioned giga texas giggled berlin. Sort of big question marks right now and both kind of house. The larger question of forty six eighty better production as well under this point. Jonas does also note that it's really difficult to have high operating margins manufacturing in california tesla so far has been able to do that so when gigi texas comes online. When berlin comes online jonas. Thanks those will help. Better demonstrate tests operating leverage which i fully agree with. I continue to believe that's extremely undervalued appreciated even before berlin and texas. I think shanghai continues to be unappreciated from that aspect. That's been hidden or diminished to some extent so far as production has ramped up other factors as well and i think that starts to become a lot more clear in q two but especially as we had an accused three so outta greek past the expansion and a sub point there on operating margins. I think huge huge factors for tesla. The rest of the year is i can point here is new model expansion beyond sx three and y noting the cyber truck a more compact vehicle potentially multi. Purpose vehicle. I don't expect much on that front this year except for obviously potentially cyber stuff that i've said i think that is a little bit delayed but what is particularly found interesting about the section. Was jonas writing quote. Our discussions with investors reveal a bit of a blind spot on the potential segment expansion and quote. I that's one of the biggest head scratchers for tussle bowls of like. How do you not see where this is heading. But that should represent significant remaining upside in the stock then and also shouldn't be too surprising given the fact that the current analysts consensus estimate for twenty twenty five..

Let's also talk about the I which cut yesterday as well which was widely expected. But what was the change? I guess in terms of the market was the change in this stance. What did you read into that? I think that came as a little bit of a surprise for such an explicit shift from neutral to accommodate those really hit lines. Seventy five basis point community rate cuts to the RBI shifting to an accommodative policy stone suggested, the appropriate primed from for more rate cuts. We can beat this one is a benign inflation environment as, as global trade, risk seeping into compounding. The downton in disgrace, I think it could be faltering an environmental further rate cuts, but equally importantly, the RBI should probably property concentrate on the transmission of these cuts. Given. Constrain bike deficit, his new when we continue the conversation. I wanna get your sense.

"I think ahead you beaten, some of these numbers. So we had stand competition between Mizuho, you're seeing these coming in modal. Yeah. I know. But you know, what these people I've seen you get getting your numbers from the health and wellness coaches as well. So it's a ganging up on me over. That's right. That's right. And we win. So we had this is kind of weird. We had Stanley lose sixty two pounds in forty two days. I'm kind of confused as to why he did forty two days. But it really doesn't matter sixty two pounds in forty two days. Now, this gentleman is a priest. So he wears like, the full priest outfit or there's a name for it. Right. I don't know what it's called. Anyway. So I keep laughing at him guessing fund a lot of guests. So I keep laughing every time he comes into the office. Because I I want to know when he's getting a new uniform because is really uniform for him. He wears it every day. Right. And he's like, well, I'm not done yet. He's like I got to do another round. I mean, he he definitely had a bunch of six pounds. You gotta change your change. Get a new FM. And he said, no he said, I'm not done yet. I'm gonna keep that's and it's actually really interesting because when he comes he goes to our Clifton office, and he. I guess his mom lives right in the area. And she's a fairly elderly lady at this point. Because he's also I believe either in his fifties early sixties. And so he says that it's such a pleasure for him. He comes in every ten to fourteen days to the office. And then he goes to visit his mom, and he has dinner with her and stuff and. Yeah. And he says that his mom just can't believe this transformation that's taking place because every every ten to fourteen days, he just keeps getting smaller and smaller and smaller and she keeps saying him. What is going on with you? Yeah. Well, she's so used to him being big. He's a big guy now and she's used to him being like big all the time. And all of a sudden he's shrinking, and I think that's a really nice thing. We had Lucy who and I don't know by the way how much weight she lost. But I'm gonna take a little bit of a gas because she's down five sizes and forty days female to be down. Five sizes. That's more than losing a human being. That's like losing, maybe even two children almost. Sizes Goto sizes go by twos. And it depends on the on the brand manufacturer that you're buying so certain brands and certain manufacturers, we'll go by ones and certain ones go by twos. But at the end of the day assizes size, whether it goes down by one or two it's considered one size because that's how they size clothing. So it doesn't really make a difference. So let's say five units of sizes lost thirty days. So that's probably more than let's say guy. Let's say guy going from thirty eight to thirty two. Yes, that's about equivalent. It's probably about equal. But for a female, you know, I mean, you're almost like shopping in the teenage section if you're down five sizes them, I don't think she started really really tremendously high number. So I can safely say that. We had another really great story. We had a breast cancer survivor who. Did our program, and we have we actually see quite a bit of patience after after having cancer and survived the chemo and the radiation. Because. Right there. So so toxic. And they really really. What's the word? They put so much garbage into your body while trying to get you healthy. They gotta kill right. They have to kill the cancer. But in the meantime, they're also killing a lot of other things in your body. Make you survive. Right. So what's great is that she had her blood work done a couple of months after doing our program and both of her on colleges. Couldn't believe how amazing her blood work results were and these are these guys from Sloan Kettering, it's not like, you know, some. Bitsy hospital, and they were really really pleased. And we're asking her, you know, what the program was. And she told him all about nj diet, and they were really just pleased with her results. And I think that's really awesome. And I'm really proud of her. And I think again, this is couple of months after she did the program to all the things have kinda settled in her body's hormones have been regulated. So I think this is really important. I love him. When patients go and get blood work done with our program, and then repeat it again, a couple of months later, right and results actually just keep improving which is really wonderful. Well, that's what the whole thing's about. Right. It's about we're able to use the hair saliva bioenergetics testing that we use the bloodwork assessment that we used DNA assessment that we use and give people tools not only how to help them how to personalize supplements. And personalize everything for them for the forty days of the program to get the amazing results. But then use all that information going forward. So you know, what the DNA results that show ideal things like thing. Ideal diet type things like how to exercise, you know. So you're not spinning your wheels at the gym. So tells you which exercise more beneficial for you we look at. Vitamins that are that you should have to Mayes once that not may not necessarily need to to us. We look at other metabolic health factor. So we're looking at almost fifty different metabolic health factors for each individual to help them not only keep weight off. But also how to stay healthy as possible going forward. And so when you combine all that. Yeah. I mean, the whole process gets your body into this fat-burning zone when you're able to detoxify the body and. Because we're able to get the body into that second phase of liver detoxification where you're getting rid of toxins through fats excreting through the feces through urine, you're burning it for fuel. You're getting you're getting those toxins into a compound that your body can then get rid of it. And and either excreted or burn for burn for energy. So we're able to reroute where your buys using fuel. You're burning thousands of calories of that unwanted toxic fat for fuel for the forty days of the program, which is what also gives you a ton of energy a ton of energy and sleep people are sleeping, great and do much better. And the personalization is the whole key to the whole process. And so we had Steve came in. And when he came in a lot of times, people don't talk about all their health problems in general. So we have things marked off. But it's great because he'd lost less thirty eight pounds in forty days. And when he first came in we. Did the personalization? We did the hair and saliva testing by energetic scans the bloodwork assessment DNA testing, we gave him the personalized supplements for hypothetical support and heart support guy Las thirty eight pounds in forty days. So that's tremendous. And he he actually he left me a voicemail at the office saying he wanted to tell me something you want to send it in an Email and writing or anything, so I call them up. And he says everything is functioning better. What do you mean? He goes everything is functioning better. He says he had issues with e with rectal dysfunction before he started the program lost all that weight. And he says everything is just going to squalid kept saying everything's functioning better. Everything's going great. Everything's working same guy that recently went through a divorce and couldn't have been happier because his divorce was so toxic. And literally it was at the same person. I think it may have been the same. I think it may have been the same person but gave himself a gift during his divorce proceedings was this program, and basically cannot can't get enough of whatever he's got going on. Because I think the divorce is finalized. We had we had a couple of we actually had a couple of patients doing this this week or the past two weeks for some reason divorces like in the air. It's really weird. So all it is. But anyway, so yes, so the erectile dysfunction is gone and everything's working better. So congratulations to him, and I'm very happy for that. And not just the thirty eight pounds, which is the improvement of health all around people don't realize when you have the belly sitting. Out front like that. There's only one way to get blood supply down down into those areas of there's only so much room there. So. That's why when.

"What led to the abrupt end to the Hanoi. Summit. All the details now is at Baxter brings us global news in the Bloomberg nine sixty San Francisco newsroom, I'm interested in this one for sure. Oh, yeah. Well, it it almost became a soap opera today. It's calmed down a little bit now. Kathleen, you are right though. The issue sanction relief these AVI, what is denuclearization US president? Donald Trump went. I. They wanted the sanctions lifted in their entirety, and we couldn't do that sanctions in their entirety. But then an extraordinarily rare occurrence North Korea's foreign minister Riyanto held a news conference through a translator saying that's not what happened. That's not true won't be proposed was not the removal of all sanctions, but they're partial removal grease saying they're prepared to start dismantling facilities in exchange for partial sanction removal. This proposal was the biggest skinny as we can take over the prison stake in relation to the current level of confidence between the DVR and the United States saying it is a process of gaining trust the process KCNA now though, saying Kim Jong UN has vowed to meet again with President Trump. But former Defense Secretary William William Cohen says these things take preparation that Mr. Trump has done to give him legitimacy. So the next time. Time. He says find out I what's going on the North Koreans believe about denuclearization. What do we expect out of really going through all of the parts to an agreement in advance before the two big leaders such of the country's shake hands and say, we got a deal now Kim is still in Vietnam meeting with leaders, Mr. Trump hopped on Air Force, One stop in Alaska, and he's touting the US military strength. You know, the best way to keep America safe is to keep America, strong merica does not see conflict. He says, but if we're forced to defend ourselves, we'll fight and we will win an overwhelming fashion. US secretary of state Mike Pompeo says he's going to discuss US concerns about Chinese actions to threaten freedom of navigation and disputed South China Sea in the Philippines, and India using Pakistan of using it US made f sixteen fighter jets in its raid in Kashmir in San Francisco. I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg. Bryan, sir. All right. Ed. Thanks. Very much nine minutes here past the hour. Just to flash on the terminal that barrack is said to have no intention of raising its bid for new Motte, and it's making sort of a hostile bid there. We'll follow that story for you just looking at the off-shore Chinese currency now just at six point six nine eight seven against the US dollar the onshore very close to that same level. So almost parody there. This new garage within the head of economics and strategy at Mizuho Bank joins us. Now. We're getting a little closer, it seems if you listen to Larry cudlow on a US China deal part of that will be some sort of mechanism on the currency. What might a mechanism look like on the currency Vishnu? That's a good question in ninety one. That's going to be a moving target. Himself pointed out, I think maybe their hopes that China would report on it. You know, foreign exchange yourself. Movements in entails foreign exchange. Budgets, and so on and so forth. But I think the the starting point would be participate because of agreement or disagreement on on what they. And whether it's against the US dollar on a created basis. I think that the real high bar even on something that's gonna find his currencies is to stop with things such as we know what the parameters are an invented starting point. Is this new if it was twenty or thirty years ago when the Chinese cooler Lee, pegged their currency to the dollar, and it was clearly part of their strategy to boost their exports. I could see doing what hasn't been all along. You know, they were never called currency manipulator on all fronts. But now, this is a very different time in history. They're trying to move towards consumption, the People's Bank of China is trying to have a war flex books. Change rate. It seems to be that's the hard part Burr supposed to be more flexible. We're trying to do that. But you want us to agree to keep our currency to certain level. That is true entirely. And in fact, I think that conundrum is only going to be more accentuate ethical because you know, even along the treasury's own definition of a manipulator declining Carnac concept does not I don't even what China is doing. And in fact, I think bad day some meeting of minds encouraging is that I think even in Beijing one. Be that doesn't mean it's not susceptible to sudden together. Okay. Granddad? Yeah. We'll talk some more Vishnu Rothen is with us from Mizuho Bank little bit of a pause in the rally inequities in the United States..

"You heard that from Anne Marie consumer spending dropped in December the fastest clip in a long time. Monica. Are we seeing the reality of Brexit? I suppose intransigence really play on the consumer. Absolutely. An all parts of the economy, really, consumer investment, business uncertainty and the longer this drags out. The more frustrating and the greater impact it will have on the economy. We've seen a Brian down of economic activity is broad-based frustration outside politics that sooner or later this impulse has to house to end. And I think that really remains the critical point you wouldn't want to an outcome where this continues indefinitely and after getting returns to the the question of do we return to new fresh elections or a second referendum? Recent polls ahead of this parliamentary vote showed that the feeling outside the largest support outside politics was that if the steel didn't pass we should have a second referendum, and I think that pressure will build. On the street as well. The folks at Mizuho say that basically traders are dismissing the possibility of the prime minister losing a confidence vote later Wednesday. Monica.
