"Other milk spots effect and I and if you're just wasting the taxpayers money a lawyer as a my lawyers all Harvard man I mean those mafia men are not Harvard Mun. Everybody in this movie is putting on airs in some way even marry. Monroe is going to be putting on airs as a Vassar girl so at this millionaire we'll think she can blend in with well. It's interesting how we are really looking at class right. We all these characters are floating through you different levels and changing to be accepted by wherever they are and it also I think comments on something that we all do which is like we all are chameleons aliens to a certain extent when you get into a situation you kind of just want to not rock the boat and I and I do like that in those kind of brilliant observations are subtle observations nations about that. Make this film again a lot more impressive than what follows this film or this genre film but as we are talking about Marilyn the Monroe. Let's get into the ridiculousness. That's going on here. She's two to three hours late. Every day. You know she has to read her lines offer of cards so much so that billy wilder is like putting her lines in a drawer so she can read them but she would forget which droid order open so just puts it in all the drawers you know she takes forty-seven takes a say. It's me sugar correctly. She's sugar. It's me or it's sugar me you you know where the line Where's the bourbon she needed fifty nine takes. She is just kind of a nightmare and maybe it is because that she is psychologically fragile. Maybe it's because her husband is hanging around Strasbourg's their policies. They're basically also everybody's. Everybody's she's at that point in your everybody wants a piece of you and everybody's like. I'm the only one you can trust here for a people pleaser. Maryland had to be by design because because show sex about she lived her whole life worried that her foster parents whoever they were at that moment that month we're gonNA kick her out for something that she didn't do so. She just lived her life. In Fear Era of making anybody matter so here she is on a set with all of these people who position themselves as her masters and she's losing her mind because they all want different things with that all being said the performance she turns in is pretty fucking good like it's you know it doesn't feel stilted. It doesn't feel weird and I've watched that clip about gentlemen prefer blondes with you. I like her for her. Performance is so subtle and small reminds me of how we saw her in all about eve way back in the day like she is is smart and a good performance. I think the way I always view her and I think about her. Is The you know singing happy birthday. Mr President like this kind kind of blonde bombshell but she's kind of a good actress avenue. She reminds me of my favorite parts. Feel for guarantees field vigor gary. I think channels I'm too sexy for this modern world. I'm almost a cartoon exaggeration of a perfect woman and I'm going to make this that I am in control of the joke in that the joke is not spilled upon me and I will say seeing her behind the scenes with other women you get to see one side of her and then you get to see the other side of her when she's with the air to the shelf fortune origin which I think is a fun dichotomy for her too. I think that that's a really fun way of kind of turning this attitude that she has on its head. It's although can I say uh-huh girl to girl as Jack Lemons Daphne Maryland kind of a lousy friend oh I mean she's just like the friend you have have. WHO's a little bit of a drag who just wants to talk about her ex boyfriend's all the time like? I have had that friend sort of like all right. Let's pour the Bourbon. I guess we have to drink two bottles of wine and hear her moan about her ex. Again doesn't ask a lot of questions to them. No not at all I also kind of surprised at how from the business side of it Maryland comes into this film and and has a couple of smart demands. She only signs on after they give her ten percent of the gross this movie so she is. She's not somebody that the system is taking advantage of yes. She is in a life where people are taking advantage of her but she's making look good deals and that's something that is very rare in Hollywood people get eaten up and spit it out but she is at least in control of that knowing what she brings to a picture and so much so that you know I think is movie. They wanted Mitzi Gainer Gainer to do this. Part of Maryland was a real get for them. And it's I think actually makes the film even better that they have Maryland in the center of it. Yeah I mean otherwise because that's why I'm so fascinated by the fact that she gets top billing Mitzi gaynor would have not gotten top billing whether they were surprised that she wanted to. It's weird because it seems like she wanted to do it but she didn't. WanNa do do it like this. Movie is in black and white and she that stipulation in her contract that she only does color films so she's kind of going against a lot of different things like like one of the other roles that I think was offered to her at the time was William Faulkner's the sound and the fury exactly the kind of part. She put me in. Let do let me go so let me act. I've been spending three years pumping up my waits to learn how to do this. Let me try but she chooses this which in retrospect it was such a smart decision to being a film. It became iconic even though it probably would. I don't think it would become a psychotic if not for her. I would argue this is the movie that most people have seen that stars. Marilyn Monroe right like in the grand scheme of things we talked about this movie being in the Upper Echelon of Causa Communism which gentlemen prefer blondes and this probably the top three ah her because people aren't films knocking down the door for the prince and the showgirl even that's fun right and I just think that the this this is the film that most people see or understand her from and obviously you see the iconography of gentlemen prefer blondes and Madonna I think really embrace that in the eighties nineties and directed by the way by Mary Lambert who did put some really just found that out and blew my mind very also did the lack of prayer Madonna video i. I'm obsessed assessed now newly with Mary. Lambert 'cause I had no idea she did all the music videos that made my childhood Marilyn Monroe even though she's taking ten percent of the gross here does cost production half half a million dollars due to all of her delays and they were very bizarre delays because at one point that whole scene that she does Tony Curtis on the beach. They had blocked three days. They're never ever GonNa get this out and then they finish it in like within a couple of hours like she's unpredictable too which is interesting and I think billy wilder straight up hates her he's back and forth during the making of the movie. He's losing his mind. He's taking French. suppository is that are just make designed to make fall asleep at night because he was under so much stress not knowing if he's GonNa get his full day in a shooting tomorrow because who wins he was going to show up so he was inserting things in has asked to make himself go to bed at night and he twisted his back he lost his mind and and then later on when it was over when the dust settled in his film is out and it was a big hit he said you know what anybody could show up on a set and learn their lines but it takes a true artist to show show up not knowing your lines and still turn up performance. Yeah and plus. No one will go recovered yet. No one will go see it anyways but it's it's fascinating. I also wonder about like the psychological fallout for Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon because they had this pressure like if it was gonNA take her fifty nine takes to get the scene right. They couldn't fuck up if she got it right you know like if on her fifty nine thanks she's landed the words and then they screwed up oh but I would also say as an actor who when you do mess up once or twice and you can't get something to keep that energy going for fifty nine takes I mean I've never been in an environment where you have to do it that hat many times it because you know. I think we talked about Kubrick. I think fincher they do like dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of takes. I've never never been in that situation where you're doing dozens like the most takes thing I've ever done. It was a big groups seen is about thirty and thirty sounds like well. It's not that much it is when you're doing the three minutes seen over and over and over and over and over you forget what you're saying you just. There's no. You're they talk about like theater. You're onstage and every night. It's different in your reacting and you're in the moment or you try to stay in the moment but doing the same same thing over and over and over again it just. I wonder if it Dole's performances. I I and I actually wonder if Jack Lemons performance is broader. We're here because you you were doing it. So many times. Maybe capture that has left sounds like a hairball just out of laughter. He's he's just done. I mean and again. I do think that those are choices. They're making but keeping that energy up thinking about that really just going many times. I mean let me ask you a win. You've been in that situation if they take twenty to somebody screwed up. Something stupid does a little part of you. Be Like I hate you. Oh sure I mean if if you're waiting on one person I've never been in a situation where it's been directly one person the two times I can tell you that I've experienced this one was is it was a scene problem right so that was we're all doing great but the scenes not working so keep on running it. Maybe there's a tweak the other your time I did it. I was kind of off to the side. I had a couple of lines but it wasn't like my scene and there's not a chemistry going on between these two new characters a romantic chemistry and it we got to like take ten and take tennis a lot in the same camera setup. It's a lot a lot like I mean again. I'm not working on avengers. I'm working on different things and the performance I watched that performance get crazier crazier and crazier because is we'll let me try this. Let me try this and you're starting to spiral out but you can't move on. You can't shake it off you can't be are you know let's stop this. Come back twit later a lot of times for me. If I'm writing I'll be like I can't get this. GonNa move forward backwards. You have to get it. You have to leave you. You know the set the scene with it done in how you approach it if it's feeding it word by word if it's standing off camera. I I can't imagine Agean the energy that drain the crew and cast I think at boats are bad performances across the board from technically and creatively so is this like the comedy version of apocalypse now that the game I mean I talked to my wife been a David fincher film mm-hmm and she did like seventy five takes of a scene and they said to her look..

"Personal history on the fourth time and did you have military service before or that or <hes>. Tell me about your history. I have i've kind of a schizophrenic history <hes> so motel tell me into it in stereo so <hes> i actually started out. I wanted to be a musician and so i was in a band. You know playing clubs in l. a. but when my the baby daughter was born about three months before nine eleven and i just said man i gotta. I gotta do something to take care of her. I gotta do something to take care of my my young family and my my dad had been a police officer for twenty five years with l._a._p._d. And he said well you know what's the only other thing you've ever love doing and i said well. You know chasing bad guys. Hasn't you know driving around a forty thousand dollar car with lights and sirens. It sounds fun. He said <hes> that's great anywhere but l._a._p._d. Yeah and so he had you know he had an interesting history with l._a._p._d. I went to internal affairs during the rodney king incident and was actually when on the investigators to investigate all that and so he he kind of knew that hit the l._a._p._d. That i would be joining not his same l._a._p._d. Was very much changed so i i went to a a small police department on the central coast of belittle north of you <hes> and <hes> so i worked there for over a decade kayden then due to injury. I had to retire but you know i got to work undercover narcotics <hes> you know having been from the rock and roll world and being covered in tattoos didn't hurt so i bought more dope on duty than i ever bought in high school and then finally you know when i retired my wife wife said you know a thirty five and and i said i have no idea what i'm gonna do. I'm thirty five. I was expecting to tell us fifty five right and she said well what's the only thing you ever wanted right to do and i said well you know. My grandfather worked in the movie business. He was an art director. She says let's move over by my parents to l._a. And go to movie business so that's that's where i landed why it's kind of this kind of story tailed get here but once i got into business. I realized that you know when i was a police officer. When i was actually contributing it my life had meaning you know it doing something and although i love movies and they they they can be meaningful to to certain people you know when you're working in the business and people are freaking out. I'm like as you're not carrying cancer here. If you don't get your stuff on time he'd just push day the new movies about curing cancer right right. My father posted his resume of all the films that he did and i said he did what you know because it was just grandpa you know you didn't really didn't really matter so <hes> like i inherited a watercolor he he did for south pacific that is just an original story board that he just was all the young draftsman saying oh. You don't know how to you know remember how to do the job anymore. D. and he goes here sunday. Show you and he whips out this watercolor if the end of the gifting to me <hes> but yeah so that's kind of having him in the movie business and working us stuff <hes> and then my dad being copy kind of was a natural fit so when i got to my current job in the weight you know how movies are made and you know all the police and military and when you're you're you're hired tells. "She was fabulous. That's the thing about her is when she was good. She was the best actress ever. She was just fantastic. But she was just so screwed up with things and insecurities. And I don't know. But Ray now you're working closely with I'm you guys set it off. Well, we hit it off very well. In fact, we became very close friends, and so we did the show and I, I ended up having to do all the course close for sure. And a lot of the guest stars. And we had the best guest stars ever. And because the show was kind of always in trouble. We had different directors. We had different Corey. Gophers different set designers even I mean it just changed as we went along, and I met all these people, these are people that ended up working with and for the next twenty years, fabulous in that respect. And I think right met lies lies. It was eighteen right? I think she had just finished working in New York. The us about forward or one of those shows, I think you had said in one of the interviews. I read preparing for this that it was sort of through the experience of seeing Ray, who was dealing mostly with Judy on that show. Seeing what that interaction was like that you learned. It's probably good to keep a little distance between yourself and your clients. Is that fair to say? Well, I always have I mean, I've always been good friends with clients. But I'm not their best best friend. I don't rush over instead at the end of the bed, and cry with them when they just just stopped, what I do because he was getting calls in the middle. And he did Judy like Tim along and they had a very good relationship, and he made her look at the clothes that we did for her would just like terrific, and she got thinner. So she looked good in them. But, you know, it was it was tough several times in the middle of the night things happen on that show to that woman, and she'd be back rehearsing the next day off to the hospital off to the horrible. I think you said that she had one of the weirder. Figgers that you had to have designed for what was her? She's four foot eleven that's a really short girl and long legs should this beautiful eggs, but really short little body. And so it was hard it was hard. But and somebody when they're that small, everything was small VCR in the old movies as a kid. She was tiny five pounds looks like fifteen when you put it on. It's just has nowhere to go. So I guess the big takeaway from your years, working on that show were just what learning to work quickly and sort of on the fly will anytime you do weekly television. You better work quickly. You're out of a job, and don't I spent a lot of my life, doing weekly Televisa and sometimes more than one show week. The first client that you really became personally associated with would've been Mitzi gainer. I tell you I love Mitzi Gaynor. That was yeah. That was my first star lady that decided she was going to really let me do it. And this is like. Nineteen sixty six she's gonna do review. What was I mean, we now, think of as the place for flashy, showgirl types up was it already that it was already and sheet loved clothes. And she wasn't happy about designer. She had before I think he drank a little too much. But that's another story anyway. We sat down and talked. And I was a fan of hers watching her from the time she was like eighteen in the movie. She was like, well South Pacific was she was already started by then. But when she went to FOX, she was just a kid, and they were like grooming, her to be musical comedy star, but musical, comedies, basically, declined in the next few years, where there weren't very many and if they were they had to be a big win like South Pacific, right? So she wasn't getting the work. She wanted. And so they decided to do a nightclub Mitzi gainer is miss show business. She knows how to entertain to this day to this day, she knows how to tell a joke fishy..

"And he said why he said because she likes to do stuff and you're going to take over note before she even take a bite. You're going to say, thank you. Thank you very much. Get off the stage. He said, okay, I'm going to give her fifteen minutes. Salat? Out on that show. So he said now, I want you to your whole show. I said can't do it in fifteen minutes. So that I can do the best stuff. So I did a fifteen minute. Number that caused my show saints go marching in and was wonderful number. It was twelve and a half minutes. The other fifteen minutes was taken up by applause. I mean, really was terrifying. This is that the Deauville hotel, Deauville, Miami Beach and. So Ed said can she come to New York? She always being Mitzi. Can she come to New York and do some promos, and he said sure, she can't? So I went there all golden and toothed and. Big eyelashes, lots of jury and. Yes. I'll be that. Yes. Starting to thank you so much and synonymous show with this is going to be a group from Liverpool called the Beatles. I said, yes, thanks. I said the Beatles. What are the Beatles? He said, I can relax rock and roll really Donny, isn't it gun? This was October of sixty three. February of sixty four the Beatles. Had happened. I have tapped billing over them. So. We're about to go into rehearsal. Bob, sydney. Did you ever meet baps it curse? You know? Bob, sydney. He of creating death Sidey? Said to get that go with acute hair off. I said there's not a girl. I said, that's John. Sit down care who she is get her off the stage. John excuse me, since I know I heard so that was that. So then after it was all over the boys came up to me and the asked me for my autograph. Holy shit. Isn't that some we are overwhelmed looking at all of the people that you met and spent time with and worked with I can't imagine what it's like for you to try and go through all of the memories and think about all Adrian people what a love what a love. He used to wake up. I was talking to a girlfriend of mine at lunch went to. I said what's vanishes? What's matters? Cary grant's behind you. And I said Kerry come on over. Oh my God. Oh, my those are the moments right that divine. Could he was such a fine, man? We were supposed to do Damn Yankees together. That you're marvelous man, you're a Mormon looks woman. Yeah. Thank you for saying that no I mean, but you have you have a an attitude and an outlook that keeps you useful. And funny. And I I just said to jesse's we're we're arriving here that something popped in my head last night. It was this Rodgers and Hammerstein song from flower drum song. I enjoy being a girl. Yes. Yes. I think that's you. I do I do. I do. I enjoy my life. So you are working on a memoir say did you read any of it? I did three Chanterie's I wrote three chapters. I think it's really good. Yeah. I learned things I was amused by some of your anecdotes, of course, I didn't know. And I think people will get a big kick out of it. Good. I'm glad it means a lot for people to put real stories and personalities to people who are larger than life, and because you have your first hand experiences, and in many cases, over the course of many years. So it wasn't just I met Frank Sinatra once and it was nice. You know, you have your years of it. And so I think that for people now because there's only so many people who can say I knew so. Well, that's right personally, as I say loving Donald O'Connor loving Ethel Merman as I whenever I get to meet someone who actually knew them. And even if it's something small if someone says, oh, they always drinking soda something small to me. It's yet another part that humanizes them and that adds to my my love and my admiration MSCI take a bow. Thank you anytime all the time. We love you. Thank you day. So good to be with you today. Thank you. I enjoyed it very much next week per coin. What are you going to wear haven't decided, you know, something flashy? I know doing maybe an Ascot..

"And he said, oh, good t-. I said, yes, sir. Thank you. So they brought for tea and put a changes. It'd be mother said, no, sir. Jack nine and I plan on having kids for a couple of years. I didn't I was so stupid. I didn't know being mother and pour the tea. So he kind of liked that a little bit. So so we dished a little bit. And he said, well, he said, I would kiss you. But I can't he's got a cold. I said fine, sir, so left. So we went back home. Did you ever sing for him? Oh, no. Back home. And I had a start my picture with Frank Sinatra. Pour me, but we just so. Jack, a call from is to Fernley who said that us who's going to be in town one day. It was the Thursday. And he said he wants Mitzi to sing for him. So I said, okay, great. So I got my PIN appear. We'll came up, and he said, gee, that's great, Honey. So he helped me a lot. I sing him in love with a wonderful guy. What else chasing? I saying. In right out of my hair would just silly in a row, and I saying. What's the wonderful songs on the first day that she hundred Paquette Paquet? beautiful, son. And then at goose I wonder if a guy jumping row over I kicked off my shoes jumped over the tables chairs, this isn't the Beverly Hills Krista room. So Oscar was very sweet it came all the way from C. David Allen Cole is having a birthday today. I must correct before the listeners call in and tell me, I'm spreading fake news. Mitzi Gaynor, not having a birthday today. It was Roger waters from Pink Floyd controversial guy who is out there saying, nobody should go and perform in Israel. He's he's a guy who I like his music. I don't like his politics and the other one I would have added is Jane curtain. Remember, the original SNL? The news anchor Jane curtain the one who got into it with Chevy Chase. And he would call her. Jane, you ignorant slut that was part of their regular point counterpoint banter. But who would be mild today? Yeah. Asian people. I would be a barely a speed bump in the lexicon today on TV. Now, we're facing the start of another NFL season. Are you watching Frank? Are you are you one of the people who said, I'm tired of football. And the the anthem controversy has me tuned out. I've got to see what the so far in preseason games. I don't believe. The ravens have veteran straight attorney. The players have demonstrated one way or another. I probably will tune in the first game and take a look at it. And if I see any demonstrations, especially like, the one that occurred last year when they played at London that'll be it for me. I went to a more more college football, then then pro football, and I find it to be refreshing, just because the energy on college football. And I am a I'm gonna say it in this town. Nobody nobody come after me. I'm a Chicago Bears fan, and I have to tell you the anthem controversy gave me room not to watch because the bears have stunk on ice to we've added terrible couple years to get better. But I'm going to do the same. I'm going to sample it and see and now Nike released the capper nicad the actual ad where he's narrating, and it's got LeBron James. It's got Serena Williams in it. So there's. Are still going forward. They still think this is going to carry through. And I I don't know if the the gamble is worth it Nike. Kicks off tonight with the eagles. The falcons I'm gonna tune in for that one a little bit and the eagles are they're up the road from me. So I'm surrounded by those people you. Bobby Nike Nike's about gambling on the on on the young market. You know, the younger PM, basically, they're bitter counting on LeBron and Serena and even capper Nick to push them forward. They didn't see it also on this date of modern warfare changed in one thousand nine hundred fifteen is the little Willie rolled off the assembly line in England the first battle tank, and it was kind of a not really a success because they couldn't figure out how to get it moving very quickly, and Chuck you had a little Willie didn't you? Yeah. Yeah. I was actually born with that. With a little Willie. For little Willie. Yes. The mold. Became joe. So well GI Joe doesn't even have a little will move. Barbie never looked at that part of it. And I did. Yeah. We did. Yeah. Yeah. We put the action wardrobe on him, and he had the he had the beard hair of any other. He thought it was fabulous. And on the state nine hundred ninety seven two point five billion. People watched the funeral for Princess, Diana. But. We got another moment in history on this date. Nineteen ninety-five Cal Ripken played the twenty one thirty one two thousand one hundred and thirty first consecutive ballgame. Breaking Gehrig's record you. Remember that one while you want? Yeah. Wasn't there at the game? But I watched it on TV was huge that round of applause. I think was a record setter. I think it went on for like nine minutes of standing did a walk around the stadium shook hands with just about everybody could have run for president you talking about run. All right. Let's do the birthday game here. Let's see on the states some pretty famous birthdays. But guess guess who is wait a minute. This is yesterday. What am I doing with yesterday's birthday? Got it. Here. Don't have faith in me. I'm looking at going Raca while she's having a birthday was yesterday. Yeah. She she has parts of her that we talked about. I know there's one guy that has birthday today. All right. One of my favorite singers house. You you know, this guy David Allen co. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, you wouldn't admit I like my life, David L up against the wall redneck mother. Yeah. Person that redneck Muffin. Yes. Redneck Muffin mother kidding. What was the the the need? No. He didn't do the was drunk the night. I went my mama went to prison. What? AM country day that David Allen go. He wrote it and Steve Goodman fixed. It. Yeah. Because he wrote the final verse. I lost my birthday. Let's. Make it up. Chuck does that all the Trump. Does. He really. Thanks. How we get the traffic around here. Of course, you can only be fifty percent wrong. I've said that before the people who are sitting there say, he's an idiot. There's nothing here and the people who aren't there go. Wow. That's really a bad problem. And what do they pay? Speaking of being fifty percent wrong. Why is it? The always paid these weather guys so much money. When they're only fifty percent, right that active. God is what they used to say nothing. They can do about it. And you know in your insurance acts of God are able to be discounted. So if you have something that happens in your insurance policy, and if you read the fine print your insurance policy, I believe it says if you if they can trace your lineage back to either Adam or eve they can deny the claim I'm just saying so that's the history. Well, so we have David Allen coach today, Mitzi Gaynor. I think is having a birthday today. And I had one more for you. And I'm sorry. But who do you think is older Mitzi Gaynor Davidenko was? I know about David Allen code because I read it early this morning. So I'll tell you David Allen COE MSCI you we're going to the traffic is he's fifty percent right on traffic. But one hundred percent right today on this. Absolutely, correct. So I would like to have a disclaimer by the way to that that I'm fifty percent, right? So please let people know you're kidding. I am kidding. I'm sorry. I checked the last thing I wanna do Pugh your credibility. Long along list of last. Show too long to have credibility. What are you talking about guilt by association? Mr. that's what I'm saying. It's your problem. I will I will straighten the ship out and get I'll find my papers this giant stack of papers. I can't find the stuff. I know that Chuck actually gets home on time each and every morning with his own personal traffic report. Yeah. You pay extra for that house? Of course, he does. Of course, you. All right. We'll tell you how you can get the personalized Ha's like traffic for shock a little bit later. Mike. I take it out in trade with him. I I don't wanna know. This is now now it's an HR problem. It sounds like, but if Tomlin's listening it's out give him equal time. Okay. We'll get equal time for Tom. Tom shares Joe with me. So there you go. I'm trying to get to pay the bills here brother helped me out. Talkradio six eighty WCBS off the rails already mica palca in for Sean. But everybody else is here beat me up. A few years ago. I started noticing how quick my legs got tired sore and heavy failing. I'm over forty. So I figured par for the course. Right. But.

"By now that there's a, little place on thirty eighth street which is actually right in, my own backyard in. South Minneapolis Thirty? Th, street and, what is that like cedar not far for there's, a little was a little popcorn and ice cream spot seasonal called, Dave's Dave's popcorn and this is one of, those, places you drive. Buying it. Just looks. Like it's stuck in. Time stuck in amber. I. Didn't know this did you actually know that it was a drive through no I mean, so you could cause I I've been there all but once And. This is probably why despite everybody? Sort of like oh I'm so sad to see it go it's probably why went because not many people. Actually went regardless the people who did go really had. Strong feelings for it I'll tell you about that in a. Minute but as I. Was researching it somebody pointed out that it was a? Drive, through and, if you look at it, it's just like sort, of a How do you even describe it. Looks like a hotdog stand yeah kind of, and I noticed that there was, a drive through window I just didn't think it was operational like I thought it, was just you know old buildings Yeah Up to that sliding. Window it's like the Dairy. Queen by my, house they have a sliding. Window you walk up to the, window you get your, stuff but this lady windows actually drive through in their pictures of like cars driving up his colleagues actually drive through. Anyway moral of the story is not, that Milkjam creamery. Which you've also probably heard about one of the newer. Restaurants in our town ice cream place the they also run a bunch of restaurants they took over? That building which is, kind of weird right because this, building is tiny it's, a, two hundred square feet but the news, was bringing ice, cream, and great you know who sad to see. This all business go why was like I want to know. More about this like building how, long has it been there because everybody not everybody but. I saw on social media people sort of like oh I remember this place as a kid and I'm like well that's an indication. That there's some history here so I started, digging around and I go to weird places, you don't have time for this but I know where to go to find old stuff. And I started looking for. Dave's popcorn and, it turned out that Dave's. Popcorn actually didn't start on thirty, eighth street and south, Minneapolis it started on cedar in many turns out it actually started out as a popcorn cart nineteen seventeen by guy. Named Dave Lind who knew that's all Old he had Swedish parents he was in a child of immigrants had a little popcorn STAN turned into a bigger place. Over on cedar many hobbies to rent bikes, to that is now where the super America, stands yeah roughly I think that's the same place down there That place was ultimately demolished like in the early sixties Well I I know. This because I found an article and in the article it. Shows a Hollywood actress in her husband visiting south Minneapolis. Because her, husband is from, south Minneapolis, now that Hollywood actresses film star Mitzi gainer, whom you would know from such theatrical productions as South Pacific and others. But most notably. You'd probably remember her as the. Girl. Singing I'm gonna wash that man. Right, outta my hair dancing I mean this, woman was you know at. The tail end of the golden era the golden. Age of Holly back. When actors did more than just act, they could sing they. Could dance the triple threat really she can still, do it all well she married a guy named Jack bean Jack Venus from. South, Minneapolis. They came back for the Minneapolis premiere of South Pacific back in nineteen fifty eight And there are pictures of them at like. His favorite spots throughout the old neighborhood and, one of. Those places was, Dave's, popcorn so cool so I thought well that's cool because Mitzi Gaynor I don't know if you know this is still with us Despite being one of the last you know Hollywood studio actresses still round She is just, an amazing person she went on to do. All sorts of wonderful things but she's still. Kicking and stretching and kickin, she's, in her eighties and I knew this and so then I went oh. I'm gonna post. This because I think this is a really cute stories, a cool story husband died a, few years, ago after, a long illness So I posted it. And I tag turn it because it. Turns out she's on Twitter get out of town Mitzi, Gaynor Mitzi I'm going to wash my hand. Might that man right outta my hair gainer. Is on Twitter that is, so, disturbing about that is that she only has like nine thousand nine hundred. Followers so please. Go follow Mitzi Gaynor doing it as we speak and It is. Her for those of you who might be thinking are you sure that's? Her it's she's verified and I know. It's her because shortly after I posted this old article and pictures of her and her husband. Visiting south Minneapolis and talking about Dave's popcorn which is going away I get a reply from Mitzi. Gaynor v. Mitzi Gaynor salve on my Twitter so I where, was I a cat video. Festival and all, of a sudden people Babu peop- thanks these are precious memories for me did you from v. Mitzi Gaynor did you scream I didn't scream but I did, an internal gay scream Of course I feel like you were in the appropriate place to make. That scream external I feel like the people, around you that you're festival yeah would have noticed anyway like look I'd just love old Hollywood stars but I also just love history and I love stories and this was just such a delightful story. Like also to learn about this tiny little business that this guy started he started. Making some popcorn in nineteen seventeen and even after this place closes the recipe and the, equipment that was used to make the popcorn is. Going to go over to another place called mini ha scoop and. They're gonna make Dave's popcorn so the students popcorn is still living on in. Two thousand, eighteen hundred years later and yet there's this weird connection with actress star of stage. And. Screen Mitzi Gaynor she this is. A woman who called Ethel Merman mom I mean? She has been, around way v biggest names in Hollywood And is one of. The biggest, names herself and she's still alive and she's on Twitter And. I just, think the world is an. Amazing place to live you can have that experience you know, I'm just, like to do I have nothing before the cat video, festival yesterday I'm just you. Know digging around on the internet and I ended up quote unquote chatting with Nazi games you know what I feel like you should do just like sort of a You know way to kind of close the loop I feel like. You. Should, go take a picture of. Dave's popcorn take a picture. Of in the pictures that you posted a. Mitzi Gaynor. Visiting the twin cities, you see her outside of. Her husband's, elementary, school go, grab, a picture of. That. Take a. Picture of a couple of places she? Had been. Yeah and suddenly, compile those and send those back in places. Look like, now yeah. Well, that'd be get a cool that's a great story Bradley I thought..
