"I can't tell you how long I've waited for this actual day. Sanders in for Selfie, What's happening, my friend Tommy, How are you? Good. How are you? Good to see you. We still these off for the the Jewish holiday. So you've decided to step in and be part of the nonsense absolute that first spin together. It is. I apologize for not being a professional broadcaster as we began. Are you apologizing ahead of time? That's right. That's right. You lose two. Are you as excited about what today means as I am? Obviously, it's game week. Yeah, well, it is it is, and I am excited, but it's tempered by years of disappointment and harder already bringing us down. Look, look, I mean, look, I want to be positive, but the older I get more crab. By the way. Adam Abdullah sent us a A series of power rankings today, and I believe I believe we did not rank and by we I mean the bears. I don't believe we ranked any higher than 21st. We were somewhere between 21st and 25th. And we had where we have. We had NFL com We had, um We had ESPN. Who else did we have? We had CBS four times, CBS USA today all the heavy hitters, the ringer all the heavy hitters, and I guess the the conclusion that we came to the average of bed. Yeah. 23rd. Yeah. I think the conclusion that we all came to was invasion hates us. And and it's it's and I guess at this point, I want to be optimistic. And as I always say, Xander, and it's the simplest and may be the stupidest, stupidest refrain. I have It's related to Matt Nagy and the Bears and everybody else is you change the narrative by changing the narrative. If you want everybody to feel differently about you. Yes, it's a really simple kind of saying that I live by If you want to change the narrative, and by that, I mean, if you want everyone to stop talking about you as a guy that came here to revolutionize the offense and to develop quarterbacks the way who gave him that title of great revolutionary offensive guru all of these adjectives and support superlative. That's a That's a really good question. I don't know. I think there was just this assumption that when Matt came from Kansas City, despite only having been the play caller, um for about five or six games, and by the way, one of those games was the playoff game against the Titans. I believe Where they were boat racing the Titans by running the football and decided to switch things up in the second half, got away from the run and ended up losing that game. I don't know. I think there was just this feeling that Starvation. That fan starvation by proxy. Your I'm guilty of that. You get what you want, right? Yes. Hey, what happened? Jane Color came to town. I was thrilled. I hear we all were. We were all here we go. We finally he was coming off of Pro bowl season. He was, Yeah, I think it was by. I mean, it was it was projected or assumed success. By proxy because he came from the Kansas City system with Andy Reid. So it's got to be a home run right around. Um, it hasn't been now he could sit here and talk to you about in the Bears will talk to you about 12 and four season as a rookie coach, Anyone coach of the year back to back eight and eight seasons. He's been to the postseason two out of the three times, Um With that in mind, the narrative now is is a the offences confusing and not very effective and He's not good at developing quarterbacks, and as I've said forever, if you want it was a quarterback. Yes, he was a Delaware. If you want to change the narrative, change the narrative be better at what you're asked to do, and then people will start talking differently about you. So We begin again Sunday night in Los Angeles, where there is doubt about Matt Nagy and his offense. He can change the way we feel about him, if, in fact he can do a better job game planning Better job play colleague and ultimately developed this young quarterback in Justin Fields. Well, at what point does he realize that You know, it's not about forcing his program to work. No, each bin that it seems to me. That he's had this what he wants to achieve, and he's not coming off of it, even after several times where it hasn't worked now he's got Justin Fields who may be a good student of his plan when we see him Yes, when does he Just adapt if he needs to. Will he adapt this year? We haven't really seen it. You don't actually last few games last year's last five games of the season, and look, we cannot go all here It is finally Yeah, And I always thought that game planning for Mitch Travis Key is your quarterback with a limited offensive line in front of him is probably the easiest game plan to put into place in the National Football League. Because you have to do less like you'd be really easy. If I can only I can really consume myself and concern myself with this over here, which was Um Limited ability to process things. So what we're gonna do is cut the field in half. We're not going to ask him to read from the right side of the field. Little less size. We're going to go. You know, Top the bottom One read to read Ball comes out or you go. We're going to run the football consistently. We're going to stay committed to running the football. We're going to get out on the edge, and we're going to take advantage of what this quarterback does do well to me. The game plan for Mitchell Robiskie was probably the most easily Put together devised game plan in all of football, and they struggled to do that, until the final five games of the sexy I know. And is that the problem talking to a guy who played the game his entire life in a non sexy manner? Sexy is not only it is not always the only way to get it done. But you're right. It didn't like it. This city. He wants sexy. Well, here's the deal wants say that he did not want to run the ball early on. Then he's one say that or said, We're not here to do that, or there was something that there was some quote and I can't remember it's been wild. Where it seemed like he was very against.

"A lot of folks taken on the bears and let's start with the man making the decisions himself. Chicago Bears head coach met Maggie Now One of the interesting things fits about the team is that of course, there are differing desires at many different levels. There is a GM and Ryan pace. Who, by the way, it would probably be pretty happy if Mitch went and did great somewhere else, and Justin Fields did great here, and he could say I was right about both of them. It must have been the coaching. But Ryan peace and Matt Nagy are trying to hang on to their jobs. Many people thought they were out after last year, they eked into the playoffs. We all remember Mitchell Robiskie, the Nickelodeon player of the game. Unfortunately, that didn't result in the wind for the Bears in the playoffs. Nagy and Pace are back. Their timeline is very short. Potential timeline for Justin Fields is very long. And so for Nagy, he set out right. I'm more interested in the success of fields long term and this team long term, then right away protecting my job. Andy Dalton is our starter. He doubled down on this Saturday. The stock of Andy for us is going to be something for us is seeing what he does during the season. You know that. That's how we got. We got to be able to see. What can Andy do during the season with this team, and with these guys that has been our plan this whole entire time. I truly understand the want to for people to want to see more Justin and all that. I get that, But we also understand where we're at. And how with the true plan is, and all we can do is ask Justin to keep playing, and he's doing it and to keep playing and next key point. Alright if it's good taker hot take that They got to see Dalton in the regular season. Yeah, I don't get the hot take like I'm not.

"Mind blown. I can't believe it. I said it. I said it, and I don't regret it. He did. You heard me Mitchell. Travis Key did the damn thing Buffalo in Chicago was most definitely a Mitchell Robiskie Revenge game. I mean, nobody's ever going to hype an exhibition game for anything. But you know that Mitchell had that big, fat red Sharpie out for that one. I mean, I'll get to Andy Dalton v. Justin Fields a little bit later on, but because those who are battling it out in the ashes of a stadium Because they're battling it out in the ashes of a stadium. The true Biscay himself burned to the ground on Saturday. You want to talk about a freaking laser show. Listen, I've gone hard on this guy I really have. But this is the beauty of me. Where do we even start when we talk about the beauty of me? The beauty of me as I'm accountable, and I'm going to call it the way I see it. This dude put on a freaking laser show. 2028 20 of 28 for 221 Yards, a touchdown and a passer rating of one. Oh 6.2. He led buffalo to 34 points in seven drives. He was absolutely surgical in the way he carved up that bears defense. My man looked like Aaron Rodgers, Joe Montana and Tom Brady all rolled into one. And he made Matt Nagy look like a fool. First drive 72 yards. 10 plays TD seven. Nothing bills. I know if you're a bears fan, you're like, Yeah, Whatever. I've seen that before. No way That chump does that again. Second drive, 11 plays 64 yards.

"And raced towards the playoffs. While the Cubs continue to fall in record breaking fashion and at Soldier Field On Saturday, Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields put some of his star potential on display while his predecessor, Mr Bisky, started for the opposing team. It was a busy sports weekend here with those stories and more is W B e Z Sports contributor. Cheryl Raye Stout. Cheryl Welcome back. Thank you, Susie. How are you? I'm doing well, well, let's start with the bears. The Bears. Um last home preseason game has created more questions than answers. What are some of the issues after the 41 15 loss to Buffalo? Let's let's start with the offense. Well, one of the few positives it doesn't count. No, there's only one preseason game left, and that's in Tennessee on Saturday, But here's one of the big questions, Susie Do you have to start Andy Dalton. This we can get more reps in the final game to establish his rhythm gets something he talked about that he needed to get done. Or do you let the rookie quarterback Justin Fields get time with the starters in a game situation now, Nagy said he's still going to go with Dalton to start the season against the ramp of September 12, and here's a couple of things. There were a few players not on the field. With Dalton and Shields to get some extended time with one of those is David Montgomery. Another one is Ellen Robinson. And the offensive wine didn't have Jason Peters, who just signed and German and Freddie, but the news is I'm at practice today and all those players are on the field, so maybe they'll have a better situation on Saturday. Yeah, well, I want to turn to a former Bears teammate, the Bears defense was torched by their former teammate, Mitchell Robiskie. He is the Buffalo Bills back up and Had an excellent game at Soldier Field. What happened? Well, this is one area. It was really, really tough to watch. Robiskie was great. He was able to score at six or seven possessions. The problem with the Bears was the poor tackling. They had no pass rush, and what was really interesting to watch is that Buffalo had authors 32nd stringers and third stringers out there and they did a good game plan for Mitchell. So he had a good situation. Now again, There's more starters that did not play Andy, Uh, Danny Trevathan and grow rock Juan Smith. They weren't out there, but they were on the field today, and we just talked to Shawn Gibson. He's starting safety for the Bears, and he told us that they're not panicking right now, Even though it looked bad on Saturday, he thinks they could still have everything put together by the starting game. Okay. Good to have that optimism. Um, well, you know, it's usually painful when a player like Stravinsky who has who is expected to do big things in Chicago, and then leaves, Um how did that go? Went, Robiskie saw his old teammates again. Susie. It was interesting to see the Bears. Players and staff warmly greet Mitchell in the pregame and again afterwards and he talked about in this post game presser. Yeah, it was cool. It was fine. It was good to see those guys out there and I'll be ruined for him this season and wish him well and just that everyone stays healthy, but it kind of felt like practice back in the day, just going against those guys talking little smack and just having fun, find playing football, But, um, just very grateful to be a part of this team and how everybody had my back today and we just went out there and execute and went down the field and, um it made plays and got in the end zone. So that's that's all you can ask for is and just leave the guys down and score points. Very cordial. Uh, well, Cheryl, How did the fans reacted? Robiskie? You know, that was a big question going into the game. What were they going to do? There was applause and just a very small smattering a boost. So the that was negative. We all thought it would be. But it wasn't that was nice to see because he didn't deserve anything negative. Thrown at him. And Cheryl, You know, we talked a little bit about Dalton and fields up the top. Um, but it's got to be a little awkward, um, for the current starting QB Andy Dalton. He's the starter, but he knows the fans are mostly there to see rookie quarterback Justin Fields. What does he say about the competition and the fans reactions? You know what was interesting was just feels himself was very disturbed by the booing of his teammate, and he actually said it was disrespectful. But when you look at what Andy Dalton had to say, he's a veteran. He knows the situation and he knows if this is something that's going to happen, and he addressed it with the media. It's part of it. They want to, uh you know, they want to see a good product out there. I didn't hear any booze after the touchdown pass that through. Um So, uh, you know, hopefully there'll be will be cheering. What Well, I like how he handled that then. Are there any other concerns for Matt Nagy as they finish training camp this week? No. One big area that was really glaring and really poorer. Is there special team coverage? It's been pathetic for two games. And that's a real concern. Because you know what happens at this point. You have players that would be cut tomorrow and players to be cut next week to get down to 53. The players are not starters. Your second unit, you're 30 unit. Players have to be able to play on special teams and what I think is going to happen. If these guys that they have right now don't make the cut. They'll be picking up really release players to try to fix it, because that's a real concern at this point. This is reset. We're talking with W B E Z Sports contributor shall race down and we're catching up on the big sports stories of the weekend, and I want to turn to baseball now, um As we mentioned at the top. It's been losing and more losing for the Cubs. Um, you know, tell us more about it, Cheryl. Well, they are 18 games under 500. They are seeking fast, You know, it's been tough to see. This team is down only three players from the championship year will secretaries who is now injured Jason Heyward to his head offensive real offensive. Output is horrible. And the one bright spot is Kyle. What do you realize that he's the winningest pitcher in Major league baseball right now, with 14 wins? You wouldn't know that because the way this team is playing and yesterday after losing 9 to 1, I ask starting and losing picture Alec Mills. If the players are talking about this predicament that they are in right now. Yeah, I wouldn't say we've had too many conversations as far as you know what's going on. Obviously, like I said, we just want to win. Um, you know, it's obviously not a fun clubhouse after games right now, you know, we're doing everything we can. You know, we plan on, uh, really doing some things to help us out in the future..

If you miss the game, Not only was Travis Keys Perhaps perhaps reclamation of his career pretty compelling stuff for a preseason game. Even for an Ah preseason game. It was it was cool to scene. So was the storyline on the other side of the equation. The Bears Matt Nagy, as the head coach have not yet. Named a starting quarterback, and you've got this situation around the NFL. Are you okay? Look, I gotta tell you Whenever this happens, it's very easy for me to put my feet up and wait for you guys to fix it and watch you guys run around in the sky that looked That looks like a rough way to start on Monday, pal. It was the best way to start a week. But we got through it. Thanks to Sean. And thanks to our engineering team, both here and in California, and here we are. And we are happy Monday, buddy. I thought maybe the hurricane, you know, created some some problems down there. It's all good here. What we gonna do today over the course. The next now hour and a half. Tony Romo is a colleague. Great guy. The Nostradamus of NFL play calling But I feel like he jumped the gun a little bit. In anointing Zach Wilson, Dan Marino. And when I say that he anointed Zach Wilson, Dan Marino, If you listen to the show enough here, and we appreciate you if you do that might sound like me being hyperbolic as a way to make a point. No, no, we'll play the clip in about Let's say 20 minutes or so. Of Tony Romo literally anointing the Jets rookie one of the great quarterbacks of all time. We've got a theme that we're going to lean into on this Monday. And it is. Arrogance is an arrogance Monday. We'll get into. I think what we saw in that Bill's bears preseason game, and Sean did an amazing job talking about the graciousness. Of Justin Fields, the early on leadership of a young quarterback handling a quarterback battle the right way the maturity that he showed that certainly he was able to glean from his college experience. Understanding people who doubt him and acting toward Andy Dalton the way you're supposed to toward a colleague, But I also have concerns and how Mitchell Robiskie even in a preseason game, toward the Holy hell out of that bears defense and what it says about Matt Nagy. And about the great I think Achilles heel around the National Football League. And that is coaches who, too often think they're smarter than the game and how that doesn't just endanger the reputation of Bill Belichick long term with the Patriots. It doesn't just endanger what the Jags are trying to build with Urban Meyer. It doesn't just endanger the Green Bay Packers. All that's true. I think it also puts at least a little bit of risk and maybe a lot of risk Justin Fields. And his opportunity. To be able to grow into the kind of quarterback talent wise that that graciousness deserves that we saw in that press conference after the game. We'll do that. We'll probably reset the show Dude about 10 or 15 minutes from now by our cell next hour. Speaking of arrogance, James Harden. I understand hard and announcing that nobody can beat his team. If they're all healthy, that they think they're invincible. I sort of get it. And it would still be obnoxious. If that sort of a trio came together, and let's say LeBron James were part of that trio or Stephan Curry were part of that tree or back in the day. Kobe Bryant or MJ are part of that trio. I don't need to hear it from the beard. A guy who has never accomplished anything resembling approximating or approaching a championship level of basketball will hit that next hour. We'll talk to me honest. But I do want to sort of check in on. Just make sure the guys are doing okay. A lot of chaos over the.

"Of your offense is going down, executing Um, I feel like each week. I'm getting a little bit better grasp of the offense and what we're expecting to go down and just leave those guys and, um, really, we were really efficient. All three phases. We are feeding off the defense and special teams in good field position. Those turnovers early. And just going down and score. It was nice. So that's what you that's what you want to do when you come out here and play really well. That's bills quarterback weird to say Mitchell Robiskie after he carved up the Bears for 20 of 28 221 yard touchdown at quarterback rating of 106. He was outstanding. We are at Buttermilk Cafe as fans head over to training camp. It's presented by Chicago mightiest owners and operators. First Midwest Bank is a sponsor, Valparaiso University, the home loan expert and your Chicago land, Toyota. Dealers. Who do we got a lot of calls. So let's head right to the phones can cap told you guys he told you and look what happened on Saturday. Yeah, I know. He told you. I'm not telling you this guy is going to go to the Hall of Fame here. I'm just telling you, maybe he's a hell of a lot better. In a better system. Yeah, you all take that You saw what happened 20 for 28 221 yards and a touchdown in a half cap. Told you in a half and just carved them up as if the Bears weren't even out there. All right. Let's start with Freddie. He's first day Friday. What's going on? Sparkles? Hey, guys, How you doing? First time callers. But this he was never the problem. It's nags needs to get rid of him. As of now, before he ruins field, I would do a good day, Guys. Thank you very much. You know, we've had that sentiment wrecked. Whoa. I mean, I mean, he got to this point and and that you know what? It's a point that we've heard several times here where There is a fear from Bears fans saying, Well, you know, if Justin Fields does start will Nagy break him? I don't know. If that I doubt that's going to be the case Field has natural ability. Leadership leadership. I didn't see from Mitch in North Carolina. Which is a starter for 12 13 games in North Carolina saw two of them. I was never impressed and surprised me. The Bears Gambon Fields has skins on the wall. We saw what he did at Ohio State. He could have been the guy at Georgia. I just think that he has that did Shawn Watson ability to lead a team and brie and provide a dynamic and the quarterback? Quite frankly, you ever seen a long time? Yeah, I still would love to have the ability to sit like here with Matt. Have breakfast to go. Can you explain to me like if you told me we had some veteran quarterback? That that guy's had a hell of a career. He might be aging. You know Ben Roethlisberger. That's a perfect if we had Ben Rafa's burger here, and he'd been our guys whole career. Okay, I get it. You're going to play the veteran. Another year. Let the kid Andy Dalton's Cube er the last five years my brother was pull that up. I'm like he sucked. You knew that though coming in You knew you wasn't very good. No. He's a professional quarterback. He does have multiple pro bowls. He just looks terrible. Come on. What are we doing here? There's a ceiling to his success in Cincinnati was not that that is correct. Well, you knew that. He was he. You knew you weren't getting Boomer sized it in here. Did you were left? Okay, Let's go to James on the South side. James, what's going on, man? James. What's up, James? Hello, James. Turn your radio down. Let's go look alive. Ha ha! Tom share. All right. Well, we've now we appreciate it, but we'll move on Marcus in Minneapolis. Hey, Marcus. What's up, man? What's going on, guys? So I want to have an overreaction and Mitch, but I'm trying to figure out what are we trying to say with the school? Former? Excellent said it even to me. He did. Okay. I mean, you have to say you did okay by the numbers, but Are we saying that the beers made a mistake that he really she didn't look like a number two overall pick, but he had they set up a good game platform You made He did good on the fire. The two yard passes here some games like that against the Bears, But we don't see anything spectacular from them. My concern like hood chick is a defense. They look with Darty was dodging. They looked like they didn't want to be there that they didn't want to play at all. And my thing with Maggie, I think he has a good system. Maybe, but I don't think he knows how to t splitters because Offensive. Uh, Senator Ball, they execute terrible. It's been like that since magazine. Thanks for God. Appreciate it, Marcus. No more excuses. Remember the hallmark of this show when it comes to bears no more excuses. No more excuses. No complaints about the offensive line or you don't have the quarterback that you want. Hey, there was a disconnect between Maggie and Travis getting. It's very clear right now. You want certain things to happen, Travis? He couldn't execute it. Okay, So now you have Justin fields in place. I'm sitting down to the side because we know fields is the future And because of that. There's no more excuses. There's no more of. Well I didn't have. I didn't get the quarterback I wanted. I'm not sure if we have enough weapons at that. You have enough weapons. You have enough to be able to have at least nine wins here in the regular season. At least nine So let me ask you something hoodie, and we'll get back to calls in a second. You had no Daniels you have. I don't know when the Fed is going to play well, he got hurt. Didn't he got hurt the conditioning tests that's correct. Alain Robbe, but you had to bring him back. He had to bring her back. He played well last year. I mean, uh, I don't think anybody anticipated. He played every game last year. Uh, Alan Robinson didn't play call connect. Didn't play. David Montgomery didn't play. The Fetty didn't play. Daniels didn't play. Muni barely played so How do you judge what you watched offensively from whether it was fields or Dalton when you see 123456, basically with mount with Muni barely seen seven starters not playing how much of that was injury? How much of that would just rest or just sitting out the game? It sounds like Alan Robinson. He just didn't want to put him in that position. Same with Montgomery in this in this scenario with the three preseason games, the second one is the most important. The second is the third traditionally, right, correct And this in this scenario, like like You're not going to play with the dress rehearsal. The first one, Okay. The second one should be where you can go. Balls to the wall, right and the third one, and it's kind of like the fourth one from years, right? Nobody of consequence place so I wanted to see a full complement of bears if they were healthy enough to play on Saturday..

"And so I agree. That's why he's more still run stuffer. First he needs to develop the pass rushing skills the way that Akeem has. Before he does take that next step. I'm just suggesting to you. It may take a year or two. But I'm with you. I think it's a fair. I think it's a fair presentation that you make. Want to. You know my my first reaction because I've yet to see the list I'm finding out is good listeners. And so what's interesting is I was with you and I was convinced in the scheme Hicks placed at 14 selection. Terri Cohen was at 15. And I in my head as we were trying to have the conversation about Hicks. I kept thinking to myself. You know what? Eddie Goldman's damn important for this team and moving forward this season like Abdel Mention, run stuffer up the middle. You expect them to kind of take that next step. He's a guy who seems like he's a star in the making on the defensive line. I would have guessed that they're coming into this. You would have had Eddie Goldman somewhere around six or seven. That's what I would have thought I would have thought. Interesting, you know, like how Adam's laying it out there on the defensive line. If you have a legit Guy in the middle, who is creating chaos. You pair him with Akeem Hicks. They're splitting the reps. They're making sure that they're both fresh that allows the guys off the edge to attack the quarterback even more and then also you stop the run. I think many times last season. We saw the Bears defense have an inability to get off the field. And I think that's important, too. I know the offensive side things also playing to that because We've seen multiple times throughout the Mitchells Robiskie experiment that the offense was not consistent enough in just time of possession, getting first downs, allowing the defense to rest up to come back out and to be as efficient as they are. So I thought I thought before you revealed Goldman at 13. I was pretty positive that Goldman would be in the class of Jill and Johnson, Justin Fields. Khalil Mack Rock Juan Smith some of the most important players on this team, So I am a little shocked that he's at 13 because I think he's damn important. I did too. And I think both of you make very good points. Again. I think that part of my yes to keep your hands off my damn list. I think part of my decision making was also like there are still some questions about you know where Eddie is with regard to his desire to come back. And continue his ascending career in the National Football League. So I think that you know, some of that in decision probably weighed on me a little bit. Um Look, these are tough decisions as well. Yeah, I think I would lump that that thought. To support what what I'm thinking because if a Goldman a is is not what he was when he last played for the Bears, I think that's a problem and then to like like, Abdel said. You're not going to fall someone for the decisions that they made to not participate last year if there's something going forward because he hasn't been around there are there are reports that he's in town. But he hasn't been at the Oh, Tia's like that could also disrupt what you're trying to build going forward, and I'm not being critical of his decision to opt out last year, that is, that's his his choice, and I defend his right to do. What was best for him. I also looked at this situation is this is going to be a rotation. There will be a rotation of guys that play that spot. They'll move guys in, they'll move guys out. I think the bears, I think Ryan pace one of the things he's done A really nice job of Is finding depth on the interior of his defensive line. So 3123323776 if you guys have thoughts as well, I have Eddie Goldman as my 13th most important player for the upcoming 2000 and 21 NFL season for your Chicago Bears again understand the criteria that we're using. This isn't just ranking a power ranking of the players one through 15. But Eddie comes in at number 13 for me believe there are other lists that are out there that aren't my lists lists that have been compiled by other ESPN folks nationally. Isn't that correct guys? About different positions in the NFL and on the defensive side of the ball, cornerbacks linebackers and I believe edge rushers and we'll get to that conversation when we return. You were looking waddling.

"1000. We'll talk to Albert Breer at eight shot No shots at a 35 and our guy Anthony result. In an upper deck shot New York yesterday in the Cubs five to loss at 9 35 3123323776. So Alan Robinson showed up at Halas Hall yesterday had to go through some Different intake things. He's got a month to sign his franchise tender. Would you give him a monster deal hoodie? Well, I need to find out what free agency looks like for next year. Right? Can I get an asset that can be more productive as productive or more productive than Robinson? But a younger asset. That's that's my question. So so? So, so Michael Irvin was just on recently. On the Lebatard show, and they were asking him. They said, Hey, you know what Is there a wide receiver? That's un song, someone that doesn't get enough of claim but really gets the job done. Michael Irvin, said Alan Robinson And so to me, Alan Robinson, as I've told you last year, and I feel this way now. Robinson is a top 10 receiver in the league. And so here's the question. Can you are you Are you able to get the best out of him now with a new quarterback, and that very well could be Justin Fields. It could be Andy Dalton. Will he give you the same production or more? Looking for more of that spot if you can write You are looking for more, obviously, at that spot to get Alan Robinson like if I'm him Why would he be upset with the contract he has right now. He's getting 19 million all guaranteed. And there probably will not tagged him a second time because the cost would be prohibitive if they offered you 19 million. You'd say why. Why am I not work? 20? That's just human nature. Right? I just even at that. Don't look at it from a football player standpoint. That's just anybody. You see the the team will tell you what you're worth. When you feel like you're worth more Okay like that's that's like being his position right now. You believe, And I believe that we're worth more than what we're given. Right? Right? Because if you don't, you shouldn't be in the job. Same thing with Al Robinson. Just perspective. Transall. Okay, So here's the free agent class for next year. Allen Robinson. Obviously he's 29 years of age. Chris Godwin. He's 26 years of age from Tampa. Very good player. Probably take Robinson Devontae Adams. Well, that's a different story right there. He's 30, but he's a much better player. Absolutely. That doesn't That's not a shot at Robinson. That's high praise from my seat, at least correct. Don't wanna speak for you, Um will Fuller who's 28? Robby Anderson. Who's 29 Jamison Crowder, who's 29? T Y Hilton, Who's 33? Juju Smith Schuster, who is 26. It does a great podcast. Okay. And the other guys. Emmanuel Sanders, old 35, AJ Green 34. Sammy Watkins is nowhere near the player Allen Robinson is you've been on that podcast was Schuster, though, haven't you? I do David's podcast. I think they're brothers. David. The David Shuster podcast. Um, a guy like Sammy Watkins. Remember, the Bears tried to sign him? Yes, he ended up in Kansas City. And now he's in Baltimore. He's just been one of those. I think he was the guy Buffalo originally traded up in the draft to get believe that's correct and just never quite hit the level. Everyone thought he would. So there's Good players in free agency next year. Antonio Brown, Albert Wilson Breshad Perriman. But at the top of the heap Allen Robinson, other than Devonte Adams and potentially Chris Godwin, he's top three. Yeah, I think that you gave the top three right there. An Allen Robinson Bernie team would be a difference maker would be a difference maker for this team. If if they could get him the ball this season will tell a great story. Want it like he could sign? Whatever. But this season could be The Justin Fields story or the Andy Dalton story. So they give you on spot. Track the contracts and they tell you Market value. What Alan Robinson market value should be. That's fine. Sorry about that. Four years 80.2 million Average salary of 20 point. Oh, 52. That's about right. That's in the ballpark. You're not going to parse over a million. You'd like to make that 20 but say that as you mentioned the Bears offer 18. Fine. Let's go. Would you sign it if you were him? Sure. Sure I want to. There's bonuses attached to that, too, Or is that just I know that's not a flat feet. It's got to be a certain amount of catches touchdowns. I'm sure that's written in as well. There's escalators. I'm sure that deal right? Yes, they don't tell you. They just tell you he's his market value is a $20 million salary every year. Sure. Sure that's fine, And he's a really, really good player doesn't have breakaway speed. He's not the Tyreek Hill, Right, That's a different level player. That's correct. Michael Thomas Different level player, but Is he really, really freaking good? Yes, And we wouldn't know it in the Bears uniform. But yes, I believe that he is. Well, that's the other thing. I was looking at the break at his numbers. Yeah, like he's got really impactful numbers. Quarterbacks were Mitchell Robiskie, Nick Falls and Blake Bortles. Are you going to do so he might say to you? You don't think I'm worth $20 million a year? Do you know the stumble bums have been thrown to me? And I haven't had Like what? Jerry Rice, said John Taylor.

"And I'm not going to him for years. Shanahan was the youngest NFL coordinator in the history of the league was 28 when he got got the job of the Houston Texans when Gary Kubiak was there. And he grew up in this. I've said this about him for years that this isn't a guy who just, you know, um, started doing this. His dad obviously was in this and was very successful, but he grew up around it. And so when you talk about offensive systems He's one of the best. And so trey Lance gets to go there and learn. Under a guy who gets it now. I don't think Trey Lance is as good as Trevor Laurence. When you talk about just the intangible things that we've been saying in arm strength, and you know, you know, arm talent. All the things that Lawrence brings as a quarterback. That's why I went one overall. But with the right coaching He could become that You know, I think about a guy like Sean Payton, who's with the New Orleans Saints. And the past two seasons. I don't you think about this, because this gets back to coaching, and this gets back to where all these quarterbacks ended up. Whether it's Wilson feels Lawrence Lance Mack Jones, He goes to the Patriots. Kyle Trask ends up in Tampa Now he's not gonna see any playing time now because Tom Brady, but he gets to sit behind the go. Not a bad deal, and he gets to be With a guy like Bruce Arians, who knows the quarterback position. And the same strategy in book I don't know if he ends up being their their long term answer. But Sean Payton over the past two seasons. With eight and one when Drew Brees was out. Adjustments. He brought in Taysom Hill. We all made fun. Never gonna be with that guy he wants. Brought in Teddy Bridgewater. Pride of Bridgewater. Going to Carolina. You're never gonna win with Teddy Bridgewater comes in doesn't do anything but win. Now are they better Quarterbacks and Drew Brees? No. But Sean Payton and his willingness to adjust And do things to the strength of the guys that are playing is why they continue to have success. See coaches who don't do though. Those things that are stingy or selfish. You were going to do it this way, and you don't make those adjustments. Those other guys have failed. So in Chicago right now. Their OC is a guy named Bill was our He is a guy that was with the Washington football team. Hey was in Seattle. He was with the Eagles. But Matt Nagy was supposed to be another quarterback guru. But that didn't happen with Mitchell Robiskie. Who's now in Buffalo. It isn't gonna happen with Justin Fields. How are they going to adapt? Bears fans. To.

August Join us on the Goodyear Hotline. Let's bring in General Lasky, our ESPN football analyst, Indio 12 year veteran of the NFL as well as a quarterback and it is draft day Dad and We've been talking about the quarterbacks here and the Chicago situations. Let's bring you in on that conversation. Yes, he's talking about with Mr Boesky, ending up now in Buffalo. He just sees it as a the bear should have just kept him and be. He thinks that your biscuit could be just developed. And wind up just like we're seeing Ryan Tannehill and maybe even what Jamie's Winston and Marcus Mario is doing is that reset somewhere is a backup and then reach your potential elsewhere. What do you think? I don't disagree. You know, I think with touching the Mitchells Robiskie situation, I think the reality is that we have realized that Chicago just wasn't very good at developing a quarterback. Okay, So now he goes to Buffalo two. Keys point. And the thing that has stood out about Josh Allen's progression in Buffalo is how much he has developed how much that organization and coaching staff and player have bought into his own personal development. So it's a great place for Mitch Trip risky to kind of show. My talent is good enough. Have said this for two years. Now, most of these quarterbacks that get drafted into the NFL that our franchise quarterbacks, they don't not make it because they don't have talent. Mitchell Grabowski has talent. They fail because the team the player, the organization does not figure out what their one or two major flaws are. And they don't attack that flaw to make sure that that flaw doesn't hold them back. And Mitchell Drabinsky's was mechanics. His feet were terrible, and they never got better. So if they fix that in Buffalo, he's talented enough to go. All right. Maybe there is this development progression that he can go on now with Chicago. Listen, Listen, This is simple for me tonight for Chicago. You go into this draft anticipating or believing that Andy Dalton does not exist. He doesn't exist. He's not on your football team. Because then that creates urgency. If one of these quarterbacks does start to fall does start to slip just a little bit if a trey Lancer Mack Jones or Justin Fields, and I think it's really trailer Justin Fields That it would be worthy to go get so to speak. If those guys start to fall. You can't sit back if you're Chicago back now, we're good. We got any adult and we don't need to be ultra aggressive yet you do if they start to slip. It isn't it is your responsibility as an organization to go. You know what Here is our chance to go get a talented a talented young player that we can't pass on. So I think that they need to have the mindset that and he's not on the team to create urgency. Then, if interest that's a team like Denver, right, consider these May trade for Teddy. What do you give up? If you're the bears in order to say I need to get in that nine position. Whatever it's necessary. I mean, J and I know that sounds like a lot, man. But dude, you're you are what is more likely that you ride through this season? If you're the general manager in the head coach Matt, Maggie and Ryan face that you ride through the season with Andy Dalton. And somehow you win 10 or 11 games to get to the playoffs and you save your jobs. Or it takes you next year's won this year's, too, and maybe next year's three or something like that to get up to the nine spot. And you get a young, talented player that you could go to organization. You know what we were. We were eight and nine this year, but we saved our jobs because we got this talented quarterback and give us another year with, um what's more likely? I mean, the latter is the more likely situation. So if it costs you things in the future. Help the present. It's worth it. Mm. What would Dan what were? What was your reaction to Teddy Bridgewater being moved from Carolina to the Denver Broncos. I know mine. A player and organizations were put on notice. I think First of all the organizations with that were put on notice where the teams that thought they could hop up to eight or nine to get a quarterback. I don't think you can. I don't think you if your new England if you're Chicago if you're Washington if your Pittsburgh I don't think you can wait. If you're going to go and get a quarterback, you gotta go ahead of eight now because Carolina making the trade, and I love Sam Donald, and I think he's super talented, But I don't believe that Carolina is going to go into the season with just Sam Donald. Okay. I think they're now at least we got a willy player in the quarterback draft market tonight. What? There's Will Greer sitting there. Yeah. So you You gotta believe that they're a player in the quarterback market tonight, Right? So if you're one of those teams you're thinking like man, we gotta go jump ahead of eight now and then I would say the teams 456 and seven are ecstatic. As if if you want a quarterback come get on, you know, like you gotta pay me a premium, and then I believed you. Lock was put on notice to starting quarterback for Denver. Denver's a playoff team. Playoff team with good quarterback play. They have that now and tell you Bridgewater..

Next week and all and Robinson you requested a trade for her date is just If they would do anything that he was starting to worry about. You know, my gosh used to be throwing me the ball is recalling the place more conversation. Happened so far, but I think the Bears wanted the lock him in long term, but below market in Ellen Robinson is smarter than me. And this is a chance to really Eyes on his value when the last time he was in a contract year tour is a CL, so he's not going to take a deal that's gonna be below market. Term where another man, another bite of the apple, and they they never were closed. They're still not closed. The Bears haven't even reached out to him since the season ended one way or another. I think he's done there, I think, like Watson He's ready to really make a statement, even if he is tagged and enforce his way out of Chicago. What's gonna be the market and Alan Robinson to the open market if he is not a member of the Bears? Great, but I do think that what he's Or is what you kind of saw out of Michael Thomas Keenan Allen. You know, even even Julio and obviously DeAndre Hopkins is number one. I mean, those top five guys all got Three year contract. In the what I want to say the 22 22 23 minutes. Range and you know, your your first inclination would be while that that's a lot. He's not until level than us. Mystics it only two players in the NFL have more receiving yards than Alan Robinson the last two seasons. Theater Hopkins Stefan Diggs. Tyler Murray, Josh Alan. Not exactly. You know Nick Foles and in Mitchell's Robiskie, he's had the most contested catches in the NFL the last two years. I think you can have a case to make here. Really be in that ballpark. Mystics, Whether it's the circumstances he was in that that's what he's shooting for. No doubt about. He'll come out and say a number. But in conversation you can kind of figure out what would he want that? You know, 34 year? I would think. Right in that range. Finally tie the passing of Vincent Jackson earlier this week stunned the NFL. There were so many of his former teammates or former players that played against him that we're reaching out on Twitter with their condolences and their prayers and really shocked. So many people who was under 40 years old and he had only been retired a couple of seasons. So now there's some conversation about retired football players depression that sets in substance abuse substance reliance. What are we learning about what Vincent Jackson situation may be talking about or talking to in terms of other retirees around the NFL? I think that these retired players they want to have that conversation. They want that help and they need it. Um, you know, and we are talking a lot about Petey and trying to make the game safer and that that's all good. But I think that conversation just about mental health needs to be had more with these retired players, because I mean you're part of a locker and you're part of a brotherhood is your identity. It's who you are. It's It's all of that. And then when that's just stripped away, I think a lot of players really struggled. You just adapt Tol new life, a new lifestyle. I mean, they're not here. Not in that locker room anymore. And so many players really rough. Compare it almost too. It's being in a battlefield being in a war on, you know you hate compared to anything the war but it is. It is tough to re assimilate. I think outside of the game, especially with this sport that is so violent that is so brutal. I don't know what this in Jackson situation, but I do know some people that have talked to him relatively recently, and they're pretty shook by it, and they've kind of gone through some similar mental issues. And I don't know what the answer is. I mean, maybe it's counseling it. It's gotta be putting money toward Something to help these guys because, sadly, it's It's probably not going to be the last sad case. We we've seen out of retired player. "Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. You throw them all you could have any one of them. In their prime for one Sunday afternoon and win a game. Are you taking Aaron Rodgers? Would deeply consider it seriously. Consider it I will tell you that Tom Brady is the greatest winner of my lifetime. And I think sometimes can be weirdly underrated because I think people like to hate champions and Tom Brady's awesome I still think weekend and weak out. Peyton Manning is the greatest quarterback of my lifetime, and I'm approaching my mid thirties here. What? Aaron Rodgers has to be right there, man. Our Rogers has been unbelievable of times. So the reason Dominic Fox, what brings this up? Aaron Rodgers could win another M V p this year. Stack another one of those if he could get to a Super Bowl and dare I say, win a second Super Bowl, And now he gets that ring. Count up to two Now you could start really having those conversations where people would look at your side. I'd if you'd rather take our Rogers on one Sunday when he's barroom debates over a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Look, I Roger gonna Hall of Fame. There's no doubt about it. What if Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers Have home field advantage this year in this postseason, and what is home field? You say without fans? I get that. But if they go and they are the one seed In an NFC as they said, it's full of a lot of paper. Michele, Let's call it And they fall short. Your head. They lose to the Bears Sunday, Mitchell's Robiskie and they love the Saints to get the ones they'd be really disappointed, too. What? The Packers three times Since they've been a superb in the attitude championship game in Los they can't They gotta win the NFC Championship this year. The energy is aligned where they are, like it or not the most complete team Aaron Jones on the ground. They've Davante Adams at wide receiver. Their defense could still get after rush the passer, But are they perfect? So I think they're necessarily as good as the Chiefs know. Get to the chief justice, the biggest machine but in the NFC The Packers, the best team, the NFC. And coming up short and not getting to the Super Bowl this year, at least, having that chance to stare the Chiefs in the eye. Would be a colossal disappointment. And I actually think the Packers, not making the Super Bowl this year, is opposed to making it. I think that more harm could be done to Aaron Rodgers reputation that mortgage would help them because I think people will still looking him in the Hall of Famer all time champion and I know that could put him over the top winning a second ring getting to the Super Bowl, but You fall short again in a year where the Packers have drafted a quarterback, and Rogers played an EVP level, but ultimately you can't get it done again and NFC championship game when you're clearly the best team in the conference. Or that that rep starts to take a hit. When you debate Aaron Rodgers with Peyton Manning with Tom Brady, How does it not? No Pete, Man against that is share a plate playoff struggles. I get that. But this is an important post season for our Rogers. And it really starts week 17 because the Bears are playing for everything. And I know that the bears we kind of laughed at them because they have been so awful to watch him Something's primetime games. But that offenses playing pretty good right now I know we've we've poured cold water. Laura Mitchell too busy for a long time. Literature. Biscuit might be that back getting hot at the right time, which is the weirdest thing to say. You better go take care of business, the Green Bay Packers and get that one seed. Rest up in that by Because this is an important post season for and Rogers and the Green Bay Packers need to make sure and find themselves in the Super Bowl this year, and I'm sure the New Orleans Saints of saying the same thing could be true breezes last year. But this is a big time spot for our Rogers and boys. We got Rogers and breeze in NFC Championship game when any of us be disappointed, Heck, no. Technology. In fact, I'd argue were rooting for it. All right, we come back. Another Seth Cantor update. Plus, we usually do a tasty top five for college football. When we give you a tasty top five with the NFL week 17 games to kind of set the tables.
