"Joe Flacco against Mitch trubisky. Is Wilson never coming back? Can he come back already? Maybe Wilson could be Wilson trubisky next week, possibly. Yeah. I have steelers by three. I kind of like the jets. I get this too. Wait, nope. Oh no, you got it. I said four and a half. It's three and a half. You get that one. We're tied down. I like the jets. Oh man, that's a bad game. That's just bad. Like you said, bad quarterback, bad game. What are we going to get lucky with scoring there? And Garrett Wilson got hurt in that game today, right? He did a little bit. I thought it got hurt during that game. Jets fans can't have nice things. Yeah, the screaming at everything, the jets fans at the screen. Wait, what's the over on that? There's one bet to make. 41 and a half. Go under there. I'm just not betting over under his ever again. I should just think I should bet the over and go the other way. Today, it was like, oh my God, that's gonna be 70 points. Yeah, after last week, I got to stay away from the Pittsburgh on there for sure. Okay. Giants hosting the bears. Poop fact that are four and one between them. Possibly 5. But Daniel Jones against Justin Fields, automatic poop. I have a giant spy three. All right, you get it, damn it. It's exactly three. I said three and a half. So you have to lead going into the night games. I mean, the bear is literally could be one of these teams could be three in one coming out of this game or will be three in one coming out of this game. Oh, my God. You're right. Even if you beat the Giants, we still have to have a three in one team after this. Crazy. Honestly, I had the bears pencil for three wins all year. I thought they'd be three and 14. Sunday night chiefs at bucks. Mike Evans will be back, not sure about Godwin. Julio Jones, he's like Sammy Watkins. He's like, all right, Julio, stop playing. I can't believe it. What a shocker. Right. I really thought he was going to make it out of September. I have the chief's favorite. You're right about that. And I think it's going to be the chiefs by two. I said to also, it's two and a half. You have the one game lead going into the last game, and I have, I was nailing the last. What do we expect for this KC tap? Both coming off losses. This is weird. I like the bucks defense. I think this is every year there's

"People respect the falcons, but I think they should. Here's the thing with them. If they're down ten, they can go get a cheap touchdown with three minutes left. I like these underdogs that you know that they're not going to just score 9 points, like the jets. The jets today. Right. Where they could just be bad and Flacco could have four turnovers and that's it. The offensive stifled from the start. Oh, that browns thing. I know you were bragging about not being on that bad lateral play at the end, but I just I wasn't bragging. I was so happy. I wasn't involved. Well, your friend Sal was involved. I had to go there on a tease or in other people at the Steelers on a teaser. And it's just disgraceful. We talked about like having blackjack insurance. You know when they say insurance and you actually get mad at the dealer for you insurance. Like, yeah, just flip over the Jack of diamonds and what you've done here. So I would take it every time because on that play. Kick off lateral insurance? Yeah, I mean, it can't be even odds, right? But you have to, it just has nothing to do with the game. It sucks so bad. It's as if it's as if they said, okay, everyone's bets are good, but we're going to do one more thing. We're going to let a lion on the field and to lion eats the football. And everybody loses. It's nothing to do with anything. I hate it so much. It should be worth like, yeah, you're right, like two points. That's 6. It's so funny as fantasy implications. It ruined teases. In that case, it ruined the Steelers seats. Now, that we're looking to, they never went up field. It's like hot potato immediately. I'm like, oh, this ball's definitely hitting the turf, and it's going to be gobbled up in the end zone. Here would be my counter. Did you put Mitch trubisky in a tease? No, no, I had the under. In fact. Count my money there. That's terrible. I'm sorry. I'm with you with the Steelers being a bottom 5 team. But I also don't think the browns are two in one and really could be three now. Well, the Steelers are the team this year where the wide receivers run in the ball sales ten feet over his head and he just stops running and all the life sinks from his body and he kind of has that like he just got a parking ticket. There was Arizona was that team that one year when the after Kurt Warner, like every year there's that one theme where the quarterback is just so unreliable, the receivers know it and they're making business decisions over the middle. Like if they know the safety's coming, they'll just stuck out. They're just like fuck this. I want to keep playing. The thing with Tomlin and great. All right, that's quite an achievement. You've never gone under 500, but this is the first year he has a quarterback. Controversy, and he's not handling it, right? He's like, under no circumstances am I putting Kenny Pickett is like, really, you have it if trubisky and I feel like you and I hung on the trubisky longer than most people. If he's not going to run the ball, who needs his 14 for 21 for one 80, whatever it is, without a touch that, right? With his two picks. Yeah, you can get there anywhere with anybody. Yeah, he's stubborn. It's like our cousin Jimmy, when you get in Texas arguments with Jimmy and he said, no, that's not what it was. And you're just presenting him evidence. He's like, no. That's it. He has a press conference after every show. Yeah.

"That kid walked in and we were going to throw him a beer. That was his reaction. Joe Flacco beat them. Oh, Joe Flacco is way better than Mitch McConnell. Oh, listen to you. I'm not kidding. He's way better, Kyle. He looked away. No. He's way better than the midstream biscuit. He beats the browns. He's like 9 two against the browns. He has something for them. But liked every week. It's better than Mitch trubisky. You don't understand what you'll see at all. No, it's not the highlights. It's the day to today the fans were chanting. I don't know if you know this. They were chanting for Kanye Pickett in the fourth quarter. But all right, it's not 6. So you love the brand. I would tell you this. It will be 6. I had trouble this week. And usually I just put a plus or minus who I think is going to be favored. I can only actually do it for 5 teams without thinking about it. You're going to beat me. I'm up one nothing, but enjoy the win. Sunday marquee game. You think I'm going to put bucks packers here. I did not. I think builds the offense is the marquee game. It's a game I'm the most excited to watch. I think it'll be a lot of offense on both sides. Little AFC east, size each other up, and I can't wait, I have the bills by four in Miami. I'm leaving the window open here. I said three, it's four and a half. Little high, little older, not. No, that's about right. Yeah. But we'll see tomorrow because the bill should thrash. It's on the road. And Miami, yeah. That's the thing. I'm telling you, man, if it's human again, in Miami and you got Tyreke and wobble. Run around doing stuff. Yeah. Not great. The watchable. So

"Think it's problematic. He was healthy last season. He played great. They relied on him to do all the carries. I think they're going to split it up a little bit more this season. And I think they're going to probably not have as much efficiency and going to go up against many more heavy boxes this year than last year. And injury factor two. You like that one house? Yep. I do. Of course. You know, in general, I mean, we know this every year, but just betting under on player props is usually the road home because they're always skewed because everybody likes going over and I would love to see an experiment. House, maybe you're the one who should do it. Just somebody betting 25 player unders. I feel like you would go like 15 and ten. Nobody wants to do it. It's like in America and just be like, I am rooting for failure, but I'm willing to do it. Can I borrow some money? All right. We'll talk after. What's your next player prop sharp? Okay, the next one is another under. I do have one over, but this one's another under. And this is breece hall rushing yards under 8 30 and a half. Look, it's Ben bent down, but it's been at 8 30 for like three weeks now. And I do not like what I see out of breece hall. He's averaging -.37 EPA per rushing attempt. He gained in the preseason. 2.1 yards per carry. He's getting hit behind the line of scrimmage far 12th and he takes too long to get going. And I think a large part of like the high expectations for hall was that the thought that they drafted him, what like 35th overall something like that, 36th overall. He was going to come in and be like the de facto number one guy for this team. But that's not even the case. They've got multiple backs there. Breece hall is not going to be the starter. And I just think it's going to be very difficult for him to get close to 830 rushing yards. I think on fando at one point, he might have been number two in offensive rookie of the year. And now he's dropped. He's 5th. I really, I'm so impressed with pierce on Houston. And I watched the preseason that first drive, but I've also been following. I've been a psycho with preparations here. He just has it. You can tell from the stores and stuff, like the coach, say he just gave him the starting job in the first week. He was like, this guy's gonna be our starting running back. All the stories from camp are like, this guy's incredible. He's 16 to one for rookie of the year house. That's fine. I'm in it. I have already spent money. I watched George pickens play one quarter of football and immediately jumped into that market. He's 9 to one. Yeah, that jumped. He is what a beautiful athlete. Holy cow, knock my socks off. So I had to get in on a little George pickens, but goddamn Pittsburgh. Every fucking time. This is 20 years of them just pulling out wide receivers of the second. That may not happen in the future, but yeah, they are Kevin Colbert was just so good at identifying herself. Nobody has ever been better at a random skill than Pittsburgh grabbing receivers. What's your fourth prop shark? My fourth prop real quick though, you said you've been a psycho with your preparation. I want to know how did consuming my 564 page book go for you on your iPad, not printed? Did you get through it in electronic format? Way better on the iPad. House and I are old and we don't read books anymore. I read on my electronic devices. To me, the book, the schedule rest stuff is the most important stuff. That has actually really changed the way that I prepare for the season. I've factored that. I have a separate graphic. I'll get this over to you. I did every single team in every single week and what the rest edge that is that week. So you can use it as a converter to be on that. That rest edge thing is just like unassailably effective year after year. There's no question. Here's one thing. Here's one thing I was going to do though because I want the listeners that your pod to be able to get a chance to look at the book, but there's no way they're going to be able to get through that thing in a much time because the season starts really soon. So I was going to give it to them for just $1. That way they're not wasting their money. If you go to the streets, if you go to sharp football analysis and enter code, let's say, Bill, I haven't done it yet. To be able to code BS. Okay, the code will be BS, just type in BS and you get it for a dollar. That way you don't feel bad that you got it so close to the season and you wasted $30 or whatever. Yeah, skim it. Take a couple of bathtubs with it. Bring in the tub. Just put your reading glasses on and zoom through it, like house does. You sure you can't make the code Mac Jones sucks. Are you sure you do that? That's not going to be the code. Yes, you missed, you missed. We shorted the Pats at the top. Oh, wow. All right. Bill was very objective about it, too. That was very past those. I am objective on my teams when it's warranted. And in this case, this patriots are not going to be good this year. Unfortunately, Kyle is just going to, I know it's killing him, but there's just not a huge case. Hopefully he's going to be keeping the stuff on me if the Patriots end up being good. He's definitely not going to stop hearing it for me. I would love for them to surprise us. What's your fourth prop show? Let me go to the last one. The last the tenth of ten, the fourth player prop, and this is an over. So we get a little bit of optimism cortland Sutton receiving yards over 900 and a half. I looked at this, sir. And here's my logic on this. I bet this as soon as they lost Tim Patrick. And when I look at drew lock and drew lock out of 33 quarterbacks the last two years, he ranked 33rd inaccuracy 33rd in completion rate, 32 in success rate, 30 and EPA basically like bottom 5 in every other statistical category. So I'm not going to share the rest of them. We know that Russell Wilson tailed off some in his career. However, before he heard his finger, I don't think people realize he was the number one quarterback in the NFL in yards per attempt last year before he heard his finger of the mallet finger on his throwing hand. Number one in EPA per attempt. Number one in completion rate, number one in passer rating. Number three most touchdown passes. Now you look at what has Russell Wilson's receivers done in Seattle. The last two years, his top two receivers cleared this with ease.

"In all likelihood, I don't think he's getting on the TB 12 diet or whatever they do, not getting the mat. Not getting the magic pajamas and doing it that way. But yeah, if you came to me and you said Connor, you're awful at writing now. Please stop writing. For Sports Illustrated. And then I said, no, I'm gonna call your boss and I'm just gonna keep writing for sport. Well, you know, I don't know. It doesn't exactly translate because there's plenty of readers say that I'm awful at writing for Sports Illustrated. I did not have as recognizable of a high period as Ben Roethlisberger did. But I don't know, it doesn't something inside of you, just be like, okay, yeah. Kevin Colbert told me it's time to go. It's probably time to go. I don't know, maybe the Tom Brady thing just got everyone a little hot and bothered. Like, got everyone thinking they could play a little bit longer than they should have. I don't know, but I can't help but imagine like, God, how much better that would have been for the franchise to almost punt on last year when the Bengals get white hot and you're like, okay, whatever. And the browns end up going with deshaun Watson. And then you could just get in, God, can you imagine if they had Russell Wilson on that team? Or I don't know. Someone else? Even year two of Mitch trubisky would be better than year one of miss trubisky, right? Yes. It would have to be. Yeah, that is true. Who could they have drafted? Could they have drafted anybody last year? No, because they didn't have a first round pick, right? Is that true? Who do they make? Fitzpatrick? No. Isn't that the big benefit? No, they took a nanji Harris in the 2021 first round. Oh, that's right. That's right. Yeah. They could have, they could have been in striking distance for Justin Fields or Mac Jones. Right. They could have moved up for Mac Jones. Yeah. He would have been good there. That's true. It's all true. I like what I've already made my point and you're ready for me to move on and you're just like, yeah, you're right. And I just keep going. Davis mills. Another guy that they could have had. And then we'd be how steelers he is, Davis mills. He'd be wondering if Davis mills could play in another city. Yes. Yeah. Yeah, Ben Roethlisberger was exactly last year. What I think everyone expected and in a way feared he would be. And of course he didn't have another alternative on the roster. But that's just, that's the way it goes. Yeah, call your boss call the owners folks if you're mad. But only if you had a really successful early career. Yeah, that's true. Another reason why I can't do that. But yeah, for me, I don't think the quarterback situation got ironed out. We'll see what Kenny Pickett becomes. Maybe there's something there, but, you know, we have the conversation a couple of years a couple of years ago, a couple of weeks ago when Charles McDonald was on the show. I think Davis mills is better than Kenny Pickett. I think if Davis mills was in this draft, you take him over Kenny Pickett, and I don't think Davis mills is a sure fire starter. So that's kind of where they are. Yeah, I like your bubbling love affair with Davis mills. This is quickly, you know. It's not a love affair. I just think he's in two years he's gonna be Jacoby percent for you.

"And they were a bad defense. They were really, really, really problematically bad around him. Part of it was the injuries up front. They do get Tyson alalu back. They add Larry ogun Joby one of my favorites to this defensive line. So maybe that fixes it, but they were really, really bad against the run. And I don't want to overstate run defense, but that has never happened to the sealers. They had the worst season of franchise history as far as yards allowed per rushing attempt. And it was just a really weird year where they were probably a 5 or 6 win team that ended up making their way into the postseason in very strange ways. So yeah, I really, I don't know where to place a seam. I could see them being competitive in every game and getting to ten or 11 wins. I could also see them being a 401k this year. And I really don't like either of the quarterbacks. They are deciding between right now, but I also didn't like Roethlisberger last year. So I wanted to find a way to bring this up because the Ben Roethlisberger retirement in general just sort of, I feel got lost in that thicket of news around that time that it was happening. They weren't a particularly explosive team, interesting team, whatever it was, but he told Ron cook of the Pittsburgh post gazette a couple of weeks ago. The general manager didn't want me back last year. He told me that. But I called the owner and the owner was like, yeah, you should come back. And if you're a quarterback, don't you have to recognize that when one of the best general managers in the league is like, I really don't think you should come back here. And then it's like, now I'm going to call your boss and I'm just going to have a year where I go do whatever I want for me. What a self incredibly selfish thing to do. They would have been so much, how much better off would they have been this year? Maybe this is year two of Mitch trubisky, you don't even have to draft Kenny Pickett. Or, I don't know, maybe you're in first place in the Russell Wilson sweepstakes. I would want to go to Pittsburgh. If I was a quarterback, wouldn't you? Yes. I think that's the question. Would they have been able to go out and get someone last off season? I don't think they were going to get someone this off season, who they would have been pleased with. And everybody was spoken for this off. But frankly, if you're Ben Roethlisberger and you're looking at last year's depth chart, you'd be like, well, I'm better than mason Rudolph, 'cause he is. But you know, do they end up getting into the running for another quarterback? And that's the question. And I don't know. I think guys should play until they really feel like they're done because you can't really reverse it. Yeah, we've been rosenberger walked away last year. He's not coming back in like two years.

"That could only happen to the lions that way. They should've called the delay of game pushing out of field goal range and and then they would have been a hail mary. Nothing but Yeah it was just a lot of weird scenes. E-e-eh like justin tucker doing his sort of wild victorious. Run around the field. Which i don't know it was. It was a weird scene. Weird scene after really laws. Right heading out to cleveland where the browns just completely smush the bears in just fields first career start and look i the connor. Your browns guy. I did not think the cleveland browns looked particularly sharp. Offensively in this one but Defensively this was a complete overwhelming of the bears lineup front and it kind of raises the question. Okay just feels naveh chance in this one. Would anyone have had a chance in this one or young or maybe a better way to approach how they were going to attack this browns defense here. This game. stunned me in terms of Matt nagy in general. Like i i've never like vacillated so much On my opinion of one person as a coach at back and forth as i do with bat. Nagy like sometimes like wow. He took mitch trubisky to the playoffs twice. He's a good coach. Wait until he gets a good player but then in a game like this. It's like a. How could you start. Justin fields because We talked about this last week. I think he got a lot of flak for saying that. Andy dalton mrs starter and i think we recognize our role is like a collective body of press in saying that like we were probably initially some of the people that rolled our eyes at this because justin feels really talented. But there's a reason he did that right in because the offensive line can block anybody. They can't sustain blocks And they're gonna get consistently beat off the edge and so why wouldn't you have played. Nick foles like that that to me should have been one a and one b is if you're playing justin fields y you running the same offense. That doesn't make any sense to me either. Like why don't you. Accentuate some of the things that can get him out of the pocket and play on the pressure. Like we've seen some coaches who designed things assuming that people are going to jet upfield and destroy. Your left tackles in right tackle But then you punish them for that so then you kind of put them on their heels. A little yeah. When fields was forced into action last week it seemed as though they didn't really have a game plan ready to go for him..

Bruins Beat

"So Cassie's mentioned multiple times that he's the third line left winger. I think you need to keep him in that spot. That's where he's most comfortable. That's where he's generating the most production. So even if it's not a top 6 roll with creatine out. If he's able to give you 1520 goals in that third line, add some much needed secondary scoring. It's a good opportunity for him, and if he plays well, one raises his stock for a new contract next year. And you look at how important that role is, it's not a top 6 role like it was in years past, but you're still a very important piece of this team on the third line. You need as much as and howler intriguing candidates using the guy who they can bury the puck and add secondary scoring. And most like it's going to fall into rust kind of fill that role in that third line that as intriguing as it is, we really don't know that much about right now, how they're going to function. Yes, what makes you a little apprehensive with the brusque? Because obviously you mentioned kind of setting the bar low for a good season from this year. It's tough after last year because I really thought in 1920 that was his quote unquote down here. And I said, well, you know, he's on a bridge deal. He's gonna fight back so hard. Have a much better year in 20 21. And it didn't happen. And obviously the circumstances you mentioned with COVID and the having to basically isolate yourself all the time. Don't exactly help. And definitely will be something that will be lifted off from this year. But I just, it's apprehensive, you know, I remember had some about it in a sense. Can I really pencil him down for certainly a bounce back? I mean, again, you look at just this page 5 goals, 14 points, 41 games. I expect him to have a lot more than that. And again, a lot more as you said his 15 goals, 20 goals. And even just being noticeable. I mean, how many times last year, did you finish covering a game? And you think to yourself, oh yeah, Jake depressed. Did you first played? Like you almost didn't notice him using visible out there. So he's one that I'm a little apprehensive about. You know, after my big prediction last year, a little upright spot on this year. Another thing was Mercer and Jimmy, old friend of the show tweeted, what would NHL on Nick look like? And I thought I had a pretty accurate tweet about this. I said Jake de brusque has MVP written all over him. Jake rusk would be like the prototypical Nickelodeon most valuable player or whatever that is. We gave Mitch trubisky. Absolutely could see Jake breastfeeding like slimed or like loving it, you know?.

"Head coaching job. Callum erred number one. Pick nice house to the first year. They go five ten in one right not so good. Next year they go eight but they started the year last year five and two playoff hopes but they finished three three and six right so this year you look at who they brought in free agency you brought over. Jj watt to pair it with taylor jones which are draft pigs avian collins to go as and then you have bhutto baker who you just paid a lot of money in the secondary right. You look at the office side of the ball you have. Dr dri hopkins aj green. You have to stores looking good. Yeah the pressure is on cliff kingsbury. He's supposed to be offensive guru. So i'm waiting to see what the arizona cardinals gonna do. Because if they don't do it this year they won't do it at all. Toughest footballers stephen here for this. But i'm going to go with dallas. Mike mccarthy got to get out of jail free card last year because what was going on the quarterback position but the problems on that team. That train wreck went way beyond the quarterback position. I think he's on the hot seat. I also think deck is under a ton of pressure not because of the contract but because this defense has sold many holes. He's going to have to carry the team. Everybody knows this is a winnable division if they don't win it there's going to be a lot of questions in dallas under pressure that they'll blame mccarthy defense one when so many years to get the money he just got the bag and excuses are built in for years now. They don't have a defense name offensive line. Didn't return to hell as car. Repairs are exchanged. There's going to be deck under fire if you're spot on. Whether or not he succeeds. That'll be the case to the divisional round of the playoffs last year. Yeah i'm going with this one all right once upon a time mitch. Trubisky was drafted by the chicago. Bears with the number two overall pick. We all know how that turned out. Mitch was back in chicago on saturday playing with his new team. The buffalo bills trubisky balled out against bear stearns for two hundred twenty one yards and a t deep meana. Kind tell me what did you think of trubisky's return to the shy because we know they traded the farm to get him initially. Yeah i thought he did a great job of what he's done for a long time which is make bears fans feel miserable but more importantly if i'm a bears fan and watching that i'm not just upset about trubisky who had a great game. I'm upset that my head coaches matt nagy and not brian cabell the bills offense coordinator like how the heck is this dude. Not a head coach in the nfl. Right now. mitch played well. But he also had wide open receivers. You saw all the modern things that make good. Nfl offense is great. Brian cabell is a wizard he fixed. Mitch trubisky me. The first thing. I thought about this i said okay. Is it the system in chicago or is a system in buffalo. That group and i have to go to the system in buffalo is just that much greater than the system is chicago when you talk about jets zach wilson and the situation. Obviously like you know. Alex smith in the beginning this offensive coordinator after offense coordinator you get some stability does great baker mayfield. Four different head coaches in two seasons in a game. He looks like a bust all of a sudden. He's pretty good. If you look at josh allen to your point about buffalo. Meena josh allen every year. He gets twice as good as he was the year before his his touchdowns go up double his interceptions cut in half. Every year his qbr goes up. Ten points completion. Ten points every year and that can actually absolutely have a profound effect on a quarterback. I would pump the brakes on thinking. Trubisky is the next hill. Though i i've seen a lot of me that makes me. We didn't see like twenty seconds. Left but i asked the guys earlier. Would you start fields yes or no of your chicago or you or you. Starting with john. I would just get him. The rap someone's like aaron donald face mild guarantee weeks. He's going to have to at some point just getting going line. You must love. Decimal girl mean. We'll see on. Nfl live gets up..

"Espresso much. The additional coffee compares interestingly his offensive coordinator anthony lynn. I don't think he drinks coffee at all. So imagine being like a person who doesn't drink coffee like you guys are and you're going to work and the head coach is like chugging all this coffee would you feel ill by that interesting. Question is to ask. Gary and i often feel lake because you're a coffee drinker jenny. It's like racing someone on steroids. When we're doing this podcast. Being judged show shows revealing a lot of new information can connor. And i need those glasses with the is on them. So a little mini naps says. We will micro sleeps us. We go connor. I don't know how. We got hired by peter though because because neither restoring although i feel like what peter drinks is more like candy version right different would it lacks in actual coffee. It would make up for in like high-fructose corn syrup and all the other things that would theoretically cause you to be jittery right. Yeah such right right so yeah could be comparable that. That's good connor but In terms of volume of liquid. Dan campbell's having a lot more so potentially needs a of bathroom breaks. I hope he has one of those head coach offices where their own personal side of your office. A lot of coaches have that. Hopefully dan campbell. Does get it in the contract jenny. Would you like to go next. Okay i will. I will shift gears a little bit here. I picked justin fields seems like early reports on his performance at training camp. Then good although as we know that doesn't necessarily mean a lot but clearly he holds a lot of significance for the bears franchise. It is ryan paces. Second chance at drafting a quarterback in the first round. They traded up to get him and it was a really smart move because people were like are the bears going to. Just stand pat with andy. Dalton is this their quarterback in the draft. They saw an opportunity to go up and get fields and they made a move for a player that many thoughts should have been the third quarter back off the board so but a lot is riding on this for paces future for nagy's future. How long will they get to show. Can they develop fields. Was this a hits. Where mitch trubisky wasn't so there's a lot of interesting things but you know. The bears built a defense right that could contend for a championship. And as we talk about all the time. The shelf life for defenses. Gary's point that i'm stealing isn't that long so you bring in all these talented playmakers and they made the playoffs. But you know weren't in a position to contend much farther than that given their quarterback situations. So ken justin feels that guy. And how quickly can he get there..

"We'll get to that in a little bit. Dj charq marvin jones. Junior laviska shenault all and tomb tibo. I want to point out that he started with james robinson because he had an last year like a hundred percent. That's why he some guy. Yeah that's not where you start with those weapons. But he was on us. Rb seven like i would start there regardless if i had them or not. But what do you think. He does in year. One with those weapons. And it's a quarterback friendly offense. There's quite a few weapons there. But as far as i guess unclear what you're asking what does he do he throws the ball to them scrambling around the pocket. Obviously answer he throws some good good. Thank you for that Where'd you think he finishes quarterback ranking quarterback to like fifteen to twenty somewhere in there. I was going to be a little higher. Say between twelve and fifteen and as because of his rushing upside. He adds that that. A lot of those quarterbacks in that range don't so that's why i think he falls their. How's it going to feel for him to lose a game though. Yeah week one like this three. No since like high schoolers never lost in highschool. He hasn't lost our regular season game. Hasn't lost well. yeah week one. Sorry sir sorry trevor. i'm a little higher on trevor lawrence and you guys are for me. I compared to kind of like joe burrow last year. I was super high on him. When you look at the college stats obviously college stats. Don't always translate. But they did for joe burrow and i think they will for trevor lawrence in forty college football games. He threw for over ten thousand yards ninety touchdowns in only seventeen interceptions in like you said with the rushing piece. He had seventeen rushing touchdowns over his last twenty five games. So i can see trevor lawrence finishing between ten and twelve range. So you're drafted him for your starting running or quarterback. I mean i normally target quarterbacks relatively early so. I don't think i'm going to be in that situation. But if you stack you're running backs and wide receivers and tight end and you end up with trevor lawrence as a result. I think you could definitely do worse. A see the appeal. I have him kind of similar to like jalen hurts all right. Let's let's move onto the pick number. Two zack wilson with the new york. Jets matt she got some fun facts. Let's let's hear him. Well actually only have any fun facts. But i do have some wild player comparisons. I've already seen mahomes. Rogers in joe montana. Obviously some of the best quarterbacks of all time so his expectations are already way too high in my opinion but he does have the ability to improvise when the pocket collapses he makes them incredible offers balance throws. I think that's a big reason why he's been compared to those guys who is. He looks like he's sixteen. Now say prom night. Does he looks like a little kid. But also you know scott compared to all those guys and you know. Do the same thing where improvised through the back shoulder whatever was mitch trubisky and drew lock heart of those work jury still out but then let good. That's why like you always get these huge comparisons because everybody is so optimistic and wants their guy to do well but they really never pan out yeah. So what's a realistic year. One expectation of zack wilson. For zack. wilson. I'm definitely lower on him that i was with trevor lawrence. I think. Zack wilson is gonna finish mid to low quarterback to he does have some good weapons though Corey davis jamison crowder denzel. Men's they drafted elisa more the rookie out of ole miss and the second round who i really really like..

"We are usually bears fans. What are they gonna do. I mean they're going to have never been draft person i. I don't follow college football. So maybe that's why. I don't i don't get into it. No i'm the same. I don't i never get into it. I mean if. I know. I don't even know who the top prospects are if i know the top prospects. I want to see who they go to. And i want to see if the bears are in play for any of those most likely not know even if they are in play they will probably trade that pick for a different one for worse for mitch. Trubisky that's what they will do. The pass up on patrick mahomes in grab of mitch trubisky. Yeah but you know maybe mahomes would have sucked if he was on that bears instead of being like one of the best of. That's really positive outlook. I appreciate the positivist shift. Still a think like new seasons it is. I don't have bravo so i don't get to watch it anymore and it's only bravo. That's like a satellite channel to buy it separately. The red rocket is going to lead the bears to an impressive seven. Nine seven nine record. I mean that's not true but it's fun to think about. I mean even seven and nine is fun to think. I'm impressed by some nine. So don't nobody is It's not a thing but yeah there's a lot of things going on at the sports world turns out. We are not a sports podcast. They beat the steelers that who lost his mind at the end of the game. Avante says birth. Yeah i mean not always him yeah. Do they win that game. No i thought they lost loss of what he did. They were about to win or about. Yeah they were beaten this deal. They finally won the playoff game. Yeah and then. That happens right in front of marvin lewis right exactly. Joey came out that old thing. This yeah nine. A- team at a lot issues for a long time what does he gets to go out there and try to prove everybody wrong in chicago quarterback hell land in chicago. I know that's why i was like there's just no way that russell wilson's going there just impossible. I last week on the warm up show. I think maybe two weeks ago. When over the list of quarterbacks that the bears have had and like the longest tenured quarterback al. Do you remember what it was. Was it four years for the longest tenured. Quarterbacks grossman he might have been one of them. Yeah like because everybody always makes fun of the browns than japanese has. Has that list of quarterbacks with the browns but the bears have a very similar situation yeah. Cutler is probably there for clues to couple years but even going back to the eighty five bears. Jim mcmahon was the quarterback for a decade. He wasn't in on he was in and out in a few years. It's been hell been held for them trying to think of some other. Really big chad. Hutchinson member chad hudson there for a little bit but again a very small sample size. I'm going real quick break. Matt barkley play there for a little bit. Let's see here. But the so jim harbaugh was another one who had been there a while. But then when you look at how many games they actually played. Yeah there's no consistency and hasn't been for like the entire. I think we went back to. What the nineteen fifties like selectmen. Or something i forget some of that drafted patrick mahomes or shawn watson mitch trubisky. That's true very good woman. He's now the bill says he's backing up right correct. So yeah if you look just quickly if you look at where we twenty twenty one trubisky has been there for the last four years i find cutler one two three four five. "So i still think something else will happen whether it's making a big trade going for a top draw prospect in the draft. I really just don't think they can go into this season with only any wrong. Now don did say that the bears told him he is the starter and he said that was one of the reasons why he came to chicago. Which is concerning for sure. But at the end today anything can happen We need to see see how things play out. A lot of other decisions still be made in free agency. But if the bears go into the twenty twenty one season with the anti dalton and nick foles quarterback competition heading into camp. I think it'd be devastating. It would honestly be be funny given the history of the bears. But i just can't see ryan pace in matt nagy keeping their jobs. After bringing those two quarterbacks forward for the twenty twenty one season so this is why. I just can't see that being the solution. Because ryan pace and matt nagy. I dunno might just have too much faith in them. But they can't be that ignorant they knew this fan reaction was coming. They know they're on the hot seat. Following the eight new year limping into the playoffs last year ryan pace on the last year of his contract. If they try out those two fans will religious. Start to turn to a point where you just can't come back in. Let's say the bears fans won't show up and won't be passionate next year. But i don't know i just think you're going to start to have a serious turn From the entire chicago fan base for those two guys. Matt nagy and ryan pace. If you bring back those quarterbacks and that's the type of football we were watching. So i think the bears needed draft. Someone if no other deals are made him agency just to give some sort of sliver of hope to bears. Fans you could trade up to get trae lance mack. Jones those guys could still be available at around the ten to fifteen range. They're picking twentieth in the draft but one quarterback that's always projected to go. Hi always falls a little bit. So we've to see how that plays out and really just can't if they go into the season with nick foles and i can't see the ryan pace in that night you returning. It'd be too moralizing. I could see the bears finding a way to maybe win. Nine games But i can't see any don an any. Don't let team making the super bowl. You also have to note that. Andy dalton in the playoffs is over. Four with one touchdown and six interceptions. That's just those are just not good numbers. And is it. If it's an upgrade from sales and mitch trubisky. I think it is but the update is slim if any so not really the ground big breaking quarterback decision that you want to see a being made by ryan pace. And here's another reason. Why can't see ryan pace returning after after next year. If that's the quarterbacks that he brings back. Look at the quarterbacks that ryan paces brought since in his tenure in chicago i e traded for mike. Glennon i was a failure. He traded up risking a lot of capital for mitch trubisky. That was a bust. He signed nick. Foles took his big contract traded for nick foles and he was awful last year and now any dalton so mike glennon mitch trubisky nick foles and don. I can't lie that just over four. And i don't know if you can really trust ryan pace to evaluate the quarterback position moving forward. I know i can't. I know my faith is in high. But that's the thing when you're going to get back to the draft is do you trust ryan pace to make that right decision in the draft. I don't know if i do. And i don't think bears fans thank you so overall the worst decision but the timing and the choice of of the quarterback it could be better so the bears. They need to get quarterback while they gear up for the rest of free agency and obviously seem like. They're going to move on from nick. Foles mitch trubisky mitch. Trubisky is gone. I'm gonna get into that in buffalo. The bears needed to have some sort of value at the quarterback position heading into the rest of free agency and whether that's putting dalton a package to make a trade or just having a more appealing destination for other players. I don't know. They took their swing russell. Wilson and seattle wouldn't buzz budge. They did everything they could in that facet and then when you look at all the rest of options it's any don and the rest of the field. There's not the differences. Aren't too big so i don't i don't see the point in getting totally worked up over this a lot of fans which we just brought back niche which is hard to totally disagree with when you look at their numbers since twenty seventeen two thousand sixteen but i do think avon's better than trubisky I think with mr risky. Both sides just needed to change relationships of run. Its course and mitch lands and agreed situation in buffalo to be josh allens. New backup josh allen The bills offensive coordinator was a head coaching candidate. This this season he's going to be had pushed candidate moving forward. He really did a great of developing josh allen. I think mitch trubisky could have a career resurgence in buffalo With a while backing up josh allen..

Former Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky Signs One-Year Deal With Bills
"Announced earlier today former bears quarterback mitch trubisky signing a one year deal with the buffalo bills presumably to backup josh allen. There it is a two and a half million dollar deal with some incentives tied into it. That's injury presumably would be the other scenario. He gets beat out for the backup and he's the third. Is that one. maybe it gets cut. It's a there's a chance he'll be the backup. Let me ask you this question though. Because it's easy and it's if we're making fun of mitchell way or mitchell and that's worthy of being made fun of i think but not this. He's okay right you know. He's making more than a lot of hardworking people. You know literally do in a lifetime in this bad year but they are in the end of these players these reaching the pinnacle of their profession. And it's a billion dollar profession. They make money. They're supposed to make. I mean to me. The beauty of the nfl's rev share agreement. Is they're saying okay. The players contribute fifty percent the infrastructure. The all legacy to have the trademarks team. You know however you want to think about that fifty percent we take the money in. We divvied up and go. I mean to me that means that you can't even debate if collectively that you were jones but collectively with the players deserve their millions and millions and billions ultimately. They do that said we can. Because they're making so much money. We can have some fun with it. But i gotta be honest. I think that trubisky getting resigned by the bears was closer than we thought. Because i would make the following case. Let me ask you joan. What you would have made the odds. I don't we didn't do it at the time but right when this season let's say the regular season ended and those that remember obviously foles got her trubisky came back in play statistically significantly. Better at that point. I would have guessed about thirty percent chance. The trubisky would've had been rinse we signed in some significant way. Not like a five hundred million dollar deal but a real deal. I think the odds weren't worse than thirty percent. What would you have guessed. The is debate. I yeah i would have said probably about the same because that was a lot of the discussions i know in and around chicago that day. Did he play himself back into consideration for the twenty twenty one quarterback job and when i see him getting beat out for the job. I don't mean that. As a slight m i actually think. He's a much better quarterback than people give him credit for. I think for that kind of money if somebody comes in and outplays him buffalo's not gonna be tied to that contract like if he would have signed for seven or eight million

NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works
"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.

I don't see it being in that situation. I really don't so by the way is your good friends with chuck. Pagano was he forced out or was this his decision all along. You know what. I haven't talked. I texted him monday after the season. And just game. A little little encouraging talk there and And instead of being touching it and his response was that he was getting on a plane and the very near future and heading to tampa and he would We would connect sometime later this week and i have not talked to him so i don't i would say no i i don't think they would. I mean You know. I mean that defense. I mean you know when you look at. The offense was scoring sixteen points a game. Yeah i mean you got no chance and and remember talking to chuck though in the season and you know. I was saying he should be. Listen more and be more aggressive. Oh he's smart. He's been the head coach always gotta do is blitz. Once he gets a touchdown thrown on him. And now you're gonna lose the game you know so you gotta do things. They give the team the best chance to win and chuck for gano got that he really understood that. Because he's been a head coach before. And you brought up ted phillips and you're close with ted phillips you've known them for a long time take us into number one. What what's the reputation of the bears across the league when it comes to the front office. Do they need football mind. Instead of ted phillips do they need a football mind overseeing what ryan pace is doing what. What's the reputation across the league. And what do you think about them needing a football mind. No i can tell you. Ryan pace got a very good reputation. In my opinion. I haven't heard any negative stuff about ryan. Pace doesn't know anything about players The the the biggest criticism of ryan faces people like mitch. Trubisky a lot of people like mitch trubisky in the first round. And that's that's not the batabano my money. The the biggest criticism on ryan pace is that he was that sold on mitch that he would you know. Sell the farm draft. Pick wise and jump ahead of these other guys to get mitch trubisky. That's the only criticism. I here but as far as people saying. Oh no one ever like mitch. That that's not the case. That never was the case. So i i don't hear that back. The ted phillips you know. Ten is the present. When i was there now. Head was doing contract. When.

Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020
"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.

Bill Barnwell on Bears versus Packers
"Watching bears and packers and aaron rodgers to the surprise of literally. Nobody just decimated the bears and mitch trubisky forty one to twenty five so i wanna turn this conversation to the horse race. The mvp conversation because there really hasn't been a wire-to-wire front runner. This whole time. We've seen the pendulum kind of swing. Russell wilson kyle murray. Was there for hot. Second mahomes obviously and aaron rodgers who remains squarely in the thick of it after an off season full of drama around jordan. Love being drafted at quarterback and yet there is aaron rodgers just dominating again robert tanya and guys at touchdown to robert tanya made aaron rodgers the eleventh. Qb in nfl. History to pass for more than fifty thousand yards the second-fastest so where are you on. The whole rogers ram vp. Okay so i. I'm inclined to pick. Patrick mahomes by choice right now. And i think the only thing separating those two with russell wilson third is that one disastrous game. Rogers had against the bucks earlier this season. And i think if you're going to make a case for rodgers. Mvp to start with the idea that he's doing more with less and mahomes has to work with. And wilson has to work with the homes of course has a dominant group of receivers with Terry travis kelsey leading the way. Russell wilson has decay metcalf and tyler lockett and we talked about this before the season. Rogers has devante adams and a lot of question marks. Rogers has injuries and opt-outs affecting his receiving corps from week to week and on top of that. The guys who are extra showing up are posting the second highest drop rate for any quarterback in the league and yet when you put rodgers back there even against a very good defense which the bears are. There are stretches this year. He looks absolutely untouchable. The bears had no answers for him on sunday night. So the other

Bill Barnwell on NFL Undefeated Teams + Monday Preview
"Bill Barnwell. It is late Sunday night almost midnight, which means it's time for you to make me smarter about the NFL. I'm going to try my best Baba Bill. Barnwell is a senior writer for ESPN host of the Bill Barnwell show and he's procrastinating his deadline to talk to me. So we just watched the saints and the packers on Sunday night football and the saints lost without. Their Star Receiver Michael Thomas. But that did not stop us from getting a whole bunch of touchdowns drew brees and Aaron Rodgers. Each threw for three a piece. But in the end, the packers won the saints lost and they've now lost New Orleans says back to back games for the first time since two thousand, seventeen bill I know you are writing a new piece about drew brees coming off of the two year deal that drew brees signed in the offseason and what we've now seen from him through these first three weeks what did you see in Sunday night's games he regressing improving? What do we have with bruise right now? Okay. So public drew brees definitely improving this is a better performance from him. Me brees was downright bad on Monday night in week two against the raiders before we got to garbage time and breeze didn't do deep very frequently until this game was out of hand but I think the concerns i. have read or have heard about arm strength or how deep is passes typically go they don't really get how reason this offense actually worked. Breezes sort of like. A singles hitter in baseball like Tony Gwynn lagging time where a post player with no range in basketball he's not going to suddenly start throwing deeply. He's Patrick Mahomes at forty one years old breeze has succeeded. Over the last three years while throwing the shortest paths in the League because he's posted the three best single season completion. In NFL history. Now. The good news for the Saints Good News For Saints Fans is that brees was much more accurate on Sunday night it was twenty, nine, thirty, six for two, hundred, eighty, eight yards a lot of that West Alvin Kamara who did a lot of the work but still going to end up thirty six is still better than where brees was. The bad news was just about everything else. The Saints Lost Starters Jared Cook and Andres P to injuries while devante. Adams List Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred, eighty, three yards and those three touchdowns you mentioned. The saints focused on adding veterans with nicknames Emmanuel Sanders and balcony. Jenkins this off season. But. Sanders hasn't been able to stand out with ankle Thomas Injured and Jenkins has been picked apart in pass coverage including Mercedes Lewis touchdown on Sunday night the attorney for more accurate breeze that was a bright spot. But if the saints continue to struggle with injuries and get disappointing play from their stars, the Orleans is going to need this version of free stick around to have a chance to compete in the NFC. So the packers emerged three no, and that's where a lot of focus the rest of our conversation here on the teams that are now undefeated through three weeks of the NFL season. So bill, let's push deeper into the NFC here because the Chicago Bears Be Chicago bears are somehow three you know and they do it by beating the Falcons thirty to twenty six Chicago was trailing by sixteen head coach. Matt Nagy Decides to pull quarterback Mitch Trubisky in favor of the veteran nick foles mister big bleep nick himself who goes on to throw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. So I have a two part question for you now. Why are the Falcons physically incapable of holding onto a fourth quarter lead and? Secondly, where does this leave the whole quarterback situation in Chicago? Let me answer the second part of that question I. The bears are going to flail by the seat of their pants for the rest of the season I would assume that nick foles is going to start until he struggles and the bears trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter a couple weeks from now, I would point Mitch Trubisky will come in and lead them to victory and the cycle will start the new. Unfortunately I don't have one simple takeaway for our poor friends and Atlantic. Is Different From what we saw in week to as. Much. As the defense was disappointing in this game, the offense really deserves a fair chunk of the blame for what happened scored a touchdown on the opening drive third quarter, and then basically tried to sit on their lead, Matt Ryan and company REPA- total three first downs on their next six is before the bears took the lead back and the only scored one field goal over that time after bisky intercession back running back Brian L. dropped an easy third down conversion which would have put the Falcons and field goal range. Then on the next drive kicker, young coup miss a forty eight yard field goal attempt. I know. I mean let's be fair. The Falcons defense was very bad. I'm not sure the Falcons are gonNA make any drastic changes on Monday morning, but Arthur blank can feel great about seeing this happen. On his seventy eighth birthday and. I believe I'm not mistaken not the only person celebrating birthday on Sunday. Having Birthday Pamela. Day Pablo. Yeah this is a hard way to discover that you share a birthday with the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Bill, which feels like you just cast a pox upon my house.

Bleeding Green Nation
Mitch Trubisky Expected To Start As Chicago Bears Quarterback Over Nick Foles
"Let's start off talking about your pal and my pal super bowl fifty, two hero nick foles and when. The Chicago bears traded for Nick foles over the off season for a fourth round pick we all largely assumed it would be to replace Mitchell trubisky as the team starting quarterback. Otherwise, why do you go out and trade for Nick Foles? Mitch Trubisky is a pretty bad quarterback in the Chicago offense. Last year was pretty dreadful with Mitch Trubisky as signal caller and the two were. They were involved in some kind of quarterback competition this summer in training camp everyone I think myself especially just figured Nick foles would win that job. Well, NFL DOT com reporting that trubisky has beaten out nick foles for the starting quarterback job in Chicago. Remember all that talk about whether the eagles should keep foles or go with Carson wentz. Now, he can't even beat out Mitchell and I love Nick foles this is not me bagging on Nick foles but I'm finding it hard to believe that Nick foles doesn't look better in Camp Than Mitch Trubisky you Mitchell Trubisky is literal. Well, listen to the numbers. Okay. The bears offense averaged seventeen and. A half points per game last year and ranked in the bottom five points per game and in total yards. Okay. Trubisky through for thirty one, hundred, thirty, eight yards, seventeen touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He's a terrible quarterback he looked like he might be improving in two thousand eighteen he played pretty well in the bears playoff loss to the eagles especially at the end of the game when he made some big plays, but he regrets terribly in two thousand nineteen. That's Chicago offense was awful and Trubisky was one of the big reasons why only seventeen touchdowns on the season? There's a reason there's a reason the Chicago bears went out and got nick foles. And Nick foles has a higher ceiling the Mitchell trubisky. You can't tell me what after what we saw Nick Foles do in that playoff run in two thousand seventeen that he doesn't give you a better chance to win. Unless Nick foles arm is falling off for or age has really set in in a big way with Foale's we don't know because we haven't been able to watch any preseason games. So we have no idea what's going on in matinees training camps and what's happening behind the scenes, but it's mind boggling to me that they're going to go with the guy who in Mitchell trubisky you know what he is by this point and you know what Nick foles can do. Both of these guys have a low floor. There's there's no question we've seen nick foles when he's not on play terrible football he's not a good quarterback when he's in one of his slumps but when he's hot. There are few that can match nick foles can do when Mitchell trubisky is hot. It's only slightly better than not. So Great Mitchell trubisky what and we just to think about what Nick Foles did in those two playoff games in the NFC championship game, and then in the Super Bowl to do what he did on that stage and the love that his teammates have for him I just it's a it's a very curious decision by Matt. Nagy and the Chicago bears to go with Mitchell trubisky over nick foles but that's the decision they've made I think. Long Story, Short Nick Foles my prediction will start more games than Mitchell trubisky this year when all is said and done nick foles is probably you're starting quarterback not long after the season begins and my guess is if he stays healthy nick foles starts more games than trubisky this year. Because I know the bears aren't really that smart and I know they they sunk a lot into trubisky drafting him when they did. But at some point, you just got to cut the cord move on I i. We don't know what's been going on in training camp at. Nick foles must've looked really bad in training camp for them to go with trubisky over him.

One hundred days off. When are going to have ninety two games scattered almost daily over the next couple of weeks. It's coming back because we love it because we miss it. It's coming back for. They have a name for everything. Lay. They Call Them Guy Bela. And that is what they will be. Sam Darnold knows a thing or two about those back to English premier league, so we hit positive with most of the season done with exception of Liverpool they're. They're still to be decided. The top half of the table. Seven teams vying for five spots determine who will qualify for Champions League and Europa League which for those who don't know are the midseason European tournaments to be held next year. Roger Liverpool have clinched Champions League. Spot Manchester City has of course been banned from Champions League for Breaking Financial Fair play rules so that. That spot remains open despite city being second in the League. Right now. Arsenal wolves Chelsea Menu Lester Tottenham Sheffield all in the mix. When the race for Champions League qualification, which is a bit like football's march madness, it's big tournament in which the best teams in the world. You're rail, Madrid, your boss Alana's. Para Sanjay Man's by Munich's compete all. Big English teams won't be in that for brand reasons for competitive reasons for commercial reasons and is. And completely wide open at the bottom of the table. All say English football has some Incorr- ellegation, which is if you watch game of thrones? It's a bit like the moon door. Teams get flung through that in baseball, the worst teams every year like the Orioles in the mall in which is flung out of the major leagues, the mooted, and in that place. We had the Tulsa drillers around rook. Rook Express and that is, it's a searing. It is a haunting. It is a savage palm of the global football tradition, and you have six teams at the bottom who are fighting to avoid what can be economically devastating their revenue roughly hauls flung out. The Premier League is savage for the fan base. One Minute. You are watching your team. Take to the glamorous fields, Manchester United and Arsenal the next. Round Brentford Luton Barnsley barring a miracle the Jewish using Norwich canaries will disappear, but there's five teams Aston. Villa Bouma th what furred and West Ham amongst them, two of which will go with them for the big story line. Meena is Liverpool Football Club. American owned little football. "Radio Brady of course not the only quarterback who's on the move this week Evers teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota and now Nick Foles balls is heading to Chicago the bears pulling off a trade with Jacksonville Chicago gives up a compensatory fourth round pick in return for getting Nick Foles so what happens now in Chicago here's our Mike Tannenbaum and feel gates there's a restart because in in our last show we had a debate about whether we think this is Nick Foles job immediately or whether we think this is competition to pursue the starting job and he admits will battle it out during offseason workouts if we have them and then eventually during training camp if that goes on as scheduled I look at it like this the bears were settling if they stuck surface did that with Mitch Trubisky yep the rosters to well fortified in too many spots and there were too many obvious concerns and trade you're right right pace may forever have to live with the idea that he took Mitch Trubisky ten slots ahead of Patrick Mahomes and deshaun Watson we get and traded up one of the first round pick to move up one slot to get him really I'm just gonna put but it's over it's done with that I've been two thousand and seventeen fun ways to win football games and salvage I mean it and we talk about this during lunch again the like you know Matt Ryan pays to be feeling the heat a little bit right now right he knows he's got to win this year and this division is not a cake walk you've got a good Vikings team made the playoffs last year an actual Packers team within its energy efficient game last year this is not an all in move but this is a movie you have to make to put yourself back in the mix to be competitive and allow yourself to playing January football Soldier Field again they had to make so I had to make a move etrade you said what is it on the play calling which basically was a three year starter they had one winning season when I was at the Dauphin two years ago were playing against him we want him to throw the ball down the field to the left he couldn't do that he he was thirtieth in the league in average yards per attempt that's a critical statistic that compresses the field and the other thing about Ryan pace the fields point which is your locker room keeps your general manager there is a check and balance they have a championship defense to Ryan pace's credit he could walk into that locker so he felt we could go win with Mitch Trubisky after we have three years of a sample set now you walk and say Hey this guy's won a Super Bowl we have a real chance now it injects energy into that whole program it also has three years left on the contract with twenty one million guaranteed the falls also has the ability now to avoid the deal after either of the first two years in Chicago depending on his

Lamar vs. Deshaun: Dual-Threat Duel
"Dummy Foxworth is a former. NFL Player in a writer. At the undefeated undefeated Dominique Texans at Ravens Shawn Watson versus Lamar Jackson. I M extremely pumped to watch this football game name I mean how could you not like their playoff implications about like the first round by then you have to. MVP caliber quarterbacks going face to face race is not even that they are officiant are exciting. Like Lamar Jackson is spending people out of their shoes back. And I got a touchtone school into Shawn Watson taken feet to the face and throwing touchdown passes swatted. Betty goes down. We stay so to speak. This might be the most exciting game of the year. Well let's back up. This is not the first time these two quarterbacks have played what happened during their last match up as they played against each the other twenty sixteen in college we have a QB dual death Valley Malabar Jackson sensation in the sport but Shawn Watson. Is this delete veteran. Lamar Jackson Accent was at Louisville. A Lot less talented Louisville going up against Clemson and it was everything that you wanted Jackson Jackson. What's the pocket staff? Lived up to the. Both of those guys had great games. I think Jackson had nearly the three hundred yards passing any at one. Hundred sixty yards rushing touchdowns rushing one passing. Scores Standing at Louisville is walk. You're right back in this game and Watson won the game with over three hundred yards passing and five touchdowns through the air. In Ninety one yards rushing fires back the open it was a great game was close. Lamar Jackson and his team came this short of the end zone Jackson. Listen it go back then in two thousand sixteen. What was the perception of both of these quarterbacks like I mean Lamar was Ryan? Pretty high ended up winning the heisman trophy. That year and does Shawn Watson didn't do too bad himself want a national championship that year. I think people were very very the high on both of them right. well as I mentioned Sean went out and won the title. That year seemed like a no brainer that he would be A starting caliber. NFL quarterback a sure thing and yet the draft comes around and he falls to number twelve. He was picked behind. Mitch Trubisky and Dan Patrick Mahomes what happened. I don't know it didn't make sense because he didn't just win the National Championship. He came from behind throwing the ball through the air. Picking apart art the Alabama defense which was loaded with NFL talent. It seemed like what more do you want and then the very next year. Lamar Jackson also faced faced skepticism. When it came to his prospects in the NFL there were some respected people at this network and elsewhere who thought that maybe his best chance at succeeding being in the NFL was to play receiver which just made absolutely no sense? heisman trophy quarterback who wasn't running the option in college. He was running a pro style offense essentially at least a passing place. Where pro style? Why anybody would think that he needed to switch? Physicians was dumbfounded. You and I washed him very closely closely. Dominique ahead of the draft. We actually wrote a piece together about what it would take for him to succeed in the NFL. What was your conclusion from doing that? We look more deeply into a player's background in on field performance than I had with any other player and I remember being surprised at how developed a pocket could passer he was because all his highlights highlights that resonating. Your mind are him running so you think well maybe. He's like a running quarterback but no the criticism about him was not at all about his ability to read defenses or run a pro style offense. The criticism about him was about his accuracy which is fair but he was much further along as far as being. NFL Pro Ready Ready quarterback than most guys will get kind of tagged with that dual threat right. I went to his day in Louisville for our peace to do some reporting what did strike me about being there was during his throwing drills seeing how bad his wide receiver rose war they were dropping passes right and left. Yeah and I would think that. Having living bad receivers frankly or just generally mediocre talent would bode well for him in the draft process. That people would recognize that he was that entire program. I am all the success that they had while he was there was because he was great. And it's interesting that you bring that up because somehow teams looked at him and didn't appreciate that and then they looked at Shawn Watson in maybe poverty why he slid was because they had so much talent at Clemson. So like People looked at Shawn Watson and they might have seen maybe a guy who was just orchestrating a bunch of great talent and not a great talent himself. I'm not sure how they could watch the film and come to that conclusion. At the time I remember being kind of confused by but I don't understand Dan. How else do you select him behind? Somebody like Mitchell trubisky. Dominic what do you remember from watching the two thousand eighteen draft Well first of all I remember I remember watching it in a dark room with you and Bristol doing some sort of live show. It was really fun. And I remember Lamar Jackson showing up in that beautiful green suit and and feeling optimistic about him landing on a team early because I frankly thought he was the best quarterback in that draft and then watching him slowly. Sit there and all the time passing by and I remember thinking that. There's no way that they're going to let this heisman trophy. Winning Uber towns at quarterback. Go into the second day but the ravens swooped in and grabbed him with thirty second. Pick in the two thousand eighteen. NFL draft the Baltimore. Ravens Select Lamar Jackson in Louisville Right. Meanwhile I'm sure that he was uncomfortable in that moment and he did not enjoy sitting there in the green room with the cameras. Keep checking on his side face but it worked out because I don't think that he would have the success as in many other teams. You use the word confused to describe your reactions to watching these quarterbacks drop in the draft but really I I think you have some thoughts as to why it happened now. Oh Yeah I wasn't confused. Shocked said that because I seem like the right to say hey. I'm black man. I'm very aware of the the unconscious. Or maybe sometimes conscious bias that that goes into the decision making that happens in football and sports beyond that it just as difficult when you assume that there's so much riding on making the right decision that people have a difficult time getting past whatever biases. They are to try to succeed. So I'm not surprised. I think those those players that are brought up earlier like the contrast I bear I think makes it more glaring than anything else is like when you look at Lamar Jackson Deshaun Watson. Why are you more prone to see someone like rg three your career path? That's not successful than you are to see a career path of a quarterback who did succeed. There's just kind of faulty narrative out there that I think a lot of people whether knowingly or not kind of ascribed to is that mobile or athletic dole thread are or frankly just black quarterbacks. Don't don't pan out when they get to the

Bears will release kicker Cody Parkey at the start of the new league year
"Let's talk about the Chicago Bears. They are going to release Cody parkey at the start of the new league year sources confirmed ESPN today. Sources are we are we surprised I mean, I don't think this is a surprising move. I think I think that the the timing of it the way that it just kind of came out of the blue from Ian Rapoport tweeting it out confirmed by Adam Schefter. So now, it's basically official until they do it. The league year starts in the middle of March. That's when the the free. Agency, period begins teams can sign players teams can trade players and teams can release players. And one of those players will be Cody parkey, it's going to cost the bears on the dead cap. Five point five point one five point one almost five point two million dollars. So they're going to basically have to pay to kickers next year. You're going to have to pay Cody parkey to go away. And then you're gonna have to pay whoever ends up being the bears kicker whether that's someone that they draft hopefully, not or someone that they sign whether it's veteran, whether it's an undrafted free agent, weather, whoever it is they're going to have to pay to kickers the article on ESPN dot com says parking miss eight field goals, including a forty three yard kick. That would have beaten the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs. We know that with his first season with the bears the bears signed parking for a four year four year deal including nine million dollars guaranteed last March bears coach Matt Nagy express disapproval with park Parke's decision to appear on the today show five days after missing his final attempt after. Filadelfia? The NFL network was first to report that parkey will be released from the Chicago Bears. So that's dot com and Abdali, you're right. Like it's not a surprise as a bears fan. I think we all saw this coming and you're right. They're going to have to pay to kickers again not much of a surprise because we all saw this coming the thing that I want to see is allow someone to win this job this summer, right? Undrafted rookie guys who are out there on the street right now have a kicking competition this summer in training camp allowed the guy to win that competition and that will be your kicker heading into the season. I don't want to spend any more big dollars on a kicker now. That's just my philosophy. I'm Chris black. And that's what I do if I'm running a football team. I don't spend on kickers. That's just why do I also don't draft running backs in the first round. And that's how I run my organization, and I continued drafting quarterbacks until I find the guy that's how I would run things. So I get it that Ryan pace has. Messed up. I'm glad that Ryan that Cody parkey will be gone, but let's not mess up again and pay big time for a kicker whose unnecessary. Let's just find someone who can get the job done probably at the league minimum. And let's go on our merry way. Because in all reality. I know what a lot bears fans are going to tell us is the reason they didn't win the Super Bowl this year. Was Cody parkey. And I think that that's not correct. I think the reason you lost that eagles game is because that kick did not go through. But you also had opportunities where you could win the football game. And not put it in your kickers. Put you see what I'm saying? So the bears have many opportunities going forward to be a very good football team. And I think overspending on a kicker after this mess up by Ryan pace in in signing, Cody parking in the first place. Let's not compound this issue. Let's just find the guy in training camp. And let's go forward as bears fans. Yeah. I think the reason that you lost that game is because Cody parkey had to make three. Kicks to set up that fourth kick. Right. And then Mitchell Trubisky didn't get his blank together until the second half of the game. And then drove them down the field in what should have been a game winning drive. And then ultimately you the team's effort was placed on Cody parkey. I'm not gonna sit here and let you slander Mitch Trubisky tonight Abdala the defense also had an opportunity to stop. Yeah. Did who is not a outstanding quarterback zone? Right. Like the bears defense. The best defense in the league could have shown up in the fourth quarter in stop the eagles. Offense, thus negating the necessity of Cody parkey to even have to make a kick out the end opportunities to beat the eagles in that football. Here's a will. Appease the fan base. You've already done the first thing you've cut Cody parkey, check, right. The next thing is not don't answer to the cries of the fans and say go sign Robbie gold Ella. Rodney gulp. Ravi builds. Great kicker. Great kicker. Wasn't a good kicker when he was cut by the bears. But ultimately said that's what he needed to get back. So don't call up and say, well, he was he he's being great. They would've won. No, they wouldn't have if they wouldn't have ever if they would cut him. It's a cutting him for him to go back and figure out a new to readjust his kicking to figure out a way to get right again. And he did. And now he's good kicker again. He's also gonna be expensive. So don't spend that money. Don't spend an extra five million dollars that extra nine. Dollars or whatever signing Ravi gold. Go find next Ravi gold. Spend the minimum like you said don't draft either. No don't be drafting kickers. We're not drafted running backs in the first round. Have a whole lot of traffic in this strap. We shouldn't be you shouldn't go out and try to draft a kicker because you have to address other issues on this team. And that's going to be done with those draft picks you find the undrafted free agent. You hold tryouts. You do whatever you do make it a Disney movie. I don't care. Find a kicker and find a way because you don't will. Appease the fan base ultimately

Rams, Chicago Bears And Jared Goff discussed on PTI
"The Chicago Bears smothered the Rams last night. She'll job the Rams entered the game averaging thirty five points per game. That was left with six and B B candidate Todd Gurley got twenty eight yards. Jared goff. Intercepted four times. Sean McVay for all his genius. Got nothing. We'll bond you love defense. So are you now a at the defense can win a Super Bowl this year? I don't know Tony. I mean, the league is done everything it can to make sure that the bears and the ravens are not able to advance things. They're the best to their their best to. That's right. Other teams like the saints. And the Rams they have guys who make defensive plays. They don't make that. They don't smother you foreign entire game. I'm encouraged by this. That's a real bears victory. That's real football to me. Not fifty four fifty one. You can have that garbage. All you want. What they did last night too. Yes. The genius young coach. And he is the great young quarterback was in the top five m v MVP with Jared Goff. They snuff them. Go like it was the nineteen eighty. Here's what I'm happy for that. Let me get to the to the extended point here, which is to do this. You have to win three games to win the Super Bowl can Mitch Trubisky. Get you twenty one points when you need twenty one points. I think he could get your twenty one the other. Eight two two eight to eleven have to come from the DC. I'm going to have to come from a return going on the Rams alone again on this a couple of weeks ago when the Cowboys throttled the saints, they beat them thirteen to ten I said you get one bad game. You get one. The cat. Were scored nothing. I think in the first quarter, but they finished with twenty eight yesterday. So I'm going to give the Rams the moly get a run. You know, why they're going to get vanity and they were forced into. But here's why they get the mulligan from me. They're never going to have to play in the cold outdoors in the playoffs counter. They're not don't bring it up bears are not going to catch them there too behind them. They're not going to cat. That's what I told. You the giants. They're going to play in L A and they're going to play in New Orleans. No one they won't have say something offense doesn't necessarily travel as we saw yesterday defense. Does. So that defense on dry land in warm temperatures that defense can snuff them. Again. I don't wanna see the Rams again. I don't want that. I think. I think in a comparison of the bears in the ravens I think I'm inclined towards the ravens a little bit. Because I think their offense is a little bit better. They've honed it better with the Mark Jackson. They hand the ball off so much. They seem to know what they're doing. But these are the only two teams that can win
