"Used to go most of the day niche. The first taking it even further back, widening the clock back to 1911. What the first Indy 500 to 500 miles took 6 hours and 40 minutes, something like that. So it's not far off from what we see at about this 1000 today. So it is an all day affair. And yeah, you see it over the years and you wear it now. I mean, the race is just one small part of what is a massive event. With all the pageantry and the ceremonies and the excitement that's gummed up, all through race week and all through race day. It's a pretty special event and certainly a lot of things that we try to replicate with bathys. Those two are two of what I would imagine are only a handful of races in the world where you can stand on the grid before the race and you can just feel the energy in the place physically. It's a tangible feeling and it gives you a real sense of the excitement for what's about to unfold and anything can happen. We all know that. So it's part of what makes those two races so special and like I said, just really, really cool to be a part of them. With your self, the time you've been in Australia has been a fascinating, but I imagine also a difficult time. A lot of people do make the trip from Mary to work in Australia, but not many get cut away from their family as harshly as what you experienced through the COVID shutdown. What's it been like in the first instance, that first couple of years of adjustment, and then the difficulty of the COVID times. It's a good question. I've managed to sort of operate pretty well, but just the way that I have and whether that's just because the workload here and there's always something going on. So it's something to keep me occupied. Or whatever it might be, but certainly, you know, you miss your family, friends and everything like that. I would generally go home once or twice a year pre COVID. So you could go see friends and family and at least one of those times was usually the Indy 500 each year. So you're making time for that and just being being a hoosier again, as I'm sure you're familiar with, Craig, the price. So yeah, it is stop being away from people and then the obvious with COVID over 2020 and 2021 in particular created more challenges. But like I said, there was so much going on on this side of the pond as well of just in the background of trying to figure out how we're going to put on a seizing from a supercars perspective. And what ended up occurring with Victorian teams and so on and so forth. There was plenty to keep me busy. Keep me distracted if I was ever feeling a bit down or whatever it might be, but yeah, we managed, I went home fortunately for the first time in May of 2022, I left the morning after winter in this year. I got straight on a plane and then went back home and surprised mom and dad, which is pretty cool. So it was great to see them and it was a crazy two and a half weeks that I was home because it was just seeing people every day and you wouldn't believe it. It was like I've been away for two and a half years without coming by. So it was cool. It was busy but it was really cool and just working through the program now and when I could come visit next or when people can come visit next and as always, logistical challenges and trying to figure out the right flights and everything. So it's calendars and schedules and all that. It's all over the place. But it'll certainly be good. It's always good to get back when we can. And yeah, and the fortunately, at the same time, we have this we have technology these days that allow us to have zoom and FaceTime and things like that. So I'm due to FaceTime mom and dad pretty soon anyway. So thanks for reminding me. I guess, but yeah, you seem to keep in touch with people that way as well and these social networks. So you don't feel totally transplanted away. But it is certainly different than being there in the flesh and seeing everyone in person. So yeah, manage, certainly as best we can, but you can never replicate your closest people around you. As we record this match, we have the situation where Ford is released the gen three Mustang and it's going to make a big change with gen three supercars adopting the gen 7 Mustang. How are you preparing for it? And what was your thoughts on the launch today in Detroit? When I was quite well, I was really impressed with how everything was rolled out. The whole presentation was built into obviously the road car being the feature of it, but it was talking about the passion behind Ford and the history behind the Mustang and everything that goes along with it, which is massively impressive. It's a car that's been around almost 60 years now. So it's been one of the iconic cars of the past several decades. So it's really cool for us to be able to run that that Mustang badge on the front of our cars. And I think the 7 ten Mustang actually looks quite neat. I think everyone when they first had a look at what our race car is going to look like with it. It's quite impressive. So yeah, definitely looking forward to having a thing out on track and hopefully winning a lot of races because that's what we're in this for and that's certainly what Ford is in this for. So yeah, really exciting to put that gen three Mustang out on the track and hopefully have a lot of success with it. Meet you Robinson, you'll keep your driving. Thank you so much for recounting your tiles. It's been a fascinating journey and one that I look forward to catching up with you at best. I'm sure Craig will as well. All the very best in the lead up to our big race. It's certainly a wonderful event. I remember when Tim Drake came out to his first race, I had a very brief conversation with him. And he was very complimentary of our build up to our big race and said that it was a quite an elaborate show as Craig made mentioned, Mike Raymond played a large role in the formatting of the way which are to stay and goes through the event. So all the very best, which we look forward to catch up at better and thanks for joining us on inside supercars. Thanks so much for having me guys, yes. Always looking forward to the big one and this one will be one of the biggest ones yet. So it'll be fun. "In terms of from suburbia to regional to metro. So yeah, quite a bit of overlap and but they're also a racetracks at the end of the day. They're just, they've got a start and a finish and that's our stage, if you will. So it's cool, it is cool to be able to go to so many different tracks around the world. And I remember thinking long before the coming over here was even an opportunity, you know, it'd be cool to go see and how to lay it or a Darwin or a townsville and you didn't now say that you have been doing those for the last 5 years was an unexpected you had asked me 6 years ago, I thought I'd be doing that for what I think that would be happening. I'd be very surprised, but yeah, no complaints whatsoever. Mitch, in some ways, supercars in the indie series are the most alike in all of motor sport. Yeah, absolutely. And that's one thing I did always enjoy when I was working in IndyCars. We'd have a Formula One driver come over like a max Chilton or masala and obviously someone like Roman Grosjean would have been a great example over the last couple of years. They would talk about how bumpy some of the circuits in Formula One in Europe would be that they would race on and then you go get greeted with a Detroit Belle Isle street circuit, which is certainly a very vast difference to what you would see on a European track. But that's part of the character of those circuits and we talk about character with racetracks all the time. That would have been a key word at puka Kelly on the weekend, sat down being another one that it adds another element or another dimension to how races can play out and certainly how individual laps play out. So yeah, it's one thing I enjoy, it brings a bit of authenticity that you're actually you've got to be tough and you've got to be able to race hard and those are some of those characteristics that, like you said, each of each of those series really are quite good at display. Getting ready for better and crowd the image. One of the unique things that maybe you could talk more about would be, I've only been to two. That's a 2013 2015 Indy 500s. But one of the things that is unique about that track is that how quickly the crowd gets into the seats and how quickly they leave because you can turn around and sort of standing there and suddenly they're all there and then moments after the race is gone and it seems the crowd goes. It's an extraordinary thing. I guess one of the glories of when you've been doing that race for over a hundred years, you start to figure out traffic management after a while. But yeah, it is always impressive. We always talked about it as well is that we usually hang out for an hour or so after the race and my parents live about 20, 30 minutes north of the speedway. So it was very seldom had significant trouble getting home after the race. So it's interesting. Yeah, the point that you don't think about too often and you wouldn't observe unless you're there, but absolutely, you made it not much different at least in the mornings with people coming in as well. Not much different about this. You talk about that hill on drivers right heading into hell corner. That'll be full at 6, 7 o'clock in the morning on Sunday and a couple of weeks and it'll stay for the entire day. So it's certainly no different there. How many of those people end up camping rather than going home because it's two and a half, three hours out of Sydney, rather than out of the next major city as opposed to indie being right in a metro area, but the enthusiasm and the passion in the crowd there is certainly parallel to what you would see at the speedway as well. So there are two very, very cool events and I feel very privileged privileged to have been able to work both of them. Indeed, I had 7 month old mayors who I'm sure you will know from the then speed cafe. He was my navigator when we went from Austin down to Houston and then to Indianapolis. And we did a U turn right in front on race day right in front of the main gate. The cops just stood there. We're in a fit 500 and they just didn't give us any trouble. It was fascinating. I could imagine they had plenty more to worry about at the moment. You can tend to get away with a couple of little issues there every now and to get on race day because there's 300 some odd thousand other people that are trying to get in and out or get somewhere there. So you get a little bit of leeway. I actually thought it was fascinating that I parked so close to the media center. In fact, the only place I've parked closer to the media room was that winton, where I was right next to all the building, but at Indianapolis, because I was in a paid 500, it was very close to the doors. It's a fascinating event. As a much from your point of view, that you've got to get concentrate on there for better. What are the key things that you've got to get right for that? Well, for us, you know, I work pretty closely within our commercial team. So it's making sure that all of our partners are if they have anything that they want us to try to achieve there, whether it's photo shoots or video content or ticketing and things like that, making sure we've got all those boxes ticked. So we're planning ahead as far as we can. We had a meeting yesterday, just amongst our group, talking about just the Wednesday, because the Wednesday about this is actually the crazy state of the year for us because it starts with appearances in the morning. There will be photo shoots. It'll be radio interviews, then there's a driver's parade in town. There's the signing session in the back of CBD as well and then track walk in the afternoon. More media and commercial appearances thereafter. So it's a very full on day from sun up to sundown. And you often need to be in multiple places at once, but we've been there before. We figured it out. It's been a couple of years since we've done it for the obvious reasons, but I was just talking with Thomas Randall and Jake this morning and reminding them that their first bathroom was the only normal they've done, which was 2019 and just as a reminder that it's going to be full on all week, but that's why we do what we do, really. Obviously, that's our crown jewel and everyone wants to be a part of it. Everyone wants to see it. So when you're in the main game and at the top level, it's going to be quite a bit going on. So, but at the same time they're all professionals they know what they're doing, at least they try to be professionals most of the time, but it'll be really cool to have all that back as much of as chaotic as it is. It's a really cool event, such a cool spectacle. It was a really good little taster or a teaser if you will for what we're going to see in terms of the passion level. You'll see it at mount panorama. One of the coolest tracks in the world while the coolest races in the world. And like I said, we're all just really excited to be a part of it and have it back properly again. I guess it should be noted that a lot of the traditions that baathist are extremely similar to the traditions of the 500 in Indianapolis. And that is in no small part because of Mike Raymond, who was heavily involved in the 7 network and the broadcast of the race, and his background in speedway as a promoter and then moving on into his television roles as well. He really did set the baathist event up looking at what the Indianapolis 500 did with all the parades, all the preamble, and then of course the race itself. And back in the 70s, the race at Indianapolis wasn't three

"And down weekend. The double edged sword of it is I think the car pace was generally pretty there for our cars. We just had some things not go our way, whether it was misfortune or mistakes. Or any combination of everything, yeah, not the best, but like I said, the speed was there from the car, it has some good flashes from everyone. So we know it's in there, going to the biggest race of the year, so that's the important thing. And we all know anything can happen up there. So we'll take that with everything that we can and see what we can make of it in a couple of weeks at the mountain. Now, we've known you. How long have you been in Australia just over 5 years? My 5 year anniversary was on Monday, which was coincidentally when I was we were flying back from New Zealand. So Mark that with another international flight 5 years to the day after another international flight. You come with a different background experience to anybody that's been in our series in a PR role before. Tell us about your background. Where are you from and how you got to be here working particular racing? Sure. Well, I'm from Indianapolis, born and raised both my parents worked in motor sports growing up. So the apple didn't fall far from the tree at all. So mom was doing some seasonal work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from before I was born up through the late 2000s and then dad was riding at the Indianapolis star and the newspaper in Indy and not long after I was born. I was only a couple of years old. He took up a PR gig at firestone, which is a became the sole tire supplier. Not long after that and has been for IndyCar and over several years every decade since I guess at this point, but yeah, he was in that role until the mid 2010s has done some stuff at IndyCar, done some stuff within so nowadays. So yeah, it was just every family vacation growing up always involved IndyCar races or champ car races, kart races, whatever the sanctioning body was at the time. So it was pretty natural that that's where I wanted my career to be in was in car racing and it started with an internship with Andretti Autosport that the end of my high school career and bounced around with some different teams through college doing internships and work experience, things of that nature. And my last semester of college at ball state an internship with the series itself at IndyCar, that turned her into a part time role. Through the summertime and that was all almost all the communications PR. It was, like I said, it was internship and work experience level. So it certainly wasn't super involved in every area, but did a lot of cool things along the way and was a part of some pretty exciting stuff, especially for someone in their late teens, early 20s. So certainly enjoyed all of that. And then, yeah, not long after I graduated, the opportunity to come over here to what was then pro drive racing Australia came up. There was a job that I saw in supercars dot com and I looked at the job description in every dot point that was there. It was something that I can do that. I can do that. I can do that. I thought you'll throw a resume at him, see if anything happens, didn't think I'd get a response because why would you pick on a foreigner for the job like that? But yeah, I had a couple of phone calls after in the following weeks, a couple of interviews and before too long, I was packing my bags and like I said, landed here in September of 2017 and I think it was my 5th day in the country, something like that that jam and Richie stand away won the sand down 500. So it was certainly a trial by fire and there was no time to get jet lagged, but that was a big start. And yeah, just kept on rolling cents. It's amazing background. As you'd be well aware, the IndyCar championship has ended up with another Australian winning second guide on willpower. The India chairmanship of course doesn't get much coverage anymore. I mean, we obviously had a time in the 90s when IndyCars and grace and the Gold Coast. It's unfortunate that that series doesn't get the prominence and that willpower doesn't get the accolades nor is young teammates got him his loss three times champion who I'm sure you know pretty well. It's been an amazing series over there and one I imagine you follow quite closely. Yeah, absolutely. I regularly ruin my sleeping schedule tune into races where I can there. I haven't caught Laguna Seca yet because we were actually that race is happening while we were airborne from Auckland back here to Melbourne, but yeah, the racing over the last couple of years in particular had been has been tremendous. They may have taken a lot of great steps on and off the track to really build a series in the states. They've got a really great driver lineup in terms of talent and personality. So there's a lot of things going for it at the moment and of course The Crown jewel being the Indy 500 really is the exclamation point on all of it. But the whole series itself is doing quite well. And yeah, it's great to see Scott McLaughlin doing what he's doing there. To be honest, I hadn't worked on too much with him when he was over here, mostly because we were with rival teams, but always had a lot of respect for him as a driver and a personality and I'm not at all surprised at what he's doing over there. Certainly impressed, but not surprised with the success that he's had. Because of your involvement in two major race series. Now obviously the IndyCar and champ car as it was before that went through a major split back in the year 90s, then the reformation happened and they were combined again, Roger Penske moved from one to the other. The two series have very different roles in their countries, obviously NASCAR is the dominant racing series in North America. And there are many similarities you see between IndyCar and supercars. I think in the paddock area, yes, that was one of the things I remember observing when I first came here was the role and everything that I do. There's a lot of similarities because you sort of just plug and play. You go to this person for that person for this. Things like that that's sort of a structural thing. There are some overlapping areas in terms of the entertainment product. We try to put up on track and we're always looking at different how do you do formats of race weekends, IndyCar predominantly does just single races on each weekend. They've done a few double headers in the past that are more reflective of what we do fairly regularly in supercars. But you're always trying to trumpet the drivers as the stars of the show. And that's certainly something as well that you always look back and forth. And see, what are we doing by comparison to what they're doing? And you can compare that with virtually any racing category out there. So it's not necessarily something that you can just look only at one or the other, but with the experiences that I've had in being it's closely involved and having my intent to turn as closely as I do to Indy car, it's certainly a natural area for me to go because I'm not sure there's too many too many other people out there that pay as close attention to as I have at least from our paddock primarily because of the time zone difference and all that. But yeah, some differences, or some similar some similarities, plenty of differences at the end of the day role. Trying to make cars go faster than one another and celebrate whoever gets to the checkered flag first. So both are very entertaining in their own right and certainly enjoyed being a part of both of them. It must be quite different when you learn to somewhere like winter they'll Queensland raceway and a smaller regional tracks side major cities that compared to growing up with Indianapolis on your doorstep. There's nothing like indie. That's for sure. Even talk to people. I'll probably tell the story a few times that about this in a few weeks when people talk about the crowd we're going to have there and 8500 great days, you take the atmosphere of Baptists, you add a 100,000 people on top of that and then you stick it all in a stadium. It is something absolutely unbelievable and even to people who are local to have gone to Indy 500s with so many people who are first timers and I've gone to almost 20 of them and even some of my closest friends they had never been to a race before walk in or just blown away by the atmosphere and the electricity of the place on race day. But

"For whatever reason for whatever reason they weren't able to get anything done with him or any other target that could have gotten at the deadline. And you know the luxury tax situation with Phoenix better than I do probably off the top of your head. How close were they this year? Very close. They played it perfectly in terms of not going into it when they could have. They're close. So they're probably was that where to maybe keep the team together next year, we didn't want to go into the tax this year so that we could avoid the repeater to access essentially. It was probably an argument. And I'm not immune to that argument if you're trying to play the long game, but it doesn't line up for me to not go all in and to not pay Deandre 8. Like both of those things in conjunction with one another say to me that if I was a Phoenix fan, I would have some concerns about what they're going to do this off season. In regard to being willing to pay for a contender in the NBA where you do have to expend. Like you have to throw dollars in order to keep a core together in today's league. Maybe it's as simple as you sign and trade Deandre ayton and you try to move lander shamit like I'm skeptical on what they could get back. I'm with you in terms of like actual value. Like, yes, you could do it. Like, sure, you could put together a package that's like, for instance, Dallas, right? Jalen Brunson to New York, Mitch Robinson going to Phoenix, and then Deandre ayton going to Dallas or something like that, and you make the money work a number of different ways. But it's going to be hard for Phoenix to be able to do that to bring in a sign and trade guy. If only because there are going to be so close to the apron again this year. So that doesn't even totally work, so it would have to be someone that's already on the roster for one of those teams. It's hard. It says to me like if you're not bringing back.

"Rim. If you're a jabari Smith, who's always going to move while laterally. So is that a separator enough for you that it scares you to power forward who's a low 30% shooter? It looks good, but then you back up that line a little bit to NBA three does it get dicier. So I'm not as worried about the top and comparison on offense. I think that Paulo is a drastically more skilled player than he was. Obi is more athletic and more explosive. But in terms of handle in terms of ability to create for himself, I think Paulo is drastically ahead. Like very, very far ahead. And take into account that he's very far ahead being, I believe two and a half years younger than obi was when OB came out of date. So I understand what you're saying there. More because of the defensive side. I think there is some potential where a coach won't totally know what to do with Paulo. Yes. And that's kind of been a thing with the Knicks to be honest. And part of that is like Tom thibodeau, right? Like Tom thibodeau, I always want elite level room protection on the court. He plays Mitch Robinson in New Orleans, Noel and those guys and even plays like a decent amount of Taj Gibson in the past, right? Like that's something that he genuinely really cares about. I think a different coach might be more willing to live with some of the trade offs that will be top and brings. Yep. But. Paulo doesn't have that explosive athleticism is a weak side potential rim protector. I will say, even at 19 years old versus OB topping being 22 coming into the draft, I think Paulo's defensive instincts are better. I think that he is a better positional defender right now than what obi was entering the draft and that hopefully will allow him a bit more leeway. He's also stronger. He probably weighs 15 more pounds than what obey did coming into the draft. He's just really solid and strong. It's hard to move him in a real substantial way, whereas OB has like kind of these weird, long arms, or not long arms, like long legs, despite not having long arms, and he can kind of be misplaced a little bit. I just kind of look at, I think it's going to be easier to get Paulo on the court than it is than it has been to get OB topping on the court. And I think that once you do that, his offensive mismatch ability in terms of being able to create his own shot, which is something that OB top and can't really do because he doesn't have the handle doesn't have the wiggle doesn't have the game off the bounce. Doesn't have to pull up game that Paulo does, even from the mid range. I think it's a little bit easier to make work. But defensively, I think some of the roll stuff that you bring up with topping is very potentially right. That's the shades part of it. I'm not saying a to B, like this is all behind the two. And maybe the situation the fit isn't perfect. It's more from the four position, because we think he's a four, right? He could guard up and play 5, maybe small ball end of the game, for now. But the more I think about it, the more I think the teams are going to use them that way. Like as an end of game 5, because we kind of are underrating how strong he is. Oh, no. 200. 45 pounds. He is in an enormously strong human being..

"To bellinger. Took a pretty hard as you can. Imagine it hurts. Yeah i mean. We lost game. Because i made a couple of pitchers that you know some days are some days. They're home. runs me up mall yesterday. They were not outs and so he felt really bad about himself and we feel bad for him and so now got we don't not at all no he's got a family and everything else but i mean this is an athletic endeavor paid highly to go out there and do his job and he didn't do it. You know the guy did his job. Yes and phil neponset. Aaron judge and that was an athletic. They get picked. The other guys get paid to do yes. And the dodgers are. Act like the rams are gonna come in the washington generals and the giants are gonna roll all over them. No i expected the giants to stay within two touchdowns of them. That's what i expected. That didn't happen right now. Game for in l. a. Later tonight let's get to the nba bucks. Beat the nets won twenty seven to one. Oh four steve. Nash is pretty clear to him. His club didn't want it as much as milwaukee. The one thing that disappointed me more than a loose balls hustle plays. They seem to win a mall. So as we're trying to find ourselves and explorative rotations and find that would be doing finding ourselves and hustle. Place one game show my next. They'll hustle was one of only twenty. They're gonna lose. We're gonna hustle jay wright and without a doubt the most hustling team if there was a hustle. Statistic you know that the knicks would be number one the entire year. One hundred percent hustling all back on defense offensive rebounds. We're gonna out hustle every while we should come up with a hustle. Metrics like graph. Oh yeah they have it. I know i know players wear exertion bands and you can tell what they're giving. Have you ever looked at kevin. Rents exertion ben kylo. We'll see him like he's all that's what he's just too talented. It and exertion bandanas flatlined damping steps. I took yesterday table. That you put barger. Oh yeah i got a couple of things. I want to put on there. I got a little flowers. I'm trying to get that couple. I did i hold on before you do it on these steps for him. Yesterday we'll set the over under at forty one hundred under under g so he was at home. So how many steps would it take to go from the living room to the kitchen to the refrigerator. Twenty five twenty five thirty about at least forty times. You know no. I'm not eating a lot anymore. Gotta remember at this juncture. I'm not eating like i used. I'll take the under under j. It's thirty three thousand five hundred fifty one. That's what i had last year yesterday. All right. that's a yeah that would be a low exertion level. What like twenty five hundred just by just not say. I did that on two holes at ball to straw and monday. Probably so probably so. What else the lakers. By the loss to the warriors. Last night about steph curry triple double right out of the gate. Baby in la. That's exactly right. He's ready to rock and roll this year. The giants placed offensive tackle andrew. Thomas and i are so he's out at least three games. Islanders beat the blackhawks four one yet. The matt martin fight which reminded me of this clip from the other day. This was charles barkley on tnt with wayne gretzky as they showed rare video footage of a gretzky fight which he didn't win and very rarely was ever in june five minutes for cat. Fighting was barkley saying he lost to a guy with a permit. Yeah i thought it was funny. Okay and the devil. I don't know if it's going to end up in january. I mean i'm skeptical at this point that it's ever going to happen even though they said it was going to happen but i'm skeptical. It's ever going to happen because we haven't seen it so his press conference yesterday from kathy. Ho called governor. And she's talking about things that they're trying to do and everything that they're trying to change the government and more transparency in the government. All this stuff the only thing. I was waiting for an update on the mobile gambling. So it really does piss me off that we still are not One of these states Because i think the revenue would do everybody good and people could have some fun and enjoy it those who enjoy responsibly. So good for everybody in connecticut and our listening audience. You got a great opportunity. But for the rest of us it continues to suck government and transparency. The fact that you could actually put those two words together makes me laugh so anyway. I was thinking about the knicks as we were talking about before. The the interesting thing is going to be so. Julius randle had a great year last year and one of the reasons he had a great year last year was because mitchell robinson was not on the floor while the bulk of the season was going on you know. He got hurt early in the air. And julius all of a sudden really starting to flourish so of mitchell robinson is back in healthy right now and this is a pick and roll offense going to try to be shooting more threes. What's gonna be interesting to see whether or not they coexist together on the floor together. Not doing anything. Mentally that is trying to negatively impact each other. They wanna get the best out of each other. But it's the way that players play with one another and how they gel and what and how the four spacing happens on the basketball court and people have to remember that jewish rental had that great year last year mitch robinson was not playing. Yeah and now. Mitchell robinson's gonna come back and it looks like it. Sounds like he's gonna be starting at center and you'll probably only play about twenty five to twenty seven minutes. If that much and taj gibson will come out there and maybe it's a better flow but he's he's going to be out there with the second group of guys not with the first group of guys the other guy that we haven't really talked much about and i don't know what he was. That nerlens noel. No he's not gonna play what he's hurt right now. So but as kevin knox yeah well whether or not kevin knox total boston's never gonna see the floor. I mean come on we. We know that already. I mean he's never gonna play actually think he's going to have an opportunity to play this year. Well i think you got to older point guards right now with derrick rose and with kemba walker. I you know you don't know how much they're gonna play. You don't know whether they're going to have an extended injury or something. I you know. Derek was great last year. It was a a rebirth for him in a different role and really became an incredible leader especially through the end of the season and remember. They had to come home and they had a win. Those three games to get the four seed and they won all those games. Derek was front and center for all of that and he was a big reason why they won those games. But you know they ask those guys to kind of recreate all of that stuff again. I think we're asking a lot especially at the advanced ages at there. But that's why he went out and you you're supplemented infre- agency in two guys that you really hope connected to this team. Offensively in kemba walker and heaven -fornia and you really hope that some of the younger guys drafted developed. Yeah bringing back the same exact team to do. The same. exact thing wouldn't have been the right thing to do when they didn't do it know but that's what i'm talking about quickly. That's why you know. Kevin knox is on the list are j barrett mitchell robinson. Maybe this kid mcbride out of west. Virginia i don't know about you know sims from texas whether or not they're going to think that he's going to add anything to this team. I just is a lot of younger guys on this team. That may be asked to play a little bit more than we expect to simply because of the age and some of the injury history with some.

"This is interesting. I wondered whether patrick williams can deserve to your designation. He's only twenty years old. I thought he had an impressive rookie season. He probably played more like a tier four player than tier three player. Even though he was a starter it was interesting to see scouts. Still seen him maxing out as more of a tier three guy than tier four guy and some of the rationale was just that the bulls are going forward They've got a lot of veteran talent on this team right. Now whether that sack levin nicola vich or demar rosen on this roster and because of that is he going to really get the opportunity to shine in the way that push him into all-star range of the next three to five years. I think there was some skepticism there about that. Kobe white gets a tier three designation as well lonzo ball. Who i think was there. Big pickup gets a tier three designation. And definitely a guy who has flirted with tier two designation in the past sort of right on the bubble there as well. And so. Certainly. if you're more bullish on ball and patrick williams you could bump up the bowl score a little bit as well. But that's that's the bulls young core right now. I think it's a pretty good young core. I'm still skeptical. The bulls make the playoffs this year. Partly because i just think eastern conferences so loaded but if you wanna make an argument that they still have a bright future lots of young players on that roster that are really intriguing. Dallas gets it done by virtue of having luca danni who gets fifteen points. A total of nineteen points for dallas. Luca danni gets fifteen those. Why does the top ten designation get fifteen points. In tier one superstar designation only only ten and this was really the insistence of several jenner managers that i spoke to said look getting a top. Ten player in the nba is so rare. It's so transformative offer a team that just that much more points even though you may look at it and say look i. Don't think the difference donncha and jason. Tatum is that big. I would ask you to reconsider. Look only twenty two years old and he's already ready performing at a top ten level in the nba. He certainly has room to continue to improve. I think there. It's within the realm of possibility that luke donncha ends up as a top five player in the nba. An mvp contender down the road. I'm not sure anybody else that we're talking about other than maybe jason. Tatum or zion. Williams gets there and so because of that. That is the the question about why he gets five points more than other guys do. And then the other guys too to five guys. Tyrel terry moses brown. i'm till akina. Those are the guys that are really very fringe rotation players for the dallas mavericks at a new york knicks or as well and some fans were upset that they weren't higher even though again. This is a team. That's blending veterans with their young players. Rj barrick gets the highest ranking. Three mitch robinson also gets that tier three ranking as well. Some people really pushed for rj barrett to have that or tea ranking. Just didn't hear it from the skeleton. Gm's that i spoke with and the analytics were very much against that. with rj. barrett ranking is the three hundred six best player in the league last year from alabama lebron. They were not nearly as fast as i was over what he was doing and his improvement for the knicks. Next year mitch robinson also grades out his tier three and emmanuel quickly and this is a great example of a guy that would have probably received to your designation last year plays really well ultimately ends up getting tier three designation. This year. quinn. Grimes who was one of their first round. Picks this year gets tier. Four designation as the spouse mcbride who gets a tier four designation as despite being second round..

"Your new favorite products along with the brands. You and your friends are loving right now. In stores and at nordstrom dot com the new york knickerbockers. Your center originally ninja turtles thing. That's that's where i remember hearing talking about. I don't that's right. I was turtles guy here right. You've got the ago see. Here's my question because they made a couple of moves here but they largely brought the guys back from master gang all back here. D- rose to. It's all great new orleans l. Still making enough money to get by not enough that he thought he was gonna make are the knicks better than last year's team because they are slightly different but i'm concerned that they're not necessarily better than the product we left off with from the playoffs was what he i think they're way better. That's way better. But i don't think they're gonna sniffer four-seat right. I think the ceiling on this team is probably like a six seed issue like no way. They're going to get home court in next year's playoffs. But i just think they're way better right like i just think the forty-eight minutes that kimball minutes on supplemented by d. rose minutes and then you talk about emmanuel quickly like as going to be better in his minutes. Rj berridge should be better in his men's just better like all across the board in the positions. That really really matter. They've improved right on. You know look alec. Burks another guy who i love right those are like quality rotational guys and i think if kemba walker is just moderately healthy they are just so much better specifically on offense and generating half court looks Will they be able to stop people at the rates that they did last season. I think you know the ways in which that they did it with. People have talked about that three point. Defense luck ad nauseam. I don't know that that sort of Replicable season overseas in. But i think the team is much better. This is way more legitimate team than the one that when it gets hawks. Why told we're gonna get swept under five games. This julius randle dribble drivel fade away. Like that's not this team anymore. Well i think you brought up the key point. There is that they were a team that won on defense and they have sacrificed some of that defense in order to make an upgrade on offense. I'm just not convinced that they've taken enough of elite offensively with kemba informed that the the sacrifice on defense makes up for like they're going to be a worse defensive team and maybe marginally better on offense and i don't know where that gets you maybe it gets you back to where you were last year but like i don't know what do you think. Yeah i think you've kind of got our run faster to stay in place just because what julius randle did last year's. I'd just don't really see him doing that again. I was never a huge jiving. I never thought he'd be a forty percent three point shooter at any number of volume. And then i. I don't know like those players were so bad. That's kind of what i was expecting. More over the course of the season was. He played more like that so to get expect. That again from julius was probably would have been a mistake. So the upgrade the shooting around him task less which was smart. But that also hurts. It's kind of a reaction thing. What hurts your defense and so then it becomes like how much can kemba give them. I'm worried about him by. He's an older guy. His knees are shot like it could start relate declining fast. I mean already kind of has. He's not be better than it was last year as never been a good team. So we'll see what he doesn't those guys had to produce a little bit or the next becomes like quickly and rj barrett. Can they. I think losing mitch. Robinson isn't back yet beckett. Hurt them versus a really bad. Last journey was out. i mean neurons. Okay i guess. But that's not great center play i mean. Rj is the question here. I think he's the big swing bees. Maybe quickly does too. But he's the guy they're probably counting on to take a giant leap forward. Because this is your three now. It kind of don't really know what to make of him. He's definitely a much better player than it was in his rookie year when in as a sophomore but like is he going to be the type of guy perhaps. We thought about him going into college. Can you ever be the face of the franchise type. Good because i agree. I think randall is a good player. But i don't know if he's ever going to reach recites the last season. Yeah and you gotta figure man like. They were points last year where they just gave quickly a rookie. The keys to the show right. And god bless my. I enjoy watching them. Play like i love. His is poise with the rock. When he's operating in pick and roll. I love the willing to fire out of picking roll off the dribble like with no fear. I love what he brings to the table but the guy was a frequent rookie and they would let him in the show. As if he was freaking john stockton you know what i'm saying like point that he had a green light for sure he was just launching and and again i think they will be better for the fact that veterans proving is really smart. Players will now be manning the ship and quigley could come in when he has to flash any improvements that he's made a yeah that definitely biggest x-factor factor. 'cause he's the only person on his team a satchel. Randall guests who can reasonably expected or your mileage may vary on how reasonable it is but took like making all star team right like a vic fades looking at him to be like. Ill look your wing. All-star type of guy. It's gonna be you you know So we got to see what he brings to the table this year and prostate him for by the end of last season teams knew they had the garden from three point range which was not the freaking case earlier super early on in his career so promising for making themselves to a more quality. Reliable shooter hopefully still building upon that and he'll be a threat from there this year too. Yeah think y'all hit on an rj could be like. He's one of that big figures in the nba the season terms of his development. When you play for the next year in all started become a face to the league right away. So it's on the table for what he wants to do. Do you guys not remember that first. Half of the season When amari signed with the knicks they were like okay where they were playing a seven seed rate but because somebody on the knicks phenomenal. It was one of the biggest stories in the nba. He was the league based on. What new york was saying. A man if they get even half a season of that amari from rj like. That's that's a pretty big credit. Just seems like he's better. I just haven't like. I can't remember a single moment where he's just been like. Oh yeah he's he's a future all star. He's going to be like the face of this team type of good like he kinda just like phase into the background. Enforce the thing about rj. I think that has impressed me. It's like really subtle things it's like when they let him initiate offense him finding the open corner three guy on the weak side with the one handed ties like it's not like he's doing it on a possession possession basis. But it's like damn. He's got you know so. He's always flashing these little things where you like wildlife he could go downhill draw contact and maybe be somebody who gets to the free throw line like he's shown flashes of all these small things that if he was able to pull them all together. That's a hell of a frigging player. But he's never wild you with anything or just kinda like tatum and that like gangs. We can get like five six assists and you're pro. Yeah he's moving the ball and sometimes she can't get into his head. I gotta get up twenty shots so that balance for player like that. it's huge. I love talking about new york because then was.

"Well i think not only that and this is what i said right off the bat when they signed all these contracts and everybody was apoplectic. Here go the knicks nixon. All around kazooing all around the off-season again know what they were doing was saying to themselves were the knicks. Were the new york freaking knicks. And we've been a laughing stock for a long time. You know what we're not a laughingstock anymore. And we don't need to be a non laughing stock for all that long until some of the sar players around the league. Start looking older dur- during the knicks ter- interesting there. The knicks again. Look what happened to the nets. The nets were a laughingstock. Then they weren't for a hot second and then they were a superstar free agency destination. The knicks can do that via trade or free agency down the line. They can get cap space into into seasons very easily. We'll talk about all that in a minute. Let's let's let me ask you much simpler question. Who's the starting center of the new york knicks. Such a good questions act and it's actually a wrote today. Friday it is about that golden. It's continued me because mitchell robinson was the starter. When he was healthy last season he was not healthy often. He suffered two significant injuries. I think it was limited to thirty regular season games and nerlens noel. Really filled inadequately was a big part of that nick. Defense when robinson was out. Who's a big part of why the knicks ended up with the fourth best defensive rating and then he signs a three year deal in the off season to come back to new york. Noel that has enriched robinson was extensible still is extension eligible. But i think the knicks have pretty much decided that they're gonna let him go into unrestricted free agency next summer so such an interesting It just an interesting backstory there with the center position because they're gonna be battling in training camp for the starting spot. Timetable does said throughout the year. Like he didn't care who started in who finished. He was happy to have to really good does starts. You guys all get obsessed with the started five. Who finishes is is was. That is that actually. Yeah that's audio from last year. That's not replaying that i haven't tape from his His an interview. I did with him so he know but he was right because they got great rim protection. No matter who was in who is just gonna be interesting because you have no l. at around ten million a year. Is he going to be coming off of your bench and when you have given him that much money i think robinson the starting job is his to lose going into this thing. But that's one of the fun position battles for the next going into training camp up in tarrytown. Well that's that's one. I ask that question for this reason. Because the as i said the knicks were number one in field. Goal percentage allowed at the rim mitchell robinson. Look we've been waiting on the mitchell robinson leap for a while now. It hasn't really happened. He still has some of the same bad habits he's had but he's still a damned dangerous deterrent around the basket nerlens. Well had a career season last year. Career season was absolutely outstanding for the next steals blocks rim protection a little more discipline on the boards. All of it right and when you think about how much of a hit his team gonna take defensively. If any a lot of it comes down to julius randle head by far the best defensive season of his career. How much of that is sustainable. Talked a lot about how much offense is sustainable. We should have the other side of the floor. Conversation to know ellen robinson. How much of that is sustainable. If those guys can answer those questions in the affirmative. I think forty is close to average. Probably a little below average. That's fine kemba. Reliability if barrett and rj barrett made huge strides defensively and has and has all the tools to be a good multi-positional defender maybe across four positions honestly in bear it. Randall and the centers can sustain what they brought on defense last year. I think and you throw in. You know they're going to be well coached and as well prepared as any team in the league florida. You know that anything less than frantic effort is not going to be tolerated and the consequences will be real. If you do not provide that kind of effort i think the backbone of maybe not a top three or four defense again but at top seven. Eight nine defense. I think the backbone can still be there. I think should should still be a strong defensive team. If those big guys in particular can prove that last season was who they are. And i just say one thing quickly about mitch robinson Mike woodson who was in assistant with the knicks last year before going to Indiana iu and taking the head. Coaching job there. He spent time with robinson prior to last season and he had questions at that point about robinson's approach and willingness to be Professional to work every day to do what it takes to improve. But then by the end of woodson's time with mitch robinson. He said you know this kid is reading he's matured. He's approaching things the right way so that to me was was interesting potentially important when we talk about robinson going into this season. Does he take that next step. Because of Maturation process but by large What you said. I think is accurate. Because it's it's so hokey to talk about culture and standards but with tom dibitetto. He established they won last year. The importance of going on going one hundred percent giving it your all on defense. If you didn't do that you were going to play. And that was that's real. It's not just the israel one hundred percent and so because of that. I think that the guys coming in kemba walker been forty. They'll be held to that standard and just based on that alone. I don't think that they would regress to like a middle of the pack. Defense this coming season but it's a. It's a test that to test for his coaching staff To get these guys to defend as a unit one thing rj barrett very great wingspan. Great strength reggie bullock off into gone. The opponents tap perimeter player last year. It's going to be interesting to see if that falls to barrett or how they worked at going into the season. The other thing i'll say is peyton to kemba is a defensive grade just in terms of size and physicality but i don't think it's nearly the defensive guy downgrade that people would make it out to be i think l. elfriede peyton reliability defensively. He gambles he's a space cadet. I think he's overrated defensively. So i don't think that hit is going to be as big as people think so. Let's game it out then. The starting five. Let's just say noel wins the job. Let's just say for fun. Ones kemba forty barrett randall. Noel rock-solid should be a good lineup bench and you're not gonna go five-man bench unit for part of the good part of every game goes quickly burks topping robinson taj gibson in their kiddos as sort of your emergency break in case of whatever guys. That's a solid bench unit. I mean you know as well as i do. Derrick rose plus quickly was plus fifteen per one hundred possessions in the regular season rose quickly burks plus twelve. They were just regularly. Destroying opposing benches less effective in the playoffs. Like every other part of the knicks team like. I look at that team quickly in year..

"That's kind of the identity here which is you know New York Knicks basketball right? Yeah I think they got harder to play against offensively because they're actually going to be able to be creative and space the floor and shoot now. Going out and getting avan fournier going out and getting. Resigning Derrick Rose and going out and resigning Alec Burks. These guys make that harder to play against. And hopefully they even Kemba like Kemba hasn't looked like Kemba in a while but he's still a very solid high volume three point shooter and at the price they got him. If that's even like 70% of Kemba that's that's awesome. Yeah totally. So they got harder to play against offensively which is the thing that they desperately needed. And they still have a lot of the same pieces that made them very difficult to play against defensively. Like RJ Barrett was a really good defender last year. I know this was you know the the analytics say he was not a great defender. He was really good. Last year on the defensive end I thought. You know obviously getting 48 minutes of really high level rim protection from Nolan's Noel and Mitch Robinson for a large portion of the season. That was huge for the Knicks. They were really good. Julius Randle is big for a four man and can move his feet and can do some different stuff. Taj Gibson was really effective defensively. Like they have guys that are good defensively they did lose Reggie Bullock and if it was me I would have kept Reggie Bullock over Alec Burks at the price tags that they each signed for. But you know what? Yeah that's kind of parsing a little bit I think. And you know on top of that they go out and they get Quentin Grimes and miles McBride and Jericho Sims all three of whom I think are genuine plus defenders and project as genuine plus defenders in the NBA. So yeah I like this off season from the Knicks. I think they did about as well as you would think. Yeah you had Sims like at the near the top of your pick and roll defense bigs right? I did the subject category rankings yeah. Yeah potential G league blocks leader Westchester Nick's defense is going to be unbelievable with if McBride and Sims spend time down there. Yeah they are. And you would think that they're going to given the fact that New Orleans Noel and Michelle are they getting money? And miles McBride and yeah they're just not getting minutes. It's going to be tough..

"Okay we're back. Let's talk about the New York Knicks. They got Julius Randle decide his four year $117 million extension. They signed Ivan fournier and a lot of these deals by the way we're going to give the full full deals here because I think that they look a lot better now that the full details have come out. If on fournier four years 78 million last year team option neurons Noel three years 27.8 million last year team option not three 32 like was initially reported. Kemba Walker two years 18 million Alec Burks three years 30 million last year team option. Derrick Rose three years 43 million last year team option. They exercised their team option on Mitch Robinson which was interesting because they could have made him a restricted free agent this year or they could have rolled it had him cheap this year and he now will be an unrestricted free agent next year. Very strange not a strange choice but what kind of talk about that in the context of the neurons Noel decision which I thought was interesting. They signed Taj Gibson to a two year $10 million deal where the last year was also a team option. Finally they drafted Quentin Grimes miles McBride rokas yakub itis in Jericho Sims rokas is going to be a stash with Barcelona next year. Miles McBride has signed a three year deal for $4.2 million I believe that the first two years of that deal are guaranteed. In Jericho signed a two year two way contract. That is that's so it's like malpractice level bad. For me I can't remember if it was was it you that when you came on the draft pod with me we talked about I ranted on one of our podcasts about this recently at the athletic and the two year two way is not a good deal and I don't really understand how like even a one year two way has such awful RFA rules where the qualifying offers just another two way with 50 grand on it and there's not a lot of freedom there for players. So the sign a two year two way is you know I guess it's a I don't know it's like a backward bet on yourself where it's like oh I'm betting that I'd get converted but it's also you're giving yourself a two year window..

"The nets the undisputed championship favorites next season. If they're healthy question and i agree. I don't think it's i don't. I don't even think i don't have an argument for any other team. They're so good too good on. I love their draft picks by the way as well and then too good. And i just think it to see kevin durant back being the absolute superstar that he is and knowing what james harden is when he's healthy and knowing what kyri the selflessness you watch zach. They were very selfless with each other. They were sharing the basketball with each other. They didn't care who got off. It was no there were no e there was no one ego trip and i give them a lot of credit for that and i think that's steve nash. Having a year under his belt along with the fact then. Tom dantonio is gone. And that will you know. Put him in a position to do even more with the brooklyn nets. i think. I expect the brooklyn nets to be even better than they were. There's you to championship. If they're hell it all comes down to health obviously but the championship is theirs to lose. I think i think they're significant. I think there are better than the lakers. And i think they're better than the bucks and after that i. I don't those three to me. Start the season in their own kind of tier and in the lakers. You know we'll see someone in the west is going to rise up and challenge. Lakers or the lakers are going to have more hiccups than i think some people are expecting. I don't think this is just like a rolled out super team no-brainer. Sixty wins for the lakers. I think they're going to have some stuff to figure out they'll figure it out but that makes it more compelling more interesting but here's the bottom line with the brooklyn nets in this day and age where perimeter shooting and god play maddow's perimeter play matters. The brooklyn nets are better perimeter shooting team. Then those teams that we mentioned in walk in la and they're better free throw shooting tape. What did you think of your hometown. New york knicks off season. -fornia burks no well derrick rose and on and on What what's your temperature. take me. I was happy in this regard. Campbell walk on praying that his knees alright his legs. Okay because i think when is good for twenty night. And he's shotmaker and the shock creative himself. And i think that's what they needed from that position forty-eight i like the fact that they have somebody who can put the ball on the fourth grade own shot. Good seventeen eighteen night. As opposed to a guy like bullock who is a standstill shooter and couldn't do anything once you got in this face The fact that you've got that you retain derrick rose and quickly was a good thing. I especially like the fact that they we signed julius randle to the four year. One hundred seventeen million dollar deal. julius randle is not a supermax of play. He's not a guy. I don't like to be guys pockets like that. But he's not a guy that i wanted to see. Get a hundred and eight hundred ninety million not that they were going to be able to do that. This go round because we know that. But i'm just saying. I didn't want him counting like that against their cap Is good as he was averaging. Twenty and ten being my comeback player of the year and the league's comeback player at a year or fourth on your mvp ballot. Check four hundred. It's right hit. The my problem with him is that He's a one armed. Bandit when you know the screaming he's going left he's going left and that's exactly what he did him in rj barrett I think they should have been kidnapped. And and handcuffed. Left hand should have been handcuffed. They shouldn't be allowed to use their left. Hand till the season begins. That's how big i am about that. So i like the fact that you got that number You upgraded the point guard an off guard position in that mitchell. Roberson this coming back. Who's good for two plus blocks game and he's an interior presence defensively. So i look at the knicks as a team. That didn't go backwards. I still compete. Expect them to compete for top five seed in the eastern conference. And i can live with that. Here's here's my question for you mentioned barrett. You've been talking about lillard as a potential knicks target for a while now on the let me be clear with four cambrian. Mk before go ahead. Well before that's right before kemba came and like you said cameras knee. We got to see what it looks. Like maybe clear. Damian lillard is not available to blazers. Don't want to trade damian lillard karimi. Lord hasn't asked for trade. Let me just right up front. So here's my question to you if that comes to pass because if you forced me to bet right now we'll damian lillard be available for trade sometime in the next eighteen months i would bet yes i wouldn't feel like i wouldn't bet my slice savings on it but if you're asking me gunpoint i'm gonna say yes if that comes to pass you've talked about the knicks. Gotta go all in to get damian lillard. So here's here's what that question boils down to to me is rj barrett going out in that trade or do you hold the line at rj barrett dodgy barrett. I hold the line. Of as long as i possibly can. About a unionist randall about a mitch robinson but not an rj barrett If you have to lose an rj barrett in order to get damian lillard You do what the hell you have to do. me personally. That's how i feel about it I think you know. I think right now because of the pieces that they have in place Even though i know that he would want to go to new york before anywhere else. I think if you're philadelphia with embiid you do everything you can to try to get damian lillard. You absolutely do that. Because i don't think he'd be able to summarily dismissed philadelphia seventy sixers if he wanted out a portland. He's incredibly reluctant to leave. Poland doesn't wanna leave doesn't like what was transpiring chauncey billups actually wasn't necessarily his first choice But it's one of those situations where you look at any you say to yourself. Okay okay. let's see how this goes on. And i think he's going to end making that decision electing to stay in poland not asking for trade and seeing what they're gonna do but i could see that if things continue to look as they have that he decided to go to a major market like new york because he believes he'd be able to recruit if he was in new york and he doesn't want to join super team. He wants to create his own if he if he has to go that route. And that's important because the the follow up question you hear from people as well okay. So they trade the farm for damian. Lillard you got damian lillard. Julius randle and some role players like what. What good is that. That's not going to be any better than portland for him. But your view is you gotta think longer term. You gotta think longer lens that thinks another guy will come. His view is that he would be able to recruit for what i've been told. That's what i've heard that you've got guys that would want to come and play with him if he were not in the pacific northwest. And the you were in a market. Like new york now you no one is really talked about this. But as a knicks fan you should be rooting for him to take sweet sweet time. Because i don't think anyone's really pointed this out but philadelphia who doesn't face that same question because they have joel embiid so you don't have to wait. What are we doing we have. We have already there. Philadelphia right now has a four month window where they have a huge advantage over the next because the knicks right now..

"Same with ben simmons. I'll ride for benjamin's But the sixers a weird position where they're not like they don't have that much cap space. There's an obvious move that needs to be made in. That will be made with density and to me. It's like. I don't wanna do anything until this whole damian lowered bradley beal situation figured out now. Everyone's saying bradley. Beal wants to stay bradsby. Beal wants to stay because the wizards now have cat flexibility. Go get guys when the wizards don't get guys in free agency and their it's bradley beal. Rui kyle coups master big three. We'll see bradley. Beal seals about that dan. So you see this then. Like or acknowledged christmas instagram no. He's not in tokyo out pro. He didn't is literally a picture of the two of them in wizards jerseys. Did you see what happened to calculate way out of well. Two things happen one. He got robbed two he going away. He had a going away. Right with lebron dudley a launch. Tell you everything about the lakers. Around at noon he got a launch. Let's hitch a poland and you'll take it. La lebron so the i will drive to the airport thing way too seriously way to sears and it it's actually just kyle kuzma driving himself while lebron's sits in the back seat in wraps his phone story that that's the that is how kyle kuzma is leaving. Give me the give me the lineup. Yeah at midnight tonight. Ben seth tobias drill and matisse my missing someone. Yeah danny danny. Green's gone in my opinion. That's just what. I what i think it is tonight now. Shitting free agency happens all the time like a few years ago when. Jj wreck signed at new orleans at six o o something come out of the woods but i don't necessarily think the sixers will be big players in free agency. I think more sony to look out for them in the trade market and maybe like signing Lasting on the sixers do we know do trades normally go down as free agency goes down or is that like a look how the cards fell then. The trades app not sign and traits like like people without ben was going to be traded with the draft because there's to be exchange etc is free agency like that. I don't know. I mean those picks that could have been traded then are now less valuable because the team's acquiring them don't get to choose the player at this point so it's like traits have been able to go down. It's just like you just put me in that situation where so many things are happening. And i don't know what it's like to be a g but so many things are happening at once. You're asking me like decline. This do you want to do this. Signed him for this for that. That at what point do i think what can i make this one call and try and make a trade or too much going on over here round even have time to discuss the trade right now but trades have been going on clearly with the russell westbrook stuff and i. I don't expect much out of sixers early on in free agency which probably means shits gotta go haywire. And they're going to be my next line up at midnight. I would love lonzo personally. All rumors do point to the wolves. But i would love to make a salad off for him. Norman powell rj barrett julius randle mitch robinson with quickly off the bench lonzo and norwood. How team wins. Forty five games and gets into the playoffs as a six or seventy. I mean i guess i can't say now after looking started like eighty like seventy games this year if we yeah i i can. I have no leg to stand on to argue that and that win total just because of what they did this year. Yeah so. I hope we make those moves i would love. I'm i've gotten so attached to the knicks. Young guys that i'm like i know we need a trade him off for damn but like really and it's really just square your baby because i fucking love him. It's kind of like you know it's literally like fantasy football when you draft everyone at fantasy football..

"Else wasn't able to offer him. Something better than that. Minimum from the lakers. To just come in and get his feet wet and see if he could fit into a situation and become a starting player now he might be making the same calculation as mantras herro which is look. If you play on the lakers. Everybody looks at you. everybody talks about you. That's going to only increase your free agency value when it comes to the summertime but i also think that drummond is prioritizing winning here over his own individual numbers his own individual role and potentially his own individual finances when it comes to his next contract in a way that i wasn't totally sure that he would. I mean it took dwight howard until he was well after thirty to reach that conclusion. So for drumming to do it here on a short term basis. I was actually kind of impressed. And i also wonder if in a weird way michael. The lakers stars injuries. Actually kinda played to their benefit. Because when you're pitching drum and you could be like bro. We need you right now. We're so injured. It's you know we're going to run all sorts of pick and rolls with you intruder for the next month. Like come out here to los angeles and eat and then in reality when you get to. The finals drum is going to be In mothballs and anthony davis is going to be playing the five. It's going to be a little bit of a different situation right Do you think any of those things influenced drums decision. I thought drummond's decision was super fascinating. Because i mean the celtics were rumored to be in there. I didn't really get that one. To be honest. i guess he could help. And in some form or fashion or just just a classic case for horseshoes aims you know close but no cigar. But it you know. The knicks had like cap space. Like they could've offered a lot more money than any other team if they wanted to. And i might be getting the timing a little bit wrong here. But i know mitch robinson fractured foot. And i don't know if that happened rape right around the same time..

"Totally understand it totally. I have no problem with that but the other nonsense around every every other aspect of their team they get play blake griffin. Here doesn't play for ten days or whatever it was seven days and come on. what are we doing. I mean. And i know they're all they care about is one thing and one thing only and that's one of the championship and they will have the inside track of that once they get all their big three back but for the next. There's no reason to panic. There's no reason to make any stupid trades. There's no reason to do anything dumb. But this team take you as far as it can take you. They got a great leader now is buying into. They got a great coach who has reset the culture. And i think as a knick fan i i would like to think i speak for all fans yes we love the way. Our team's playing defense. We love the fact that julius randle came back committed more than ever and he's planning for a huge contract. We love the fact that we're seeing growth from rj barrett. We'd love the fact that mitchell robinson's back and if the other game the other night against the wizards is any example of what. He's going to be like here. The second half of the season because he's got fresh legs fresh legs. That dad is. That's what you want. You want young. You want aggressive. You guys got hops. And you've got guys that you. He was so happy to be back in the basketball court. I'm gonna throw another conventional sports theory at you right now. Because you're giving me the. Hey you don't wanna break this thing up. You got something you got to come. There's no reason to is what i'm right and so they won't break it up but let's say they added a player like norman powell or andre drummond to help out this team right now is that old. Hey they brought somebody else in because they believe in us. This is going to galvanize this group. Welcome to what we've built here. He didn't have to give anybody early on nerlens noel. A mitchell robinson. I said to myself how much. How many minutes does this cost me. That's how about the team. It's about the individual minutes for the players. Say what i think. I think it's about the camaraderie of the team. And i think nerlens noel did a hell of a job. You did a hell of a job. You can't ask any more from him. And what he gave you since mitch robinson was out you know mitchell robinson's coming off the bench and everybody seems a like each other respect. Each other at that is so hard to do in this day and age. It is so hard. And that's why i really adding height is it. Adding there grows was interesting when it happened. Because you figure that you know that was going to cost somebody some minutes and they were supposed to limit his minutes. But who knew that you're going to have as many injuries you had. Who knew they quickly was gonna get hurt. Who knew that alpher peyton was going to get hurt so it was a good thing that you had. Derrick rose at the moment but then all of a sudden he goes on the covid list and now falls back the frank ntilikina. Who actually did okay. Yeah problem with what he was doing..
Knicks Snap 18-Game Home Losing Streak with Win over Spurs to Avoid NBA History
"Guys. We have a guest here obviously on the shell Pennzoil performance line. And it is oh guy. Our guy Bagley get your bag. Ian, how're you doing? In. My three favorites out there tonight. I'm very excited. Yes. ESPN New York. Knicks reporter also does the nets and basically holds the upper east coast down in did you know that the Knicks made the Oscars they pretty much won an Oscar did you notice this? Yeah. We got wind of it on social media after the game. And we asked a couple of players about if they hadn't seen a year for too excited to just see the clip Samuel Jackson, and Spike Lee. Not every not every year that the Knicks could have mentioned on the Oscars deserves rightfully so. Because the Knicks would at home first time that happened since December one twenty eight and I'm talking about last year folks, twenty we're everywhere. Number one two thousand eighteen they won. They beat the Spurs one thirty one eighteen and I even saw the icing on the cake who threw off the backboard pass for the dunk like it was just wild. How important Dennis Smith? Well, of course, it makes sense. Usually he's on the other end of the dunk rape. How does this when in Madison Square Garden me? What was the field? Was it like a sign of relief for coach physio it felt like a weight off everybody's shoulders, you know, coach FitzGerald would tell us that they don't think about it. They don't talk about it. But then the players afterward joking around the locker room, it just felt like a much later lock home. Now, they knew about they were one loss away from Batasuna longest losing streak ninety history set in ninety three ninety four by the Dallas Mavericks. They know that they have the longest losing streak in franchise history. This so they're aware of those numbers. They don't want to be a part of that history. Tonight, especially the team like the city until you're Spurs. It's not easy, especially for this. And we've got a twenty two games left would throw out the record. We know where we know where we are twelve hundred forty eight what should be the goals over the next six weeks here with this team wanna see consistency. I think so Kevin Knox. You'd wanna see what Frank ntilikina as you're still trying to answer that question. You know, one one and a half almost two seasons. Enter France career, he should get healthy at some points to from this point. I think it was the next to kiss him significant minutes trying to answer that question to try to see if he can be elite guard. What did he do off the ball and where he used offensively so between seven and Saint not some consistency. From those guys. I think the next like what they've seen recently from young player in literal Robinson who who's really played well, especially since the Andre Jordan has come over from Dallas Jordan has done a good job mentoring. Mitch robinson. So I think it's it's the young players on your team and being able to project them forward who is a keeper who can you pencil in for next year? And who do you think won't be around piggybacking off your point there? What's the the Knicks recruiting pitch this summer? You know, who they Bill that around is it around, you know, playing with somebody like Dennis Smith. Knox. Or like what how does that play out? Jordan because you have the two max slots. Pitches almost hey, come come here and tell us who you wanna play with right twenty nine hundred she class, we get that you wanna play with and Kevin Durant. Also simple. You want to change the narrative around. Golden State to win those titles. You come here. And you have success in New York you wanna title in New York. I mean, that's a forever thing doesn't staffers outside of Madison Square Garden and no one. We'll talk about how joined that Golden State to win your earlier title simple message. Anybody else? It's tell us who you wanna play with. We'll try to bring that guy in. That's the voice of in Begley are ESPN next report. And that's reporter upper east coast. Reporter you're listening to insiders. I'm Bobby marks Jordan Schultz ESPN radio ESPN app and Sirius XM channel eighty now. Talking about obviously, the potential free agency this summer. Those are all big question marks largely because of the trade deadline, sending Kristaps Porzingis opening up two slots, but tell me how worried were Knicks fans watching Duke UNC this past week in. Knick fans are still watching the Knicks games. I give them a lot of credit assume most expensive watching every night. So. A big sigh of relief. I think I'm this fanbase when you found out that that sign injury wasn't that serious that he's going to be okay. Because this record twelve weeks at this point. And they're just looking ahead towards the trash and like every other bottom. Feeding MBA franchise. They're looking at nine what you've seen how he can impact their roster. How much he can change the fourteen organization. So, you know, certainly everybody around here was relieved when they found that he was okay. The interesting thing so Zion and wherever the Knicks end up in the draft in the top three. They hope is could that pick then help them creed. With the woman's Francis us, I think that's something. That's that's certainly on the fan bases minded. I'm sure the front office is thinking about different permutations packages. They could put together including that twenty nine team first round pick to try to entice New Orleans Detroit. And before we let you go. What do you think Zion playing in Madison Square Garden would look like do you think it would be just the new coming up LeBron or even even bigger based on his highlights in his dunking ability. I remember the Jeremy Lin Ron and how much energy was in the building night in and night out. How much of the event every home game was your masters. I think it would be just like that. But even more so sign Williamson was here. Because you know, he getting the franchise all three player people talk about him as a prospect the same way, they talks about Davis to bring that kind of talent into this building would give this reasons for optimism something they haven't had in a long time around here in. I look forward to our shared slice of pizza. I know we've been pushing off that day for a long time. He's been the best pizza apparently in New York. But before we let you go last, but not least we have awards given out for the MBA insiders and honors of aren't Oscars. Have you been watching the Oscars tonight? Because I've been at the. Is your feed though, you saw here. A little bit here and there, okay? This has been a Mahershala Ali love fest on the show, but we actually have awards given out today on MBA insiders throughout the course of the night. I want to get your vote for the last category that we're trying to push best leading man. Are you ready for this vote pleased? The nominees are Janta Takubo of the box. PG thirteen Paul George of the thunder James harden of the rockets and Kawhi Leonard of the raptors who is your best leading man right now. I would go right now with John giving Milwaukee's records they're standing in the conference in the role that he plays on that team. I think he's most deserving of that honor at the moment all of Georgia's a close second. Given what he's done for the thunder
