"Mike calls in from Denver good evening Mike Jim good evening thank you so much for taking my call and mister Taylor Thank you so much for your insight this evening as well And I just had a quick comment in question So rent Exxon mobile came out Tuesday and said that it's targeting net zero greenhouse gas emissions for its operated assets by the year 2050 and this announcement basically comes as Exxon they're facing pressure to act on issues of climate change And so basically my question would be when these big oil companies come out with these announcements how much do you think that this affects the oil markets and how does it affect your bottom line so to speak when oil prices hit these huge 7 year highs Let me just toss in my two cents worth before Rand Taylor gives you a more educated viewpoint And that is let's not forget that if we stopped tomorrow burning a drop of fossil fuel not a drop of gasoline not a drop of diesel not a drop of home heating oil not a drop of anything We would still need hundreds of millions of barrels of petroleum for synthetics plastics drugs pharmaceuticals and the like The idea that we could suddenly go fossil fuel free is ridiculous I mean that is not conceivable for the balance of this century as far as I can tell ran Taylor Well and you're right on target there Actually the international energy agency says that we're about we're about 80 20 mix right now 80% fossil fuels and 20% non fossil fuels that are running the world I think that number may be a little bit on the low side but 80% But regardless to go to flip that to 2080 by 2050 which is what the world is trying to do and ExxonMobil has jumped into lockstep with them on that I think a lot of it is quite honestly I think a lot of it is ExxonMobil jumping on board with the wave And I think that BlackRock and the number of these large organizations are pushing this dramatically But what we do with our stuff we recognize that yeah this is real First of all we have to increase sustainability and we have to lower emissions and we have to clean our planet No one disagrees with that okay Can you do that by going 88 flipping the 80 2080 by 2050 I don't think you can either So but regardless it's going to take a long time to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels forget about all the other ancillary things that you mentioned that you need to have petroleum for But for the fuel aspect of it I think it's going to take decades upon decades to wean ourselves off of these just because of the way our WeWork Now in the meantime for us we're all about improving efficiencies anyway So we're all about reducing emissions So everything we do is going also in lockstep with that So when prices go up that's of course to answer the question that's good for us because we're going to sell more product because people want more efficiency But also even if prices come down you know and we're all working towards a cleaner environment And I think we could a 100% of us out there will agree with that Whether you agree with all the rest of the stuff or not we all want to cleaner world We all know we have to take care of our will So we are we do what we do all those things So we're happy to either way the pendulum swing So but I think that hopefully that answers your question No I think so Thank you for your call Mike Call us now at one 8 6 6 5 O Jimbo one 8 6 6 5 O 5 four 6 two 6 as we talk about gas prices hitting a 7 or 8 year high with Rand Taylor the CEO and cofounder of the industrial sustainability group Their website fuel ox dot com And back with more in just a moment When you fill your prescriptions at Walgreens you can track the progress of your.

"Was a silence and then brady said oh sorry i do. Do you promise to love him. And keep him in sickness and in health for richer and for poor as long as you both shall live. I do brady Williams heart thudded twice in quick succession. Her sleeves were pushed up to her elbows and he found himself looking at her narrow wrists and the fine downy hair on her arms. He was shot through with desire so much for being free. Her father said do you. William take this woman by proxy to be your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold by the laws of god and of this state i do. Do you promise to love her. And keep her in sickness and in health for richer and for poorer as long as you both shall live williams voice caught. I do then. I now pronounce shelly. Gene jackson and anthony. Jane's tibidow man and wife. Mister taylor put the paper down. that's it broadcast. That's it her. Father said and you have to sign the williams signed. His name is handshaking. Only a little and bridie signed hers. Pam signed as the witness then brought his father produced a folded stack of cash and peeled off one fifty dollar bill for brady and one for william or rich. He said. let's go get food. They sat over bowls of chili in the green booth. Downtown william self conscious in his suit y the bad mood he asked. I told my mother. I'm applying to conservatories. Bridie said to study musical theater. She said it was a clear shade and superficial thing to do and that anyway. I'm not pretty enough almost but not quite. She just wanted to be honest to save me. The disappointment later that was sweet of her. He said i thought you weren't in touch. We aren't much bridie said. I used to see her once a year but it confuses her now that i'm not a little girl anymore so i don't go visit. I thought she'd lost all that scary. Maternal power you know. Are you really wearing that dress. That kind of thing. But i guess she hasn't do you know why she left. Williams shook his head. Bridie never talked about it and he'd only heard rumours she met a psychic chandler. Who put her in touch with her past lives. She was always into past lives. That's why she named me bridie. Some woman got hypnotized longtime ago. And she said she used to be an irish girl named bridie murphy who died and she had all these details and there was a book but reporters checked and the dead girl never existed except my mother still believes it's possible. She moved to oakland to be near her psychic. One of her other past lives was as a pioneer woman. Digging potatoes with her hands. One was as a french courtesan before the revolution. My mom thinks sets why her french is so good. I used to want her to be interested in this life. You know she has indoor plumbing in this life and a daughter but she likes the other lives better. Bridie rubbed her nose. Just wish i didn't care. Of course you care. Williams said she's her mom hardly..

"Like that but basically I wanted Mister Taylor ambassador Taylor to pick up the ball and take it from there I I had gone as far as I can go so I mean there you go there you have it I mean I think that kind of points the where we are yes sums it up yeah I think I think that that's it I mean to me president saying directly I don't want anything just do what he said he ran out they want why is a very controversial well when we got a good question coming up we're gonna get to this what about investigations and and corruption in those countries will go ahead well it isn't controversial but it's also important to keep in mind that the capacity of Democrats to create fictional circumstances or fictional inferences seems unlimited so there you have a particular narrative and they've tried to stick with it they have they keep changing the endgame our first it's quid pro quo then it's extortion Bennett's bribery then it's something else then it's abuse of power then it's obstruction of justice our bar I think we should all keep in mind this one fact many Democrats were committed to impeaching this president before he was inaugurated there's no question about that so I think that the reality is I mean the way I view it right now is that this is a witness and again it's it's kind of giving testimony clearly that the president did not direct any quid pro quos and did not authorize the withholding of advice I might think it's pretty could I think it's it's pretty clear also interesting is that NBC and ABC are on regular programming now said no only see yes of course he'll airing it currently in my that going excellent no quid pro quo because he said nothing ever happened because after the opening statement which was the roughest setting for the present throughout this whole thing obviously once he was actually ask direct questions about quid pro quos and what did the president ever direct you to do it this is the only go talk to present ever says fine we'll hear from three people on the phone call one who's ever spoken to the press the red states whose testify and the president is saying clearly I want nothing just tell them do what they said they were gonna do and then you know will fit will figure it out from there and by the way I think Devin newness laid it out well what we've talked about this whole time the Ukrainian government reviews two of those the the into government but they were holdovers just like they are every government was running an opposition campaign to president trump's candidacy in the United States publicly by writing opposite newspapers the recording with the dog was criticized for that yet yes and that came up with a get today is that I individuals with through all of the times so to try and make it like it was not part of his with his official duties if you're talking about they were directly what does it mean if they were going after the president what does this mean the press is upset with them for doing that it means they were interfering in US elections just like if you were mad that the Russians were doing it unless your parents it doesn't matter what side they were on the president's job would be to tell them knock it off don't ever do that again and you better investigate the people who work we had it as as I I think it was as a Carson said today in plain sight take a listen bite eighty nine it's an inconvenient truth of the Democrats don't want to admit some of their operatives they were dirty and up the trump campaign using Ukrainian sources in two thousand sixteen and they do not want us to get to the bottom of it they don't want you ambassador to to get to the bottom of.

"News ninety six point five seventy via the private the best of my knowledge the case against the former minister shut down December twenty fourteen okay and right around that time the reason is starts adding officials to export is that correct they're standing is yes that the jet ski invited into a series of new individuals to join the board in twenty fourteen and did you notice strategy was in adding officials to his word I've never met Mr logistics okay and who are some of the folks he added to the board the most prominent person he added to the board was the former president of Poland Alexander question ski and anyone else there were a number of others including some Americans and the the most prominent one in this context is on a bike okay so everybody's added to the border there is no now do you think that creates a problem that there isn't maybe adding people to it for for protection purposes Sir I work for the government I don't work in the corporate sector and so I believe that companies build their boards with a variety of reasons not only to promote their business plans was was hunter Biden how corporate governance experts I have no idea what hunter Biden study university or what his TV says and I guess he read the Jeffrey Sonnenfeld of of the Ukraine I have no Mr knowledge of what his background was and what he may have done on the border so you don't know whether he has any business experience in Ukraine prior to joining prisons works hi I've heard nothing about prior experience and you know the security and I do not the no fee possesses any other elements other than the fact that he is the son of it at the time the sitting vice president I do not okay Mister Taylor do you know whether hunter Biden offers anything other than the fact is that is the former vice president I don't know what the time was the vice president I have no knowledge of raises questions right he was getting paid I think fifty thousand dollars a month to to sit on the board did you know the relocated to Kerr you kind of services they can DO hunter Biden relocated to Q. cranes no knowledge of Mr can't again no knowledge okay so he's getting paid fifty thousand dollars a month but we don't know whether he had any experience he had any spoke the language or whether he moves Ukraine correct correct but yesterday you heard the point of the president speaking very unambiguous terms courageous public servant the devastating testimony corroborated evidence of bribery uncovered in enquiring and that the president abused and violated his oath by threatening to withhold military age and weight has meeting in exchange for an investigation into his political rival and at the heart of the corruption is this oligarchical oligarchical system correct swear words the oligarchs take control often by a virtual fast of you know for example the the rates a certain energy licenses correct that is one element yes Sir and in the the company for response no it's it's leader so testy he has a little bit of a storied history of corruption doesn't Mr such as he was minister of energy from two thousand ten two thousand twelve under the pro Russian government and he uses regulatory authority to award gas exploration licenses to companies that he himself controlled that would be considered an act of corruption in my view yes and certainly self dealing certainly self dealing and self in return and handed the Ukrainian government ultimately pursue that in the spring of twenty fourteen the Ukraine government to the new government after the revolution dignity turns to partners project like the US and the UK to try to recover tens of billions of dollars of stolen assets the first case that we tried to recover that money came from Mr such a ski serious crimes office in the U. K. already opened up an investigation that worked with us in between the thirties develop more information the the twenty three million dollars was frozen and tell somebody in the journal prosecutor's office of Ukraine shop the case issued a letter to his lawyer and that money went forth to summarize we thought we thought the Michael is let's just get stolen money without a prosecutor had taken a bribe isn't the case and those were our main concerns and are you in favor of that matter being investigated and prosecuted I think since US taxpayer dollars are wasted I would love to see the Ukrainian prosecutor general's office find who with the corrupt prosecutor was that of the bride and how much was paid and that's what I said to the deputy prosecutor general on February third twenty fifteen but in addition to prosecuting the person it deprives shouldn't be organization or individual that sponsored the bribes be prosecuted I would agree that the Ukrainian lawful authority should uphold the rule of law and hold people count for breaking Ukrainian law so this this company version and all the lots of lots of criminal activity correct I do not know that over the years it's been involved in in in a number of the questionable dealings correct I would say that it's the largest private gas producer in the country and its business reputation is mixed so to the extent of the new regime is coming in under presidents NC it certainly would be fair for them the new prosecutor a genuine prosecutor to to re examine old crimes that hadn't sufficiently been brought to justice right I believe that the new poster generous on river shop got made a statement to that and that today would be reviewing past cases but keep in mind this is a country where those who commit crimes generally never get held to account so there's a lot to review but he got paid millions doesn't tell anybody to Ukraine doesn't know anything about Ukraine isn't only about oil energy gas I will tell you it is every American needs to now be angry because what they are doing is that bad and that corrupt and and to be where you are well they are in the mob in the media and and of course the Democrats which is our the dirty does say that we don't care about that but but but trump pressure collision is the worst thing ever get a foreign interference well well for investigation okay but it the obstructed the obstructed justice no I didn't but you don't care about the subpoena emails what Hillary did there you care about election interference but you don't care that a DNC operative literally went and met with but if the operative met with our Ukrainian officials at the Iranian embassy in Washington for the purpose of digging up dirt on Donald Trump and now you've got nothing in a phone call zero so you bring in people that say so and soul who talk to someone so talk to someone so so and so so and so so and so so and so they said this and yeah that makes sense to me that's right by just assume that was true that's what you're getting here but you can't confront your what you you can't talk to Adam Schiff polite again yesterday you want to I called a congenital liar because he is the guy lied to us for three years about Russia Russia trump Russia Russia trump trump Russia Russia trump why put we got all the evidence though that in the end nothing absolutely nothing now all year and we'd like to want to talk to the whistle blower we're gonna pull the whistle blower but I yeah I was less than forthcoming I should I should have been more forthcoming about the my office yeah we we talked a yes I don't know the whistle blower okay make up your mind what kind of country are we going to be here this is now a defining moment in this country you don't like the election results well I don't like it when Obama one you know what yes suck it up you move forward and your battle on the issue in the arena of ideas and and your fight for the for the things you believe him that's that's what happens you lose sometimes a life flight that sucks I'd rather win I like the I like the economy now much better people have to lift a finger to help this country in any way shape manner or form they've done nothing for three years except this B. "Here I'm not invested one outcome all I'm not here that's your job we're in a minute then why are you there this is an impeachment inquiry that's the only reason you're there Mister Taylor you are there to help start nailing coffins in Donald trump's golfing that's why your there neither of these two witnesses yesterday could provide any direct first hand knowledge of anything Donald Trump is done in Ukraine and they are the star witnesses here's Joe Lockhart this morning on CNN's new day he's the former Clinton spokesman a former spokesman for the National Football League Alison Cammarata said most working people can't be glued to their TV if that's another tell tale sign by the way let the drive bys know they've got nothing believe you me everybody stopped what they were doing to watch the Watergate hearings people took off work TV sets were turned on at work the Watergate hearings captivated the United States nobody made any extraordinary efforts to watch any of this yesterday and I'm I'm here to tell you that if people didn't tune in the first hour of this thing was as much as they dared watch it was boring it was in that place it had no drama whatsoever it had no bomb shell revelations it didn't come close to meeting the expectations that the Democrats and built up and Allison Cammarata's question here and knowledge is that nobody watched she says to Joe locker well you know most working people can't be glued to their TV a tacit admission that they know nobody watched well you know Jones junior most working people well then why are you on the air during that time and we most working people couldn't watch yesterday they can't watch any day right why are you even on the air one CNN sign off from say nine A. M. to six PM if most working people can't watch it most working people can't be glued to their TV is Joe do you think that there is any way in our tribal universe that this move the needle for some stop and think of this question she always they all know thing happened yesterday the move anybody anywhere nothing happened in fact the Democrats hurt themselves yesterday the media hurt themselves they spent three years building people up for yesterday they have spent three years I cannot over emphasize this three years of trump coal loading with Russia trump stealing the election trump a traitor trump a foreign agent Rudy Giuliani a foreign agent the Mike Cavanaugh hearings and all the rest of it in the mall the report all the stories in The New York Times and The Washington Post three years of this and nobody you watched yesterday and the people who did had to be asking themselves what is this folks you cannot watch this you can't judge it in a vacuum you have to put it in context and they had built this country out expectations that this was gonna be the beginning of the and finally we're there we got Donald Trump now we got a lot of phone call with the president of Ukraine and the question essentially joke nobody watched yesterday because there was nothing in there are if you think there's any way in our sole with partisan universe is there any way that what we did yesterday can somehow still work even though we know that it didn't Republicans and did what they needed to do which was they just need to give their base something to hold on to and I think their best argument was the simplest argument which is the eight went through and there were no investigations now it say argument that falls apart with one more piece of information but they're not going to get that from fox news they're not going to get that from Rush Limbaugh so I think there's nothing there that moves the hard core magna bass there was nothing there that move the hard core magna bass away from trump exactly but there was nothing there but moved the great on the wash the independence the moderates there was nothing there to move them to your side Joe and that his answer is a tantamount admission well the Republicans you know what the best argument why is the simplest argument the aid went through there were no investigations yep this baby is over folks the aid went through and there were no investigation doesn't matter whether trump likes investigations more than he likes you crane your crane got the money and there were no investigations and lock guard says the argument falls apart when one more piece of information but he doesn't provide it he then goes into and the American people are never going to know what it is because of fox news and rushed one people they can't overcome our smog no matter how hard they try The New York Times The Washington Post ABC CNN MSNBC ABC NBC CBS Los Angeles Times USA today you name it people are going to know the truth because of watching my back and someone fair we had dropped way and it right there was gone got nothing Hey look what they've put the country through in the process of this remember Harold Ford don't forget Harold Ford earlier this week talking the bread there on the fox news channel he said I won't be surprised if after this thing gets the Friday hello CC is there's no chance of a bipartisan vote on this it she just decides to pull it don't forget Harold Ford said that he Jeffrey Toobin one more sound bite CNN as well this was yesterday afternoon and yet another tell tale sign of how deflating disappointing they're pressing all of yesterday was the one criticism of these two witnesses which I think is very much legitimate it's not really a criticism it's just a factual statement is that neither of them had direct contact with the present ever ever and yeah that's a problem if you're going to impeach the president thank do you think neither one had any personal contact with the president they cannot testify to everything trump did or said all they can do is what they did well somebody told me that had told them three months ago that whatever got passed on to them by the time I heard it was fourth and fifth hand but what I heard was that the president likes investigations more than he likes you that I'm not exaggerate was the nose yes that was it that's the bombshell let's see what's on cable those are still talking about the school shooting in California fall still not a war on this massive first step toward getting rid of Donald Trump yesterday in the house of representatives no.

"Your radio and ninety nine point seven FM four five ninety eight AM mark Mullen and hope you have a great afternoon thanks very much we've been discussing the first day of the house impeachment inquire we the public session Mr can't Mister Taylor were there today appearing simultaneously it took a lot of questions from both sides they are wrapped up today then they had a very very quick vote on a motion to call the so called whistle blower and to testify that was voted down on party lines the Democrats have more on the committee and they were able to vote down that request by the Republican and it was a request to have the whistle blower testify behind closed doors so not even in public hearings they wanted to question down behind closed doors yes in shift said no no but that was defeated all right the numbers are five one two eight three six zero five ninety you can call you can text is here on T. L. B. J. James in Pflugerville how you doing today James Hey guys I love your show one of my questions for and my concern is what yes Sir when you do make up your mind that Donald Trump would still free my first question my second question is you think there's some there's impeachment process good item shippers putting on you think it's fair I don't think Donald Trump is guilty of anything I think it was wrong for the president to ask the foreign entity to investigate one of his opponents I think it was wrong I don't think it I don't think he should be impeached for that now no I don't think you should and what was your second question Sir do you think there's a process that item ships court player yeah I think it's fair right now I would like to see some Republican witnesses be able to testify specifically to what this is involved with the president's call to the U. Ukrainians and by the way I just saw this that the guy who listen to the trunks on land call over heard the big but the alleged bomb shell today Adam Schiff confirm after today's session that David homes will be deposed on Friday he's a guy that over heard the adding evidence of the evidence or that the Democrats but for today that was Taylor's aid yes you can claim the president I don't think the president's guilty of anything I think he was wrong to do that I don't think it's impeachable offense are okay okay how long do you you're really detectives of our process others I you know it seems dog Democrat I'm not a problem well we're not that I mean I'm gonna vote for trump right all right after all this stuff but yeah I have your staff it's one of those deals to the Victor goes the spoils whoever has the more Democrats and more Democrats in the house Republicans have more more Republicans in the Senate so all right thank you I think that ends up wounding the Democrats ed because this is coming off as a purely partisan move it is Margo back to Nixon and both sides came together on that one more a bipartisan effort what we're seeing here this is far from far from this I agree with that we would agree with you entirely on that Michael's in central Austin Hey Michael how you doing today I got a great shot I love your show thank you Michael my first argument is that there is no often and two times have been decided as of the second so how do you interference a lecture on the mall or not has been decided somebody let me that first well at the time Michael if I can interject Joe Biden was leading in the polls and many thought it was a slam dunk the Joe Biden was going to be the guy running gets a president yet but all countries about that now he's given on a nominee number one number two Joe Biden can call you princess and on and say we want to give your money unless you filed this prosecutor jump can't say you're doing rest again the crimes which are illegal by any of defamation my understanding is Michael that by did that that was the wishes of the administration of the state department he was representing our country when he did that right salt what's wrong with doing that I think no matter who you are well there's a lot lot lot city and do the right thing you're right about that all right have a good one thank you and Melinda your view as people should not be shielded from investigation simply because they're running for another office exactly I mean if you did something wrong that should tell an investigation you should allow that investigation to go through not because you happen to be running for an office and the person that can call for the investigation may be your political opponents in the future then all bets are off that's that to me is and how it should work the justice system should work on what what office do you hold right now what office are you seeking that will determine whether or not we investigate if there was a crime or any miss doings president trump is having a news conference right now with the president of Turkey Mister order one that will get you some updates on that they met earlier today and they took a few questions before they started their meeting this is president trump talking about how things are going there in north east Syria now that the Turkish forces have moved into that area the border is holding very well the ceasefire is holding very well we've been speaking to the Kurds and they seem to be very satisfied and the the president said do we understand Turkey we still have a strong relationship with them and here is is the president talking about their help on defeating ISIS the Kurds are watching over them and Turkey is also watching over them and Turkey recently has captured over a hundred ISIS fighters and that they are taking care of them some people were suggesting that Mr trump should not meet with her to one right now it's not good timing yeah there are a lot of people that did not want this to go down today they didn't think it was right to have him at the White House he's got to continue the business of the president he has to do that and I think even though Turkey is Turkey is one of our allies but it's a black Turkey the ally of the rookies to their allies all sides I don't trust to on that much but the eve got to go on with the actions of the White House well I I think your skepticism over to Juan is healthy it's it's warranted a lot when you look at a lot of his action but I think you're on solid foundation there Jeff welcome aboard how you doing today Jeff doing great man doing great if you two guys can get one of those Maxell Rancho gift card I would like Melinda to answer the questions that kind of get naman are I'm really getting at I love you a tricky question on any question so here's the deal the present United States have you know the right to look out for the the best interest of the country Biden not been a presidential candidate and president trump says Hey I need you to look into some possible criminal activity does that change the ball game here and that was that's been my question to me it shouldn't it should not matter that this is by noon who happens to be running a for a political office that may be trump's political opponents to me if there was something there that needed to be looked at I don't care if it was by noon if it was president Obama if it was President Bush who it was if you feel there was something that needs to be looked into you should look into it now do you what I've got on her answer do you want the gift card now I wanted you to go take the gift card but into just run he wants Jon to go get some Mexican students all do that what we Bob Armstrong all afternoon long you will I think that's what have to be determined you know I know that the political game and as George Carlin the great comedian that is that it's a big big club in we're not in it it's it's kind of watching these guys play that stuff out but there's a lot of he that speak that gray area stuff you know this within that there's been a lot of money on your money and in in with that with that much gray area you should not overturn an election exactly yeah and to me I like black and white yes the full on proof that I cannot deny then I'm on your side if you can't provide that in its JD I'm sorry I can't but when I got the funds eventually they got the funds eventually Jeff thank you five one two eight three six zero five ninety it's mark Melinda and add three forty one K. LBJ hi hi I'm Jay Farner CEO of quicken loans America's largest mortgage lender I've got great news mortgage interest rates have dropped so if you're thinking about buying a home right now is.

"And the first three that are gonna be up or people that have already given testimony of behind closed doors and they represent woman by Mister Taylor and also a Mister Kent and also the former ambassador to the Ukraine who was fired by the president I madam ambassador a lot of it you'll to testify on Friday the other two are going to testify this coming Wednesday at least twenty six subpoenas have already been issued some of them of already fifteen actually I have appeared before Congress in this is behind closed doors and I want to begin we have all the lawyers on the program this evening I want to begin with you a couple of your of barb whatever democratic lawyers when someone appears behind closed doors does it bother you not at all I don't know that this was really behind closed doors so much as they were Democrats and Republicans yes the committee and what was the problem in the investigation this is an investigation and the forces opposed the forces supporting trump or so vicious and aggressive they do not hold them in public do not hold them in private and get the facts gather the facts in front of Republicans and Democrats the committee members would have AA subjected these people to have great harassment be it could have allowed some of the Republicans to continue to try and intervene in the testimony this was the most responsible way to handle it and there's been a lot of complaining from the Republicans the Republicans couldn't work more admitted to the hearing but is on the committee sooner sure when your response you are a Republican conservative lawyer tonight well I mean I have a completely different point of view about this as far as viciousness concerned I would say representative Schiff has got to be the most vicious lawyer in Washington this is just a star chamber proceeding it's being kind this is an an investigation they're they're taking testimony from from various departments our state department officials who seem to think that they control the United States foreign policy who really would do very well to read the constitution online that the person who makes United States foreign policy is the president of the United States and the fact that you don't agree with that or that you are upset about it is is really not relevant to the fact that he makes foreign policy number one number two all this testimony this going on in private is about a phone call for which we have a transcript now I grant you it's not a word for word transcript but it is amalgamation of the notes of people who actually heard my call here's my follow up question my follow up is going to be to amarcord ject a professor of law at a U. I. C. Chicago mark nice to be back on the shelf great to be back on the on the question of why don't we have an exact confirmation of what was on that call why don't we have a recording of that well the first one is able just a word about the witnesses in the closed door hearing that's this is common procedure that you don't want one witness hearing what another witness testifies because on just adjust their testimony if they're here and it does that make sense Judy do you know that's that's not in a situation like this this isn't a trial the trial is that Congress okay trial will be offended this is this is something going on in our representatives in the Mike Molly at trial we are treated with yours and yeah representing the average person I tried to speak speak to mark's point is that if every if everything was an open testimony somebody could change their testimony based on all of them they lie and and will get them eventually because I I'm just looking at it as a citizen who I was being a communist and what you want to do is you want to remove a duly elected president I think they're gonna try to do that you must do it in the open we must know who the accusers are we must see them and we must know what they have to say and I can only go with what I have great respect for example with a democratic lawyer named Dershowitz I know a lot of people don't like him on the left now because he seems to be principled but there she which says the most important thing the most important way to find the truth is through cross examination absolutely and the Republicans are not permitted the the the president's lawyer is not permitted to be there I'm sorry talking to my family who are not lawyers will the next week yes why not a white wasn't until now this is the kind of started playing for something see your make it by March you were making your point finish your point then we'll move on it's the it's not star chambers how the constitution is set up the house has the obligation to consider impeachment and then it moves to the trials there's nothing in the constitution that says the house gets to do it in the basement no and with with nobody and and the public getting to hear about it and selective leaks appearing on The New York Times website and CNN and that's what's been going on here what do you think of that cocoa the fact that the the leaks that seem to be coming out they are they're basically they make it a transcript of what they did now but not so then they really stand on right now first of all there couldn't be a live up there couldn't be a public investigation there can never be a public investigation this was like a police force trying to gather the facts of what happened public even the trial now if you want some type of cross examination you're going to get it because the rules are in place for the next week and for all of the hearings allow equal amounts of time aging we found time for cross examination by the Republicans and if that's not good enough for you I gotta tell you nothing's going to be good enough for you we do not mind to overturn the election yes you are ash you are fighting over trying the election eighteen minutes and I should try to talk here that this is my time first.

Ukraine Diplomat Bill Taylor Confirms 'Crazy' Quid Pro Quo in Explosive Testimony

"For weeks democratic lawmakers in Washington have been trying to build a case for the impeachment of Donald Trump based on the accusation the president asked his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate his political rival Joe Biden in exchange for further military eight president trump and says he's done nothing wrong that there was no quid pro quo now to some Democrats say they approve may have reached a turning point after the acting ambassador to Ukraine gave evidence before a congressional committee our North America correspondent is David Willis he told me more about William Taylor's testimony bill Taylor is a career diplomat who served on the every administration both Republican and Democrat since nineteen eighty five and he came out of retirement to serve as America's top diplomat in Ukraine and he testified for more than nine hours on Capitol Hill today telling the impeachment inquiry that he discovered that president trump had made the release of nearly four hundred million dollars in US aid money to Ukraine conditional on a public declaration by Ukraine's president that he was launching an investigation into Mr trump's political rival Joe Biden Mister Taylor said that shortly after returning to Kiev in June last year he became aware of two separate channels of US policy making and channels that he said were at olds with each other there was the formal channel of which he was a pond and the informal unofficial channel made up of the US ambassador to the U. golden some learned the former US special envoy to the Ukraine Kurt Volker and president trump's a personal liability Giuliani the official channel he said wanted to talk about political reform of the security situation in Ukraine someone the unofficial one wanted to leverage and stations into Mr trump's political foes with aid money and a promise meeting with the Ukraine president at the White House it's a very interesting testimony was reaction be well William Taylor is a session under oath of course that president trump leveraged and the promise of foreign aid money to an investigation into one of his political opponents is certainly damning not least of because both the president and his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani have previously denied such a charge and Democrats on the committee adversely describes to Taylor's testimony today is damning disturbing shocking one said the date to could be a potential turning point in the impeachment investigation on this evening the White House issued a statement insisting that president trump done nothing wrong and that there was no quid pro quo as it pushes David

How Watergate Set the Stage for the Trump Impeachment Inquiry

"The conversation you just heard between Richard Nixon and his former Attorney General John Mitchell in one thousand nine hundred ninety three was later used news to convict Mitchell on charges related to the Watergate cover up and to send him to prison Mitchell was one of several officials who wound up in prison after after Watergate less than there is that while trump may consider himself to be invincible thanks to that can't indict memo at the DOJ history suggests the people surrounding the president are not always safe. It was the release of these secret tapes that ultimately brought Nixon down but like trump Nixon fought to keep keep those tapes secret he did not admit to his crimes out in the open trump. Meanwhile not only admits to his crime because sometimes commits them on the White House lawn likewise China should start an investigation into the by because what happened in China is just about as bad as what it happened with with Ukraine so I would say that presidents Alinsky if it were me I would recommend that they start it into devices because nobody has any doubt that they weren't crooked. This really should come as no surprise because Donald Trump has repeatedly welcomed and even solicited foreign Kim's Hain help and he has a history of admitting his misdeeds on camera Russia if you listening I hope you're able to find the thirty thousand emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded. Mightily by our press regardless of recommendation I was going to fire. Call me knowing there was no good time to and in fact when I decided to you just do it. I said to myself. I said you know this rusher. Thing with trump and Russia is a made up story. You Might WanNA listen. I don't there's nothing wrong was listening. If somebody called from a country Norway we have information on your Oh. I think I'd want to hear you're like Nixon. Trump has managed to induce lots and lots of government officials from his vice president to the secretary of state diverse White House officials and diplomats to his is George Mitchell Attorney General William Bar to join in trump has already landed people in prison those who committed crimes to please or to help trump along with many others who were indicted and Robert Muller's Russia probe so the question for trump's people the people ladies corrupted as part of his own immensely corrupt government. Is that a dirty they willing going to get an are they risking sharing the fate of people like Mitchell in Flint and Michael Cohen Paul Manafort join now's Elizabeth Holtzman author of the case for impeaching in trump former assistant watergate special prosecutor Jill wine banks. MSNBC legal analyst my widely MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR BARBARA mcquade and Korean jean-pierre appear chief public affairs officer at move on Dot Org. Thank you all for being here. I'M GONNA go right down the middle of my interesting here and go right to Joe Wide Banks because let let me play you. This is congressman. This is actually a Republican congressman back in nineteen seventy three actually calling Nixon's impeachment take a listen to this after having read and reread and sifted and tested this massive information which came before us. I've come to the conclusion that Richard M Nixon Nixon has beyond a reasonable doubt committed impeachable offenses which in my judgment are of such sufficient magnitude egg the Tude that he should be removed from office. That's his name is representative Lawrence Hogan and I believe he is the father of the current governor of Maryland Larry Hogan. If I'm not wrong long so it is possible when people see the evidence they come to the conclusion that the president is committed high crimes and misdemeanors. That's high crimes and misdemeanors but what I want to ask you about jail is the people around Richard Nixon because not not a few of them went to prison. Can you just remind folks who around Nixon wound up not impeachment truck but on the going to jail truck well it was a big group of people who went to jail. It was his White House counsel John Dean who also cooperated with US and was I'm waiting for the John Dean of this scandal to come forward and it may already be the whistle blower it could be Mister Taylor from the State Department in addition his Attorney General John Mitchell went to jail his chief of staff went to jail Mr Haldeman even his chief domestic adviser. Mr Ehrlichman went to jail. There were a big cast of characters that went to jail because they committed crimes James and they did it because he set a tone that it was all okay I m above the law and whatever I do cannot be criminal. We have clear evidence that Donald Trump abetted by William bar is in exactly the same position of I'm invincible. I can do anything he has publicly stated dated that I have total authority to do whatever I want and that was the auditioned memo that attorney general by wrote to get the job so we're in really a the big fix here because the government has become completely lawless and they must be held accountable that is essential and I believe like Acre Representative Hogan that facts matter and I believe that even the most loyal Republicans who are now standing silent they may not be coming out for impeachment different but they aren't defending this terrible threat to national security in fact to world security because by not giving the equipment that was necessary to protect checked Ukraine. They are leaving Ukraine vulnerable to Russian further incursions and that's a terrible thing I mean even Mitt Romney Mitt Romney who who Korean I will remind folks. He did that humiliating auditions where he sat for dinner with Donald Trump to try to become secretary state the irony being had had he actually gotten the job. The likelihood is that Mitt Romney wouldn't have done what might pump pay does it wouldn't have been willing to go around selling these crazy conspiracy theories to prove approve Russia innocent and wouldn't have been willing to ignore subpoenas e but he'd be much more likely to do the right thing. This is what he wrote on twitter. He said when the only American citizen trump single singles out for China's investigations political opponent in the midst of the Democratic nomination process it's strains credulity to suggest it is anything politically motivated so at least there is the chance that there are awesome other Lawrence Hogan's. Maybe yeah I think that's right. I think Republicans a Senate Republicans in particular because we know that lawns who the Republicans who support Donald Trump up in the house. They're all like diehards. They're the ones who out out there. It's the Senate Republicans that we really kind of have to key in on and they've been pretty quiet right. They've been hiding except for four Ben Sasse and as you mentioned Mitt Romney and I think that's probably why Mitt Romney didn't become secretary of state. Donald Trump knew that because what does Donald Trump want right. He wants loyalty which is why he's getting from Pompeo you know where he's getting from pants and it's a one way street with Donald Trump. He will throw all them under the bus as he tried to pence for doing that. Press press press reading where he was just kind of like you should go look at pences phone Oh yeah and threw him under the bus so this is where we are and we're pumpkins have to really think about this. They have to think. Are they really going to really grab onto this wagon this unstable wagon that trump has having now who is a one you know kind of doing this this this this kind of war room on his his own hell bent on doing it and it's a twitter deck and it's really that's it and watching Cable News TV and this is where we are right now. Republicans really have to step up here and the other thing too is. We don't know how this is going to end up. We've never been in this place before impeachment on national security so we we just this is unchartered territory. Yeah absolutely and Barbara WanNA come back because you're so between what green is it which wine banks has said there are a number of people who are allowing themselves to be corrupted along with Donald Trump and the Nixon example is that Nixon didn't go to prison but a whole lot of people around him who you just heard Jill wine banks mentioned went to prison because people willing to commit the crime for him. There are willing to help him to do what he wanted done and once you've done it he may not have liability under that. Doj Memo but you might and I wonder if when you look at the fact that the Attorney General of the United States is flying around the world attempting to prove this conspiracy theory that it was Ukraine Russia that it attack our election when you have the State Department the head of the state our Secretary of State participating on the call lying to the American people about being on the call in which Donald Trump is pressuring a foreign government to help him with an election in which he's committing a crime for which apparently he can't be prosecuted right now where you have senior White House officials hiding hiding the evidence of transcript of Donald Trump's calls in a place that they're not supposed to be in a high security server when you have foreign diplomats pressuring Ukraine essentially trying to strong arm them to help Donald Trump with this conspiracy theory investigations in exchange for aid by could go on and on and on the number of people who are participating participating do any of those people Barbara face potential legal liability. Can any of these people pretend as the vice president and the secretary of state are pretending they don't have to listen to subpoenas but they like trump are above the law no joy any one of these people could be charged with a crime as we saw as Jill explained in the Watergate scandal. You know whenever you've got a public corruption investigation even at the just the garden variety the kind of cases that I was involved evolved with when you approach people you often tell them look you can be a witness or you're going to be a defendant in this case. The choice is yours and already I think we're seeing people people making that. Calculus Kurt Volker resigning abruptly last Friday and agreeing to come testify in bring those text messages which are incredibly Lee Damning. I have seen cases charged on far less where they are talking about the scheme and the scandal. I think Gordon Sunlen has extreme exposure exposure based on what is said in those I think Bill Taylor is someone at the State Department who looks like somebody who wanted to do the right thing.

I was just kinda wondering if there's any other place that I can put it that would be better. No chance. No chance you're doing with you opening that vanguard Roth IRA you're doing exactly the right thing and to keep it simple. You're eighteen I wouldn't look at going in the ankle latest vanguard has target retirement. Twenty sixty five. Yeah. They're looking at those. That's where I put the Roth money. Just let it grow in there. And you do this at eighteen you keep doing it is you're going through school. You hit your early twenties. You keep putting money in that. Roth. What it means is that you will have the ability to bag work much earlier age the most people or you will be able to work a normal life span. And when you retire before the cost of living in Alaska. I think I'd rather tired and like Arizona or something. Great choice keep up what you're doing. And you can put in a max six thousand a year as long as you're earning that or more, but whatever amount of money once you find that target retirement five thousand. Open open that Roth IRA and put in that target retirement fine. Just keep adding to it as you can or automatically have money going into every month,.

"Every dollar. Why it is with us on the car coward show? Hello wyatt. Hey, how're you doing great? Thank you Wyatt. And where in these great United States. Do you live? Trillion was so Alaska, so I think that must have been really funny for you to just hear me say it was the most expensive state to live and in the United States. Kind of catch me off guard a little bit. So so how can I be of service to you? So I am eighteen I'm in college. Working and I have so I'm paying for college. As I go, so far, I am completely free. And I am just over a thousand dollars already in vanguard that thousand and vanguard in a Roth IRA or do you have in a regular investment account right now I have about seven hundred investment account, but I'm working on switching it all over into a Roth IRA open like two weeks ago. That's excellent. Because you do a Roth your tax bracket is he worked your way through school your tax brackets like nothing. And so having money that goes into a Roth at you, just leave alone and have it grow tax free. How old are you in college? I'm eighteen years old. Wait a minute. You're eighteen you're working and paying your way through college. And you're throwing off enough. Excess cash you're thinking about saving for retirement who motivated you where did it come from? The you have such incredibly great money habits was a family member or friend. High school. I went to is like a pretty good high school. It had a. Financial personal finance class. I was just kinda wondering if there's any other place that I can put it that would be better. No chance. No chance you're doing with you opening that vanguard Roth IRA, you're doing exactly the right thing. And to keep it simple. I would you're eighteen I would look at going in the I think the latest fan guard has target retirement twenty sixty five. Yeah. It's been looking at those. That's where I'd put the Roth money. Just let it grow in there. And you do this at eighteen you keep doing it as you're going through school? You hit your early twenties. You keep putting money in that. Roth. What it means is that you will have the ability to bag work at a much earlier age the most people or you will be able to work normal life span. And when you retire you'll even be able to afford the cost of living in Alaska. Although I think I'd rather retire in like, Arizona or something. Well, great choice keep up what you're doing. And you can put in a max of six thousand a year as long as you're earning that or more, but whatever amount of money once you find that target retirement find you need a thousand to open it open that Roth IRA and put it in that target retirement fund. You just keep adding to it as you can or automatically have money going into every month. And the more you put in the more financial security it will create for you down the road tax free. Angelique is with us on the Clark Howard show. Hello angelique. Hi. How are you? Great. Thank you Angelique. You're facing a rough deal right now, aren't you? I am that's a difficult decision to make him. And I'm hoping for some advice on what path to go is. Let me hear what's the story. All right. So I've got four children and we've had a rough couple of years, man. Basically, I'm about forty six thousand dollars in debt for credit card, mostly medical and dental expenses. But if you took all of that enrolled into one one big number, it's forty six thousand dollars. So let me say something to you. Half of people who have debt problems have it because of medical and the thing about medical debt is that it is different than lifestyle debt because medical debt didn't come about. Because of the way you live your life it came about because the circumstances that invaded your life. So exactly so people have medical debt usually are not in a position where they get the debt paid off they go right back to charging it up where people who did it with lifestyle and up having a really hard time changing their habits. So I I have an excellent credit score and have always with very carefully and tried to put money away for the house and. Didn't even have a balance on my credit card. Sure. Well, two years now all of a sudden, I'm I'm literally swimming in it will I hope that the medical expense had a good outcome. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Everything is better now, but it was around three surgeries and saw serious issue. Anyway, so tell me what are you thinking of doing to deal with this credit card debt? Well, when I look at what I would who Iowa to two of the medical expense companies I've been able to get financed and if I can pay one of them often a year it'll be zero percent interest. So I wanna keep paying on that one. And I have another one to the hospital they said they would finance interest free for I think two years, so I've got a payment plan without. So I set those aside because there's zero percent interest. And I figure I I can't lose their but the other four are fourteen hundred dollars a month on spending on making those payments and interest rates are between eight percent and twenty four percent. But I have a two different things set aside for retirement, one of them is a, and I don't really understand what it is. It's a security benefit total value annuity five year TI index. Yeah. You can't you can't Santa nudity without all kinds of tax problems. Well, looking at the statement that they? Sent me recently. It says that the account value is fifty five sixty six thousand dollars in cash surrender value forty seven thousand dollars. I don't touch it. Don't touch it. Because not only do you have a massive penalty. Sounds like it's seventeen percent penalty, which is one of the reasons I despise annuity so much, but you also generate severe tax problems if you touch it. So it's. Undervalued doesn't include the tax penalty of like what thirty percent now the tax penalty. Usually if you touch retirement funds will be forty some odd percent. Wow. So that that take that Al at the table take that out of consideration. What else are you considering? I also have a retirement it's like a life insurance plan that I pay four hundred dollars a month for it's like a three hundred and fifty thousand dollar life insurance that when I reached retirement age we'll start I start drawing from it. And if I should die, then whatever's left of the three hundred fifty thousand goes to my family if I don't die will continue to pay me monthly while living. All right. So in that case are you allowed to borrow from that policy. I am I looked at it recently. And I think it could borrow maybe fourteen thousand dollars or something what interest rate they allow you to borrow at. I'm not certain. All right. This gets pretty complicated here, and that may be viable option. But you got. Find out what the rate is. But I think in this case I would love for you to go sit down with the counselor at an affiliate of the national foundation for Credit Counseling. NFC dot org. Go meet with somebody, and they're very good at dealing with people who have had overhang for medical debts, and may be able to help you come up with a workable way to pay this debt off deathly without doubt. Do not touch that annuity and only want you to touch that life insurance..
