"W. all right back into this bill Cunningham show for Monday August fifth twenty nineteen George of Walker filling in for Willie today I'd seven hundred WLW your phone calls always welcome we're gonna guest I want to squeeze in Sam real quick before we get to mark Walters hello Sam we'll take a look what you've done no I don't have a lot so you should not be affected by you but by download the owning and talk about it actually there is that connotation because if if okay you got a lot of third and current if their label what they are psychological I'm not new to order but yeah I did for me disbarment high population of the thank god because they might have a country how are we with that all right well and certainly is not the answer the answer's certainly not gun free zones to speak on that and other topics regarding your second payment writes Mister mark Walters who is the spokesman for the second member of foundation and a board member of the citizens committee for the right to keep and bear arms mark good afternoon thank you for joining us today good afternoon great to be with you thank you all right so we always hear about most of these mass shootings whether it be in a church whether it be in a large entertainment area like say the polls night club or a country music festival in Las Vegas I don't know that people who were armed with guns could have done much in that particular situation but these gun free zones always seem to be the places where these perpetrators no they're going to have free reign to kill as many people as they want correct yeah and the killer in el Paso told us that if you read the manifesto if you haven't listen I would suggest that you do it's twisted sick but I would I would hope that you educate yourself and read what this quick twisted sick mind spelling of I I saw portions of it yeah at the very bottom as you as you may recall if not I'll let you know now the very bottom he said it is not cowardly to attack the low hanging fruit no if you know your target is hardened don't attack live to fight another day what is sick demented evil monster was telling us was go after those areas where you won't get hurt in the process he was telling you that a gun free zone essentially this is where to go yeah it was a very chilling document to read the the how nonchalantly was about talking about murdering his fellow American citizens was really despicable it was amazing to may mark that one of the knee jerk responses to what happened in the case of the Dayton shooting the Oregon district yes since he was wearing body armor the key is banning body armor now you know I yeah I saw that this morning and I just I what are you kidding me no we put that in our tell you why because this is the knee jerk emotional response we got a band everything let me make a couple points about dating I have very personal attachment to Dayton Ohio both my mother and father grew up there my wife retire family lived in Dayton spring borough all of my cousins I have over eighty of them my mother is sixteen brothers and sisters sisters all grew up in Dayton I was born right there were you are in Cincinnati Saint Joe's I've been every funeral of the family every family reunion I know that are you logged into the organ district I know we're not peppers's I've stood right there where that occur I know that area my sister in law I found out yesterday before I did my national radio program turns out knows the killer he's a professional photographer and took his high school photographs is graduation photographs well this is home to me this is my cell I I call my family to make sure they're okay my niece god bless you getting ready to go to college in Akron making sure she wasn't there with a fake ID one night and that happened to be the night does it home but the difference is my knee jerk reaction is not we've got to get rid of guns my knee jerk reaction is why in the hell is this happening and what are we going to do why is this generation doing this because this was not an issue when I was a child it wasn't an issue when you were a child know what what the dynamic in play and unfortunately I hate to tell you when your listeners if I just we are we are Americans changing technology is changing things we don't know and don't have the answers to some of the stuff but when this check is finally Rittner cashed on there I'm I should say when the second bomb attack and we look back we're going to find out that all of these pieces to the puzzle that includes violent video games include instant access to to technology my kid by asking today my son just sort of high school I think what's the difference in the cafeteria between there and the elementary school you with all major he's nobody talks is quiet silent there's no noise because all of these phones there's a lack of personal communication is that healthy these things combined I believe are at the root cause of this look I know you know is what I do but a string of coincidences eventually look back on well I'm not so sure of the coincidences anymore well you talked about the lack of interpersonal communication in high schools as opposed to the elementary or middle schools because they are on these devices on their mobile devices instead of actually recognizing and talking to each other this is a great sign of societal decay to me right because as you mention if you're not paying attention to the human beings around you you become desensitized to the fact that they are human beings correct and and you lose that personal connection then it's it's nothing to just look at at these people as I don't know as is obvious number killing in a video yes numbers on a on a spreadsheet or whatever yeah you're absolutely correct about that little box head out to the I like to read some of the crazy left wing such box has a study out now today they reported on it anyway that twenty five percent of millennials well we don't know twenty five percent of anybody what we do know is twenty five percent of the eighteen hundred responded that age group for this study said that they were they had no friends but when you combine access to this they do see here's the but they do have friends they have cyber friend that aren't real friends your people in chat rooms these stupid social media wanna get me started on Twitter sure if you don't have Twitter and you don't need it for your work like I do one fortunately stay away from it at the vile despicable hateful place you don't need it when they when they hooked me up with Twitter my wife helped me get on Twitter because on you're gonna be out you got to be a Twitter you got to be a Twitter and I just stopped posting after awhile because you're right I didn't even want to look I don't even look at it anymore mark I'd become right here yeah it's awful I come in the things people said about me on on you know when you go into somebody's room you you lead a truck off I mean I'm a talk radio host in two hundred sixty radio stations you got to have a yeah I have a thick skin when you're out there sure particular when you're talking about this topic you know the haters are out there what what it what it does is it brings out people's crew Hey Paul hateful next when they can hide behind this anonymity and use those two things we used to call posible ponder now appendages that do nothing but type hate on these on the social media forms you cannot tell me that all of this combined is not heavy in years it absolutely is having a terrible impact when you remove that humanity if you were just talking about you remove that feeling that this is the first person not a real person our children as were growing up in his formative years look I got in a fistfight when I was a kid I never thought about pulling out a firearm and going to the school and we never even crossed our mind no you're right that's what our lunch rooms were filled with noise people were talking to each other what a one last time what is going on college campuses they can be boyfriend and girlfriend walking not even communicating well they're they're both looking down yeah and and run into the tree stumps on the sidewalk because they you know they can't walk and chew gum and have a relationship at the same time because of the addiction to social media but besides social media what else he said you mentioned at the top there's a myriad of things going on here that have changed the American culture and society all right made us more prone to these kinds of attacks by particularly millennials there is an age range there the demographics are almost always the same what else besides social media and technology has has causes do you think well I I don't I wish I I that's I think that's probably the million dollar question I wish I had the answer to that what I do know was the answer is not to blame the guns in my say and the tools that are used by over a hundred plus million people safely every day every day was not harmed anybody the tens of millions of people who use these guns every day safely and responsibly are not the problem these are mutually exclusive events the criminal event is mutually exclusive from by going to the range later today after this program you should have nothing to do with one another but I I have I have to go back to the to talk about on a regular basis on both my shows is mainstream media is pushing such a tech is doing just terrible damage to the psyche of this nation you've now got entrenched parties because of positions of the mainstream media combined with the hate for online forms like Twitter and others four people were not even if they only wish to each other anymore they saw over here what they saw on we saw over here what they saw in the two of them are never coming together and meet in the middle I was speaking with Alan Gottlieb founder of the second amendment foundation of my program last night and he said I don't see this genie going back in the bottle I don't see it we're going to have to search as Americans Donald Trump said today we are going to have to step back and start taking a look at what in the heck is going on that you have a lot of people do what they did have access to firearms this wouldn't be an issue and there's somebody out there right now listening you go there you go you got that now you got it we got to get rid of all the guns to which I would say to them you believe that are hundreds of millions of guns in this country they aren't going away so if you want to have it actual rational discussion about this you've got to be intellectually honest and start from a position of truth not wishful thinking unicorn trough mark just real as as you mentioned in in in the case of the Dayton shooter and the el Paso shooter they both legally obtained their firearms the tools that they use to ply their evil twisted plot but if you ban guns the people who don't give an iota about the laws against murder aren't gonna give will a an iota about laws against obtaining firearms they will find a way to get that when you're right they're not going away there's they're more hand guns and they are the more guns in this country than there as their population so I mean there there's there's a gun for every man woman and child in this country and you make them illegal or you quote unquote ban them the people who don't care about the laws against killing each other aren't going to care about the laws banning guns they will find a way to find the tool that they're going to use.
