"Say please. I'm begging you. it's like seeing chas times ridgemont high woke up in such a good mood. And then you say something like that. You just take me back. It's like let me say this in terms of yields. Yeah maybe they are going. I have no idea. I didn't read that palmer short-story whatever it was. But i'll say this. I thought one of the fed's mandate is stable. Prices and ten year yields going from one thirteen a week ago to one thirty five today is anything but stable and by the way if we had that kind of volatility in the equity market. That's what we'd lead with without question and we'd spent forty five minutes talking about it. Something is missing the bond market. I'll say it again then. I'm sure we'll ask me on twitter or role as is but there's no way in god's green earth that us ten-year-old should move twenty two basis points in the course of four trading days. Maybe that's just the new normal. I hate that phrase to along with goldilocks new normal. But that does seem that. The volatility in the bond market seems to be normalized at this point. Tim i mean we're talking about one. Seven four nine two nuts. Let me let me really bum guy out of day before hump day and obviously three months before turkey day It maybe maybe it's green shoots again. Today was a day where i we. Hey talking politics on this show thankfully for our audience of the politics around. This could have been a two point three trillion dollar bill that we weren't know how we're going to pay for it. That was gonna also really result in attacks on corporate america. Which certainly was talked about early on by this administration. I think this is a victory. This is a deal that corporate america's not paying for we're not seeing tax hikes. We are seeing washington work together. I'm not getting carried away on that. But i i think the fact is a twenty five basis point move off over bought treasuries and yields sold One eleven or so. And i just that was a place that the technical folks like charter and and Mister barone came on and told us we had to back fill and get there anyway. I just you know. I think that the ten year bond is someone held hostage to the dynamics around the fed. And also just really where we are with. With how people expect the tapering to move your. I'm not as concerned about it. As guy he's right to point out that this is supposed to be the deepest bond market in the world. The long end of the curve has volatility. It always has. And i think these kind of moves are telling you that people are all over the place as they look at growth. I think growth is better than people think die. May i ask you. And i don't know i'm asking permission because i'm gonna go ahead and ask and if you want to answer fine if you don't then i'm outta luck but why is it troubling to you. The bond moves that we are seeing so obviously. I'm a lot older than most people realize when i was in my nascent days of my career for couple basis point move in a currency or bond yield and. Now we're seeing ten basis points moves regularly. it doesn't make any sense to me again. Why does it concern me. Because bond volatility in my opinion led to what we saw in the fall of two thousand and nineteen you subsequently saw volatility that spring. Now you will say correctly. That was on the back of covert but i think the seeds were sown long before and we starting to see that bond volatility again and that's concerning with a vix around sixteen and a half seventeen. That's not taking into consideration. What's going on in the bond market. I don't think yields should move that way. Maybe i'm wrong. Maybe the new normal and man. I really hate saying things like that. But i don't think it's anything but normal is it currently a precursor possibly to volatility in the stock market. Maybe although twenty two basis points is a lot on a very low base you know in the olden days which guy. I'm sure you'll remember. Twenty two basis point was not that big of a deal on a different date. You know on different denominator so I think it's just a barometer for sentiment which changes so quickly now. And it's sort of the quickest way to express that i mean it is one three. That was pretty low. That seems like ages ago but it was only last week. Was that really just last week. That i mean that is a big movie see bank stocks react very violently both ways I don't know if that troubles me i'm sort of. I think the fed is trying to do a good job of getting the market ready and the market is a little bit on a trigger finger over this taper. One is it could begin. How's it going to begin as a just bond purchases. How when will that start much. Will it be so. It's a nervous market. I mean we were just talking about that. Barclays came out this morning saying that they're going to announce the taper in september. They're going to do their first. Move in december of this year which is very early in terms of the the time line and a consensus view. Morgan stanley also moved up their time. I mean if they stopped buying let's say nbs or corporate bonds. I mean would that really spooked the market. I would not really. The corporate bonds wasn't a big component. I think is something that people think that the housing market just fine. We don't really need that right now. I think it's important to go back and remember after the financial crisis we've obviously talked about this when they started to taper in december two thousand and thirteen. They didn't come off zor until the end of two thousand fifteen zero interest rate policy so they took a long time. I think there's a lot of investors would be very happy to see them moving toward normalization. So i'm not so sure that we're going to have such a negative reaction to that. I think of anything that might give them confidence that we're going to the other side of this. I think the most important thing is like we're thinking about risk assets as we think about where we are. They give to think about global central banks. How much they put into this just to get us right here. And that's the thing that i have a problem. I'm not worried about the ten year treasury yield going from one percent to one point eight back to one point one or anything like that. The stock market keeps raging. most risk assets. Can't like bolt everything not bolted. Down has just been going higher so the question really is about valuation in about potential bubbles. And what happens. And i think that's where guys going with this. I don't think the volatility very liquid treasury market is a concern it really comes down to valuation and how long this can withstand how much further. We can kind of inflate coming up. Big box battle shares.

"Day of the year falling more than seven hundred points and check out the ten year yield healing. One point one nine percent just two weeks ago. Your next guest said one and a quarter percent was the key level to watch for yield. So now that we've crashed below that where are we headed premier. Let's go off the charts with chris brown of strategic. Chris take it away carnahan. This i think going through one. Twenty five is certainly a psychological break of what people perceived to be a very important level. But let's keep things in perspective. You'll peaked at one. seventy five. In march they were something like fifty sixty basis points at this point last summer. That one ten to one. Twelve range is the fifty percent mid point between those two levels. So i think it's early to say this has been some apocalyptic breakdown here. I do suspect you'll ultimately autumn somewhere in this one. Ten twelve fifteen. We had seen sentiment shift dramatically over the last number of weeks from inflation fears just a month ago to row fears cova fears right now so i think the sentiment on the street is changing. That's helpful and i think ultimately putting low in on yield as far as what this means for equities i want to show you an important slide. Something we've been talking about in our work over really the last month or two that the correction that we saw inequities today really can be traced back many weeks for many months ago. The average stock one thousand stock is actually already down about an percents From the high. So there's been weekdays under the surface for awhile industrial renounce something like ten. The average bidding stock is down about ten as well if you go to even some of the week pockets of this market the average material stock down about thirteen average discretionary down about the same average energy stock down about sixteen. So you know this. Correction is not one day all a lot of these groups. The average issue really peaked about two months or so ago. So if we put this in context of the broader and several have mentioned it di- you talked about it. Then you talk about at the fifty day. Moving average has been big support along the way. I'm not convinced it's gonna ultimately hold through the summer two hundred days about thirty eight ninety five adding about five points day i do think ultimately the snp and the two hundred will meet somewhere around four thousand over the next month or two. So what do we want to own in that arm in. This is gonna sound silly. But i think the best events year may actually offense. The pockets of the marketing have already corrected. Are frankly pretty oversold. A under the surface. I wanna the industrials. This is the x. ally and that bottom panel are the flows into an out of the x. ally. You really seem complete liquidation already. Over the last several months utah flows through next ally. The correction here has already happened. I think if we get another leg lower in the broader market. It's the big tech way. It's the fame. Wish that get you there. It's the offensive. Sickles like industrials may actually prove to be defensive. This time around. Thank you very much. Christopher breaking down the move on the tenure getting a lot of attention today. Let's trade at tim. What do you make of the moves today in what the bond market is telling us. Well i mean first of all. Here's a psa for when yields eventually get to one seventy five or god forbid two percents folks. This is a good thing. It's not reason to jump out of windows. And i you know it's it's it's extraordinary that that that's also where we were But so so. Look if chris right One twelve to one fifteen or maybe even here Jeff brings up carter's note either way Who's been most highly sensitive to the moving rates it's been banks We come through an earnings period where people forget the credit quality in the banking. Sector's as good as it's been in a long long time i'm not gonna say in my lifetime but you know who knows and also what the banks have also gone through in terms of their ability to Pass capital standard tests and get more back to investors Also just a trend we've seen in bank earnings over the last four or five years. Which is that. They don't trade well when they get the earnings announcements. And as you start to sort through here. I think you're gonna see a lot of the bank start to rally so look after all this pain Both in banks exactly christmas theme some of these places to play offense to me. Our financials industrials. I'm not sure. I'm ready to go there because i think there's still going to be a lot more concern around growth i don't think the delta variant concerns go away for another four to six weeks but I do think banks have priced in a lot of pain. And you've gotten reaffirmation of credit quality capital markets plans guy. What do you make of the charts. That mister barone brought us to ten year which fascinating of christmas on thursday and he said the was probably going down to one and a quarter hold and bouncing quite frankly. That's exactly what happened if you do. Remember traded under one twenty five trading days later ten year yields to one forty one so that was a prussian. call. I didn't see this move down to one thousand nine coming. I don't think. Chris necessarily did either but what he said then is holds shoe. Now you're still talking about an upward sloping moving average. Which typically it bodes pretty. Well if you think rates go higher which. I do so didn't see this one coming but i do think rates go higher from here. Well coming up the.

R. I want to mention in P. R. in juxtaposition to Rudolph guiliani and be other leads attorneys for the president J. Seki about hearing like your model are you sure here's a radio show that is carried by thirteen hundred and fifty stations by his only repeatedly on the show hello here's one point this is a hard thing to do and show he appears on it arguing for the president campaigning for the presidency and you police exactly who is it this is supposedly carries them thirteen hundred and fifty radio stations yeah well first of all OJ secular alive was broadcast on about eight hundred fifty stations I know that but I'm not sure who carries it and I'm not sure how much tax dollars they get I'm not aware that that the the the the the program that he's on is is supported by tax dollars well I'll tell you what well that's the issue you see as the tax dollars I mean I have no problem with anyone say whatever they want to on on a private enterprise outlet but certainly with our tax dollars were involved that's that's another issue so what tax dollars are are involved in J. secular all you need is a tax exempt organization I know but the though of whether he's tax exempt or not the the doesn't alter the fact that if he is if there are tax dollars that are being used to support his radio program I'd like to know who who is sending that over tax dollars the only people in this country who broadcast to get tax dollars are PBS and NPR well yeah at the other side of it is this you know I'm like you sound like you I'd like to see you on increase our yes to to the rest of us well there that unless we personally honest about it Michael it's never gonna happen for one thing it's a competing network and for another thing my view points are not view points that are considered politically correct on networks such as NPR one eight.

But expressed frustration over the lack of context and resulting news coverage of the case, according to a person familiar with their discussion. Mr. Muller urge Mr. barter. Release more information in his letter to Mr. bar, Mr. Muller said Mr. bar summary, do not fully capture the context nature and substance of this offices work and conclusions. According to a person familiar with Mr. Muller's letter, Mr. Muller said the summary left. The public confused about critical aspects of the investigation and its results. It was interesting because as mother rights, apparently, according to the the article Muller excuse me bar s Muller if he wished to review the summary. And he said no before he released it to the public. So we offered it to him. So he could go over it. And Muller said, no. And then Muller wrote him a letter saying on not happy with the context, even though nothing is misleading or inaccurate. The points really moot though, because that was when the four page letter came out and now the Muller report is out. The mullahs report didn't and you might have gotten more context and more information in one but as bar said the day after look when he was accused this is it's not a summary. It's a conclusion of the investigation, not a summary conclusion. So this is going nowhere. I do believe Newt Gingrich last night talk. And sorry didn't seem talk. I read the the interview that he did. And he stated that this is just a leak to embarrass bar the day before he goes before the Senate, and then maybe the house on Thursday. That's all it is. Because nothing is there. There's nothing misleading. There was nothing. Inaccurate. In his conclusions in his four-page conclusion. But he stated because there was criticism. This isn't a summary, and you know, wasn't supposed to be summer. It's glushkov. These are the conclusions. They came to. The rest will be released in the mother report. And it was. And we had questions and some of those questions were answered on where they were. We thought they might be trying to go on obstruction of Justice, which they don't have a case. And having the full Muller report from what we know nothing made the case for obstruction of Justice. We disagree with the people who say it does. And we've said just like impeachment. You wanna go from peach mint, gopher go ahead. Do it. The same unobstructed of Justice thought yet a case, and you should have said we advise that you do this. And they didn't they didn't do that. Which was his job. That was his only job. So all of this is on Muller. You had the chance to do as soon as you gave deference to the Justice department will then that's on you. When you said, no, you guys decide what to do. So this is really going nowhere. But I do agree with Gingrich. This was just this was leaked in order to embarrass bar today. That's all this is all part of the politics of what is continuing in all of this. But it doesn't go anywhere. That's the point. Oh, we got him. No. You don't I don't even know by reading this by reading any of the articles which way Mr. Muller believed there wasn't proper context..

"Break this little piece of audio down here. Okay. All right. Okay. This is Adam Schiff on morning, Joe, by the way, because of all of this people in all starting to use the had to be very careful with his name. Here are starting to use shifts name, for example, don't. Don't shift me, right. I think Biden will become a name. Look, don't Biden me. These are all becoming part of our culture now. Well, it like if you're like in line at a Bank for those under eighty your Bank used to actually have buildings. It wasn't just an app you had to. Okay. There's this this stuff. It's papers actually, not papers Lennon, but it's it's green kind of a dark. Green has numbers on it. Indicates the value of said piece of linen. And it's not ending check. Yeah. Okay. So you're standing in line at a grocery store. Okay. For those under the age of sixty grocery stores used to have buildings. It wasn't just Amazon and whole foods. At delivered. You're standing in line someplace right now all sudden someone in front of someone behind you, you just notice that their way way up in your business. Do did you just Biden my hair? Did you really just Biden my hair, really? But Adam Schiff was on morning Joe on MSNBC. Uh-huh. And I'm going to break this down a little bit for me to stop the audio. All right to to make comments. I was playing this during our pre show or during our midshow meeting. Right. But I wanna plate now in and stop it at the important parts. Here we go. This is Willie Geist asking him questions. Seeing you accept the fundamental conclusion that four page letter that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians I accept a molars conclusion. Okay. I accept Muller's conclusion right now, let's go to the next sentence by soon Bari would record misrepresent this that he could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt the crime of conspiracy. He never said that the lie continues. We broke it down the other day. We went exactly as to what bar said. That's not what bar said on collusion. Right. He said there was no conspiring. There was no cooperation. He didn't say there wasn't evidence to prove a crime. He said there was no cooperation or collusion. Illegal or legal, right. That they didn't do it. So ships says I agree with what he said. And then misrepresents what he said, right? Let's continue the conversation here. But as I've said a long, there's plenty of evidence of collusion and corrupt co mingling of work between the Trump campaign and the Russians, but I I fully accept as a prosecutor that he couldn't prove on a reasonable doubt that crime energy because I've made this distinction on your show. I've always said, well, there was ample evidence of collusion in the public record. Whether Bob Muller could prove the crime of conspiracy bond reasonable doubt would be up to him, and I would accept his judgment. And I do, but you're right. You said on this show and others that there is direct evidence of collusion where you wrong about that. Now that you've seen the summary of the tussle council's report. No because I think what you see in the public record is direct evidence. When the Russians through an intermediary offered dirt on the Clinton campaign is part of what's described as the Russian government effort to help the Trump campaign and Donald Trump's sounded play pivotal role. That campaign says if it's what you say, it is I would love it and sets up a meeting to receive that that. So that's it. They're going back to the Trump meeting. Right. Which was what according to the it was all about opposition research. It was all about getting dirt on right? What they what they believed at the beginning. What Trump junior believed that in and of itself is not illegal. We'll know. But it ended the it never ended with any type of even legal collusion. They got nothing. That's my whole point is even the intent to get any kind of dirt on Hillary is not a legal. In fact, let's see what the DNC in the Hillary campaign. Do right? But but they never got he saying that they colluded with the Russians they had a meeting in got it. But, but they know they never they never got to the point of colluding with the Russians because there was nothing to collude with right? Neither side neither the Russian lawyer or excuse me, the Russian lawyer was. Not attempting to collude or give the Trump administration anything. No the willingness to get opposition research is not collusion. It may be an attempt to get opposition research. That's my whole point. But there was no he's saying there's direct evidence of collusion. But you never got to that point of collusion. Yeah. That's my whole point even legal. You you have the emails back and forth and Trump junior had no problem coming out and saying, oh, here's the entire string emails. He then would they said we they may have dirt on Hillary when we talked about adoption nothing ever happened. And so that's thread that he's hanging onto which goes nowhere. Now. The reason I bring this up is because if you go to the drudge report, you know, the the the big story from MSN dot com that they have someone Muller's team sees seen their findings as more damaging for Trump and bar revealed. And so as we have said all along what would that be? Will it certainly can't be on collusion because there's nothing there and bar made it clear in the report that there was nothing there. And that's why we said it's interesting that Adam Schiff, and he knows he's seen it. He seen all the information out there. I have no reason not to believe bar. But then he misquotes would bar actually said. And he knowingly does it because that has been called up in the media a number of times and chip has been called out publicly on it. So shift knows he doesn't even have an argument, but continues to use it. But in the MSN story, they say. Representatives of the Justice department. And the special counsel declined to comment on Wednesday on the views both inside Muller's office and the Justice department. But they go in and talk about the fact in the story that has something to do with. Whether he obstructed the inquiry. While Mr. Muller made no decision on his other main question, whether the president legally obstructed the inquiry he explicitly stopped short of exonerating, Mr. Trump. But that's what the MSN story goes to the fact of that let me find it here here it is at the same time. Mister, Barone is advisors express their own frustrations about Mr. Muller and his team mister Barone other Justice department officials believe the special counsels fell short of their task by declining to decide whether Mr. Trump legally obstructed the inquiry, according to government officials after Muller made no judgment on the obstruction matter. But it seems like we're the story is going is all on obstruction of Justice, which there is no case. And so that's what the story is about the story is about well, what they're saying is, you know, we we looked into the fact that he tried to obstruct will what they're talking about his Komi and Komi has said that he said that this week when he was interviewed. Remember, that's why he wanted the whole special counsel because he thought that he can make the case that by getting fired by Trump that Trump obstructed Justice. And therefore since Trump fired him there must be a crime somewhere that he couldn't even identify right? So that's what we believe in. That's why we said it we brought this up two or three times because nobody I I don't know many who have analyzed as even on the right and said, well, what are they why didn't why didn't Muller do anything? And we said all along one of the we think possible reasons is you had attorneys that worked for him that wanted to make the case that Trump obstructed Justice by firing Komi..

"To invest in. Deploy those things are all true here. But in some instances, this merger is actually worse. We're actually eliminating both of the smaller maverick competitors that challenge and discipline the behavior of the two larger companies in the marketplace there also. Increasing harms to the prepaid market low income, consumers the lifeline marketplace. And then lastly, the roaming and MVP no marketplace. Those those harms are exacerbated here compared to eighteen IQ, Mr. Sheldon, if a sprint employee is working at a retail store, and they lose their job because they are working across the street from a T mobile store is to claim being made that that employees will get another retail job in that area. Or do you think rather it's potentially that these jobs will be displaced at best replaced by different types of jobs in different communities. Will you put your mic on first of all it may not be a sprint employees that loses that job? And that's kind of the problem with the numbers here. Most of the Mike torch most of the stores. Independent contractors who don't have sprint employees. But I don't see how even a sprint employees say in Pittsburgh. Would lose their job in Pittsburgh because of consolidation of stars and end up in Pittsburgh that might end up in Nebraska. Mr. ledger keeps his word and office employee job. But I don't see how they're going to because of the concentration of stores after this company, emerges if it merged that have twice the number of stores that either AT and T of Verizon has now. So it's gonna be closed. No matter. What happens? Thank you. Mister barone. What precedent is set by allowing competitors to merge to achieve evolutionary step in technology. I mean, what happens then for six year seven g and how did the government view silman or similar claims for three g and four g. Yeah. That's a good question. So as you'll recall in AT, and T T mobile, the lar- the one of the claims the companies made was that they couldn't deploy for coverage to the entirety of their their network footprints to the rest of the country if they didn't merge, the government evaluated the evidence that was before it. They rejected that they found that that was not credible. They found that competition was likely to lead to deployment not consolidation. The same is true here. And so essentially, if you if you're if you buy into the the argument that we need to allow these companies to merge for five G, by the way that that is directly contrary to the statements. They've made to Wall Street and investors even very recently..
