"Toe to spur the industry. Secondly, working, Miss Smith had mowed a secretary that above you are secretary to be your four naval hats with you, and I just brought that to people with those cats are Well, three of the hats from ships that I was on that were being refueled with bio fuel, and it was an amazing experience. Middle Pacific Ocean of much. The refueling process on the Navy was basically a with their new green fleet making commitments about feels, I think marine and the issue to our future for consonant figure out ways in which we can encourage that we needed we obviously the USDA secretary closely with their with his or her partner, T P. A. To make sure that folks at EPA fully understand or appreciate the benefits. This industry in terms of jobs in terms of the environment. In terms of life cycle analysis, This industry has made great strides and becoming much more environmentally friendly than it was at the beginning. And sometimes I fear that we're still working off of old research. New research would success it indicate that this is an industry that is providing environmental benefits clean rare, for example. On making sure that as they make decisions relative to the renewable fuel standard that they're consistent that they are consistent with the rule. They're consistent with the law. The waiver system was designed for small refineries that we're having trouble and difficulty was not a design for large scale refineries. They're owned by Exxon and Chevron to receive a waiver. So I would hope and will certainly strongly urge EPA to go back to a day when those waivers are very, very, very infrequently granted on Ben. Finally, I think there's a way in which we can you utilize ust resource is on work with Congress to increase those resources to build out the infrastructure to make it easier for hire blends to be available to consumers. Why, Because at the end of the day consumers benefit they have less expensive fuel. They have a cleaner burning fuel and the field that's better for the environment. And as we as we look at the future, I think biofuels continue to play a role in reducing emissions on providing job opportunities in all parts of the country. Thank you. I know except to ask questions here. You earlier discussed some issues with senator Stab. Now, um, about climate and environmental issues. I know it's gonna be one of your focus is and I believe I like so many on the committee do that Farmer should be a major part of this on Gwen of the ways to do that. In addition to the sequestration that I heard you talked about, it's getting the data and making sure we know how the best practices work things like cover Cockcroft. Say, happened to know, having spent some time in Iowa that there was a pilot program in your state about that on The USDA is so important on that front, certainly certainly should read the data and research is important. As I said earlier. I think we need to up our game as it relates to the data and research in this area. Happy to take a look at the pilot figure out ways in which that could be assisted in ways in which potentially the benefits over the information from that pilot can be distributed throughout the countryside and and to the extent replicated one of the keys will cover crops is creating market opportunities for this cover crops. It's one thing to ask. Farmers to essentially put the cover crop on there for Saul Health. It's another thing when we're asking them to incurring additional expense. So I would hope that we'd be able to figure out a way is in which we could mitigate the impact financially a same by creating new markets or creating ways in which they could be in Senator encouraged to do more cover crop it. Thank you. In last, Senator Cornyn and I included a provision in the 2018 farm bill, creating a national animal vaccine and veterinary countermeasures Vaccine Bank. And a program involving preparedness as we've seen from this pandemic, which hasn't hit our animals in any big way, but it's sure been a lot of people. What are your plans for implementing and improving animal disease preparedness and response policies that USDA? I think it's fair to say there's a condition that animal health and human health are connected. We have to understand This is the one health system on we need to make sure that we're in a position to re to first and foremost be able to detect more quickly at the farm gate. When there's a problem so we can respond were quickly We need to make sure that we are have in place appropriate quarantine efforts. We have to make sure that we have in place Theobald itty, too. Take to identify the problem as quickly as possible. And to your point there needs to be the capacity to produce the vaccine and or store the vaccine to be able to respond quickly because the reality is if we don't respond quickly. There is not just the risk to animals into the markets, but there's also a risk people. I think we have to understand the interconnection between the two. Thank you very much, and I'll ask my questions on the record on Cuba. You and I share an interest in continuing to work on production issues and trade with Cuba as well as broadband and the C O P program. So thank you very much. Thank you very much, And we will now go to Senator Hovan and I do want to indicate because we have members that are joining us virtually as well as in person. If you step away, virtually make sure that we know you're back. We don't We don't want it. Have you lose the ability to be able to ask? Ask your questions, and so and so we wanna make sure we know who's with us. So Senator hoping Thank you, Madame Chairman and greeting Secretary Vilsack. I appreciate the opportunity. We've had to work together as governors and during your first stint as secretary of agriculture, and I look forward to working with you in the future as Secretary of agriculture on behalf of our great farmers and ranchers, the best in the world. Recently, USDA froze more than two billion of the Sith kept funding are you committed to continue to get that funding out and then following the directives in the legislation that Congress included.

"I'm read off. Thanks for listening. By. A. Now, a final word from our sponsor spot. What does a happy successful customer look like if we could do nothing but look at the numbers, how would we able to tell a delighted customer versus a non delayed customer? We're back one more time with Dharma Shah of hub spot. A crm platform scaling companies durhush has been telling us about the value of delighted customers. How can you spot a non delighted customer? Sometimes, you can just do a survey and ask them but the other thing you can look at us, you know what? If they bought the product and they logged in the following week and then we didn't see them again for six seven weeks. Chances are they're not delighted customer something broke along the way. When it comes to predicting customer satisfaction data speaks louder than words just make sure that you're listening for the right things. In the early days you throw all the possible data you have at it. But in most organizations, you will find that only a handful of factors actually impact customer retention rates. So the trick is making sure you actually measuring the things that the models are sensitive to, and then you will find the things that actually tend to be the most predictive. Once you've found what's most predictive, you can get proactive. If you knew which customers were unhappy, you would say, Hey. You Know Miss Smith You don't know this, but you're unhappy with hub spot and we think you might be unhappy because you got stuck at this particular point in the process and we have an expert here that will help you get over that. I want to talk about how to overcome the enemy when the devil seems to be stalking you talk to each and every day it seems like when you go to bed he follows you you can't sleep at night tossing and turning all night long wrestling with your thoughts trying to discover how you're going to overcome this nightmare in your life. This situation is driving you as my aunt would say badi you get up in the morning sitting on the side of the bed and it appears like the devil is sitting right there next to you telling you you are a loser you are too fat. You are not smart enough. You're not good enough you finally muster up enough strength and courage to get up off the bed. You make your way to the bathroom mirror as you stand not getting ready to brush your teeth. You look in the mirror and the devil begins to tell you you're not pretty enough. You're getting old. Nobody likes you anymore. No one wants you anymore. You are a loser. You continue to stand there looking at yourself analyzing what he has said to you you begin to feel sorry for yourself having a pity party in a depression starts to set in you throw your toothbrush down on the sink and drag yourself back to bed you lie there thinking to yourself how bad off you are the Devil comes back once more and begins to tell you. It's no need to go work today. You have to put up with that mean boss of yours. The attitude is co-worker. You can't cope today off. You a discombobulated discouraged disillusioned and disgusted you reach for the phone down the number to your office Lounge? Hello, Miss Smith. I'm not feeling well today. I won't be into work. You continue to lie there in the bed all day long spiritually paralyzed. The devil is holding you hostage. You try to pick up your Bible. The devil says, what's the use that's not going to help you lay there and you lay the Bible back down and turned back over a few minutes later you get up and you position yourself to pray the devil says while you praying to God. Doesn't have time for that you would just wasting your time you crawl back into the bed and you lie there some money or in your desperate state of mind not realizing that the devil is holding you hostage. How do you deal with this? Enemy? He is a no-good Rascal. He's a liar and the truth is not in him. How do you overcome your problems and circumstances and situations and the Bible teaches us that we fight not against flesh and blood but principalities spiritual wickedness in high places in other words. You are fighting dog. Against the devil and all of his demons his imps. And even those human beings that he uses the First Choice thing you gotta understand in overcoming the enemy is it's all in the name the way to overcome the devil and his imps is in the name of Jesus. If you want to break the Devil's Hole on your life and experience the peace and presence of God in the midst of your struggles. It can only happen in Jesus's name when you think about it name implies authority Jesus name. He is a saira team watch this Philippians chapter 2 verse 9. "Happen. You can win those cases. The switch gears bad just a little bit. Talk about insurance coverage. A trial This is another way. Ah, commonly, insurance companies trying to beat defeats your claim. What does that mean? You know that you cannot mention the word insurance in Colorado during trial. There are some exceptions, but generally you can't say that that person over there sitting on the other side of the room in the courtroom was insured and their search companies X rays. You can't say those things. So the jurors always want to know. Was your insurance in this In this case, they ask questions. George get to ask questions. Now. They always ask those questions. And you can't the judges, so I'm not going to let the question be answered because it's inadmissible. So what the insurance company wants you to believe. Let's say we're we've They forced you to filing a lawsuit. They wouldn't pay you. You filed a lawsuit and they want the jury to think the you are suing. This elderly person lists 83 years old. Because she didn't lost revision. She had a medical condition and you're trying to get money out of this person. And they won't tell you about insurance. Let's talk about that. Well, there you go. Is that a question? You ask why Do the insurance companies want to hide behind the insured? First of all, if we just take normal practices, we understand. Don't we understand that you're not supposed to be on the road unless you're insured. So why do insurance companies want to make sure that their names not brought up at the at the time of trial? Why do they want to make sure that the fact of insurance isn't even told anybody when we if we're if we're his jurors, understanding what goes on for drivers? We understand that that person shouldn't have been behind the wheel. They don't have insurance. So you know where you're going? Okay. So now the insurance company says, we don't want you to know that there's insurance involved. We want you to think this money's coming out of the pockets of the defendant who sitting there of the poor person who caused the crash who was maybe texting or was maybe a distracted driver or did something wrong? But we want you to think they're paying the money. Or we certainly don't want you knowing how much money is available to them to pay the money because we're saying when we want you to believe that this is coming from a source where you're going to substantially. Cause problems to the Person who caused the crash. Now you got sick of poor Miss Smith over there who is with who they make sure shows up with her kids or the kids were going to come in at some point, so everybody can see she has kids and they can see and the husband comes in. Because they see what a nice married family they are. You certainly don't want to take money away from her. Well, you know what if she was out driving without insurance? Is she had no insurance. Then there's a strong chance that she's not going to be in that defense seat. She's going towards something else. She's going to get something done, or there's going to be other ways to try to deal with it. Unless, of course, she has such a huge amount of assets. That it doesn't matter if she has insurance right, and that's kind of what they play on. But you need to understand that you've gotta beat this whole thing and let's go back to what we talked about a few shows ago. I mean, it was a few weeks ago. But, you know, let's say your medical bills or $20,000 the insurance company offers you $6000. Take it or leave it. They almost force you to file a lawsuit. Have Brad. I told you people to come in our law firm at Belem Pollack and say, I want to shoot somebody They don't want to get involved in a lawsuit. They don't want to get sued. They don't want to sue anybody. They want to get paid legitimate compensation for their injuries. And I promise you, the person that rear ended. Our client doesn't want to get sued. Or T boned our client. They don't want to get your nobody wants litigation. But when they won't honor the claim and won't even pay the amount of medical bills and what happens, forces you to file a lawsuit. Then what happens? You get to try alone. That's what lawsuits are about to get to trial. And you can't mention the word insurance. I can't tell you much, Brad. I want to stand up and tell you that this person over here this lady Very nice lady. Nice family. There's a huge insurance company behind her. There's an insurance policy behind her, but we can't say those things. In trial. We can't mention the word insurance. So one way they do it as they try to force the situation where they'd make you file a lawsuit. Blame you for fine lawsuit call you greedy. Call. Your attorney is greedy. And say everything, and that's why that's a right reason here. Everybody's greedy, but they won't and I don't tell you about insurance. You call us right now. The in order to fight stress and to suppress what we do is actually suppressed our emotions in an you know, meet our personal needs and the needs of everybody else, so it's just kind of like a bulldozer. Kinda thing almost you know where we just keep going. Just keep going. Just keep swimming you now, just yesterday and The problem with that is it. It provides us an ability ability to endure and overcome. What seems to be unsurmountable obstacles which we absolutely are able to do. The problem is and then what we accomplish those. It confirms that we have those super black woman traits. Because, we actually do accomplish things that. Do, seem unsurmountable and are very challenging. So then we go, okay, yes, I am this superwoman, but the problem with that is that the research shows that there detrimental effects to our mental health and physical health as a result of that now there used to be. A commercial you know I can. I can bring home. The BACON FRY it up in the Pan and never let you forget you a man, and I can do everything. I can have everything, and you can, but not necessarily at one time. and. That's and that's okay and we have to be okay with that. The problem is we also. We've heard where where It's been said that you know we as. Brown women, we nurture our sons, and we raise our daughters, and so you know it's come on. Just keep giving you all you all right baby, you all right. Just come on, come on. Come on, or even things that we've encountered. You know we'll don't don't don't talk about it. Just keep just keep going. And again it allows us to. Be Able to cope and to deal in the immediate. Timeframe the problem is over time, it is detrimental to us. So we can be all things to all men that we might by all means save some as says, but the truth of the matter is. We can't be all things to all men at one time. Everything to you and everything to you and everything to you, because then I'm left with nothing. Okay Miss Smith so if I'M A student second year student, third year, student and I'm at the university, and I'm also navigating the superwoman right in my family back at home on May be a first generation college student, and I'm navigating all of that. Well okay, so one of the things that we have to do is prioritize. What we're going to, and you know this time that we've experienced with this Kobe nineteen, which I would want that for for anybody but at the same time. What it has done is afforded us an opportunity to pause.

I want to serve people well but I don't want to get into a point where that goes beyond the serving and goes into people pleasing. Yeah that's really hard and it's extremely hard and especially the unfortunate part of that as you have to have sometimes years or a lot of experiences. Were you've allowed those boundaries.

"Results on pet life radio. I'm your host UD Anderson today, I'm going to be exploring the mysteries of dog dome. Yes. These myths that are still lurking around every corner that people choose to believe and pass on to their friends. But they're not true today. You're going to be getting the scoop on the real deal. I want to thank my folks on my Facebook page for contributing. I put the question out there. What are some of the common dog miss that are still lurking out there that drive you crazy and people were fantastic. They gave me some great suggestions. I'll be sharing some of them with you today. Suzanne offered a really good one. She was talking about tail wagging dogs. She writes tail wagging is not always a happy thing. People never get that. And she's so right? I do bite prevention programs for children and adults for that matter and one of the things I cover is that just because a dog is wagging his tail does not mean that he's friendly. I remember hearing that when I was a little girl. Oh, if you exist Haley's friendly, well, it's not true. A dog could be wagging his tail furiously while he's taking a chunk out of your leg. Tail wagging is a sign of excitement and arousal dogs. It is not necessarily a sign of friendliness. So let's write that one off right off the bat. Just because the dog is wagging his tail does not mean that he's friendly doesn't mean that the dog is happy to see you. So don't go pet that dog unless you've got some more information speaking appending dogs. Here's a common one to that. All dogs like to be petted on their heads. Nope. Not true. At all. When you Pat a dog on a head. It's a very assertive gesture in canine language, think of it as you go into a party and a very forward guy comes right up in your personal space, and he's talking right nose to nose to you. And he's like grabbing you by the soldiers and saying Hello or giving you a big hug, this might make you feel really uncomfortable. If you've never met this guy before well. When you put it on the head. It's kind of a forward gesture and while some dogs could care less. You can thank them on the head all day, and they love it. A lot of dogs are offended. It's like you grabbing them and hugging them without introducing yourself. I they just don't like it. You see these dogs often duck or they'll try to skip the hand. It's because they don't like being petted on the head. So really depends on the dog. But a lot of dogs do find that to be an offensive gesture another really good one that came in on Facebook page was from sandy and she wrote dog should work it out for themselves. I still hear this all the time even as given is a vice from other trainers, and it frightens me because if you allow dogs to work it out, and by that we mean dogs are having conflict, maybe a new dog coming into the home or you're introducing a combined family for the first time and the dogs are having a bit of a spat if you allow them to work it out for themselves. It's a really excellent way for one of them or both. Them or more to end up in the veterinary emergency room dogs. Don't always make good choices. It's up to the humans to make choices. It's up to the humans to set boundaries. It's up to the humans to teach dogs what we want of them. And what we expect of them. We can't expect them to sit down at the parlay table, and negotiate treaties to doesn't work that way. Some dogs are really good at it. Don't get me wrong. Some dogs are really good at making new friends and working things out and sharing other dogs. Not so much. They don't like to share. They don't wanna share. They have no interest in sharing. They have no interesting being with another dog. They may not like another dog and sometimes this can lead to bloodshed. I worked with aggression cases. And I've been called in on cases where one or more of the animals has ended up in the veterinary emergency room, we've got stitches and we've got the cones of shame and we've got distraught. People because the dogs were allowed to work it out for themselves. So. Please don't ever let that happen. If you are having conflicts with your dogs. It is much better to get an early start on that get a jump on it now hire a qualified reward based professional to come help. You don't muck it up by playing around with it on your own. If you don't know what you're doing. And don't wait. A lot of times when I'm called in its after there's bloodshed I want to be called in when the dogs are first growling at each other or their first giving each other the stink guy from across the room. That's when you call in the professional don't wait because it won't go away on its own. And that's another myth. It's kind of related to that is aggression and fear and also just go away the Dolgellau grow them. He'll just overcome it somehow. No, it doesn't work that way at all. And those are the sad cases that I have to take a dog started out with some initial signs of aggression that the people were able to recognize, but they thought the dog would get over it. They thought the dog would outgrow it or whatever this myth is that is pervasive and the dog increasingly gets worse. Always know when it comes to a health problem with your dog or a behavior problem with your dog, the earlier, you get someone in there to help you the much better chance of a good outcome for that. So don't dogs. Out for themselves, and aggression doesn't go away on its own. It gets worse, especially if you're accident contributing to it that could make it much worse. So a canine professional who knows what they're doing can absolutely help. You a lot of aggression is based in fear and another really good suggestion came in from Natalie and she said dog and distress show him. It isn't scary by pushing them past their comfort level and refusing to let them leave until they like it. This happens all the time perhaps a dog is afraid of children. So somebody invites a bunch of children over and then forcibly puts the dog in one of the child's laps or let's tell pick the dog up and towed it around thinking that the dog will get over it. The dog will be fine. Once it gets used to these wonderful children will the children could be absolutely precious. Loving caring nurturing children, but they're not going to be the ones to help a dog get over it sphere. You have to help that dog with a set protocol of desensitization encounter conditioning. And there's. Former ways to do this people just don't get over their fear. Trust me, trust me, and spiders, I'll go after them. If I have to if I am not defended because my dog dogs that I have now are useless and help defending me against biters. But I'm still scared of him. I know it makes no sense. But fear makes no sense fear is not logical. And so when you force a dog to confront his fear. This can backfire on you in a lot of different ways. You've heard me talk about socialization, if you're one of my frequent listeners, you know, that I'm not a big fan of flooding or you force a dog to confront his fear. It can backfire in that the dog is now even more afraid than before. And also the dog doesn't trust you anymore. The dog trusted you to take care of him. And you forcibly released him to the monsters. So I see this time and time again people think the dog's not socialized. It's not really good with people. So let's take it to a downtown festival. No. That is the worst thing you can do because the dog is going to be over threshold by that we mean. The dog is going to be completely drowning in the things that make it frightened. If you're scared of snakes, do you want to be locked in a room? That's full of snakes. No, that's not making you. Happy doesn't make our dog's happy either. If the dog is afraid of the vacuum cleaner do tie into the vacuum cleaner. No, he's going to freak out. That's not good. So never force a dog to confront his fear. Thank you Natalie for that great suggestion. I'm gonna move from fear to alleged guilt. Now, crystal gave me a wonderful suggestion. She wrote my dog knows when he's done something wrong while I've been gone all day. He looks guilty. I can see why people fall for this because adult does look guilty. Sometimes right. You come home and the trash can is up ended in the kitchen, and there's a mess all over the kitchen last night's remains of pork chop dinner are all gone and your dog has his ears down. And he's a voiding your icon tact. Maybe his tail is tuck. He's whining a little bit or backing away from you. He looks guilty. So I totally get it. But that's actually been proven to be false. That is a myth most dogs who react that way are reacting to your reaction. Now, remember, they watch us a lot better than we watch them. They're very in tune. So you walk into the kitchen, and you see this mess, you've got chemicals flooding through your body. You're getting angry gut stress hormones all three you and your dog is reacting to that some people say, well, I never even made it to the kitchen Chiotti, he looked guilty. When I got to the door. I knew something was up. Well, maybe in the past your dog has done something. And when you came home, he associated with your reaction just because the dog is acting fearful doesn't mean that he's guilty. He's probably predicting what you're going to react like he's not necessarily associating it with the pork chop that he stole out of the trash can or the couch that he ate or whatever he destroyed or if he partied in the house when he shouldn't have they're just not. Wired that way, they're just not. So please don't make the mistake. If thinking that your dog knows what he did something wrong people. Do this all the time. They'll attribute stubbornness. And you've heard me talk about this before to my dogs. Being stubborn well dogs. Aren't stubborn dogs are not capable of masterminding ways to take over your life. They live for the moment. They eat sticks. They roll in stinky, things do you really think that these are masterminds of the whole world not thinking? So I love dogs. I make my living with dogs. I can't imagine sharing my life without dogs, but Maquiavelian dictator wannabes. Yeah. Not going to happen. They're not capable of it cats. Maybe dogs. No, no. They live for right now. Absolutely. In the moment right now. And dogs are not stubborn. There are lots of reasons. Why dogs don't do what you want them to do one? Is you have unrealistic expectations to you haven't trained them in terms that they can understand three? There's environmental interference four. There's fear going on the dog is afraid so he's not going to comply because he's actually afraid he's incapable of complying with you or five. There's a physical problem. I got hundreds of those stories I may debate vote an entire show to stories where people attributed behavior two dogs. It was really physically based that would be a good show. But quick example would be a dog that won't eat. And before thinking the dog might be sick people thought. Well, he's just not eating because he doesn't like this food. Even though this food is healthy for him. He's being picky. And he wants me to give me table scraps. They come up with all sorts of things and in actuality, the dog has a raging ulcer, and he doesn't eat because he doesn't feel. Good. I got lots of their stories. So please don't assume a dog a stubborn don't ever assume that because it's not true. And don't assume that he knows when he does something wrong. We love to attribute these human foils two dogs. People will tell me, well, I was working late. I was on a big project, and I was away from home a long time and my dog got spiteful, and he went peed on my bed. Your dog was not spiteful your bed, smells, the most. Like you and win dogs routine is upended. He gets stressed dogs. Love routines. That's why daylight savings time messes them up because you didn't feed them on time. Right. That's when they start staring at you and our earlier or they're delighted when you feed the what they perceived to be an hour earlier, depending on which way, we're falling back or springing head on the daylight savings time's for those of us who do have to do that. I envy you Arizona that doesn't. But people assume that the dogs being spiteful will your bed has a ton of your sent in it you sleep there. It's very concentrated. If your dog is. Dressed. He's going to go to a place where he feels comforted which is your bed when dogs are stressed. They can eliminate they p it's a stress response. Not a spike response. Miss Smith myth remove them from your vocabulary. They're not being spiteful. They're definitely not being stubborn. Here's another fun. One a dog's mouth is cleaner than humans. Oh, heck, no, no. While there are lots of germs and a dog's mouth that are very dog specific. And they may not hurt. You have you seen what they lick..
