Lisa, did you play violin as a kid or something? I had one day career. It was in first grade. They handed out the violins. I thought the strings hurt my fingers, and I quit. That was the end. Yeah. The real reason I'm here is because of a story I heard back in January. It's this crazy crime story that happened in Milwaukee. More breaking news, Milwaukee did sounds like it's right out of a movie a rare strategy the victim was the top violinist in the Milwaukee symphony orchestra. His name's Frank almond. So he's walking to the car after a concert. And this guy jumps out and shoots him with a taser. He falls to the ground, he yells, they got the violin, and the thief drives away. And it was of course a press conference afterwards, where even the police chief seemed a little flummoxed by the whole thing. It appears at this time that the violin was in fact the primary target of this robbery. It's important to note that this violin is very valuable, but very valuable to a very small population. Turns out it is hard to unload a stradivarius without getting noticed. It also turns out you can track a taser gun from the bits of confetti that shoot out when it fires. The taser led police to suspects and then to the violin in an attic in Milwaukee, safe and sound. I read the court documents. They're kind of amazing. There was actually a confidential informant who helped him crack the case. And he said the guy accused of stealing the stradivarius wasn't just looking for any old expensive thing to steal. He wanted a strat of various. He called it his dream theft. That is how strong the strad brand is, even thieves dream of them. Part of a brand is having a good story to tell. And there are really good stories to tell about Strata various is. Actually, I think the plural is stradivari. And these are stories that you can't make up. And a surprising amount of them seem to involve nefarious behavior. Take, for instance, the story of the stradivarius currently played by Josh bell. Josh bell, if you've heard of any violinists, you've probably heard of him. Josh is very, very he's very good. I went to talk to him at his apartment here in New York. He was practicing on the stradivarius when I got off the elevator. Hey. Josh's strad, insiders called these violent strads for short. His strat is also very famous. It used to belong to a man named branislav hubermann. In 1936, huberman was playing uptown at Carnegie Hall. He was playing a concert he had the luxury of having two violins in his case. He had a double case with a stradivarius and a coronary, the two great names. The top and the greatest violence were made by these two. And he played the second half of the concert on the gournay. So he left the strad in his dressing room. Notice straight owners. Don't leave your violin in a dressing room. After the concert, in fact, I think while they were there were still clapping for his final final piece, his assistant ran on stage and said, your strat is gone. Stolen. And it was stolen not by some guy trying to make money. It was stolen by another violin player, named Julian Altman. What adult men do with it? He just played on it and he played gigs, gigs around cafes and orchestras, things like that. I think he stole it because he wanted to stride and wanted to play on it. And this was the only way he was going to get one was just steal it. Altman covered the violin in shoe polish so that no one would know. And he kept its identity a secret for 50 years. He confessed finally on his deathbed. That instrument now, it's the one Josh bell is holding in his hands. The price, $3 million. Stories like these are part of what makes a strad so valuable. There are these rare historic objects. They've got these complicated dramatic backstories. And there aren't many of them left. There might be hundreds of violins and only ten violas. But part of the value is also something else. These are truly great musical instruments. After all, that is why Altman stole that one. It sounded amazing. That violin is perhaps one of the finest violins ever made. That was clear to Josh bell the first time he played it. He'd gone into a shop to buy some violin strings, and there it was. The guy said, you want to try it? And I said, sure, you know, and I played ten seconds, I said, I started shaking. I said, this is my instrument. And was that kind of magic chemistry people talk about with meaning their future wife. In this case, it was my future violin. This is like in Harry Potter when they find the right wand for them. Something was up there, something like that. It's a chemistry. It's a chemistry that I think of a sound.

"Why, from the Annex Wealth Management Studios, This is Wisconsin's morning news. Here's your host, Jean Miller. Back in the saddle again. Good to see the crew. Last time we were all together. It was not here. It was at the golf course for the WTMJ Classic a week ago today doesn't feel like a year ago does that was that was a lot of fun. Good time, thanks to everybody who came out, participated all of our fans and partners and all of our teammates that were there too good chance to see everybody all at once, but no more living in the past. We look ahead to what's going on today. Janu did a road trip and we're going to hear the results of that road trip. You went up to Fox Valley, right, Nina? Neenah, Wisconsin Construction Company there, called Myron's Construction company has been holding an event called Built like a girl. For the last several years. They have, um girls who are going into high school on their on their job site and give them an opportunity to work with some tools. And drive a crane. Did you get to drive a crane? I did. Did you wreck anything? No. Because they had someone watching me. I didn't see anything online or in the papers all his gun and Milwaukee. Woman cousins green. They say Yeah, I know that that's again. Wait, Will you that will be coming up at 5 51 this morning. We're checking with Craig Gilbert as well. A new market University law school poll, just reinforcing what we know about politics in Wisconsin and most of the news. Is that good? He'll be live at 7 21 on the sporting front. The Reds and the Brewers renew hostilities still a big league for the crew, but no lead is big enough at this point in the season. Yeah, for sure. 7.5 games is what the Brewers carry into this three game series against the Reds, and it's It's exciting because they can maintain that lead and potentially stretch it out. It's also scary because if you have a bad series, all of a sudden it's down to 4.5 with a month to go, right, So it's another gigantic series an opportunity for the Brewers to Push ahead towards the postseason. Yeah, we get to that point now where I'm almost every game is going to feel like a playoff game. For the most part, the Brewers have a very tough stretch. They play a lot of contending team. I mean, you could be 25 games out, and that's certainly a worse position to be in a position we've been in in Milwaukee far too many times before, so I will take this 11 times out of 10 5 13 sports is next. "Just as you said before, provides such beauty and grace and grow for the benefit of the entire community. So where we stood at that point in time back with five organizations today, we have 14 member organizations and we have another 14 affiliate organizations as well that we fund on an annual basis. So I find it interesting. All these. These groups that are involved with you path you have something called the Cornerstone group. Who does that all include. So our Khorasan group's reflect really the finest in the performing arts spectrum in our community, So we have groups like the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Milwaukee. Rep. First stage Children's Theater, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. Skylight, Opera theater and, of course, Florentine Opera. Those organizations are the backbone and offers the greatest breadth and depth of performing arts Center community. Mm yeah, it's quite a list there. Um you paff obviously plays a critical role in sustaining our local performing arts organizations. What's your opinion on why it's so important to have a vibrant performing arts in in our local community? Well, The important thing is that helps people come together and gather. We used the performing arts as a time to really celebrate those important moments and also find and express the values that make us very human. We don't have those outlets usually and to do that, with others who share that love and connect that in so many ways, it's so very valuable and important, and the performing arts go beyond what you see on stage. They also have such community outreach and also what we do in the school's over two thirds of the Milwaukee public schools have some level of arts activity because of the members of United Performing Arts Fund. And this is a time when those performance of those activities in those schools just simply don't exist. So the fact that this is an outreach is an opportunity for more kids to see their own potential, just like I have that opportunity many years ago. It's a great value that we have. MM Well, let's let's kind of camp on that impact idea for a little bit. How does you path bring greater impact to the community? You talked about the schools and certainly all the different groups that you're involved in. But talk to us about the greater impact in the in the community And maybe some community impact programs you have. Well, thank you, Jill. First every gift that we receive, and we're very proud of that Four Star Charity Navigator rating that you mentioned before we're able to invest in those unrestricted funds that are so important to the lifeblood of every one of our member organizations. That helps them say we can go beyond the stage. And with that we have additional programs that are restrictive to do even more and to connect more people, especially those That are in marginalized communities and otherwise disadvantaged and don't have the same opportunities as many others do so those three programs that are the sort of the pillar programs the United Performing Arts Fund include You, Path Connect. Which is a association that we have of 25 different nonprofits that serve those populations. I was just talking about that are in some of our, um more challenge parts of our community and again where access is so near and dear, that their yearning for But they just can't. They find barriers that had that They can't connection breakthrough, So we're able to break through and serve those places like ST Anne's Neighborhood house, other places like next Door Foundation Penfield Children's Center. These are all great areas that they're serving such good our community, and we bring a little more life and vitality to by connecting them through the arts. We also have a great program called Bright Minds, which it takes all of the wonderful work that we do from performing arts setting. And continues to grow the outreach and the quality of what we have for youth education. So in many cases, youth education started with just the basics, trying to understand what music might be or what acting skills might be. It's moved to be much more than that. It's participatory, and it helps everyone of our Children in our community who have advantage and are able to access these programs express themselves fully and do it throughout the entire year, and it really helps them lift up their imagination and their insight and their self esteem. Last minute least we have a program called Cases Fund, and Casey's fund was started in this past year. It was really meant to say we can lift up those that face different disabilities, and they just don't have that same typical experience. And many others do so to have an opportunity when you might be, um, facing the autistic spectrum and saying, How can I feel welcomed into a space like the perform merits? Knowing that I'm not going to be judged or question and to celebrate that with my family members is so very important. So we've been able to do that and to extend this experience now to so many others, and it's that what we love about cases fun. It's a complete spectrum of opportunities. It's not only for you serving activities, but also older adults who we're finding more and more are just don't have the vitality that they once did in connection or the ability. To reach out and go to those performances they once loved. So now these performances are built around them and coming to them, and we've interviewed a couple different organizations, nonprofit organizations that touch that population. And so it's It's exciting to know how everybody is connected in some way, right? We are all human, and we all need that connection because again the arts bring out something in each of us. That just gives us that moment. That reflection that really that almost that recall of maybe a very special time so absolutely want to have as much as possible. Well, you had quite an impact you path has what's in the future for you path. We're going to take a quick break and talk about that when we return. Stay tuned as we move forward, adjusting our lives around new routines. New normals. How can we each become a catalyst for the positive change? We want to see in this world. Hi. I'm Karen Ellen Becker, founder and senior wealth advisor for the Ellen Becker Investment group. Please join me for my Ted X talk the power of positive disruption when.

"Else that he get you. No. Anyway way were discussing. A national anthem. Two points about this. The second one is going to be this point in which I've suggested that there's an inconsistency with liberals. I wanted to get rid of the national anthem. The first If You simply had a decision made by some sports teams to not do it. Because they never put any effort into it. I don't know that it would be the greatest tragedy ever. I find People love the national anthem. What it's well, Dad. I remember for years, the Brewers had just brought a tape. It was the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. I just played a tape, and then they had. This is back in the old County stadium when they just had to be a stupid little thing of the dumb scoreboard that we have, like a ghetto, a computerized flag or something, and they just play the same tape. It was the same tape every game and I mean, I get that we're honoring our country, but they were putting so little effort it and that's almost have done it. If I went to a bucks game once they had fans back on, and they were just gonna play a recorded version of the anthem. You almost then wonder what's the point? But what's happened is almost every team has turned it into a fag. Where they'll get really, You know good educators, and they'll do it and they'll work so hard at it. Say it. The Bucks game they bring out of. Usually there's a color guard from a local police agency, Our military color guard that will come out and then they'll be a singer that have come out that well. Belt a thing out, it becomes actually part of the endgame entertainment. It's a cool thing. I mean, I still remember the first time in Do remember the first time LeMond e cigarettes sang the national anthem at a budget. I don't know how big she is now, but I mean She could be a jockey. This is she's the receding girl who Bucks brought out late in the sea, probably six years ago or so now. Um to sing the anthem, and she walks out into the middle of the question until even for six. She was tighty. She's like Come out of a test tubes. You just this tiny little thing, and she's six, but she looks like she's still with the giver. This microphone and She's got a voice that's like Leontyne Price and the Metropolitan Opera Belt in this thing out, it was just this unbelievable, And she's that in a trillion times ever since. My guess I don't know it should be no 12 or 13. She's probably still tidy. But there isn't anybody got excited when she came out to do the anthem because it was cool to see her do it. It was an entertaining thing. So if you're going to do it, it shouldn't just be this for road thing. All right now we're gonna do that answer because yesterday I have to stand for the anthem will turn it into something. Which a lot of sports teams that a lot of different leagues in venues. Having. The Brewers usually have some of the most. You bring somebody out to do it, and it becomes a nice little performance. Getting to my second point. Lefties need to think this thing through No, I get they've hated America forever and ever and ever, right? I don't want to pledge allegiance. I hate this country, its race. It's It's the set of the other thing, but They're kind of getting control of the whole country, aren't they? And what is it that they're doing with this power? They are using the government to do everything they've ever wanted to do. They're using the government to make people wear masks. They're using the government to shut down churches. They're using the government to shut down businesses. Using the government to shut down stage for using the government to actually put Trump on trial in the Senate, even though he's not the president. They're using the government to shut down a pipeline that use of the government to stop the fracking industry. Imagine how much they will have done in a year or two. So what we're going to be moving forward in this country is the government of the United States. The government and letting local communities and states is going to be doing everything. Lefties want to do the people who are going to be disliking the government is going to be made. And Paul and conservatives. Once the government becomes the tool by which the lefties get everything done. Will they still hate it? When you think about it. If you think we make a big deal of the national anthem here, which countries make the biggest deal of it The big Communist countries. The Dictatorships, the countries that start with revolution end up embracing the red. Remember when they play that big Soviet anthem and Brezhnev and all the other five Boop Boop! Boop! Boop! Good. What's the Chinese? And then when they're all standing there, staring straight ahead, boiled when fat face place the net, the North Korean national anthem. If you're not standing at attention, he's gonna have you killed. So what happens is once lefties get full control of things all these things that they hated initially. Science of patriotism. They become ultra patriotic because, after all, they've established the dictatorship in a charity that they are in favor of So they may want a dog on them that once this country becomes a country in which they get their way out everything and we're all marginalized that we don't have rights. Maybe they'll get around to liking the country. Why would they want to get rid of the end of another is one asterisk for that. I think When these revolutionaries get charge of a country, I think they changed the anthems. I get all the Sylvia tent. That was probably not the one that Desires were using before they came in. So maybe that's the thing that the lefties I got to do. I don't want to have many ideas. But I think that you could certainly see this happening. Buying issues. An executive order changing the anthem to some lefty little thing that's out there and then they'll be all fourth. Alo. What is the standard of what? People like me and Paul? They have to stand and listen to whatever screed to planet Earth, That is, is that they're gonna be crank it out out there. Which is precisely what's happened in so many of these other countries. Now, from the perspective of whether or not people should actually care. My side keeps rolling over and now I guess we have to put up with it. I guess we have to put up with it. I guess we have to put up with it. I guess we have to put up with it. I guess we have to put up with it. I guess we have to put up with it. The MBA is one of the most politically correct institutions that that that's out there. I believe What happened here is the other team owners got to the commissioner and said, Look. This is still a positive for us. Most of our fans love this patriotic thing. We don't need to be moving away from it. I don't think the MBA stands and telling the Mavericks that they have to keep playing. It had anything to do with love of country. I think that they still think it's good business to play it. And Cuban not wanting to play. It is just Cuban being Cuban. I think, however, that it won't be very long before it is generally phased out unless our anthem does become this anthem of the new, tyrannical left in which they re embraced the country, instead ordering all of us to be patriotic, patriotic to the new type of country that they are imposing on the rest of us. Rather than the country that was premised on freedom and individual liberty. We have so cherished up until now. The country that's being taken away from us.
