"They have the Fire and Police Commission chairman involved in an interview of a rape suspect. About an ethics investigation was called for, and we chose a top guy Mel Johnson. He's the former United States attorney for Eastern Wisconsin. Former federal prosecutor. He was hired to do an ethics investigation into Devil gases conduct in this situation. And Mel Johnson, who has no political acts, decried Former federal prosecutor came back and said The Vargas lied to him during the ethics investigation lighted misrepresented what he said His role was during that interrogation. So you have an ethics investigation that determined that the Fire and Police Commission chairman committed ethical violations and lied to the investigator. The Milwaukee Police Association. The union, which amazingly supports the police chief, is unturned up for a police union anywhere in America to support their chief, But that's how beloved Morales is. Everybody loves him. Other than Tom Barrett and a handful of hacks in the Fire and Police Commission and black lives matter. Have called for diva guys to be replaced as chairman of the Fire and Police Commission. Many people believe that he ought to be replaced people God's will not step down because he won't step down until he gets morale is fired. People. God's realizes that if he steps down, they might not have enough votes. The fire chief morale is he wants to be there to fire Morales. So how do you fire Morales? You get more Alice, A bunch of directives that know chief could ever come up with the police department yesterday responded by drawing attention to the uses of tear gas and pepper spray during the protest in Milwaukee that each of them was was he was doing a civil disturbance where if it had not been used, everything would have gotten out of control the other air. She's an orders that they came up with her slap together in no time whatsoever. They were never discussed at any type of public meeting, there was clearly a violation of the open records laws. Everything about this stags. It starts with who's pushing the strings to get rid of the police chief. It moves too. And I think unethical Fire and police Commission chairman Then you get to a bunch of directives that are ridiculous that weren't even legally put together in a proper fashion, and it ends with tonight, probably the firing of the police chief. But in the middle of all of this is the mayor who acts as if Miss. He's not the mayor of Milwaukee. Everybody involved here works for him. And if he wanted to end this, and he wanted to end this embarrassment and keep a police chief that everybody wants other than a handful of people led by a corrupt fire and police Commission chairman who was in there, interfering in an investigation of a ripe Or an alleged rape..

"T. M. J. Morales ain't did his job. He ain't work for the people. He's working for the police fire Chief brother That's what we want. He has a best chief Wei have had. I've been on the department 24 years those some of the voices outside Milwaukee City Hall Monday night, the clock ticking on Milwaukee Police chief Alfonso Morales, who has to update its bosses on the commission. About 11 directives. They handed down to him 11 issues They want answers on from the City's top cop by August 6. Joining US life to discuss is the president of the Milwaukee Police Association deal. Borman live on the first Midwest Bank Hartland. Thanks for joining US deal Chief Moran was attorney Franklyn Gimbel told the TMG right after that meeting Monday night that he feels the chief is being set up to fail by the commission and others at City Hall. What do you say? But why agree? Um, I've never seen a chief received so many directives. From the FTC. Regarding his position here and especially your Stephen 11 directives. That's quite a few. Too many, I think, but I think the chief will Has his work cut out for him deal. Another criticism is just the turnaround time on this August 6th is just a couple of weeks away. I agree. That's not enough time to get everything done in the time period of the one and I think that's where the set up is that they're going to end up firing him if he doesn't get it done. His department is going to have to do a lot of work to get that stuff done for the day. Deal. Borman is the president of Milwaukee Police Association Live on the first Midwest Bank hotline. So what do you think the odds are Dale that the chief meets this deadline Do you think he's going to make it is something that happened to him? I hope nothing happened Storm I would think that he would be able to get it done. I have confidence in the chief to get it done. And I, But like I said, it's going to take some work from by him and his department to get it done for the Dale. Is there another candidate? Do you think that has support from the Fire and Police Commission? I don't think so. Not that I know you know their names out there that I have been told that could essentially take this place. What? Nothing. Nothing's for sure at this moment, but You know, I'm a little worried and you know The chief is gonna have to get it done. And I think he will. Um some of the stuff is done already, but I think you'll get it all done. The rank and file obviously backing the chief your association. But there are segments of the community who want Alfonso Morel is gone. We have seven alderman on the common Council who say they don't morale is they don't want Morales to see And then we've got three other aldermen who say we conduce better? What do you What do you say to the chief's critics, especially when it comes to see the case of joy Lhasa, Vada, where the protesters were saying that there should be more transparency in the department. And that officer media we should be fired. Well for that. You know, the department started investigating it. In the FTC end up taking over the case, they told the department handoff. We're going to deal with it, so they're dealing with that if the citizens One. More information and want more transparency. They have gone to the F B C and get that from them. It's in the department's hands. At all. It's in the FTC hands and you know as faras the critics, I think You know? I would say every sees things differently. And I think that the aldermen and women that they need to take a step back and say, you know, the chief I'm doing the best that he can at this moment. Um And let him continue doing his job. Technically, he's only been on the job a short period of time, and we all know that things can't be changed in a short period of time. And and things like that, so I think they need the least Let the chief do his job. And comport him to allow him to do that job. Well, Borman is the president of the Milwaukee Police Association. Joining us live on W TMG and the first Midwest Bank Heartland. If I can pivot with you, sir, to another topic in Portland we've got Ah, It looks like federal officers on the ground, helping out with demonstrations in that community. There had been talk. Maybe that Milwaukee would be getting that sort of action here. We've got a Democratic National convention coming up. What would you see if the same thing that's going on in Portland in terms of the use of those? Those officers. What would you say if they were put on the ground here to work with Milwaukee police or maybe work on their own? Portland, the different story that they got their own issues out here right now. It appears so far are protesting here has been For the most part. Then good. There really hasn't been any destruction of property or anything like that. So I think at this moment, I think the approach That the federal police that you know the government wants to bring in I don't think we need it at this moment. I think they need to be put elswhere where you know, like Chicago in places like that, But I think great now. We don't need it yet. A song is everything stays peaceful Then I think you know our officers can handle I'm doing the job. "Our little daughter now was born in the hospital for about a week withdrawing from the drugs that she was addicted to the opiates. And so yeah, we've seen it firsthand. The only love birth mom and burst ad and lily's doing great. She's healthy. She's happy, and she doesn't seem to have any. Lingering issues, but you know, that story that we have our little miracle is a story that you see repeated across the state of Wisconsin a lot of kids who are impacted by this and for us. It's just a real privilege to be able to serve which was our heart at the end of the day and serve and love and care for work somebody and some families in our community will actually she's from Illinois jokey knows a foreign adoption, but but Gary loving people, which I think is part of our calling as human beings and certainly motivated by my own my own face and help join us to care for the poorest among us in the media. So yeah, it's a real privilege for us. And I certainly has shaped me when you think about this race and think about the drug crisis, that's hitting our state. What what about the drug crisis? Sitting are say, what are what are some things that that are on your mind, and in your capacity as a judge in your past capacity, as a judge what are some things that you think could be useful in combating. What's become a crisis that hit that can hit all economic classes that can hit all background smart. You know, college educated graduate educated or high school dropouts. I mean, this is something that doesn't seem to discriminate at all. Well, that's that's right. It's it's everywhere. I I was up in Marinette county. I was up in lacrosse Claire yesterday. You know, it doesn't matter where you go. You hear the same story that doesn't get enough. Play is the fact it's not just a an opioid crisis. It's also a mess crisis up north and out west. That's what they're really struggling with. I will say I'm proud to support a forty six sheriffs across the state of Wisconsin far more than my opponent, the Milwaukee police association is standing with me because they know how important public safety questions are in the work of the court. We decide cases we actually have a huge impact on public safety. We tell law enforcement in some respects where they're boundary lines are seen Justice Abraham. So the Justice where seeking replace Herbie much more ad hoc in in sort of outcome oriented and her decision making in the past. And they don't want to see the court go back to that part of. It's just an are deciding cases the other part of it is the court is also the administrative head of the. System. And and there's a variety of different initiatives out there like drug treatment courts intact Karan last year. Good good friend Maria Lazar here lock shot the number of others were supporting me in this race. But they help run drug treatment courts when you talk to them, they they see real real results from that. I think those things are good. How we spend our money how we work with the counties, you know, being a part of these global discussions with social service networks. Prosecutors public defenders imaging year. Gary to come up with these things, and this really is a bipartisan issue, there's some really good thoughts happening all around on these questions. And and I think we need to be a part of that conversation in partner with law enforcement also helped keep our community safe. I think a lot of people don't realize that you're actually the administrator the Wisconsin courts. He administrative the court system in Wisconsin, generally. And so, you know, some of the ways that you can enable drug courts and things like this and assisting in special types of prosecutors are or folks who are they they they call it a trauma based care a lot of that depends on whether or not you've got Wisconsin supreme court willing to work with law enforcement agencies and other court system to get that done as one of those sort of bookkeeping things we never talk about. But it's pretty important. Absolutely everything rises or falls in leadership, and that's an area where the court can lead and chat. Brian Hagedorn where can people find out more about? "A sad day for Milwaukee. But I'm confident this department is resilient, and we'll respond and continue to do the excellent job that they have over these many years. Welcome back to a special edition of WTMJ conversations. This is a difficult conversation. It's been a rough week in Milwaukee. Milwaukee police officer Matthew written, as you know, by now gunned down there's a new guy who heads up the Milwaukee police association that is the union that takes care of our men and women in blue that man is Sean Lada new to the job, but not new to tragedy. He's been working in the office for a long time. I spoke to Sean Lada about how difficult it is to move forward after the death of a police officer. How's the family doing? Well as expected the family is quite distraught. Understandably, I tell you the we're all experiencing their pain. I can tell you that John. Can you tell us anything about the family? Does he have a young family that he leaves behind? He he does have a beautiful family that I met today for the first time beautiful wife young. He was young. She appears to be young. If my understanding he does have a small child. And newly married as well. Hey, thank you very much. I I should have said this at the beginning for what you do Sean you represent the men and women who serve this community without fear without trepidation, and they step out there and do the right thing every day. They're allowed to do that in part because they know guys like you support them. So thank you very much for what you do at the marquee police association with thank you. For those words, John the other very important to me. Thank you so much sonnets, Melissa barklay. I want to ask you, I always worry about the family members, the officers that how good are left dealing with us and still have to work what kind of services are available to officers and family members of loved ones lost in the line of duty here. So obviously in addition to the marketplace association. I mean, every trustee every member every officer we look out for brothers and sisters, and we are here. Twenty four seven any officer can call anybody, especially their their members. And and ask for help it anytime. We'll meet them for coffee will give them resources. Whatever they need. We are here. Twenty four seven. That's what we do as their brothers and sisters would also do the same. But besides us. We also have our police chaplain. George Papa Kristo who is fantastic. He was at the hospital today. We have our police officer support team at the police department. There are many resources that we have we make sure that the family knows that they're there, and we keep in touch with the family to make sure that they have everything they need Sean Ladas, the president of the Milwaukee police association. Sean have been thinking about this all day. And I want to get your perspective. What the hell is going on in our city. I just don't understand this. There's so little regard for law enforcement for human life. I just I can't wrap my head around this. And you gotta deal with it every single day. Well, John, I mean, that's the difficult question. I don't have an answer to that. All I know is obviously we have an extremely dangerous job our brave men and women out. Here are doing this job every single day a selfless act of protection of this community. And I really hope that the community comes alive and shows their appreciation for the sacrifices that our officers make on their behalf. They do this every single day and Sean many of them that were in the procession. We're at the medical examiner's office. We're working all day today will now have to put this in the back of their mind. Be professional go out and do their job is dangerous job. Once again, this that can't be an easy thing to do. And they'll do it because they're professionals. But my goodness that can't be easy. Well, you're you're exactly right. John. I mean, we had hundreds of officers at the hospital Emmys office today, many of them off duty, but do have to work. I'll say. Four o'clock today. Many of them started, and they have to somehow get through the pain and all the emotions that they're feeling and go out an answer the call to duty. No matter what it is. And listen to other people's issues and take care of them, even though they can be hurting as well. But our officers are professionals as you said, and they will do it as I do it every single day. Are you more sad and angry or disappointed? I tell you. I'm probably equally sand as I am angry. I'm to be honest with you, John I'm serious that this happened. I'm sickened. And of course, I'm extremely sad. I've had from the entire gamut of emotions all day long. As so many officers have.

"Forty seven. Chiemsee? Thanks again to anti Schwartz. Second time she's been on the show this week and Greg young police chaplain in Germantown, it's kind of dealing with some of the thoughts and recovery practices that I think we all need to think about as we deal with the loss of Matthew written her on Wednesday killed in the line of duty and you side, so thanks to both of them for for joining in. As I said before it's a tough week for a lot of us. A lot of us are angry upsets irritated that. We're talking about this again, I think that's why I wanted to bring those two folks back to kind of share some of their wisdom. They both have been involved in a lot of these situations in different ways, one of the communication side. One on the the coping mechanisms that departments and communities need to deal with these things. So thanks to both of them for joining in our show poll today on Facebook and Twitter had to do with a question about this story. And I my question was do you believe that Wisconsin should reinstate the death penalty for individuals connected convey? Convicted of killing a police officer. And I understand that that's not going to happen. But I wanted to at least put that question out there to see what the response would be Jordan. What does the what are the numbers show? Thank you, Steve. So out of five hundred fifty votes on Facebook the yeses habit. Eighty seven percent to thirteen percents and on Twitter out of one hundred fifty votes. Seventy four percent said yes. While twenty six percent said no. And you can continue to vote and share your comments. I've read most of the comments on the poll, there's people that are angry upsets concerned about the community, which is always a natural reaction when you have something like this. Whether it's a shooting in this case or some other serious thing that happens in in big cities across this country. What's what's the next story going to be and we're all trying to figure it out media? Colluding radio and TV. Police departments community organizations just regular folks trying to live their lives. We're all trying to figure out what this is about. And why this happens, and and I think we're all part of that solution. So there was some great ideas, the one that any throughout their the the cops organization was W. I C O P S dot org.
