"Tony Everts his way did. It's come to this. Now, we don't even have Scott Walker weighing in on things. We're already going to the incoming governor this gradual acceptance of the fact that Tony Evers is going to be our governor comes with things like this democratic governor elect, Tony. Uber's condemn the photograph. The actions displayed in this photo have no place in Wisconsin is elected officials who have responsibility to lead, by example, for a generation growing up in a climate where they see this behavior condoned. I will be in contact with bearable officials, but we must all be clear, intolerance and bigotry must never be tolerated in our schools are ready where else now we have a comment from Mandela bards. The lunatic was becoming the incoming Lieutenant governor of the state of Wisconsin wish I was shocked, but the comfort they share in embracing supremacist culture is the most obscure obscene part this happens when the behavior is increasingly more excused promoted, it cannot be tolerated ignored or inconsequential. This will not be us. Now, he says this. But we now know that the guy who told the kids to pose this way was. Guy who was an official of the union. There are lessons in the story. But I don't even know where to start on them. Whether you're a kid or are not just understand that the whole world now is a stage in everybody's taking photos of things and photos that are taken longer photos that one person puts in a photo album. Once they are posted on the internet, the entire planet is going to be able to see them. And it doesn't even matter. How obscure the original sources, it's a social media posting from a guy who takes photos of motorcycles. But somebody founded and the next thing, you know, all of Baraboo. Is the subject of all of this controversy. Let me go to the W K O W posting. Peak gas. That's the guy who took the photos of the gestures in the photo are being taken out of context during the time of the photo. He said he was instructing the boys to wave goodbye. I had said to them. Okay, boys. You're going to say goodbye to your parents away of. So I put my hand up and said now, you're looking towards me wave and say goodbye gusts said the boys were in different stages of waving goodbye when the photo was snapped as far as he knows none of the boys intended to do a Nazi salute. He said people are wrong for interpreting is something inappropriate again that would be contradicted by the student that is quoted by USA today who said that he knew that the kids knew exactly what they were doing. Which is why that he didn't do it. From if you want to interpret it that way. Then I guess go ahead and interpret it that way for society to turn it around now and blame these kids is absolutely. Wrong statement from the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the Jewish Milwaukee federation. We are alarmed by the disturbing display of anti-semitism bag group of bearable high school students, though, the incident apparently took place now, they say last may also. Do we have anything to be able to? Neil. This town is to the Genesis of the photo wacky Jewish Federation said it occurred last bay. And as I said, everything that I read indicated that occurred in April or may of two thousand seventeen Paul said he brought a couple of stories now, which they they seem to say that that had happened this current here. Well, yeah, that's the other thing is confusing about it the guy who took the photo is the guy that posts that. He's apparently the only one who knows for sure what it was taken. Back to the statement from the Jewish Federation. We have witnessed murders agrees. Yes. Incidents targeting African Americans Latinos and other minority groups we appreciate the school district commented. Look forward to working with them to prevent any future is such incidents, as we know acts of hate begin with hateful expression such expressions must be a call to action for schools and families to educate youth to embrace diversity and to embrace difference to respect diversity and embrace difference. The values that will hold us together must be taught to reinforce lettuce. Lest we see the continued rise of hate and its consequences as I say, it's very unclear to me whether or not you can say that all of the kids were engaging in hate because it's really unclear as to whether or not all of them knew what they were doing. And if indeed according to the one student, Jordan blue that it was the photographer the told them to do this. And according to Jordan, everybody knew what the photo was you have very different versions of what the intent was when they sat it out. But again, none of that matters. Imagine tried to explain this. When you go into a job interview or you go into anything a year running for office. This or when people take this photo and blow it up and wonder whether or not you were part of it. Do you think they were waving? You think what you think they were doing the Nazi salute weren't you? Nobody waves like that. It's almost hard to like. In fact, the only time you ever see somebody pointing off like that is when they're doing a Nazi salute. Right. Paul said and others do seem to look uncomfortable. And that's why some kids have their hands standing off to the side. It's so odd. Imagine if you're one of the kids that's in the photo. But I, but I rent waving like that. Now, you got to explain 'cause you know, the story is going to be too. Ed, we saw what happened Abrek cabinet where he didn't even do what he was accused of for the people who make the accusations of having explained just because you were in this photo from bearable. Yeah. But I was in it. But I didn't and then grabbed the photo. And then try to find yours is look at me over here. My arms off to the side all because the photographer apparently put them up to it. "Five St. skiff eighty with you on this Tuesday. White T degrees at Radio City. It's chilly out there. You know, what we're hardy Midwesterners, we can take it. We will survive the cold. And it looks like there's gonna be warm up later this week and extended forecast. Hi forties thanksgiving week. So we can all relate to that. Thanks for listening as always busy show as always eleven o'clock hour. It's also my show Paul today. So lawmakers Madison are debating bailouts incentive package for Kimberly. Clark trying to keep those six or seven hundred jobs high paying jobs at those two plants in the FOX valley region of the state should the state government government picking winners and losers. That's my question. And should they approve an incentive package for Kimberly? Clark. You can find it at Twitter at WTMJ, Steve you can follow me there answer my show poll. We'll have that throughout the show today. And we'll give you the results at least up to about eleven thirty five this morning that's at eleven on seven Mazda going do a piece in the eleven o'clock hour on California ever talked about California in a few weeks. Interesting debate going on there as California headed to one. Party states. There's fewer and fewer Republican representatives in that state. I think it's down to about fourteen out of sixty so no Republicans in leadership positions in the state. Now, they would argue they being the folks in California. Well, that's what voters have decided. But is that good for anybody? Is it good for anyone party dominates? The political control environment in the states, we've seen in Wisconsin Republicans held the governor's seat until Tuesday's election, or at least until Tony Iverson sworn in Republicans control, the majority in the Senate and the assembly is that good government. Does it lead to better policy? Lots of debate back and forth. And that will we'll dig into that. One about eleven thirty five course, the ten o'clock hour the four at ten today. Sad news, California, wildfires getting more dangerous more deadly forty four. Now, the death toll could go much higher hundreds of people missing some of those areas paradise. Sixty seven hundred sixty eight hundred homes and businesses destroy completely wiped out on top of a hill. As a result of the three major wildfires that are going on in California. Tragic news also spent some time talking about the stock market plummeted yesterday against been a rough year for traders and investors, and as we kind of go through all the news of the day. There seems to be a link between the political news that's going on in the country and some of the things going out with trade and what the market's doing that that volatility. So we'll we'll touch on that in the four at ten also a friend of the show state Representative and the majority leader for the assembly Jim staticky will join us at ten thirty five. Lots of talk about their mentioned, the Kimberly Kimberly Clark discussion, also he was reappointed as majority leader. What does the next few years look like in the legislature as they prepare for a government led by a democrat with the assembly and the Senate led by Republicans with pretty significant majorities, and I can imagine that we're going to hear a lot about gerrymandering in the next few years. We may depend on that conversation as well. Nine o'clock hour. Is she back she being Hillary Clinton? I asked some of my democratic friends yesterday about this is that a good thing. That apparently according to one or two of her aides, she's considering mulling over. Another bid for president. Into credits. They all said, absolutely not. And there's nothing in the DNA of Hillary Clinton. It's going to give up I can tell you that. But is that a good thing for Democrats as they try to figure out who's gonna run against President Donald Trump in two twenty twenty president has as of course, indicated he's all in will she run should she run? We'll spend some time in the nine o'clock hour talking about that. And also a split government was in Wisconsin in Washington. What's that gonna feel like for the next few years both in in here in Madison in the state of Wisconsin? And in Washington DC, what will that look like what will that feel like will lead to better government? Voters made that decision on Tuesday. In the national elections midterm elections. And of course, here in Wisconsin with these selection of Tony Mandela Barnes to lead the state for the next four years, but I start with this story as I told Jean and Jane, I was watching the NBC nightly news last night at home. And it's never a good thing. When your high school local high school Baraboo highschool pops up picture of male students attending the prom last year. Last may I should say this year. During the Nazi salute. And that makes the opening. Of the NBC nightly news. So I wanna talk about that from a lot of different perspectives. I'm going to be joined we're going to be joined by Alana con from the Milwaukee Jewish Federation in about five minutes. I wanna ask her. There's so much conversation about hates and violence in this country. And of course, the mass shootings that we talk about far too frequently on this program. And programs across this nation of ours in frankly, interested international story as well. Because we we are quickly becoming a laughing stock for a country that prides itself on freedoms and rights. We can't get a handle on what's plaguing our country. And it is a plague gun violence is a plague in this country. We can all celebrate the freedoms of the second amendment in the first amendment. But the fact that nearly every week. We're talking about a mass shooting in some new environment two weeks ago on a Saturday was at a synagogue. We've had them at concerts in Las Vegas and high schools. An elementary schools. Churches and every other place you could possibly think of. And that continues to be a storyline. So there's an element of the Baraboo story in all of those stories as well. And I think it comes to a lack of understanding of what fuels hate in this country. And the reason I wanted to bring a lot on is because she's she's an expert at kind of dissecting that storyline and looking at what ails us, and what's driving this increase, and it is an increase. In the rhetoric of hates, the the impetus to drive some people to go so far as to just want to act out in a very violent way and plays out in mass shootings far too frequently in this country. So in a few minutes a lot of confident walking Jewish Federation will join us. We'll talk about Baraboo, and what that means in the context of violence in our country. That's all coming up next right here in WTMJ..
