"Never forget the first pictures from from when the nets made the cagey. Paul pierce trade inside jason. Terry i i was an exciting time. Yeah that obama. It's weird my first memories of brook lopez. I'm like like sitting in highschool watching. Nba game time and talking about how books like the best scoring big man in the league. Did he was like i. I kind of want. I want to prod gualberto into making a video if he hasn't made it. But you already of brooks old post footwork. Like i still think he's probably other than joel and yokich. I think he's probably the best post score in the league still like we don't see it as much anymore. Obviously blake when he was in brooklyn. I mean he was ridiculously good as opposed score like he has such good touch. We're saying right now you think is yeah. I think he's out there. I would push back and say tunis's about him. Okay yes karl. Anthony towns probably above him. Did you say yokich. Yeah i said yoga. I vow judas towns but yeah i think that some that are really like about lopez he can definitely stretch the floor but also there are times the playoffs or they relied on him getting just a couple of easy baskets at the pay to t- still can do that. One of my favorite games that i've watched Bobble when milwaukee played houston in the bubble and now is one of the most fun like strategic games that i've ever seen because it really just felt like two teams just said all right. This is our one punch. We're gonna throw you and that's all we're gonna throw today and see what happens and it was. Basically every single possession houston ran empty corner pick and roll james harden and jeff green and said fucking defended and see what happens and i think they took. I think i can't remember for sure but i think they took the nba record for threes in a game. That game Or was close to it like they took over. Forty was insane but then i think brooke scored thirty two or three three points in that game in almost all that was from that he just kept getting the ball in the post just kept saying all right. We're going to dump the ball in the post. Zero playing micro ball still with roko at the five God though the bubble was really fun for basketball watching a lot of ways like you have a game. The very first game That was just like a tune-up game when it was like denver had seven healthy guys and like bulbul yokich. Paul millsap was playing the wine. Like mess with the bull takes time was unbearable absolutely unbearable. That's what we call overreacting to one game. I hope things work out for bulbul but yeah no. That was a lot on. I ask you a bucks related to question. Yeah of course. I have one last question to probably probably not discourse that you care about two much but when we're talking about the greatest plays of the season last year was a better player. You with the block on eight or the holiday. Steel leading to the alleyoop kiosk in the finals or with bananas block the steel was dope but like the watkiss. It's the fucking walkman impossible. It's it doesn't make sense. That was one of the most absurd plays. I think i've ever seen that Trying to think what else that would rank up for with me like so there's that it's not a singular play but game five in twenty fifteen or twenty sixteen. I think it was game. Five twenty sixteen. Oh casey versus the warriors. Okay she has a big lead. And then steph and klay jus- go insane. And i've never like that i..

"Talking about intersection of athleticism skill is like one of my favorite things and he. He lamarcus aldridge have some real similarities to me in terms of like neither of them have awesome second jumps and by awesome. I mean very poor because they're just it takes so long for them to load up in some ways but rocca's gone from a guy who was really poor as a drop egg earlier in his career to finding out how to time things properly. And not wasting that. I shop and something that like aldridge had good offensive seasons. I actually thought like. I know that he wasn't awesome. Defensively in portland by probably closer to neutral or ravage like you look to. What alderson san antonio. I did think he got a lot better festival. Like the big difference for me has been roka's gotten so fricking good at timing his first shop and like finding the ability to do that is so difficult like finding the most the way that you can maximize your athleticism to be good at what you're asked to do and broke down that and i. I don't know it's just. It's very random thing. But i i. I've always loved that because one of the things about lamarcus is like and i'm not just using this as a point the harpen lamarcus but just kind of like in terms of similar guys who operate a lot of the post in their career that that played more drop Obviously different players but lamarcus never quite gotten that point where he's awesome at times. I jump like basically like if you can get if you can get lamarcus with the pump fake. You have an open even opened basket. That's been the thing for the last two years but yeah broke his For good so. I think when people talk about football footwork with centers on defense usually. They're using it in the term that they can step out and stay in front of a a perimeter player but brooke weirdly has good paint defensive footwork where he's always like positionally very very sounded. Exactly like you were saying those exactly how to get himself in between the ball and the basket. He's not going to really step out and affect any change defensively that way but he's also not going to be. Somebody turned around. Once you're in the paint. I think number one number two. He's just a really massive human being. He knows how to use the fact that he's a massive human being and once again..

"Like maybe bring and even though i'm not a big pack on i think i like maybe you bring rodney hood in which i don't know if that will go grape like maybe you have grayson and coming in and i i don't know i. It really just depends on how you have it set up. But i do think like there by bringing in grayson allen and having george welcome back you do have enough secondary hands where you can try and you know function around it. It's not ideal but I mean the goal is hopefully like you're not having played your holiday thirty five minutes of game. 'cause that would be not great in my opinion for this year yet definitely so. I actually weirdly. Think that this team right now is built more for the playoffs than the regular season. Because if anything happens to say lopez. I think actually lopez and holiday obviously jaanus because these but lopez and holiday or the two guys that are the hardest to replace just because there isn't as good of like even close to as good of a ball handlers holiday that can take over his position and then there's not really a solid like drop big like lopez that the bugs can fill in the gaps for because a lot of their impact during the regular season is just having really staunchy defense throughout and if they don't have lopez portis isn't going to do that. War isn't going to do that so i don't know i. I'm nervous that they might lose a few seeds if something happens to them but once they get into the playoffs. I really think that they're eight ish man rotation especially if everyone healthy is their strength going forward. Which is maybe the first time that i felt this way room. Like i like the playoff rotation right now more than the regular season rotation. Yeah i agree. Like i feel a lot more comfortable about their top eight nine than i did last year the year before. Which is that speaks. Pretty highly to to what they've done on the margins to really improve a nine a one of the last questions that we have a couple more questions to go through but one of the few remaining questions that have. Where are you our lopez right now. Because i don't mean famous in terms of like brook lopez's bax. He's not still a very good player. Plays near all defense level defense. The shot obviously has fallen off a little bit but he still done enough to be positive on offense but like you mentioned a little bit with george hill. Like i think brooke turns thirty. Three this year He definitely has has He's never been a great athlete. Given like i mean relatively of course but I mean he is thirty three or thirty four this year. I meant to say He's one of the few. Yeah he is one of the few midsize contracts on the roster..

"But i think i'm blower on more than you are. Oh come what i saw. I mean the last game of the season. I think it was against might against the bulls. He dropped thirty four and fourteen on sixty percent shooting which is just absolutely cool areas to me but when you say not a great passer i think he's a terrible passer like we're going to be very very honest. Just didn't pass i okay. Maybe it's not a terrible passer. He's a very unwilling passer at the moment. There's never a time when jordan is out there and he's like you know what this is a shot. I shouldn't take right now. Yes he threw a couple of nights times. I was going through. Salva's assistant like okay like once in a while. when you're feeling it you can zip it. In there for a nice layup or dunk pass but a lot of the time. It's like all right. I got the ball. And i'm gonna make something happen on it. Something else is a lot of the offense that he did create last year off pretty isolation heavy types of actions. He wasn't coming off action or chicago action or screens like that. It was like all right. I got the ball. I'm going to stop it for a second. I'm going to make something happen. And i'm gonna efficient enough score. I think he was an above. Average shooting percentage type of score that last year on obviously very minimal type of playtime. But you know that's good i. I like the fact that he could bring a little bit of offense but the fact that he's not creating for other teammates at this point and really you know he brought maybe a little bit of rim protection equity a little bit more than i was expecting not that he's like swatting shots away. But he's at least a big body knows how to position himself down there. So i like that but the lack of creation makes me nervous. You wanna know what his assistant usage was. When he was at louisville what was eight and a half to twenty seven So yes jordan. Aura has been much passer for a long time. But i also think it's hard because you look at that final game was the.

"I'm actually gonna turn this around to you because this is probably more of your wheelhouse. I didn't really analyze the osceola minutes on the celtics this last year. But i wanna know your opinion. How does he. How is he taking over. Maybe the pj tucker ish role resemble eat up minutes by being a physical defender in maybe providing at least anything better than the negative that pg tucker provided how. How do you think he'd be in that role. Well it's kind of funny. Because i think i mean he had just about his best shooting season in the nba last year shot. Thirty six point seven percent but on his highest volume best point attempt rate in his career. The problem is he can't dribble I actually am a sicko. And i wrote a a A a blurb when we were still doing our weekly thing on wednesdays on our league. Look around i wrote about how he was. Almost capable of attacking closeouts during these like seven-game stretch last year when he was starting That's something that. I'm really interested to see this year. Like i know that this very minute but if shamir osceola can attack closeouts. That is more than pj tucker was doing last year. Authencity part of the thing. I do want to see is a little bit less hesitancy. He got better with that this past year. He's not going to be the same defenders. Pj but at this point i think is more mobile He's not a great team defender but in terms of somebody like okay. Go defend the shit out of lebron for five minutes like is he probably gonna fallon shirt Is he going to be able to move his feet and his hands and we stay on him. It'd be a big body. Yes and i think that's where matters like actually shut. Its part of. It is isn't jasper like chevy's been called the. Yana stopped for a reason. Because he's begging in the way and it matters especially during the regular season like it sounds easy to cloud During the regular seasons..

"But i just think that we ought appoint lake especially with how the box constructed. It was really difficult to have on court at times. Even though he was helpful in some ways. I think it could be different for miami. But in a whole other pod that i talked about what they've rem on our last one that you should go listen to Which brings me to talking about. Some of the because i did really like Just given that the bucks had very little to work with this offseason in terms of bringing in free agents. I a pretty big fan of the moves they made. I want i want to talk about is action not a free agent addition in a way it was kind of their free agent but by trading sam maryland. I believe to second round picks to the grizzlies for grayson allen. I really liked that. Move for them. it's a very small marginal move but i think in some ways are really shores up some of the things we could look at with the bucks in the playoff run that they missed and that is having another secondary ball handler because i felt like especially down the stretch in that series You know outside of jrue and you know relatively honest. Because you don't really want janas creating off the dribble you wanted to get him on the move and whatnot as it seemed like you know but really got them in the habit of doing adding somebody like grayson allen who again. You're not asking him to run ten pick and rolls and game. But i just think he gives you some more variability and is gonna be able to face the floor. He can play competent team. Defense and do some stuff on ball. Well like i think he does help. Fill out the rotational bit because even though like we look as team you know winning the nba title. I had depth concerns about them throughout the entire season especially going into the playoffs. They want spite of that. But i really liked the edition gration. I agree with that. Actually i wrote a piece earlier this summer about have link below analyzing grayson allen. What he was able to do the last couple of years. And what he's going to bring to the milwaukee bucks this year and it makes sense why he's coming into bud system right now because we've been seeing since two thousand fifteen hawks. It's all about driving kicking making those initial dense having secondary and tertiary creators. Drive in and make something happen from that. And that's exactly what i think. Grayson allen will thrive and he himself. I think one of the stats in my article is he had one isolation possession every five games so he's definitely not somebody you're gonna give the ball and be like oh make something happen but if he's going to be out there next to guys like middleton or yasser holiday who are going to be making those dents he can create a lot of action through that i think he was a pretty basic passer like when he got feeding the pain. He wasn't great at getting two feet in the paint but when he did he was able to make some pretty solid kickout reeds..

"Boston. What better item to get a coffee. Centric business item and we reached out to. I'd say probably well. Over one hundred businesses of every shape you could think of and we drastically underestimated. How much of an impact. It would have on office amenities and put a huge stall on the project for probably ten weeks. We couldn't use it ourselves it's gigantic. You can't put it on your countertop yet the hook it up to its own waterline. Spur still all in at that point. I mean we've gone from a free flash strive to this twelve hundred dollar item machine and i was just flabbergasted. I mean i had no idea what we're capable of. Well unfortunately offload that for a few hundred dollars less than you would have liked but you traded for a drone camera equipment. You got a laptop than the where are you now so to previous times throughout the project we split if you will which is kind of have more than one item amount of time and we made a really conscientious effort to get back into this singular item approach. But we've since changed that philosophy. And i think a lot of that comes with. How many items are there out there. That would be equitable to our hundred and thirty thousand dollars a student on very high in car a pretty high end mobile home and then essentially house so right now we have our main item. Four thousand dollars camera bundle but we also have this smart home device and also this little crafting kit. All three at this point combined her in the forty five hundred dollar range. That's still a long way to the one hundred thirty thousand. What are you imagining carly. I mean how do you think this might go. Yeah i think we're just going to take it one trade out of time we've had some pretty significant jumps in the past. I think as we keep climbing they're just gonna get larger and larger jumps. Our goal right now is just get as far as we can and take as big of a chunk off from our student loans as we can others have said that part of the reason they're doing is because of the people they meet along the way and also this notion that you're reusing things absolutely anytime. We can interview sustainability into anything. We do in our life whether that's in our workplace. You're in our personal life. We're always looking for those small little gains well. We wish you both well meantime. Were you at all inspired by dwight. Sh- route who on the office and navigated at a company yard sale from essentially nothing to the very highest item. Junk oscar's trash for stanley's crap for ryan's junk for garbage for a very cute squid that aaron happen to have and traded my way to a telescope but in a way the most valuable thing here wasn't the telescope at all. No it was. This packet of beans traded the telescope. We have been offered magic beans many times in the project. I will say. Don't take them that john. Stout along with carly's a danny to college grads looking to pay off their debt by trading up john. Best of luck to you. Thank you so much. We really appreciate your time. thank you. "Bucks a half century. The milwaukee bucks. Fda it's the sunset on the phoenix suns as the milwaukee bucks closed out their comeback kid story in game six of the nba finals. Beating the sons one zero five to ninety eight and ending the team's drought of half a century without a championship title. Yoenis on taito coop. On take a comb. The greek freak the buck star player put up a legendary fifty points to secure that win not to mention finals. Mvp so let's bring in asia rod blakely. He's an nba contributor to bleacher report and boston. Sports journal welcome sharad. I have to imagine that in terms of a game that you'd want to watch and right about this is going to be the top right. Well when you not just the game but just the entire pool. Narrative is just a really amazing story that i fully expect at some point. We'll be coming to a theater near you. And i an incoming years but just how amazing i it is. You know i've i've known is Even before the draft because Covering the boston celtics they were among the teams. That were very interested in him. And i spend way more time than i thought humanly possible working on the spelling and pronunciation of yalta tentacle thinking. He would be a celtic But looking at the way his game has just grown and blossomed It's a it's amazing. I mean it really is a fairy tale. Come true and as much as you'll love the way. The phoenix suns were kind of had that kind of rising from the ashes. Feel about them. It's it was really hard for. i think. A lot of basketball appears to find themselves rooting against jaanus knowing his backstory knowing how far he is come and more importantly some of the decisions. He's made that have aligned himself with that milwaukee community and that milwaukee franchise at a time when mid market teams such as milwaukee are struggling to keep their best players but not only did he want to stay there but he doubled down with a major contract and delivered the goods of all goods in nba title. I mean for somebody who does not know a lot about basketball. Put this in context for me. A fifty points in one game. This is first appearance in the finals. But it's the third game in these finals where he's scored more than forty points right and in just the at a little bit more suspect to that you know. He suffered an injury in the previous round. That at the time. And i was actually in the building. It was against the atlanta hawks in atlanta where he went down with a knee injury that many of us thought was going to keep him out for the rest of the season potentially spill into next season. He returned a couple of games later. No worse for wear and it really galvanized for a lot of people. This the belief that this guy is all in on winning a championship and nothing is going to stop him not even potentially season ending. Knee injury And so again fast. Forward to last night where. He scores fifty points. And the most important game of the season. For the milwaukee bucks not only the season for the franchise janas attended to foles performance. Last night we'll go down as one of the greatest nba finals performances ever. And we're so close to the moment where we can appreciate. Its value but in two three twenty three thirty three years from now we will be talking about that game in the same conversation. Some of the great michael jordan Socities he's made some of the great colby bryant moments johnson. Kubo has entered that pantheon of all time greats. I guess a lot of people are gonna have to learn to pronounce that name. But you know. I don't wanna i don't wanna completely ignore the sons who just played so well in the first two games. The sons of never gotten a championship trophy. And what what happened. Why wasn't this their tournament more than anything else at least it. It became a matter of one. Person's will being beyonce's Against another that being chris. Paul in the phoenix suns and yannis had the stronger will i thought phoenix did a lot of good things throughout the last four games and for them it was particularly Tough to swallow because they lost the last four games of the series against milwaukee. They hadn't lost four consecutive games all season long. So i mean again. We talk about.

"milwaukee bucks" Discussed on The Steve Harvey Morning Show

"Now. What it only. Steve harvey got radio. Show steve harvey got radio show. Yeah man boil ball ballboy man. God has been good to me. I i can't even. I can't even put it into words man but i try though i try try try. God does things for me just right on time. He's he's so cool with it. And don't i happen to run across joel holstein on television like often do all the time and I was sitting there and he had such a timely message for me. Part of it was something that i've said oftentimes about. If you really really want to be successful if you really really want to change if you really really wanna prosper if you really really want to achieve greatness if you really really want to have something in life that's worth having if you really really want accomplish goals you got to push through all of it. He said that when you get closer to it the more difficult it becomes. Did you hear me. He said the closer you get to what it is you want or you need or you have to have all or you would love to be. It gets a little bit more difficult when you get closer. He told this story. That's in the bible that never heard before this is what he said he said. That was a man who was paralyzed and He had heard that jesus was speaking at a house and so he wanted to get there so he convinced four of his friends to put him on a stretcher in kerry hill for for hours to get to this house quad. Jesus was speaking. He said that along the way these friends said that that that they want along because he has so much faith that he could just get to. It could be better that he could if he could just get over there and he could see him that he might have a shot at getting hill and so he said they took out a long way and they walked and they walked and they walked for hours and then when they got there the house was completely field with people that was it was pat wall. There was absolutely no way for the men to get him on that. Stretch in to see geez. This is a story that jolting say is in the bible was telling it no. I'm just repeating the parts of it. I got gathered and so he said they sit there and they went. Wow man we walked all this way in his fool and and and and and we can't get there he said then the guy with the affliction told a four men. If you get up on the roof and cut a hole in it and lower me down. I bet i could seem in an better to be i now. He did say you must imagine how these four men must have felt when you carry somebody for hours on on on the way they had to carry some cloth connected by a couple of sticks. Said to me and shoulders had to be bruised. Head to have deep couches in them not cuts. But just indentations what had carried the waiter this grown man for so many hours and they looked at him in disbelief like man. What are you talking about. We didn't walk all this. He said yeah. But if you get up on that roof and you cut a hole in it and lower me down. I could see him when he see me. It'll be alright. After sitting there an imploring the men they went up and did just that and in an in the story that jolo's team said the man was healed but the point he was making was he was saying that the closer you get to what it is you really want. The more difficult is going to become. But you've got to push through if you don't push through you never know so you can't get right to the answer and because it gets really difficult star create knows little sayings that we got his people Where i guess it wasn't meant to be. I guess it wasn't mellors wheel now man. I guess you should not give up right now. I guess you should keep pressing. I guess you should do more because the in all of us in all of us when you've had enough i want you to know something you do have a little bit more it all of us you can do one more. That's one of my favorite things. I heard jolo's team said any kind of made me feel good. He said. I always feel like i can do one more anything and i tell my friends all the time i can do one moment i could do one day. I can do one mo anything now. Here was the jewel that i never really knew. That joel holstein And god sent to me. I needed to you. He said that no matter what you going through no matter. How long the challenge is you've been facing god has an end date for at all. Did you hear me no matter what you're going through no matter what challenge facing no matter what situation you've gotten yourself into god has an ending date. All you got to do is keep pressing forward. All you got to do is hang in there. All you got to do is don't give up all you have to do is don't turn back. There is an end date for all of it. Even when you think you've had enough and boy have. I had this conversation with god. Several things that i've been going through. I'm gonna odds even told him. Look i got it man. He said just keep hanging on. There is an end date to whatever it is. You're going to. There's an end date to your illness. You'll sickness you'll. You're tired of being tired. They as an end date to this relationship that you can't seem to get through beyond ovo. That's that's like a cancer to you. There's an end date but you've got to hang in there. You've got to keep pushing forward. You cannot turn around. You must not go back because when god gets you through this and you break through to the other side. The reward in the benefit is far greater than the struggle. I oftentimes re look at somebody things that god is brought me through in my worst times and when he bought me through i went wild man now that i understand that not that i'm on the other side and i have the benefit of the reward for it. Would.

Bucks Bounce Back to Beat Nets and Force Game 7

"We begin today with the milwaukee bucks going wire to wire to defeat brooklyn by fifteen points last night. Kevin durant scored thirty two for brooklyn but it took him thirty shots to get it. Chris middleton and janta compo- were much better they combined for sixty eight points and twenty seven rebounds and they shot twenty-three for thirty six wilpon does milwaukee's performance lead you to believe they can go to brooklyn and win game seven they can. Yes tony and you outlined all the important numbers all of them. And then there's one that's even more important it's zero number of three pointers jacked up by answers compo- none he didn't do it. He kept his big strong quick fast. Talented self in the space where he should be. Don't eat what you. I've been screaming for even the previous series. He kept himself near the basket and did his work there and stop jacking up those shots now. We know they can do it will they. I mean that's the first smart gamed. The bucks have played in. This series should have won the series already. If they had taken the same tact particularly with onto the kupu. But i do. I have faith that they will go with that same recipe. I don't know that. I have that faith. What about you. okay. So yes i agree with you that they can win right and one of the ways they could win as if pj tucker was able to do to kevin durant again in game seven what he did in game six. Because tucker was plus thirty and durant was minus seven but mike game six was not critical for brooklyn. They had a game to play with because the critical game for them was game five and they want it so for every home team has won. You have to tell me why that's going to change now. I look back on game five. And i see kevin durant scoring forty nine points. He's a great great player. I somehow have faith that if it's up to him to win game seven at home. He's going to win it.

So all it takes is one you know it took a lot of years a coaching to get that one and maybe the narrative would flip on maybe he'll change at some point. He's only been a coach for what seven years in the NBA Ricardo was a coach for much longer than that before winning his and he was over the course of multiple teams. So if you have a good talent capping a really good player. You, if you have a really good talent, the coach that proves that he can basically sleepwalked to sixty wins the regular season I don't think you like all that. Yeah. I do agree and I I know. But as like this whole aussies anything about he's GonNa Be Down Coaching staff talk what they need to try different things So you want segue into potential I mean I think you said Ron back basically but think there's any moves that they could or should make life. Thank actually own it asked you to i. what do you all think about the maybe unsubstantiated rumors about Chris Paul being traded I. Know We've been hearing these rumors like a and a half now but how do you feel about Chris Fall going to the bucks? So I thought about it overnight in this morning and I know I brought it up with you yesterday actually and I was Kinda high on it yesterday but now I look at it and I'm just like. I don't know man because. Like It's A conundrum because of how Bad Eric Bledsoe was offensively especially yesterday but I mean he makes their system possible. He's probably the best chaser in the NBA I. Don't think anybody fights over strings better than he does he's maybe the best we're contest guy in the NBA one of the best onboard offenders in the NBA good help defender. But at the same time, I do think is playoff issues are so real that you have to consider moving and you have the probably attaching asset with him to get off. This contract is it is it is a pretty significant.

"You know I would say that that thirty two in that victory was actually somewhat of a fluke and then you can drop threes like that. Once in awhile I almost think it gives you A. Sense that you have a lot more counters than you actually have. I. Don't think he replicated that playoffs. That's what we saw. I had an inkling at the time like all. Maybe this actually isn't sustainable maybe he doesn't have the offensive counters that I wanted to in the playoffs and you know my greatest fear came true but. I I with you I'd love to see him working on. I don't know maybe working more on getting offense put-backs, which is really good at already maybe setting up with the post fade or hook shot or anything like that where you can just last couple of aren't GonNa be patient to post figure out what I'm GonNa do and get a nice looking shot. It's the Dion Waiters Lance Stevenson effect you hit one shot that's really contested in terrible off the dribble, and then you think you can hit a thousand of them and then you brick the next ninety nine before you hit another one. And not say you know not the same thing with the honest necessarily but you get that false confidence will but I remember. Pat Comments and hit a three within two minutes of being yesterday mccaw. faulk buds are GonNa play in twenty five minutes like that was my first thought that POPs in my head. It's not like we pack Hodgson has been finder in the regular season, but he was injured for most of the bubble out for most folks the covert. And you just wasn't very good. So it's just that's where I'm getting apple. Yeah we can. We go into the next segment. You WanNa talk about bud, and what we think they should with him or the off season. I think talk about bud and then go into the offseason because I think who you know. Whether or not us around as it packed on what happened yeah yeah for sure. Let me just. Ask Well you should they move on from bud yes or no quick. I yes or no? No..

"Jaanus round pick and roll, and it doesn't happen often it doesn't happen nearly often enough, which is problematic. So much is built inza Janas driving to the rim and that's not open. They just have nothing. Not Sit, they have nothing dramatic, but like I mean to an extent. Yeah like I think that's part of the problem just the fact that they. You know there was the moment where bud put on Jimmy Butler which almost felt like out of spite, with all the media blowback about that So that was that was weird but I, I, don't know if you guys feel similarly but I think that's part of what it boils down to to me in looking at the team moving forward. Yeah I I've been thinking lately the way that they might wanNA use Janas because I know he pretty much right up there with some of the most isolation's in the league out prefers a hosting up more and I don't know if this is a zagging too much with everyone else. But when I see him, I see a physical player that reminds me of shack and when you go back and you watch like prime shack, it's not like He. was. The most efficient score earned the post, right his hook shots in his jump hooks and whatever else weren't like fluid book like Kareem Abdul Jabbar something like that. But he was just such a powerhouse that if you're banging away a one person in single coverage so much the team essentially has to send double coverage right so they're just gonNa have to double Yada Yada says to take a page out of that book and essentially be like I'm. Physical I'm GonNa make this game really hard for the rest to call accurately because I'm just going to be creating contact both ways every single possession so bad I wanNA see more. Bang in the post like that instead of trying to dribble around get through these walls that teams are able to set up from the perimeter. Yet. When seems set up those walls they basically get to pick who the help off of you know they can be like, okay we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA. You know really off this side, we're blood. So standing But when you post up if you have someone like he's supposed to be on the. Elbow him. You have someone a over on the wing. You know you can kind of put one of your better shooters there. So that if they do double off with that guy, you know and yeah, this is actually really he's not leap acid reza solid passer he can teams are coming he can make read so. You know a lot better than him being in the post at least. So I think that's a way they could utilize not even to help Janas because I mean he obviously has numbers can't even get any better but to just help the offense in general But I think of more of him using him as a screener enrollment a lot more. That's where he kinda get into the issue though of they don't really have the passing to get him the ball all the time there. But just the role gravity he commands is just like you know joins the size almost anyone league in like if role he was more of a screen roll man, he could you know behind ad could be the best in league but and you know the points per possession on his roles are great. He's great at it, but they just don't really use them there and I think that can kind of segue into off season..

"Especially, with our Janas student, they just have no especially in the playoffs. They have no guy who can just other than. Middleton. Who can just go get you a bucket now, who can isolate the shot clock winding down your set falls apart or teams paying way more attention to the actions you running who do you have? That can just get you a bucket and Middleton Ken soon extent I mean we saw it in game four or he was hitting mid range pope's like. Crazy but you know that's kind of letting brogden go who can do that to an extent they don't really have those options. Even one Janas plays in all it's kind of walled off Make him kick off the right shooters and you know I, think this kind of also transition into free agency are not free agency but trade acquisitions like a get but where you out with their offense, cody. So I WANNA go back to talk about the hawks for just one second. So. The a lineup of led by Demari Carol Al Horford Kyle Korver Paul, Millsap, and Jeff t a seventeen, an old record in one buck. So I I don't care what anyone says. Coach Ma is a fantastic coach like that's that's ridiculous that loan but to. The top tier coaches. So I'm restaurant way but something else on going off what you were saying here's the thing about Chris, Middleton I'm love Chris Middleton he was super efficient shooting fifty, forty, ninety, this year I don't know if they actually hit but he was pretty close all season but the thing about his game is that am by no way comparing the skill levels but he sort of had this like methodical slow paced Kobe Bryant, Kawhi? Leonard? Sort of offense were. Given the ball he can dance a little bit. He wants to get to his mid range spots at score were asked the type of guy that thrives really well with Janas the type of guy like Malcolm, Brogdon is somebody that's GonNa catch in this driving capture situation and just drive to the rim that's going enough that they're going to be able to burn by somebody directly off that catch, and you can see that because if you look at be ball indexes numbers. jaanus actually created the most shots for teammates fourteen point to open shots as a game. He was the leader in the NBA with that. So if you're standing on the perimeter getting ready to catch sherp being able to just helpful, but then you need to have that secondary action like Russell Westbrook is in the rockets offense were you get it in the you just charge to the basket. So you know I unfortunately, I don't know if that duo is a perfect fit and I know the NBA is not about perfect Vici after work with whatever you have. But that sort of methodical. free-flowing offense that Middleton prefers as you can see, actually work better when Janas was off the floor. It makes sense I think the biggest thing I come back to, and this is obviously a bigger talking point that we can make your whole to later but. I think just the fact this team treats you honest like he's a wing, is the problem a major chunk of problem. When teams can really low it up during the playoffs like the heat have I mean they'll pack three guys into the paint And you know we see Middleton in..

"That's great. Then when you get to the playoffs and you don't have these Bolton counter-punches, counteractions, it kills you. Yeah I. think that's where that's where my biggest issues that. You don't have to abandon the drop coverage They have so many smart defenders in high Q. Defenders and talking about Lopez Janas Wes Matthews bledsoe Middle Emmy. They're all smart high Q. Players George Chill all the benched players they know how to help win to help. So. You don't have to drop everything especially when you're facing team over and over and over again all they see is the same coverage. They're gonNA find ways to beat it. They're sitting there preparing between games you have a great coach and split show. You know they're gonNA find ways to exploit it. And you just like you know you can play like Toronto does. 'cause they clearly just want to protect the pain at all costs. So plate like Toronto and just kind of over help the paint and you don't spreads dealt the shooter's you know they have so many smart defenders where they can do that and I just I don't know I think they just need to be flexible with a drop when they need against certain teams against certain lineups that Miami is thrown out there but you know conscious protect the pain be smart defenders in other situations. I completely agree, and the thing about the bucks to is I mean they could have switched from as aggressive of a drop covers as they were doing because their usual draw coverage is like taking a general drop coverage in like putting off steroids brook. Lopez's like underneath the rim waiting for people to charge him. Yada shirt. You can still drop but maybe having like ten feet from the rim but not necessarily directly underneath and. Then something to what you were saying earlier mark off I don't necessarily think bud is a system coach, but he actually falls in the same category as Jerry. Sloan did when he was coaching the as and I don't think anyone who call Jerry Sloan, a system coach he had a specific system network really well for him and it took to jazz the finals in the nineties but the fact is with John Stockton Karl Malone. That often was the it didn't have as many counters either and that's why you saw the same sort of offensive drop off in the playoffs. As you are seeing, the bucks here is when you don't have those nate like you were saying when you don't have those counters built into your offense and you're in a playoff series where you're only going to be playing one team teams can scheme will lot easier and you know, I think I keep thinking about what Scott set to us in our playoff preview podcast. We were all talking. We're raining praises on the he talking about how beautiful their offenses whatnot and Scott's like, why don't you just the heat to sweep the pacers and we were like, well, we don't actually think they're good. So I think we should have went with our with our gut reactions there to see the heat are able to make all of these reeds dynamically during the course of a game that really speaks to how good of a coach Eric's pollster is..

"Guess Cody August ask both you guys, where do you think the biggest adjustment they could have made on the defensive and was Honestly I think you have to play honest a lot more the five. I think I was texting mark about this a couple of days ago. But I think this is a weird combination of like an Uber Shawn, Marion Shack in the sense that he's so flexible on defense. But obviously, he's a better defender than Marian who is a fantastic defender in his own right and if you put them at at five position than let him bang in the post a lot more pick and roll, HE'LL BE A. Lot more damaging not offense in on defense. Don't drop Jaanus like like Martin Chris Middleton in a pick and roll don't drop them against the pick and roll if you'd be honest at the five switch everything. So those are a couple of things. Let Janas play the five a lot more switch over to a full switching defense and don't just work. Don't count on his isolation's to do damage I. Guess those are some of the main. Was Looking at yeah. I think I looked at was it's not even like it has to be a full switching defense not to counteract what you're saying I. Think you know just the general NBA Fan or at least not discount people but NBA twitter in general they're all about switch everything and I think to largely that can be overrated. Because I think not every guy is great as a switch defender even if they have them ability. But I look at it as more like. It with how matchup dependent the playoffs are. The fact that this team was so non matchup oriented was weird to me. I think that's what I. looked at the most like. I get dropping Brook Lopez I. think that's a good thing to do. But like like we're smashing dropping dropping you honest just with the kind of player he is in the guys that he's dropping against. It doesn't make sense like it just it almost seemed like. Not Cutting off your nose to spite your face but it's You're so intertwined with what you do that. You're unwilling to change it even though it's very clear you need to and I think what I look at not to get into the off-season or anything but I, think. That's the adjustment for me is just Having a game plan other than what you're set with because I think. That that's an issue with coaches you know. If they have some that works and they have a system I don't WanNa call buddy system coach I know a lot of people are throwing that around, but it's it's I mean when you think of assistant coach here I mean they're fine. They're not like world leaders but they have stuff that works for a less talented team but what bug was doing I mean they were storage team they were almost seventy one team on pace through that during the regular season so I struggled. So that's just a system you know I get it. It's it's new obviously is a system, but it's It's just hard to look at it and be like, okay. Well, there you shouldn't have done that but I think the fact that they didn't have any built in flexibility is where the problem came i. think they spoke really highly on unnerved. She wrote they talked about how you know teams like the bucks just don't they. They are so focused on what they're doing the regular season..

"This is Ben Golfer with the Washington Post I am joined on the other line by Michael the pod Pino who is everywhere on the Internet these days riding Michael we history yesterday we're taping this on a Thursday morning I'm sure our listeners know the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday decided not to take the court for their four PM game against the Orlando Magic it was scheduled to be game five of a first round playoff series instead, they remained in the locker room and held a team meeting for more than three hours. Before you know coming out and making a brief statement to a small group of media members that had assembled outside their locker room at the arena here in the as bubble that decision was really the first domino that set off an entire chain. You had the other two games that were scheduled for Wednesday between the Houston Rockets the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trailblazers. Those games were also postponed with the intent to reschedule and you saw other sports follow the lead whether it's the WNBA, a major league soccer major league baseball. All I had some of their games or all of their games postponed. In, the wake of the Jacob Blake Shooting in Wisconsin Michael, it was a very, very crazy day. The tension has been noticeable here over the last three or four days within the bubble and yet still I do think the bucks decision caught a lot of people off guard. If you'll indulge me I want to just walk or do a mental stroll back through my day yesterday sort of what it was like being in the arena as entire thing unfolded. How's that sound? I have been waiting for this since it happened I mean we're we're living through history right now you are on the scene I can only imagine just how wild yesterday was for you at I'm speaking of someone who is on the outside just. Sitting on my couch with my job and all day long, and I can't even figure out what you were trying to do I. Mean you're you're on the scene working. So what? Transpired for you, Ben. No, it was pretty wild..
