Ryan Braun Announces Retirement, Leaves Behind a Complicated Legacy

"Ryan braun The the brewers formally announced his retirement. Yesterday he announced. Its milwaukee brewers. And i gotta say this. Because i i think of ryan braun is being Like lance armstrong of of baseball Not only did he use pd's but he also attacked people leading up to that most notably the sample collector specifically went after him Publicly accused him of being anti semitic He called other players when he was a i. You know. I had the first positive drug tests. He told them look this. This collector was coming after me. he's an anti semite. And i thought it was just despicable. And so i give mark at nausea. The brewers credit for his loyalty that braun. I'd say this. He's a better person than i am. A given that. If i were mark grad nausea after bron lied about you being a pd user and then accepted a sixty game suspension. What was it a half year suspension. I would have never forgiven him after giving him that. Huge contract mark attanasio did no in from afar. That's my viewpoint to. I can't get passed it. He tried to destroy. Somebody's life yup and he lied. You know that was. He gave that speech in february of two thousand twelve. It wasn't until two thousand thirteen that he finally got caught up in the biogenesis investigation and got his suspension. I get it in milwaukee they the fans there for gave them gave them standing ovations. You know on the field is the third greatest brewer of all time. You know buying rodney out in honor for me. I just can't get past. His initial reaction is. Denial is lies. And you know great player. No doubt thirty thirty. Mvp all that. But you know. I think i would hope. He looks back in wishes he had done at all differently.

"Park. This guy shine as a member of the Brewers out of the pen. John Axford. Remember him back in 2009 was great in 2011 came out of nowhere. Well, raise your hand if you expected the Brewers to sign John Axford to the 2021 Major league roster. Considering he started the season as a TV analyst for the Blue Jays. I can't imagine many people are raising their hands. But here's John Axford coming back to the Brewers. He'll wear number 59. The Brewers acquire him for cash considerations. What got him back on the radar? John is pitching for Team Canada and the Olympic qualifiers back in May. So he hit 98 on the radar gun, which is about what he hit when he was with the Brewers. Yeah, I mean, who knows where this goes? He had a great run with the Brewers for a short period of time, but would not have expected crazy him to be back with the Brewers on a contending team here in 2021 going to be fun, that's for sure. 3 17 at WTMJ. "Mandy. James harden saga changing by the minute. The latest report this morning from sham saints. Pardon has the bucks the milwaukee bucks in the miami among his preferred trade destinations. Along with the seventy sixers and the brooklyn nets crisper starts sticking around with us. What do you make of this latest report. Well look i. I said earlier. When nick brought up the miami heat that makes a lot of sense. James harden in miami and that organization with those players around him. The ones they'd be able to keep. I think that would be a tough team to be in the eastern conference milwaukee. Look any time you bring in a player like james harden ninety percent of the time when you bring in that type of superstar. You're going to have to work some things out. You're gonna have to work out. How he fits in with your other star so we might look on the services they do he. John is really fit. But i would give it a try. If i'm the milwaukee bucks giannis is on board with it. If i could get james ordinaire look. I don't think they can. But if i could i'd give it a try broussard. Him including the milwaukee bucks on his list he might as well as included. The milwaukee brewers on his list. It's impossible they gave us their picks ken's so we can cross that off. It's a great idea but it's not happening. The he could happen now. I don't think the he would give up bam out of bio. But i'm sure they'd give up tyler hero. The future picks that aren't encumbered already. You'd have included in order to make the salaries work and some other stuff. You probably include kendrick nunn. Who had a decent rookie season. So i think the heater a real possibility. But what i think this does is actually finally moved. Daryl morey and i say that brandon because darryl has known the nets do not present a real threat in this trade deal because they do not have the assets to make this work. The heat cooled. And if he's going to expand his teams to include milwaukee in miami he might expanded even further. So right now daryl. I feel like has been holding back offering ben simmons which i think would get the deal done assuming tillman for titas and said you're not allowed to trade daryl morey because he's mad at him for leaving the team but i think all of a sudden this is causing real meetings in miami and real meetings in philadelphia. I think in milwaukee. They're like i mean we can call a meeting. But unless you're in love with dante jones. Oh i don't know what to tell ya. Milwaukee Brewers designate Smoak for assignment, add Vogelbach

"To play first base for the Brewers moving forward. I think we got indication based off. The comments made by David Stern's Tio Tom had recorded the Journal Sentinel earlier today, but we don't know for sure. Now, when the Brewers that designated for assignment Justin Smoak, and at the same time bring in another first baseman, and Daniel Vogel back, I think it's there's a logical thing that says, OK, smoke out Vogel Bach in he's going to be the guy over at first base. I don't think it's gonna work out that way. Because just based off the comments that Stern's made earlier today, it really sounds like Jed Jerko is going to be the guy who's going to be given the first opportunity to play first base a lot. Not There's going to be the every day guy, but he's might be the closest thing that the Brewers have to it, and Jerko is mainly face left handers. This year. There has been There's a good chance that you listening to this right now might be kind of throwing your hands up in the air going Finally, because I could tell you just seeing what I see on Social media. There have been a lot of people that have been calling for Jerko to play more often. In fact, it kind of goes back to a bigger question, and we've discussed this before on Brewer's extra innings. When you've got historical data. And then you've got, like right now Data. How do you How do you juggle those two things against each other? And that's why Jerko has played so much against left handed starters because from you look at what he's done over the course of his career. A and he he has done has been very successful against lefties not as successful against righties now this year that hasn't held up he hasn't been given is many opportunities against right handers. But he said, Okay, success against right handers this year and he's been okay against ah, against lefties as well. And that's that's kind of where where it's been at for this year. Now he's going to be given an opportunity to face righties and lefties. That's going to be his job. I would think again. I'm just kind of reading between the lines and seeing what David Stern said earlier today. It really feels like Jed Jerko is going to be given that first opportunity to be the guy who plays first base a lot. It's a

Ryan brunn overruns a fly ball and the cardinals as they are want to do or any team in major league baseball. It's their craft. They pounce on that opportunity. And they took it to you. We didn't we didn't. So question, you know, we'd be made defensiveness. There's, you know, your time limit to panic or still get out of it. And we just couldn't get out of after that. So taking ridiculous. Ben Cohen ball. Pretty well. Last night had a rough outing Adrian Hauser made his major league starting debut for you guys last night. How do you assess his first major league outing? Yeah. I think you know, it was okay. You know? I thought the first three anything to pretty pretty well is lighter which is a pet that has really improved. This year was was not great last night. But he, you know, for the most part give nine heads everything on the ground. And that's a trait that he has keep them on the ground. Any good job job efforts readings. But you know, he made some mistakes, and you know, the mistakes leva park. That's one thing that we've got to do a better job of our patriotic ball in the park. A lot better job of that. It's causing committee runs fan aboard. So I would say, okay. You know, he he's been better. And gonna be thing. We'll see out from this year. It'll be much better than we are live with brewers manager Craig counsel bruised three sixty WTMJ. Okay. We've got a little bit of a bigger sample to work with. No, we're almost a month into the regular season. What do you think your team so far? I don't know. Those those are. The strange questions for me. I mean, we could we could change the answer that thing everyday thirteen and eleven that's record. So that's that's how we're doing. You know, I think there's been some good. There's been you know, I think we got a pitch better. You know, you're Ernie record whatever it is. And I think we've earned two games about five hundred you know, and in a second at balance and see what happens moving forward, and if you're looking for maybe a silver lining right now. Jeremy Jefferson's coming back. He's been really good was really good again last night. How important is he going to be for your bullpen moving forward? Yeah. I think John seeing from Jimmy what we want. And that's you know, the every time he goes out. It gets a little better is what I'm saying. So. Ninety four last night. So I think there's arm strength is they're coming of getting better on so not good signs there. So as you know, I think we've tried to eat Jeremy into this. I think that's right. We'll keep doing that. But she's getting pretty close for sure. Yeah. Bruce three sixty our goal is not to inform fans as to what's going on on the field with our Milwaukee Brewers. And also to find out the pop culture temperature of the locker room last week. We came to find out that manager Craig counsel in most of the Milwaukee Brewers give no nothing's about game of thrones not into that. So let's ask about the other big pop culture thing coming up this week avengers end gained the wrap up to the marvel comics twenty one film saga, are you into marvel superhero movies? I am not. But but we do have we do have a guys. So we the off day a bunch of guys are got a private screening that that we're going to. So that's that resonates a little more than game of thrones. For sure the other thing that seems to resonate not only in your clubhouse. But in the front office a little bit as well. As wrestling bronze Stroman was out there. I don't know anything about wrestling under the honest with you. But what is it about these guys that connect with your guys? Yeah. That's. We do. Eric Eric stains is a big wrestling fan for sure, you know, I think those guys, Sal, our PR directors huge wrestling fan, but I looked at the sheer size. Stroman is like everybody go while. So. Those around. Yeah. Connection with the wrestling guy. I'm not sure why. There's always been. Cruise manager Craig counsel against Bruce three sixty will enjoy your screening later on this week. And better luck in Saint Louis starting tonight. Great guys. Thank take care of twenty delete. Jay Bruce, three sixty sponsored by Dave Droegkamp heating and air conditioning. Gives us.

"You're listening to continuing coverage on WTMJ. The funeral the honors in the procession of fallen Milwaukee police officer, Matthew Rittner, so you hear the brewers promotion there. And it's almost baseball season. Such a big part such an important part of Matthew Rittner 's life earlier today, multiple members who eulogized him mentioned his love his passion for the Milwaukee Brewers. We're looking at live pictures at oak creek assembly of God church. The casket of Matthew Rittner has now been wheeled out of the church a church. It was packed every seat taken four thousand mourners. The casket has now been wheeled from the church past an honor guard to the back of the waiting white hearse the band that holds the flag on the casket has now been taken off as the honor guard holds that flag in place a chilly February day about twenty five degrees and blankets rashly just given. Two members of Matthew written family who were standing outside his wife his parents uniform personnel now standing at parade rest. We can see Wisconsin governor, Tony Everts, Wisconsin attorney general Josh call. They are both their Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett flanked by alderman. Tony's Alinsky Michael Murphy and Bob Donovan, they are all there as well. Of course, Milwaukee police chief Alfonso Morales and his staff there. It's interesting. Some of the blankets being handed out if you've ever seen these blankets. They're kind of a grayish material there the blankets at the state patrol holds in the back of their squad vehicles. Their blankets said they use typically if you're stranded on the side of the highway or they need to use an emergency situation. And it's by and large members of the state patrol who are now handing out those blankets and a very chilly cold day. This could take forty five minutes to an hour outside. Most are wearing gloves and hats, but many are Andrew. Dress uniform, which means they're not in their warmest year. They're not including usually meant to stand outside. And let's go back and listen. This is the honor.

"He's not a good example. But what I'm saying is talent can only take everybody so far so you have that. Peak of people that are like my trout. That's a great person and a great talent. That takes you so far but for everybody else there has to be a high level of being a good character person and there are guys that aren't like it's it's the character. Maura morality argument. You know just because you're moral person doesn't mean that doesn't mean you're going to be a major league baseball player but that high character person that makes a difference to me and that's what I look for. That's why I try to talk to these kids. Get to know. Even if it's twenty minutes in in a meeting like anything I can get out of them just just so they can learn. I can learn from them their love for the game because I really believe. That's what separates people above all else. That is what separates people wanNA. It ends up being the reason that you're willing to suffer when things get hard to you know when you're in a huge slump and you feel tons of pressure and you just don't know how to get out of it and you want to quit because we all have those. I have those you know. It's it's that like no this. I can't just give up on this. That easy like this is bigger than that like. This was so much of my life. I'm doing the and it's got to be like for you. Not For someone else like you're playing for you know because you're t-ball coaches will be disappointed if you quit or whatever like there's so many external factors that people carry with them. But I know for me I always played for myself and it sounds like you always played because you love did not. Because you're anyone else wanted you to. Even though you grew up with a really great you know baseball. Father figure It doesn't sound like you and forced into it at all. It was just both in in both of your DNA. And so that carries you through those hard times and like gives you the forces you to dig deeper rather than like look for ways out like you look for solutions are out and look for ways out and for those of you listening. Who maybe haven't caught up on the PODCASTS? As Much Zach Clark was on the show twice. He and I were teammates. He is about the same size. I think technically maybe a quarter inch shorter than I am on paper but pretty ordinary size right hander. Senior sign got a thousand bucks made the major leagues after briefly. Making it to the major leagues was asked to convert into a knuckleballer. And he said all right. Let's do it and took a really interesting turn for the for the remaining years of his career. But like a guy who's just extremely well liked agree clubhouse guy someone who as a young player like you so when you want to emulate someone who got more out of his career because he was such a good teammate. Such a good respectable like professional so I'll put links in the description here on on Youtube. Orrin podcast land. I'll I'll put those in there. So if you want to click through and listen to his one of his past episodes where I share his story or he shares his story all definitely put that in there for you see a little more context but so it sounds like you dig deeper looking for the intangible stuff that ultimately when you know and it seems like you know full well that there's a funnel and when all guys become relatively equal physically you wanna say as a scout that you've found some guys that you knew we're GONNA put in. Maybe that extra worker Grit through tough times and find ways to to make it and that is and with that being said. I mean there's still level talent. They need a they need to have. But like I said there comes a point and that talent is talent his everything when when everybody's talented if that makes sense so there comes where you talk to. These big Lakers like. They're mentally stronger than in their abilities than most people you know. For whatever reason everybody gets their differently. But that's one. That's the common theme. I I do notice so for young kids listening and parents and coach is you've through the game in so many different angles You've played you've coached. You've scouted give some parents and players a couple actionable things they might do. Now that you're scout there's a Haitai you know here I am. What what universal tips would you give a couple of players or parents to help them along their journey and maybe give themselves a little bit better chance to make it to the next level whether that's college or professional baseball? The biggest thing I'd say is to do it for the love of what you're doing no why you're doing what you're doing And IT'S A to go back. This is a game. I mean over four four four. I think the big thing is like sometimes if you know kids aren't succeeding and whatever. I think a lot of times we have to change the meaning of success for baseball and I think a lot of times. We don't know the meaning of success. You know because we're looking at three hits we're trying to get three hits in one at bat and I think to make success more attainable for these kids will make the game fun more fun so I think to be mindful of where the kid is at in their abilities. is another big thing to be able to to be honest with themselves and what they need to get better at in the sense of. Yeah Little Johnny's week right now but you know if he focuses on the right things the right techniques to write. Hobie fine so I think with all of this this progression a baseball I think success needs to be treated like a development tool house that a development in in the game like car rides home shouldn't be bad with their parents should be always you know how to. Why did I have so much fun today? You know and it's just it goes back to the club baseball thing. Is You know these kids play so much that you know it's an competing is less that it all dwells back on themselves because the winner lost doesn't necessarily matter. Okay that makes sense. It's a cultural kind of situation. Nowadays where I don't think anyone knows what they're looking to accomplish. Sometimes on the field like redick trying to get better. Were we trying to win to this? Are we trying to win? This game didn't matter like what Games do matter tournaments I. It's hard to know as a coach. I did this last year. It's like do. I need to care about winning here or can I care about getting kids wraps or like putting them in situations that help them. Its ambitious I think. That's an important distinction for parents. Understand that on the car ride home. It needs to be a focus on you know just caring about your your son and and remind them that it's supposed to be on and they should have enjoyed their day at the ballpark or at practise or whatever it was. Yeah exactly I mean. That's that's what it's about at dinner at the end of all of this. I mean these kids won't remember three threes and five years but you know remember the fun they had and that's it. There should be a fun initiative to to Amateur Baseball. And I think if there's anything I've kind of taken away from from you today. It's that like you really love the game and it seems like you've grown up up in it and you've always enjoyed yourself doing it and that seems to be like an overwhelming obvious thing just in the way you talk about baseball even from all different perspectives. On it. Baseball was was an is and will continue to be a fun thing that you just got out of bed to do whether it's scouting or coaching or playing. Yes I mean absolutely absolutely. It's all it's all it's all about the people and that's the cool thing about baseball people. They make the game. The game is something that we all have in common. It's a special bond because the game is it's such a special game you can run the clock out you know. There's like they say there's there's beauty in baseball and that's you know there's no cure thing than that in a biased way but there is beauty and baseball. Cy How How can listeners follow up with With you new twitter any other social media that you'd like to share yeah. I'M ON INSTAGRAM. At Tie Blank Zero. Okay awesome and I'll put links on that on the on the screen here on Youtube and I will also put links in both the show descriptions so if you're interested in following tie to follow up with him and kind of be part of his journey through scouting and message out there so tie thanks for being on the show though you had a lot of really good wisdom to share. I mean especially from guys. Who aren't the most physically talented? And I'm also one of those people you learn more from them because they had internalized game. They had to find ways to get better. They had to find ways to win in a maximize their ability. So I was pretty certain I was GONNA get a bunch of that from you today and we definitely did because I think for a lot of the smaller players out there for guys that haven't or maybe your late bloomers. I think there's a lot they can take from you and your story and some of the some of the tips that you gave and some of the stories that you shared just in how you became the best version of you and try not to let external factors change you along the way now. I appreciate that but the bottom line is anything to do in life and especially this game. 'cause THE BASEBALL GODS. No you do it for the love of. That's at the end of the day. That's that's what makes it fun. That's what makes it enjoyable as doing it because you love it and that's what it's about do it for the love all right. Well thanks again and I'm sure we'll talk soon. Yeah thanks Dan all right so that wraps over this week. I want to thank again. My guest high blank Meier really awesome. Talk there's tons of stuff to take away from that especially the lessons learned as a guy who wasn't the most physically gifted on the field ties Nada huge guy. He's more of a second baseman type and he learned full well that he had to stay within himself to be successful. I think that message really shone through in our talk today. So just reminder this show and everything else grows through sharing through hitting the like button leaving her view so if you feel compelled today do any of those things. I greatly appreciate it any links. So to other podcast. We alluded to today as well as my book. Some of my free resources might email newsletter. "He used to tell us. These congressional fantasy baseball leagues end Ted Kennedy was a huge fantasy baseball guy. If you wanted to get a Bill in front of them, you had to send it with a cover letter of trade offer or anything like that that would get his attention. And so I would I would love to get somebody to come on here. And talk about the secret fantasy baseball leagues that exist on Capitol Hill. Well, I figured that. Like, if you get one wrong, it's not gonna you know, you're not gonna seem stupid. But if Jason or Paul gets one wrong out of the baseball section. It'll make them feel stupid. It was going to be great as we're gonna miss re they're going to miss a politician or one of our local politicians or one of the prospects from our favorite team because that's probably how just we'll the beauty of. It is the the names that sound like they could be both or a lot of race for us. Grease. This is fantastic. All right. Let's start with. It's a woman gave them. Sure. You just didn't pick them anyone. Well, that that that would seemingly be a good answer. But I have all the women in congress on the list. So just in. I throw it went out there just to mess. So we'll we'll see we'll start with you you being the guest, and we will go with. Let's see. Hey, Jason mentioned Kennedy. Let's go with Brett Kennedy. Oh, lord. I'm I'm going to go reliever. Very good right for lunch. Yeah. I knew that one weirdly enough. All right, Paul. Here's your here's your chance. Adrian hauser. Oh, that's a pitcher. I remember him. He was a prospect. I don't know if he's still prospect didn't he is he the guy who threw up on the mound when he was in the majors. I don't know. But he is a prospect. Yes, I do that. Milwaukee brewers. The Astros traded their go ahead. And it wasn't Bruce picture that threw up on the mountain. All right. Let's see. Daniel Sullivan Jason. That is a congressperson. It is a congress. Well, because because there's certain pretty well. Yeah. Let's see. Ellen. Brett Cumberland got to Brits in a row. I am gonna go congress person. Prospect. He's a catcher for the Baltimore Orioles. Their system is just stacked. Yeah. That just so a congress person. If costs enough to the can just go. Yes. Jean mcclanahan. Shane mcclanahan. Prospect is a prospect for the pitcher. So it's hamp obey raise that one was against the engine. Engine prospect USF, Brad. But he throws a hundred is lefty so on team though, because the eight USF Jason Joaquin Castro. That is congress critter. He is a congress, man. He's Texas Representative for the twentieth century and a school. Never mind. Hill in Jose, Sarah. I knew. Yeah. You know, I was just thinking you were really trying to mix us up by like putting Latin names in here is probably more likely to be a baseball player than a congressperson. But. Really ver he's a congress where it's all he he's the Representative for New York's fifteenth district. Oh, yeah. Who doesn't know that come on? She cats myself. Yeah. Definitely out got yourself on that one might turn Paul who is Paul Cook. The white bread. Name is definitely. Politician. For California's eighth district. Oh, just one of those districts. Let's see Jason who is in Hamilton. That is a pitcher. He is a reliever Chicago White Sox. I think he pitched here in Charlotte last year. Oh, yes. Either you go. Prospect in his own backyard. "We are now thrilled to be joined by the Chris. Now I'm not going to do the Christian yelich Joe joined by Milwaukee Brewers, superfan my friend, Patrick Somerville, the creator of maniac. The co, show runner, writer co adaptor you've a lot of titles on code Abia. Yes, could be here. Thanks, thanks for having us. Patrick were so happy to have you here on the sunset Gower studio lot while the maniac billboard across the street from that Doda still halfway there yet in the front says, Jewish, renters Ozark. Yeah. Well, the shows come hot and fast enough flex. Chillier adventures of Sabrina thing is coming in fast, but we still have a little window here. Congratulations. Thank you on the show. Thank you. We're very happy to have you here to talk about it. Despite what I told you this is not primarily going to be about preschools on the side of Los Angeles. We can talk preschool though. If you want your kids, those are topics of equal disinterest, Chris, Ryan. So we got him. We want to talk about. So if everyone at this table has seen every episode of maniac, I assume Patrick, you haven't? I have has two. Oh, great. Okay. So this is safe space for listeners. We're gonna talk about the whole thing, but I definitely wanted to begin with a little more process stuff because I was speaking to win. This whole thing was coming together and I just feel like it's such a bizarre convergence of events and people that you found yourselves apart of right. Can we can talk about how this came to you because originally this was a Scandinavian format Norwegian show Norwegian show called maniac that net flicks or visit Netflix. I was anonymous contents kind of pulled it out of the ether and they took it to Kerry and Kerry I think was intrigued by a number of elements of that show. And then he went to Emma and then I'm a and he went to Jona and Netflix sort of, I think, caught wind of this project around that part of the process. That's sort of the package building. Moments in TV show creation, which is matters more now. I think than it did when I when I first started even five years ago and Netflix kind of took it off the table as as a show that they wanted to make, even though there wasn't really a take, you know, there was a concept and it was a Walter Mitty concepts, but even beyond that, there wasn't that big of its Hake. And so so at this point everyone's enthusiastic about is the prospect of working together, right? Netflix wants to work with Kerry Kerry wants to work with them and Jona they wanna work together. Again, they wanna to work with Carey, so there's goodwill, but there's no there there. Yeah. Yeah. And I think maybe the one little extra pieces that I think Kerry was excited about being able to shoot in multiple genres and same show. Right. I think as a director, I think that was interesting to him in and a challenge and all the things that make a project exciting when it's so abstract. So it came to you as this. Did you ask to watch the Norwegian. John show, or were you just asked to provide ideas of what a show with this quality of people involved in it and with this title could be. It wasn't. It was. It was a little bit more general the conversation and they, they had been talking to writers for a long time. I knew I remember reading them. I don't. Actually. I have no idea what we'll com. It was I remember reading in the trades about the show when the leftovers third season room was just getting going, which is what you were working on. That's and that's why I was. And then I remem- I had my first conversation with Carrie via Skype in June of twenty sixteen, which was we had two weeks left in the in the leftovers run..

"It then back to Milwaukee if you need to for game six and seven, what that does for the Milwaukee Brewers is it makes it difficult for them to use Josh hater a lot Josh or did not pitch back to back very often in the regular season. He did it maybe five or six times, obviously in the play offs, there's a higher likelihood that Josh hater does that, but the dodgers what do we know about the dodgers? What do they do really? Well, they work counts. They build up pitcher workloads vary significantly. So I think the bullpen attrition here in this series for the brewers is their biggest downfall because Milwaukee has a great bullpen, but that bullpens wanna to get a lot of work here in this series. One of the things about the dodgers that gets overlooked, especially when you talk about playoff time is that they work a lot accounts, which means you turn the lineup over a lot faster. They draw a lot of walks. The analytics based teams are paying a lot of. Attention to that third time through the order penalty. One is that mean for the brewers? Well, it means that if they get four, four and two-thirds something like that from a starter, it's going to be a big time boost for them. They're going to be very happy to get four and two thirds at a time from their starting pitchers there. They'll probably have a bullpen game or two at some point in this series as well, like the brewers attrition rate in the bullpen. Is this going to be way too high in this series and the dodgers don't have that same problem. You know you've got Clayton Kershaw. Yes, he's had playoff problems, but he can work deep into games. You trust him, hunt Jin Ryu. Does it walk anybody? Good. Strikeout rate this year did battle some injury problems. You can trust him to work deep into a game, Walker bueller. Maybe the best Ross stuff of anybody on that dodgers pitching staff, maybe the best raw stuff outside of Josh hater of any pitcher in this series, then you've also got rich hill who did struggle in his cameo appearance in that series against the Braves, what another guy that you can get four or five. Solid innings, oughta him in all likelihood. So the problem I have for a walk in this series, I think they're pitching staff is just going to get so overworked. And it already is pretty overworked because they didn't get a whole lot of innings. From the starters, in the regular season, they relied heavily on the bullpen. They've played a lot of playoff type games here lately with the the playoff race for the wild card in the division. Now the dodgers have as well, but the dodgers are much deeper team from top to bottom. So depth is the big factor for me here in this series. Also, the dodgers offense has gotten much better. They were very, very good in the second half the brewers got better in the second half as well. But I trust the dodgers a little bit more in the playoff run environment. They hit for more power. They'll draw walks hits or less. You get a lot less hits when it comes to the playoffs because you know teams defensively shift. You've got a lot more hard throwers that are out there. So you get weak or contact. But there. There is a correlation between playoff success and power. The dodgers have more power than the brewers in this series. They go on the road to Miller park, which that good hitting environment. So I do like the dodgers here and this is tough for me as somebody that has a Dopp did the brewers as a second team and as my National League team. But I just think if the dodgers have a lot of things that don't match up really well for the brewers here in this series, and when you think about the cubs and the head to head battles between the brewers in the cubs, I know that they won game one sixty three. The brewers have had problems with the cubs because the cubs walk a lot, and the cubs really only had offense this season when they drew walks. The dodgers will draw walks..

"Wow. All right. Corrobos derby thoughts. Okay. I thought we were going somewhere else. Would you think we were going nervous? Everything did why? What topic might I get nervous about. You know, we got, we got, we got to put it. We got to put a bow on on the derby, dairy. I all right. And then there's there is something that we have to address the okay with the winter. There is an elephant in the room, the winter. She's she's sitting right there. That's there's. What what's let's address Yeltsin address the elephant? I do. Not a good. Look, my Milwaukee Brewers, not a good look for the Milwaukee Brewers. Not right now. It's not. I've been there start with start with gene secured taking your boy hater. That's that was probably the worst part. No, it got worse. We'll because if he didn't give up the home run, I don't think that people would have been digging through his tweets. Interesting. That that happens. You're absolutely right. Yeah. People are like, oh, it's like he just gave up a home run. Let's now. Yes, dig through his tweets. Yeah, that's man. It's so brutal that that happens. But like when you when you when you go back and you look at some of the heat that this guy was throwing to fire it is he checked off a lot of boxes. We won't repeat them on this podcast. You repeat him? No. All ready seen him. So in SF w the the man in question here, hatred, Josh Hader has a lot of hate in his heart. Apparently hope he's gotten it out. I feel like he's gone out. I feel like he's taking it out on the competition. That's what we've seen. He's he's gone from racist homophobic, misogynistic, sexist tweets to give striking guys out. Exactly. Gimme. Seven seconds. Yeah, he's found a way to constructively direct his energy. All right. He's, yeah, they're hitting other people. He's hating batters zone. You slice it and he's doing everything. He can't change. He's trying to keep people saying done. Yeah. So still a bad dude. He's got n. bombs, he's got like homophobic tweets. He's got like some some hateful tweets towards women. It's bad. He checked off every about just about every box you can't. You said exactly. Not not quite the bucket list. You wanna take care of also on your all star night, but not even like like when he's dropping bombs, it's the full and. Bomb. It's not like the. "One thing i do wanna touch on here with today's show is places to find data and i get a lot of my data from different sources out there and i will relay a lot of that my picks analysis piece and use that stuff so you don't have to go and look it up but i do want to throw out some of these places here sort our listeners can you know where to look for things as they go throughout the baseball calendar fan grabs his fantastic you know they're writing has actually gone downhill quite a bit here of late with some of the departures that they've had august fager strong for example getting a job in the milwaukee brewers front office dave cameron hired by the san diego padres chris mitchell who did the cato projection system excuse me he took that private now proprietary data for some teams because that was a system that had been doing so well some of their writing has really gone downhill some of their top contributors you know what have kind of had their hands tied a little bit now with some things that have gone on over there but people like jeff sullivan david laura or laurilla ipod if i butchered that there's some good stuff from those guys pulse forward as good work with rodeo graphs you know there are a lot of people that do good work with wrote graphs alexandra's another one you know are just a lot of mike pod horror is another good one a lot of good information still at fan graphs from select writers and of course their statistics because they incorporate so many of the advanced metrics there player pages are phenomenal i use fan graphs every single day to write that picks analysis piece to look for some information that we can use to our advantage so i definitely recommend fan graphs another thing i recommend is buying a subscription to the athletic and i know that there's a lot of resistance here to the business plan that the athlete has but a lot of the games best beat writers are now behind the pay wall over there at the athletes and we talk about this all the time on the show whether it's conference specialization or just using twitter to your advantage you follow the beat writers you'll fall.

"They need six weeks to ramp up their armed strength so that they can go six innings out of the gate so that they can go 100 pitches in the opening two weeks of the season spring training has built for pitchers the rest of the position players they use did not come in in shape and they would go early spring training would be six weeks to allow guys to get in shape that doesn't exist anymore guy's go in great shape it spring training is really about some revenues deciding who is on your roster and then it is about length thinning out the pitcher's as far as the of their ability to stay on the mound starting pitchers four five six seven innings so when we're talking about jake arrieta and lance lynn and alex cobb they need to be in somebody's camp and i would think teams like the minnesota twins and the milwaukee brewers and others including the yankees have interest in getting those guys on their roster sooner rather than later the answer is that an advantage for some of these teams like the brewers or the twins or or or who whomever is at an advantage for them to say hey listen you you should probably be on a roster pretty soon i don't think it matters to area atta his agent it doesn't matter to lynn and his agent because they'll they'll get paid the same regardless and because they're they're gonna be signing of a four five sixyear year contract and it's all guarantee unlike while we had lashed last week with garoppolo and talking about breeze and or aaron rodgers quarterbacks in the nfl x amount of their contract is guaranteed as soon as these guys sign it's all guaranteed so it doesn't matter so much to ariana lynn or cobb it matters to the club you would think that the club if they saw one of these guys signs with the yankees the twins the brewers or or somebody else they want them in camps so that they can get them healthy and slowly progressing.
