"No way of keeping track of how many a person had bought over the course of the evening. So there was nothing to prohibit repeated trips to the concession stand giving the alcohol over 2000 hours were countless other bad ideas fans were able to arrive two hours early at the Ballpark though. Some of them had even pregamed before that. The beer was usually 65. Which would be about about 350 these days so being marked down to $0.10 meant it was about a fifty cent cup of beer on an average Tuesday game of the Indians had maybe Lucky 13 thousand fans in the stadium on 10-cent beer night. There were over 25,000 proud Indian supporters. When the Texas Rangers took the field against the Indians. It was a maid continued attention during the team's meeting six days earlier at Arlington Stadium in Texas. The game had devolved into a brawl has the result of a series of on-field incidents during the game in the fourth inning the Rangers Lenny Randle slid into second base to disrupt a double-play attempt that aggressive slide later prompted retaliation from Cleveland pitcher Milt Wilcox during the eighth inning first Wilcox Thursday morning pitch behind Randall's head when Randall laid down a bunt later at that Wilcox went to tag him out but was met rather abruptly by Randalls forearm first baseman, John Ellis stepped in and took Randall and from their both benches cleared out as the fight unfolded on the field Texas fans joined in pouring beer on the Indians incidentally all of this took place on the Rangers 10-cent beer night club. But this will seem absolutely tame in comparison, Texas manager Billy Martin for his part wasn't worried about going to Cleveland Indians don't have enough fans there to worry about Martin wasn't the only person Fanning the Flames Cleveland radio personality Pete Franklin took Martin's insult and used it to rile up the Indians fans in the week leading up to the game. Rinse your Stein and get in line with the kid and his Texas gang are in town and it's 10-cent beer night at the Ballpark cheap alcohol in an anything-goes atmosphere during the game led to some pretty incredible Antics. This is 1964. So, of course there were streakers several of them would at least one young man sliding into second base completely in the buff during the second inning a woman flashed to the entire Stadium from the back deck circle before trying to kiss the Umpire Nestor child lock from the bleachers a father-and-son mooned in unison as several other unclothed fans ran across the field according to age. Sports writer and injured participant Dan Coughlin the game featured nineteen streakers one potential Factor was the muggy heat that summer evening. Another could have been the number of college students recently. Let out for summer break who were in attendance not all of the fans were pleased by the debauchery around them with families fleeing the game early to try to escape one concession stand was run by our two teenage girls left on their own to try to handle the crowd. They abandoned their post and smartly so the concession stands were soon overwhelmed with people reportedly throw tables out of the way and serving themselves fans began to serve themselves directly from the beer trucks in the parking lot though. There are conflicting reports as to whether that was mob rule or that was the decision of odd ball park because the concession staff couldn't keep up. During the early Innings of the game fans took part in all sorts of raucous Behavior throwing things onto the field as fast as the ground crew could keep up with it and there were a lot of firecrackers. So if people brought firecrackers with them, you know, they were planning on Mischief announcers Joe Tate and Herb Score plead with the fans to stop littering the field which only prompted more garbage to be thrown onto the diamond at one point Rangers first baseman, Mike Hargrove had to duck a jug of wine being thrown at his head the Rangers Bullpen had to be cleared out after someone began throwing firecrackers into it. Tuesday night games usually saw a few hundred maybe a couple thousand fans Not the 25,000 that turned up the stadium had only fifteen security guards for a crowd of twenty five thousand. They were woefully unprepared. The security guards did their best to keep the streak herself the field and hold the troublemakers and check but their best wasn't good enough was just a matter of numbers according to announcer Joe Tate security people here are just totally incapable of handling this ground. They just well short of the National Guard. I'm not sure what would have handled the crowd right now. It's just unbelievable from the second inning onwards grounds crew never sat down under the constant onslaught of items being thrown onto the field and the more they moved around the more they became a target for the things being thrown fans launch cups. Both empty and full hot dogs golf balls batteries rocks anything they could get their hands on during the ninth inning of fan jumped onto the field ran toward Rangers Slugger and eventual American League MVP, Jeff Burrows and snatched his hat when Burroughs tried to kick at the man the outfielder lost his balance and fell. By some accounts the fan took his glove and Burrows chased him back to the stance. Either way. This was the breaking point for spectators and players alike. People flowed down from the bleachers. Hey Kya, Rangers manager, Billy Martin felt his players were in danger and not unreasonably so and armed with a bat charged onto the field with his team. He cried out. Let's go get em boys and the Rangers followed Rangers player Mike Hargrove later recalled that that showed up later and it was broken once all the Rangers took the field of the games spiraled out of control the Rangers some twenty-five men strong were quickly engulfed by roughly two hundred drunk fans with more on their way down from the stands the Indians led by manager can aspermont a grabbed back and took the field to not after the Rangers but in an attempt to protect their opponents from their own fans play-by-play announcer Joe Tate narrated the scene hilgendorf Has been hit in the head. He's in definite pain. He's bent over holding his head Hargrove has some kid on the ground and he's really administering a beating Tate and fellow broadcaster Herb Score could only look on and off in addition to the physical aggression the fans began pillaging the diamond itself ripping the bases right out of the ground had umpire Nestor chalak was unequivocal in his boss option of the rioting fans and players animals. You can't just pull back a pack of animals when uncontrolled Beast throughout their you gotta do something. I saw two guys with blades and I got hit with chair. This is one of the reasons the game was shut down child lock saw blade sticking out of the grass near his leg and knew that the situation was Dire. The other reason the game couldn't continue with the bases were gone. The Umpire called the game a forfeit for the Indians and got out of there the disorder and forfeit certainly hurt the Indians they'd been in a position to win the game during the birth. Sitting with the winning run on base and a chance to pull their record even ultimately they finish the year with a 7785 record fourth place in the American League East Cleveland Police arrived after the game was forfeit and gathered up only nine fans who were charged with disorderly conduct most injuries were minor bruises.

"Dot com where they're always trying to make your car shopping. Fun, Kitty. Thank you for sticking with us here. White Sox Air 24 15 coming in first place in the ale Central half came up. On the Indians and the Twins. How good is this team? Ron Kittle. You know what they're playing pretty good baseball right now. An American league. They got a few glitches now and then, But everybody seems to be picking everybody up. Hombre is still hot to me, Understand? I mean, you guys are great players under team. They just need to go out there and keep that confidence level up. Not make any, You know, Bad mistake. You know you're going to make your heirs. You know, you just don't want to make fundamental mistakes and cost your ball game And I think right now, if they can continue to play, was there 20 games left or something? I mean, they have our 30. They have a chance to. Ah, take a seat and this season on top and bring up the math here. How many games left The White Sox have. I think we all need to do this because I should be paying closer attention in a 60 game season. White Sox coming in today. 20 Foreign 15. That's 21 games left. That's crazy. Is that crazy? Ah, it almost seems like it didn't happen, but You can't worry about 162 game schedule. You got to worry about the last 22 games that they're going to play and play to win. Is your bigger concern is well right now. The white socks if you pay attention to playoff likelihood, according to ESPN, the White Sox are 99.6% to be in the playoffs. Everybody in the ale Central is going to make it, but the Indians or 99 point for the twins are 98.9. As you know, you're sitting with the 24, 15 23 and 15 24 16 17 is going to make the play offs from each league. You're in the playoffs. Kitty is your bigger concern The fundamentals that you're naming or whether or not they can actually pitched the level that you need to pitch from a starting perspective. Come playoff time. I think the starters need to go out there and focus and be dominant. If they're not down on that. They're not gonna win. They're not going to take it all the way. I mean, you can't just go out there. I have five starts and have one really good ball game and look awesome in the restaurants of mediocre. We need the starters to go out there and when they are, at least people were prepared to win every single game. They pitch or they start and that that's the best chances for the team because they're going to get some hits. Ah, You know they're going to score some runs, and they're going to play baseball. You see Louise Roberts Homer the other night. I did. Yeah. Yeah, He's ah Marie calendars, young man and the hope he stays high. I mean, that was Ron Kittle level distance right there, Kitty. Almost, you know, I give it you don't get crazy. Now we'll write. You know your 500 ft guy, And that was only for 58. So really your kind of holding back right now you're saying that was nothing? Well, you know what the ballparks are changed nowadays, and the game has changed, but it's still pretty impressive. He's He's a very talented young man, and I think he's going to have a lot of success. How many roof shots did you hit? Finished up with seven of them? When you had hit a roof shot. Did you know right when you hit it, that that that that ball is going to land on the roof, you know, a couple times. I did. But, you know, you're just you're not focusing. I mean, nobody would ever planned to hit a ball on the roof. Even and batting practices that hard. It just has to be a pretty good swing. Ah, you spend it up, so it just takes off. He's going to get it close to 500 ft. Just to get it to the roof. You put the ball on the roof? I don't know why I find that amazing, But you and the bullets just I. It's really special part of a void of White Sox history. What do you Ah Do you? What do you remember with the LaRussa and Seaver? If anything, You know, there was one that Ah Oh, they talked. I remember the rooster was going to take him out one day, and I think I was D h and I kind of heard the conversation. And A certain situation and fever goes, eh? I'm going to get this guy to pop up advanced law Third. The next guys going to hit a ground ball down, strike out the actual one that Tony was going to take him out of date. Then, he said, also Tony, he said, You know, I can lose every ball game for the next five years, and I'll still be a better 500 picture than most people and Tony walked back in the dugout. Seaver did exactly that. Next guy popped up from third in a ground ball. Honey struck out the next day. We got out of the inning. I mean, that's that's that's like a scientist out on the mound. Yeah, yeah, that's awesome. I got one more for you, Kitty. I now do you remember? Do you remember the Jack Morris? No hitter. Does that ring about slowly? Yep. I think you made the final out in that game, Did you not? I did. And it was like 28 degrees. What do you just trying to tell me? I'm like now we're striking out making the last time but it was like 28 degrees when we finished again. Uh, Jack Morris came over to the locker room and asked me to sign in the lineup card in and I said, I said, I'll sign it Did I swing and he said no. And but it was one of those games that it was so called. Everybody just wanted to go home. But it was a check swing. I've seen it 1000 times never went around and the Empire said victory and he ran in the locker room so Eh? I'm a part of history. April 7th 1984. Apparently there were 20 Weller tickets sold 61 24,006 and old Comiskey Park. Now, do you know the Tom Seaver relevance to that game? I'm guessing you don't I know I do not. So apparently, you guys had a rain out earlier in the week and he was supposed to start that game. It was. It was the Saturday NBC baseball game of the week, which used to be a big deal. And now, of course, is not. And so he got bumped to Sunday. And Morris through the No head herself. That that is the Tom Seaver. Relevance to April 7th 1984 kids. You should be impressed that I have that level of knowledge. Well, that's pretty good. But do you remember what happened The next day after that, you don't know him. The next admit Milt Wilcox through a one hitter and Jerry Ryan Jerry Hairston broke it up in the bottom of the ninth. Really, because it's I just went April 8th. It says you guys lost 73. Could kitty be coming out the next day? No. Wilcox do a one hitter. It might have been two days later. I don't know. But almost there was almost no hitters in in a in a two or three games span, and we get to the next Let me get to Ah. Hold on Mill Wilcox. Jerry Hairston, I'm going. I'm going. I'm going. I'm going. You guys scored. Oh, yeah. Oh, no, no, that's not it. Milt Wilcox. Oh, here. Oh, I'm on the Yankees games. I just I lost it. I'll have to look it up your kitty, But I believe you. You know you guys did not come out. You didn't. You didn't come out of the gates firing and 80 for no. You know what Spring training pitchers have.

"I appreciate everybody listening out there. If you're just tuning in now we appreciate it. We talked about the latest proposal between the Major League Baseball and the MLB. How money is the root of all evil especially when it comes to media coverage and communication right now around baseball and the latest proposal to return to play not the safety. Your health concerns of the players. The owners everybody involved but the money who's GonNa make it. How much and that just. It's it's tough right now. Listen to these conversations in the economy and where we're at as a country in regards to the pandemic and money still being the cause that we may not get baseball as frustrating as a fan but right now we're in our best segment here. The Best of the best talk in the American League playoffs. We're down to the divisional round here. We have the number one seed and the team that got a bye into this round. The nineteen ninety eight New York Yankees and they advanced face the lowest seed and that was the upset from the wild card weekend. That was the six e Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy Baltimore Orioles. That'll be one semi-final and then in the other semi-final the one thousand nine hundred eighty four Detroit tigers the number two seed take on the number four squad the two thousand and four Red Sox so starting at the top with ninety eight inky and the one thousand nine hundred seventy orioles part of me thinks that these may be two of the best four teams to ever play. I know we talked about the National League. The seventy six reds the diamondbacks. There's a few others in there. The ninety five braves but this seventy orioles team. The more I research about it the more I read about it the more I engage with fans who were alive and watch this team because again confession. I'm thirty one years old. Born in nineteen eighty nine. So I wasn't even a thought in one thousand nine hundred seventy. I didn't see any of these guys. I just know the history of the game. The statistics that were involved and kind of the communication around the style of that team as well and even with the ninety eight Yankees being a nine year. Old Kid. You really don't know a ton about the sport at that point. You're still just having fun. You know you're good at it you know. You're playing it at a high level but you don't really understand and appreciate greatness when it's happening at that moment but looking back on both of these units just incredible what they were able to accomplish three twenty game winners on the. Orioles side of things and then just the video game lineup for the Yankees on the other side of things and the pitching matchup for this unit. Here WE HAVE THE GAME ONE ANDY. Pettitte he will go against Jim. Palmer for the Orioles. Let's see game to be David Wells Against Mike Quasar game three David cone against Dave McNally and then game four. Because now we're in a seven game series so ultimately you need four starters when it comes to this it'll be Orlando Hernandez or held duquet for the ninety eight Yankees and his big lake kick going against Jim. Hardin for the nineteen seventy orioles and there's a bit of a drop off too hard in from the first three and they're twenty game winners but breaking down the series. The first two games being in New York. I'm going to take a split for the Yankees I know Palmer and quay are on paper or probably an advantage over pet and wells Yankee stadium road game. That's a split you go to Baltimore you get Conan Al Dukes versus McNally and harden. I think the orioles take a two one lead there but then L. do gay wins game. Four were back to New York. Andy Pettitte Andy Pettitte. He Wins Game. Five at home game. Six steps up wins that one at home over David Wells. And then you've got a game seven where it's Dave McNally and that bullpen going against David Cone followed by Orlando Hernandez and the Yankees offense of Tino Martinez Chuck Knob Lock. Derrick jeeter Scott Brosius Bernie Williams Paul O'Neil or strawberry or Asada. I think they break down the Orioles and get over that Hump in game seven and ultimately advanced to the same going ninety eight Yankees in seven games just due to the bullpen and some of the depth when it comes to the offense there for the Yankees as well so yankees advance next. We got the eighty four tigers and the oh four red sox again. I don't know a ton about the one thousand nine hundred tigers but the more I read the more I learn the more that they were a great ballclub. The Oh four red sox that's when I was in high school. I really appreciated that team. But they were down three nothing to the Yankees. If it wasn't for four nights in October in Boston and New York. We're not talking about this squad being at the top here. But looking at the pitching matchup Jack Morris Against Curt Schilling Dan Petri Against Pedro Martinez Milt Wilcox Versus Tim. Wakefield and then one bearing her versus Derek Lowe and breaking it down once again games one and two are in Detroit. I'll go split games. Three and four in Boston split again. I think the Tigers get to the knuckleballer game five I'll give to curt schilling game six. I'll give the Petri and then game seven. I like milt Wilcox over Tim Wakefield as well as just a perish behind the dish. And then the balance of Lemon Gibson Evans Whitaker Trammell Johnson offensively for the tiger so I think they get to Wakefield and low and that combination in game seven going from a knuckleballer to a sinker. Baller can be tough for an offense to kind of get a rhythm and get their pace going but personally. I think that the eighty four tigers are able to get it done and I know the offense for the Red Sox. No four is very very good. Don't get me wrong. Manny Ramirez Johnny Damon. Gabe Kaplan David Ortiz. Kevin Millar Jason Varitek. But I just think those names and those that balance from the Tigers ultimately allows them to advance and that brings us to Al Cs of the nine hundred and ninety eight tigers versus the eighty four. Excuse me the ninety eight Yankees. And the eighty four tigers the number one seed versus the number two seed once again game one. Andy Pettitte versus Jack Morris Morris David Wells going against stand petri game to David Cone Milt Wilcox in Orlando Hernandez do gave her his one bearing earn game four back and forth. I think it goes in the as well. Andy Pettitte Jack Morris Wells Petri back and forth and ultimately honestly I think the Yankees win in six like I said I think the seventy orioles would be a little bit of a tougher match up for the ninety eight Yankees just because the Yankees Video Game Lineup. Going into those three twenty game winners may have a little bit more difficult. Going against the eighty four Yankees are excluded. Eighty four tigers. They got a strong rotation the eighty four taggers. But it's not with the seventy orioles are and I think the ninety eight Yankees just continue to beat up offensively on anybody that they run into. And it's an interesting conversation because it generally pitching wins championships. Offense Wins Games. Pitching wins championships. Now if you're looking at a world series of the ninety eight Yankees and the seventy six reds the big red machine. That's a lot offense coming in there. It's not the seventy orioles versus the team. With the second best rotation ever the phillies didn't win it with the four horsemen. But yeah it's it's an offensive game here in. Excuse me in the fantasy world of the best team ever for Major League Baseball history but tune into Monday's episode. We're going to break down the world series full game seven. Try to talk about what we think ultimately going to happen. The starting pitching matchup. Some of the pitching hitting matchups. That could happen later in games and we're going to pick a winner. I'm also going to ask you guys and some of the social media platforms so you guys think would win between the seventy six reds and the one thousand nine hundred ninety eight Yankees but those are the two squats the ninety eight Yankees Win. The American League the seventy six reds win the National League ultimately after doing this. I do think the American league's a little bit deeper looking at the best of the best. The top four of Yankees Tigers. Red SOx orioles is very very strong and I think may slightly outpace what the National League was putting out there but once again it could be CA- due to the designated hitter. I'm not mentioning David Ortiz and the National League in here. I am talking about why. He's a big reason as to why the Oh four red sox are currently where they are but hopefully you guys have been enjoying that honestly. I've had fun looking at using baseball reference looking at statistics looking at matchup. Breaking it all down. Hopefully you guys agree with me out there or at least not too far off some of my predictions but Let me know where you disagree. Hit me up on facebook. Dm ME on twitter. Certainly Open for conversation. If you WANNA leave a review and write it in the review will read that here on the show. We'll talk about why you think it should have been the the. Oh four red sox advancing and not the ninety eight Yankee Som- certainly opened for conversation but that wraps it up guys here for the fourth segment of the GMC baseball podcast brought to you by the MC podcast network. That was a lot of fun. But we're going to transition a little bit when we come back after the break we're GONNA be talking about the MLB draft yes. "Leave us a five star rating right a review if you leave a review. I'll read it here on the show as well as head social media to facebook instagram twitter. Check out the G. S. MC podcast network as well as the GMC baseball podcast. We post a Lotta articles on there. What we're going to talk about on the show all the latest episodes. If you happen to miss one keeps you guys up to date on everything going on major league baseball on everything going on GS emcee but now. It's my favorite segment of the show. These next couple of segments talking about the best of the best. We're getting close to the finish line here. It's not to be today but this Sunday is going to be. The last episode involves switch. Team is the best of the best in the history of Major League Baseball last episode. We did the National League. And eventually the nineteen seventy six reds came out on top on top of the two thousand one diamondbacks and that squad there. Now we're transitioning over into the American league and a reminder for everybody out there who I have in which divisions where their rankings and ultimately where I think they end up in the post season starting out with the L. East from number five to number one number five the two thousand eight devil rays number four the nineteen ninety-three Blue Jays number three the nineteen seventy orioles number two the two thousand and four Red Sox and number one the nineteen ninety eight New York Yankees so the Yankees. Obviously advance to the postseason winning the American League to in this quote unquote fantasy best of the best segment transitioning to the AL central number. Five Twenty Sixteen Cleveland Indians number. Four thousand nine hundred ninety one twins number three two thousand fifteen royals number two two thousand five white sox and the winner of the Al Central. The nineteen eighty-four Tigers. The eighty four tigers advanced to the post season and clinched by one in the AL central in the American League West. We have number five the two thousand eleven Texas Rangers Number Four Twenty Nine thousand nine hundred Houston Astros number three two thousand and one mariners number two two thousand and two angels number. One nineteen nine seventy three Oakland Athletics. So are three obvious. Post-season and seeded one through three but in which order are one through three and number one seed obviously being a big deal because just like we talked about last segment segment to talking about the proposal for twenty twenty and this scenario there seven playoff teams as well so number. One is getting opening opening-round round by that number one team is the nineteen ninety eight. New York Yankees. They will advance into the divisional round. Sit Out Wildcard. Weekend is what I'll call it since it will be a best of. Let's call it a best of five in this scenario. Even though they're doing three in real life here we did. A best of five in our simulation are fantasy world in the Yankees advance that leaves the number two seed the one thousand nine hundred eighty four Detroit Tigers and then the number three seed. Nineteen seventy-three Oakland Athletics. And you know. I wasn't as progressive enough. I wasn't as futuristic in my thinking to allow those teams to then pick which wildcard teams. They would wanNA play in the first round so I continued through four through seven discussing. Who could ultimately make the post season where I think they will be and once again looking at the American League East you have the Red Sox. Nineteen Seventy Orioles and then the ninety three Blue Jays as potential wildcard teams the American league central. You have the o five white sox fifteen royals ninety one twins up for potential playoff spot and then out west pretty much the two thousand and two angels. I have the two thousand one mariners there as well but world series champions. It's going to be the two thousand and two angels so that breaks up number four. I have the two thousand and four Boston Red Sox. I think they're runners up in the AL. The first wildcard on the list here making the slot here and number four so then that means the match ups number four the Red Sox. They'll face this next team number five in the wild card slot. Well I have that one as the two thousand and five white sox the AL central runner-up. I will continue down the list of teams but I think they finished just ahead of the number sixteen just due to the Oh four socks in the ninety eight Yankees being very very good but that number sixteen I have is the one thousand nine hundred. Seventy Orioles. I have that rotation making the postseason here. I have them in the sixth spot once again. Because I think the ninety handke's were so good and then the Oh four. Red Sox are going to win a ton of Games. As well that the seventy orioles will win enough to make the postseason but just less than the five white sox who along with the eighty. Four Tigers will beat up on the central. But that's the last team. I think there's quite a gap from the seventy orioles and the red sox down to the ninety three Blue Jays which essentially brought the conversation then to do. I think it's the twenty fifteen royals are the two thousand and two angels ultimately fighting for that last playoff spot coming down the stretch. I gave the edge to the two thousand and two angels. I think we need a west coast team another one here besides the athletics out there and I think the angels squeak in in that two thousand two squad ultimately makes the postseason so that gives us a matchups that we're going to break down here. Let's go through the first round in this segment. Leaves Rounds Two in three for the next round to finish up conversation but that leaves the number two tigers in the number seven two thousand and two angels game? One will be a match up between Jack Morris for the Tigers and Ramon Ortiz for the Angels Game Two is Don Patriot and Jarrod Washburn and then game three milt Wilcox Kevin Appier go in for the angels. The eighty four tigers. There's just there's too much there for the two angels Morris Petrie Peachtree Ha. I don't know exactly which one that is Wilcox I think the rotation there is much stronger than Ortiz Washburn. Abeer you know looking at that. Oh to Angel Squad. It was a good ball club. But it's not in the same class as the eighty four tigers. I have the Detroit. Tigers moving on and four not going the distance here win in this series and move on to the divisional round to see. Who Will they take gone to be continued but the next match-up number three the nineteen seventy-three athletics face off on the Nineteen Seventy Orioles? And the pitching matchups are as followed games. One through because you only need three starters for best to five so to me. I think that's where they shut down later on. We'll talk about four starters deep but nineteen seventy-three athletics. They'll run out Ken. Holtzman against Jim Palmer. Vida blue for the athletics. I said Vida in past episodes but vita blue. He'll go against Mike Quasar. So this was a battle of the mispronunciations for myself in past episodes. Vida blue versus Mike Ular. Well it's square so thank you to the listeners. Out There who interacted with the show online on social media helped me out with the correct pronunciation there so we got in game three catfish hunter. And then Dave McNally going there. So the seventy-three athletics in the seventy orioles. I think this is the best first round matchup in the American League. Both of these teams are absolutely loaded. Absolutely stacked the orioles is a six seed may have been a a division winner elsewhere. If they weren't in the east in this particular season but I went with the upset. I gave one one upset in the National League. I think this is the one upset spoiler alert for the American League. And I'm taking the sixty nineteen seventy orioles to advance in five games. I think this one goes the distance just because of the athletics offense but ultimately that rotation of Palmer Quay and McNally getting a four and a half at least four starts out of five games would be enough for them to take this series in advance and then the final match up in the first round at two thousand and four red sox versus the two thousand and five white sox the battle of the socks right back to back years here so if you guys watching baseball in the early two thousands. Try to remember who you think would win this matchup games here number one curt schilling going against Mark Burleigh game to would be Pedro Martinez Versus Freddy Garcia and number three Tim Wakefield versus Jon Garland and truly mark early. He's better than people remember. He had his moments obviously no hitters perfect games all of the above Freddy Garcia. This is early Freddie when Freddie was dealing not old Freddie when he got Philadelphia and was injured and couldn't really muster anything anymore and then Jon garland solid number three but the red sox are just too deep too strong Manny Ramirez David Ortiz chilling Martinez Wakefield. There's just too much there and ultimately the Oh four. Red sox advance in four games against the white sox so the eighty four tigers advance in four games against the O. Two angels the Nineteen Seventy Orioles advance against the nineteen seventy-three athletics in five games. And then the Oh four. Red Sox beat the O five white sox and advance to the divisional round in the American Lake. But that'll wrap it up for the first segment here the third segment but the first one of the best of the best. We're going to continue this conversation and segment four after we pause here for word from one of.

Podcast network I'm your host Kevin Hollick as always. I appreciate everybody listening today. This is the fifth segment of today's episode. I know you're thinking to yourself. Hey you usually do these combined segments three and four well. Yeah that's how I prepped it for today's episode but then the Boston Red Sox and that entire scandal came there with conclusion and they released their punishment so I had to throw that in at the top of the episode for everybody here which pushed everything back a segment so no harm where we're going to roll with the punches here at the baseball podcast for everybody out there. I am Kevin Mahalick once again. This is episode number one. Eighty two of the baseball podcast. Hopefully you guys have been listening here for the past couple of weeks and you can follow along with our best of the best segments that were currently running through here last segment. I talked to you guys about each individual team and their top. Three potential teams You know to pick from here with the top the top and now now that I know the number one squad for each of them putting them into a ranking talking about each team and a little bit more detail from five to one. Let's have some fun here. Let's go number five. The two thousand sixteen Cleveland Indians once again. The Indians are just at the bottom based on the fact that they didn't win the world series. And there's nothing else to talk about. You know the razor at the bottom in the east and now the Indians are. This team may have been better than some of these other ones but ultimately get it done losing in seven games to the cubs. A tough break for them here but the the lineup itself very impressive yawn gums behind the dish. Let's see Mike Napoli. Hit and thirty. Four Dinger's one hundred. Rbi Year Jason Kipness Francisco Lin door. Only twenty two years old at this point teves still finding himself. You know you only had fifteen in seventy eight. He did hit three. Oh one but now he's going to be the next guy who's possibly getting that four hundred million three hundred plus million dollars. Bryce Harper Manny Machado. Mike Trout and then Lynn door next up on that list there. Jose Ramirez was only twenty three at this point he only had eleven home runs forum he sends really turned it on and come a player. Rajai Davis Carlos Santana he. He was dropping bombs at age. Thirty ED thirty four eighty seven hidden to fifty nine so a strong club from hitting perspective from the pitching side of things. Corey Kluber eighteen and nine. Two Hundred. Fifteen innings pitched a three one four era. He was the strongest at the top of that rotation Carlos. Carrasco had a really nice year three three two era one hundred forty innings. Trevor Bauer Josh Tomlin Danny Salazar and then looking at the bullpen cody Allen on the back end to five one. Era Sixty eight innings. Dan Otero he had a one five three era kind of an unsung hero in the setup rule for them there Brian Shaw. That's the name that everybody has since you know come to be familiar with so a very good ballclub but just couldn't win that final game against should have if the rain floods didn't open up and they had to reset but that's you know that's the way the cookie crumbles to quote. Bruce Almighty back in the day helped number four is the nineteen ninety one. Minnesota twins they were led by Chili Davis designated hitter. Twenty nine home runs ninety. Three RB is for Chile having a strong year. Hit Two seventy seven As well as Kirby Puckett out in Centerfield everybody knows Kirby. He hit three nineteen that year. Fifteen home runs eighty nine. Rbi's let's see gray. Gonyea Chuck Knoblauch was on that team. I know chuck more from his time for the Yankees but he had twenty five stolen bases hitting to eighty one and only one home run obviously second basement not a big home run guy but Kent Herbeck head. Twenty Dinger's Forum eighty-nine Rbi sin to eighty four. Brian Harper at the top of the line pit and three eleven so strong team for the twins. They're offensively and from a pitching side of things three guys over two hundred innings at the top of the list. You Got Jack Morris. Eighteen and twelve. He was thirty six at this point. Still throw in two hundred and forty six innings again just the amount of innings these guys used to throw is just astronomical compared to today it really is if you had two hundred today. It's like Oh man he's or course. Well these guys were to fifty. What was it? The seventy orioles guy was at like three hundred innings fascinated. Scott Eckerson won twenty games that year looks like as their number three three one eighty or two hundred innings when twenty and eight Kevin Topology sixteen and nine in two hundred and forty four innings. Closer Rick Argue Leira. I think I got that one right. I know I messed up last time. But he was closing forum. The finished sixty games four and five two three five era. It's a good squad for the ninety one twins and again if the twenty nineteen version would've won at all. I would've put them number one. But you gotTa Win The series if you want to be included in my best of the best. That's just a matter of fact so next up in third place. I got the two thousand fifteen. Kansas city royals like. I said this team just there. Were no easy outs offensively. They didn't strike out. That was the biggest thing and now in twenty twenty with the home. Run or strike out or walk philosophy that people are implementing offensively. Go back and watch this team. I think they had. There was a game against the mets. At this time. Maybe it was Matt Harvey where I think. They had to swings and misses the entire game. Even if they were full they were just able to battle things off. Foul pitches off and they didn't have a guy hit over twenty two home runs and yet scored a lot of runs because it was put the ball in play. Make the defense make a play a lot of stolen bases a lot of guys in motion. It was just a fun team to watch play baseball and Salvador Perez behind the dish. Eric Hosmer at first base Omar and Fontenay. Mike Mu Stockists Alex Gordon Lorenzo Kane. Alex Rios all solid if not above average ballplayers Ben Zobrist off the bench. Doing well form. It's just I remember this team. Now that I'm talking about it. I remember watching them going. I would have hated the pitch against these guys because multiple times a pitcher would make a heck of a pitch and they would just spoil it just valid off valid off. Here comes the mistake. Pitch boom double. Everybody go man just fun to watch. But the from the pitching side. Edison Volk was two hundred innings at the top thirteen and nine. I mean look at these wind losses here. Nothing outstanding just solid solid team thirteen and nine thirteen eight eight nine eight seven and eight eleven and six four and seven. Nobody really you know went above and beyond but Chris Young at eleven and six Johnny Cueto Danny Duffy Yordano Ventura. It's like man just fun solid baseball team and then You know the Bullpen Ryan. Manson affiliates guy. Madison was another study at another good year for them to one three Ra. Greg Holland solid can Kelvin Herrera. Way Davis just a really fundamentally sound and really well put together ballclub. Shout out to the general manager who put this together. Because this isn't a team that scares you come regular season. It's really not one night. This team's not going to scare you but if you have to beat this team four out of seven times you couldn't do it and now is the problem. They'd frustrate the heck out of you by the end of it next up. I have the two thousand five Chicago White SOX Again they swept the world series. Aj Brzezinski behind the dish catch inform everybody knows. Aj Solid Ball player. First Baseman POLKA NARCO. He was their big bopper. Forty home runs one hundred. Rbi hitting two eighty three heck of a year from Kinetico Totta Hito Gucci at Second Base. One you re bay. Let's see Scott said Nick? Aaron ruined shoutout. Aaron ruined I love Aaron Rohan because he ran into the fence in Philadelphia. Not long after Forever as a wonderful place in my heart Jermaine Dye Pablo Zunia. Just names man just a salad ballclub led by Kinetico offensively and then moving over to the bump Freddy Garcia. Before Freddie fell off he went fourteen and eight this year in two hundred and twenty eight man. Look at these horses. Four guys over two hundred innings mark. Burleigh everybody remembers lefty mark. Burleigh two hundred and thirty six innings Freddy Garcia to twenty-eight Jon Garland to twenty one and Jose contrary to four all of them one at least fourteen games the bullpen consisted of dust in Hermansen. Closing things out Louise's Viscaya no coming out of the bullpen. Really really good club really solid club and and just their best. In my opinion those guys at the top of their games are slightly better than what the royals would put together but our last team in my best team in the history of the American league central is the Nineteen Eighty-four Tigers. And I'll just looking at it here. Land perished behind the dish. Had Thirty three home runs and ninety eight rbis those are tremendous offensive numbers for catcher. There's no catchers in today's game putting up those type of numbers locally here in Philadelphia jt real mutes will be in the top catcher in the game. He's not hitting thirty three and ninety eight first base. Dave Bergman Second Base Lou Whitaker Alan Trammell at shortstop Howard. Johnson Chet Lemon in the outfield Kirk Gibson. Play in Right Field Forum hitting twenty seven and ninety one hitting two eighty two on the year. A really good club. Go into the the mound. Here Jack Morris. Nineteen wins this year with a three six. Era Two hundred and forty innings. Dan petry Milt Wilcox. Dave Rose Ema. I got down not even GonNa try to pronounce Awan Berenger. I know I messed that one up. So you guys get at me closer Willie Hernandez and then a real Lopez. They must've went back and forth from the bullpen. Because one hundred and forty innings for closer know it's nineteen eighty-four but you guys are GonNa have to let me know however relief guy can throw one hundred and forty innings and then another relief guy throwing one hundred and thirty seven. That's pretty crazy. But the nineteen eighty-four Tigers number. One two thousand and five white sox number two twenty fifteen royals ninety-one twins in two thousand sixteen Indians round out the American league central. So hopefully you guys enjoyed that as much as I did. I always love looking back and seeing again the names and how they performed in these years. And it's it's a ton of fun so let me know if I screw anything up or if you really think. One is way better than the other. We'll talk about it here on the shell but there are APPs up this segment of the GMC baseball podcast brought to you by the GMC podcast network. I'm your skin Molik as always. "With that premise. Is that one unfolded as you as the season went on that sort of noble last chance to tell your story the love of the game. It didn't fully turn out that way in terms of what you produces a book. Write some some dark and not so happy. Sort of thoughts in there too. Well again it comes down to interviewing people and and they saw that I had a genuine interest in their lives and whatever's in. That book is what they told me. It wasn't anything that I dug up. This was all material that they told me as I interviewed him. I interviewed almost every one of these players for an hour hour and a half sometimes two and they were very open and honest and wonderful. Give give give give us. Some of the names of these are some some legendary names of of the seventies and eighties. That were now on this team. Without a doubt. I mean the most valuable player in the league with Steve Henderson. Who had been with the mets? Yeah Yvonne De Hey. Sue was wasn't star player. Tell you about Butch Menton in a minute. Kenny Landreau was our center fielder. We had both racist brothers. Dave racists carry was the first baseman. Dave was the Pitcher We had Steve Camp who is with the Yankees and other teams. Bobby Tolan was her manager. Pat Zachary who had pitched for Texas a wonderful guy who became a good friend. Lamar Johnson Dick Bosman. Who had pitched a no hitter for the Oakland A.'s? The Washington Senators Randy Lerch who was Philadelphia Philly for a while One of our catches was dwight. Lowery Milt Wilcox who was a fabulous pitcher for the Detroit Tigers Dock Ellis. Of course Roy how who was a star? Third Baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays John Matlock. It was a star for. That's been start for the mets catcher. We had Ozzie Virgil junior as well. We It turned out that. Tolan Bobby Tolan. Who was wonderful. Wonderful Manager. What he wanted to do was win. See there were other teams. For instance the Winter Haven Super Sox The owner of winter haven decided that what he wanted to do was collect old boss and red sox players winter haven had always been the red sock Spring training place so he thought if he got all red sox they withdraw a lot of fans that way. The problem is a lot of those Boston. Red sox players were too old so they really couldn't compete against the young guys that The the Saint Pete Pelicans in the West Palm Beach Tropics had the same thing with the mets team. The mets team was in Saint Lucie They had a lot of mets. But some of those mets players were fifty fifty years old and they just they just couldn't play toll wanted talent. He young talent and he talk. Ls accumulated this young talent and You know put together quite a terrific team including by the way I key. Red Sox player Jim Rice. The second year the second year the second year they had rice and the shame of it. The shame of it was in the middle of the second year on Christmas Day. The League folded In the first year at the end of the season towards the end of the season the owner of the Orlando team disappeared. He had stolen thirteen million dollars from the Detroit mob and he disappeared which put a financial burden on the rest of the team. And then the second year. I guess it was Christmas Day. The team from Fort Myers had two owners one of the owners. They're very wealthy family from Delaware. Not The Dupont. Yes Yeah Dupont. One of them was Dupont. And the other one was a coke addict and Dupont. Yeah well he discovered that the other guy was putting cocoa as no is costing them a lot of money and at that point. He said I'm done. I quit and at the point. He said that the League could not survive and it was over which was a damn shame because it was wonderful The problem that they had at least the way I understood it was that with eight teams in Florida. You apparently couldn't get national. Sponsors was because it was only played in one state was only played in Florida so the second year they decided to move one of the teams to California and move one of the other teams to Arizona to make national team so that they could get More national sponsors. But unfortunately you know once the Once that that Fort Myers team folded airfare was too expensive and the whole thing just collapsed. Which was a shame because the league was wonderful. It really was it was it was better than AAA quality baseball. And the other thing. That was so wonderful about it. As it gave these guys the opportunity to resume the life that they loved so much but it also came with and as you elegantly recount. It in this book you it it also comes with some really You know understanding of what one sacrifices for the love of the game frankly for extending one's career right arguably not at the same sort of level of of of adoration nor certainly compensation there are sacrifices that come with that right and and to continue versus say moving on with your life per se or you know or extending one's a career in the twilight. I mean for every you know wonderful moment or two I got think there was also a bit of wistfulness and frankly the body's not necessarily keeping up with the demands of the game. Either right well because everybody was playing under the same rules which is to say you had to be older than thirty five Some people the younger ones especially did very very well If you're fifty years old You were not going to do very well. And you're not GonNa last very long and some of these team owners discovered that very quickly that this you know I I had the sense with the Red Sox for instance They they made Bill lead the manager at least for the first week you know and and he was pitching and he was playing a little right field. News fooling around with the lineup. Well the Saint Pete. Pelicans were dead serious about winning games. I mean dead serious and very quickly all those you know team owners who thought that this was a lark very quickly figured out that this wasn't a Lark. This was serious baseball and that was neat to see it was. I mean. Professional baseball players are very very interesting. People not only physically of course but psychologically as well. You've gotta be tough son of a gun to be able to play a major league in the Major Leagues. Very very special people ended up in the major leagues. Well how did how did all those players feel sort of rekindling that I mean? Did they feel like this is sort of major league junior or you know? Oh okay not at all. No no this was this was I mean. This was the best that they could do. This was this. Was you know back to playing against other major leaguers again? This was a big deal and they just had a wonderful wonderful time doing it. They were thrilled to be able to do it. Mean as you saw in the book there were a couple of guys who had problems emotionally. A couple of them had drug problems. You know the certain things in your lives that you just can't control but I mean it's interesting if you watch major major leaguers you so a fellow yesterday. I can't remember what team he was from but he's suspended for eighty games for taking steroids. I mean certain guys. Just get in trouble and we had guys like that to give me a sense of of sort of the day to day right. So you're traveling across Florida. I'm guessing a lot of bus. Travel and accommodations be not being the highest level and frankly having fans and how many fans and what we're hearing in the game in the stadiums and whatnot. I mean 'cause this is no doubt a curiosity as much as it is an extension of being able to play baseball at a pro level but as the season went along it was four. Months is a season and went along. The the interest built built We were taking the best best buses available. We were saying in the best hotels available on the road. This was not a nickel and dime operation. And some of these guys were getting you know very good money at least the first year they were but more than the money it was the opportunity to compete against the major leagues again and in. Saint Petersburg we were. I don't know I think we're averaging eight hundred nine hundred people a game something like that and as the season went along as as I was the Radio Guy. I was one of the two radio guys. Jack Weirs who had been the play by play by play broadcaster for the Baltimore Orioles He was paid. Do the play by play and I was so grateful just to have the opportunity to be with these guys During the Games I was the color commentator on the radio shows and from Seven o'clock to eight o'clock at night on the radio. We had the highest rated show in all Tampa Bay. We had a lot of Lois and The fans loves it. Just it and I'm sure That was true in the other in the other towns as well. You know there was some very very you know if the temperature was right and if it was a weekend for instance we got very good crowds. Give me a sense though of of the finances and the because I I can't imagine it was it was simply the Orlando owner situation. That sort of imploded. The old thing I mean you're mentioning well expansion and all that kind of stuff I revenues. And when did you sort of see that this might not necessarily last for a long period of time or did you not even sense that as you were sort of focusing on this story and this team I was whacked on the head with a with a with an or the same as all the players on the day? They announced that the thing was folding. We had no idea no clue no clue at all. It was out of the blue. Hey what's terrible interests and no no real sense of it right. I mean the fact that they were no no no no. Don't forget all the owners of all these things are very wealthy man. I mean look at John Henry John. Henry's billionaire right now. He was the owner of the West Palm Beach Tropics. She the one thing. The one thing Jim Morley didn't want to do more than I became closer we we. We talked a lot too. He was afraid that if he got too rich and ownership that if four or five of them got together they could somehow take the league away from him because he was not wealthy he didn't have to pay for his franchise. He had enough money to run it but he was not as wealthy as some of the other guys who who are involved in fact he had sold a piece of his team at the end of the first year to Fella from Texas. But they didn't have enough money to last once the Orlando Guy went under and the Fort Myers Guy. Quit just couldn't see to go from there. I don't know the details of it. I just was with the players. You know like everybody else. When the announcement came no game today everybody go home? Give me give me a sense of what the players felt when that happened. They felt the same thing. I felt it was it was. It was a stunning stunning announcement. It's like what you know. And and at that point what are you GonNa do? There's nothing you can do. I believe they gave the players the money to fly home. Well in some respect though it also. It's it settled wack by like two by four order. The head that that that really is a reality check because all of a sudden this potential extension of one's career in this senior league is gone and literally not coming back. I gotta try devastating players especially those who knew nothing more than the sport of baseball for most of their adult lives. Well it's it's it's interesting. The Tampa Bay rays had a twentieth anniversary reunion at the trump where they invited all of us back and we were just so thrilled to see each other. You know some of them had become coaches. Dick Bosman had become a coach with the rays pitching coach. Some of the others had become coaches. We had a catcher by the name of Butch Benton who had been number one draft choice of the New York mets And he had gotten hurt and never ever made it to the mets. But here's this kid. He was still you know just thirty five years old. He wasn't very old. He was spectacular. He was a star and after the season was over he got an opportunity to catch with the Chicago cubs on trip in AAA but unfortunately major league baseball didn't embrace the senior League They had made the mistake of making curt flood. The commissioner and curt flood of course was the guy who sued baseball so it seemed to me with no. I have no proof but it just seemed to me that Major League Baseball decided none of these guys who played in the senior league will ever play in the majors. Even though some of them deserve to.

Majlis favourite. Former tiger not only just former, but the nineteen Eighty-four world championship pitcher there is in town, along with the one not the rest, but many of the nineteen Eighty-four Detroit tiger members of that world championship team. They were honored before the game yesterday. And Miley said, we got to track down, he's got to be in town. And lo and behold, he'll be along later this hour to talk about among other things. The, the most memorable moment, or moments from nineteen Eighty-four. So he'll the on the air with us later on this morning, and then we'll talk about his dog jumping off docs into swimming pools, that Miley would never do in a million years. Remember Andy Dirceu earlier in the decade? Yeah. He was going to be pretty good. But he had that problem that ended his career thorough. Remember Johnny casino of twins. I think was a seventy nine rookie of the year. That's what happened to him the third baseman. Yeah. Oh, by the way is James Drury still alive. Who the heck is James at Virginian humor and the western oh, I don't I never watched it Virginian much. Yeah. Well, if he's still alive he would have been eighty field. He'll eighty five on Thursday. "Canada like at eleven o'clock in the sky, and that's very important. Let me check here. Danielle. Did you take a look at the moon? Did you look around as you get up and get going this morning on this Sunday? Now forgot to love. You didn't see the moon out there almost full? What about you, Eric? Did you see the moon? It was so bright out of his casting shadows. No. I was just focused on guessing. Yeah. I was looking straight ahead that was about it. Yeah. But getting to the vehicle you should have taken a peak. But anyway, it's very important because we're getting ready for and if you go onto the Warren Pierce show Facebook page, and we please suggests that you do that because this is the only radio program on the planet. I don't know if they've said this before that has pictures accompanying our conversations and the and the items that we're talking about the guest we'd been would be speaking with between now and eight o'clock, so take a peek if you can out there at the moon because it's just a little hint as to what will happen tonight. And you notice the first picture that I post for those who've you to go to the Warren Pierce show Facebook page and push like you'll see the blood moon. All right. That's one three names that it will be given tonight, and you're you're gonna have to bundle up. It's very important. This is like history it'll happen again in a few years, or so, but there are three names being given to this the lunar eclipse, and we'll have our. Our resident astronomer on the tell you where to go. In fact, it might be warm where he's suggesting you go because he's going to open the doors to his place out there in Bloomfield hills and let you look through his telescope. But anyway, so you've got the blood moon. It's called the blood moon, it'll begin to unfold after ten tonight, and then fully taking place. I dunno our two or three late or something like that. But we'll find out when we tell them. So it's called the lunar eclipse the blood moon, and it's called the wolf moon. The wolf moon. So will you be up and watching that then you'll you're going to set your clock? It's very important. No, yes. No. I really am. Yeah. Anything with the sky. I look at all right? And Eric were you even aware that there was going to be a lunar eclipse tonight? I was not I didn't know there's anything but football tonight. Yeah. That's all. I know. Well, the football game will be over by the time it starts than I set. My offset my alarm. Yeah. Because that the last game starts at what six forty so you're talking three hours. Yeah. It will. It'll definitely be over and Kansas City will have beaten New England by not they won't though. That's that's not going to have another. Sorry. We'll we'll we'll see about that. And so anyway, make sure you're all making a note to is set your watchers or your class or your friends to be up and looking at that, the three different names. And we'll find out why the Wyatt is going to be read at one point. All right. So we got that on our warranty or show Facebook page, so you take a peek at the pictures, and they'll be. Others you'll be put diagrams in there too. As to why it's going to be so close to the earth in it'll seem even bigger than it does right now. And then I I posted the picture of the dog. There's a dog over there because this is the last day of the twenty thousand nine hundred winter dog classic. And it's really one of the best that you'll see in Michigan. Certainly there are more dogs attending a since it opened last Thursday seven thousand dogs are competing. Not only do they have the competition. So this'll be a spot for you in the family to stop through the course of the day as well. But they've got the, you know, the confirmation judging about what a month before the biggest dog show on the plan that pretty much the Westminster kennel club dog show in New York at Madison Square Garden takes place next month. So they they've got confirmation. Judging some of these dogs will be headed to New York as a result of how they do over there at the suburban showcase place. All right. So you've got that going the agility trials don't forget you got. My friend over there. Milt Wilcox jumping his dogs into the pool off the the runway there maybe twenty thirty feet into the air that in to the what did he say yesterday? Deep five feet six feet deep something. Anyway, there's a lot of things going on the dock diving the dog hurting demonstrations the agility trials, and you can take your dog you can bring your own dog and and walk through the show as well. So heap that in mind, it's going on over there in Novi through what probably five o'clock this afternoon. So that's why the dog is posted there to remind you of that. And then I put in because this is the second day of the North American International auto show. I put some old pictures and do some reminiscent of what Cobo used to look like years ago when they would put the vehicles in there, you are you looking at Edad Danielle see that old Cobo hall in the car is down there with the big fins that looks like a Lincoln to me on the lower left my favorite. Yeah. All right. So you got that there. And then here's a reminder to put in this old Beatle. What was your? Here's our question of the day to what was your first car? I car you. Remember what we? You're a millennial. What was your first gave you probably still have it? I don't know. No, no, no. We had to get rid of. It was the ninety eight Ford Escort sport in black Ford. Escort ninety eight Ford Escort. I got you down for that. And I had a some sort of car that was a Renault, and it had it was just like a bubble kind of thing and it had a standard shift. But no clutch. Always remember that you could shift gears, but you didn't have to push down the clutch. I don't know how they did that. So the mine was this Reynaud, no clutch shifting car. And what about you Erick? Your first car was a nineteen eighty nine mercury cougar that was Plum purple. Wow. So that stood out. Everybody knew about that car. Mercury. What was it called cougar cougar and the windows fell down you had to hold the windy full the windows back up because they would just fall down out of nowhere. I so. Yeah, I posted the speaker. I saw the Beadle over there that was. One of the first there this black beetle that I posted. And here's this the the newest one and the last one it's a Volkswagen beetle convertible, they stop their stop Volkswagens not gonna make them anymore. Did you know that they're stopping manufacturing? I think I heard something about it. So that's why the the beetle is on there and some other pictures as well, including what was your first vehicle. So we got that going, and you think about that. And we'll remember to ask all our guests between now and eight o'clock what their first vehicle was. And then of course, I have to always bring you up to date. On Saturday Night Live after what twenty seven twenty eight days almost the same number of days. The government has been partially shut down that Saturday Night Live took their winter break and they were back on last night. Did you check that out air to see what was going on SNL? No. I was in bed. Really, what time do you? Go to bed last night about nine th I were I've worked every other shift though, they worked me I went to bed. Yeah. So you're far better off than the eight hundred thousand government employees. And and what about you Danielle? Did you stay up for Saturday Night Live now, but I should have because I know who's hosting. That's right. But before we get to the hostess the, and they must have written the the opening skit is usually pretty contemporary. It's really what's going on. But they've worked at through. The course of the week to lead up to eleven thirty on NBC last night. But anyway, this one dealt with what was going on with the president's announcement yesterday. The the president what late in the afternoon Cam on from the White House and said, okay, this is what I need. And this is what I'll give you. So that I can have the wall built, however long it's gonna be or whenever you want to call it a fence. And so he was giving out the numbers. It was still over five. But this was yesterday afternoon, right? That he was appearing on TV for a few minutes to talk about how to get this government working again. And so they what they did is has anyone out there, you you probably have seen the used to be on NBC. And now it's on one of the NBC cable channels called deal or no deal. Is anyone see that Howie Mandel guy? Yeah. Howie Mandel hosted it now it's on one of the cable Eric do you ever? See I. Yeah. Have you or no deal where the contestant is standing there? And then they've got all these women in the background on. Platform platform have something like that. And they're holding briefcases and inside is some sort of deal. So they they were doing the takeoff. And instead of Howie Mandel they put in Steve Harvey the Steve Harvey lookalike on Saturday Night Live the deal. And of course, the person making the deal was you know, who. All right. So we decided to do this in the only format that you can understand TV game.
