great jeans want find your perfect perfect pair the cut is giving away a thousand dollar made well gift card to one lucky winner go to the cut dot com slash made well enter in for official rules from and gimblett media this is the cut on tuesdays i'm your host molly fisher wow wow oh when i was a kid like scholastic book fair age i remember being irresistibly fascinated by lurlene mcdaniel too many young adult author who wrote books at all had titles like too young to die sixteen in dying she died too young six months till iv time to let go and letting go of lisa they were about teens with deadly medical conditions a specially cancer which makes them part of a long literary tradition innocent young person stricken with cancer isn't in during storyline you see it from love story the nineteen seventy best selling it became a hit movie up through the fault and are stars the the twenty twelve bestseller the became a hit movie i think the reason cancer make such a popular plot is that it's so totally on ambiguous cancer is bad it's a villain doesn't raise questions of motivation or blame especially when you're talking about a kid with cancer it's just terrifying sad and unfair so it's a tragedy but the power to bring people together everybody's on the same team in a cancer story dandy cancer team it's scary painful but in a certain sense it's simple henna combs is a twenty three year old and trump but ohio and she has a cancer story it's been part of her life for almost as long as she can remember in her case though things weren't so simple in fact she still doesn't understand everything that happened to her but recently she got a chance to talk to someone who could help her figure it out in a film in a writer the cut is there to see what happened we are nancy's house it's adorable she's at the door ready she's really excited oh my gosh this is weird nancy and hannah haven't seen each other for seventeen years the last time they were together in the seven year old nancy was trying to help her through a really difficult time in her life my name is nancy franklin and dream the case with hannah i will see elementary school counselor at north elementary how'd you ever counseled a sick kid before 'em not with cancer no 'em we had a couple of diabetics nancy lays out a stack of manila folders on the dining room table they're filled with no she took about how hannah was doing copies of medical notes sent in by hand his mom and drawings handed in therapy i asked you to do a family drawing and then you said well about what and i said well what's something that has happened she recently that you could draw about and that's when you said the day we found out i cancer oh vassar teacher about okay so there's me in this little looks like in orange dress with extremely small hague's nine both my hair it's a very cute both a and it's like me and my dad's in the middle and my mother in and were all like sad in crying hanner members the moment her identity shifted from regular kids sick kids i've been playing outside with a friend and i remember actually we were playing hopscotch i show the getting a headache in a sore throat and remember looking for my mom and she said she would call and make a doctor's appointment for the next that they went to the doctor for a checkup after they appointment her mother's demeanor changed hannah remembers her mom theresa frantically calling people when they got home crowd was gathered in the living room she explained that you know they found a a very small mass and they thought that it was eight a cancerous cancerous tumor my mom kept talking and my dad was like let's go play a game like picked me up and took me into my room and he pulled out a board game and you could tell he's like fighting back tears and i remember asking him like what's going on dad like i don't understand understand what's going on and why is everybody upset and he said to me like i think very sick 'em and he tried to explain to me what the word cancer meant soon after nancy started meeting with hannah mom met with me she wanted to she wanted me to speak with you about just the whole process and if what questions you might have had regarding cancer homers in that type of thing from that point on hand his mom theresa kicked into high gear hannah siblings were much older and were out of the house most of the time so theresa had plenty of time spent with hannah she was able to develop a hundred percent of her attention taking care of her sick kid and she slipped easily into the role of cancer mom doing the things you do when you're trying to make the best of an awful situation like buying hannah special week to cover her bald head it reminded me of the old he original any movie yeah kind of early in short i always want had red hair so yeah they got the red wig theresa kept the bucks medical mass in the center console of her van she never let him leave the house without one she made me wear them constantly to avoid getting any germs are anything from anybody else i hated wearing those things so much like as and then like to be looked at an i mean everybody's already staring at me anyways and that just like emphasized it all the time and also they were uncomfortable they pulled on my ears 'cause i dormer on my ears and then when you breathe through them and like the constitution tation from you're breath would get like you know damp and they would like be soggy engrossed in terrible so they were just uncomfortable in embarrassing at church people were spread the bad news to each other son had been diagnosed with central nervous system tumors unless you is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation the town sprung into action few things could bring people together like a sick child when you living a small community especially in this region everybody gets behind that person they had fundraiser after fundraiser after fundraiser to raise money for the treatment the cost of the treatment the school they had a hot day for you have for him today yeah i always warhead hot so they get everybody to make me feel like i'm assuming special my hat in so they all warheads i remember the community with a hundred percent behind her in the school wants to every elementary school did something on his two sons terrible but like there were parts of it that like had its perks i remember i have my own snacks at school i love that those great is all these other kids were jealous of my sex in i could just said and feel good and i would get to leave school because what kid really enjoys going school being sick suddenly became the most important thing about hannah everyone in their small ohio community new hannah's name theresa put a nation cans all over town big empty soup cans with hannah's pitcher on them and signs asking people to chip in dig into their pockets and help pay medical bills everywhere it when they were there they were at the bank the grocery store or they seem to like be everywhere what did it feel like to see her face like in all the places that you you know you go as a kid is overwhelming and it was kind of like it kind of made me sad in a way i think like this is basically how everyone perceives me you know it was this is really this isn't really me i'm not just a sick kid on this soup can i more than that after the summer word came out of prognosis had gotten worse i've had his mom written a letter to the local newspaper had also been diagnosed with eight l l a form of leukemia and the tumor on her brain stem what's causing seizures i don't know how long hanneke and continue to fight she wrote starting to think of herself as someone who might die my dad would always always comfort me with the thoughts of if you are to pass away like you're going to have an in heaven beautiful in you know my dad kind of painted the heaven picture for me and so i feel like yeah heaven was like super awesome but the thought of it was basically thinking i could like look through a window and still see my family but they couldn't talk to me and i think that's what like scared me i mean you and i were speaking on a regular basis that it's tuesdays and thursdays end we were just talking and you were getting more upset with what was happening and that's when you have more questions about what is it feel like to die 'em am i gonna be in pain am i going to know when it's happening you had very detailed questions and then there was one day hey i thought okay it's time i'm gonna call make a wish it was december theft at ten o'clock i made the phone call to columbus children's an i spoke to the hr person who's in charge of connecting children with make a wish because that's where we're mumps and you were being treated so i called them and she said oh just a minute out check so she's going through and she's putting me on hold and i'm listening to wonderful music and after about three or four minutes i thought when this is a long time she came back to me she said well the last name against me spell that for me and i even gave her to doctors names that you're mother had given us and she said ma'am we don't have anybody in art patient base with that name nor do we have doctors with those last names on campus i froze literally froze so then i on the phone and i thought okay nancy get it together that's called dating children's just to make sure maybe you might have been wrong right yeah i was just going through everything dotting every i so i called dating children's went through the same thing and they said no ma'am no patient here at that time okay i just wanna to make a referral but thank you a hung up the phone member genie evans sinners school nurse oh this is evan or mrs for spock no okay they were the school nurses at the time pretty good on the steps of the come upstairs in my office and they came up and i tell them what i had just found out in mrs evans just kind of froze sort of mrs ford bach and were like okay what do we do now nancy and mrs evans and mrs ford bark started working backwards pouring over everything has mother said about her illness restarted just looking at different notes mother had given like comparing comparing handwriting comparing a doctor signatures that's when a lot of peace assorted commonplace the puzzle the skinny more complete after the break nancy finishes putting the pieces together this episode of the cut on tuesdays is brought to you by oh my god dot info constipation abdominal pain bloating you tell yourself it's not that bad maybe bombshell surprises that's been their post divorce live completely unexpected directions tune in sundays at ten pm on h b o r welcome back to the cut on tuesdays is before the break nancy had been counseling hannah for months about her cancer diagnosis but when she called the hospital they had no recor the patient with that name nancy went back to look at the note she'd gotten notes supposedly from hannah's doctors i mean this is on pediatric associates stationary so she had to take this from their office oh my gosh yes she had a ticket from the office stole this from a hospital went ahead and forge the doctor signature it has story starting to sound familiar it's probably because you've seen something like it on tv or movies hannah wasn't a kid with cancer she was a kid whose mom what people think she had cancer handled as a victim of munchausen by proxy see it's when a caregiver invents and illness and someone they're looking after sometimes they actually make them sick sometimes they just pretend they are any overwhelming majority of cases it takes place between a mother and child and women who engage in munchausen by proxy abuse these are generally skilled liars austin they have training in the medical field his mom dead she'd worked as a nurse is assistant this long before shows like react and sharp objects would turn munchausen by proxy into one of pop culture is favorite disorders nancy dancing had no clue what you is dealing with i was asking you more detailed questions and i would ask you what is the hospital look like you said that you would never saw nurse mom would give me a blue pills so would sleep than we would go for chemo or radiation end i would wake up and i would be on the sofa at home i said oh i said when you get you keep how i said you should have like a little hole someplace you know that date a port sports car port and you knew the terminology i mean she grew you've extremely well all bandaged up all covered up and i said and i see that i said how much you did teach me something stinks port looks like i've never seen one before so so at that point i add mrs ford spot with me yeah nurse had another person seeing all this so you know you had on like a a swing top of some sort in the fall still pretty pretty warm out and we just had to pull it down low bit and this is for spike removed a bandage there was nothing there is no port i've been very frozen i just couldn't talk a little bit i thought okay where did i miss this how stupid of me not just see this happening should i have asked more indepth questions early on it's hard to see why nancy what blamed herself but when someone tells you a kid has cancer it's not the kind of thing you tend to fact check an i didn't think the question at either how she spoke snow a cancer felt like did you ever ashley feel as will paint know in the beginning i remember thinking like i don't feel like i'm sick but i'm being told that i am so something must be wrong and but i do remember 'em once the medications at shoes giving me became more frequent i remember feeling 'em more less not sick which is like very out of it like i remember feeling weak in tired end by sluggish and those types of things hannah's memories of that timer kid memories dominated by stuff it would be important to a seven year old we used to go to the ice cream plays like a small dairy queen i liked going there because we would go there every sunday after church those very like a familiar place for me so we were sitting in the parking lot at the dairy queen end she went and got me my favorite like slushy which was the scrape slushing great an i remember she told me that a because i was so afraid of the doctor a that she's gonna give me this medicine that would help me get through it i would just sleep through the doctor's appointment and then when i woke up she would tell me everything that happened sometime she would talk about how big like the tumor tumor was or if they were gonna give me new medicine or you know some time she would just keep it short and simple and just be like you had a really good job and the doctor said the you know you have to come back in a couple of weeks in check you do you ever actually remember being in a doctor's office oh no i know that's because there was no doctor's office and there were no checkups animals dragging her daughter and then driving her around till she woke up it was seven years old and this is happening easy detroit with a slushy in a sleeping pill what about the other grown up in her life what about her dad did you ask at that point if you could come with two unemployment oh yes mojos many times this is hannah father bought nailed that if i was scheduled to go say wasn't afternoon i would say okay i'm gonna leave work and then i'll i'll i'll meet you she would call me fifteen minutes before and say they cancelled absolute or so many different scenarios it's actually a pretty common dynamic in munchausen by proxy cases you have a mom who comes across his totally dedicated to her kid who checks alvis super mom boxes and a dad who's kind of checked out we were married for almost ten years and i'd never had any reason to doubt you know she always had an answer to any question that i had she took care of all of our finance is did you ever see any many doctors bells no when i grew up you know when you are the provider and they handle the taking care of the kids and find answers and everything when you're not there so let's let's one job but i never adorable handles mom theresa paid attention to almost every detail she had props to dress her daughter in baggy closed to make her look small and week she covered her mouth with those soggy surgical masks she shaved his head ed and told her that her hair would fought soon anyway from chemotherapy and she told her not to let anyone touch the bandits on her back bandage as it were supposed to cover her port who turner's could use to give her chemo there was supposed to be a home health nurse come and administered habits medication woman with a bath calder well and i asked my wife about her and in several times command meter her when she gonna be at the house i would like the meter well the next day when i came home from work of stethoscope laying in my driveway and truces home that must have been buffs have you ever thought there might not be someone called back like given the fact that you never see i i hadn't because they actually talked about her i would ask her questions come home and hannah would tell me i'm like okay you know i mean if you're telling me that it you know i believe it i remember like i can't sit here in picture a person in my head like i could make her up until you like she had you know she was younger and she had short brown hair and she wore like typical nurse scribes of course there had never been a home health nurse it was just a story that her mom told her but even now the hannah knows this she still has memories of beth a kind of made me feel crazy i kind of remember thinking like man i really thought this person's real like i couldn't close my eyes and picture this woman like in a kind of made me feel like i did i create this person it was it was a lot of like chaos in my head for awhile munchausen by proxy survivors often have problems with something called reality testing basically knowing what's real after all are parents who are first narrators the people who make sense of the world for us they charter upbringings and photo albums and keep are medical histories and files they help us understand who we are until were old enough to tell her stories she's on her own what happens when the story they tell isn't true nancy was the first person to realize that the story wasn't true she met with children's services to tell them what you discovered and then she just had to wait the police investigators were putting together all their information it took them a while to get all the pieces to the puzzle that they had have in place before they press charges so mom continued to you know take money from from people throughout town you were watching it all happened yeah and i just had a sit there and be clinic and say anything and i couldn't tell you you're not dying and say those words instead it was only after the police showed up at her house that had found out the truth she didn't have cancer she never had and she barely had time to comprehend that piece of news before she got hit with another blow she's being taken away from her family at are home delivered strangers could you describe scribe what happened when hannah was taken into foster care yeah oh they had let's go down to the police department with hannah in and they brought a lady out there that they introduced tillis who who she was and that they felt that 'em at this point in time parents should be in foster care until the legal system get this all straightened out in a so then they took care of the nets guardrail and just filtered watched an icon onto my dad and i were screaming and crying and begging them not take me and he was crying and he kept telling me like it's gonna be okay like this isn't gonna be forever i promise i will come get you and everything will be fine she was screaming she did not let it go she was monitored daddy and i just kept telling her it'll be alright holding a hug a good just someone who just extremely pissed off about or what should though and by the time it was all over the town of raised thousands of dollars to pay hannah's non existent medical bills they throwing spaghetti dinners and have her hannah days k's and put whatever change they could spare entertain cans panhandles face news reports from the time say they raised around thirty one thousand dollars the community couldn't accept the bob didn't know what was going on with his wife neither could the legal system theresa went to princeton how did he might have legal outcome was i spent four years and eleven months in ohio state prison for a child endangerment do you feel that you dead fancy protect her personally yes i do feel like that failed protector i neglected to figure out what happened with my wife do you ever look back now and think like how could i have not seen this done this a foot of course of course i mean there's so many things were obvious buddy even even my own family my side of the family in some of the people in the church later on we talked about it then it was it's like she was good she was good at deceiving you but a lot of those people who consult bob at first pretty soon they were backing away from him from the whole mess once the police department got involved in the church just they scattered late in order to do with it so i had no support after hannah was taken into foster care everything that you've known about herself and how do we exist in the world and how to get what she needed who's gone when she first arrived in her foster families house she tried to apply the rules of her old world to her new one i remember saying like oh i don't feel good because when i was in school if i said in gilgen that's how i got to go home so that was my ticket like all right if i told this lady i don't feel good she'll send me home and she like didn't obviously eventually handle went with her dad's sister in pennsylvania who's completely cut off from the community she grew up in hannah talks about the time after she was separated from her parents of the hardest of her life overnight she went from being the cancer kid being the kid without a family and she went from being the center of attention being completely alone one of the hardest things about munchausen child and by proxy cases is being saved like hannah was generally means being taken away from the person you trust it the most positive had really been a cancer survivor there would have been support groups and colorful ribbons and fundraising walks but there was none of that i felt alone like that was like the one time my life i've seen it could honestly say they felt the true definition of pure loneliness like i didn't have anyone who understood me or cared about or loved me in iowa's just sad hannah's church her family friends were school friends teachers they were gone from her life it seemed like her whole world disappeared overnight she didn't realize it through the home nightmare of foster care nancy had been calling trying a checkup on her children's services by law have to keep everything confidential and how often do you think about hannah's story a lot it's been seventeen years is probably once a week nancy he told hannah that she in the to nurses from elementary school caller text each other every december fifth anniversary of the day they discover the truth hannah couldn't believe the other people cared so much about what she thought had been her burden to bear alone in fact until this conversation hannah didn't even realize nancy was the one who uncovered her mom's lies the whole time handle is telling her story i've been struck by how stoic she was but watching her in this moment it was like i could see that little kid and the counselor's office desperate for a grownup patellar everything's gonna be okay to think like that you were the person sorry that like took this so seriously in cared so in devon taught me in different ways but also so that you were the person to tell somebody and get me out of that situation although going in the foster care and all those things were all full like i want to like personally just like tell you thank you for like really looking into that in caring about wanting me to be better and have a better life like really touches my heart like a lot you yeah there there's oftentimes i think what what if i didn't do the make a wish what if i would not have called to do the make a wish lettuce crossed my mind i can't tell you how many times in twenty thirteen hannah moved back to the part of southern ohio where she grew grow up it was a place it had been quarantined in her memories she says the move was part of an attempt to free herself from the drama of her childhood and write her own story in adult through a phone call with producer sam mcvie hannah's mother teresa mill branch said she didn't wish to be interviewed the story in their brief conversation she said she's been living with what she did for fifteen years and then she feels regret every single day she also believes it her daughter is keeping the story in the media to hurt her theresa characterize what she did as a result of mental illness while it's true that munchausen by proxy is lifted in the dsm under the name tacticians disorder imposed on another there's been a lot of dispute about whether it truly is a mental illness in addition to being a form of child abuse most experts believe it's but the wall people would munchausen by proxy are mentally ill that shouldn't be considered a legal defense for what they do now hannah's twentythree years old last year she got married and now she's seven months pregnant she's looking forward to becoming a mom a totally different kind of mom and the one who raised her and she says she's got her own toxic mother will have no involvement in her son's life and yet since she moved back to ohio hannah's seen her mom everywhere this isn't a figure of speech her mom's out of prison now and they run into each other on the street in the grocery checkout line it's like something out of dream logic a few years ago her mother came by the restaurant where hannah worked in after speak to her hand i told her to leave she said she didn't wanna see her but they're still orbiting each other unable to escape each other's magnetic pole there'll be in the grocery store and i'll see her walk past the same laying it out just like turn my carter on and go the other way and i'm in seer like a couple of weeks ago i was in big lots of those ways my sister morgan in my husband and we walked in i was so focused on my nieces 'cause they doing something cute and i was just so focused on them and my sister kept turning around and looking at me and i'm like why are you looking at like what is happening and she said did you see who we walked past and i was like no but when i turned around i saw her back and i was like oh my gosh it's like i don't even recognize her at this point like at this point like she's just like a stranger hannah isn't the only victim of her mother's deceptions when the truth was uncovered everyone in the community who'd lent their money or support hannah realized they had been duped munchausen expose their deepest vulnerabilities plays on her best impulses all truism tros sympathy care for others when people find out they've been betrayed many of them swin heart in the other direction it can tear families and communities apart it was such a random act of human terrorism women what did you see happened in the community after that 'em there were people that were in disbelief he's a that it was even a true story there were people that would probably if you could still go after somebody as they did in ancient times you had people that were ready to do that 'em we were we were upset we were hurt we were crushed whatever description you wanna put on a m but it was really hard for the community comeback in in a trust again people who were deceived by munchausen cases alton beat themselves up for believing the life by telling themselves don't never be played for a fool again let's say alternative turning a cold shoulder to the kid with cancer on the rare chance her mother is a master of deception trading you're empathy for cynicism the freaky thing about a case it's like hannah's is that it makes this question everything that's best in are selves nancy says from that day on she approached her work in a whole new light bottom line unless i see a document by authorization in agencies i don't i don't believe a word they say and that's sounds very cold but i'm not it's not true until i see it ten imprint i feel like i have always had very good gut feelings Let me write it down Willie Nelson Start in the nineteen eighty movie honeysuckle rose for which this was written. The movie was not a big success. So my friend got a gift from her husband. And it's a fashion blaster which is a tool that helps get rid of cellulite and it was legit a president president and so she's like thinking for much. Okay so I don't know I mean I know it's a fine line of like getting a significant others a gym membership or a vacuum or whatever so it's like okay. Well that's the way I've definitely never heard of before. A girl is buying a fashion blaster or something to get rid of satellites normally buying it for herself. Not so your question is appropriate gift or Nah and we're sure it's only used for cellular. I'm Hi yes. It's called a fashion blast. You can google it. It's like it's this crazy concur tool and you rub it all over your body and it kind of gives you bruises but people say if you do use it and use it consistently can actually help smooth out the skin. But she was like okay. He's thought she would like it birthday. Yeah okay appropriate. Gift or non from your husband honor. Thank you anybody. I'M GONNA go with as you're only gift was a gift. They're pretty expensive. I'm going to go as the only gift I'm GonNa go. Nah You can sprinkle it with something else and that's okay. Yes here's here's a cellulite. Well I think you could go. Hey I I don't know what she needs right. Here's an iphone own. Here's a pair of the ear. Buds apple ear buds. The new ones that came out. Here's this dress and on top of that and I also since you've been talking about it I also also got you this fashion blaster since I know you've wanted it I think if you're GonNa get it that's how you get it so my answer has Nah not appropriate Korea gift by itself. It's an appropriate gift w give it to any other point not her birthday birthday supposed to be celebrated in almost like a gift. That's extra it's fun. It's it's like the gift shouldn't be something that's super practical. That's why I'm Goin'. Nah You have you say. Nah just because I don't want my husband giving me something where I mean cellulite one. It's like it doesn't matter you can't like work it out or work it off. There's no I know for sure for sure. Proof that these tools work. I mean some people say that they do. But it's like Kinda just like this is me. This is my body if I have it I kind of have it. There's nothing I can really do about it so it would make me feel self conscious that he thinks that I need to get rid of it but if you've been asking for it I don't see it in your browser history okay. I don't if it's coming coming out of nowhere as a non Jew Nah but I would just assume that it came from somewhere. Okay maybe I guess if it's because it's expensive in you don't can't justify buying it yourself and he decides to treat you with it. Okay maybe it costs one hundred twenty five dollars for a tool the run up and down your leg probably ask for but okay appropriate or not much. Yeah because there's no way a a guy went out and found a fashion blaster on his own. She had to mention it at some point he put it in the back of his memory. Said Hey this my wife is thinking about this Basha blasted ask the whatever it's called and she takes care of her body all the time she's really into you know she's in good shape whatever and if she wants something she never went and bought on our own soil all surprising her for her birthday. I'll let her know. I've been listening to what she says and I got it for her. Can you just get it for at some point. Is Her birthday point. Yeah I now now because it's like you may hear your wife say like Oh. I'd love to join this gym. I am on the birthday right. Eddie you're married for like one hundred years uh-huh appropriate or not. I say appropriate gift. This is a sign of true. Love like I mean cellulite that's just a part of life. Right I mean this is just like she's he's probably mentioned like you all said so. This is a actual good gift that she probably secretly has wanted it and your relationship is so saw that you're like hey we're not we're not offending anyone. One ear hold on. I'm texting this if she asked for it. It's tied to tooth but mentioned it because the lunchboxes point no guys just going to go bash oblast google. How Orchard Guys? There's no chance if you google how to get rid of cellulite. Fashion blasters rose up but again she had to have brought something up about my cellulite. And he's like I'm listening. They're also provided with counseling other services like get them back on their feet and like get jobs things and lived there. And it's a two hundred and seventy eighty five square foot little unit and has a kitchen a bathroom a sleeping area and I don't know I just think it's like Super Bowl. It's a little community and then you've got neighbors is that are all going through similar things as you and you can probably bond and talk over that and get your life. Yeah that's fantastic and it's it's not just a home which is a big deal. It's also a lot of the resources to to try to get back on track which is super important. That's awesome right there. That was telling me something. Good Ed knows show. This story comes a MILL CREEK UTAH around three. Am Police get reports of shots. Fired an apartment complex. 'cause they show up and this guy says yeah. Someone was trying to climb up on my balcony so I shot at them. It turns out it was just the shadows of the trees waving back and forth on. Oh God them and they believe alcohol was involved I well. I wasn't drinking the time I thought I sh- my reflection was my backyard. When I was looking at my back the back door my household would move quietly and move or be like? Oh this guy's real mirroring everything. I'm doing anything box at your boneheads story today. Your Buddy Mr Bob uncaught America right so this is the behind the scenes debate happening on the show that we're just gonNA bring into the air We're talking about after the show. Yesterday I played the couple nights ago and I was only in town for one night and there was a girl that was going on a date with but I didn't have a free night so I was like. Hey you can just go to the opera with me. We'll have dinner. We'll we'll go to the rental operate a performed and we laughed zone fine but the debate was would she be annoyed to go to the Grand Ole opry with me on the date and amy. You felt that as long as you dinner something before. Not just. That is the day I felt like. It could be pretty cool. which we did? We went to dinner for an hour. We talked on a first date wasn't a for a second day and then we walked over to the opry walked in the back of the Reimann MHM checked in fifteen minutes down kind of a little bit. Baller did twelve minutes of jokes then we left walked back over and I thought what if anything it was kind of a fun event as well you have dinner. You have a little event a little bit of a flex and I got to you like hopefully I'll be funny and And then Eddie goes I do not think that's a good idea you've done this a couple of times before. Where is this thing? I've only ever done at one time and it was. It wasn't really a date and don't get mad at me. It's just an observation. I feel like one. It is a flex kind of baller right K.. Two does a girl. You WanNa go on a date to someone's work like that's what you do for a living. Yeah what about you said. I'm in the chair on the show today so she has to. Just sit there while you do your work and then because not a librarian can do that or like lawyer because those are baller. Those aren't baller professions. He gets to show off. Look I'm the man on the stage. Look at all these people and she thinks that is not a lot of people get to go backstage. See that's what I'm talking about this. It was awesome. Now is the best move you can make so. You don't like them. I think it's kind of a it's a DVD. Move a little a little bit of a DB move Because because it's kind of like hey look at me. It's the it's literally the only night I was. I get the because he has kind of a coal gig like it. Would it be deitch if he was a paleontologist and took her to his dinosaur. Talk like Tom Brady for example. Yeah ballplayer if you're single. And he took all his dates. Like I'm playing half half of time one other time. Yeah I know I know. It's not like a constant thing I know I just. Maybe I'm telling you this because I maybe I don't want to be a constant thing for you. Yes every girl will be impressed by Tom. Brady Saint here come on. I'll take you on the field beforehand. Then you can go sit up in a suite out of here girls. I think I would wonder Oh. Is this his move. Is this something he does all the time like. Especially what's that baseball player. That used to give people gift basket look. Let me just play. Devil's advocate you. Give her a signed copy of your book and Your Life Different. I literally was until one night. I know if I were if it were different. Just really I know just like Gluck legit like this if you date this. I'm busy and sometimes dates might be my work the well. Let's go to Morgan number two. You're single let's say I was like. Hey let's I'm in town one night. Let's go out have dinner normal dinner but I have to go for fifteen minutes. Maybe twenty minutes we went. We walked over to the OPRY I did and we'd left. How would you feel about that? I would I would say there's two sides of this as as a girl for the first day the first day I ate heck no. You can't do it no. It wasn't a first even a second date. I still would avoid it because until you're maybe maybe unlike the fourth or fifth day I don't know that I'm I'm ready to see that side of you yet because that that's to me that you're Kinda showing off your good side. That's kind of like what you you know like on facebook. I know but I'm just saying like I think you should do something else. More personal to get to know we. We had Tashaun. Everyone doesn't know about you. Yeah everybody knows everything about me. No but there's gotta be something she may not. Yeah you're right and she also is an entertainment non music but I also say this too because to protect you too because I think you should wait until somebody's like the right person to do all the school things I don't care how well yeah does things I would say to like. We were literally there and it's cool and I would hope somebody would take me. Anybody would take me to go some opry like that's a really cool thing. Whoever it is yeah Eddie is is that what you were saying? BBS To take someone to the wards. What's the ones the next date? CNA exactly so along so wrong with that. There's just a lie. It's a lie. You're just jealous because exactly what it is Eddie with his wife. so He's like Dang. I gotTA hate on Bobby for duty if I could take my wife shore like I'm on the state that is baller. Yvonne's that's what I'm talking about. What was the other side Sidonia argument? I think it's a cool idea and not a lot of got me to do something like that. Like oh I didn't do this on another day isn't really cool essay on a date Morgan to would you rather do something unique or something that everybody does dinner in a movie that's boring. Why not do something thing? Different that people don't get the experience man that was such a cool day or occurs. Let's go around the g a good idea already done and it was a it was a everything good date and again we spent maybe twenty minutes Max. There had dinner for an hour walked over. Did my set walked out and that was was it it was it was a great night. Amy Good idea about idea. I already told you good idea. I'm fine with it Eddie. I wouldn't do it again. If you'd like the game let's go to our facebook page by the way. Nice job you to blow millennium pile. Oh stories so tween years and teen years for parents and their kids Kinda hard to navigate through a lot of stuff. There's a lot going on. But there's this data three and he's an author to his name. Is Bert folks folks and he has this little thing he does with his kids that allows them the freedom to fail and if they're in any situation where they just don't feel safer they need out out of it like. I'm picturing like you're at a party. You don't really feel like you should be there. You can just text your parents one symbol and they asked no questions they just come pick you up. They drop whatever. Whatever they're doing they come and get you promised they ask no questions? Well influence says here. That is the one rule no questions asked and in his family. He uses an ex so he suggests that if you WANNA take that use it with your your kids and you can text to anyone in your family. And everyone's kind of aware that X. means like I'm in I'm in a bad position I need help. Can you just come get me out. And whatever family immersion drop whatever they're doing text or call the teen and say case Even if the team needs a way way out 'cause they don't WanNa be embarrassed in front of their other friends the the the parent can say. Hey something's come up I've gotta come grab you be outside. I'm coming to get you in that way. It's not like you're in trouble. I think it's fantastic. However I can't see what he will go? Well what if I pick them up and there's trouble. Should I talk if you picked up your daughter. She's twelve yeah and she had been drinking. Yeah she the issue with the EX. How would you navigate that? Well I know if she hits me with the acts like she wanted. She knows that she failed in that. She wants me to help her out of it so yeah I think that in the moment sign not talking about her drinking. I would say like there's no questions asked but obviously if she's like don't don't you think we're GonNa talk about it the non-judgmental like but if it's no questions asked you can't bring up that situation. That's difficult part is yeah and if you say it and this is just in this situation but if you say no questions asked but then you ask questions. They're never going to believe you again. Not Ask questions It would be angry and not just children adults adults adults and adults people just in general. If you don't stay by your word no one will believe your word. So that's why I bring that up to you right right. We are going to have to discuss. Maybe the the the parameters of the like what they could be like different spin offs up at there'll be no question marks in those discussions Russians all statements. I think it's fantastic. It's it's harder than it seems but I think it's fantastic and I think he wrote I think we should put that linked to that somewhere. Okay up on our twitter page at the bobby bones. Show what else and so Emma Watson Bobby. I know that you're single. She's someone that single she's famous. She's almost thirty. The maybe maybe. And she said she's finally come to terms with not having a husband kids and all that grownup stuff and she calls it where she is now in her life? She's just self partnered and she signed with it just partners self partner. I don't think that's a very good term because partnered means to people I I just have problem with words in. I'm self wondered. It's just one person myself. It's a funny term Paltrow Hundred uncouple listen. Whatever you need to say in order to get you through the day parade go for it? That's good so I don't hate it but it's like you're not in a partner you even self partner that's two people or three people or five people But good for her and we're all just trying to find our way that's it what else well pringles just announced they're selling ling turn duct in chips for Thanksgiving. I thought you were going with that. Her Duck in her duck in not saying pringles announced a new line of third knocking. Look into because her duck and chicken her duck and not third the wrong Dir Duck in turn back and they're selling duck and chips and again like I said that's Turkey duck and chicken flavored chips and when you stack them on top of each other boom you've got a chip or they all different. I figured they would have won taste in each chip of But there's a Turkey duck and chicken chip Internet's weird you. There's a duck chip sir. All the chips are all part of their friends giving being feast her duck and kit which also comes with chips that tastes like cranberry sauce stuffing and Pumpkin Pie. I mean basically. You don't even have to cook your Thanksgiving meal. They got everything on the plate chips over there. She wants me to try. What are those flavor protein chips barbecue flavored? But they're straight protein made from like plant base so they're only like ninety calories and they're full of like eighteen grams of protein. And what kind of trip is that. It's barbecues Virginia. The brand of it like quest it's called Flex Al Flex I haven't tried. I'm going to try. This is not a commercial. I don't even know if they are you talking about chips and I'm the problem is until nine morning because I'm I'm still doing fit thirty-three diet so that is only for thirty three percent of the day which is eight hours and not only that you can only eat sugar in the first two hours of the Diet and you have to burn five hundred calories. He's either at the beginning or the end of the day somewhere in the day to get five hundred active catalog productive calories so it isn't it all be at once but that's the basis of the thirty thirty three diet that I have created so unique. However did you come up with this because everybody comes up everything basically Something else well. What do you mean with insane unit? It is kind of you find what works for you and then if it works for you you share it with others. They like it. They use it for their benefit too. Hard to burn five hundred calories. What is that like I when I ride the bike for half an hour I hit six hundred calories and I go hard but you can do a couple of who wants to take like an hour workout. You do whatever you want all right so there you go fifth thirty three thirty three et mean. It's I'm impressed because you're going to probably this is GonNa be your fourth or fifth bucks low. Well what I'm going to do is really dial it down and figure out what works for me especially my mind with Diet. It's so much about the mind. It's not just about the food you're eating and I found that if I can convince myself of certain tactics even with dieting working out that's after trying to trick myself into these things. So if it thirty-three eliminates all of the eating get night it because there's not an option it's not pick the right stuff it's you don't eat therefore you don't have to keep track of what's going into your body you win or lose each nights a win or loss. The thirty two thousand big believer right. I maybe that's my. It's time for the good news. The Scroll Malani notice. Her Mom wasn't acting like herself during a shopping trip to target girls twelve and she says she saw mom putting putting strange items in the car and staring off into space. But okay go home. And that's where things scary for her. She's her Mama's driving erratically. Alternating between speeds of sixty and twenty miles per hour. That's a pretty big difference of Ram Room so she calls nine one. It turns out her. Mom was having an absence seizure which is brief sudden lapse. This of consciousness. She follow instructions from the nine one operator getting the car into park like she had to reach over and they almost get her mom's lap and pull it off while hitting the brake puts it into park and the cops got there to her and they gave her a plaque for outstanding efforts and staying calm and emergency. Wow crawl over as the car was driving and get them off the wheel and then pull it over which is crazy. Yeah so Shout out to her for making a wise decision. Gifford Cops for awarding her that too anyway. That's tell me something good right there. That was telling me something good. BUDDY MR transmitting over amy for the Corny Corny joke in the morning. Let's do morning corny. If there were still pilgrims alive today what would they be famous for. What would they be famous for their age? Still alive like Whoa. You're all I'm going to laugh. Because she kept Kevin with it and we. We're the biggest puzzle morning riddle. That was morning Gorny in Texas. What's up? Hey how's it going pretty good. What are you going to say? Hey so I had a question for you and the whole gang there So I'm really big into the outdoors and I love camping hunting and hiking up and down mountains and everything. It's pretty much what I do with all my free time and I was wondering if I get your opinion If I should look for an email like a girlfriend or whatnot not if I should look for somebody that has the same interests as me or if I should not if that shouldn't be a factor in something that I'm looking for in a girlfriend or ah good question well let me say that. I don't think interests have to be the same if you're both willing to compromise and do what the other person likes to do Now when it comes to religious beliefs how you gonNA raise your kids who those fundamental issues need to be the same. I would call the activities and hobbies secondary important but not important. They do them but a part of their understanding of yours. You hop on some her shots yours. You have someone that each other fundamental issues. Yes this what. I would call a secondary but important issue no not. It's not mandatory amy. Why would agree because I I mean so? Yes you're going to want somebody. That's one of the outdoors like you if you love doing that kind of thing you don't you don't want somebody that's GonNa just be inside all the time. Some people hate the outdoors. I would say see. That girl may be. Would it be for you. She might not ever go do it with you. But also there's some hobbies and interests that you like to do by yourself so you don't like my husband loves to go go. It's a big one. The Big One. So you're saying it's a little more than I'm saying I mean. I think you should look for somebody. That has a little bit of interest in doing that or you did. I'd say bobby that she's willing to do it even if she doesn't like it. But if you find someone she's hasn't been exposed to it yet. Yeah maybe you could do that unless rocks. Look you don't want Miss Press whereas if you're going to be climbing up and down a mountain camping you don't want a indoors girl that's my gosh. Bugs this is so annoying. She has to be into it. Like if you're into bowling. That's different different. She can go bowling and have a drink and enjoy it. Yours are very like I guess what. He's say extraordinary when they're outdoors climbing mountains. It takes a special kind of Schick that will climb a mountain with you. It's not for everybody. You don't want misprint. That doesn't want to break nail. Well I don't know the girl you're going to meet. I've met girls that don't have similar hobbies and they have been like well Arkansas Football Games. That's that's fine. That's not my thing but I'll learn to like it and some of them do some of them don't I don't think you can dictate a whole relationship on on if they have this same on the same interest only find someone that agrees with all the the real important things of your life Do you want somebody to the stuff with though like do you. Is that okay. That's a good question. Do you want some other already. Knows how to do that stuff or are you cool with teaching someone to do that stuff. Yeah I mean I need. I'm fine with like teaching them like as long as they're like willing and not like just like putting runtime like yeah. I'll do it just to support you in your hobby like I mean it'd be awesome if I could find something that would support me but like I'd like to find someone that generally like being outdoors and I wouldn't mind being able to you know teach them and share with them my knowledge the outdoors. Eventually they'll complain like if they're really not into it then. We like to hike again. Do we have to sleep outside on. What are you willing to Jeremiah? Let's say Equestrian I don't even know what that was that writing I mean. Are you willing to learn cooking king or equestrian or any of that for them one hundred percent or are you looking for someone like you will modify their actions based on their love for the other person. Come up with something different. I don't even know what that is really. Because it's the only Olympics curling. Something Olympics girlfriend is in to making quilts. Would you stay inside. And so with her Probably couldn't so quilt all day long. But I definitely give it a shot. See Okay okay. Here's a here's as a final answer. Don't make that cutting point as long as she's willing to learn what you like. Yes but do find those real core values they need to be the same. Amy will with second date or so. You take her out to the woods. See what's up. Oh Wow okay lunchbox log. I don't get it Miss Presser. She has her nails done and she complains about sitting on dirt. You know she's not the one for you all right Jeremiah. There you heard three opinions. Thank you all so much I again when I say thank you. We will have a nice day. That's right who is Mike Pets. Who is is Nancy Pelosi? They're two of the most powerful people in government today but how they get their minds John Morrow and who is the first podcast from now this. Listen I heart radio. WanNa know more tune in to who is on on Tuesdays on the iheartradio APP apple podcasts. Or wherever you get your podcasts mentioned a couple of things that happened to me my day. Yesterday my dog had surgery. Dropped him off during the show at some drop them off off but it was kind of like wait and see when they get to him. So is there all day Picked him up about five o'clock yesterday and I wrote down some stuff he had was supposed. I have four surgeries. I knows Nuder Weiner all at once like all of his body was going to be sort today ended up picking him up pretty close to the evening. Most things went well. There was a lot of tissue build up in the back of his throat. Because told you at one point. He choked on his own. Vomit was like couldn't breathe because there's so much tissue build up and throw causes that just as breed probably hundreds of years of being inbred As a bulldog. Yeah which is explain. Why Chokes on much So the vet took as much of that as he comfortably could still going to have some bill to be careful with that. The neutering went fine. He's you know a couple short now. All right I'd Hi to put him under here to cherry either two grown over. They were able to cut that off but they said. Hey the other one's still may grow because if one goes the other one does too they like for them both to be up but since he was already under they got this one and we hope that the other I doesn't grow up In his winner problem episode until Wiener Dog Specialist Wiener dog dog specialist that works on wieners. They couldn't fix it. What is it? I don't understand well. It's pretty early in the morning and I really don't WanNa get graphic about it. Yeah but it's there at times times it just is. Is there a lot more than it should be. And it's not because he's excited. It's just like there and it's like Oh so you can kinda got if you wanted to go. You gotTa push it back in. So I got my dog to a Weiner dog specialist except not the Weiner dog dog all in all. He's got a the big coney on his head not feeling great. But that's part of it so somebody listens reaching out about my dog Stanley is on the way to to to be unhealthy by the way people ask by name Stanley. He's named after Stanley on the office because when I got him he just like Stanley on the office and I have a picture in my dogs room. Now that that listened painted me of Stanley the office character that hangs above his bed in his room address. The other room for your dog and a room for my dog. Because I don't have kids or girlfriend or wife or anything else to put in that room make sense so that happened yesterday. I'm going to guess it would have me yesterday. Somebody random base times me. It's his name. It was like blogging blogging blocked. Sixty three rarely. Does somebody facetime me. That I don't even know so I don't answer it and then I got a text Miami going you ignore me now. He's got a secret code. Name on facetime. Oh ooh and she's like well we have facetime on before you just forget it. 'cause it it it doesn't. It doesn't seem like me. My husband said enough. Yes so it's one of those like super-secret offense the military and so then I hit her up and I faced amy. She's crying and like Oh boy. I'm here for it. Whatever you need but you never know where it's going to be and I always know when it's amy's time the month anyway I can just it's a twinkle in her eye even before it starts? I'm like Gotcha and so. Oh but she's crying and she got a really nasty email about one of podcasts and we had a nice talk right yes I appreciate it a lot and basically it was to her is when your podcast or anything you do get so big more people see it with that numbers game with more people. Certain people are GonNa get angry at what you say. Hey and we talked about it. I know it didn't fix the situation. Yeah but talking through it and you helping helping me navigate through what I was feeling and I think it was okay to be feeling what I was feeling but I need to know that will in your always good at reminding being made that. Nobody's not everybody's GonNa like what you say ever do. And that just means in the more people that start to listen the more people. All that are not going to agree with you. I just felt I let it get to me and I didn't feel responsible in my position to have a voice and a platform to speak speak is a Muslim. Made me feel irresponsible note. And that I I. I shouldn't have that and I started to believe her. And that's the story I built in my head is like oh my gosh She's right and this is a lot of pressure and I WANNA crawl under a rock and not do this. You know like wha what am I doing this just GonNa go Larry Ace I disappear. That will say anything. The biggest heart anybody that I know and at times that big heart can block you you from feeling from from from reacting what would be the normal way to react to so big names like I don't know should I send her some flowers. Are you talking about just. Don't reply to the email all day long. I could beat up on the text grain on instagram twitter. My life just getting beat up. But that's a little boy sino-foreign in a four and a little bit. She's a numbers game. We talked about. It was great on a good place last night. We spent a lot of time talking about unhappy and I appreciate you so much. Newer huge encouragement to me. And I I did feel better like I also to think yeah sucked that it had to be that but maybe I just also I felt better being able to cry and get it all out because I know I was doing the ugly cry either it was other. Somebody died or is about flow stream. It was intense tints and I was just like but I thank you for allowing me to be comfortable enough to to share that with you. Because I don't a buggy with that a lot going. We never bugged me and knowing that I sent another message later on I was still thinking about an hour later which is really thoughtful. Texas much more. Push the button talking to my phone. Amy This A couple minutes voice and I was like hey. I'm proud of you everything you're doing. Okay amy how do you feel when you hear hi. This is the first you've heard it. Yeah I mean I guess I'm like having to start letting go of my dream of getting it 'cause I mean he might beat me to it like like I don't want it to be a competition. They'll like if he wants this house. I want him to have it. But what you guys moving together. Oh cohabitate take family. What's and I got a question for y'all so I was wondering if Y'all like AH advice from y'all if it's okay to call my girlfriend's Dad And Ask for his blessing. Let thing over the phone because of the distance instead of driving and doing it in person. Yeah well I would think that if there is something like distance or schedule especially if you're going to propose that you need to propose on a certain timeline that it would be okay not preferable but that that it would be okay to do it on the phone amy. Yeah I mean if you don't have any plans to see him for a long time and it requires like a long drive or a flight like I think it's okay. I bet if you if you can think of some opportunity that will take you out there. Like for whatever reason she's going to see your family and you can go to and just sneak away with him. Yeah what's going on at yes. We is their work schedule or way. So yeah so on. I'm in the military and I work like a firefighter scheduled. So it's like today's on today's off and he lives three three and a half hours away. I'm always with her though. I can never really sneak off. Yeah for like a proposal imminent like is it happened immediately. Not Not immediately but thinking you're GonNa hear doing it shortly. Okay so this is what I would say if you can do it in person but if you can't I don't think it's a bad deal if because because of timing in the military pass what about facetime is that weird I would face don have a face no android you and my husband. I bet you somebody who has iphone you can borrow if we needed to. Here's the final judgment here. Not a bad deal for you to talk to him again not preferred but especially if you're gonNA propose for the end of the year and you're not going to see the data for the end of the year you can call. If it's like six months away I'll just hold off and go talk to the dead in person but he probably wants daughter to be happy. I'm assuming that's number one party for both of you guys and however the easiest way you can do that would would be the total win all right. See you later. All right. bye-bye there's Chris Texas and by the way will end on that note. That's that's going to wrap the show. Amy was going today.
