"Much anticipated sequel is in theaters this weekend. Miles Morales is back as Spider -Man. Miles, being Spider -Man is a sacrifice. You have a choice between saving one person Send me home. The new movie is called Spider -Man Across the Spider Verse. Joining us live on Skype, Vulture critic Jen Chaney. Jen, this first film inside the Spider -Verse won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and it sounds like producers in the sequel. They really are, Mark. Gosh, I enjoyed this movie so much. This sort of comic book oriented plot of this is that, as you know, if you saw the first movie, Spider -Men and Spider -Women in all different universes and dimensions and there's a chance the whole thing to is going collapse and so Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy have to join forces with other spider people to save the universe from collapsing. But really like every good Spider -Man movie, this is also of a coming age film. It's a movie about the relationship between Miles and Gwen and their respective parents and the animation is just so beautiful. It's so rich and so evocative of the comics. I just was blown away by it. Wow, that is outstanding. Can you summarize they what are doing in this movie that is different from what we saw in the first one in terms of the technology that they're using to create this animation? I don't know if the technology is necessarily that much better, although certainly five years doesn't sound like that long, but a I think they've stepped it up to the next level. You don't normally movie. watch an I think about the cinematography and the lighting, but I did because it is animation that is so beautifully done. I think this movie is actually funnier than the first one. a lot more moments of humor. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who've been involved in the first one, they both co -wrote on this and feel you can their sensibility coming through. It's just a really enjoyable movie, one of my favorites of the far. year so Outstanding, looking forward to that. Also on Netflix, it's the third season of the sketch comedy series, I Think You Should Leave. Is this show still funny? I Think You Should is Leave still funny. It is a frequency that you have to get on with Tim Robinson. I thought the first two seasons were funnier. There are a lot of people who would watch this and go, I don't get why this is funny. I think it's funny and I think a lot of people do. A lot of the sketches are really him in situations where he's just breaking norms. social It does get a little repetitive, but if you find that funny, you're going to find it really, really funny because it happens over and over again. "Oh yeah, when you're and then uncharted had uncharted had multiplayer, but maybe it didn't have a mini thing for uncertainty legacy, wasn't it? No, that was its own game. That was just on 12 hours. I got a lot of people who are really mad about miles length, even though technically it might be easier to do at 80% or a 100% running that game without going extended hours. But man, I just, I felt Spider-Man was pretty bloated at the end. So to me, miles was a little bit more of a little bit more of a bite, you know, you have your fine meal and you go and you're not talking, you know, sometimes have you ever had a dinner with Friends and you talk too long and you're like, you feel like you're just talking to talk. And then somebody's like, well, gotta go. This was the dinner where everybody ends at the right time. Everybody's like, oh man, you know, I got to go and get up. When those fucking prisoners take over in the first game and all the missiles and stuff, I was just like, after a couple hours of that, I was like, oh, but also the fact that the first Spider-Man keeps introducing new collectibles, like then you have it does, doesn't it? It's a photo all around town. The towers you have to go around. Collecting the stink in miles. Taking the pictures of the black cats, little statues. Oh yeah, I forgot, oh man, I forgot that black and then that gave me one collectable hunt after another. That the game keeps rolling out as you progress. That's why I'm interested for Wolverine, 'cause Wolverine, what's he gonna do? Is it gonna drive around in a fucking Volkswagen bug? Like he doesn't have a swinging mechanic. Oh my God, what if he does grant? That's what would be amazing. He's like, he has like Wolverine time. He always says it every time. Wolverine time. Spider-Man did also have two or maybe it was even, I think it was three, actually. DLC text outside of outside of the milestone. So how would Wolverine? Yeah, so like Wolverine's gonna completely change its gameplay because like if it's open world, they gotta figure out a way to get him going places. Because otherwise, I mean, can you imagine him stealing a car? I mean, could steal a car. Maybe that would be what it may be to be GTA. But like the idea of him punching through the head of him on a bike. His character is famous for having me. Okay, there we go. So maybe he'll have one of those tokens, which is like, you know, so and so gave me a match. Maybe it'll be like days gone we have to fuel it up and fix it all completely. God. Let's go. I like to in days gone. That's a zombie survival game. This is Wolverine. If you have Wolverine getting gas, you have to go. That's all you'll hear in the review. "Because you get tired of fear of missing out. You get tired of hearing a podcast talk for like three hours about we did. Dark souls. Yeah, you're just like, dude. Probably the most controversial one based on reviews and users scores would be back for blood, but I had a lot of fun playing it with friends, collecting achievements, and ramping up the difficulty slider. One of the patches which turned the game around so your whole deck is available on map one completely change the dynamic. The only disappointment is the DLC. It took ages to release two DLCs the first one involved R and G location spawns within the original campaign, meaning you had to replay the existing game to achieve the new content. And I'm not saying I'm truthful. I'm just saying that's sort of what I sell the channel as is that I may not please you, but you can be guaranteed what I says, what I feel. So yeah, it's different, man. Dude, if only fans, you know, it's different, like everyone's different. And right now, thirsty makes sense because a lot of people are at home masturbating. I mean, if you guys noticed, Pornhub released their category improvements. One of the largest ones was called roommates and siblings. That was our largest category. And you know why? Because you're locked in a house with your siblings during the illness. People were starting to get it's not that surprising. It's really not that surprising. In general, people who consume content are very, very passive. That's why the calls to action exist a lot. Like for example, on Twitch, you know, you've got like a 50,000 view stream or whatever and only like a hundred people talking.

And he's had some side fighting games. But I think now that marvel is mixed all these characters and we're going to start seeing some cool team ups. Deadpool is somebody I would love to see back in a video game. I'm one of the few people who love the Deadpool video game. I think Deadpool and Wolverine would be awesome because we're going to see that in the new movie. "Of the time, that's considered a dick move. You should really have a lot of control. And but his plan went out of his brain. The first time he got punched, because the first time you get punched in the nose is one of the most awkward experiences of your life. Disorienting. It's weird. I still remember it for the rest of my life. I remember one of my Friends was doing accidentally stepped on my foot. He was like, look over there. And he meant to swing and scare me, and he said, well, he says this. And I believe him. But maybe he meant to punch me. But he stepped on my foot so I couldn't back up. And I went and he, I mean, he was like, like a Kung fu movie, you know, like Bruce Lee and he was like, boom. And I was only like 7 at the time. And I remember every plan, every good idea, every fantasy idea I had every every cool girl I ever liked exploded out of my ears. Like nothing works for a good amount of time. You're just like, wow. Yeah, it's your brain's disconnected, trying to walk around was weird. And you're getting knocked out after that's nothing, but the first time, yeah. Yeah, or you see somebody really good at sparring. Sorry, really good at martial arts. And they'll get punched the first time and they start turning away because your brain is like, well, dude, I'm not going to lead with my face. That's really dumb. You have to really become accustomed to it. And the same thing happens with a lot of sports baseball was that way for me. Took me forever to get good at baseball. And I was never that good. But trying to hit a ball that's very close to you, but not trying to hit you, is against everything I've ever learned. And so they try to throw a ball as fast as humanly possible at a spot that's really close to your body and the idea of standing there is not my brain is like, I'm getting out of the way. Get the fuck out of Dodge. Yeah. Have you ever seen good baseball players too? Like a ball go in 98, they'll go like, wow. And the ball and you're like, dude, if that had hit him, break his jaw, you know, give him a full. Heavy balls, too. They don't have to go in 98 miles an hour. And it's made a leather, like there's few things in the world that hurts worse than that. Moving on from there and back into games. Thanks for asking about that. I think it's always good to talk about other stuff. To me, it's more enjoyable to randomly talk about some of the stuff and then break back into games. And we've seen a little bit more of that. And the reason Doctor Strange movie, were they took things from what if kind of just tiny bits, just tiny little bits of just sometimes just a little visual illusion to something. An Easter egg almost an Easter egg, just like, is that no, no, that's a different that's different, but it looks the same. Because I think the thing that comes after what if is the new Spider-Man? Is that correct? Yes, that's correct. Or was it Hawkeye? No, no, it was Spider-Man. Hawkeye was Christmas. It was Chris. Hawkeye's a Christmas story, by the way. Yes. It's a great story that we will watch every Christmas though. Oh my gosh. Why aren't there DVDs? I need there to be D&D. And maybe not that I would ever do this. Figure out a way to burn them. "Yeah, so you guys know me. It takes a lot for me to jump into a game and get emotional, get like excited about something. So I would say overall, what is an emotional moment in games for me? Big emotional moment in games. Hitman three being sort of maybe done. Probably, you know, like the idea of that, at least moving on from the core, the core, you know, those three are sort of their thing and we may get something else, but we're not quite sure how that's going to go. And to go into that and see him and possibly think he was dead, I was so like, oh my God, this is amazing. And sort of emotional in that way. And then he lived and you see him come out of the woodwork and I was just like, this is so cool. Man, I loved it so much. He got reading the logs and the advantage points and Horizon Zero Dawn. "We Christmas. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. We're going to discuss Spider-Man: No Way Home. Special podcast, we've all seen that now. It's a good film. Tay trav and I rented out a theater. That's the best 2400 calories I've ever had. Just delicious. I was definitely watching and judging everybody that got up to pee. I'm like guys. Two and a half hour movie. Let's lock it up here. So that's an important note though. This movie's not going to go to Disney+, right? After 45 days, this is not going to Disney+. That's part of the Sony agreement is that this was a not until after it comes out on blue ray. And I'm now interesting. So initial thoughts, then we're going to go right into heavy spoilers. So we're oh, okay. So quick go around of what we thought of the movie like read your digest form. Yeah. I enjoyed it. I thought it was one of the best MCU movies overall the best Spider-Man movie to date. So I would say 9 out of ten. Yeah. So our thoughts from you guys. Just doesn't quite know how I just don't see him just like bursting onto the screen with something like this feather boa style mane and just like in a Russian accent. If he did, it would be the greatest it would be if they did it right. Can you imagine how cool that would be? I think it would be cool. But as you said, I didn't know about the actual PS5 and saying that there won't be multiplayer. But I can definitely if they build on bigger city, more spaces, like areas, thematic to the two different spidermans and just giving me more of that beautiful momentum and swinging. I'm all for it. It's like he's got a formula. You don't need to make massive adjustments to it. Just give me more story in different ways to punch kicker. You do multiple air. "In video games or in movies or whatever. I don't think they've ever sort of got into the core of a watch sort of made his characters in character into comics interesting or compelling or cool to me at any rate. But then again, I mean, even the comics have sort of struggled with that over the years quite a lot, I think. So you didn't like a lot of what's his name as venom? The actor. Tom Hardy. And let me the show who hadn't hadn't played that. That's a wonderful amazing game Co-op his fantastic. It's fun to you know, my buddy and I played next to each other on the couch. It's it's like, really, really great and it made me want to watch baseball. So I think it's actually it's good for the MLB as well. So, that's a fun assignment. "Week we were recording as our playstation five. Were arriving so we haven't got to spend much time with them yet. But now he's got a week of his five under our belts and we can share all of our impressions. I saw a justin. You have your five. I do okay. Okay who would like to begin. How have you've been finding your playstation five once. So i i've been playing spider man and i remember all the things i liked about their original spiderman which all good things One of the things. That's really funny. Is that spiderman. Look so much better than the rest of the game like every time. There's a cut scene or anything. I'm just like staring at the costume. It's so cool looking like the fabric and like the detail like his is opening and closing like apertures and stuff like that and like the city and stuff. It's just i kinda zipped through it now. And that's not. The remarkable part like the power of the playstation is in the cut scenes for me. That came really funny well especially when spiderman is actually a piece of snow with reflection on top of him he looked yes yes he's there's been some interesting glitches with spiderman before he turned into snow and trash for some people Brandon got a glitch where it was just the spider man costume torso completely empty like fully functional. Like and like you know. He does ski stealth mode in the scam. So just the halloween theme suit. Yes exactly maybe. he's porgy pigging. it will naked. So you're talking about Remastered right not. It's funny that you mentioned the switch. Because now we know that the same company the built hd rumble for the switch. Is the company that built the haptic feedback for the dual sense. Marina gonna say everybody keeps saying that astros playroom is like a really overlooked great title game of the year or at least one of those award considerations. I'm only kind of like briefly played through it mostly as like a demo for my brothers from ever trying to get more interested in video games So it is like the controller aspect is really cool. Because it's it's definitely like the demo showcase for that controller. I've also heard that call of duty. Does the same thing. Oklahoma ops showcase for that to place personally. Every gun in black ops cold war feels different. Yeah you mentioned. Astros player. That i played through the first level and totally fun. You know totally charming. I lo- i surprised. By how much like playstation fan service is littered all over the place. My favorite quote about that game comes from our own fearless leader pair schneider. Who said miyamoto's going to be so mad. He didn't make this. It is true though right. You know it's like people gave playstation a hard time with playstation all-stars where they have to cobble together. You know this you know mascots. In order to have a chance of competing with the intendo and their nostalgia factor. But like. I think that's really changed. The playroom team really gets playstation in in a little bit deeper. More reverential way I absolutely love playroom get enough of it. I think i'm going to go for the platinum. Where like i'm not like an achievements. I don't normally care to do that. But i'm kind of obsessed with it. And i think the music's really good and really charming and And i find that. The experience of playing that game with the dual sense is like so revelatory an awesome. It feels like magic. And it's like the dual sim controller and the in the in the the rumble in the triggers. "The first console to launch. On tuesday of this last week was the xbox series x and s so i should just. We'll just start in chronological order and i. I have lots of thoughts about the xbox series x. But i'm actually very curious andrea about the xbox series s because i saw on your instagram and twitter that you have one of those the smaller less expensive consoles. And you're really. I think from what i read. Taken by the form factor. If nothing else right. I love that little thing. So xbox was kind enough to send what could games and xbox series x so i purchased for myself an xbox series s because i knew that i was going to need one in our. What's could game studio. But i also wanted one in the living room where i'm going to play it most of the time and so like well. I don't really need four k because streaming and four k still just isn't really a thing that's available on twitch rip mixer they really were doing high resolution streaming the best out of anybody. I know that caffeine actually doesn't pretty good um high resolution streaming as well. But i was like what the xbox series s is going to work for me in the studio because i don't need really more than fourteen forty p and i love the form factor. It's so small. And i love that compared to the vsbn. Which is just a monster ons. Which i know we'll get to in just a little bit but the value proposition. That microsoft is bringing with xbox game pass. Xbox game pass ultimate in for those who are interested xbox game cloud x. cloud wherever they're going to finalize that name to be. I think that it's a really great opportunity for people to get in and obviously we saw the news that we're gonna talk about just the second year that microsoft announced its their biggest console launch ever and that is to do because of the xbox series s. I agree having that low price. Point was really smart. i mean obviously. We've seen nintendo reap the benefits of having a low price point for new hardware for generations. Now and it. It actually like the sony and microsoft finally got around to realizing. Oh yeah if we don't charge through the nose for these things people buy more of them But tell me a little bit about your experience using the the s are you noticing Does it feel like a generational upgrade from your xbox one. It's interesting that you bring that up because that was one of my critiques of the new consoles that they didn't feel like a gigantic leap forward from the xbox one x specifically now i know that most consumers are probably changing generations between their original xbox one or potentially they have the xbox one s. But there's probably not as many people. Doing what i did going from the one x to these series x and the series as the low times of course are definitely faster. But i think microsoft. I don't know how. I really feel about the fact that they did not change the i like. They launched this he on the old generation and they kept at the same. I know that there's a big portion of the games out there that are like thank goodness. I don't wanna have to relearn something. But i just i think it kind of takes a little bit of that shiny sparkly new console feel away from it and overall. I just didn't think that outside of the loading times that there was anything dramatically new. And i think a lot has to do with the fact that there wasn't a first party exclusive game like now they have launched with halo infinite in halo. Infinite was running at sixty frames per second fourteen forty p on the xbox series s different story.

They're not doing any Store sales because of the preorder snafus from both companies and both companies are guilty of this. It's created quite a problem. And i understand that. There's a shortage in production due to what's gone on twenty twenty and i i get that but still to not provide consumers with the ability to go ahead and purchase a day one and go to the stores to do that. I think that's also a step in the wrong direction. I i definitely agree with that. So you said you're leaning towards this time around is that correct. Yep it's really hard. I mean i got two hundred games on my portfolio there to leave those behind especially when you literally get all those games on the new console joe right off the day one. So if i were to go to playstation. I'd have to start from scratch. And i wouldn't have anything and many of them will load faster on the ssd drive and some of the may even have resolution bump ups that will be free of charge for those games. So that's very attractive for anyone who's getting a playstation five or in your case and xbox series eventually when you can get your hands on one yeah. I mean with the playstation. I've always used it as like an exclusive machine and i play most of my gaming on the xbox kinda similar with the nintendo switch. I play all the exclusives on there. And i use the xbox for anything that comes out multi-platform when it comes to the game launch. Lineups you and. I know that we've seen the past with these consoles. The launch lineups for the most part people just pick them apart and sometimes in some cases deservedly so in this case when it comes to both the playstation xbox playstation has a little bit of offerings when it comes to exclusive launch games. "We're talking about playstation five accessibility features. This is James O'Keefe honor. Gamespot Sony has given us some insight into the systems in build accessibility features and how they'll make the system easier use for disabled players. While the PS four had text to speech the playstation five also has a voice dictation system which allows you to convert speech to text. There's also a screen reader function which lets users here onscreen texts that they might not be able to read. in-depth users will have the option of typing out text messages that will be spoken out loud for players in multiplayer. These features will also support multiple languages Sony has announced. Final Fantasy 16 Revealed At PS5 Showcase Event
"They started off their event. Sony did. With a pretty big reveal and that is the next main line final fantasy game final fantasy sixteen, which looks like a return to sort of more medieval ask a look. Out of the car with the boys and we're into more of a Fantasy you know real fantasy setting. What did you think Tom of what they showed for final fantasy sixteen I'm I'm never been like a huge huge final fantasy nut. I'll say that much but I'm. Definitely. Intrigued by this like it. It looks cool and fifteen was a really fun cool game and the actually the most exciting thing to me like the trailer itself was. Cool. But didn't tell me a ton right because firefighters has been and can be so many different things that I didn't get a ton of vibes off of it more than like this is neat. Right The thing that excited me most about it was hearing after hearing afterwards at nayek Nokia Yoshida was GONNA be directing the game 'cause he's goes by colloquially named known as. and. He was the director and producer of fun finished fourteen and has done such an insanely good job with that game that hearing that he's being given the reins to the main series. Next main series game is. Really really exciting. So I think that there was a there's a lot of potential here and I'm very excited to see what they do with it but also this trailer didn't immediately make me run out and pre-order necessarily if that makes sense Christian, what did you think of it? Yeah. I like the direction they're saying it's going. I find interesting. It seems. To put this, not more combat focused because they've always been a lot of combat and final fantasy games, just kind of how that combat is delivered and I'm not sure. But I kind of got the feeling that. It's maybe embracing more of that final fantasy seven remake real time and I you know there have been so many final fantasies and so many sub fantasies of final fantasies that it's hard for me to keep track of them. It's like I know what original seven was. I. Know Tactics I kind of remember. A, and then I don't know anything else after that. But I'd like that they keep evolving with implying within. I. Think Though the people they have working on this thing. One I. Hope it hits a date. And too I think it looks really interesting. It's a big it. That was the other thing that was rumored I had an last week hill gets to see but an exclusive final fantasy the big that was a big stage moment for Microsoft when they were able to walk that out, say like coming to xbox final fantasies in in Sony's pulling it back seven, and then now this one is well I. Don't know final fantasy is has the brand cachet at once did but I still think it is a another Arrow in that quiver. You fifteen of course had. Real time action combat as well. and I think that that's just what squaring does now that they've. You know there is a way to kind of finesse turn bass fish in seven remained but not really. So I don't I just that's just what they do. Now, a much to my chagrin because I'm a fan of turn based off. But you know I miss I'm with you missed the turn based too. I think what they're doing with combat stuff especially, seven remake seven remakes combat I think is phenomenal but I just missed the classic a little bit too. Yeah. I do I do I mean I'm a big fan of based stuff Anyway so fun fantasy sixteen. I thought it was A. Pretty. Cool way to start the show.

Prince of Persia Remake Graphics Already Look Much Better in Updated Screenshot
"Of Persia is back. The sands of time is getting remade. Now, this is not just a re master with a resing. It's actual using the term remake and they showed off a new trailer. It's coming to PC playstation four and xbox one on January. Twenty. First Twenty twenty one. What did you think of the trailer Tricia I I should ask you, I guess, play the original game in and so did you like it? I never owned the original game. So I was around while other people were playing Rachel Cam. And I enjoyed watching the bits that I watched, but it doesn't have the same nostalgic residents with me that I feel like it does with other people. I kind of had a similar a similar reaction to think. What I was the majority in chat watching it live, which is you know these graphics look two generations ago in this supposed to come to next gen consoles what Gibbs but I'm curious to ask you guys if either of you did play the original to a great extent did the graphics feel reminiscent of the original and maybe that's why that artistic choice was made. Certainly. I mean it looks as so many of these remakes do except for the ones that are really go for it but so many of these games. It looks like I remember the game looking you know because. In my head, it looked like that and then you go back and you screen shots like Oh, God? No, it didn't look anything like that. They've done a lot of work on this but in your head you're like Oh. Yeah. That looks like. The time which is a game I absolutely loved at the time and I'm kind of excited a replay it. Christian. How about you are you disappointed by the look of this remake or did you did you play the game with? What's your feelings played? It loved it. All of them I play them on. Game. Cube Big Fan of that of that series even the dark middle chapter with bangs in his is I could I got behind it. You know we were both listening the Thursday at the same time you're. Screaming our way through time travel. I am not excited about this remake I I want a new Prince of Persia for whatever reason replaying this game doesn't seem exciting to me I. think some games like Halo where the combat is a little bit more of a sandbox are a little more enticing. To combat to have been I don't know evolved. More needs to be a mortal colon writing for me to get. Yeah I don't know. That's the thing. If maybe they gave it like that man combat combat in the originals was good but I think third person action combat is kind of moved past that. Now I'm not I'm not super excited about I want a one a new game in the franchise in this race gets us that is this would breathe this. This game is remake doing well, does that get us the new game? The Franchise? Is this a stopgap to the game in the franchise? That's two years out. It may very well be but I I hope I'm wrong than if that's the case but I don't think this game will do particularly well, because while I, do think it looks kind of like how I remember the original looking. You know this is going to be coming out a few months after the new consoles are out and we're seeing spider man miles morales, and we're seeing maybe ray tracing on ratchet and clank in we're seeing other. UBISOFT. Know involve Hala and some of these other games that they're doing and I don't think people are going to be super excited about this remake coming out in January, which is a little bit of a weird time. Ano- Capcom has had some success with that date before to. Remix with remakes but those were bigger like after seeing that style of remake if it's not Tony Hawk purse gator one to a resident evil two I have a hard time getting out of bed for it. You know like We've been spoiled by incredible incredible remakes lately, and from what I saw of this Prince of Persia Sands of time remake doesn't seem to be at that caliber in my opinion.

Persona 4 Golden no longer exclusive to PlayStation Vita, now available on Steam
"The PC game conference which. I don't even know how we cover it. There's so many things in the PC game covers A. Christine that you want to Br I think the biggest one may be potentially biggest. One is persona five excuse me persona, four golden coming to PC. Yes, so that was looking at this list and I'm like honestly that's the only thing we're talking about is. Four goal, 'cause I mean I still love that game I think persona four is one of the strongest personas that there is and I- platinum to that game when it was on the Vita so I mean I won't play it again. Because I played three hundred hours of that game I think I'm good, but I'm really excited for people who may be you know.
