I consider this mood boosting kind of weather. We're all in a good mood when it feels nice and you got nice sunshine too kind of shining down on you. So that's what we're going to have this week. Temperatures tomorrow morning 40s and 50s getting out the door. Northwesterly light winds and again sunshine coming your way with a high temperature around 80 degrees pretty much on par with what today felt like. Wednesday also up around 80 degrees and staying dry. Thursday right now a few clouds and temperatures slightly higher 82 83 and then for the end of the week your Friday right now highs in the 70s we're going to be partly sunny to mostly cloudy. The clouds from a coastal storm right now that storm system is yet to develop it's down around an old cold front that's down through Florida but as that low pressure system develops it will track northward and for our area this upcoming weekend we do have a chance for some rain from that system and with an east wind a little bit of a stiff wind out of the east at time so it will be a little breezy with rain moving through the way it's looking right now. Our high temperatures will be taken down a couple of notches lower 70s for Saturday mid 70s right now on Sunday and I'm tracking temperatures for you right now as well as DC at 73 degrees up a Marlboro 70, 63 in Winchester and 66 in Leesburg Virginia. It's in the light of numerous criminal cases levied against him. Critics are saying he's trying to get prosecutors and witnesses. His legal team has until tomorrow afternoon to respond to a request of a more protective order which would prevent the former president from discussing case evidence in public. public. Joining us to break it all down is White House and political analyst for U .S. News and World Report's Walsh Ken and can the judge here has kind of a novel decision to make in this case a protective order to from tampering with the case or restrict the speech of someone running for office. What can we expect? Yes, well, it's a difficult decision for Judge Shatran, but so many things that are coming up in these cases against former President Trump are difficult decisions. We're in historically places groundbreaking now with all these charges he's pleading not guilty, but he's using many many different techniques to delay the proceedings and to win the court in the court of public opinion and one of them is this notion of and retribution he has said usually exactly that word saying if you elect me, I'll be your Tribune of retribution talking about his supporters and so this whole notion of revenge and getting back at his enemies and his adversaries is really swirling around Trump and his whole campaign right now and that's what we're going to be hearing about this coming week in the DC court about this protective order because the Justice Department is arguing in response to Trump's saying if after you go me, I'm coming after you that this would possibly intimidate witnesses and intimidate people who might be testifying so it's a very central point in these cases that we're about to approach here and we're going to see a lot of it play out this coming week. And we have the initial Republican debate coming up soon. How are the former president's primary opponents looking at this situation? Well, I think one of the most interesting parts this to are that they've been treading very lightly on and analyzing how they see these cases against Trump and this whole retribution idea that Trump is promoting. But one of the most interesting parts is that former Vice President Mike Pence is moving more and more toward criticizing his former President Trump over this idea that Trump wanted Pence to stop the certification of the electoral votes. Trump has always argued with good reason, according to constitutional scholars, he that didn't have the power to stop the vote. Trump has said that he did have the power and you're to going see Pence in the spotlight now on this exact issue in which he's really breaking with Trump in many ways. That's something of a surprise, but it looks like it's going in that direction. Excellent. Thank you for joining us, Ken. This westbound before you get to 123, the right side, there's a roll of in carpet the roadway and the folks are swerving back and forth trying to get around it. The folks who lost that load of carpet are trying to get it out of the roadway as well. So definitely something to watch for. Again 66 westbound to a mile marker 59 and a half. So right before you get to Route 123 in Manassas, 66 Wellington Road between Dean Park and Berkshire Street. There was a report of a crash earlier. Also Little River Pike near Pine Ridge Drive. A report of downed wires. So that one could be there for a while. An earlier report, Bailey's Crossroads, Leesburg Pike, the westbound ramp to Columbia Pike. Followed direction police due to a crash there. Also on the Maryland side 70 westbound before the Ridge Road overpass and Myersville. A single lane gets by due to the work. You want to stay to the left to get past that. 270, the local lanes in Rockville, this area of Falls Road have the right side blocked due to an earlier disabled and in Hanover, Dorsey Run Road. Both ways in the area of Coca -Cola Drive. Police direction, police activity there as well. An earlier concern on the Capitol Beltway has been removed or unfounded. They were looking for a crash to the inner loop in the area of Route 66. Things seem to be moving while there. The Capitol Beltway moving at speed. No reported problems on the Baltimore, Washington Parkway. 95 on the Maryland side between the two beltways in good shape as well. 50 looks good as you make your way out either east or west bound. There was an earlier delay in the area of Y Hills, but that's been taken care of. "File your taxes at Jackson Hewitt details 928 traffic and weather on the eights over to read in the traffic center while things are starting to clear out in the area the one point that it's not is on I -70 headed in the bound direction out of Myersville into Frederick the original crash happened near mile marker 50 after U .S. 40 alternate Braddock Heights it was along the left side now slightly before this reportedly a second crash along the left side again that delay is out of Myersville westbound is seeing a delay trying to head into Myersville as well it was near Maryland 56 big pool exit 12 the left lane was getting by a broken down truck so that's going to be causing a delay in that stretch as well now on 270 southbound the delay remains from falls road headed onto both loops of the beltway it southbound 270 after old Georgetown Road a report of a wreck on the left side if you're continuing on to the spur that delay begins on the outer loop near old Georgetown Road and off of the spur headed across the American Legion Bridge watch for the work they usually set up along the right side in the area of River Road and Falls Road traffic had been alternating there for a crash but we're seeing major delays not only on eastbound River Road headed toward Falls Road but also along Falls Road itself trying to head to River Road not sure if that's because of the alternating and whether was there something else going on on Falls Road but you're going to need to give yourself some extra time either direction in this intersection in Virginia northbound 95 was clearing out nicely no problems onto 395 the delay begins near the Pentagon headed across the 14th Street bridge I'm Rita Kessler wtop traffic now seven news first alert meteorologist Eileen Whalen wow just another beautiful fall lake early this morning quite cool temperatures climbing into the mid -70s

In Virginia, north bend are 95 after route one in spotsylvania, broken down tractor trailer blocking the right lane at mile marker one 24.4 so watch out for that. Further north on I 95 near. At this point, the rappahannock river bridge. That's where we had the crash activity after room three along the left side of the roadway completely on the left shoulder, but of course it's drawing some attention there. Southbound I 95, you're off and on the brakes anywhere between lorton and triangle with your traveling to open. If you traveling in montclair, waterway drive, near northgate drive you're under police Rex for that crash, I don't loop of the beltway looking pretty good as you leave mcclain headed toward Alexandria in a loop slowdowns approaching the toll road headed toward the Georgetown pike, but you're traveling available by about 66, leaving the beltway delays toward one 23. No problems being reported in Maryland on the beltway in prince George's county, but seeing pockets of volume on both flips of the beltway between college park and oxen hill were to travel in to open, eastbound route 50 headed toward the bay bridge delays, approaching cape saint Clair toward the eastbound spin the bay, taking you to the district on the westbound freeway or south by three 95 just past the third street tunnel. So again, just use caution. Two 34 dumfries road southbound between country club drive and Exeter drive that have been closed for several hours due to a serious crash owner investigation. 66 westbound there was a crash just before the work sound between the fairfax county Parkland route 28 they did have all traffic diverted into the service roadway at the fairfax county Parkway to ride that service roadway to get around the crash cleanup and back into the into the main lanes to get past the works and remember in that work zone you're actually getting by one single lane to the left so as you come off the service roadway you will have to merge very far over to the left side to get into through traffic there. So do so very carefully. Virginia valley in a loop that you had north Arlington boulevard towards 66 single left language you buy between 7 and a toll road or to a point beyond the toll rate single file right, add a loop headed south to the GW Parkway toward the toll road to right lanes past the work zone. Northbound I 95 delays leaving route one and sponsor Vania headed toward route three in Fredericksburg, but that's it as you continue toward the Springfield interchange in one I three 95 northbound going up to and across the 14th street bridge. Of course, sits at Sunday, you express lanes are appointed in the northbound direction. No problems in Maryland on the beltway through Montgomery and prince George's counties, northbound BW Parkway delays, leaving green belt road head toward powder mill road the crash in between may have a single lane getting by north down on the BW Parkway as you head toward powder mill road, traveling I 95s in pretty good shape. No problem on route 50 between the capitol beltway and the Chesapeake Bay bridge you're traveling to open and available there. If you're in Maryland on to 70 in good shape leaving Frederick headed toward Rockville, traveling on three O one northbound, looks pretty smooth, but sound bound three O one after two 14, the left lane blocked for the work zone, so watch out for that. Otherwise, in Croft and it's four 24 davidsonville road, south of Rita road, follow police direction for the crash investigation there, traveling in the district southbound D.C. two 95 on the brakes as you head toward east capital street, delays on southbound on three 95 while the westbound freeway as you head out toward the case bridge when traveling to open and available and running pretty decently. "Com. Identity theft protection starts here. It's 1138. Traffic and weather on the 8s. Let's go to Joe Fox in the WTO traffic center. Rich we're looking at the remains of the car fire on 95 northbound past the car rest area, got a lot of folks on the scene there. A lot of flashing lights. So folks are doing a great job. Even though the left lanes are open, you're staying at the right, given those folks room to do their job and clean up the remains of the car fire and possibly any phone that was sprayed there. So it looks like we're in good shape. You are moving well. Northbound 95, this will be at about the one 56 mile marker after about two 34, headed north past or towards Potomac mills. Southbound any remnants of the crash that we had is completely gone. So we're in good shape, headed southbound. And this is not enough now to cause a distraction hit of southbound further through Prince William county. So only northbound has a very minor delay as you're headed past the car rest area. Again, just stay to the right, give folks room to do their job. A little bit farther north, we do have the ramp from the fairfax county park where we are at two 86 in newington closed to get on to 95 northbound. You want to use back road as your alternate to head up towards old key and mill and that'll get you on at the Springfield interchange and you can pick your direction from there. No problems on 66 or the capitol beltway itself, not seeing any overnight road work there just yet. The Maryland beltway also looking good. We're moving well in Montgomery and prince George's counties, route 50 out towards the bay bridge is going to be a single single lane one, two way traffic across the westbound span. That's the three lane span, so plenty of room to get across the bridge, no wind warnings or anything there tonight. So you'll be moving well. No problems on 95 at the BW Parkway between the beltways. Defining Patriarchy and the 4-Step Journey to Divorce It
"When we use the word patriarchy, we define it as a complex structure of ten pillars of interconnected legal, social, cultural, political and economic systems. These systems are economy and work, education, family, food, government, health, law, marriage, military and religion. When we refer to the patriarchy, we are talking about this superstructure and any or all of these systems. The patriarchy is not a person or a gender. Rather, it's a superstructure of power that organizes and operates to protect and privilege its primary beneficiary, males. The problem with patriarchy is a problem of inequality. The critical project of the patriarchy is to be and to maintain absolute power. Both male and female can be agents, beneficiaries. Male is primary, female as secondary or tertiary if at all and benefactors of the patriarchy. The existence of the patriarchy depends on two things. One, agents or individuals willing to be in its service and two, that no competing structures threaten its dominance. The diversity of identities factor into understanding the way individuals and groups experience patriarchy, which occurs at the intersections of race and ethnicity, religion, gender, nationality and economic class. This means that the way a Black American middle class Christian woman experiences the patriarchy may be radically different from a Persian American middle class Muslim woman. Although the patriarchy has been a dominant structure around the world since the existence of settled agriculture, like all structures, what has been constructed can be deconstructed. Okay, so now that we have a common definition of patriarchy, let's go a step further. What is the act of divorcing patriarchy? To divorce patriarchy is a four -stage metamorphosis of becoming. One, make an informed decision to break from an identity formed from the structure of the patriarchy. Two, you break from being in service to the patriarchy. Three, you commit to living a life outside the patriarchy. Now these three steps will begin your journey. And four, you take the first step toward and finishing mile marker one. This is the process to divorce each of the 10 pillars of the patriarchy. So potentially you may need to complete this process 10 different times. And for some of us, we might have to go back and do it again. It's common to believe that there is no life outside of the patriarchy, that you are destined to absolute dependency and obligatory servitude of the patriarchy. This type of malevolent thinking has ensnared society in a dark space of warring factions of individuals and groups with identity issues at war with itself and each other. People are suffering. They are angry. People are searching for a place where they can thrive, where they can do well, where they can raise their family and health and wellness. Because what's happening now for many of us is not working. And we find ourselves at a loss, not knowing who we are outside of the patriarchy. I'm here to testify that there is life beyond the patriarchy. And I posit that life beyond the patriarchy is where your story really begins.

"Yeah you kind of see outweighs and then it became very thick pine tree for it like under a mile and okay. That's that's like nice. And i heard birds and his loving it. And i was walking out having a good time and then all of a sudden the birds stop and it got real quiet like really i i. I don't know why again got really a raid and like this is the first time this is the first time i felt this afraid since i saw that. That that the demon after ties. I i just got that much. Fear in me to the point where i just started sprinting. I was like fuck this. i'm out. i'm sorry. I can't When i was i i get out and i i don't run. I hate running. And i ran like three or four miles. I got to like a mile marker. And that's how i knew i book in it but there was still very dense forest on the side. It's kinda like the trail. Snakes away from the county road for three or four miles. And i i was like okay. I'm i'm done. I pulled up my map or my phone getting spotty reception. I'll just check it now. And so i went The highway intersected with this road and The trail also because they were going parallel intersected with this road and so i saw the road and i was like yes. I'm taking this view thing And it was away from the highway. But i i had to turn right kind of more towards the Then pine tree side of the trail. And that's when. I took that ten mile detour and i walked past that whole point and i made a giant new basically to go back. 'cause i was done i didn't wanna continue this trail.

The electronic signs that are all over the interstates and I'll tell you what, they're a good thing to have. If you're traveling somewhere didn't have them back in the day and of course, A lot of times you get stuck in an accident or get stuck somewhere on a highway and never know why for hours and hours and hours. But there's one thing I don't like about the electronic signs. I'd like to think it's an easy. Fix it tells you where an accident is mile marker. X just before exit X. But it doesn't necessarily tell you the name of the month. Now, it's one thing when you're travelling on the highway and you've been paying attention to exit numbers, you know what the number pattern is? But when you're driving locally, it'll tell me here. There's an accident right before exit 214. I've lived in Nashville, fifteen years now and I could give you what exit 214 is to this day. I don't pay attention to exit numbers in the town. I live in. I know the names of the exits. Could we have both of those on the electronic signs? I know it's silly and I know it's simple but would make life a whole lot easier.

Your Next Dive - Key Largo
"Last year my goal was to do a segment of your next dive where i featured key largo dive mecca here in the united states. I wanted to time this segment for just after we returned from key. Largo in april of two thousand and twenty. Well we all know how that turned out. We did not get there and again in two thousand and twenty one. We were not able to plan out an excursion as we would have hoped to. Two thousand and twenty two however is on the horizon. But i didn't wanna wait any longer to talk about key largo so here we go with your next dive where we travel to key largo florida. I think i've mentioned it before here on the podcast that my first is after getting a certification where with it's a dive located at the marriott hotel on the overland highway in key largo and it was fantastic. How about your first real dive being on a real historic wreck the city of washington a ship that was in havana harbor when the us main exploded and sank now. There are many reasons to choose key largo as your dive destination. Especially if you live in the eastern part of the united states first off. It's easy to get to. You can either fly into fort lauderdale. Which is my preferred airport. As i find it logistically navigate or miami which is a little closer to key Key largo you just hop in your rental car. That is if you can find one these days and head on down now. Let's talk a little bit about the dive. Operators in key largo as you can imagine being to dive. Mecca that it is. There are quite a number of operators to choose from it's a dive at the marriott is no longer operating but i will talk about two of the operators. I'm familiar with. They are horizon divers and rainbow reef now right after only a couple of months. After i did that first trip to key largo i returned and at that time. I drove with horizon divers back. Then they were located in marina at mile marker one hundred of the overseas highway and that was right next to the courtyard by marriott. Which at the time was a radison. It was very convenient to roll out of bed. Get a quick bite to eat and stroll over to the dive. Shot horizon has moved however and they are now located on the overseas highway at mile marker. One oh six. That's the dive shop in a retail store. Their boats are located about a half a mile up the road next to a place called shipwrecks oceanside now rainbow reef has taken over the old horizon diver facility at the mile marker one hundred marina additionally they also bought out ocean divers on the other side of the marina and have quite a large operation. Now the last time we were in key largo. We stayed at the courtyard and dove with horizon. We were going to go back to key. Largo in two thousand twenty and planned to die with rainbow reef. We didn't make it down there now. If you're looking to do more technical diving then. I think horizon divers maybe a better choice for the shallow reefs that i like rainbow reef might be a good option as they have those big forty six foot newton dive boats now. I have to admit that. I've never done the deeper wrecks down there like spiegel grove. Where the dwayne bid. But i love the shallow wrecks like the city of washington. The hanan bell. Also known as mike's wreck and especially the ben would. They are teeming with fish life and are great places to do fish identification and surveys. You can also experience of great dives on elbow reef molasses reef and french reef another great shallow dive through the book spurring grove. Karl is christ of the abyss. Dry rocks you can grit some great photo opportunities there. The water temperatures in key largo range from the mid seventies in the winter months to the mid eighties in the peak of the summer. When i dove in april of two thousand and nineteen. I was pretty comfortable on the shallow reefs with my three millimeter wetsuit. Only wanna do to morning dives. You can free up your afternoons for some topside adventures. A trip to reef headquarters Is interesting or you can take a tour of the coral restoration foundation and just down. The road is the history of diving museum in l. morada. I was really looking forward to getting to the museum last year and hope that i can make it down there next april. Talk about the dining. While if you're staying at the courtyard on the marina you don't have to get in your car and drive someplace you can just scroll stroll over skippers doc right on the marina. They have some great conch chowder. There and if you want a burger or some pub food than walk a little bit further down to dr sharpies shark bite grill. You'll probably run into some of the dive staff there hanging out now. Another great place to eat is the pilot house and that's located right near the coral restoration foundation very close by and and if you're in the mood for pizza then upper crust pizza at mile marker one zero one point six. Just make sure it's not. Wednesday is their closed. We made that mistake. So as i wrap up this segment. If you've been diving in key largo. I hope that you will agree that it is really a cool place to dive. And if you've never been there. I would encourage you to consider putting a trip there on your counter. I regret having taken fourteen years between visits. I'm not gonna make that mistake again.

Accomplish the next thirty days? What are we going to accomplish in the next sixty days? What are we going to accomplish in the next ninety days? Notice I say next thirty next sixteen next ninety reason why next three next sixteen next ninety or important to me because I'm not GonNa just wait. The next period before I deliver that I'll anger try to deliver those things as soon as possible. But these are the things I want to accomplish in the next thirty days. Next Sixty S next ninety days you've heard me talk about this before in the design backward execute going forward. So if I know that I need to get a contract and in order to implant something I've going to have to get a contract. So my implementation gate is on. must do simple math your wonders in December. In order to implement on December I probably have to do some kind of proof of concept or some kind of soft launch is called the soft launch radio soft launch inside the organization to make sure things work technically. So I'm to back this up another seventy S. so now were November seven contract people were can hand. That's just if we're gonna hit everything on time. Now beyond that I've got to agree to the terms early in the contract well, that might take a couple of weeks depending on who is going to be involved. We have to give people from purchasing to get people from. Other groups do have to get the technical people involved who else needs to be part of. So what we want to have in here is an implementation plan that gets us all the way to December I kinda walks out what is that entire period look like so then we know that we at least we're nine point where we're talking about something. Let's say October first the likelihood getting that deal done is actually really really low. So if you WANNA deal done and you want to get something implemented I December probably need to be talking with those folks those folks in getting organized around things by the first of October. We don't have that place in the likelihood of US getting that deal done pretty low now if we got longer. Amazon, weighing pregnancy against productivity, fired 7 expectant mothers (The 3:59, Ep. 555)
"The. Welcome to the three fifty nine. I'm Ben FOX Ruben, I'm forgetting Joni Sawssen, Amazon warehouse jobs have been viewed negatively for years with activists unions ex employees describing these positions as fast paced difficult and subject to close monitoring CNN decided to look into what it's like to work at some of these locations when pregnant Alfred what did you find out? Yeah. So we dug through seven of these lawsuits, and if you're not familiar with most Amazon cases, they'll bring up the arguments against Amazon saying that, you know, we're not allowed to use the bathroom for more than like ten minutes day. We can't really take that many lunch breaks while for these pregnant workers in their lawsuits, they say that it's much worse for them because they have to use the bathroom a lot more doctors or saying that they can't lift anything more than twenty pounds or climb ladders. And then shortly after that in all these cases that we found all these workers were fired. Even after asking accommodations. So we looked at seven different cases. What happened with most of them? M- most of them. They ask for the accommodations, and they didn't get them. And then within a few like weeks, or in one case, it was less than a month after they were essentially fire. There was one case out of New Jersey where a pregnant woman went to the doctor after having the flu, and they told her we're having a hard time. Detecting your child's heartbeat. So she you should take two or three days off the rest up from the flu. So she gets a doctor's note. And then she gives it to her managers, Amazon and human resources tells her we don't accept doctor's notes. And then four days later, she's fired. This is a very similar case. And all the other lawsuits that we've looked at. So are we expecting Amazon to respond in any way or have you? What have you heard from the company and an Amazon spokeswoman reached out to me and had told me that you know, they do have all these programs to accommodate a pregnant workers and their. They denied that. They would fire anybody just for being pregnant. Yeah. Either way I'm going to do a pretty hard pivot here. We're gonna talk about the Tribeca film festival which came to New York over the past week. Right joan. Yeah. And it included a bunch of immersive storytelling experiences. Joan you went to all of them that all of them. Yeah. So Tribeca film festival has an immersive element immersive program which this year constitute thirty five whether you know with a couple of others here, and there weren't directly. I went to the all of them, which I've never done at a film festival, which took a lot of dedication. But I was you know, I was able to I was able to pull through for seen it. So one of the interesting things that you mentioned in your story is Tribeca is really important kind of mile marker to talk about where we are an immersive storytelling. What did you see or what did you find out kind of one of those things where the future looks very promising relating to this? I feel like these festivals. Always give me an impression that's really positive of where this kind of storytelling can go and nobody else ever got to see it. So everyone else take on like like VR stupid. It's over report even began. But it was like you don't get to see the close stuff because most people don't get to see. But what I will say about this year. I thought it was really interesting that you're starting to see the kind of like a both ends of the spectrum things are really kind of hitting their stride the companies that have been doing it for a while. And our well-funded have really sort of like reached the point where they know what they're doing. And so they can do interesting things well with polish and at the other end of spectrum people that have never tried it before it's becoming more accessible for people that don't have a ton of money. You know, there was one of my favorite experiences was made by a bunch of aboriginal highschoolers, which is somebody the almost never seen media period. Let alone usually expensive to make like ritual reality. So I thought that was really. Interesting. When do you think that more people are going to experience these types of things when is it going to become little more mainstream where it's not just the folks that go to these film festivals that actually get to feel this kind of creators, especially in the Tribeca film festival this year. There was a lot of kind of cautious optimism about Facebook's Oculus quest coming out. It was announced in the midst of Tribeca film festival and a lot of people that are creators, they feel frustrated that headsets haven't taken off to the greed that they had hoped they would. And there was sort of a cop just optimism that maybe the Oculus quest is finally sort of the mainstream acceptable headset that will allow people to see what's cool about VR. But also allow them to do it without having to have really expensive, computer. And all these wires hanging off you it's definitely cheaper. But it's not cheap. It's four hundred dollars. But it is a standalone VR side. So that is definitely interesting that that's the chatter last really quickly Microsoft is hosting its build conference in Seattle showing off some of its newest developer. One of them that I wanted to point out. It's for Cortana the company said, it's working on making the voice assistant, more conversational. I think is interesting because Google Amazon trying to do the same thing.
