The Cultural and Ecological Implications of the Salep Orchid Trade
"Take those steps in and do something professionally with your career to actually. Contribute to the world of conservation, which brings us to the topic of Salad, and if anyone listening has heard of salad at all is probably as an ingredient, which is interesting. Because often times I hear people saying, Vanilla is the only culinary viable orchid on the planet, which is not true. So let's talk about sal up what is it? What is it used for, and where does it come from? When Salad Salad? Actually, it's not only an arcade ashamed Larkin it's like a big group of four kids. If you go through literature, you can find more than thirty five species. SLEAFORD Silane it's also depending on when a whether you are what exactly two different species or group species in Greece different one in Turkey or other countries. So when we talk about the If we see all the countries together faced in weekend, say that the most common once belonged to Janet like or he's like that filariasis also mccown. And infected, maybe it's off races when. So what's smoke one between solid core kids as their root system they most often have obeyed Bob's or? Huber's along one that look like little fingers. If. You see those on the rises. So this is actually a a salad porchet and being driven is coming through the dried and ground Cuba's that's what you get the. Fowler and the Susan Shelley Different. If you see, for example, in Greece, they like days they're just washed with water and dry. But if you go to Durkin also boy in either walking on me, it depends on very Jim. So that's what's giving you the final product of salad father. In what is sell generally used in? I mean, if someone's looking to see if it's an ingredient, what kind of food are they looking at generally or is it a lot just like the orchids that gives us it If you look at it as any greeted Bailey actually there are a lot of things you can find it most often is the traditional beverage. Back. The. Actually it's not always clear product that sometimes makes the cornstarch. Bob Is the one that you make the beverage hot beverage also techie you can find the acid thickening ingredient for they additional ice cream called on the. One that stick you on. an increase is also used or traditional ice cream, but this call, Kai Mikey by this mixed with mustard powder. The one that comes from the must be healthy. So this is more I don't mind. And less. But issue see that he starts Suzanne Masters you can not a fine sapping the most stains places even as an ingredient or bombs. So. Mrs I leave. I much. Boy. While an okay. So these are all terrestrial orchids for anyone that's not familiar with the Genera, and when you talk about harvesting routes, that immediately brings to mind issues that we have with harvesting plants here in North America for instance, panics and high dressed us. Those are two plants that are highly sought after further routes, but the very act of pulling up a plant. By. Its roots kills it right. So this is where you can kind of see the connection with conservation. If you're harvesting the roots of a plant, you're you're taking its life away from it right and so that's where you start to come into issues with biodiversity endangerment with a lot of these orchids correct yet because the production of Saleh Pro Juarez, the use of the entire. Plans. So basically in the overwhelming majority of aces harvesting salad means the destruction of the orchestras selves. Now to make one kilo solid requires a by two and a half thousand plans. To the half thousand individuals, Wallin kilo. Of. Salam powder ouch. Yeah. That's a lot of orchids. Now, if you think about one cup of sal but of the equivalent to Cappuccino or something but drinking salad beverage. you need five grams for that. So if you do the math works as Iran thirteen plans for a single cup of salad drink. Does a pretty expensive kind of process in terms of of orchids. and. There are certain people told you know taking one of the to chew birds and putting the other back but all this is all this is just talk really because the amount of work required harvesting these things it's very hard were, and that's one of the reasons why are studied we found a lot of people that actually stopped elected. Elected Saleh. But It's a bypass were talking about something between. Ten. In Turkey and the launch ed very variable. The amount of used something between twenty and AC tones in a single year. Yeah. And that I remember talk from Professor Cramps Zeke, he mentioned that every year and thirteen one, hundred, twenty, million arcades are being kids in order to produce missile of the year. So it's like a tremendous amount of individuals and as able say that it is like you're actually bringing up a whole mountain that say a huge number. Yeah and again, we wouldn't be talking about conservation here. If this was something that was produced agriculturally, right these are all being taken from the wild they're harvested and those numbers are mind blowing I had no idea what we were getting into when. We started talking about this just in terms of quantity and like you said, it's not just the fact that they're pulling these plants out of the ground and them for this it's your digging the whole time you're also disrupting habitats and that's something I never see talked about when it comes to harvesting foraging anything like that is the fact that if you're digging things up your

"It was it was really good. All right. Well, we're ten minutes and we haven't gotten to the crux of what Jack wanted to do during this. Well, listen. I had an idea, but I still have questions about things going on because you guys took a flight to New York. And I want to know how the experience was because there's people like me that are Syria on a plane still like how was it was it cleanly did you feel nervous? What was the experience? So I will say we were. We flew jet blue and they were really good. There was no one sitting in the middle seats in our flight was almost empty. So it was very very minimal as far as capacity goes. They didn't serving food, which is super responsible because they don't want people taking off their masks. Exactly, but they didn't tell us in advance of course, worth is. Key. They didn't serve alcohol either. No drinks zero drink little tiny bottles of water water and a Granola bar gave us and cheese at, but they were whole-wheat so. Now, they do that on. Delta, they do the whole wheat she's it. She's it. I have like a gripe with any thing that tries to like. Really mess with their original. Recipe. That's delicious like a cheesy. I wanted to something healthy to eat thin. My. If I wanted cheese it. I want she the whole wheat part of the cheese is not making it healthy but that's something that like passed me would be like, yes, I'm being healthy and this doesn't count because it's a whole wheat cheese when it's really just as bad for regular cheese. So just the. And I will say though that the flight. From Gate to gate and actually gay to our luggage was the fastest I've ever gotten from Los Angeles to New York. Because there's nobody on your plane there's nobody on the plane. There's no, there's no air traffic there's just nothing it's just you're up and you're down and then you get your your luggage super-quick and then you're out the door did you guys feel nervous on the Pie? was there anybody taking off their masks or being? Naughty. No I think it was. It was pretty, pretty cool. Pretty delightful. That's good I. Guess that makes the flying ex but here's the thing. It's like some people are like my flight was impact. People were like sneezing all over each other. It's like you just never know until you get there. Yes. You never know for sure when our stuff was booked because it's connected to like corporate production situation it's like they would only book us on a flight that had. No booking middle seats and things like that. So for us, we felt good about it. We also knew we were quarantining mandatory. We don't even have a rental car at the House for staying at because it's like you're not leaving the house we had two weeks. So Heaven Forbid we were exposed we're not gonNA make anyone else sick right where really abiding by the mandatory two weeks quarantine period. So he felt good about it and we're lucky because I know a lot of people don't have the means quarantine for two weeks after they get somewhere. I will say that the New York state contact tracing team has been pretty fantastic. You know they check in with us. They've called us they send texts every day saying symptoms are not rally on it. Yeah. You have to sign up for something to do that. Yeah. So once you get off the plane, you have to fill out a form have to yeah. You Hard New York in a box. Yeah when we landed. In the contract tracer called Billy I and then she called me and I. It's funny. We were working when she called and I ended up on the phone with her for like thirty minutes and they're like well. Why are you on the phone with her for so long and I was like, well, she asked me what I was doing and I said, you know I explained this true crime thing. And she actually ended up, she knows a serial killer who was arrested and convicted and she started telling me about it no way. Yeah and then she was like Oh did a third per- did everyone in your household get called me yet and we said no one's missing and she called the other guy. Today. And they ended up connecting over like the grateful dead because she used to travel the grateful dead and it was like Oh. My God with our one contractor at at the New York Health Department. That's how lonely. You need outside human contact that you're like please. It's really funny. So No, I mean they're being very vigilant here in New York. We're also being very vigilant to not. Perpetuate any hypothetic goal contamination but you know we've been super safe and it's it was a very safe process you know and it's why the New York numbers are better than like we're in California I know. California they don't have a context tracer. Do they is that just New York. Well, this thing it's just this thing. California's a really bad state. So New York I don't think they're calling everybody. They called us because we're from California the number. We don't have it under control and they said because when they called us, they said, you know you're from a state with that's considered a hotspot state. So yeah because they wouldn't have the man and woman power to call. In 'cause they call us every day. That's so crazy. I didn't know it was that like intense yeah. Yeah. They're not. They're not messing around but because we're following the rules, we like it her name's I'll give first name. Her name is Barbara She's been. My New Best Barbara maybe she can be a first degree like how isn't that the premise of the podcast where it's like what's funny is that she she told me about this serial killer I'm not going to talk about it yet because she's like you can't say anything I'm like Ma'am I won't say anything and but she she immediately got paranoid that she'd said do much and I was like Oh give me Barbara not going to expose you Barbara don't worry I'll his listen because she literally she's Google Issues Really Funny Well Barbara if you're listening, we love you please think about you know being our. I agree on a PODCAST COMING UP I. Would be interested, right? It's GONNA be okay. It's GONNA be okay. Okay. Well I think we called Enough Time Yeah Yes sixteen twenty seven. Job Billy..

"His possessions. One testified that Eugene and Jeremy Wanted to borrow his truck to retrieve an entertainment stand and such a stand had been left behind at the murder scene. Another testified that Brown phoned him the day of the murder and offered to sell him a television set like the one that was missing from Mikey's house. The surveillance tapes? The shopping spree were played in court picking items and leaving the store with shopping bags like they didn't have a care in the world as Mike is bound body was decomposing a grain silo. In fact, when Jeremy Browne was arrested, he was actually wearing some of the luther that he's scored during his sears shopping trip. A new pair of Levi's jeans but the cardinals shirt and a cap. He bought these things with the hard earned money. The mikey had been saving for years. The rest of the items purchased with Mikey's credit card found in Mary weavers basement where Eugene and his wife Selina were staying. So it's no surprise that people capable of such a heinous act started pointing the finger at one another attempt to distance themselves from their involvement in the killing itself. Suspect Allan Hosie in pleaded guilty to first degree murder and residential burglary. He was ultimately sentenced to twenty seven years in prison. And he agreed to testify against his CO conspirators in return for reduction of his sentence to twenty years and transfer to a medium security facility. Salima surgeon pleaded not guilty but was ultimately convicted of first degree murder. And she was sentenced to twenty-eight years imprisonment. She later agreed to testify at Jeremy Brown's trial in return for reduction of the charges against her. Brought down to residential burglary with a sentence of fifteen years. Now, Jeremy Browne was found guilty of first degree murder and given a seventy five year sentence for his role in Mikey's killing. And then last but not least, there's Eugene Who is the man who grew up playing with? mikey's little sister, Laurie. He's the man who worked with Mikey at the Ponderosa Steakhouse. He was convicted and sentenced to fifty years. Mike you sister, Laurie had moved from granite city to Chicago but she drove down for as many of the court proceedings as she could. And during one media interview outside the court lawyer described her brother as quote the Swedish Soul I've ever encountered in my whole life. If any of his siblings needed shoes, Michael was there if any of them needed money for field trip, he was there. He also showed his brothers and sisters that hard work could go along way toward pulling them through difficult times but you had to suffer at someone else's hand because they were selfish because they decided to commit a crime and because they needed some extra cash. The reason that he left work early was he had invited my mom to come over that night never gonNa Watch, something on my mom said, she didn't go because she wasn't feeling well, and she's like, can you imagine if I went she might she goes Achey mayve even may have either saved them would be too. They're actually really people out there that really. Will just kill people like you hear about people murdered in getting killed. But hearing about. It. Kind of scared me. It was scary I was scared for my mom. Living there just makes the disconnect to placing just killed them like. Caved into chair title it's what? Nobody should have to experience anything like that. Like you could just take what you wanted. You know what I mean. Whether, you need to like. Maimed killed them like make them suffer? And they're just. Brains don't function I. Guess. Properly It was surreal that he was dead. With. He was just there. and seeing him. All. Goodness in the smiling and happy excitement. mikey Keller was forty years old and only weeks away from his first plane ride weeks away from his first chance to gaze at the ocean when his life was callously brutally taken away. The perpetrators maintain that this horrific act was motivated solely by robbery. Many believe that if you read between the lines, the extreme violence and tortuous components were indicative of deep rooted hatred and intolerance. The future was not all that the slayers took for Michael Color they took everything he worked hard for they took away even the simplest pleasure like putting his toes in the sand. May Not be a constellation, but in death Mikey at the very least.

Following Eugene's confession, he agreed to lead the police to where they had hidden Mikey's body. They get rat Mikey in sheets. And blankets and a rug. He was tightly wrapped up in duct tape as well. They dumped him in an abandoned grain silo where you gene had played as a little kid. As Mikey's body was taken in for autopsy officers work to get the other conspirators into custody. They. Also started processing the multiple crime scenes for evidence it took inventory of the items these monsters stole from the sweet man. Meanwhile word of Mikey's murder started spreading his loved ones and throughout his network of friends. which is how our first degree Tommy found out. I. How he treated other people? And does not just sucked. GotTa. Nobody deserves to die that way. Tommy's right. Mikey did not deserve to die this way nobody does mikey's autopsy reveal that has cause of death was the result of multiple stab wounds, slashing and cuts. He had a huge gash from ear to ear under his neck and he'd countless stab wounds. The amount of wounds did not seem to align. With the reason, the suspect said he was killed. All over a big screen TV just wasn't really adding up he was stabbed so many times with such force the blade of the knife that was primarily used to kill him at broken off inside of his body lodge between two vertebrae deep within his back. and. Once this happened the killer had retrieved another life to keep going and if you ask people like, Tommy, and others who are familiar with the mindset of many granite city residents many believe that robbery was not the only reason for Mikey's unusually cruel murder. They believe that his sexuality how to hand in the vicious attack on his life. He's very bashful, very shy, very humble. Very softspoken like I just like. Thought of somebody doing what they did to him. Or anybody that stat like frail like is not somebody that you do that too. It's like you just push them down and take what you want and. You have to. Like. It's like just take it and give it to you. It's like, why do all that? And mind actually went immediately to maybe big thing you and maybe just because. He was gay maybe it was a hate crime I dunno just didn't make any sense. Their rest of all four perpetrators. Eugene. Led Police to the location where the other piece of the murder weapon was located Jeremy. Browne had toss it in the bushes following the disposal of Mikey's body. Other evidence was recovered as well. Including surveillance footage of the four suspects going on a shopping spree at sears. Credit cards they bought four hundred dollars worth of tennis shoes Saint Louis Cardinals Jerseys and baby clothes. As we've mentioned, there were four defendants in this case. So to put it mildly, there were a ton of corporate seatings that we won't bore you with. As far as all of the details are concerned but here are the broad strokes of the evidence against the four of them as far as the trials for the accused the most damning piece of evidence was Eugene's confession. And witnesses were called to testify painted a picture of a planned burglary and the suspect seemed completely remorse last following Mikey's killing. Almost, as if they felt entitled to his life as they did to.

"So the search for Mikey had now taken on a sinister tone. Where could he be and what could have happened? So the police had no idea where to begin the search for him was making a new relationship was he guy who liked to party? No one knew where to start but with the police did now is that Mikey drove oldsmobile sedan, which was now missing from his house. So the best place to start was to issue a Bolo and instruct patrol officers to keep an eye out for this vehicle, and of course, the hope is that they could find the car and then find mikey which would hopefully be imminent after locating this vehicle. So lucky for them it wouldn't be long before police got a hit and it was Wednesday night when the police found Mikey's Oldsmobile only three blocks from his home. It was an isolated parking lot behind an apartment complex. So the close proximity of Mikey's car to his home only being three blocks away. It was really perplexing. What does this mean and where was he? The police examined the vehicle and it was spotless. So spotless, it seemed like it might have been wiped down. The officers decided to canvas the block where the carbon found. So they spoke to each person on the street that they encountered. They wanted to know if anyone had seen when the car had been parked there who had been driving, it had anyone been seen come you're going these were the questions they asked everyone. And they got the same response from everyone? No, no one knew how the car got there and no one knew who left it there. When they encountered an elderly woman named Mary. They finally got a different response. The question Mary and she casually responded that. Yes. She knows how the car got there. It had been driven there by the husband of her granddaughter. But the car had actually been parked in her own driveway I. This gave the police pause. What exactly is going on here. Mary's granddaughter was named. SELENA surgeon. And the previous day Selena and her husband Eugene Suard had driven up to Mary's home in the Oldsmobile. One of Eugene's friend was also with them. and His name was Jeremy Brown. Once trio arrived they asked. Mary. If you could store some stuff in her basement for a while. and. Mary didn't have a problem with that. So she said, yes. And then they started unloading the stuff. Inside, a trash can outside, of Mary's home. The police found numerous items that appear to have come from Mikey's Oldsmobile. Including the car's registration and a black hat that bore the inscription quote Ponderosa. So. Of course, following these new revelations, the police had many thoughts as well as many fears. Mike was not with these three people who are driving his car his carbon wipes clean items were missing from his home and there was blood in his home on the floor. So this isn't good in the situation seemed to be. Increasingly ominous. So luckily, the police were able to track down Eugene within a mere. Police learn that Eugene is twenty five years old and he had been born and raised in granite city. So some backstory here, Mike you was eight siblings. So he was from a huge huge close family. and. My little sister Laurie had actually grown up with you gene in grade school. So they played together as kids but drifted apart as adult hood craft in. So Laurie ended up moving to Chicago to become a productive member of society while Eugene started dabbling in petty crime and burglary. So. Now, Eugene was sitting in the interrogation room across from these officers who are pressing him for information. Where was Mikey? Why did he and his friends have Mikey's car and why did they have Mikey's stuff? The police already knew the answer to some of these questions. Eugene had burglar charges on his record and it was clear that he robbed Mikey's house. What was not clear was where Mikey was an while police still had hope that Mikey could be okay. The reality of the situation was really starting to set in there was a lot of blood at Mikey's house. And the sinking feeling that mikey could be dead was spreading. What started his questioning transitioned into a hard hitting interrogation. Hours went by. and Eugene finally cracked. The story he told them. was. Horrifying. Here's what happened. Eugene. New. Mikey Keller. It's not clear how well he knew him. But he did know. That, he had a massive big-screen TV. That Eugene coveted. Eugene. That Mike lived alone. And that if all went according to plan MICA, we'd be tied up at work all afternoon and into the evening. So Eugene, his wife, Selina and his friends Jeremy Brown, and Allan hosie drove to Mikey's home with the intention of robbing the hall. They parked down the street and gathered near Mikey's house the twenty one, hundred block of Benton, avenue. Selena state in the car and acted as the lookout an Alan stayed outside and also kept watch while Eugene and Jeremy broke into Mikey's home. And it was during the day it was broad daylight. Mikey shouldn't have been there. And he wouldn't have exit remember he left work early because it was slow on. Mondays. So He'd left Ponderosa Steakhouse early. Just. To go home and relax. So it turns out there was a connection between gene and Mikey you see they both worked at the PRONTO steakhouse restaurant and this is how Eugene knew that Mike. You is supposed to be working the afternoon shift at the restaurant the day the he decided to rob his home. Jeremy Gene entered the home from the back and started pillaging. Mikey's belongings and then Mikey pulled up in his oldsmobile and he didn't notice the two individuals in the car park just on the road keeping watch he was just coming home day at work at the pond rose a girl like he had done for every day for the last ten years. But when Mikey stepped inside of his house, his nightmare really began. Mike had no idea that he was interrupting a burglary taking place just behind his front door in immediately jeremy an eugene grabbed Mikey they put him in a chair and they tied him up with duct tape and electrical cords. We have to imagine that once-mighty was taped at this chair. The perpetrators must have Nolan's there was no turning back. Mike. Nizhny and he likely would identify him as the burglar to police should he be allowed to live? The minutes tick by and Mikey remain tied to the chair and Eugene and Jeremy Continue to Rob Mikey's house, and that's when there was an innocent sounding knock at Mikey's front door. Was Mike us very dear friend and his name was Larry Miller and he was just popping by for a visit popping by say hello as he's done many times before. Eugene. Then ran to the front door and held the mail slot closed Solari couldn't push it open and look inside. Jeremy held a knife to Mikey's throat and forced him to pretend everything was fine and to yell out to his friend Larry that he was just taking a nap in a comeback leader everything was fine. So Larry left his footsteps moved away from the front door and as Leery walked away. So did Mikey's last shred of hope to be saved? And trying to imagine the horror of this experience Mikey had to have known what was coming. After these men had taken all they could from. Mikey. Who is helplessly tied to his chair Jeremy Brown began stabbing him. Eugene down as Jeremy. Stabbed him in the back and in the chest and police were seriously at a loss for what they were hearing this savage murderer committed for the purpose of robbing this man, it was just inconceivable..

"Today's case takes us back to April sixteenth of two thousand one shaggy song. Angel was playing on the radio great song and the movies Bridget Jones's diary and blow were in theaters. The setting for today's case is Granite City Illinois. Granite City is home to several large manufacturing corporations. Including US steel pre coat metals Capri Sun. Kraft foods. Prairie Farms at American? Steel. And we begin today's story with our first degrees childhood and his name is Tommy and he his sister were raised by their mother in a modern family, which was way ahead of its time in a city that was dead set on being locked in the past. Granted city was a very. I'm just going to say it was a small minded town. We had a cross burning yard neighbor downstairs he was mixed his mom was way. But he was my best friend, they didn't like black people. They didn't like gay people which right there. I. Was like screwed because my mom's Day My best friends black I was raised by like some by two women. It wasn't a dangerous place to live. It was just. small-minded. We were very poor to it was like a very poor area. So. Like we mentioned Thomas Family was modern for the time and also for the place that he called Home Tommy's Mama's gay. So generally speaking he was usually being parented by two women and this was normal for him and you know we say this all the time on the podcasts it takes a village to raise kids and the village that helped raise Tommy and a sister was composed of many of their mothers friends, which included some gay couples. One of her best friends was named Mikey Keller and he became a key figure in Tommy's life. She was very eclectic her over friends were. So that's that's how I met might actually. She was always a musician. She's my mom. So she's still beautiful, but she's very, very beautiful she has young. So she was young she was in her twenties at this point she hasn't. You can choose nineteen and she just accumulated this group of. most of them were gay men. It was very a lot of fun, Mikey. Act always count on him because he lives very close a block two blocks away like if we didn't have something at home or my Mama or my mom was around or income home whatever just my sister Sheri to Donny's. And not just stearns safe there Mikey, and Donny's it's Thomas sister would go often many times. The couple looked over the siblings and their mom was busy or needed help with them deal. Smiled you choose little guy he wasn't tall and he wasn't big. He's very petite. But he didn't come off as like some gay people do that. Like Queen's. Back in your face like I'm really gay. It was almost like he didn't want people to know even though it was kind of hard for them not to tell despite his mannerisms and. Very like Mikey I don't know he's definitely a major major major person in might. Like creating who I am. Tommy childhood evolved. While he didn't know his dad in the beginning he did eventually meet his dad. And, then eventually visited his dad. Then eventually decided to stay with his dad for the remainder of high school years. And once Tommy graduate from high school he decided to become a flight attendant. And from there, he began traveling the world. Tom Got out of granite city. And began exploring a world that was accepting. That encourage diversity and creativity. He. Started building a life of his own. And then exploring the world life got busy. But he always made it a priority to visit his mom and his hometown when he could. Fast forward into. Two thousand. which would be the year before he was killed. I was a flight attendant for American Airlines I was on a layover and I was ahead like a day and then I traded a trip with somebody that could hang out with my mom for the night and when I got there, I asked her, I said, you know when's the last time you talked to? Mikey I haven't talked ended forever. I only gonNA flights ended for a couple years at that point I don't know I just wanted to was my mom's and wanted to see Mikey I donnie was around. So by this point, sadly Mikey's partner Donnie had died from complications related. HIV. And following Donny's passing. Mikey. Never. Wanted to be with anyone else. and. We mean ever again, Mikey had conviction when he said that Donnie had been the love of his life and he wasn't interested in finding another one. Okay. So back to Tommy being in town for a few days seeing Mikey was priority. So Tummy presses mom for formation about Mikey and what he was up to. So much. So what's he doing? He's just by himself. When did you see him? You know how often do you guys hang out? Let's call them. It means number I'm going to call them. Doing was doing anything. So he came over. and. When he came, he got to the place he was he was so. It just like so happy to see me. He was like I was like Oh my God he thinks I'm like so awesome like he's so proud of me. And felt ruse. Really Cool. The Night Tommy reconnected Mike, Anna's mom they all went out. They went dancing and they had an amazing time Tommy told Mikey. New Life travelling the world and it's during this conversation that Tommy learned that Mike it actually never been on a plane before in fact, he'd never seen a lot of things. Like you should come visit me I lived in Miami and he's like Tommy. I've never been on a plane and I'm like you're kidding me like we live across street from the oceans like I've never seen the oceans. Shut the hell up. You've never seen the ocean you've never been on a plane. I was excited. Because he was gonna go is going to get the get him. He'd never been out of granite city never seen anything else in the world except for small minded people that didn't like eight people following visit, Home Tommy and Mikey Start Planning Mikey's trip to Miami. He was couldn't believe it was really true. It's really gonNA happen. It's GonNa Happen I was really excited about it. I was happy that I was able to say, Hey, thank you for being there for me and my sister when we were kids now was there a lot for us three weeks later and I was on a layover at thirty six hour layover in Las Vegas. I was out with the crew had dinner. Got Back to my hotel I had miscall like the real thing was even it was my mom. So called her and she is crying. Like sobbing I'm like, what is wrong? Within the span of only a few weeks the unthinkable happened when a million years guests anyone. died or? been murdered. Like that like he was. Murray. Mikey it's like he's Making his. Age she said. Somebody Killed Mike Mike Mike. He's dead. calmed down and tell me what what's going on. You know. These people murdered, Mikey. How did this happen and more importantly why did this happen? Well, we're about to tell you. As. We mentioned Mikey Keller had lived in Granite City, all his life, and in April two thousand one he had been working as a chef at the granite city restaurant called the Ponderosa and Mike was really really good with his money and he put basically everything he had into savings. He eventually bought a house, and for the most part, he could afford the things that he wanted simple pleasures like a big screen, TV, a stereo system, and the car that he drove, which was an oldsmobile. On Monday April Sixteenth Mike Work to shift at the Ponderosa. And the day began like countless others before it. Mike you went to work at the steakhouse. He spent the day filling orders in the kitchen. But things were slow that day. So we left early he say goodbye to his co workers left the building gotten his car and drove off. The following day friends and family couldn't reach. Mikey. which was alarming because normally he was pretty good about returning calls and getting back to people. His friends eventually became. So alarmed by his radio silence that they called the police and ask them to do a welfare check. When police walked into Mikey's home things were immediately out of place. They can tell it was clear that items were missing. An in the living room, there was a space where a big TV should have been. But even more alarming. There was a large amount of blood they found in various parts of the home..
"mikey p" Discussed on The First Degree
"Welcome to the first degree, the true crime podcast that you might end up on my name Jack Panic. I'm sitting Super Far Away from Alexis linkletter and Billie Johnson, but there is sitting very close to each other almost on top of each other five. Almost, too close. Yup. Almost too close. We've kept our. Friends close and our enemies. Closer Listen Billy say that with like some kind of excitement. We kept our friends close and our enemies, closest? Yes. So Alexis and billy are officially new. York quarantining for a project and they decided to use one Mike to record today both of them on one. I've done it before jared podcasts. It's not fun. We our heads together like tweedle dee and tweedle dum messed. We are leaning into. This is who we are. Now I love it billy what day is it today? There's a lot of days today people there's the this is the most days I've ever seen in the history of the day. It's World Plato Day. Love Plato if anybody's ever tasted plato, what does it tastes like tastes like played red salt says like salt. Like should we see a little bit yeasty? Yes, it's also National Tattoo Story Day. Oh. What does it mean? Yikes that means if you have a tattoo and you have a story about it, you're supposed to people do either you want to tell any stories you're touching Alexis doesn't. I'm I own my mistakes. Once you talk about your us, do you have a tattoo that you wouldn't consider mistake? No. Not so far. The one to I plan to not to regret is one Jack is supposed to be designing for me as an as soon as it's safe to get it. I'M GONNA get it Jackson to draw for me a little the little tank that could little mini think little mini tank and I'm going to get that one but no, the to tattoos I have. Are. I'd say the big one is a regret but I haven't mostly removed then the little one. Is a regret if I'm honest about what it means. I. Know I lied to most people about what it is. All I have to say if you plan on getting a tattoo with a romantic partner, just know that it is the kiss of death. Yeah, take it from me don't do that. I told you when you showed it to me. I was like Oh. That's nice. I know. Jack I remember the very moment we were in park city go lex like you know that it's probably not gonNa work out now and I started crying I'm like no Jack Straw things are going really well I think we'd Bro. How it was literally a week later maybe ninety Vanik, Pacu Oracle of truth. How dare you? I know I'm just I'm just that good. You Know Bill. Do you want to explain any of your tattoos? Yeah. I've got a Tattoo I'll explain one of them. The one on my back is a tattoo of a Tonka truck and it says well on it and it's for my son because he was going in for heart surgery when he was like sixteen months old and all the doctors kept saying he's going to be in bed for a week. Then for weaken then one doctor said he's built like a TACO truck he'll be fine and he was up within a day running around. So I got you, I gotTa talk a truck and then I got a his scar so like where his scar is my, I have a.
The Meal Prep
"Hey everyone. It's me Lisa. Lillian also known as hungry girl I am here for another episode of Chew. The right thing with my good pals and Co workers and BFF's Mikey and Jamie Hey guys. Hello Lisa, how are you? Good. We missed you last week and we missed you last week. I mean. By we I mean me. Yeah, we were podcast last week. We had a busy crazy week. And we took a little time off I. Hope People Forgave US was anybody said Did, they even notice Regina Regina might have been sad. All Sir number. One. Fan Regina's GonNa love that shout but I'm really happy to be back. I have to say like this week's episode is so good. It's one of those episodes that we have been toying around with for a while and the requests for have just been pouring pouring pouring pouring in. So this is I like to call it the meal prep assode get it. Because it's a meal prep episode so it's the meal prep assode. And meal prepping is so hot right now and we are going to dive into. So much of what people can do to make their lives easier were answering fan questions. Is it weird to call them fans? No. It's all right. We're friends and FRENEMIES. From our hungry girl peeps and I am super excited. Are you like I know you're a big meal pepper? Yeah, I'm excited Oh good Mike you. I'm the meal prep or the family for the most part but what do you do like just like lineup jars of peanut butter is that how you meal prep much that's about. Ninety eight percent of the work is July up the jars. And the rest is knives. You have the smaller I the bigger nine for the chunky peanut butter I know. Exactly All Right Mike. I'm sorry I'm sorry for giving you a hard time time giving you a hard time and now you're going to give us. Who does sit like were there's right. Everybody Likes Workers Right Yeah Oh yeah. Okay. So they have new flavors coming out this fall. Are you ready to hear what they are share? Okay. So we got pumpkin spice, Caramel, apple and cinnamon cream, and this makes me extremely happy because I don't have the patience for hard candy. So they're going to be available in the soft choose which means. Less, work for me. Less work no, it's more work you have to get that. Out of your teeth. Yeah. That's true. Good Point. Good point I didn't do. They have soft candy now I think. So I think the don't you. I only know like workers, my grandmother who was like the cutest human being alive was obsessed with warriors and when I was young living in New York, I would drive to us every Sunday and I bring her a bag of workers and we would enjoy them. I love them and I was like looking forward to these I will try them but I didn't realize they were. Chewy. Bet really good though. Maybe, put him on top of like ice cream or something I don't know what? The not be really hard to eat. They'll be in Mike have you met us? Does that really sound like something we would do probably not something I would. Maybe. A. Well I have your weekend plans already for you. Are you ready? You know what you're going to be doing this weekend Lisa. Tell me tie dye with wine. Okay. This is the newest craze I guess in with people who are still in quarantine. So basically, what you do is you use wine as the is the die and you make tidy shirts with wine. I can link to a website on our food cast page. They'll show you how to do it. The only thing I would suggest is use a cheap bottle. You don't WanNA use like a forty dollar bottle of wine to make touch short. So get like two buck chuck at Traderjoes what about if you only use like? The white wine what if I only like Chardonnay and the House without worrying. Pattern. Do Tie I. Don't know I've been tie-dying Teen I. Think I've. I've dyed like six or. Items Minimum I made my sister birthday tie-dye pants. I've made I've taken a lot of my vintage t shirts I'm GonNa, try this I. think it sounds it sounds really fun and the best part is like if I do open a bottle of wine a very rarely finish it. So it's something to do with the wine the extra red wine that's just been sitting in your fridge. If you get thirsty, you can like ring out the extra into your mouth. As long as it's clean shirt. That's all I got. Okay. Well so let's get into the subject of the day. Subject of the day is meal prep and you know I personally like I always say I'm kind of uncoordinated in the kitchen I don't think of myself. I was like I'm a meal prep or do I have the patience to sit and prepare things and put them in cute little containers and I was thinking no, that's not very me. But when I thought about it further I was. Like that is not really what the definition of meal prepping is to me and to US Jamie and we've had this conversation philosophically. It's really anything that you can do to make your life easier when it comes to thinking about what foods you're going to be eating for the week, right? Yes. It is preparing for your meals, not necessarily just preparing meals exactly, and especially you know during this time when we are home a lot more we may or may not be. Getting takeout or bringing in food a lot of our food is being made by us like it's now is the best time ever to start thinking about what you can do to make your life easier. So you don't fall back and make that phone, call an order that pizza in or just grab something that you might not be happy that you ate afterwards. So the best thing you can do is really thinking advance about what you can keep on hand how you can. Either prepare it or how you will prepare it, and so you're ready for anything. It's
Zadie Smith Interview
"I've known her almost twenty years. I interviewed her for MTV two and white teeth was out and it's been a thrill to watch Zedi grow and operated a public intellectual dropping great novels and Dope Essays and showing herself to just be a really interesting person to listen to I mean putting the also of her accident aside in person ladies as smart and it's fun is her greatest books and she's disarmingly humble in a way that just makes you want to root for her success. So settle in I asked her to talk to me for an hour and we sat there for two. We sat there in our studio at seventy eighth and Broadway and just. This is the most fun episode I've had yet so. I'm. Proud? To. Present. Eighty Smith. On tour ratio. Writing. What do you love about it? I like. I like having an artificial. Set Task To fill the day set by yourself. It's it's that's pleasant. I mean what else you can do its? Own Life and I like the idea of a series of. Tasks except myself completely unnecessary toss that nobody. Has To care about Oh but I sent them a series of books in my mind and then when they're done. I'll be done. I think everyone does that with their life is writing a very. Kind of formal way to do it I can measure out his this way. So. Do you set day go? Goals no because if I did would be very frustrated. So no but I have hopes if every day but I haven't written in months and months at the moment. I'm reading I'M IN A. Like period of reading and preparing but Preparing to start another one. Yeah. But it's much more important for me to be able to read every day them right every day I live without writing if I don't get to read I get very. antsy. Really. Yeah. So how many hours a day reading at the moment all all hours that I'm not. Raising children. So you drop them off and you go. Pick them up. So for about six thousand reading, and then I pick them up again and then after their menu read again. It's The moment is normally like that but at the moment, that's it. Yeah. What are you reading? I'm meeting a lot of stuff about. At eighteen hundreds for something after right. So it's just a of. Research I suppose nonfiction nonfiction near for the most part some novels to sometimes I. Use the bedtime reading with the children as surreptitious. Research, they don't realize it but. The reason we're reading David Copperfield. They need to know that. What are you love so much about reading. I. I really good book recently gyco fronts this with a British writer. WHO said? That actually it's kind of addiction and the strange thing about it is it's a sanctioned addictions and nobody tells you off. For reading a lot when you're a kick particularly if you're. From. A working class or emigrant home as I was everybody's very enthusiastic about it because it seems like a good sign. But what he said in his case Easel. So reading addict, he had very ill sister who died when he was young and reading for him was a way of escaping the world and I think that's always basically true I don't think children who read as much as I did when I was a child are reading because they're delirious with joy. It is a kind of addiction is a kind of escapism and and you realize it when we come to this poker I i. Go. Maybe. Five heavy books in my bag. What did I imagine? What's going to happen on the twenty two minutes away right. What did you bring? Inside Victorian. Home. A book about historical. Mikey Century Court case I lost a load of. Heavy, back books. So. I think reading is just the way I am in the world. That's how I operate and what was interesting about process book is I heard. Expressed as a kind of. Personal floor you know because if if every spare moment you have. You want to be somewhere else. So inside a booker that's. That is a little problematic actually, it's not that different from the people who want to get high off. Be On instagram. Every moment of the day is all about not being way you were
Philadelphia school district may delay return to school due to virus
"The Philadelphia school calendar says the new year starts for students August 31st but his K Y W's Mikey Narda reports Corona virus may push that date back starting a school year during a pandemic requires more support by and four school staffers, says Superintendent William Height. And he says that could delay the scheduled start of school by as much as a week. Height says one consideration will be staffers who may have experienced a loss due to the virus. I am anticipating when individuals get back and see their colleagues, there will be some emotions. That individuals are having to deal with, so there's a need to do training around well, there's a need to have supports around those things, Height says. In addition to extra training around this infection and social distancing protocols, teachers will receive guidance on equity and confronting racism. The district comes out with its back to school plan and possibly and adjusted school calendar on July
EVO 2020 was cancelled
"Yvo Twenty twenty has been canceled due to various sexual abuse allegations. Yvo Is the biggest annual fighting game tournament in the world, and even with the covid nineteen issues plaguing everyone on the planet. The tournament was soldiering on with plans to make it fully online. Earlier this week, however that all fell apart, and in order to learn more about it, I called on Imran Khan to explain everything Imron. Come into the gaming ride home show again for having me Yvo was canceled. And I just want you to give me the full story. What happened? Why was it canceled? Everything start from the beginning, so ego is the biggest fighting tournament in America Kinda the biggest in the world. There's like some discussion about that at this point, but ego is basically where fighting games have been aspiring to for the last twenty thirty years and listening started in the ninety S. This year, obviously because of covid kit have their usual Mandalay Bay Las Vegas big gathering of fighting game players. So this year they ended up canceling I place. Eve Online Eve online was a different thing where the. Mainly, got games together with like Netco like mortal Kombat eleven and them fighting her indie game that was originally based on my little pony, but basically it was A. It has to evolve brand that could stay around despite not being the big mass gathering tournament that they expect over the last couple of weeks. There's been a bigger. industry-wide movement to out sexual predators in gaming and the gaming industry, and some companies have been hit harder than that are with that bubis off for example, but for the most part it's. It's not a huge thing within the FTC. Because the FTC's always kind of had a reputation of like. Being a bit more open with their sexual harassment and it's always like. It's never been to a level of. A mass critical mass. Joey quilter this past week yesterday in for yesterday in fact was outed by a player. Named He's just does mikey. He goes online and is after the tag is crack. Peron but George Taylor. Who is the head of the current? President Vivo who founded it with Tommy Tony Kanaan. was outed for experiences when he was. Close, to twenty, where they were southern golf land, which is an amusement park in l. a.. That mikey accused him of basically. Paying money to young kids to take their shirts. Germany polls mikey related experience where he said quarter. Paid him twenty dollars to see his genitals inside a restroom and bought him pornography so. It's IT'S A. It's a larger thing that when you look at it from the perspective of not a child who just thinks they're having fun. It's real creepy, but what is conditions came out. Other people's Front, also coming out of the woodwork, saying like more finding old chaser people were talking about doing these things, but not naming names, and now that it's out. The floodgates are broken out. Yvonne immediately went. No, WE'RE GONNA put on administrative leave and check this out, so I mentioned Tom. Tony Kennedy before their more famous like they are obviously co-founders of ego, but there are more famous right now for being developers of Product L. at riot games so. They had to step in for this and go okay. We're looking at this right now. We're investigating and seeing what happens. It did not take very long before nether realm. I believe the first one like say. Are Involved with ego involvement in that sense means we don't WanNA game there. We're not going to earn any money towards prize pools. We're not doing any advertising which is fairly big deal. Arguably moral combat was like the lead game for that tournament. Right for the online tournament. Yes, Merle come at usually has a hard time with like the in person tournament. Fighting community hasn't really take to that game too well, but as an online net code game like for example, smash brothers was canceled for Eve online because the net code. Isn't that good, so this is more time to shine. The actual like really arguably was streetfighter as it is every year. This year. Are Not meeting her, but a little bit. After another canceled COP CANCELED IN ONCE CAPCOM cancels gets away from ego. Then that's that's the ballgame lets. Everything goes away soon after main sex developers of them biting heard who this is their big chance to become A. Kind of a household name and if I didn't need community, they cancelled. Bay Namco canceled and ran into that ego are the canons came out with a message from as ego saying? Hey, we were cutting for joy color. He is not president anymore. In the future, he will have zero involvement with the organization this not he's going to not be on. He's going to be on the board, or he'll be the FCC or he'll still kind of tournaments. They're cutting it off completely. Shortly after that they also that announced, we can't under these circumstances and this change in organization also do evil online in a couple of weeks in August. A month or in August? I. Know that screws over a lot of people, but. It seems like honestly the best. Call right now of. You'RE GONNA have to go through with work. That joy has done or you're going to have to. Try It's from scratch. Cobble together in event that takes at least a year to actually set up and try to get together in a couple of weeks. Yeah, I mean they just they basically. Got Rid of the boss in the most public way, possible right I mean it's it's you can't just like recover from that in a matter of weeks. Really Yeah, it's. It is one of those things of a lot of this is. Probably high time for the funding community insert reckoning with a lot of these things, because it's an issue for a number of years, it was I. I don't know if you recall but a about eight years ago, there was a street fight across capcom across Tekken. Show online, and it ended up ending as a result of some sexual harassment claims, and those a big divide in the community about like whether sexual harassment was a just a part of the culture or not and. Stuff like this doesn't help that argument. No I mean I like you, said earlier I mean like. Feels like the right call to elevate it, and as disappointing as it is for Yvo to be cancelled like it's a big flag for like we need to address. This is if we're going to cancel this event because we need to look at ourselves internally and I think I. Mean Hope the hope is that they come out better on the other side. I mean it seems like this is one of those things where. I. Hesitate to say Covid kind of save them but. If. This were an actual in person things still at Mandalay Bay then they wouldn't be able to cancer that quickly an online tournament. Shuttered a lot more easily. The bigger question now is what happens next year.
EVO Cancelled After Accusations Towards Co-Founder Mr. Wizard
"Amid dreams and the sports minute presented by e sports network. It's just the Cherry on top of what was a crappy week in sports and the game community as large ego is, or maybe I should say was one of the most prestigious events in east sports as the top event for most fighting game titles. This year, the competition and moved online due to the pandemic, but after allegations of sexual misconduct towards Joey. Cuellar the CO founder President. Eve Online has been outright canceled Kular, better known as Mister. Wizard was accused of acting inappropriately towards teenage, boys, Multiple Times mikey crack prawn fan was the one step forward. The allegations publicly after those allegations went public Capcom nother Rome and band dynamic. Oh, all pulled their gains in the event. In addition, casters players also pulled out leaving Yvo, no choice but to cancel the event Yvo says sever all ties with cooler going forward, but he was a key part of the creation of Yvo and actually decision event from its Co. founder will be difficult. Defining game community was splintered this week. This is just one of many many allegations. Put forward by various. Various members of the community for much larger conversation about what's happening this week. The myriad of allegations and the lasting effects on the FTC I've just published an east sports network podcast episode with fighting Gabe writer Danny. Howard we cover these topics in depth, my condolences and the goal of sports network go out to

The Aldi Haul Episode
"Hey everyone, it's me Lisa. Lillian also known as hungry girl. It's good to be here for another episode of the Hungry Girl Podcast Aka to the right thing today I am very excited because we are doing another hall I love. I'm getting used to these halls where I I go shopping and then I drop things at your house guys, do you? Do you love it? It's the best you're better than INSTA- cart because you actually come up with things that we didn't even know we wanted. I'm better than INSTA- cart because I don't try to replace whole wheat flour with cocoa puffs, which is what they? Feel bad, though this is like instant art, we're not tipping her. Yeah and O F Y I paid for everything. So then there's also. Today this week I went to all D. do you say all your algae? I say aldy all. He's doing a halfway thing all it also works out better, because then it's a hall. Aldy Hall Haldi your exactly. That is what we are doing today. It's all the hall. And I had never actually set foot in an all deep before last week. When I went shopping, and it was interesting, it's like I had heard about it. I know it's like a sister store to trader Joe's I did not know what to expect. I know Mikey. You warned me you said. Bring a quarter which I. Forgot to do so I had to. Find a way to get a quarter to get a card because you need to like, give a quarter deposit to get a cart, and I think a lot of the people were confused because they were like. Do I have to pay for a car? And then the woman that worked there was like yes, but I was like. No, you get it back I was butting in anyway. The store itself was interesting. It's like a smart and final meets like a dollar tree. Is that a? Is that a fair assessment? It is, but I feel like well. Certain file has good. I mean the quality's just exceptional of why smartandfinal. No of the products that all D. O. Dollar Tree? I don't think I've high value well I. Mean I don't think high quality. Okay I think that may be a misperception, because like a lot of the stuff at the dollar store believe or not there like all of your favorite companies make specific products that are dollar store versions of that product. I understand you're saying it's. Option. But you know what made to me. All feel a little cheap and I'm going to say this. It's like when you go to trader Joe's. You feel like there are magical trader, Joe's ferries, making your magical traderjoes in all the concoctions, and all their cute names, and at all de everything looks like the brand you think it is, and it's just slightly off like one of the problems we have today. It's fiber now. Instead of five one show like fiber one brand new. Walk down the aisles and you're like wait. Is that no those race? Christie no and everything looks almost a little like it. which to me makes it feel cheap well. Yeah, I know what you mean like. That's specialness of trader. Joe's like the innovators in creating, and this is just kind of like. They had someone draw something from memory and put it on the box. Yes, but that being said I do I agree I think the quality of. Of the stuff at least the last time we tried, it was phenomenal. I have very high hopes for a lot of these products. When I was shopping I, was searching for things that people told US existed at all that I should find I didn't find many of those, but I found a lot of other things that I thought were intriguing in their own right for specific reasons like we. We'll get into it and I'm excited about that, but. Before we do. What are you have Mike any news. This is pretty cool. Duncan is selling donut inspired facemasks. Okay, so three dollars of every facemask is going to go to a charity to help support health and Hungary leave for children and underserved communities, the master, only ten bucks each, and so three of that goes to charity. I sent you a picture lease. I don't know if you saw them, but the pretty cool looking. And can also share a of them on the page or and the link to buy them where you can go to shop Dunkin Dot Com. Yeah, they're really cute. They're so cute like they're the pink and Orange Dunkin colors, and they look like half doughnuts with sprinkles I think they're adorable. They just need a little slit in the middle, so you could actually eat your doughnut while wearing the math. If you're interested in these act fast because there are four different prints and one of them's already sold out. And, actually the the least exciting one the logo. "Hey everyone. It's me Lisa Lillian also known as hungry girl. I am here very excited with Mikey and Jamie is. Excited to be here with us. Yes, I'm so excited for several reasons one. I probably sound a little more clear right now because we have new fancy schmancy audio capabilities so I probably sound a little more like I'm next. You guys on thinking that. I'm as happy as I would be. Next year. And I'm also excited because this episode. Wait for it. It's our first hall in months. And not gas any hall. No, it's a trader Joe's hall and I actually I slept trader. Joe's I bought a bunch of stuff. And then what did I do I? Left it on your doorstep. It was the best surprise delivery ever. We didn't know what you guy. We just knew there was a bag of traderjoes. Yeah so we've got a whole bunch of stuff to taste, which is super exciting, because not that I. Don't love the podcast that we do, but I'm going to be honest. My favorite ones when we try foods. Are You with me? I'M NOT GONNA lie. I'm I pretty excited about them too, and I think the audience loves them I think so too, and today's podcast is also sponsored. Do. You want to know who. You! Two hundred who it's also. I already know, but it's a great sponsor, so tell us wait. You already know Jamie, you really blueberries. Today's podcast is sponsored by a bean boom. I love that name, but are being about a boom so clever. It's really fun to say it is. Let's say that for the next half hour. Being okay I'm. GonNa stop. I'm really annoying I'm GONNA give you. The history of a bean bought a boom. I. I don't know if you guys out there. Know this, but the fantastic people behind enlightened ice cream that ice cream that were obsessed with that we love. They created these crunchy snacks several years ago. They're made from roasted broad beans or fava beans, which I was unfamiliar with believe it or not like. Are you a father of being Fan Norman until I turned? I only knew of them from that movie. fava beans with. The lands exactly well. These are like it's this crunchy snack. That is incredible like they come in one hundred calorie packs. There's like thirteen flavors everything from sweet Saracho, sweet onion, mustard, zesty ranch spicy was sobbing nacho cheese. They even have sweet flavors that are great to you can eat the straight out of the package like instead of like a pretzel or a chip and you know I'm obsessed with like salty. Snacks and their portion controlled and they're loaded with protein. They have fiber. They're good for your. They're all natural there Vegan I don't even know where to stop their amazing. They're D- best. I do not know how they squeeze so much flavor and crunch into those little bits of deliciousness. And like the thing that gets me so excited is whenever there's a product that I love. It's like I personally feel responsible if people are going to invest in buy something and if somebody doesn't love it I'm like wait. You'RE GONNA love it, but in this case I have to say they're running a special that you. It's like too good to be true. You get fifty two bags individual snack bags for twenty, nine, ninety seven. It's under thirty dollars for fifty two bags. You get all the flavors I think it's like four of each flavor. which is incredible, and so it comes out to like sixty cents a bag and they call it the boombox which is. So cute. We put this in our email. The other day and people went absolutely wild, I think they sold like seven hundred and fifty thousand just kidding. They sold Laurie. There's still some left. And it's normally it's normally already a great value. But you hit that twenty nine dollar mark with the forty percent off hungry girl, special right right. Yes, and they have to use code hungry forty hungry forty, so people go to being snacks, dot com, or you can go to Hungary Dash, go dot, com slash food cast when you see that link for the boombox use code, hungry forty and get free shipping and forty percent off, which is so cool, yeah? So, so good and I have to tell you Lisa. Do you know what my favorite uses for about you I bet you could guess for about about him. Probably has to do with lettuce towers so. It's like I can't even. It's just the flavor that it brings in the crunch. It's like croutons times a thousand. I agree with you, but my favorite uses just like stuffing them in my face. Dreamy which flavor do you go to? The I think. Is there a barbecue one? You want rbq. That's my favorite. That's my. Saracho. I Nelson like the sweet cinnamon on Yogurt on Greek yogurt. It's like I. I can't even it's so good.
"Lexi make me laugh!"and other Alexa Commands
"Here a couple of things that you can say to Lexi Lexi make me laugh. That's one job so basically tell you a joke when you when you ask to do that. Here's a very interesting one that I have since enabled and it's this this command Lexi. Tell me when there's a severe weather alert and you have set up Alexi to your particular location than when you say that it will confirm back to you that yes the next time. There is a severe weather alert for cities when Mikey's maneuver it will. It will tell me when there is whether alert so that's pretty cool and I we'll do one more for fun today and this is a practical one as well if you want to learn about nutrients in particular foods you can just ask. Lexi you can say for example. Lexi are the nutrients in an apple and she'll give you all the all the highlights stats on apple's so there you go. I have some fun with

It's no longer I know now I have one get myself. A nice plug was going there. Do so go ahead give it. Mikey likes you the best health and fitness podcast in the world. Excellent and at Mikey Lights. You one on instagram and twitter So yes K. E. Y. M. I. K. E. Y. Likes you the number one? Oh you not the letter U Yes. Why just like you know? It's a play on my headed. I Mike he likes likes it. You get it. Do you notice how they have a new life. Zero commercial with a gender nonspecific. Mikey what is she is achieved or she. Mikey I think it was Mike. You helped me out with that guys. Have you seen that life? Syria maybe find it. Gary Alive Sierra it out there a new one with a kid liking life cereal and it's questionably it's like oh it's A. It's a girl this time same name. Hey gender is socially constructed. How you doing that with your daughter how you. How your wife's a Hippie so yeah so my wife's not a hippie about that stuff that I can't hear you first of all meaning like Like my wife is actually really really into gender roles. Oh she yeah she's she's you know it's weird. My wife's a weird case because she's definitely a real hippie and she loves fucking treating a truly cheering illness with flower blossom and ECHINACEA and shit like that and But my wife's dad was a Czechoslovakian Dr anesthesiologist so he was at the WHO hunted and fished and did not suffer fools so in even though my wife often the clouds many times she also really likes traditional masculine roles. And you do that and I do the female stuff and there is a difference and we embrace that you know. Just the the and are the Europeans are with all the gender stuff the depends on it. Depends on what you're talking about European because I believe in this. I'm not by any means. I'm not a sociologist. But from the from the reading I've done Places like Scandinavia. They're they're kind of on course with America and Canada were there there really pitching this new territory. Places like Scotland and Germany. Not so much they don't they. Don't give a fuck what you know. What's interesting the less rigid the more open? The more they go. Yeah that's very interesting and yet and yet. Minder standing is in Scandinavian particularly the more. Open the opportunity for women the more they gravitate to more traditionally feminine roles. It's true I mean I. I always thought at least from what I know of particularly Sweden. Yeah I always thought like the feminist super progressive people can use that. Moore's an example of when women are provided this ultimate level of terrorism. They resort back to oftentimes being mothers more. This the data is they go more in the direction of what we would call traditionally Feminine Race Right. They seem more interested. In that more relational kinds of career paths resumes. I'm sure in the studio and at Corolla digital there's a lot of bemoaning about like the modern feminist movement and I certainly have my problems with Some of the ways it's been handled but I do think that particular child rearing and how we handle it in this country. That's like one of the main areas where we can get better like the way we treat women around having giving birth and then how we take care of them after. I don't think it's right. I think we need to give them of wider berth. You'll permit me to say that word do their job and do this. And then pursue their career. Yeah part of his is Fertility technologies get letting them control fertility. Sure big faith in that. But Oh shoot I was gonna ask you something My brain this morning Having the worst time it took Melatonin last night was telling Mike. And it's making me sort of groggy. Yeah very weird. Melatonin IS IS A. I'm a big Fan but I've noticed this is all anecdotal just from seeing how different people deal with it. Yeah it varies greatly in terms of how out of nothing to wipe out your and to me it. It puts me to sleep better than an Ambien Literally doesn't keep me asleep as well. Well it it only can promise you about forty five exactly and then I wake up during. I'm ready to go and I can't get back to sleep. Oftentimes or I get about seven hours. And then I'm groggy. Yeah sometimes what I'll do because it's four or five math. A RETAKE. No retake the myth Melatonin. And then I'm F- during the day so today is one of those days so so tell me more about what you're covering it health and fitness. What's going on in my collection? Well there's a mill that's a saturated market preoccupation changes. Yes I mean. It's so crazy. What people worry about ended up SAS about it's almost exports generally in a worrying about data and stuff like that is a similar kind of feel to it. Honestly my biggest motivation for doing it was that I'm a guy through trial and error through experience and being an absolute geek about it. I've gotten to a place where I really feel like. I do know the answers. And there's so much insane. I'm just an unbelievable amount of Rone's information that people are saturated with and you see people and women just getting into the gym or just undertaking a diet protocol and obsessing about Shit. That absolutely doesn't fucking matter. You know and and and I see all the and I get emails and I get. Dm's and I get fucking tweets all day long of Peop- of a nineteen year old boy. Who WHO's maximum dead? Lift is one hundred ninety pounds. And he's asked me about working in dynamic movements into his strength training to make sure that he should be doing a third day of pause squats bench presses to help get myself out of the whole. I was like dude. You're not strong strong person. Honestly I I see a lot of people who are worrying about interior decorating before. They've even built their house right and and and bothers me and by the way some people are going to build a house that it's a mini house not gonna be a lot of interior design. No and it's not. It's not going to be music. Just lend your genetics. But at the same time I do think real real fitness real health and those are two separate issues they are but I don't think they should be because I know you and I both know. Many people men and women young and old who embody physique that you would look at and say is healthy or not for sure but but just just thirty years ago. The two were one and the same the same throw bodybuilders in the early eighties. They were healthy people but pro bodybuilders in the early nineties were disgusting. Messes still doing plenty of series word? But you're asking me for it at the gym. They didn't trust me guys who are stepping onstage. Mr Olympia Nineteen eighty-three. They're still alive. And they look all right. You know what I'm saying guys. You're stepping onstage in nineteen ninety-three overwhelming majority of them are dead yes and that's pharmacology. Yeah so let me get my own personal example myself as it pertains to health versus fitness. I'm pretty fed yet. Maintain a pretty much my whole life. Prostate cancer yeah has nothing to do with whole story nothing whatsoever. I Have Lynch Syndrome. I I'm prone to polyps and colon cancer. Nothing I can do about that except screen. And here's the here's where the really rubber hits the road and crosses over with fitness lately because added calcium screen lightly. Lo and behold my calcium score zero point zero and my vascular health is good but I've delegation myopic route from all the vowel Salva from weightlifting. Oh so maybe maybe it might just be genetic but here the sense It's right so now. The situation with all the user of heavy lifting. I'm like Fitness has caused a health problem. You see how how crosses over and it's not that I've been that excessive either. I'm not taking steroids or anything to to do this. I've just liked it now. I've got a really pay attention to how heavy I'm going to make sure I don't put an excessive trains threatened pressure on my my my Arctic Arch right but advanced advanced practices oftentimes compromise your health. And that's the point. You need to know that but that goes in many directions if you run marathons save your compromising your health if you are a professional powerlifter you're compromising your health. But that doesn't mean that John Neither jogging and be I'm pretty. I'm not sure a guy who sixty two. Yeah Okay One. Sixty one with thirty eight years of weightlifting started fourteen. Okay so so you can say I'm not a professional powerlifter and you're not a professional bodybuilder. Yes little but what you've done to. Your body is above invest. It's excessive but not really excessive but it's again where this thing crosses over and people understand same thing on wellness and mental health. That bothers me too. Yeah you pay attention to wellness and you pay attention to your mental health. Absolutely different thing. That's another big another big thing. I wanted to a little box. I wanted to check off with this. Podcast is that don't even take into consideration the fact that they're like all right. It's January first twenty twenty. I'm going to get a new. I'M GONNA lose twenty pounds and I'm going to gain some muscle. I'm GONNA look great. All of that is meaningless. If your anxiety radio depress all you know I it really and also another big factor that I didn't even necessarily anticipate becoming such a thing on alert. Tommy John Tommy John Tommy. John doesn't give an if not they don't get you have three F.'s. Fabric fit and function proprietary fabrics. That form like nothing. You've ever worn before. Yes Mike. That's right yes no guarantee comfortable stayed put we wedgie luxurious soft feather light moisture. Wyking.
Mike Bloomberg's campaign is looking to pay influencers
"The Bloomberg campaign has quietly begun a campaign on tribe quote branded content marketplace that connects like social media influencers with the brands that advertise to their followers to pitch influencers on creating content highlighting. Why they love the former New York City mayor for price price for fixed one hundred and fifty dollar fee? The Bloomberg campaign is pitching micro influencers. Someone who has from one thousand to one hundred thousand followers to create original content unquote. That tells us why Mike Bloomberg is the electable candidate who can rise above the fray work across the aisle so all Americans feel heard and respected. That's which again if you have the one thousand to one hundred thousand if you have more followers than that you can get paid a little bit better for saying why Mikey's the guy

What holds it together and I? I think that's the way I live my life. The junk is what holds me together. I like that strategy. My Dad's always said you gotta eat a peck a dirt. Before you die there you go. Yeah toughen up your immune system. Apparently you know a peck sounds like a small amount. Apparently Peck is like a big bag. By the way I can really look that up. It's like eight two packs a day the dry courts about that. That's a Lotta means a lot. There you go before you die. Avoid eating dirt. You'll you'll stay alive halfback right. You're halfway done living Scotty. When do you usually like to listen to your music too? Yeah I I try and refrain from starting to Chris. Now if your birthday so close to Christmas do you get like the crossover of birthday and call. I get screwed the House that Yup I get screwed every it's the worst. My daughter is two days. How should I handle this as a parent? How did they handle it for you? Growing up Well I kill me speak from my perspective which I would get a gift on both my birthday and Christmas but yeah I never lived the perspective. where like if my birthday was in June? Let's let's see what I get more gifts than I would or bigger remember if they weren't so close. Yeah the answer is yes. I one thing Scotty. One thing I shouldn't do is a half birthday right. We shouldn't celebrate heart in June. No anything no half a little. I want to give her her own time as opposed to always thinking Christmas Christmas while like you should have conceived different times Burger. Don't do a half birthday. Can I just tell you going on. WHO's attended a half birthday birthday? It's really an test friendship with people. I'm not doing that birthdays. I really just do. It'd be like annoying when I was invited to half birthday. Ah No lie. I had a conversation with my now wife about and we didn't do it. Obviously because the kid would suffer being the person that invited you know cutting the gift in half and giving them a gift book like like saw Bo. Yeah here you go for the hat birthdays. But she told me like this is not the kids fault. They didn't tell you to do this so we didn't cut a child's president half Rafferty but birth like November and December birthdays unlike afflicted with a lot of people in my life life. Having that my wife I people yeah. It must be something with the time that Oh my sisters birthdays at the end of November. My Wife's birthdays at the beginning of December allow how grandmothers at the beginning of December. My aunts and you know halfway through December grandmothers at the beginning December December. Time for you that would stress me out enough right there. I I mean it's it on top of just the expense. It's Kinda like I need to figure out multiple things to get everyone you know but everyone else is also trying to figure out multiple multiple things to get these people so it's like how creative can I possibly be with Gibbs. Yeah like if I have to get everybody multiple gifts. I'm going to run out of ideas does happen to you. I find gift-giving. It's a lot easier. The older you get because you don't have to put much thought into you can you. Can you can get like gift. Certificates tickets now You know I'm with you like you can get someone a bottle of wine. You KINDA classy gifts. That are kind of easy to get. Yeah Eddie I feel like we. People expect much anymore. I get older. Should we get Mikey's bowl predicts projection predictions at some point. I don't care anything. Oh what what. You guys didn't have anything play. Did you guys do any prep for this. Well you set up the show I mean I hear you're listening to music beforehand. The music is more to kind of distract. The callers were like getting everything in place you know because it's weird we have. We have this hour so an hour and a half that we spend recording the local hour and it cuts into kind of prep time for the actual show Right so so we need to Kinda do our prep word like right before we start and then like from the second. We've finished until the low. The national show starred in Asia. We're or just yeah and then Chris has to be editing. The podcast and putting out the SA- like well local. Our greatest kind of gets in the way sometimes show prep right so we're doing a lot of the prep for the show while even in between segments. Sometimes they're like if things are quiet like Chris might be working on something for the show wall. You know Roy's going on talking about well you know the Panthers Roy he'd be rambling. Yeah Yeah Cuba Yuma eating. They're doing this thing a protein bar Um How are the panthers doing this year. They are five points in the playoffs right now. Wow fluctuates allow. They leave and we're not gonNA go into politics exciting house your house your podcast going. I've taken the you know I said I was taking a little. It'll hiatus for the summer. And it's kind of dragged into the winter just a Sabbatical Schwartz but people are clamoring to get it back. People are really wanting back soon so I mean CMEC. Do you know what the biggest issue is not. You'RE GONNA laugh. What's I got a new phone now? The new iphone one of the new Samsung phones. Yeah and he. It doesn't have a headphone Jack. What no it's now? Samsung now is trying to copy apple and get rid of the headphone okay. Yeah I'm I'm kind of confused confused to why that's prevented you from doing your podcast. Because I used to use my phone I used to plug it into my soundboard at home. I have a little makeshift studio cider studio duty Oh at home and so I would plug that into my soundboard at home for my guest and so I guess I'll have to buy like a little adapter Adler there's something. Yeah Yeah thank you. It was like a couple bucks. They saw an Amazon. But I'm I just came on what Mikey send me a link to it and if it's not too expensive I'm going to get it for you for Christmas Christmas. Well you said a couple of bucks. We have to be reasonable. How are your the kidney stones? Because you and I unless you don't WanNa talk about that and we know we kind of this so me and my brothers. Yeah in the battle against kidney stones owns and I sent him supplements of a while ago and I don't know if he's I'm assuming by now you've run out of them but I'm wondering if those worked out for you if you took them or if you just kinda discarded them and never took any of them now. I feel like they've helped a little bit. I kind of been taking them on and off. I haven't been religious with them And I feel like when I have taking him. I haven't been getting them as much so maybe they do work a little bit. I had a big fear or it's just a couple of weeks ago announced his last week when I mean how many can you do. You think you've had ED. You're taking my life and I've probably had more than one. Let's see like five instances instances. Okay probably always been on the same side right. You're left side or your right side. I think it's always been on my rights. I think I don't know I can't I can't remember member. Well anyways mine are always on my left side and like I get kidney stones every other week almost. Yeah that's bad yeah probably chest. Yeah Trust me but anyways just recently I started. I got one last week on the right side. The first time I am ever admiral wait a minute. How how many have you had? I've literally had probably let's he said once a week he committed the matter. It's all he sent me one time a picture of a kidney stone that he I think you showed me. I didn't know what it was. I connected I was like It was pretty. They just know context. Just yeah it was just a picture. And he didn't explain what it was and then I put together and I figured out by the way Anthony's here if you want to have a real voice. Hey Mike you what's going on man. Anthony Anthony Happy Holidays likewise man. Let's let's Michnik. Let's go ahead each of you. Tell your favorite story. We're here we're here. We go through throughout the Mike. You go first and we can go with you Mike. I remember my first time walking into the Bristol studios and this was probably a Early August of twenty seventeen. So if you can if you can put your mind frame back then I remember walking into the side where the dumpster is where we do. The Mike Thank you see smoke break plow and walking by and seeing you chief like two or three cigarettes rose. I was standing out there because I didn't have my badge and then you finally after the third cigarette opened. Open the door for me to walk in. That's my first memory of mighty see what a memory. Wow Mikey now your favorite memory of Anthony. My favorite memory I was I was standing outside having a cigarette and I saw anthony coming in and he forgot his bad so I had another cigarette. Maybe even a couple of other cigarettes and waited until I realized he needed to help and it and I actually helped you get into the building so might so Mikey beyond here like do you remember Anthony at all. What a small world? Aw An insignificant where you guys thought was an encounter at that time and here we are over two years later just fondly remembering recusing member. Yeah yeah I mean what a moment something that was so insignificant to you guys at the time and here we are. All of us together would have thought. craziest part is not Mikey. Smoking three cigarettes back. Tobacco's Anthony forgetting his bad. What was my first day sudden? have it I was I was. I still had to go to rookie camp and stuff and they told me. Hey meet him building to will take you over. Would you know show you everything. So are you guys like regularly interacting or was it just like a walk by relationship. But you guys. I want lunches to offer you lose a lot of a walk by relationship ship because Mikey's in his studio certain studio four. Mikey where he does. He does stuff and we were at the corner. Mike you remember when they used to have a doorway through there where you uh-huh it made your life a lot easier. I know that and then when they closed out that corner we had a lot of a walking foot traffic. That people didn't realize Mike. How long were people walking that way and then realizing Holy Shit? There's a war. Yeah I can't I can't go that way anymore. We still get people that do that. I saw shefty almost this walking into the wall on time because he was walking with this both phones out texting texting texting he got within. Maybe three feet of the of the wall looked up and kind of looked at us and we were looking. Didn't say anything because we were like is he wanted to walk into the wall. So we're all looking at him he finally said wasn't there. A door here turned underway and walked out as fast as possible. How look at all these memory? We got a lot of good sowing doubt. That used to.

"All go to Law or so. We're back from the CART BAR and we're realizing that training and podcasting might not be in the future of Shenanigans because literally people don't have headphones on the drain and they you just like listen to their phones like on loud. I mean I get. We're broadcasting but were compensation like as loud as possible like they have. They have their volume of people are surfing right now. Is it a cold to surf. What the sun is setting right now? This is personal. It is freezing but like I know a lot of guys like Oh love to like jump in the ocean when it's fucking freezing just because it's you know whatever yeah could be worse. I mean maybe this is why we missed our one fifteen james we could have this beautiful sunset because it is pretty beautiful. But Yeah I don't know training Huntington podcasting. I don't know if it's GonNa work out but we are going to answer some of your questions and we're going to wrap it up. I will say it isn't as loud on the train as I thought it would be. I thought it was GONNA BE Super Loud. I did too definitely dead so Tanzer a few of your questions. No okay. Well no looking at all of these. He's ninety percent or about Kayla which okay I feel like we address that enough in the beginning but they want to know what happened. I mean we said that. Are you guys still together. Nah Are we still friends. And here's the thing I only yes. Kayla was a good close close friend of mine. We talked on a regular basis but she was my friend because she was my girlfriend. And that's how I met her. People get confused. They think they think that you came after after but me and I have known each other. I mean it's over six years now and we've been really good friends and then even closer over the past couple of years nine Kayla came in the picture and obviously you know when you're in a relationship your friends become friends. Yeah so exactly and especially when I lived in Vegas like I didn't have any girlfriends out. There are got a lot closer but at the end of the day you know you and I are friends and I got divorced. I don't see you texting with your crew. There will break up like you're not gonNA see Mutassim with her unless it's you know something along blind. I appreciate you message I center. Yeah so anyway. I think I think we probably answered the majority of that in the first part of this show but to answer some of your other questions C.. K. cloudier ear. CKC Lady once. Who is my favorite new? VP ARE CAST member. I think we can agree on the same new costs number one. I think Three you'll stay tuned all right next question at J. K. p. j. k. wonder what all that stands for has a few questions on wants no favor. Christmas gift ever favorite Christmas tradition. And where do you get your positive attitude from. I think I got that from my my mom and being through a lot of Shit and just knowing that no matter what things could always be worse and when you really put things in perspective and you think about other people have going on and makes the little shit going on your life. Not that big of a deal so I just think that. Don't sweat the small. Yeah like be upset about it for a second theory or fit like I did this morning but at the end of the day get over it. Upsets domine around. I just walked out on the patio. Close the door on. I'll see I come down. I was fine but I needed the veterans. My mom was unfortunately out of funeral this morning. I was not going to obviously even text her. With one thing Mike Geezers. I've been to be there so a good listener. I just don't say much back now. It was perfect. It was just that I needed What's your favorite Christmas gift over? My favorite Christmas is gift ever. Oh my God that's such a hard thing I don't know I don't I don't know my when I was a kid I got a BMX bike. That I wanted. That's broke all my teeth on offense after that so I did an interview recently and they ask what's like 'cause I'm notorious for getting guys who don't deserve show really awesome awesome Shit new-look Watson icing guys ever bite you and the only thing that came to mind was a surprise trip to Bali and recently. I mean that's a good trip. Yeah I mean. There wasn't a Christmas present but he was just do you do the. I don't know you guys call it out here in Cali Pollyanna white elephant or whatever. Yeah my family. Does that and I like doing that a lot. I think it's fun. Yeah we do that too. That's definitely one of probably my favorite Christmas Russians like just doing that game and then my family they got on my Dad's side they they get a little crazy so we have another game that we do where it's like. There's like a million things like a wrapped in one doe present and then you wrap it and then there's like tape around owned it and I've seen all this crazy shit and so like and you have to put on Oven Mitts. When you're unwrapping so you roll the dice? And then as soon as you roll doubles you have to put on Oven Mitts and like a fucking Santa hat or some shit and then you have to try to unwrap the present until the next person next to you rolls doubles. They roll doubles. You have to pass the president so but in all all of this. It's not just one present in the middle. It's an all the tape and everything like the normal like gift cards and stuff like that. You're robbing this is a long game. Yeah Yeah it's a long game but it's so much fun because by the time we play like everyone in my family's like super let through China put on a unraveled president and then like then it's like sometimes seems like you don't even get the hat on in the person rolls doubles and you're like Shit. Sounds Boring those are definitely fun and my mom. Every Christmas morning makes corn pancakes Like they're so guide and my dad watches a Christmas story. And that's just like every Christmas morning is something we do is that your Christmas was move that you guys always watched Christmas. Dad's currents watch Christmas vacation. Yeah No ours. Is Christmas story like and they just play it on whatever it's like whatever TCI zero. I don't know movies. Whatever that they just play like ours classics something and they just play it on loop all day long so yeah? I don't even know that I've ever sat and watched that movie from start to finish. But I've seen every scene of it sporadically throughout my entire life. Okay let's see there's More questions what's the hardest part of Filming Vadim Parole Sam Underscore one two five nine five one two now. I mean honestly just putting it all out there. It's like actually filming. The show isn't hard but like the content that comes out of your mouth while you're filming. That's probably the hardest partisans being completely vulnerable and like raw and real and yeah and everything you say you have to relive it. I know six months later and then watch it back and then see what other people say about it and it's a lot and got see at Manasseh wants to know we'll brody beyond the coming season vanderbilt roles why would brody brody. Yeah like Brody Jenner. Here's a DJ crew the production company. But not not that I know of. So if you have some inside info me now because dropping the t I mean as far as I know there is not to spill Brody Jenner but you never now so anyways guys okay. Well the rest of the questions were all about Her and we're good. They're not going to address a lot on that right now. I mean obviously it's GonNa Unravel as the months go on. I'm sure everybody knows that if the follow us yeah and if you don't google you can google it. It's just the one last thing is about this I hate. I don't want anybody to think like our relationship was was bad because it wasn't a bad relationship. We had a great three years. It's just the way ended was not ideal now in the nicest way possible. Yeah agreed so on that now you guys enjoy your weekend. We are going to enjoy our time in San Diego. I'm off to Maui and next podcast art guests episode. You will hear about those shenanigans that we get into things for listening. Mike you tell everyone where they can find you so they can follow you until you drop. This not does but.

"That far from West. Nice Hollywood literally people just complain about it. Danika said what it took her eighteen minutes last night. Yeah it didn't take long time. You told me she was on her way. It was it was like think I'll drink one drink. You know exactly. Yeah we heard a few songs and then boom she was there. It was like magic but yeah I definitely would move out here. Let me I have done everything in Vegas everything you possibly do. I don't think there's anything else I can do in Vegas like I've gotten to the point where I'm just like. What do I do now? The Vegas Chapter of your life closing getting close to it. I got offered a couple of jobs for the summer. I just don't know if I want to take them yet. I haven't say yes haven't said no I just said let I want the New Year to calm and I'll let you guys know from there. Yeah so what would you want to do when I lay. If you're not doing the scene at the pools I make good money with music. Everything like that is like really good. I don't I don't know I would probably want to find a bartending job somewhere. I just like to help alleviate other stuff and then I heard sirs hiring there I mean I think I fit in. I think I know a few people well Tom. Tom Is expanding you now. They are now twice the size. It's not open yet but at one time we'll have me there. There was there was an issue in Vegas. talked it out. We talked it out. Happened Gotcha. Well we'll revisit that one. Yeah but definitely. I would take bartending job because I feel like no matter how good you're doing in la you still have to make extra money. No matter totally and I M C do all the parties in Vegas but like I mc fucking weddings and Bar mitzvahs. I ever was the pay me. I'm here I don't care. Are You WANNA celebrate your thirteenth year there to help you know what we should do. Some music together like same as they have done James before and like law on. I've been talking about this recently to so go on like little mini tours together because we have one coming up spring break but are you going to be a my spring break. Because I'm not going to be at yours though I actually no I'm booking I'm helping but that's not a to what we can do. We do this together like a five city tour or something like on the East Coast like you know we have a few songs perform like like Save James. DJ's UMC. I can you know do a couple of songs you do a couple songs. I think that'd be. It could be fun. I think we should do it. I mean I think that anything we do together as it's proven everybody's curious everybody totally so so James just did an appearance in New York and that plays con thing bravo videos. After after we did an appearance why would join a blank at Shit I know you're on my cell flyer I just don't know where it was. I'll I find it right now but yeah so we did an appearance there and I was like actually like genuinely shocked at how many people came when I was like. Oh so if you do like have an event in like I mean win and we didn't sell tickets or anything like that was like people show up. This is what I was trying to preach to my ex and trying to make things happen for her because once you start building a brand and people start buying in. Yeah and yeah I'm down. I think we should definitely been thinking about that a lot. I think any way we can. You know the brand yes I agree. So what else is going on. Mike you tell me some vegas dirt. What's going on with Ronnie honey? Can you spell any. Actually Ronnie's been really good lately. He's been on he's the best I think it's been a while. I trained with him a lot. We go to the gym all the time and you know I think he's just he's finally realising that he can be happy by himself. Yeah and he doesn't need his. It needs somebody else. Ron Ron is a great fucking guy and it sucks folks that he gets this bad light put on him. I know he puts himself in a lot of situations but he's such a good dude. Yeah I think he's finally realising that he he can be good by himself. Yeah which makes me very happy. Because he's been like one of my really good friends rose ten years so I think ron set him up set himself up for good comeback. Yeah I like that. Yeah so we wear they filming the next season as they GONNA be like Vegas Jersey like over the I know the I think they locked in a a season. Four of the new seasons snooky denied. She's not going to do season really. Yeah so she's definitely out and I think they're gonNA. They'RE GONNA to travel but I think they want to do a house or something like that somewhere for a little bit longer. because it's easier for them flying across Ronnie and Paulie both live in Vegas so flying back back and Forth Jersey gags like Jelly is the busiest person I've ever met in my life. It's insane so I think they're probably going to do that at one time and get as much as they can. Because you know you you spend more time together you get more stuff done. You're constantly flying all over the place. Waste Time Yeah. I think that's what they WANNA do. And I think that's smarter but yeah Jerry. I'm curious to see how without snooky like knees. He'll weird right. Yeah like like like what is you know. It's like Beverly Hills Housewives Without Lisa G. I don't know I'm curious and it'd be weird. The reasoning listening is still going to be a good show. Because there's still the drama and like you gotTa Niece Richards. You Know Jersey at the Rogers but it's still gonNA an Era Jane. I mean just like for her looks people watch the show by that show was just like Lisa. Like she's such like Beverly Everley hells and like snooky is so Jersey Shore. I know it's so weird without him like I mean. Her reasoning was good. I mean she's I think I think she wants to focus on that. I mean when she made all the money that she always made more money but I think she's just happy loud to be able to turn down that money goals. Sammy did does is. She turned on holden seasons. I would be kicking myself in. Yes Oh my God right ads crazy also going back. It was public house. That's where I was in New York. I was going to drive. Take a look up the flyer. I was like why. Yeah we had so much fun. I know let's do. I mean that's the one thing you know. May I have good connections all these clubs around the country I can. I could sell us a tour and a second. I've never I've I've been to Jersey but I've never been to the Jersey shore us go in their rouse. We should we how what I meant to do before this. I was GONNA do like annonced alive or I was going to do like a QNA just like like sending questions. So I'm going to put a pause on this. WE'RE GONNA go get a drink on the train and then I'm going to post and I'm be back back answering some of your questions. Let's all go to be. Let's all go. Let's all go to Law or so. We're back from the CART BAR and we're realizing that training and podcasting might not be in the future of Shenanigans because literally people don't.
House panel to set impeachment debate rules on Tuesday
"The Judiciary Committee approved these articles what happens next well it was a party line vote for the panel after a very partisan debate and we expect more of the same next week the next stop for the articles is the house rules committee which on Tuesday will set the parameters for the house floor debate this process allows any member of the house to speak before the comedian could go on for hours but there won't be any significant change to the articles before these head to the floor then on Wednesday the full house is expected to begin its debate we expect to see fiery arguments on both sides of the aisle and it remains to be seen in terms of any potential defections that the Democrats could see how United our house Democrats heading into next week's vote semi people are already speculating about defections they are largely United but there are some facing more pressure than under others remember Democrats won the house in twenty eighteen because they picked up seats in districts that trump one I spent the last few days talking to a lot of these members from these moderate districts facing this political pressure some of already come out and said despite the political risk they will vote yes because they must and defend the constitution for example freshman Democrats Susan wild of Pennsylvania and Elaine Luria Virginia have both step down in recent days and already said they will vote yes when this impeachment vote is before the next week others are taking a wait and see approach I spoke to freshman Chrissy Houlihan she's a veteran Air Force officer she's on the verge of making a decision but here's what she's considering she reviews evidence in the inquiry the consistency of the stories that I've heard from all of the people who live willingly step forward on to talk about the situation have has been most striking to me so although many of these folks are taking their time to deliberate we're still expecting the vast majority of them to vote yes on impeachment what about these moderate Democrats in terms of that their districts are they worried that it could hurt them in the next election leaders are telling these members impeachment is a vote of conscience and house speaker Nancy Pelosi says she's leaving it up to members to make their own decisions and these members are getting hit on all sides inundated with phone calls from voters and even Republicans hoping to win more democratic defections so some of these members have said they will take the weekend to go over the evidence from the house inquiry meet with constituents re read transcripts and articles of impeachment ahead of announcing their plan here's freshman Democrat Mikey Cheryl she's a a veteran navy helicopter pilot who's taking that extra time to decide I think what people expect for me is to use my experience as a veteran as a federal prosecutor even as a mother and somebody cares deeply about our democracy to make decisions that I think will be in the best interests of our country and of New Jersey and that's what I've tried to do meanwhile we expect Republicans to stick together and they are guaranteeing no defections but these moderate Democrats will be the ones to watch it's a small group but they will draw intense interest the day of this historic vote looking forward to the Senate what can we expect there will of articles are indeed approved in the house the next step is the trial in the Senate already Republicans there have told us that they want a short perhaps two week trial Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on fox last night is working closely with the president and the White House to plot out a potential trial the president the president however said earlier today he's listening to these Republicans but left the door open to a longer trial a new ignition with system a long list for middle of

Loser of the week are Silicon Valley talking heads and I'll tell you why please do so. There was a deck that was was leaked yesterday about Softbank too. So they're pitching investors and there's like eighty ninety pates eighty ninety slide deck that the vision and Fund yes K.. And they talk about we work and they had these like basic slides like revenue. Gross margin is down DOES DOWN IF GOES MERGING GOES UP EX goes down dogs lot arrows and like all the Silicon Valley mocked Softbank. Like these morons think they can invest like this because they've obviously had some losers recently people don't get is they had these same deck seven years ago five years ago when everyone in Silicon Valley thought. Wow now they're just king making the same people talking shit now. The same ones three to five years ago saying soft bank's at genius. They're just making bets and playing chess while we don't understand what's what's going on there just controlling ridesharing globally and now the same people are telling us that saw thanks a bunch more on. I'm telling you there are a bunch of Morons Nice. My my users evening started to fight back on. Yeah but I think that's like that's right. That's what sports people do. That's what fashion people people do. That's how I feel about the trump connie stuff and everyone's cancelling and everyone's anti trump whatever but when you're a guy does it. The rules don't really see themselves all the way through at least you group chat if we say you're an idiot pizza ratings ratings and reviews Mike you got a loser new. You know what I just thought of a winner. Believe it or not. Okay give full scholarship. Alex Miller kickback backlift. That Dole can grow. Yeah so that will be Spanish to these. Yes yes there was a big skateboard. So for all of our skaters out there. There was a big skate contest over the weekend. Where at frost middle school so thrashers been doing valley? Ross awesome and play basketball really. They had a contest here on Sunday. This is what's so weird about skateboarding is. There is one set of stairs out leading out of frost middle school. That's world-famous no way because it's a skate spot where people do tricks. Aren't they put in building while he did that on the frost double set rather thing so the rational did a contest there. Go ahead Mike Kelly ticket from. Yeah and basically this This this kid. Alex midler did like a trick that I never would have thought could ever possibly we done and it was like a one hundred fifty people like it took him like four hours a landed and everybody just went crazy all it froth off. ooh My l.. We're GONNA DO A poll but make sure like if you're listening to the pod participate in the poll comment on these picks coming on group chat. DM's make it very clear what D- should do here and I strongly encouraging all races. Yes all disenfranchised except for like sensitive white people there like. There's a big group of white people these days that want to be sensitive for other people and they feel like they have have to. Yeah you can't do that to my friend. Yeah shut up. We'll be outraged by their own out. my loser is Ashton Kutcher kids bunch of losers punishing young children. There you go so We're getting we're getting crazy on here on Friday I'm punishing Kids Ashton. Kutcher has said that he does not want to leave one dollar behind. I yeah so you know what sorry tasers guys are studying. I hate that notion of just like leaving. Nothing like the idea of. If you're wealthy like ashes very wealthy set it up based on goals that you think they should meet like at eighteen. They get unlock some amount of wealth if they if you want them to go to College Ed Ten college or the threshold for them to unlock the the wealth I agree. It's just nuts that like then the whole purpose of working hard. The quality of life like his kids live rich life. That's what he's saying there so there probably flying private vacations. They're probably doing and then when they hit eighteen west six kids leading city. Oh Man I don't I don't remember what I don't believe him but I also think that's stupid like I think it's a missed opportunity to not set your kids age. Even I'm donating the almost all my Wealth but he's like my kids will have enough to be fine and in his mind find is five hundred. Teach your kids how to like raise money you know essentially hit the hit these metrics or pitch me on what you need five thousand bucks for tell me about it. What are you GONNA do with returning it like an investment? But I'm just sing like he worked really hard became extremely successful. Why don't you want your kids to have let them be at the front of the front of the line and obstructing struggling and so you gotta give some? I think that the right thing is in the Middle Right. Yeah Right Mike. What do you do when you're a billion dollar the other real estate investor and you have seven kids with all that well look? I'm not I'm not going to give them nothing. But the biggest challenge inches definitely like instilling virtues in skills in into your kids can go out and continue the wealth. I believe in building a legacy but cutting off at zero zero. I don't know I think it's in the middle. Yeah like the incentive idea. Teach them how to use money and you actually have a little bit to invest in them with. It's like build a deck and tell tell me why but I find that hard to get. He's saying that this friends are some of the most successful. They are incredibly hard working. Have done extremely well. And it didn't hurt that they came from Monte families gave him that edge so it's on the parents if they had good parents and so so they ended up being productive citizens. Them sure plenty of examples of kids gone wrong but like there's plenty of examples of kids going right okay all right. Let's recommend some contact Ontai before we get out of here. What should ever want to check out this weekend? I'm going to sell promote again. Okay Brown Friday coming on Friday so my did an interview on my podcast. Detour with A woman named Julia Hunter. Who is the? CEO of Jenny came Jenny. Canes like one of my wife's favorite brands it's a California luxury brand and she's a woman she's thirty five years old super fascinating to hear her perspective as a CEO. And how building our business. And I don't know it was a really a great interview and if you're interested in fashion I think you'll really like it but really interesting just hearing a perspective a woman being a CEO and one of the topics we talked about that. It felt that if she was a man in a similar position she'd be making a lot more money which is quite interesting interesting. Okay check it out. I really liked by the way you're You did a podcast about Raising money yeah and I liked your honesty. Yeah I when you have those when you do those segments. That are like very honest yeah. The Target Food Haul Episode
"Today we have target hall target we went to target some of US did some of us are just being surprised by what we got thanks apprised for one of the first times I can't wait very exciting I feel like we're making up for last time because we didn't eat anything last week on the podcast now we have like two times as many things yeah we're eating every okay so I want to jump right in but you've got something for us I assuming do all right target just launched its biggest grocery brand ever it's called good and gather now the idea behind gooding gather is great food made with quality ingredients that you can have on the table fast so there's no artificial flavors no synthetic colors are official sweeteners or high fructose Corn Syrup and they have more than two thousand items ranging from organic snacks for Salad Mixes and in meals but two thousand that's like almost grocery store in its own right like it's crazy wow that's that's amazing and I actually like that name gooding gather sometimes these names are just kind of cheesy it's like this I don't want to I don't want to offend anybody but they simply also how different is this because they had simply balanced right those are the ones that they still have that it's a little different I'm not sure sounds like you need it sounds cool trying some today right Excited amy would it know though I glanced ahead because I thought we might get that question are we trying today we're excited no working so we're going to just jump right and where are you going to start today by the way with fridge finds things that you find in the refrigerated section at target we're going to refrain from calling at target the people still know people that that I don't know we don't we don't say that here it's tar get forget so the first thing we are starting with archer farms stuffed chicken breasts cutlets and they are stuffed with you wanNA guess Mozzarella and gloves close asparagus John Cheddar each piece has only one hundred seventy calories five grams of fat twenty nine grams of protein three smart points we added uh-huh were points as we did for those who love us and love weight watchers so it takes about twenty five to thirty minutes in the oven you should know this so it's not like a goodin gather it but then you have to cook it cooking but it's hands off time you don't have to do any of the stuffing rolled up this looks like way leaks like a piece of twine line that we're not supposed to eat see it maybe it is I don't know yeah like they tied it up it might be tied up bound and gagged bonus you miss no it's a it's a stuffed chicken breasts let's describe this it's like a chicken breasts that has been seasoned it comes completely raw and then you cook it with you know in the oven it's got the stuff in the middle how are we going to do this we just going to pass around the plate let's rally grabbing I don't see any Cheddar well this cheddar stuffing's a little well it really mostly chicken you know what it is it's like folded on top of it it's not in the middle grab some green beans asparagus spare guy Ma that's really coming very tasty taste fresh I feel like they did a good job seasoning which is a common mistake I know and it's not overly salty it's like a nice tiny touch of Cheddar the tastes they taste good there little overcooked Irby I like it I feel like that's a great dinner option if you're kind of bored with the average chicken dinner so you just pop it in the oven for what like fifteen minutes to thirty Don Juan and then you're done it's awesome but at one hundred seventy calories the stats are really really good so I like this a lot yeah I do like that. They didn't go overboard on the Cheddar because they could have made this fatty fat McFadden could've they didn't they did not do that. 'cause it's archer farms we like archer Barnes and we trust them but that's not is that a target bread exclusively exclusive target simply balanced now good and excellent okay next up this is no evil now remember the less of Lesser Evil or they make snacks right yeah next I like them but this is no evil foods there it's called plant meet that does not sound so appealing but it's no chicken comrade clock shredded strips one hundred thirty calories one gram of fat no evil this premise recommended by the newman sisters yeah it looks a little intimidating I have to be honest with you it looks frightening it looks like Cook Jerky I'm going to try to exactly what it looks like you know chicken plant meet actually hold on I'm Aaron recommend trying it with twenty barbecue sauce really really like it in the skillet per the package directions the texture a little bit odd but it tastes good it tastes like chicken really with us all the way it looks them eat it with your eyes closed Jimmy he's with this barbecue use sauce face for radio do you think lesser evil is annoyed that they didn't think to make themselves no no I don't know because there is no such thing is a snack that's no evil and I think this refers to the fact that no animals are harmed Lawley is shaking to that and approval yes I like it again no evil oh foods plant meat no chicken comrade clock shredded strips that's a mouthful literally and we will link you to their website because it's not just a target what else did they make. Let's see the stallion Italian sausage hit boss pulled pork we can do a rocky reference I'm in this is cool I like this brand I like it no evil thumbs up okay next up we're trying our first good and gather item Yea good and gather mild sweet onion salsa I do like sweet onion I do like salsa mild is okay this one has died Mehta's onion Jalapeno salon show you like Cilantro right I love you're not in the camp where it smell or taste no taste ooh wow brim thin and falling all over my show notes re kind of looks like the Salsa we got from all it does actually it looks like how long I'm GonNa get up and grab from Jamie computer to be eating with carrots I like it it's a little salty two little salty but and it's very very onion but I like it it's it's different I feel like I would use it as a sauce more than US also I would use it both ways I would use it it also depends if you salsa that's more like less chunky big league unique days fresh funky fly and remember we're in the refrigerated section yes ten calories zero fat zero smart points by the way the no evil cluck cluck cluck cluck chicken it had to smart points a bar do very much of Argon okay we are moving on onto a new Yogurt Chill Bonnie Vanilla Greek yogurt with cashew butter. Are you so excited mikey loves Gert I've been waiting for like the yogurts with the the nut butter I tried them no and the stats are really surprisingly reasonable so that they that container that single serve container has one hundred sixty calories six grams of fat and eleven grams of protein at six points okay let slightly high right like it's high in the points department but await Ahmed at it ooh it's got giant swirls while leases making it swirl I am making its swirl look at talented I am is that the nut butter at the bottom is that swirling in I'm trying to mix it around what flavor is this cashew Butter Without Anneli Yogurt Oh okay spoon that is interesting it's interesting because like I'm a huge fan of cashews but I like it and did they have a peanut butter version I wish they did let's say it's not bad is it like it's great I don't know cashew butter is this is so interesting so they have a Hazelnut Butter version with Chocolate Yogurt they have an almond butter version but no peanut it's not bad interesting feels gimmicky it's not amazing do you think it's amazing no and I I love peanut butter like I don't get not a huge cash a fan love cashews I don't get such cashew flavor I don't get a huge vanilla flavor I would not purchase that there's better it's not terrible but there's you better Trapani out there that is true I do Johnny and they have great options that's just okay okay we are onto frozen who's feeling ready to be Um burn out berea prior scarves I up simply balanced organic keen Wa spinach garbanzo beans red peppers and onions seasoned blend okay so this is a meal starter kind of thing and what that means is like you know at some protein comes in a bag it's like a blend of grain and veg and whatever else he wanted to but we're going to try this chemo grain I feel like I heard it was a seed or son they would you like the Quinoa Salad Quinoa Salad I heard that like eight times I was like it's technically a flowering plant Oh she's young all right let's talk calorie count about this show one hundred and fifty calories a cup four and a half grams of fat four grams of fiber five grams of protein four smart points so I would like beef that up with more vegetables and some chicken but it's good I like it more than I thought I would it's well seasoned they did a good job there friends no more not but yeah and more spices if you want not too shabby and that's another house brand so that's exclusive at target simply balance and next up this is not a house brands as a brand from our past del Monte Veggie Veggie and Mozzarella Bites cited for this Oh wow this just seems like a decade the little fine for us it's like an odor of situation it's like a little fried stuff that looks good look at this stuff veggies what type of veggies and Mozzarella five pieces one two three four five they're pretty big five pieces to forty calories seven grams of fat six grams of fiber grams of protein eight smart points I feel like I have to look at it and tell myself it's forty eight calories apiece because to forty s intimidating for it's like a miniature hop pocket that's so it is it's like the world's cutest little pocket it's so good Manuchehr mythology that is really really good here's the thing this is not an everyday food for me this is like a treat food that I taste at work I probably wouldn't have it at my house but it's it's not a bad option especially if you have kids it's a good snack for them it's not unhealthy it's not overly high in
Erika Jayne Gives Fans an Underwhelming 30-Minute Concert
"I was at Eric Jane's on concert in New Jersey and Melissa Gorgon was in vip introduce we talked and then the the show was actually thirty minute as long it was very short show no judgment everyone works through their art was it though like how much was each minute it I mean it was she did she has three songs that we love and that she has deep cuts what would and so don't you kinda call them deep cuts as though like when you know billy Joel this is classical music yeah it was so Melissa feel me getting tired in this thirty minutes set and so she saw me on losing steam and she started to hunt me to get me excited for the concert and honestly her hauntingly got me back into the show and I was able to finish out seizing sent out in the audience as sort of a fluffer she was in we were in VIP it was like there was like a separate set of people and it was like pressing she she knew I was like part of press and so she got me excited and I I think that that's the sign of a good friend and who sees some people not maybe not during the show I enjoyed the show she's reading energy energy for someone to lose steam and I'm sorry call your thirty minute shower it wasn't a great show it was tough expensive with a great number as it is I did number power to the songs because when I see feels very lacklustre through the screaming I could totally wrong she is great she had spent a lot of money on production yes so you always see the talent lies you really see the production the dancers are bringing it Oh it was a beautiful her videos are where she comes up cuts you know what I mean like for her to stand up for answer for thirty minutes it's like that's a lot of time for some artists well it's not like J. Lo where she's going to have amazing answer this that and the other but still the main event remains Jaylo yes it's almost she's overshadowing herself which is both smart but also there's a comparison you can't help but make yeah yeah yeah he songs I would not do a single hover no she did her deepest saw her old saw did she try to break it down at any point like where it's just like her in a Mike and just really yes so she has honestly a gorgeous outfit sorry it was honestly a gorgeous outfit she was wearing like rhinestone cowboy boots that were like Christiane something released and like a gorgeous robe I'm and she likes RAV and it's like black and there's like lights in there are no dancers it's deconstructed but it's doesn't sh- it's not the same like are they doing halo is the horse and that's that's the that's the Halo Lopez brings down I'm still I'm still jenny from complexities gorgeous just say though I think it would behoove Erica if any of her hangers-on are listening Mikey's rolling love I love mikey dolls I we work video that she bring it down put on the robe and do now we know how much do that way with her teaching because this is where the fans are coming from and she taught to read to do that and why not do it. did you not do it and also make it kind of like shade for on poorly APP reform exactly I think that would be a good performance I was really deeply invested in Erica she was a house that I latched onto the most and so this arc I am not on the train where do you find eric now I yeah well she just doesn't want to give up her soul to reality TV which is beautiful like that's a good person but it's not a good Riady the listeners across America or across about five states are longing in their cars right now because for the what we've needed all this time which is she doesn't want to give up Saudi television and for that I cannot forgive that is a noble worthy cause get off my teeth exactly makes her brave makes her smart but it does not make Kerr a lovable star and you know why I'm angry at her for doing that is because Asia has a soul to give up would you don't be she gave us that promise that she was willing to we're down her whole life and her life seems to be doing okay and I don't like
Why Some Impeachment-Wary Democrats Are Changing Their Minds
"New Jersey Democrat Mikey Cheryl is a former navy pilot federal prosecutor and military adviser on Russia she opposed previous calls for impeachment enquiring until the phone call presidents one ski says we are almost ready to buy more javelins from the United States for defense purposes and president trump's immediate responses I'd like you to do us a favor though this is why it's so critical those javelins are pretty much what stands between western Europe and Russian tank forces to put that security aide at risk because he wants to not fulfill the duties of the president of the United States of America but to instead serve his own personal self interest that again was the bright line what would you say to someone who says look we're thirteen months away from the election let the voters decide when we are seeing the president already taking steps to undermine the twenty twenty
"mikey p" Discussed on Let Lisa Help with Lisa Lampanelli
"Mikey majesty which i will never call him mikey to me but you can find him on the youtube and the stories and all that mikey majesty and mikey e since you have a lot of brains really does your heart on that really. Did you a lot of since you're here are. Can you help me. I'm just kidding no since you kind of work on yourself and you really fearlessly do that. Can you help me with a couple of listeners or having prying. We'll try my best okay. I have a lot of wisdom so it may be too much but am i. I'll have to edit out so i sound like the smart one this from alex in waterbury connecticut etiquette oh we got this starts like a real. This is a true for that's the first issue but he's more gary well. This looks plain it. Would you like a black back in gay friend who lives in connecticut. I mean the answer to me is yes yeah yeah because hey blacking gate to target groups. When you mix them both together that means that i am now friends with a double minority and i get extra points and he sounds already so okay. Listen stop it. He says he's currently doing being some inner work. I'm currently doing inter work on myself and trying to find my authentic self. I love listening to yours and chelsea handler stories. I'm not gonna lie. I still listen to your comedy from time to time because i love that type of comedy but i do love the work that you're doing now. No i don't think there was a question in there other than does he want us to be his friend and by us. I mean me but you know what i love about at this letter is that he's doing in her work on himself and that he can separate that that comedy is funny but the new you me is also good now. Mikey this is something you're going to have to find out for yourself that you have to have people go. Oh that was acute what you used to do and now you have to i now. I accept you for who you are so. Do you think you do that with people. You can see the old them a._m. And the new one yeah i know everybody changes over time and everybody has the chance to evolve so i don't hold people accountable for their past actions or anything like that. If you're changing yourself and go off any i'm rooting for you well. Do you think was any part of my comedy a deterrent to you reaching out for help from me league. Did it prevent me from what would did any part of it did it. Was there ever a second where you would like. Oh maybe soldiers make fun of me or maybe this is part of a stunt no because i know that that's all onstage wow like you. Maybe not everybody gets ed. Common sense like you're on stage and you're saying all this stuff. That's not your real life views or anything right just telling jokes entertainment entertainment yeah so you an alex from waterbury connecticut ed are people who get it and what you both have common in in common is that you're gay so gay men get it and the rest of the world has to catch up you know because we have a sense of humors. We don't take ourselves too seriously so ally late in yeah so thank you alex. No you didn't really ask a question but i do like the love because everybody needs once in a while this here there okay and i like to think the people can not punish people for their paths like i forgave star jones for years for not saying shed weight loss surgery and denying it and then she finally said she did. I forgive her. She wasn't ready at the time because we're already. When we're ready like mike you. She probably felt like ashamed. There's of course a lot of shame surrounding that. It's like the easy way out even though we know it's as difficult as anything else yeah so i mean you. I'm gonna tell you mikey to not not ruminate on oh. I shouldn't done this in the past. They shouldn't have gotten those terrible tattoos on my hands even though lisa call some terrible actually they look really cool. They're really expensive so they're not that bad okay. It's they really are beautiful. That's a good point. At least you did quality tattoos. I mean i have some frigging guy. That's a whole different story. My ankles sinkholes but my visible ones were expensive okay. So do you see yourself just to digress. Do you see yourself getting more tattoos. Are we done no no. It's definitely always going to be a part of my life. I'll just be more thoughtful. I mean definitely never on the neck or anything like that good while i'm glad you have limits yeah goodbye like i have some limits neck i can't do i also you're really pretty like you have a really good face so you don't do anything on your face because you have a good knows snows. You didn't have a nose job. Did you gonna talk about here. No i'm just don't it's really good like we thank you. I actually appreciate that no. You're lucky to have the face you have so leave it that way but speaking of surgery. I have a question from pam from ohio. She says i have also had weight loss surgery and last lost over one hundred twenty pounds. It's been three years now but i still need to lose over one hundred more but find myself at a standstill i can't or maybe just won't why i can't i lose weight anymore. My heart does wanna lose it. It's dumb just finding it hard <hes>. I just feel like i will never lose news anymore. The good news is at least i haven't gained either. I want to say something pam. That's a huge deal to have not backslid because it's like okay. Where'd you heard before from mikey. He quit his job. He then re framed it and got back on the horse course and now is working and saving money towards moving out of that hell hole that is east hartford connecticut. Is that where it was going. Ahead that right but you didn't backslide so you're at exactly where you were three years ago. That is a huge accomplishment. I'm not pandering to you. I'm not going owned pam. You're just fine the way you are. No you gotta lose the hundred for health issues. I don't care about anything else other than the fact they stay alive. So how would i find nine. Positive is having gained because that's what happens and we've lost too many celebrities and other people to that so here's what you need to do get into therapy and find out what why you stopped yourself what was scary or threatening about your life. That made juice put a halt to this because that to me. Is the whole key you starting to get this going again. It is not about diet. It's not about exercise. It is about about finding some self love that will let yourself move forward. Get that shrink figure out what whole you're trying to fill with food that you're not not getting from real life because i know every time i still overeat every time i still freaking grab the chips for some reason at the end of the night and i'm sitting there with my dog. I'm going. What am i trying to fill here. What do i really want connection. Love a good cry. Whatever and guess what pam when you figure out that you need to cry or you need that connection or that hug or whatever little thing that you are too scared to ask for that'll be fulfilling and that'll be the thing that'll that'll stop you from eating and will it work every time absolutely not we look. It's drug okay. It's our drug. You'll have to struggle with the excuse me. You have to struggle edit that for me. Will you have to struggle with the rest of your life probably but maybe for less time maybe less and less maybe you'll only six nights out of seven then maybe five then maybe back to seven but guess what you'll get on the right track for now. I'm proud of you. The jamming having gained get your ass into the shrink figuring out bitch right my kia and also i just wanted to say change your wording because she said something lake i can't or won't you can and you will if you want to honey. That's true actually because just by reaching out you're kind of sees me at at that just by reaching out your kind of denying that you can't won't because you're going oh i can and will because as you actually wrote no one who doesn't think they can do. It reaches out so dude. I'm on your side. Pam and you know what i would do. I me either a huge first. Step is coming to lisa lamp and elliot's workshop on food body image at curb hollow in november mikey. You look like large man. I'm going to ask yeah by the way speaking of which do you ever get told you're too skinny. Oh yeah all the time people listen to this. That hurts people's those feelings. Stop it it gives you know what people might guest. Oh i just recorded with another episode. He's at the same thing what happened to him and people don't think that hurt if you can't say something nice. Don't say anything it's in your to anything is lousy. How about you just say you look look nice. Don't even put the today in because if you say you look nice day. Yau's me yeah it means. I look like crap every other day. Yeah full stop commenting on other. People's looks just shut the f. up and don't say you look healthy because that sounds like you mean i got fat so just be quiet and you know what skinny doesn't always mean healthy so don't make assumption right in in just calm down. Worry about yourself sweetheart love. You mean it. Yeah i love you mean and lum. You owe mikey this is. I think we felt multiple people we we. I mean me. "Eat that you got it. That's the most musicians go through that <hes> regularly honestly yeah yeah totally. I totally get that. <hes> courts for me. I realized that been a musician for so long. I'm most qualified to it'd be a musician so i've pretty much put any other idea of agreer out of my at now yeah but no no that's. That's really good yeah. I like. I said you've really you've really raised your own bar. <hes> so that's awesome do thank you. <hes> you know my goal is to just keep putting out music and just just not stop. This is the first album that i did <hes>. I've been saying l. man since joan night. Nor i started doing a podcast. It's called the pros and cons. Maybe six seven years ago <hes> that the music business is changing and moved away away from the album model and it had at the time and may still be far away because we're at that point where people just put out a single you know on itunes yeah or on whatever streaming service put out a new single and so it's kind of back to the motown method so this whole thing came the whole album came out one song at a time okay like hat full of sky was released and then because of you was released in at some point letterkenny was released chinese lien or anything it was about the each individual song almost exactly <hes> and you know i didn't. I wasn't concerned whether they created created a cohesive unit. I i was concerned whether or not they were me and every one of them in their own way is me <hes> because i'm i'm you know i'm not you can't put me in a box. You can't most people you just can't put them in a box. We're landscapes man. We're symphonies you. Can't you know we're not one color. Were not one note. We're not one letter. We're we're magnum opuses. You know what i mean. We're we're complex flex and we're we're not two plus two were huge equations that are impossible to solve and and so all of this this even when it doesn't seem to fit really is is part of whatever puzzle it is that makes me and and i'm okay with that. Well sorry sorry to get philosophical. Well thank to the dick. Jokes talk about funny stuff on the album i mean there's <hes> love and is a a song about <hes> the symptoms of love and it turns out that those are those are all the same. Those are all signs of love and revulsion. You know it lists all these things that people people list off when they feel like they're in love but if you're feeling repulsed by somebody you could say the exact same thing strategic <hes> and then shiny math rocks is about dice about role playing game dice gotcha because <hes> you know they're shiny math rocks and then in <hes> letter kenny's about the the t._v. Show letterkenny. I'm a fan i <hes> and it's everything in there is a nearly every line one of the song nearly. Every word of the song is a direct quote from letterkenny <hes> and then loot the room is about <hes> well. It's a it's a r._&_b. R&b an eighties aren be sexy dance song <hes> about <hes> treating sex like a role playing game <hes>. It's it's. It's very metaphor work. <hes> right now people can check out all of this on <hes> mikey mason doc band camp dot com right. Yes and i'm linked to it on mikey mason dot com as well. You can find it all on spotify <hes> youtube. I tunes all all of the streaming places. Its on pandora <hes> but you'll have to have an account. If you wanna find things civic on pandora that's the way they work. Yeah okay well well. <hes> let's see dragon con con writing songs based in the firefly universe inspired by episodes. It's a firefly or things in the episodes <hes> and so there's a lot of great music coming out of that were going to be friday at one in hannover f g <hes> recording alive the first podcast and then that night <hes> at seven pm. I'll be at princess elite theus traveling sideshow <hes> which <hes> they're all authors authors by the way. I'm a published author. Now i had a short story published in a book and <hes> i f- i finally put that creative writing degree. It is of course about roleplaying games. It's a it's a story about a vampire. <hes> who runs a rule <hes> a weekly role playing game for group of immortal monsters. That'd be funny but anyway. Princess leia traveling sideshow is friday seven in marriott a seven zero seven okay <hes> and then at ten pm firefly drinking drinking songs <hes> with mark gun and centennial one and the high and the centennial ballroom <hes> in the highest <hes> and then <hes> saturday saturday at four p._m. I'll be doing a concourse show in the hyatt me for an hour <hes> trying to kill it the highest because that's how i do <hes> the world is superheroes. We're heroes show saturday seven. It's the group sing <unk> hanover ce in the highest <hes> it's <hes> me and the knight sabers and the blithering humdinger robbed unagi and arts and tom smith and hawthorn and holly <hes> and <hes> you know they they let people choose themes and they let you vote as many times as you want and somebody voted for superheroes like a lot which means that one person's going to be very happy and everybody else is going to be like because one person voted like a million times for superheroes but that's cool man 'cause i'm for whatever it's nice to have the diversity superheroes or fun to sing about sell through and of course thanks to the marvel universe. They're pretty popular these the the one. I don't what what's that and i'm just kidding. Ah i'm sorry oh absolutely not <hes> saturday at ten pm <hes> i've got a concert a hannover f g hi <hes> through the philp track and then on sunday eight thirty p. m. i. hanover f g in the highest <hes>. It's my last dragon con concert of twenty nineteen eighteen cool so now that we've handled all the business in awesome sauce <hes> we're going to have run punches at ed at dragon con. You and i right totally. I mean that's our tradition now we have to we've got to going to be at the live. Are you gonna be the live recording of <hes> of in the verse that i don't think i can. I do have my <hes> life podcast recording for everything filc at two thirty on saturday that i wasn't invited to actually i thought you were we. Did we not like you onto that. It's not on my schedule. Your officially invited now are well. You know my writer states only one thing only one thing i have my writer states. Only one thing and does that is oh. Yeah must must have a punch waiting for their course. Please sit and that's that's the entirety my writer man. It's not what color eminem's we have available there. No need that run on wants to run punch baby within the clear label saying this mikey's rum punch yeah and i. I know that i'm speaking to the choir. I know we're wrapping up and i know i'm speaking to the choir and preaching to the choir here because if you're listening to everything is filc you're probably already going to be there and you're probably already going to enjoy dragon con but i don't think that <hes> the filth track gets the credit that it deserves for providing the entertainment detainment value that it provides or the quality of entertainment that it provides or the diversity of entertainment that provides and i i really love that it's <hes> taken to being called the dragon conch music track <hes> and that's that's incredible that one little change could mean a lot <hes> because a lot of people are like what is filled but what if you are listening to this you don't have to make them listen to this episode listened to the episodes that you think are the most entertaining or whatever have have your friends who don't normally if if you have friends who don't normally do the filc track and music track <hes> have them listen to the episodes have them listen to the musicians and see if they would be interested in attending the shows <hes> because there's something there for everyone on very cool well. I think that's where we should wrap up. <hes> since we have a deadline in everything and you probably need to you get often. Do your music work. That's our cue to another twenty minutes. No no all right well. We're not. I'm going to do twenty minutes at least play one more in my song outlets with another song loot the room. Let's lend it on a funny note okay. Let's do it the orders the third.
