"Center field. It is gone up into the Rockies bullpen. Mike Yastrzemski just obliterated. One is twenties. Second of the year. 11 1 Giants. Yeah, really Fun home Run to watch. Ostrovsky would end up with another R B I in the ninth inning when the Giants got their final run across Knocked into Evan Longoria with a base hit in the ninth inning. So Mikey Ostrovsky had a nice game. Duggar had the big game. Brandon Crawford LaMonte Wade Posey, Beltless Stella. Everybody was into it tonight, but the player we give credit to for Stella performances Logan Web sponsored by Geico, a proud partner of Major League baseball. Logan did give up the three runs in the or the three runs total, two of them in the seventh inning whether he lost a little focus when the game was just way out of hand. Or maybe the Rocky mountain fatigue started to set in with the altitude. Whatever gave up four hits, including, uh, an infield hit in that seventh inning and allowed the two runs. Still, though, was outstanding. He got his ninth win of the year and then Calvin Castro pits the last two innings. His major league debut. Tonight was a very successful one just gave up a couple of hits, got a strikeout, No runs. And in general look totally in command. So congratulations to Castro. He looked like a guy who can help the Giants down the stretch, even though he's 22 years old and pitched in the Big League game for the first time tonight, time for the K counter sponsored by cars for kids, that's cars with a K. Donate your car today. Giants pitching had seven strikeouts, Not a huge total, but I'm going to add to that and say they didn't walk anybody. So at course field, you pitch a game where you don't walk anybody. That's a really good pitching performance in my opinion. 12 to 3. The final score. The Giants used offense defense and pitching tonight to take it to the Rockies. So they have a chance for the series sweep tomorrow. 12 11th pitch time. 11 10 pregame on our flagship station can be aren't across our Giants radio network DeSclafani against John Gray Nice pitching matchup. For tomorrow afternoon for Danny. For Darren for Sean. For John for Dwayne for Mike. I'm Dave saying so long here from San Francisco were we all know each other? We don't need the last names. At the end of the show. Giants beat the Rockies 12 to 3. You've been listening to the KNBR, Northern California, Honda Dealers Radio network. Boost and cricket charge more for unlimited.

The giant were saying they're like the nephews of like famous sports players like that's who this team is. It's like like Mikey Ostrovsky. You will never be Carl. You, Stransky. And yet you are playing on on an unbelievable level in a way that maybe Carl could never have played. Donovan Solano. You have Evan Longoria, probably the younger brother of Eva Longoria. Probably don't know. You have all sorts of players. They're really good one through eight. Not one, even like the best player had to take the year off to hang out with his family in Atlanta, like Buster Posey. Yes, Brandon Crawford's good Because he's Gary. He's like related to Garrett cold now because somebody married someone's sister, so they they have. Do you think Garrett call complains about everything like I imagine Garica like complaining about the food at that wedding? Yeah, His voice is a little bit different. It's like I just don't understand why we campus taking stuff on our glove. I just think we're ruining everything like Stop complaining about what they're ruining You got your money, like, Shut up. You got your money, and that's it Like you've got $300 million. The argument that we need time to readjust to pitching without cheating again. To me. It's like door so absurd thing that a human being concerned Well, we all have kids, so they they're the ones that will come up with How Fair. Enforcing a rule is J son in this last break. Just texted him five minutes ago. My son, My 12.5 year old son said, Dad, are you home? Texted him. J does not have a huge do not have a big house That tells me one of two things. My son just woke up and he's too lazy to get out of his bed decision. Are you home? No doing a radio show right now. So, Yeah. I mean, that whole line of he does that did feel like a petulant child. Come on, guys you want You got my back. You want to see another pitcher who's kind of average strikeout 11 people in a row. More than cool, Not cool. I mean, I know these are rules, but it's not cool. So So if I were to say, Okay, so Aaron Nola strikes out 10 guys in a row in a row. If diagram, does it, you say to yourself, this guy is historic doing it. He's been doing it. He's historically great. They will still lose one. Nothing is that's fine. You're gonna lose that game. We're going to get it to heads of Harvey I, by the way he might be, He might. But the the idea that like this that Aaron Nola was the guy who did and I'm not saying Aaron Nola isn't bad. He's a good pitcher. But is he is he Jacob deGrom. No. So there's a not Tom Seaver. No, there's well. He equals up with that tender. That's my point. So there's a there's a graphic on Social media right now, where somebody has taken the MPH and the spin rate over the last seven days. Okay, So it's one of those graphs that Yeah. And it and it goes forward and it goes forward, and then it just drop drop. So the spin rate whatever you want to say it is just dropped off the table. Where's everybody, by the way, still throwing 100 or 98 or nine but spin rate for people? It just show it allows the movement of also if you're throwing 100 and your ball is moving at the very end, that's impossible to moving up and down. People talked. I talked to Pedro Martinez when I was shooting this little thing for TBS that we were doing and I was on the set with those guys. We were watching playoff games and Jimmy Rollins Jimmy Rollins, Pedro Martinez and Gary Sheffield. Didn't Jimmy Rollins said Mike Schmidt when he was teaching me how to hit? He said. Do you have a laptop computer? Which either? It was a little weird questions? Like, Why not think I have a land? I borrow it? I don't know. So Schmitz like Schmidt is like, Do you have a laptop computer? Open it up. See the screen that on your laptop computer right here. Do you see this right here? This is your hitting zone. If a ball is out of the zone, don't hit it. Pedro Martinez said. Okay, take that laptop. He literally was like, Okay. Now go in. Inch below the laptop. But if you're going up and down, that's how you get Oh, that's so to him. That was the ultimate in terms of like pitching. So again, That is the reason why we've seen seven no hitters this year. Already? Yeah, already. That's what was last year. Yeah, And there's a bunch that are so this happened in 1990 91. I'm I don't know if everybody was using the same stuff back then you think so? Well, it's just there's a There's an up and down. It's it's right. It's the real estate market in Silverlight. It's up and down. It's crazy, hot and then slow, so I don't know why. In 1990 91 92. There was a bunch of no hitters also, and then there was none for a little bit and you know, I remember. Remember Growing up there was Len Barker, and that's it. Dave. Steve took like Every start into the ninth inning with a perfect game in one out, you know, like that's right. And then the fact that some of these Super crazy Hall of Famers never get it. That's right. And then the players that Bob Force had. I think I know him. Mike Warren of the Ayes Have one, right? I remember that he doesn't remember. He does that. He's like, Did I? He's like Mike Witt. I did not play in the majors. Did Mike Witt have one? He had one of those I believe he had the he and length Oh, yeah, I know. He had a perfect game in the last game of the season. Perfect game, Texas just But those are the things you remember because it happened twice in the eighties..

But We have this so hot, humid and dry weather. Really? I heard Tom Skilling yesterday talking about drought conditions. So we really do need some rain. "Morning game of the doubleheader. Had one pinch hit at bat in Game two. But of course, he also played on Friday. So for Posey, this is a little off, scheduled to play this afternoon or one pitch slider taken low. Does, he says. He's fine plan is is that Buster will rest tomorrow at the start of the home stand, although, as we've seen plans can change. It's not set in stone, but It's been pretty disciplined about trying to make sure that cozy stays rested. The results speak for themselves. 3 38 batting average 11 home runs. 11 pitch, Posey hits a ground ball to the left side shortstop, trade Turner Fields and throws out Buster, so not this time close. He was a little off balance with that swing against the Joe Ross slider. Two down for Brandon Crawford. Nationals Defensively have Kyle Schwarber and left Victor Robb. Place in center Want Soto in right? You've got Starlin Castro playing third Trade Turner, their excellent shortstop, which has made that play Josh Harrison. It's second, right. Zimmerman, the veteran back in the lineup again for the Nats. He's at first base of Villa. Catching Joe Ross to down for Crawford will see if Brandon Kin Get Mikey Ostrovsky home. Quiet series for Crawford. He had cramping issues in between the doubleheader yesterday, so he didn't play game to give capital I think came to the ballpark today, expecting that Crawford might need another day. But Brandon said no, no, I'm Totally good to go. And he's in the lineup. First pitch to Crawford is way up and outside with a fastball ball one. Crawford leads the Giants with his 14 home runs leaves the Giants with 41 runs batted in. Joe Ross has been vulnerable to the home run ball 54 innings coming into today. And 11 home runs allowed one pitch. That one is a sinker at the knees called Strike one. Crawford thought it was too low. He's talking to Mark Carlson, the umpire about it. Just getting started from D. C. Looks like it's going to be a good crowd. Lots of people still filing in the main entrance to Nationals Park is out beyond left center field. The field is actually below street level. So you walk in At concourse level. Was a pitch up and away one if you if you come to Nationals Park is a fan and you look down on the field so most of the people pour in from the subway station. D. C. They called the Metro from the Metro station out maybe a block away towards Capitol Hill. Two and one Crawford at the plate, the pitch she swings and pops it up on the infield. Third base I or first base side rather foul ground. Zimmerman is there to make the catch. So not this time for Brandon Crawford. The Giants get double for Mike Jastremski, but they do not score often. Running from Nats Park in D. C. Giants, Nothing Cueto to the mound. Nationals coming up on decay. The Star Spangled Banner in Washington, D C just a few blocks from the U. S Capitol building. The site of today's game, the Giants and the bats and it is a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Washington, D C. And remarkably, I think, considering the forecast in the way the series started with not just a rain out, but a total washout and then a rainy day on Friday before the game pretty remarkable that the Giants and that's where you get all four games in and just the one postponement and a Fairly painless and easy double header. I say painless. From a roster standpoint, nobody's roster was overly taxed. So I think for both teams coming out of this weekend, no matter the wins and the losses that that is a victory in and of itself, and we'll see if the Giants can get an actual victory before heading home to start a home standing tomorrow. It's the Giants and the Nats time for the starting lineups, and we'll begin with the Giants. 40 wins 24 losses. Giants also gained ground yesterday as the Padres and the Dodgers each loss so Again. We're a long way from the true pennant race. But the Giants are two games ahead of the Dodgers and four games ahead of the Padres at the start of the day, and the National League West Mike talk Man will hit lead off and starting left. Mikey Ostrovsky, the right fielder, batting second, Buster Posey. Doing the catching. Posey hits third. Brandon Crawford, the shortstop at the cleanup hitter Wilmer Flores, third baseman. He bats fifth Brandon Belt at first base, hitting sixth. Donovan Solano second basement and seventh place. Stephen Duggar is in center field. He will hit eighth and the starting pitcher for the Giants is the right hander Johnny Cueto Cueto on the mound to pitch and Bad night for Johnny. It will be his 10th started the year he's four and two with a 370 earned run average. Meanwhile, the Nationals 35 losses against 26 wins, so they're nine games below 500. They're 8.5 games back in the National League East. Kyle Schwarber is going to hit lead off and start in left field. Trade. Turner at short, batting second one. Soto, the right fielder, hits third. Ryan Zimmerman at first hitting cleanup. Josh Harrison, the second baseman, He will bat fifth. Starlin Castro third baseman, hitting six. Alex Avila. Doing the catching, hitting seventh victory Jobless in center field, He bats eighth and starting pitcher is the Bay Area native right hander Joe Ross. He pitches today for the Nats against the Giants, and he is all ready to go. So the Nets have taken the field..

"And Mikey Ostrovsky was handling both of those pitches. And right now, I just haven't seen him do that yet. He hasn't looked comfortable. You know, at the outset of the season, Marty he had that hand injury. He was hit in the final game of exhibition play against the Oakland A's that impacted him. You know, he went on the I L earlier this season with the oblique issue, and then as soon as he came back, he got banged up against the right field wall, the Roberto Clemente Wall in Pittsburgh. And you know it wasn't the same for a few days. And so it's just been really hard for him to be the consistently durable everyday outfielder that he was last season. I think that it really does give you an appreciation for how difficult it is to say, healthy at the major league level. When you watch a guy like Mikey's Trump's key, knowing how good he can be, because when there's any sort of a physical limitation, you're seeing the struggles against the high fastball. You're seeing the struggles. Against the breaking ball low in a way that when he's on Marty, he's hitting. He's doing damage and he's really tough to pitch to. Well, he's 35 for 161. And you know, we we've played a lot of ball already. You know, this is already June the 12th today So you know you You like to see someone sort of putting it together, but I'll throw the question out to you guys. Maybe I'll have to have a court reporter read it back. Is there anybody more important to this ball club offensively then, then Mikey Stransky other than the big guys, and he he is a big guy. He is a well No, He's not the core guy. But he's not Crawford to Posey. Those guys, I would argue against that I would say, finish eighth, I would say you finish eighth and nationally again MVP voting. And you're a big guy. I think that he was the only everyday outfielder going into this season. I would say he is very much a part of this current giant's core. Okay, well, I wouldn't call him Let's put it this way. He's not. He doesn't have a place at the wall of fame yet okay, the the other guys. The other guys have their spots already. Marvin Bernard's got to place the wall of fame. No disrespect to Bill's recent guest, But you know, the wall of Fame isn't Isn't the best measure. In my opinion, Marty. All right. I'll be answering my own question. Yeah, I'm gonna I'm a guardian answer, Marty. You know nobody is more important than this guy. I think I agree. He hits second. Come on, get somebody on. He's got to do damage. I think he's the Energizer Bunny in that lineup. I think he has to start getting this time lived the lineup going. Get on base. Move there. That's what he was so good at last year to drive in that extent, R B I off a base hit or started inning off. And he was he seemed like he was always on base this year, and I'm going to go right back to carry so many little injuries but annoying injuries, and I think that has a lot to do with it. He's not 100%. We know that. I mean the thumb. I mean, sure you say Okay, I'm ready to go. When you're ripping the battle like he doesn't swing it as hard as he can. That vibration stings you and that's what I was looking at today. I didn't see it. But like I said, he's just not like the Jastremski. We know. And maybe all these little injuries carry are driving him out. But he does need to get going. They put him in there every day. They believe in him. He let off. They were supposed to be less. Stella was first him second. That was the combination they were supposed to have coming out of spring training. And I agree, Marty, I think he needs to get in here he needs to produce and today was not a good day. Well, what I would say Marty is we are all in agreement here. No one is more important to the second half than Mike Ostrovsky. I would just say, consider him part of this giant's core because that's how far down and gave, Um Yeah, all right. Well, if it if I asked them the question, then I'll get that answer. But I'm asking you all right next weekend for anxiety. Talking. Baseball is much Stransky part of your core. I'm talking to you all right? I think he's a big part of it. He's still a young player experience wise and they need them and look and Bill brings up a good point. You know, there's 99 games to go. It's only June. La Stella is going to come back. Rough is going to come back. They're going to do the things that got him to this 39 24. They're going to do them again. But boy, the top of the order It could look different in about 30 days. You know, 45 days when the Stella's back and Yastrzemski maybe heels up in his in shape, they need that, and I think that's a big part of the offense. So, uh, I think Bill brought up a good point with lost Ella Mhm. You know something else that we need to talk about his talk man. I know. We say how great of a defensive player is. He got to knock the first game if he could just get on base a little bit more and use him because he's in there all the time he was playing center field. We saw what he did in left field. He's another key guy that I think needs to start producing in the offensive side. You can bury him. You can bury him in a seven and eighth spot. Kurt Caselli today just got reinstated. Chadwick Trump got option. You cannot keep talking man and Caselli in the picture in a 789 hole. You have to put him up a little bit more. And of course you're diving into the rotation of players carry, But don't you agree? Talk man needs to produce. Yeah, Yeah, There's no question I I did it. I did this conversation with Dave Fleming on the talk back this morning. We talked about Mike Talk Mons three big moments this season. The incredible catches both at Dodger Stadium now at Nationals Park and then the Grand Slam and outside of those three moments. It's been a really tough going for Mike Talk man and you know they get Mike is Trump's key back. Stephen Duggar had been producing LaMonte Wade in the active You could very easily go with those three. And then when Darren Rough comes back, you've got another guy who can play the outfield. When Alex Dickerson comes back. He's someone who the Giants prioritized over Mike documents, so he has got to produce over the next week or else he could have a very tough road to staying on this roster. I agree. 100% 100%. I was going to say the same thing when Ruffin Dickerson her back and Duggar and don't forget about Slater. I mean, you can't You can't write Slater off. You just can't bury him on the bench because he's got power and speed. And you want to see him in there to talk. They love talk man and I realized five or six pitches pretty bad and hit some line drives and then you can play all the positions but at some point, and Dave said it You've got to contribute offensively to keep your spot. I thought it was a great quote today. Mark Sanchez is going to join us in just a few minutes. Of course, Um Can be our dot com does a great job..

"Just say play KNBR. On an overcast night in Washington, D C but so far dry at Nationals Park giants Nats bottom of the second, No score Kyle Schwarber against DeSclafani and a little Slider from disco Vanni called Strike one. I think so far. Jeremy Rigs, the home plate umpire. True to form he's looking to call strikes. Pitcher. Friendly strikes on Schwarber, longtime cub checks his swing on the ball in the dirt the curve. It's one and one first year with the Nationals for Kyle Schwarber. That's been a little bit of a struggle. Kind of like a lot of his time in Chicago was plenty of power. He swings here and hits that one foul. Thank God Piece of the umpire, maybe part of cozy Shin Guard or what? But he appears to be okay. It's 12 shorebird. Nine home runs. A modest offensive numbers otherwise leading off here in the second inning, paid nothing. Nothing game Posey going through the sides, Here's the one to pitch. Slider up and away Ball two. The pitch high again. Full count. So Schwarber being patient here Disco funny those Mrs. Those were up, not not where he usually misses with that slider. So just a little out of whack those last two young combs on deck and then Starlin Castro here. The 2nd 32 pitch is hit high in the air. Into shallow left field. Crawford called off by talk man coming all the way in. Not that far away from the infield dirt Hawkman for the catch one away. A good pitch from Anthony DeSclafani. Up comes the catcher John Jones. Well, you can add to your bobblehead collection two weeks from tomorrow, that welcome home weekend we were talking about Giants and the A's June 26. The 1st 15,000 fans getting Mikey Ostrovsky bobblehead presented by Bank of America upon entrance to the game. And I'd say first, it doesn't say that on the copy. I'm just sort of conditioned over my whole history of broadcasting the game. I think it's the 1st 15,000. Here's a swing and a drive out to right center field and incoming making a dive in making the catch His Lamonte wade, what a nice play that was two down. Excellent catch by Wade sinking liner not hit all that hard, which made the play tougher. Two down for Starlin Castro a full layout for LaMonte Wade there Sometimes you see outfielders make diving catches where you like. Some of that for show..

"Do you need? Steven Duggar? Yeah. Number one. Tom's away. You don't hear that smoking just even though you haven't heard it since June of 2019, right? Almost two years, All right. You are listening to the came here on morning show on camera and can be RFM. San Francisco. These sports leader Tyler Rogers will join us at nine a.m. today. What good is that? It was good, but there was just something about last night. The whole vibe of the game was strong. Like Estes hanging out. Bring that whole Estes vibe to the booth. And then you had, like you, said Tyler Rogers just unhittable on also, I'm happy the yeses hitting again, too. He's starting to come out of it now a little bit, which is great wealthy. It's the mustache and the yes return. And the other big news was the Giants hit 85% vaccine. I have a full confession, guys. So I was tied up yesterday from 3 40. Until about eight o'clock in the gloaming. There did Kapler where? The mask in the dugout. No. I think you were gonna mask free. They were from ask free. How did we not leave with that disguise to everybody in there down? Yeah. How do you look? Yeah, you look you look good. You look rugged gray than I was expecting kind of look like me, but you're great job, all ages, but Greg's coming. In fact that job will aid you being a coach or a manager in big time. Sports like that professional sports ages ago, maybe more so than any other job except can be our give me a coach who's defied that Nick Saban. 67 He defied that you look at Bruce except looks pretty damn good. I think you might be 70. Save it. Look at both you when he first came in, and we met him and then look about you when he left a year. The ultimate Obama Obama, United States. He was a 17 year old like Kanye. Hey, Hello, everybody. I'm your president. And then he walked out to all grain. Yeah, a little stressful. Yeah, my hair turned gray, just called agent called Agent. He's Carol's not a bad one. Yeah, the government although he was already got here, so he just stayed old son, Right? Youthful. Always. He's not coaching anymore. But your boy Steve Mariucci has like kind of a useful thing like Steve Kerr. He turns to Donald Trump called him. Didn't trump call him a little boy or some like that, they're in trouble. And then the curve is gonna come in on a tricycle member with a little Beanie. Remember, he said Raymond Ridder was Raymond's idea. I was there the day after Kurt called him like Trump Call him a little boy and cargoes. Yeah. Raymond had an idea for me to come in on a tricycle with a little bean. I wish it did little propeller on top. Not to be confused with the old days when the Warriors rhetorical and Steph Curry you guys remember that day, Steph Curry rode his bicycle on Halloween. Dressed as one of them was a penny wise, anyone anyone that was in the saga? But it was like the dude from salt, whatever, whichever monster, But he had the big mask on. He was riding his bike. He looked nuts. It was great, crazy stuff. Okay, so out to the Giants getting that wind Gausman today, by the way, 3 $35. But here's the thing about the vaccine Mikey Ostrovsky before the game on the Giants hitting 85%. In terms of how things were going today. It's been about the same. You know, we haven't really talked about What loosens up yet? The only thing that I've really been aware of is that we can definitely not where our mass in the dugout which will be We should be nice to not have to run around and worry where your mask is. Forget where you put it, so we can just completely focused on the game. So there you go. No messy. You notice them. Hey, look good. How about Kai Korea? He was over there. Mask list, too. Got his whole grill Got the whole face because for a while or you were getting was the glasses. Well, here's Kappler on here's Kappler on now seeing his sturdy jaw dotted With gray flecks of capital beard here, little black out of the room there. Um, we're gonna talk to the club this afternoon could be a very short meeting, and it's just gonna be a reminder to stay diligent. Obviously I still have my mask around my neck. When we're talking Tohno other fully vaccinated individual in the clubhouse, we're gonna feel a little bit more comfortable playing our masks down. As you know, in the dugout tonight. I think you're going to see if your maths it's obviously if somebody prefers to keep their mascot in the dugout, they're they're more than welcome to, But we're just gonna talk about being smart in general. We're gonna talk about how we've done a good job to date. And this is the right time to remind guys that you know, I wanted to take the You know the protocols seriously on taken on a going forward basis? Yeah, it's exciting man. Listen, we all heard with CDC said. Grandpa Joe said It was a great day in America to go mask free. But it's funny because I'm in little League dugout. We still have our little local rules and I'm like I'm vax. Can I take now? I gotta keep it up, Got to give it up. But until the county's loosen up, and it goes by local guidelines and county guys, guys, we didn't talk about this Yankee story. The breakthrough cases with the Yankees, and it's a little daunting that they're saying that probably the reason there's eight positives even though they're vaccinated is because they got the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, not the Fizer, the Moderna Pull it you got we want Fizer. Didn't you like that? I want 15 or two double shot. I kind of feel like I feel like I'm driving a Cadillac. You know what I mean? Is my tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan and double trouble. I said Give me the double trouble Village. I'm driving an Escalade around town. I mean, my five year, dude, That was the problem. Guys got Fizer got out to the 1% of Yeah, I know, right? No, seriously, And they told me that they basically like made of these. They're like, Come get your visors. Give me a choice. So if you want this one, my box unexpectedly got an email saying, Come get your fighter is like this is how the other half live in their world. This is how the good people live. Now, here's the problem. I'm looking at copes Johnson and Johnson. Stan, I'm wondering, what do you want? I'm wondering when I'm getting it. You know what? Wait. I told Murph this word. You know, they're waiting for my mic over to my clock. One of those two are coming. They're on their way. Keeping an eye on each of us. Can't ribs like getting my clock and my clock. My God,.

"Crazy are on the Giants, and we've hoarded them all. Yeah, There's none left for anybody. There might be a little truth to that. But to me a soon as you knocked free land out of the game. Assuming you could do that, then you can start getting your lefty's in Dickerson Belt and Crawford and there's no counter move to be made. So you can. You can manage this game, but Gabe Kapler, Ken, where you get the right, Anders in there against the starter, and then let's go. Let's get as many good matchups as we can. After that. I'm looking forward to seeing Wilmer floors and Longoria against free land. They get me I was just going to look at some of the numbers. They get good numbers against Freeland. Dave in your mind what's been the highlight of the 2020 season and we're all hoping they get to the to October, but if it doesn't happen What? Uh, you know what? What do we get out of 2020 that weaken carrying the 2021. I personally feel like this is the year that Kappler and this coat this new coaching staff gained Credibility with a lot of the fans, and maybe they're even the players in that clubhouse because I love the teamwide changing the hitting approach. That's what I take away. What What? What do you think what you did They get out of 22. It's a very good one. I mean, I think that's a good one. But I thought I'd put the front office in there as well. Because, you know, you look up and down. The front office has brought in. Gausman and Smiley and going back to last year's Solano this year rough and Flores and they have done an excellent job of finding contributors. The pitching staff is full of them. Harley and Garcia in the bullpen, you know, is a newcomer whom the Giants picked up for nothing. Who's been a really nice piece. So I would put all that together and say we can feel like the Giants are in really good hands like the decisions that these guys have made on the field with the coaching staff off the field of the front office. To me have been really, really good. There just haven't been many mistakes and they're finding Better players. They're finding talented guys. You know, I think on the field two things stand out to me Number one like extreme ski looks to me like a guy who has backed up his performance from last year and is ready to be a good player for a long while. And I know he's 30 down. But Mikey Ostrovsky is going to be a good player for the Giants for the next several years. That's been great to watch. And I would say the way this ballpark is played has been so fun and I don't know. You know, I don't know if we're ever gonna truly know whether it's because the port walk holes are are are stopped up or What? But it just to me. The Giants playing so well at home. Having offense at home has been a delight. Absolute. So, you know, I think it has helped this franchise in a lot of ways that their own players aren't beat down by their home ballpark. And I hope we can figure out a way to sustain that. You know what help. I hope the Giants and I know he has trumped is under control for like forever. And I hope a guy that grinded as long as he did. Stuck with it and paid it off for the Giants. If he continues, like, Let's say he has another year like this year, but he does it for 1 50 next year. I know they don't have to. But it should be nice. They took care of him. And then look, I'm thinking way down the road, Dave here, But it is It just popped into my head that you know a lot of times baseball is well Hey, it's the president will give you what you deserve. We don't have to, so we won't And this is true. And players probably understand it. They don't love it. But for a guy like that, who just you know, I mean, he really took a wine D path to get to worry is now and is performing like an all star. I would hope somebody would say, You know what? We don't have to go way overboard with this, obviously, But let's let's do something That's good for everybody. Yeah, I hope so, too, And I totally agree with you. And if I were the players all there's these other issues that have come up with Labour negotiations that we've talked about, you know, ad nauseum over the last year and the fighting before this season started in what not, I'd be focused on one thing if I were the players in the negotiations for the next deal, and that is Get that free agency timeline shortened down a little bit, so that a guy like you, Stransky or anybody, Any young player could get there quicker or, you know if not that Didn't change the structure for the younger guys who are in their first four years and let them cash.

"The delight of Hayden, Tony Rhine. Brandon Crawford, number five. We're talking about a guy that can't accept the you were saying, you're having a hard time wrapping your head around it Creative. Tony's got, like an outright refusal to accept the hard hitting giant painted himself into a very awkward position Now where there were against Crawford in like crucial situations and just for the sake of his own register. Yeah, yeah, yeah, this all goes back to for her listeners were just kind of confused here. When Crawford hit his 1/100 career home run. A few weeks ago, we took a moment on the show to pay homage. He become the first giant. Shortstop in Um What was it the first What was the static And that was the first Giants shortstop in franchise history to hit 100 homers. Is that right? Because no Ritchie Ritchie Ritchie, What was the stat though there was there was there was he was just the way I thought we were also talking about him is the best shortstop in Giants history way. We're just you know, he was only the third. I'm sorry. Who's the third? There you go. There was a guy from the thirties. Then there was Richie. And then there was him. Yeah. And so it was the third Giants shortstop to hit 100 homers and And then, of course, obviously the three World Series championship and the gold gloves and we said he's the best shortstop in franchise history. And that really upset Tony. He just I don't know why I touched a nerve. He was really mad about it. Yeah, like out like, flat out pissed and so started a text thread between me and Polly Ann and Copes and Tony, where were sort of started needling him anytime. Crawford did something well, which was happening a lot instead of him Writing back like a man I love the guy was just riff in or, you know, a A blank you I'm a Giants fan, Whatever. No, he's like, you know, Blank you Crawford stinks. And he's like we're like way in last night Threat had died for awhile. And then I don't know where the copes copes just decided. Crawford. I miss Crawford's bomb. I was forgetting I was doing but I came back to my phone and I saw a text from copes and she said Some Tony good thing. The ball had left the yard lead. I thought in the air and I was and how much she texts, so I had this on again, he wrote. I want to want to dignify his response with an air world. It was it was really bad. But he's just continuing to denigrate Crawford, who, by the way after the game last night gave what might be a signature quote. For the season. We should probably dial that up where he was like No man. We have a different approach, and he's you know, we rift on the 13 coaches. And I think it was where I think it was worth riffing on when they came and you know They needed to be hazed a little bit, You know, what do you do with 13 coaches bumping into each other yet? So marja riffing about? You know, Once we can tell the minor league free agent from the coaching staff will be fine, You know, but dude You know if they're doing the proof is right there like they're in the new park, obviously, too, But the Giants are different Squad man, very different SWAT and you've got to credit the hitting coaches. You do you do flatter they. Crawford said that last night. He said. We have a different approach. I mean, I don't mean to slam our guy. Bam, bam! We all liked him and they won three world Siri's, but they're hitting different now, brother, right. There's just a difference. No question. Don't sleep on the Carney Lansford year there somewhere to remember that I do that that I remember that last week or two weeks ago, at some point that what year was that Odd 11. Maybe break wagon. It was almost gonna get what you're doing, You know nine I was gonna guess. Pre world Siri's writes, but I don't know I could be wrong. I was just like, Oh, I don't know. Seven late on everyone. Julia. Thank you Get a General Fay. And there you can see inclines. Mixing some of these o ps is right now. And I'm in O P s guy. Alright anyway, you know anything about eight hundreds Really Good. Write anything from 900 sizzling Mikey Ostrovsky, 9 48 Okay Dickerson, 8 87, Wilmer Flores 8 57 Brandon belt 1003. Don Solano 907. Those are all over 809 100,000. Then you get to Longoria 7 76, which is good, but like compared to his mates, he's not old in his voice. Ben Crawford. Hopes Crawford 808 saying he's into 80 right now, right to anyone to anyone. We go, man. These air career numbers for Crawford. And this is after he and capital had their little dispute about, you know. Yeah, about you know, Can I play kabaddi wants to play right now We're going to AA going to sit you on the next match. This all comes back to. The thing we've been talking about now, for maybe 3.5 weeks is that he's managed differently. I think in the last month and he did for the first 2.5 weeks of the season, which is guys have played themselves into roles, and he's allowing them T kind of thriving those roles and he's rolling out pretty much a set lineup these days for the more right and and by the way, you know what that makes us guys that that makes us Kapler's kids total at this point? No, there's no shame. No, we're pra loud and proud. Catholic kids. Yeah. All right. We've got to get into the Niners to today because they're shuffling bodies like crazy. "Here's to another great season of Giants baseball and the power to swing for the Bay Bank of America, the official bank at the San Francisco Giants. Okay. Postgame wrap Part two. We're picking players of the game. I get to lead us off. And since I get to lead us off, I'm taking the guy who led off the game with a home run. Mike extreme ski through two more walks, another home run. He made a great diving catch early in the game when ah Trevor Cahill was a little wobbly, helped his pitcher get through a jam. And he just continues to do 10 things a day to help the Giants win games play well. Michael. So when you lead off the game, that's not bad luck. It's only on the first pitch. As I said before landed, Mike, this is good luck. Just I'm confused by all these, you know whats whats bad luck? What's not We had enough bad luck in Anaheim. So this was good luck. It wasn't on the first pitch of the game, so he was fine. I think giving up a home run in the last pitch of the game. Very bad luck. That's bad luck. Mikey Ostrovsky. He's my guy. Thanks, but we can pick him every every single game. You know, He's just so good that I'm gonna take wanted Peralta. Who needed some love. Look, his last outing Sunday was just ugly. I mean, he faced five guys you gave up for his walk. They all scored. He comes into this game today is your raise of the nines and And he needs to get back into the into that mode of confidence. So what's he do? First guy up ground ball to Crawford Air? Okay. All right. The guy who never makes there's especially with his arm. Then the next guy happy hits. And it's all starting unravel right here. And we're starting to think evil thoughts. It's a 61 ball game at the time. And he gets a one to count and he throws a ball down in gets a ground ball double play, and he managed to get out of the inning. He pushed through an air and they gave us some confidence back. So I'm taking Wandy Peralta. They need him. They needed confidence. And hopefully today got some of back. I'm taking him because he put a zero up in some ways. I mean, Burger and Selma bitch. Clean innings are mostly clean innings and kind of just breeze through in some ways that your right toe single that out just because of the way the whole thing started. And the psychology of this is this stretch for the Giants. A good pick wanted Peralta could pick a job like Kay Pu, you got Trevor Cahill just for being Calm influence out there. He just looked good. So I'm taking Katie. It looks like a guy I grew up in Ocean side. Just kind of beach. You know, Surfer attitude out there. Your ball, who All these occurred today. Good curve. You know, I've seen you looking. He hasn't given a penny runs all the way to give up one toe. Let Stella but Babel's Stella now anyway, Gael, you did a good job. Good pick. John who you got very good. And well, I'm gonna go with Pablo. I mean, hit that one. I remember years ago. When the Felix Rodriguez was with the Giants, and he was pumping in 97 Mile an hour fastballs. And he was facing Ah Eric Caress at Dodger Stadium and he threw a ball up there and caress hit a homerun at Dodger Stadium left center. On a ball up in his eyes, which did just didn't seem possible. And the And then when Pablo does it, it's like, Oh, Pablo, Are you kidding? He did that again, so, but they needed. It was one the one that got that run in the first and then the Angels immediately got it back. On the steles home and then Pablo boom and I mean, Dylan Bundy could he couldn't believe it. Somebody's like He couldn't say. Wow, I made a bad pitch. Dog gone it or somebody didn't make a catcher. I was up in his eyes or you kill me and he hit it out of the park. It means just like Oh, my God. So you know, publicity's together could go up there saying I was looking for it up there. You'd have believed him. Well, I'm sure he'll be looking for it again. At some point, so anyway, Paolo that put him ahead and they never look back from their so problems. My guy, you know, and he later had an R B. I The double was even more impressive. I thought because It was balled away, and he just had a bullet into the gap in left center to knock in a run soon. Awesome problem. Look like Pablo today. I like good pick up. Yeah, that was a two sie fastball away with the upset gap with backspin. He's locked in. It's good to see you. And then the player we give credit to for stellar performance. I'm gonna give it to Crawford. He made that error. But he's swinging the bat so much better, and he had two nice doubles. Drove in from runs started a couple of big double play Did he played solid defense other than the one throwing hey, almost never makes throwing mistakes ever. It seems like all of his errors, you know, make some every once in a while. He drops a ball in a transition or kicks with a ground ball, but never seems to make throwing here. I was thinking about this the other day. And, you know, I bet he's got one of the best. Arms. Of any sport to come out of California in its history. That's how good his arm has been. You just combined strength, accuracy, reliability, all.

"He's almost over the race to make the playoffs. It's great to have Shawn Estes join us on Thursdays in the power are some good baseball chat. Let's stay on Solano right now, for just a Solano question, because you mentioned that he was out of baseball in 2017 18. His career ledger is very not a home run hitter at all. Like you said. Right now. Like you said, the way he's swinging in the way he hit last year. He's a guy, your capital, your sitting down you. You have to put him in the lineup now, Sean, the news is that belt and Longoria could return today. It could be back tonight for the Gausman start. And all of a sudden, you know the lineup looks better. And the defense looks better. And now third base is man. By Longoria Solano was that third last night. Flores was that second last night. You also have bubonic in place sex. Now you're Kappler. And you're going to be a longer you're gonna put like Longoria third, right? He's one of your best players. So where it is, Do you make Solano your everyday second baseman? I guess is the question. Well, it's it's a good problem to have, I guess. I mean, I know it to say that right after you see, you know, Donnie hit hit a three run home run last night. Just be so money this year already leading the team in R B. I think third in the league right now. Um, seven radar, be I I talked to sit a guy like that, you know, but he came into last year. A guy that's going to just face left you because you've been so good against lefties in his career, but he's putting together really nice attack tickets right now. So makes a little bit more difficult. And I know that people are going to put the lineup. You're hot bat and you should be in there every day. Yeah, probably. But, you know, you just gotta play along. Go it. You've got it easy, easier guy until he's not, you know, And then you got to bond. You know, I I really believe is the bond that he should get into that he could be the future there. You know what second base or even in center field or even at shortstop. So you got to get a look at him. I just think it makes them a lot deeper team. I think we have more weapons. You know when you have a Solano, either on the bench or in the line up the fact that he can play all over the field, too. I think Kappler find a way to get his battle line up. You know, because that's something you don't wanna guys playing about like he is. You don't want to, You know, sit him for a couple of days. I think where they do benefit is that You know, because the pictures aren't going is deep in games. You get a lot more platoon that jobs I think you get in the back coming off the bench still still keep his rhythm, But yeah, I like I like what I've seen so far. Salon. I like what I saw last year. I mean, he was probably the best pure hitter last year are from average standpoint, and he was clutch. That's the thing the guys been clutch, you know, to out RV eyes, runners in scoring position. I mean, he finds a way to get it done. So I love I love the guy Just wonder like, if a guy like down that hasn't played every day. Got an opportunity in a little bit in Florida to do it and got a little over exposed. You know, you wonder about that, but I'm going to take my chances. I see if that happens. Yeah. Great stuff, man. And cilia longer goes to third, which could happen tonight. You got three guys a second, Flores, Solano and Du Bon and like you said, it's It's up to Catherine out to get creative and to match up Lefty righty and But Solano, you're right. That's a bat you He's now that that you want to see as a Giants fan is and like you said, especially in a leverage situation as they call it, so Shawn Estes is great baseball talking. We've got to talk about the man of the moment, man. I mean, MLB called him within, like, 15 minutes already had called him Mike splashed Rimsky, which was pretty funny. Mikey Ostrovsky. I mean, Paulie and I were lucky enough to be in Fenway last year can be our sent us out there. And we were there for that magic week with his grandpa, and that was really cool. And so everything about him from the name on down has been magic. But, Shawn, I mean, you take a step back and look at his career seven year minor leaguer is going to be 30 in a few weeks and yet You know, we were talking about the sophomore pressure of you know pictures would figure him out or something. Shawn, that swing looks Legit and as an old picture when you see him in the box, and he looks like he can attack lefties and righties, and and then you talk about clutch right doing that last night, Love. You're sort of download on my cue Stravinsky. The story the pressure he faced coming in and what you've seen so far. Yeah. I mean, you nailed it. I mean, the fact is, is that there was obviously a lot of people felt like that there was going to be a regression in his power numbers is average based on being a sophomore year. You know, league learned a little bit better. Pitchers know how to pitch you. I feel like the fact that he was so good against lefties last year he's in if you don't have to worry about platoon situation, but him. You can put him in a lineup every day and believe that he'll get it done. That combined with the fact that he had 2800 violet about you mentioned seven years, but that's a lot of finally get that and and I know it's not the big leagues, but that's a lot of reps you're facing for both writing is your face and lefties. You gotta learn how to hit both sides. You know if you're going to survive the big league level in play every day. It sometimes takes a little longer for things to click for guys. Maybe a new opportunity like you had with the Giants changes theory, and he definitely made the most of it last year, But I didn't believe that he would have any regression or sophomore slump is I'd like to say, just based on the fact that he is a little older, more mature. Handle swarms a little bit better than a young guy can failure. You not gonna let that affect him as much just based on his age and and the refugees had the minor leagues. I believe that he got to the big leagues, he was ready for the moment. And now he's ready to take off. So I think that it's such an asset to have a guy like not only be able to provide power against righties but also be able to get big hits and stay in there against tough lessons. I mean, Stream's not make difficult that for a left handed draw a little bit he's got he's got a wipeout slider, swinging this flight of the he laid off pitches last night to get to that, you know, fastball up that he drove out of the yard that were pretty impressive. You know, you gotta be able to see the ball well out of the heat on the left. He's got to keep that front shoulder in Ah, and then to put that the swim he did on that ball. Wow. Ah, I mean, he belonged to the top of the line up every night and whore no matter who's picking I've been impressed from from day one week with history, you just the way carries himself. Even Kappler said. He's been a leader in the clubhouse. Um and I think he's he leads by example. I think he just very still look about how he goes about his business. He seemed pretty serious guy and he's a hard worker, and he put his dues in in the minor leagues, and now he's a big leaguer. And and he could be, could be an All Star video. Yeah, five. He's listed at 5 10 1 78 Amanda Willie Mays was probably similar dimensions, but he's really amazing. You know, power hitters these days, Sean. They look like Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge and the Heat. Alonso. For you from your experience of little guys..

"It could be detrimental if they don't if it doesn't work out. I know they're pushing hard for. Yeah, matters that happens. It's unassuming Kittle signs long term here that he's not the one of his concern about. I'm thinking more about the Sherman Trent Williams. Yeah, there's other guys out there to that. Yeah, but they're still they got young talent, too, though. You know, I'm just a Zafar is like the weight on what the season who could affect the worst. Tom Brady in Chandler's Yeah, That's one but again banking on a short on a short shelf life on that, Anyway, like your old man's room breeze in New Orleans. I care about that. I could give a goddamn what Jamie's play and it's just getting way. Well, that's why you know, we're talking about people complaining. Like so I did the great Ron owns on kgo Every like Once a year. He calls me up to go on his little report and Ah, and he had me on last night. I'd do a zoom with Ron owns for five minutes at six o'clock. And he was hitting me with all the hard hitting baseball questions. He's like, Yeah, baseball's back. He's like, but no fans 60 game season stats won't matter. The stats are weird. You know, he said players are opting out. There's a D H in the National League. There's runners on second in the 10th inning. Moron was coming at me with the hard hat. He's like, You know, there's a lot of reasons that this is going to suck, right, right. And I told him I said, Ron, I hear every reason you're saying I reject every reason you're saying that we're the last four months have been brutal. We've had nothing. And now we have it. So I'm gonna I'm going to run to it. Polly, a cz. They like Bryan Adams would. Yeah. Same way I was gonna go a little deeper now is going to say ah ah, in trying to throw your arms around the world, my friend are going to run to you run to you run to you baseball. I will.
