"On the way out there on. The precinct the precinct right? The precinct WHO's? Ohio. NATTY natty Friends People Cincinnati helped write that the precinct almost positive. On you know heading out toward river downs Mike Beer is standing by and Boy yesterday we talked about or Monday. We talked about Jessica Martini and now Mike Beer. It's been that kind of weak and. My Clear Marta. Steve, it's still early, but I could use. So always. Good I've good and you've you've been. What have you been doing keeping Keeping busy, too, because I I did see that. had. A lot of the the handicapping staff. They they threw them right into things like will rogers and and finer but I think you were the you somehow managed to escape having the having to learn the ring. Yes I did I did escape that I've been you know I was keeping tabs on on Gulfstream. writing, you know I'd read a couple of closer look day for the races and then. You know Dan I did videos for the races. We could do videos for you know so I was mostly Churchill downs when they opened and Gulfstream Park and just. You know. Throw me whatever they had. Leftover I would looks for those races, and we would knock out some videos, but that was that I was just trying to keep tabs on some tracks Steve just to. You know keep Keep my mind on raising as much as I as I could. For me to do in. New York. Well now there is something for you to do in New York and It's opening day at Belmont and I think we're going to have to skirt some weather here today, but so be it. It's just so. It was so great, just a print out. You! Know Wednesday Thursday Friday. We'll be looking forward to the overnight for the Big Carter. Day Saturday. Later this afternoon, but some some early thoughts might just in general about the approaching the season that. You know it's a little bit different You know not the usual. Themes that that were used to whether it's horses coming over from the academic than the season ending their winter, horses from Florida. Yes, there's a lot of those it, just it. It didn't feel like a typical know. Belmont Spring when I looked at these first few days. It really doesn't you know, listen I. It's it's going to be I. Guess there's there are different ways to approach I personally don't. Change thing too much, and it doesn't really I don't know for for whatever reason it doesn't faze me that much as far as you know, trying to anticipate or realize what choices are here, and if it's a different look, which shippers or anything like that I mean I just you know for better or for worse, I print them out, and I take. Take them as they come, and just try and go through the races, and and you know figure out what I'm GONNA. Do just based on WHO's running it doesn't it does feel a little bit different to me but you know overall once. I got especially the opening day card after my first pass through it I was just kind of like. I don't know it seems like about what I was expecting. Maybe the fields are a little bit bigger. Because, nobody's been able to run. Everybody obviously wants to get in there tons of as on the card but it seemed like pretty typical down cards. A very familiar faces on the car stakes race. The grades three gay. You know they got six in there. There's two really good horses in there, but otherwise. I felt like a typical turf. graded stakes. Race to Chad Brown has to I mean it's. It's just like things. Things never changed at all with him, running horses, and only four run against them. That's that's been going on in New York for years so I. Don't know I feel like I'm I was thrilled. They finally got back to racy and I've actually feel like the first two part. I'm still working on Fridays but I feel like the first two cards. are actually very good. I think they were very interesting. Races and I'm just happy to be back back. I'm.

"GonNa make expect it. I got it I got. Yeah Yeah What races today Seven Oh oh you know what to do you know. I actually took a voice who I was going to take you even if it came off I took so God Pinos worshiping in Ashra who I like horses. Debut on dirt at Parks But it's you know there's a lot of turf in the sources pedigree. I I think I could really take a step forward off that I liked that horse race. What's line? What's the price? And he was twelve to one on the line about that about that. All right nice. Who'd you pick them the seven today? This is your second I think very cool. No what I now I I almost put your on time because that is not a strong rates for the level studios landed in a good spot. There I you know. Sort of wound up. It took me a long time. I went through that race three different times. I think I wound up settling for the engelhardt horse. Who is it sort of all or nothing in there? I feel like what's his name that they WANNA raise that Saratoga and Mike Yep Maria I think names yeah just made her dirt they do is that was because I remember remember that being there at Saratoga that day and all sorts off a year layoff and never run on dirt. And we're just taking all the money like they knew it was going to win. Wait yeah they ran has been pretty good last star posted. Sheila she she she is what she is. She's just a hard trying Type and she she's small but mighty and tries art and and that's it and we're bringing her back As a six year old. Why not? She's she can't take her off the track. You can't put around a van to to to give her a turnout. She won't go won't go. He's horses that loves the just prefers to be at the racetrack and just in the mornings in the mornings. Everything's race for her. She says she sees a Horse Galloping. She sees a horse. You know after. Yeah yeah exercise. Rider can't can't relax on her because she she'll go after somebody could very good right now. She's just the absolute pleasure and and it's funny. Her mother was the nastiest most unpleasant surly. Just just Sullen Lynn. Mayor and also able and she's she's as sweet as can be absolutely just a an absolute kitten to be around. It's so funny edgy. She's got the exact same for those who remember all sable. Got The exact same markings with that with that. Snip over the ostrol role. She's got her mother's face but does not ever mothers temperament and she actually has more talent than her mother. But you know that. That's that's the best part right in a couple of other thoughts give us a couple of other of opinions. You got those maiden races. Three of them including two divisions of the mile race What's going on in there for you? And then a couple of quick picks on the turf snakes of the Maiden races the Horse I was most interested in is in the first race actually You know that's it's one of the Mile Divisions Chad sources are going to be the favourite cost basis and that's the way the horse to beat off the eighty two last time Where are you listen? I thought he ran finding. He's way the horse to beat in this race. But I'm going to take a shot with King Meister for the second time starter I feel like what stretching out. He's GonNa Really Really Out this force which I wouldn't have thought going into the debut because this is a half brother. That's like power. They're really fast sprinter that has But outside of strike power this whole whole families routing they they all wanna go along. I think this is really gonNA appreciate more ground And you know his debut he listened. He hit the gate at the start of it. So we wound up way at the back and they just walked it. I mean they couldn't. He had absolutely no chance there. The way the race was run. Having forty eight going six furlongs I mean they were crawling and he was actually trying to run at the end. He just didn't really have a champ. I the more I look at them. The more I feel like he's really gonNA benefit stretching out. You Know He. He's going to have a hard time beaten. Chad's horse I if that horse rounded back to his last race But I'M GONNA try to turn this race. I think he's going to be a price and I think he's just one of those verses who's just you know everything's pointing to him running better in this race with more distant well everything's pointing everything's pointing to you needing Marquette to have another big day and of course yesterday with a two year old winter and the three year old maiden winner for atom and it seems like seems like actually one was bourbon. Mon One was Bourbon right and the with the verdict. I thought Adam okay okay all right I I I just saw. I was traveling and just kept seeing the results and The mark he's having a two year olds mark definitely And Look at the winner memories. You know I- Clermont kind find a wide open race. Actually but I thought maybe had it surrounded. I feel glorious to me. He felt she felt like to be and I'm not against against her at all. I wish store Tina Lemon when this race which originally carded. She had a great post and now she's stuck on the outside but I liked that philly. She's to be she's got a lot of talent and a lot. upsides ORANGINA LEMON SO I liked those two more than anybody else In that race. which is you know nothing? Clever they're both kinda shorter prices in. Yeah but I I just thought it was You know maybe a race from one of those two horses to sort of get the money. What else is.

"And you know somebody was going to be third Matola early and chance a lot and it was him he ran very well and a third off the layoff so to speak and Ah The mile is an unknown quantity with him. But I don't see why it's it's not it's not workable and he certainly has has efforts that that that put him in the discussion and should we get some paste prompting from anybody else beside the two obvious players players in maximum security and our despite if the if the pace starts to starts to boil over he becomes interesting and bow harbor WHO's very quietly had a nice here? He hasn't won but he's got three seconds two thirds and he's done undoing a lot of different things. This is a turn back for him to the one turn mile and that's been an effective formula for him. He's been good at at at a mile with three of his five career. Wins and he absolutely I mean looking at that Woodward effort why isn't bow harbor player and he could maybe maybe set up shop right behind the two dueling speeds. If that's the way it unfolds. We're I like. I like the tarmac for him. He's another horse who I personally. I'm not convinced that he's that he's good enough to win a race. Like this But I do like them cutting back and I hear what you're saying about His trip potential too because he's a tactical I know. I've just never been that big a fan. I my my problem with him. Mostly just to me the only race that makes them really competitive here is the Woodward and I sort of feel like you know the Woodward was to me anyway more a function of him just getting a perfect trip for that race because you know that order just as as they did not develop that quickly in front. I thought the closers were very badly compromised in that race. And you know to me about harbor took advantage in that race and picked up the big grade one placing for him. I just not a fan. I like the cut back more to me is a tougher call. Because he's clearly good enough to win this race and it feels like especially the one turn mile. You're getting onto the mile. I think should be good for him. merger be okay for the better sprinter. But he's the one turn mile could work. It's it's funny because you have to go back these. I'm sure you remember this. But you guys go back to twenty sixteen when he was a three year old. You know. Derby didn't work out for him. I feel like you going back and thinking about that you could. You could see that coming. He deserves the chance to run in the Derby but he didn't feel like a horse who was really suited for that race but he was on the Derby trial he hit the board all three of the preps at oaklawn that year. You know they were a little too. Far from the to turn. Routing was a little too far but he acquitted himself pretty well going longer as a three year old and then of course they did the right thing by him and he's rewarded them with. I don't know almost three billion dollars in learnings as a really good sprinter but I can see him getting a one turn mile and especially gone if the two or three year olds hook it up in this race and raise each other. I mean I I would expect what more to come on at the end. I'll give you one more before we talk about the two year old races. Mike Beer with us from the form and the fifty home-bred tale of silence is coming off a career-best and that came in the bold ruler where he sat basically You know the kind of stock doc stock stock and then junior Alvarado who is as tactical a writer and as underrated as anybody out there and the junior extracted his career-best performance. He moving late wasn't going to get the maximum security certainly in the bull ruler ruler but if he takes a step forward from that effort and there's no reason why he he also doesn't get that mid pack V v kind of trip sitting. I Dunno five lengths four or five lengths off kind of a stock and go effort. I I think he's interesting and He's he's going to be lost on. The board is going to be a big price of Mr use them underneath for sure. Yeah You know going back to the bold ruler. A maximum security sort of dominated those verses they should have given junior an extra percentage for that race forgiveness for second because it's almost like he wrote them for second he just sat it out Out let everybody else chase 'em security and he just rode the row into the strikes and then come on and get second thought. He gave him a great ride and if he rides them like that again they can get a piece I he. He was hard for me to make on top. He's hard to make up and all of his races. He seems like he never gets there. But you could use the source underneath. He's going to be a big price. Ministries there's your Cigar Mile Analysis and we didn't want to cheat that. We shouldn't cheat the Saint Louis who brings four warned. Who's just a nice seems like like you're right Saint Louis these develops them and you know the Kelso winner deserves a man on the back? I can see it on the back. That's right sure. Yep Yep and that others. Yeah true timber. The last of the other names. Yeah timber you know. He's it's not impossible he's sort of lost me that I was a fan of early in his career for Caron especially the you know when they finally come back because that seemed like what he really wanted I don't love is to racists came back from Dubai but You know maybe takes a step forward in this race. They you know I will say that. They could ride him differently in this race because last this time it almost felt like they thought you know we're going to try and beat maximum-security actually went after him and tried to raise maximum security around the rates and a wound up costing them at the end but they could write him a little more conservative Conservative leader. Maybe give them a different trip and that could put out for them. Well we should note that he was second in this race last year with pattern recognition and was coming off a very similar. You know well beaten performance in the bold ruler a year ago. Oh so there. There's a little bit of president and it really. Obviously there was no trip to Dubai. But it's really the same pattern. ARC third off the layoff the gear and using the same approach that extracted a career best effort and got beat less than a link a year ago in this same spot. Let's talk about the two year olds. Mike Beer with us Mike the Rimsson and the de Moselle and of course Everyone looks forward to later next spring and summer. When everybody's not saying Oh God they were terrible races? I know I know it's true that people seem to love to bash that race like good. It is our. Yeah it's very it's very strange I Dunno I you know I did before I did the analysis for the Straits before the morning line came out. I guess I'm not gonNA argue with the line. I guess the Matsu I do like four zero. You know I guess if he's going to be the favorite You know that would interest me last with him. But I don't know I I have really no knocks on that horse. I like both of his races and You know he's he's not fast on the way the end but I am not going to really worry about that right now because he's only runs. Nobody fast in this race at this point So I don't care about the figures I I like both. There's races he's got any pedigree distress out at least on the bottom. It seems like the spike. Do Anything Anyway But I don't know I just don't have any real augment with with four four zero Again I wouldn't take super short price on them but I I have no argument with him. I liked him in this race. Steve and the the really the other voice for me me and if I could do it all over again And had seen the morning line before I was done maybe reversed my top two picks and put Prince James on top and I know that Prince James Is. He's slow on the way into this race and you know you don't get it. I don't want to worry about figures too much but he along the way in but what I like about him I liked his debut. His debut at Monmouth were they went along with them. First time out around two turns. It wasn't a good field But he won't easy and I like they just kept them wide. It's almost like Taco knew. This was going to win. He just he didn't save any ground with them. He kept him out into the attract. He wrote them very confidently and this one easy at the end of the day in there and then he came back and it looks like he was exposed last time at Churchill Churchill and. I don't think that he was. I think that race is a total Mirage on paper he. He hurt his own chances because he didn't break great from the gay just wasn't sharp at all but they rolled on the lead in that race. The horse that won the race went to the front in there and backed it down and nobody went. After that horse he couldn't have gone any slower slower and Prince. James was just sitting off the pace on the inside and just not doing anything. I really don't even know what they were doing. In there and then he finally ran through the stretch. It was way too late. He had no chance to win but I didn't think he ran poorly at all last time even though he was defeated as the favourite. And he's an otherwise I just think he's better than he looks on paper and he's going to be the price and and I'm definitely using that horse. How about that and there are some horses Whether you he obviously a little dirtied up There's there's the horse of O'Dwyer I think Jerry. Maguire made a very savvy move scratching out of last weekend's action the Churchill and taking Shatskikh ski here. There's nothing wrong with shot ski in here. He's by blame at a bluegrass cat mirror. He should relish the two turns. I agree that They made a a wise move run in this race We'll see what he does. I struggle with the street sense as a race. I'm not you know this. I didn't run badly. He didn't reportedly at all in that race and he was wide basically every step of the way it was just to me. I don't know if you you know have you looked at it closely yet or not I struggled with it because there was never a point where looked like he was going to win but there was also never a point where it looked like he was even going to be for their looked like he was just ready to throw in a towel for about the last three creates a mile and he never that he just kept staying and staying staying and wound up. Only getting beaten. A couple of Langston there. I don't love the street sense as a race. Overall all looked at kind of looked like a bad race to me but I couldn't really knocked the way that this horse ran because it sort of felt like he overachieved in that race. And so maybe that's a good sign for him. And I agree with you. The distance on could really work for this. So I'm not I don't love him but I'm not against him in this race. Either well a no knock on the Sheldon Russell who has written the last two but getting Louis Sayas for a to turn opportunity Is Significant and I think the sources sources very dangerous out of walked and Gary Barber and company we should mention the Cleon Jones who's had a interesting career and and whether you look on buyers or whether you look on third graph he has gotten better with every single start. They hasn't necessarily resulted in wins but he also has running into some nice horses so he seems like a steady developer. It's interesting that he's going to have to make the transition from you know one turn to to turns and stretch from eight panels to How to nine? That's notable todd pletcher. We can't do this analysis and not talk about the pair from Todd. Who seems like he has very cleverly been handling his young horses says toward next year and the presence of chase tracker inside who took an interesting trip to parks to break his maiden and then then then you've got Alpha sixty six for Paul pompa outside?.

Xm online at our website as well as the VIC DOT COM and and it started out leisurely enough the trip to the west coast. You figure you figure that three hour time difference gives you a lot of leeway that wasn't the case considering that I did not get into a hotel room where at the constants as usual in Pasadena did not get into a hotel room until five thirty eastern side just in time for fourteen to get up to go to school and I did give her the the wake up the wakeup taxed. I wasn't there to make her coffee. which is our usual usual? Mo The husband coffee as she calls it because her coffee whatever reason even if I tell her the measurements ten cups six coupes just can't get it right two years at the selborne right. I've traveled not just in this capacity but in in a long business career. We're here from nineteen eighty two. I've traveled a lot and been on a Lotta aircraft. I cannot recall what happened in Baltimore where we went to change planes and everybody settled in full plane. Every seat is taken up and then literally as you're supposed to be pulling back from the gate we here folks are you're GonNa have to deplane This aircraft is unserviceable. In some words. You WanNa hear when you're when you're going to be going six hours across the country you know above grant the three thirty thousand feet in the air the one of the engines when start. I mean they literally pulled in to Baltimore. Unloaded people put us Assan and then they couldn't restart no different than any of us. We're all of a sudden you go out to the car. I think what happened. Was I think somebody the cockpit that left the the Dome light on and the battery may not crazy so now now we have to wait for some other aircraft some other unwitting the aircraft to show up two hours later and unbelievable and then of course you still have to fly the six hours the craziness of course a good two and a half of it was was taken up by by the bears. The bears beating the cowboys so that that always lightens the mood and I slept a good two and a half hours. I'm relatively fresh and I slept an hour and a half once I got. What's I got to the constants so I feel good? I feel alright but it was. It was a long arduous process. The lead me to make our way year this whole trip is is sort of backwards anyway because invariably the starlet and futurity tomorrow at Los Al are usually on the other end of this trip Arizona. Monday Tuesday Wednesday for symposium. Can't wait to be there and it's really shaped up as Nice as a very nice addition of symposium always interesting great to see the kids. Liz Bracken it'll be honored and remembered undoubtedly will get as as many tributes into the Liz as possible but this year the way this calendar it's been such a funny calendar this first weekend at low sow for the big juvenile races and looking forward to being over there tomorrow. I come here though the last couple of years. I've come here because rather than broadcast from the building at Lowe's our I'm sort of sequestered and have no access to anybody. Being here provides as you know opportunity although it is weekend preview day and there's plenty to discuss and we'll give you a quick overview before before we dive into the action and it includes later in the show back. The last visit the kickoff conversation for the Gulfstream winter and they really have made something out of the two events this weekend and tomorrow the claiming crown which really is found a home in in south Florida after several years of being moved around and featured the notably up at Canterbury and moved around on the calendar and now these last several years settling in a- As a seemingly permanent home for the claiming crown and I guess in some ways probably shaky Shabazz. Excuse me the biggest name on the docket. There's always there's always horses that are starter eligible for the claiming crown and and they move on down the pike in an elevator and go up the ladder and then they come back and they get a chance to to run and in fact Baba's the proximity to close for Zuzana China. But you heard Bob when we talked to him last week about what he's doing with her and they're gonNa take her to Florida and take advantage of her Florida bred breeding and some the things that she's eligible for at Gulfstream over the winter so same holds true for these nice fields for the claiming crown and then on Sunday the Koreb the Cup caride which has really become from all reports and images a smashing success and it brings out The Latino Population Central and South America horsemen and horses ISN riders. And it's a it's become a very Highly anticipated afternoon at Gulfstream. So we'll talk to Mike Welsh late in the show last segment. We've got obviously the New York action. And the low selection selection the major focus. But James scully will be here in this hour. We'll talk to scully about those two year old stakes that I- rifled through with you yesterday. After the draws that at parks the nursery at Laurel Maryland championships for juvenile male and female nice fields. And I asked him one other there was there was one other Laurel. I'm forgetting Tampa Tampa Tampa the sandpiper in the inaugural. There we go so james will cover the juvenile's and whatever else he he wants to dive in on. Mike Beer is going to join us in our one and Dave Granny get our three nick tomorrow our too so we'll have a trio of New York centric analysis and Dave will catch us up on other news as well Hammer. We'll check in with hammer. Of course and Jeff Siegel one of these one of these visits. Maybe maybe in the maybe in in the in the spring maybe march April shove trips here for big gap Indoor Santa Anita Derby we gotta gotta get we gotta get the brain as they call around these parts. We have to get Seagal back on in person. The every years ago we used to always get a chance to particularly derbies and Breeders Cup. We would get the this TV days we would get a Cruzi crews eagle which which was the the best odd couple. Although I I would put seth barrel myself myself right up against against Cruise Eagle as as fun quirky. Pairings of uh of punditry ed for `Voliti because of course you know Siegel Taciturn and and and learned and studious studious and for Cruzi. I don't even have to try to describe him. You just Savour Christie. Would you have a name like recruit easy. You're you're halfway there too frivolous part of the the the happy upbeat presence that that Aaron possesses. That's right you have a name. That already is merciful. To begin with but at some point we used to always have the two of them together and Megan and Megan and Hazelton They can Scott would would always be a a pairing visit. We've had several zoe and millie ball pairings. We can still do that. That that's a expertise and speaking of XP TV. It gives me one quick note. I WANNA slip in before we start to get into the analysis. And do some notable the news and recap including some of the stuff. That's happened already this week. Very nice start to this as we painted the nice start to new turf ways season which included a pick five carryover into yesterday and a squirrelly sequence quance I know there were two favorites than one on the card opening night and then yesterday that at least the early part I was kind of watching you know as I sat says I sat in Baltimore and keeping track a little bit of what was happening and even in the air I went back back to see how it closed out. But you know a lot of mid price type horses here early. The first two At Turf Way and I know on Wednesday night they they approached I think close to a million I I I had to be somewhere between eight fifty nine fifty Ah They don't they. Don't have the tally at the bottom of the page on the charts but I did a quick. You know kind of quickly glancing and they were. They were pulling in eighty thousand the race. It seems on average and You know with their with that low takeout. The chip talked about The the pick fours and the pick five and those fields. If that's if that's going to be your formula at turf way it's going to be a fun winter to follow through on some of the horses from keeneland and Churchill through the fall and also you know others ecorse Arlington Horses as we mentioned and press. Kyle's got a Those fields populated I it's it's I think it's going to be a meat. Well worth keeping track of and looking for opportunities the little a very quiet. I will call it an announcement yesterday but expressed that introduced and on a more wide basis. Let it be known that the TRIFECTA veils you've heard me use the term veils for several years ever since the the one of our favorite players of all time and just one of the people we miss a lot at. The racetrack are Manchester. He taught me how to Johnny introduced us and and only he was. He was gone two years later. Health issues and jet had had introduced the concept of the veils as their merchandised in South American tote and the.

"Mike Beer in the control tower like a like a like an air traffic controller they never let me Steve something to be done working with a skeleton crew as it happened so all you can do well you've been doing videos and you and Dan Almond we'll have all kinds of stuff to keep everybody focused and prepared in fact let's start I'd rather than starting with Belmont let's start with Breeders Cup with you first of all tell everybody what your coverage is going to win tail here over the next seven days there's GonNa be actually a lot this year but we'll always of course we have our video Dan I will do a video preview for all the Breeders Cup races just does your water world you know sorta trying on every horse if we can just talk about how we look at the race and then who we wind up picking and maybe how will bet it I'm so well for all of them there will be a couple of special out of the gate additions where we'll just take you know maybe the top two or three races for each each day fraud Saturday go over those again 'cause you're GonNa get plenty of of me on these races and then this year for the first time I think do maybe Tuesday I'm going to have just a little bit not an in depth analysis but for every Breeders Cup race in the form so short little top three picks antelope analysis for That'll be in the form for just Friday and Saturday so my opinions on as racism hopefully they shouldn't get lost if you're paying attention we'll talk we'll talk some some broad strokes in a second but how do you AH generally bet over the two days what your general approach yeah I'm I don't change it too much just from from the regular approach actually I mean I still especially I got I think you you want to you know really look and see which sequences you might have a real good opinion especially at a price on as far as multi-race wagers Garland and that's how I approach it you know I wish on days like this sometimes that I was more of a you know try super player I'm just really not if not my thing I don't look at races that way so I don't play those but you know pit fours the Big Five certainly you know I'm not much of a pick three player anymore but cup day I can be and I don't I still am looking for prices that I can make win bets on and plagues actors stole I always keep those options open on a regular day and that's not doesn't change them up you know one thing that I we we lose sight of sometimes when it comes to this event is the way when you say you know looking for horses to you know to to bet straight or if you're an exact a key type wheels and part wheels tries cetera the other fifty cents fifty cents amount on the pick threes and the tries is really can be really fun and because you get to use more horses than than you might normally on a day-to-day basis and and try to catch a price but one thing that when we're playing Monday through Friday and weekends and so forth on a going basis there's there's favorites or second choices that we just immediately you know that we think are vulnerable enough to not the interested in in the Breeders Cup you might have a second and third choice and even some favorites that your mentality says well I can't bet them well hello they take a very close look and don't be as as dismissive because horses that were eight to five stake races most of the year are suddenly going to be seven to two four two one and there's nothing wrong with that in this setting especially if you're an exact that try super player that's actually a really good point yeah because the money just gets there are so many different forces that when you're going through them it looks like they have a chance to win the horses that sometimes you know rate to be you know relatively strong faith adverts and even in a Breeders Cup race they could still be relatively credit they don't necessarily get bet that way because there are so many different ways to go and I think part of that mentality is is you know it's Breeders Cup why take the favourite when you can you know they're five other really good horses in the race so why settle for the favor and that sometimes leads the favorite actually being an overlay well on that topic your initial pass through and ensure you've thumbed through everything at least once or twice already and some initial gut reactions the pre entered fields I'm actually do most of my work on it this weekend I've done one pass through most of the races I I'm still at the stage right now of just trying to you know catch up on all the replays have missed it and trying to get all that stuff done first before I start looking at the horses and races individually but you know one race that I keep have so mark keep going back to I think and I think this is mostly because and this is you know they could come into play what we were talking about what favorites mostly because I don't you know I feel like everybody sort of looking at and saying well Kinsey feels like a really he's GonNa take money and he just feels like a really vulnerable horse in that race for a lot of d for reasons you know we'll see what happens as far as how they bet the race I just feel like that's the one where he is going to be you know the favorite or closed to that you know he seems like a horse is worth you know just trying to beat in this race we all know that if he runs his best full probably win it just doesn't feel like a mile orders what he really wants so I started with that race and you know it's interesting because you know I I know that there are several horses in there and this includes the jockey club Gold Cup onto finishers you know who code of honor and Vino Rosso and they obviously both win and I'm not particularly enamoured of either of them I get the case for both of them then it just sort of opened the race up a little bit to me and the more I'm looking at it right now away I feel like satisfied higher power is very interesting you know he's still sort of a one hit wonder but if he runs a specific class ethics whole probably win even though that's the kind of race where when I looked at it I don't know there were so many no-shows in there I it's just hard for me to get a real you'll handle on that race but I'm not against him leaving him you know really up there and open right now but the other horse that I keep coming back to in the class right now anyway as your data for my and this is nice this as being somebody who's never been a huge fan of I always preferred him as a tear for us the more I look at his dirt form the more I like this and I you know maybe this is sort of a serotonin thing because he's run I think I think he's run in all of his Saratoga races one of those races he can beat the field his to me his Whitney and his word we're both I think really really good efforts and and his Woodward in particular where I think it could get sort of lost shuffle he wound up showing up late for third in that race but I don't know the way the trip that he got in that race taken back and you know the pace was really holding together in front of him he he made a pretty big run into that race I thought considering the trick we got McKinsey dust in the Whitney but that was a good McKenzie and I don't and this horse to me ran almost as well as McKinsey did and the Whitney and if McKinley doesn't want a mile and a quarter and this source can just run as well and the Breeders Cup this year as he ran last year when I thought he was actually a sneaky good forth I don't know I think this is a race that he could win and he just feels like a horse who maybe just won't get that much attention with all the other options that there are out there and this is sort of a wide open breeders cup well and I had to get my express bet piece done this week and it drops today usually right around nude actually and I'll send out the link and I picked you she the second behind Rosso and for all those same reasons and the he is he looks like draw some Meyer as much as you know as as comparisons can be made and not every you know you can you can kinda jury rig anything but I I I will say one thing about that further not only does he look like drizzle Meyer but Mackenzie looks game on dude you know what actually very good point you're right I suppose the one thing with your sheet if you know if I can it's you can have anything different he just wouldn't be as dependent on trip paces years because you just know where he's going to be early and you know that's not that I love what I'm betting any horse especially in a race where you know he really doesn't hold any edge was going to be coming from Latin I don't like that but everything else to me he hasn't misery yeah it it does feel like you you don't WanNa lose touch with this with this field that you've you do want to be in the front half and he's got you know I think he's got enough tactical tactical ability to remain close Vino Rosso is why ended up burning on top for now let's let's see how they light up and everything else and we also want to see what this you know it's hard to know people asked to ready you know what the track will be like well you know that they're going to continue to maintain that Dennis Moore is is going to continue to maintain it you know deep and quiet and and safe quote unquote and that part I don't think you're GONNA you're not GonNa get a tighter liquor version of that track on Breeders Cup weekend yeah I I I definitely don't think you are I think you're gonNA get more of the same out there I mean you know whether it's fan slow or however all that stuff is he doesn't have to be fair so that horses aren't compromised just because of whatever they're running who who were the the short prices that that you initially feel are are vulnerable particularly vulnerable beside McKee Z. now I don't know if I feel like you know it's obviously it feels necessarily feel like she was that vulnerable and that's mostly because I'm not a particular fan of the three year old fillies common a race like that and it just feels like she sorta towers over she's already.

"You know they got the John Henry not not much. I don't see any any Breeders Cup Aspirin Zoom there Oughta Mingas you know knocking. They're all the basically as we all the same wars there's not a lot of speed is GonNa make baby shower Richard Ball distance and and and ritzy trying to get this across the finish assigned the last couple of times. It's a big odd you might have a shot and and you always gotTa Watch after Pratt here on this earth magic man. He's been having a wonderful year so keep your eye on him on the grab. you know same with Dr Came Up. A little light is six worst yield. No speed so you know does does mirth have a chance to take them all the way I think I think thinks she might but not a whole lot. In there will recall probably is the best source on paper but once again I think I think just division was just run out of gas. I think we probably would probably run the eight nine Kennedy's since the beginning of the year and this is the last one I think that some of them just put up the white flag and said I've had enough the awesome again looks to me to be a match race between higher power and and and McKenzie I think they'll show up a little bit of their stuff. Jay had a good comment with view. These guys are already in they don't have to you know go all out to to to get into the race when I came to the race obvious talking about the classic ethic so you know they'll probably not many tank and this here seeking assault now. This is one of those those voices for me when I totally don't get a chance Dan that's when he win when he looks like he's should win. Sometimes does so he's here. He's here for the long haul. He's doing what what gunrunner did a few few years ago Oh and with the the that del Mar came here gate here which I think is a smart move if you couldn't do it and get a little prayer and I think amount of a quarter is is. He's got like that but he's also wanting a modern it so I guess that every time I taught him he's GonNa you need to look at them but this really does look like a mattress between between clean those top two then they may move these and Yada to Sunday and got five of them in there and I gotta go at the House source. Here's the spice had a couple of good trips last night and got caught on the wire both times but little red feather and Bobby Flay Pratt back in the bike and paradise would sometimes you never know which one you're going to get the one that that goes on to the goes out front and just run off their feet or the one that's just don't like running today but but anyway some good steaks here and there's something we have a good have a good good weekend and the also is east on the Jockey Club which came up good with five horses. I think maybe today's asses day tomorrow. Be Taciturn in a topsy Turvy Division Hammer get out there and pressed the flesh as as you're doing and delighted about the opportunity to teach some classes classes at the U. OF A. We'll catch up next week that sounds great and yeah it's all good and have a great weekend everybody talking next week Rick Camberley away go on twitter I sent out Re tweeted that picture from yesterday which has just been been emotional. Do you never know what no I I I will I will let that let that comment lie and look forward to catching up at senior soon as soon as next week actually backs out there I appreciate it Mike Beer and diarra beer on twitter and his analysis every day in the form. Let's take a break go out to hammer. He's at clockers corner owner and he's got these little little piece of news. He's got himself something to do. Do the next couple of months I think people will get kicked out of recovering the next et derosa Jeff Siegel stay with aspirations with Steve on Sirius Xm radio hey what's going on. Mike here and I'm going to tell you about an offer from my good friends at express but let's be honest. We know you love playing the race but you can't can't always make it to the track. Sometimes life just gets away of a good bet. What if I told you about a place? We never miss that and you start with house money. You'd say say I'm crazy right will not express that you first.

"All about the wedding. They won't listen to DOC SAM it. We're back at the races scissor sisters. This always makes me think Irani Bex I. It makes me think he'd be. It's personified. We turn the corner year yeah well. We're actually at twenty minutes in and we're I admit it. I'm a little punchy because we were up watching the Eagles still until twelve o'clock plus at and then the problem watching those games is you you. You can't just lie down. I mean especially you win. You Win with twenty seconds laughed at your to keyed up to just lay down so thank you spend some time on twitter you know putting out but not some fly eagles fly material so I I don't think I don't think I fell asleep. The one thirty due to a clock so there may be may may have to be a little before Tina gets home from school today. They have to sneak it a little a little freshening warning Mike beer standing by Mike late night with the eagles yeah yeah yeah pollen for you guys L. by God. You have no idea we were at the lions game because we we got these crazy four years in a row. There's been this Eagle Game Sunday day after Castilian Pennsylvania Derby and so we were not only was it a short week for for the team. It's a short week for us for the fans. I team tonight at the big weekend. Luckily she's doing all driving a milk in this this detach all it's worth and yeah so so now we got a nice nice eleven daybreak or whatever it is I can I write big. This was is big and we can focus. Frankly I love it because with so much going on Mike including the empire six the first downstate distribution on Sunday day and it should be sizeable even though Gulfstream has got the eight hundred pound gorilla. I thought I thought the the Beaumont along with next Sunday I thought they said I thought they said Sunday. I'll have to look at that again. I thought running Yeah Greg Greenwich tweeted we did. What did he say? I thought he said I think it's next on all right lied. I tweeted it and maybe you're right. No you're absolutely Louis right good all right so we don't have to deal with all right. Thank you because I read it as yeah yeah yeah all right so it's next Sunday good right so that's one less one less really get a little break after their yeah after rush tomorrow. I guess although I don't know how much of a rush it is is in New York but there's there's a lot of good racing obviously around the UH. The stakes races took up to that pretty tomorrow at seems like well and it's funny because before they drew we kind of knew I talked to Andrew burned on Tuesday morning before Andy was on and I wanted to get a handle. We knew that we knew that the Goal Cup was going to be narrow but frankly i. This is one of those scenarios where it's like. Do we really we really we need a bunch of filler that you know when you've got the kind of headliners that are involved and it's funny the race that didn't look like it was going to have more than four the vase Burg ends up getting six in the box but now promises fulfilled worked today and he's going to stay in Kentucky and run in the Phoenix. Thanks also got word that call Paul is going to run in that stake down at Delaware so we're back to four or about the floor yeah. That's unfortunate fortunate that race yeah I mean I hear I hear what you're saying about the Jockey Club at least you know it's it's still a compelling race with you know for you and I really got to watch the IT'd be interesting to see what the do you know and even the turf stakes is good. I thought the pilgrim came up a a pretty interesting race important that the other two you know you're GonNa have very very big favorites in short field and that's you know that's that's a shame for for racism caliber. That's for sure and there's there's other interesting races on the card. If you're an early pick five if player you've got a couple of good size fields with the second and the fifth you've got two year old baby races one go along along on the grass. That's the fifth and then one that is a on the main track. I did notice in that second race. We're doing a little pedigree work and I saw that Captain Bombastic that my angle heart sends out first time starter that's a sibling of highway star and the people need to be aware of that and I told everybody about laughable in that fifth race. That's the full sister to quip right yeah the good news for our you know a couple of disappointing draws and the grades and the great ones is supporting guard is actually very good. It's it's very interesting. There's a lot going on and those races and they're bigger field. You know a little break and race for perhaps been you know can sit back and watch midnight to do her thing and otherwise. You got a pretty interesting well. Let's touch on. Let's touch on the stakes and then we can maybe fill in some of the blanks that maybe maybe some spot plays as well and let's start with the feature because this Gold Cup always at this time of year when Three Year Old Sartre facing elders this is one of the one of the cornerstones of of of racing and being able to to judge what kind of a crop you've got when the three year old's face the elders and tacitus and code of honor they feel like because they feel like legitimate win candidates against Vino Rosso and preservationists and I know that Ron Paige Lucia and rob has seemingly stole this Olympic Village village away from Mrs Weber and trump better for seventy five thousand. I don't I think they expected to get to have him claimed and they love what he's done since they acquired him and he looks like a pretty nice horse. I mean obviously there. Are you know sort of shooting for the stars ars here first time with that horse you know he's just so lightly raised but you know what's he done wrong in his career with surprised that they let them go for seventy five off that laying off and he actually looked good winning that race too so you know we'll see you know how he shakes out. Obviously you know him. Facing the four horses to is inside is just was too tall and order. It seemed like but it'll be interesting to see what he does. I you know I looked at the race and felt like you know I agree with you and that at this time of year you want career goal is to be stepping up and races like this. I can only assume the connections US Tacitus Code of honor. You know maybe kicking themselves a little bit that they didn't run last weekend guns in the Pennsylvania Derby but you know what they pointed for this race it's good to have both of them here. You know I'm I'm sort of interested to see what they do. My my initial take on the race is just as I I actually feel like. preservationists is one of the top two three or four a handicap forces in the country. I think he's actually really good and so you know we'll see if he if he proves that on Saturday but I I just think it's GonNa be hard for the three year. Olds to beat preservation not only just based on their raises. He's been running this year for Jimmy Jerkins and his Woodward last I know it wasn't you know a vintage field but he was really good in their basically only clear to run inside the final eighth of a mile once you got clear. He settled there pretty easily. Really I think he's a real good horse Steve and he's also in a short field like this. He's just very handy very tactical. It feels like you could make the running if they have have to. you know if somebody else seems like they're they're intent on lead. You can let them have it. You can just sorta do whatever you want the one time that he did run his good race this year during the Whitney you know that just to me. He has huge excuse in that race the trip that he got from the outside posing not blaming junior Alvarado for got caught wide on the first turn on and I think he just felt like he had a push the button and I think it costs but I just think he's a really good horse. I you know I don't WanNa play the three year olds against him. I respect and appreciate what code honor has done especially since the Kentucky Derby. I feel like after that little two month break. He's come back a much better worse and I like like this travers. I thought he was good. He had a great trip and ride in that race but he also really ran you know I'm sure there are GonNa be people who wanNA give tacitus. You know one more chance won't argue but you know I'm getting a little tired of him and you know he's not get the distance and maybe he'll get the right trip this time and you know what maybe the third choice this time two or even four th choice and that would be good but I I'm not betting that horse I took preservationists I respect expect code of honor also to me. He's just not my kind of horse although he does have a great one over the distance so that makes them a little interesting well and that the fact that ah I brought it up with Jay Brin earlier the fact that that win came at at Santa Anita I is going to loom really large in about about six weeks or five weeks that that is going to look like an absolute beach ball horse horse ran the ran a one zero five buyer over the surface right so maybe maybe next time although I will say this you saw you saw dave grant ex the coverage of that workout the other day and how nicely it seems he's coming in to this race so so I four them and I don't want to be dismissive of Lucia source but the four major wind candidates live with a a you know I agree a little bit of an edge to preservation as because the versatility and because attract ability and junior Alvarado there's a fascinating story actually to be told with junior because very quietly leahey's placed himself you know very close to the elite riders particularly going routes of ground and a and he's done it and gets very little fanfare. I agree. I agree with that. He's he's not far off the top writers that's for sure he's getting you know he's getting some. I'm opportunities now and he he seems like he makes the most of them to. He's the guy that you can really rely on and you know and he gets he gets a lot of horses horses that big prices you do not do not want to this mess when he's riding horses real good trips and every chance to win. It's been a struggle actually going going into must have printed. This actually printed this yesterday. These are the final so he was going at the yesterday. He was one for one for twenty five going into the yeah. It's the fire yeah. Well Mike the COP spending too much time at Yankee Stadium and Zing talk about the pilgrim and tug o they be drawing the rail was exactly what I talked to my the the other day after his big weekend and this Aleve Jose Luis Cano no choice he'll go forward with Tugela when the bell rings and well you would hope they would do with this time I guess the way they would look at him as the Kinda WanNa give him another chance on turf because he's this is what these really bright for. He's got a really nice pedigree for this. I still can't figure out what the plan was in the with anticipation. You had the rail that day. he broke fine he was forward up the you know first time through the stretch and for whatever reason I guess it was the plan going in the they didn't want the lead with them. They tried to rate him. and that did not workout. He wound up getting himself into some trouble in that race. you know after that. He didn't really do any running I overall on it was a very disappointing appointing turf debut for him but I consider stand giving them another chance. I have to assume they're going to try and put him on the front this time and see if it makes a difference you know alternately when I went through the race Steve. I don't love the with anticipation as a race overall. I understand that tuggle on has an excuse. Excuse me certainly our country. who was the favorite in that race has an excuse? He has an even bigger. Excuse to toggle does we just broke very poorly. He got very ranked. he wound up having to come to the outside and I think he ran great but I do think he deserves another chance out of the race. I just you know I wasn't blown away by him. As to Saratoga starts prior tired of that I kinda you know at the end of the day decided that I don't really want the with their anticipation is coming back on Saturday and so it just sorta left me to sort of filter through the the recent maiden winners you know ultimately no knocks on Fletcher source Iran fine. He got a figure. The source has a really nice pedigree. He's got a good inside post..

"It's a layoff you know that always concerned. I don't like to take forces off a layoffs if i can help but he if he's going to be a price in this race i'm just going to bed. I think this is sort of a wide open race but <hes> their horses in your who who have some improving to do. I think this is gonna take a big step forward. I'm going to bet him and i could give pain another chance he he was very disappointing lifetime but it's racist to three back making way to tougher this. I feel so <hes> you know pain and and and titanic for me but i'll i'll bet titanic goes off anywhere near as morning line nice <hes> and i i thought that <hes> there were any number of horses that could win here and in fact i was talking to gary last night <hes> cecillia. "This is a big distant family on the bottom he he's supposed to do a lot better stretching out and he was running at the end of that rich well you also get Louis Sayas who continues on horses on the front end to us make everybody else look like doc complete amateurs and maybe I'm maybe I'm a little biased because I'm looking up here at pictures of pretension and Williams Lucky Gray Louis One <hes> three raises for US exactly the same way without who who would have probably an aggressive could could be effective and he he he takes over he backs it up into everybody's face and then he does something I I love he spurts away at into the turn and all of a sudden everybody's panic stricken and his horse is full run and everybody else suddenly starts to pump he also he'll also do it. At the the top of the stretch and I love the way he completely you know puts everybody on the defensive and I think right great strategy with the speed horse to instead of you know <music> get into the front and suddenly and it's a great strategy to get everybody chasing behind you. It's a it's a huge advantage when you can get those horses chasing and not sitting there comfortably just tracking off you I mean he does it perfectly. You know almost every time well <hes> Mike this was great and informative will do some more Saratoga with Nick Tamra in a little bit but still gotta get the hammer and Rosa and then later my. I don't know how I'm going to do this. We have an hour or in nine minutes and we're going to have to sprint to the to the wire. Mike Beer Good luck today tomorrow. Sunday the Amsterdam you mentioned and <hes> looks like <hes> for Lucky. The rain will avoid us. We couldn't have gotten gotten more unlucky yesterday correct. Hopefully the weather cooperates hope. Everybody has a successful weekend Steve. I'll talk to yourself. Mike Beer folks another tremendous visit and you know what I think <hes> Joe we have to stay because <hes> we cannot be given up two and a half three minute breaks between now and the end so let's get after a hammer in here because I know he's got <hes> quite a bit to do all right yeah. Let's get <hes> we got rick. We got Ed Nick Nancy and Berry boy. I I kind of we kind of overloaded well. We have to spend that time with Jay because in the Holland door for news important and wanted to get it right and when you when it's important and you want to get it right Jay proven <hes> your go-to and he will be in the courtroom today so <hes> <hes> let's stay the course and hammer kicking around and I think he's with us now good morning Steve How are you. I'm good. I'm good greetings from Sunny California <hes> <hes> well. I I'll say sunny New York too but I was thinking the same thing yesterday morning at this time and next thing I knew the portion of the track was washed away pretty wild but <hes> you're used to it and things happen and that Kinda it gets boring out here sunny every day. Sometimes I'm not saying that as it does get boring I enjoy a little bit of weather every now and again so <hes> maybe not in the middle of a race card but <hes> exactly right right but <hes> I you know I wanted to.
