"It is always brought to you by a good friends at Dorton Volvo ob yards or would you like to start today's top I'd like to begin at target field or the twins and the brewers. Tip. Off here in about an hour with Jose burritos on the mound and the twins are looking to rebound after nine three. So I was watching the kids to bed last night. Yeah. This is how the twins of conditioning. And I was walking out after I put the kids to bed and I wanted to watch a little bit of the convention. So I flipped it to fsn Furman. And I saw the score I. Think at that point was eight one I. Oh, man crews probably hit a couple of dogs maybe boxton headed on richhill savvy veteran put together a nice ball game and say, all right I'm GonNa go I'm GonNa see Hillary's talking tonight president. Obama's talking tonight Kamla Harris. With Warren every you know it's kind of a big night at the convention. Let's see. didn't realize until this morning the twins down eight one would go on to lose nine three because richhill did not pitch a now savvy veteran as you laid out in the earlier in the show three o'clock to productive innings than the wheels fell off, you gave up four runs in the third and that was pretty much is day two and two thirds innings, four hits, four runs I hit some earned they had some tape measure donkey, yeah Yelich. Stud So the twins lose but we win I think you have the quotes in front of you Richhill after the game, we don't have a very big sample size of chill because he just got here and he spent some time on the injury report but people were kind of wondering what would richhill have to say about his performance at how might that intrigued the bumper to bumper show by the way if you hear a bit of a wind in the background because we're still an on location TCI performance center where we've been all day or I should say. Starting at three Mike Zimmer monarch guests more on that later But I don't want you to be too distracted by what's here is a very nice breeze but sometimes, the audio gets a little bit funky in that regard Richhill. was. It sounds as if of given an opportunity by the media jackals to alibi his way out of the crappy performance could question the setup was a look. You we got a sore shoulder. You've been on the injured list in ordinarily. You'd have a minor league rehab assignment being given to you. In which case you'd get to face some real game action instead all you had to do to prop. Was Face Reserve hitters in training at C. H. S. Field Taxi Squad in Saint Paul. So the intimation there was well could this in part explain why you're so miserable in this game and to rich hills Ever loving credit he did not take the bait. Or the opportunity to grab onto the alibi he said I really can't point to that when you get the opportunity to take all go out there you got to perform and there are no excuses. That's the way I look at it pretty much cut and dried bottomline guy did not pitch well, I hold myself to a really high standard and that was pretty pathetic. That's definitely worth. One health might be worth a health and a half you suggested maybe even renaming we'll see where this goes. You'll see how he carries it. Yeah. Hopefully, the twins won't be in a situation where he's getting pounded every game and we have two great him. The same way to here's my question. How many pelts Will we give Burritos. If he struggles yet again, I know because sooner or later he's going to have to figure this thing out and he's got another chance to right the old ship here. The team is basically been after the incredible start that was not going to be sustained right? They basically been a five hundred team. but they've limped along a little bit. They're sixteen and nine, and they got some teams chasing him. Now I think the White Sox one again today they've won five in a row and Cleveland's red hot one, five, hundred dollar half game out there half game white sox game and a half. So again, it's another great opportunity for burritos to say I, WanNa believe on the ace I want people to think on the as out and get that done burt bly Levin challenged him in that regard last time he pitched and he didn't and he didn't answer the challenge. So let's see if he does tonight When clearly he has been at best. The best pitcher in the rotation. Well, it's August. But it's But it's late. It's early but it's early and it's late. But this is when Burritos is always terrible. The law of August since I WANNA look at. He's always great early in a season I know I'm just looking at. Terms if you pay attention to the count I'm just looking at the calendar August. He was awful September. He was even worse. It's strange. He's picked up right where he left the I'm not sure what goes on I'm not sure what's happening but he is the starting pitcher tonight the twins as I mentioned are half game up of Cleveland I game and half of Chicago Their postseason percentage Dan Still Ninety, eight, point seven percent yeah it's hard because. Almost everybody's GonNa make it. I mean the white sox right now third in division as you mentioned, they have an eighty nine point, eight percent chance making can't make it up because you've got wildcards you've got first and second teams in and then the third and fourth wildcard. That's why I was about to say we got showdown series in Cleveland next week but is it really a showdown seared? I've seen this maybe for the division hanging banners hangman. Some seating because there is we're GONNA have to? Get, eventually. Deep into the seating, which is interesting and helpful. If you have a higher seed I think most people believe. But yeah, there's not a hell. There's still not a hell of a lot of drama as it pertains to. Make the postseason. It is interesting how deep suddenly this division appears to be to look at least at this point you know when you do like a fundraising thing either do it online or you would drive by. Like a bank, for example, and they'd be trying to raise money for the community and would have the thermometer and kind of keep you posted like we're trying to raise fifty grand and then add ten, twenty, thirty forty and you make it read you go up. I'm envisioning if we had a health monitor pell thermometer that when you hit the goal, it just explodes and you've got red everywhere and everybody's excited. 'cause he hit the goal. That's what I'm a magic the monitor for richhill night overflowed or do like the jalameed remember the Hallam meter at target center years ago. Yeah. To get people pumped up once it got to a certain decibel level and I'm saying quotations glass would just break stumble Tron health. That's what I imagine for the rich hill health because. Even. That go Dan that guys accountable. And there was nobody more accountable than Mike pelfrey. No I've been history baseball, the madman the no pitcher more accountable than than than than Pelfrey so we'll see. If it will come into play. After tonight's game as well because that would not be helpful visit twins. The Minnesota Lynx erased a fifteen point third quarter deficit last night to beat the Dallas Wings Ninety one, eighty, four in the wobble as they call it the wobble in braiding to Florida Rookie Critter Crystal Dangerfield scored twenty, one points six assists and Nafisa collar added eighteen as well. Out of got another good rookie dangerfield came in I remember the. First game watching XS during a cake show. I was watching it kind of towards the end. They start at eleven o'clock basically right with my show and she in the fourth quarter kind of the same thing they were down there wasn't really going. Well, she got a bucket made a couple of steel's got another bucket and all of a sudden links one that's pretty much what she's done and they are eight and three now. On the season, they've got eleven more games in the regular season I looked up from our conversation after the after the first time we talked about it. So they've got they're basically a little bit past the halfway point with their eight and three record all that would be the halfway point I? Guess it would be yeah. Twenty two I can do the math on that man twenty, two Miami Lavin's a letter saying. So we're halfway through the schedule were sitting there very gotti eight and three three despite the fact that we still don't have waylon we still don't have my more no, no fact we still don't have Simone Augusta's she's. Other people, but we just keep winning. Tomorrow night. Has Been.

"To Dolphin I never said I. They asked me was he going to be and I said yes, and so everybody assumed that I talked to him and so That's kind of where that went. You know I i. don't WanNa. Get into it. You know I loved Alvin I'M GONNA. Make him a captain. can because of the things that he represents here and and You know the way he's gone about his business and works but one of the things that you know that. He and I get it. You know everybody wants to get paid what they feel their worth and and I hope he gets as much as he can, but I also hope he's playing for us and you know under contract, so we'll see where that goes, but I love the kid myself and and he's a terrific football player, but he's he's been a great asset to our to our team in our locker room as well doubt Dalvin offensive captain. You only have one captain on the offense, right? I might have a few more this year. Okay, and defensively. Can't. I mean Kendricks I would imagine what what for many reasons be guy right. "SMART goes in your ears, which is nine to noon. At FM, one hundred point three Kfi am Mike Zimmer head coach of the Minnesota Vikings set to join US shortly chat about myriad football related topics, Lavelli, Neil, the third negotiating a drive from Chicago to the cornfields concrete jungle. The cornfields to discuss. The minister twins weekend, two out of three, indeed wasn't bad. Copyright meatloaf against the Chicago White Sox redbirds tomorrow, thou, and much more coming up in the final hour of the nine to noon radio show as we welcome our dear friend Mike. Zimmer head coach of the Minnesota Vikings into the Love Covenant at Kfi Am Mike Up Congratulations on the new deal of you. made any big buys with with the new deal so far like shotguns or anything. Now I really haven't. I did buy a little pontoon boats lake in Kentucky, but that was before. That's about it. That's A. Tiny one. You know we got lakes air. Yeah I know you can you can. You can get a pontoon like chill out here. I mean with you got twenty twenty plus three so clearly plenty of time for pond tuning on the lakes of Minnesota right coach. Yeah I'd like to get out on the legs Minnesota a little bit, but You know it's kind of hard during the season. Let me, let me ask you this weird question. Even if it's an agent, negotiating a deal isn't working on something like a new deal. If isn't it like weird and mind consuming when when when you're not right in the thick of the negotiations, but it involves you. Yeah, it is it is a little bit strange you know my agent Marvin Demo Fish, just terrific, and he did a great job with this, and and as as a as that everybody here with the Vikings, but You know I would hear from him. You know maybe once a week. He call and then say what talked to him three times this week and you know things like that so Yeah, you know it's just it's just the process of waiting. I guess is makes makes it a little bit more difficult. Like the weird part I mean it's because you're not talking directly to those who are set to pay you, and and clearly you're unbelievably well respected NFC title game on the Division. A couple of times one of the great defensive mines in the history of the game, and and and you know you don't talk about yourself like that, but people talk about you like. Like that so I- negotiating, it's just weird man. I mean like. If you started a dollar, you know somebody else start at fifty cents then you're trying to get up there around eighty five or ninety, and then like say they come back and like a sixty two and you're like hello. Didn't you watch the Saints Playoff game with ninety seven, ninety nine inside, that was me. You gotta think about things like that, you know. Yeah well, you know You know the way they do it the way they do in the NFL basically as they compare you to someone, and then you, you counteract okay well, you know I don't think I'm that person on this person you know comparative to other coaches and things like that, and but it you know. Once. You get past that part you start. You start talking years in in dollars. Then you know really. The Vikings were really really good. They were very You know a very respectful with everything and and. You know they actually. Added some things I probably wouldn't even have wanted. Did did any coach? Related comparisons like compare you to rich Kotite. BELIEVE SO! I don't sleep. that'd be old school, though how Mike how How are things not c? I haven't been there in four months now. You've been there and you know for a week two weeks change whatever, but just overall. How are things at twin cities orthopedics performance center. It is different you know there's there's arrows on the floors everywhere where you supposed to walk and you know everybody's wearing a mask and today we started with these. contact tracers that if you get too close to someone else, they blink. Can tell you you gotta be further apart and things like that like Bob was just too close to me a minute ago. I had to tell him. I had to tell him back up. Bob sweet. But You know in the in the players. Are you know and then you gotta go out and get tested every day? You know I've been tested I. Don't know five times already or something like that and so You know so. There's a lot of different things and then. You know I've been working on scanning since since they'd officially said the the you know we're going to. Report on on time we then found out the rules of the schedules and in practices and all that stuff. I've been working on those for really nonstop for three three straight days. Finally got that kind of organized now and You know so and I'm sure they'll be changes. You know the protocols going to change us as we continue. Get going, but It's a very sterile environment environment air I. Guess is the best way to say it you Mark Ziggy Leonard the will family. Legitimately seriously you and the whales have a really good thing I mean say you know say you wanted the dollar and whatever they started at whatever put put everything into context over six plus years. You and the will family. You guys have a really good thing Mike. We Really. Do you know they're? They're terrific. People Number One They just want to win as bad as everybody else but they've been. You know they've been terrific. You know like when my dad died you know or be right. Before he died, they flew me down to to see him during training camp. you know on on their jets the couple days, and I miss camp there that that time to see him, but you know they're. They're very family oriented. important to them, and and you know they're. They're good people to be around and they. You know I love love. Just having the opportunity work here I told the you know like I, said the other day I DIDN'T WANNA. Go anywhere else you know. If you came to that, I would have, but I didn't WanNA. Go anywhere else. I just wanted to be here in coach coach. These players be with the people everybody except Bob People here in this building the ownership that we have You know it's we feel like we've. We've come together built this thing up for for six six years now and hopefully it'll be you know at least ten but You know it's it's. It's something that you want to continue to. Feel comfortable with the players and ownership, and and the facilities and the fans. The fans have been unbelievable. You Know I. Hope that we get to get him in our stadium. When we play when we play games, 'cause you know I want to school chant going all the time and other out on the field so It's been it's been A. Terrific six years so far I'll play. It'll be even better than the let these last four off that off games and the potential of no fans. How hard have you guys worked on protecting signals and calls in Families Stadium's. Really got to that point yet, but but you know Paul Offense is do a defense, do you? Different codewords every single week, In the way that you that you make your calls. You have different signals every week so you know typically you don't get a lot of a lot of things. stolen that way. I will say this it would. Have to do it. We'll do it, but it would suck nothing to have. Our fans are in in our stadium that you know that's one of the most exciting things about playing here in. The US.

And we're hoping it's a good day in our sports neighborhood. And across the pond is I mandated to say is an American sports. Broadcaster would have my Karma. There's two things as an American sports broadcaster have to do if anything happens in Australia. That sporting event has to a must say that. It's occurring down under again if I don't use that then. My my my sports casting card gets revoked and if anything happens in the United Kingdom. It's across the pond which is amazing because France is also across the pond. We don't say that we don't you know it's there on the other side of the Atlantic Italy's on the other side of the Atlantic spacing that side of this land so as the United Kingdom but across the pond across the pond. This is a nice bit of news certainly for our friends on. Nbc S in the Premier League to restart and Al June seventeenth. Let's go and can it's premier league now. "Radio back to the NFL some big moves Monday as the talking began Tom Brady hasn't made a decision although some of the decisions may be impacting him meanwhile we know Amari Cooper will be staying with Dallas end the bills reportedly acquiring Stefon Diggs of the Vikings for four draft picks earlier on ESPN radio on Freddie inferred Simmons giving up a first fifth sixth for a guy who has been a massive headache in your locker room for the last two years and and during a you know a playoff game wild card game against the saints when I got but ends up winning the game right exactly Kirk cousins goes to Kyle Rudolph instead of digs no no I'm not some of the game winning touchdown time out at third or those of third down conversion and and they converted and digs goes off the field and throws his helmet into the bench do it you got a first down you about winning the game were just by yourself oh wait yeah we we we we know what you're about so I don't get giving up that much to get him outside from the public but from a kid a skill standpoint I do get it I knew they would take that better back to back thousand yard seasons I mean he is a remarkable talent my problem with Gallic Biggs is in the room because when he's not being targeted he's a pain in the rear end I wonder how much of this is the findings wanted out of Minnesota so badly that he was going to act like that now I'm not trying to explain it not condoning it all in but I wonder how much a whatever led to him wanting a break wanting a divorce in the Minnesota Vikings whatever that was it could be Adam Phelan and his emergence or you want to play a Kirk cousins wait a problem Mike Zimmer whatever it was the findings have enough for Minnesota and he did everything possible verbally invent action wise to make sure that they were not going to keep him even early today when Kirk cousins got his extension the findings was not have a leader was not even Catholic high thought he said I guess it's time to get out here tell me about the Minnesota he was determined to get out of whatever led to the break I don't know what it was but he got his wish now the findings you got what you want to handle it because if you don't people gonna say you had a good thing going to Minnesota where they were building my United Phelan and that wasn't good enough for you buffalo reportedly sending four picks to Minnesota a first a fifth or sixth in twenty twenty and a fourth rounder in twenty twenty one while also getting a seventh rounder back this spring from the Vikings Diggs is in the second year of a five year seventy two million

Diamondbacks' Madison Bumgarner secretly competes in rodeo events

"Arizona Diamondbacks left hander Madison Bumgarner has been competing in rodeo events under the alias Mason's Saunders and even one of twenty six thousand five hundred sixty dollars and a team roping competition in December according to a story published Sunday by the athletic Bumgardner was told I told the website that he has discreetly competed in rodeos for awhile including in March of last year two days before pitching for the San Francisco Giants in a cactus league spring training game he's been roping since he was fifteen or sixteen and said he's been added so long that quote it's just part of who you are he's the twenty fourteen World Series MVP if he agreed to an eighty five million dollar five year contract with the Diamondbacks this past December and I'm sorry Courtney if I was the diamond backs I wouldn't be thrilled to find out that my ace left hander yes competing in rodeos in the offseason this is the same guy who got injured on a dirt bike do not remember that when he was with the giants and that was a serious injury that put him out for a very long time no wonder he was performing I guess you want to call that under a pseudonym or a fake name because had you found out about this the Diamondbacks might not have spent eighty eighty five million dollar a gigantic sum over a five year contract on this guy I mean it doesn't make any sense like I understand the thrill of competition and this is who we is but these risky things every sport has stuff like this written into players contracts that you cannot do I mean I always go back to when it when he got hurt in San Francisco a few years ago do you remember the month Taylor's thing when he was with the warriors he fell off the scooter when he went back to Mississippi for the offseason S. lied about it yeah that was a story that came to mind and I feel like any time something like this it comes to the light I'm not one of these people is like all the cool funny look how cute of the story is I'm like what is he thinking like you get injured and made these you know these are animals eat these things have a mind of their own they're powerful they're strong and certainly he's you know well conditioned and knows how to be around horses but you know that to me is way too big of a risk if I'm a professional athlete you know the prime of my career to take but you know he's done it before and that he is you know we don't really get that much of outside having serious injuries at receiver big penalty from the team for you know the motorbike thing according to have the details how did he come up with the alias of Mason's Saunders instead of going with you know his own name Madison Bumgarner sell it this came from directly from the athletic article that broke the story said quote if you competed as Madison Bumgarner every phone camera in the area that would have been trained on him he said so he devised Mason Saunders the surname is the maiden name of his wife Allie Mason is a shortened version for Madison and it's something allegedly his wife called him out in public so people don't recognize them so very clever I'll give him that but I don't think the whole thing is a buzz saw her story totally bizarre and the other thing is you know if this was an NBA player everybody would recognize them already because NBA players are actually recognizable it just goes to show you how anonymous baseball players are that the most clutch postseason pitcher maybe of all time can compete in rodeos and nappy racket I think what I know it's wild lake in the in the fact is here like he continues to go what do these very risky things it just doesn't seem to care yeah if you get caught I mean there's the photo in that athletic article where he's smiling and you know he's with I guess that it's a two person thing that team roping so I hope twenty six thousand dollars I hope that Madison Bumgarner did not keep that for myself given the gigantic contract he just signed in December the but yeah he looks he's not there we is in this picture I mean I just think it's hilarious how almost incognito so many baseball players can live their lives in that matter just because they blend in because they're not these gigantic athletes by and large I mean they're not six eight or you know they don't think Shaquille o'neal out there everybody would be able to tell if you're you know for the most part with NBA athletes I just don't understand why when you have hit the genetic lottery anyway to be able to throw the ball a hundred miles an hour the end and to be able to make eighty six million dollars really it's more than that doing this why you would ever risk your body or put like what your fans in your organization is rooting for on the line so recklessly and you pointed out he already ruined the giants season aired my fantasy baseball season which is far more important Courtney by falling off of that dirt bike a couple years ago and here he is I guess he says I'm just going to live my life and Diamondbacks GM Mike Hazen told the athletic that quote he was not going to get into discussing specific contract language but you pointed this out that we know the player contracts have I can't imagine that the Diamondbacks are cool with their ace pitcher also being a rodeo road being a cowboy literally let alone they don't want to be a Dallas cowboy let alone in being a literal cowboy well I just remember a couple years ago at the end I felt combine whistle and was talking to Mike Zimmer about you know the quarterback situation at that point he had said that Sam Bradford had a degenerative knee I come to find out later that offseason I was speaking with Kyle Rudolph who said that he went skiing with Sam Bradford that off season right around the time of the combine so I'm thinking to myself you are here you are a health concern and you're going skiing or you could very easily risk tearing your ACL for a third time and you already had your season cut short because of injury like I wonder if these guys just do it for the thrill or maybe they just don't care because they have ungodly amounts of money to begin with if they feel like they can the kind of invincible they can do whatever they want but you do wonder like this has to be in contract language if you cannot do things like this because we know across sports there's certain things you're just not able to do I it's a liability reasons you ever been to a rodeo Courtney I half I went Mississippi when I work down there the show but county fair rodeo I've been to the Cheyenne frontier days shout out if you're listening in Cheyenne Wyoming on the ESPN radio affiliate there I gotta tell you it's oddly it is oddly entertaining but the the thrill of it is almost that you think that the that the ball right is just going to charge and block these cowboys into next year it is one of the most dangerous things I have ever seen and I never in my life once thought you know what it be cool to jump in there with these bowls and try to try this on for for my but how do you even practice you know you kind of just have to get in there and and take it on right yeah I guess I guess so what I mean I've seen the photos of Madison Bumgarner I'd taken the horse around the warning track at AT&T park when he was still a giant I just think that that's who he is this is got this guy is a country bumpkin at heart from North Carolina and I I just think that he grew up this way and it's always gonna be a part of him so he feels like Hey I'm an able bodied individual and I also have more money than anybody at this rodeo thing I'm gonna do what I want and it's somebody else take issue with it I'm sure they actually would found out about it right now well look I know why it's so good in the clutch in game seven of the World Series because if that that's nothing compared to facing down the eyes of a bull

Cowboys to move on without Jason Garrett

"Jason Garrett's time up as coach of the Dallas Cowboys Edward a reporting Jerry Stephen Jones have decided coach will not be part of the organization moving forward on Friday and paid Simmons on why this process lasted so long after the season to other Jerry and Stephen Jones have moved slowly out of respect for Jason Garrett you know they have a long history with him as a backup quarterback you to this is that coach a head coach's father was in the organization when Jerry bapa team as a scout and they finally concluded that phase of this process and that's going to end with Jason Garrett not being a part of the organization beyond his expiring contract and when exactly they make that announcement I thought sure what I've been told soon and that the next phase will have them moving into the process of interviewing candidates in the battle begin quickly after phase one is totally finished off yes was contract set to expire January fourteenth status with the team at issue since last February the cowboys didn't give a contract extension they missed the playoffs in twenty nineteen finish eight neighbor the four time in his tenure as coach Keyshawn Johnson on the job candidates and Jerry Jones himself he was on sports and we stand ready to make a decision on it there was the eight their long term in the obvious would clearly felt that their work you say while they waited till Thursday well the food that just won't really it just is so you kind of say okay take a deep breath we get back to the facilities we talk about a little bit we think about we pondered overnight we need or Thursday we meet on Tuesday we meet on Wednesday we have a conversation and we finally so you know women the best thing for us to do if not give the public what they looking for what they looking for me to do is be extremely mad and walk out of there on Sunday night if fire you on the tarmac so instead of doing that this call wait a couple days are you playing for the cowboys you're familiar with Jerry Jones and and and his thinking all what happens next now in this search for the next cowboys head coach I think a guy like Mike Zimmer Minnesota Vikings head coach could potentially be a candidate you say how could that be well I I II coach there in the deepest corner along try defensive coordinator for Jerry Jones is the bill Parcells fact either stay here they know what they're getting in that particular coach but also there's a young officer coordinator in cabin step band he this sitting there in Minnesota the Minnesota Vikings don't want to part ways with him they don't want him all of a sudden start to get interviews and become a category another team so I would be surprised if somehow might dimmer wind up being the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys in the cabinet she takes over as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings so a lot of story lines this call come about here over the next with date but I think this time around you will get the head coaching job right where the coach may be season one more before we go do you think that at this point Jerry Jones is ready to surrender more control to a head coach now then he has been willing to in the past as bill Parcells left and and I want to turn this on your stamina I am right now status is not a defense Jerry Jones was some what he is and even as well as we clay as well as Jerry junior what is your you Jones gone wrong with that organization other than the head coaching hire that's a very good question that's very good everybody everybody everybody said here you're you're here the one on that team thank you for calling the latter team for the National Football League I would I would argue and say that their top five channels it is four tally dole is a National Football League the problem is that head coach because you're you're not holding the plate yeah well that gives the player is a free pass for having innate need season the talent on the field didn't win enough games he and Garrett will finish as the second longest tenured and second most winningest coach in team history Tom Landry a record of eighty five and sixty seven the wonders to playoff games unable to get past the divisional round Mike wells Myron Medcalf on Freddie Fitzsimmons the Dallas Cowboys there you know they draw attention but the the the days of being America's team and wanted to be part of what is age and it's not the same anymore it is not the same strictly because of what you have to deal with away from just coaching of football team is not simply you know put together a strong staff the coaster brakes of Amari Cooper Ezekiel Elliott and dak Prescott it's also having the answer constant questions from your boss the owner Jerry Jones deck could become a headache when you're you can't simply just focus on the task of putting your team in the proper position the try to have success there's a side show that comes with it and some people are built or not built to be able to deal with that so you got to find the right coach who is not only a great Exynos guy but somebody who's mentally strong enough to handle the constant you know looking over the shoulders and the pestering of your boss meddling in the inside of things wonder why things are not going well or to give us suggestions on what you should be doing that's not something easy that everybody can handle that type of situation well it and not everybody wants it and that's why I think a lot of these cultures your Matt rules related rallies urban Meyer's why except that to me if you're not going to modernize the structure of your organization so that your owner can do what every other owner does and take a backseat and not be this forward facing figure who's hosting its own press conferences after the game sometimes undermining the head coach then then how can you expect to attract a great candidate bomb out rule no one eight I'm leaving Baylor I got a chance to build something there if I'm leak in Raleigh I'm in Oklahoma and every year I get a chance to go to the college football playoff leave in Oklahoma where I can coach for another decade at least about continue to succeed ever murmur Meyer I'm not leaving LA or on the TV analyst making good money watching a lot of football injuries bouncing around the country see a lot of teams to go to Dallas where I've got a deal with Jerry that's why I think it's going to be difficult if Jerry Jones wants to continue to be Jerry Jones I don't think Mike he's going to end up with any of the top candidates identifying potential replacements Bobby carpenter and fox college football reporter Bruce Feldman gas on Freddie impede Simmons Stephen Jones Jerry Jones offered that coaching job urban Meyer she would say I think that's a hard job to say no urban probably wouldn't be needing to be for another year is that all you but who knows enough the big job at the glamorous job and remember the nose you know damn owns his courage and damn ongoing expound acted it all back thank god yeah I was supposed to do the oil itself journal part of mine and to buy that it was offered so you're going to want to meet your need to guide it was a proven track record we've done it before who's been in the playoffs the only guy that I look at the newest hires cycle that's really available is Mike McCarthy and it's free thank god I'm not that I'm not the biggest Mike McCarthy stand the world but he's the only guy that it holds no one Barty and that is the only thing that Jerry Jones once he is getting older is that you know you if you spend more time on this earth that he's going to spend has the last was starving if you get that oracle Marty troche with them of the order would love to put it in there Mike you've done that you chose to leave and you've been in the playoffs he's done a good job that would be my selection I don't know if they don't know what it does do checks all

Jerry Jones cryptic about Jason Garrett’s future, says he ‘will be coaching in the NFL next year’

"Listen to the cowboys started the season with high expectations. That is a true statement but now it's a season that has devolved into a race to win the worst division in football. Here we go. That's where we start. Cowboys said at six and six after a disappointing home loss to the bills on Thanksgiving Day and has Dallas prepares to face the bears Thursday night. Jerry Jones continues to answer questions about the future of his head coach Jason Garrett look where we are with our skill set eh look it up toward they are with Ayers and there's nothing to my mind that jumps out of me that we can't be playing well enough to take it to the house Think about there's no exclusive but he's got exclusive skills to get the job so the collectively so you could but they're qualified people WANNA opinion. It'd be coaching Jerry. Jones has been supportive of Jason Garrett. I think it's fair to say that however was an interesting statement with friends like Jerry. Look Coach Ryan. We'll start with eat right in your ear. Yeah I think we should. I think that's a fair assessment. Oh ooh boy. I had my friend Jerry. Jones is not stupid. No right at all. You don't get to the point. He is in life. You don't get be this rich if you're a stupid man man. He's rich enough to not really care like Jerry. Jones knows how the things that he says will be taken. He knows that people on the outside not we'll be listening also people within his organization he understands what a statement like. JC Garrett will be coaching in this league next year. We'll we'll make everybody do. We'll make the people in the building where where where we'll be coaching Jerry coaching. Well he'd be a quarterbacks coach. Well He'd be office coordinator. What you won't see is he will be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys? And that's what matters if you're talking about Jason Garrett and being anywhere which he has done for year in in year out where we wanted him to fire Jason Garrett for being mediocre. He said he's my guy he's my coach. He will be here. I have faith in him. That soon has totally totally changed to love the way. Mike Zimmer coaches football. I don't expect to ever out coach Bill Belichick and if I can't I can't coach Bill Belichick. I expect out coach Adam Gates and not lose to him Jerry. Jones is ready to get rid of dude. Well there's no doubt that the rhetoric and the tone has changed. Now it's interesting. The Point Ryan Makes Jerry Jones. Smart knows what he's saying. You know that was true with physio Elliott as well when he made that Zeke who you know and he said I was kidding. He was kidding but he you know every every job has a morsel of truth he does know what he's saying and he understands stands out it will be portrayed and in this case I think you're right. The unwavering support for Jason Garrett has come to an end actions. Speak Louder than words. So I mean he's given us a lot of words but really the actions he hasn't. He doesn't have a contract going forward next year so he might coach but Jerry say is not going to be here but he thinks appeals kills conflict. It'd be somewhere else to me. You know he the writings on the wall when when the organization says that we have everything you need and you have to want to super bowl or bus. That's all I mean. There's not much talk about. I mean really. It's been laid out there pretty clean and and Jerry feels he's assembled he is the general manager and the owner. He feels he's like these assembled a championship team. And they're not playing like a champion right now. Does that remind you when you go through a break up and the person says you. I don't want to be with you anymore. But the next person is so oh lucky to have you it. Has that same sort of tone like you know. He'll be coaching in the league. Readers don't really probably want him here in Dallas because he has really been inconsistently early on in the season with backing him saying even as Soon as two weeks ago he was saying better things about Jason Garrett and it just seems every time they win he loves them and soon as they start losing or put together a a you know a poor performance immediately changes the tune in he. He likes to keep them on notice. But I think I don't want to speak for you but I think we can all agree that probably the end of the season if they don't make the playoffs this is probably. I'm not even sure I'm not even sure. I think it takes more than a million. It's always going deep is I believe it's always been that for Jason Garrett in this season and this is why he didn't and have a contract going forward but also understand that a huge reason that Jason Garrett is there is because he can deal with this part of coaching for Jerry Jones. And I don't think I you know I think. That's worth sort of underlining not everybody can and coach you but a coach in this league for several teams. It is a different animal when you coach for Jerry Jerry Jones and you have to take the total package. Not Everybody can do that or not and I get. You can't be there have the understand I I'll be honest if I'm there. I would have to have an understanding because it could not go the way it goes right now. Right and Jason Garrett has been able to handle that part I think into function within those stipulations. And so but you know I think I think this this relationship is coming to a close look the head coach. Come the end of the season though in this job is open. Let's let's just say you think there's going to be guys. Turn that Opportunity Down Because of Jerry Jones. I know I don't I don't believe so. But I also understand that. His more successful coaches who have had different personalities also haven't lasted as long as Jason Garrett has been more successful bay one super bowls but also all those people have left a lot earlier. Jerry needs a strong presence like a Jimmy. John's their push back. He needs strong presence for his head coach but he he is not going to have one if he mandates that things go certain way. And that's just a reality. So what he needs. The most he probably repels away. Greatest strength greatest weakness right. We see it so

‘You Have To Be Able To Throw The Ball’: Vikings’ Adam Thielen Frustrated After Loss To Bears

"Finally in the News Adam the'll and has thoughts on the Vikings kings offense after Minnesota no showed on offense against the mighty bears defense Thalen expressed some frustration ration- I'm not sure if it was with the offense of philosophy or the guy who's supposed to be throwing the ball. Let's listen it well. I think I think that's probably what's frustrating. Straight thing is is we knew that was going to happen at some point. At some point you're not run the ball for one hundred eighty even with the best running back and that's when you have to be able to throw the ball you have to be able to make place have to be able to hit the ball at the you have to do that because otherwise it's too easy for changes not Evan and Russia quarterback so we have to be we have to be able to run the ball and pass misleading cannot be won a national. It's just too easy founder. It's odd to see Minnesota struggling at at this level on ovens West. You may remember shortly before the season started. I was very high in their offense thought they could really maybe it'd be a top OP five top three number one but it's all gone totally to hell and the one thing that has really jumped out to me. That's his surprised me is that the one you could always count on kirk cousins offense was he was going to put up numbers and they were his team will move the football that is what's disappeared here and that's been to me the most surprising thing that you add Alvin Cook into the mix and we talked about it on Sunday. The offensive line obviously has issues but that they would be this inept. I just did not see this coming at all. It's fascinating to me. Cousins is a rhythm passer and he hasn't been in rhythm really since last October and I think if you read between the lines with Adam feeling he at least he may be other players at the vikings have some issues with kirk cousins right now and maybe he's not maybe it's that he's not pulling the trigger when the passes are there any cousins defense. It's not often that the past is are there because his offense of line the mixture of that offensive line that system kirk cousins isn't working yet. It's not a good thing when dealing in that same interview was kind of asked what's different this year with you guys you. You know not getting as much separation and the most telling thing is he immediately said that's not what I see. I mean he's he's saying he's opened and yeah cousins has been under under pressure. There's a good article in the athletic yesterday about it hasn't been extreme and watching that game there were many plays where he did have time and there are deep throws you would think to to give a shot to dig deal and they did try a couple of hit one and he's instead of checking the ball down and I think that's the frustration Gratien in when you have Mike Zimmer on Monday saying the same thing. You've got to pull the trigger when you're when you're talking about your quarterback that way it's I don't know there's bubbled over frustration and there probably probably is in effect that you can't really measure scientifically on most quarterbacks outside of the most mentally tough that if you've been damaged and battered and hurt for a season plus behind a line you lose some trust for them. We've seen younger quarterbacks even earlier this year after a game or two of that not act the way you'd expect them to Aaron Rodgers do it in the last couple couple years you develop bad habits and absolutely there's this one play where they do the boot action and cousins rolls out to his right and he had there's no one within twenty yards of him at that time and he immediately like fires fastball over the middle to his running back. I think it was. Cj Ham who was one yard pass the line of scrimmage and he did it like right away and that's the type of play where you just it drives you crazy. I think if you're never CJ HAMAS open though you've got to get the ball to him get it to them in space and watch the magic. That's that's the philosophy. The football coaches the world over believe. That's what's happening in the

Andrew Luck retires: Colts' personnel moves forward with Jacoby Brissett

"The Indianapolis Colts in thirteen days face the LA Chargers went out Andrew luck and with your cover percept the guy for whom they traded Labor Day weekend at twenty seventeen he started fifteen games that year after being thrust into the mix with no opportunity to learn the offense no opportunity to learn the personnel no opportunity to learn the coaches everything's on the fly for Jacoby per set it was for an eleven which obviously is not an ideal record but he played well under the circumstances and remember twenty seventeen GM Chris Ballard was still trying to dig out from the mess that Ryan Grigson had made from two thousand twelve for two thousand sixteen in Indianapolis so I think there's reason for optimism as they move forward with your cover per set they have resisted all options and opportunities to trade burset elsewhere and now they have him and now he's the guy now Chris Ballard the guy who has compiled this culture Austin made the playoffs last year made the final weight has to cover percent he understands that the office will be different without interlocutors Ballard from Saturday night we're not gonna ask you go we were said to be Angela Angela was a unique unique player but you go we were set is is a winning football player initially and he is an apple I think your would you what Andrew said Cody said is a rare rare leaders he is he's a rare human being man I know look in that moment Chris Ballard needs to say something to inspire confidence in the locker room and beyond that the colts will rebound from this but look at what they rebounded from just in the past couple of years Josh McDaniels fails on a verbal agreement to take over as coach of the team following fifth Super Bowl fifty two bad stunner on a Tuesday night and we had a hard the rumblings that you know what McDaniels may not take that job after all and they didn't and they were covered and they pivoted to Frankreich and Frank Reich has ended up being the guy who maybe should have been at the top of the list from the get go and right there was a thing or two about moving on from disappointment about changing circumstances and adjusting on the fly right was the quarterback of that game in buffalo the comeback for the ages when the Orleans wrote thirty five to three it wasn't Jim Kelly he was injured it was Frank right it was Frank Reich who was the offense of coordinator the Philadelphia Eagles in two thousand seventeen when Carson Wentz suffered a torn ACL in the middle of December the kind of injury that would derail a team's playoff run they pivoted to Nick Foles the cobble together an offense that would work in light of his skills and they won the freaking Super Bowl with Nick Foles that was the final active Frank breaks career in Philadelphia's offense of coordinator he's not going to panic he's not gonna give in he's not going to give up it was three years ago that teddy Bridgewater suffered a torn ACL at a no contact practice it's always no contact quarterbacks just a week or so before the start of the regular season and Mike Zimmer said nobody's gonna shut down the season nobody's gonna cry force we just have to go forward it was not long ago we heard Frankreich explaining that he learned from watching Tony Dungy how to stay even keel in that setting how to be the call in the middle of the storm and the importance of that message sends to the rest of people the organization now since how possible Frank break knew what was coming so already was working himself into that state of call so he could be the beacon of hope and stability for the franchise because he knows that they're going to go into the season without interlock but regardless between Ballard who has put together a top flight roster couple of all pros not just pro bowlers but all pros that were rookies last year and continuing to build continuing to finesse continuing to make that team better and yes it makes that team worse not having interlock but there's a quiet confidence between Ballard and right and also what we've seen from the cover set I'm not gonna write the colts off at look people will write them off they will have no expectations the fall off the radar screen and and and now well one hand the division to the Jaguars with the Jaguars in the Texans act the colts I think we'll still be

"mike zimmer" Discussed on The Herd with Colin Cowherd

"Now into Mike Zimmer and John D Filipo lesson. Full disclosure. I've said many times I've known for a while. Really haven't talked to him that much the season. But I consider him a friend I root for them. So I'm not being biased here if I thought he sucked. I would admit it just happens. You know, most of my friends in the league coach read, Matt Nagy beach, Howie Roseman. They're all good. I don't know many crappy people at their job in the NFL. So I got a pretty good idea. What's good, and what's bad? And I think Johnny football's a good coach, I often think Mike Zimmer is an excellent coach. But I will say this Mike Zimmer somewhat of a dinosaur. His style is archaic. It's not dying. It's dead. Like, Mike you're somewhat living in the nineties. I still believe defenses important look at the game tonight. The chiefs blew it because I couldn't cover MIR you, but you win in this league. By throwing the rock. You have to star receivers you paid eighty four million dollars for. Cousins John D Filipo who it felt like you kept calling out in the media. Like, hey, bro. This isn't nineteen eighty-seven. I get your an old school tough guy. And I liked that. I have a lot of respect for those type guys I've grown up around those guys. My dad was that type guy most all his friends were those type gas. He grew up in a generation of that type guys. I feel like I've grown up around a million Mike Zimmer, but their style has worked the majority of my lifetime these last like five years, especially these last couple years with the changing rules, no longer work like, Mike. They get paid to throw the ball. You're running game. First off latavius Murray is a terrible short yardage runner. He's six foot three I've interviewed him before. When he was with the Oakland Raiders, I stood right next to these massive. He runs upright. He's really easy to tackle dalvin cook has been consistently hurdle. You so I saw you try to force runs in that game. Because John D. Lipa wanted acquiesce to your thoughts. And you were getting stuffed you paid your quarterback thirty million dollars a year to win games by throwing the football. You have to star wide receivers feeling and digs or both what top twelve guys in the league. Feelings had a top five season. Digs is a top ten guys. Like you paid. He's got to win the game with his arm. And when the game was on the line three nothing in that Monday night game. And I talked about this on Monday Kirk causes didn't get the job done. So you can blame it all you want on the offense coordinator, we're gotta run the ball or more balance, which I get and I'm not anti running the ball. But I'm sorry, Mike like that mindset because I'll tell you this in that game the night, we watched there's no chance on God's green earth. Mike Zimmer would've thrown up two fingers zero. Whether it's quarterback Philip rivers Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana or Blaine gabbert he's kicking the field goal. Every stinking time. Why? Because he has the dinosaur old school mentality. And that was the right mentality in the eighties. With Parcells Ditka, buddy. Ryan the Mike Zimmer's I get it. Those aren't the times anymore. You throw the ball. I don't care who your offensive linemen. Are. I got news for you. Most centers guards in this league stink. They stink. But you win by throwing the balls Zimmer. Can puff this chest out? All you want. Like we need to throw the ball. I I lost respect for Mike Zimmer through his offense coordinator under the bus three basically three times in a month. Like, hey, bro. How about keep it in house? We get you don't like the guy for whatever reason. And again, I swear on my life. I haven't been told this. This is all my opinion. I don't I wouldn't even ask John football on this in first off. He's too high character Kaik character to even speak down upon this guy. But Mike Zimmer isn't because he kept crushing him publicly. "Morning. Dave. What's happening? Hey, doug. How're you doing doing great? What you got for me Goodman? I got a couple of things real quick. I think that Dan Quinn will be fired. And I and I really thought that after Mike McCarthy got fired because I thought Mike recording would take over for him. I think tank we've gotta go teams regression it has so much. Trouble offense, really especially from the red zone in. They have so much trouble. But when you when you start talking about this hot seat, you did this a couple of months ago when I was wondering cold you, and I told you I said keep an eye on this Mike Zimmer, but he's the one who put always like basket with this Kirk cousins all his quarterbacks. Now, there's no reason why this team here does not make the playoffs. If it takes eight wins. They get in there as a wildcard. And it looks like they might not get in. I'll let you finish hold on right now. They're six five in one. Let's see. They have the Seahawks is not a guarantee that the dolphins. You should be Demi the lions you should beat them. And then you're versus the bears. It's it's still not crazy for them to get in the postseason the right now, the sixth seed either way Mike Zimmer is not going to get fired for the same reason that Dan Quinn is not going to get fired this year. And I don't think Mike Zimmer deserves to get fired. Now, Dan Quinn. I do think you can make the argument, but they're both defensive-minded coaches. So John D Filipo will get the blame for Kirk cousins and deep omega job as the head coach anyway. And eventually Dan Quinn needs to be held accountable for the blunder in the Super Bowl. Even though he's offensive minded coach because you could change that if you want and then what happened last year in the postseason. I'm not disagreeing with your point on the falcons next year, Dan Quinn's, but will really be on the hot seat. But I would be maybe it's a surprise fire. But I'd be shocked that because Mike Zimmer is well liked. He's had success. They got to the. NFC championship game a year ago. Is it a disappointing year this year, but they also had a ton of injuries too. I'd be very surprised if Mike Zimmer gets the axe said, I mean, that's just one of those jobs. Like, I said you just used you're talking about a surprise. Well, like you said, maybe he won't be there. But like you said, I think that team has no huge not to make the playoffs especially it takes eight wins. We take when that team needs to be in the playoffs. And they probably should because the Panthers have just been a bad football team. After a good start. The eagles. Don't have a real great win this year. There's no signature one for the eagles. Eagles to me. The biggest surprise in the NFC this year. Maybe in the entire National Football League. They're definitely out there. Philadelphia Eagles in terms of regressive. Redskins started Mark Sanchez. The entire offense is banged up. We may be able to hey, Ben Horowitz. What's your Twitter followers right now? How many Twitter followers yet right now? Where can people follow you, by the way? At Horowitz went on Twitter. I'm seventeen people away from seven hundred milestone, you get seven hundred. You should make a little plate and maybe go play for the Redskins offensive lineman. Pounds on could use a quarterback. You're in shape, you could probably run around the football around. Yeah. Probably kick. I can kick. Now if they hired a radio producer to be the Redskins. You get over seven hundred dollars. I would like to think maybe we should call Jay Gruden if I was a charger fan, though, I might not be able to get over that they can't even fill their own building. Maybe we should. Have our dear dear, dear dear friend, whose so close which Gruden and Mr. Scott, ferrall, call up the coach and say, hey. Maybe Jay Gruden who looks like he lost a few pounds. Maybe. You take. I hope you're in your car listening to me right now you fat ass. It's one of the greatest jobs of all time. As you say. And then you got the bucks in the bucks are made the postseason the Vikings should make the plastic. No doubt about it. Really? I've never heard that one. Really? Yeah. Play it again. Well, we got a ton of the South Dakota the second one the second one was I've never heard that one. That's what he said about Jay Gruden Jay Gruden or not. Oh, that's just for big. For. I'm sure we'd be here all day. So sexy. Do you have the drink, by the way? No. I know that that's off limits. I don't steal his what I was filling in for ferrall on thanksgiving. When Christopher was with me the day. We're had two extra hours when they gave me like two hours of notice. Someone someone calls any goes, I need a drink. I go. Yeah. We're not doing that. I go as much as fun as I would have guessed us prefer L when I get less than two hours to prepare for six our show. It wasn't happening. I wasn't expecting the sound effects, especially mafia and Carver high weren't there. All right. Let's go to Napa Valley, and we talked to Mike next up CBS sports radio. What's up, Mike? Yeah. I was curious about my your thoughts about Jake route. And I I mean, honestly, I think he should be fired. I think actually there should be an entire house cleaning. And the reason why I say J should be fired. Whether it's injuries or not the fact of the matter is you gotta look at you're going to have to get a new quarterback. And I think at that point you might as well bring in another coach. Here's the thing though, you asking me to predict what Dan Snyder is going to do. That's the most difficult thing. Jay Gruden has been there. Now for five years, he's thirty four and forty one and one, and it's not a great argument to keep him around. But you answered your own question when you're asking it, and that, of course, is well is he going to get fired or not going to get five? That's question to me while he's not because of the injuries. You lose Alex Smith. You lose Cole McCoy your entire offensive line is decimated with injuries. I don't think Jay Gruden gets fired. Could you make it arguing for? Yeah. But I think they keep him around. They do because that team was off to a good start this year. And it looked like they were going to win this division into all these injuries really start to catch up with them that could be a candidate or two that could be in the surprise category. When we come back. We're gonna talk to Getafe this Brown. How about the chargers they got up to that one and to start they had that one loss to the Broncos at a game where they shouldn't loss after the one and to start eight M one in their last nine that's a football team. That's playing really well. But what the chargers the best win was in Pittsburgh. When you're down in that game. Pittsburgh spores right before the half. You look like you're done. And you come on back and win thirty three to thirty. They're the Bengals on Sunday four or five then they have the quick turnaround against the chiefs Thursday twenty PM eastern, then they play the ravens and ally. And they're in Denver, a tough end the schedule for the chargers, the charges they'll be the five seat. They will be the five seat in the AFC unless if they can find a way to pass Kansas City, which that's the employees as well. We'll talk about Los Angeles chargers next which Davis Brown, it's show on CBS sports radio. But I just let it CBS sports update with Kevin Dexter..

"In the man cave. One of the things that's being talked about is. What happened in the the Rams showdown against the Minnesota Vikings? And what in the world is going on? This is a hint as to what happened one of the world is going on with the Minta soda Vikings. They are not what they were billed to be. And I used to cover Mike Zimmer who's the coach of the Vikings really like him when he was a coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys and boy the Vikings go out they pay a fortune for Kirk cousins. And it's it's not working out quite the way they were hoping and part of the reason is because they ran into a hot ran ram team and Jared Goff here. Listen to this connection for golf. What? Goth throws over the middle. Touchdown. What ties franchise record? Touchdown pass of the cave haram style lead thirty seven twenty eight thirty seven twenty eight thanks to the Westwood One radio network for that it was the Rams over the Vikings thirty eight thirty one and the end Jared Goff who was the young quarterback for the Rams twenty six of thirty three four hundred sixty five yards and five TD's Todd Gurley. "Not this dip. Watch this step locks and goes up referee. Taught see level sea level means, here's your body position when you're going to play, if your body drops which is shoot because you're trying to make a tackle, that's fine. That's legal. But if your body rises to make Saint tackle on a quarterback, please explain naturally, why would you go up to come down and the because he went up to come down. There was a little up on their little intent, a little, Jake, the snake, and that's got him court. I agree with you all the way up until that last part. I think that Mike Zimmer going with his kicker. Absolutely. You've got to trust your personnel. This do your point is all you got. This is all you make a twenty five yard enough thirty five base. And I understand that this is a professional NFL kicker for the Minnesota Vikings. He makes this kick every single day all week line yesterday he did not yesterday in that's on him and he'll have to deal with the repercussions of that, whether they keep them or they decide to let them go to say, but to do to allow your team to put your team in a position to where you can still win the game. Yes. And you've counted on all your other personnel into then say, well, we're not going to rely on you right as a special teams guy, and this is what we have brought. You catch your wife cheating on her before you believe she's a cheater, the man got busted twice on I two field goals. Now, you know what he is. He's garbage. He can't help you win on that sun cheat on you all them towns in the same day. He. The same day. Hey, man, you had a bad day. Anything else this week in the two weeks. Then we got a problem, but the clay Matthews deal, like again, by the letter of the law, like you mentioned, he's wrong wrong. He's going to get thrown. They gonna, they're gonna, throw that flag. The point of emphasis is to protect the quarterback mind you there. The reason why this rule is the way it is is because of your quarterback in the hit that he took last year against that very team, the Minnesota Vikings. So you can't really, you can't argue against the ref. He's doing his job. Well, let's be clear the ref. As I said, this wasn't about any new rule. This was about burping which has been established previously Marceau's point about going up and coming down that's been established previously and I do want to be clear here. The Vikings have cut Daniel Carson. They've gone with Dan Bailey and they should have cut him in the moment. Son in the motto should have been like, okay, anything beyond twenty five yards. This guy can't. Help me if Mike Zimmer had done that, they might might lit on them. Taste..

"Do you point to he didn't know, the offense he didn't have peer gir- son you know he had a limited playbook he didn't have much of an offensive line, you'd have great surrounding castles let's be honest they were all one nine before he, stepped in and I think the. Biggest thing he's one and he didn't know the offense yeah he he. Knew the. Plays in that particular game plan to me I think garoppolos built for the red zone and maybe you'll obviously the numbers didn't bear that out but think, about a guy who can get rid of boss so quickly and is really accurate in tight windows small windows he's extra time with his foot where he should, be tailor-made for the red zone so I don't pay any you know I I don't put any credence in the struggles during the exhibition season because I don't think. They're game planning for the specific opponent and I'm sure. You'll win you're when you're looking at the red, zone Kyle Shanahan knows the game of cat and mouse that's going on he, knows that Mike Zimmer and? The Minnesota Vikings are going. To be dissecting what are doing, in the, red zone even in the. Preseason gonna go back obviously a lot to. Last year when you're putting. Together those game. Plans for the first couple of weeks of the. Year but I just can't see where the forty Niners would want to show. Everything, they, have or show something that's going to be a staple for Them in the resume you. Just don't want to to to use those spend those bullets in the preseason so, for me yeah it was. It was, surprising, that they had the struggles late last season with Garoppolo in on the field less less surprising of course during the preseason because. I really don't pay much. Attention to statistics on what's working what's not. Because I think the good coaches try to put their teams and. In bad situations in the preseason to help them get ready for the regular season but I would be surprised if, those red zone struggles continue this year with Garoppolo having the amount of time he's had in the offense knowing what guys are doing and also this year unlike, last year being able to really dissect defenses in get into what defenses are going to be doing because last year when he got in there His number one focus. Has only focus is what is. Just get the, play call correctly get to the line of scrimmage and run the play. And he couldn't really concern himself. Too much with what defenses were doing well and if you factor in the the. The complexity of, what, they say. Cows offense is it was it's really surprising that he was as active as he was last, year now I, think one of the battles the most interesting battles in pro football this year is cow Shanahan, Sean McVeigh. Two guys who are both Gruden you know had connection to Jon Gruden and they both really you know they're battling for the NFC west and they're. Two of the price a young offense of minds in the game and Lynch on this pardon my take podcast talked about you know what, Shanahan learn from Gruden and. The stimulus similarities between, the two coaches, that's one of his greatest skills and you know Kyle worked for him and Kyle does it now Kyle's graded showing guys he he He doesn't. Use old film the Gruden used to be like a show we're going to. Run three seventy. Six tracks land on these guys asked and we're gonna hit our heads on the goal posts just like, Jerry Rice, and John Taylor did back in one thousand nine hundred, eighty and then he would show you a gold grainy video and it was, awesome it was like he was on, Monday night football and so it was he was great presenter and Kyle really feels most comfortable talking to our team I remember there. Was, a time when he was talking to every employee in here from the grounds he wanted to talk to everybody, and he was nervous about how do I, impart these messages I said do with film because, that's when, he's at his best and I think he learned a lot of, that from Jon Gruden you know the one thing that raider fans. Are going to see this year's, they Gruden will give you the full boat a he'll make you prepare for every..

"Leading with the helmet has caused a lot of problems so far, this preseason with a mountain, the flags piling up over what appears to be routine tackles. Now, people in the game are starting to push back with Vikings head coach, Mike Zimmer saying the new rule could have major consequences off the field. It's gonna cost, some people, some jobs, playoffs jobs, hold all bit. I'm guessing. But. You know, we're going to keep trying. I mean, we haven't had any call us so far, but you know, I just it's just hard to figure out not no one's ever said to me, hey, don't worry about it. We're gonna call lesson. You know, we're gonna. We're gonna straighten it out in the in the regular season, or we're gonna come up with a revised rule. No one's ever said that. I, I completely agree with Mike Zimmer here. I think his point is outcomes of games are going to be turned on this penalty, and people are gonna lose their mind. And then when they get to the end of the season, some coach is going to be jobless and get fired because this new rule will have played some important role in some playoff game and some regular season game that will be held against him and he will be fired over it. I think that's my point of, I just I don't like this rule. I'm toxically masculine. And I'm not ashamed of it. Everything about me is toxic. So I love the NFL listen, I'm just we could hit again. I agree with Mike Zimmer's point, one hundred percent, and this is the scenario I did. I paint if there is a coach who is on the hot seat, he gets the week seventeen. And this game with thirty seconds left in the game is the difference between him keeping his job and losing it? Because if he wins, this job is team goes to the playoff. He lose this team is t- his team missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year in a row. You get one of these calls his teams lose the game. He loses his job. This is exactly what my Zimmer is talking about, and it's absolutely insane to think that you can ask football players to play the game of football without the head being involved in any way. And like I said before, I get the crown striking with the crown. Okay. But there's there's no way that you can prevent it advertently. Contact helmet to helmet or the helmet strike in the body, just putting refs and terra positions as well too many subjective calls that I said it when a few weeks ago on this show, it is virtually impossible to make a tackle and take your head. It's virtually impossible. When you drop your shoulders, your head is going to go. Because your head is on your shoulders. It's in agreed. Just his something that's just like, oh my God, that should be a penalty. These penalties are calling. Now, number one, they will change they, they're going to change the whole concept outweighed. They're going to change. You we're talking about is so much. You've got coaches talking about it. You have players talking about it. They're going to change the rule. They just wanted to bring some attention to it. Some awareness for the player stop leading, which it's impossible to make tackle without your head at some point coming in contact, air percents. Sure. I and again, I love the in, but we played coming into this segment because I'm just telling you my point of view, there's an. Attack on masculinity and football is the head of the snake on offense. If you're in the middle of the field, you catch a ball naturally instinct. You're going to curl up, you're going to duck your head the defenders coming at my waist. But when I dug down that's helmets a helmet, they can't call that because he's moving into things are happening too quick to end that let me before you go..

"Kirk cousins made his Vikings debut on Saturday and Denver, and look, radio only played one series, but when a perfect four, four, including touchdown, pass to step on days. Last week we should report put the Vikings number one in their preseason power rankings, and we are now joined by vox NFL analyst and former Viking, Greg, jenning. Thank you for joining us on this Monday. This is an easy question for me, but I like your opinion, is Minnesota the best team in the NFL? No, they are not. No, they're not. Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in National Football League. There are most recent Super Bowl champion. They have not done anything that leads me to believe they did not get better. They did not improve going back to the Vikings. However, if if I were to rank them, I would rank them one to somewhere around there. The NFC is so cluttered at the top right now. There's there's so many great teams that have great potential vite the Vikings being one of them. Obviously, we saw where they ended up last year. But here's why I say that they're not when you take a quarterback in case keenum who let's say he was a b to a b, plus quarterbacks his with his performance with this performance. Then you, you take him, you remove him and you insert Kirk cousins. You don't gain that much. You get better in my opinion, but you don't gain enough to where I can just automatically say you're the best team. Now, when I look at the way they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in that NFC championship game, if they have Kirk cousins, do they win? I don't think so. So I don't give them the throne just yet. They have to prove it in their schedule will let us know real soon whether or not they can handle being one of the bullies in the NFL right now they have a, they have great depth. I love their coach. Probably one of my favorite coaches in the NFL right now and Mike Zimmer. I think his mentality, his approach his his way that he has shifted the kosher there. It's permeated through every single player. Only the players, but the people within the organization, just his approach to the game in his approach to winning. And I don't think that you can just dethrone the Philadelphia Eagles with the moves that they made in acquiring Mike Wallace lowly, NADA, Michael Bennett. All these other guys, acquisitions, let alone they get Carson wins back at some point this season. And that last point. This is why say yes, gift, because I don't know the health status of Carson Wentz currently, and you look at what Minnesota's done with this. You look at their delight limb Bill Joe's Everson Griffen Harrison Smith Kendrick bar. They're loaded defensively offensively. Now they had they were, I think, pro football focus. Bleacher reports. They had the number one receiving core with the day. Rudolph bring down and cook back down and cope with having an unbelievable year before he went down. Now the the thing that separates them that a no break. Owner, if Phillies line is good, as we got next Dallas, they might have the second best offense of land. I believe Kirk cousins is substantial upgrade over case keenum substantial.

"To preview rather to review number four the tremendous six six tie in overtime number three mike zimmer recreating a muppet massacre all over the giants student vikings practice facility and now the big reveal the number two it involves stu got is j easyjet van right yes as his mic reimburse i remember the very similar in my mind a joke on it involves the new york jets in one muhammed wilkerson you might recall that muhammad was benched for the first quarter i believe of a game against the ravens it's easy the browns screwing this of anyway he's measure the first accord to the and the reason why he was bench the first because it even muhammad wilkerson is because he missed the walk through in the previous game and why did you better that he missed that walk through well the because it was his birthday in the team had ordered him a cake a blew off his own birthday party with the i don't know i find this oh fuddy or so impressive as well maybe it's because after hanging out with dominic factor as you heard on the show pro probably previously manta came talk today or any day for that matter as to retell me i had this notion that like the way that nfl due to deal with each other is so like businesslike and serious although collegial and fun but the notion of an nfl team going out of their way to get a birthday cake for a guy.
