"Almost say jonathan taylor goes for two hundred hundred. He only got one hundred last year and it's going to do better this year. He's worked tarred this off season. He's also he's not facing the front seventy face last year. They're going to hand to them. Eight thousand times also yeah two hundred probably average four yards a carry but yeah for sure all right so that's our kind of our our dive into week three kind of our college football preview like i said we're only going to dive into the first four weeks ish because after or that it's it's a moot point. We'll dive into those once. Those teams are developing and we can see him once we can see him on t._v. The last thing i want to do before we close does this out as a new segment. I wanna run. It's called over under and it's this is going to be not just like over under gambling segment but this is over under in general just gimme your predictions over under and again these are tracked so over under i one buckeyes we'll j._k. Dobbins go over fifteen hundred yards rushing and he had fourteen hundred as a freshman when mike weber was kind of her kinda didn't play that much and hasn't hasn't come close to that since but will he now with the departure of mike weber. Will he eclipse fifteen hundred yards rushing this season. I'm gonna say over. I'm going over as well. I think with with the added run game with the quarterback. I think he'll get more opportunities to breakage longer runs. I'm gonna go under under. I'm saying he's back to freshman form. I think uh-huh jacob dobbins is a really good player. He's a really good back. I don't think he is in ezekiel elliott type of back so i'm i'm putting him at about fourteen hundred. I think it'll be close but i think he's going under the next one. The nebraska cornhuskers i'm going over under ten wins this year. Oh boy he's gonna have to look at their schedule on on over under ten wins. I mean they obviously didn't have the year last year that you would have. I'll say under your taking the scott frost affect here. You're gonna say under what they would like to last year. They started owen six. I'll go. I'll go over over so it's tough because i think they're going to win ten nine and a half so we can win some yeah you're right. I should have said it at nine and a half so we said at ten so you're you're going to get. We're going under and over yeah. I'll take the under all day. I'm saying on the full season though ballgame ballooning ballgames okay. I'm going over then. I'm just looking at their schedule..

"This is the odd couple with Chris Broussard and rob Parker I don't think it's in a threat I think it's real deal and I think what he understands is the cowboys are trying to win a championship he is the key piece you could talk about that and you could talk about all that he knows deep down in his heart did not win in the Superbowl without children he's going to make the cowboys and they're going to play could you hear that ticket that's Jerry Jones Superbowl clock if they can always struggle you know then yeah but if the promise is only Mike Weber Alfred Morris no more older but those two young running backs leverages with Chris Russo and rob Parker weekdays at seven PM eastern four PM Pacific box more yes with the voice of his arch how yeah I I know I say the good bits with the raiders and the love for the raiders in this city I think it's going to surprise a lot of people I mean this is a transient task people calm people go and the sense of community it just hasn't always been there and this town around that shooting around the hockey team it's been amazing I mean says you've been here almost as long as me it was the effort with the hockey team and I think if anything that's a minor version of the infamous Adam over to have for the right absolutely RG I was shocked the Vegas all night the whole community just adopted them and it feels like they've been here like fifteen.

"I'm Michael size more, you know, folks, you can find me on Twitter at Mr. Sizemore, and with me, as always he has the aren't Anderson to my RIC flair. He is the Walter Matthau to my Jack Lemmon. He is Tom rile, and we're just gonna get focused talking about the Dallas Cowboys. It's been a few weeks since we've been with you guys. But the Cowboys are getting ready set for their mini camp. They already have rookie minicamp and everything went well from what we gathered except for the fact that Mike Weber got a little dinged up. But they, they seem to think that that's going to be not, not such a big deal, but I wanted to get into contract talks Tom because guess it's been contract. Doc all off season long. So what do you think about the Cowboys contracts right now and mover specifically those for extensions for deck Prescott Amari Cooper, Zeke Elliott? Well. I think that the Elliott one is kinda going to be after they look at interest got I felt all along partly because it got the fifth year option to work with, and they don't have to have anything done. Now, this is just about being smart giving him done before the price tag goes up even more, you know, it's going to be expensive. That's just part of it right now, the Steven Jones kinda posh during trying to get them to maybe take a little bit less which I am not too sure that even really worth their time. They just need to start figuring out how they're going to do it. But the one thing this happened lately, as it were seeing another cycle just like we saw with, DeMarcus Lawrence, this is around Amari Cooper, their reports. It everything's that a deadlock nothing has happened on this. These are the exact kind of things were being said, during the DeMarcus Lawrence negotiations. And as it's turned out those were true at Nala were they not true, but they actually kind of created friction between the two sides, 'cause both sides thought the other side was leaking stuff. Yeah. I remember that. And I remember that it took the, you know, the Cowboys ended up talking to markets Lawrence's agent and kind of smoothing things over, because a lot of those reports were premature or false yet, and it shouldn't have happened..

"I mean, you know, Mike, Weber, I think has chance to be a more legitimate backup from the way that role is defined to Zeke, then Tony politics. I mean, I think you're looking at a running back room in say running back very loosely Zeke Toni Ballard, Mike Weber engine as all the wall. And look I love dairy strikes, and he's been on this show. But I just I don't know that if you're the Cowboys you're carrying four running backs and fullback because we're going to have to go deep somewhere else. We don't even know it's so early to fifty three man roster projections, but is Rico Gad is going to make this team. Because if he does right there you've got four tight ends. We just mentioned all the defensive lamb, and you're going to have you know, in in contention for roster spots are you going to carry through quarterbacks? Again. I mean, all of a sudden it's going to be shy in a lot of places. And I don't know that Darius Jackson has done enough to make this roster. He's had a really really interesting NFL career. So far he's really fought his way back to get back with the Cowboys. But I don't know. I mean, I don't think the Cowboys have drafted two running backs in this this draft. I think that they were they were they felt the Mike Weber was there in the seventh round. I don't think they would've spent two picks on them to just watch one of them walk away, especially one who kind of knows equal. I know that that's kind of a weird thing to hang your hat on. It's funny. How sort of secondary running back for the Cowboys out of Ohio State? Have these loose ties to the organization, obviously, rod Smith was the brother of Jalen Smith. And now, Mike Weber the former kind of teammate Zeke just interesting interesting kind of common denominator there. But it is what it is overall. The class is really exciting. There's a lot to be excited about I think this is a really really interesting class. I mean again, it was kind of best player available. It is kind of old for the Cowboys to not have drafted a tight end in class that was very deep. But the position they did obviously come away with the safety. Donovan Wilson, certainly not a premier name, but one that could be served. Sibal somewhere down the road. So overall Billy pumped we do have video..

"Nine today on the triple threat, John Harris joined the show. I we know what that music means it either means Brown just scored or time to talk a little NFL draft on the buyers barricades hotline with our good friend would be Johnny Harris who joins us on the show. Johnny is the shrimp. Cocktail at Saint elmo's all that it's cracked up to be. It's all I hear about. I don't know good. Very good. But it will leave a sane on you now. You know, if you're not you're not ready for it. I wasn't in the first time I wanted to combine we went to Saint elmo's. And of course, they played a little practical joke on the new guy. And I thought I was gonna die tradition. Tradition yet. I learned that. And I I sent laugh at people that have gone through the same situation, but we don't go to Saint anymore. We go to some of the other places there. One place in particular, forty seven may everybody Shinnecock cocktail everywhere, you go like no matter the restaurant there. Hey steak and shake you want some should every place in Indy. Shinnecock feel ridiculous because the most landlocked city in the country should have shrimp. Cocktail. Yeah. Exactly. So I don't really have an excess or horseradish. I know that because it ends up in that follow every year. Yeah. And for people who don't know, the gag if you wanna call it that is the cocktail sauce at Saint elmo's. It's basically pure horseradish sauce with with just enough. Cocktail sauce to make it look like it's just holidays. Oh, it's it's very very hot. Yeah. I liking it to this rich. I I remember one of the one of the people at my parties in our party. I want to say his name was Mark Vandermeer. But I could be wrong. Encourage me to put more man, you're from Texas in that bad put more on. So I did it felt like there was a jackhammer inside my head like pounding out. Oh my God. Oh, my God knows in your sinus, cavity just ignites and don't feel bad John. Now, you've been accepted in the inner circle guy. Everyone everyone's been through that including me, including the shell watch. And we went to a place. We play for lunch, Mark. And I did. And so as we were talking in Mark paid, and we both had our our our Texas logos. All we shirts a t-shirt sweatshirts or whatever. The guy came out and said, yeah, you know, a couple of years ago. Yeah. I could help tell your logo. I was waiting at table. And I brought the shrimp. Cocktail to the shell watching. So there are many L. Shawn Watson, taking the shrimp cocktail challenge. And it's pretty funny. So let us in that direction. John. I don't I don't need to hear that the Shawn Watson succumbed to the horseradish. I wanna hear that. He's basically like Gary target on game of thrones. And he can't be burned by fire. And then he'd laugh at the horseradish just dumped it all on his face and cackled maniacally because he wasn't phased by it at all. Well, yeah. That's that's probably that would happen. Okay. Good. Okay. Good. Thank you. Speaking of quarterbacks. Johnny segue alert. Do you think the Cuyler Murray is going number one overall in this draft? Yes, I think he's the shiniest toy of the bonds. I I know people love Dwayne Askins, and I get that. But look look at the wide receivers that Dwayne Haskins through to and what they did the combine Paris Campbell ran four three one Johnny Dixon ran four four one. He was a slow one of the group and Terry McLaren who urban Meyer almost didn't give up a scholarship to because he didn't catch the ball. Well, enough ran four three six. Oh, my oh. By the way, the backup running back, Mike Weber ran four four seven. And they had to offense liming combine. And that's what bring that out because like. I mean, you're throwing those wide receivers that offense to live with that running back, Mike Weber. Nobody wears Jackie Dobbins is better. I mean, I don't wanna say that Dwight asking. Doubt on him because of that. But I mean, you gotta sit back and go. Wow. It was really easy reason. There's a reason for fifty touchdown now the decent quarterback, but Tyler Murray can change the game by taking a step and doing whatever he wants to pocket, but I just think that quick Jerry, and we've probably all had this, and I know for a Sean was Sudan off. And look I love Amy, I know you're getting married sometime soon. But I guarantee if she did offset. I'm a free agent company Houston. It wouldn't be a really means. Amy Amy would probably be the dolphins right now. Know how this thing. So I think cooking varies always had this thing this thing for Kylie Murray. And I think if you put. Thirty AM with David Johnson. And when there FitzGerald for one year with Christian Kirk and now you Bill. Outfit to lie in front of the Murray. I think you could have one of the more exciting offenses out in the NFC west. Cardinals. Maybe. Carter's organization. They know Russell Wilson. Colleague. Why can we have that? Well, you're about to have it. Now, it's just a question of what you can get for Josh Rosen, and we're Rosen ends up and who's willing to give you the most. But I think the dolphins and the Redskins are two teams. I should probably think about doing something to get Josh Rosen. Hey, would you give up a second? Josh rosen. If you're the Redskins you're the dolphins. Heck, yeah. I think he's the best quarterback in this Jack last minus the Murray, and you could gave in the second round. Basically, I do that all day every day. So I think the cardinals it's a win win for them. I actually think it's a win win for Josh Rosen. You go to a different location and get set up for Miami. You're walking whatever I goes. Number one. I'd be shocked at the cardinals are not in team. The cardinals trailed at spa stay where they are take. Either Murray move. Josh rosen. Start building that offense around Carter Murray going forward just to be very clear, Amy if you're listening and she listens. John doesn't know what the hell? He's talking about. And I think you did the right thing and trader to it contender. Someone much wealthier than me. Jacksonville was watching contender. Saw maybe you would entertain the thought. So he had rich. So John since the last time, we spoke a lot has changed. Kevin Johnson has been released Kareem Jackson is essentially tweeted his farewell to the organization and multiple teams are reportedly interested in signing Tyron Matthew away from the Texans couple of other capable safety. Eric Waddell, and Landon Collins have entered the marketplace as well. What's an updated version of what you think happens next with this back end of the defense. I said this a week ago. And I still think I felt like the sections were gonna do whatever possible to sign either tyrant or cream. I didn't think they would bring both on back. I want him to love both of them. But I think they were gonna bring one of them back and at that point hiring experienced point fakey, then cream and he's five six years younger, so seemingly you would make sense. That you would bring back tyrant. But with the number of safety better out on the market. You mentioned two of them. I mean, those guys are let me. Well is one of my favorite players. I love the guy, but he's thirty four. He's doing a lot of it on dial and guts right now. It's not where he's gonna go into slot. Lock somebody. Yeah. That's not gonna be. It's gotta be tiring. Does that? They've got a lot more cover ability at this point in their careers. Well, about the questioning me for Landon Collins is could he play the back end when the play like a glorified? We'll linebacker or play the the money spot in dime. He's pretty good. The closer you gets to livestream. If he's very very good. But can you put him in the middle of the field and be effective? So that's like, oh, man. I don't I don't know about that. I'll tell you a guy that I really like if they're not able to bring tyrant aid more cream back in Asia Amos from the bears, and he's got some experience with Bill O'Brien. I haven't played for him at Penn State. So I I like what he brings. I think he can't interchange player the box, and he can also play e parade coverage. Look you've got a starting point is Justin Reed under how came back last year type team team-leading reception after beating cancer, you gotta gotta gauge Amos to that makes I think if you're pretty good about the safety position or. I've said I think it's hiring or Kareem and at that point you look positions, but there's gonna be a lot of people interested in hiring. And for good reason. But that said there are a lot of safety at a lot of people are going to look at. So I'm very interested in this market kind of plays out. But I really want fire Kareem come back. We need one of those guys with the continuity, and what they still break to this defense and the way that they tackle out in space. If you're not able to if the market just throwing money, you didn't have to rename you're gonna have to pay a lot from nanny college. I'd much rather pay a lot for off into Lyman named Trent Brown. So you might have to go to the draft route they work last year. The way you go get and you ended up putting a couple of young safety back there and live with some of the growing pains Johnny Harris joining us talking a little NFL draft. Johnny can I interest you in a quick game of either. Or I know it's one of your favorite games. Oh, of course. Right. Here we go and give us a, you know, a fifteen or twenty second blurb on why in the each of these I got five of them for you. And maybe we'll do this week leading up to the draft. You have to move you have to move up to get one. If you're the Texans Jona Williams or greedy Williams. Greg williams. Being a guard. I saw Jonah Williams of months. He was small. I was I know you'd be weighed three or three he looked like a long snapper amongst all those tackles. I think you drag Greg Williams, and then you go get to get, greedy Williams. And then you go get an offensive tackle. That's got some sizes and Gert an complain a tackle spot. I think that's what you do. Absolutely. I I don't have any qualms our Twenty-three Andre Dillard or Andre Baker. Audrey dealer all day every day. The best athlete at tackle. I think in this draft. And he proved that the combines and I wanted this guy for three years. So I would love to see him. I think he is he dancing bear fifteen. He ran core nine I mean, we couldn't do that in the twenty yard dash forty nine. Back on her job for sure. But will he be there Twenty-three? No, not at all. That's that's what I'm assuming. If these guys the caveat is these guys are there at twenty three who do you take John Taylor or d Andre Baker? Okay. I got a big fans wanted Taylor. I got nasty. He might play right tackle. And maybe you can transition play a little bit of left tackle. But I man I tell you what I love I wanted. I talked to him actually on the plane finally Houston out of the great guy. But wait he moves on appealed. I'll take that look downright bakery. Gary bakers, don't be there twenty three. I don't think that John Taylor. Outer dude are gonna be there. The guy that runs for five to four for a second year. Struggled bid covered last year. You got feel really comfortable that he's going to be able to transition with all those other things be able to play cover key Y Hilton. Corey Davis, and whatever Jacksonville has they don't have anybody right now. But he's going to have to cover those guys in particular and different guy. But he's got to be the number one corner Susie steps in the building. And I don't know that I'm totally all in the Baker from that day. I love it. But man, that's a lot ask you. They're coming in first year, not running exceptionally. Well, keeling coal just flipped the bird. It is radio. You john? Two. Give back. Catch against the patriots. And then you drop everything under the sun after that. On the bench. Set you off to more quickly here, Cody Ford or Greg little. Greg little just because I even though I think Cody forge will play Cody to guard. And I think we're gonna stay at tackle. And look I think I think if the strike on the line, but if there are some debt. Interior position. So yeah, you still got to figure it out. I think Martinez goes inside. He ends up getting one of those starting March position, Greg little resorted, tackle tackle. But he told us the I want to be. I want to be rookie of the year. I wanted to Brooklyn to Houston, we can use that for sure. Live in. But I love you trying to go for. Greg little I saw in the second round. This is more of a second rounder an MD special and the Texans have not yet taken a cornerback in the draft Jerry Tillery or Julian love, Gary Tillery,.

"So coming up, we're going to talk to sports agent attorney, Jeff Shoko buddy of mine, and we're gonna talk Dwayne Haskins in should he stay or should he go? I mean, I think it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Dwayne Haskins is going to the NFL. However, he has not announced that he is going as of yet remember that tweet from a couple of weeks ago. And I believe it was to to Weber to Mike Weber something about staying. I don't remember the exact tweet. But remember that? So I I don't know how surprised people would be I would be really shot if he doesn't go. But right now, they're predicting what first round, of course in sixth or seventh overall. Maybe I don't know some of these some of these projections have him at. Yes, sixth right now is the one that seems to be the the the main part of this run around six now if he stays if we we'll talk to Jeff by the way, the my sports agent. Attorney buddy. If he stays what kind of money could he pick up if let's say the buckeyes do really well last year, and he ends up moving up in the not the draft or. Yeah. Yeah. In the draft if he ends up moving up what kind of money could he actually pick up? I guess is the big question there or could it obviously, go the other way? And then he ends up giving up a bunch of money. And those figures are something that Jeff is obviously going to know about. So this is also another phenomenon that's going on. Yeah. And I've been off obviously for over a week, but bird box is really taken off it Sandra Bullock's flick on net flicks. And one I thought was interesting about this. They're saying about forty five million people have watched this at this point now in order to qualify as watched it has to be over seventy percent of the actual movie has to play continuously. So not that that's. You know, I don't know that that's cheating. But and I don't know you go to the theater and you pay for a ticket. If you stay one minute. If you stay thirty seconds health. You don't even go into veteran. You bought a ticket? That counts as somebody who saw it that's going to count for the money, but people are streaming bird box. And they're watching it. And you know, if you watch seventy percent of it, it counts as they streamed it, so that's part of that figure. The forty five million people who've watched this they didn't do any run up for this. They didn't do any advertising. They didn't do anything in. It's kind of odd for me. Is this a direction movies are going? 'cause I this is I haven't seen it. And obviously, there are forty five million people or so that have Josh is another one who you've actually not seen it. And you said, you don't even know the premise of the movie is you you're wearing a blindfold. And if you see if you this the mysterious whatever it is the the. I don't know if it's a creature a whatever it is. You're not supposed to look at something. Because if you see it, then apparently you die. Now, whether you die by the hands of the critter or the force overwhelmed. I don't understand. I just know. It sounds much like a movie called a quiet place which was directed. And stars. John Kaczynski would play Jim Halpern from the office. Right. That was a fantastic flick. I did not see that. But I want to see a need to see that movie. He's beginning work on a second one. Now, I read as well, did you know that a sequel to a quiet place part two or on perfect? Does that movie is? I mean, do that movie gives me chills. I guess, and it's also maybe the maybe the most heart wrenching opening sequence. I've seen in a movie in a long long time like this. Oh, how did we come back from that? Who is that? Oh, that's quiet, quiet place. So you need so you're you don't wanna see bird box. Then or you know, I do want to. Gotta watch. It matter of fact, I'm gonna watch it tonight. I'm gonna make it a point to watch it tonight. Okay. You should try to watch it. We should be able to. I want to be able to talk about it with you. Obviously, we're not talking about on the air because we don't want to do spoilers for anybody who's going to war with you. We're going to be those guys. I don't care about the listener. Now, I'm just kidding. No, absolutely. I want to see that. But it sounds kinda somewhat similar except instead of you can't make a noise apparently. Now, you just can't look I I don't know. I'm I'm fascinated to watch this because people are it's all it is it's going Twitter. Everything's hash box box hashtag and they're doing the bird box challenge. Now, where people are blindfolding themselves and doing all these crazy things, and they're begging please don't one guy has video. I didn't watch the video because we are coming on the air one guy. It look behind the wheel, and he actually has video of it. So I I don't know, man. It's.

"Additionally in sports, Mike Weber has decided that they Rose Bowl will be his last game for the Ohio State buckeyes, he will turn pro after the Rose Bowl. He joins dream on Jones in that effort, Dwayne Haskins junior. Still waiting on his decision. Many people believe. After the season that he had a record breaking season at Ohio State. The Dwayne Haskins junior will likewise make that same decision. And likewise decided to go to the NFL. We'll wait and see I'm wondering how many of you feel about the decisions that a lot of college football players are making now and Denzel ward of the Ohio State buckeyes made that decision last year before the Cotton Bowl. You know what I'm just not gonna play in the ball game. I've got other things to do. I don't really want to risk injury or risk my potential draft status by going into the NFL or by playing the playing the ball game. And and thereby jeopardising where I could potentially be drafted. It's a it's a great debate that rages on now with a lot of sports fans and even non sports fans who look at the responsibility of athletes to their teammates the commitment to their teammates, the the willingness to finish the job so to speak, you can tell by the words that I'm using that my opinion is they should finish the job. They should go with their teammates and finish the season rather than making what I believe is a selfish decision to pull themselves away from their team. So that they can protect their own draft status in the NFL draft. Now, there are many people who will debate just as passionately on the other side of things to say, wait a minute. Why would a kid? Who has the potential of making millions and millions of dollars in the National Football League jeopardize himself in a game for which he gets no return zero return? There's no money involved. There are a few bowl gifts. That's about it. There is the pride that would come with winning whatever that particular bowl game may be. Yes, that's all true. But no monetary return. I understand both sides of the debate. I also realized that I'm pretty much old school in this debate. But I also believe that. You owe it to your teammates to finish the job that you started with them. And I understand that. There are varying levels of talent in all sorts of college football. And guess what? The the best players have the opportunity to go to the NFL. I get that. But if you start a season you start a job, you start whatever it is whatever task you're trying to achieve you do that with your teammates, you roll on with your teammates, and you finish the job with them rather than saying, you know, you guys go play that game. I'll be fine on my own. You guys just go do that. I'll be good on my L. We'll see what happens in terms of the decisions that many other athletes will still have to make between now and the completion of the bowl season. It's almost as though half. I'm applying for a championship. I'm not playing for a national title. Forget it. I'm not doing it. If I'm not gonna do this that I'm no there's just no chance I'm going to play with my team. I just I don't like the trend, and I realized that it is pretty much everywhere. So all right. So what else is going on? Let's let's talk globally. I mentioned before we went to the break that the situation in France in particular in Paris is is not getting any better with the yellow vest protesters. Another person has died as a result of those protests riots that are now into their fifth week, and they just continue to roll out of control. Let's bring in Tom rivers ABC news with the very latest on that. Good morning, Tom. How are you? Pretty good week five is now over here, and they were down substantially year in Paris expected around three thousand people around the country, maybe sixty six thousand, but it is a real expression of people power people fed up with packages up to the right tease and the wealthy getting away with tax breaks left, right and center and the straw, really broke. The camel's back was his fuel tax in mid-november and people said enough's enough. So we've been taking it to the streets here. And again, they've got some concessions. They may get more concessions from the government will have to wait and see and that will be if this process goes on in the coming weeks, Tom just enlightened people who might not be up to speed completely on this. What what is the major issue there? That's got these people out in the streets. Yeah. Well, they basically say that they call macro and the president of the bankers whose his background, of course, was in the investment banker, and he he held no office. And again, he's giving tax breaks for the one percents of the elites, whatever you wanna call them. And of course, since two thousand eight since the big crash, everybody's wages have gone downhill, and it's becoming tougher and tougher and tougher. He really has been out of touch with what normal people are going through. And he says I'm starting to get that now and he's changing his tune, and even so he's partially responsible for some of the disturbances and an ugly scenes we've seen for the parents five weeks in Paris and other cities. Well, that's certainly in itself is a concession. What else are they looking for? What else are the are the protesters looking for type of type of concessions that would make them relax a little bit? And maybe. Draw back on some of these some of these protests. Yeah. Well last week last Monday Macron came forward and said, look I'm going to put a halt on this thirty cents a gallon extra surcharge on gasoline and diesel. Pretty good. Also, he has some concessions for for students and senior citizens so he did not raise their taxes as he was expecting to. There's also kind of interesting phenomenon known as a people's referendum whereby you would get to a large petition maybe seven hundred thousand names on it. And then you submitted before the national assembly here and your Representative in parliament. But then discuss various aspects, maybe another tax at the people, don't like, etc. Etc. So it would get people involved in the democracy in the country here. And and that's something. The government says, look, let's talk about it. There needs to be a lot more detail work that goes into the let's let's talk about it. So we'll see where it goes as I say it is starting here. The concessions are starting the dialogue is starting. "About put this one away. So it's critical for Auburn to try to stay in the ball game to hold them to a field goal or less, but Kellen mine just picking up a first down as they continue to move down to the red zone. The most interesting game of the day and a slim lead for the buckeyes. Here's jeff. Yeah. Hi state with a twenty three twenty one advantage late in the third period here, rich. This is a strange up and down somewhat patchy and yet exciting football game from start to finish their bar does shoot out that we thought might develop between freshman Adrian Martinez and sophomore Wayne Haskins hasn't quite materialize in the second half. Asking check on Ohio state's I drive in the end zone and Martinez. Nebraska's freshman has endured a couple of drops one by big bone is running back or they would have converted a third down in another deep all the JD skillman that would have been a huge play and possibly a touchdown. So Nebraska trying to get things back aligned offensively. The huskers were down sixteen seventy six game came back to the lead at halftime. And then the Buckeye finally did answer on their second drive of the second half and each play eighty yard drive caps off. By touchdown run. By j k Dobbins or other running back. Mike Weber had a key run in that drive at twenty seven change of direction, beauty and also the Cornhuskers helped out a little bit with a personal foul penalty on that drive. So we've had turnovers penalties blocked punch muffed punts in all kinds of other fun stuff here. Ohio stadium today the buckeyes we twenty three to twenty one three twenty eighth ago. Third period. All right. Thank you. Jeff. And right now, Michigan state has just scored again to open up a twenty four three lead over Maryland. Coming up tonight. It'll be Utah state going up against whole why on the road and what a great season and has been for the aggies or off to a seven and one start the best start since one thousand nine hundred sixty five that only loss coming back in the opening week in east Lansing at Michigan state. They are currently ranked eighteenth a people, and I had a chance to catch up with Matt wells their head coach I talked to him about how well they're playing in all three phase of the game. If the envision this type of season back in the summertime. Well, I'm not sure rich that you envision it the whole year you visualize it kind of team that you're trying to have and your leadership and all that. And so the question marks that you don't ever know. Nobody does to me in the summertime is the. Chemistry the leadership overcoming some adversity. How many injuries not am? I gonna have any. But how many to who how long are they out for you know, and then how your team's gonna react? And and how the backups are gonna play. That's the stuff. Nobody knows in the summer. What you did know is I didn't know this. I knew we were talented. I knew we had a talented bunch coming back. I really felt like they had taken a step forward in their in their development in the spring. A lot of them individually. Even though they were, you know, a year experienced I thought they'd got better, and we had some talented transfers become ineligible a graduate transfer a couple of freshmen recruits that we're going to be good. But how quickly could they I mean, that's the stuff you have no idea about I've been very thankful and very pleased with our our captains are our leadership. I think that's been excellent. We all come from a bunch of injuries on defense early in the year. And so our ability to do that has been very good. I remember watching the season opener in the narrative was boy did Michigan state played poorly. Another slow start for the Spartans. But I thought to myself watching that night dean their planes, pretty good. And even though you came up short that night in east Lansing. What did that game mean to this team moving forward? Well, actually, think Michigan state played pretty good. They want it. Then I can tell you this. And that was one of the few games that I've been here at Utah state, and I've been here. Eight years now that we've gone into a big time opponent on the road. And we played them close. But the other couple times we'd lost it. And we didn't lose that one in east Lansing. They want it that was a good team, and they played well, and and they found a way to get a stop against us on the last drive of the game. And they made plays down a touchdown with you know, less than five minutes to go in the game. And and that big number eighteen that wideout made some great plays in the work. You did too. So I I didn't feel like we lost it. I thought they want it. And what we took out of that game was absolutely not a moral victory. But more than that is that we took confidence out of there. And I think that ignited our passion and to practice great the next week. Our our passion to prepare for the next opponent. And we came out and played a great game. The next week against an opponent that had beaten us in a bowl game the year before dog with Utah state head coach Matt wells, a big one coming up against Hawaii team that can put up a lot of points. It's a long trip, and as we all know Hawaii a very nice place to visit. What do you tell your team this week? Well, keep the main thing the main thing and control what you can control. And that's our preparation especially Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when we're still here in Utah and everything that we're going to do from getting your body right training room, you're lifting, you know, football junkie. So watching extra tape before the meetings after the meetings, and then practicing that a high high level I thought yesterday practice was really good. It was fast. And so those are the kind of things you can control what you can't control is the distractions on Waikiki. The plane, you know, the travel which will could go bad. It went bad on us four years ago. But I think we've we've been over this'll be my third time over as a Utah state coach over there a few other times as as an assistant at other schools, but I think we've got a good plan here. And and if we continue to follow it, you know, I think we'll be give ourselves a chance to to compete really well Saturday night last week in a sixty one nineteen victory at three scoring drives that lasted under a minute and seventeen for the season. How do you get to the point? Or that point where you're just so efficient. Oh, I honestly if I if I know the answer to that, then we'd have gotten there a lot sooner. I'm proud of our offense. We have you know, scored quickly on some of those possessions. Like, you just mentioned a lot at some of those actually are reflective of our special teams play in our defense giving us the ball. And and you know, a shorter field or shorter field position. And then offense, you know, having explosives really quicken. The drive Jordan love has become a dominant quarterback in college football. He's won ten games since being inserted as the starter. What stands out about him the most that makes him such a winner. Well, a few things I think he's very calm and cool on the field, and he's very composed in and do not for one second get that confused with not being competitive, he has an internal desire and a fire to be and he's extremely competitive young, man. And he's extremely smart young, man. He spends a ton of time in our building and our complex learning what we're doing. He knows that lacked the back of his hand, and you can see that in that's evidence. And and a lot of ways notably. I mean his ability to get to his third and fourth and fifth option in the passing game. As a former quarterback yourself. What is the one quality that you're looking for in that position more than anything else? Well, oh, shoot. I don't think you honestly, I don't think you can pinpointed on one thing. I'll try to give you one that's kind of intrinsic in one that's physical. You know, the first physical quality, and I would take over anything. His accuracy. I believe in accuracy over arm strength. I believe great footwork gives you great accuracy. I believe your brains. Give you a little bit better chance to be more accurate because you know, we're, you know, you're you're throwing on time. You know, where your third your fourth option is where your dumped down is where your heart is. So I believe that all leads to accuracy, that's the first physical quality. I'd give you and then the, you know, the one quality that I think is the most important to a quarterback is you gotta have the ability to make the other ten guys around you play great in play better than they really are. And you can't really put a finger on that. And is that Mojo is that the quarterbacks competence is that as swag is it as production. You know, what it's every bit of its every one of those you can't have confidence and swag without being productive as a quarterback. But it's the ability to make the other ten guys around you play a little bit better. And as they run onto the field with you. They're like, yeah. He's. The man and the in. We're going to go score or we're gonna win as long as I got him. We're gonna win that's a phenomenal -bility in that, you know, a lot of that's leadership too. But there's a lot of things that go into that. But it's just an ability to raise the level of the other ten guys around you talking with Utah state head coach Matt wells, the aggies seven one and getting ready to take on Hawaii. You talked earlier about chemistry and leadership and overcoming adversity and just alluded to some of those qualities just a moment ago. So how much does experience of this team factored into this their success as you look up and down the line of a lot of returning players from a year ago. Yeah, great question. And I think I think there's a legit that's legit factor in the success that we're having right now, you know, last year, we started the fourth highest amount of first year starters in the country so a ton. And then, you know, consequently, you know, or whatever that may not be the right word. This summer. I get told you got the, you know, eighteen returning starters. That's the fourth highest in the country. And I'm like, well, duh. I had the fourth youngest team in the country last year. But the thing is what I said to our players all spring and all summer, they took to heart. Just because we've got a lot of guys back that didn't guarantee you anything and guarantee you wins. Michigan state doesn't care BYU. Don't care, you know, the mountain west doesn't care. It's Ken those guys that have experienced get a little bit stronger a little bit faster and a little bit better. We needed every one of those guys to take a step forward in their development and their individual games. I believe we have collectively. And then you add some new recruits a grad transfer wide out a couple of other transfers on defense that sat out last year and some younger players that are being developed in moving and coming up. I think you've got yourself a, you know, a better football team. I don't wanna be remiss and leave out the defense because St. -fensive Lee you've been just as good as what you've putting up on the scoreboard and a new defensive coordinator comes in and Keith Patterson this year you've taught force Twenty-one turnover. So far. What has been the difference from a year ago? I think maybe just a renewed focus on on what we do how we do it. So it was renewed focus on fundamentals of stance alignment, where do your eyes go tackling. And then that and then a renewed focus on scheme of tropic, probably streamline and a little bit of what we've done cutting some of the fat out and really get into the nuts and bolts of this defense, which is essentially been the same for you know, since I was a coordinator here under Gary Anderson, Dave Aranda was with me as a coordinator a random. I put it in. And it's kinda the nuts and bolts of the scheme in the last seven years has really been about the same. That's not a bad staff. If I don't. And everybody has done pretty well. It's good to see as we talk with Matt wells who's doing quite well for himself right now at seven and one of the Utah state aggies ranked eighteenth in the nation in the latest eight people you're now going to be in the month of November where there are very little secrets in college football..

"Difference. They're gonna take John Hickson stricklin. Absolutely, no breaking out Halloween coming out there and saying we're just we're going to impose our will. But map, the caller was absolutely right. The you know this. This was a run for this is a pass first offense, not a run. First offense you pass to maybe set up the run in the past. It's always been you run to set up the pass to be able to make that happen or offensive lineman. If you look at them, they're all they're all bowed as they line up at the line of scrimmage with the tackles cheating back enough that they don't get a penalty for being in the backfield. So they're already on their he'll write their number one goal is to protect Wayne hassle question. It's not to open holes, Mike Weber, and I think we can argue that they've done a pretty good. They have they have are this season. In terms of protecting the quarterback number of sacks. Now, there have been some holding calls along the way, but you would expect that if you're going to throw the ball forty times a game or God forbid seventy three times in a game. I mean, that's just stupid. But to change your mentality. And your footwork and everything else to convert to run, and what you can't do matter. Here's the tendencies you watch real closely the Ohio State offensive line, and you'll you'll know what I mean about this Bo tackles are back a little bit behind the guards. Right. If it's a running play. They don't want to have that Keith step. They wanna be up a little bit. But here's the problem defenses can read that tendency, there's some guys that could tell if you're you know, you're in a three point stance. Is there pressure your knuckles turning red 'cause you're leaning on him? And you're coming at me or are they kinda white because I'm leaning back a little bit, and I'm gonna pass protect you can't give up the tendencies that are there. That's that's really hard. So, you know, while they're not up on the line of scrimmage. It's it's kind of hard to fake what you're gonna do. All right. When we come back. We're gonna go back out into the crowd gets some more questions..

"So I would talk about power ratings and updating those and making adjustments and things of that sort. One of the components to that equation is injuries, and we've got several injuries here to touch on on today's show. Oncluding a couple in the big ten. Yeah, it's one Winfield you're in your. I feel like this is a really key injury. He's really talented. He's made some great plays early in the season for Minnesota. He's out for the season with a foot injury. Minnesota's had quite a bit of injury or at least key guys injured so far. This season, I think PJ slack and on a good job with his team. I know they got blown out of the water this past weekend, but Minnesota in general, has outperformed at least my expectation for them so far this year, but I think it's gonna be hard for them to continue to do that. We losing key players like Antoine, Winfield, junior, I would say he was probably the best defense player leaving him. They hit for them. And again, this is one of those things and we're gonna talk about some skill position guys next, but this is one of those injuries that doesn't move the line, but it's one that you certainly want to factor in from a matchup standpoint. So you're not going to go out there and fade Minnesota, you know, on Sunday when the lines open up just because. You know, they don't have anti Winfield junior when it's going to be one of those things where you know when they take on a passing team, they take on a team like Purdue, for example, into an Winfield's, probably going to hurt more. I don't know if they play Rutgers and you know, cross division play if they played Rutgers probably doesn't matter as much. So it's not really a quantifiable thing for powering standpoint or from the standpoint of the betting line. But it is one of those things that in certain matchups that's a huge loss for Minnesota. And really, that's the function of a lot of injuries. Here, you know, talking about li- injuries on the offense of wine. For example, especially if you get cluster, injuries may not matter against some teams may matter a hell of a lot against other teams. Winfield is one of the guys that falls into that category. Yeah, really? Mike Weber though I take questionable for the Penn State game foot strain, or I think Dobbins is a little bit better than like Weber, but having both of them really helps this team quite a bit. You know something in and out. Everybody can stay fresh and there's a pretty big drop off behind Webber in dolphins for is obviously have talented players, but there's guys are very good. Be interesting to see if Webber ends up playing this game. Obviously, Ohio State has another big injury with both, but they're going to need only going back in this game, and I think it certainly hurts them if they don't have whatever you. Yeah, we'll talk more about this game a little bit later on in the sigma. But the one thing I would say here is I think last year I probably make a half point to maybe a point adjustment for not having Weber even though they use Dobbins a lot more, but they were running the football a lot more last year this year with the way in Haskins because they're chucking it around as much as they are you. I don't think that missing the second part of that tandem with Dobbins would be as big of a deal as it would be in previous seasons. So again, keep that in mind here, you know, as teams have changed schemes a little bit, maybe some of these injuries take on a little bit different meaning. You know, I agree with that. I make a weapon for Wyoming running back questionable for for Saturday against forty states. William is severely lacking off into weapons. Even when he's playing..

With Urban Meyer's return near, Ryan Day has a chance to prove he can lead Ohio State
"Is urban Meyer coaching this game. He's not. I mean, you know, I don't know if he's shadow coaching or something like that, but he won't be on the sidelines. We'll not be on the sidelines Ryan day is the gentleman who is coaching Hieaux state even though or been was allowed to coach during the week. Right? Day's gonna be there on the sidelines. It's fair to ask whether that has any effect here because Gary Patterson on the other side lines of very good coach. I don't think this has much of an effect. I know Ryan day is an urban, but he's probably going to be a head coach soon. He's pretty good in his own. Right. So for my money, is it fair to just throw that aside cast that aside as being any kind of competitive disadvantage for state. Yes, it is a competitive disadvantage snot have their longtime and current head coach on the sidelines because if it's close, if something major happens in a major call needs to be made a reminders more familiar with the protocols in the talents and the in game situations that he's been in before, which Ryan day cannot draw on the same. But but but is it enough of a quote unquote disadvantage that we should really be talking about? I don't. I don't think it is here. I mean, it hasn't manifested itself against Oregon state and Rutgers, but that's to be expected. I think it's competitive disadvantage. It's going to alter the game significantly. But if you're looking at advantages disadvantages right now, Gary Patterson has an advantage over Ryan day. Sure. Okay. So we sort of disagree on that was sort of. I don't worry as much about it doesn't sound like your either, but we both agree to some extent. It's a little bit of a disadvantage fine

"That's in the room. But what really jumped out to me was the throwing officiency from the quarterback. You know? That's he's going to be the topic of conversation, obviously with his performance, but you know, the the speed at which the ball was coming out of his hands. Given the receivers time to make plays. It was awesome. And then bringing it all kind of together with Michael Jordan, the center know, having that big athletic presence in the middle of the, you know, the offensive line in in the lowering us to just play free from there was awesome to watch. You know, obviously the opponent was who it was. But you know, we we at least got to see some things from the standpoint of us moving forward is progressing and and getting the play free. Really? Yeah. You can only play who you play in Oregon state's bad. But you gotta take advantage of that. And they get in and the ball. I mean, Dave we talked about it the ball out of the hand of Dwayne Haskins was electric on Saturday. Well, you talk about what jumped out of me the first touchdown of the season came through the air. It wasn't as long as I wanted to see Bill Conley. But it was a nice test out. Terry MacLaurin is that? Remember what the first play of the game was was a run. I two. Took place to put the ball out. But the other thing that jumped out at me was Mike Weber and how hard he ran. Yeah. He really did. And I talked about it with you the other day. His first touchdown was put your head down and get to the end zone. No matter what kind of a run I loved the effort for Mike Weber. And I love the fact that he was kind of flash in that. Okay. JK dobbins. It's on. Last year. I had it the year before it's on. Let's go. The only thing it's not a calculator is now seven out wrestlemainia that's almost I don't know if you didn't have to name a match. Go sell tickets. So you hope that when the brand of all incomes back on your radar that you respond in kind even if you can't make it to that city or where maybe here? I don't know anything about that where if you can't make the live events and all the things going on, you can watch it on the five that that was a helluva deal. Anybody getting feedback on the fight half how that went. I I know it did real well. Number wise, some very happy, extremely extremely well. They had a number in mind from what I understand you guys beat that number by ten times. I'm not at liberty to give away the number, but there are a lot of heroes involved there. Is that Mike Weber Mike Weber from the fight the whole team. We had a discussion earlier in the week, and that's where you got the number, and then I was very pleased. That was actually the one of the only things feedback we got dinner last night was, here's hey, we know this this, this work that way. Yeah, man. Number. I right. A card. How do what did you think the mashes have we do. It's all about how we did right. We do listen. I'm proud of you a lot. You know that. And I told somebody earlier are crying here. I'm not gonna. Do I cried? Oh, yesterday it's okay. I feel your dad last night..

"I said things by message base lined up your, space a microphone in the room teddy listened to Mike Weber speech wrote it down and then reused it in. There Tougher I'm going to say this I love Mike Weber and He, was a young kid when I. Think I say young kid but. He was a, young kid. I remember how old I was. I was. Probably oh six when he came. Into the, team oh, six oh seven that at that time so I you know I've been on the team for, a few, years and he was, just the nicest, hard working you know obviously good looking guy but you know like he was just a, great guy and, to hear you say that he had, a he had a it's not my place to. Say it but, he had a not the easiest upbringing either so you know he's had. To deal with a lot. Of adversity and perseverance and You know I don't think, people understand that and you know. What I I used to love. I love is, the right word but I used to hear. The same. Things that people would say about. Him that, you're referencing, and I just I think these are people that have no clue what they're talking about period, about hockey, or knowing individual knowing, a character they couldn't be more wrong in all very for for what he did and how he played, skilled enough good, enough skater smart enough hard-working sacrificed did, it all great teammate but he's not my guy. But I love, them great choice about the pigeon but if we do spot show If we do the question, properly I mean obviously so, yes it would be Housley for me because of. RJ because of the because of Listening to game at that. Time and not being able to see many games and only hearing every night RJ going over the top with. The skill set of Housley, but I'd be doing disservice to my mother if I didn't say Jim Sean felt her favourite hours Guinness only but the best part is is the one guy that would be. Able to, go. Through year-by-year, and with great detail in every guy on the sabers history is Paul Hamilton Yeah I didn't realize that Al Hamilton had the role that he had with this. Team he in the first two years of the sabers. Existence he was the top scoring defenceman on the. Team he then bolted for the w. h. he was previously with the bison before he became a. Saber he then went to the w. h. a. he was twenty six years. Old The sabres were just starting to build into something and this guy at the. Like just I mean you think of prime career hard of that mix right so and. The little known thing about Al Hamilton is that he. Is the only non Cup winning oiler to ever. Have his jersey number retired he was the first to have his jersey number three retired he was. Potentially going to be a terrific steel for the sabres and build around so Would have been in a Cup. Final Because at that point he was becoming the top scoring defenceman for the Oilers when they were, in the. W. h. a. so anyway big loss. I didn't realize how good Al ham thirty four points playing here in one. Hundred and five pounds plans to, save the irony is if we're talking this numbers. Is that he left the next year Sean fell, took six and immediately won everybody over but it would have been nice to have had. Both of them and even more depth I can't tell, you that. Jim Sean feld for me I would I would not. Have remembered him for wearing number six there's other things that turtleneck fight with Wayne cash on three days Mboweni door a tall.
