Steelers LB T.J. Watt Still Not Practicing With Team as Week 1 Approaches

"Have sneaky big news coming out of pittsburgh. This is bad and it. Serious steelers superstar linebacker. Tj what is declining to practice. This has been getting very little attention. He's been sitting out since the start of camp wants to contract the steelers having given him one and it's almost impossible to quantify just how good this guy is. He comes off a season in which he led the league with fifteen sacks he had the best pass rush win rate sport meaning. He beat his blocker within two and a half seconds. So he's a superstar. This is a guy. many people are being. It'd be the defensive. Mvp and jeff. Can you explain because again. This is not getting as much attention as i think it should be. Exactly what it is going on there will let me explain why to you just mentioned. Tj watt has been sitting out. he actually hasn't and that's what makes this. Such a weird scenario. Is that because of the fines that players face for a holdout now mandated by the players or not sitting in essentially so he's been going through practices in individual drills but then sitting out team drills and there was sort of. I think there's lingering expectation that that would change once the regular season arrived. It hasn't now mike. Tomlin is scheduled to address the media today. Maybe we'll get some more clarity on what it would take if the team perhaps plans to suit them up anyway on sunday even though he's in team but no doubt a fascinating situation with this added layer the steelers on the fact. They do new deals with players during the regular season. So this doesn't get done before sunday. We're in new territory when it comes to the pittsburgh steelers and negotiations with players.

"Thanks to tom. Brady and to particularly a shout out to nelson louise the vice president of communications with the with the bucks. I've been talking to him for a while about trying to get brady. And and he was very helpful in it and i really appreciate him His work and making so many people available to me when when i was in tampa for just a day last week. So let's move on to our interview with bruce arians. I enjoyed this conversation. Because i think it gives you a little bit of a feel of how arians is going to approach this year and just how different it is this year from last year. Here's bruce arians. With bruce arians the head coach of the super bowl champion. Tampa bay buccaneers. I have to ask you. Has your life changed now. You've won super bowl. You've coached a super bowl winner. Never gets old brother being introduced as that never gets old but You know finally after the ring ceremony we could put last year to bed and and get this team focused on this year job and put it in review mirror but Yeah that that part never gets you know. It was almost exactly ten years ago a decade ago. That you've got either depending on how you term it either fired or not renewed by the pittsburgh steelers and part of you thought. Well that's it. You're riding off into the sunset. And i wonder could you have ever imagined a that. You were going to coach another ten years and be that this would have happened. No not a million years You know One storybook book year change dollar lives. You know chuck's phone call to come to india ghana in the colts. Yeah he makes that call. We go to indianapolis and You know we're driving the road and my wife looks at the phone show. Shit you're gonna take this job. Wait till to see what he's got a but When when chuck got leukemia and got sick and they got an opportunity to to take over. It opened up all those doors that we're never going to open. And i knew they were never gonna open and it's a shame that took chuck to get sick for to happen but Life is funny man. It takes some crazy turn sometimes but just two more questions about you. That really interest me. Remember at that time even after you had the coach of the year season in indianapolis the only interim coach ever to do so. You still go through the first seven jobs of that postseason without getting a sniff. Seven jobs get filled. The only job left is the arizona cardinals and luckily you get that job but just imagine if they hire somebody else maybe. Maybe you're never head coach. Oh i i doubt i ever would have been you know. I took the chicago interview first. And then came back and really wasn't even going to take the arizona one because kenny wizard. How and russ grimm and kevin spencer those guys while went on super bowl within pittsburgh and i would have to let some of those guys go. We're good friends inside. I called kenney said bro. i don't know if i can take this interview. And he really talk me into take an interview while so let's go to the present tense now. You and your general manager jason. Light have brought everybody of great importance back to this team. The coaches are backed front offices back. Probably you're twenty five. Most important players are all back to me. That seems almost a blessing and a curse. Because you don't have a lot of new blood here. How has it been so far for you. Spent fantastic jason mike greenberg. jackie davison. Just did an unbelievable job of getting everybody back. And we're very fortunate with the hiring process happened before the super bowl. There's no doubt my mind had to hiring process happened. After the coaches for coaches have lost tight end byron and You also have your coaching staff. We even have staff meetings. We've been together so long. Everybody knows what to do where to go. How to do it and Coach coaches is harder than and players. And so as i have them back. Have all the players back to top twenty five to thirty guys. Then i thought we'd jason just hit a home run with the draft and the influx of new young guys that are gonna make big impacts on this football team and giovanni bernard talk about his impact early. Yeah was one of the guys really targeted in free agency. And it was a great interest on his part. Great interest on our part in a veteran back. That's solid pro person and fight football player. But he gives us a pass catching guy out of the backfield. That's been there and done it. And he's been a blessing in a lot of ways because of his preparation. He's one of those meticulous preparing guys. Nothing's going to surprise him in a ballgame Younger players are there any. Is there a downside at all to bring everybody back the whole idea. Maybe some people are complacent. Now i think with with the everybody's think thought would be complacency would be the problem. And you know. I gave all the veterans the entire spring off and We brought in forty five young players looking for about ten fifteen spots and mostly were special teams. So we spent the entire. Ota's with them. Then we brought the vets in for the mandatory mini camp. When you have dante david in. And i'll even throw devon young as years but devon white devon jason pierre paul shag dominance all the leaders. We have on defense. There's no complacency but the competition between our offense in our defense is relentless every day. Because they're both really top five in their Rain ranking so they wanna win every day and with brady on offense. They're not gonna be any complacency. I promise you what's brady lake in year. Two with the bucks it's night and day. I mean he knows how to get to work first of all. He knows where where to stop where to get groceries. All those things that that that affect your life but the terminology it just flows now. He seemed pictures in his brain when he calls the play. He knows the picture in his brain last year was just a bunch of words. What the hell's at me all the way up to by week nine It was it was just a learning process. Us learning him how to make him. Comfortable byron did just unbelievable job. I get way too much credit for anything that happens offensively. It's all byron and So now he can be more vocal he can even a better leader Because he'd really knows what the hell he's doing. You know what. I really remember about being here last year. Exactly one month before your first game of the season to give people an example of how difficult it was last year exactly one month. I saw the first practice where he huddled with his offense. Imagine you don't you don't get in a huddle with your teammates because a cova because of all the restrictions until thirty days.

"From <Speech_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> <hes> that. The other steelers <Speech_Male> linebackers were <Speech_Male> not good in this one <Speech_Music_Male> flat out. <Speech_Male> They looked really <Speech_Male> bad. So that trade <Speech_Music_Male> that we talked about <Speech_Music_Male> a little bit earlier <Speech_Music_Male> is more <Speech_Music_Male> than <Speech_Music_Male> welcome. <Speech_Music_Male> Pass <Speech_Male> that to coach. Tomlin <Speech_Male> was asked about kevin <Speech_Male> dotson which he kind <Speech_Music_Male> of deflected <Speech_Music_Male> Pretty <Speech_Music_Male> quickly <Speech_Music_Male> But <Speech_Music_Male> basically came down to <Speech_Music_Male> Coach tomlin <Speech_Music_Male> being asked if datsuns <Speech_Music_Male> order and more playing <Speech_Music_Male> time and <Speech_Music_Male> coach. Said <Speech_Music_Male> he wasn't able to <Speech_Music_Male> watch him closely enough <Speech_Music_Male> And <Speech_Music_Male> we'll have to watch the tape <Speech_Music_Male> and see were he goes <Speech_Music_Male> from there <Speech_Music_Male> So yes some <Speech_Music_Male> definite deflecting <Speech_Music_Male> on that <Speech_Music_Male> one <Speech_Music_Male> The next kind of question <Speech_Music_Male> kind of involved <Speech_Music_Male> really <Speech_Music_Male> all the second year <Speech_Music_Male> players especially the way <Speech_Music_Male> mike tomlin answered <Speech_Music_Male> it Saying <Speech_Male> that the <Speech_Male> all the guys that are <Speech_Music_Male> coming from the steelers <Speech_Music_Male> twenty twenty <Speech_Music_Male> draft <Speech_Music_Male> class slash undrafted <Speech_Music_Male> group. <Speech_Music_Male> Now they expect <Speech_Music_Male> a big <Speech_Music_Male> step from them. <Speech_Music_Male> What the <Speech_Music_Male> steelers rookies <Speech_Music_Male> did last <Speech_Music_Male> year. <Speech_Male> That's the bare <Speech_Music_Male> minimum. And <Speech_Music_Male> they need to do more than <Speech_Music_Male> that in twenty <Speech_Music_Male> twenty one if they <Speech_Music_Male> want to have a job <Speech_Music_Male> on this team is basically <Speech_Music_Male> what what <Speech_Music_Male> coach tomlin said <Speech_Male> but also complimented <Speech_Male> them that they all <Speech_Male> look like <Speech_Male> they're in extreme <Speech_Music_Male> physical <Speech_Music_Male> condition <Speech_Music_Male> And <Speech_Music_Male> really it's <Speech_Music_Male> it's <Speech_Music_Male> kind of something that's <Speech_Music_Male> going to help fuel <Speech_Music_Male> this team <Speech_Music_Male> Pointing of course <Speech_Music_Male> to alex. Highsmith <Speech_Music_Male> chase klay pool <Speech_Music_Male> Antoine <Speech_Music_Male> brooks junior. <Speech_Music_Male> Carlos davis <Speech_Music_Male> and james. <Speech_Music_Male> Peer were all the names. <Speech_Music_Male> That coach tomlin did <Speech_Music_Male> list in that little segment. <Speech_Music_Male> So <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Male> maybe those guys will be <Speech_Music_Male> some pretty big <Speech_Music_Male> kind of contributors <Speech_Male> here in <Speech_Male> twenty twenty one <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> Coach <Speech_Male> tom was also <Speech_Male> asked about the defense <Speech_Music_Male> kind of <SpeakerChange> getting burned <Speech_Music_Male> a couple times <Speech_Music_Male> and really <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> it was was <Speech_Male> a pretty simple answer <Speech_Music_Male> from coach. Tomlin <Speech_Music_Male> but i think it speaks <Speech_Music_Male> volumes. <Speech_Music_Male> This team <Speech_Music_Male> especially defensively. <Speech_Male> Didn't <Speech_Male> show a whole <Speech_Music_Male> lot of scheme <Speech_Music_Male> lies not trying to confuse <Speech_Music_Male> the other teams quarterback <Speech_Music_Male> and basically <Speech_Male> why they're <Speech_Male> trying to do that and <Speech_Music_Male> coach tomlin did answer. <Speech_Music_Male> This was <Speech_Music_Male> that we're <Speech_Music_Male> trying to evaluate <Speech_Music_Male> our own players. <Speech_Music_Male> We're not trying <Speech_Music_Male> to confuse the other team. <Speech_Music_Male> <hes> playing <Speech_Music_Male> some dramatic scheme. <Speech_Music_Male> You're not gonna get the <Speech_Music_Male> best look out <Speech_Music_Male> of these guys that you're trying <Speech_Music_Male> to figure out whether or not <Speech_Music_Male> they're good enough to make the <Speech_Music_Male> team so <Speech_Music_Male> playing <Speech_Male> some fancy scheme is <Speech_Music_Male> not what the are trying <Speech_Music_Male> to do in this game <Speech_Music_Male> and they <SpeakerChange> didn't <Speech_Music_Male> Do <Speech_Male> the burn a couple <Speech_Male> of times shirt. But that's <Speech_Music_Male> what the preachings about <Speech_Music_Male> the steelers are evaluating <Speech_Music_Male> their talent <Speech_Music_Male> going about business <Speech_Music_Male> the right way <Speech_Music_Male> and really <Speech_Music_Male> it's I <Speech_Music_Male> would say it's been working <Speech_Music_Male> out for them and <Speech_Music_Male> of course we <Speech_Music_Male> know what they're going to get <Speech_Music_Male> And <Speech_Music_Male> then of course the steelers <Speech_Music_Male> will open that playbook <Speech_Music_Male> once we hit week <Speech_Music_Male> one and <Speech_Music_Male> everything <Speech_Music_Male> will open up <Speech_Music_Male> from <Speech_Music_Male> there. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> The last question <Speech_Music_Male> of <Speech_Music_Male> This <Speech_Music_Male> coach tomlin <Speech_Music_Male> post game. Press conference <Speech_Music_Male> breakdown. <Speech_Music_Male> Came <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> basically <Speech_Music_Male> over ben <Speech_Music_Male> rothlisberger <Speech_Music_Male> which <Speech_Music_Male> was a super <Speech_Music_Male> interesting question <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> whether or not he. We'd <Speech_Male> see big. Ben playing <Speech_Music_Male> in <Speech_Music_Male> the steelers next preseason <Speech_Music_Male> game against the detroit. <Speech_Male> Lions <Speech_Male> coach. Tomlin <Speech_Music_Male> said emphatically <Speech_Music_Male> yes. <Speech_Music_Male> Bet <Speech_Music_Male> you didn't expect <Speech_Music_Male> an answer to <Speech_Music_Male> becoming <Speech_Music_Male> So coach <Speech_Music_Male> stolman having a little bit of fun <Speech_Music_Male> at the <Speech_Music_Male> end of his press. Conferencing <Speech_Music_Male> big ben will <Speech_Music_Male> be the starter next <Speech_Music_Male> week against detroit <Speech_Music_Male> in his first <Speech_Music_Male> action <Speech_Male> of the twenty. Twenty <Speech_Music_Male> one. Preseason <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> so <Speech_Male> with all that said that <Speech_Music_Male> Wraps <Speech_Music_Male> things up for the <Speech_Music_Male> The post game press <Speech_Music_Male> conference breakdown <Speech_Male>

"So those are pretty much generic stuff and what you're saying to defeat Mike Tomlin was saying similar things when the team was winning. Mike Tomlin saw this coming and people For a large stretch like myself were just ignoring it. Because how do you not the football team that was eight and nine and Oh, Ted, and oh, Went to the same dance last year with the Patriots. And there's what happened. With the Patriots down the stretch. They crumbled. They didn't play well. They lost some games, and then they lost in the first round to Tennessee. So we asked this poll question tonight. And on the poll question. It's a fill in the blank family a question it just to fill in the blank. The Steelers will lose during wild card weekend divisional Weekend Conference Championship weekend of Super Bowl Sunday. 2.8% say. Super Bowl Sunday. 3.4% say Conference championship weekend. The results are so low there. And you always will get a percentage somewhere on a vote. Someone will always be in the contrary. Contrary invoice 3.42 point 8% combined. That's conference championship game lost Super Bowl loss that shows you how low nationally the feeling is right now in the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are 11 and three This year, though. You got Maybe the seventh seed could be 11 and five In the NFC playoff picture. And all we know of the F C. So far, bills with the division Chiefs won the division in the steel is at least have a playoff spot. So 63.9% is first place they're gonna lose wild card weekend division around 30%. Seal is gonna show me something against the Colts and the and against the Browns. Right now. There's zero reason to believe that they're going to win a playoff game doesn't mean they can't What is one playoff win get you All right. It gets to the divisional round. When you start to your at 11 or no, that's Super Bowl or bust mentality. It's Zack Help show on CBS sports Ready when we come on back? We will play you some more. Mike Tommen Audio. We will do the news brief. We will address the juju Smith Schuster incident. You big tic tac guy there, trace I feel like you watch a lot of Tic Tac's. Oh, no, I am so lost. That is the first thing Honestly, 26 makes you feel old. I just don't get it. I actually enjoy some of the I'm not actively searching for Tic Tac's. I will go get caught going down the rabbit hole on Facebook, and I don't have the tic tac after anything like that, But I'm on Facebook and I will go through those videos. I think one is like doorman video where it teaches you all these life lessons, for example, give your situation Husband wasn't appreciating wife Wife basically always did everything for the husband husband cheats on wife. Realized his years and years later, the mistake he made. Then the husband loses everything in the wife is losing a xliv in a beautiful life, and they eventually meet on the street somewhere and the wife walks past. The ex husband says Nope, We're done. Videos like that teaches you some life lesson will teach your family lessons, for example. Um, still like a stepfather, not embracing the stepson right away like those of the doorman videos. These air some heavy, serious Judy's dance on logos. And here's Zach is learning life lessons on Texas Just come up on my Facebook videos. I'm scrolling on my phone and then and then it will just I guess the algorithm will just go to Tic Tac. So I'll be seeing all those Hard core like life lesson videos and then boom, but to take talk dances. And I will watch the TIC Tac's for a little bit. That's my my cycle. Honestly on the phone, you go from intense, powerful emotional lessons to them Tic tac dances so we will get to the Juju Smith Schuster Tic tac incident. And I'm just so should I should I tease the audience a little bit on this one. I think people are making too much of a big deal out of this. I'll give you what the solution to the problem should be next. When we get to the news brief. She sleeps hot even when the.

He started things off of the recap of the cincinnati bengals game. He said the loss still stings. The steelers simply just have to perform better but he also mentioned that some things about team went from bad to worse and he was mainly talking about the team's poor starts. He talked about three turnovers in the first half essentially spotting the bengals seventeen points. He said it wasn't just the offense though. The defense failed to get the the bengals the field even with those turnovers. They never forced field goals. They must they gave up fourteen points in the last two turnovers. He's just a very poor start to the game. He said the score that the steelers face the way that they wanted to operate offensively. They couldn't lean on the run the whether they wanted to. "Not taking that back. I'm not apologizing for it. That dog earned it. Dogs better than 99% u callers So Washington. Pete's Pittsburgh in the first game of last night's doubleheader. And if you're shocked by that, you should not be. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin tried to warn you all last week after Pittsburgh beat the Ravens. And he smashed his own guys. Despite that, dub, remember last week, Remember when the Steelers beat the Ravens? Yeah, well, nobody was less impressed. With the Steelers that day, then the coach of the Steelers that day or not performers tonight we did enough to win, but that's all it was really junior varsity. To be quite honest with you on it was in all three phases. We couldn't run the ball effectively when we needed to. We drop too many significant passes. Very catchable, Make herbal passes. We didn't make significant plays and special teams Game kickoff coverage unit wasn't good enough. We turned it down all over. We gave a big plays in critical moments on defense can't have it. They converted a a long run on possession down before the half unacceptable. They had a seven yard touchdown late in the game unacceptable. It's so good that straight fire that's the straight fire that he had promised us on Twitter. That's a pretty comprehensive breakdown from a head coach who's unhappy with his team after a win. That's one of my favorites ever. Actually, you got a junior varsity reference. Damn ball reference to unacceptable. In all the time. Great answer from a head coach, but it wasn't even the best one of the that press conference. There was even more It was just bad about parties involved. Man coaches. First player. Second, we make no excuses. We seek no comfort. We didn't play well, a coach Well tonight. I mean, like that could not have made that more clear that they didn't get it done that there were bad across the board. They all were the players, the coaches. He could not have made it any more clear that this is not okay. This is unacceptable. This is not going to get it done. And he did so as a head coach of the team that won and did so is the head coach of the team. There was undefeated and he was still that pissed and he still wasn't done. When he left the yard. He was asked what he attributed the team's red zone struggles to and he had a very simple and poignant answer. Sucking Straight freaking fire. Us sucking a sucking. Hey,.

Steelers’ Perfect Season Comes to an End With Loss to Washington

"Or game tonight. The undefeated steelers hosting the washington. Football team ben. Roethlisberger and alex smith go and head to head. Second quarter all steelers early. James washington to catch the steelers while received some of the best in the business with run out the catch all been has to get the ball in their hands. They know exactly what to do with it. Fourteen nothing pittsburgh. Meanwhile from the comeback player of the year alex smith. That's the last thing we want to see bleeding profusely after being cleared. It's the other leg to quick nap. Critical moment final seconds of the first half of the clock. Ticking down. Alex smith getting sacked on a third-down play. No timeouts left the trying to run the field goal team out but the clock is going to be stopped by the officials and this may have been sneaky from alex smith. this sneaky. good better and move by. Alex realized that he doesn't have any time outs left and if they used the ball in play to probably not going to be able to get the feel law so retards off with the football. They got to stop the clock in the points. Before the you take a look. Ron rivera's yelling everybody's yelling but we're going to show it to you here. Watch alex smith again. Sneaky veteran move the official saying. Give me the ball. Alex smith is saying. I got other ideas. He takes that one himself. They have to look. He's laughing he knows. Exactly what is doing common knows what he's doing and in the end it results in three medical points. Dustin hopkins forty nine yards. It's up it's good. Fourteen three at the have a little momentum shift now oakland drive of the third smith. Watch cam simms. This might have been the biggest play for the washington football team in this game. And don't just take my word for mike. Tomlin talked about this after the game. Felt like he was a real turning point thirty yards on the catch and run a big first down in that would lead to this. How about logan thomas to the one converted quarterback out of college logan thomas with some great hands being able to get down to the one he's really turned into a professional title. They were punching in premier. So fourteen steelers fourth quarter at seventeen ten at smith. It's thomas wide open worldwide. That's a busted covers right there but don't fault the waas to football team alex smith to taking advantage of the miscues by the steelers. So we're all even now the steelers of a fourth and one on the twenty eighth. They're kick chris. Boswell is out the rookie. Matt right is there. And so mike tomlin elects to go for it a throw was to anthony mcfarland his miscue there and the washington football team takes over on downs and that leads to. This happened this catch. This is a big time catch right here by camps and being able to survive the ground one handed grab pressure situation. Can't do it any better than that. That's a big first down later in the drive. Dustin hopkins from forty five away at the first looks. It's going to hook but then it hangs and it's good to washington up twenty two seventeen but mike tomlin had used his timeouts. Well they will going to have plenty of time. But there's no time when this happens a no deflections your the game washington. Football team's defensive line. Being able to get their hands in passing lanes four passes from that group to reaper. For montesquieu it'll be no perfect season. Washington wins

"Scott Graham from our Westwood one studios. We have reached halftime route now in Tampa and say this slowly for you because you believe what I'm telling you, but saints lead the Buccaneers 31 to nothing. At the break. What else happened in the National Football League today? Well, Pittsburgh Steelers, the last remaining unbeaten team. It's 70 for the second time in franchise history, went to Dallas today to take on the Cowboys. Depleted Dallas Cowboys team that has been struggling to find offense. But Garrett Gilbert led Dallas in the first half to a 13 to nothing lead still has had to come back and come back. They did. Scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter turned out. Eric Ebron caught the game winning touchdown with 2 14 left to go on. The Steelers had the whole defensively on the final play of the game in the end zone, but they walk out with a 24 to 19 win. To improve to know on the year he was the head coach Mike Tomlin. Really proud about football team ain't no man for the first time in franchise is history were opened an honor to be that group. He knows it's not without its proud today. Obviously, some of it was created by us. You gotta give the cowboy's a lot of credit really came to play halfway home. Now it gets real again is everybody will keep an eye out of they've got Cincinnati next week. Dallas falls to two and seven. Kansas City Chiefs played Carolina today and Panthers played tough defensively throughout the game. The problem is, there are just so many things that defense can cover the homes in motion comes back to the ball. And catch his friend for the end zone Touchdown city, Marcus Robinson on the two yard touchdown pass and for the homes, the 98 touchdown pass in his career, but not a play like that one in Miracle. You know, that was a brand new wrinkle. Mitchell just 1065. The Wolf and the chief's Radio network, One of four touchdown passes. Former homes has now reached 100 faster than any player in history. Kansas City hangs on to win this one today 33 to 31 Teddy Bridgewater 310 Yards Christian McCaffrey was back. He ran for a score and caught a score..

Browns dealing with injury questions at tackle

"Us some news about steelers running back James Connor. Yoshimi sprained his ankle last night Laura now, Mike Tomlin said they're going to leave the white on them for this weekend. So they don't believe it's overly serious, but obviously couldn't finish last night's game in penny snow came and finishes the weeks second leading rusher play very well. Philip, he's got a case turf toe. He also didn't finish last night's game. The team is opening that it's mild. He's hoping that he'll be able to go. This week but PHILP Lindsey Nursing Turf Twenty three to Jerry painful for running backs a difficult injury, and of course, the bears right now are dealing with an unhappy Allen Robinson who today took off his social media pages all mentions of the bears he's unhappy with his contract situation. He's in the last year deal. He'd like a new contract and the fact that he is basically removing references to the bears on his social media platforms. An old trick also a new trick, but it also tells you a lot about players mindset, Alan Robinson not happy with the bears at this point in time.

Is Homefield Advantage Dead?

"WANNA start here eight and I think this allows us to get in week fifteen you mailed me some stats last week And now we saw again today. Road teams were nine and six against the spread. The road teams won all nine of those games outright for the season road teams against the spread. One twenty five ninety three three and five there thirty two games over five hundred while home favorites Through fifteen weeks or fifty seven eighty one in five twenty four games. That's amazing right there. And we have had over and over again these double digit losses. We just had it today again with San Francisco cousin. Sal I ask you this homefield advantage dead. It might be there might be. I think you said you said it in basketball you were saying was dead. It's funny yesterday on text exchange. But yeah if you're looking through your pools and you have to pick sixteen games a week if there are no bison. You're going six and ten every week it's because you're taking home favorites. I know I know it's hard hard. I know when the better team is laying six at home. It's hard to not circle the left side but stay away. It's very bizarre an extremely bizarre week. The raiders was ending that Falcons ending the Vikings first half cost people money the way that ended obviously the Redskins Eagles. That might have been the worst ending if you had if you had the redskins the plus points Or if you're going against Cooper cop in your honesty semi funky you hold. That thought we were talking about that. I think what's interesting to me. I I remember I wrote about this at the end of last decade ironic. I think Oh eight zero nine I wrote about this trend with with the NFL where it didn't see my homefield matter the way it did and then we had settled into this eight nine year run. We're homefield still mattered. But not like a date when we were growing up where it was like. If you went into somebody else's house also really hard to win and then you get to this year and I think we're seeing it with basketball to serves texting boat this weekend. I think there's three reasons I think the first reason is the secondary market. And the fact that you just don't have stadiums anymore words just completely fans for the home team yet so it it always seems to be more splintered than it used to be. The tickets have gotten way more expensive so I think that's that's Priced out some of the crazies. You know like some of the friends wrens. You had grown up some of the friends that I had back in Boston. It's just harder for them to for tickets and then I think the third thing. There's been so much talk about civility ability at games and you know fan behaviors. Just been a huge spotlight on how people behave and what they're allowed to do and yell. Oh and all that stuff and the crowds just seem Tamer and we saw today with the raiders. Blew a game late to Jacksonville Euro and this was the last I Oklahoma Game. It was on those on that. They're not gonNA lose their last home game and frigging g Menchu when right down the field out and then we saw it again today with Buffalo. It's like Ow Josh. Challenge when push comes to Shove Jiaxuan is not GonNa be able to get points in Pittsburgh. The crowd will take him out of it their defense no Josh Allen right down and scored. I don't know who has the great home field advantage anymore. So we'll Josh Allen didn't have a great game no thirteen completions. That was just an. I'm sorry I Pittsburgh Burke might still make the playoffs and I pray that they do because I have. They're the only team I could see betting against in that first round like I have a feeling on any other first round match unless Pittsburgh goes to Kansas City. I mean they've they've got in the last five games in which the supposedly hot they scored fifteen points a game. It's just Mike. Tomlin did as much much as he could. He can't do what you can do for this offense. You can't fake punt from his own twenty eight every week. I'm sorry but I think you're right. I think it's all the things you said. I also I think. Road teams coaches management has figured out the exact amount of time a team should spend in the opposing city. You know it's easier to travel now all that kind of stuff so there's not that much The jet lag isn't as big a concern. But you're right. We used to see division winners at seven and one eight eight. No now aside unless you like the packers this cowboys eagles four and three Kansas City foreign three at home like even the really good teams. You know Houston only five and two at home. Buffalo's GonNa make the playoffs only four and three at home i. I don't know what the reason is but trust us. These home teams are not. They're not better than they were five ten years ago. Yeah and I think that Tennessee Games are good example right. Yep didn't really seem like it mattered. Where that game was played and I don't think it's GonNa Matter Week? Seventeen either right now. The crowd was was good. They were into it but it wasn't like wasn't like the Shawn Watson was going to be affected by the crowd. We left out another reason that I think matters maybe Charles back to our childhoods. But you know the headsets the head facing the helmets and the and the QB being able to hear the offensive coordinator being able to move faster and the the even somebody like trubisky you know they were in that game that I know the packers won by eight. And if he didn't see the game you just assume The packers they were up double digit second half but the bears were lingering in that game and there were a couple of moments era when it seemed like they had a chance maybe to force overtime and I didn't think h Bisky who I don't think is good then look scared but he. He certainly wasn't rattled by playing in Lambo. So I stopped when when you know the we've been doing million dollar pegs you and I have been. We've been betting all season. I've really stopped looking at home field. They're very very few times. Do I say to myself. Oh my God that teams home. I really really love having the home team here even even tonight I bet on Buffalo. Hello at Pittsburgh. And as you said Josh Allen wasn't great but they were still able to move the ball and they needed to and their defense certainly traveled. It didn't seem to matter to them where they were playing. And I just think we throw homefield out. I don't know where it really matters anymore. Well if we go into the playoffs saying I just can't see so and so winning at ax EXC. There's not that many of those anymore right right. Then probably win their game at home and you know the niners or or or award seahawks over wax or they'll have a by but you know those some of those row teams near Green Bay will probably win at home but you can't say unless it's dot co dot com is going to Kansas City. I can't really say Buffalo. There's no way they're winning in Houston right or anything like that especially when you get to the one to three seeds when they match up so do you think is Seattle place that you feel like homefield battered team in the playoffs That's probably top three but not as much Chisato did eight years ago when Tony Romo had to go there or something like that. I don't think it's slow because think about what are they foreign to Yeah about about their last couple of games whether seven and one on the road I mean it is scary arose team right there. Last couple of games Minnesota went in there and put thirty autumn atom. Yep and then the game before that James Put thirty four on them in that game went to overtime I don't know I I wanted to start. The season isn't yeah. It's not the

"I Antonio brown owner is out of the NFL and one of our favorite guys do I have on the show. is of course Steven A. Smith and let's see here what Stephen a Smith has to say about the latest saga. Antonio brown being released from the New England Patriots in the race for the top spot yeah do you expect to see Antonio brown in the NFL again no I do not obviously one will look at his talent. and one would say obviously with the NFL with their bottom line tendencies will want somebody like him and they're willing to tolerate somebody like him. my response to that would be although it is absolutely correct that there are people who's done who've done far worse than Antonio brown that managed to be in the National Football League I would bring up the name calling captain if only for this reason man they talk about Colin Kaepernick every day on their show every day they talk about him it's unbelievable his decision to kneel and in owners eyes compromise the bottom line they wanted to send the message to discourage others from following him in the future being pioneers in certain movements Antonio brown directly attacked Robbie craft how do you think that scull flow with the other thirty one owners in the National Football League I mean if they take bottom line issues personally as it pertains to dollars what do you think they're going to make of personal attacks aimed in the direction of an owner yeah not gonna like it ain't fly with that that's right I said I could like it but Stephen says Dane fly with that let's get to the personal side this man Antonio brown decides that what he wants to do all allegedly is the text messages that he sent out about the the the the person accusing it would you know the sex the second charge against them he said thou pictures of her children in the meantime he also made sure to talk about big band yesterday he talked about Robert Kraft yesterday he talked about Shannon shop yesterday okay he brought up these folks names how do you think that's gonna fly in the locker room he's call it Ryan clock a sellout he's attacked ju ju Smith Shuster how do you think that's going to flow he set up the and went after my Tomblin I am sorry to Mike Tomlin under the bus how do you think that's going to flow this man I've given credit for this he clearly doesn't discriminate he's attacked everybody. NFL Week 2 Monday Night Football

"I thought Mason Rudolph all good it from what I saw just looking at the numbers this morning in the first half half with primarily big Ben I know he departed at about the two or three minute mark of the second quarter or with a two or three two or three minutes remaining in the second quarter rather but you look at the first first half steelers four point three yards per play forty two percent success rate with Big Ben in the second half five point nine yards per play fifty two percent success rate with Mason Rudolph off. He looked pretty capable. There's a reason they moved dobbs so I think you know things. Look a little better for the steelers offensively. The problem album is Mike. Tomlin's defense fell apart in the second half gave up eight point eight yards per play in the second half once. Big Ben goes out right. It's on you Mike Tomlin. It's on your defense inst- to step up and shoulder that increased load instead they regressed right in the eight point eight yards per place in the second half doesn't include the the monstrous pass interference appearance. Call there on edmunds for additional thirty eight yards so steelers. This is kind of the fear we had. We kind of just assumed roomed. It said Hey lady on bell didn't play all of last year no Biggie they seem to make up for that but all of the losses on offense Mike check the offensive line coach. Now you're dealing with James Caan as well left with a knee injury. We'll talk to Dr Trial about that. One see what he says now. You're on the road traveling across the country face San Francisco. It's going to be interesting to see. It sounds like you'll be Mason Rudolph under center yeah very very interesting to see how some of these things kind of play themselves goes out and you always wonder how these teams rebound with some key faces that may or may not be there and of course the steelers staring down the barrel of that Owen to start. We'll see if they can get things corrected as you alluded to their trip on the road to San Francisco but as is the right of oddsmakers and better like you typically see overreactions in week two by the time you get to week three or starting to get a better sense of who some of these teams are and identify how these numbers need to be set figuring out for some of those situational edges so when we look at the look ahead lines for next week pay not a ton of overreaction in the market by any stretch you do have the packers on a look ahead number go for six and a half point favorite now to more than a touchdown touchdown chalk against the Denver Broncos who have to wipe themselves up off the deck knowing they let a glorious opportunity against Chicago bears. Get away from spot on Denver had their heart's ripped out. There obviously not going to have their early season altitude advantage here like they had a week ago. There's whispers within the locker room not all the players. Here's Love Vic Fangio's old school coaching style. If you start doing oh or you win a game like that and you're one and one suddenly players let that slide by but when you're in two you now you're an eight point underdog on the road. Let's see if they can overcome that once. Leflore script were off though for Green Bay and the Vikings woke up the packers offense was back to sucking again and you look into doubt just on the day four point nine yards per play for for the green offense the final three quarters the packers offense averaged three point two yards per play a forty percent success rate and Rogers had zero explosive passes fastest final three quarters so still some things to figure out offensively. They're for Green Bay came out with their hair on fire much much Dr Chagrin but that was kind of after the first quarter the the pace and the output we we kind of handicapped and projected there for the Green Green Bay offense yeah and they even gave were gifted at touchdown for the Minnesota Vikings when they turn the ball over to take that fourteen nothing lead out to twenty one but we're not gonNA cry over spilled. Milk will continue to look get some of the numbers for next week to massive point spreads. That'll remind you a lot more of college football than they will the national football league. I couldn't even tell you in an historical context when you're GONNA see two favorites favorites of this big magnitude pain look ahead number for the patriots thirteen points. Now I know Sam Darnold of course was factored into this look ahead number with him. Being out regardless of how the jets perform tonight against the Cleveland browns you're looking at the pats a seventeen and a half point favorite yes differing numbers on the look ahead. One shop had the look at as low as ten. They actually produced that before the Sam Darnold News obviously so you have patriots than Bennett. They've outscored their opponents now. Seventy seventy six to three you know Antonio Brown is a go. It looks like a real factor and it's not just Sam Darnold. That's going to be down again right. There's other guys that have some injury question question marks for the jets interesting see where this number goes right. I think there's going to be a lot of movement. Obviously it's not open everywhere right now but you know trevor sending in the jets pull off off an upset tonight or if they get blown out this number is going to head in different directions right. I think if the jets get blown out you're probably looking at closer to twenty if they somehow pull off the upset victory probably turning back down towards two touchdowns.

"That's that's that's stupid. That's silly really yeah. The one thing you can definitely do with all helmets is see it depends on what facemask ask the field of vision. He says in his good now. He just wants what he wants. He's a baby. He's a diva. He's a diva in the true sense of the word. He wants. What he wants said. He wants you to give him what he wants or he's going to cry and take his ball and go home. That's the problem but here's sounds like mace. Here's the reason why we deal with him because he's he's. He's spectacular. He's fantastic. He's real his best. He is one of the best receivers if not the best receiver in the league. So what is what what does is he done like is so now he showed at the practice in but he's not playing a game and they're not they don't really have a need to put them out on the field and it doesn't none of this really matters until week. One i think mike mayock put them in a corner. He put baby in the corner either. You're all in winter or you're all out which means we're going to do something to separate you from team if you don't start showing up so they're threatening him and he showed up. It shows you what this is all about. This is all just for attention. Do you know there's zero chance that he doesn't suit up in week one even if he's the n._f._l. Says no your helmet. Appeal is again denied and you have to wear one of these twelve helmets or whatever whatever it is. I think he'll lose. I think i think if he tries to take this to the supreme court bullet point visas and he loses. You'll lose money. He says he's not gonna play easy. He let me rephrase. He had said that he's not gonna play but now he says yeah. I guess he's all in then. You'll be fine up the wazoo. If you don't play yeah look there's no way you're gonna miss a regular season game without punishment for a helmet. It's not going to happen and you're and you're not gonna miss the regular season game on the principle of you know. I just don't feel safer. I don't feel comfortable at him and this other help if you miss a game for the raiders because of a helmet and they let you go who else is going to sign you because the helmet pariah the helmet doesn't go away you still you still have to writing the guy he's it's gotta. Change helmets regardless the happiest guy in america right into those two to the happiest guys in america right now are mike tomlin and ben ben rothlisberger thinking staffing. I told you so this is the problem we had with him here. You're just finding out about it now but if okay and i you know i kind of jumped ship on on him when he <hes> i think what was it. He not tweeted from the locker room. He live live tweeted. Live streamed live streamed from locker room a post game locker room while the head coach talking talking. I'd be done with supposedly in meetings. He's on his phone all the time then that's private. This is our time. You're supposed to be working period. We're trying to get better not trying to what is the we we did this crosstalk wide receivers divas and that's what they do in their draw who they are. That's what they are. What is is the limit as to like how far you can push it when your talent like your. He's that good. You play play any. Moss ran over a cop randy. Moss sprayed water water on a on a referee during the game. You know chad johnson really go crazy. Stuff chad johnson more a goal jacket on the sideline during in a game. If they're good you put up which is worse the the stuff that a guy will do out on a field or being on your phone throughout through a meeting sleeping through meeting way which is actually more destructive for team. You know i've seen guys fall asleep in meetings if they don't need the meeting they don't need the meeting. If they're great players..

"You won't want to miss out on these deals. Head to go Honda dealer today. Okay. So yesterday, we talked a little bit about levian Bill gave his first interview to Sports Illustrated since signing with the jets in free agency. Let's hear a little bit more about that. He was talking about Ben Roethlisberger, and what kind of teammate Big Ben was it has been the quarterback at the time thinking that's supposed to be supposed to be. Leaders in my core. It's like us doing teammate. And then they were saying not Kevin couvert. Mr rooney. I'm just saying. All of these guys are so happy to be away from Big Ben, don't I'm this is this. Affil- like it was a boy band and somebody wanted to go. Oh, boy, man that got you know, they they all got together they had some success. But eventually you realize that no matter what you weren't going to be bigger than the leader of a group, which has been rothlisburger. And so at some point you're like, look either you're gonna pay me more money or I wanna go somewhere else and start my own group. And that's what lady Bill was basically saying there was that no matter what you are never going to be bigger than being. So I wanna go so world to start monger. I know it's hard, man. It's hard. I know you're you're a backstreet boys man or. Yeah. Back. All right. What I'm saying? I think that's good. But what do you think Ben's to who should shoulder a majority of the blame here for the break-up of the Steelers because they had the best trio and football. I think we can all agree on for several years, but never resulted in Ultimo any championships. Wow. Man. There's four guys here that are the biggest personalities and kinda share blame. I think Mike Tomlin Ben Rothlisberger. Antonio Brown Levy on bell. I think if there's anyone that I would have to I guess put blame on. I would have to put it on Mike Tomlin, and that's the hard part because I know Mike Tomlin such a great, dude. Good good guy. Good coach won the Super Bowl. You know? He's countless number of accomplishment, so far, but as the head coach who really think does a good job of kind of deflecting away from the players as much. He doesn't talk about guys who aren't there? Let's just talk about the the real issues instead of, you know, the players to me, I think is still falls on the coach in the the reason why say that is because I've and as a hate make the comparison, but look at the way Bill Belichick has ran the patriots. So. Many times is it still bills team. Or is it Tom's team like still bills team? And don't get me wrong. Tom is pulled the shots and doing what he's got to do. But. You know, and we've heard this different reports. But obviously they made the deal to trae Jimmy Garoppolo. They made the deal the trae some of the best player that they've had on that team. But yet they've never had the the big time they've had rumblings and remember the Seth wicker shin. Peace and we thought that the empire was gonna crumble hit. They've won you know, pretty much to the last week Super Bowls. It's just to me. It's how do I say that the coach is not always at fault?.

"And so where do I have to put the fame level in the excellent for you guys to be okay with the idea of Antonio Brown? Doesn't work for Mike Tomlin Mike Tomlin kind of works for an Tonio Brown. I don't know if I put it at Tony O'Brien. I certainly put it at Tom Brady at the quarterback position is so important that I could see coaches gotta saying, okay, you're at my level me, and you say level. I'm not your boss. You're not my boss. I just can't see it at any other position in the entire sports. I interpreted as you just having such disdain for coaches. And it's so not fair. You have no idea what a coach does. None of us do. I've got zero idea what they do who's better when they do Browner Tomlin. But there's no way. But I'm asking you. I know I know that I know that Tomlin won the well almost got a ring. I I know the Tom I want a Super Bowl, and it's just it's hard for me to. I have no idea what Mike Tomlin's workweeks. Like, he in his press conferences, he tells me that he's not about blinking. And that's all I know about his coaching strategy. No, no. He's underachieved with skill players that, you know, eight has he because he's going up. He's in the same conference as the greatest dynasty in the history of that league. He's come away with the title. So I don't think that's I think that my Tomlin left the Steelers today. There would be teams a lineup firing their head coaches to hire might Tom. I I just I don't feel comfortable doing it. Because I know exactly how great Antonio Brown is because he goes out on the field, and he lines up against somebody else. And he might set may be considered an all time great and not just because of the rings and that team fell apart on him this year that didn't look like anything that resembled leadership everything came apart on them. I understand all those things, but I can't possibly tell you who's better at their job. Because I don't know what goes into Mike Tomlin's job. I have no idea what what's worth. I'd stare commentary. I just think that most people would concede if they weren't bothered by Tonio Brown's diva behavior that they would concede. We'll put it on the poll Guillermo who is better at their job. Mike Tomlin or? Or Antonio Brown have at it. I may Tomlin's one twenty five and sixty six I mean, you could say Mike Tomlin realizes this is a thirty one year old wide receiver. I don't need this one. Without that I've won without. I got juju Smith Schuster right there. I think my I've had enough of this locker room these locker room tantrums. And yeah, I have a personality I have to manage and Big Ben I've got a couple of years left in his window. This guy obviously have to pick a side picking the quarterback side. And I think from coaching standpoint you the quarterback is just so much more important. You can't win without a great quarterback. You can win without the great wide receiver. You just can't do it. You can't Dan. I had the patriots of dotted a number of times they've won with the great quarterback. But not great wide receivers average at best. You make the assumption. That Tomlin is picking the quarterback. What of the pressure from his bosses is? Hey, we're not moving off the quarterback. So once he made that decision I have no choice, but to take the side of my employ. Lawyers. Mike is correct. Mike is correct. When he says that I have disdain for coach worship in football. But what I would tell you about Mike Tomlin is what we just saw in his locker room where two of his three best players. Don't wanna be a part of what he's doing anymore. It's a pretty damning indictment, and you can choose what you want in terms of victories because they have won a lot..

"We're going to stick with a bow scheme. We're going to stick with a bow. And they stayed with then obviously Butler takes over. And then all of a sudden Tomlin started getting his hands into the mix little more. They started running more zone covered scheme. They started to really work on the Tampa twos tile defense. But again, I asked the question is this all Tomlin URS this mainly Butler? They've won in the same. So let's get back to the question at hand who's to blame who maybe that's not the best way to put it who shoulders more blame in the fact that this defense who has been in rebuilding mode since probably two thousand eleven it's two we're going into the two thousand nineteen season. Eight years of rebuilding. You should have rebuilt the defense ready. That's that's the way it is. Okay. You look at the offense, and and they'd kind of rebuilt themselves in a lot of different ways. But the defense is seems to knob yet again it there, and there's a lot of blame to go into that. So who is more to blame? Well, I think Keith Butler has plenty of blame to go on his shoulders when it comes to the way that the team prepares the defensive game plan going into games to me that's on Keith Butler. It falls on his shoulder. That's a Mike Tomlin's. Gotta sign off on this stuff. He's the head coach. I get that. But Tomlin is not in the defensive Filmer in the entire time. He's gotta be over in the offense aside special teams. He's thr- spread pretty thin Butler's, the one's gotta come up with some of these games. And you think about the way some of these games have played out. And you're thinking my goodness. Who saw what what in the world is this game plan? You know? L at the same time you have to save. Do we give Keith Butler a lot of credit because this defense has put up one hundred and eight sacks in the last two seasons? Fifty six setting a new franchise record two thousand seventeen in fifty two tied for the NFL lead in two thousand eighteen so for as bad as some things are with his defense. They do know how to get after the quarterback that's been proven. It's then I look at it into. Okay. What about this head coach who's a defensive guy? That's people often forget, he's a divas of guy. They say this is a hey all defense. This was his forte. How's the defense that bad? And that's a question every wants to know until me the answer. This question who is more blame? It has to be Mike Tomlin because for all those categories that I broke down personnel players. Whether it's free agent acquisitions and fell draft handling the players currently on the team on the defensive side of the football. All of that it boils down to the head coach. And I guarantee their circumstances and situations or Mike Tomlin will Trump Butler, and they were going to do it this way. Sometimes maybe it's maybe Tomlin does that. And we don't know this because we're not there again. But maybe Tomlin did have prior to the New England Patriots game said, look, we're not doing the same old same old. We're going to mix it up. Here's what we're doing. And it works. You don't hear about that? That would help. Mike Tomlin's rep reputation immensely with the fan base. He doesn't care that the same time. We'll never know that either at the same time, you know, it could be Tom on that marches into the room. It says against the Oakland Raiders, we're going to do this this and bother might be sitting on his hands and coach his bad idea. But he's not the head coach Mike Tomlin has to carry the majority of the blame. That's not to say that Keith butlers innocent. It's not to say the Keith Butler doesn't have a mess on his hands as it is. But here's the thing. I bad as the defense is not an article about this today. It was the second part of the three. Part series about how to fix the two thousand nineteen Steelers in I focused on the fence today. It's fitting that I'm doing this topic on the burning question podcast..

"mike tomlin" Discussed on Behind the Steel Curtain

"Curtain dot com here with you for another weekly installment of this solo episode where I answer a question that might just be on a lot of folks minds that follow the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, if you haven't heard the news yet, and maybe you haven't because there have been a lot of sources that have come out with us, but the Pittsburgh post gazette writer, Jerry dulack put out that recently the Steelers organization and Mike Tomlin ultimately decided that instead of replacing outside linebacker Joey outside linebacker coach. Reporter they decided to just have Keith Butler defensive coordinator take over those duties now a lot of people myself included, I might what? Well, then I thought about it a little bit more. And I understood that Butler has plenty of experience in this arena. And. Fact, he was the linebackers. Coach was prior to them having an inside linebacker special coach specialty coach an outside linebacker specialty coach I used to be just Butler himself. This is under the dick lebeau regime. Duke LeBow was forced out of town. Keith. A is when you organization decided to bring in Jerry will sassy coach the inside linebackers and Joey porter to coach the outside. Clearly, they fire Jerry porter or his contract was not renewed. Same thing in my opinion. None the less. It's all semantics and so instead of bringing in an outside source for talk. We heard any named like Kevin Greene was thrown around the lot. They decided to say hey on top of being the defensive coordinator urine. Now be responsible for the development and production of players. I T J watt, and bud depre- and whomever else they might bring it now at this time. I also think myself in this was noted in do lex article that this is the only coordinator that has a secondary duty, for instance, rain defeat and is also still the quarterbacks coach, I get that. But he's going to be dealing and talking with Ben Rothlisberger a ton anyways. In terms of how they draw up plays. And how they. They focus on specifics in how they're going to attack defense as pretty much the same thing. I ask though, how is this going to change the way Keith Butler does his job because think about it this offseason? Terms of the coaching staff has been some changes, you know, out side of Joey porter. They bring in tarot Austin who used to be the defensive coordinator the Bengals who was fired midseason. He's a defensive assistant. That's going to be also helping out the secondary, very odd. Emma seemed as if they're going to have to coordinators, you know, Austin in Butler Butler will take care of the front seven. And then clearly awesome. Take care of the back end. I'm not saying that's how it's going to happen. It just seems like maybe that's the direction they're headed. With that said, I think that we all myself included can look at this situation and say if there's a weakness on this Pittsburgh Steelers team, whether it was two thousand eighteen or whether it was moving looking ahead to two thousand nineteen it's on the defensive side of the football. It's not that the offense hasn't had issues. We know that they do. But at the same time this defense has some glaring glaring weaknesses. And so you can talk about coaching. You can talk about a lot of different things. The question the burning question on tonight's episode is who is more to blame. Head coach Mike Tomlin defensive coordinator. Keith butler. The reason I asked is because it's a season ended. Everyone always wants to fire Tomlin. And there's a lot of people that have some serious underlying issues with Mike Tomlin that don't have anything to do with football. That's fact, not saying that's a vast majority of fans, but there are plenty that won him gone..

Is it possible for the Rockets to beat the Warriors?

"Want to buy. Aids. Is it possible? The rockets could get it together by the Western Conference fund where they're better than they were last year. Is that possible? I don't think so it's not possible. I don't think so I think that's poss- adult at the sixty five wins as good as they looked last year. I don't think it's possible for most teams to be better than they look lashes out. But what I mean is actually better like the the warriors one seventy three games. Yeah. And then they got better because they added the rent their regular season record wasn't as good. But in the moment of truth, they were clearly the best team. And of course, they should be big favorites. Again, the way they've been looking recently. And the talent we know they have my point is if you believe it's possible for the rockets to actually in the moment of truth now that they have the experience of last year be better than they were last year. They only need to be that much better by the snow. You don't think the lawyers? Got you go, Molly, I'm trying to make. It's just interesting doing down that ladder. They had no man that tell C P three got hurt. I just. Very very very clear. My reservations for Oakland have already been made. There is no there's no issue. Here is your I will be in Oakland at oracle ju- where where are you going to be on the east coast with us? I'm hoping I'm hoping today Milwaukee. But only for you know, I may wanna socialite that's all your team because a lot of drama goes another day in more support coming out for Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown. This time for fellow wideout juju Smith Schuster crazy stuff about AB. You gotta fill in a law firm. If you come back, you guys welcome. And they man he may he's guy. Yeah. Well, I wonder what his teammates feel about this tweet from AB who usually says businesses Bowman and right now, Stephen he's open for business. It'd be over for whatever you want still is Abbas right to say other so exc- he could be open to whatever he wants. I don't give a damn about Antonio Brown's feelings right now I wanted to stay with this. These that great. And really, by the way, I'm not telling you anything. I haven't told him. Yeah. If a damn by his feelings, I want him on a steel course. I don't want to Steelers to trade this, man. He's great. He's too. Great figuring it out. I'll give it there. You gotta give them a massage pedicure. You gotta take them. You gotta have sports therapy sessions with you gotta go play with his cage got treated to dinner for the next day. What you gotta do. Now. I will say this. I want him to apologize to Mike Tomlin to for pudding that coach in that position. But particularly considering the paucity of African American coaches, so only two and NFL it'd be three by the time. New England wins the Super Bowl, I guess unless they lose the bottom line is is that I don't like the position. He put my Tomlin. And that's about it outside of that. He doesn't want get Tomlin put him. That's fair. That's fair. Let's get over it and figure that I or Rooney is saying I don't see how you can be on the team next year. Yeah. And all the press all the chirping out of the Steelers negative towards the future with Antonio round. Like, we don't we don't see it, basically. Now, all of the sudden juju Smith Schuster, though, watching his body language and his and hey, Derek Carr. Yeah. I'm I'm inferring. What I see? That's true. I didn't seem to me like it was in juju Smith, Schuster heart. But you can't know another Mantar all you can do is inferred from what you see. Didn't I don't know? If he if those words that are coming out of his mouth reflect the way, he's feeling, but I'll let me read between the lines a little bit. It seems to me Stephen A that at the point that they were saying all that stuff. They were probably thinking we are going to try to trade him. And probably I imagine started to kick the tires on some trade ideas like one could they get back for him. And I think what I read this. As is. Maybe what's happening here is they're not liking what they're hearing in terms of the return on moving Antonio Brown. And that they're better off with him. That's my sense. If they don't if that is true, then the Steelers would have everything to do with that. Because how do you want to trade such as surreal asset and command top dollar a top cash eighth for him? When in fact, you've served a role in excoriating, correct? So what you do don't they say this is what happened with Kyrie? Right. When the whole world. Knows he's outta there. Or you're gonna get the best offer. The worst offer at the worst offer you have to make people believe that he's going to stay whether that's because you don't get the offer you want. It's going to snake or to make people believe it. So they come with a better offer before we move onto LeBron. I just have to say this quick. I don't think I ever gave you props on this. When lady on bell was sitting going to sit out. And I was like there's no way he sits out. You're like, no he's probably going to sit out and he sat out the entire season. I think you're the only person that actually believed that he would do that. When we think he could do if you wanted the gold at the end of the grandma never would his type talent on that team. But happened LeBron James on this is fifteen straight game with the Lakers take on the Timberwolves tonight. But he hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with the sons, according to coach Luke Walton when he was injured on Christmas day the Lakers weren't fourth place in the west since they injury, Los Angeles five and nine they've dropped to ninth plates in the west, Stephen A. How bad is what bronze injury for the Lakers of worry. I was told not to be worry if LeBron James Levy reading. Needed to he could go out the plate, and he would be ready, but I find this to be the most significant injury of his career I'm incredibly concerned because I want the Lakers to get a big time free agent. I want them to make some noise in the summertime, and I think that obviously when you took thirty four years of age, they are going to be people who are going to question your ability, even the great LeBron James almost never hurt. So the fact that he's outright. Now, you have to wonder whether or not a potential free agent is going to look at that. And question how much time does he have left at this level? That's when I'm not saying there's any legitimacy to that. I'm simply saying that that's a reasonable cause for concern. And so the bright lights LA Tinseltown palm tree. So the California weather notwithstanding. You'd never know what some marquee free agent is going to look at when it comes to Magic Johnson. Lincoln picking up the phone to call them and say come on L A what I man the Bron. When in fact, they're wondering about LeBron. More. I look at this more. I think Jerry's going to be a Laker. Yeah. Because I started to run down the scenarios if it's not a Y, and it doesn't look like it'll be why I wouldn't put anything past magic he landed. Lebron after all if it's not going to be K D or someone like that if Kemba Walker in fact wants to stay where he is. And they work that out if Mike Conley is not the answer in a trade. And if the Celtics don't wanna give Kyrie a supermax like why would we want to stay in Boston, not only that they're extremely talented coach the whole thing, but he'd get a supermax deal. Then I think kyri and LeBron could come around in their own minds to seeing a reconciliation as hey, what if Kobe and shack worked it out what if they parted ways? But then they said, you know, what we messed this up. Let's work this out and that eventually the Lakers would be Kyrie's team that's got to be very appealing. We know kyri has relationship with Kobe. And could you imagine if the Lakers didn't have to give up any assets at this trade deadline, if they kept Ingram and Kuzina and. An and heart and all these guys and simply added KYW read or run Bill that happens where are they in the west for ten Kyrie's there right now with LeBron and LeBron's healthy. And assuming Ingraham continues to improve and mom gets a little better share, maybe one more acquisition the right acquisition. Lakers can win the chip next year. If kyri is there, you do not need Lonzo ball. They're correct. And that means you might get something for Lonzo. Then you might not need Brandon Ingram either. Say that happening playing with LeBron listen, I'm told that is far fetched kyri is happy and Boston. He has no intentions of leaving. But Kenny had ever go around not shutting. I don't have to pretend I'm not sharing anything anything's together. Anything is they get back together for now. Sure about that. Thanks. Mitch listening to the podcast gets. Ex-Steelers OC Bruce Arians says Antonio Brown isn't same player Pittsburgh drafted

"Of Antonio Brown. And he was the offense coordinator at one point in time before leaving Pittsburgh. And then joining the staff of Chuck Pagano in Indianapolis, and then becoming the colts interim coach as he battled cancer Picado dead and successfully thanked out and it became the Arizona Cardinals head coach. And now as the town. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. And that is Bruce Arians who said that he would not be interested in in Antonio Brown that he's too much of a diva. Antonio Brown is is not the same player. That the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted not physically we're talking about. Now. We're talking about everything else that comes along with Antonio Brown. Besides his ability to help you out and special teams and catch the football as an NFL wide receiver. Yeah. You know, Arians, basically said he's heard a lot of stories about as recent how he is speaking of Antonio Brown. And he said he plays as hot as anybody on Sunday. He practice really hard to. But you know, he's he's basically said as a paraphrasing. He's got him. He totally Brown's gotta make better decisions off the field as far as his punctuality and stuff like being being on time and whatnot. That's we said, so it's pretty interesting new head coach, you know, you've been in the broadcast booth for a year your new head coach of the box. This guy's a Steeler kinda. And I honestly coached them. It's you know, it's interesting to hear him say that about him. So it doesn't sound like Brown be going to Tampa Bay anytime soon. No. It doesn't sound like that. And that's the concern. I mean, you know, you can listen to every former NFL player, whether it be Jerry Rice and others say that he wants to be a San Francisco forty nine or that's great. I may it's great. And I do we both are in agreement TASR that Antonio Brown's gonna get traded this off season by the Pittsburgh Steelers. OB fascinating the team that he does go to am. I telling you that he's a losing player. Antonio Brown can help you in football games. But I will say that there's a lot of headaches now Brown and distractions. Yeah. Great point that Antonio Brown brings to the table that I don't know if there's a lot of NFL head coaches that are going to go out and look to embrace it. I really do. And that's the issue. I have with Brown is I don't want to deal with the nonsense. I really don't as Aaron said, you know, there's the little things that he doesn't do shop to shop to practice on time show up to meetings on time. You know, you're asked to run a hot return a walk-through run the run the hot read. What are you? What are you doing here? I mean, come on. Exactly nervous. I understand what you thought. I was going. I remember where it was funny. I mean, honestly, I it's not that difficult to it's not that difficult for Antonio Brown to handle his responsibilities. Yeah. I completely agree. I've never heard that before I was refunded. Agree with you to moves by. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. Yeah. Man. You know, I think you're going to get some coaches that are that will some teams that will wanna take that chance because how talented these days. We've all in all careers separately. You and I coming up in in all world separately. Right. I'll separate worlds. I'm sure you've come across the state me. All you've heard of guys that you may be going to do business. What guys or girls that you're going to do business? What that you've heard a lot of negativity about. And what's the first thing you said yourself? Well, I okay. This person's talented. I'm going to judge them for once. I get to know them. You give them that. You know what? I mean. I, you know, my wife always taught my son that you might hear things about someone judge them. I from how you judge them. Okay. Take defamation here. But a lot of times it could be hearsay on the advice. It is with this guy here. It's been a like him himself. He's combustible. He's tweeting stuff. Meaning it's Brown. He's been doing a lot of stuff. He's creating he's adding a ton of gasoline to these little fires that war with the Steelers in Hammond Tomlin. So if you're another coach, my point is that I do think some of the coaches or a coach will say, okay. This guy's really talented. He's a superstar. He's going to put as we going to put people to seats in the building. Okay. And and these stadiums role big he's a draw. He's going to draw people. He's a star. I so we've heard all this bad stuff about them. Just like Erin said, I've heard the stories a younger coach hypothetically might say. Well, I wanna to take that chance. I've heard the stories too. But I'm going to judge Antonio foot for what what I see we're going to take a chance on him. And that's what then you gotta hope for the best because he's gonna end up somewhere. Most you know, he's just too damn. And that's a fair way to fair way to look at it by also think that if you're having issues with a player friendly coach, Mike Tomlin, see, I I think there are guys that can't work and play for Bill Belichick. I think there are guys that can't work and play for other disciplinarians like a go back a couple years go back years ago. Bill Parcells right there. There are guys it just it just doesn't work. Now, if you can't play for a guy like Mike Tomlin, who's bent over backwards to placate you over the course of your career as you've changed with the success as your personality is changed with the money. All of that is well deserved because it's earned. I'm not talking about his personality all the money that comes his way. Tasr? I also have to look at that. Same of you have issues with Mike Tomlin, what the hell are you gonna do here? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, Mike cobblers a really is he's apprentice coach player friendly code. But there will he will be playing in the National Football League next year, you'll be making seventeen eighteen million dollars a year. God bless, but there's there's a lot. There are other guys as Bruce Arians said, I think there are a number coaches to say, I don't want daddy. Deal with that. I don't want that toxic person in your locker room. That's what you don't want. You know, you don't want that. Like, I'm a bills fan as you guys know, and I I love all young quarterback. And if we gotta Antonio Brown. I think that'd be amazing. Be awesome. But I would worry that he would like inadvertently mess. What the Josh out? I would worry about that. And I think that's a fair fair concern. But I think that a lot is coaches will judge him. For what they think and and meet with him Suez heads out, and let's just I just play a little bit on Antonio Brown side. He's been with the same organization right out of college. Right. So seven eight years, whatever it is sometimes difficult to paint. Sometimes you you'll be in better behavior. When rental the people a change of change of environment sometimes could help, and maybe that's what he needs, and maybe things will change. And may maybe

"But what I cannot and will not lob is a criticism towards Mike Tomlin is that he doesn't do everything in his power when he gets in front of a microphone to alternately put a stop or any of the drama leaking out of that locker room into the public. Mike Tomlin is masterful at that. And even at the end of the season after all gone down after we had heard from other guys on that team for Ben Rothlisberger. Everyone Mike Tomlin gets up and says we are going to handle this internally. He says all the things that we're used to Mike Tomlin sang and then for ownership now to come out on the back end of this. And give a little too honest of an answer. Not everyone deserves your truth. And I feel like we got a little bit too much of the truth. Even if it was calculated in my mind, it runs counter to what we're used to seeing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that should serve as a reminder that we are now dipping into a new era potentially where you've already seen James Connor replacing levian bell. We could potentially see Antonio Brown doubt. Ben rothlisberger. The last person standing of the killer bees this era. Pittsburgh Steelers football was not something I expected, and we don't know how much longer that lasts either. And between that and all the turnover that we've seen from quarterbacks and coaches in the AFC north it is a wild time to be in this division. But one more you expected stability always seem to be the MO for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And for the first time, I saw something that made me go that doesn't seem like them. Eight eight eight seven two nine three seven seven six. All right. Coming up next. What road teams are going to win in the divisional round. We'll make the picks and call an upset next..

"This product contains nicotine nicotine is an addictive chemical first and last podcast. Did you haven't been following? What's going on in Pittsburgh and Tonio Brown was not on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday? We originally told that was because of a knee. Injury. They were looking into. Then report comes out this weekend. You see it in the Pittsburgh post gazette that Tonio Brown had not been injured. But in fact, it had an altercation with Ben Rothlisberger during a through during the week hadn't shown up to walk through on Saturday on the weekend. Hadn't communicated with his team or teammates in a number of instances, and then showed up to the game Sunday expecting the play was told he wouldn't play and then the rest of this ensues. So now, we hear all that we hear all these reports. And we start to hear more and more the rumblings about who an Tonio Brown supposedly is behind closed doors or in Pittsburgh in a way that does not paint him in a positive light. Mike Tomlin the Steelers head coach gets the first chance to speak, and this becomes interesting because Mike Tomlin I said the other day probably not getting enough credit for the job. He's done managing to keep this all under wraps. And there's a lot of debate about people saying, well, you create an environment where this confessor you create an environment where it eventually got to this point. I'm not sure I wanna come down on Mike Tomlin for the actions of one person in all this. Because again, I think you've got a separate levian bell situation. What's going on with Antonio Brown? Right now. One seems to be about money. Antonio Brown seems to be about everything else because he's well paid well compensated. None of that seems to be in question at this point. But everything else seems to be up in the air. So Mike Tomlin's been handling this. And I think Mike Tomlin again now is coming out and trying to handle the situation as best. He can protect everyone involved. So that they can handle this the way they want to. But the bottom line is this all to me reeks of a lack of accountability. And when that lack of accountability bleeds over to the field, you reach a point where you can no longer trust this person as your teammate. And if this is something that's been demonstrated in smaller instances behind closed doors, the moving on would be the thing you'd like to do. But for all the financial reasons that seems like it's going to be impossible in. So mending this fence becomes the number one off season priority for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here's Mike Tomlin Steelers head coach in his exit pressure yesterday talking about Antonio Brown. A conversation had with his agent and what happened through their eyes on Sunday. Reading up to that game against the Cincinnati Bengals woke up Sunday morning and got a call. Call from his agent. Drew Rosenhaus drool express that he was feeling better. And that he will potentially be able to participate outlined the drew that decisions weren't made like that. But I would be interested in visiting with him in person at stadium prior to the game. But playing what knowing the menu. So drew relate to him. I met with AB prior to the game he asked what he could do. I said the best thing he can do in terms of helping us win the game to be there and support his teammates. He agreed to do that we had a general conversation about his overall health. I sent him to the training staff to visit with those guys who obviously were stadium ready and people for play. And that was the last conversation that he and I had I last Michael junior here on ESPN radio so on a base level because I don't want to just discount. What might Tomlin saying and say he's covering them from clearly, but on a base level. If this was even the only problem, it's a problem. Like if you're not communicating about these things in a crucial time of year this one week one of the season. This wasn't after the Steelers are well out of playoff contention. Wouldn't after they had anything locked up..

I thought it was really interesting the way he described talking to an Tonio Brown feeling like they'd come to a consensus that you bailed on us for a couple of days. We didn't hear from you. You weren't there for the team. So you can't show up Sunday and just play, but you should be there for the team that he agreed and then inexplicably at halftime decide. Leads. He's out and that Tomlin hasn't spoken to him again since then that to me is an insubordination and field whether or not you're frustrated whether or not you wish you got more more looks or more touches or whatever it is. I would think Tomlin would have earned more respect than what we've seen from an Tonio Brown going missing from this team a couple of times this year. So that's probably a great point. Sarah is that I don't know that in Tonio Brown did not previously respect Mike Tomlin. Maybe the question is does he still respect Mike Tomlin and the authority that he has over that locker as we've seen around sports. There are times where you just need a fresh new voice. Andy Reid got fired from Philadelphia or they mutually parted ways. Not because of what Andy Reid had done over the past decade. Plus when he was the most successful head coach in franchise history up to that point. But because it just was time. Right. It felt like it was merely time in the same way that although the Bengals have been bad recently. Mark. Louis brought them back from basically irrelevance to a competitive team for a long time, not no playoff wins. And I get that bright. But before Marvin Lewis the Bengals were what the Browns have been for the past twenty or so years until this season. So it feels as though we're Antonio Brown. Like, maybe he's not merely. Just not reporting responding respecting the voice of Mike Tomlin anymore where it seems like almost everybody else in that locker room is. And when you are arguably if not the best player on your roster. That's a problem. Sarah. That's how you get to this point where we're at right now where something that would have felt completely chaotic and inexplicable a year ago, the idea of trading Antonio Brown now to me starts to feel like inevitability. Yeah. It certainly does. Here's what Mike Tomlin said about whether or not Brown has actually requested a trade. I think we've got that Tomlin Tomlin sound where he he's talking about whether or not Brown has actually. Quested a trade a macro to speculate on trays and things of that nature. We haven't formally received the request in that regard. So I'm not going to speculate. I'm not gonna speculate in terms of where to discipline might go and things of that nature. Just know that is going to be addressed. And it will be addressing needs to be addressed for obvious reasons. And you do remember that there was some criticism of Antonio Brown on Twitter to which he responded to someone trade me. Let's find out in response to whether or not the team would be just fine without him. And then we talked to Jeremy Fowler. And Fowler said he had heard from sources within the team that there is a chance that some of what Antonio Brown was doing this season in some of his his acting out was to try to make them prove that juju Smith Schuster could be over placement. And make them see what he was worth. By the way, it wasn't just someone that Abe was responding to. It was a former Steelers PR person who right? I was here of everything that had gone on or was going on. But when you work in..

Oh, B J in New York on the trading block show me the Super Bowls for Ocho the Dallas Cowboys got out of the Dez Bryant business. They won the division show me where it works. This is not the NBA where every draft there is one maybe two generally one kid, you gotta get you got to sell the farm to get a got half. The NFL is undrafted the SEC alone. You could just draft out of that conference and building an NFL franchise. You are not beholden to any one player. Now you need to get a quarterback. There's no question about that. But college football now is giving us a couple of year five rookies this year all played all made an impact. But if the Pittsburgh Steelers who have a history under Mike Tomlin of kind of coddle. Ling enabling start if they can't do it. If Mike Tomlin can't handle it. Good luck to the rest of you. Because Mike Tomlin and Pete Carroll had been the two kind of star enablers, you know, the ping pong table in the locker room players can talk politics, they embrace it and these two guys peak house like I'm done with it got to the playoffs. I'm getting my guys outta town. Got to the playoffs. Mike tomlin. I wish I could get my guys at a town can't make the playoffs. I mean Big Ben saying we're trying to get a hold of a thirty year old wide receiver who's throwing footballs at us and doing a tantrum. And again, this is not the NBA the Steelers in fact, even have Antonio Brown's replacement on the roster. He just got voted MVP of the team of the players doodoo Smith Schuster. There are certain things in sports that evolve there are things in sports that are very valuable, but over time become less valuable. Let's take the NBA. Centers used to have to have a big center could win a title three.

"Number two here on day number two the two thousand and nineteen year. It's the rich Eisen show even on the air for an hour. We had Ryan Clark of ESPN former Steeler on the show and our number one. He was talking with us as Mike Tomlin was talking with the media in Pittsburgh where it is. It's it's a it's a Defcon one situation. I mean when you've got a coach that's in your twelve and all world wide receiver putting together a hall of fame resume and Antonio Brown at age thirty having a twenty one million dollar dead cap it in twenty two million bucks to have him play for you next year. There's a ton of money on the line right here. And you have this guy essentially storm and off the field on a Wednesday during a walk through and Mike Tomlin addressed the media. And let's play this again for those who might be joining us at top of hour number two when he was. Asked about what happened on Sunday the game day situation. The knee injury that just cropped up on the injury report late last week. And again, this is a win must win situation. Because you're hoping that Baker mayfield's pulling off the upset which you almost damn near did in Baltimore CJ Moseley of the ravens the AFC north champion ravens getting set to take on the charges is joining us shortly on the program in about eighteen minutes time, he's going to call in from bomber. But you need to win this at home Antonio Brown. Was told by Tomlin go get your knee checked out. Go get an MRI. Normally, don't you just go to the team doctor and get it done. Would you go out out of house? And then bring in the results Thomas said he never got his checked out. And then a bizarre situation where he was talking with drew Rosenhaus ABC's agent Sunday morning. This is what Tomlin had to say moments ago in Pittsburgh woke up Sunday morning and got a call from his agent Derosier house. Drool express that he was feeling better. And that he would potentially be able to participate outlander drew that decisions weren't made like that. But I would be interested in visiting with him in person at the stadium project game but playing what on the menu. I'm so drew related to him. I met with AB prior to the game. He asked what he could do as the best thing. He can do the helping us win the game to beat here and support his teammates. Now wasn't on the menu. Does that mean it wasn't on his menu offering that up to Brown based on the way he was acting? Or it was still despite the way he was acting on week open for a possibility but wasn't on Brown's menu. Now right Tomlin was asked. If this trade possibility wouldn't speculate. He was going to keep everything in house, which makes sense because you need to you need to keep all your options. Open. A and b you know, you don't wanna come across his desperate. If you are going to try and trade the guy, but he did admit that that at some point. Brown would be a problem. More than a help. I'm paraphrasing adidi Kabbalah my com. My comrade my colleague from NFL network who is excellent as they come. And who is locked in on the Steelers as there is she will be joining us top of the next hour. So plan your news update accordingly. We've got our friend Graham, Ray hall and studio in our number three are comrade-in-arms with Honda. He is we all know partways when it comes to college football. But his coach urban Meyer leaves on top ninety percent winning percentage as head coach at Ohio State that is an absurd Wapping number. He'll be joining us in our number three. And I got a shout out. From our good friend court hosts and back during the funnier die coverage of the tournament of roses parade yesterday court cords a little cords little off on on his assessment of how I was doing the Rose Bowl. Yeah. But that's later on that'll help set the table. For for our friend Graham, Ray hall, later phone line's lit. "Go to Oakland and lose yesterday. Unbelievable. Twenty four to twenty one Chris Boswell missed an extra point. But the story of this game for a while was Ben Rothlisberger getting hurts volume. He stayed out until they started to lose. And then he goes back in. Yeah. We'll ribbon DRAM in the fact that he was back on the sidelines. Sounds like he was cleared to come in. Mike Tomlin said later that. It was the game flow that the game at the time did not allow for him to return. You know, what our interpreted the bottom line? He went into the locker room to get X. Rayed checked out comes back. He's okay. Yeah. Not a great game for an Tonio Brown. Five for thirty five. Jersey was unbelievable though. Eight thirty three touchdowns thirty three points for juju. But the real story was how would this backfield shake out yesterday? Jalen Samuels, Stephen really, the answer was an overwhelming. Jalen Samuels is the guy Stephen really found the end zone, but he had five carries for four yards. One. Touchdown. Jalen Samuels, by the way, seven catches on seven targets of sixteen point two. If James Connor MRs next week and Adam Schefter reported it's possible play. But we'll find out later on. Then you have to figure. Jalen Sanyo's is an Rb to again this weekend's the

Green Bay Packers fire coach Mike McCarthy after loss to Cardinals

"Missed the number opportunities throughout the game. The voice of coach Mike McCarthy actually make that former coach Mike McCarthy he was fired Sunday after the laws replaced by offensive coordinator. Joe Philbin team, president Mark Murphy. In a statement saying the twenty eight eighteen season, quote as not lived up to the expectations and standards of the Green Bay Packers. Mccarthy was in his thirteenth season as coaching Green Bay win the Super Bowl in twenty ten but this is a third straight season where the Packers abs- struggled ESPN Packers reporter robbed Moskvy. This was always going to be a difficult season for McCarthy. Given what happened nearly a year ago when they forced out general manager, Ted Thompson, remember Thompson was the one who hired McCarthy back in two thousand six they didn't just change general managers this off season. They changed the entire power structure, and they only gave McCarthy a one year extension. So he was under contract only through two thousand nineteen and the structure change was this instead of the general manager having the authority over the head coach team, president, Mark Murphy. Took over the authority and McCarthy reported to Murphy, the GM reported to Murphy, it was entirely different power structure. So any sense that this season didn't go or wasn't going to go as well as they had hoped? You had to wonder if this was coming and with those stretch that they've had the four losses in five games on the road. And then coming home today an embarrassing showing on offense. It all goes back to when Aaron Rodgers ripped the offense here after their win over buffalo. That was the first real side of the beginning of the end for Mike McCarthy, as we mentioned Joe Philbin will take over an interim basis, but with that being said long-term word you the Packers go here from here. I should say in terms of a new head coach. Yeah. Well, Michael, I just got a text message right before we went on the air from a player somebody who played prominently in today's game and said who do you think our next head coach will be so even the players want to know that they possibly made this move to try to see if Joe Philbin was the guy. Remember Philbin was a coach in Miami. Mike Patton is also on the staff. Former Browns kit coaches a defensive coordinator. But more than likely they will go with someone who can bring some new offensive ideas to this group that the big question now, though isn't necessarily who's going to be the next coach. It's who's going to hire the next coach just Murphy stay in that role or does he then turn it finally turn it back over to Brian good accuse after Kuna proved himself to be a pretty good talent evaluator and building the roster. The feeling here is that they need to go back to the structure of the way. It's been over the years here. The general manager made all football decisions. We'll see if that happens Murphy, we'll talk to reporters tomorrow here early afternoon.
