"The Blue Jays, reeling from the news of losing their ace last night, ace pitcher Mike Soroka. 23 years old 1 13 games a year ago with 2 68 earned run average. Coming off the mound of field. A ball tore his Achilles You wins looking at it. He was an All star last year, finished second in the National League Rookie of the year, finished sixth in the Cy Young voting he is done for the season. The Marlins, playing for the first time since a week from Sunday, are in Baltimore to take on the Orioles. The White Sox in Brewer's hook up in Milwaukee. We know how good he was or how good he was going into last week's matchup against the Reds, and the Reds knocked him around a little bit. Also, the Angels are in Seattle to take on the Mariners. I bring that up because Shohei Otani has a flexor mass strain, joining a long list of pitchers who have been injured. He's been shut down from throwing 4 to 6 weeks. Still will d. H. At least that's the plan. It does not look like he will pitch again this season for the Angels. Among the original games that were Cancelled due to cope in 19 Philadelphia, New York, originally Scottish ST Louis in Detroit, Philadelphia and my Amy Last night for the rent. A team performance. I noted on Twitter this morning as I look at my sheet handwritten notes throughout the game, the number of different players I had stars next to her performances last night that was a grinder of a wind. That was a one run win. You'll take those that was a comeback win. They were down to nothing, and that's a way to get you to the 500 marks. Sonny Gray wobbled early, give up a home run in the first. Give up another run in the second. That was a single and error on a pick off throw while pitched. 1/3 wild pitch scored him. It was to nothing and Sonny Gray had thrown 43 pitches for the through the 1st 2 innings, and you wondered if that would be the night his streak would end. It did not. He extends to 36 consecutive starts without allowing It's more than six hits. He settled down by the third, struck out the side in the fourth, and the Reds picked him up after he left the game and got in the wind six innings off one earned run baseball. I thought one of many storylines, though, the bullpen got nine out, this team in the starter goes out. If you're like me, you start counting out who's going to get him? How many DEA need to get that needed to get nine? Lorenzen 123 inning with two strikeouts. Jones in inning with two strikeouts Iglesias a save with two strikeouts, The bullpen went three gave up, one hit, No runs, No walks, six strikeouts. Iglesias pitches well on back to back days, two consecutive nights had to feel good about his performance, leaving the ballpark and keep in mind. He pitched last night after throwing 19 pitches on Sunday. I do find it interesting, and I wonder if David Bell, we'll talk about this in the pre game tonight, a mirror Garrett hasn't pitched in a.

"Thank you thank you. That was a <hes> pretty fun to watch <hes> so yeah. I got some final thoughts. Welcome to the big leagues leaks one a._j. Puck oh yeah aw the arrival is upon us. It's time to get puck and nasty. It's fucking time. Let's go they're going to be how how tall is he. Six six seven six places the ball at home plate and he doesn't throw try try the way <hes> another announcement that i have to make as part of my final thoughts is <hes> i. I told you i told did you that. I was gonna sneak one past the goalie. They wouldn't let me do my first two ideas but i've got that i've got one nice. I've got one approved. I thought i thought you were going to be a father. I'm pr- i don't have sex jay traditional use of sneak one past the goalie but it is but in this general sense more important that you got that ready to go yeah. We are talking about a t shirt that i've been trying to get approved for quite some time. Finally have it approved and i'm. I'm pretty excited about it. We're going to drop it. Drop it relatively soon so for that. I have sorry go ahead. I have a final thought through though police get it off just a thought that i've been meaning to say for every podcast since the one after i got married i don't know whether to be insulted assaulted or complemented by the number of people who responded to the photo that you guys posted that with some variation of wow i expected j. Hey kid to be uglier. Basically in some ways like all right well. I'm not as ugly as they on the other hand they're like. Why are you assuming i'm ugly at all yeah. That's that's some guy said. Wait all all glasses and hair on the sides of my head what is going on. Wow that's how that's how they ended up. I guess that's i guess that's what an informed <hes> baseball intellectual sounds like or the the grouch grouch crew. You should keep your eyes peeled because we've awesome. We've got some great. We've got some great t-shirts coming out. I'm showing the boys boys right now. If you're a you're cincinnati reds fan. That's so fucking sick. If you're cincinnati reds fan be beyond the lookout. I guess my final shoutout or my final thought is and i hate to go here but i have to because we mentioned these. These guys going to be in the cy young the oakland. A.'s were finally able to beat justin verlander. Justin verlander was logging victories against the oakland a.'s. He's in his fucking crib corrobos all right these the victories just in berlin was logging in college. Somehow went onto his professional record against the oakland. A.'s this is a guy that they just could not but key beat to save the say and they finally they finally did it. They took three out of four from the houston astros. They only got one of the big three. If you will touched up aaron sanchez welcome to the bucket bay and it was a big series for the oakland a.'s bigger because they got justin verlander congrats on getting him in the regular season the red sox beat them in the postseason won the world series <hes> thank you for listening shadow to mike saroka for coming on the pot and to his dad for being <hes> probably are arguably the best his father and major league baseball right now so that's <hes> that's a hell of a distinction and we will be back later this week. "And three two two so still top of the top of the league type stuff exactly injury plagued seasons past few years right and still not even sniffing different fucking three e._r._a. All right enough about me. Will we see teammates finished final twitter's question. Will we see teammates finish one to two in the cy young voting michigan for the first time since r._j. And big schill did it in two thousand two berliner garrett cole hell yeah you say you will happen. Yes it should if it doesn't then the wrong. I mean those are the one two right. Now in the american league lander should win it. Garrett cole should be the number two i. I don't have any nothing to say to that. Can i can. I ask a interesting interesting. Can i ask a follow up question. Sure please please. Do you think it's possible that we get it in both the a._l. And the n._l. I was just going to ask that like i guess is the number to re. Are you should win it. Would you have kirsch are bueller kershaw as the number two. I think mueller would probably have a stronger case but yeah kershaw. I think would also be in the mix. I guess kershaw has equally as good of a case. I think you can also like the chances diminished by the day but if he's probable to come back thursday and put together other a great final month i do think sure there's still in this conversation yeah and very well rattle off. Five fucking starts starts of ten plus punch outs each. Just remember me bitches like even with the time missed sherzer is only fourteen innings pitched behind rio so oh if he is healthy as dallas just alluded to over the final thoughts over his final. What seven starts six starts something like that. It's both possible that he passes review in innings pitched so he'd have quant quantity and he would have probably a pretty compelling quality case to all right final thoughts. I'll tell you guys up zac cranky third active pitcher two hundred games to be two hundred game winner that just happened since last pod and mike trout past derrick jeeter on the all time war saw that with graphs and baseball reference that was like a nice glass of of red wine shelled around my mouth for a few minutes. You know what i mean isn't elvis. It's good it's good because what that will do is is for all the jeeter stands that will just put into perspective. How good a look it's tough. It's tough for me to say this right now. Because at the end of the day a ball player but this will kind of shine a light on and just how good durable white isn't the threat trout having surpassed him in total career career value as a player right now will shine a light on how good derek jeter wasn't now. I'm not taking a god damn ebbing away from a guy who's got three thousand plus knox and will be in the hall of fame. No questions asked it just kind of that same feeling of and this was going around on twitter outstanding defensive plays and catches made in the stands or whatever to even if you're a yankee fan or or you're a derek jeter fan and you're worth your salt at all. You know that that play cannot be a part of plays made made in the stands so if you're somebody who is okay with that play being apart of crazy catches being made in the stands. You're somebody who will never understand dan what i'm saying right now. When there's a guy playing baseball that's already better than this guy. You will die for yeah. I can't get across to you so it just will put it in perspective for me and for i think a lot of people like as great as you think jeeter is because he's the cow the cash cow lavar of our era or whatever you know mike trout coming up right behind him already there my final thought ah i forgot how much i love anthony rizzo that <hes> that little league game they played cubs pirates like having him miked up those really cool cool having him put one off the scoreboard and be like put it go..

"We actually haven't even mentioned it yet on this particular <hes> podcasts we we hyped it up last show mike saroka of the atlanta braves. He is our guest this week. It is an interview that we conducted at the all star game. His dad is also an all star not officially recognized by major league baseball but he is officially recognized as an all star by <hes> starting starting nine and the grounds crew. You'll recognize him. After this interview my saroka the atlanta braves mike saroka lab rats all star all star. How does does that sound to be an all star. It sounds crazy in major league baseball by the way we're not talking babe ruth talk in high school and college. You didn't create this this player in the show league baseball. There is no league above that so for you. What does it mean to be an all star at the highest level. You can possibly play the sport <hes> i mean. It's crazy to think about really i mean it's something that you never really set as a goal right i mean it's something that you come into the season i did and i failed l. miserably but go ahead and tell me the now looking forward. It'd be something that you put out there but i think <hes> you know being just young and i didn't even make starting rotation at a at a camp because i was hurt. <hes> you know it's just something i wanted to be atten. Be competing for the team. <hes> be i mean really playing. It will be this show and all that kind of stuff. You want to be an all star with all those guys in the game and <hes> now just to to be on the hotel even see all the guys that you grew up watching thing pretty cool. You said this wasn't necessarily a personal goal of your something that you have on your radar to start. The season obviously mentioned battling injury coming out. What were the personal goals for you starting the season because you're probably just make the two seconds talking to you. You're probably more of a process oriented individual yeah well then what the results will look like. Hopefully i'm guessing that there was something that you had on your mind aside from staying healthy and clearly not the all star game but you knew that was going to happen. <hes> what was it there was is to stay healthy and be in the big leagues the rest of the year. I mean give the team chance..

"All three of those guys were essentially non quantities this year and whatever you think of those players they were counted on and signed to be key members of this bullpen japan or or in the case of dominguez was already here and developed to be a part of that bullpen oduber harare for again entirely different reasons. He was supposed to be a regular member of this outfield in addition to mccutchen. He was not available to them for much of the season and was quite bad even when he was around so that kind of speaks to your point but i think there was i think it's a combination of things but like you look at the key players to me have mostly shown up. Nola got off to a rough start. He's still having a very good season real. Muto utah has been one of the best catchers in baseball cesar hernandez gene sierra. Those guys have performed at the level that you would have expected for those players. Bryce harper has performed ah inconsistently but the end product has been exactly what you would have or should have expected from bryce harper. What about resources though like i feel like that was a guy the when you add guy like bryce harper to the lineup. You almost expect a guy like hoskins to reap the benefits of that presence. I i mean i don't want to delve into a protection a myth sort of conversation but to me like he's hoskins is having almost the exact same season that he had last year so i get. Maybe there was some expectation getting better. Though that's gonna take the guy that's providing protection to be a guy say that you don't want to beat you and bryce. Harper hasn't necessarily been that guy fair all year long and that's what plays in he's mother fucking hiccups leist. I could fuck you punch anything right now something i would lay my fucking grandma gramma their outright now. If i can get rid of these doubts let me let me show you a little hiccup tricky ready. I've tried them all. I've held hold your breath for as long long as you possibly can. I've just been doing that is all. I haven't hold it as long as you possibly can and then blow out as as slowly as you can once you can't hold it any longer. Dallas is going to be like to.

"The phillies this year because you know it sucks to sign a guy like that and think that you're going to have this weapon coming out of your bullpen <hes> especially if you look at the the numbers last year like he struck out like ninety something batters in sixty something innings like he was he was extremely effective out of the the yankee bullpen but i think if if this phillies team after all the talk leading up to the twenty nineteen season all the moves that they made. I don't think that we'll look back on the robertson injury and be like damn. That's what costume i think it was some of the guys that were healthy that actually she played the games and just did not perform to their capabilities ball. It's also tough to think that only getting six two-thirds innings out of daniel robertson. David robinson's over the course of this two year deal. Yeah is is not impact. I mean come on. This is a guy that you were <hes>. You're not looking at them like mo but you're like no but we know what the pedigree is. We know we know what we think. We have here and the health as well right this guy that was the problem he had never been on the deal so everything that would cause you to take pause was taken care of meaning. We don't have any of these red flags. We're good well six and two thirds innings later twenty three million dollars later two years later that's all you're getting tough to think that he wouldn't have had excuse me wouldn't have had a positive impact should he have been healthy and been able to take the ball because the trickle down effect is very very real in baseball in the bullpen. Where if there's a a guy or a couple of guys who were down there accounting for outs that others don't have to concern themselves with everybody sort of falls in line. They didn't have that in have that guy. I kind of disagree with your take jared actually a little bit proceed. I think obviously they're worse. There was some level of underperformance by the guys who participated in the games michael franko being maybe the signature member of that group but i look at this injury list and the amount of money and the importance that these players were supposed to play on the injured list and like the long-term injured list is for this team ariana's kind of his own category but he was injured for much of the season. Andrew mccutchen was playing very effectively for them injured for much of this season. David david robertson by himself is not the end of their season but david robertson on top of tommy hunter on top of pattni shack on top of sarangani any dominquez..

"I think i think the how many blips on the radar there when you're thirty five years old like it's a back injury like i know it's not necessarily a chronic one but like he lost two hundred points off his from seventeen to eighteen like the big drop already happened this continuation and it's not only that to to the this year. There's there's something that i saw that jay. I'm sure if if you looked at the number you saw probably the same thing i did and it's the flip flop of the strikeout percentage and the walk percentage that that right there tells me that there's something going on in the dome of joey votto not necessarily a inability to reactor produce physically but we have seen him and we have seen his ondeck routine evolve. We have seen the way he takes pitches at the plate evolve and i'm talking about the way he physically reacts to pitches. We we've seen these changes occur. What we have seen gene also that is start is the the strikeout percentage up to twenty one percent and the walk percentage down to twelve percent that strikeout percentage percentage is as high as it's ever been in his career and that walk percentage is as low as it's ever been since two thousand eight where he i logged five hundred plus plate appearances. That's a big big deal for a guy who has really prided himself on and has become known as the expert feeler color of the strike zone right like if you're looking for somebody to tell you that that's a ball or that. That's a strike that lists usually starts with joey votto. There's some other guys that you can throw in there. He's got some good feel but i mean joey votto. He of the four hundred plus obi has been the guy that you're like this is the this is the bar this is it and now how it does not look great at all worst on-base percentage worst of his career slugging percentage second worst strikeout rate worst. I waited runs created plus worst woah worst i. I'm going to be in his age thirty six yard yeah no. I'm i'm with you that we've obviously seeing the best season of joy vodkas career i do. I feel very very confident in saying that joey votto house season next year will be better than this season in not marginally now where it's like oh well. He's you know it's a couple points hiring earnest and it's like i think i think that it will be noticeably better than it was this year. What sucks is. I think the contract is going to <hes> is going to create the roadblock of being able to extend joy vodkas career all a slide into a d. h. Spot you're not. You're not moving with that contract. He's going to have to play every day and if you're starting to get the injuries or you're starting to to feel the unraveling affect of sorts of the veteran ballplayer. It's gonna it's gonna be tough for him to maintain a level of production that that you're okay with making that money in the back end that he is and money is what it is. I mean that's guaranteed years one hundred million dollars that was left yup up after this year i mean exactly yeah exactly damn and there's nowhere and there's no there's no alleviation. There's no like i think gone are the days where we are going to seek contracts like this. I think teams have finally finally smartened up to where it's like. The the philosophy is an all right. We'll we'll pay for those prime years for you to sign here knowing that the last four or five years on the back end of this contract. You're going to be fucking brutal and we're not going to know what to do with you. Those contracts are just not being handed out anymore. No we're gonna we're gonna see early. Retirees in the game of baseball and you're going to see guys you're going to see early retirees and you're gonna see guys who just don't make what they potentially would or could have made in years past like the re- the market is changing and that's the fucking reality middle-class seal later. Also i do think this is his his rapid decline from twenty seventeen both accounting and rates..

"Because i think the layoff has kind of not not done any favours but the layoff has allowed folks to forget this was not agreed start for corey kluber no not at all but i i do think they're built in such a way where like if if corey kluber or carlos carrasco again for very different reasons i understand but like if one of them comes back and is a is eighty percent of what they had previously been. I think that can work because shane bieber is pitching at a level that is at or near what we knew corey kluber to be right like chevy pay. Send it to that level. Mike levinger might have the most electric stuff of the entire group as we saw against the yankees on what was that sunday and then they've gotten legitimate production from the back end of that rotation which i understand is probably more important for the remainder of the regular season in the postseason <hes> disappointing outcome for sure. You're on kluber to have him so close and to have take a step back. I think they're okay in the interim. Yeah don't get your hopes. Don't do you too disappointed because you think about where the cleveland indians could potentially be. I mean look who knows what that division ends up looking like between them and minnesota ooh but let's say they still have any how how many head to head games they have remaining any. That's a good question. I would say probably like six. Maybe to i do not least three they have they have a three game series in minnesota on september sixth through eighth and then that is it. Oh i'm sorry oh no i'm sorry and then a home series in cleveland september thirteenth to fifteenth so six mornings beautiful and um so i let me throw this at you j yes so how well bieber in cleven jer have pitched this year her yup and you know you're talking about well. They need it would be nice if they had kluber and carrasco. Isn't that kinda similar to in years past when it was kluber kluber corral and everyone else isn't a sort of just like a substitute where it's like bieber is been a top five pitcher in the league club injures been outstanding so so it's kind of like they're playing the roles of kluber and carrasco kluber in colorado are playing the rules of like our tower in ayrshire sure yeah no. I think that's interesting parallel. I would say that they went to the world series with that formula. Largely you know what i mean and they've and they've made serious runs in other seasons with that formula so it's not the ideal setup and i do think that's one of the things that ends up being overrated sometimes about these super rotations is is that how many times have we seen super rotation actually be fully intact by the time the postseason rolls around. It doesn't feel like it's that often. Maybe that's the indians pardon me being like their experience clouding it but it just doesn't seem like everybody's firing at all cylinders very often on these greatest rotations of the last fifteen in years sort of thing but yeah i mean it's. We'll see how it goes but i'm really encouraged by. The indian staff has been pitching overall third-best in baseball baseball over the entire season fourth-best over the last month. It's incredible what they do with guys that were not like elite elite level prospect type pitchers. We'll continue to throw like this. They've also had some a little bit of hard luck cleveland indians as a team. They have twelve losses when receiving a quality start from. I'm their pitcher so that's an that's. I believe that's tied for the m._l._b. High point in baseball so they're getting the performances. It just got to put it all together. <hes> i still has high hopes for the cleveland. Indians come october over i do we'll see we'll see if the minnesota to we'll see the minnesota twins have to say about that joey votto dead well uh well. I mean you have to think that the star level portion of his career is officially behind us right yeah off aw though yeah i figure this season could be a blip on the radar..

"Probably a little pep here gentleman do we we do. There's something that we need to discuss us right off the bat on a i. It's still a somber note. It's not even like oh thank god god. He doesn't need tommy john surgery. Here's the deal right. Chris sale doesn't need tommy john surgery that was the that was on the kicker yesterday. Do i do i the <noise>. That's what i'm saying is like. Have you have a situation where they they can say all right well. He does not need tommy. John surgery bet it should sentence should end with right now. I don't think it's situation where you're out of the woods just because dr james andrews takes a look at your elbow and they determine that you don't need tommy john surgery. I think that what they're doing thing is they're taking every <hes> sort of method known to avoid tommy john surgery and they still could. There's a chance get to a point where they're like we need to we need to open this bitch up so right now like good say so he gets. It's the injection which i heard hurts like some bitch. I heard that yeah. I hear that that doesn't feel good at all but <hes> jeff passan <unk> described it as for some guys. It's a miracle worker you you know you're you're good as new after you get it some guys. It does absolutely nothing nothing so p._r._p. Yes you get a p._r._p. Injection yeah it can work. Miracles sometimes does absolutely nothing so so what the red sox chris sale are kind of looking at right. Now is roughly six weeks remaining in the season <hes>. There's no chance he's going to pitch again this year so you lose them for the rest of the regular season. If by chance the red sox make it to the postseason don't bank on chris sale for that either <hes> so he's done for or twenty nineteen but <hes> in that six week window where it would roughly be around like the division series time. You'll have a better understanding standing of does chris sale need tommy john surgery so that's why that's why when we were at the golf tournament yesterday. I see it up on the t._v. Chris sale doesn't need tommy john surgery. It's like no it should say the red sox are avoiding tommy john surgery with chris sale as of right. Now that's table. That's what gets tough about. This is because the p._r._p. Injections those typically do help look. I got the p._r._p. Injection and i i had multiple p._r._p. Injections and describe that feeling by the way well..

"Welcome back to starting nine jaw aw episode one twenty-one <hes> this episode almost didn't happen as as planned the barstool classic. Let me tell you some dallas as as a as a as a big leaguer. I can't imagine that you spend very much much time on a golf course. I feel like that's kinda commonplace though yes yeah yeah that's that's that's where he spent. That's where i was going to spend the majority of my days. You're that's that's where <hes> that's where early retirees are sent out to pasture. You go find a nice country club to become a member of an you. Show up every day and you look around going. I have zero fucking common people aside from the fact that we own golf clubs. What the fuck am i doing we gear with these people none of them get high and if they do they're all on their on that buchan bug shook and then it might train saying so. It's just yeah a very quickly not my demographic if you if you catch my drift if brandon walked onto a golf course right now they would probably. I just feel like oh i get it. Your happy gilmore's caddy. That's funny as it so i gotta tell you this mean wilson in one time like we're coming off the golf course and we're going to go. We're gonna go have <hes> dinner and we're going to go have dinner at this really nice. Ace hotel in beverly hills actually called the beverly <hes> so we roll up and again. We're just off the course but put wilson is wearing a shredded tank top like it's it's it's a tank top but the tank itself is just fucking ripped and mangled looks like he got it out of a trash bin and then there's i wear i wearing a wife beater so i'm not any farther along or higher up on the scale of looking better than anybody else but wilson's shorts are also completely shredded rips but we get up to the maitre d' and and the he knows who knows it is <hes> and he's like oh yeah okay. There's just called on this is going to be awkward and he makes them call but he gets on the call and he's so fucking flustered by how we look trying to enter into his restaurant. He's talking on the phone. He's looking at us and he's talking with his hands so he's a pointed us but verbalizing to the people on the phone and he's like yeah i've got. I don't know another way to say. I've got a couple of v._i._p.'s. He's here with no pants wilson just look at each other and it was great because at the same time we both just start start to whittle like wiggle out of our pants like pull your pants down really not not here. Sorry not here but the visual is wilson. The fucking folded up front brim ripped shredded t shirt ripped shredded tank top. He's got holy pants on holy shorts. I'm looking very much. The same and there's a guy screaming on the phone about how to v._i._p.'s with no pants on are complaining that they can't get in. I mean that that's sort of <hes> <hes> the questions that i feel about you now. You probably fielded about wilson then where it's like is he liked that all the time like is it. Is that just like <hes> like when he's in public thing like an on camera thing or is he like that all the time. No no no no ma'am <hes> now. He's like that all the time that's yes. That's just who he is and that's just how he operates is a lot better when there was another weirdo role and right next to me because i just kind of blend right the fuck look you know what i mean..

"It's fucking time. That's that's some guys said. Wait all all glasses and hair on the sides of my head what is going on. Wow that's how that's how they ended up. I guess that's i guess that's what an informed <hes> baseball intellectual sounds like or the the grouch grouch crew should keep your eyes peeled because we've awesome. We've got some great. We've got some great t-shirts coming out. I'm showing the boys boys right now. If you're a you're cincinnati reds fan. That's so fucking sick. If you're cincinnati reds fan be beyond the lookout if you're looking to get punished if you will aristidies at kaneohe we fuck it fire coming your way. We got some fire coming your way. If you will touched up aaron sanchez welcome to the buchan bay and it was a big series for the oakland a.'s bigger because they got justin verlander congrats on getting him in the regular season the red sox beat them in the postseason won the world series <hes> thank you for listening shadow to mike saroka for coming on the pot and to his dad for being <hes> probably are arguably the best his father and major league baseball right now so that's <hes> that's a hell of a distinction and we will be back later this week. I don't know how we're going to do that because i fly to san diego on thursday so maybe we'll record <hes>. I don't know maybe like super early on. I don't know how the fuck something. We'll talk out. After we stop recording yeah. We'll have to figure that out but next podcast cast coming to you later in the week. Thanks for listen. We'll see you later now <music>..

"Can i can. I'll tell you guys up zac cranky third active pitcher two hundred games to be two hundred game winner that just happened since last pod and mike trout past derrick jeeter on the all time war saw that with graphs and baseball reference. I was like that was like a nice glass of of red wine shelled around. My mouth for a few minutes isn't elvis. It's good it's good because what that will do is is for all the jeeter stands that will just put into perspective. How good a look it's tough. It's tough for me to say this right now. Because at the end of the day a ball player but this will kind of shine a light on and just how good durable white isn't the threat trout having surpassed him in total career career value as a player right now. We'll shine a light on. How good derek jeter wasn't now. I'm not taking a god damn ebbing away from a guy who's got three thousand plus knox and will be in the hall of fame. No questions asked it just kinda that same feeling of and this was going around on twitter outstanding defensive plays and catches made in the stands or whatever to even if you're a yankee fan or or you're a derek jeter fan and you're worth your salt at all. You know that that play cannot be a part of plays made made in the stands so if you're somebody who is okay with that play being apart of crazy catches being made in the stands. You're somebody who will never understand dan what i'm saying right now when there's a guy playing baseball that's already better than this guy. You will die for yeah. I can't get across to you so it just will put it in perspective for me and for i think a lot of people like as great as you think jeeter is because he's the cow the cash cow lavar of our era or whatever you know mike trout coming up right behind him already there my final thought ah i forgot how much i love anthony rizzo that <hes> that little league game they played cubs pirates like having him miked up those really cool cool having him put one off the scoreboard and be like put it go. Thank you thank you. That was a <hes> pretty fun to watch <hes> so yeah. I got some final thoughts. Welcome to the big leagues leaks one a._j. Puck oh yeah aw the arrival is upon us. It's time to get puck and nasty..

"I it's just it's it's. It's all perception right. It's all what you will the conversation surrounding the club during in those times was heavy and this is all this is also a club who in years past would trades were a potential those were being shot shot down and killed by an extensive and elaborate vetting process of one of the most <hes> what to say a very the <hes> clearly very picky medical staff jerry. What are you got. I think it is unfair. A little bit <hes> <hes> that the orioles are being singled out because you know theo epstein comes in there is to three something like one hundred law seasons mixed in there the astros reap the benefits of this more than anyone by being an absolute disaster and then they get all those first first round first overall first round second overall what up alex bregman picks and that built their core. I guess i guess if the orioles i guess if the oriels are going to be looked. Data's not a joke of a franchise that won't <hes> i guess i have all these columnists coming up with how <hes> major league baseball -aseball should introduce a relegation <hes> i feel like the only way to reverse that is to go out and do what the cubs and the astros have done and <hes> you know when they've taken similar paths and that's go out and dominate in in in the draft but they've also supplemented with international free agent talent <hes> the times have changed their they you know the the restrictions that the orioles are under at least from an international standpoint didn't quite exist when when the cubs and and in the astros were building their cores but i guess i guess it remains to be seen but i do think that there is a little bit of unfairness is tate's to how people view the orioles because the tigers have been worse who or the orioles who they got back in those traits with those two guys britain and machado. I ah correct me if i'm wrong here j. I don't think nam one of them are in the top one hundred m._l._b. prospect list correct so you're giving away a generational player in manny machado and you're giving away that kind of bull pin arm with that kind of track record zach britton and and you don't get <hes> ooh solo gimme one of these mother fuckers in the top one hundred nope did the astros were they in that situation were they were they in a position where they had players identifiable resources that they he could have gotten off and receive something in return and just didn't or just were underwhelmed and like. I don't think the astros were in that position so to your point. They were a couple or few three hundred hundred lost seasons on the chin and that put them in the position to grow their club and cultivate the talent that they did i. I don't think the other clubs were in those positions at that time so i again. I think that's why the orioles and you know rightfully so we're not but i think that's why the conversation shen has been what it's been surrounding them. Two point two points. I wanna make i one and you guys have kind of touched on this danced around that a little bit neither z. cubs nor the astros when they executed their rebuilds had anything resembling a manny machado in his prime player they cast that they traded or let go or whatever off their roster. Those rosters had decayed to a point where the only notable players were all veteran guys is right guys who were obviously not going to be part of the next successful cubs or astros team that cannot be said about machado the orioles could have invested two hundred depending on when they chose to sign him a hundred fifty two hundred and fifty million dollars in re-signing manny machado and making him the face of the organization moving forward they could've done on that that really wasn't in play for either two and secondly and this is the point i wanted to make when i saw the question to pretend that the astros and cubs namely the astros were not subject to rounds of consistent criticism for what they did at the time is flat out miss remembering history..

astros orioles manny machado cubs tate theo epstein zach britton baseball alex bregman tigers shen fifty million dollars one hundred m

"Everybody was like this is a guy. I thought was going to break out. He's disappointing me. The cardinals are disappointing me. I'm not going to pay attention to them anymore and when you have when you have an e._r._a. Approaching five at the beginning of july like sorry you fall off the radar to a degree but will rectify that and since since july the seventh eighth starts sub one e._r._a. Across fifty and a third innings only fourteen walks sixty one punch outs opponents batting average under two hundred sitting is in at one forty five opponents p._s. Garib us four fifty two and that's also including a streak in which he was dealing against against the astros the cubs and the dodgers that saw him log nine punch outs nine punch outs tin punch outs respectively <hes> <hes> there were some. I don't wanna call them clunkers but <hes> there were some outings in there against i think the giants and maybe my pittsburgh pirates who seem to be struggling glenn this year just to touch but but yeah i mean he's he's getting done and j absolutely nailed it. Which is it was. It wasn't sexy at the beginning of the year. You know what i'm saying. Fifteen to twenty pounds overweight little food but little muffin top action but you next thing you know little brazilian boatlift d._v._d. And all of a sudden spandex is your best friend ally have no problem with being seen with you in public. I love jack flaherty. Take on my shortlist for breakouts. I'm all on board on this one. Why are the orioles only getting attacked for rebuilding how the cubs.
