"I party and like whatever Nintendo's offering third party lies. Go to play the PlayStation games because that is PlayStation booth is always. Yeah. Awesome. You're comparing quality content, and then it's like, okay, then eventually go to Microsoft and see what they have offering. That's just my interest. And then you usually pretty great, otherwise, you're tiered of you. Visit the boots. And what the way they present it and the games that they have and the amount of games what the actual hands on demos. A lot of places don't have that EA. Traditionally just has a lot of flash. No actual sometimes were very behind closed doors as well. It's repress owns Backley, and Barry is you most of those who has gone there. Just simply not they're Microsoft is going to need to have a huge footprint or they ransom games to play. A lot of things. Fill it with game stations. Let people get their hands on these games. And I'm worried that they're not getting too. It's funny that it will double their cost of the footprint on the show for if they were to buy into PlayStations force base. That'd be an interesting one to look up for kind of wrong. If we know if that force base that Sony's using his being taken up there's maps of the three that are usually distributed for me three. But I don't know if the question for your wrong, somebody let me know, this is Microsoft even at three this year because they didn't say what mixture was there. What did they not have like I remember seeing the XBox logo? Next. The PlayStation, though, imagine I've been to so many of them. They had a mix thing this year. They're doing mixer ally. Across the street. Oh, that's right. They had like their XBox. There's a lot of the stuff at the Mike Shaw theatre. That's a really good question. Which would be in stark contrast. I feel like to we want to celebrate gaming, but I will say that is the problem that eat three is facing. Which is it is an exorbitant amount to be on those show floors, the union fees twelve hour twenty dollars sandwiches. It's expensive for people to be there. They're already spending a ton of press conferences, and there's this feeling of getting strong-armed frankly into being the show now they're introducing the fans, we'll guess what I need you to deal with Fank not that. We don't want fans go shows, but it's making the show's harder on the publishers which mostly wanted to announce stuff, and and not like, you know, like they do a games comments like an insane event. But that's a good question. Because it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft still takes the digital stage, right because that's very effective way to reach millions. And with any three meaning you do reach whatever one hundred thousand people or whatever it is directly. Coverage wise, you still reach millions. And that's the argument to be made. But it's the reason that in other words Sony, rockstar, many others air, like, look, we're just a, you know, we're not going to be in there. Some one other quick note here just for context was as reminder of Microsoft game studios, showing stuff will ask February at. Mike shelf in house in February that marks up studios is now XBox game studios actually thought they know that long time ago. This was within the story that I read there. But regardless it's thirteen individual development teams previous establish studios under that umbrella are three four three Mojanke, which does Minecraft Ray are turned ten and you now we have folks like the engine theory and up city. And so that's what's exciting about this going back to the story. We were on which is these new studios we keep who they bought engine theory. That means good chance..

"They made some progress. Overnight working all night trying to clear the ice from the runways, but it is still closed and we do not have an opening time set up yet. Problems everywhere. And when there are problems on the roads everywhere the Michigan state police at their finest and Lieutenant Mike Shaw from the Michigan state police on the other end of our line right now. It's been one of those mornings hasn't it. Lieutenant. It's a good day for crews. I would listen what you're talking about before. Yeah. We've we've been pretty busy. I think the biggest issue that we get out there as people they step outside. They kinda slip a little bit on the porch. You kinda worries them a little bit. So they drive through the neighborhood extra cautiously because they know there's ice on there. And then they jump on the freeway and forget where they're going and next thing, you know, they're in the ditch. So as we always say in these type of weather conditions, if you take your time, you'll be fine. So just leave early take your time. Remember that your car only understands one input at a time. So if you're trying to steer you can't break at the same time because that causes your car to fishtail, so just be careful out there and you'll be fine. The biggest thing we've seen as semi drivers. We've had three semis. Jack knife overnight one still currently on Tuesday. And they're the professionals, and they're and they're the pros. So there the week that remind them every once in a while that all those wheels on ice just slide. So careful around those semis. You know, don't give them there. Plenty of room because if they have to jam on their brakes avoid running into the back here, they're they're gonna lose control out there. A far too familiar shot this morning, and in any of these icy conditions in storms is you'll see a trooper up ahead on the left or right side of the road and you see lights on her lights on and you approach cautiously you change lanes. So you're not right next to them. And the next thing you see is the most unusual view of a car pointed the wrong way on the expressway. And you say how in the world of that happened? Well, I'll tell you how happened they touched their breaks at that point probably going faster than conditions warrant in once you touch your brakes all hell breaks out. And that's one of the biggest problems that we see is. And we talk about leaving enough room. That's a big issue. We've kind of become a NASCAR generation on the freeways where we want to draft. Everywhere we go when we get as close to the Bombeck bumpers. We can't the person front of us God forbid, somebody get in front of us. We don't want that to happen. So, you know, leave that room open there because if you have to jam on your breaks, it's it's all over you're gonna lose control of your car. Enough. Is there anything is there anything we can do? I just went through that yesterday. Where sorry, it's the driver. I'm leaving all this room in front of me. And I'm not in the passing lane. And a driver comes up and his I never thought of it is drafting as you just put it. But this this person driving this car, SUV, whatever it was they appeared to be drafting on my car, and it's very unnerving situation. What do you do that? And that's the toughest part is sometimes if you just kinda gradually slow down the person behind you kind of get tired of it. You're not worth drafting anymore. So they'll kind of jump over into the next lane and pass you don't break. Check anybody. We we've seen that too many times. 'cause that kind of starts the whole Ray road rage incident. Usually if you kinda just kinda mind your own business and keep going most people just get tired of following behind. You that close to no end up as new. That's the best advice is kind of keep your cool. If everybody kept their cool. We went have road rage at all. But usually what happens is people get mad at the other person. And then we start jockeying for position, and then it becomes about egos and things like that. And that's when things. Kind of go out of hand. So, unfortunately, the best thing to do is to go slower. We're a society that we believe that if we go faster things get better go slower. Sometimes you know, that's enough. Just to get somebody off your tail and I will say around I will tell you this. I have in my years of driving accelerated around the problem more than I braked to avoid a problem. And that's what we try to kinda talk about a little bit. I think Diane across talked about it with the potholes where everybody thought if I just went faster I can get over this rough road without a issues. Well, now, you're just sitting those potholes at a.

"Michigan state police, and we check in with Lieutenant Mike Shaw on this very slippery Wednesday morning, Lieutenant good morning to you. We've been telling people to take it easy 'cause it's slippery out there. Oh, that's my macho for the last four or five years since I've been to public information officer when we know the weather's coming out there and freezing drizzle for us is always the worst because it doesn't look slippery. So people think that we don't know what we're talking about. Then they leave late. They drive too fast and too close to the car in front of them. And we have the amount of crashes that we've been seeing overnight. Well, tell me how many you've been seeing overnight because certainly we're on the road early. And we see a lot of cars turned in the wrong direction. So we know they've had a complete three sixty spin. But tell me how bad it's been. So it kind of depends where you're at. It's some of our neighborhoods that we patrol in northern Oakland County. It hasn't been too bad on the freeway system. We've had some areas that we've had to close I just because of the amount of crashes are out there and make it safer. Unfortunately, we talk about slowing down and moving over. We've had a truecar hit a salt truck kit and a courtesy van hit all overnight though. Fortunately, no injuries. They either the the party that lost control or the trooper. Salt driver, the curse courtesy van driver. That's easy for me to say guess. Out there. To get out there. So again, you know, it's a it's a simple things to do leave early for one to slow it down. You you need to be able to control your car and the third one. I think the most important one is don't get so close to everybody that's in front of you. Because if you have to jam on your breaks because you're too close to the car in front of you. That's what turns your your car and just lying around and boozing control and the last big part too. If you're one of those four wheel drive type of people just remember nice, it becomes four wheel slide. So you're no, you're no better off. We were talking about that off the air earlier, more and more people have pickup trucks. And then if they're smart in this part of the world you put four wheel drive on it. But that is meaningless on glare ice black ice. All of this stuff. Just, you know, take your time be careful out there and you'll be just fine. There's thousands of motorists troopers officers ambush riser driving around all today. And none of them have gotten in the crash. So it's definitely the usually the fault of the person that loses control the car that that made them end up in the ditch or somewhere else in stay off the brakes because the break you go to the break. You're starting to be in big trouble. Which is why you're suggesting to have a lot of space between the cars in front of you. We see that every day. No matter what I think anybody that's been on any of our Detroit freeway system during rush hour. We'll see somebody has to dart off onto the shoulder or Jared off into another lane because they were just too close to the vehicle in front of them to be able to stop at a little bit of freezing drizzle out there. And it makes it a lot worse. Yes, sir. Thank you for your help anything else, we need to know, Mike. Nope. Ever just again slowdowns. That's that's the best way to get to work today. Works going to be there. No matter what. So that's. And get there safely. That's the truth work will still be there. No matter. What? Thank you, sir already. You're welcome. Michigan state police Lieutenant Mike Shaw with the official words lowdown be carefully. It is slippery out there. They've been a lot of accidents. And there will be more. So be careful six fifty two with Paul. This is the time of year to think big. And with Michigan's academy roaring, many Michigan businesses are targeting growth beyond borders, both nationally around the world with new opportunities, though, come challenges. There are new legal and regulatory issues not to mention new customer and supplier relationships that businesses must confront when entering those new.

"To work to protect our elections. So check this out. It's a super fascinating interview, Brad Smith president, chief legal officer, Mike Shaw. So I'm here with Brad Smith that president and chief legal officer of Mike saw. Thanks for being with us today. Pleasure. It's great to be here. So really quick, I want to start. I don't think people realize this. How long have you been at Microsoft on the first of November will be twenty five years. That is an incredible run. I just couldn't get a job anywhere. It's been wonderful. I've loved every year. I started in Paris, spent three years there and have been working eared Redmond Washington since nineteen Ninety-six. So you've seen all the arrows of Microsoft. You've seen the leadership changes, and the reason I wanted to bring that up right at the top is it seems like right now is a very pivotal moment for the tech industry for the government for how we interact with Tech-. It feels like the the notion that the tech industry has big responsibility to both the culture to society to or elections is getting deeper. It's more resonant with many more people is that new is at me just not seeing it in the past. Is that the audience something in the past, or is that actually knew in terms of how. Zinin is right now, but I think it is definitely new and important ways to some degree. This is a trend that has been going on for a quarter of a century, but we're so clearly in a different place compared to tech in the past. And I think we're so clearly in a different place compared to other technologies and industries in the past. I remember in the nineteen ninety s when people I started to make movies that included the internet at it, and it was just starting to seep into the public consciousness. I remember when technology issues from public policy perspective, I went from sort of legal publications in Tuesday, the back page of something like time magazine and then eventually made it to the cover. But now it's in the middle of everything. And I think that there are a few characteristics that are really worthy today. I were dealing with technology and technology companies that are global that's different from prior eras of history. When technology's tended to be developed. Mostly by companies that were national second were dealing with technologies that are so pervasive that they're really impacting for all practical purposes. Every aspect of our daily lives not just at work, not just, you know what we read while we might be sitting on a subway car, but devices on our dinner table. In some cases, these are the things that people I look at when they wake up in the morning, they may even be the first thing or the last thing they looked at before they go to sleep at night and finally were working at a time when the political currents of our day are different from any other point, at least in our lifetime, there's more nationalism. There's more populism and in some places in the world, there's less confidence in government itself. So technology is ubiquitous. Technology companies have more impact. People have more doubts about other institutions in society on which we often relied in the past. And I think that that is playing out in ways big and small. You brought up the idea that the. Interrupt you. Whenever I speak to groups, I would say, would you put a camera in your bedroom? And everyone says, no, and I always remind them like you have two to three cameras in your bedroom just when you put your phone down at night. And I think that realization is starting to to grow, but really what I want to get to the notion of responsibility. Do you feel the tech industry has a greater responsibility to police itself? Or you know, you just read a blog post about facial recognition saying, we need some regulation here. We need to understand our limits..

Southbound two seventy five of course road all lanes closed and you're headed, to the airport and you're going to get there and, be. Surprised and you're in trouble if you're running, late to. The airport as I usually am. But as Dana said exit to. Michigan, avenue and get to Maryland but let's get further details from Michigan. State police spokesperson Lieutenant Mike Shaw Michael Something recently that you've got a, new are you first Lieutenant now I've been a first attendant for for quite a while now they just should, we Lieutenant on there and. A horrific fatal accident so about one. Forty this morning we got called out to southbound two seventy five and chorus for basically a two car non injury crash a party was driving southbound rear ended another vehicle they both pull off to, the shoulder one of the drivers watch over to, the media inside and the rest of the. More sideways so there's really no lights on. There. And that. Vehicle ends up getting struck by another vehicle also heading southbound there's one fatality? From the pedestrian they came outside, the vehicle fortunately there is no other injuries and the other two or three crashes that came from. Beside, that so we had kind of a mess on. Our hands at first trying to figure. Out exactly what occurred out there good news is that we should be if it's not already opened within the next five minutes or freeway should be back open so second affect rush hour but again, as we kind of look at these crashes the, most important thing to remember is get off The freeway as far as ways. You can possible and don't. Get out, of your car unless you really need to, and and definitely don't walk into those freeway traveling The key there is get off the, freeway as far as you can have your. One and get the state police there so they can take control. Of the situation set up roadblocks protect the people. Who were there along, the side of the road and that's the, biggest thing that we want to, remind people of and those of us that went to driver's training like a while ago we remember always hearing from our insurance companies everything you don't move the cars don't don't tell anybody anything we wanna make sure that you don't get found at fault in the crash technology and investigative skills of our troopers out there on these crashes we don't need the cars to be exactly where they were before the further you can get off the side of the road the better and if you don't feel comfortable up there and you you're able to communicate with the other party and pull off an exit ramp and go topside on the service drive it'll give us a call from there and we'd be more than happy to take that crash from there we don't need you to stay on the roadway and in fact michigan is a clear at state which means that if there's no serious injuries and there's no damage to the vehicles that keep them from moving your actually required by law to get him off the roadway and that's exactly kidding region Yup For people because, we we knew remember from driver's Ed and other times that save don't move the car, insurance, blah blah. Blah's, well you just said that's not true my, friends you get the heck out of the way if you can get way off the road and even do an exit if the cars, drivable if that's what makes you more? Get out of the car it's just the wrong thing to do and we've found, unfortunately I, would say a number of times over the years where somebody, gets out, of the car. And they get in trouble And by the way Michigan state police director Colonel Christie Kibi at you doing a nice job, in the hat we're talking about. Is the the hat they wore for. "Our group effort between both of our agencies will unfortunately i i just can't help but believe that sometimes these folks are dumb by alcohol drugs fatigue whatever it might be in frankly no matter how many signs you put up their those folks are still going to make these mistakes cohen we we looked at it we found their most the henson occur between six pm and six a m and there is an impairment factor and when we talk about impairment we also have to talk while you're not only alcohol but uh the increase in the always buoyed problem uh that prescription drugs uh day easier access the marijuana now uh and it again where you mentioned the fatigue and distracted driving also definitely plays a role in two people um making that an error and in your res uh sometimes no matter what we do you out there the signs aren't going to help it's a looking at that those specific problems with driving to kinda get people not to drive the wrong way on and the freeways michigan state police lieutenant mike shaw here's a question i i never thought of until jess now let's say you figure out that you have made a mistake and you're going the wrong way on the road as god forbid the free way that's when its most deadly but what's the official but maneuver what officially should you just pull off to the road to the right and stay there what should you do so i think of our people really still don't realize how fast traffic goes on their free way into you're in a situation like that either your car breaks down you're trying to change tire unit the wrong way so if you can safely get yourself turn round and go ahead and do so if he can't don't be afraid to call nine one one and let us know that hey you're you're stuck on the freeway uh you're facing the wrong way whatever the case may be and more some troopers out there actually stop the free way to get you turned around and and send your on your way if you're on a on a side street or if you're on the surface road a y you can probably get yourself turned around that way but again if you feel.
