"A guy like Rex Ryan on this stuff. And you know what? And you know what else a Rex Ryan would bring. He would bring to the table. He would not be just a yes man for Sean Payton. Yes. And one thing we learned this year with Nathaniel Hackett can't have just yes ma'am. You have to have somebody that can step up and say, yo, what are you doing? And Mike Shanahan and Gary kubiak had that. Well, Mike Shannon had it with both Gary kubiak and Alex gives it to you guys. Who would have no problem going up to and go, what the heck are you doing? For a guy like Peyton, having a guy like Rex? Who you know would not be afraid to share his opinion? Great. And the last thing. Streets are cold. Rex Ryan understands that. He's been doing TV for not one year not two years. You've been doing it for what the last 6 years or so. Streets are cold. When your name's not hot, it's not hot. So for him to get another opportunity, obviously he wants this opportunity to come back and you don't think he's going to work his butt off to keep Sean Payton in that head coach chair, but also to create other opportunities for his health as well. I think it would be good for this football team for sure. Yeah, I think there was a time when Rex went into TV that he figured his phone would be ringing pretty quickly. And now the years have dragged on and now he's looking at it like, hey, if I want to get another shot at being a head coach, I probably got to get back on that carousel again. And that means working my way back up. But being able to come from a position of defensive coordinator, not too far to have to work your way back up. Hey, thank you so much. You'll be back again tomorrow, looking forward to it. If you're not like, thanks for having me. That is exactly if you don't strain something over these next two hours. 5 hours of radio after not doing it for a while. I don't want you to hurt yourself. The plans to clear McPherson square of unhoused people is set to move forward. The National Park Service says it agreed with a request from D.C.'s Department of Health and Human Services to move the clearing up from April 15th. After learning of three deadly overdoses in the camp, the park service says it gave 14 days notice to those who live there, but with more than 70 encampments, it says it's challenging to remove trash and keep the area sanitary and accessible for emergency responders. In a letter to the superintendent of the park service, D.C. council members Robert white and Brian nadot disagreed with the decision, asking for a plan for everyone to be safely housed before the camp is closed. "Used to get. My beloved patriots. But on top of it, Kim is an underdog in a situation where the powers that be needed the chiefs to win. Maybe we should have known. Maybe that should have been a bigger red flag than anything. But how are they going to move that? How much are they going to move the line? If you move it to chiefs minus two and a half, they still cover. So I don't know. Does that scare people away from betting on them? I think you're right. But that might have been Bolton board material too. It wasn't mahomes like a favorite in 14 straight playoff games and between that and hearing about how they're going to decimate that offensive line, then yeah, maybe that was enough to give them some energy. That would be ten, the third. He's come through in all these, except that weird Bengals game last year when I think I'm always going to think he was concussed in that game. All right, more stuff. The Andy Reid two time ring club, how many coaches do you think have two rings? Oh. I looked this up and I was surprised by the answer. Tricky Johnson. 5. It's 13. What? Yeah. Belichick 6, chuck noll four, Bill Walsh three and Joe Gibbs three. And then the two timers are. Oh yeah. Read Lombardi, Tom Flores, is it there? Your guy, Jimmy Johnson. See for one too. Mike Shanahan, Coughlin, Parcells, Landry and Shula. It's really nice. That is a bad job by mail, Billy. I should know. I don't say 5. It's 13. Come on. Fire me from my own trivia show. "Round. I think I work with Jason McCourty, who is with the Patriots for three years. And he's really getting good at TV Bill. And I'm with you. I'm not just saying that because you're on the show, but he's way better than he was two months ago. I know this. And he's starting to land and he's like, this is more like cousins and Griffin than it is about Brady and Bledsoe. If you're there every day, like, okay, there's two young guys, but this coach, just like Mike Shanahan was like, he's not married to the fact that he was a number 15th overall pick. He's married to what's going to be the best thing for this team. And eventually, in Washington, cousins was the guy as opposed to Griffin who went number two. Also, Jay Mack had his, he had his charity function on Monday night, and Devin was there, but so are all the Patriots players that I'm like, give me something, bro what'd you get? And he's like, I want to talk to Mac. He's in good spirits, and he didn't bowl because he didn't think it would be a good look for him with an ankle injury out there, bowling. He's like, but zappy was there too, and like zappy, he's got a little bit of this, howdy doody thing that the guys are rallying around and like the guys are like, oh, zappy is the man. So both well liked. It's all positive. I don't feel like there's anything negative, and they like each other. It's gonna come together to max going to get the job back. Mac, don't make mistakes anymore. If you make a mistake, we're gonna start the other guy. So this is on you. Just don't make mistakes because if you don't make mistakes, we're gonna beat most of the teams. And the defense is playing well and they've got all those guys named Jones. They've got like 7 guys named Jones and the defensive backfield. It's amazing. And they're all good. First of all, it's panda Jack. It's Marcus Jones. Jonathan Jones. We got three Joneses. Three jokes. The defense is fast, and I think after that second buffalo game, really both the second and third buffalo games, but especially in the playoff game. Where they were just slow. And then it's like, how do we fix this? We need speed. And they went for speed on both sides of the ball. The fact that they had strange is good. And they're O line. They can all those guys can block. People will see it on Monday night. We're teasing the paths. I'll give you two choices. Okay. Bengals falcons, which solak tried to talk us out of because he likes the falcons. Maybe not to win, but he thinks that's a bad match at the Bengals, have some run D issues. Okay. Do that. Or we could do the jets. Against

"Prominent voices that co host of NBC Sunday Night football prime time TV's number one TV show for 11 consecutive years. Chris collinsworth, Chris, welcome to the show, sir. Man, 11 years is like, where did the time go? It's been unbelievable. Actually, this is, I think my 14th year on the show and 11 straight years now or ten straight years is the number one show on TV. So it's been a nice nice little run here that we've put together. Well, Chris, I mean, look, we dinosaurs remember with clarity, your epic Super Bowl matchups versus the niners, your unbelievable 260 yard game versus Baltimore back in 83, but most of Gen Z knows you as the face of Sunday Night football on the voice of Madden O 9 ten, 11 and 12. So I think for our audience, what I think we'd love to hear is if you could reflect briefly, not just on your professional on your collegiate accomplishments. I mean, how do you kind of redefine the wide receiver position at University of Florida? I mean, I mean, am I right, a young Steve spurrier was your coach back then? He was the offensive coordinator and actually Mike Shanahan was another offensive coordinator there. Oh, wow. Mike Shanahan was 26 years old. He came in there. We had not won a game the year before when O ten and one. And Shannon comes in. He's 26. And so after the games, he'd want to hang out with the players. So we take him out to the bars, and we wouldn't get carded, and he would. So to give you some idea of how long I've known some of these people around the league, but yeah, spurrier was amazing. Just one of the most creative offensive minds and I actually started out as a quarterback there in Steve's for your came in, watch me throw the ball one day and I became a wide receiver the next day. So it gave you some idea of where all this has led by my claim to fame, I guess, at the university of Florida was in my very first game that I ever played against rice university 9 yard touchdown. I threw a 99 yard touchdown as a quarterback, which has become like the greatest trivia question. Who holds the NCAA record for the longest touchdown pass and you literally would have to go down 27 million people before you got to my name and so if you know any answer to that when you can win any bar fight. Chris, I got to ask you about some of the big themes that will be top of mind as we begin this new NFL season and I can't stop reading about deshaun Watson and how the NFL and the Players Association have finally we should agreement. We understand it will be an 11 game suspension without pay, a fine of $5 million and this mandatory evaluation by behavioral experts with some kind of treatment program. Who comes out of this looking okay, who comes out of this looking bad? I don't think anybody comes out of this looking okay. It's a tough day for the National Football League and deshaun Watson, it's just disappointing. I have to tell you that I did not see this coming. I met with deshaun Watson, a lot of times and I actually had made the comment that out of the top ten kind of guys in the league. I would have had deshaun Watson on my list. There was a moment in time when there were hurricanes and Houston or something happened flooding whatever it was. And there were three ladies in the worked in the lunch room. Obviously didn't have very much at all. And all of them had their houses ruined. And he, if I remember the story correctly, gave his first paycheck ever for those three ladies. And I remember what an impression he made and so this is one of those that we all make mistakes, but this one fits on the high end of the mistakes and so you hope that deshaun Watson through all that therapy and all the things that he'll be going through can get his life back together and move forward, but for the National Football League, there's nothing that any of us want more than to bring women into the family, right? Whether it's NBC, whether it's the NFL that that's the greatest, the growth potential for the National Football League, the more and more and more that we're seeing women involved with football, whether it be coaching, whether it be officiating, whether it just be as fans. And that's a really exciting prospect for all of us. And this is a setback. I mean, there's just no question about it. It's a setback. And I think it's a big reason why you saw Roger Goodell and the NFL want to maximize the penalty and yet what they also didn't want to do was land back in court. And so they go back in, they reach some kind of a settlement, but to open this football season with this kind of story is not what any of us wanted. One of the big players this season. And I'm speaking as a fantasy football junkie, just like Damian. If you don't have Jonathan Taylor, as you number one pick running back for the Indianapolis Colts, you know what? You obviously had too many beers. Second

"And my grandfather had so much loyalty to the organization but because he saw thought so highly of mike shanahan. There was a part of him. That thought. maybe. I'm gonna go to denver with mike shanahan when he took that job because they saw through such a similar lands in he ended up staying in san francisco but all the core things that kyle's build in that program on a lot of the things that i think we stand for. It's amazing how much influence that has on us. And how many realize what a small network of people it really is. 'cause that's really why i got a chance to interview with mike. And kyle was bruce. Allin brought my name up but then also when when my grandfather reached out to to coach shannahan he said hey i got a grandson and if nothing else you know. He said hey. Well if he's like yours if you're like him we'll go and bring in and let him compete for a job but like the amount of just layers in the different connections that we have. It's it's pretty eerie and it sounds like I ask for those things from the niners too and they didn't say yes that kyle. What the hell not kidding. You know what's funny though. Peter is his kyle. He they had done such a good job in atlanta. And you know this has been publicized or whatever. But in a lot of instances you almost get punished for doing well in the playoffs nowadays. Sure you know. And it's like the further you go because of the way that it's kind of structured the last thing that the carousel almost well. Yeah it's crazy. Because like i actually got some advantages because we lost and basically a play in game our last regular season game and so when you get hired while kyle it was semantics where he kind of knew he was going to be the niners head coach. But you couldn't officially announce it and he's focused on winning a super bowl. Well in the meantime what are we doing. We're putting together a staff. We're doing some things you're getting a chance to get. you know. Access the coaches that are looking for jobs. And it's amazing how that kind of played out where we both went through it at the same time but you realize like the success that they had in atlanta when he's doing his thing it it actually forces you to kinda start You know a little bit behind everybody. I saw the same thing with. Zach taylor a couple years ago in cincinnati and it but but to kyle's credit you know san fran that was their guy. They knew they wanted him and and he knew exactly what he wanted to. And i think you see that thing come to life with the vision and and why the ball's men writing san fran. The whole process was miserable and tough. I mean i went into a very open heaven for interviews because i grew up around the head and watched my dad and i just i knew i was so adamant that i wanna take take the wrong job And i'm just so glad that i felt that way about san francisco and they felt that way about me But of nine. It's not like the other three teams offer me So san francisco one enough or if wanted to vote that way. I wanna to jail and who knows what happens next year. You know. so that's why it's a tough league and that's why a lot of people you know as soon as you get that opportunity sometimes you never wanna look back because at opportunity doesn't always come again but i also there's a very fine line. That opportunity comes in you're in a bad situation in a might only be one year just because they never get it again. So that's why. I watched guys goes to the same stuff i watched. My dad go through in a workout and i watched it not work out in washington. And that's some of the stuff. I've learned that. Have so much respect for coaches and people like my dad. People like bill check. People like sean but you gotta realize that they're also fortunate like did not. Everything's gonna play out that way always and you got to believe in yourself. You got to believe in the people around you but you can't just be obsessed with the results Yes all i think about is when a super bowl and trust me. I don't need to sit here and tell you how much east of me. But he also you can't make decisions chasing that 'cause it's a business isn't guaranteed as a team sport. There's fifty three people on the team. There's twenty two moving objects news a lot of variables..

Um Wasn't entirely comfortable with the offense that the offense was Uh, how many phrases constricted. Him and their ability to throw it and make big plays. He also felt like late in the game that the staff just sort of said okay. Do your thing and win this game, And he did that. More often than not right. This is a quarterback that mean the Hall of Fame quarterback that is forever remembered as You know, being able to bring teams back and win games. I think there was the you know. Then there was this story line between Dan and Mike Shanahan course. Mike's first year with the Broncos was 84 years, the receiver coach. Then that he was promoted to be the quarterback coach, Ultimately the offensive coordinator and at one point Dan accused Mike of Basically scripting plays with John. And not letting Dan know what the place were. And the relationship at that point was so bad between John and Dan. That you know it put my kingdom In an interesting position. So Mike and then Dan Fire Mike So you can. You can just imagine after Mike went to San Francisco On Ben had a chance. I mean, he was offered the job in 93. Turned it down because he didn't wanna be the guy to follow Reeves because of all the stuff that had happened. Wait. Philips took the job for two years. And then had Boland. Reach back out to Mike and I do think there were consent. I know there were concessions made the second time in terms of having authority to run the organization and salary cap in in all of it. And those were not necessarily things that pad agreed with when he offered the job to Mike in 93, but it worked out, didn't it? You can imagine. You can imagine between Mike Shanahan and John Elway how they felt. Leading up to Super Bowl 33 facing the Atlanta Falcons, whose head coach at that point was Dan Reeves. You you could just imagine. That must have felt so good. And what a relief for John Elway. When you gotta go. You have a boss that Doesn't seem to like you or you don't get along well with maybe it's bad chemistry or whatever. Maybe Dan Reeves just had a different vision. But what a relief. Once he moves on that Elway knows Okay down my my time. And boy, was it ever The rest is history. Back to back Super Bowl championships. Is that remember Wade Phillips? Did he have a like to 18 8 seasons? They weren't bad with Wade. They were not, uh I think I think he was 79 and eight. Nate. Okay, You like 500? Ft. I think I think that's about what it seemed like. It wasn't horrible, but they had a lot of talent on the team. And you see what happened was they brought in Mike Shanahan game changer. Get the contact number three. Oh 37138585 Interesting story. Today we We talked about this a little bit earlier in the show kind of got away from us, but Crush you. A lot of people making a rather large deal. About President Biden. Being overcautious in his mask, wearing Even CNN. Um, asking Senior adviser needed done. That very question because you see President Biden Walking off of Air Force one walking it away. Still, he's still wearing a mask. And so they asked him to see it and asked her did CNN Why is why isn't President Biden been following advice for the CDC? And her answer was, you know, we do take some extra precautions for him because he's the president of United States. Seems like a regional answer, but I also think it's a reasonable question. Now that the CDC has said, I mean, if you're vaccinated and you're outside, you do not need a mask. Yeah, I think I think the problem with the optics is that people look at that and go well. Wait, so we're supposed to get the vaccine. So that we can get our lives back. On Here's the president of the United States fully vaccinated. Everybody around him is fully vaccinated. And he's still wearing a mask. I think it It's not good for morale for people. To see that and also makes people not want to get the vaccine, which is the main point of it. People go. What? Why should I get the vaccine? When you still have to be this careful that the president Is gonna wear a mask at every opportunity, and I did notice too. He was on a zoom call with world leaders last week..

"It's time for this date in Super Bowl history. Let's go back to 1995. We're going to Miami, Florida and the San Francisco 40 Niners against the upstart Cinderella San Diego Chargers on January 29th. 1995 Steve Young collected his first and only Super Bowl championship as Super Bowl M v. P. The Niners ran away with it 49 to 26 to claim their fifth championship of the eighties and nineties. Here's the call down and supporting on yard line. Young Mr gives it or face it deployed, then throws the waters who breaks the company tackles and there goes Ricky. Ricky Waters wide open. No protection. No brother. No pass rush on Steve Young. You can't He took out a good blow there. You can't miss tackles against the 40 Niners. I just can't do it. Stanley Richard got a shot on Ricky Waters. You just can't miss tackles downfield. That was Al Michaels, Dan Dear Dorf and Frank Gifford on ABC with the call. Niners. 49 Chargers 26 Steve Young had a Super Bowl record six touchdown passes 24 of 36 325 yards. Mike Shanahan was his offensive. According to that day that landed Shanahan, the Broncos head coaching job, and That game was out of reach. Real early was 28 to 10 at the half. And remember that Chargers team felt also like a team of destiny, Stan Humphries. And married but and junior say out there were a fun team. They made a run through the playoffs, but they just ran into a historically great team, and I remember One of my lasting memories of it, Woz. I was in high school at the time, and I was doing some some non paid work. Volunteer work for my cable access television station. Right. Would, you know, do some TV stuff and be a producer? And there was a sports talk show a nightly sports talk show on the cable access, and I was a guest that week Or maybe I was just Behind the scenes or something. They asked me what I thought about it. And I said, Well, I think the charges keep this thing close and don't be surprised if they pull off the upset, and it ended up being one of the biggest white washes blowouts in Super Bowl history. It ends up being Steve Young's only championship. This is the years where the Cowboys and the Niners would meet in the NFC championship game, and everybody knew whoever won that game would win the Super Bowl. And they just were so much better than everybody else that came out of the A F. C. Whereas you remember this game January 1995 on this date today, January 29 I do I do Well. First of all, the F C title game to get to the Super Bowl is one of my favorite games of all time, even at eight years old, If you remember Neil O'Donnell, the Steelers had a play, I think inside the five on fourth down to win the game, and it was an overthrow and junior say out of the defense led the way was a dramatic win..

"McNair's first Bob, and now his son down this path. And his buddies with Nick kissed Cirio, and it's causing the whole thing. So there there's a Texans great today that's telling Shawn Watson You know, stick by this thing. You want out? Stand your ground. So Don't think that the Texans are willing to deal Shawn Watson at this point Even for this dish on Watson approved trade. Where would be him going to Miami and two and a second round pick in the future first round pick? Going to Houston. Tonight. The number three pick, but the Texas pink are the Dolphins pick the following year. It's gets so confusing because the Dolphins like own all of the Texas tropics. Don't think that the taxes I think the Texans hang on for dear life. I really do because it's highly as I think of to, uh Just You know what you have in the sun wants in and you know, it's great. But it just feels like a long is this Jack Easterby guys around It's going to cause rifts. And the more I read on this store or even more. I think back to that time in the late to thousands when Red Bearup was around the Denver Nuggets, and he wasn't supposed to be a guy making decisions, but because of how empowered he was Beiste and cranky You fell. The conversation was that he was involved. In some high level decisions. And then we know what happened with the Nuggets. Towards the end of Carmelo's time there and they consolidated power. And it was Josh Kronke, followed by Messiah, Jerry right underneath him. And away. They went, but I know just Like the football people make the football decisions. Okay and related. Bring it back to the Broncos for a moment. You know when John Elway tried to and this was reported by Woody Paige But John Elway tried to Make overtures towards bringing back Mike Shanahan because he's like this, Vance, Joseph guys a disaster. I got to get out from under this guy. It was reportedly Jo Alice, who's like No, We're not bringing back my Shanahan because him and Shanahan had beef. And I got to imagine not to Take any of the blame off of John Elway. But if Joe Ellis had such a problem with Mike Mike Shanahan. Don't you think you would had a little something to say about Kyle Shanahan couple years or a year prior to that, when the Bronco's were deciding if they wanted Kyle Shanahan or they wanted advance, Joseph for Some of the other guys. They were Considering It's always a bad thing. When the non football non basketball non baseball people are making Decisions and Jack Easterby, by all accounts is not a football person and I'm not talking about like you have to have played in the NFL to be a football person. I'm saying you are a personnel guy, or you are You're just hired to do football decisions, and I don't know that. That's what Jack Easterby was brought in. But he wields this. Power within the organization and people inside and outside of it just don't understand. Why he has so much say and Apparently, a lot of the poor decisions have been made by the Texans. Can be traced back to Jack Easterby. It is DeAndre Hopkins says. When Dre speak Liston. 5 to 29872 when we come back the Nuggets are taking on The Nets tonight, Kyra. He's not playing. And his whereabouts are Guess unknown by most people. He's off the grid, but he popped up for a moment. Theo be in a picture of himself partying without a mask on which is led the MBA to launch an investigation. He's not playing tonight probably won't play the rest of the week. But with this investigation, it's it's become bigger than just Kyrie missing a couple of games. We'll talk about that and I have my bedding picks for tonight's game as well. We've gone into one, and that's not polio kitchen how awesome he is. So if you want to talk about that 5 to 298 72 In a sit down interview with Who else might cliffs. Of nine news in Denver, Joe Ellis. Has said he is not going To seek an extension to his contract that he is going To walk away from the Denver Broncos after his contract expires. Which will be some time after this. Next. Caesar. Same is when John Elway's Runs out so This. Brave new world. This bold new direction that the Denver Broncos they're going to go into its coming Just not right now. And we get so fixated on John L and deservedly so, like Oh, you want me to sit here and talk about stadium naming rights for three hours a day like we're going to talk about the team. But there is no doubt that Jo Alice and John Elway Hand in hand arm in arm side by side. Have brought the Broncos to where they are now. Relevant bordering on Laughing stock. Joe Ellis has helped out as much. As John Elway has, and let's not forget. Joe Ellis. The I don't get I don't interfere with football decisions. Was the guy that put the kibosh on bringing Mike Shanahan back when John Elway reportedly had some conversations with Mike Shanahan. About returning. And I can only imagine the prospect of Mike Shanahan coming back and watching Broncos games. Maybe what Joe Ellis to be to voice his opinion about potentially hiring Kyle Shanahan. Who knows? That is hearsay and conjecture by Myself and no one else. But it truly takes a team effort to take a once proud franchise and run them into the ground. And that's what John Elway and Joe Ellis have done. And so, yes. Abroad, a new day and Broncos country will dawn. Just not soon enough. And while the reasons for John Elway sticking around Are.

"Yeah, like no, No, no, I think Wilson and and Rahim and get another one get another young when they tried to Michael Hasty. He was tasty for basically hasty, but you can go get, you know, even get one either late in the late rounds or an undrafted free agent the way Bobby Turner's system is, and Shanahan so maybe they're gonna be run first past second and Still like the team. I still think they're gonna be why they're gonna jog into the tunnel next year in right in the mix right into I feel the same way. The way Mike Shanahan, Terrell Davis and a Hall of Fame quarter. See what I mean? Looking to rob? Well, Elway in those last years was not Elway when he was when Max and handed his most winning Elway. Yes, he was good, but he wasn't running before. He wasn't 87, John l Well, why wasn't no Dr John Elway. It was the run game and go looking after Terrell Davis copes. He had five. I did the stats for a jock block. Once during the they have five different 1000 yard rusher. Is that you some? You've never even heard off guys they had He did it with very effectively with with with a lot of different 97. Elway was still pretty good. Pretty good. Yeah. 76 3600 Passengers 27 touchdowns 11 picks Give me Jimmy G's 97. I know the game's different to 97 now, but just for fun. 2019 Jimmy G versus 1997. John Elway's understand by here. Look at this sector. 2019 don't know where we got 97 Elway against Brown versus Elway rating number, but I always wanted to ask myself how does he stack up against 97? Elway? That's right. Okay. You know what I mean. Jimmy Jimmy last year had more passengers 39 78 Jimmy last year away in his 37 37 year old Elway. Yeah, I don't know why we're doing it right. He was a Hall of Famer, but I mean, we were comparing the Shanahan's and I went, Yeah, but he also had, but no, but Shanahan's best teams. Elway was not He wasn't nothing more L Waycross away when I was, Yeah, he's best. Well, give me some more. You're cops on 20 different landscape. More passer friendly now going by the age of 37 year old John Elway completed 55% of his passes. Where is 28? Year old Jimmy Garoppolo completed nearly 70% of his past. Also different different game is different. You have to compare the q B r r rating. Just fun. Give me s r rating. Rating on Elway when he was 37 87 the year they won the Super first year the first year. What was this rating? 30 87.5. They were not in Elway driven team. They were not. It was. It was a run team. Then what was what was 102. So you know, Right? Probably, you know? Hey, listen, I've already stated my case. Nobody wants to hear it. I mean, I'm back. "Well, what have you You know those quiet times would have you thought about, um, the organization and any decisions that might be coming in the off season. And, frankly, you know what has As a tile. And John told you have they given you any assurances that you will, in fact be returning as the quarterback of the 40 Niners in 2021? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I honestly haven't put too much thought into it. I You know all those things get sad at the end of the day. You know I'm a 40 Niner. I'm here to play quarterback. I'm here to be the quarterback of this team and Every day. I go out there and try to prove that to my teammates and my coaches on at the end of the day. That's what really matters. So You know the people in this building. I love them. I love every one of them is just like I said it before. It's a great group to be around Jon Kyl. I think they've talked to the media and said what they've said I I love those guys for it. So it's some Yes, This is what I want to be. And I love it here. Jimmy, you've had the kind of said And watch. Ah lot of this season and I don't know I'm not sure. On Social media's much his Children. Something like that. But you know, you should know where. Of speculation. You know, recording, Ashley dropped this guy or they should trade this guy and that should trade drop below and I mean very competitive. But does this kind of as you think ahead to next season? Get your competitors is? I don't know. Keeping more going just what's gone into this season and the conversation around you? Uh, it's more so just not being out there with the guys with the injuries and everything that that's my main motivation. I mean, honestly, all the other stuff is I You know, people are gonna talk that says it's kind of I know what I signed up for and everything when I became a quarterback, but Just, um you know the people in this building it is what I really care about people just dumb them around every single day. Just die. Yeah, that's that's what I really care about and all the speculation gonna be out there. But at the end of the day, you Scott do your job coming to work every day. Come with him coming with a good mind set and we got a lot of guys with that mindset, and it's fun to be around. You kind of answer this, but your teammates Shanahan talk a lot about how you're the same guy every day. No matter you know what's going on. But with all the criticism with the injuries, you ever have your moments where you're just like this kind of sucks. Absolutely. Yeah, I mean being injured, you know, prior my career never really had injuries, so didn't really know how to deal with it. But it's kind of one of those things that it comes with The comes with sport, I guess, but you just gotta do I have to do my best to prevent it and do whatever I can in the off season to get my body, right. Tol handle the whole season and just, you know, get my mind right in that way. But, yeah, just the motivation that comes with the injuries, though. It's something that Is I unlike anything I've ever had. Just, you know, you're not out there with you guys out there with the teammates. It's um as a quarterback. It's really hard and I hate the feeling. I hate very helpless feeling. But at the end of the day, I just wanna be out there. My guys battling on the field. Jimmy I looking back on when you return from that ankle injury. In retrospect, Do you feel like you came back too quick. I? Yeah. I mean the first time. Yeah, yeah, the first time just like I was just saying, I think I went two weeks without being out there. And it was just something that I don't like that feeling didn't I wasn't used to it. And, Yeah, I just want to be out there with my guys. And you know, maybe I rushed him. Maybe I didn't. But I wouldn't. I wouldn't change it. Jimmy in 2018 when you when you had the knee, he did some things in terms of working with Mike Shanahan a little bit and some of that stuff, but also you were still kind of new to the offense. You didn't have a whole lot of games on your belt. How different Where was it going through it this year in terms of your approach while you weren't out there just did what you could learn and what you are trying to gather to to make yourself better for next year. I was pretty history. Cool being up in the box. I would have the call sheet with me trying to go through plays and I No, just mentally being in the game as much as possible talking tow guys who were up there with me about the game, and there's little things that you could do that having been injured for this most of season. I had a lot of time up there, so we got to figure out some things that could help me in the future and tried to make the best of situation that wasn't along Those lines. Give me that camera during games with sometimes find you up up in the stands next to George or next. Oh, Richard Sherman. And you seem to be jotting notes from time to time. Um is that part of the call sheet? Is that something different? Where did you pick that up, and then? You know, sitting next to Richard Sherman, his knowledge on defense. How valuable was that to have that inside probably in your ear during during the game. I was actually just about to say that I sat next to Sherm, especially these last couple of games. We sat right next to each other and Really tried to pick his brain just in a casual way, You know, but at the same time it was. It was very Very insightful. I mean, sure, he's a very bright guy obviously knows both sides of the ball and just talking. You know, a schematic scheme. Whatever it is I He has a very interesting outlook on it. Honestly, I told on this side yesterday at the game I was like, Dude, I've learned so much. Just in his last couple of weeks of talking to you because there's a quarterback you know you you think you know, defense is and you think you know what they're thinking. But now you talk to a corner. He's been doing it for so long. It was. It was very insightful. I learned a lot and Share my shares my favorite teammates have ever been with. He just die. All those guys you love to be around love his attitude, love how it comes in every day..

We've got to wrap up this week and one of the interesting things that came out this week and we talked about this a little bit earlier with Ian Rappaport here on the show the Dolphins finding out that the guy who could ride in to save the day is not gonna be available to them this week. Ryan Fitzpatrick testing positive. It's an interesting dynamic that's been going on there in Miami. The fact that to a has done well, but there's already been a couple of times and Brian Flores is called on Fitzpatrick's come riding in to save the day. That's all That's strange spot for a guy to be in like this, Patrick. He's handled it well, but moving forward. Obviously, you know, are they gonna be able to do it without having their safety net? They're gonna have to do is find a way to do it without Ryan Fitzpatrick. You know, it is interesting that you have a quarterback that's selected, you know, Top five in the draft. And when he gets into games he gets that did it into a rut that they tend to want to save him with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now I understand what Brian Flores is thinking he is trying to solve which wins, so you can't be mad that He comes in and says, Listen it first. If you know if two was strongly I'm gonna put in this Patrick and try to at least salvage that win and then get back to our next week so his his philosophy is not It hasn't really, you know, it's a little flawed because you you're not allowing the gods to grow and get into situations where you have to work himself out of it. But the doctors were knocking on the door of the playoffs, so obviously it worked. Um, but, you know, right fist patrons. Not there. The two of us gonna happen. Find a way to display a full game and understand that even if they're down by 17 points, he's gotta find a way to flip that switch. And come back and try to save his team. You get to a situation where you've got some teams that are out there that have already, you know, wrapped up whatever they're going to wrap up. There's nothing specifically to play for in week, 17 and some starters end up getting arrested. You get that extra little charge. Summit say, Do you take the Momenta? Muay? What's your feeling on that specifically for a final week of the regular season? Wow. This guy is great question, because I've been in both situations where and 1996 we had to buy and we rested. Right guys. Uh, too long. And we end up losing a Jacksonville and the divisional round and we just never got our mojo back. You know where 13 in three. We just never got it back. We had lost it, and we just figured we could flip a switch. This doesn't happen That way. Also was on a team that we had to play for the playoffs and we had, you know, he played everybody from, you know, Start a season. Always throw it and we have won a Super Bowl on then we did. It is sick. The second Super Bowl where we had the number one seed, we couldn't rested players what we did. Mike Shanahan said he learned his lesson that he would never rest players again because he felt like we lost the edge. So here's what I would say, though, if you are an experienced team of veteran team who has been there? I don't know. I don't think I have a problem with that. If you're a young team, and you don't know what it feels like to Get a bye and rest players. I would say, try to keep the players sharp..

Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs

"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

Aaron Rodgers 'Glad' Packers' Joint Practices with Texans Over

"Go to the n._f._l. Let's start this in green bay. Packers and new head coach matt leflore and aaron rodgers not on the same page early in camp. The coach likes can't likes camp likes working out with other teams. Here's what aaron rodgers said said about doing a joint practice with texans. I wouldn't mind if they didn't do it for another fourteen years and then he said that the offensive work is of great value because schematically. There's not a lot there and he doesn't like the risk of injury. Is this just one of those things or is this a real problem between rogers and the floor. Take it or shake it. Take it real problems. Take take take it though she sleep but i think when you think when you think about what i said the other day about out joint practices. It's a no no. No one wants to do that but coaches then only ones you. There's there's nothing to gain from it. The iran tell you 'cause. Let's coaches are stupid. He just do stuff. They just day or stupid. I told you this the other day and raja's comes out and basically backs up exactly exactly what i'll say it. No one wants to do that. You risk injury. You're getting no real work at all and it is going to be a power struggle for this young head head coach and matlock floor in aaron rodgers. It's going to be a power struggle in math going to have to cave in or else. He's going to get fire yeah. I was just gonna say if you're a brand new head coach jay first time head coach and all of a sudden you gotta go coach your first team as the head guy that's one thing you've got to be the head coach of the green bay packers with a hall of fame quarterback. Who's in the meat prime of his career. That's a totally different thing different. Yeah it's different because ann rogers is also different. He's so cerebral. He's so questions every think think anyway. He's not just gonna go to get him on like other. Q._b.'s wills so you know skiing on the walls though skin on the wall. What do you mean it meaning matlock floor. Oh if you if you were dealing dealing with coach that came in and mike shanahan or bill parcells done something that has some skin on the wall the aaron rodgers with baal down where if there's a guy like sean mcvay say the world gets up into shining face their push mcvay a smart enough to realize that i need him to produce some let him do what he needs to do. If he's doing what he needs to do in his positive then we're gonna be okay and if it's negative it's gonna follow him. I've done everything to make him a better player. I'll keep my job. We'll get rid of him
