"U._S. Olympic team because you were one of the great stars on that team during the five game Olympic tournament you've added four twenty nine with three home runs and eight R._B._i.'s what what was the big difference in playing international competition and in the Olympics s compared to say playing college game or or even a minor league game. You know what it was. It was really interesting. I mean real interesting because you know you're you're playing against guys that are playing for their country to and <hes> and you know we we we got along well with some of the other teams that we played against but at the same time you know we were out there trying to trying to beat up on people so <hes> it was it was interesting. I mean a Lotta Fun but at the same time <hes> you know it's like as we're going out there and do our thing here for us. Did you enjoy the experience or what's the lasting memory you have that big experience. I I love the Olympic experience. There's nothing like there's absolutely nothing like going out there and play and while you get U._S._A.. Written across your chest I mean it is it is absolutely one of the most fun things I've ever done on a baseball field and if they ever happen to do again I jump right back in the middle of it. I mean <hes> uh it was it was a lot on a lot of intensity. We get a lot of travel and all over the country but at the same time we had fun you know I got to know you when you were with the giants here and you had the nickname of will the thrill and yet I never knew where that came from and I've heard two stories one by your classmates at Jesuit High School in New Orleans and the other is by Bob branly on which one is true the Bob Brennan story is the one that's true <hes> Bob branly and in Mike Ruko spring training of Nineteen eighty-six they <hes> they concocted it and it's not a stock you know what I mean Ryan really well and it stuck in it ever since that First Major League at Bat which was April Eighth Nineteen eighty-six some people may not no but you hit a home run and you hit it off of Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan now. You're a young rookie player. You're stepping into the box the first time and you're facing a future hall of Famer. Tell me how you approach that at Bat Mentally Mentally <hes> and you know I know before the game I had asked <hes> several of my teammates how he pitched them. <hes> especially Chili Davis because Chile was a left handed enter and <hes> you know I got some insight in talking to you know the other players I got some insight as to what actually look for what part of plate I should look for it and stuff like that and <hes> he actually did me a big favor. <hes> first pitch I walked up there <hes> first pitchy through a purple and <hes> you know it was a strike and I just backed out the baddest boxing I was like I said you know that's just another curveball..

"Hard. Would you put it top three towns in the bay area might be number one, given the location everything offers the shopping experience. I mean, what what would you say? Well, I mean, we may have to have two different categories. You can't put San Francisco, San Jose. Yes. What biggest town under three hundred thousand lock that's stolen, Petaluma, California. Palo Alto, California. Now upscale to danville. California to upscale walnut creek. The pride of Santa Rosa, Rosa, all good cities. But I'm just loyal to my soil. So also, I gotta give to paulie we talked about this yesterday off the air, but I went to a concert yesterday by myself. Lhasa's said it would be it would be fun. And was I right. If it was a good time. Yeah. Different. It was an artist called juice world. And it actually, well, I got kind of screwed because I bought four tickets three and my friends bailed. So what do you do? I wanna watch the warriors. But it's so I love to have got to see about thirty minutes of the show, and then came back where was the show Bill Graham and it worked out because juice world is on for thirty minutes. And then you guys ski masks just slump God came on. So I left for that. The second part. He missed the slump God. Yeah. This piece of rejoin that's assuming he's wearing ski masks out there. He was imagine. So was it was it a positive message for the kids? Yes. The like if John Lennon did a show in a ski mask citing doing these days. They're up there in the language was clean and neat. Yeah. Clinton need a positive message. What are we today, buddy? Okay. And then hour from now, Mike Ruko. Well, that's no fun. We're gonna bring it down got hammered. They coffee there. Bumgarner tonight to end the homestand one. In four in the homes could use a good Bumgarner outing actually really could eight o'clock. We'll talk to a rockets friend, Matt Thomas, they go. He's going to say time is usually pretty fire. And he he comes right at us. I'm looking forward to this one say the series doesn't start until the road team wins. Which by the way, is like one of the most tired supports phrases ever there. You can never write this script in Hollywood. I hate that line. I kind of liked the road team winning one. I do go ahead. Okay. Okay. Eight thirty Matt maiocco. It's complete bull s and then a fifty daily dose. Doses. As a guest, right? Well, we have some vets right? A message buddy needs to say something. All right. "So there's some kids literally two times or three times his size. So he's playing second base. And he's a little guy. He's made a play in these pre walk a couple times. So now they're in the last inning and the deal in this league. If you screw you can use score you can't school more than five rents. So they have a five run lead and the whole time that this this this year started kept asking, hey, dad, can I pitch? I wanna pitch grandpa can I pitch? Well, then we haven't let him pitch, you know, he's still a little scrawny and whatnot. Anyway. So now the inning starting to go against them in the point where you know that the teams can tie. You just don't know how it's going to end in a tie. And also manager coast time he comes in. And here comes the second baseman. So Cohen gets out there, and you can see all the drama is is the very first pitchy through two offered to play. Well, and this is warming up. Yeah. In any make the plate. It was like eight feet wide. And the next one was another to hop. And each time. He'd look overdue his dad, and he was nervous. He was scared to death. So they gave him eight throats and the last one he finally threw it towards the plate, and it almost got there, but it bounced at home play. So then here comes the batter and this kid is hitting off from his one hundred fifty pounds. So the kid gets in their voi- and the very fish pitch. He throws his a perfect strike right down the middle. And he he fist pumps it. And I'm sitting there watching this guy going, you know, what I think that's that's has a lot to say about where these young man because he's fist pump and the first strike that t-shirt. Yeah. Yeah. That's classic man. Oh, man. We'll tell you. What I this is the second update. I want more totally opiates, man. Did you know we don't talk about how the at bat ended. Well, he wound up hitting the ground ball and kid made a play run scored in the next guy up. Walk. And then he hit the last guy. And then the game was tied. Barry. Still the game is over. He came up to me. And he was being he was just beaming because he got to do what grandpa? Did it was so cool. That's great, man. Alright. Let's let the journey begin. I can't wait for more. So keep us posted on that. So good stuff. Hey, just around the league, Mike, we asked. Jeremy I felt about this yesterday before we let you go because it's fun baseball chatter that out if you saw that Reese Hoskins Mets reliever Ramos his name situation where rained through it his head twice. And then Hoskins homered and took a thirty second tried at his head. Yeah. Did you did you see it in your reaction from both guys perspectives? Throws somebody's head's an idiot. And that guy should be suspended for two games to me that was light. And and you can't. Reese Hoskins is one of my favorite guys watch. Obviously, the Sacramento kidding. We kept a close eye on him. And he's having a great career. But the last thing that guys all about is being showman and showing somebody up, but when somebody throws your head twice that is an invitation to crawl around the base pass. And he did it was like thirty two seconds. And I loved every second of it. And that's you know, it's so out of character from him. But again, you know, he felt that this guy was trying to hurt him. And when that's the case, you know, he that guy's lucky that Huskisson go out there and just pinch his face because he had to be right to do it. And he could have done it. And this was his way basically showing him up after the guy threw it said twice. So I loved it. You don't go guys heads, and I hadn't seen. He was suspended for two games and fine. So good stuff. Anyways, wanted to get your take on that the much happier story is the fist pump from Cohen strike one. So we'll take that energy will go into Bumgarner in Paxton tonight. Dude left. He's going at it. Saturday's J hap- against Derek Holland. It's a day game one. Oh, five Yankees. And then Sunday, it's well, it's windy. Derek Rodriguez against Herman Marquez or pardon me pitch. And for the have the wrong name. We'll move on to that Derrick Rodriguez pitching on Sunday wind day. So should be great Mike should be a ton of energy in the yard. We're glad you're back behind the mic, and we'll talk to you Monday. Hoops chopped off eb. "Leader or happened. Earlier this morning on with Murph and MAC and Bonnie, Jill man. Mike ruko? Stop by ready for the giants wrapped up a little too games set in Toronto Kabila's favorite role. Go forth. Mike. It is not often that he's giant team. It's obscured by game in the bay area. But that's exactly what happened last night four bombs. They get a win every happy, and then the sharks pull off one of the most exciting finishes in the history of barriers sports. So my that's that's our lot in life right now. We've talked to little about Samara in the homers a lot about the ice. Good morning, Mike. How are you? Home runs for the sharks. Scored four goals. That's a sad to keep the right there. That's really good. Congratulations. The sharks. That's just a miracle win, and we were all turned onto it. It was just you know, the game is over now. All sudden magic happens. It was just a pretty believable. But yeah. It was fun. Watching the guys. I mean. Getting small yards and hitting all month. And what a difference a makes so much to get into. I wanna start with Pablo Sandoval. You know, I think you can flat out say he's their best hitter. He went three for four last night, and he had a bomb, and you know, he was DA ching last night. Which of course, he will not get to do when he comes back to San Francisco, but I'm just wondering if you're Bruce Bochy is there a way to get him in the lineup even more. And right now, he user sitter. And yes, you know, you're gonna start playing. I mean. On into twenty and me as good as he's been defensively and whatnot. You know, when you're scorned in this when you have a bunch of guys go cold, you do things like bring a bench player out. And you sit down the team scoring runs and Salem is not hitting where you can hide them. But right now, you can't hide anybody. You know, you're looking for whoever is going to bring an opportunity a chance to get you hit and do some damage damage is what you want and there's nobody used consistently doing damage. For the most part the benches pinch hitter. So they're gonna start looking for ways to put him in play first base or third base? Okay. I in third Pablo looking to get in. And then the other guys, of course, longoria did Homer last night. He's third. So I mean like you always say major leagues about competition. He sees Pablo doing he knows he's got a he's got to step it up that was at least one step in the right direction. One of those swings last night. He did punch out twice. But for longoria to leave. The ARD was a welcome sight, Mike. Oh, absolutely Bill to twenty and he's under that he's like fifteen to sixteen or something. But. They have to do some damage. They can't go out there. And they can't be doing the, right? They got hit the ball wall. And in there just isn't that much intimidation in the middle of right now. So whoever is going to show up with with with some cloud with intimidation and has the best chance of doing damage. You know, it's going to be those guys. So. Agree with you. I mean, it makes you better you've got competition these guys, and these guys have all been through slumps, and they all the most part feel like they're still going to get their numbers and. Play with the guy with superstar, you know, guy like Schmidt or rose or Buckner or or Williams or Clark or or or or Mitchell. I knew they started off slow in the year. They're going to get their numbers. So somewhere down the line. Somebody's gonna pay for it almost liked it. When they started out cold down the baby you knew their numbers are coming. So that's the way the guys feel they're looking around just bad. You know, you get to twenty you got you know, who will three, and you know, these guys are veterans, and they're all feeling like our numbers are coming. So. I'm gonna believe with them. I mean, there's been too much track record here in the past. So I'm gonna believe with them. But it's getting tougher. And you know, if you're trying to be patient how many? How many do you give a guy hundred fifty batch give them getting close to that? And now you start to your team, you know, between the start of the season June. I tell about evaluation and then after that it's about doing something about it. So these guys who all said coming out of spring training. We have to we have to get up to. They're gonna break up there feeling. So right now, they need to do something about this. They need to do what they had set out to do. And they haven't done it yet. Could panic as deep his first home run in two hundred forty two at bats as June thirteenth two thousand eighteen which is created it. No, his second longest streak in MLB to have a homers in between he had peach. But what do you think do you think you'll get straw, his confidence? Trying to say. Yeah. You know, I think he's a long ball guy. I think a good year for him hitting home runs like six eight. I mean, you know, what what he should be. He should be three hundred or two eighty. He shouldn't be under two hundred is right now, you know, we saw spring training. He was the best bad in the league. He was hitting over four hundred. And it was every bet you never saw him balance. Nobody balls by them. I mean, if you made a mistake up he blistered it, and and he has not been as hot as we saw in spring. More than a power guy more table center than than a than a damage guy. And you know what? What his hits coming? I do. Collectively across the board. Everybody is struggling right now. The only guy who's not as Pablo only guy. So I gotta believe that these guys all have that much that they're just getting getting. I need to see it happen. I'm getting I'm getting Ashy. I wanna see some wanna see some runs. They did last night. But the guy who's just, you know, he's not dominant. He got into the sixth inning. And ain't gets the coveted w that you pitchers love. Jeff Samara Ginette. Two wins firm on the year gets into the sixth innings five hits one. Walk. Only allowed the to Ernie's four strikeouts. Eighty five pitches. Ziara three oh all right now. I saw him hit ninety two on one strikeout, but you're a valuation of Samara Mike as you continue to see him come back from this injury last year. Cutter. I mean, that's his best pitch. Gets his back against the wall. Nibbling? I India thirty inches nibbling. Trust your stuff believe in your stuff. But what he has done consistently since the start of the year. Away with it. But as he goes forth, you know, he's not going to get away with it. Because right now, everything's up location up, and you can pick up with cutter, you can't pitch a sinker. Because it doesn't think you get fade. You get flat movement away and runs out of your pick for pitcher do left handed hitter state runs out to the plate Mets. That's where the barrel is. So I think he goes forth that cutter on hand is going to be a good bitch. But he's going to have to stab us in the eye location with everything else. He's hanging sliders. He's leaving two seamers up. He's gotta get me high command. That's that's what he has to do to absolutely essentially goes for he does that starting up some innings you'll start to see him in the seventh inning. Because I I mean, look, I I don't believe that you need. You don't need him to have ninety six miles an hour anymore. You don't what's more important is movement and location and right now, he's got movement in the news location these improve. So I think he goes for if he if he improves his his location, he's gonna be fine. So you got away with some stuff last night. And as you say stop nebula go at but he did get them into the sixth inning. He likes him getting seventh even there. A Mark Mouland with another effective outing Mikey continues to be an asset. Well, he comes into an existing inning. He comes into two men on. And you know, he gets to the strikeout. A great story. Here's a guy who I really seriously thought they were gonna cut a check to spring training thing. Stop by didn't work out. In the last couple of times spring training. You started see a little quickness to cutter. Bad things. I liked it bitch. And then all of a sudden right behind the little cutter comes scruple, and it's got some Sam there's no role to it. You know, he's got some command of a Dan around the knees. And if he wants to drop it on top of the play when he's had two strikes. So he's got his weapons back. And now, it's just a matter of getting his confidence. And he's got it. Well, we any concern about the Dyson Watson load 'em up granny. I mean, my point seven two two you're feeling great it seven to six you're not feeling great. Well, I mean, that's what you've got to use your lead. And that's the beauty and take you out of it. And as good as has been, you know, it's it's it's unusual to see him. You know, get weird. But then when he does he takes awhile to get back. So every time he goes off. And he starts elevate. He doesn't have as command, and he goes through bad any. Next. I'm going to be able to correct the problem because you know, what the vet has been his track record is once he goes out of whack it's hard to get them back in and regards to watch. Big you're gonna give up once in a while. He couldn't walk him. So you had a challenge, and, you know, Sacramento, kid rowdy Tellez. It's the grand slams shut up to the nine one six there. Mike, would you thoughts of the giants? I jog continues. But not without Geraldo par trying to steal home. I don't even know what that was. Yeah. It's like your heart of serious business. Yeah. I mean, I get it. He's trying to make something happen in the first inning. But you know, but I tell you what the pitcher he played right? That's a play that everybody involved with was was surprised with everybody. The catcher the hitter the belt was up there. The surprise surprise himself. The one thing that made the play sports stepped off the rubber. If he doesn't step off the rubber, and he comes through if your belt, you take a swing. I mean, not a full swing but you make contact with the catcher interference. You know, you take your base where it goes back to avoid the, you know, the the end of the inning. The rudder. He the catcher comes up, but can't do anything. He's got to get the heck out of the way in the throes. Perfect. And they get part. But I was surprised by the play. And I just didn't think it was necessary. Interesting. You're right. I wonder if he feels differently if the giants don't win the game, but they get the win..

Hey BUSTER, there's a lot of talk lately on the podcast about Christian yelich following his MVP year. And it's well deserved. "So I mean, that's all he meets baseball. The wonderful thing about it is you can be a non a complete non hitter. With no clue and no confidence in one day. We will two hits and a couple of line drives. You're you know, you're the baddest man on the mountain. And that's what we're hoping happens to to read it. You know, what I hope it happens with him against a good pitcher? Because the better the pitcher the more, competency, you take out of it. But he desperately needs. He he needs to change that demeanor of walking up to that plate. Like, what was me? I got no chance 'cause opposing pitchers can stay could smell that. They could see it really easily. And but Joe Joe's will be getting a walk, and you should cut balls hard. You know to the shortstop at least he stumped that. So the quality of his at bats better than reads, but they need him to do Skype the trigger in. I mean, that's with all these they see they need right handed the contribution. And that's a big reason as to why they're here. But let's go back to track record in the read it three forty four last year. He did great. He's got these get good numbers and Connor Joey at seventeen home runs at ninety seven on base right around four hundred. Maybe at four hundred. So they've got they've got the credentials to lead you to believe that they're going to succeed here. They just have to get it going. Well, we shall see. And as we know obviously the big league stages. We've learned with a lot of the prospects is very different Mike a little bit on Pablo Sandoval because there was a lot of thought during the last week using a cut and we're thinking, oh, man. No pablo. And yet he didn't get cut. It was like the Lund sorta seemed like the the one thing bocce sorta got his way. And then he delivered that at bat against Chris paddock yesterday that unfortunately, it kind of unusual leather a little break down defensively for him. But you know, your thought on what Pablo can bring to this team. And also just kind of seeing them out there against paddock. Yeah. Well that bad against paddock. That was that was so, blah, blah. I don't know anybody else in the team would have could have an about like he got down to count. Oh, two. And this this guy paddock. Nobody knew he's throwing mid-nineties right over the top pretty straight fastball. But you know, one of the better change up. So we've ever seen. It was really a good change. If he had a curveball. He didn't even need it. He's basically to pitch guy, and they were just not doing much with it. And you got that change in their head. And now sudden east on ninety four miles an hour by like they've never seen a fastball for so it's just. Was a pretty impressive debut for guy affected. That's about as good a debut. While it leads you to believe this guy's is going to be around for a while back to Pablo had he goes up. There are no two whole. And now it gets the Pablo swing mode, and he he was swinging at everything I think after that he he took one pitch. It was a high fastball. It made it a one-two other natty east everything spelled up with six or seven ball the ball that he hit was a curveball drop down below the zone, and it was about eight inches above the ground. I mean, he was just above his ankles. Get full cheeks or did he make one she could do it and he comes down and just hands. Flicks. The ball and hit it off one half of wall center field. That was great that was out of a whole series. I thought and at that time I thought well, we go, you know, that that's that's the kick in the pants. These guys need to have an event like that. So that was this the shining star of the day off defensively. However. You had a rough day. He's usually pretty pretty sure it was a bad throat. He caught a ball. And there was a chance to double up the runner at first base. He had to wait for for belt to get back to the back. He took a long stride, and then recruited took a longer stride caused him to throw high. They move up ninety feet in the cash that run it. And then the other one was runner at first base. And what would have been a double play that in play and even in on the grass at third and I forget who it was hit the ball, but he the ball screws. It was hard aground bought. He'd never go to glove down low enough to be able to catch the ball and catches up. All and it's an easy double play. Now, did and it gets one before we get to the dodgers. And let you go just quick thing on Chris paddock. I mean, the you guys roll that footage from Fox Sports San Diego and the Cowboys. Oh, good. It almost like it's straight out of the nuclear louche where you're this young kid. The Tim Robbins kid with all the talent and coming in with this act, Mike and the backpack. He's got the suit the shades. Ear buds. Cowboy boots a guy allowed to have an act when he doesn't have a big league win until. Yeah. It could be a cartoon if you want and walk in there, and you can catch the eye everybody in that clubhouse. And as soon as you do every is going. All right back. It up. Well, if you back it up, you could do whatever you want. I mean, he met we walk into the next door with that cowboy wearing a hula skirt the berko. Oh, man. All the Bhadra guys love this guy because he backed it up spring. You did it all through able and every start that he had the minor leagues. That's how he would go. You would wear a suit and he put on the black cat. It was hysterically had forty people that came in from Texas. He lives he lives in Austin. And. At forty minutes past listed about half of them of those black hats on it was and they weren't they were real hats. I mean, they were actually spent some money, but. You know, he's there. He's he's the new sheriff in town. So and yesterday you back it up. So you gotta tip your hat tip your big cowboy hat, Mike. I'm looking at the box score here. And here it is jock. Peterson four sixty seven Cody Bellinger, five hundred AJ Pollock for twelve. Keith Hernandez, three thirty three or some power. I'm looking at. I'm looking at the dodgers, Mike, and I'm looking at Cory Seager. And here they come forty two runs in their first four games. I guess a franchise record fourteen homers. I mean, I know that's a little a little nutty. But what how can the giants pitch? These guys. Well, I thought along when they go camping they should drew Pomeranz from number five Star Trek kind of laugh because he was thrown is good as anybody. And then you start thinking well who they plan the fifteen of the year playing the dodgers. So. Ranches very capable of your Simon. And. But you don't wanna take a couple of things have to happen here. You know, they got gotta wake you up. It's up to me. That's an obvious. We all know that. And and then they have to get you know, they have to get the emotional hit. They have to get the big when they do set the table, which is not often again against the Padres. You gotta have that hit the one that puts energy on the bench right now, they're they're a little energy office. And they need big hits to to to fire buddy up. And you know what? I mean, I I never mattered to me where you were the standings or how you were playing when you went into LA. And this is the beauty of the rivalry. The rivalry is something that when you're going bad you need you need that that robbery to make you better. And that's what I expect. It's going to happen. Jackson gonna show up. They're not going to be thinking about mechanics. They're not going to be thinking about what happened in San Diego. They're going to be competing against their rival, and the focus is going to be very very strong. And I think it's exactly what they need right now. Okay. Here we go drew Pomeranz against the slugging dodgers and Mike. We will talk to you Wednesday after two. Games in L A. We'll look for your call. Cuco on came here. Six eighty these sports later. "Sounds damn good to KNB are tonight withdrew Hoffer on the sports leader very much for hanging out with me earlier this morning on Murph and MAC, Mike Ruko stopped by talking about the giants. And obviously the news that broke today with Mike trout the extension with the angels jinxed us all a favor and let us hear some cruch o obviously we'd like giants. But break in baseball news this morning that we can start with with Mike on the gas line and Mike. I don't know if you saw for the morning hope your week's going. Well, it grew Martin and second of all Jeff passengers broke a story about a half hour ago that Mike trout in the angels. The angels are finalizing the largest contract in pro sports history. Another twelve year deal worth more than four hundred thirty million smashing all the records. Thirty six million a year break in grandkids record four hundred thirty million one hundred million more than price. So it's all dazzling numbers. But Mike, the news would be him staying in in Orange County and not going back to Philly and all. That. So all your thoughts morning. Good morning Chia into touch so just excitement as we get closer and closer to breaking out Scottsdale. Start the season. I don't really think this is a big surprise about. But trout, I mean. We don't see him enough. We just don't wait for him to be called the best ball player in the game. I mean, I I wish I could confirm that by having said, I've watched this guy enough to say that he is or he's impressed me that way. Look what the times that. We've seen the giants play the the angels. And Trump spit out their stand, standout, obviously. I mean, you you don't need to be a scout for forty years to be able to save. This guy's legit. But yeah, I think what the angels did, you know, they ensured that he is going to be the face of their franchise and the way that he lives on and off the field and the shape, and he keeps himself in and the ability to have that he has it explains. The whole the whole contract, but. Man, that's a lot of money. And and and to be not only the biggest. The longest, but it's the biggest in in annual income. I mean that that to me is staggering thirty six million bucks a year. Buys a lot of Wheaties. S? So I just think it's great because we're in an era right now where everybody is saying that the salary structure is changing it's swinging for the owners and the players aren't getting their share. Well, this this one is going to do a lot to to bring things back towards the the players, and it does set a precedent. So we'll see if other teams swallow. I don't think you'll follow the tune of four hundred thirty million at twelve years, but hey hurry for him. He's you know, by definition. He's worth it. Oh, no question. Like, you said I wish we saw more wish they would make a run I guess to hop to mind one. But didn't we Scott Boras tried to tell us nobody could sign in California because it taxes, Mike? Well, it's an issue, especially when you have teams that are in Florida and Texas amino to deal with that. And that's definitely a selling point you start talking about equal dollars. But you know, I think you'd get a contractor this size. It basically says cares. I'll pay the taxes. I'm still gonna have some large Bank after that. And I think that's where they're going with this. Pardon me. But that's what I'm saying. It's you know, it's not a deal breaker for some people. So Mike trout said I'm willing to stay in California. It's it's kind of a a refreshing to see in a way to is is I just see the angels. I mean, it's such a downtrodden franchise. The only way you get famous. If you play in October, Bryce Harper hasn't done it yet, Mike, you know. So I don't know. I mean, I know we're not here to talk about the angels farm system or anything. But man, they it'd be I'd hate to see him waste away in twelve years and not get to a World Series. I know this the thing about Ernie banks. You know, what I mean, a great player never gets to the the greatest stage. Looking can happen to twelve years. The franchises. A good franchise. They have solid minor league system. You know, it just it's not that easy to get to the dance. I be we kind of take it for granted. With watch the giants. Do it three. I have a five year spell. But in one hundred thirty eight years of judge history. That doesn't have. But once every hundred years, so it's pretty rare with the giants accomplished and I'm taking the jar. The angels are feeling that in twelve years. They're they're gonna have a chance to get to the dance. But they wanna they wanna wrap up one problem. They know the trout's from from Philadelphia. He's east coast guy. And all this speculation. He wants to go back home just ended and now they can concentrate on the next twelve years, and they know that they're going to be there with them. Yeah. Big time. All right on to the giants. Mike one week from today. The giants will already played the as twice in the bay area. And then they'll play one more time on Tuesday. And then they'll go down to San Diego on Thursday. So we're getting closer and closer a couple of names. Now, listen, this isn't a surprise. But a little bit of news bocce did say Stephen douger is center fielder for opening day. And again, that's not a shock. But it just kind of gives us a chance to sort of ponder either slaughter minute lead leadoff, no questions asked. He's that's where he hits. Well, you know, that's a great question. Because I don't know who the other outfitters gonna be if you go with the with maven centerfield, maybe platoon Duggar against certain lefties, if he plays against certain FTC may slide down the lab, but if he's playing against righties, she's gotta sit on top of one. And I think his speed has everything to do with that. I think when you are a guy that has the skills the Duggar has he's very very fast. She's an extremely defensive player you want that speed at the top of your lineup to set up a lot of things, but that's just to get on base. So his on base percentage. I think to start the season I think it has to be around three twenty five at least and as he matures in this game. And learns the art of leadoff hitting. It's going to have to get up around three fifty three seventy five that's the goal. So you know, I'd like to see them start off at at the top of the ladder. But again, you get them in there against the Chris sale type of the left. Yeah. You might have about slide them down to the bottom of the ladder. So I do think there'll be some fluctuation with that. But for the most part, I think you see him on the top. All right. Good stuff for Duggar. Congrats to him. Andy Bagley at a really good piece in the Atlantic about his hardship grown-up losing his dad at a fairly young age and getting really close with his mom and his sister. And this is a life. Streams come true for him. I'm looking at Bally's stock up and stock down guys, and he has on his stock up to relief pitchers, and it's not sexy to talk about relief pitchers that lefty Travis Bergen the guy that got from Toronto and on a rule five. And then righty. Trevor got who they got from the Washington nationals, and she has both of these guys make the opening day roster. Mike, absolutely. They've been fantastic. And you know. Bergens a rule five dot came over by. We have a trade. So they have a little more flexibility with him. But you know, the left he's gotta stay otherwise he's going to get off your back to Toronto. And they're gonna scoop him up as quick as they can. I mean, that's the one thing about having too much talent in a franchise. You can't protect them while you'll forty man roster. So you know, he he slipped through the cracks giants jumped all over. That's a that's a great Farhan dig, and he's been brilliant. And you know, everybody wants to see him pitch more four strikeouts yesterday and having a two-thirds that's great stuff in the left. You can come in and strike out. Not just let these but. Right. He's that's that's a lefty the pops out and he's a guy. So I mean, it tightens everything up. It makes it makes the decision a little bit a little bit tougher for for Bruce bocce and becomes an interesting story, but he's earned the right to go north and whether or not he goes, we'll we'll see. But I think the fact that they want to keep them. And if they don't take him he's got to go back to Toronto. I think that helps his cause. Yeah. I like them now on stock down is a big name. We haven't talked about him. I mean, Mark Melanson he's having a bad spring. And there's a chance I'm reading, you know, if they got rid of him if they released and they would eat twenty eight million dollars. Okay. That's easy for us to say, especially with ownership. I don't know how the Larry situation affects the decision of the boards to eat this. But by by comparison, Mike the angels wants eight seventy three million when they released Josh Hamilton in two thousand seventeen seventy six one small by comparison Bagley points are that far Han didn't sign Milan-San. So he doesn't have the same emotional attachment. And some of these guys we've talked about are coming in to take you know to get out. So there a real chance you think he doesn't he doesn't make the squad. Well, there's definitely a chance for me. Ask about three times. And were he would give him a little more room? Is that this stuff was good? Lawsuit was good cutters. Been around ninety one which is what it has been. But the times that I've seen them the three times the only one time as cutter been quick. So the finish on his stuff has not been impressive. And then I think it has everything to do with him getting hit he may be out of whack a guy who's been around as long as he's been is going to be given the chance to to fix himself mechanically because when she your mechanics, that's where you get your finish. That's where you get your little jump and for a cutter you need that last that last late Luebbe that sets everything up, but I haven't seen it consistently yet. And I don't think anybody else has Sierra today is in the eleventh. So they've given every opportunity every time because he's only gone out there one time where he hasn't given up a run. And that's that's a concern. So I do think that there'll be a little more patient. You know, he has options they can send them out. They could they could it could do. Couple of things with them. But as far as just cut them a check and saying thanks for stopping by that also is a possibility and then in that becomes a story. So we'll see what happens. We'll see for. Sure. And then on a much brighter note, Joey Bart got the Barney new June award given to sort of the camp MVP or the guy made the best impression. So I mean, Mike, it seems like every time we talk about him. It just goes up and up and up and just wondering the latest after having seen him, you know, and him getting that award. And and all that. And just your thinking far Hans said it's not out of the realm to think that he would get called up in two thousand nineteen. Well, it depends on the health of the guys that break go north. And I totally believe that he's offensive is hell, he's got a great swing. And and you just take a look at the areas in the strike zone that he covers and drives. And I mean, some of the great hitters in our games. Mike schmidt. Gary Sheffield, they were great and away. Hitters Roberto Clementi. They were great down and away way. Hitters and Bart Scott that type of coverage compare them to those type of guys that's quite a compliment. And I've only seen a small sample of what he can do. But I've seen him take that ball down and away and absolutely smoke with backspin over right fielders head now that is rare that gets me excited..

"Well fan fest is Saturday. Paulie, MAC singing. I'm dreaming of a white fan fest with the snow in the Santa Cruz mountains, and let's get us this morning, but Mike Ruko before we get to baseball. And I know that the McGowan family didn't want like a lot of media coverage. But I don't know if there's anything you can just pass on to us about Peter mcgowan's memorial service yesterday. They said it was elegant humorous, sentimental, beautiful and held at his favorite place in the world. The ballpark in China basin quarterback criminal pretty much. Good morning. You guys. Happy Super Bowl weekend over Monday or Tuesday, rather. But yesterday was spectacular and the and the way you described it was exactly how it was. A lot of tears are. There is a lot of laughs. There was a lot of emotion. Just. And those beautiful the. The way they put it on which is spectacular. And. Sauce sitting there listening to these stories about Peter and debt, they made us all smile. I mean, he was just such a great guy. And how he touched everybody thinking. You know, we talked the other day about him being a visionary. Do you know what he did? And the one the one thing that just became abundantly clear during the ceremony yesterday. Was you know, he was visionary. And he created this dream for all of us, and he delivered he delivered. I mean now that you guys can say that. And that's really way while we all love the guy, and it was a great day. And then he was remembered beautifully and will always be remembered beautifully. Yeah. I mean, we talked about it last week excessively in it just can't be enough. We can't ever not keep remembering what he did for the city and for giants fans. And and I'm so glad that yesterday was a beautiful remembrance for Peter McGowan now Peter would probably say guys can we talk about the team, Mike? It's Tuesday, February fifth fanfare. Is saturday. And it's not just the giants Bryce Harper and Manny Machado is quiet out there. Don't. Yeah. Let's start with Bryson. Manny Mike Gary was saying to us yesterday in the face off. Maybe it's one of them wants the other guy to sign I that the other guy can get more money. I don't know what I and you've lamented many times the state of the baseball marketplace. But where are you at now here we are in February? Well, I mean, I think those guys are perceived to be similar in their marketability. And I don't think that's the case. And I mean, that's just an assumption. We've all had I think that you know, it's all going to have before spring training. So it's it's all rapidly coming to ahead. We're a week away for pitchers and catchers and. So I think one of those guys who's gonna sign, and you know, what you never know. I mean, would it be something if the giants got in on wouldn't it be something I've been sitting here. Reading and listening to all the things that four hundred ninety it said, and he said he is going to approach every deal larger small, and you know, what I'm taking him for that. I mean that that to me means an optimist. But to me that means he's kicking the tires everybody. And that includes the two big guys. I mean, that's been something we've been kind of kicking around a little bit in mystery teams out there, and I tried to wrap our brain around Bryce Harper in San Francisco, Mike you park about in right field for X number of years. He'd have to deal with triples alley etcetera. But I mean, does this kind of fit what you think salary wise they have a lot of salaries they have to deal with. But it doesn't matter. You you go give this guy. What I don't know ten years three hundred twenty million or whatever it takes and just park them out there for the next decade. Why don't even know if it's a ten year deals even out there any more for anybody? I think that was once offered to him by the nationals. I don't even know if that's that's viable. So we haven't heard of any offers outside of that one for Bryce Harper. But you know, I mean if it's auto or Harper, I'm you give somebody big they're going to have opt out clauses. They're going to have a three year window or five year window or a two year window. So I mean, it's it's not gonna be a slam dunk. Contractor. There's going to be a lot of ingenuity and out options for them. So, but I don't know you just we're going right into to Saturday. And I mean, you know, how Larry bears he likes to make a splash at the luncheon. And maybe you know. Who knows? We all pay something's going to happen. I just think it would be very cool. That would be okay. Well, we'll keep it on the table. And at this point, Mike, we'll we'll believe anything because nothing's happening anywhere around baseball. And it's just been totally baffling. We contrasted it with the NBA Mike where just the rumors are just fueling that league's popularity all the time. Where's Kevin Durant gonna go? Where's Kyrie Irving gonna go? Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans. What will the Lakers trade for him on and on and on? And it's like major league baseball kill for that kind of buzz. But they can't generate it, do you know, what I actually think it's a good thing because last year was horrible for free agents. This year has been even worse. But baseball has always had the great hot stove. It's always been talked about. It's always kept it in the paper. And I think when the two sides get back down to negotiate the next basic agreement three years, I think the owners are going to want to do something to bring that back. I mean as much as I perceive the owners to be winning in this. Last basically agreement and I basically think they kicked the players butts. I don't think that they're happy about it for that very reason. So I think the the positive on this whole thing is when they sit down again. They'll devise a system that's a little more favorable to free agents. And because it's important. It sells baseball sells tickets. And I think every team saying the same thing, we're not selling tickets. So why is that baseball's not it's not a son front page page seven right now at best. And the only story they're running is all these speculative stories that are just BS and fans are tired of nobody's even read them anymore. So I mean, that's that's devastating. If you're the marketing guy for all these clubs now cook the rumors that the giants are pursuing Jacoby ellsbury. He didn't play at all. Last season is best these one thousand eleven do you see the giants possibly off letting big contracts? I know they're hearing possibly Klay toe. Cueto's not be you know, late summer. In August September. If there was going to be a a deal that would bring Jacoby under the giants family. It would have to be a dump it has to be an exchange. You bring in a contract, you dump a contract and whoever's going to be I would have no idea, I don't perceive him anymore. I think he's too fragile and best you'd be a platoon guy. And I don't know which game. God who does? So I don't know. I mean, I think you know, again, we get back the same thing for a lot of tires. And that may be just exactly what that is. Isn't that funny about Jacoby ellsbury second in the MVP voting in two thousand eleven injuries injuries injuries? Right, mike. Yeah. He was a great player. And he was fun to watch you know, and he was a cuff at bat. I'm you think back to win. I forget, whatever. What whatever you're the Red Sox when he was a big contributor. I mean, he was excited. I thought that the deal was a -rageous, but. Justified by his by his brilliant. So if there's any if there's any percentage of that if there's if there's seventy five percent of that in there. I mean, you can still be a serviceable player, but I don't think of everyday guy anymore. Okay. Stuff to talk about FanFest Saturday. But as we go around the baseball too, I'm looking at kind of headlines around baseball. This one's kind of a weird one, Mike, and you know, just because it's fun to talk about instead of just waiting for a move. But it's depressing ESPN announced that is not going to have baseball tonight anymore. That's crazy as a corollary. They had a weird deal. They actually fired one of their employees. Adnan Virk who used to host. I guess he released the details of that also announcing so I mean, that's sort of a corollary story in the guy's career. But Mike is not good. When our beloved sport baseball isn't getting coverage on ESPN. You know, why because the mail channel is so good. I mean, they've kind of taken over the the niche, and I'm sitting here right now, I've got an up check it out every morning, and and they keep your current. And it's it's all baseball. You don't have to share that channel with any other sport. So I think baseball fans of figure that out. ESPN? They're pulling the trigger that they're not the ratings are bad. Boom. See you later. It is a surprise. We heard this last year. It was going to happen. In fact, there was Dave Flemming that mentioned that you know, this. This is an issue that they're not as popular he didn't say they were going to bang. You just said that the ratings were is good and the reasons for it, but it's a changing world. But we do have great coverage. Yeah. Yeah. You know, we've got an on NBC sports bay area. We've got great coverage there. So if you're a baseball fan. Regionally or nationally? You still have great coverage. Yeah. Okay. Well, in fact, I just put it on thanks to you. John sterling on the on the hot stove show with Harold Reynolds Methodist Gershon right now. Mike, you mentioned flam. We didn't get a chance to shower a little love on day Fleming's extension for years. And of course, you know, when he came on. He was the new kid in town. And we were like who's this kid? How's he gonna last? And here he is. Now, he's part of the family, and he gets four more years. So I think giants fans love that stability, and they love their voices and old flames. He didn't go national on us. Mike, he stayed with us stayed home. Well, I think smart. Dave Flemming, one of the brightest people I've ever met, and and one of the most gifted broadcasters. It really is hard to to try and figure out which is his favourite or best sport. Because he's so good in basketball and football. I'm a little biased baseball, obviously. But. He he looks down the road, and you know, John and Dwayne and I are on our late sixties, and he's. He's he's no fool. He is going to be eventually the the number one in San Francisco is wife just in the three kids completely nested in the city. They love it here. So to me, it's not that big of a surprise. It's a relief because in the back of my mind. I always thought what would it be like if you lost this guy, be horrible? And so that's a great news. When we we celebrate yesterday and Jake David just ripped the memorial. And we were talking about it. And it just feels good that it's all wrapped up, and he'll be doing a few more games that he's been doing starting not this year. But the year after I believe a great. So that's a good thing. That is a good thing. Mike is we've been you've been amazing a stalwart every Tuesday and Thursday, and they Steffano moves in baseball. You're amazing how you can entertain us. And we've had no move. So one of these days, Mike, we're going to have moves in. It's going to be a bonanza of radio, man. So enjoy the MLB channel. Enjoy patriot. The dog and Mike God knows what Thursday will bring. But we'll talk. All right. We will be. We will be here. We'll be talking to. Oh. By the way, congratulations to Jillian element. "Now, it's Murph and MAC on Cayenne Biard, six eighty and streaming live at k MBR dot com. You guys ready for another Boston party there? They are look up their Bonnie jail. Paulie MAC on just took it away. But I mean, I thought. Morphou though, we were gluttonous with three and me asking for a fourth. But I mean, these guys now with six of them in the past nineteen years, whatever or you mean to in the last one hundred days in that city. That's true. Oh, that's right. So add Boston Bruins, excuse me. Add that one Celtics Inada of a few Red Sox. It's like a parade every other year over there. So tweet yesterday somebody said a four month old child right now is more in Boston seem more championships than all forty-five-year-old jets Mets fan we should count them up real quick so six so they're six with the pats walnut. The Bruins seven way. All one since they since the patch won their first Suzy's, but this this century. So we got six pats. Hor Red Sox four Red Sox. That's ten and now you've got one Celtic one Bruins. That's twelve championships. In look we've quietly had six we have rewires three giants. That's not bad at all three calls, and we've been all the parade and Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith drove in one of the to actually Murph. If you think of it in those terms, if you look at all the sports, I would think the bay area has got to be second only to Boston in that same period of time. Right. I think so one of the city would would have six I don't think 'Second. I think we're seconds bad. I think we're second. I do. Yeah. NBA Spurs San Antonio. No almost seven if they would've given a pretty sure we're second. If they were in Frank gore that would have been seven. That's the elephant in the room. That can I say was the by the time we got to the two thousand fourteen parade. Were you just slightly jaded not at all? I have to confess not that. I didn't enjoy it. I'm not ripping it. I'm just saying I've done this. I love the fourteen one. Actually, that's the one more think we on the air. That's the rain in the truck with that. Yeah. We had all winter gear on Scott in the truck. Yeah. On time. How did he get up on that truck? That you guys might be in knowing a flatbed truck freight to flatbed train, you're doing the show. Greenman at each other. Screaming ads where were you during the parades? Were you on the streets? Were you? What were you doing for twenty ten? I got I got there at like six thirty in the morning and mistakes of city hall. Routed, and I talked Murph and actually discussed this last week the Mike Ruko you to your to your family goosebumps right now. Good book a giant space. Mike cocoa's extemporaneous speech on the twenty ten city hall steps is one of the greatest extemporaneous speeches. I've ever seen in my life. I will say Murph, and I just got the chills just thinking about it. I just did is that the ten one was there was nothing like ten unbelievers. We came down new Montgomery that day. And that was. Came down new Montgomery stink. Getting chills again signs here about deceased rail like mom and grandma stuff, you know. Yeah. Yup. And just people in trees, people and windows standing on cars. It was unbelievable. Right here brother Camby ours. Oh boy. What are you gonna do? So we just had one eight months ago. What are we complain by it? I do still. Yeah. Maybe the warriors need. I don't know. 'cause Myers is saying he doesn't expect any big acquisitions by the trade deadline. Maybe just go pick up Zaza for team chemistry. Clayton. Go back and forth. Hey, just for the heck of it. Get us ready for FanFest. You can dig up at some point a good chunk of crew goes speech from twenty ten like, not just the two seconds. Give me like a sixty second ninety second. It's that kind of we're getting to that so bunny. Joe, welcome February sports talk radio. Okay. Wants the Super Bowls over. It's like we just start poking around the dark corners that we do like any super fans greatest parade reviews. And of course, we will be at Pebble Beach later this week. Trade deadline is Thursday. There could be some which by the way. And I'm glad you brought that up.

"And the thing we didn't get to talk to you on Tuesday was about the non-roster invites that went out. And and so they did enjoy BART's on that list, and Sean Anderson, and then some interesting outfielder, so we'll dive in Mike Moran. How are you? Yeah. Good morning. Yeah. I think you're absolutely right. Peter would like us to talk about this year and the upcoming. Version of the San Francisco Giants, so. Yeah, the Stewart. So did you check out the roster? I start Joey Bart this guy. I mean, we're all jewel, and I gotta have a bib on my talk about this guy because everything all arrows point up on this guy. Just give us your interpretation or your in evaluation of what it means for him to get in. You know, I think I'm prefacing preface this by saying I don't think anybody expects them to make the twenty five man roster. But what would what does it mean for Joey BART's career to come to Scottsdale and locker, you know, next to BUSTER, Posey, etc. Etc. Well, everything I mean, I mean this one thing about being catcher. I mean, the thing that they need every spring training. They need guys that can go down there getting a squad and catch catch pitchers. So it's for a young catcher to get to camp and just strap on the gear. In the clubhouse. Oh, what the rhythm of the day is like, you know to get around. And and see how relaxed big bigger czar. Find out how they get ready for season. See what they do off the field what they do before workouts? And what they do after workouts. You know, and. I mean, there's a whole culture about baseball that you have to learn more than just learning to get thrown catch. I mean, you've got to learn how to deal with the press. I mean, you've got to learn how to learn what the good restaurants are in Scotts dice. Yeah. I mean, it's all part of of the education. But for a guy who has that much promise. I think it's invaluable in the point you make about him being able to hang with BUSTER emits. It's it's priceless. Yeah. No doubt. And Mike, I guess far haunt is known as a guy who leans towards bringing guys up earlier rather than later, and I'm not saying that's going to happen with Bart. But what's your view of that just philosophy? You know, bringing a guy up quicker rather than waiting longer. Well, I think it's fantastic. And and we've seen second over the last several years, I know that whatever's coming first camps. You were seen and not heard. I mean, you're threat to a veteran. He was that. Overly enthusiastic just to give you. College and education that will help you along with your career. And that's completely different now has everything to do with the amount of money that that veterans make it allows them to be a little more decent with some of the players the generation that comes into camp. Now, we're seeing a lot of players all the way through the organization we'll play. There's so many more games are so many more be games. Or so many more opportunities for your minor league players come in get reps. Get it batch play in front of the big crowd. Get relaxed learned how to deal with you know, with playing for a bigger crowds get into the clubhouse and then make friends make acquaintances and the Senate such an important thing is that during the course of regular season teams are forced to go into their minor league system because of injury. And the new rule was a ten day disabled list. You see a shuttle between your minor league system in your in your major league system, and when your minor leaguers now are getting the big leagues you want them to get to the comfort zone a lot earlier. So they can make contribution. You know, get get some of the of the shine off the big leagues, you'll get it to where you can with it when you can handle the rhythm of it. And and a lot of that has to do with these guys coming into spring training and and getting their feet wet. So it's it's become invaluable is become a strength of of your organization if you can get more players in. But that's not gonna change. It's only gonna get better. And I think it's a great opportunity for young players now. Mike have you had a chance to read Andy Baggies breakdowns of the non roster invites or no? Absolutely have. He did a pretty good job. I'd recommend anybody who subscribes the athletic to check it out because you know, just the name like Sam wolf who? Oh, they got him in the Matt Moore trade, Texas. He's a twenty seven year old who had some pretty good intriguing numbers and then had a torn achilles tendon and a forearm strain. But fourteen punch outs in ten innings in the fall league. So okay. Yeah. And then obviously, Sean Anderson the guy got in the Nunez trade who I think right now, they're top rated minor league arm, which is both good news and bad news. But you know, what I mean, Mike are we it's time to start looking at these guys because sometimes guys are like Ryan Vogelsang they come out, and they and they make the club. Absolutely. I never believed in. In the richest man for minor league systems of always thought. Well, how can you possibly read a whole a whole minor league system? How could you possibly have seen all these guys enough to have a creditable opinion? I've always doubted when the giants have just getting rigged over the coals for having a minor league system that ranks in the bottom five percent. Because every year you get to camp. And you see guys who are physical who have who have good arms. They just need. They just need to need this need to get coached up. And and I think that'll definitely be the case this year. You're going to see how your system is to me. That's the most exciting things about spring training. When you see these young young arms come in. When you see this catcher coming when you see this middle. Infielder come in. And you start to see his mother. It's a whole different era. Now, I mean now that is there and his advisors and his evaluators are there. Big done, some homework and they've gone out. And they've got some rule. Five guys have got some other free agents who have been invited into camp this year guys we haven't seen. So I'm really really interested to see what type of athleticism there is within the minor league system. And every year. He gets surprised every year, you get there, the coaches who's impressed. You who do you like, and they'll tell you three or four guys just right off the crack of the bat, and there's not always the same guys can differ from coach to coach coach. But that's one thing about bring training for all of us who have gone down there and giants fans would be always talk about it. They look forward to seeing the youth, and they not fully look at it at level. They go down into the minor league system, which is just a couple of blocks away from still stadium. And they take a look at some of the the prospects that are coming up. It's an exciting time. It will be this year. Again, it really is. And that's not to mention the guys who are actually on the forty man guys like Melvin Avon and pronounce his last name is Travis Bergen the cat the guy they picked up from. Toronto. I believe in the rule five. So some interesting dudes who are already on the forty man to Pat van de and all those guys. So and Mike had anti Bagley on Monday, and we're looking at the outfielders and the giants invited a couple of intriguing minor league power guys on the non-roster. But in the meantime, it's the guys we know man Duggar Shaw Slater MAC Williamson, adding the new guy drew Ferguson the van the Astros. But we asked Andy we said handy like given that Stephen Douglas the only guy with a job who are the giants starting outfielders on the roster right now. And he said his best guess was. No, there are two names who will be on the opening day outfield that aren't even on the roster right now. What's your what's your evaluation of? That prediction. You agree. I do agree. I think they're gonna make some additions to the forty man roster. But still the pitching staff. I think there's a lot to be determined before the judge get to camp, and you can. You can share that about other the other twenty nine teams as well. I mean, there's a lot of free agents out. There's a lot of good ball players that are out there. And I think the giants are gonna make some some ads, and I would be very surprised. I look in regards to the Duggar. He's not guaranteed to be an everyday player. Okay. I mean, they may platoon him, you know, you still young. And so there's a lot to be determined not just in the fuel but on the bench and in the bullpen the rotation. I mean, there's there's a lot of things to be decided this year for the giants and camp staff are Mike always love talk. A little baseball gets last two items for let you go on the way out one. Do I see on social media that you have an incredibly awesome new dog in the house? Nice. Yeah. We do. He's he's three years old. A a yellow lab. His name is patriot into. He's changed my life. He's absolute changed. My life. The canine guardian a little company out of Napa found an animal for me into. He's a it's. My wife, and I we got married forty four years ago. And we've always had a dog we lost. Our our golden last year in April and not having a dog and really my situation. Have a puppy. It was just really not a realistic expectation, but. You know, I it the dog came around, and and I was very fortunate and we're just enamored with animal. So the patriot. He's he's a good one. And these our lives. It's dogs are amazing. And once again, we have a great animal as a follower of yours on social media. I can't get enough patriot on Instagram and all that man. I want more. I want him sacked out on the couch. I want him climate in your laugh at the giants led to. He's a gift. That's how we look at. It was asking me bringing him up. That's the beauty of social media, man. I saw that. I said this cab a new dog. He's he's looks pretty pumped in a he ain't no he he's he eats. Well, patriot. Right. Yeah. The first week. We had him on my God. I mean, he's he's a counter surfer. That's one thing. Nice. Natural Mike next day. A. Sweet potatoes. These guys, you know, what Mike we got to. And it's like man, if they get a they hit the whole like Frank gore, and I was so Candice after we watched the d'etre tests on the floor and Mike. Hey, man. They're just doing what comes natural. They're just doing what comes naturally. He was bred to eat. That's awesome. And then given that in east changed my life, and it's awesome. Very very happy given that he's named patriot. Does that mean we have our rooting interest on Sunday or no? I'm rooting for my teams. I love the Niners. I love the bears. Eagles. Those are the teams that I played in those cities, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Francisco, but I've always liked quarterbacks. And in this particular Super Bowl, we've got to from northern California. I love what Tom Brady has done his career. I'll be wearing a Rams jersey. I know this upsets forty nine bands. But I'm wearing it for one reason number sixteen Jared Goff. He's he's he's a giant Spanish guy. Yeah. I wanna see him win. So I'll be having that you're saying call in his old man was a National League Montreal Expos catcher, Jerry Goff. So you know, you guys might want to you guys might have crossed paths a couple of times. So that's good stuff, man. Awesome chat. Mike. Enjoy the heck out of the Super Bowl talk next week. "You I love that. The giants broadcasters because when by the time you get to the World Series. The national guys are doing the TV calls. So the radio guys they split it up. Got to do ten flam got to do twelve Miller did fourteen now keep in mind. Miller's called. Final calls of the World Series when he was doing and stuff on ESPN and everything. So really cool the way that they delineated that out amongst each other and gave everybody a little bit of shine time. It helps when your team does your solid in wins three World Series titles at five years. That's pretty cool. Yeah. We were talking a little off the air. James? You made a great point though about kite, man. Oh, yeah. One of the few if only ex players that does play by play most players, you know, they do analysis, you know, or color commentary kype is it not. I mean, I think he is a fantastic play by play guy. We never lost him the national the national stuff. I'm glad he stayed local because a great Nash or a great local announcer. Like, we all know, it's why you tune into the game. Sometimes when the team leaves one hundred games, you wanna hear those guys tell the stories. That's right. And I mean, the last two summers in particular have been tough in like you can hear it like that these guys care and because they care about the fans they care about the players in the organization. It's not like this overt Homer. Is where it's like, you just can't listen to it. You know as long as its objective analysis to you know, to a certain degree. I don't mind like tar catering to your target audience. I get that. But just don't be over the top with where you have like total blinders onto what's really going on. I listened to. I'm not going to say any names when I listened to some of the other broadcasts as far as like when they had him on Facebook and whatnot. And it makes you realize how good that's good play by play guy can make a game. It can add so much to the broadcast for sure a lot of people checking in on the text line six five O says, Vince, gully and lawn. Simmons are. With that 707 says Bill King, John Miller and Mike Ruko nationwide way too. Many good memories in my seventy five years. TV changes announcers more than they need to. Well. I mean, I think you know, look a lot of these guys have been doing a long time. And you know, you get some of these younger executives and they want to reinvent the wheel. And you know, you got to find the next fresh face the next big time voice. Yeah. The face. You just said that HD camera gets serious wrinkle, you're outta here. John madden. And Pat Summerall when HDTV dropped damned them. Dudes are old. Remember Bob Costantini Olympics. A couple years ago with the rampant pink. I look I it's tough because you know, we're only human and guess what humans are flawed. I mean, I I happen to be one of the ones. That's not. But you know, that's how it goes. So it's tough when everything has to play out like that in HD in everybody can see your every last blemish a lot of people checking it out, Ryan Kobe. Let's. To Kirk and San Francisco, and when we come back from this last break, our we're going to hear some great calls Kirk. You're on kmby are gonna. Great topic experience Cooman. Growing. Hey, we've all giants argue. There was a very interesting. For sure, and that's great. That's a great way to point it out to. It's that you know, there's what what's the criteria? You know, the ability to. Spruce up dramatic moments. The ability to maybe be understated in dramatic moments. And let the pictures tell the story if you're doing television, but the radio you need somebody to really bring it on home and let you know what happened. But you know, obviously, there's the other part of that is when things get a little dole. When things are just kinda Mosey long, especially in a baseball game because we know things get a little slow and baseball game. But having a broadcaster that can keep you engage in encapsulated in in what they're talking about. That's a that's a truly special talent. Just balls and strikes. I gotta go with Greg Papa with the warriors. Yeah. Sleepy. Floyd is ridiculous, baby. Come on. All right. Hey, appreciate it. Kirk. Nice call man. All right. Let's do this. Let's let's take a break that way. When we come back. We've got a ton of calls that we can get to and boy a vigilante put together a really nice list here of some of the best in the biz in their various disciplines. And yeah. We got the nice list in here. So we'll get into that as well..
