"Away with winds. Samurai charm. Listen, I don't know. By first samurai out of a silver charm air, I don't know if that's yay or nay as far as running on a wet track goes and we don't know for sure that the track is going to be wet tomorrow. It just seems like there's a very real possibility of that. But I like the fact that Peter Miller is doing well with his string at Oakland. I like the fact that Joel Rosario is getting abort samurai charm. And I also like the fact that I think she's going to be stalking what seems to be a very hot pace. So not nearly the price you're giving out, Dave, I'm going with samurai charm, you're going with mercy Warren. Both of us looking for the same stock and pounce type trip in tomorrow's carousel at Oak Lawn park. First of two graded stakes on the Oak Lawn card tomorrow is race number ten. It's the grade three $300,000 honey bee for the three year old Phillies going a mile and a 16th. This is a major points qualifier on the road to this year's Kentucky oaks, the winner of the race, assuming they're eligible and they're all eligible. Gets 50 points, which basically makes this a win and you're in race for this year's Kentucky oaks. Another tough race to handicap here, 12 of them going to post in this spot. And the favorite on the morning line is number three grand love who hasn't done a whole lot since she got her maiden win. Yet grand love debuted at Saratoga going 6 and a half furlongs in August and won by more than four almost 5 lengths and since then has faced big fields in graded stakes, the Pocahontas at Churchill downs and the breeders cup juvenile Phillies at keeneland and has run kind of Ho hum so so all right in those two races has shown speed in all three. This is not my type of race. I think there are four or 5 logical contenders. I think they're all going to get bent down. I don't know, three, four to one or less. And I have a kind of difficult time separating them. Number 8 defining purpose for it can make peak was no match for wet paint. Number 7 last time out, but too back facing horses that are running in this race ran a terrific race was the two to one favorite at Oklahoma going a mile and won by 5 and a quarter lengths and that race would certainly fit what paint for Cox and godolphin and flavian Pratt beat a bunch of these horses last time beat defining purpose and Olivia twist and taxed the fig did not come back enormous, but a repeat of that would be pretty good. And what pain did not have a perfect trip and still won rather easily. Number two tow head has kind of a weird career, right? They started running sprint races and they didn't go great and then they moved to the turf and that went a little bit better with still a maiden 8 races in despite having run in some stakes races there was the race that tow had won, but it was declared a no contest and then finally got it together in November at Churchill broke the maiden at three to one and immediately returned it oak on and one drawing off by three and a quarter lengths. So this could be one of those mic maker horses. There's just taken some time, but I think there's a distinct possibility in here. And if there were a price, I said I would have to play four or 5 of them. I mean, tow head and grand love and defining purpose and wet paint. I would need all of them. I would also want to play gambling girl, the New York bread for Todd pletcher and Mike ripoli, who's 12 to one on the morning line ran a good race against Julia shining in the demoiselle back in December. Doesn't have a fig that's probably good enough to win, but I don't know that anyone in this field just jumps off the page and is so much better than anyone else. I would want to play gambling girl too. My top choice is wet paint, but that's a very passive sort of choice. I would play all 5 of those. And I'll fool around with gambling girl just because of the price. By the way, our good friend James Scully gave out gambling girl as his play of the weekend. Last night on the brisket dot com call in show. So I'm wondering he likes gambling girl, you like gambling girl at least a little bit. I'm wondering if she's less than that morning line of 12 to one. I'm going to go really off the rails here. And number ten do do, do you want to dance? Is where I want to be? Do you do you do you want to dance was undefeated in the first three starts of her career all against Oklahoma breads at Remington park. She tried open company at Remington last time out in a $100,000 trapeze was bent down like she was supposed to be a contender two to one in the race. Look like she was in good shape and then completely dropped the anchor around the turning down the stretch. She finished so badly that I think it's a non race. Something obviously went wrong. You know, it could be something as simple as she swallowed her tongue during the race. I don't know exactly what it was. She's had a barn change since then. It goes from a high percentage barn and carry craddock to Dallas Stewart, who's not having one of his better years, but I think that last race is a non race, and to be honest, I think her previous start where she went a mile at Remington park is good enough to at least give her a chance against this open company in the honey bee. So I'm going to try to light up the tote board with number ten. Do you? Do you do you want to dance? Figuring that that last start is just a non start, if that race was not on her page, she would be much lower than 20 to one. As far as I'm concerned, that race does not exist. I'm going to try to blow up the board in the honeybee. 11th and featured race tomorrow at Oakland park is the grade $2 million rebel for the three year olds going a mile and a 16th. This race is 8 points qualifier on the road to this year's Kentucky Derby. The winner gets 50 points, which virtually guarantees him a spot in this Kentucky Derby. We've got a very strong field of 11. I would normally say when I see the entries for this race, Dave, that you get the 50 points if you win and you're eligible for The Kentucky Derby. The only one that that would have would have encompassed as far as who was pointing to would be the former Bob Baffert trainee reincarnate,

"The story neglects to mention that Calder was also once a CDI property. It's now going to be used by Amazon. My question would be, and this is probably a dumb question. What would people in Kentucky do if they decided to actually sell Churchill downs? Yeah. I don't know. This is one of those stories I just kind of hate for everyone. I hate for fans Arlington park. I don't even like this for the bears. Soldier feel this classic. I don't want the bears to move. It's just, you know, it's not as though we didn't know this wasn't coming and it's not as though these plans have been hidden, but it just kind of leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Theoretically, there is a chance that the bears could turn around and develop this for some other kind of racing. Obviously, they'd have to get a racing license. So supposedly even if they wanted to put a stadium in there, it would basically take up only about half of the acreage that they got. I wouldn't, those of us were racing Friends. I wouldn't go holding our breath, that this is in the plans of what the Chicago Bears are thinking about doing. But those of us who love racing and have actually had the chance to spend some time at Arlington. It is a track that certainly will be missed even in the later years, Dave, when the racing product was not as strong and it was the synthetic track with a lot of cheaper claiming races, the facility was still spotless and one of the best in the country. Yeah, I mean, one of the tracks I grew up with bay Meadows closed. And there's just no coming back from that. I mean, I still love the racing at Golden Gate fields, and I love going to Saratoga, Santa Anita, del mar, keen under wherever, but when one of these places closes, they don't generally open somewhere new and we all have great memories and it's just, it's not ideal, but we've come to understand that it is part of it. And you know, I mean, I never go to LAX without thinking about Hollywood park. And I never watch a rams game or a charger's game without thinking about Hollywood park. And as much as I like football, I like to better than when those teams were not in LA or played at the Los Angeles memorial coliseum or what have you. But I don't think this story is going to end well for racing fans. Well, three things with that. First of all, any time you used to fly into LAX, you'd fly right over Hollywood park. So you could see it. And it also meant that you were about 20 seconds away from getting on to from landing at LAX, but you had a very good view of Hollywood park. Second of what you're saying, I think a lot of football fans feel the same way and certainly people who live in San Diego would much rather see the Chargers not playing at SoFi Stadium, they're still mad that they don't have a team anymore in San Diego. And you spoke of bay Meadows, I was just looking the other day. I have a picture of lafitte pinkeye and me standing next to each other for a picture in the bay Meadows paddock before the el Camino real Derby in 1987 that he won a board masterful advocate. So a lot of memories, marlington, a lot of memories from bay Meadows, a lot of memories from Hollywood park, sad to see some of our good friends from the past go away. All right, let's look to little more brighter times. And a huge race tomorrow on the road to this year's Kentucky Derby is the grade two risen star, three year olds, $400,000, a mile and an 8th on the main track at fairgrounds goes as race 13 on their card, a full gate of 14 was entered and Brad Cox is going to have a big say as it seems like he does in just about all the three year old races this year. He sends out victory formation who tries to remain undefeated. And this is essentially a win in your in race because it's a 50 point qualifying race. I looked at this race kind of long and hard and I'm not sure I love victory formation, but if you don't like victory formation, if you don't think victory formation is the winner here, you're going to have to use a bunch of them. He just simply has the best resume. He's the only unbeaten horse in here. He's coming off a dominant stake swing, he looks like the deserving favorite. When I handicap this race three or four days ago when I initially went through it, I said plus two 50. If this horse is 5 to two, that would be reasonable. And the morning line comes out at three to one, I think victory formation is the most likely winner of the race. I can tell you there are several others that I think are reasonable to fills for Larry revelli. I thought ran reasonably well behind instant coffee in the le comte last month, silver heist for Steve asked me to sin the debut was good. Last time out, I thought ran a perfectly fine race against several other horses in here, including tappets, conquest who is another Brad Cox horse that horse finished just behind determinately, who I thought was good in that race as well, but did take a long time to break his maiden. I'm interested in Todd pletcher's horse crappy number 12 who is a maiden, but I thought made a big, big jump last time from a fig standpoint, isn't that far off? 15 to one for Mike ripoli and Vinny viola. I'm gonna use crappy in some sort of way, but I think victory formation is the most likely winner. And I'm not sure how you could think anyone else is more likely. You can like someone else from a value standpoint, you can bet on someone else in a variety of ways. And it might not be a bad idea, but I think victory formation is pretty clearly the most likely Victor. Yeah, victory from race definitely has a big shot in this race. And I'm going to use him on all of my tickets, by the way, our good friend James Scully likes number 12 croupy as well. I think he picked him on top yesterday as his play of the weekend. I'm going to go with number 8 tap its conquest who I think was closing well despite a slow pace in front of him last time out. I think you'll get a more honest pace and he showed to me that he can overcome adversity. He runs well pressing the pace. He showed that he can close when things aren't going exactly the way they should or maybe the way he would like them to. He can still run a good race as he did for his second and that allowance last time out. And I think it's 6 to one. That's a fair enough price on this Brad Cox trainee. So I'm going with the other Brad Cox runner, if you will. Number 8 tap its conquest, although I'm going to use victory formation on all my tickets should be a fun renewal of the grade two risen star 13th and final race on tomorrow's card out at the fairgrounds. They've got a big card tomorrow at Laurel as well, including two graded stakes. The first of which is the quarter $1 million grade three Barbara fritchie. These are Phillies and mayors sprinting 7 furlongs on the main

"From the same barn did win the breeders cup sprint. So, yeah, I would have wished for Cody's wish to have won the sprint eclipse, but I understand why elite power did. I mean, that one wasn't that close either. I mean, the late power leap power at a 108 votes and Cody's wish was second with 70 and Jackie's warrior was third with 62. Yeah, I think it was wrong, but I also get why elite power won. I mean, he won 5 or 6 races this year, and the only grade one that was the sprint. So. I take my lumps on that one too. How about regal glory who was voted champion female turf horse over in Italian and warlike goddess? Did the voters get that one? Right, or wrong. Yeah, right or wrong. Okay. Timmy. We got that one right. That one right. I think. Yeah, I'm going to say right on that because that's one of the ones I did get right. You know, legal glory, you know, she did have such a strong campaign, and she did try the boys twice, and you know, to her credit. I mean, she was tenth in the breeders cup mile. She was in the sword dancer at Saratoga. And she got 96 votes in Italian was 51, both of those horses trained by Chad, more like goddess was 47. So, you know, I thought regal glory definitely earned her eclipse award because, you know, she showed up against her kind of fault. All year long. Yeah, hard to fault the voters are going that direction with regal glory. All right, one more topic right or wrong. Timmy you sent out a tweet during the eclipse awards last night. I'm going to read it because I think it is a great discussion topic here. Mike ripoli, co owner of forte, went over the allotted minute he was given to accept the award. You had him timed at two minutes and 37 seconds is what you put in the tweet. And then you went on to say, jeez. Let these people talk a little bit. Moment of a lifetime, right or wrong. So Dale is Tim, right, more wrong. What do you think? Right or wrong? No, I want to say Tim's right. Let them talk. And I'll give you a little when I won my clips award in 2012 walking to the stage. I got a text and it was from Bob Baffert, who was also nominated that year. Congratulating me. And at the end of the text, he says, make them play y'all. I thought that was pretty cool. Well, of course, I'm going to say I'm right on this because I wrote the tweet. You know, this is the Oscars for horse racing. This is the moments that a lot of these guys in gals might never get again. And to go off on the stage and to have one minute, you know, you're already nervous. You're already maybe half loaded. You're in the moment. You're so excited. And, you know, a minute goes by, awful quick. To have to not allow them to, you know, be in that spotlight and enjoy this moment. I think it's just insane. What you only rent the room out for an hour. I mean, it just seemed to me that if you're going to celebrate the accomplishments of the sport for the whole year, you should, you know, I'm not talking about going for 5 minutes, but you know, you got to give them two to three minutes. I mean, is it going to, what are people, what's the big hurry to get out of there? I know that everyone gets up early for training in the morning, but you know, this is still, you're out of the, you could be out of there by 9 30. And you're still going to be have plenty of time. So I thought it was just in contrast in constable to have these the suits and the bean counters say, you only get a minute. I just thought that was ridiculous. Timmy, I think you're 100% right, and I agree with you completely on this one. If the eclipse awards are being shown on a network television network television network, yeah, that's kind of redundant, but if we're being shown on NBC or CBS or ABC or one of those networks and you had to stick to a certain time frame and you had time constraints, I get it. It's not. A line, it's on a horse racing FanDuel TV. There's no reason that people couldn't be given a little bit more time to thank everybody that they need to thank. I completely agree with you on this one. And I think it's a point. And I think that was a very good tweet. That is right or wrong for this week. We will continue with that segment next week with some more topics that was an expanded edition of it for you here this morning. We have one more to get to before we dive into the final point of the week that Dale and Tim will both make before we wrap up the show. And with the NFL playoffs coming down to their final four this weekend, I thought this would be kind of interesting. I'm going to present you with the name of each starting quarterback for those four teams. And I want you to tell me which jockey in which trainer compares best to those quarterbacks. And I'll throw the name out. Dale, you can go first, Tim, you'll go second, then we'll move on to the next name. So let's start with the San Francisco forty-niners. And Brock purdy. Dale, which jockey wish trainer compares best to a guy like Brock purdy. He's a tough rookie, so I'm going bug boy Jose Gomez

"To one. I thought liguria and sell the dreams. Number ten and 11 kind of stood out a little bit in here. And I thought both of them would be in the, I don't know, between two to one and four to one department and sell the dream is just kind of one of a bunch of them in the 5, 6 to one category, and liguria, who I think deserves to be the favorite at three to one. I thought two to one was a fair price. Do you think liguria is not going to be sort of, I don't want to say a heavy favorite, but a pretty convincing decisive favorite? Well, not to give too much away, but I'm only praying that liguria is three to one at post time. Let's put it that way. I think that her last race, breaking her maiden aqueduct, was very good coming from off the pace, Pratt wrote her that day. He's a board once again. And most importantly, to me, is the fact that about 6 or 7 of these Phillies look like they want to be forwardly placed, and liguria doesn't need that. She's going to have pace to run at, and he got the best rider out there trying to weave her through and avoid traffic and get the job done. I mean, she's a $275,000 Chad Brown horse who is coming off a pretty good-looking win at aqueduct. And I think she's going to be two to one. And I think she's a reasonable favorite that being said, I think sell the dream is really, really viable in here. Let's go ahead and toss out the dirt races. The three turf races are excellent. And I agree with you on this tempo of this race. I think sell the dream can sit just off, get first run and be in great position coming down the stretch. All right, so Dave likes the ten and 11 or the 11 and the ten, both of them. I'm going to pick liguria. I think she stands out in the Jimmy Durante. The one I would kind of use with her underneath would be the 12 ragtime rose. She looked good sprinting her first two starts and being by union rags out of an aldebaran mayor, even though aldebaran himself was a sprinter, the progeny had been better long than short and ragtime roses intriguing at 12 to one at least to get a piece for me in the Jimmy Durante. Moving ahead to the 9th race tomorrow at del mar, it's the grade one Hollywood Derby $400,000 on the line. These are three year olds going to go a mile and one 8th on the turf, a field of 11 to go to post in the Hollywood Derby tomorrow, Dave. Morning line favorite at 7 to two is wit for Todd pletcher and flavian Pratt. I've always been a fan of wit. This is Todd, this is Mike ripoli. This is saint elais, which is Vinnie viola stable. It's Pratt its second off on layoff. This is a $575,000 practical joke whose four for 9 lifetime 8 out of 9 in the money. And I think what is sitting on a big one? Do I love the price? No. Do I love the distance? I don't know. Winners never run this far at a mile. I think beats these horses. A mile and an 8th. Hard to say. I'm interested in war at sea, second off a layoff for Ron Ellis and Mike Smith. I don't know if Warren C has the upside of wit, but I do know that it is a horse that is very consistent, really fits in this spot and makes some sense and sugarman gay he's celestial city number three. I thought ran really well that aqueduct last time out. In fact, back to back, good racist at aqueduct. I'm just not sure, so that's still cities best as fast enough to beat wit. It's a horse I like. I think if it runs in a race with wins this race and that's my pick, but if you don't like the distance for wit, I completely understand. No, I'm gonna pick wit on top. You've loved this horse. I've usually tried to beat this horse, but he's obviously a very talented horse. He's only been out of the money once in 9 career tries and he's been first or second in all three of his tries going long on the turf. I happen to think that the races he's been running are tougher than what he's going to see in the Hollywood Derby, but it's a mile and an 8. It's not a mile. That's maybe the bigger question mark. We'll see if he's good enough to extend that extra furlong and go a mile and an 8th. I think all things equal wit is the one to beat. It's not a race I love, but I think it's going to be a fun race to watch, race 9 tomorrow at del mar, the grade one, Hollywood Derby. We've got three more races to look at all taking place on Sunday to at del mar one at woodbine. We'll get to them after this break. You're listening to the weekend stakes preview presented by naira bets on the horse racing radio network. Bet

"You've had one of the best seasons in the history of your career. How do you top this one? It's very difficult. Trying already used to imagine because I know they're probably going to they were talking about maybe retiring Olympia just. And knowing how long it took me to find a horse like him, you know, just like, you know, I had to go again and go in the hunt, trying to find these good horse and keep working hard. It's something that I have never stopped since I came here to the United States. You know, I have to keep working hard and I just think, you know, eventually working hard will pay off and it will come. Well, junior is good a writer as you are. You aren't even better person and I really appreciate the conversation here this morning and congratulations again. It couldn't have happened to a better guy. I'm glad you finally got your moment in the sun, and I know that this is just the beginning of many big moments to come, my friend. So keep it rolling. Good luck. And let's go get that 2000th career win, too. Yes, thank you very much, Mike, again. Thank you for having me. You program and you have a blessed day to everyone. All right, you too, my friend, junior alvarado here on the horse racing radio network. Great guy. What a story couldn't be happier for him and for his family. And for the family of Cody's wish and that entire story, which has been now been well told, well documented and it's just such a fantastic story in junior as you heard him say, just happy to be a part of it. When I come back, you're going to hear from owner Mike ripoli. You're going to hear from trainer Todd pledger and from Gregory Clark from shadwell as we look back on fortes win in the breeders cup juvenile and male thought in the breeders cup distaff. That's in the next segment right after your legends of the turf. The story of this great thrower bread might easily fit the needed scenario for a 5 star bit of Hollywood magic. All the necessary ingredients are indeed there. In the summer of 1940 because of protracted German bombing of the British Isles, the British bloodstock agency offered for sale 5 statues to American interests. Mister C B Whitney purchased one would won the epsom Derby in record time. The contemporaries of the time cast a rather jaundiced eye, so to speak on the purchase and that the horse was considered to be essentially a sprinter with little consequence, at least apparently chance of upgrading American breeding strains. The fact is, the 7 year old gray very nearly never made it to America at all. Now, that in itself is a fascinating story which bears retelling. He was transported to America by ship, or at least was supposed to be, and accordingly installed in a crate and hoisted aboard a vessel which was part of a convoy headed across the Atlantic. Soon after sailing, the captain of the freighter discovered the horse's bill of lading and, as his manifests forbade him from taking on livestock, the horse was returned to the dock. That, as it turned out, was a providential stroke of good fortune. You see, that particular vessel was torpedoed by a German U boat and went to a watery grave at the bottom of the briny deep with nary a trace of a survivor. A subsequent freighter brought to equine specimen to American shores. At the New York dock assigned as the debarkation point, there was no horse unloading equipment, so it was decided to take him off the ship via a long and treacherously steep passenger gangplank. Well, he stood at the top, pensively surveying the scene and waited, filled with curiosity, steadfastly refusing debarkation. Straw was used to line the gangplank, and he was fed, hey, all to no avail. Eventually he was enticed downward sugar. Curiously enough, many of this stallions get demonstrated that self same temperament, which was displayed at the New York dock in that year of 1940. When one of our subjects stallion's daughter's first flight with a crafty veteran reinsman had Caro in the irons, came out onto the race track for the 1946 fertility. She stopped for an extended time in front of the stands, not acting up mind you. Just looking up and down the track until her curiosity was fully satisfied. She then went calmly quietly and professionally to the starting gate and promptly galloped off to an impressive score over the very best cults the east could offer by way of opposition. And the breeding shed this stud was awesome and the reason was really quite simple. He had 5 characteristics there were of paramount importance in passing on to new foals, soundness, speed, confirmation, fertility, and something that can not be seen or measured, his natural intelligence and temperament, which made his progeny very easy to handle. He was in his prime in the breeding shed the unequivocal undisputedly foremost brood near sire in the world, all told he beget 68 stakes winners and with North America's leading siren 1946 and he was a leading sir for 14 straight years. That marvelous grace stallion knew and appreciated human affection and yet did not exploit it. He was never too busy to stroll to his paddock fence for an endearing path. He was kind, gentle, and uncomplicated. His nickname was Toby, but this great stallion whose name is indelibly etched in the now yellowing pages of American racing history was

"Picked it at peace as well. We picked the same horse once again. This time in the grade three river city, all 12 races in the books, time now for the naira betts best bets. This is this is the naira beds, best bet. All right, Dave, go for it. Yeah, I don't know if I have one. I mean, I'm gonna give you one because that's the segment. I like a bunch of horses this week in the 5 ten to one range. And if I can just get one or two of them home, I'll have a good weekend. I think the best bet though is diamonds if you do in the smart halo at Laurel. If I get anywhere close to 92 on the morning line for I think the priciest, the best bread horse horse that came out of a race, keenland was the favorite in that race. I think diamonds if you do just might be a bit better than that group. All right, so diamonds, if you do for Dave in the smart halo, one of the three stakes on the Laurel card, I'm going to go north of the border tomorrow at woodbine race number 8, the grade two Bess Arabian. I think the distance of 7 furlongs hits number 6 hour flash drive right between the eyes. She's actually one for one at this distance early on in her career. She's been trying longer distances of late and to be honest, maybe a little bit better competition. Some of these races. And I just think that going a mile and a 16th is a tad too much for her at the graded stakes level competition shortening up to 7 furlongs, plenty of pace to run at. I like our flash drive 7 to two for the team of Mark Cassie and Patrick husbands. Want to remind everybody tomorrow another bang up edition of the equine form presented by twin spires, the baron of the backstretch, Mike penna joined by jockey junior alvarado as he reflects upon his first breeders cup win aboard Cody's wish last Saturday. Classic winning trainer John Sadler talks about flight lines record win. They also hear from breeders cup winning combo of owner Mike ripoli and trainer Todd pletcher, national HBA CEO Eric Hamill back. That's a lot of letters in front of his name. Preview Saturday's claiming crown. The pot of himself, Jude feld, gives you this week's twin spires triple play. "He's going to come on with us. Jockey agent for both Joel Rosario and John Velasquez Ron Anderson is going to join us. We've got our good friend James Scully coming on Juan leiva, the assistant trainer for John Sadler. The guy who exercises a lot of his good horses, including flight line, gonna join us the trainer and co owners of Tyler's tribe Tom lepik and Tim Martin on as well as folks from cleburne farm from hill and Dale from spendthrift going to be another fun week on that breeders cup countdown show presented by hill and Dale at alapa Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m. Eastern Time next week live trackside at keenland. All right, let's get back out to the stakes coming up this weekend and we're going to stick at keeneland race number 8 on their card tomorrow is the first of two great at stakes on their program. It's the grade three Brian station for three year olds going one mile on the turf. Really nice field. Full field of 12, there were actually 16 entered, so four in four also, 12 in the main body, and this is a race day where there are several different ways you can go. And number one, ready to perform for Brad Cox is cutting back out of a race that he just didn't run very well at Kentucky down. So a lot of horses don't run well at Kentucky downs. If you go two back to the race, Saratoga, you find a great two victory that would look pretty good against this group. And in fact, ready to perform in that race Saratoga beat number 8 wit, who responded to win a stakes race Saratoga. Three weeks later, went for Todd pletcher and Mike ripoli and Jose Ortiz is a type that has one four and has four losses and three of those losses are to Jack Christopher twice. Gun 8 wants and the aforementioned, ready to perform once, so a horse that I think could sit just off the pace. I think he also has an opportunity to roll late kind of a versatile type who has really good figs, the two races on turf. Number 5, classic causeway. Well, it took them a while to figure out that caused me wanted turf, one that Belmont Derby in July, and came back and ran really good races against nations pride in the Saratoga Derby, the jockey club, Derby. Last time out, they shortened to a mile and he ran kind of fair at keenland and now they stay at a mile. I would prefer a classic causeway if they were going further than that. And number two ball in the cough is 8 to one in the morning line. I thought ran quite well several times in California, the California horses do not typically do great at keeneland, but boy, the price is right. I went with wit, I just like the versatility. I think this race could have hot early fractions and wick could sit off of them. I think wick could also be a deep closer if need be and I trust wit, but boy, ready to perform at 5 to one is pretty good and there are a bunch of ways you can go. I went to ready to perform simply because the one just not great race that he's run recently was at Kentucky downs. And I've said it many, many times. I throw out the form from Kentucky downs when it's an anomaly. When it's way better than a horse has been running or considerably worse than a horse has been running. I think some horses really take to those left and rights and ups and downs of the European style course that Kentucky doubts has and there are some horses that just don't. And to me, the race is ready to perform was running prior to the Kentucky downs racer, all good enough to make him as good as anybody else in this field. His last race wasn't that good. I'm tossing it. The one good thing about it is he was three to two in that race at Kentucky downs. He's 5 to one, a much better price in the Brian station on a conventional turf course at Keenan. And I like the fact that he can win on the lead or from well off the pace he's shown the ability to do both. Give me ready to perform with Joel Rosario in the grade three Brian station 9th or rather 8th race tomorrow at keelan. The 9th race at keelan is the grade two haggard fayette stakes for the three year olds and up going a mile and an 8th on the main track. We've got a field of 6 here and these are horses that obviously don't want to run in either the breeders cup classic or the breeders cup dirt mile 8 day or 7 days later. They found a little bit of a softer spot still with a nice purse and you've got a solid morning line favorite and number four first captain who's 6 to 5. Yeah, I was a bit surprised to see that morning line. This is one of two or three races that we're going to go through this weekend where I kind of narrowed it down to two or three of them and said, I'm going to wait until the morning line comes out and kind of see how it settles and where I might get the most value. I like first captain. I think first captain is completely reasonable. I just don't think this $1.5 million sonic kerlin stands out. The last three are all very solid. He has faced outstanding competition, cutting back. I just don't think that makes him a winner with absolute certainty. The last three races are all good. A repeat of any of those very much puts first captain in the mix. Probably makes him a likely winner. I just don't think it guarantees anything and it's 6 to 5. I'm going to look in a different direction. I like both number one west willpower and number three Folsom west willpower is stepping up in class here, but I don't think this race has an abundance of speed. I think west willpower is going to be on the lead and since joining Brad Cox's barn, I see two really, really good efforts, including an easy win last time out against somewhat lesser at Churchill downs. The works are very, very fast. And if you go back to the time before west willpower was in Cox's barn, you see a glimmer. You see one or two really quick races that are rather interesting. Cox also has number three fulsome, generally this is a horse that wins as the favored. I see 5 recent wins 5 wins kind of in the last couple of years. I think he was the favorite in four of those and was two to one or less in all 5 of those, something along those lines. I guess there was the one race at Oklahoma where he was a nice price back in April. But for some as a horse that likes to win, he's 8 for 15 lifetime and he's one for one at keenland. He's going to need one of his best races, but there's no reason to believe he can't accomplish that. Laurent Giroux is on Folsom Joel Rosario is on west willpower. I think they both have a pretty good chance. I chose west wolf power simply because I like the price. I think four to one is very, very fair. I think both of those horses have a chance, so does number four first captain. I thought first captain was the horse to beat. I wouldn't bet him at 6 to 5. I don't know if he's going to be that low, but I really thought that he was barely better than these as far as just being a slight choice. Not barely better, but as far as my handicapping went, I had a very slightly ahead of west willpower and whilst willpower and fulsome. I wouldn't take 6 to 5, but first captain is who I think is going to probably win the race, and I'm going to put him on top in the grade two fayette. Let's head out west. They've got three graded stakes on the Santa Anita card tomorrow starting with the grade two gold akova. Of course, golda kova, a monster breeders cup miler back about 15 years ago, she won three consecutive runnings in O 8 O 9 and in 2010, and this year's edition of the grade two golda cobra for Phillies and mayors going a mile in a turf brings out a field of 6 and I don't know if you call it the rubber match. I read this somewhere where it's kind of a rubber match between avenue de France and going global going global is going to be heavily favored in this spot and it certainly looks like if she gets a trouble free trip, she's going to be the one to beat.

"Two kicks off with owner Mike ripoli talking about nest looking back on his Belmont win with modena go. We'll talk about maybe some of his breeders cup victories as well if we have enough time. Jose Ortiz will be with me at 9 20 and at 9 40, your twin spires triple play with Vance Hansen, but without further ado, we do welcome in Mike ripoli, Mike. Good morning, my friend. Hey, Mike, how are you? Yeah, I'm doing great. You know, you and I have tried to connect ever since mowed down a cross the finish line in the Belmont and it's great to hear your voice. But let's start by looking back on what happened at Saratoga last weekend in that Alabama. You know the Fox Sports coverage caught you in the grandstand with your family and boy when nest was coming down the stretch, you could see, I mean the enthusiasm, the passion you have for the sport, you're hugging everybody, I mean, rightfully so what a moment that was. You know, Mike, I've been so blessed with some incredible moments here and the one reason I got to horse racing was an opportunity to share it with friends and family and I never realized from my parents to my wife to now my daughter who's only 7 and all my Friends and family how much fun you see the winning side, but even when we lose, we can with families always special. Except on that weekend everyone else is happy and I'm miserable, but getting everybody together is really nice and it was a great race and she had the two tough seconds. The oaks and then the Belmont and she really has become a star started Saratoga and she, you know, she's a very, very special Philly. I said earlier in the show that the traverse field should be happy, they don't have to deal with her later today. But I also think that nest has developed into an even better Philly than she was in the spring. If that's possible because she was really good in the spring too. You know, I mean, any time you buy a current, you know there late late three year old, even four year old horses. And we knew she would get better. So when she won a maiden as a two year old and then she won the rems. You'd almost handicap that she's going to be better as a late three year old, four year old. So she had a great start. She won her first two races and then she got a second in the oaks where it was just a trip a different trip. She could have won that a different trip. She could have won the Belmont. So I think the one thing that Todd Aaron from eclipse and I wanted to work on was, hey, let's get her as close to the lead as possible. Shut up to be on the lead obviously. And I think the one thing we tell I write is she can run a mile in three quarters. So we don't mind we don't need to save ground. Keep a wide, just don't have an excuse to get caught inside and since the other two races that folks in the Belmont, we've done that. She's been up earlier and she's been outside and she one race by 12 and a half and another one by 5. So so far so good. Mike, you purchased nest out of the keenland September sale from ask you farm and it was a co purchase with you and co owner Aaron wellman and clips thoroughbred partners. Was it a situation where when they brought her out and you looked at her for the first time you just knew immediately it was kind of like that wow moment? You know, I mean for me, I have such a great team. I mean, Jake west does a lot of our a lot of our sales. So he looks at everybody. We have Danielle. Bricker who looks at horses than Jim Martin and Ed rose in my racing manager general manager. And Todd is at best sales. I'll be honest with you. The last eyes I'm worried about on opinion is mine. I'm not there for that. That's not my job. So having those guys say, wow, wow, wow. To me, that makes a big difference. In fact, we thought she was going to go for 5 to like 700. That was our budget. And when she went for three 50, it was like, wow, you know, I mean, we were very surprised, but a lot of times in these sales when you have 4000 horses, certain horses fall through. And if you get two people on a horse, the horse could sell 4 million 800,000. There's only one person on the horse, the horse can sell for three 50. It happens like that every day. You know, you joked kind of tongue in cheek with Acacia Courtney after the race after the Alabama that you should wield her back in one week because she looked like she had plenty left in the tank and bring her against the boys in the traverse. Do you think we'll see her against the boys sometime up the road? You know, I mean, listen, for me, this was a very, I mean, and Aaron and Todd were all aligned. I mean, and my team, it was such an easy decision. I mean, she got beat in the oaks by secret oath. She beat secret off in the coaching club, secret note was coming back, she's the best early three year old. But you know what?

"A heavy yes for me. I mean, he's got to get that grade one on his resume. I mean, he's run lights out races. The second therapy second, the greatness, you know, he won the Jim dandy. I mean, stamping himself as the legitimate favorite, but he still has things he's got to do. I mean, I think after today's race, after the Travers today, I think we're going to have a pretty we're going to have a more concrete idea of who the leader in the Clubhouse is. I mean, if epicenter wins, I think, yes, he's going to be the leader in leader in the division. I mean, if rich strike were to win the Kentucky Derby in the traverse, that's a pretty darn good resume too. So early voting, the Preakness winner, if he were to win. I mean, zandy, if he wins, does he throw himself into the middle mix of this thing? I think he does. So, you know, the Travers is going to carry a lot of weight. And it's a really good race, too. I can't wait for it. Yeah. Yeah, it's a really good renewal. You've got all the major players in this division with the exception of modon and maybe taba, who is not here. Other than that, you have all these significant three year olds that we've seen throughout the year. Do you think epicenter wins it, Timmy? Boy. It's a question I've been asked more than once. This week and I would always keep saying, I don't know yet because let's make till we get to race day. Now here we are at race day. And I'm going to stand against he's definitely the horse to beat. There's no question about that. But I'm not going to take I'm not going to go 7 to 5. I want to try to get a value play in here and that's what I think I'm going to land on sand and one of the three Chad Brown horses in here who was, you know, he went into The Kentucky Derby with some great hype after winning the bluegrass. And the Jim dandy, you know, even an okay second. And that was his first race since the Derby. I think that's going to benefit him greatly heading into heading into this race. I've been on xan and fan ever since ever since the risen star going back to that. And I think he might show up in a big way today. Yeah. Yeah. He's all for three against epicenter in his career, but maybe today he has the look of a horse that's sitting on a big race coming out of that runner up effort and the Jim dandy behind the aforementioned epicenter. He certainly looks like it. This will be his second start off of the layoff. He does look like he can turn the tables. At least on paper anyway. You know, that's why that's why this field is so intriguing because really you can make a case for just really almost all of them. Okay, maybe I won't make a case for Gilded Age. Maybe I won't make I'm not ready to throw out a life grant. He's looked really good up here. And what do you do with the Derby winner? If he runs his Derby race, obviously, but will he run that race? I don't know. But you know, there were so many people that got off his bandwagon, baby even after the Derby, but they were definitely people jumping off like rats off the Titanic after the Belmont. And I guess rightfully so, but he's trained well up here. And it would be a good story for the sport. Good story nationally. People that don't follow the sport if this horse that won the Derby at 81 runs a big race here in the Travers. Do I think he can win? I don't think he could win, but I think he's eligible to hit the board. Yeah. Yeah, you know, the newcomer and in my opinion, the wild card in the traverse, if you will, is artorius. One of the Chad Brown trainees, he's a son of arrow gate who ran the fastest Travers in history. He only has three lifetime starts. This will be his first start in the greatest take. It's a huge step up from that win in the kurland last time out. What do you think? Artorius? Does he have a, does he have a puncher's chance? You know, I was sitting in Chad brown's office in before the meat started in, I don't know, a week before the meat started. And you know, I had never even heard of artorias. And he said, you know, we were talking about Travis horses and he mentioned the usual suspects and early voting and at the time Jack Christopher, but he said, I got this other horse in my tourist who I really, really like. He says, he said at that point, he said, I'm not going to say he's going to come out here and win the Travers. He said, I'm pointing him to the curl and if he runs well in the colonel, which he did, he's going to have another horse in line for the Travers. And he has been high on this horse for a long time. Yes, it's a big ask for him to go from the kern to the grade one Travers. But you know, people do remember what arrogate did here. Arrogate won the Travers. He was 11 to one. I mean, arturis is not going to be 11 to one. He's going to be, I don't know, 92, 5 to one, maybe. But I think he is a horse that leave him off your tickets at your own risk because I think that he's got so much upside and it wouldn't surprise me to see him, but again, it's also a big ass, but this horse looks like he's got a lot of talent. Timmy coming up at 9 o'clock eastern. I'm going to be joined by Mike ripoli to look back on that performance by nest last week in the Alabama and then even what she did in dominating the coaching club American oaks. I said earlier that everyone in this traverse field should be grateful they don't have to square off with her later today. Do you agree? Well, if they had a square off with her that she'd be coming back on a week's rest. Okay, let's assume she's got the Alabama. Yes, right. And first of all, too, if you haven't, I hope you got an hour for him because he is a walking talking man, boy. He loves to talk, and you can tell him I said that, but I expect him that when Dale and I are supposed to go on at 11 30, we might not get onto four. Because no, but nest is a lot of people think that's just the best three year old period right now.

"So they're not in the race, creative minister is your 9 to 5 favorite. I happen to think this is a pretty good version of the courland stakes that we're going to see this year. Creative minister is certainly one of the ones that has a big chance to win. Two horses just outside of them are both three to one right now on the board and they both have a big shot in here. Be better for Todd pletcher and artorias for Chad Brown. I'm going to lean just very slightly toward our tortoise. Debuted at keenland going 6 for a long, finished second, only beaten a length and a half after being about 7 wide turning for home. And coming from well out of it. They stretched them out to the one turn mile at Belmont last time out. And he got the maiden win as a three to 5 shot like you should. He beat a horse named gasoline, who's highly regarded. They were well clear of everybody else. He's by arrogate out of a ghost sapper mayor, he should appreciate extra distance. So this will be his first time going to turns and his first time going a mile in an 8th. I know the outside post is not phenomenal. But I think he's logical in the spot he's three to one. Be better has come off back to back mile and 70 yard wins around two turns at Monmouth in his most recent two starts, Louis sias picks up the mount on the son of uncle Moe, who coincidentally is owned by uncle Moe's owner, ripoli stable, Mike ripoli, of course, be better just looks like a horse was getting better and better. I don't know what he beat in those races at mom. I shouldn't say that. He beat a horse named cyber Viking last time out and he beat that horse by about 5 lengths and cyber Viking came back in one in his next start. So be better is beating decent runners and he's taking the logical step up in class. So western river, interesting spot for him. He avoids the really marquee names tomorrow in the Jim dandy of epicenter and early voting and zanden and even tawny port if you want to count them as a marquee name. And he comes into the curl and today, which seems like it should be a softer spot. It's softer, but it's not soft. And that's why he's 8 to one right now on the board horses are approaching the starting gate. Before they get

"Rewards points by betting on different racetracks, bet this Saturday on both Monmouth park and Delaware park to get ten rewards points for every dollar you bet condition stayed the same. So hurry up, bet this Saturday, July 23rd, rewards galore, and of course you can watch all the action all weekend long on both FS two and FS1. All right, Dave. We've got 13 races to get to. So let's get to them. We'll start with Saratoga as usual. They've got great at stakes on their weekend action. Two of them tomorrow, including the grade one half $1 million coaching club American oaks three year old Phillies going to go a mile and an 8th on the Saratoga main track a short but very sweet field of 5 that includes the winner of this year's Kentucky oaks secret oath. Yeah, this is one of three races I think we're going to talk about that I'm not going to tell you anything that's going to be just kind of jaw dropping here. What would your surprise be? If I or anyone else picked someone, Bobby, other than nester secret oath. Well, I don't personally think that anyone other than those two can win if either of one of those two runs one of their normal good races. It looks to me like butter bean society and nostalgic while all very talented Phillies have not run races even close to the level of nest or secret oath yet. Yeah, I agree. And therefore, I don't think it's a particularly good betting race because it's only a 5 horse field and both of those sources are going to be, I don't know. Three to 5 and even money or something along those lines. I did think it was interesting when Mike ripoli said before the Belmont stakes that the CCA oaks is kind of a nice race. But what you have to do for the state of racing is run the girls like nest and like secret oath occasionally against the boys and kind of go for everything. Well, both of these two Phillies did that. Secret oath after winning the Kentucky yolks ran in the Preakness and ran, I don't know, so so not particularly good ran fourth behind early voting in epicenter and that group. Nest I thought actually ran quite well in the Belmont losing the mode Donald, didn't have the easiest of trips. Now, when these scores faced each other in the Kentucky yolks, secret oath was better. I mean, I liked nest that day and secret note was the better horse and deserved to win. At Saratoga over the summer, I trust Todd pletcher a lot more than I do. D Wayne Lucas, his horses running for the first time at Saratoga in a meat, not their second time in a given meat, but their first time in a meat or O for their last 19 Todd is one of the best Todd owns Saratoga. I liked nest better in the oaks. I was wrong. I like nest better tomorrow as well. It should be a really good race. I think secret will come running late. I think nest will get the first run on secret oath. I don't think seek growth will go by. But if you're playing horizontal tickets, I think you have to play both of them. I don't disagree with anything you said, and I'm going to pick nest as well. I was wrong in the Kentucky oaks. I was not a secret oath fan. I thought nest was better. I thought there were other ones that were better than secret oath as well. I still think nest may be better. She wasn't better that day. We'll see if she's better tomorrow. Dave and I both think nest gets her revenge in the coaching club American oaks, but really be surprised if it's not nest or secret oath in that spot. It should be a fun race to watch. Whether you're playing or not. All right, jump all the way ahead to raise ten on the card and erase that's a little bit more wide open, David. It's the grade three caress for Phillies and mayors sprinting 5 and a half furlongs on the turf. Very evenly matched field of ten going to post. Morning line favored is number one caravel who's won two of her last three starts. Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised if caravel goes off as the favorite at something more like two to one, 9 to 5 than the 5 to two morning line. This Brad Cox Pennsylvania bread has done nothing wrong. 5 of 8 at this 5 and a half prolonged distance. One for one at Saratoga coming off a win, a win where it caravel beat star divine who is going to be one of the horses that gets pretty well played in this spot. If you like caravel, I have no reason to tell you that she or is not a good fit in here. I do think she's a good fit and gear. She's the defending champion. She does not tower over this field by any way shape or form. And I think she's going to be a little bit shorter of a price than I want. And I liked shuri devos about time in the gold wood at Monmouth last month. I thought that pretty clearly was an indication that this horse was headed to Saratoga. The horse ran well at Churchill downs. The horse ran well at fairgrounds, the horse won at Monmouth and I think this is a good one. I think the daughter of not this time a four year old is really found herself this year. It is trending upward. I'm not so sure right now at this moment about time isn't better than caravel and there are several others in this field that you can certainly talk about. Toby's hardest four for four at this distance. I just feel like right here and now about time is running the best of this group. All right, so about time three to one on the morning line for Dave. I'm going to go with a little bit of a screwball in number 6. Robin sparkles for Bruce Brown and Javier castellano castellano to my knowledge has not ridden this daughter of elusive quality yet. She always shows speech just doesn't always carry that speed all the way to the wire. I happen to think that a race is at Saratoga. Our better than a race is a lot of other places. And I think she's going to make the lead and she's usually bet. In fact, if you look at her last ten starts, she's only been higher than, oh, I don't know, 9 to 5 twice in ten starts. And even those races, she was only four to one and 5 to one. 15 to one on the morning line is too big for me on a mayor that I'm pretty convinced is going to have the lead turning for home and on occasion she gets brave out there and keeps going. So for me, I'm going to try Robin sparkles to take them coast to coast in the grade three caress race ten tomorrow up at the spa.

"So many unsung heroes in the sport and I'm going to continue to focus on those who do wonderful work behind the scenes. But this week, I thought I'd do something a little bit different. I thought I would shake it up. You're going to hear from a not so unsung hero in Hall of Fame trainer Todd pletcher who gets ready to settle in the mother goose later today at Belmont park Todd looking for a 7th victory in that race. He's currently tied with his mentor, D Wayne Lucas with 6 and if he win today, he'll stand alone atop that list, but he is a top so many listen, I was thinking back to his win in the Belmont stakes in his relationship with longtime relationship with owner Michael poley and I said, you know, let's do something different. Let's focus on a not so unsung hero on this sport in this sport this week. With this week's edition of unsung heroes all presented by woodbine Todd pletcher took time to visit with our Bobby Newman on our bedding with Bobby show yesterday and here is that conversation. Please to be joined by Hall of Fame trainer Todd pletcher now Todd, thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule. Happy to do it, Bobby. Todd, we know you've been a busy man. First of all, congratulations on a great finish in the Belmont stakes. We saw so much of Mike ripoli on TV. What are your reactions when you're running one two down the stretch? Well, you know, it's pretty rare in any race, especially a classic where you kind of get to the 8th pole and you're running one two and you feel pretty confident that you've got the race in hand. You know, and I'm always one that waits until we get to the wire to really take it in and enjoy it. But in that case, kind of got to watch the last 8th of a mile with confidence that we were going to win. So it's just really, really able to just sit back and kind of enjoy the moment. Must be exciting, getting to do it for two of your longtime owners, donegal racing, and Mike Ripley. How did those two come together in partner in modale before the Belmont? Well, actually, within Mike, obviously, has been following mode Donna Gould's career from the beginning, partly because I train him and partly because he's a son of uncle mug who might obviously owned when he was running and still owns a part of him standing stuttered Ashford, but so he was always taking a little more interest in the horse because of that, but he was also an aqueduct. I think when he won the rems and he was at aqueduct, the day of the wood memorial. So he was able to see him in person a couple of times and Terry was looking to possibly put together a deal. With someone and when it was presented to Mike, he had interest in it and they were able to come to terms prior to The Kentucky Derby. Fantastic effort by both of your runners in the Belmont mode donegal and the Philly nest of course nest was coming off a second place finish in the Kentucky oaks. That was not your only Kentucky oak starter though. You also had, who was a Philly that a lot of us didn't know anything about going into the Kentucky oak. She was undefeated four for four racing in Dubai, but then moved over to your barn. She ran a better than looked race in the yolks. What did you think about her trip? And what do you think about her and tomorrow's grade two mother goose? Well, I agree with you. I think she did run a race that's probably better than it reads on paper and she was still closing pretty well, hundred legs up underneath her at the end of the at the end of the race and the yolks and still closing ground. Unfortunately, there she drew a really wide post and then the mother goose. She's drawn the rail so we kind of went from one extreme to the other. But I think the one turned nature of the mother goose should suit her fine and hopefully the inside draw it in compromiser. Is she a Philly that needs some pace help ahead of her? Yeah, she's not a super quick Philly, but I think if they don't put on much pace that in this scenario it'll probably be okay she'll be able to lay a little bit closer. Well, we've talked about a few of the talented three year olds in your barn. You have so many of them would love to hear progress or the whereabouts of some of the other ones, not only did you have modon ago running in The Kentucky Derby, but you also had charge it and pioneer of Medina, where are these three year olds now and what's in their future? They're both at.

Well, actually, within Mike, obviously, has been following mode donegal's career from the beginning, partly because I train him and partly because he's a son of uncle Moe, who might obviously owned when he was running and still owns a part of him standing stuttered Asher, but so he was always taking a little more interest in the horse because of that, but he was also an aqueduct. I think when he won the rems and he was at aqueduct, the day of the wood memorial. So he was able to see him in person a couple of times and Terry was looking to possibly put together a deal. And what do you think about her and tomorrow's grade two mother goose? Well, I agree with you. Hunter legs up underneath her at the end of the at the end of the race and the yolks and still closing ground. Yeah, she's not a super quick silly, but I think if they don't put on much pace that in this scenario it'll probably be okay she'll be able to lay a little bit closer. Well, they're both at Belmont park, pioneer Medina just came back in a few days ago. You got a freshening and Kentucky just gave them a little time off after the after the Derby. So he's just coming back, hopefully we'll see him later in the later in the fall. Charge it scheduled to breeze tomorrow. It's done really well since the Derby in a minor throat procedure. We displaced the soft power and the Derby and so hopefully we've got that corrected been trained in super and things go well tomorrow. We're looking at the wire that Belmont on July 2nd. Todd, when you have high quality runners like charge it and mode on pioneer Medina and nest and, how much of a chess player are you? How many moves in advance are you looking if things go right for these talented runners? Well, in the beginning of the year, especially with the three year olds, it's all about trying to find the correct prep races and we know what the primary goal is to hopefully get to The Kentucky Derby the best way you can to qualify with points and so really it's about moving the chess pieces hopefully to the right prep races and then after the Derby we've generally taken up 5 weeks and geared towards the Belmont or in some cases some other races, but one of the things that I'm pleased with are proud of is that we've had 62 runners in The Kentucky Derby, including this year and I think with Moe donegal, that was like the 31st or 32nd horse that we came back and won a stake with one of our Derby starters. So we've been fortunate to get a lot of them there and still have them come out and do well afterwards. One of the three year olds that we haven't talked about a lot and maybe some people have forgotten about is corniche. He, of course, was the eclipse award two year old champ last year. He also is in your barn now. Where's Cornish and when can we see him next? Well, he's at Belmont who also be breezing. This will be his third brief for us tomorrow and right now we kind of have the Amsterdam in Saratoga on July 31st penciled in as first possible start. I think we're right on schedule for that if everything continues to go smoothly as it has so far. So obviously very talented horse unbeaten two year old and trained to trans the way you'd expect one like that too. Maybe a horse that looks as good as anybody we've seen in a while when he trains is life is good and he looks as good on the racetrack in the afternoons as he seems to look in the mornings. We haven't seen him since the Dubai World Cup when he had a clear lead at the top of the stretch and then just got tired down the lane. I see that he is listed in the noms for next weekend's nehru. Is he going to run next weekend? That's the plan. He too is going to breeze tomorrow and we're thinking we haven't run since Dubai. I think in retrospect that Dubai the surface that night was just incredibly deep and I think it really played against us. We're race of quality of horses like that to run a final time as slowly as they did just indicates to me what we were concerned about and that was just conditions that probably didn't sue the horse as brilliant as him. And really turned that mile in the quarter race and good 70 yards further than that really felt like so he's come back well. He spent some time out of wood and started getting a fresh he's come in trained awesome like you always does and so we're hoping that we can go into the nehru and then kind of move forward for the Whitney. Is he a horse that you would still at this point think could possibly handle a mile and a quarter in the breeders cup classic? This horse when you watch him train in the mornings you would think you would be capable of doing anything. So I'm not going to not going to hold the Dubai race against him just because of the conditions of the surface. I think just didn't suit him, but we'll learn a lot more in his next couple of starts and I think that will determine which way we go towards the end of the year. Todd, before we let you go, one thing that maybe not a lot of people know or people have forgotten you before you went out on your own. You worked with Dwayne Lucas for a few years and before that, you worked for Charlie whittingham. Are there any things that stand out from working with Charlie or Wayne that either you've adopted into your training style or the way you run a shadow saying I need to do things just like that? Well, I mean, I think one of the reasons you try to work for trainers like wittingham and Lucas and I was fortunate enough to spend one summer with waiting him and one summer with Lucas when I was in school and another trainer out in California Henry Marina a couple of summers and obviously my dad growing up..

"Does Mike rupo most of that horse or does donegal racing still own most of the horse? Because they've owned it the entire time, and then I think sold some of it to Mike ripoli within the last, you know, whatever, three weeks or something like that. But there was no mention of donegal racing or if Jerry Crawford or the green and yellow colors that they have in everything was Mike ripoli Mike RuPaul. He hasn't had this horse for a month. I mean, it's hilarious. Well, I agree. It's like when Bohr emblem won the Illinois Derby and he was in baffert's barn like 12 days, and it was like, it's like, you know, and I mean, I take my shots at the bath sometimes. It's like, bob, it isn't like you taught this horse to run, you know, counterclockwise or anything, you know, but not run that cop out of the Derby win, but yes, you know what I think that's the celebrity aspect though, because I'll go the other way. And yes, my mom grew up the husband of a trainer for 50 years in the races and everything and my father passed away a couple of years ago, but I mean, it's these Triple Crown races. She'll call the night for who you get to bet on. And I went over there and my mom looks at me and I mean, I spent ten minutes telling her mom, look, I'm gonna buy you a little exact, which I played as a super instead. But when we got up, we gotta put the one horse on, not in the local prep or was the only feed. Well, you know, if I played on it and he's on barbecue brawl. So, you know, maybe there's a way to bring in the mainstream media and these people that watch the races only three times a year. Let's bring them into maybe watch it 6 times a year when they're a guy who runs. And was kind of like when MTM or head of horse. You know, it kind of brought other people to the racetrack, but I think that's hilarious. The way they, yeah, but the way they showed that, it was the only micro pulley, but I mean, you know, if you ever want to chuckle, go back and listen to the introduction he gave during, you know, put your Hall of Fame speech. It was like, Mike Todd's getting into the Hall of Fame here. This isn't, you know, $7 and two drink minimum here to watch you on stage. I kind of felt like that, but at the end of the day, it's still good for the sport and they like it and they have a good relationship. And they've worked together. So who am I to say anything bad about it? You know, you know, I had the winner and was happy and I also thought the 5 would run well and didn't, but you know, so it was a good day and Bobby, I take it off to you, you were completely right about flight line and I was wrong, but Bobby, I'll say this, just like, you know, when people used to root for Ali, and I'd say Ken Norton's in the corner, I've got life magic lined up against it where we're waiting to go man on the mantle in October. So while life is good, not life's magic. Life's magic was a Philly for gene Klein and Wayne Lucas in the 80s. Definitely not life's magic. Sorry. But now we appreciate your call, Tom. It's fantastic. And I'm going to add this James before I forget. So talking about egos. Frank stronic is a guy who obviously is somebody who has a little bit of an ego. And he's done a lot for racing, and obviously his name is on several racetracks, even if he's not involved anymore and day to today running of the racetracks or the ownership. But he's been involved in his farm and he actually has a had a golf course and a steakhouse and things like that. So the golf course that he had, which was an Ocala, was called adena, golf and country club. And it was actually a phenomenal golf course, fantastic course. And unfortunately, it closed down. It is not operational anymore. But Frank himself had it on the scorecard that he was listed as the designer of the course. And obviously Frank stronic is not designing golf courses. He hired a big name. I think it might have been gill Hans, who's a big name in golf. Designed to do it. But part of the deal was that Frank got his name down as the golf course designer. He probably suggested where to put the driving range or something like that. But that's kind of the way it is. You never know where the egos are going to show up. I just thought, and I'm not saying Mike were pulleys ego egotistical or not. I don't know Mike at all. I'm more saying I thought it was funny the coverage that NBC had that they basically made it seem like donegal racing was not part of motto go at all. Everything had to do with micro bully. And I thought that was a little bit funny. I think Larry Coleman, I'm not positive, but I thought he said Mike will probably want to, but I will say one thing about you're right, that was a great call by Tom. Early on, he mentioned Jack Christopher. And I do think that's really an interesting debate, the NRS is see what anybody says. And I'll just throw this out there real quick. I mean, you know, when in the woody Stephens by tin lens like he did. I mean, just spectacular, awesome. Looks incredibly special. It looks like he could just run all day. But one thing with him. And I think there's a big contrast because of you had two of these special horses in flight line and Jack Christopher, who, you know, maybe going to turns in their upcoming starts. But to me, like flight line has the pedigree. It has a breeding to do it. And perhaps they both will go two terms seamlessly across Jack Christopher well. But his pedigree is, I think, a 100% slanted towards mile at the most and it's interesting because we had an example a couple of years ago and I'm bringing up real quick amine. She was winning these races to eat corn, the test, these one turn races by ten Lance, 12 months getting these huge triple digit speed writings and was brilliant and people thought she'd get two turns easily, and she didn't. So I think there is still a little bit of the jury out on Jack Christopher, how he'll fare. Especially if he was the point for the breeders cup classic at a mile and a quarter, perhaps we can get your thoughts Bobby and see any of our audience has any thoughts on the matter. Well, I'm going to quickly say this. I'm a big Jack Christopher fan as well. I've liked them all along. Maybe not to the extent that you and Tom are. I'll say this. I'm not sure that he beat much of a field in the woody Stevens..

"This week talking about why his Philly is running against the boys in the Belmont stakes. There have been just three Phillies to win it once in recent memory when rags to riches beat kerlin some pretty interesting points there. He calls the CC oaks a cute little race. Well, there's a cute little race with an enormous prize and I think it's got, you know, one of those races that if you win it, it significant, but obviously Mike ripoli believes in a lot of people think that waning a race like the Belmont or even competing in a race against the Beaumont brings more fans. It brings more attention it's better for the sport better for New York racing and that is a real chance today. I thought it was interesting what Dave grinning said in our first segment on the equine forum that nest had she won the Kentucky oaks, maybe would have been getting a lot of hype, but no one is really talking about her. She won the Ashland by over 8 lengths won the sun coast by more than 6 lengths and secret oath just ran an enormous race on the first Friday in May, nest ran a very respectable second. Obviously, that was against the girls we saw a secret oath run at the Preakness stakes against the boys and ran a credible race, not good enough to win, but was okay. It nest gets to take on the boys today, and it is not one of those incredible Belmont stakes fields. It does not appear to have the one or two or three horses that you just think about as a showdown that a 100,000 people are in town to watch, so maybe nest for Napoleon pletcher who have teamed up on so many great horses over the years has a chance, the daughter of kerlin obviously kerlin very, very good long distance racing. You would think that nest would be a factor in this race. I personally think 8 to one on the morning line is a little bit crazy. If you think we the people is the lone speed, great. If you think that modern goal should be the favorite and has the best resume, fantastic after those two, though, rich strike had the incredible Kentucky Derby, but is he going to get pace like that today? Seems sort of unlikely that previous races quite frankly aren't good enough. The races from turfway park on the synthetic, the gun runner at fairgrounds, those races aren't good enough to win. The Belmont stakes today creative minister has looked good, but three races in 5 weeks. I think nest has a real chance and at 8 to one is someone you need to look at very, very closely. And whether she wins or not, it is good for the sport to have a girl running against the boys, getting that opportunity and.

"Right, day three more stakes to look at. Let's go to race 8 on the Saturday card at Tampa Bay downs. It's the $150,000 suncoast for the three year old Phillies going a mile in 40 yards. We've got a field of 8 and perhaps the shortest price of any of the stakes we're going to look at in number two nest. Yeah, I think Todd pletcher places his horses, spots them better than any trainer. And I think he's found a terrific spot here. This is not a particularly strong field, or maybe what I mean to say is it's not a field that has accomplished a great deal, maybe some of these horses will going forward. I'm interested in Christophe Clement's long shot peaceful surprise. I thought the debut at Tampa was really strong at about three to one, beat 7 rivals, and now we get a second career effort, $300,000 daughter of bladder, maybe don't know yet, but certainly a possibility. We also don't really know about a little love and luck because the horses run 5 times and only one of them has been on dirt. This is a dirt race. The one dirt effort wasn't terrific. I thought last time out on turf and a stakes race ran very well, and if this was on turf, that would be a horrified seriously consider. But this is a dirt route and I believe in Todd pletcher and I read Ortiz and Mike ripoli and that looks the best, the daughter of nest. Okay, so I picked number two nest on top as well. It's just hard to get past the fact that she's already a graded stakes winner and she's going for a barn that's really just firing on great guns, not only having a great Gulf Stream meet, but the few runners that he sent to Tampa Bay downs have been phenomenal. 12 starts 5 win 6 second place finishes, and a third, so no out of the money appearances, nest getting irad Ortiz aboard once again. I think that she's speedy enough that she's not going to be far off the pace. May even find herself in front in a race where there's not a whole lot of other speed and if they let her get out in front, I think it's just all over. She's three to 5 on the morning line looks like more about two to 5 to meet. I'm not going to try to beat her. I think nest is the way to go as well in the sun coast race aid at Tampa. The big race tomorrow at Tampa Bay downs is race number ten. It's a points qualifier on the road to The Kentucky Derby with ten points going to the winner. The quarter $1 million Sam F Davis stakes grade three event for the three year olds going a mile and a 16th and Dave, we've got a full field of 12. Yeah, you know, the more I think about this Tampa Bay card, the more I like that pick 6 because I think that first race the 6th is wide open, maybe you get a price, then nest, I think might be close to a single and this race, I'm gonna use a few of them, but I think classic caused way has a very big chance of winning this race. And if you give me three to one the morning line I'm thrilled, I don't think you're going to get that classic causeway has been the favorite and back to back races hasn't won either of them. Those are grade one and grade two races want it keen on one at Churchill and last time out ran against two of the better Derby contenders right now, smile happy was the winner white a barrio was third classic caused away finished between the two of them and I think classic causeway fits really, really nicely here. I'm a little bit interested in make it big for safi Joseph, who, of course, won the holy bull with white of barrio last week. I don't know what to make of this source. The first two ran against Florida state breds and looked really, really good and last time went to Remington park and looked good and I don't know how good that race was, but you can not knock a horse that's three for three and has been impressive in each of them. And if we're going to get a little bit salty and look for a price on the far outside hidden mischief for Jonathan Thomas, has a little bit of intrigue. I thought was good as a maiden beat a field of 9 others at aqueduct in a race that was taken off the turf and then came back at 6 to 5 and finished a solid second good figs in both of them that second race was at Gulfstream in January. But I like classic causeway the best. All right, I can't fault you there. I think there are 5 or 6 in this field of 12 that have legitimate chances of winning. So although I think classic causeway is one of them, the fact that he may be the favorite. I'm not going to put him on top. I thought Shep stational is all right, make it big, all right, strike hard ran pretty well last time out behind simplification. Little Vic at a big price if he draws in, I think, actually has a chance in this race. I'm going to put number 9 howling time on top. He was two to one against classic causeway in the Kentucky jockey club last time out, the same race that classic causeway was 7 to 5, not a gigantic difference in the odds and those two. They were both, I think bet below was smile happy. And howling time in my mind was not ridden correctly that day. He had shown mid pack stalking, closing tactics, the first two starts of his career and done very well with him. And for some reason was sent to the lead last time out in the Kentucky jockey club, I think that's not going to happen. I think he's better with a target. I'm going to throw that race out. He's working very fast for Dale Romans since that race. If you draw a line through that race, his effort in the street sense would certainly make him one of the ones to beat and he's going to be a better price. He's 5 to one on the morning line..
