I just wanted to comment how the industry and many of the talk shows want to highlight and put them in the same shame boat as Navarro and that group they've got arrested. And as far as I'm concerned, baffert is a habitual speeder in normal life that gets caught more times because they're watching form. And what he was guilty of, if he was guilty, let's put it that way if he was guilty of anything in the Derby, which the test came back positive. It didn't affect the race and didn't hurt it. But and in most states, he would have been, it would have been a non issue, including his home state of California. He would have gotten slapped on the risk, but to make it out that he's a cheater like everybody else is wrong and that does more damage to the industry than what Bob Baffert did. Well, I agree with you in part with that. And thanks for your call, Brant. And Dave, I'm interested in your opinion on this. You know, I think when it comes down to illegal substances, people do kind of all put them into one category and obviously they're different. And I think what Navarro did and what Jason's service is accused of doing is different than what Bob Baffert has done. The problem is that let's face it, those guys were not household names. There's nobody in this world who's a non racing fan. That would have any idea if you showed them a picture of George Navarro or Jason's service, or said their names would have any idea who they are. They just wouldn't. And that's not a slap on those guys. It's just it is what it is. Bob Baffert, you know, is a guy that people easily recognize. You know, he is for better or worse. The one of the faces of our sport. You know, whether it's his is the color of his hair and his look, you know, that he's been depicted in TV shows he's been depicted in movies. He's been on TV a lot winning the biggest race that we have here in this country. You know, he is one of the faces of racing. So it's going to it's going to seem a lot bigger with him than it would from I don't want to even name somebody because I don't want to allege that some be taken like I'm alleging that somebody has done something wrong. But I don't think we're lumping them into the same category. I think what Navarro and service either admitted to doing or are accused of doing is much more serious because it's hard, I think it's much more chance of harming horses and jockeys. Whereas what baffert has done, it's probably it's just illegal is what it is. It's not allowed. And that's if, in fact, that what he did, that he did what he's accused of doing. What's your take on this? Well, I think there are two issues. There is one that what service in Navarro seems to have done. What we seem to have evidence for, it is one thing that that is a known. It is bad. Everyone can get on board with that. What we have with baffert is rumors and innuendo, which very well may be right, but we don't actually have all of the details that if ands or buts. So yeah, I think there are two different things. But I think the bigger point is what you brought up. It's when the basketball coach at Rutgers Mike rice does something stupid. He gets fired and everyone forgets who Mike rice is, if it's Mike's key, that's a much bigger issue. It's a brand name. It's the capital of the sport. Bob Baffert like it or not, and a lot of us don't like it. He's horse racing if it's my wife or my best friend who's an attorney or whoever that turns on the TV and watches horse racing two or three times a year, the only person they know is Bob Baffert. So if Bob Baffert is embroiled in this stuff, then it's a problem for everybody. And to make my point, if you walk down the street, let's just say you live in North Carolina. It's obviously not a big horse racing state overall. There may be a lot of racing fans. You're there. Brandt is there, obviously. But as far as live horse racing, that's not there. If you walked down the street and asked a hundred people if they knew who Bob Baffert was, you'd get a lot of yeses. If you asked them, if you showed them a picture of Chad Brown, whose arguably the best trainer in our sport right now, he certainly in the conversation with baffert and pleasure and asthma and in Brad Cox and whoever else you want to throw in there. How many people in North Carolina would be able to look at a picture of Chad Brown and say, oh, that's Chad Brown. He's a champion thoroughbred trainer. Yeah, bran and I, that's it. Yeah, well, you know, there'd be a few. But right. I mean, it's much less. And that's, like I said, it's just the way it is. Bob is very polarizing. And he's been doing it for a long time as far as winning races and winning a lot of races and winning a lot of big races and he's very noticeable. So it just is what it is. All right, we're getting close to the end of the show. I have not gotten your input on my two questions. So the first one is, when your handicapping the breeder's cup, and you're somebody who spends more time handicapping than most people. Are you somebody who will look back at the previous breeders cup at del mar? Will you pay attention to the Wednesday and Thursday races or both? Both, but the previous breeders cup to a much lesser degree. I mean, that's history and.

"For their second half of action as fate would have it both the Rockies and my team from back home. The Detroit Tigers have the exact same record at the break and not the greatest 40 and 51. But at least the Rockies aren't the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are 40 games under 500. Mike Rice joins us Mike. Thank you so much for your time. First of all, in second question for you Just reflections on the first half for the Rockies. What stood out to you? Yeah, I mean on the positive. I think the starting pitching has been really good, especially over the last three weeks or so. Since mid June. The rocky starting staff statistically has been right up there with the best in baseball in terms of E. R. A in production and You know all of that Ryan and and I think that's been impressive. I think we knew in spring training that there was a good chance the starting staff would be a unit that could lead the way and they have Cal Friedland's gotten healthy. Austin Gamber has been down for a little bit. That's been a downside, but You know where my mark is? What can you say about him? He's been just unbelievable. John Gray has been solid even despite the time on the aisle there for a bit, Uh, Antonio sends a Tele has pitched better than his statistics indicate. So there's no question that the starters have been really, really good on balance, and that's something of an aberration given Rockies baseball since their you know, since they came into the league in the early nineties. And obviously you can't get away from the road struggles on the other side of things. There's there's just no getting around it now. Do think they are starting to play better on the road. And though the series in San Diego here right before the break is a case in point, that's a a team that was very good at home. Very good in general. But the Padres have one of the best home records in their history at the All Star break, and the Rockies just went in and took two of three in three very well pitched games offensively. Yes, There are issues on the road. They are not producing like they want to or that, you know, they believe they can. But hopefully, the series against the Padres is a step in the right direction. And once they get back out onto the road, they've got a big Southern California swing here at the end of July after the initial five games at Coors after the break, so They're going to have a chance to go right back and face the Dodgers, the Angels and the Padres down there, and that's going to be fun to see how they do going to see a lot of the Dodgers as Mike mentions. They'll be the team coming in here to Coors Field this upcoming weekend Friday through Sunday and then the Seattle Mariners American League crossover battle there in Coors Field for those five before that long road trip. Mike Rice describes their want to dig down a little bit more on the pitching aspect might because I've got to believe this is something that's been frustrating for Rockies fans going all the way back to 1993. And it's not just the park itself for the baseball jumping out of the yard or the humans or not working. It's so difficult. I have to imagine to sign free agent pitchers to come here. And pitch half their starts at Coors Field. So when you start from that block on the board and you know that you're not going to be able to pursue a lot of these free agents, maybe without over paying, you got a draft and developed from within your system. We've talked about John Gray before and he's one of those guys. And it seems like the staff put together is very solid. Like you said one through five. But if you could just speak to how difficult it is To build a starting pitching rotation for the Rockies. Very difficult. Ryan and you've hit it on the head free agent pitchers have their agents. Many of them say I don't want to go to Colorado and you have to have the mindset in a game that's driven by statistical production. And that's the way to measure how good a player is right or wrong. Good or bad. Statistics are what drives baseball. Uh and when you have Uh, you know, you're an E r a of, say, 4.5.

"Mike. Now i haven't And my my take on that is it could be because ultimately. I don't know. I don't want to pretend like i do ultimately. I'm not sure. Trevor knows what he wants to do at this point. I mean i think you know. He's he's pretty focused. At least one would think on trying to do what he can. And trying to help in ways you know to get the ball club going in the right direction this year. He may know you may have an idea But i'm i wouldn't assume that he does so. I think that's down the road stuff. Obviously the organization has to look at you know if things continue the way they've started. Do they want to try to move a player like that before the deadline so that they get something in return but we're not even at that point yet. I mean we're today's the last day of april and while certainly it's not been the start that the club has wanted There's still a lot of games left and they're still talent on this club and ultimately one doesn't know how things are gonna unfold. So i think a lot of that's all premature. I mean you have to be thinking if you're the organization. What are some possible scenarios thinking if you're trevor. What are some possible scenarios. Either side at this point is made any hard and fast decisions on you know on april thirtieth well. And you're exactly right the sitting at nine and sixteen.
