"And now the spiel today. Donald Trump explained his strategy as regards prophylaxis. But that study was a phony study put out by the Va. Okay you know what who cares not worth playing that playing this? He's our president and I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists especially in his age group and in his. Shall we say wait? Group has but is morbidly obese. People are saying you know. A lot of people are saying morbidly obese but are a lot of people right well. Trump himself admits my spread out true but morbidly obese. Morbidly obese is a phrase that has fallen into disuse because it's a little shaming but as applied to the man who called Ms Venezuela. An eating machine and worse caught me like Ms be speaking. Maybe we can use the phrase morbidly obese or can we morbid obesity is defined is weighing more than one hundred pounds over bodyweight or having a BMI of forty or higher for the six foot three donald trump that would mean weighing well over three hundred pounds so he is not morbidly obese. He's just variety obese or more accurately hardee's variety obese but I have a morbid curiosity with morbidity first of all people misunderstand what the word Morbid or mobility means maybe. It's because of the phrase morbid curiosity. Maybe it's because of the word more bids association with words like Macabre and mortality people. Think it's death related but it actually means diseased mortality and morbidity statistics are death and illness having co morbidity means having diseases or conditions and yes those diseases could lead to death in the case of our non exercising cheeseburger scarfing commander in chief. You have to wonder if anything can harm him and the answer is of course no nothing can. The guy will probably live forever guys like him almost always do but guys like him. I mean while trump's trump's father live til ninety three his mother until eighty eight but also presidents except for the assassinated ones which tends to cut down the lifespan. Presidents do live a lot longer than the average man born in their birth year. Now a large part of that is this one key fact that you have to be thirty five to be President. So what does that mean you ask well? Lifespans are sometimes misleading because they're skewed by infant mortality. Once you get to thirty five you have a great chance to live until seventy five. But let's look at even our earliest presidents. The first George Washington didn't live that long died at the age of sixty seven except for the eighteenth century in Washington. Didn't make it out of the eighteenth century. Missed it by seventeen days. Sixty seven was living a long life. Life expectancy was under twenty five years in the early colony of Virginia and then after Washington the next few presidents were just a gaggle of methuselah 's Thomas Jefferson lived to eighty three John Adams. Ninety Monroe seventy-three but Madison eighty-five did you know that after Washington and before Jefferson. A miracle went twenty six years without a presidential death. That is a long time for networks to compose somber presidential death theme music and practice their solemn voices and now we see President Adams being transported to his final resting place by horse drawn carriage as is the custom because horses are all we have. It's eighteen twenty six people and by people I mean three people can actually hear me the average life span and remember the caveats. I gave in eighteen eighty in the United States forty years old by the year. Nineteen hundred was up to fifty years. Old Wu forget who but we had a string of president who outlived bat but not by so much that it would be actually impressive but then for the non assassinated presidents in the twentieth century lifespan. Got Pretty darned good. Did you know that Herbert Hoover outlived Kennedy? Why well because when hoover turned eighty nine he said I shall not be driving to Dallas in a convertible so Herbert Hoover died at age. Ninety in the last fifty years are deceased presidents have been truman age. Eighty eight Nixon who lived to eighty one Reagan to ninety three four tonight. Three George H W Bush to ninety four. When you're president you're generally cared for your well off usually trim well post. Taft pre trump. You have excellent healthcare. You have people cooking for you and people protecting you not a bad deal. President trump doesn't actually have what we would consider many CO morbidity. Even if Nancy Pelosi diagnosis differently. Trump doesn't drink doesn't smoke seems not to stress out about very legitimate criticisms or the inability to pop above forty five percent and the approval ratings. So I would say. The president is on a healthy trajectory for a long fruitful life filled with grievance rage flag hugging consumption of off brand malaria drugs and many many infrastructure weeks to come. And that's IT for today show. Margaret. Kelly is the gist assistant producer. She's not good at handling money. But if chased she may lead you to a pot of gold from what I hear. He quit he played for the warriors. The biggest Nba Finals upset. Ever the bullets were prohibitive favorites. Everybody predicting that they would sweep. The upstart warriors led by Rick. Perry Rick Perry was a great player a great NBA player a difficult teammate. By all accounts incredibly arrogant and fond of himself but was a great NBA score. I've had him on the show. Radio show a couple times. He's an outstanding guest with with a phenomenal memory and the ability to really tell great stories but anyway those NBA finals. Were supposed to be an easy four-game sweep for the bullets. Well Golden State won the first three games and they came back to landover the capital. Center for game four and the story about this particular game which is featured in this short story about the nineteen seventy five. Nba Finals is that the bullets were so frustrated with Rick. Perry that they basically had a plan to take him out and when I say take him out take him out. Physically Mike. Reardon was a small forward for the bullets. Then all right. Tough Guy. Six six Good shooter left-hander. And basically they agreed that reardon would takeout. Berry. And when I say take him out like physically try to hurt him to take him out of the game so west unsettled. Who is the hall of Fame Center on the bullets and for those of you? That don't know sunsilk six seven Strong as an ox. One of the most feared players of that particular. Nba Era. He was no nonsense. You did not mess with wes. Unseld he he. He gave you the the most difficult pick. A set. Hard picks had the outlet pass that he became famous for Kevin. Love Outlet Pass was patterned. After Wes unseld in Fact Kevin. Love's middle name is Wesley named after Wes unseld his father played with wes. Unseld in Baltimore Anyway the plan was to take out to take out rick. Perry but wes unseld told Mike reardon. If you take Rick Barry Out Al adults who is the coach of the warriors is GonNa come off? The bench is going to try to beat your ass. Al Adams was this incredibly. He's an incredible physical specimen feared and he was the coach. This was the matchup first matchup in. Us sports history to feature to African Americans as the head coach as the head. Coach is Casey. Jones was the bullets coach and als- was the coach of the warriors. Anyway early in the game and they've got the film of it. Rewritten GOES AFTER. Berry with a punch to the back of the head. This is the way this game was played back. Then he punched him in the back of the head and here comes AL adults as unsold predicted off the bench heading for rewritten and unsettled. Uc jumps right in the middle of it. Stop Saddles dead distracts will the West said. It was hard because he was a strong dude. Adults gets kicked out of the game. Reardon gets kicked out of the Game Berry stays in the game. Golden STATE WINS GAME FOR TO COMPLETE THE SWEEP WITH AL ADULTS. Their coach in the locker room and they swept the bullets in. Berry with phenomenal They couldn't figure them out. They tried to take him out physically and he he wasn't eating took the punch to the back of the head but continued to play and that completed one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. They then followed with the nineteen seventy six. Nba Finals the next year. Which was Phoenix? Against Boston and game. Five in the Boston Garden. I'll just I'll just tell you one of the most memorable. Nba Games in history triple overtime NBA game. Five to two is the series Gar. Heard remember him when he coached the The wizards he hit a shot at the end of the second overtime after the game was supposedly over fans stormed the court. One of the fans took on one of the referees Richie powers and punched him all. Hell broke loose in the Boston Garden. It was nine o'clock tip on a Friday night. They set it up by talking about how drunk everybody was But anyway if you ever WanNa see an incredible finish to a game Brent Musburger and Rick Barry Actually on the call you know Google game. Five Boston Phoenix nineteen. Seventy six and look. What happened from the end of regulation on? It was crazy so then there were other stories. And I'll tell you a two others real quickly and then we'll go for the day There was a lot in this In what I saw over the four five hours that I watched about Bill Walton. In the my favorite story about Bill Walton was told by Denny crum Denny Crum was the Longtime Louisville Coach Right Louisville as they say down there. I think you won. Two National Championships looked at up seemingly national championships. Danny Crumlin at Louisville He won the IRV Ellison over the Duke Final and eighty six and I think he was the coach of the team that beat. Ucla in the final two time champions time all right one second vital force six final. Ease a Helluva coach. I mean he's the one that developed Louisville into a national power. Yeah so he was John. Wooden top assistant at Ucla. During the UCLA. Dominant years of the sixties into the early seventies denny crum's was called by a UCLA. Alum who lived in San Diego. Say you've got to come watch this kid. He's a red headed freckle faced. You Know Center. He leaves plane down here in San Diego for a public school. You gotta come watch him so denny crum gets in his car. Drives down to San Diego to watch. Bill Walton played for the first time he had I think he said he had thirty something points. They won by fifty and his stats for the year. At that point he was averaging over thirty game and shooting eighty four percent from the field. That's what Walton was shooting in. Highschool chromosome came back told the Great John. Wooden coach. I've just watched the greatest high school basketball player. I have ever seen wooden told him to stop exaggerating. Said Stop saying stupid things Danny come on and he said coach. He's the Greatest High School Basketball Player. I've ever watched his parents are cal alums and if we don't move fast we're going to have to play against him twice a year and that's going to be a big problem. Well the rest is history. They signed Walton Walton always dreamt about playing for Ucla and they went on the longest winning streak in college. Basketball history. Eighty eight games before they lost Notre Dame and part of that eight eighty eight game win streak included a game to start the nineteen seventy three seventy four season against Maryland in Pauley Pavilion Maryland was ranked fourth. Ucla was ranked number one. Ucla's win streak at that point with seventy something games Maryland had already been being coached by lefty drizzle. Had already he had already proclaimed that they would become the ucla of the east. Aaron in December of Nineteen seventy-three. This was a massive sporting event on the national level Maryland at Ucla to open up the nineteen seventy-three season. Billy Packer tells the story about the game. It's lefty UCLA at East at Pauley number. One against number four and Maryland lost the game sixty five to sixty four. They had the ball at the end with a chance to win the game. John Lucas got trapped in the corner and threw. It threw the ball away and they ended up losing sixty five to sixty four Nc State would later go on To beat UCLA in the national semifinals which ended the seven year national championship championship streak of Ucla. The other quick Walton story was told by Jack Ramsay because they had a whole Short story on the on the seventy seven trailblazers. Dr John Jack. Ramsay who coached the seventy seven trailblazer steam call build call. Bill Walton the most skilled center in the history of the game by the way something. I've heard many people say over the years and the greatest passing big man of all time. We missed out on what could have been the greatest career for center of all time because Bill Walton got injured. He injured his feet had multiple surgeries. Came back. You know in nineteen eighty six and was part of that Celtics? Eight hundred sixteen where he came off the bench for Robert Parish but Ramsey said Walton's the most skilled center in the history of the game. And then there was one more Sort of short story that I saw over the weekend it was. It was my favorite because it included one of my all time favorite players. George the ICEMAN GERVIN. Who is one of the great scorers in the history of the NBA and one of the short stories on this basketball? A love story series was about nineteen seventy eight the end of the regular season and the battle for the regular season scoring title between the ICEMAN and David Thompson. This is an incredible basketball day in very. Interestingly there's not video or film of either one of the two games at these guys played does not exist so in this particular short story part of the episode. It's all animated and then with the two players you know interviewed about that day. So what happened on that day? Is David Thomson? Overtook the scoring lead early in the day by scoring seventy three points at Cobo arena against the Detroit Pistons. Gervin 's San Antonio Spurs team played at night. They were playing New Orleans. In the Superdome New Orleans was the jazz before the jazz became. The Salt Lake became the Utah Jazz and they moved to Salt Lake City. They were playing in New Orleans and they played their home games in the superdome. So that's the final game of the year for the Spurs Gervin told before the game the David Thompson went for seventy three and if he is going to retain the scoring title for the year he needs fifty nine in this game. They had already clinched the playoff berth. The coach was Doug Moe at the time all of his teammates said ice. We're GONNA WE'RE GONNA keep feeding you're going to get fifty nine. Hit fifty three at halftime. You have to understand if you don't if you if you don't know George Gervin. He was a six eight skinny to guard. He's the one of the greatest and most entertaining players in the history of the game. He certainly one of the greatest scorers of all time. He had fifty three in the first half. So we only need six in the third quarter. And he's telling the story and he said what was really cool about it. He said in the first half Pete Marriage Pistol Pete. Played for the jazz was on the bench because he had been ruled out of. That game was injured and during the whole first half. He's rooting George. Gervin on ice. Keep going keep going you. You gotta get to fifty nine rooting against his own team. And George Gervin looks into the camera and said you know what that was said that was to artists communicating with each other to the greatest appreciating each other pistol. Pete cheering me on against his own team so anyways fifty three at halftime he only needs six. Gets the six quickly at fifty nine so he retains the scoring title. The coach says Doug Moss says will take you out now and he says coach Leamy and let me get a couple more just in case they miscalculated so we got four more ended up with sixty three in thirty three minutes and took a seat now. He thinks had he really wanted to. He could broken Wiltz record on that particular night that the they were feeding him over and over again that he could have gone out and gotten at that point you know wilt had the hundred.

"Comes to supermarket chains tops tops supermarkets and Wegmans are the big upstate? New York supermarket chains. Wegmans of course has become a national you know supermarket chain in probably among among the highest quality supermarket chains. That there is and they've expanded down in this area. Although they've really been primarily in Virginia Northern Northern Virginia. You know real estate. Montgomery County is so expensive at their prices are very expensive. To say it's hard to find the land and build it out but there aries one up to seventy I think maybe it's Germantown and now there's going to be one. That's going to open up at that Fannie. Mae Location on Wisconsin Avenue. I don't know when it's going to open up but Anyway I ca I ca. I just market quest okay What's the worst supermarket chain every dealt with? Oh God All of the ice okay. So a lot of the northeastern supermarket chains you. You know the the supermarket chains in New York and New Jersey. You know I mean like the shop. SHOPRITE is not. There aren't corporately owned stores that it's they're all independent independent owners their franchise like I dealt with a lot of shoprite owners way back in the day and then a lot of the A and P owned stores like Wal Bounds on Long Island. I I spent a lot of time and some of the nicest people I certainly remember them. But some of the stores that you would go into. Wow I loved a pay only because of the name the Great Atlantic and Pacific. Yeah that's a great name. I remember that one time. They changed their name as a company super fresh. And I'm thinking that they didn't know they just super fresh was one of their store formats. Well I thought how absurd you got this great name and it turned into something like super fresh. I thought that was all day. Piece suits. AMP was in this market with their super fresh stores primarily they had had in Manhattan. They had their food emporium stores. which were more upscale stores? I remember spending a lot of time. In fact the the food emporium group they were actually their headquarters. Were in the South Bronx and I I and I had to call I. They were client of mine and I would lot lot of Tommy. I spent so much time in my car in the late eighties early nineties in Newark New Jersey Philly and I. I'll never that. That meeting was always a tough one because it was a bad neighborhood it was not a good neighborhood security everywhere around their facility and I had in you know I they would let me come in and Park in the facility if you didn't have the relationship with them and you had to park outside of the facility you may not come back to card complete and total good shape but So the other thing about buffalo you know you mentioned the sports teams. The the Buffalo Braves in the Washington. Bullets is played a series in nineteen seventy five Braves against the bullets Bob mcadoo Ernie digregorio Andy's Randy Smith who was the fastest scarred and the League against the bullets with Elvin Hayes. Wes unseld Mike Reardon. You know nick weatherspoon Kevin Porter. This was the first team in Washington that made a big run. They came in nineteen seventy four from Baltimore and the first year they were called the capital bullets they called the capitol. They lost the Knicks in a seven game series. And then seventy five they It was the Celtics and the bullets who finished one to the bullets were. We're actually in the center of it was called the Central Division of the Eastern Conference back then and the The Celtics were in the other division. Probably the Atlantic and the bullets played the braves in a best of seven series and Elvin Hayes and mcadoo each in the series had fifty point games really and that that series stories is of some of the key games are on Youtube. I'll bet the. CBS broadcast of them and the bullets. One in seven games one the seventh and deciding citing game in DC and then they went on and played the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals and beat the Celtics in six games and that was the year they lost a golden state they got swept swept in the NBA finals by Golden State. It by the way odds wise. Still the biggest upset in NBA history. I can't believe that goal underdog was it was a one man team I mean they had will Clifford Ray and and and guys like that for all intensive fills Phil Smith. was there shooting shooting Guardian Rick Perry boats to see much more talented. They were and they got swept and swept. The braves. Were a fun team the watch they were a fun team to watch play. What was the name of? The building was called the odd short auditorium. Or something might have been because I think that's where the sabres played for many years but it's funny because I found that I found some of those games on Youtube. I don't know several years ago when I was like. Wow these these are like the first Games. I can really remember of the bullets being in Washington. You know playing the braves and mcadoo was a star. That was the best of Makati's career was when he was is with us right off the bench with the Laker. Having lived through the macadear with the next I can tell you. His best era was in Buffalo. Will he was a disappointment. Appointment in new. I could be wrong about this. Look it up but I think mcadoo and Elvin Hayes were the top two scores in the NBA In in one thousand nine hundred and that would have been nineteen seventy five live. I want to look that up. Because McAfee was a was a lethal score. We were so happy as Knicks fans get mcadoo and he was such a disappointment. Nineteen like Spencer. deadwood was Spencer. Haywood Spencer Haywood played for the bullets in the early eighties. On those ruling Mahorn Teams Spencer. Haywood was who is a part of that team. So the nineteen seventy four. Seventy five season. the bullets ended up sixty and twenty two. The Celtics ended ended up sixty and twenty two but the Celtics got the number one seed The this franchise won sixty games. Once wow yeah it would end and they won sixty that year and then in nineteen seventy nine. They went fifty eight So you're leading scorers that that year count impassable reference. If they don't make it easy MAC news you're leading score. He averaged thirty four point. Five points a game Rick Berry was to Elvin Hayes was seven Elvin Hayes average twenty three a game well because the leading score thirty four point five in Barrie. Thirty point six Kareem was thirty a game three scores over thirty and then it was tiny archibald. Charlie Scott Bob Lanier and Elvin Hayes tiny archibald another great player. Watch what straight player to watch the league in points assists one year. Yes now that series against Buffalo That is honestly that is I sort of remember their first year here when they when they lost to the Knicks and seven games. 'cause you know the Baltimore. Bullets had this incredible rivalry as you know with annex ex and then when they moved to Washington that first year they played the Knicks in in a best of seven and long game. I mean the battles between Gus Johnson and Dave Bush were legendary between West and Willis Reed legendary battle. So you listen to this Tommy all right. Oh my God mcadoo. Samakuva had fifty fifty in game four in buffalo and then Elvin Hayes came back in a two series in Washington and had forty six five. You know mcadoo though I don't I I don't know where I can find exactly real quickly. What his average was I can do it off the top of my head here but mcadoo had had to average forty something a game for the series? He averaged thirty seven point. Four points per game. Here it is. I found it. And Elvin Hayes average twenty eight point four points per game. I mean two of the great scoring power of that era. Elvin Hayes is I think ver- very often. He gets very underrated in the conversation. The greatest power forwards in the history of the game. I know he was on the. NBA's top fifty fifty with wes. You know when they put that thing together. How many years ago is that? Now Elvin Hayes is one of the great power forwards his game but powerful or back then was considered senator blue collar position. And Elvin Hayes was not a blue-collar player. No he wasn't but you know. Elvin Hayes was a great rebounder and shot blocker. I know that I I know what he was. A score. First and foremost as he was in college You think like I think when people think about the greatest power forwards they think Kevin Mikhail. Yeah don't you think like Kevin McHale is always like first and foremost I think Carl Malone maybe Karl Malone you know depending on how you view Tim Duncan I sort of viewed Tim. Duncan is more of a center Sodi but with David Robinson technically he was more of a powerful that was only early in in his career. Dirk is a power forward. Yeah you know and Dirks up there. I duNNo. Elvin Hayes was an iron man to he. Didn't Miss Miss Games. He played forty something minutes and nights because he was so self. So sell some of my favorite conversations over the years whether that was on the podcast or on radio have been with Phil Chenier and always. We'll talk about whatever. The topic of the day is on the wizards and then out somehow always circle back to some of those teams and he has really fond memories. But there's no doubt that Elvin Hayes was not an easy team now he was not an easy guy but but what a great player yes absolutely. I mean part of that that bullets championship team and that was a great era of basketball in this town for NBA. It was. I mean I mean that's the thing you don't realize if you're not of a certain age when the the bullets in the nineteen seventies in Washington went to three NBA finals and one at once. And then if you count Baltimore in the decade of the seventies the bullets went to four. NBA Finals you know when they were always a threat even when they weren't in the finals they were one of the threats to get there. They were in the playoffs every year. Yes you know. It wasn't like they were ever awful. I mean look you had to future hall of Famers On the team in in West and in Elvin Hayes if Chenier hadn't had back trouble late in his career he was on the verge of putting together. You know sort certainly only a borderline hall of fame absolutely and then Bobby Dandridge is just flat out. When he came here in one thousand nine hundred seventy eight he was the difference maker? Yeah you know. He was the club she he was. He was off performer. He was there to butcher. When when the Knicks made a trade in sixty eight or sixty nine with Detroit? It got to push her. That was the final piece that changed the Knicks And it was the same thing with Bobby Dandridge who had won an NBA title already in the along with Lou. Alexander was he Kareem Rollout Center. At that point he was Lou. Outside and Bobby Dandridge wasn't was one of the Great Clutch complainers in DC sports history. That's not an exaggeration He was the guy that hall of Famers Wes unseld and Elvin Hayes Hayes deferred to in crunch time he was also a great defender. He was the guy that essentially in the playoffs. Took Dr J. You no and in guarded him would guard Gervin. You know he got the best assignment defensively. But my favorite Dandridge story of all time was told by Dick Motta in the seventh game of the Eastern Conference Finals Nineteen seventy-nine they were playing the San Antonio Spurs as the defending Champs because they had won the title the year before against Seattle and San Antonio was in the Eastern Conference then game seven which is a controversial game in NBA history because the officiating that went completely the bullets way down the stretch actually trailed by ten with four minutes to go and got every call and spurs fans before they started to win titles with Popovich and Dunkin and that whole era they talk about the Doug Moe team that lost the bullets that should have been there championship team and it was robbed from them in in the seventh and deciding game. Well with twenty seconds seconds to go in a tie game at the end of overtime in game seven game seven Eastern Conference finals. They won five to one zero five. The bullets had the ball. And and back then you know they would have. They would have mics in huddles and you could hear and nothing's going on in the bullet subtle. Nothing like your Dick Motta Bernie. Br bickerstaff they were. The motto was head coach. Bickerstaff was the assistant coach. They're just looking around. They had called a time out and then the horn goes off and modest says everybody gets together. Gather get in here Thrown into bobby and get out of his way. That was boy. That was the play. They threw it into Dandridge and he worked the clock and got to that spot he had this spot on the baseline. Tommy where he that ten to fifteen range where he was money he got to that spot. Knocked down the shot. They won the game. Actually the spurs had one final possession and Elvin Hayes blocked The final shot by James. Silas who was their point guard. That years the Spurs Point Guard and the bullets one went onto the finals and lost that year to the supersonics in five games in the rematch of the year. Before but I I love. I love that you know. Modest is told that story over the years I've heard Dandridge tell the story of heard him all. Tell the story it's like. What are we doing coach? They're just sitting there thrown into bobby and get out of his way. And I'm bobby go in the game for us. Ends with motto is a good coach. Yes he was like He. I'm sure he had a good play. He wanted to draw but he decided you know what the players are going to decide. Decide this one one player in particular When we Talked last on Tuesday. You said you were gonNA tell us the story of of a of a lawsuit you're involved in that made it to the Supreme Court. Well Yeah we were talking about my coverage.

"Had a game. Where guy was back on defense and fell by phone and your like cyber lookout. You know, he just always had little sound bites little big little things that him. Dunkin's totally under appreciated as one of the ten best players of all time. Yeah. And just to piggyback on the Scott Duncan, he's done EMMY award winning films and things with Martha Stewart Trump and Bon Jovi the World Cup the Olympics in survivor copes there you go. So Tim, Scott Dunkin his parents, mom and dad Duncan did a good job raising these kids here now fits let's be honest. You just in a good mood because you're within sniffing distance of Pebble Beach golf links. Is that what you're doing right now? You gotta go down and scout all the major event. So the NBA finals don't start for a while. And why not go down to pebble and, and just see what the guys are gonna go through for the US? If I could do it's tough assignment, I'll give you that Cody Ross posted a picture on his Instagram you're going to be so bombed when you get there and see the pristine blue skies with not allowed to be seen. All right spectacular. About it's it is, it's opened up. It is semi, and I'm ready to roll standard that stay off my friend keep it in the short grass. All right. Here we go. Yeah, that's, that's your strength though. You drive Brooks. Kepco. No. I don't. You know why nobody in the history that game has driven at like Brooks. You know that that is amazing. Is that guy of pounds off the team is so good at the open, because normally is that type of thing where you just keep it straight, and all that, Bob bombing gal, Jim and can hit, you know, places I'm anxious to see if he builds on, on Natalie's open legacy. But obviously, when the PTA this pebble is going to be really interesting all the way around. I'm looking forward to. It's hard to describe what the phenomenon Brooks kept guy, you know, probably always asking me. And it's hard to describe a guy who literally like like the warriors just blows off the regular season and shows up, only for the majors, and he admitted it he's like, yeah, my concentration just completely ratchets up at majors. I'm not that fired up on the Greater Hartford Open. Well, the bigger thing is think about elusive by shots at tiger Agusta plays with them for two days and beats them by seventeen shot. Yeah. Any questions. Wow. Okay. The warriors gonna get to the finals and every game by thirty points like okay, wow tiger. Tiger tiger looked exhausted too, by the way. Hey Fitz as we search for talking points here, one, one is als-. He announced to the undefeated that he's his goal is to get back to oracle one last time, eighty two years old. He's had a lot of health problems says he doesn't wanna come in a wheelchair. And, you know, as we say goodbye, oracle and we know there's only at most three games left, this is a guy fits, honestly, if you had to rank like the since nineteen seventy-one, or whatever year, they moved, there are seventy two the most the most identifiable figures and oracle history. I mean obviously the current crew would be would be the top of the list, but maybe Al Attas number one. I don't know. Put it this way als to me as a special place because the warriors won the title. Seventy five Washington game. Four had resorted trying to have Mike Reardon fight, Rick Barry. So they would get thrown out of the game. Right. Right. So, so Al adults seizes happening and als- runs out there, basically to kill Mike Reardon and als-. The one that gets injected so Rick could stay in the game. Nickname is the destroyer nobody messes with Al, Al. Yeah, right. Yeah. I mean there's, there's the fake tough guys and whatever als was the legitimate tough guy. And so I just love the oh, you're going to try to start a fight with my best player turn the series around. No, I'm gonna go run out and punch you. I'll take the Jackson but risking to stay in the game. I, I've loved Alan from that moment, and then he gets a meet him. It'd be around him and him and Nate. I mean it's. Part of warrior history. And also the greatest voice ever in the history. I totally agree in somewhere. We have to we have to point to the heavens for Nate Thurman to who would love to be here to an hour will be representing him. You're right at fits, and you know what he represents to he's, he's that, that certain generation of those guys who were born in the thirties, and forties, who could be total destroyers and total ask kickers sweet. Total gentlemen, total like that anymore. Now, now, they don't know that, that will thing is Jim Barnett will say having played for Alvin no profanity, no drinking. You know, he he was very in, you know, these spineta incredibly interesting, man, I, I love listening to outs hawk about the night. We'll scored a hundred and obviously Al one eight from the field. And, you know, he's got the actual ball that will go two hundred eight gave it to Alvin. I mean it's like why you know you talk to them. And when you sit down and say, hey, tell me about will in Kareem. Versus shack and allies on where to step in is great shooters, like Alvin can take you through the history of the NBA. It's like a living history. That's why that's around him is so great. And we you know we want him. They're like, you know, if he could get there. Get there to oracle to finish it off. That'd be fantastic. As so great. You know, we had an AL's poster in our family TV room in nineteen seventy five. I'll never forget it, man. It was like poster night. My brother had got I believe he's an enormous Carolina AT. Is that right? I said without Goodland any others. Niners had a running back from there a few years ago. But I don't know how many players came to historically black college. Right. It is. And you know he was involved in some of the lunch counters situations. And you know, major change moments in our country. You know, the thing for his joke, is always, you know, he's drafted late traffic brought like one sport jacket, and then he's with the warriors for sixty years. Like if he was ever applying alone if you had any previous employers now. Sixty years, and his reference points, just the ghost of Franklin mule, and, and cetera, by the way you want to North Carolina. Antique, just quick cert- Dwayne. Yes. Air seventy eight on your scorecard Helvin buffet also. And yeah. So anyway, it's great. I figured that was a good one to talk about. Hey, just a quick thought before we get your mind on that t- shot on one. And I know you're already thinking about eighteen to and that is the raptors last night. They made it they've made it intriguing. It's too, and you want seven we play that go all the way till the Monday if indeed. That is the case, but he planned today. Anything that happened last night effect, your feeling on the warriors might face. Well, you know what this reminds me of the Denver Portland series? Milwaukee's better. They're better team just like Denver offender team than Portland. But sometimes the best team, doesn't always win, and Milwaukee, not having been through this. They really showed him when you have Ryan Hollins on talked about role players away from home. Milwaukee doesn't have Middleton's their second star. And this has Janas I kind of voyage into the deep water that Dame Lillard was talking about, and I love walkies role players, but it is show up. He Bokod did. And so now you got cool, I and you've got Bach and you've got to tortured history for Toronto in the playoffs as well. But it's suit too, and I mean Milwaukee, a better team but they didn't play better last night. So you know that's the beauty of a seven game series. We're gonna find out, you don't lock your way into winning seven game series that it never occurs that way. It's the perfect number of games. And then just one laugh on the way. Did you see that onion headline that went viral had a shot, Kate on had a shot, a K D, And his sweat suit says employees using up sick days before, leaving company all day? Right, right body. Right. See onion. Let it go right? Tell you what, if I can't wait for July one and just the ultimate if the warriors win the title which obviously we're pulling for with fans. I can't wait, if Lenka just like oh, yeah. I extended dream on we resigned, claiming recent Kevin. And then just drops it the pen from the check and walkaway of know the warriors, the warriors Lago say center will be big middle finger signed them on. You know what it would be perfect for Polly's lake of material to? Yeah. Claim Durant, all of them. We all your sleeve even dismounting Polly on a river. He had hired Tim Flannery to run the Twitter account for the Twitter account. Now, he'll be the official voice of the Golden State Warriors. What role loot the looney refunding in there, too? To that brother, you a kid and do about the postseason that kid is having incredible. Hey, you know what? You know what it'll be? It'll be the financial quibbling of scenario on the dragon earning up landing, that's just scorched earth, sign everyone rest of the NBA. You can eat it..

"Positive for you know, with him out on the road. Every birthday Zachary. I hope you have a great day. Anthony, can I mentioned an anniversary and neglected to mention last week. Yeah. If you want to stay out of the doghouse. It's not that kind of anniversary not wedding anniversary fifty years ago last Saturday. I was separated from my active duty in the military, really fifty years. I came back on Friday. February fourteenth. I tell everybody through the years. The statue of liberty was my reality net year, I returned from Europe and fifty years ago house only four I didn't ask the rest of us were swimming. Graduations. And thank you for your service, or you're quite welcome. All right before we get into talk. You guys have anything else before I get into our GED fitness player. Armin coach of the week and congratulations to lakeshore Brett life Ford for their win over Maryvale. So he is our g fitness coach of the week. You can nominate a coach at life fit dot com. That'll get you remember the coach's name the school sport. And why you are nominating him. All right, guys. Lot of upsets gas upsets, but some curious upsets, depending on the sports so effect. Let's start with wrestling Francis. Why don't we get going on that you've been in contact with matter Rourke? So laid out his buddy. All right. So we in the section state section. I'm sorry state. Wrestling finals are going on in Syracuse right now. Yeah, right now in the large schools, we have. Ten out of the twenty five sections representatives are still alive and in the small schools, we still have nine alive. So we have all three McDougal cousins are in. There are still are in the semifinals their way class. We have Ryan stencil from Lancaster one fifty two annum Dagestani from grand island and at one eighty two we have Dominic Thomas from Saint Francis. Those large schools and then in the small schools in the semifinals. Andy Liu Kinski from new Fain Zack Brady from tunnel. Wanda? Johnny Putney for Easter Rura Corey day from Iroquois Robbie Penhallow from Falconer and Mike Reardon from pioneer. They're all in the small in a small school semifinals. As you said roof is down there. You can follow him. I just put a link to his life. Log on the Facebook group. So be sure to follow him. And hopefully, we'll have some champions by the end of the weekend. Didn't hear that McDougal names. Yeah. Yeah. They're all three. Yeah. Good. I mean, kind of expected them to go far this year possibly bringing home state championships. Three, let's see Roger girls basketball. Okay. Where do you want me to start at the top? As have not had zero. Their core finals? Will be February the twenty six which would be. What's it Tuesday? I believe frontier will be hosting Lockport. And Clarence will be playing at orchard park. I look for the top seats that especially frontier frontier. Looking good. They've already knocked off later this year. They gave Saint Mary's. A Lancaster all it could handle. What is so good about? Frontier. I don't want to get away from what you're doing. I want to go through all the teams. But what is it about frontier? That makes them so good probably that they have the two top players in class and. Class AA and probably three of the top five. Okay. Yeah. The rest of the seven James could pick names out of the hat. Parody y Shah, and it'll come down to either Clarence your Opie making it to buff state against like, I say a frontier doesn't win. They'd have to have one of their worst games in Lockport would have to bring area game in order for frontier. Not to be there. Section d. Panama, a number one seed actually draw by until the some is Forestville. They will be playing for seed floors. Ville number two seed Franklin Ville will be playing Sherman. I look for Franklin villain Panama for a rematch. Possibly a de facto state championship game. The winner of that game anything less than a state championship. I guarantee is a disappointment really. Okay. Are you going down to Jamestown and on Friday? Friday is boys James voice world's next Saturday. Okay. Going down. I'm going down. For the girl came Saturday. In fact, I'll have to leave after the first segment next week, boys. Basketball. I next week class a. We'll south is the second seed they will be playing Niagara wheatfield. I looked for Wilson to win that game number one grand island, number four Hamburg. If grand island doesn't bring their game hamburgers has been under the radar all year long, and they've quietly snuck into the semi-final game, and that will be at Clarence and the twenty seven th they believe that would be Wednesday. And that's their third year in a row. Those teams have faced off in the semi finals familiarity there. Yes. Class a to this is the war lakeshore versus Iroquois lakeshore. The number one seed, everybody concedes that the top three teams in class and girls basketball would be Amherst and lakeshore from a to and we'll south from a one lakeshore is as good as any one of them. The only problem is. And I don't know if you guys saw the news the other day, they had a write up on lake shore. And they're talking about the third year that they would have to go through Amherst, you know, because two years ago, they knocked off will south. Were the defending state champions at the time. Lakeshore if they bring their game, they could beat everybody including Amherst, the problem is especially after that article in the paper lakeshore better not be looking past era coy. They beat era quite handily in Iroquois barn. The second game of the year. The first game it was over time at lake shore. And you only reason went into overtime is your acquaintance to couple free. Throws your day won that game. So again, the ads would be in favor of lakeshore. But if they're looking past era, quite that could be a big mistake. Class b. Be one anybody heard of somebody named Sarah Pfeifer from olien. Yeah. She just knocked in fifty fifty and a playoff game here. No big deal watch this. Here's fifty evidence. But she's gotta to be averaging over forty a game, isn't it because you don't what. Like, for example. I went to Uruguay game. And in the first half. He was crazy. On and on and the second half. And this is what makes the difference from the Sarah Pfeifer two years ago in my opinion, two years ago. It was all about Sarah Pfeifer now. Sarah Pfeifer, actually, I watched jet game. Seriously gets Uruguay she's making offer teammates look better than they really are not bad. But they're better because of Sarah's more focused on team play that she's at the point of for. You look at it. She didn't feel like she had to carry it all by herself anymore that we have enough talent around here. Let's spread it around. Yes. She makes her teammates want to be involved. It's not like you get somebody with that much talent on a team and the other four they're out there for two reasons number one because you have to have five people on the court at a time. That's a good reason. And number two. They're just standing around waiting for. The teammate to do. Some Sarah's got all these people involved. I'm very impressed with her this year. And Roger that comes with maturity, I mean, you know, there's a big difference between a sophomore and a senior out there, especially when you're asked to be a leader from such a young age give this woman a lot of credit. I if that's the way she wasn't she's made that turnaround. And I mean, this isn't even our Hinds point total of the year. Now, sixty trees. So no doubt. Right now, you gotta be talking about her is one of the players of the now, and they're going up against city honors now city honors have obviously a much weaker schedule. Then only and has the second highest score in western New York and average and a sophomore care what we're who. Now. We'll find out how good cure awards and mother she can carry city Adar's that's going to be by fire. Toughest tasks. I don't know if that could happen. The other semi-final east Aurora. The second seed they're gonna play for Dona, which is the lowest seed to come to make the semi final. And either the boys or the girls they were the fourteenth seed, why were they the fourteenth seed 'cause they were in the CCA see division that had olien southwestern Chautauqua lake maple Grohl. So and dunker they were the worst team in win loss white in that league. That's the reason why they have the fourteenth seed, but they've already knocked off new Fain, and they've already knocked off Albion excuse me. I don't have the other one in front of me, but coming from fourteen all the way Springville they knocked off the third spews seed Springville. So they're gonna play Easter raw dairy might run out of their fortune might run out 'cause Easter are is good in spite of having lost Emma breaker to graduation Sarah tally is playing really well. Class c I'm sorry. Be two. Even as the number one seed, they play the number four seed southwestern south western also comes out of their tough division. I just alluded to I don't think Eden can handle southwestern outta the five stars at Eden only. Brooke Woodard would be able to start on the southwestern team, and she would probably be fifth or six on their team depending on the situations. And all that. And leaving south western, of course, would be Aaron Radic was a repeat from last year on our top twenty five coach Joe Doherty is going to have to really come up with a game plan. If they're going to be the southwestern number seven allegany, limestone will be going against the third seed stead homestead led by the name's familiar. Gabby mcduffie, Isaiah mcduffie younger sister, and all in allegany, limestone, just knocked off Brian Baker and the Wilson team which was the third seed, and he said that that was going to be a very tough match-up for Brian Wilson girls. Hey, Brian had a very young team next year. Look out for Wilson. They're going to be good. They have just about everybody. We say that every year know this year. I don't think they may have had one senior. Classy maple grow a this class c two now maple grove is the number one seed they will be going up against Randolph maple grove another team. It came out of that top division. I look for them to advance and they will play the winner of ruse Bergen cast valley Jimmy maple grove should end up at Bob upstate and winning classy one Port Vila Chautauqua lake in the one five km Silver Creek and Falconer in the three seven game port fills number one against talk. We'll lake another team that came out of that top division. So I look for chocolate cake upset Port Vila that one. And I think that's it for what about Monsignor Martin last senior Martin. Assuming that the games are played they got semifinals tomorrow. Now, I don't know if the projected weather's gonna change that. Supposed to have some serious winds tomorrow. And then I think by Monday, we could be looking at possibly blizzard like conditions. I suppose I thought the wind advisory ends at ten o'clock Monday morning. Ravs just going by what I read this morning. Hey. The Sunday at villa Maria four games at one to forty five four thirty and six fifteen. Nardin is gonna take on. I believe buffalo. Sam. And the two or three game that would leave. I don't have the teams in front of me. Now, the four thirty game would be Nardin. Did I said earlier, I think I was run Nardin would be playing Saint Mary's of Lancaster and O'Hara would be playing. No, I'm sorry. Scratch that let me get back to you have to break. It is those teams. So it sounds. I don't ever written down my paper. All right. Let's take a break. When we come back. We'll get the finals that are set up. Roger will have and Walsh. Can I get into boys basketball than hockey? We're gonna talk to western Wilcox and a little bit from the Niagara gazette get his take on always been following the wolverines all season. Because we've got big goings on come Friday night. Beautiful Ford field. The twenty eighteen marathon MAC football championship game going to feature the east division champion. Buffalo bulls against the west division champion northern Illinois. Huskies again, that's Friday nights. Seven o'clock kick at beautiful Ford field. Ballgame gonna be televised on ESPN two we are. Happy to have with us the MAC mission or his name is John Steinbrecher. He joins us now Commissioner how are you this morning? Steve I'm doing greatest championship week. We're we're ready to come to Detroit. And I think we're going to have an outstanding game. Well, first of all Commissioner, I know you. The venue that is Ford field. Does it get any better than that? I mean, you got folks coming in from various places in this particular place, Illinois, New York, and for those who haven't been to Ford field and both these schools have participated there before because we got two great programs going at it for fuels is beautiful. You know, what Ford field is one of the great jewels of of indoor arenas in the country. And we we always jokingly like to say, we always know it's going to be seventy two and sunny that Friday and at the end of November first December when we come to town. But it it is just you know, it's a tremendous venue the staff with the lions and Ford field have always been so great to work with and we value that relationship so much. And so yeah, it makes it even more special for us to come to town. They take care of our fans. Really well, and so we hope we get not only a lot of fans from northern Illinois and buffalo coming. We get a whole lot of that Detroit metro area coming out and joining us as well Commissioner it turns out this contest will Mark the twenty second annual championship game for the fine MAC and will Mark the fifteenth neutral site game at Ford field buffalo making their second appearance here. Meanwhile, northern Illinois truly a great program, and I know Kenny Gallaudet lions wide receiver going to be paying attention to what the huskies do. They're making their seventh appearance in the last nine years in this championship game that special, you know, northern certainly knows the way to Detroit they've been there a bunch of times and the and the recent history is you just laid out. They have one of the great defensive players in all of the country, and that's a junior all American defensive and Sutton Smith who is chest. It was one of the most dynamic defensive players I've ever seen. He is all over the field and in terms of buffalo. They have one of the most dynamic and athletic quarterbacks and olive college football this young man, Tyree Jackson. He's about six four. Oh, two hundred thirty two hundred and forty think Cam Newton when you look at him he brings that kind of athleticism. And so it's gonna be that's really lays out what this game is going to be about the the offensive prowess of buffalo and the defensive notoriety of northern Illinois and Commissioner the championship game aside. I know you're very proud of the fact that the MAC had seven teams that are bowl eligible. You know, what it speaks to the depth of our league? And we're looking forward as we work through this weekend. We get through all of the championship games across all of the football bowl subdivision. And then we get all the, you know, all the the games assigned to the college football playoff and the new year six games to kind of see where all the all these games. And all these teams slot out at all it'll keep us all on pins and needles until the announcements next Sunday afternoon. Well, Commissioner I know that we have something else in common, and that is a wonderful relationship with marathon, our relationship with them goes back years here WJR and just want to thank them for their support of this great championship game. You know, what midwestern based down there and Finley Ohio, they have been great supporters of the mid American conference in this championship were proud of their their continued involvement with us, and we're we're we're equally proud they allow us to put their name on top of our championship. Commissioner. Thank you very much for your time this morning to appreciate it. Steve great to be with you. All right. That is Matt Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher again the game coming up Friday night beautiful Ford field. They are going to t that baby up and we're talking about a couple of great great schools northern Illinois as well. As the buffalo bulls at Ford field. Friday nights, seven o'clock is the kick and going to mention right now. That judge Mike Reardon who I've known for quite a long time. He went to Bishop Borjas, sadly tried to get into divine child didn't happen. But anyway. His son. Jeremiah is a long, snapper. And he has a sophomore, and he has been the starting long snapper for the buffalo bulls for over two years. Interesting. How it works out that Jeremiah comes home and we playing at Ford field. So lots to look forward to in that tilt right now, we're at seven forty five and traffic and weather. First is what we do for you. And it is a busy Monday as we check in with John Daly with that rain snow mix primarily wet conditions through the immediate metro Detroit area, but we've got snower snowy conditions the closer you get to Jackson Lansing and Flint this morning all in all slower than normal commute. Even where the roads are just wet this morning enough to bog down the morning rush. And we've got this freeway closure to contend with in in in Livonia, police tell us that wreck still has a westbound it's a.

I'd love his pants gerbil, which I've always you being a point guard. I I don't know. That was part of your repertoire, but a pass dribbles. Oh, I've always you never met a coach that like that. I I like to do it. And when you do it I used to do it. I used to hear about it from the coach don't don't pass off the dribble. What are you get off the dribble? I'd watch any of it. And you know, what time it's on. What time is on blah. It doesn't matter. If you have a DVR which comes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but not last Tuesday and Wednesday night. Tom Jones in new episode tonight new episode on Wednesday night. Okay. And I can't wait. And I had not watched any of it. But I knew knew of it, and you had mentioned it on the air. And it's on demand. You can go back and watch it a SPN's got all these, and they don't I guess they use two or three story lines each show when they shot for an hour, or oh, no, it's more. It's like when you go to commercial when it come back. It's a difference stores at different stores group a bunch of them together. And there's no particular chronological order to them either. They didn't start at the very beginning. And now, you're updates point. Now, they've been going back and forth. So there when you go go to on demand. You can check him. Yes. Summer nine minutes long summer, eighteen minutes long. You don't know exactly they tell you. What you want to watch a long short? You pick out the title, and you can cloud on demand. Does it? Yeah. Watch it for about four and a half straight hours. I could get me half of predatory. I gotta watch. This one economic watch this one that my daughter comes home. I said you gotta see the one. Did you see Gino REM, and Pat summitt I it was I thought I mentioned that particular one to you that I guess maybe it was someone else. I never particularly cared for Pat summitt tears coming down my face at the end of the great tears coming down my face for someone. I never particularly cared about. Now. Go figure right and Gino came up with a wise guy from Norristown eight. Gino. That's what he is. He's okay with that the angst between he and Calhoun on campus at uconn was great. Connie Hawkins thing was good too. Oh my God. He original. Dr J J Kudo an allegation it. Guy who was behind it all but they could never prove that Connie tossed game. But yet they held him out of the NBA for years guilty by association, and I love, you know. They're not messing around. If if for example, our annals is alive our analysts on the show talking, and I can't get enough of listening to the real guys talk about what it was really like back. Then did you did you bring Al adults up for a reason because you saw on one of these? Yeah. The one where Washington, and what was Baltimore might have been Baltimore at the time the bullets before they became the wizards are playing Golden State, Golden State, right? And they couldn't stop. Barrick, Barry, nobody could so Mike Reardon just hold off. And punched Reardon was written was not had the guy had wets on sale because they told reared and they needed him to do this. And re really was an aggressive player wasn't didn't have problem with. They say he said YoM afraid Al adults the coach he didn't wanna get hit by the culture, Golden State. So west on sell told them if you hit Barry, I'll protect you from Atlanta. So they show it and here's Barry coming off a pick. And we're just punches him in the back of the head Atlanta come off the bench and is going on. Stepped in between the two of them, and he kept from punching Mike Britain. 'cause that'll was that tough guy. Even as a coach Goldstein is great.
